And a big part about the stadium is they've got seven youth fields back there, all turf. Those youth fields are turf back there. They got their own little youth program they've started. So they've got a stage out here. They'll have pregame, pregame concerts. So they've got thunder and lightning, the two little horses. I forgot about thunder and Lightning. Little miniature ponies.

But a big win for Kenny Brooks. They've had a great year. They haven't really gotten that marquee home win and they got it last night. And so that was awesome.

Really was. I was watching at home. I didn't get to go and I genuinely felt good about them winning the game, but my goodness, nothing like that. And it was a. A blowout from the beginning. They went up big right away and just never looked back. It got so big I even turned it off and went did something else like this. They're about 30. You start in the fourth quarter.

They also had one of the announcer. I don't know if any of you watch the game. The announcer made one of the dumbest comments in the history of sports. We were up 29 with three minutes to go. And the announcer, Shannon, said, I wouldn't rule off Tennessee yet.

At what point what he then I would wonder.

[Matt Jones]

I was like, I'll rule it off. You know what, sir? I'll give you 5,000 to 1 odds. We're up 29 with three minutes to go. I think we're going to pull it out.

Well, anytime you can beat Tennessee number one, that's always fun. But to do it 82 to 58 and just dominate them. Clara. How about Clara? Strike. Playing with a sprained thumb, went 11 for 11 from the field.

No, no. We got to see how Kentucky size. I mean it's paid off a lot this year, but it really played off last night with Strat going 11 for 11. They had nine blocks, which set the season record for blocks for UK women.

All right, Shane, another thing for you. I didn't know we did this, but apparently Jeff Bezos will fly you into space for 45 minutes. Did you know this?

Jeff Bezos, it's called, like, I don't know, Amazon flight or fly, whatever. But you can pay, I'm sure, an obscene amount of money. They've only done it 11 times. But they'll fly you up into space, and you will be in space for 45 minutes, and you can see the curvature of the Earth. You technically get into whatever the scientific definition of space is. You may remember we talked a few years ago. William Shatner did it. Like, that was. That was kind of how he started. Well, they just announced they're sending a crew of all women up. First time that's ever happened. And guess. And there are three, like, astronauts. But did you see who the other three people are?

One is Jeff Bezos, girlfriend.

Which, like, I'd like to know how that happened, by the way. Hey, honey, can I go to space? And he's like, fine. Okay, I got that. Second is Gayle King from CBS this Morning.

Gail King is going. And then third is Katy Perry. So Katy Perry, Gayle King, and then Lauren Sanchez, who's Jeff Bezos's girlfriend, are all going up into space. Here's my question. Like, if you're Gayle King or if you're Katy Perry or even Lauren Sanchez, who now is worth. Gonna be a bajillion dollars. Right. Would you do it? Like, you don't have to pay anything. They're. Which, if you remember, my ex girlfriend is her producer. So, like, I'm sure she'll be involved in that. But would you do it? Would you. Would you feel good enough about it to be like, it's free. You don't have to pay for it. You just have to go, well, you.

There have only been, like. Only been like 200 humans, 250 humans in history that have been in space. I mean, that's not a lot of people.

I'm okay not going to space. I feel like anything that I could see on that flight, I could probably just get on YouTube and type it in and see it. Right.

It probably won't be the same, though. If you're on.

You know what you get to feel.

You get to feel no gravity. Like they'll be floating around. Like, you see in the thing. Do you get.

It's not doing it for me. I. I just. I would be nervous the entire time that the thing's going to explode and I wouldn't be able to come.

I do want to know how they land. How do you get back to Earth?

Okay, that's a good question. They get up there, and then it's like when the. Dude. You remember the Red Bull thing where the guy parachuted? They parachute it back down so you float back down. I don't know how exactly it works, but remember that guy went to space, parachuted down. It's the same principle. It's apparent that your. Your craft will parachute back to earth.

And just land in the ocean somewhere. And they come out, and I think.

They probably have it to where it's not in the middle of the ocean. I think they'll figure out somewhere to put them.

But there's too many things that could go wrong for me. Like what's, you know, the payoff, the reward versus the risk to me is not the same.

I think I would do it. I think I would do it because.

It would just be chance of a lifetime. You got to do it.

Yeah. I mean, like, you got. Life is short you got to try stuff. You're right. It might be shorter, but you know what? It'll.

And who do you think. And I'll get off here and let you talk. I don't think there's anything you can do to get Auburn in trouble, Drew, because, like, they won a bunch of games without Brute. I mean, they're still good. I do think it'll be interesting to see who we defend them with. I'm gonna assume it's Amari. Would you agree with that? You got to.

I mean, he'll.

Sometimes they go two bigs with Cardwell.

Inside, but BR will eat Car up. I mean, Car and ans. Ansley have no chance against Broom. I think Amari can do all right. Garrison will do the best he can, but, like, this is a game where Amari can't get two fouls. I. To me, if you're going to play Amari 30 minutes, this is a game. You got to do it because. Because we have no one else who can guard Brooke.

[Drew Franklin]

And if you'd asked me before Wednesday night, I wouldn't have said Brandon Garrison. But if he looks anything like he did at Oklahoma, I'm confident he can give some good minutes.

[Ryan Lemon]

I think we maybe found our enforcer with Garrison with that maybe that raging. Well, temper he's got.

[Matt Jones]

The problem is that he. He has a raging temper, but he doesn't play like it. Like he plays. He's actually very soft with the way he plays. He avoids contact. You know, he. I'm going to give you one pet peeve. It didn't. It wasn't as big a pet peeve because we won. But we got two guys on this team that box out facing the dude they're trying to box out. Brandon Garrison and Andrew Carr. When a shot goes up, they put their elbows out like this, and they get called for it a lot. But it also gets them burned because they're like this. And then the guy spins around, gets and gets the. And gets that. Brandon Garrison, he has a temper, but he needs to play like he had. Like Jamal McGlory had a temper.

Yeah.

[Matt Jones]

But he also played like he had a temper. He played like he was tough. Garrison needs to do that.

[Chris Tomlin]

Brandon, Absolutely. Despite the great game he had at Oklahoma, he still, you know, gets pushed around a lot and down the paint. And Drew said it, man. They've got just not Jonah Brun. They got that Cardwell dude who's a big strong guy. Also. I don't know how we match up with both of those guys.

[Matt Jones]

I mean, again, we won, so you shouldn't, you shouldn't like focus on the negative. But Oklahoma is the worst rebounding team in the sec and they out rebounded us. So I mean, there is, you know, we do. We do need to get that toughness amped up.

[Drew Franklin]

Absolutely. And I did a little digging last night, wrote on the website. I found out why Garrison's temper might have been what it was. I didn't realize he lost Oklahoma twice last year in the final seconds. One was a buzzer beater and Oklahoma was waving and taunting him in Stillwater. What we saw last night, he's already been through twice. It was another very emotional game and he was on the losing end twice and getting mocked on his way out. So I think it might have been a unique situation for. He still needs to get that under control. But that had some history.

Think has to have a big game for us to win tomorrow?

Kobe Braya. He's got to come out and just knock, especially if Jackson's not at full strength. He's got to shoot well tomorrow they've got a match because Auburn's going to score.

But they don't score like Alabama and Florida. Yeah, like you don't, you don't have to score 95 against them. You probably have to score 85, maybe.

Even 91 game in the 50s.

Yeah, they don't. They're not like Alabama where like, like they're going to score you. You could probably win drew scoring 85.

84 and I think Kobe's important. But on the defensive end they have Chad Baker Mazzara who plays a little wing, plays a little point guard. At some point in the game, Kobe's going to be matched up with him and he's gonna have to play some of his best defense of the year and still make some threes on the other end. But he's been. It's just night and day difference when he's at Rupp and on the road and he usually shoots pretty well at home.

Howard Schultz, he created all of Starbucks and his son is now fighting in the Indianapolis Starbucks. So that got me to thinking about media fights. Oh, you know, a lot of these times you people like, you don't realize a lot of these media people hate each other, especially back in the day. Less so now. But back in the day. Do you remember media fights from your days of doing it? I have one that I remember. But do you remember one in particular?

I remember a couple.

Well, one was Pat40 and Susan Lacks. And Pat40 just totally went after her for really no reason. Susan was just doing her job.

Not in a fistfight, a yelling. I don't remember any fist fights.

You remember one. You remember Alan Cutler and the dude jawing at each other in the locker room?

I don't think they did a fist fight though.

They were like screaming and like pushing each other. Right. What was his name? Dan, actually. Remember Dan? Reefer Dan.

Kentucky played Louisville in football, and Captain Suntan walked up to me and said, do you want to fight? And I was like, no, I want to eat this sandwich and watch the game. This is like in the press box. Press box for Kentucky. He later added, no context. Just walked up to me and goes, okay, I'm here. Do you want to fight? And I was like, no. What? I'm a grown man. What are you talking about?

Another one with us. We were in Indianapolis for NCAA tournament. 2 of my friends were going to Morton Steakhouse nights, white tablecloth dinner. I pull up a chair to hang out with them. You pull up a chair? We're just all being. And Pat, 40, walks over and just starts staring at us while we're eating. And we're like, what, Pat? What do you want? But I don't know. I didn't know if he wanted some in Morton's or what was going on.

He was a tough guy for a long time.

[Drew Franklin]

Now I know that he went at slacks, too. He's definitely on my back.

How about Dan Dockage as well? I feel like he has challenged you on Twitter to a fight.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah. Dan Dakich claimed that he threatened to fight me and that I ran away, but he didn't even talk to me. Like, that was Docic is the lioness dude in the world. Who's next? Hans is up next. Hans, go ahead. Yo. Hey. It's a little late, but I went to the Oklahoma game. It was too cheap to not go. And I'll be honest, I started feeling just horrible for that school and whatever they're trying to do in relation to basketball. They gave a PowerPoint presentation before the game started, and it was like, how to be a good fan this game. When the other team has the ball. When the other team has the ball, scout defense. When we have the ball, cheer. And it's like, dang, this is a low point. I'm really surprised. I am really surprised, and I appreciate the call. I'm really surprised at how bad that Oklahoma atmosphere was. I mean, generally speaking, when Kentucky has gone on the road in the sec, even if a team gets no One for any game. They get a pretty good crowd for that.

[Chris Tomlin]

Yes.

[Matt Jones]

That has to be one of the worst crowds for a Kentucky road game ever. And it's their first year in the sec. And I remember watching Oklahoma basketball sometimes and seeing crowds like the, it's, their program must have just collapsed.

[Chris Tomlin]

I'm with you. I think the first time Kentucky's ever played at Oklahoma, first time they've ever played in the state of Oklahoma, then their SEC first year, I thought the crowd would be crazy, like it usually is when we go on the road in the sec.

[Drew Franklin]

When I was talking to Adam, who was there for ksr, we were kind of joking about how they had the ropes up to storm the court. He was like, if they did storm the court, I'm not sure they would have filled the paint with the people that would have gone down there.

[Matt Jones]

It really, you know, I mean, it's interesting. You, when, when Oklahoma joined the sec, Shannon, I said Texas will be fine. And clearly they were fine. They went to the SEC championship game in football. You know, they, they're not great in basketball. They'll probably make the tournament. But I said Oklahoma's gonna be the one that struggled, that they're about to go from playing Kansas State and Texas Tech to having to play real teams. And they struggled in football, and I think they're going to struggle in basketball. Like, I, I, I think that Oklahoma program, you got to move to the SEC when you get asked, but I'm not sure they're as ready for it as, as maybe others.

[Ryan Lemon]

Yeah, I'm surprised their fan base didn't show up better for that Kentucky game. When you got to have dollar beer night just to entice your fans to come to see their team play Kentucky, that's when you know it's bad.

[Matt Jones]

There's a big difference between half your schedule. Texas Tech, Iowa State, Kansas State. And then coming to the SEC and also coming in the year. Basketball's better than it's ever been. Arkansas played better since Boogie Flan got hurt and they really are playing better. So I'm gonna pick Arkansas also.

You know, Cal giveth. Cal taketh away. This is the taketh away. He what? He's won a couple games he shouldn't have. Then he'll go and lose at South Carolina. That's the Cal Perry thing. Take the Gamecocks to win their second game of the year in the in conference. Oklahoma's at Ole Miss. Ole Miss is winning that. LSU's at Mississippi State. Mississippi State's winning that. So let's go to Missouri at Vanderbilt. Can your Commodores get another victory?

I think they can. They play differently at home. Even though they had a great road win earlier this week over Texas A and M. I think they win tomorrow.

I'll go Missouri there. I kind of want Missouri to win all the way up until we play them. I don't need them having a few losses and needed to be more motivated already.

Yeah, it was a huge win for Vandy to win at Texas A and M last time. So they're riding a high now. They're at home. I'm going Vandy.

Yeah, I'm gonna go Missouri. I'm gonna take with Drew. I think Missouri gets on the road. I don't think the environment at Vandy will be strong enough to get them through a what could be a play in game for the NCAA tournament. Georgia and Texas. Winner maybe in, loser maybe out.

Who you got kind of a toss up game just because it's in Austin. I'm gonna go with Texas.

I'm going Texas because of Trey Johnson. But if Georgia is allowed to play football like they are at home, that'll be a different story. But I think. I think Texas wins it.

Yeah. So this is a football matchup. You're right. I'm going Texas though.

Now the two big games in the SEC, A&M is at Florida. If A and M wins this, we don't talk about A and M. But they still will be in contention for a two seed. They did just lose at home to Van.

Yeah, they've been slipping it a little bit. I think Florida at home takes care of business.

Buzz Williams should be in prison and A and M should have a postseason ban after what they did Wednesday night. Florida, please win.

Hey, for those of us that are Kentucky fans, root for Florida because Texas A and M is only one game ahead of us. If they lose, we can still get them past them and get a better seed in the SEC tournament. So roots root for Florida. And then the big game of the night, Alabama at Tennessee. Tennessee struggled to win like a marquee game. Can they get this one at home against Alabama?

I'm gonna go with the Crimson Tide just because they can shoot the three so well. So I'm gonna take an Alabama.

Yeah. Even on Tennessee's best day, they struggle to score linear. And Ziegler had a big game last week, but I still think Alabama just has too much firepower. So I'll take Alabama.

I. I'm still in the belief that Alabama may be the best team in the country. Even better than. I know Auburn beat them, but they're still really, really good. So I'm going Alabama.

I just don't know how Tennessee can score enough. I mean, against Alabama, Alabama's gonna score 80 even on their worst day. And I just don't see how Tennessee scores 80. Their offense is too bad. You know, like, over the years, I feel like we have sort of been critical of the RUP crowd, but for Whatever reason this season has been, I don't know if it's, you know, the new coat. Yeah. For whatever reason, it's a. It's a resurgence.

And I think what's happened is there's a group of fans. We've talked about this a lot, but, you know, 35 to 55 grew up maybe 40 to 55 grew up around the patino years, had really become disheartened at the last end of the cow years. And it's like having Pope re energize that group. And I think they've brought that into rup. You know, the younger people are. Are always into it, but I think that the middle age fan is more into Kentucky basketball this year than I think they've been into it in a long time. And I think that's.

And I love that too, because now it reminds me of how rough used to be back in the 90s. I was a kid watching.

[Matt Jones]

Agree I that. I mean, it is a fascinating thing what Pope has done with the fan base. I mean, this fan base just really had not been the same since COVID And then I think this got it going again. I think that Even though we're 19 and 9, not a particularly special Kentucky year, the fans still are just completely all in. Who's next? Tyler is up next. Tyler, Go ahead. Tyler. Hey, fellas. How are y'all? Keep that energy up. Tyler, what you got? Hey, I was gonna see if y'all notice this, because every game, this drives me crazy. Kobe Braya. Every time he has the ball and he's going into a ball screen, why is his automatic reaction every time he comes off that ball screen is to drive to the basket? If he's our best shooter, why isn't he thinking, when I come off this screen, I'm just gonna shoot this three? Well, I think in part appreciate the call, Drew, because guys have been slagging off or, you know, excuse me, guys have been up on him and he's gotten a lane. We've seen more Kobe Braya successful drives to the basket in the last three games than we probably saw in the whole rest of the year combined. So I actually don't mind it, to be honest with you.

My bigger Kobe complaint is when he has an open 3. It's not as quick as he was earlier in the year. I don't know what's changed, but he takes a second. Sometimes he'll pump fake into the defense. If you have the smallest window, just fire it. He's. He's been hesitating a little bit lately.

Again, only took 23 threes against Oklahoma. Like I, I, you know, we should be shooting 30 a game. I, I don't, I, I still don't understand, I'll never understand why this team is averaging like 25 threes in SEC play when Pope himself said he wanted it to be close to 35 before the season starts.

Do you think it's just the defenses? They're just doing so much to take.

[Matt Jones]

That away, but I just see a lot of guys hesitant to shoot like I, I, I. It feels like to me all these guys just are not as quick to shoot the ball as they were earlier in the year and I don't really know why that is.

I, I want to add Andrew Carr to that group too. I know he's not Kobe Brayer or some of the guards, but man, when you're open, take it. He's another one that sometimes pump fakes. We don't have to to pump fake and unless the defense say Andrew Carr.

Myron Metcalf just put out on ESPN. He ranked the top last 25 NCAA double tournament champions. So everyone since 2000 ranks top 25. He says the worst one was 2014 UConn, which I agree. They beat us in the finals. We should have won. Where do you think he's Got Kentucky top 2012 Kentucky in the top NCAA champ since 2000. Where would you put Kentucky? He actually has them where I would too. Although they're the two teams he has ahead of us. I don't. I would have a different one, but.

Yeah. So he's got. I agree with this. He's got number one would be 2001 Duke. That was the Jay Williams batty. A dunleavy boozer. I think that's, that's. I would put them ahead of us. I would actually put number two, the second Florida national team after they had already won it the first year with knowing all them, he actually has them seventh, which is kind of surprising to me. He has second 2009 North Carolina. That's a team that beat. Is that team that beat Villanova. No, wait a minute. That was Tyler Hansboro, Ed Davis, Ty Lawson, Wayne Ellington, Danny Green. That's a pretty good roster. But Hansboro was the best player.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah, I mean, that's a good team. I'm trying to even remember that championship game. I'm blanking out on it. I was going to say fifth when you're asking, so thanks for Giving the answer maybe look good.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah, I think third is right. But I would put us ahead of that Carolina team, but maybe behind that floor because that, that Florida team was dominant that second year. The first year they got kind of lucky, but the second year they were pretty dumb.

[Chris Tomlin]

You know what's crazy? There's been some other Kentucky teams that are better than. I think even the number one team, it didn't even make the championship.

[Matt Jones]

You know, I think the 2015 team, I will die on the hill. It was better than the team that won. Yeah, I mean I, to me, I love Anthony. Anthony Davis is best player of my lifetime. But that 2015 team was better. We lost. But I think you could make an argument that if 2015 had finished that they're the greatest team in college basketball since Indiana.

[Chris Tomlin]

And yeah, they're number one on Myers.

[Matt Jones]

They'Re number one if they finish that game against Wisconsin.

[Drew Franklin]

Just the depth. There's never been a team to have that kind of depth and, and they.

[Matt Jones]

Just blew people out. They didn't just win, they just blew them off the page. They just crushed that game.

We were at Chicago against ucla. I don't remember the exact score, but it was something like 30 to 4 and they were just blocking every shot.

I think so. I mean, there's a lot of ice he had on that wrist, but I still think he'll give it a go being number one team.

[Matt Jones]

I always hate when people do this, but I'm going to do it. As someone who's recently had a wrist injury, it really can be day to day. There are days, especially when I was, like going through the first couple months of it. There are days where I was in pain, didn't feel like I could even move it. And then there were other days where I felt like if I wanted to go play golf, we were at Iowa and I couldn't even shoot A basketball, it hurt too much. But then there were days that it felt better. I wonder if that's how it's going to be for him. It really will be kind of like day to day decision.

[Chris Tomlin]

I think so. And you know, the Oklahoma gave me Misty's first couple shots. I thought, oh, that wrist probably hurting him. But then he hit a couple shots. So I think he's definitely. If there's any way he can get on that court tomorrow, he's going to do it.

[Matt Jones]

A lot of it from what I understood from mine is, you know, you have a lot of nerves in your hands right here. Whether or not they get inflamed or whether or not they're swelling at the moment you're playing. May have been the case that literally the other night he just hit somebody's arm.

[Chris Tomlin]

Yeah.

[Matt Jones]

And it caused the nerve to just kind of move. And like, that may be what it is, honestly.

[Drew Franklin]

And, you know, guys are going to be swiping at that risk. And Auburn's a good defensive team that with active hands, even if it's unintentional. I mean, anything can happen when you got a wrist injury like that and guys are going for it.

[Matt Jones]

Now Lamont Butler, I do expect to play. He was in some foul trouble, but do you expect him to get. I mean, to beat Auburn, he's gonna probably have to play a full game. Do you think he's going to do that?

[Chris Tomlin]

I think he's going to give it everything he can. You know, we saw a gutty performance from him Wednesday night. Another guy we got to think about tomorrow. Amari was limping off the court after the game. I mean, he may not be 100% either.

[Matt Jones]

Don't talk to me about that.

Like and Andrew Carr, I mean, we.

[Matt Jones]

Have had the worst luck with injuries this year. I mean, we really have. It's been. This has been one of the worst injury years I can think of in a long time.

It's not even close. And then the other night when Amari minutes into the game, I think people like me, you just throw your hands in the air like, what are we watching? This is insane.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah, a lot of people didn't see it.

[Drew Franklin]

I was talking about Buzz and the reps at the monitor. I threw my arms there.
