Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports radio hour number two, Monday, June, May 19, right before Memorial Day weekend coming up. That's this weekend. A lot of people don't realize that I did until we did you apparently.

I thought we had two weekends before Memorial Day weekend.

[Drew Franklin]

We do not. We are here in London, Kentucky, right outside the subdivision with the greatest storm damage. I do want to mention, though, there other places were hit. We mentioned Pulaski County, I believe, Russell county. And then there was one in the kind of central part of the state as well. So, you know, that was a, that was also a wild night. I will say. I saw the guy that Ryan Hall, y' all, that dude had a big impact. I think he was the very first person, he and one or two of the weather people on TV to say that there was a, it was a tornado. They actually said it before the National Weather Service did, which is testament to those guys. I mean, that guy's sitting in his house in Pikeville streaming and really, I think, doing a public service for folks, right?

Yeah, A lot of people tuned in. I was watching Bill Mack and you could tell his personality changed when he saw that started in Adair County. That's kind of when he picked it up. And as it went through Somerset and.

[Drew Franklin]

Then London on the ground for an hour and a half.

[Evan]

That's amazing. That's amazing.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah, that is amazing. An hour and a half, he said.

[Evan]

You've got the satellite pictures now. You can see a path through the Daniel Boone Forest where that tornado went through.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah. I mean, you're also, you, you do thank God, though, I mean that it goes through a forest and not through, you know, towns. Yeah. Because that could have been even more horrendous.

[Mario]

I was out of town, so I couldn't watch the local news coverage. But a friend text me that he was watching Bill Mac and said, bill at one Point was just speechless, like he couldn't even believe what was happening. Just so drastic.

[Drew Franklin]

It registered at least an F3. And they are wondering if when it got to Somerset and London area that could have even gotten to an F4. They picked up some stuff. They don't know that for sure, but it was an F3 for a lot of it.

[Evan]

And I know we talked about this, but doesn't it seem like Kentucky all of a sudden is like Tornado alley?

[Drew Franklin]

Definitely are. I mean, there's no doubt Tornado Alley has kind of moved from the Oklahoma, Kansas to here. And I mean, you know, it has. I don't know how anybody can, can doubt that. I mean, this is going to be, I think between Bashir said, Since 2021, we've had 14 federally declared natural disasters.

[Evan]

That's amazing for our little state to have to go through that and keep getting, taking punch after punch after punch.

[Drew Franklin]

But the tornado thing is particularly bad because these houses, a lot of them are not built because we were not in the so like I was talking to someone who's in construction who said houses six since 1990 were built up to code. But a lot of the ones built before that we were not considered part of the tornado basically alley back at that point. So a lot of them are not built with the standards you would build a house today. Not that it could have withheld stood this, but still that makes it worse.

[Mario]

In some ways that in Oklahoma, the I guess former tornado alley, I was reading up on this yesterday, a lot of that was just land. Like there weren't even communities around where they would get hit often. And obviously, as we're seeing here, this is a very populated area.

[Drew Franklin]

And what these people are in for, you know, in the next several weeks and months, no description can, can really give justice to what they're going to have to deal with. So, you know, I wanted to say that you had mentioned clothing might be something that's getting in the way. But having been through this, I would encourage clothing, water and emotional support for the people because that's going to be the most difficult thing that they're going to be dealing with in all of this.

Welcome back. It is Kentucky sports Radio. Just so people know, we got disconnected. We didn't know. We had like a three minute conversation that none of you heard.

I thought it was a great conversation.

[Drew Franklin]

It was a great coverage. I thought it was some of the best conversation we'd had about. We talked about UK baseball. Just gone well into a. Into the ether. But we're back now. 859-280-2287. I missed, I guess, Paul's call. Sorry about that, Paul. One of the things I did say though is I had a couple people asking me how they could come see us. I think this probably is not the day to come see. It's just because the traffic on this road is such that getting here, I think would be very difficult for folks. So I would say, you know, come see us. I will be at the Mountain Laurel festival on Friday. You can come now or come then. But Mario is out walking around. You know, he was saying to me, like, never seen like, you know, this is a completely different world for him. And he was just like, you could see emotionally affecting him.

The. And this, these are not city streets, this neighborhood. They're like just scene, single lane neighborhood streets. Yeah, you gotta keep him clean for the red, the relief workers to get in and out of here.

[Drew Franklin]

Yep, that's exactly right.

We're standing here looking out and he came and put his arm around me. He was like, this is just so sad, man.

[Drew Franklin]

I can't. I mean, I can see it like it's it really is sad. It's any. You don't feel it till you're. You're here. It really, I mean, it made me. When I came Saturday, you know, that, like I said, that'll be a scene. I remember my entire life Saturday. I mean, it's awful. Now, don't get me wrong, it's still awful, but Saturday, you could just feel the area still experiencing like the raw emotion of it. Right. I mean, you could stand there. There were people everywhere. Like, people everywhere. I think there were family members still at that point trying to figure out what was going on, like where their family was. And it was just, it was like I said. I mean, that's one that I'll. I'll remember for a long time. I mean, it was, it was awful. It was awful. And I, you know, I, I walked around and I talked to some people and then, you know, people are just in shock. Like, it's just, it's, you know, their lives will never be the same. That's the thing about all this that really sticks to me. People's lives will never be the same in the short term when you lose everything.

[Evan]

You know, we drove when we first got here. You said, turn here. And when we turned, the air got sucked out of the car. We were all speechless. None of us said a word. Just looking at it is so horrifying and very, very sad when you see the people that have lost everything.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah. All right, so just switching gears for a second, then I'll go the phones. 859-2802-0287. We. We did have a two or three minute conversation that none of you heard about UK baseball.

They got swept. But D1 baseball. Shannon, are we still here before I have this conversation?

All right. D1 baseball has them qualified still for the tournament and not even as one of the last four in. Right. That we will be in the tournament. They play Oklahoma. They got swept by Vandy, but they play Oklahoma in the tournament. SEC tournament tomorrow. They play them tomorrow. You feel good that we're going to get in?

[Evan]

I feel good now. I think the sweep of Oklahoma probably got them in and they played Vanny. They had two of the three games, one going into the ninth inning, I think. And on Thursday night and Saturday night just couldn't hang on. But now they play Oklahoma. A team, it's got a top 10 pitcher that you just beat. Now you got to try to beat him four times in a row, but.

[Drew Franklin]

They won't pitch him because he doesn't have the rest yet. Yeah so I mean they'll get somebody. This will be a midweek starter game to start and then Oakland they would pitch their best guys like Wednesday or Thursday.

[Evan]

So is it still first round is one and done and then it goes double elimination.

[Drew Franklin]

Everyone is now in the tournament and it's single elimination.

[Mario]

It's single elimination first time this year. I guess we gotta stick to the script from our three minute conversation but going back to the weekend series with Vandy to lose the way they did that was just crushing. I hope they have a little more luck going in the postseason to lose especially Thursday when you led for the entire game led by five twice down.

[Drew Franklin]

To your last strike.

Yeah then lose on a walk off so maybe their fortune will reverse into Hoover.

[Drew Franklin]

I gave the stat there have been 30 SEC games Shannon UK's played in they have led at some point in 27 of the 30 games and and yet they're 13 and 17 in the.

GOT to come down to the bullpen just not being able to hold the the fort down.

[Drew Franklin]

Just some bad lucken. Yeah but but listen Minion I said this before Minion told me at Chipotle he thought this was going to be a major rebuilding year. So if he gets him in the.

Tournament that's a plus.

That's. That's a plus to me also Shannon the Reds are back.

Yeah I see that wow Sweep lately.

Summer of Ellie's back on. It's also the summer of Willie Benson as well.

He's on fire right now.

One four straight. Remember I said they need to go four and two in their home stand. I didn't think it would be lose the first two to the White Sox and then sweep first place Cleveland.

Now you get you know what coming up too though.

[Drew Franklin]

So you're but with that but without Paul schemes he pitched yesterday so don't even have to play against so but we've been losing to the bad teams. That's the problem. We beat the good teams. We lose the bad teams. But the Reds are back to being the best team in the league Just.

So I prepared how long is this summer valley going to see what happens.

[Drew Franklin]

At the series against Pittsburgh and then they play the Cubs who are in first place. They play at home this weekend so this is kind of a defining week. This is one they'll have to look in the mirror and talk to themselves about if it doesn't work.

[Mario]

Ryan I'm going to predict on Monday a week from today. Well we don't have a show on Tuesday. A week from today, the summer of the Reds will be over.

[Evan]

I'm done with the Reds. I'm done. They're. They're out.

[Drew Franklin]

They're over, but they're 500 now. 24 and 24. I went to the game Friday night, and it was. It was. It was a big win. You know, their bullpen pitched 17 innings in those three games this weekend. Only allowed one run in 17 innings. That's pretty good for a bullpen.

[Evan]

Maybe the UK can get some tips from that bullpen.

[Drew Franklin]

Will Benson, four home runs, though. I live. I got to listen to the call of all three. So there's this website that'll do the Reds tv, Reds radio, and then the TV and radio from the other team for big plays for the Reds. For Will Benson's fourth home run in three games. The. The Guardians radio broadcast. The guy just goes, will Benson's up. Are you kidding me? They threw him a slider again. Four home runs, four sliders. And then Shannon, he goes, I don't know what the scouting report on Benson was, but throw it away and burn it.

You gotta love when your broadcaster says that.

[Drew Franklin]

The homer broadcaster was like, what are you all doing throwing him the same slider four times? I really like that. I like. You know, we have to watch 162 games, Drew. Sometimes you're probably like, all right, I've had enough of this.

And I like when my. My broadcast team has the emotion like that. The. The neutral parties. That's no fun. I want to feel the frustration of the joy from my. From whoever's calling the game.

[Drew Franklin]

And then finally, Mike Haynes made the Eastern Conference finals big win against the Capitals. They now play the Florida Panthers in the Eastern Conference finals. This is. This is big for our franchise. This was supposed to be a rebuilding year for us, too. And we're still finding our way in play the Panthers, the defending cup champions, but we're still Cane Tastic.

[Evan]

So I guess you're going to Miami to watch one of the games.

[Drew Franklin]

Well, so game one and two is in Carolina, but it's during this week, so I can't go then. Game three is Saturday, but it's in Miami during Memorial Memorial Day weekend, which feels like, oh, you should go. Miami during Memorial Day weekend.

[Mario]

I don't. I can't. Like, I can't. All crypto, bro in Miami.

This weekend sounds like a party. Like, why would you not want to be there?

It sounds. First of all, I can't even imagine what the Hotel rooms would be like in Miami during Memorial Day weekend.

I was there last year in Fort Lauderdale when the Panthers won. They get into it down there. It was a wild scene when they.

[Drew Franklin]

Game four is Memorial Day night. I need to be here then five. If they get to a game seven, it is in Raleigh and it is that next weekend. And if we don't go to the NCAA what baseball tournament, then I might go to a Game 7, but maybe.

Do a double header baseball. If it is Coastal Carolina, you know what?

[Drew Franklin]

If they play Coastal Carolina, we could maybe drive up there for game seven.

[Mario]

Everything's on the way when you're driving. It's all.

[Drew Franklin]

That's true. Everything is just. It's just a matter of if you want to get there or not. So. So go Canes. Go Reds. Go UK Baseball. My teams, Ryan, are trying to make our are doing well.

The Reds are just fortunate. They're in that weak division with the Cardinals and the Pirates and the brewers are all kind of average baseball team.

Hey, it's Raven Fields from Pikeville and we just went through all the flooding on February 15th states and going through something like that, I, I just wanted to call in for just a second and I really want to commend our governor. I do not agree with his politics at all. But I tell you what, every time I see a natural disaster in our state and now I have witnessed one and been part of it, our home was completely messed up through the flood. And I just want to commend our governor because as soon as anything happens, he's one of the first ones on the ground. And again, you know, it politics aside, just knowing that we got a governor that does everything possible, he did the same thing here in pike county to get funds available, get FEMA on the ground. And I just want, I just wanted to commend him publicly that, that I appreciate that and I know a whole lot of other people do also. But also just to let the folks in London and that surrounding area. I've been a pastor for over 30 years. I just want them to know that they're in our prayers and just put their trust in the Lord that I, I don't know anything else that we can do. Just pray.

That's really all you can do because you do look at things like this and say it feels so. I, you know, I felt this way when I was in the eastern Kentucky during the floods in 2022. And you just feel like it's just unfair. It's just unfair. And it keeps hitting regions like Breathitt county and pike county and Laurel county and, you know, out in Callaway county and Dawson Springs, it just, it doesn't, it doesn't feel fair. And it's. And it's not. But that's really all we can do. And on that point about the governor, you know, I've always liked him. I don't know him well, but I've always liked him. But he, Ryan is at his best in these moments. And I've watched him. I watched him do this in Breath of County and those. And I watched it Saturday, the way he comforts people in these situations. And this isn't with the camera, right. This is just him walking around, I just think is really commendable. You know, there's. It's easy to get caught up in politics of what your position on this stance is, but on some level, especially when you're a state official, it's just about making people feel cared for and doing what he talked about, about getting relief and Kentucky. And I think a lot of people deserve credit for this. Hal Rogers deserves credit for this. Mitch McConnell deserves credit for this. Rand Paul all deserves credit for this. And Andy Beshear, they have got. Kentucky has gotten federal relief quicker than almost any other state. In all of these, there are still states that have had issues that can't get relief for various reasons. But Kentucky, and in part probably because those people are known in, I mean, how Rogers, the senior guy on Appropriations, Mitch, has been the Senate leader. Annie Beshear, you know, has. Has, I think, done a really great job. Like Kentucky has been able to get relief. And I think that will happen probably here earlier than it would in other places as well because of that.

[Evan]

Because like you said, they work together in a situation.

[Drew Franklin]

They really do. I think they really do. I think you can, you can feel really good about it. Even if you, even if one of those people I named is somebody you don't like.

[Evan]

Right.

[Drew Franklin]

There is an advantage to having that connection. And I think there's an advantage sometimes in Kentucky with the, with the Republican federal people and the Democrat being the governor, that we have connections to both parties. Right. So whoever's in charge, you can actually I mean, it's just natural. I think they get attention quicker. So I. I really do commend them, and I do think. I mean, listen, man, she took office, and two months later, we had Covid. And we've had 14 natural disasters since then. I mean, it's kind of unbelievable what he's had.

[Mario]

I was just thinking that from when Andy started, He could not have imagined all. All the things that have been put on his plate. The tragedy.

[Drew Franklin]

It really is unbelievable. Who's next? Eight, five. Okay. A couple open lots. 859, 280, 22, 87. The. You know, the interstate is right here. Yeah. One of the things that's happened and I get. I understand this is people kind of. They can't help but look as they go by, and it really has bun. Bunched up the. It was really like that Saturday. Bunched up the interstate because you can see this damage. Driving on the interstate.

[Evan]

Yeah. It comes up. Up on you. All of a sudden, you come back, and all sudden, there's a big gap in the trees. You see these trees that are missing all their upper limbs. And now you realize, oh, that's it. So you want to take a look at it?

[Drew Franklin]

Well, yeah. I mean, right here, that used to be trees.

[Evan]

Yeah.

[Drew Franklin]

Okay. I mean that. You look. You go. There's trees going all the way down in each direction. This gap right here, which is a major gap, which looks like it was intentional, is from the storm.

[Evan]

Yeah.

[Mario]

We've been sitting here. I didn't even register that. That was kind of the top of the path on this hill here. Right there at the interstate.

[Evan]

So you're driving on the interstate, and all sudden you see that natural instinct is to look at.

[Drew Franklin]

I mean, there would have been a time that this neighborhood would have been. You couldn't have really seen it right from the interstate, from the trees. And now the trees are all cleared out. And actually, you can.

[Mario]

Because looking around, the cleanup has really picked up since we did our lap before the show. I mean, it is active all. All around the place right now with people. Some look to be middle school kids. All the way through the big electrical trucks showing up.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah, this definitely, as you can see, literally since we've gotten here, you can see the community has. Has increased. Has come here in. In large numbers.

[Evan]

That's probably a guy from the London community right there with a truckload full of just debris and lumber. Just getting it out of here, Just hauling it off.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah. That's another thing you think about. Where do they take all of this Stuff like I. I'm sure, I guess a landfill, but like this is going to be. Be a lot of stuff to take everywhere.

[Mario]

I also think it helps in Kentucky we got a lot of blue collar workers with trucks just ready to go and get over here and help. You've seen like, Ryan, just point out that guy just filled up the back and wherever he's taking it, he's getting it on out here.

[Drew Franklin]

I do need to ask you about your car. Why? Shannon, I don't know what the legal limit of. Of tint on your windows are.

[Shannon The Dude]

Yeah.

But whatever it is, Ryan, there's no way your car, like, passes the law.

Prayers out to former President Joe Biden, diagnosed with prostate cancer, an aggressive form of prostate cancer. He's 82 years old and that just came out. So prayers up to him and his family.

The aggressive form of cancer has already gotten into his bone. I mean, that's scary.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah, very scary.

[Evan]

They got some treatments. I guess they're trying to analyze, see what they will work for him.

[Drew Franklin]

But yeah, I mean, you would assume as a former president probably gets the best treatment that you can, you can get. But that's very sad.

[Mario]

Definitely cancer is awful, awful, awful. I had family member go through prostate cancer.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah, it is, it's terrible. On a completely different note, I watched the first of a three episode series that has kind of captivated me.

[Evan]

Okay, what is it?

[Drew Franklin]

It's called Bin Laden Manhunt.

[Mario]

Okay.

[Drew Franklin]

That's, it's number one on Netflix. If you get on there, you'll see it. But it's just about how they tried to find bin Laden. And I have to say it was a lot more into it. You know, you watch that movie, you just think, well, they just dropped into that house in Pakistan and there you go. But the first part of it's about 911. There's some stuff I didn't know about, about 911. I also didn't, there's just a, I mean, I don't want to spoil it, but there's, there's a lot they, they go into some specifics that I had never heard that I found really interesting. Have you seen it yet?

[Mario]

No. I started to turn it on last night and I had to be up very early this morning. I'm like, I don't need to get locked in.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah, you need to like, when you start, you're going to keep going.

[Mario]

I knew exactly what would happen. But I've seen enough clips. I'm very interested. Might even do that tonight. But it's. It looks good.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah, so it is. It is very, very, very well done. I'm just through. I'm only to 2003. So, you know, they did it in like 2011. So I'm still got eight years of. But. But basically I didn't know in like 2002, 2003, they had him cornered. They were like on top of a mountain and they saw bin laden and like 800 of his people below and they bombed it, apparently thinking they had wiped them out. But they had underground caves and a bunch of them got away. And once they got away, they, in the case, they had no idea where he was and it took them years to find him again. So they saw him like, they saw him from the top of a mountain in like 2003. And they asked, according to the CIA people, they asked the Defense Department to send people in Marines. They said no. And so they felt like they had to bomb him to have any chance. And he got away in an underground cave system.

[Mario]

Is this show going to end with the rock explaining his tweet?

[Drew Franklin]

I don't know. It's a good question. I would be interested in learning how that was. But they, they were, they said they, they were. They thought they had him. And then when they went down to look at everything, they saw that he had, he had created in like a year, this cave system that got him out. That got him out, what, eight years.

[Evan]

Right, to try to find him and get there.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah. From there I have eight more years to get him. But. But that's where I am right now.

[Evan]

Good. Hiding places.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah. Apparently they said George W. Bush had a cabinet meeting after 911 where he said something like, all right, where are we? How are we going to get these guys? How are we going to find bin Laden? And they looked at the defense secretary was Donald Rumsfeld, and he said something like, in order for us to invade Afghanistan to get him, it will take about six months. And Bush apparently said something like, that's too long. And then the guy in the CIA, who's this dude that is kind of the main interviewer on the thing, he goes, you give him six months or you give me six weeks, I'll have his eyeballs to you in a platter.

[Mario]

Oh, my goodness.

[Drew Franklin]

Now, it did only take him 10 years from then.

[Mario]

That attitude. That's the attitude you want to have.

[Drew Franklin]

Well, apparently then Bush looks at him and goes, I like it. Which you can totally see him say. And then he put the CIA in charge of it because of that.

[Mario]

There's some bad dudes that pulled that off. I'm sure there's a lot of cool.

[Drew Franklin]

And we just, just want to show the love and we feel their pain.

Well, that's very kind of you. And there since the senator was on, I've gotten a couple messages that, that, that operations center which is next to Calvary Baptist Church. They do, if people want to come, they do have things for people to do. They would just ask that you go there first before you just show up somewhere, unless you know somebody. So. So, yes, but they, and I, I do think, you know, today, if people are in a drivable area, today is. Is kind of the day. And I keep seeing, and I appreciate the call. I keep seeing these Amish people. Like, I don't know where they're from around. I don't. There's not a lot of Amish people right here, are there, in this part of the state?

[Evan]

I'm not aware of an Amish community.

[Mario]

Close by in this neighborhood.

[Drew Franklin]

But I mean, that's. I don't know. For some reason that's really touching to me to see all the, the Amish people here, because that's a. We've seen quite a few of them since we've been here. Including kids.

That's right.

In those. Because you can tell by the hats, right?

That was one of the first groups we saw on our. Driving around right in the middle of a pile digging through its. Try to help out whatever they can do.

Running on DraftKings has put out the first line of the year for Kentucky football. Kentucky and Toledo, Shannon, you didn't hear us talking about it. We already did. So you want to take a guess as to what DraftKings says the line is for Kentucky? Toledo.

I'll say Kentucky. Six and a half.

Wow. You are definitely not confident. Six and a half. I thought this was.

Well, I mean, I keep hearing about how Toledo could beat us. I mean, six and a half doesn't feel like a crazy number.

Well, it's 12 and a half. 12 and a half, which I thought was a little low and disrespectful. Well, Shannon would have been much more disrespectful. What do you think about 12 and a half?

[Mario]

Well, we had this conversation last week and I said it'll probably be around 17. You know, normally these first games, it's 20 something. You know, you're trying to cover a big spread, make a few dollars, get behind the cats, but seeing 12 and a half for a non conference opponent like that, that's not the Most comforting number.

[Drew Franklin]

12 and a half.

[Mario]

Where. Where would you put your hard earned dollar?

[Evan]

But that's a good number because Kentucky has trouble covering this first game. They always win, but it's always, like you said, in the 20s, and they don't cover.

So would you go Kentucky or Toledo?

[Evan]

[Drew Franklin]

He wants to say. He wants to say Toledo, but we know how negative he's been, Shannon. So now he says, obviously I would.

Take Toledo because I thought six and a half. So, I mean.

I'm down on the cats as much as anyone, but at 12 and a half, I think I'd have to bet him and just hope the Calzada Experience gets off with a great start. That's a low number.

A good Calzada with hot sauce.

And if they don't cover, we got bigger problems than. Than the money I would lose on that spread.

To me, that's what made the race Entertaining. Was that move?

Well, yeah, but it's dangerous. I mean, those horses could have fallen.

Could have. Just a little bump. It was like Benny Snell busting through the line of scrimmage. Just get out of the way. Let me go, baby.

Yeah, it was quite a thing. And then he basically almost came to a stop and then started back and.

I'm not a historian on racing, but that's got to be one of the more exciting finishes.

Go back and look. I don't remember what race it is. One of the Triple Crown races. A fleet Alex, like, almost goes to one knee and comes back and wins and wins. And this is. This is probably the thing that's most like that.

Yeah. With 50 yards to go on, there's not. He doesn't have a prayer to catching that horse. And somehow he caught him at the wire.

It was a good call to the Preakness guy.

Excited. That Preakness guy was great. He was like. Like you read in the newspaper. He got. He got really. That dude's good. I don't know his name.

That dude is really good. So now, are you more likely to watch Journalism versus Sovereignty in the Belmont? Kind of. Each of them won one.

[Evan]

Yep. You know, they came down to the wire at the Derby. Now they're going to go head to head again. They each have one win. I'm going to. I probably would watch it where I wouldn't have before if this hadn't happened.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah. I found out by the way, next year, the Preakness is at Laurel, not at Pimo, because they're tearing down Pimo and building it back up. And the Belmont's in Saratoga. So this whole. We can't move the Triple Crown races because of tradition. Next year, two of the three, and the Belmont's not even the same distance next year. And this year, Belmont's not a mile and a half. It's a mile and quarter. So all this about. Oh, we can't change anything. They're changing two of the three races next year, the tracks and one of them the distance.

[Mario]

But don't you dare change the date.

[Drew Franklin]

Don't you.

Don't you move it a Saturday.

Do not. You. I agreed with Randy Moss. Randy Moss said we have and not Randy Moss a football player, the other Randy Moss. We have a way to fix this and I think he said we are hand cut. We are self handcuffing ourselves by tradition. I like that line.

We had a lot. There was a group in the CIA of and it ended up it was all women. And they worked specifically on Al Qaeda. And they had warnings for six months, they said, saying we might get attacked by planes. They're planning a big attack. And they said they kept going to the CIA and FBI heads, and it just never got passed up the chain.

Yeah. Apparently there was somebody that walked into one of the offices and they had stacks of paper. This was like three weeks before 9 11. Somebody goes, where are all those stacks of paper? And he says, I want there to be written proof that I've tried to warn people about.

Wow. So, yeah, that makes you the worst.

Terrorist attack in our history. And we had a little heads up on it.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah. There is also, you know, when you watch it, George Bush comes off, like, a little bit reckless in terms of stuff, but he also delivers a line I'd forgot about, which is when he speaks to Congress right after 9 11, he gives a line. That's a pretty amazing line. He goes, we will bring who did this to. We will bring who did this to justice. And if that does not happen, we will bring justice to them. It's like, whoa.

[Mario]

I think it's pretty good.

[Drew Franklin]

That's a pretty great line.

[Mario]

Yeah.

[Drew Franklin]

By who? By. By former President Bush.

[Mario]

Yeah. They're probably in their caves and get that clip like, oh, we're in trouble.

Well, I mean, that was one of the things is they couldn't figure out he. Remember he would put all those videos out and they couldn't figure it out. They finally figured out where he was at one point by looking in the background. One person, like, dipped their shoulder in, and by the shirt they were wearing, they could tell where they were.

You're kidding.

Yeah. And if not for that, they would have had no leads.

Well, yeah, they get those. I remember seeing those videos, and they were no idea where they were recorded.

He didn't know it was being recorded. He just walked in. And that shirt had a logo of a team that was in a town, which is where they were.

Just wanted to give a shout out. You know, we've got first responders, linemen that are working around the clock. They're tired. And just a shout out to all the, all the hard work that's going on to help people recover.

Well, thank you for that. And we see these trucks everywhere, so I, we appreciate all you're doing and thank you for coming. Mario has been walking around the neighborhood for the last couple hours. So while we've been doing the show, so I want him to hop on. He just walked back. Mario, you've been walking back there for the last couple hours. What, you know, you've never even been down here. What's your, what, what's your thought on what you saw?

Absolutely devastating. Absolutely devastating. Like, it's pretty hard to put into words of what I see, but like everything's completely destroyed pretty much. And I think that really stood, stood out to me the most is the people, they still strong. They're. They know that. I've talked to a few people down there and you know, they described it as a nightmare. I was the main thing. You know, they said that this is absolutely like a nightmare. And then for me, as like a 25 year old dude, being able to come here and see this, it's another example that proves like, tomorrow is not really promised. Like you don't know exactly what can happen, you know, in the future. So you got it. You can't take your life for granted. In general.

[Drew Franklin]

I can tell over the last few hours this has made you kind of emotional.

[Caller]

Yeah, absolutely, man. It's. I, I always hear about tornado warnings and all this, but you know, I'm not, I'm not gonna say I don't take it seriously or whatever the case may be, but we get them so much. It's like, you know, it's a part of life. But to actually see these people, you know, experience this and go through this, you see how serious the tornado can be and how destructive it can be.

[Drew Franklin]

Like in general, you were walking past through the neighborhoods as people are cleaning up. Was it, is it just a sad.

[Caller]

Yeah, it's Sad. It's absolutely 100% sad. I mean, people these People are telling me how, like, they had someone, you know, they were stuck in rubble. Like, like their legs were almost cut off. And, you know, they. They came together with their family and they had to sit with them in passing. Like, like as he passed away, like someone sat with the person with their legs under rubble.

[Drew Franklin]

Wait a minute. You talk to someone who. They sat with their family member as they passed.

[Caller]

Yeah, yeah, their neighbors and family member. And their legs were covered like they were in rubble.

[Evan]

I wasn't there.

[Caller]

This is what they're telling me. And their legs are covered under rubble. And they sat with them as he passed. Like, it's those type of stories that just, like, blew me away. Really hard to put into words in general. You just gotta. You gotta be thankful for life, man. You never know when. When life is gonna hit you like this.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah. When that's off. Well, appreciate you coming down here as well. Thank you, Mario. And listen, thank all of you who have written over the last couple days who are asking, you know, what, what, what, what do you. What do you. What you can do? And all of that. Well, as Mario said it, you know, you hate. You have to have a tragedy like this to remind you, but just appreciate what you have. You know, we all complain about little daily problems, but you know, there's bigger things that out there that are much more unfortunate and tragic.

Yeah, and my prayers to everyone around here, not just in London, but Somerset and the other areas. You know, this is. We'll. We will fight through this and we'll be here to help however we can. But you know, when you go to. When you go to bed tonight and you say your prayers, keep. Keep these people in mind because there's a lot of them and it's going to be a long, long time. And as with all these tragedies, we'll. We'll go away, we'll go on with our lives, but it will still be a part for these folks for a long time.
