Got some folks from Independence, Kentucky, they just told me got some others from Lexington and good crowd of people here this morning. And you know, this has been great because we have babies and dogs and I've handled all of them like that's how you know I'm in a good post win move.

That's right. Babies, dogs. We just put it all together. We'll, we'll make it work.

Very first of all, they're not in the same you have to put Republicans. I like I'd say most of these people are Republicans. There's babies and dogs rank who you'd.

Oh, that's a good question. Well, Republican would be one. We'll bring you food depends on but like you can't, you can't be wearing the hats and creating the memes but just regular Republican. One dog, two baby.

Look, the baby doesn't want me to be locked in with it either. It's not going, nothing's going to happen positively for that baby during that time. What am I going to say to it? Just look at it and start screaming and go, stop. You know, there's just. There's only so much I can do. A couple little non basketball things. The television show Severance, which I don't know if any of you have watched. I know Drew's watched it. Even if you haven't watched it, this is one of the coolest pieces of promotion I've ever seen in my life. They went to Grand Central Station yesterday in New York. Did you see this?

[Shannon The Dude]

Didn't see it.

[Matt Jones]

They went to Grand Central Station and they set up this glass enclosement in the center of the station. So if you've been to Grand Central Station, just think about what it looks like in the center. They enclose part of it with glass. And they brought the set and the people from Severance and had them in there for like an hour as if it was the show. So they were in character, sitting at their desk at the cubicles to where it looked like you were watching them actually at work on the show. Same set, same outfits, they were doing the same things. And I have to tell you, if you had just been at Grand Central Station to get your train and you came upon that, that would have been one of the coolest things ever. Just imagine whatever your favorite TV show is, if you just walked into Grand Central Station and like, it was Jerry's apartment from Seinfeld was just there. That is what they did. And I thought it. Did you see that?

[Drew Franklin]

I did. I thought that was genius promotion. I want copycats.

[Matt Jones]

That was one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

[Drew Franklin]

I mean, you just said they had the TV show just sitting there. I mean, yeah, imagine you're just going to catch a train and there's Tony Soprano and Paulie and the boys sitting there recreating Sopranos. My favorite show. I mean, that would be just so surreal to walk in. And I'm sure it's drawn more and more attention.

[Matt Jones]

And they didn't break character like they were in character the whole time. They were acting out of the scene. I don't know how it ended. I don't know how they got them out of there. But the videos I saw, I thought that was maybe the coolest piece of promotion for a TV show because the second season is coming that I've ever seen.

[Shannon The Dude]

Brilliant. I mean, you guys have talked about. I kind of want to see it, but now I really want to see it.

[Matt Jones]

It's on social media. Just Google severance Grand Central Station. You'll, you'll see it. Second thing, one of my biggest complaints of day to day modern life is maybe going to get fixed. Are you ready? Now I understand why they did this, but everybody knows if you go to a CVS or a Walgreens, what's the biggest change in the last three or four years? Everything's locked up, right? Like everything. You have to get somebody, you have to hit a button and they have to come and like, you can't get razor blades. You may see I shave much less now because I don't want to buy the razor blades. It takes too long to get the person to come and unlock them, etc. Now, the reason they did that, they say, is because they were getting a lot of theft in some of their stores. People were just coming and grabbing a bunch and leaving. The CEO of Walgreens did an interview yesterday where he said, we screwed up. He goes, it's made it worse. He said, yes, we cut down on theft, but now people don't buy it because they don't want to wait for us to come and let them in. He said, so we would have been better off just allowing some of the theft because it has hurt our sales much more, locking everything up. So now they're going to go back to unlocking everything again, which probably will lead to some theft, I'm sure. But now he's right. I buy less things at Walgreens and CVS because I don't want to wait for them to come and unlock the thing.

[Drew Franklin]

I'm also guilty. Go, walk, get something. Usually razor blade. Some other. You look at it and you look over and there's one person, they have a line of six people at the cashier. It's like, well, looks like I'm not shaving today. I'll just get on out of here. I'll Amazon that to the house.

[Matt Jones]

That's exactly right. Like you, you go to a store in part so you can get it and get out. And they've made so many steps. I, I thought to myself, I have bought less stuff at CVS and Walgreens because of this. And now it's been confirmed. They said it's hurt their sales significantly more than the thefts did originally.

[Shannon The Dude]

Yeah, you're obviously not alone. The good outweighs the bad, man. They need to sell more product.

[Matt Jones]

I feel like you, though, would be somebody that waited.

[Shannon The Dude]

I do wait.

I can't remember which of the brands of those I was in recently, but it felt like half the store was locked up.

If you go to New York, if you're in New York City, I don't know if any of you've ever had to go to a CVS or Walgreens in New York. The whole store is locked up. The whole store. Like, you can't get anything. And. And it's just one or two people just taking their key around and just unlocking everything.

Yep. Actually, that's where I was in Portland, Maine. It's the bigger cities where just everything's locked down. But it's a huge inconvenience.

We just stopped on our trip somewhere. We went into one of those stores, and it was like, I think I went in to get some cold medicine or Advil. And everything was locked up, up and down, all the entire aisle.

No more. Now they're. They're back toe free. So I guess everybody will start stealing again.

I mean, it couldn't have worked out better, right? Like there. You know, I don't. It's. You remember how much I used to use the marriage analogy when we talked about Cal, Remember? And I said that. I. I use the analogy of sometimes a relationship goes complacent and then the new guy, then they break up, and then the guy gets in shape and he goes. And he meets the. The new woman and he's like, well, that didn't happen. He didn't go get in shape. He stayed the way he was. He's now unhappy. We, on the other hand, found the actual love of our life. Like the high school. We went back to our high school girlfriend who we probably should have ended up with anyway, but life had kind of took us away. You know, we fell for the. And now we're reestablishing this connection, and we're like, remember when we went to the playground in 10th grade and you have all of these memories and like, that's how it turned out for us.

Yeah. He's taking us back to where we first kissed on the playground.

That's where he took. And we. Diarrhea.

Diarrhea. The diarrhea went with the chicken.

And let me say this to all of you. There's a guy named John Neighbors. Okay? He hosts a radio show in Arkansas. Nice guy. He's been. We've been friendly for five years. I've been on his show a lot. He does. He's not exactly like us, but he does a show. He does a post game show. He asked me a few weeks ago. He was like, when? When Kentucky plays Arkansas. I'm coming down there Thursday and I'm going to be there two days. I need a place to do my show. Can I do it at your bar? And I was like, yeah, he does it his shows at like 2 o'clock. I was like, it won't be that crowded. There might not be very many people here. You're more than welcome to have the bar. When he comes. We need to all come and bring him gifts. Right? Because he was one of the biggest advocates of Cal coming. He has that video you've seen on the Internet where he's interviewing students and they're all like, yeah, eat it. We, I think, should not only be good hosts, we should come him give him gifts of praise on that Thursday and Friday, Ryan, for. For pushing that.

So I guarantee I'm going to get something to bring it in there for him. So yeah, we need to write a thank you card for all those people that were pushing for California.

Starbucks, by the way I keep reading all these facts, has a new rule they've just put into place. You now no longer will be able to go to Starbucks unless you buy something. The days of just coming in and being able to sit and use their WI Fi, you will not be able to go to Starbucks and go in unless you buy something. I think it has to be at least $5 in order to sit in there. What do you think of that rule?

[Drew Franklin]

Drew, for one, I didn't know Starbucks had anything cheaper than $5. I honestly. I mean, I've gone and worked in Starbucks. I bought stuff because I wanted a coffee. I didn't know people were already going in there, not buying things.

[Matt Jones]

There's a guy at this Starbucks on campus. I don't know if anybody goes to that Starbucks on Chevy Chase. Right in the Chevy Chase shopping center. But there's a guy, and if you go there, you know who I'm talking about. He's there all the time, day or night, listening to his headphones, reading a book. And he's like taking notes and he's dancing. He. I, I'm not kidding you. He sits there, he listens to music, he dances and he writes and he writes. I've looked. It looks like he writes in what it. What his secretaries used to write.

[Shannon The Dude]

Shorthand.

[Matt Jones]

Shorthand. It looks like he's writing in shorthand because it's just gibberish. And he, he does it all times of day. And I've been there, probably seen him there 25 times. Never seen him have anything from Starbucks in his hand. And I've often wondered, how does Starbucks just let this guy just be in here for hours and hours on time? I guess the answer, Ryan, is they're not going to do that anymore.

[Shannon The Dude]

I can see why they're making this move. You know, you can't just come in and use that place as your office and not patronize them and buy some drinks or food or something. We wouldn't want somebody to come in here and sit here all day and not buy anything and take up a table.

[Matt Jones]

We've had that happen. We've had that happen. Or somebody buy one soda and then water.

[Shannon The Dude]

Mary had somebody just bottle water.

So I get it. I mean, I actually complete think their rule is completely understandable.

Yeah. In some places, maybe not Lexington, but even bigger cities, people running and just use the bathroom. I think they. That's.

Now you have a code. Yeah. Let's talk about the rest of the SEC for a second. Last night, Alabama loses at home to ole miss by 10. Missouri beats Florida on the road. So Florida and Alabama, two of the best teams in the conference, lose at home to Ole Miss in Missouri. Say more about Florida and Alabama. Drew or say more about Missouri and Ole Miss?

[Drew Franklin]

I kind of think Missouri and Ole Miss, Missouri especially. I didn't think they were going to be very good. But what are they, 3 and 1 now?

[Matt Jones]

Beat Kansas earlier this year.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah, I mentioned earlier. I think they're like up to number 30 in Ken Palm. So I think Missouri especially, it says more about those teams. And the big statement last night I'm looking at on TV right now, Auburn without broom still looks very good there. I think Bruce is going to get.

[Matt Jones]

Him one this Auburn's the best team in the country. Like Auburn's got a legitimate chance to win the national championship. Now that broom is coming back. I think to me, they're probably the best team in the country, above everybody else is all. You know, we have to go to Ole Miss and Missouri. Those were two games that I thought, you know what, you could steal either one of those. Do they become harder now that they're both road games?

[Shannon The Dude]

I think, like Drew said, I think we're seeing that Missouri is like maybe like Georgia a lot better than any of us thought going into the season. We talked about all the other SEC team. Didn't talk about Georgia or Missouri at all. Ole Miss, you know, they beat Alabama at Alabama by 10. And they. That game was on the same time after our game, they dominated. Missouri was up by Florida by like 18 points. I think at one time, the first.

[Matt Jones]

Half, Missouri was annihilating Florida. Florida lost, ended up losing by one. But I mean, they, they were annihilating. I'll note Missouri. We finished the season at Missouri. Yeah. So, like we are. Our last game of the year is at Missouri. That will be a crazy atmosphere on the final game of the season with them being good.

[Drew Franklin]

That was going to be. Bring my point. Always think about teams that aren't doing well. You get to those last games, they're. They're kind of ready for it to be over with. Kind of wanted that to be the case. Missouri, it's not going to be. They're 14 and three. That's their senior day. You're going to get a good environment at the end of the year instead of a team that's ready to call it quits.

You know, our kids in Lexington have not been to school since December 20th. As a dad who has not only Josiah, but Josiah's best friend, staying at my house every day, every night, get him out, get him back to school, for crying out loud.

[Matt Jones]

Okay, so I'm just playing devil's advocate. There are still streets in Lexington and Louisville that you cannot drive on. I mean, if you are a bus, I mean, you can drive on them if you have a car. But like there are still streets that are completely ice in Louisville. My street in Louisville is complete ice. A bus could not go down that street. Now, a car can, but a bus can't. And so since they usually make these decisions based on buses and remember the school district doesn't control the roads getting cleaned. That's a different, they're different things. What would you do if you were them? I mean, like, because if they have school and a bus crashes due to the ice, people are not gonna be happy about it. So, like, what, what do you, what do you do?

[Shannon The Dude]

You know, I said get him back to school, but my street is like an ice rink. You come, you, you just slide through the stop sign, you slide out into the street. I mean, I, I get it because it is like an ice rink where I live right now.

[Matt Jones]

Well, what was like, is there a way to do it to where you go? Okay, look, you folks may have to like, like on my street, you can't walk down my street, but you could walk to a block and you'd be fine. Do you just tell the kids maybe you're going to have to walk a block away from your house for a day or something?

[Shannon The Dude]

I think you could have maybe looked at that. But the temperature this morning was like what, 9 degrees? I don't think they want, you know, the elementary school kids out in that temperature.

[Matt Jones]

But I mean, it's been a long time.

[Shannon The Dude]

Yeah.

Now it is supposed to warm up tomorrow, so maybe that changes it. But like it's going to be cold. Supposed to be freezing this weekend and next week. Like, I mean, at some point they do have to go back to school, don't they?

Yeah, they've got, you know, NTI going on. So Josiah and his friend Woke up at 1:00 yesterday afternoon.

[Matt Jones]

I said, why are you always telling your kids for not doing. You always telling your kid for skipping the things they're supposed to do.

[Drew Franklin]

He got up at 1am and did.

[Shannon The Dude]

His homework, 1pm So I asked him, I said, do you guys at least log in so you can check your attendance? He goes, yeah, we log in. That's really all we got to do. Miss this last semester of their senior year. I don't think there's a whole lot going on for them right now.

[Matt Jones]

I love how you just throw your kid under the bus left and right. Like, oh, my kids got up at 1pm There could be future employers listen.

[Drew Franklin]

It's true. He has an interview today. I shouldn't have said that.

I feel like. I feel like he'll probably be able to get that since you read the endorsements for that place. If he doesn't, that's really on him. I do want to note, I've been asked a lot about. About we're on in London, Kentucky, or we were on in London, Kentucky. You may remember that, like, I made some criticisms of that situation in London with the guy getting shot and the police and the weed eater. Magically, we're not on in London anymore. After being on in London for like nine years on the same station, they just pulled the plug on the show Monday. Now, I'm not saying. I'm just saying it's interesting to me. But after nine years of being on there, they just pull it. And we asked and they said, well, we're focusing on the music. Well, it's always been a music station. So I. That's interesting. Me. Now we're going to try to find there's some bigger stations in London. We're going to try to get movie move to one of them and hopefully that'll happen. But it's interesting to me, Drew. You know, one of the things that people are alleging in London is the government there has its hands in everything and gets involved in everything. And then all of a sudden, after nine years of being on there, we talk about London one week and we talk about how maybe they shouldn't have broken into a guy's home for a weed eater and shot a stranger. That then the next week we're not on the air there.

[Drew Franklin]

Huh, smells funny. 1 already miss our London listeners. And I hope we get back in there.

[Matt Jones]

Me too. We've been that we do shows in London at Don Franklin all the time.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah, they're focused on the music that.

Radio station brought us. We did one at Weaver's hot dogs we did at Lowe's Sporting Goods.

We've been on there for a long time. There was a time that that was the only way we were on in southeast Kentucky. Now, now, again, our people are working and we'll probably find a different home in London. But that seems crazy to me that you're on all this time and then they coincidentally switched the music right after the weed eater story.

I kind of wanted a better reason than focusing on the music.

And they play classic country like the music ain't going anywhere.

The good thing about classic country, there's never any new hits.

That would actually be really funny. Amari Williams, best game of the year for Kentucky last night. Only played 23 minutes but rebounded well. I thought he blocked shots, thought he was pretty patient, missed that layup. But besides that, I thought it was maybe the best game I've seen Amari play. Pope said he was the key to the game.

[Drew Franklin]

He was made some good passes like he's done in many games. He also just seems to be a lot more engaged and into it. I don't know if it's just his personality traits, but other than the year, you know, he disappeared a little bit, slouch a little bit. Seemed like he'd be frustrated that something happened a few minutes before. But he is full energy and full emotion now. I know he gave his. He gave the pregame speech before Mississippi State. Maybe this is. He's broken out of this shell and this is going to continue.

[Matt Jones]

I didn't like Kobe Bray and not getting on the floor. I know it's one play, but dude, you can't bend from the knees and the other guy dives on the floor. You got to get on the floor. Like you sit there and reach and another guy's on the floor, he's lower than you. He's going to get the ball every time.

[Shannon The Dude]

That led to a three, right? Didn't they A and M kick it out, hit a three on that.

[Matt Jones]

But I will say they called timeout after that. And I thought that after that break was when Kentucky took it up to another notch. It was almost like I'm sure Pope lit into him for not. For not getting on the floor there. And that may have been why, you.

[Shannon The Dude]

Know, he's 1 of 2 of 10 his last two games shooting the threes. I really thought getting back to Rupp, he'd have a big shooting night last night. It's still there any but yeah, but.

[Matt Jones]

They not been the last couple last two games.

[Drew Franklin]

It wasn't the first time this team hadn't gotten on the floor for a loose ball, too. I remember doing it one of the big games in the first minutes. They need to learn to, you know, when it's out there, there's a 50, 50 ball. You need all your fight when the other guy's going for it.

[Matt Jones]

Low man wins when it comes to ball. If he has his whole body weight down there and you have your arms, he's going to get the ball. So that's why they tell you to dive on the ground is you're. You're never going to get the ball if he's, if he's down there and you're trying to pick it up.

[Drew Franklin]

His legs were almost fully extended standing up. He was bent over, like slapping it with both hands while the other guy's on the ground ripping it away from him.

[Matt Jones]

I didn't realize Louisville was back in school. So if they're making it work in Louisville because I was there earlier this week with all that ice, I feel like they can find a way to make it work here.

Right Mal live right by Douglas. That road's not great but at least around that high school it's not too bad that obviously that's not the whole city but I can confirm Douglas is pretty easy to get to.

If Tennessee hadn't just gotten destroyed by Florida, I think Georgia might have a chance. But what is that? Food City Arena? It is going to be Rockwood City.

[Matt Jones]

Armenia, South Carolina at Vandy. Your Vandy's a nine and a half point favorite. Shannon, are they going to take out the Gamecock? South Carolina, I would say right there.

[Ryan Seacrest]

Next to Arkansas, the two worst teams.

[Matt Jones]

In the conference, probably even worse than lsu.

[Ryan Seacrest]

So I would hope the Vandy would win tonight.

[Matt Jones]

All right, you're taking Vandy and this is the game we talked about how for Arkansas that might have been a season ender. I don't think this is a season ender for these teams. But what if I told you Texas and Oklahoma are both Owen three in the conference and one of them tonight's gonna go oh and four because they play each other. That's a huge rivalry and like, you know, staying alive in the conference is up for grabs. Who you got?

[Drew Franklin]

I think I'm gonna take Texas because their first games were brutal. They've already played number one, number two and number 13, so it's hard to get a good read on them. I think maybe they'll find a win tonight.

[Shannon The Dude]

I think going in Texas was kind of flirting with that. Getting in your second tier there for a little bit of the season to be owing three is a little surprising, but I still think they're a better team than Oklahoma.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah, there's. Their schedule has been tough, but they're at Oklahoma. I'll take Texas. But you know, if you're Oklahoma, you had no losses in the non conference and then you start to conference 0 and 4. That would be probably as big a symbol of how good the SEC is over anything. Anything else?

[Drew Franklin]

They have big wins against Arizona.

[Matt Jones]

Beat. Beat Louisville.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah. Michigan. They could beat Michigan.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah. They got one of the.

One of the winning to congratulate Pat Kelsey. He surpassed Kenny Payne on the all time wins list at University of Louisville.

Did he really? In 18 games, he did more than.

He looks like every game is a different Miami club night dj. He does not look like a basketball coach. No, he looks like he is. He is at, you know, the, the Light Factory in Miami about to throw some. Throw it down on the ones and.

Twos and they just sit there. They don't like, they don't do any coaching at all.

We see, like even last night still yells at Chin.

Oh, I can't believe he kept Chin impacted that first year. The way they used to yell at him.

When I looked over there and Brad was on the bench and I know Cal's got Brad there because he's trying to get him a good start on his career. I get it. If I had a son in that spot, I'd probably do the same thing. But if I'm Brad and I'm watching my dad, his legacy just tank, I'd be like, dad, maybe I shouldn't be sitting here. I don't know that I'm qualified to help you. Could you maybe bring in some actual help and take care of yourself and then bring me in later?

Oh, wait a minute. Breaking news. Shannon running on the Federal Drug Administration is banning the use of red number three in food and beverages, that's the thing that's in, like, Skittles and Nerds and a lot of that stuff. You know, there's. That was one of those that, like, it seems like it was probably bad for a while, and everybody just kind of looked the other way and now. So I don't know. We're not gonna have red Skittles anymore. They just.

Every flavor but red. You know, they've talked about doing this for years and years and years.

[Matt Jones]

I think it actually has a link to, like, cancer and all that. So. I mean, red dot two, fine. You just can't have red dye three. Red dye three is the one. Four. Good. There's just something about that number three.

We all like a lot of the stuff it's in, and we're gonna miss it, but if you read the stories and see what it's actually doing to people, it's probably best that we don't eat the.

[Matt Jones]

And now we have Buzz Peterson saying. Or Buzz Williams saying that, you know, he. He gets excited watching Mark Pope's offense.

[Matt Jones]

I thought Buzz Williams comments last night. I. I appreciate the call. I thought Buzz Williams comments last night were maybe one of the best praises for Mark Pope that we've seen. He. Buzz Williams said, I literally got excited studying Mark Pope's offense because of how well it's run. And I think he was being completely genuine. He was basically saying, look, you look at these players, and he gets the best out of every one of them. And he said, you know, they run. He. He said, I cannot believe how efficiently they run their offense. And, I mean, Buzz is. Can be a little bit of a jerk, but I also don't think he's like a BSer. And when I heard that, I thought, drew, man, what a great compliment from a coach you just beat.

[Drew Franklin]

It was Buzz had me in a pretzel last night. I went outside and did our reaction and called him soft. And he was talking to Jackson and I don't like Buzz anymore. I come inside and Buzz is at the podium saying this team could win the national championship. I love watching Mark Pope's film this and that. I'm thinking, well, dang it, now I think I like Buzz again. So it was a wild Buzz Williams ride, but that was one of the better opposing coaches press conferences. I can remember Buzz was soft about.

[Matt Jones]

The Jackson thing, but Buzz is for defense, like Buzz's defense is as well done as Pope's offense. So for a man who's known for being an intellectual defensive guy to say that about our coach for his offense I think is a very, it's a.

[Shannon The Dude]

Huge compliment and I would recommend everybody look at that because you, if you watch it, you can tell he's being very sincere.

[Matt Jones]

He is.

Like you just said, they just got their butt whipped. You just lost a game. You're still being very, very complimentary.

Of the probably the two best defensive coaches in the country are Kelvin Sampson and Buzz Williams. And when those dudes sit there and say you run an offense, I enjoy watching. I'm going to listen to that and say that's actually a huge compliment.
