By the way, you all were way off on the amount of money they get.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah, I saw that.
Matt Jones
Yeah, you guys were like 3.5 million, 1.5. It was $37,000.
Ryan Lemon
I thought they got like a really high percentage.
Matt Jones
That is not a high percentage. I think that's like 1% or something like that. But nevertheless or no, it's like point one but still nice. The a vision auto glass text machine is 772-774-5254 in this edition sponsored by the T.J. smith Law Office. If you call T.J. i'll make them pay. First question today, why are you wearing a suit?
Ryan Lemon
Well, you know, after my photo and tops and lex for a secu train was ridiculed, little Mario decides he's going to do a photo shoot today with me and my so he's going to.
Matt Jones
Shannon, I think, take photos of Ryan and compare them to the Photoshop. Yeah.
Shannon The Dude
And I don't want any filters, any nonsense. Just a straight picture.
Matt Jones
Just a straight picture picture. You've got the same tie, same suit, ready to go. Did you. Did you moisturize?
Ryan Lemon
Well, I shaved.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Ryan Lemon
I got a haircut yesterday and shaved. So I'm ready for the photo shoot.
Matt Jones
We'll see. We'll compare them and see how it is. I. I think, you know, I think you look. You look dressed up. You're not going to look like you look in that picture because you have your normal weight. You don't have whatever that was there.
Ryan Lemon
You know, the more I look at the photo, I think there may have been a little touch up. Maybe just a little touch up.
Matt Jones
I like how in the moment, though, you insisted there was not.
Ryan Lemon
Well, you guys were saying, that's not my suit. That's my. Not my head on my body.
Matt Jones
I don't know that it was your body. I think it was. Something happened, Drew. I don't know what it was like.
Ryan Lemon
They kind of just shrunk the body and made the head bigger.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, your body was straight. The thing wasn't even the suit for me. I'm looking at it again. It's. Your legs are not that long. The proportions of your body do not match. They definitely stretched you out, but we'll know soon.
Matt Jones
Are you taller than that woman?
Ryan Lemon
Yes.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Are you?
Ryan Lemon
Oh, yeah. She's little. She's got. But she's got heels on, which kind of makes her pretty close to my height.
Drew Franklin
Looks like you have heels on, too.
Matt Jones
Well, you're going to recreate.
Ryan Lemon
Recreate the photo shoot.
Matt Jones
859-280-2287. We did. We did trivia here last night. Ryan Lemon's team Shannon.
Ryan Lemon
I thought you're getting ready now. They'll get ready to call you.
Matt Jones
Wait till I say it.
Ryan Lemon
Okay.
Matt Jones
Ryan Lemon's Team Shannon came in second place. And qual.
Shannon The Dude
All right. Not bad.
Matt Jones
He did actually. Would have done even better, except you. You bombed. The final question of the top 10 highest grossing liveaction comedy movies of all time. You didn't do great on that.
Ryan Lemon
We only got three of the 10. Or we may have won the whole thing last night.
Matt Jones
Shannon would, you know, think about. They're all made from 1990 to 2015. What comedy movies. Live action. So not. Cartoons have made the most money. You got a guess. And four of them produce sequels.
Drew Franklin
I don't know.
Shannon The Dude
I just don't know. If it'd be called a comedy or not. But, I mean, I would see it like Forrest Gump as a comedy.
Matt Jones
Forrest Gump is not a comedy.
Drew Franklin
It's not a comedy. Very serious.
Matt Jones
What would you do? You have a guess?
Drew Franklin
The Hangover.
Matt Jones
Hangovers. One of them. Well done. Got the hangover. Wedding Crashers is one of them as well. So Shannon already has two. He's only one short to what you got last time.
Ryan Lemon
The third one. We got those two, and we got Home Alone, I think that was.
Matt Jones
The third one is number one of all time.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And then there was a bunch of others, like Water Boy, Meet the Fockers.
Ryan Lemon
We didn't get that one.
Shannon The Dude
American Pie. Were they in there?
Matt Jones
American Pie was not in it. That's actually kind of surprising.
Ryan Lemon
Jim Carrey movie was Liar.
Matt Jones
Liar.
Drew Franklin
Liar.
Matt Jones
Yes. So Elf. Elf. Would you try. They wouldn't listen to you.
Ryan Lemon
I tried to tell them Elf, but my group didn't go with that Will Ferrell movie.
Matt Jones
Qualified. And the finals. Are you. Are you proud?
Ryan Lemon
I'm very proud. We did a parade last night on Main street, signed some autographs, took some pictures. I tell you what won it for us, though. You threw in a new little twist last night where you could circle one question in each round. It would double your points. We nailed that. Each round.
Matt Jones
You knew which one to circle.
Ryan Lemon
Oh, yeah. Yeah. The president question. Trent knew all the presidents, so that was an easy one.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Ryan Lemon
The question about the schools that are in the state capitals.
Matt Jones
Yeah. We did it. We did a question. Shannon. What public colleges in the Big Four are located in their state's capital? And there were. There were actually 11 of them. And so you got all.
Ryan Lemon
We got nine of them.
Matt Jones
That's good.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Well done.
Ryan Lemon
So we circled that one so we had double points for those. So I like your new twist.
Drew Franklin
He's excited.
Matt Jones
I'm glad you like the test. Well, the next time we're doing it is Tuesday, May 13th. We have two more qualifiers before the finals in June, so Tuesday, May 13, is the next.
Drew Franklin
I guess I'm gonna have to bring my team and get in this.
Matt Jones
You better. It's a great crowd here, energized and ready to go.
Ryan Lemon
And I think I was a very gracious winner. I congratulate everybody on their participation. And.
Matt Jones
No, you stood up and you yelled and you screamed. You were gracious in the sense that Kenny McPeak was gracious yesterday. We do need to talk about this video because I. I thought the video with Kenny McPeak is interesting. So Pat Kelsey and Kenny McPeak. Get a picture right together. And. And Kenny is a Kentucky fan.
Ryan Lemon
I grew up here in Lexington.
Matt Jones
Might even be listening to the show right now. Listens to this show quite a bit. And Pat Kelsey standing next to him. I think he initially thought Pat was one of the derby jockeys.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. Let's get a photo, man.
Matt Jones
You're on the six horse. Right? But. But he did not. Who was the woman? Is that Kenny's wife? Okay, so that's Kenny's wife. So.
Drew Franklin
And she's a Louisville fan, allegedly. That's why she went L's up.
Matt Jones
Okay, so. So they stand there. They're about to take the picture. Pat throws the L's up, and then Kenny throws the L's down. And then his wife hits his hand and says, stop that. Okay, so his wife is a Louisville fan. Is that correct?
Ryan Lemon
I'm not aware.
Drew Franklin
I saw that in a tweet of someone that took a picture. So I'm gonna. I'm trust.
Matt Jones
So let me ask this question. I thought legendary behavior.
Ryan Lemon
I did, too.
Matt Jones
I tweeted it out last night. Louisville fans get very angry rather than just saying, hey, it's a playful thing. Clearly, they like each other. They wouldn't even take the picture. Right. But there were people who thought that was. That was not good behavior. What did you think of throwing the L's down next to the coach? I mean, this isn't just throwing the L's down. It is. You are standing next to Pat Kelsey.
Ryan Lemon
Playful banter on a rivalry like that, I'm all for it. And even if you're standing right by the coach, if the Coach is giving Ls up, I'm giving the nails down.
Matt Jones
Okay, so that was going to be my next question. You would do that? Absolutely. We run into Pat Kelsey. Well, you're not going to be at the track, but if you were on Friday and you ran into Pat Kelsey and he was like, hey, there's Ryan Lemon, ksr. You're throwing L's down.
Ryan Lemon
If we get. If we get our picture taken like that, and he's doing Ls up, I'm definitely doing Ls down.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Ryan Lemon
Because I can. I can look him right in the eye. He's one of the few coaches I can look right square in the eye.
Matt Jones
All right. What about you?
Drew Franklin
Oh, absolutely. I think if you're a true Kentucky fan, you have to do. That's why we saw Kenny right in his face. Yeah. Ryan said he's doing the L's. It's not like he just Walked up to him and started flashing it, which I might do anyway. But if you're next to me and you're putting it up, I got to put it down.
Ryan Lemon
I agree.
Matt Jones
Shannon, what do you think?
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, I'm not. If I see him out in public, not going to run up in his face like some obnoxious fan and go yells, down. I'm not going to do that. But if he's doing the L's up right next to me, then you can do the L's down.
Matt Jones
That's really, it's interesting because I think, I don't know that I would, I would do that standing next to him. Like, I don't. I, I.
Shannon The Dude
But he's doing the up, though. You would for a picture.
Drew Franklin
He's doing L's up. Playful.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah. Good nature. Playful. Fun. I think at that point it's playful. Yeah.
Drew Franklin
Shannon's right. I think you'd look like a crazy person if you just ran up to him. Well, no, I mean circumstance.
Matt Jones
We're about to go to Oaks. This happens to me almost every year at the Oaks or Derby. I go, some Louisville fan comes up and just like, gets in my face and goes, go court cards. Eat it, M. Jones cards A. And I'm like, will you shut up? And so I don't want to be that guy. But you're saying if it's playful, it's not that.
Ryan Lemon
So what if a, A Louisville fan came. Hey, Matt, I'm a Louisville fan. I can't get your picture taken with you. And in the picture they do ls.
Matt Jones
I would do nails down.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
So if it was a Louisville fan. But is it any different? Because it's the.
Drew Franklin
It's even better.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah.
Ryan Lemon
Okay. He's doing it. He seems to be a good natured guy that he's okay with.
Matt Jones
There's a. I mean, there's a decent chance we'll see Pat Kelsey if we take a picture. You're giving me permission to throw. Ls there?
Ryan Lemon
Yes, absolutely.
Shannon The Dude
I think part of it, though, is him doing L's up first.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Drew Franklin
That's true.
Shannon The Dude
Like, you're not being the jerk.
Matt Jones
All right?
Shannon The Dude
You're just so.
Matt Jones
Picture floats around of me doing Ls down with Pat Kelce and I start getting blasted. I'm expecting backup from you.
Ryan Lemon
We got your back.
Matt Jones
Now you.
Ryan Lemon
You'll get blasted from the Louisville fans, but fans will be like, yes, sir, had a boy.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
One of my favorite Derby memories is you and I were leaving derby and someone did L's up. And Perrin was Like, put your hand down.
Shannon The Dude
You look stupid.
Drew Franklin
Put your L down.
Matt Jones
Well, but that was a little like they were up in.
Drew Franklin
My guy was over the top. But Perrin, I remember the guy's face. He was, like, shocked that Perrin was telling him to put his hand down.
Matt Jones
My mom always gets nervous when I go to Oaks or Derby because it is the most aggressive. It's the most aggressive that Louisville fans will get with me. Is it Oaks or Derby? I think it's a couple things. One, you're in their city. There's a mass of them. Right. And there's like that mass mob mentality. And then, you know, usually by the end of the day, a lot of them are drunk. And so that combination. If you were to say, how many negative encounters have you had with Louisville fans? I would say half of all the negative encounters I've had have been at Oaks or Dirt. Wow. Because that's just. That's, like, where they are at their, you know, Oaksy Derbyst.
Ryan Lemon
I feel like I need to show up just to be your bodyguard.
Matt Jones
You know, we don't have pairing this year, so. So that means. Mario, you know, Drew. Drew. Drew's kind of like a. A hummingbird as well. Okay. So we're gonna.
Drew Franklin
I did push ups last. We're gonna need you.
Matt Jones
I've got Getting ready. I've got. I've got tall and hubby. They're not exactly. They're not exactly bodyguards. So, Mario, this will fall upon you to be the person that keeps me from getting knocked out at Oaks or Derby.
Drew Franklin
But as owners of Simply Joking, do we not have security detail around us?
Matt Jones
I don't think they're giving us. And speaking of that for a second. We'll talk more about the. This later. But. But Simply joking. At least 300 people have used the KSR code at joincommonwealth.com and I'm sure they think other people have that just forgot to put in the code.
Ryan Lemon
Oh, yes.
Matt Jones
But I've been asked to pass on a message.
Ryan Lemon
Okay.
Matt Jones
Shannon. Yeah. If you sign up to get shares of Simply Joking, that's good.
Ryan Lemon
That's very good.
Matt Jones
That's what we want. We got a hat.
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Love a good hat. I'm wearing that hat Friday. You can get the hat on the site. I was given hats away. Yes. Last night. To people who. To people who've been loyal customers. If you were here, I gave a Simply Joking hat. But I have a message I'm asked to pass on. It is awesome that you buy Shannon a share or two, right?
Shannon The Dude
Yeah.
Matt Jones
That's great. Do not call Churchill Downs and say you're an owner and ask for tickets.
Shannon The Dude
Oh, man.
Matt Jones
Apparently, that has happened.
Ryan Lemon
It must. I got an email last night saying.
Matt Jones
There are people who've called and said, hey, can I get tickets to the Oaks? I'm an owner.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, you can buy your tickets. Well, you're not gonna get them for free.
Matt Jones
You can't get owner's tickets, though. Like, you can go. You could do that now. It's true. But don't do that, because while you are, it's like, you know, there's a lot of us. There's 300 of us that are just in the KSR group. You can't call and demand owner's tickets. Yeah.
Ryan Lemon
The email said, do not call Churchill Downs front office and ask for tickets as an owner. Here's the link to Ticketmaster.
Matt Jones
That's the special way you can get them. Yeah, but that means, Drew, someone has done it. And I would actually like to have heard that phone call.
Drew Franklin
I noticed on the website, too, it has all the. The perks you get for being an owner, but it does say in bold, does not come with tickets to Oaks or Derby.
Matt Jones
So, you know, when they do the other races, sometimes you might be able to do it. Yeah, but not.
Ryan Lemon
Not the Oaks of the Derby.
Matt Jones
Not the Oaks.
Drew Franklin
The site says there'll be opportunities.
Matt Jones
Maybe.
Drew Franklin
Maybe just look at it like the Green Bay Packers. Not everyone that owns part of the packers gets to sit on the sideline during the game.
Matt Jones
And the ownership stock in Apple. You don't get a free iPhone. Right. Like, you do.
Shannon The Dude
So do we own this horse for, like, till the end of its life?
Matt Jones
Yes, until whenever. Like, you. You like when they sell the rights and all that, the breeding, like, yes, forever. Wow.
Shannon The Dude
Okay. I was just thinking short term, you know, this is.
Drew Franklin
This is a rental.
Matt Jones
This is not a riddle. You have invested in this Tesla.
Drew Franklin
Wow.
Matt Jones
So you know. 859-280-2287. Text machine is 772-774-5254. We found out about a new player Kentucky is looking at. We'll talk about that and more. We are here at KS Bar for Wednesday. It's Kentucky Sports Radio. Beautiful month. Welcome back, kee Sports Radio. 859-280-2287. It's an Ask anything Wednesday as well. I forgot to say that. So go ahead, open up the lines. 859-280-2287. You can ask anything. We'd be glad to answer it. This is a good day to get your question. Last couple times that we've or the last time we did this, a lot of the questions were like Matt, what's Mark Pope going to do with the point guard? You can ask any question. You can for instance ask. Well, I'm not going to tell you what to ask but Mark Pope by the way is going on John Rothstein's podcast live at 3 o'clock. He will be on there. Ross team says to talk about St. John's Yukon or no I guess no. Sorry about that. He's interviewing Mark Pope and then I guess Rothstein is talking about St. John's and Yukon. I don't know why he would talk St. John's and Yukon with Mark Pope. But that'll be at 3:00 it looks like on Twitter is the link so. So Mark doing an interview. Hopefully that means we can get him in here next week or the week after. That's the goal.
Ryan Lemon
That's what I was going to say. Does that mean he's starting new interviews? Means his roster is.
Matt Jones
I don't think his roster's done. It came out yesterday there were that they have talked to maybe a visit with. All right. These names this year are going to be tough for me. Okay. Like we made fun of him for Kobe, Brya being Bobby Abreu. But these names this year going to be a little tougher. Divine Agabaw.
Drew Franklin
No, you go Chuku.
Matt Jones
That Yeah. That was way off. You go Chukawu.
Drew Franklin
That's in my Googling this morning. That's as close as I could get.
Matt Jones
Divine, you go Chukawu. He plays at Miami average 5.5 points a game. 190 pound shooting guard apparently is an outside shooter. This probably I read this Drew to be you're replacing a Travis Perry with a Travis Perry but maybe a little more athleticism. Do you think that's the theory?
Drew Franklin
Yeah. To fill that role.
Matt Jones
I don't know what you're basically recruiting your 13th man.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. So I don't know what Devon's, you know what he. What he expects because he started like 15 or 16 games of Miami to go from oh really starting a lot for Miami and then going to uk.
Matt Jones
They were terrible.
Drew Franklin
Really bad.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
They had a lot of people quit but yeah I would assume that's just we got to get another ball handler shooter in here with Perry stepping away but it's already a crowded backcourt so I don't know what Ugo Chukwu's expectations are but I would say it she should consider limited playing time if he is Coming to Kentucky.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah, he's. He's a backup plan. I mean, he's trying to fulfill every need, every spot in the roster. And if they need another backup guy to be a backup shooter for the next couple years, it may be this guy.
Matt Jones
I mean, they're going to. It looks like they are going to fill that. Yeah. I just got the text message. Said, still not ready to do anything locally. He's, he's still recruiting. So this was this. I guess that means there you go.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah, there you go.
Matt Jones
So, you know, this one seems fine to me. I don't know. I'll admit I don't know anything about him. Miami games were like a torture to your soul to watch last year. Travis Perry. Grapevine says Maryland Ole Miss. I've seen some figures whispered about, about Travis Perry that are an unbelievable amount of money. And if he is getting offered that by one of those schools, kid had to go. Wouldn't you agree?
Drew Franklin
Yeah, I kind of hinted at that when he first announced. I knew there were some big offers, but it seems they've only gotten bigger over time as these teams get desperate to plug holes.
Matt Jones
I mean, I saw one. You know, think. Think about how many numbers he probably was making last year. Just the sheer amount of numbers in the number add one.
Ryan Lemon
Whoa, really? Yeah, really.
Matt Jones
I think Maryland is like Buzz musta saw something he liked.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Because I think Maryland is like throwing some, some. Some cash and a lot of these.
Drew Franklin
Teams, they're a little behind. If you look at some rosters, there's a lot of teams that have needs and there's just not many options. So Travis is benefiting by being one of the last available on the board also. I think.
Matt Jones
Yeah. A lot of times in life, I think, I think we're going to learn in this portal situation if you want to get a big payday. I think being first or last has a lot of benefits. I think when you first start and everybody's got full pocketbooks jumping on, that's good. And then maybe being the last girl at the dance, it might be in the middle where you're actually get your lease value. I think being like the first and the last may actually make you some money.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah, you put it that way, you get lost in the shuffle, maybe in the middle a little bit. But right now he's standing out. He's. If he, if he's able to pull down seven figures.
Matt Jones
Well, I didn't say segments. You said that. I just said one figure than the other figure.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah. And so I did the math and I came up with seven. That's.
Matt Jones
I see why you live in it. Said that, not me.
Drew Franklin
I know he was really torn on leaving uk. That wasn't the plan. But if someone can probably double or triple your minutes and they're paying you more, he has to. I mean, he's not someone that's gonna have a long NBA career or anything, so if he can make good money right now as a sophomore, he has to jump on that.
Matt Jones
I just saw this man, and rest in peace. This man that passed away, I'm not gonna say his name, but for the. When I saw that, I thought that was a joke.
Ryan Lemon
I would have thought that's.
Matt Jones
Anyway, he was a real, like, that was a real person.
Drew Franklin
Mets guy, right?
Matt Jones
Met Scott, and when they put it up, I thought, this is like a joke. But that was his actual name.
Drew Franklin
I mean, you can say because it's his name, right? Or you just don't want to get Ryan started.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I don't want Brian giggling. I'm just saying, rest in peace, the man. But when I saw that was his name, I thought, don't I. My literal thought was, don't make jokes about that. About that. And then that was his name. So who's up first? Shannon.
Shannon The Dude
Natty.
Matt Jones
Natty. Go ahead, Natty. Hey, Matt.
Drew Franklin
We named our fish Gemstone after your show recommendation.
Matt Jones
You knit? You named what?
Drew Franklin
We named our fish Gemstone.
Ryan Lemon
Named her fish.
Matt Jones
Okay. Fish. I thought you said your sis. I thought you would name your sister Gemstone. And I was like, well, that's quite a name. Okay. Your fish. That makes sense.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. And then my question was, what's your craziest outfit?
Matt Jones
You won the derby. Probably this purple one right behind here when I. So I appreciate the call. I used to dress crazy for Oaks. Nice. For derby, and I wore this purple. It looks like the dude from McDonald's. What. What was the Grimace?
Drew Franklin
You look like the Joker.
Matt Jones
Or the Joker. Yeah, I mean, it was. I, I think I looked pretty good. The problem was that the hat was not the same color as the rest of the purple. It was a little lighter. But I, I, I felt I saw Marty Smith that day, who also wears crazy stuff, and he looked at me and goes, well, you brought it today. But it wasn't like a admiring statement.
Drew Franklin
Since then, have you worn those purple patent leather shoes?
Matt Jones
0 they. They made my feet bleed. They were. Those are the ones that made my feet bleed. That was not a comfortable, comfortable thing.
Ryan Lemon
You had the blue turquoise suits. You wore the one. Yeah.
Matt Jones
And I wore a purple one. And remember I was gonna wear a yellow one. And then the person I was dating at the time said, your skin tone and yellow will not work. My. We were talking about that yesterday, Mario. That white people shouldn't wear yell look. That Luca looks.
Drew Franklin
Ryan's wearing a yellow tie.
Matt Jones
That's a tie. You don't. You don't want to wear, like a yellow shirt. There you go.
Drew Franklin
And you've got that Panama City tan, so you're looking.
Ryan Lemon
Right? Yeah.
Matt Jones
Yes. 859-280-2287. One person writes. Matt, I think I know who threw Ryan on the ground. I won't say his name because he works here, but we have. I've come to the conclusion it's him. His name is not Chuck. But I'm contemplating whether to tell Ryan to set up an apology.
Ryan Lemon
I'm all for it. Let's do it. Set it up. I'm not gonna be a jerk to the guy. I just, you know, I just want to hear him say, man, I'm sorry. I should done that.
Matt Jones
Held a 30 year grudge towards this.
Ryan Lemon
Well, and deservedly so. He almost ruptured my entire career right there in that moment.
Matt Jones
By the way, I think I figured out the Trent Noah comparison.
Drew Franklin
Okay.
Matt Jones
I didn't feel good about the Derrick Willis. I didn't feel good about Alex Poytheris. What do you like about this Darren Feldhouse?
Ryan Lemon
That's not bad. Yep. Big strong guy that could shoot.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Strong. Not a big, but also not a guard. Kind of in the middle.
Ryan Lemon
I like that.
Matt Jones
Could do a little inside, little outside.
Ryan Lemon
I like that mountain. Yep.
Matt Jones
You like Darren Felthouse.
Ryan Lemon
I think that's a good one.
Matt Jones
I think until I hear a better one, that's the one I'm going with. We'll take a break. Be right back. Ksr.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah, that's a good one.
Matt Jones
TJ Smith, personal injury attorney. Call tj. He'll make him pay.
Shannon The Dude
Now more of Kentucky Sports radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Matt Jones
Welcome back Tucky Sports Radio. 859-280-2287. A lot of people want to say Scott Padgett for Trent Noah. I like Feldhouse better. Scott Padgett was bigger. Scott Padgett played in the league. Now maybe Noah will get to be that good. But you can't just throw a Scott Padgett name around because he. I mean, he played in the NBA for a number of years.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah. Six, nine. I like the field house because they're about the same size and I can.
Matt Jones
What is Noah like? 6, 5. I know, I don't care what they listed. What is he actually like? I. I think I've stood next to him, and I think he was just slightly taller than me.
Ryan Lemon
It sounds about right.
Matt Jones
So I think he's more. Whereas Padgett is big.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
So I. I'm gonna go with that now. Felthouse was a rock. You know what I mean? Like, he was. He was big, strong dude. Strong. So, like, you got. We'll have to see if he ends up like that.
Drew Franklin
I considered Patrick yesterday for my answer, but, yeah, he was a lot bigger and put more inside.
Matt Jones
Ask anything Wednesday before we go to the phone, what about Giannis, Drew and Halliburton's dad? If you haven't seen the. If you haven't seen the video yet, so. So Giannis, they lose the game. Terrible ending for the Bucks. I think they go on an 8090 run in 40 seconds against the Indiana. And then at first, the only video you saw was Giannis, like, going head to head with Halberton's dad. And you were like, hey, Giannis, hang on. But then another video comes out that shows Halliburton ran on the court, Halliburton's dad, and was chirping at Giannis. I gotta tell you, I saw Shaq and Charles Barkley arguing about it, and Shaq was like, he's always out there. And Barkley's like, he shouldn't be. People's dads should not be on the court. I'm all on Giannis's side, and I'll even go so far as to say, yan, Halliburton's dad's lucky. Didn't get punched in the face last night.
Drew Franklin
Any other player but Giannis probably does hit him in the face.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
Completely unprovoked. Giannis just. His season just ended. He's not moving. He's kind of just staring off into the distance, realizing what just happened. And Halliburton's dad runs up to him of crazy behavior, and it just. It takes. Halliburton hits the game winner. Indiana's moving on the next round, and no one is talking about what? Tyrese Halliburton.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
His dad completely hijacked the story, and it's an embarrassing.
Matt Jones
Shannon, would you agree? Dad shouldn't be on the court.
Shannon The Dude
Parents are always trying to get in their. Their son's business. Like, get out of the way.
Matt Jones
Get out of the court.
Shannon The Dude
Your time has passed, too, dad.
Matt Jones
Your time has passed. Caliburton's dad.
Shannon The Dude
Get out.
Matt Jones
Get off the court. Like, you should not Be on the court. You certainly shouldn't be in the news. If I'm Tyrese, I'm like, dad, dad, stay home. What are you doing? I am a grown man. It would be one thing if he was a college kid. What is tyres halbert? 27, 28 years old, and dad's out there wearing the jersey, looking like he wants to play off the court. What are you doing?
Shannon The Dude
This is not recreational ball. This is not Little League. You can't.
Matt Jones
If I'm Yanis, I would. Well, I wouldn't have, because I don't fight. But if I'm Yanis, I. He's lucky. He had to head. First of all, Giannis is seven feet tall. Halberd's dad's like a little tiny dude. What does he think's gonna happen?
Ryan Lemon
Any other fan that does that, they get detained and arrested.
Matt Jones
He shouldn't be allowed. No on the court. Again, like, it's one thing if you let people's parents on the court, but the moment you do that, he should never be allowed on the court.
Ryan Lemon
That's right. I think if. If he wasn't, he's daddy would have been detained and arrested, but he's lucky. What if he did that to somebody? Like, you said, Draymond Green or somebody? He'd be in the hospital this morning.
Matt Jones
I honestly kind of wish Giannis had punched him in the face. I think it would be. I think it would actually be kind of funny. Like, see you. You want to talk trash.
Drew Franklin
He ran up in his space. I actually feel bad for Tyrese. He. I believed him when he said, I had no idea it happened until I got to the locker room and saw a video. And then he was apologizing. The press conference.
Matt Jones
Oh, he did again.
Drew Franklin
A moment that should be about him hitting a game winner and taking Indiana on. He said my dad was completely out of line.
Matt Jones
He did say that. Okay. I didn't see.
Drew Franklin
He's like. He said, I didn't know about it till I got in the back. They showed me a video. So I just feel bad that he's having to answer that after what should have been a huge moment in his career.
Matt Jones
My parents would. I mean, my. I. What's hard to me is I can't imagine somebody's par. Can you imagine Larry walking out on the court after a game? I want you to imagine Larry walking on the court and go. Like, first of all, he. Not only would he not walk on the court, he would just go up to him and go, nice game, young man.
Drew Franklin
You really hug.
Matt Jones
You really? You really gave it your all, Played hard. Like the idea that you would go up and yell.
Drew Franklin
I mean, even if you ran to celebrate with the Pacers, you shouldn't do that. But to seek out the guy who just lost, that's crazy.
Matt Jones
And Shaquille O'Neal, what's he talking about saying? Well, he's always on the court. He should be there. What? First of all, Shaquille O'Neal would have knocked him out, wouldn't he? Like, are you think Shaquille O'Neal would have let that guy yell at him?
Drew Franklin
I was actually very surprised that the TNT guys weren't on complete agreement that it was out of line. I don't know if Shaq just wanted to have a different opinion.
Matt Jones
He must know that guy or something. Something. Because I just.
Drew Franklin
There's no reason you shouldn't play your face.
Matt Jones
No way when Shaquille O'Neal was playing that he would have let a dude's dad run out on the court and talk.
Ryan Lemon
Not a chance.
Matt Jones
He would have knocked, especially in that moment.
Drew Franklin
Your season just ended on essentially a buzzer beater.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Come on. Who's up next? Shannon.
Shannon The Dude
Jeff.
Matt Jones
Jeff. Go ahead, Jeff.
E
Hey there, Matt.
Matt Jones
What's going on?
E
First time, long time.
Matt Jones
Who are.
E
Yeah, not much. So I'm. I'm calling in, hoping for some advice and maybe some help.
Matt Jones
All right. Give advice. You know that I'm an advice giver.
E
All right. Yeah. So I'm about to graduate from school in Virginia.
Ryan Lemon
All right.
Matt Jones
Congratulations. Are we talking graduating college?
E
Yeah.
Matt Jones
All right. Congratulations.
E
Yeah, College. It's William and Mary.
Matt Jones
Oh, I've heard of William.
E
And I'm planning. Yeah, yeah. Planning a cross country bike trip with some friends of mine after graduation to help raise money for the Ullman Foundation.
Matt Jones
Okay.
E
Which supports young adults with cancer.
Matt Jones
Okay.
E
And I'm calling in because we are coming through Kentucky in late May.
Matt Jones
Okay.
E
And I'm hoping I could get some advice on some places to stop. And from the KSR audience, we're coming in from Huntington, West Virginia.
Matt Jones
Yes, you're gonna come in from Huntington, I would say. All right, so if you're coming in from Hun, you're gonna go, like through northeast Kentucky. So, I mean, I think, like, the. The places I think are kind of neat there. You could go down the country music highway. Right. Go through, like, you know, Olive Hill and Paintsville and, you know, Mount Sterling. That area. You're probably not gonna want to ride on the interstate since you're on a bicycle. So.
E
Yeah. Hoping to avoid that.
Matt Jones
Yeah. So there's, you know, there are some roads back through there that you could do and I think you go to Le and then I think I would head down towards, towards kind of Bourbon country, through Woodford County. There's, there are a lot of good cycling roads. People love to cycle through there, down through Bardstown. That's what I would do. If you come through Lexington, I'd love to have you come by KS Bar while we're here one day and support your, your trip. I think that's very noble of you guys to do and you'll have an amazing time.
E
That'd be terrific. We're certainly going through Lexington. I got family over there.
Matt Jones
Well, come make sure to contact me before and come by. Okay. Congrats on doing that. Congrats on graduation.
E
Will do.
Matt Jones
Thank you. By the way, today is the last day of school for the, for UK students. Graduation coming. I wonder. A lot of our UK did, our players, our basketball players, a lot of them probably graduated four or five years ago that were on the team, but I assume we have some that were graduating.
Ryan Lemon
You think there'd be somebody finishing a two year postgraduate degree?
Matt Jones
Williams is becoming a professor, I think, but, but yeah, but that's good.
Ryan Lemon
It's kind of rare to have graduating seniors coming in through her basketball program.
Matt Jones
I was, I, I was around the campus area yesterday at my like sauna place and people are just everywhere. I, I just continue to be amazed at how nice UK's campus is compared to what it used to be when you were there. I mean, when you were there it was essentially, let's be honest, you went to school at a parking garage and now it looks like a campus and like, it looks like idyllic life in some ways.
Drew Franklin
I was with someone out just a few weekends ago and he had gone to UK years ago and he mentioned, like, I don't recognize campus anymore. I was like, I live in Lexington, I'm around campus. And I still, I don't even recognize it because it's constantly changing. Everything's so brand new. Hagen hall, where many people stayed, is now like a historical marker. I hate walking by that on the way to games, football games. So it has just completely changed in the last.
Matt Jones
If you have, by the way, if you have not been to campus recently, you ought to go visit in front of Memorial Hall Coliseum. They finally finished their, their statue thing and it's basically. Is it, it's something for every county. Is it people who've died?
Drew Franklin
Right?
Matt Jones
What is it?
Ryan Lemon
Yeah, it's Memorial Coliseum. So it's a memorial. Each county is on a marker and each marker has soldiers and who have perished in line of duty, I believe.
Matt Jones
Yes, it is a really beautiful thing. It's, it's, it's now out in front of the col. It's now up and it has each county and you can see, I don't think it's everyone that passed away in battle from those counties. Is it somebody they went, people who went to UK maybe who did see?
Ryan Lemon
I thought it was all war related.
Matt Jones
Well, it is war related, but it can't be every person in every war. That wouldn't be enough space. Is there. I don't know.
Ryan Lemon
There's a lot of monuments out there.
Matt Jones
Yeah, there are a lot. There's like 20 of them. But it is still. It is a really neat, it is really cool.
Ryan Lemon
I'm glad they did that. That was in their original memorial Coliseum inside. So now they've made it an effort to do that outside.
Matt Jones
And it's like marble and all that. It's really, really nice. Folks, with basketball season over, now's the time to tackle your perfect remodel for your house estate. Renovations, kitchens, baths, basements and even decks. They do it right. Guaranteed pricing means no surprise cost. You get a daily update. Hey, this is what's happening. A turnkey experience. That's what I would need. So that I don't, I can't do anything. You can. They'll take care of it. It's estaterenos.com Estate R E N O S.com mention KSR and you get half off of your Design agreement with estaterinos.com One quick message. One person writes, Matt, my brother and I bought shares in the horse yesterday. I was mortified when I came home and he said, I called Churchill Downs to see about a ticket and they said we couldn't get them. I want to apologize for my brother. I don't know what, what made him think he could do that, but I'm mortified. I was mortified in the moment and I'm mortified listening now.
Ryan Lemon
It definitely happened. They wouldn't have sent out that email.
Matt Jones
We all learned everybody makes mistakes.
Drew Franklin
Hey, shoot your shot. I like the effort.
Matt Jones
You know, maybe they would have said yes. I don't know. We'll take a break. Be right back. KSI welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-280-2287. Ask anything Wednesday. One person writes, Matt, did you see the story about the Buffalo Bills general manager calling into the radio show and yelling at the host and telling them they Were wrong. Has that ever happened with you at Kentucky? Well, first of all, did you see the. Did you see what happened? There was a race. They were talking about the draft and they said something like, oh, you didn't get a wide receiver. You didn't get a safety or whatever. I think it was wide receivers. You didn't get wide receivers. And the Bill's GM called and basically just yelled at the guys and was like, like, we've got wide receivers. What are you talking about? We can't have everything. And like kind of yelled at him on the air. Yes, that did almost happen once. There was a coach. Not gonna say which one. There's a coach at uk. Think of the two major sports. So let's see. I've. I've been doing this through three football coaches and three basketball. Now four basketball coaches. And there was a time I was doing a post game show and I found out after the show was over that a coach tried to call into the post game show on the way home to basically yell at me and was. Had the phone taken out of their hand and hung up before it happened. And I'll just. And it wasn't Mark Pope. So that's the. That's the. So you can. You can guess from the other six coaches who you think it was most likely. Actually, you all don't know.
Drew Franklin
I was gonna say, I don't know the story, but that would have made great radio.
Matt Jones
You all don't know this story. I'm not gonna answer. But who would you guess it was? So you got the choices. Would be Brooks, Joker, Stoops Gillespie. I was here for Tubby. Tubby Gillespie. Cal Perry.
Ryan Lemon
I know who I would guess.
Matt Jones
Okay, well, guess.
Ryan Lemon
I would guess Joker.
Matt Jones
Okay. Why?
Ryan Lemon
Just because things did not go well those two years. You were a little more brash back in those days. Not afraid to say, what do you mean?
Matt Jones
I was a little more bright.
Ryan Lemon
Oh, yeah, that's very true.
Matt Jones
How was I more brash?
Ryan Lemon
I can see him. Yeah. You had a good relationship for a long time with a lot of the guys.
Matt Jones
Drew and I drove Joker home one time.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah, but you would be brash and not afraid to say things and.
Matt Jones
Okay, all right. Who do you. Who would you guess?
Drew Franklin
Cal. First pop to my head. But I don't think Cal would want to give the attention to the show by being a part of it. I think he would choose to ignore it. I'm gonna go, Mark Stoops. I could see him being fiery enough and he knows you enough to be like, well, I'M just going to call in and let him know how it is right now.
Matt Jones
All right, Shannon, who would you get?
Shannon The Dude
That was my guess as well because he gets fired up and I could see him getting really mad at something you said and want to call you. So I'd say stoops as well.
Drew Franklin
And he's called the show several times on positive notes, so feel like he would, wouldn't have an issue with popping on after.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
A game or whatever.
Matt Jones
Well, I'm not going to answer. I will say this. I've learned over the years that all of the coaches that I mentioned, except I have yet to hear this about Pope, which doesn't mean it hasn't happened. But I, I know for a fact all those coaches at some point on their drive home from the game have listened and, and various points, all of them have mentioned something I said during that. Those scenarios. So I always, I do think about that because, you know, that last back half of the post game show, the coach probably has time to be in the car and, and be on the way home by then.
Ryan Lemon
And they try to tell you they don't listen to the noise. They block it out. They don't listen. They do.
Matt Jones
None of them.
Ryan Lemon
They do.
Matt Jones
There's not one person that's been here that does not know what the narrative is in the media.
Ryan Lemon
Yep.
Matt Jones
There's, there's nobody. They can all say it. They're all lying, every single one of them, because it's part of their job. Some of them now, I think follow it more than others, but they all know it. I mean, when they don't say that, I just think that's the biggest bunch of nonsense. Who's next? Shannon?
Shannon The Dude
Jordan.
Matt Jones
Jordan. Go ahead, Jordan.
Drew Franklin
Hey, Matt.
Matt Jones
Two quick things.
E
One, what are the chances that UK.
Matt Jones
Would ever switch from a Nike school to another brand?
Drew Franklin
And then second, with the athletics department.
E
Now in an llc, how long until.
Drew Franklin
Colleges across America just get rid of their athletics departments and they become like semi professionals?
Matt Jones
Well, I appreciate the call. I mean, I don't know about get. So will Kentucky ever switch from a Nike school? My answer would be almost certainly no, unless they get an offer of money that makes it to where you have to do it. So, you know, I mean, when they switched from IMG to jmi, it was because they got an offer that they could not say no to. JMI was trying to basically create their entry into the broadcasting business and they decided to pay a lot of money to UK to do it. So UK almost didn't have a choice. So the Only thing I could say is the only way they'd leave Nike is if some shoe or apparel company says, we're going to pay you so much that you just can't say no, Drew. And, you know, Adidas kind of does that with Louisville and Kansas. They. Adidas pays Louisville and Kansas a ton because they don't want to lose them. Who knows, that could happen one day. But I think it's doubtful.
Drew Franklin
I'd say it's very doubtful. And barring just something crazy, I think Nike would match. There's brand. There's a few brands they don't want to lose, and Kentucky's one of them, Duke. You know, they have some of the top brands in college basketball, and I don't think Nike could let that walk out their door and go somewhere else.
Matt Jones
Yeah. I think Nike takes pride in the fact that if you were to say, what are the biggest brands in football? You'd say Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, and they have all of them. And then you would say, what are the biggest brands in basketball? And you'd say, Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina, and they have all of them. So I think, you know, Adidas has Kansas, but what's Adidas's biggest football school? I mean, is it Louisville? You know, I mean, like, so even.
Drew Franklin
Think of who wears Adidas.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I can't really either. You know, I guess Under Armour has Auburn. Right. But that's. That's about it.
Drew Franklin
I'd hope that if Apex ever called, Kentucky would listen, though. Vapex wants to come back from the dead from 1994. That's when we would have to entertain.
Matt Jones
As far as the other thing, with the athletics department. Would UK Sports ever just get rid of the athletics department and kind of run it as a business? No, but I think you're seeing what they're doing here as a step in that direction. I mean, I. I don't think they'll ever get. Get rid of it as a. As they'll always be an athletics department because they got a report to a state school. But I think what you're seeing now is a step towards acknowledging, Ryan, it's a business.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah. And we've seen that, we've talked about it, that Kentucky may be the blueprint that other schools will now try to model their programs after the next.
Matt Jones
I mean, look, the next decision for college athletics, step one is they decide to pay. Step two is they got to decide are you going to treat these kids as employees or not? Not. And there's a lot of reason schools don't want to do that. But at the end of the day, if you want to be able to impose restrictions and have a salary cap and try to make it to where kids can't transfer every year, the only way you're going to be able to do it is if you make them employees. It's the only way. So, like, I just think they ought to just bite the bullet and do it, because if they don't, we're just going to continue to see legal battles into the future. College athletics is the only sport, it's the only entity in the world where we want to treat people like employees and not call them employees. So they got to just switch it, and then you can start to impose order by bargaining, et cetera. We'll take a break, come back hour number two here at KS Bar.

Ryan Lemon emphasizes the playful nature, stating, “Playful banter on a rivalry like that, I'm all for it.”
Shannon The Dude adds a nuanced perspective, “I'm not going to run up in his face like some obnoxious fan and go yells, down. But if he's doing the L's up right next to me, then you can do the L's down.”
Throughout the episode, the hosts briefly acknowledge sponsors, including Avision Auto Glass and T.J. Smith Law Office, ensuring listeners are aware of valuable local services. They also promote Simply Joking, encouraging listeners to purchase shares in a local horse and informing them about enrollment codes and exclusive offers.

Matt Jones responds, “Almost certainly no, unless they get an offer of money that makes it to where you have to do it.”
The discussion highlights Nike's stronghold on major basketball programs and the improbability of UK altering their branding partnership without compelling incentives.

Ryan Lemon comments, “They all know the narrative in the media.”
Continuing the discussion on athletics, Matt Jones addresses the future of college sports as businesses, emphasizing the potential shift towards treating athletes as employees to manage finances and legalities more effectively.
Matt Jones states, “College athletics is the only sport, it's the only entity in the world where we want to treat people like employees and not call them employees.”
