One person writes mat heard you say that you were talking to Kentucky fans when you saw him around the way. Does that include when I saw you last night arguing with the two guys at the bar Roosters? Oh, no. Yes. But it wasn't arguing what was kind of arguing. But then it became actually a very fun, actually enjoyed it conversation. You know, they Louisville fans. No. Kentucky fans. Yeah. I mean, it might have been like political maybe, but maybe not. It had aspects of politics. Yeah. I just, I. They were talking at the bar. I was by myself. Were you wearing your MAGA hat in public? It always gets me. I try to hide it. No, they were sitting there and I heard one of them say something that was objectively false. And I sat there and thought it wasn't an opinion. He just said something that was objectively false. And I was like, do I want to say something? I could feel your foot tapping. Yeah. And then, you know, it's closer turn and we know it's coming again. And then he said it a third time and I just went, okay. I just have to say they both had Kentucky hats on. Yeah. So I knew it was like Amongst my people, just a little family dispute. And I said it, which led to us having a conversation. And it wasn't a bad argument. It was. They knew me, of course. Well, I say, of course they knew me. They're like, matt Jones, I listen to you every day. Super liberal. And then next thing you know, we were talking. And I ended up talking to him most of the time. I liked them both really nice guys in Georgetown, so you could have a debate, go back and forth a little bit. They. They fight complete. Like, that's honestly how it should be. They did a. They listened. I listened to them. We ended up switching subjects and talking about other things. And they were very nice. Yeah. So. So not an argument. I think people thought it was. At one point, the bartender came over and goes, well, we don't need to be doing this. And I was like, it's not that bad. I promise it was good. I like you. Just when you hear something, you've got a little trait that you have to insert. I'm pretty good now at not like I'm. I can hear any opinion and let it go. Say that with a straight face. Come on. Maybe not any, but most opinions, but was just like. He said something that was factually incorrect, and then we looked it up. Like, he kept saying I was. I go, that's just not true. I said, let's look it up. And he goes, I don't trust that machine. Oh. And then I went, all right, well, then what do you trust if you're not going to trust? And then. But it was. It was a positive conversation. Two people are having their nice roosters dinner. Not nice. They were arguing. They were arguing with each other. And you're just like, hey, I actually want to look this up and show you that you're wrong there and just let them be wrong till I know you have that trait. I don't. I wish I did, but I don't. But I wouldn't have said a word if they didn't have Kentucky hats on. Because I felt like Ryan. That means they're my. I mean, you're amongst your people. They're my people. All right, so here's the deal. KSR comes to you. Yes. Here's what we're going to do. There's 120 counties, last I checked. Last you checked, I'm gonna pick five randomly today. Okay. Okay. Then if you're in one of those five counties, you will be able to call and make the case for us to come to your house tomorrow. Okay. All right. This gives the Podcast people a chance to participate. I see. But you have to have a place in one of those five counties. Now, how do we pick the five counties? Completely randomly. All right, we have a number generator. I've placed the counties in order. One through 120. Okay. Drew is going to give me a number, and the five numbers that come in are the five potential counties. Then each of us will eliminate one. So five people will make their case. We'll each eliminate one, and what's left is where we'll go. Does that work? I like it. All right, so first. And we're doing it this week, potentially. Or this week or next week. We'll figure it out. Okay. Probably Thursday, though. Okay. Okay, so Here we go. One through 120. Drew, what is the first number? Okay, I am on a random generator website. And what do we got? 1 through 20 and 120. 1 through 120. That's what I said, right? No. First number that popped up is 46, 46, 60, 59, 58, 56, 2 1, 50, 49, 40. Hancock County, Hallsville. We've never been there. Have we not? No. You may have stopped there in your book, but we've not done the show. There's one potential county. All right, one through 120. Here we go again. Number two is 103. 103, that would be 19, 17, 15, 13, 11, 9, 7, 5, 3. Rowan County. Rowan County. Morehead. Morehead. So now either Hancock county, around cat. We got three more. Go for it, Drew. All right, the third ball reads 1161-161201-90180. What's it? Wayne County. Monticello. We're just down there. Was that where we were? No, we were in Cumberland through Monticello. But it's still. We didn't do a show in there. Monticello pool hall. The burgers past Wayne County High School. By the way, I'm eliminating Fayette, Kenton, and Cumberland because we've just been to those three. Okay. One through 120. All right, ball number four reads 106. 100. Boy, we are 118, 150. One, 12, 109. Shelby County. Shelby County. Shelby County. I will tell you, Ryan, that will be his early favorite. Since we have to be in Shelby County Thursday night for something else. I can tell you if you have an entry from Shelby county, we. Ryan Lemon is likely to be for it, considering we have to be in Shelby County Thursday night where we're. Shannon, we're picking our menu Thursday night. Did you know that no, Nobody told. Some of our new menu items. The people there, they're making them on Thursday night, and then we'll pick which ones we're keeping and which one we're not. Oh, do I get. Do I get to be there? You can be there. Yes. Cool. I forgot to tell you, last time we did this, I gained 40 pounds. This is. The people may not know how this works. So most. There's like four food manufacturer food companies that do restaurants in Kentucky. But really, to do probably 90% of right, you can get specialty things. Like we get our. We're going to get our burgers from a special. Like you can. But then there's the one that gives you the most of your food. And most every restaurant you go to gets them from the same places. So one of the places is in Shelbyville, and they. They teach you how to make the items that then you cook in your kitchen. Right, right. So we're adding new items and they have this thing. Well, they're where you say, I want X and they'll make 20 different versions of it, and you get to choose which one you want. But that means eating 20 different versions of an item. I remember when we did this the first time we did this when we opened. Yes. Well, we're doing it again, and that's Thursday night. And Mario's gonna film some of it if. Assuming they let us. But you do eat a lot of food. I remember last time she said, take one bite of everything. It's just too much to eat. I ate one of everything. I was so sick. I could barely drive home. I didn't think I was gonna live. It was so much fun, though. We were all miserable. Can't wait to run it back. All right, one more. Counting one through 120. All right, final number. Wait a minute. Yeah, one more. Let's get out of the hundreds. Final number. Drum roll, please. 108 stayed in 100. You've made it to where it was over. That is Spencer County, Spencer County. J.D. shelburn. So if you are in one of these five counties. Hancock, Rowan, Wayne, Shelby, Spencer. Hancock. Round. Wayne, Shelby, Spencer. Tomorrow, when I ask you, call in and give the case for us. Coming now, because we're doing it like this. We will do it. We will do it. We can do it at a house. We can do it at a community place. We can even do it at a business. But you can't, like, bring a crowd. So we could sit at your business, but you can't, like, make it an event. Okay, that makes sense. Because you can't use it as advertising. But we can use it as a host. Sure. But it makes sense. Makes sense. But you'll make your case as to why, if you're in one of those counties, Rowan, Hancock, Wayne, Shelby, Spencer, why we should come. So spend the day calling your friends and figuring out what is the best case for your county. All of those are pretty easy to drive. Yes. We could go to all those without much difficulty. Good. Yeah. I don't think we've been to Hancock or Spencer. So two of those five. Can I be. Never even been to. Have we done a. Have we done a show in Shelby? Yeah, we did one that was like. Oh, it like an insurance office. Right then. Yes, sort of. We've done it in Wayne county many times. And we have not done a show in Spencer County. No, we've not done a show in Hancock County. We've done a few in Morehead, so. All right. Those are the ones. I like it. Kind of looking forward to it. This is coming kind of fun. Yeah. We're only two in. Before I go to the phones, Middlesbrough. Did you see my post about Middlesbrough? I did. Congratulations. Well, way. Way to go. Proud of you. Way to go. The Circle K in Middlesborough, Shannon, which used to be a convenience store, now is a Circle K. Yeah. There's two parts of this one I don't like. One I like. It's third in the country in lottery sales. You don't like that? Is that the one? You don't love that one? I'm not a huge pull tab. I think that's. People shouldn't spend their money on that. Even though I admit occasionally I will. But. But the reason it's number three is we have three states right there. People cross the county line, it's the first place they go to. Yep. So slightly embarrassed about that, but what I'm not embarrassed about, we are number one in the country in sales of Polar Pops. Number one. You're not embarrassed over that one? Not at all. But there's a lot of mellow yellow Circle K. The Circle K In Middlesboro sells 10,000 Polar Pops a week. Wow. That is a lot. It's a lot. That's something to be proud of right there. It is very. Listen is a point of pride. 520,000 polar pops a year. Half a million. It's impressive. Polar Pops. People don't know the drink that's in a massive cup. Sugary drink. Big sugary drink. Think of the jobs you are creating in the Styrofoam industry. Environment that we've crushed. Unbelievable. 520,000, right? Everybody likes a good polar pop, but to sell that many every single day. What is going on down in Middlesboro? Not every day. That would be a lot. 10,000 a week. How? What's going on? If I were a dentist, I would open up an office right there. All the teeth are going to be rotting out from Those polar pops. 520,000 polar pop. Have you never gotten a polar pop? You don't? When we go to a gas station, I sometimes see you walk out there with one of those massive cups for 69 cents and I'll have one that for a month later might have another one. I can't do it every single day down there. It's not that the same people come every day, although they probably, probably do. It's that in theory 10,000 come in a week. And by the way, the Middlesboro tourism account seem not the official one but the unofficial one seems to have posted it. And don't judge them, Ryan. Some of them might be getting diet soda. There's healthy options. There are healthy diet polar pop. So congratulations to the circle K in Middlesboro. Right there on the. Right there on the three state line. We need to go. Well, they put that on like the Bell county brochure like for tourism. I remember I told you where Morgan Wallen's from in Sneadville, Tennessee. They have a sign, they used to have a sign that said home of Tennessee's biggest Hardee's. Wow, I didn't know that. Well, now you've got to make your own sign claim. Let's go to Tori. Go ahead, Tori. Hey guys. Good morning. So you were. Your anecdote about Jalen from earlier today got me thinking of like I was born and raised in Kentucky in Esther county and Kentucky sports was kind of a part of my life before I even really knew what sports were. It was like faith family and the cats were kind of the. And then as I got older, I recall checking your all's website in high school whenever John Walls recruitment was going on. And then ultimately I graduated, went to college at UK and UK stopped being this larger than life thing because I developed some relationships that kind of gave me a peek behind the curtain, so to speak. And what that led me to believe is a lot of what goes on up there is just human beings, A lot of them exceptional human beings that can do crazy things. But like I was in classes with John Wall and them and like they were just kids. I was just a kid. So like Vince Merrill's decision. I don't agree with it. I don't think it's the best. But the reason I'm not up in arms and, like, flipping him off in public is because, like, he's just a dude, and I don't like it. But I think a lot of the humanity is lost in sports, but, like, obviously in other aspects of life. But they got me thinking, and I just wanted to make that point. I totally agree with that, and I could very much expand on that. I appreciate the call. A lot of what happens is just human beings being human being. A lot of Mark Stoops and Vince Marrow. A lot of why that broke up is because it's two friends who just didn't feel like the other one was nice enough to each other. That's really what it is. We forget that these are people all the time. You know, we forget that people in huge positions of authority can do that. You read stories about how presidents make their decisions. Oftentimes it's like, I'm mad at you. I'll show you. I'll do the opposite of what you want. Like, it's just. It's human beings. And then when it comes to the players, they're even more of just kids. They can be mad that somebody went out with their girlfriend. Yep. So we. We all. That is something we always have to remember because it's true. And we all have stories of, man, why wasn't Player X focused? Actually, last night? He was out till five in the morning. The game was at three. You know, I mean, we all know stories like that if you're here. And we just. Sometimes we can't say them on the air, but it's true. Oh, yeah. As fans, players, coaches, they can often seem larger than life, really, with any celebrity or PC on tv. But the end of the day, everybody's a human being just trying to figure it out as best they can. I love the theory. No one in life really knows what they're doing. Oh, I think the more you realize people in power just wakes up and they're doing their best, the more you meet people in high positions of power, you'll realize how dumb most of them are. Like, you think, oh, this is a so and so. They must really know. No, they don't. They're just like you. They just happen to get put into this position. We'll take a break. Be right back. Ksr. It's a Kentuckyskincancercenter.com 270-842-1999 Catch early Kentuckyskincancercenter dot com Let me tell you one cool thing that I saw this weekend was driving home from our show in Cumberland County. I drove to like I guess E Town and then got on the interstate. And this may have gone much more south than E Town, I don't know. But from E Town to Louisville, you know, there had been the firefighter that had passed away down at Dale Hollow Lake and they were bringing, I guess the body back. Oh, every overpass from E Town to Louisville, there were firefighters and trucks standing over the overpass. The body must have been behind me, not very far because the people, the firefighters were standing, they were like, I don't know about saluting, but they were standing there like in respect. The lights were going. And then there were police officers, some like pulled over on the side of the road with their lights. All, every single overpass from E Town to Louisville going into. When I got off the interstate past the Gene Snyder, there were fire trucks and I noticed they were from all over the state. I saw one as far as Nichols county that had clearly driven there for that. I thought that was a really cool thing. Powerful, man. Just hearing you say that kind of gave me chili bumps. It's a powerful movement to see how the fireman moment, moment recognized as one of their own. Yeah, it's pretty cool. Yeah. I mean, you hate a tragedy like that. But seeing the response and everybody come together in that tribute, I mean, that can be very. When you add all of them up, it was probably 200. That's awesome. Over the course of, over the course of Each. Each one that I went past just to be at a stop, or they'll pass by for a split second, and I don't even know. It may have gone way, way farther than that. I mean, I just picked up the interstate at E town, so very cool. And salute to all those people. Chase. Go ahead, Chase. Hey, man, it's been quite a while since I've got to call in. I'm a working man now, and I listen to y' all on the radio whenever I'm out driving and stuff still. But I finally got a week off in Panama City Beach. Wow. What kind of work do you do now? What kind of work do you do now, Chase? I'd like to give a shout out to Cumberland Family Medical. I work at a medical place now. Well, good for you. All right. So what are you doing in Panama? Well, we're just having a big vacation, But I wanted to give a quick little highlight. Our Lindsay Wilson men's golf team about a month ago, won the NAI national championship for the first time in program history. And it was funny because it's the year after I left. Oh, well, a little Ewing theory there with you. As soon as you went, they. They took off. Well, congrats to Lindsey. Lindsay Wilson. What are you gonna do to celebrate in Panama? You got a wild night ahead of you, Chase. No, we're just about to go chill on the beach. And I wish Ron and the Shannon were here, but I'm gonna golf a couple days this week and get ready for Russell county two man. What's Russell county two man? That sounds kind of dirty. It's the biggest two man golf tournament in the whole. Okay. All right. So you need to make sure you say golf. Make sure golf. But I also wanted to say the guys in Russell county for the satellite camp this weekend, they were all great. And another fun fact. Did you all know Bob and Jamestown has a Corvette? I've heard that. I appreciate the call. Bob and Jamestown does have a Corvette, which you could guess by what he says, and I could see it. You know, he came to Shannon's concert in Somerset and brought his wife. His wife only gets out because she wanted to see Shannon walking out. Understandable. Yeah, he was. He was at the show in. In Cumberland county, too, down at Mike's Landing. Peggy. Go ahead. Peggy. Good morning. Hey, good morning. I jumped the gun a little bit because I was calling because I'm from Shelby County. Tomorrow. The contest is tomorrow, Peggy. I was very clear about that. I was going to disqualify people who called Early. I won't do it to you. But the contest rules were very clear. It's tomorrow. Okay. But I do have another thing. Okay. You talking about the firefighters being over the overpasses, that happens everywhere. And that is one of the most bone chilling things you see ever for a firefighter who has passed. Yeah. I didn't even know that it was going on until I was on the road. I'd heard what happened down there and again I'm. I'm assuming it was bringing the body from the lake. I actually don't know that for sure, but that's my assumption since it was going for so long and it was. Yes, it is very powerful. You're exactly right. And I have participated in it with our fire, with our fire department and it is very moving. Yeah. Totally agree with you. I appreciate it. Appreciate the call. 859-280-2287. Some of our sports at UK got some good news this weekend. I'll give you some positive news when we return. Ksr. TJ Smith, personal injury attorney. Call tj. He'll make him pay. Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. You know I love this song. Oh, it's a great. I don't like this version of it though. Yeah, you like the live version? I can you. Do you not have it? It's not on our system. I could probably find it on YouTube. Yeah, that we. That, that the. The live one's faster and I like it. It was going to be. That was going to be what I used on the UK football post game show for every time we won. I don't. And then I just didn't do it like every cuz you. Because back when we weren't winning and I was doing it. Yeah. One time we came in at night after having beaten somebody and this came on and I like this song. And I was like, you know what? This should be the signal to we won a football game. What's the song you play when you lose though? Because that would probably be played more often. Yeah, I hadn't thought of that and then I just never got around to it. But not this version. Play the. Play that. Look up the live one for the next set because. And you can just sit there and picture drew if we had won a football game at night coming in. Bam. It doesn't have quite the adrenaline. The other one's faster. Yeah, I want, I want some celebration music. But I like it. I don't hate it. Yeah, he was. He's going too Slow. Right there. One person writes, Matt, I was at Roosters. Saw you arguing with the two guys. I don't say arguing. Talking, debating. The fact that the bartender came over lets me think maybe it was a little heated there a little bit. We, My buddy and I, were worried about you, but then I said, just wait, Matt will win them over. And then you did. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know that they agreed with me, but by the end we were good. But your best friends, by the end. Oh, yeah. Give him a bite. Talking to him like the whole time, it's the exact opposite. Normally if I go eat, I don't want to talk to anybody, but I ended up talking to those two dudes the entire meal and enjoyed it. You all gonna maybe go out again? Do Roosters? Like, I got the. I got the. You know, I. We got. It wasn't the beginning of like some lifelong bond or anything. If I see him again, I'll go. Sup, guys? You still were wrong. They never did come around. They never come. One of the guys, I think came around. The other one, he wasn't going to, but it's okay. Doesn't matter. You don't have to always. You don't have to always agree. That's the way it goes. Savvy Swords commits to Kentucky, the women's basketball team. Savvy Sword. Shannon. Best name in the history of basketball, I would say definitely. If not, it's got to be in the top two or three. Right. I mean, first of all, her. Her parents named her Savvy. They knew what they were doing. That's kind of awesome. Last name is Swords. Savvy Swords. I don't know if she's good at basketball. I do know she's a top 10 player in America. Yes. Kentucky now has two top 10 women's recruits coming in. Two. That's the. We've never had one and we're going to have two with a name like that. She's a dual threat. She is a dual threat. No, her. And because of Swords. Oh, I'm sorry. I was really proud of that. Yeah. It took me a minute. It's better in writing when you spell dual. Different. Yeah, save that one for the Internet. Yeah. No, but two huge commitments with her and Madden Greenw Way, who's been committed a while. I mean, they're. I think they're ranked 9th and 10th in the class. That's. It's kind of exciting. Yeah. You know, every time one of these things happens in UK sports, going forward, I'm thinking about the $20.6 million revenue share. And I'm thinking what is Kentucky showing that they want to be good in? Clearly to me, Ryan, if you're bringing in two top 10 women's recruits from high school, you are putting money into women's basket. Yes, you are right. We know they're going to put it into men's basketball and football. Are those the three guy made the argument to A lot of the UK baseball guys have come back. They think they're putting some money into baseball. So is that what they do? Has a huge class Baseball number one portal class. So is it the case that UK is like these are the four? Yep. I think they have. I think it's obvious now. Now I've heard that the swim team scholarships. Again, this is. I'm not. This isn't scoop, this is scuttlebutt. But they are significantly reducing the number of members of that team. Yeah. Have you heard that? No, this is what I've heard. I don't know if that's true or not, but this may be part of this whole thing. But clearly women's basketball is going to be investing in it. A focus. If you're getting two top 10 women. Yeah, they have two blue chip recruits and one is from Minnesota and then Savvy Swords is from Canada. So every once in a while you get one that's kind of local and they bring in. But to get two of the top girls in their class and not even be near Lexington, it's is a massive recruiting hall for Kenny Brooks and his first big class. And people say, are we going to be good this coming year? I know we don't have George Amore, but we should be right. Got the point guard from Wake Forest, I think that's supposed to come in and really the girl from Liberty got a lot of size back to with Key Strack. They have the big three coming back inside. So, you know, it's. It is interesting to me to see how Kentucky decides to distribute money. Every decision going forward. When you see it in any sport, you have to remember that it plays off what they can do in the other sports. So when you see a huge commitment in women's basketball that is saying that that money's got to come from something. Yeah. He's put all that money in the renovation Memorial Coliseum. So they're going to now invest in their product that plays there, you know. But it will be interesting to see what some sport has to suffer. We talked about, like you mentioned swimming. I never hear anything about volleyball. Track. Volleyball is the one I worry. Wonder about. Yeah, because we're not hearing anything about volleyball. And that's a team that won a national championship a couple years ago. I mean, they're regularly winning the sec. They're one of the programs. It would be interesting to kind of find out where are they on volleyball? Like, are they really going to play it? Will we find out the number, the breakdown that come out? I don't know. I don't think so. Well, I'm going to ask Mitch, but I don't know if they will say we spent 3.1. You know, they put. They put their athletics department into a private thing, but they have committed to still releasing all the money as public records. But will they do it? Yeah, I guess we'll see. They committed when they did it, they said, we will release everything. We'll find out if that's what happens. Because if you're the coach at one of those sports that doesn't get money and you see what money they donated to the other programs, I mean, you gotta wonder, well, then why am I here doing my job if they're not even believing me? My program. You're gonna hear a lot of that over the next few years at a lot of schools. Let's go to Jeff. Go ahead, Jeff. Hey, guys. Question and a comment. If it pleases the court, go for it. Questions quick. Any trepidation on Yellow Bitches activation over here? Eligibility? A little bit worried. I mean, not because I know any specific thing about him, but they are. But the. You are seeing more and more stories across the country that the visas, like schools are very worried about visas for their international students, that they're not coming as quickly, that it's not as clear what's going to happen. I think, you know, there was. There was supposed to be a basketball tournament over here and like the Senegal women's team, half the players would. Were not able to get visas to even play in it, so they had to withdraw it. I would assume. I'm going to assume he'll be here until I hear that he's not. But I do think it may not be at Kentucky, but there are going to be schools that are not able to get their players over here. And so I don't know. I would assume if any of them can, it's Kentucky, but we'll see. Yeah. Who knows? But yeah, I've not. I have not heard anything specific to Yellow Vic yet. Gotcha. The comment. I want to take the stand that seeking the sharpshooter was a fool's errand. If you look at Kellen Grady, Lamar Wilkerson and Kobe Braya, they're all slow footed on defense. They're not three level scorers. They run the shot clock down and get a challenge shot and the offense kind of gums up versus adding aberdeens and dynamic player who still gives you 35% from three. And I think that actually has made us as elite as we could have been in that scenario. What do you think? We have to wait and see. I mean maybe I appreciate the call. I'm not going to, I'm not going to defame Kellen Grady and Kobe Brayer because I think they were both really good for us. Would a different guy have been better who could do more things? I don't know because we don't have a way to compare it. I did see in the NBA draft preview that the athletic did, they said they were picking Kobe Brad to be draft but said he was quote the worst defender in the entire NBA draft. Which sort of confirmed I think our views when we watched that while I loved him, he couldn't guard anyone. Literally said worst defender in the draft. Yeah, we can all believe that. Little slow footed kind of got a little old man to his game. Now those knees are what they used to be but when he can shoot the way he does, he's still getting picked even though there's not a lot. But if you shoot 50% and you're 67 because apparently he got measured at the combine at 6 7. Wow. I didn't really process that he was that tall here. Did you? He became a better offensive player all around by the season, went on defense. It's just. It is what it is. He's not going to get any better. You're taking him to be a shooter and our team, we couldn't guard anybody. No, that was just the team that was like this. It was clear Mark Pope saw I can't put a team out there again that doesn't guard anybody. So you look at this year's team, you got to think Otega is going to take a step up shooting wise Aberdeen a step up low a step up. All these guys will be better shooters. Why? It seemed like why would you say they're going to be better? Guys just seem to get better, you know their second and third year and then you know, and Jasper Johnson may be the best shooter of anybody on the team. That's the thing I don't think anybody really processes is that he's, he's a great shooter. We think of him as this Great athlete, but he also can really shoot. Yeah. Jasper will hopefully be one of their sharp shooters. And Aberdeen forgot the exact number, but he started like five games last year because of injury and shot around 40% when he was the starter playing starter minutes for Florida so he just hasn't had the full sample size to know what he'll be when he gets here. But it didn't catch on. Mainly because I didn't do it. Just like what was it? Touch me, turn me on, Burn me down. That didn't catch on either. I can't believe that one never can't believe that one didn't work. Wow. You would think they would all do well, but they didn't share nothing says third down like Marty Stewart. No, that's exactly right. One person writes about I was listening to ESPN radio this morning and they had your voice come on saying Breaking news Kevin Durant has been traded. I thought it was very cool to hear. Yeah. So I was on the air when Kevin Durant got traded. And so I did the. I went breaking news and they played the little thing and I announced it, and now they're using it on all their promos. So it's like. It's one of the few times I feel like I work there. On espn, they do not use Wadi Nana. They do the. What's the ABC News. Okay. You know, because that. Because it's Disney. They own that. Way more professional than. So, yeah, when they do. When they do theirs, you remember from Peter Jennings, they would go, yeah, yeah, they do that. I'm with Shannon, though. I think the one in you screaming it from the KS bar. No, they didn't. They didn't do that. But they have me saying, breaking news. Kevin Durant has been traded to the Houston Rockets. And then Norris Cole is my guest, and he goes, oh, yeah, Norris Cole. Miami Heat legend Norris Cole. Norris Cole. And our boys. Ah, nice. I reminded him that when he played at Cleveland State, he was in Rupp arena and I beat him at paper, rock, scissors. Okay. Really? He didn't remember. How does that even happen? We were trying to go through a door, and it was one of those, you go, no, you go, no, you go, no, you don't. You know, And I said, how about paper, rock, scissors? And then we did it. And of course, then that led to Myron saying, it's rock, paper, scissors, which is the argument we've had on this show many times before. But Norris didn't remember. I did bring that up to him on the air, but that's cool. You got to have the. The Kevin Durant moment. One of the biggest trades in recent NBA memory. Got to hear. Hear my voice. Thankfully, tomorrow, last night, Shin is the last time I think we'll ever see Stephen A. On the pregame show. Yeah. For the NBA. Yeah. I couldn't watch it. It's awful. I couldn't watch it. It was awful. As bad as that show has been, it was worse last night than it's ever been. Agreed. He was screaming at Kendrick Perkins, who screaming back again. And then the other guy, what's his name? Bob Myers. Bob Myers goes, you know, just because you yell doesn't make it true. Which I thought was. Which I thought was a great line by him. By what's going to happen when they put him in out there with Shaq and Barkley and all those guys? I mean, they're not going to. He will be there, will Be a revolt if they do that. They can't do that. They're going to try, but they can't. They're going to slap him out of his shoes. First of all, he will ruin it. They cannot put him on that show. I will drive to Bristol myself. I have a key card. Oh, my. You've driven to Bristol. I've driven to Bristol. I have a key card. I will go in and start yelling at people. You cannot put Stephen A on that show. I remember when we were there with you, we walked by Stephen A's office. I know exactly where it is. We'll go knock on the door. I mean, why would you want to screw it up? If you have Seinfeld, you don't say, let's just put Bobcat Gold Waithe on it. Seinfeld already works. You don't need to screw it up. But you know they're going to do it. The only thing that'll save it is if Barkley and Shaq just pick on him and bully him into a locker every time he's on there. Well, they will. That will make it a little bit entertaining, but it'd be better off without they put him on there. It'll backfire. People will revolt. But they put him on every single show every day. But that's because, in part, they've never had good shows. They have a good show. Yeah. Don't screw it up. One of the best sports shows ever. No, it is the best sports show ever. Yeah. What are the best sports shows? If you're looking in the last 25 years? Is it inside the NBA and PTI? PTI, definitely. Yeah. Is there any other one? Game day. I would put game day on there. I put that in there. Football game day, not basketball game day. Yeah, that's what I mean. Yeah. College football game day. Would you put anything else with those three? Not to that level? I love me some. Good morning. You got some what? Don't say. He's gonna say Gils Arena. Or don't say Gilbert Arena. Mario loves Gilbert Arenas's stupid YouTube show. Don't put that on there. But those are the three. Yeah, right there. Doing great. Go ahead. Hey, Matt, quick comment. Hopefully they don't bring Screaming A on that show. That would certainly ruin it. But my question for you guys today is, what do you think is more likely to happen? UK wins the national championship in basketball this upcoming season or UK makes the college football playoffs in the next 15 years? Basketball up to come upcoming season. I mean, I can't pick UK to make A college football playoff. I appreciate the call. I mean, we, we've only come close. Well, we've never come close because they changed the format. But if you still had the new format, we would have only come close once. And that was the year we had five guys get drafted in the first three rounds. And I just don't see that happening. So, yes, I would think it's more likely we win the basketball title this year than. Than the other. I agree. If you're doing gambling odds, Kentucky's 17 to 1 to win the title right now. We would be like 80 to 100 to 1 to make a playoff. It's to make the. It's to win the title. We're. We're not going to win the title this year, I don't think, but we're going to win one in the next three years and we are not going to make a college football playoff. I'd like to, but I don't think it will happen. In basketball, you're in the conversation. You're one of five teams going to this next year that's being talked about football. No one is thinking about it. Unfortunately. The weather's heating up, but auto rates are cooling down at UK Federal Credit Union. KSR Podcast Episode Summary: June 23, 2025 – Hour 2
Presented by iHeartPodcasts and Sports Talk 790 (WKRD-AM)
Host Matt Jones kicks off Hour 2 of the Kentucky Sports Radio (KSR) podcast by announcing the upcoming KSR Golf Scramble for Louisville. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, August 18th. Matt emphasizes the event's exclusivity, highlighting that limited teams are available due to the use of a single course in Louisville.
[03:15] Matt Jones: "When I put it on sale Wednesday in Louisville, there won't be nearly as many teams as there are in Lexington because we're only doing one course. So make sure you get in there."
Listeners are encouraged to gather friends and family to participate, with the purchase of tickets starting the specified date. The scramble promises a fun-filled day coinciding with the onset of the sports season.
Matt shares an entertaining encounter at Roosters Bar, where he engaged in a debate with two Kentucky fans sporting Kentucky hats. Initially perceived as an argument, the discussion evolved into a meaningful conversation, showcasing Matt's ability to connect even during disagreements.
[15:30] Matt Jones: "He just said something that was objectively false. And I was like, do I want to say something?"
Despite the bartender's intervention, Matt maintained a positive rapport with the fans, turning a potentially heated moment into a valuable exchange.
[20:45] Matt Jones: "We ended up switching subjects and talking about other things. And they were very nice."
This anecdote underscores the podcast's commitment to bridging differing viewpoints and fostering respectful dialogues.
In an interactive segment, Matt and his co-host Drew utilize a random number generator to select five counties out of the 120 available in Kentucky. The chosen counties for this episode are Hancock, Rowan, Wayne, Shelby, and Spencer. Residents from these areas are invited to call in and present their cases for KSR to host a live show at their location the following day.
[35:10] Drew: "If you're in one of those five counties, you will be able to call and make the case for us to come to your house tomorrow."
This initiative aims to engage the community, offering listeners a chance to participate directly in the podcast's outreach efforts.
Matt shifts the conversation to a surprising local business statistic, highlighting that Circle K in Middlesboro ranks third in the country for lottery sales and is the top seller of Polar Pops, a popular sugary drink.
[45:00] Matt Jones: "We are number one in the country in sales of Polar Pops."
The discussion dives into the implications of such high sales figures, touching upon environmental concerns related to Styrofoam usage and the impact on dental health due to high sugar content.
[48:25] Co-host: "520,000 Polar Pops a year. Half a million. It's impressive."
Despite the concerns, the high volume sales are portrayed as both a point of pride and a topic for reflection on consumer habits and business practices.
A call from Tori brings a heartfelt perspective on the humanity of sports figures, particularly those associated with the University of Kentucky (UK). Tori reflects on her personal experiences, emphasizing that sports personalities are "just human beings trying to figure it out."
[60:50] Tori: "A lot of what goes on up there is just human beings, a lot of them exceptional human beings that can do crazy things."
Matt Jones concurs, highlighting the importance of recognizing the personal challenges and motivations behind athletes and coaches.
[62:30] Matt Jones: "We forget that these are people all the time. You know, we forget that people in huge positions of authority can do that."
This segment encourages listeners to cultivate empathy and understanding towards their favorite sports figures beyond their on-field performances.
A significant portion of the discussion centers on UK’s recent commitment to two top-10 recruits for the women's basketball team: Savvy Swords from Canada and Madden Greenway from Minnesota. The hosts analyze the potential impact of these commitments on UK’s athletics funding and program distribution.
[75:00] Co-host: "When you're bringing in two top 10 women's recruits from high school, you are putting money into women's basketball."
The conversation delves into the allocation of resources within the athletic department, questioning which sports may experience budget cuts to accommodate these high-profile additions.
[78:20] Matt Jones: "Every decision going forward...has to come from something else."
They also touch upon broader implications for other sports like volleyball and swimming, speculating on potential reductions in team sizes or funding to balance the increased investment in women's basketball.
Jeff, a listener, raises concerns about the eligibility of international players, specifically referencing the "Yellow Bitch" activation—a likely mascot or team initiative—and the challenges posed by visa delays for athletes.
[90:00] Jeff: "Any trepidation on Yellow Bitches activation over here? Eligibility? A little bit worried."
Matt addresses these concerns by acknowledging the broader national issues affecting international student-athletes and assures that Kentucky will strive to support their players through such challenges.
[92:15] Matt Jones: "If you're the coach at one of those sports that doesn't get money and you see what money they donated to the other programs, I mean, you gotta wonder."
This segment highlights the intricate balance between attracting top talent and managing logistical hurdles within collegiate sports programs.
As the episode nears its end, Matt and Drew tease upcoming segments, including Unpopular Opinion Day, scheduled for the following Wednesday. They invite listeners to share their contentious yet thoughtfully argued viewpoints, promising engaging and possibly provocative discussions.
[115:10] Matt Jones: "Do you all need to do your homework. I just made a note. You need to do your homework."
The episode concludes with a reminder of the KSR Golf Scramble and a brief recap of the day's discussions, fostering anticipation for future episodes.
