Nmlsconsumeraccess.Org welcome to hour two of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.
Ryan Lemon
Welcome back. Our number two here, Kentucky Sports Radio 859-280-2287 Text Machine 772-774-5254 here at KS Bar and Grill where we're now open. You can come have lunch. You know we got the Sweet 16 coming Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I plan on going to quite a bit of it on Wednesday and Thursday actually. Well, not Thursday. I'm going to opening day but I plan on going to a lot of it on Wednesday. You guys, when you're in town for the sweet 16, please come on by. We'll have we had a Dare county here yesterday. Crossing coming. Who else? Henderson County, Henderson county and Great Crossing. So those are gonna be the teams I pull for. We had one team cancel. I'm not gonna call them out but I was gonna be for you and now I'M not. But you guys, when you're in town, come on out and, and see us over here over the course of the day.
Drew Franklin
Now, there's a lot of years where we've had to travel this week, but being Friday in Indianapolis, I like that we get to stick around and watch a lot of the high school basketball too.
Ryan Lemon
We're going to pick some of those games here in just, in just a few minutes. But let's talk. One person writes. Matt, I'm hoping you and the crew can explain to my wife why such a large part of BBN hates Tennessee. She doesn't understand why we dislike them so much and I have a hard time articulating it. Well, I mean, part of it is we're on the border. We share so much of a border with Tennessee, so a lot of us have had to grow up with them and their fans. When I was a kid, I got Knoxville television stations, so it was all Tennessee. You know, there was a time the only football game that was on television all year for Kentucky was against Tennessee. Jefferson Pilot would show that last game live. Otherwise you'd have to watch them all on replay. And then you go back in basketball, they had a history of a big games back in the SEC with Ernie and Bernie and all those guys. Why else do you think we hate Tennessee?
Stockton Mortgage Representative
I don't know this, but I think they've played Tennessee more than anybody else in basketball also. I think that adds to it. You know, they're our border, they're right there. But you're right, it's deeper in the 13th region than anywhere else because you guys have to live in that.
Ryan Lemon
But also in like the Hopkinsville area, there's a lot of Tennessee hate kind of on that part of the state. You're right. Those of us that had to get Knoxville television, I think feel it even more.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, I think Ryan nailed it to though, just playing them twice a year in basketball going back to the early 1900s, I mean, they've played almost 300 times. Football, you're playing every year. And unfortunately on our side, we were losing it every year. I just think it makes it an easy team to hate.
Ryan Lemon
And by the way, that might go away, the football. I mean, we may end up with a. If they don't go to nine teams, you know, the South Carolina, we may end up not playing Tennessee in football every year, which is kind of amazing to think. I probably would have never thought that's the case. But we may end up that being a team, we play one every two years.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Yeah, it used to be the last game every year, and Kentucky never won. It was long, most of my lifetime. So, yeah, I'd hate to see that game go now that we've. We've won the game, and it's become a good rivalry again.
Ryan Lemon
All right, so the portal is now open for college basketball. You're going to hear Kentucky associated with a lot of names. The two names that I think have been the most prominent in the last couple days. The point guard at UNLV who averaged, like, 18 or 19 points a game. And I cannot remember his name. It blanked as soon as I got here. Do you. Do you know the name?
Drew Franklin
Oh, gosh.
Ryan Lemon
I'm not gonna act like I've seen.
Drew Franklin
Him play, but something.
Ryan Lemon
He's apparently the first. When he got in the portal, the first call he had made was a guy. Was a guy from Kentucky one of our staff members. And then someone people seem very excited about is this big man from San Diego State. He's a freshman. He was all freshmen in his conference. He's big, tall, long guy. You can just kind of see. You could see how Pope would like him. He can shoot. Those are the two guys we've heard the most besides the kid at LMU and then the kid from North Dakota. We're going to keep hearing these names. It was interesting to me to hear Mark Pope on his radio show say he's got a guy on staff that basically knows every player in the country, which is an amazing thing if you think about it. Like, he has a spreadsheet with every roster in the country, and the moment somebody gets in the portal, if they're on the. We should want these. Bam. They contact. I think that's. Can you. I mean, this has got to be a pressured fill. Few weeks for these guys, for him. Right. Like, he gets notices every time someone enters the portal. 700 guys into the portal yesterday. So he was just getting notice after notice after notice after notice.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
You're trying to get ready for Tennessee, but you got to have an eye on what's going on in the portal because, you know, you got to replenish your roster for next year, and you.
Ryan Lemon
Got to do it quick.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Yep.
Ryan Lemon
And so, like, they're gonna have to work on it this week. It's probably terrible timing. The NCAA should change that, but it is what it is.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, they need to change it. Same with football, where teams in the playoff get punished because they're busy still playing and winning. It's the same case with the tournament, but I can't imagine being the guy that has to keep up with all that, especially when 700 something going one day.
Ryan Lemon
It's amazing. Now I heard Brandon Walker of Barstool make a point that I thought was a great point that I want to give him credit for, but also repeat. You know, there was a lot of talk by idiots who don't watch college basketball yesterday saying like Cinderella's over in the NCAA tournament. I think that's a silly argument. But he made, I thought a really good point which is part of Cinderella may have just transferred from teams to players. So we, we think of Cinderella as Florida Gulf coast goes on a run to the sweet 16. But some of these players in and of themselves Cinderella's. That Johnny Broom could go to Morehead and end up potentially national player of the year. That's a Cinderella story. Mark Sears can be at Ohio and have a shot at back to back final Fours. You know, Chaz Lanier can come from Northern Florida. Kobe Braya can come from Dayton. Ansley Almanor can come from Fairleigh Dickinson. And the idea is it's now no longer the case that how good you were as a high school senior determines your college career and determines where you can go. Now it can be part of a process and you can watch and players can rise. Why can't we enjoy that and appreciate that as well? I think that's a great point. I mean whoever wins the national championship is almost certainly going to have a kid who started at some small school and worked his way up to that team. That is in and of itself kind of awesome, isn't it?
Stockton Mortgage Representative
That's the best thing about the transfer portal. It gives kids that maybe were overlooked in high school, maybe they were hurt their senior year in high school. Started out as at a mid major, but yet probably should be at a Division 1 school all along. Now they have a chance to do.
Ryan Lemon
That's the kid that's out. Max Green, right?
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Yeah.
Ryan Lemon
Who plays where?
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Holy Cross.
Ryan Lemon
He was at Holy Cross, but he's from Kentucky. Where did he go to High school?
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Cooperation. So right, it's Cooper or Ryle.
Ryan Lemon
Whatever. Let's just say whatever school he went to, Cooper, Ryle Oldham. That kid did not get recruited by top schools. He ends up at Holy Cross, which is one of them smart schools. He goes and plays well and now he could end up at a lot of places, including the Kentucky Wildcats, his home state school and it wouldn't have happened for him out of college. Isn't that an underdog? That's. I mean that's an underdog. Worth rooting for.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Absolutely. It's worth rooting for. And that's why it gives these kids a chance to. And that even kids that go Division 2, they'll have a chance now to move up to the mid major school.
Ryan Lemon
Yes. And then Holy Cross can go get a kid that's playing at Cumberland if they want, that has a big year. He could end up going to. I mean, absolutely. That is for people who want meritocracy. Isn't that meritocracy at its absolute best?
Drew Franklin
Yeah, I'd say most of the best players in the sweet 16 are transfers. I mean, sure, there's your Cooper flags and a couple of the big recruits, but you know, Walter Clayton was at Iona. Mark Sears, he was at a small school. Derek Queen almost went to Indiana.
Ryan Lemon
That's right. But that's a really good point about Cooper Flagg. Okay, so now Cooper Flagg, who's been in our lives since we were like, since he was like 15, he is the traditional success. And he will still succeed in this system. Derek Queen will still succeed in this system. But now Cooper, a Johnny Broom or a Walter Clayton, who his entire life was told he's not as good as a Cooper flag, gets a chance to play maybe in a big environment. And I think that's.
Drew Franklin
And it doesn't have to be the stars. Troy's best player was at Ranger College. I mentioned how Billy Gillespie recruited him. I mean, sure, he lost to Kentucky, but he was the player of the year in their conference and got to play in the NCAA tournament coming from a juco in Texas.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
So let me ask you this. You think there'll be more coaches do what Rick Patino says he's going to do and not necessarily recruit high school kids.
Ryan Lemon
It's going. What's. Here's what's going to happen. These colleges, these smaller colleges are going to get players out of high school better than they've ever gotten before. Like if I'm Eastern Kentucky, let's take eku. I used to recruit a certain level of player. You'd have to talk to their coaches to know what that is. But Maybe that's player 400 through 600 in America or whatever. All of a sudden they're going to have access now maybe to 200 through 300. They're going to get access to a higher level player. Now, you know, you might lose it. But you know what? You're going to see some dudes playing at some of these campuses that would have never shown up there before. Yeah, because that's going to have to be their first spot because the older guys are taking the other slots.
Drew Franklin
And there's going to be some guys that didn't get the minutes they wanted at a big school like a Duke. And you know sometimes you go to the portal and it doesn't work out for you in a smaller school might even be able to pull someone from higher up because without question have the options they thought they would.
Ryan Lemon
He didn't succeed. But think about like Long Beach State had Devin Askew. You think Devin Askew would have even considered going to Long Beach State out of high school. But now they get somebody like that. So you know there are downs I think what will be hard, it'll be hard for any mid major to be good every year that's going to be really hard. But in an individual year, one of these teams that goes and takes these like if an Eastern Kentucky goes and takes the best player from Georgetown and from you know, whatever and maybe they could build, they'll be good that year.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
And that's what, that's exactly what we're going to see happen every single year. It's going to be a lot of roster turnover because of the Portal. And like you mentioned, the guy here, the junior college I think is going to really take a big jump in talent.
Ryan Lemon
One of the things, one of those guys is Antonio Reeves. How about a little stat for you? In his last five games Antonio Reeds in the NBA has made 17 of 24 3.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Are any of us shocked he's rolling? Yep.
Ryan Lemon
You want to know who the last night the Pelicans played the 76ers. You know who was second in scoring for the Pelicans? Antonio Reeves. You want to know who was first in scoring for the 76ers? Justin Edwards.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Wow. If you want to vomit about last year, my good.
Ryan Lemon
I mean if you want to vomit, don't just eat. We don't even have to talk about reading Rob. And last night two NBA teams played each other and two guys that were on our roster that were not. The two guys that were top 10 picks led their teams in score insane. And we lost to Oakland. And people have the audacity to say we wouldn't have wanted a change. We have four guys from that team that in theory could lead a roster in the NBA in scoring in a game.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
And we lost Oakland.
Ryan Lemon
And we lost Oakland lost the first.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Round of the SEC tournament.
Drew Franklin
I thought we hit the reset and we're feeling good.
Ryan Lemon
I am. I'm just saying to you, when I was watching Antonio Edwards. Excuse me, Antonio Reeves make his fifth straight three last night.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
I'm happy for those two guys, though, aren't you?
Ryan Lemon
I. Both of them deserve it.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Yep.
Ryan Lemon
Justin struggled here. I know, but good for him. And Antonio Reeves always was good. I don't understand why he didn't get picked higher. He's. He's a. He's an NBA guy. Like, he can score.
Drew Franklin
Before you mentioned Reeves and Edwards, you mentioned Devin Askew. How on earth are he and Cameron Fletcher entering the transfer portal? I went to school with them, I think six years ago.
Ryan Lemon
He has another year.
Drew Franklin
He and Fletcher both are on the same team and they still have college eligibility.
Ryan Lemon
Unbelievable. Who's next?
Matt Jones
Let's go to Jordan.
Ryan Lemon
Jordan, go ahead. Jordan. Jordan.
Matt Jones
Okay, let's try Jake.
Ryan Lemon
Jake. Jake. Go ahead.
Drew Franklin
All right, after we beat Tennessee, who's the next. Who's the next victim? And on in the Elite Eight, Matt.
Ryan Lemon
Well, they play the winner of Houston and Purdue, and I think it'll be a good game. Houston's better, but Purdue will have a big home court advantage. But I'll take Houston. I think we would end up playing Houston. Been.
Drew Franklin
After we beat Houston. Who. Who?
Ryan Lemon
I mean, they have brackets, Jake. You can look at them. I mean, I think after that is.
Drew Franklin
I can't look at them because I can't see, man.
Ryan Lemon
I. I know. I'm sorry. But you. They would play who's next?
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Is that right? I can't think of who they play.
Ryan Lemon
I think we're on Auburn side, right? In Duke the one and Florida the four. I think I'm right. I think we would play in the Final Four. I think we would play Auburn if we made it. Yes. On the other side, we would play Duke. I'm sorry, Jake. We would play Duke. And if we played Duke in the Final Four and I was on a plane to Amsterdam during the game, I might explode.
Drew Franklin
Oh, boy.
Ryan Lemon
Then you'd.
Drew Franklin
Then you'd be sorry you took the trip.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah, well, believe me, that's been on my mind. If we. If we. If we were to play Duke in the Final Four, you'd end up on.
Drew Franklin
One of those videos. You'd be viral.
Ryan Lemon
I'm sitting there not able to get WI fi on the fly and having to figure out that would be.
Drew Franklin
You'd be one of the people we see taped to their seat because they couldn't behave on a flight.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah. So, Jake, it would be.
Drew Franklin
Thanks, Jake.
Ryan Lemon
Jake, it would be Tennessee, Houston, then Duke, and then either, let's say Auburn or Florida.
Drew Franklin
All right.
Ryan Lemon
Thank you, Jake. Thank you.
Drew Franklin
Well, why is Our bracket not filled out there or is it yellow? There's a few empty spots. That's your favorite game. Why don't you go ahead and fill that in?
Ryan Lemon
Yeah. Why?
Drew Franklin
Why Kentucky's not hadn't beaten Illinois yet on our KS bar bracket. Fix that.
Ryan Lemon
I'm gonna put.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
There you go.
Ryan Lemon
Well, we'll take a break. I'll fill out some bracket and be right back.

Can you tell me which school it is?
Stockton Mortgage Representative
I think I know this because I saw the graphic during their broadcast. Is it Purdue?
Ryan Lemon
It is Purdue. There are only. Listen to this. There are only three of the 16 schools have four guys who started at their program. Purdue is one of them. Who are the other two?
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Michigan State.
Ryan Lemon
Michigan State is the other one. And.
Drew Franklin
Man, I'm just seeing a lot of transfers. Houston, Duke, Duke.
Ryan Lemon
Here's what I didn't realize until I looked at this graphic. I knew Lamont Butler started at San Diego State. I knew Ortega at Oklahoma. I knew Kobe Bray at Dayton. I knew Amari Williams, Drexel. I don't think I knew that Andrew Carr started his career at Delaware.
Drew Franklin
Two years of Delaware.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
I didn't know until Drew said that. I don't think I ever knew that. I thought he was just a Wake Forest guy.
Ryan Lemon
I don't think I ever knew that either. So I Honestly don't think I'd ever heard that fact until right now.
Drew Franklin
He was a Blue Hen. Started as a Blue Hen. I think his dad played there. He's got some big family ties to Delaware.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
But it goes along your argument about the transfer portal. Think about that guy goes from Delaware to Wake Forest to Kentucky and never would have happened without the portal.
Ryan Lemon
All right, we have some breaking news. Shannon, running on. Just moments ago, Kentucky governor Andy Beshear signed the law passed by the legislature making the driver's permit age in Kentucky now 15. You will be able to get a driver's permit at 15 and for one year you can have a permit at age 15. That goes down a full year from when it was 16 and you couldn't get your license to 17. So now it's 15 to 16. Do you like or dislike the law passed overwhelmingly in the state legislature.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
I can't dislike this enough. A father of three boys, there is no way I'd want them on the road at 15. I mean Andy's got like a 12 or 13 year old son. He may regret this move in a couple years.
Ryan Lemon
It was the legislature passed it. He just had to decide to sign.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Oh, this is bad, I'm telling you.
Ryan Lemon
So here's the argument for it. I tend to side with you but the argument for it is this allows people, especially out in the western part of the state farm to get help. Like let kids help with the farms and go and get the, I don't know, feed or cows or whatever.
Matt Jones
We can doordash it.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah, doordash cow. I don't think you can do that. But, but then it's like, it's mostly like for rural farm. That's, that's I think the mindset of why it was passed. Do you like it or not?
Drew Franklin
I think it's a terrible idea. We have enough bad drivers on the road already. Not to sound like an old man, but I just assume these 15 year olds will be staring at phone the whole time while they're on the road. I, I don't think we need any more drivers right now. They can, I like the age as it is. They can get their own feed.
Ryan Lemon
Shannon, that's two votes against it. Are you forward or against?
Matt Jones
I'm completely against it. As Drew said, we have horrible drive. Half the people on the road don't deserve their license to begin with. And, and that's not all young people. It's some old people. It's a mix of age. But I don't want anybody younger than what has to be on the road. On the road.
Ryan Lemon
Here's what surprises me about it. Okay, so because I would lean. No as well. Like I don't know that we need 15 year olds. I would cut half of the drivers off the road now if given the opportunity. But it passed like 87 to 13. Like it passed overwhelmingly. It was bipartisan. Bashir signed it. Who's for it? Like, like there had to be clearly a big push to get it done. It was one of the first bills passed in the legislature. Who's. I mean, is it just. I mean, there aren't that many farmer. I mean, there's farmers, but they're not a zillion of them. Like, who's for this?
Stockton Mortgage Representative
I don't know either. Listen, you talk about it. I mean, I can see where the, the rural counties that may want to help pass this, but there's a lot more population, obviously in Lexington, Louisville, Bowling Green, Owensboro, that I would never want 15 year olds driving on the road.
Ryan Lemon
But now you're gonna have it. But they'll, but, but while they have a permit though, they'll have their. Like you'll be in the car.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
That scares me too. I don't know if I'd want to ride shotgun with my son driving at 15.
Drew Franklin
But still they'll get their license earlier than they would have. Moving it up.
Ryan Lemon
I mean, it's still. You're going to. As a practical impact you're going to have, unlike supervised drivers. A year earlier it was 17, and now it's going to be 16.
Drew Franklin
Shannon was with me at our. At the public market getting lunch today. We're trying to get a table and there was a kid who was probably 15 on his phone. I said, is anyone sitting here? And he didn't look up. Anyone sitting here? Do you speak? And then he didn't say anything. Then his parents came over and yelled at me and Shannon for sitting down. I was like, like your kid didn't look up from his phone. I'm sorry. I asked him three times. I kind of got a little defensive. So that's still fresh in my brain. And I feel like it's just going to be like that with him driving around.
Ryan Lemon
There's clearly a lot of people that like it. I, I have yet to talk to a person that is happy about this. And yet it passed overwhelmingly. And so you just wonder, well, how did that happen? Who's next?
Matt Jones
Let's go to Craig.
Ryan Lemon
Craig. Go ahead, Craig, because I tell you.
Drew Franklin
Who'S probably for that is the insurance company.
Caller
I'm Guessing they.
Ryan Lemon
They got a lot invested in that. Even though I'm at the payoff, they're gonna make a lot of money. Probably a. They'll be able to charge a lot for that. Insurance for the 15 and I didn't think about that. See. Follow the money. Go ahead. And you got some good points on.
Drew Franklin
What makes Tennessee so bad, but the.
Ryan Lemon
Number one thing is the fans. They're the worst fans. The most unrealistic, cocky, arrogant fans in the sec.
Drew Franklin
I think that's what makes Tennessee most.
Ryan Lemon
Hated with you on that. I think Tennessee has. I appreciate the call of the fan bases we deal with regularly. Tennessee's is. Is the worst. You know, I. Louisville's.
Caller
Louisville.
Ryan Lemon
I've been enemy number one in Louisville. Used to be really less so now. But I have been. I've been there. I know what they do. They're jerks, but they still kind of know their second. I mean, they know it. Like they, they. They may not say it, but they know it. Tennessee fans are arrogant on a level that's a whole nother thing. And they're the meanest. Like, they're mean. They're the meanest fan base on the Internet and really in life. So, yeah, I do think the fans are part of why I really don't like them.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
And it seems like it's the Tennessee football fan that is just the most disgusting, low down, dirty women chewing tobacco people I've ever seen in my life.
Ryan Lemon
Here we go.
Drew Franklin
How many pictures have you tweeted so far this week? I've seen at least two.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
I'm gonna go two a day.
Drew Franklin
Okay.
Ryan Lemon
You're just tweeting two pictures a day of women with tobac.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Yep. And they all look like they're right.
Ryan Lemon
Get these pictures. Is this like a fetish of yours?
Stockton Mortgage Representative
I now have people sending them to me.
Ryan Lemon
You have people sending you pictures of women chewing tobacco?
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Yes, and they're about to be.
Ryan Lemon
Should we give everybody your number of where they can send?
Stockton Mortgage Representative
No, thank you.
Ryan Lemon
No, you can find it if you look. We'll be right back. Ksr. TJ Smith, personal injury attorney. Call tj. He'll make him pay.
Matt Jones
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Ryan Lemon
Ryan's continuing with these pictures. You're gonna get like, tennessee, Twitter is gonna find you sometime this week. And it's not gonna be. I'm just telling you, I've been, I've been the target there. It's happening at some point.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
I'm just posting real photos. That's not AI, that's girls dipping, wearing Tennessee stuff.
Ryan Lemon
I got a question that's kind of throwing me off. The guy right here just sitting with his back to me, he's just like, you know what? He's just kind of throwing me off. He's like, I want to look at you. I'm gonna sit. I'm going this way.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
There he is.
Ryan Lemon
I mean, it's okay.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
There he is.
Ryan Lemon
I just. You're the first person I've ever seen come here during the show and just sit with your back directly to me. That's all right, though. No, you see, you talk to your son there. I just. I think I feel like y'all. NC CBS just announced highest viewed second round of the NCAA tournament since 1993.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Was it really?
Ryan Lemon
The highest rated game was Kentucky, Illinois, followed by Duke and Baylor.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
We're back.
Drew Franklin
We're so bad.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
We're back.
Ryan Lemon
Back. Kentucky, Illinois, the highest rated game. You know, I got the. The order wrong, but I was certain they were putting Duke at 2:30, Kentucky at 5 or Kentucky at 5 and Duke at 2:30. Everybody just has to remember the two programs that drive the car in college basketball are Kentucky and Duke. From a television perspective, they're always going to do that. And they did it again this weekend. But for all the people who say nil Portal, it's ruining basketball. Highest rated tournament since 1993. First and second round does not surprise me at all.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
You may say we don't just move the needle. We are the needle.
Ryan Lemon
You may. I'm not, because that's what Caliperi said. But. Yes, but that's just how it is. Like the Portal has been good for college basketball. I don't necessarily think it's good for college football because there's so many players and I think that makes it hard. But for college basketball, it has made the sport older, which has made a higher quality of play. It has made it to where lots of teams can compete. It is. The portal has been a 100% positive in nil. Guys are staying in school. Tate, you mentioned DJ Wagner. DJ Wagner might come back again without nil. He's gone.
Drew Franklin
Sure.
Ryan Lemon
Or take away. He might come back without nil gone. That's just how it is.
Drew Franklin
And sure, in this first weekend of the tournament, we didn't get the. The. Cinderella's taken down a Goliath. Like we have won occasionally. But how exciting are these. This next. Next weekend? I mean, there's a 10 seed in the. In the field and it's Arkansas. That might be one of the Most talented teams.
Ryan Lemon
Look at these games. I mean, none of these games are bad. You got Auburn, Michigan. That should be great. Ole Miss, Michigan State, Florida, Maryland, Texas Tech, Arkansas, Duke, Arizona, BYU and Alabama. There might not be a scoreboard that can keep up with that one. Houston and Purdue, Kentucky and Tennessee. That's not one bad game.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
That's right. They're all good games.
Ryan Lemon
Those out of those sweet 16 Cinderellas.
Drew Franklin
Are fun, but they, they. The second weekend they usually, I mean, there's been a few cases go farther, but they usually get smoked. It makes for a bad game during the second weekend.
Ryan Lemon
You want upsets in the first round, you want chalk in the Sweet 16. You want games.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
You want the better games.
Ryan Lemon
You want the games where both teams are good. And we're going to, we're going to get that this year. Do you, ryan, have a 23 and me account?
Stockton Mortgage Representative
I don't even know what that is, Drew.
Ryan Lemon
You do have.
Drew Franklin
I got on it. I got on last night and it's probably too late, but I deleted every possible thing I could have on there. Even though I've already sent in whatever I sent in.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
What is it?
Ryan Lemon
Did you. Did you. Do you have a 23 in me?
Matt Jones
No. Have an ancestry.
Ryan Lemon
Okay. So you could like, I guess 23andMe. What did you send in you.
Drew Franklin
It's been a while. I think maybe swab of my. I really don't remember.
Matt Jones
I remember what I had to do. You had to like spit in a test tube and send it up.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, there it was.
Ryan Lemon
Rub things on yourself to give them pieces of yourself. Wow.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Maybe I should have joined.
Drew Franklin
Brian leaves DNA in other places.
Ryan Lemon
Okay, that's enough. And they ended up. And you could send it in and then they would tell you like who you were related to.
Drew Franklin
Right. Where you're from. It even says like you're likely to sleep until 8am or you're likely to have this or do this.
Ryan Lemon
But it would tell you like, who your great great grandfather was or things like that.
Drew Franklin
I learned the breakdown of, you know, what parts of the. The world I'm from and, you know, all that.
Ryan Lemon
Okay. So you could do that and people did it. 15 million people send in their DNA to 23andMe. Well, they've declared bankruptcy. And as part of the bankruptcy petition, the judge. This is what happens when you go through bankruptcy. They take the various parts of your business and they sell them so that you can pay back all the people you owe money to. Right. So that's how a bankruptcy works. So one of the things all 23andMe really has is the name. But then they also have 15 million people's DNA. Right? And there's value in that. Like, when Drew signed up, he gave away his DNA, and he probably signed a paper that said they get to keep it. So now 15 million people's DNA is for sale, and there are people worried, like, we don't know who they're gonna sell it to. They're not sure if the courts will limit. I bet the courts limit who can buy it. I don't think they're gonna let.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
But.
Ryan Lemon
But you never know. So they're encouraging people, if you had a 23andMe account, go delete all your DNA, and you said you did it.
Drew Franklin
I mean, it's too late. It's already out there. I hit the revoke, and I don't consent to this, but I just assume it's too late for. For that to come back.
Ryan Lemon
So are you worried that, like, people are gonna walk around and they might create little Drews, like. No.
Drew Franklin
No. I mean, I'm not really that worried, but when I saw it, I mean, what did it hurt for me to log in and hit delete a couple times? I'm not, like, paranoid about it. I can't undo it. But it is. It's not a pleasant thought to know that just a random company, country, whatever, could end up with 15 million people's DNA is not just their DNA. I mean, your whole ancestry history they have on there, there's a lot of information they find.
Ryan Lemon
Shannon, you're a conspiracy theory guy. Are you worried that some company's going to buy up 15 million people's DNA and, you know, I don't know what they're going to do with the thing.
Matt Jones
Like, you could create a virus out of the DNA. I guess they could.
Ryan Lemon
I don't know. I guess if you knew, if you had everybody's DNA, I guess you could pick vulnerabilities for a virus, maybe. If you want to be real sinister.
Drew Franklin
I know that's what Reddit told me.
Matt Jones
I guess if you could do, like, a virus, yeah, that's concerning. But I mean, do you really need that many people's DNA? I think you could just do it with one or two. So we'd all be screwed, regardless.
Ryan Lemon
Example of what I've talked about for years, and you're going to keep hearing me talk about how easily we are volunteering to give our information out. Like, we are consenting to give our information out so easily. And the government has already shown they're not going to protect it like they're not and I don't know, like I don't. Before our generation dies, something's going to happen that's going to be because of how we consented to giving all of our personal information away so we could do the Will Smith dance on Tick Tock or something.
Drew Franklin
And all I really got out of it is like I get emails about an eighth cousin down the road or that I have like a 40 chance to go bald. I really didn't get. I didn't really get the information. I don't even know what I was looking for.
Ryan Lemon
They tell you you have a eighth cousin?
Drew Franklin
Oh, I get emails all the time. I should have turned those off a long time ago. Oh look. So and so in Wisconsin, is your 15th cousin separated by something?
Ryan Lemon
Do you have any desire to meet 0 people?
Drew Franklin
0 actually don't even want the emails.
Ryan Lemon
That's a good question. Do you have design? Like if you found out you had a long lost family member that was right there, would you want to know me personally?
Stockton Mortgage Representative
I wouldn't, but I like my sons are all three adopted. I can see where they maybe want to, you know, research and find.
Ryan Lemon
I was.
Drew Franklin
There's been a big reaction to the news of people saying I've actually found my sister because of this. So yes, it seems bad, but people that were actually looking for relatives and.
Ryan Lemon
I know this hasn't happened, but this is a theoretical question. Let's say you had a brother that your parents just never told you about for whatever reason and maybe you get put it up for adoption or whatever. And now at this stage of your life, would you want to know that?
Stockton Mortgage Representative
I absolutely would want to know that.
Ryan Lemon
And you'd want to go meet him.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
I would definitely want to go.
Ryan Lemon
What if you found out like some people did from 23andMe that like the person they thought was their father wasn't their father.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
It's got to be devastating sometimes for people.
Ryan Lemon
But would you want to know that or would you rather just want to live your life? Like I didn't need to know that.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
I think me, I would, I would not want to know. I would just. My dad is my dad and I don't care if the DNA test says he's not. The guy who raised me is my dad.
Ryan Lemon
Okay, what about you? Would you want to know?
Drew Franklin
Yeah, I mean if I found out a brother, Heck yeah, brother.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
We got years to catch it up. Yeah, yeah. What would you do?
Ryan Lemon
I don't need to know anything. Like if life is good, why do you want to add Complications to it.
Drew Franklin
I'm not saying I really would.
Ryan Lemon
I mean, what do you want to have in common with this guy?
Drew Franklin
DNA?
Ryan Lemon
Okay, so you all share blood, but like, maybe you didn't grow.
Drew Franklin
I mean, what if I'm over for video games?
Ryan Lemon
As a dad of adopted kids, more than anything, what it means to have a brother is not really sharing your blood with them. It's the life experiences that you had. If I meet a person at this age, I feel like it's just gonna be like, awkward.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Well, that's why I think you're the good, the best person. Ask this question because you're an only child. Would you wish you maybe you'd had a brother? This may be a way you can find a long lost brother.
Ryan Lemon
Like, do I wish I'd had a brother? I don't know. I mean, I felt like everything went pretty well as it was. I think I am closer to my friends because I don't have a sibling. It makes it to where you form.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Like those relationship bonds a little stronger.
Ryan Lemon
Anyway, just so you know, everybody's gonna have your DNA if you went to 23andMe and there's gonna be little Drews running around.
Drew Franklin
Who's next?
Matt Jones
Let's go to Chris.
Ryan Lemon
Chris, go ahead, Chris.
Caller
Hey, Matt. First time, long time.
Ryan Lemon
Who?
Caller
I'm a fellow Democrat and lifelong UK fan and I just had a couple comments. One about UK and one about U.
Ryan Lemon
Of L. Well, quickly.
Caller
I love that, love this team and almost forgot how much fun March Madness could be.
Ryan Lemon
I agree.
Caller
I graduated from UK in 1990, so I was there during the scandal as well. As well as Patino's first season. And with U of L and Pitino bouncing back this season, I've been thinking about how most of the major players besides Andre McGee have had some kind of positives since the various scandals. UFL is back to being a winning program. Patino is having a career renaissance. Katina Powell wrote a book and Karen Cipher experienced the best 15 seconds of her life.
Ryan Lemon
All right, all right. I appreciate the. I wonder where it was going for that joke. I. You know, it is interesting how think about this. Remember the Adidas, the FBI scandal and all that?
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Yes.
Ryan Lemon
Do you remember who all the major players were in that? Virtually all of them have had their careers skyrocket. Rick Patino, Sean Miller is the new coach at Texas. Will Wade is a new coach at NC State. All these guys who were part of a scandal that seemed like this major scandal, they're all seeing their careers flourish because basically what was illegal is now legal, Drew. I mean something that was just like an FBI investigation five years ago is now legal.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, they were just ahead of everything getting some practice in paying players before it became the norm across the board.
Ryan Lemon
It is fun.
Drew Franklin
Wait, it was crazy when his wife like writing personal checks.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah, he's making, she was making big ass offers.
Drew Franklin
That was the best part of all of it.
Ryan Lemon

Ryan Lemon
O Box Sister Wine. Welcome back TY Sports Radio. I love this song as Shannon knows. 859-280-2287 Kentucky and Tennessee will be the early game Friday night. So that's good. We I was a little surprised at that, but I guess that's how they worked it out. TBS wanted the early game so we we will be the early game with which is good. Which means the post game show won't end in the middle of the night. And if we were to beat Tennessee, there's nothing better then if you win the early game and then you can watch the second game and like you don't have a dog in the fight, you can just enjoy the Purdue Houston game. If we win, I'm pulling for Purdue even though they'll have a lot of fans. I just think we have a lot better chance of beating Purdue than we do have beating Houston. Who are Houston's like us but better. I mean like literally they're old guys. Little better offensively, better defeat. Like Houston's just us Drew. Just a better version of us.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. Before we even got the bracket out, I didn't want Houston. And then when I did get it, even though Kentucky's in the region, I have Houston winning at all I get past Tennessee, and then whatever happens in lead eight, I'm cool with.
Ryan Lemon
Sweet 16 starts tomorrow. We're going to be there tomorrow morning. We'll actually be on the air during the first game, which is Adair county in Bowling Green. But I have a fact for you. We'll pick all the games tomorrow. But fact for you about the sweet 16.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Okay.
Ryan Lemon
I think there was something similar to this in football, but we're doing it again here to here. Ashland plays Callaway County.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Yes.
Ryan Lemon
Now, if you look at a map, Ashland is on one far end of the state, and Callaway county is on the other far end of the state.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Yes.
Ryan Lemon
Like you, you couldn't get two schools farther apart. But here's the stat. Ashland is 60 miles closer to Canada than it is to Callaway.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
I believe it.
Ryan Lemon
Isn't that an amazing.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
That's crazy. Yeah, that's because it's got to be at least, what, five hours to get to Callaway county from Ashland.
Ryan Lemon
Oh, it's more than that.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
More than five hours.
Ryan Lemon
I mean, it's at least six. I leave the state, but Ashland can get to Canada an hour before they can get to Callaway County. That's crazy.
Drew Franklin
I feel like this is a Ryan Lemon instead of the day. Haven't you shared something similar?
Ryan Lemon
Like there was something like that for football. Somebody Raceland played like, I don't know what, Mayfield or something.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Maybe that's what it was.
Ryan Lemon
It was something like that.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Yes, it was. Yeah.
Drew Franklin
It's crazy that that could happen. I mean, Callaway far west. I remember Madisonville played Paintsville, maybe in football, and it wasn't quite as far, but it felt like such a disadvantage.
Ryan Lemon
So if you come here for the sweet 16, come on out to bar. We have all kinds of things going on over the course of these three days, and we will have all the games. Yes, we will have all the games on the. On the big screens here on prep spin. So we will have all the Sweet 16 games for you. Who's up next?
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Bill.
Ryan Lemon
Bill. Go ahead, Bill.
Caller
Hey, Matt, this first time caller I want to talk about, first of all, with Duke. They. They've got a class down there, teaches you how to be a jerk, you know, that's why Hurley's such a jerk.
Ryan Lemon
Though. He didn't. He didn't go to Duke. Duke. Danny Hurley. Bobby Hurley went to Duke. Danny Hurley went to Seton hall or something like that.
Caller
Yeah, but he read his notes.
Ryan Lemon
Okay.
Caller
You're the most consistent, Ryan. You're the most consistent person I on your show. I love you, you're just great.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
I appreciate that because Mario says I'm not very consistent.
Caller
Oh, you're, you're the most consistently entertaining person on the show.
Ryan Lemon
Oh, that's very nice.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
It's my dad.
Caller
Yeah. The one thing real quick is, you know, you, y'all do these tours and stuff. Be nice if you had a rifle just to win a slot in your office tour, you know, to ride along with you and do all that stuff. It's great. It's so entertaining when you all do that.
Ryan Lemon
Well, thank you very much.
Caller
Yeah, go ahead.
Ryan Lemon
No, you go ahead. All right.
Caller
The last thing I want to say is I listened to the post game show the other night and when you, what you ended with that thing about being a Kentucky fan. Brought tears to my eyes because it was so true. You need, I know it's out there that Mario tweeted it out, but it needs the, the fans out there know to get to listen to that. That was fantastic. Brought tears to my eyes, and I'm proud to be a UK fan because of it.
Ryan Lemon
Thank you very much, sir. I, I, I appreciate, that's very nice. And I, and I appreciate the call. That's, I do believe that. I think, you know, I think that this, this whole fan base and this whole Kentucky, this is a great time of year. This week is a great week because after you've made it past the second round, your chances of, like, flopping in the tournament have kind of gone away. Unless you're like the 2015 team where, like, success is nothing but a national championship. Usually if you get the second weekend, even if you lose, it happens. So this week has always been one of my favorite weeks because it's just happiness and excitement. You know, this is when you get to Final Four week, there's the pressure of, oh, we need to win the national championship or whatever. But this week is always exciting. We just haven't, we haven't had it since 2019. And it's awesome, Drew, to get to feel it once again.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. You've removed any chance of a heartbreaking upset. I mean, we don't want to lose the Vols, but they are the better seed. They're a four and a half point favorite. You know, most people are going to pick them to win. So at this point, you've at least dodged the worst case scenario other than the fact it is a rival that you have to play.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah, well, DraftKings that you can bet the NIT it's going on and it's going on. We had quite a game. Yeah. We did during our off times of who won this nit game. Although I don't know what we're gonna do Friday yet. We haven't decided before we head off to Indy.
Stockton Mortgage Representative
Yeah you not told us. We've not made a decision about Friday.
Ryan Lemon
Made a decision. We will probably do a pregame show in Indy though so if you're going to the game plan on that we will take a break for 22 hours and see you tomorrow. This has been Kentucky Sports Radio.
