Welcome to hour two of Kentucky sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.
Ryan Lemon
Welcome back our number two Kentucky Sports Radio 859-280-2287 here at KS Bar and Grill. Folks ordering this morning already 772-74-5254 big happy birthday coming this weekend to our friend Dick Tamer in Middlesboro.
Drew Franklin
Dick Tamer, yes.
Ryan Lemon
So happy birthday to you Dick Hope you have a great weekend, Joe Pax. Okay, so Joe's driving. Apparently people call it Joe Pax.
Drew Franklin
Joe Pax.
Ryan Lemon
I just showed you a picture that looks like a place that you would produce some pretty amazing fried chicken, don't you think?
Drew Franklin
After you show me the picture. I mean, they looked up how long it was gonna take to get there. It's two and a half hours from Lexington and maybe worth it.
Ryan Lemon
You think it's worth it?
Drew Franklin
Maybe worth it to go eat it.
Ryan Lemon
Looks like, though, the kind of place that would have fried. You looking skeptical, Mario. I mean, maybe we'll send you on a food review. Like that one kid I always see on TikTok, he gave. He gave his first bad food review, by the way. You know that one kid I was telling you about I saw? He gave his first bad food review to a place. I'm not gonna say where it was. I don't want to throw him under the bus, but I felt bad. He's all. He always likes every single place he eats. And he didn't like this one place. It was a place in Louisville. Didn't like it.
Mario
That's a tough look. He's got a big.
Ryan Lemon
Yes.
Mario
I'll make the trip with Mario, though.
Ryan Lemon
859-280-2287. Before we go, the phones, couple things. Nate Oates was in Lexington yesterday.
Drew Franklin
Why was he in Lexington yesterday?
Ryan Lemon
Don't know. He was on a plane, flew commercial. That's also. I thought he was on. He was on a Delta flight. Had not one, not two, but three different people from three different plane angles. Take a picture of him in the plane, which I got to tell you, man, Nate, you can't come to Lexington, not have people know who you like. When I see three different angles of you on the plane, then I know you're on the plane.
Mario
Yeah. He must not know the strength of bb.
Ryan Lemon
Different numbers. But he was in Lexington. So you want to just wildly speculate, would Travis Perry be a Nate Oats kind of player? It was actually the Alabama games where he seemed. True. It was the Alabama games which kind of made me wonder how he was going to play at Kentucky. It would be very ironic if he go into Alabama, right?
Mario
They like shooters. Wouldn't surprise me. Maybe he just wanted to take in Keeneland on a Thursday.
Ryan Lemon
Could be that could be it.
Drew Franklin
My thought went to Taylor Kenny. I mean, I know he could have flown into Cincinnati, but maybe he couldn't get a flight into Cincinnati, so he had to fly.
Ryan Lemon
You wouldn't fly to Lexington to go see A kid in Newport, you'd fly to Cincinnati?
Drew Franklin
I don't say. Unless he had to do it today and he couldn't get a flight there. Would he be coming in to meet with Otaga? Still trying to convince him to go to.
Ryan Lemon
Wait a minute. Well, first of all, take a kid, he's can't get in the portal.
Drew Franklin
That's right. He's didn't get into the portal.
Ryan Lemon
Why would you just throw that in there?
Drew Franklin
We were spitballing.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah, I didn't like that spitball.
Mario
Maybe you rented a car and went to Joe's Fried Chicken after reading that story.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah. Well, anyway, so I'm gonna guess Drew. Just guessing, you would think maybe Travis Perry, right? Yeah.
Mario
If it's basketball related. I don't know much much else could be other than Travis Perry. I'll tell myself Keeneland, though, that he's not talking to Perry. Yeah, a lot of SEC schools have talked to Perry, though, so it wouldn't shock me.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah. Is he gonna. You think he's gonna end up in the sec?
Mario
I told y'all that on Monday. That's what I expect.
Ryan Lemon
You expect him at Ole Miss?
Mario
I would say they're the leader. I did not expect that many schools to reach out to him. I know Florida is interested. Missouri, Caliper reaching out to him.
Ryan Lemon
Caliperi, who didn't even want to recruit him. What if he.
Mario
I don't want him to leave, but I'm glad that these schools are reaching out to him because I feel like our fan base was a little too harsh at some of the schools. They were, like, trying to push him off to Murray and Bellarmine. I think people have been a little too critical of Travis Perry. The fact that all these coaches are talking to him says he's. He has value, even though he does have some flaws.
Ryan Lemon
What, at the end of the day with Travis, are you. Let's just say you were Travis Perry's dad. Okay. And he came to you and said, dad, what should I do? Or, excuse me, yeah, dad, what should I do? Would you have said, gutted out another year at Kentucky, or would you have said, look somewhere else? Let's assume the money would be equal.
Mario
The money's equal. I would encourage them to stay home. But if they're promising more money and more playing time, I don't care how much you grew up loving Kentucky, you some point got to take care of yourself.
Ryan Lemon
So what's the difference in amount of money? Let's just say this is just. I'm just ballparking let's say he was making $200,000. What's the amount of money more that would make you go, I'm going to leave Kentucky and go to Ole Miss? Would it be. I think we all would agree. If it was 400, you probably go.
Mario
Yeah.
Ryan Lemon
Do you go at 300?
Mario
You gotta remember, he was close to Ole Miss anyway in the original recruitment. They were very high up. So he already has that connection. You know, I know he grew up. Kentucky had it on his walls. We all think of Wildcat forever. But he. He really considered other schools your first time around. So if they came by and doubled the money and said, okay, so 300 plus, we don't have nearly as crowded.
Ryan Lemon
Of a backcourt, so that's a hundred thousand more dollars. Yes.
Mario
Yeah, I think you gotta. He's not gonna go pro and make a ton of money.
Drew Franklin
250, like Drew said.
Ryan Lemon
50,000 more dollars.
Drew Franklin
Ole Miss was the first school to even really recruit him.
Ryan Lemon
Answering the questions. 50,000 more dollars. Yes or no?
Drew Franklin
You're a competitor, man. You want to play. And if somebody's offering me more money, it's a school I already like. I'm probably taking it.
Ryan Lemon
Even Epson 50.
Drew Franklin
I might even go. Even money.
Ryan Lemon
Even money. You would leave?
Drew Franklin
If I'm gonna. If I just want to go play somewhere. If I just want to go and be on the court and compete and play less.150.
Mario
I'm not going less.
Drew Franklin
No, I'm not going less.
Ryan Lemon
Okay, so you're willing to go for the same money, but you wouldn't go for less money?
Drew Franklin
If I knew I was gonna have a better chance to get on the court and play.
Ryan Lemon
Let's. Let's assume Travis Perry goes to an SEC school. Old man. Well, take Arkansas out of it. Let's see me. Let's assume he goes to Ole Miss. Alabama, Florida, Missouri.
Shannon The Dude
Vanderbilt's also on the list.
Ryan Lemon
Vanderbilt?
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Ryan Lemon
All right. Let's assume he goes to one of those schools he comes into. Rub. Would we all agree he would get a round of applause?
Mario
I think so. It's hard to tell. There are people online. You got to remind yourself this is just a few anonymous people being jerks on the Internet.
Ryan Lemon
I think he gets a round of applause.
Drew Franklin
I do.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, I think that he would. I think he would.
Ryan Lemon
Now, what happens if he goes to another school and scores 15 points against us?
Shannon The Dude
We should have kept him on the team.
Mario
Why didn't Pope keep him?
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, that's what you're gonna get.
Drew Franklin
That's happened before, you know, with Chris Lofton.
Ryan Lemon
And we kind of the Chris Lofton, though. Chris Lofton. We didn't recruit him, but I don't. But it was because we had, like, four. Like. There's a belief, which I'm not saying is true, that Travis Perry. There's a belief among some of our fans he's not good enough to play. Now, I don't necessarily believe that, but there's a group of people that believe that does. I mean, does. Let me put it a different way. Is there any fan that thinks Travis Perry should be the starting point guard next year?
Drew Franklin
No, not with the roster we got right now.
Ryan Lemon
Okay, so let's assume that's the case. Is there any fan out there that thinks he should have the same role next year he had last year, which is to be the nup when people got hurt, the number one point guard off the bench, that maybe we shouldn't have gone and gotten Aberdeen and we should have left him? Does anybody believe that? No.
Mario
I mean, he was off.
Ryan Lemon
I think there are fans that do believe.
Drew Franklin
I think there are some believe. But I think we saw. I think Colin Chandler even leapfrogged him as far as being a backup point guard.
Ryan Lemon
So if Ole Miss, Alabama, Florida, says you're the backup point guard, do our. Does our fan base believe Mark Pope should have said you're the backup point guard? My answer to that is no. I don't think Mark Pope should have said that. But him not saying it is probably why he left. So I guess what I'm saying is if he comes back here with another school and wins or plays well, I still don't know what you wanted Mark Pope to do.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, right.
Mario
And I. My understanding is some of these offers are more money, too. So it's a combination of playing opportunity and more money. That's why he has to consider that.
Ryan Lemon
Would you rather Kentucky not have gotten Jaden Quaintance to make for the money that they paid him to make sure Travis Perry stay?
Drew Franklin
No. No. I guess the. The argument is, is Aberdeen.
Mario
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
I think when he came to Kentucky, I think that kind of cinched the deal. Travis.
Ryan Lemon
Okay, so let's put it this way. Would you rather have Aberdeen or Perry next year? Because ultimately, that was the decision. I'm a big believer. Before you criticize somebody, you have to put yourself in their shoes and see what decision would you have made? You're faced with Travis Perry's folks say, if you get Aberdeen, we're leaving. If you're Mark Pope, are you taking Aberdeen or are you taking Pink?
Mario
Listen, I love Travis Perry and I think people are being too critical. But you, you have a job to have your best roster. And Aberdeen just won a national championship. Probably would have started in Florida if they weren't so loaded. So, yes, you have to get Aberdeen.
Ryan Lemon
Shannon, who are you gotta get?
Shannon The Dude
I mean, the guy just won a national championship with Florida. Why would you not take that guy? He was projected to be in their starting lineup next year. You wouldn't take that guy. Of course you would.
Ryan Lemon
I love Travis Perry. He was in this bar his freshman, sophomore, junior and senior year at the state, the state championship. I love Travis Perry. It's a business.
Drew Franklin
It is a business.
Ryan Lemon
You're taking Aberdeen, in my opinion. What are you doing?
Drew Franklin
I make it unanimous. I think you do. I mean, the dude is a proven winner. Travis is still trying to prove himself. So I think you take Aberdeen.
Ryan Lemon
Okay, so we're unanimous. I guess I would ask the fans, 7, 7, 2, 7, 7, 4, 5, 2, 5, 4. What do you think? Because here's what I think is going to happen. Let's say he goes to Vandy and he comes in here and scores 15, which is something I could see happening.
Drew Franklin
Absolutely, it could happen.
Ryan Lemon
Then what is our fan base going to say? I think that's going to be interesting to see. Who's up next.
Shannon The Dude
Nathan.
Ryan Lemon
Nathan. Go ahead, Nathan.
Caller
Hey, guys, I had a question about nil. So if Mark Pope can raise between 10 and 20 million dollars for nil from private donors, why can't they just use that? And then the part that the school pays goes all to football and other.
Drew Franklin
Sports.
Ryan Lemon
Or is there a cap or.
Caller
Is there a cat?
Ryan Lemon
I mean, I mean, they could. And that might be a strategy that use. I mean, I mean, they could. I think what Mark Pope would say is, why is it my responsibility to raise $15 million? Yes, if they can, in theory. Could you do that? Go ahead. Huh?
Caller
Oh, sorry. No, I was. If they had a GM or somebody, you know, with. They could focus on raising money for that. And then this part of the school goes to other things because more people are probably more. More willing to give money for basketball than football.
Ryan Lemon
But again, Mark, you're still asking. Mark. Mark Pope would probably say, and I appreciate the call, why should I have to raise all the money for football? Right?
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Ryan Lemon
And Mark Stoops would almost certainly say the same thing if it was opposite. So, I mean, I. In a perfect world, if Mark Pope could raise $20 million, and that's what you need, you could just go, well, we're not going to Use any of our school money, because Mark can already do it. But then you're punishing it. Let me just put myself in that, in those shoes. Sometimes at this radio station, this show generates so much revenue that we are asked in some ways to subsidize other parts of the business. And there's a part of me that goes, I understand that. But then there's a part of me going, you're punishing us for our success. Right?
Drew Franklin
Yes.
Ryan Lemon
I think that would be kind of what's happening in the situation you're talking about.
Drew Franklin
So what if there is a booster like, say, Drew Franklin wants to donate $5 million but just a basketball?
Ryan Lemon
Then you would do that. They would do that through Club Blue, and you could do that today. And there are people that do that. And I would say there are more people that actually oddly do that for football, because Mark Stoops has cultivated some really close personal relationships. There are donors who give money, and they say, this money is for football, and that's how it's done. There are. There are donors who go. Who give only to volleyball. I know of one.
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Ryan Lemon
Who gives a decent sum of money, but only under the understanding this goes for volleyball. So that happens, I think, quite a bit.
Mario
I was about to say that about baseball. I know people that are cut a big check, but they say, I only want this to go the baseball program. It's just so that won't.
Drew Franklin
That won't change. Even under the new llc, that part will not change.
Ryan Lemon
Well, again, this is very complicated. Part of the settlement with the court suggests that no nil money can be used to recruit. I've heard people say that no one believes that can be enforced, and it will not be enforced. Yeah, but in theory, that's what it's supposed to do.
Drew Franklin
In theory.
Ryan Lemon
In theory. In practice, I would be shocked if that ends.
Mario
That's originally how it was supposed to be.
Ryan Lemon
That was originally supposed to be. And that worked for about a week. This Mother's Day. Make your mom a great lunch or dinner with no Linda Farms beef. How about that? That would be great for my mom. I could make her beef.
Drew Franklin
You would make her some beef.
Ryan Lemon
I don't know if she would like it, but I think it would be a wonderful gesture on my part.
Drew Franklin
Would you grill it?
Ryan Lemon
You can put anything with Noche Linda farms.com and call 859-707-7004. I put it on the grill because they have the best bit beef. They've got tomahawk steaks, bone in Del Monaco steaks their bone in Del Monaco steaks are named to the f are are named Del Monaco Steakhouse in New York. Okay, so Noche Linda Farms, go ahead and order. Tell them that KSR sent it. They've got all the flavor, all the beef. They'll deliver it. It is no ch linda farms.com I went to their website yesterday to kind of look, they got a new website, very nicely done. And you can order on there. It's noche linda farms.com we'll take a break. It is lunch here on a Friday at KS Bar. It's Kentucky Sports Radio.

Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here at the KS Bar and Grill. Pat's in the house. How you doing, Pat? Good to see you. I haven't seen you since.
Drew Franklin
She's been probably more remotes than anybody now.
Ryan Lemon
That's probably true.
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Ryan Lemon
Her and what's his face Brian that laughs really loud.
Drew Franklin
Big Brian.
Ryan Lemon
Brian. Those are probably the two that have been to the most. We'll be doing some more summer remotes than we have, by the way, if you own a business. We have a new thing we're going to do this summer where we will come to your place but you can't have a crowd. So we'll do a remote at your place. But it. But it's less like it doesn't cost as much. But we will come to your place, do the remote, give you the ads, but we don't have a crowd. And we're going to do some of those hopefully for people who like want to have remotes. But it's expensive to have us for remotes, maybe a little bit less expensive. And we come, but we just don't bring the crowd. You can call iHeart and they can do that. And that's kind of a nice way to go to some different places.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. Yeah. GM Billy kind of gave us our updated schedule of our remote moats coming up this summer. We got a lot of them coming up.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah. One person writes. Matt, I think you are unfair to Travis Perry because he's not from the 606. If he was from Eastern Kentucky, you would have a much more powerful view that he should be on the team. No, I would not. I, too much criticism over the years, have always taken the view that while I want to have a Kentucky kid on the team, like a Kentucky kid, just because I think that's good, you play the best players. You don't. I mean, you play the best players. This is as, as to quote John Caliperi, this is not for funsies, right? So we got to win. And there will be nothing worse than playing all the kids that would make our heart full and then we lose and then everybody gets mad at those kids. Right? We don't want that. So I, while I, I'd love for Travis to be on the team, but like, let's be real, if we were playing next year again, I hate saying this because I, I think the kid's awesome and I want him to succeed, but if he were on the team next year, he would be the third, the 12th or 13th man. So I understand if he, if someone else is offering him better than that, Drew, I understand why he would go.
Mario
And you know, this is just the world we're in now with the nil. Who's to say some of the Kentucky guys that are coming in or already on the team or on down the road won't play a year and then go off somewhere because someone steals them. At the end of the day, your, your opportunity and your. The paycheck you're going to be getting is going to win out over the Kentucky dream.
Ryan Lemon
One person writes. Matt, my wife and I are huge fans of KSR and we also like some of the shows on Barstool. So I was excited to tell my wife yesterday that you, Drew and Mario were going to the Barstool gala. My wife's first comment was, what in the world is Matt gonna wear? First of all, your wife does not have a lot of faith in my fashion. Maybe, maybe correctly.
Drew Franklin
I really think you should go with the Barney purple dinosaur suit you wore to the Oaks couple years ago.
Ryan Lemon
So there's a guy here in Lexington who apparently is like a high class fashion guy.
Mario
Albert Couture.
Ryan Lemon
That's his name. What's his name?
Mario
I think it's Albert Couture.
Ryan Lemon
Couture.
Mario
I believe so.
Ryan Lemon
And I've. And I, I have a person who knows him, trying to get in touch with him because I was like, hey man, think about like this. If you make me look good with clothes, then that's gonna be like, wow. If he did that with Matt.
Drew Franklin
He can do that with anybody.
Ryan Lemon
He can do that with anybody. But I guess it's derby season, and he must be busy because I haven't heard from him yet, so I don't know if Albert's out there. I already have a. A raincour jacket.
Mario
There you go.
Ryan Lemon
From Amsterdam. I think if Albert Couture is out there, I would. I'll pay for it. I just need to know what to wear.
Mario
I went the traditional Logan's route yesterday, and when I was in there, multiple people were asking if this was for the gala. I even had some nice women who heard the show asked if Ryan's okay. I kind of let them know that was a little bit. Ryan's fine. But it's the talk of the Lexington fashion scene right now.
Ryan Lemon
Do you know what you're gonna wear, Mario? Not yet. Okay. Yeah. Well, I mean, you.
Mario
I thought.
Ryan Lemon
My guess is you'll make it work. When you're your age, you can wear most. You get older, it's got to be better because, like, you know, the raw materials aren't quite as good as they were. I didn't know where they were.
Mario
I didn't go tux, just regular black suit.
Ryan Lemon
Okay.
Mario
I'm not going full black.
Ryan Lemon
A little bit spicier. If I can find the. If I can find the right thing. Who's next?
Shannon The Dude
Adam.
Ryan Lemon
Adam. Go ahead, Adam.
Caller
Hey, guys. Had a question, A comment question. I was listening to sources say, and Pilgrim and Sean Smith said that they thought they had the vibe that Kentucky was the cool school. Again, not quite the same as when Caliperi took over, but he said. They both said that they thought that's what the vibe that they were getting with the Portal and high school recruiting.
Ryan Lemon
Well, they would know better than me. I. I don't. I don't know if that's. I don't know if I totally agree with that. I mean, are we the cool school? We will never, ever, ever be a cooler school than we were from 2010 to, like, 2018. Like, we were the coolest school in. In bat. And, you know, do you know what I think changed that a little bit? Who's the player that might have changed.
Mario
That a little bit or said making us cool.
Ryan Lemon
No, going, like, making us not the coolest anymore.
Mario
Taking away our cool.
Ryan Lemon
No, not. I mean, I still think we were. When John Wall got here for eight or nine years, we were the coolest school in the country. I think Zion changed it a little bit. I think Zion flipped the view of what Duke was.
Drew Franklin
Yes.
Ryan Lemon
To people. They went from like the dorky whatever school to. And I think Duke then flipped it a little bit. But I don't think I, I do think, I don't think we're considered like dorky, but I don't know if we're the hot school that's like, let's go there. Because that's where, you know, I don't.
Mario
Know if that's right now with a rich school. That's why they're probably, that's probably true. They're seeing these social media graphics. Whether they're true or not, that's all over the Internet.
Ryan Lemon
I mean, money will make you a lot cooler. That's true.
Caller
That was going to lead into my comment. I saw a lot of just negative comments about, you know, whatever the nil number is. If it's 20 million, 15 million, whatever it is, a lot of negative comments about that as a positive.
Ryan Lemon
Like, yeah, those people. If you're complaining that we're spending too much money on nil, like what do you want? I mean, you want. Appreciate the call. Let me. Baseball is the only sport without a salary cap. Would you rather cheer for the Dodgers and the Yankees or would you rather cheer for the Tampa Bay Devil race? Like you want to cheer for the team that spends money, right?
Drew Franklin
Yes. That's why there are so many Yankees fans even in this town. Pittsburgh Pirates.
Ryan Lemon
Pittsburgh Pirates. Okay. You're a Pirates fan, I'm a Reds fan. What's hard is if we, but if we had the ability to resign Paul Skeens and Ellie De La Cruz, wouldn't we say do it? Even if it was $75 million, it's not our money. Right. We, we'd say do it. So I feel like UK fans should be happy there are people willing. It's not your money. If they're doing it, be happy about it.
Mario
Yeah. If we're not on these graphics of spinning the most, we're not mentioned at all. And I'd much rather be on these graphics. They're exaggerated as the school panel.
Ryan Lemon
I mean, you think St. John's fans sit there and go, I wish we were back to spend money? No, I mean, I wouldn't think so.
Drew Franklin
Do you know they're relevant again? You know, the guy said he thought we were the cool school again. It's hard to accept that when we have a pretty dorky head coach leading our way. He's a self, self proclaimed door.
Ryan Lemon
I mean, you watched the team last year. I don't know that anybody looked at that team. Shannon and Will Were like, these dudes are like the coolest, you know?
Shannon The Dude
No, not. Not that adjective.
Ryan Lemon
I mean, we had like four players on the team married, you know, I mean, they were. They were. They were just a different kind of group. Yeah, but at the end of the day, no matter how much we, how much we pay, whether they're cool or not, it's all about whether you win. If you win, you're cool. Be right back. T.J. smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. he'll make them pay.
Shannon The Dude
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Ryan Lemon
Welcome back Tucky Sports Radio. 859-280-2287. Here at KSBAR, you said. Well, first of all, by the way, my trivia is Tuesday. Get your team together. There are three more trivias between now and the end of the season. The next one is Tuesday. I've already written like a third of the questions. So we're ready to rock. So Tuesday is the next one, so get your team ready. You said you might have an explanation as to why Nate Oates was here.
Drew Franklin
Allegedly there is a horse farm owner here in central Kentucky that is a huge Alabama booster and supporter and that Nick Saban has even flown up here to visit him at the farm. But Nick Saban did not fly commercial.
Ryan Lemon
That's what I was gonna say. Like, if it was a huge booster and he was visiting him, don't you think you'd get a. He'd play for the private flight.
Drew Franklin
You would think.
Ryan Lemon
I mean, he was like, he was Delta premium economy. Well, he was premium, but he wasn't even business class. He was premium economy.
Mario
Those don't even come with free drinks.
Shannon The Dude
So it's a scooper, scuttlebug. What do we like?
Drew Franklin
Oh, this is. No, I'm not going either one. I'm just saying that's a.
Shannon The Dude
Are you possible to do any more scoops anymore?
Ryan Lemon
Have you been scooped? Too scared for it.
Drew Franklin
Well, the one, the Mongoose.
Ryan Lemon
That's not a name. You've got to pronounce people's names correctly. Or just say the kid from San Diego State. He was.
Drew Franklin
I felt really good about that information. That was good, solid information. Decided to go back to San Diego State. But when we said it, it was good stuff.
Ryan Lemon
But doesn't it ultimately only matter when it's over? This is why you maybe say scoop today. But it could change.
Drew Franklin
Okay. Use those words.
Mario
Yeah. Not two commitments this week. Be ready.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah. Two commitments this week. Be ready. You're. That's very definitive.
Drew Franklin
The Spaniard. Dude was ready to go, and then he went home and they couldn't. Couldn't wait on him to come back.
Ryan Lemon
Yes.
Drew Franklin
So they moved on. With that move past, let's just play.
Ryan Lemon
I don't want to talk the details of this because it's. I don't like talking about such subjects, but just make a bet. Will Shannon Sharp ever be on ESPN again?
Mario
I'm gonna go. No.
Drew Franklin
I don't know how they can, to be honest. I mean, not in this day and age. And things like that have been you.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah. Shannon, it's never a good idea when your defense is release the whole sex tape.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, I wouldn't go that strategy.
Ryan Lemon
You know what I mean? Yeah. Like, when that's your best argument. I. I don't know. At that point, maybe don't speak.
Shannon The Dude
Maybe fun.
Ryan Lemon
Forget about the details of it. Here's a little tip. All right. So everybody who has something happen, a lot of the famous ones, they hire a PR company.
Drew Franklin
Yes.
Ryan Lemon
Right. Scott Jennings, who's on tv. His. Like, his whole business is if somebody has a crisis, they call him and he tells them what to say. Right? So, like, people have PR companies, and honestly, it's kind of like a lawyer. People always say, well, if you. If you get arrested and you ask to talk to your lawyer, that must mean you're guilty. I always say to people, if you're guilty of. And you get arrested, call a lawyer. But if you're innocent, you should really call a lawyer. Right. That's even more important. Shannon Sharp, I'm. He has a PR company, I'm sure, but the PR company, he released his statement, and he released it as a text message he had received. Did anyone notice that? Like, look at his statement online.
Shannon The Dude
Didn't bother to retype it professionally. He just screenshot it.
Ryan Lemon
He didn't. He. It's a text message that's on the left of the screen, which means you got it sent to you. Like, he. Shannon, he didn't even put it on the right side of the screen.
Shannon The Dude
We need somebody to handle this whole thing for him. Like, let's not have Shannon Sharp involved in any of the released statements or anything.
Ryan Lemon
Could he not have at least, like, cut it so it was not obvious that it was sent to him from someone else?
Mario
I'd say even copy the text and put it in a nice graphic. Maybe even say it into a video.
Ryan Lemon
Call Mario and have him make a graphic.
Mario
Mario could make a tik tok for him.
Ryan Lemon
I just. When you are screenshotting a text message, someone sent you as your statement. I'm just, I feel like dude, you need to take some time and cuz you're not handling this right.
Mario
Cat Williams warned him earlier this year, said everything's coming to light in 2025.
Ryan Lemon
Well Cat Williams knows but you, you.
Drew Franklin
You work at espn. You think they have to put it. They will put him back.
Ryan Lemon
No, no, not certainly not now.
Drew Franklin
I don't think so either.
Ryan Lemon
I mean you know, maybe one day but not, not anytime soon. Who's up next?
Shannon The Dude
Let's go to Arian.
Ryan Lemon
Arian. Go ahead, Arian.
Caller
Hey Matt. First time, long time.
Ryan Lemon
Who are.
Caller
So I just had a quick question. So like you, I'm also a Chicago Bears fan and I was a little bit puzzled at the pick with Colson Loveland. I know he was a great tight end at Michigan but like we already have Cole Commence and I just didn't think that was like a primary need that we needed to address. So I guess my question to you is at that position, intense overall, who would your ideal home run pick for the Bears have been?
Ryan Lemon
I was fine with the tight end because our new coach and again I don't really know what I'm talking about but our new coach is very like his offense. You need athletic tight ends who can get down the field and apparently this kid is that I'll admit I didn't know his name until five days ago but I thought a tight end was fine, to be honest with you. I mean I think the Bears can be good this year and so I'm okay getting a threat to help us. Plus I think again from what I'm told Ben Johnson plays two tight ends a lot. So now we have two tight ends. That's yeah. Draft analysis.
Caller
Yeah, I'm really hopeful for Ben Johnson but I just ideally for me Genti would have been the home run. But I'm so excited.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah, but he was gone. Yeah, he was gone. I'd love to have had shinty. I, I, I, I appreciate the call. I'd love to have to have had him. He's going to the Raiders.
Mario
Raiders. So did you think my Titans should have taken that trade that was full of picks? Because I do.
Ryan Lemon
Yes.
Mario
I was not happy.
Ryan Lemon
I mean if you listen to the experts, they say that Cam Ward would have been like the fourth highest pick quarterback last year. So if that's true, you know, just punt. I mean you got stink. You need everything.
Mario
I wish I had got back next year. We could have gotten Abdul Carter who's a sure thing and who I wanted anyway. I Was even though I'll get excited for Ward, I. Once it came out with the Giants offered is like, how did you turn that down?
Ryan Lemon
Let me ask you a question. Will. Will Levis start one game for any team next year? Now, remember, that doesn't mean you have to be started day one. He could be a reserve that comes in. But if you. If you had to make a bet, will Levis start one game in the NFL next year for any team?
Mario
I'll say yes.
Ryan Lemon
Okay. What do you think?
Drew Franklin
I say yes because he'll be a backup, and then they just get forced into action throughout the course of his.
Ryan Lemon
Will he beyond Tennessee?
Mario
Unlikely. I think Will. You know, I'm not gonna sit here and act like Will is gonna be a great quarterback, but I still think that was an unfair situation because the Titans were so bad. He was constantly scrambling for his life back there. I think wherever he goes, he deserves a fresh start. And hopefully people will. Will look at him with an open mind and decide his what. What happens at his next step. But the Titans just sucked last year, and he wasn't the whole problem.
Ryan Lemon
I know no details about this at all, so I'm not taking a stance one way or the other, but I just saw a headline when you At. When people ask me, what are the headlines that make you worried about the future of the country?
Drew Franklin
Oh, no.
Ryan Lemon
This is a headline that makes me want to know. FBI arrest judge in Wisconsin for immigration decisions. That's not good. That's the kind of thing that, like, again, I don't know any details. Maybe she did something the. Maybe the judge did something off. I don't know. But, like, that's the kind of headline you see, and you go, oh, no. Who's next?
Shannon The Dude
Rebecca.
Ryan Lemon
Rebecca. Go ahead. Rebecca.
Caller
Hey, now, don't cut me off. Just listen to me one minute.
Ryan Lemon
I can't promise you not to cut you off, ma'am. Like, I can't say that, but go ahead.
Caller
This is for your knowledge. The guy is Arthur Kutcher. If you get a Tops magazine, this month's issue, there's a big picture in there, and it really caught my eye. And the details. The second thing is. This was the first thing. Is Ryan Lemon's picture in there at executrain is the most incredible picture. Ryan. It is such a good picture.
Ryan Lemon
Tops. In Lexington magazine, there's a picture of Ryan. When you say it's incredible, what do you mean?
Caller
I mean he is dressed to the teeth. He looks wonderful thin, and it's really, really good.
Ryan Lemon
Wait a minute.
Mario
He's in this photo.
Ryan Lemon
He. It says he looks.
Mario
Ryan. That is Photoshopped, isn't it?
Drew Franklin
No, it's not. Photo.
Mario
That is. I gotta find this.
Ryan Lemon
No, it's not.
Mario
I've had people send it to me.
Ryan Lemon
She just said you look amazing. I haven't seen you look amazing in a long time. I wanna. Well, you will.
Drew Franklin
I. I saw the picture when I first looked at. I thought, that's got to be Photoshopped because I don't look that good.
Ryan Lemon
Where was the picture taken?
Drew Franklin
Executive Train offices.
Mario
I meant to bring this up last week.
Drew Franklin
I got a suit on. I shaved.
Ryan Lemon
These pictures. I want to see it.
Mario
I'm gonna find it.
Ryan Lemon
Okay, ma'am, thank you very much. I have to find. Wait, wait, wait.
Caller
Hey. Hey, Matt. I need an answer. You were telling a story a couple of days ago about your trip, and this guy really likes, and something happened that night, and it went to commercial. I never heard the end.
Ryan Lemon
He's getting investigated. Trump issued an executive order to have him investigated, but I haven't heard anything else about it, so I don't know what it is now. It's just, you know, he was a guy that I knew, and so I don't know where. Where it is. I haven't seen anything else about it, but.
Caller
Okay, thanks.
Ryan Lemon
Appreciate the call.
Mario
Where's this picture I'm looking? I'm scrolling through the online.
Ryan Lemon
Mario, do you have.
Mario
I had this on my list of topics last week because it was a. Here it is. This is. There's no way.
Drew Franklin
This is.
Ryan Lemon
Let me see if this is really.
Mario
There's no way. That's not Photoshopped.
Ryan Lemon
Oh, my goodness. That is a good picture of you. First of all, who is that one.
Mario
The head's not even on? Right?
Drew Franklin
Krinda. Frankie. She's our boss at Executive Train and she's hired me part time, do some sales work.
Ryan Lemon
That's your boss?
Mario
That's your suit?
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Ryan Lemon
I mean, hang on, I've got a lot of questions. That's your boss?
Drew Franklin
Yes.
Ryan Lemon
Frankie, she's beautiful.
Drew Franklin
She is beautiful.
Ryan Lemon
That's not you.
Drew Franklin
That is me.
Mario
That is not you. How is that not.
Ryan Lemon
First of all, you're way tall in that picture. You're not that tall.
Shannon The Dude
Bucket. They got you.
Ryan Lemon
She is wearing heels. There's no way you're that tall. Secondly, and I love you, but that's not your body shape.
Drew Franklin
That is me.
Mario
You have that suit.
Ryan Lemon
Your body. Your body is not that shade.
Shannon The Dude
Tweet the picture out. I gotta see it. Send me the picture.
Ryan Lemon
All right. Okay, let's tweet that out. Drew, tweet that out. You're saying that's not Photoshop?
Drew Franklin
Not Photoshop.
Ryan Lemon
And you don't have a yellow tie.
Drew Franklin
I do have a yellow tie.
Ryan Lemon
What is that belt?
Mario
That looks like a new belt.
Drew Franklin
I have new clothes.
Ryan Lemon
Your suits, they don't fit. You had that.
Drew Franklin
That's the one I wear when I do go to weddings and things. You guys.
Ryan Lemon
No, it's not. I said sweating. Your pants had holes in them. No, they didn't. You're.
Mario
You're being serious? That's you. Yes. That is your best photo. That's a glamour shot.
Ryan Lemon
You should take that picture. That picture should be on everything you do. That's the best. If that picture's real. And Mario, I do not believe it is. If that picture's real, you should use that picture on everything you do. That's the best picture of you I've ever seen.
Shannon The Dude
I'm looking at it right now. Look at that.
Ryan Lemon
I mean, James, they photoshopped his head.
Shannon The Dude
On a different body.
Mario
That's like a tall, slender person.
Ryan Lemon
That's.
Drew Franklin
That's a short, stubby person.
Ryan Lemon
That's. There's Shannon. That's not him.
Shannon The Dude
No, that's ryan's body from 30 years ago with his head. Now that. That's got a filter or something on it.
Ryan Lemon
Should never see. You ever use a picture that's not that one?
Mario
Yeah, no kidding.
Drew Franklin
Well, I'm holding a clipboard.
Shannon The Dude
And his hair even looks good.
Ryan Lemon
Look at his hair.
Drew Franklin
I got a haircut the day before.
Shannon The Dude
The photo shoot of hair.
Ryan Lemon
Unbelievable picture.
Mario
That's not your body type at all.
Drew Franklin
Okay, that is my body type.
Ryan Lemon
You're not that. You know. All right, I'm gonna believe him.
Mario
He wouldn't lie to us.
Ryan Lemon
But I'm skeptical. I just tweeted to whoever took that you should, like, go. That person better be a full time.
Shannon The Dude
Mario, you're fired. He's Mario, you're out.
Ryan Lemon
Mario only takes pictures from under my nose. You're out. I need those pictures. Tell me about Stockton Mortgage.
Drew Franklin
Stockton Mortgage. You know, another one of my endorsements that I love working with. They are good people. The spring buying season is here. So if you're thinking about buying a home, building a home, remodeling your current home, Stockton mortgage can help you every step of the way. Even if you look like you will look like a million bucks. You know, I can get cleaned up every once in a while because I.
Ryan Lemon
Don'T do it every day when I.
Drew Franklin
Go to a closing in Stockton Mortgage. I wear my best suit. I wear my yellow tie. And we get you to the closing table. Stockton Mortgage, NMLS 8259. Equal housing lender.
Ryan Lemon
When did you get these shoes?
Mario
These are new shoes.
Drew Franklin
I have those shoes.
Mario
Okay, stop.
Drew Franklin
Monday show. I'm gonna wear this suit to Monday show.
Ryan Lemon
No. Yes, you're gonna.
Mario
Mario will take one. We'll put them together.
Ryan Lemon
There we go. Let's do a before and after.
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Ryan Lemon
All right. See? Get that woman to come. Let's recreate the whole thing.
Shannon The Dude
Ryan's not gonna eat all weekend so he can be slim for Monday's picture.
Ryan Lemon
Take a break. Be right back. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. I mean. All right, Shannon, go look. Go look at the picture that Kev Miller.
Mario
I just retweeted.
Ryan Lemon
We just retweeted. That's allegedly the same suit.
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Shannon The Dude
No, come on. That's not even the same person.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, it's the same suit because you can see the. The.
Ryan Lemon
That's allegedly the same. I know you love. You love Ryan, but that's. That's not the same suit.
Drew Franklin
It's just a different pose.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, I love this shirt that's soaked with all the drinks.
Ryan Lemon
Same size in these two pictures.
Drew Franklin
Well, duh. They're two pictures. They're not. I'm not literally standing beside each other.
Ryan Lemon
No, you are literally beside.
Drew Franklin
No, not in real life.
Shannon The Dude
What does that even mean? That shows as drunk as Ryan in that picture on the left.
Mario
I still haven't released all my wedding photos of Ryan. I have about 50 of them. They're just sitting in a folder on my computer.
Drew Franklin
Oh, boy, what a long night.
Mario
That was a short night, actually, Texas for you.
Ryan Lemon
You were home before they threw out the boutonnieres. 771-2-774-5254. Who's next?
Shannon The Dude
Tommy.
Ryan Lemon
Tommy, Go ahead. Tommy.
Caller
Hey. First time, long time. I got a question for Drew. I'm on my way to Talladega for my bastard party, sitting in the back.
Ryan Lemon
Of an RV with some buddies drinking Talladega this weekend.
Caller
Oh, yeah.
Ryan Lemon
Okay.
Caller
Oh, yeah. Real fast and real left, man. I'm. I'm sitting in the back of the rv, drinking some cold snacks, and I remember Drew said when he went there that a man's got to really want it in the infield of Talladega. And I just want some advice from Uncle Drew.
Mario
I've done an RV bachelor party in the infield of Talladega. I did not see a single car or race while I was at Talladega for an entire weekend. Didn't even bother to go look at the track. You're gonna want to burn your clothes when you get home. The smell that I smelt when I walked into my house was unbelievable. You're not gonna get to shower much. My best piece of advice, though, is my group, we all threw in money and we rented our own porta potty that no one else could touch. They drop it off at your tailgate, they drive around. You pay for it when you first get there.
Ryan Lemon
That's a good idea.
Mario
Best money I've ever spent in my entire life.
Ryan Lemon
What does that cost to get a porta potty for a week?
Mario
I want to say it's a little under 100 a person. I would have paid whatever it costs because we all. We had a pack to keep it clean. You didn't have to deal with the public restrooms. So if you see the porta potty delivery guy going around, it's my best advice. Invest in that.
Ryan Lemon
I think that's a Burn your clothes, actually. I really like that idea. I think that's a really good idea. Who's up next?
Shannon The Dude
Good luck, Austin.
Ryan Lemon
Austin. Go ahead, Austin.
Caller
Matt, first of all, the servo ad right before this segment. That is peak Ambien that I don't know if you've heard it. They better slow it down.
Ryan Lemon
I've heard it. You probably slowed it down a little bit. That happens sometimes.
Caller
Second thing you guys may have already talked about, I'm usually a podcast listener. The 20 million dollar or whatever it is for the nil. Is there any Title 9 restrictions with that?
Ryan Lemon
Well, that's a great question. The short answer is probably not. Under Title nine, you don't have to give equal results. You just have to give equal opportunity. And so I think under the old interpretation of Title 9, it still would not have had to been an equal revenue share between men and women. But. So let's say Biden had won the election. I still don't think that would have happened, but when Trump won the election, they've altered the government's interpretation of Title nine. So I think it's almost certain now that it won't be equal, but I don't think it would have been otherwise either. So I. You have to give equal opportunity, which is scholarships, but you don't have to give equal results, which is expenditures. And that's generally been the law for a long time.
Caller
All right, appreciate it.
Ryan Lemon
Appreciate it. That's why, for instance, the men's team can fly chartered to stuff. And then sometimes the women's team takes commercial Now, I'm not saying that's good or not, but that's that, that, that is the interpretation and that's been the interpretation of law for a long time.
Drew Franklin
And it's, it's good, it's getting, it's gotten a lot better the last couple years. I know we had that bad incident with the women's final four and they showed their workout room and they showed the men's final four and showed their workout room. That was pretty disgusting, the difference in that.
Ryan Lemon
But that was embarrassing. Yeah, that was embarrassing. But they've gotten better. The NBA's 82 game grind is done. It is the playoffs. Last night the Thunder blew a 32 point lead. And then that's probably maybe like Cox gets picked seventh round.
Drew Franklin
Never thought Dion Walker would fall this way. He's fallen the way going into last season he was a guaranteed top 10 pick, I think.
Ryan Lemon
Apparently. I talked to one of my ESPN friends who's all into the draft who told me he went to all the workouts way out of shape and they were like, if you can't be out of shape when you know you need to be, what's it going to be like when you, when you play? Thank you folks very much for coming. We appreciate it. This has been Kentucky Sports Radio.
