Yeah, I worked hard on my homework assignment. Kept me up pretty late last night. But it's not about my. My own opinions. I like hearing the crazy stuff that the callers bring in. I feel like I have a pretty good feel for all you guys, but the callers usually come in with some outrageous things.

[Matt Jones]

You had to be excited about what you saw last night.

So if. If you didn't watch it, first of all, you should have. Chase Burns comes out, strikes out the first five batters. Ryan, first batters or first pitcher since 1960 to strike out the first five batters of his. Of his major league career. How cool was that?

And I wanted to hear what, you know, like, the crowd's excited. He's debut. He gets the first strikeout, but then he gets the second one. And then he gets the third one. I mean, the crowd had.

[Matt Jones]

And the third one was Aaron Judge.

[Ryan Lemon]

Yeah, right.

[Matt Jones]

The third one was Aaron Judge. I think that's key to get Aaron Judge on the third one. It's wild. And then you have the game, then the fourth inning, you know, he gets roughed up a little bit. They. They score three runs. You think, well, this was a great story. But. But whatever. Then we come back in the seventh, Christian in Carcy Own Strand, who's basically been Christian and Carcin Strand, runners on base. Instead, he gets a triple on it with the bases loaded, ties the game, you go to extra innings, Reds fall behind. Then they come back, Ellie thinks the game's over. Like A John Wall, Mississippi State, DeMarcus Cousins thing. And then they still end up winning. And it was on a. It was, it was awesome. Like it was awesome. That's the best game two year, I think. Shannon, you saw the best game. What was it last year? Two years ago when they got the cycle.

[Shannon The Dude]

Yeah.

You were at that one.

[Shannon The Dude]

Ellie hit for the cycle. That's right.

Was that two years ago or last year?

[Shannon The Dude]

I think that was two years ago.

Two years ago. Probably the best game since that. Probably two years. The bid, the best game since that. And Ryan, it was, it was, it was just awesome. Summer of Ellie now is also the summer of Burns. It's great.

[Ryan Lemon]

Well, you know, the highly touted, you know, their top draft pick making his debut against the Yankees at home. And to start the way he did, man, I mean the, the, the. You can't be helped be excited about the guy if you're a Reds fan.

[Matt Jones]

Drew five strikeouts in a row. I mean, I thought he was going to strike. I thought he was going to get 27. I had it on DraftKings. Didn't quite happen.

[Drew Franklin]

I wasn't watching live, but I did pull it up. I was on the ESPN app and I just pulled up the box score through two innings and I saw he had six strikeouts and two innings. I didn't realize somebody got hit on him, but I just had a visual of him just striking out everyone on the Yankees for the whole game because at that point it seemed like he was on pace to do that.

[Ryan Lemon]

Well, is a Tennessee Volunteer does that?

[Matt Jones]

No, no, no, no, no. Transferred away Forest. Yeah, they benched him. This is how stupid the Tennessee Vols are. They benched him and he transferred to Wake Forest. So no, that he is not a Tennessee Vol. He is a Wake Forest Demon Deacon. So, so I'm excited, you know, probably 80%. Yeah, it was, it was for a Tuesday night. It was very. Because you know that that place holds 42,000 people. So awesome stuff. I, I'm in at least until the end of the weekend. And the Reds are back. Summer of Ellie. And it was exciting. It was also exciting. A lot of you are now texting in and like on the. On tweeting me like you. Everybody's getting into this. Shannon, are you feeling the excitement?

No, not for your Reds at all. I am feeling excited about the Braves because they keep beating the one cares five straight over the Met. Nobody cares about the Reds. What are you talking about?

[Matt Jones]

Oh, Summer belly Chase burns. Summer burns. It's. It's. All right. So now unpopular opinion day for the rest of the day. I just had to get that out of my system. Drew, I'll let you go first. What is your unpopular opinion?

[Drew Franklin]

My minor. More life. Things are not Kentucky specific. I can only tell you all so many times that I think Rupp arena ice cream is overrated. You know, the usual hits. So I brought three. I'll just use one. But it's more of a broad, everyday thing.

[Matt Jones]

Okay, go for it.

[Drew Franklin]

I do not think that you should be able to use ketchup over the age of 12 if you ask for ketchup. If you ask for ketchup in a restaurant, I think they should also bring you a coloring book and crayons, and you have to sit there like a child and put ketchup on your.

Not. Not even on French fries.

[Drew Franklin]

I give a little bit of. All right. Those two things are kind of go together. Or if you order, like if I go to McDonald's and get a double cheeseburger. I'm not customizing my order. It's McDonald's. They put ketchup on it. I'll eat it. But if you are in a restaurant and you reach for the ketchup bottle, I will maybe give you French fries, but anything else.

So you can't put it on a hamburger if it came out. No, no. You're gonna do all this. Ifs. Then you don't really believe.

[Drew Franklin]

Physically cannot use. You cannot actively put the ketchup on anything if it is served with it on there.

[Matt Jones]

Not a hot dog.

Nope.

You will let them do French fries?

Potentially. I might meet you there. But that's the only exception. Ketchup is for children. Grow up and eat a real condiment with flavor that is not just fake tomato, processed sugar. Grow up and get an aioli. Get a nice mustard and an aioli. Yeah, Use. Use some real condiments. Once you graduate fourth grade, we're gonna.

Have to ask the Che there in Shelbyville to add some aioli to the. To the. To the table menu. So there you go. Okay. All right.

I feel like I was speaking directly to Ryan Lemon as he looked at me embarrassed.

I had ketchup on my hash browns at Waffle House last night.

What percentage of food, Ryan, do you think you eat that either has ketchup.

All right, so mine is Kentucky related. It's Kentucky football. As much as we've talked about how terrible we think that the season's going to be, I'm going to go on record right now and say that I believe this team will get to six wins.

This year. I think it will happen. I think, you know, if you look at Mark Stoops and how he's performed when his back is against the wall, I think he's done as good as any coach that we've had in a long, long time.

First one I'm gonna go with is that I think TikTok is trash. I tried to get on it and everybody's. It's all geared to under 21, 25 year old people and other people just giving me their political opinions.

But you know, it doesn't have to be like that. Like there are, there are old. There's old people. TikTok. You just have to get the algorithm and like the stuff that's aimed at your age.

[Ryan Lemon]

Trash. TikTok.

How long did you spend on it?

[Ryan Lemon]

A Week. Okay, maybe.

[Matt Jones]

So is it plausible that the reason you were seeing things geared at 21 year olds is because you were watching the videos? Or maybe in other scenarios, you're watching things that normally 21 year olds watch?

[Ryan Lemon]

I don't know how. I didn't even favorite anything. I just. Everything. Hang on. There was somebody's opinion about some political thing or. 21 years old doing some stupid dance. I'm like, nope, I'm out. Trash.

[Shannon The Dude]

But you've got those stupid dances before, though.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah. I mean, you do those dances with Mari.

[Ryan Lemon]

Yeah, but I don't. I don't watch them on Tick Tock.

[Shannon The Dude]

Yeah.

[Matt Jones]

Okay. This reminds me of Shannon, of when people used to write me on the old KSR website and say, why are the ads on your site all porn? And I'd go, those are Google Ads. That says more about you than it does.

[Shannon The Dude]

You say to them, why are you watching porn?

[Matt Jones]

Yeah, because, I mean, the Google Ads, we don't pick what comes on there. It's just like what they got from your computer.

Yeah.

I wonder if he. Why he's getting political opinions and dance is because that's what he looks up on his computer.

Maybe so. All right, so mine is unpopular. Maybe not to the fan base as a whole, but Drew, maybe to my bosses and to people that we, you know, we work with. Okay.

I mean, the bosses, Shannon, the bosses have to agree with Unpopular Opinion Day too, right?

This is nobody in particular's fault. I don't blame any individual in particular, but my unpopular opinion is very simple. The pregame and post game shows for University of Kentucky athletics are the worst things on the airwaves and have to be fixed. They are insanely boring. They do not capture what it means to get excited for a game and to come down from a game, and we have to fix them. I'm not saying we have to change anybody that's on them, but we have to change how they're programmed. And I come to this from the Reds and from the Hurricanes, these two teams that I've gotten big on. I watched their pregame and post game and listened to their pregame and post game for every big game. Last night, I listened to the Reds radio post game, I listened to Lance McAllister. After that, I wanted it to go into the night. And when it comes to UK games, it's the opposite. There are too many ads, there are too many planned segments and there is too much non interaction with what makes the BBN great. That the shows to me are not good. The people on them, I think they could be good but you got to let them have personalities. And that's not just Buzz and Cameron screaming at each call and calling each other butt faced. Like there has to be a better time spent trying to program the pre and post game shows that are non KSR for our fan base. That is my unpopular opinion. Ryan.

Drew, I'm not going to argue because you know, we do our pregame show and kind of we feel like, I feel like we build up all this momentum and excitement and then it just.

[Matt Jones]

Come to a screeching halt sometimes. So.

And I'm not blaming the people, I like the people. But it's got to be better. Jmi. You have to produce shows people want to listen to.

Big win and it's just, it's 10 minutes of commercials and then it's like, well, Western Kentucky tonight beat Louisiana Tech 13. It's like no to give me some excitement. Give me outside of the stadium. Drew. I think it's, that's going to be unpopular to people in charge, but I think most of the fans would actually agree with me.

[Drew Franklin]

I think it's pretty popular to the fan base. I've heard that a lot. I agree with it. You have to realize the moment you're in and either ride that wave into the game or ride that wave out of the game. I remember specifically the show where cash put Ryan through a table and it felt like everyone around KS Bar was ready to run through a wall to go beat Georgia, whoever it was. And then that energy kind of got sucked out.

I think they should do away with bowl games all together. Unless they're in the college football playoffs. They've got boring. They're meaningless. People's entering the portal. People's opting out. And you. It's just you don't have the same team playing in that game as you would the team that's playing throughout the season.

All right. Appreciate it, Andy. I don't think that's a crazy point. I actually think a lot of people would agree with that. I like them because, honestly, Drew, I want to be able to go to some because I think we're not going to the playoff. But do you agree or disagree with him?

I'm going to disagree, but it's not. It's not that crazy to say that I enjoy them. It's more things to gamble on. It makes the bowl season entertaining. Even if some of the games have a lot of opt out. So I will slightly disagree.

They Got to figure out a way to stop the opt outs and probably the only way is to require them to get their final check after the game. Right. That's probably the only way you're going to be able to do it or give like a bonus for playing in it. So they get money. But in general, if you can do something about the opt outs, I'm fine with having the games.

I'm okay with Andy saying, you know, eliminate some of the bowl games. We've got way, just way too many. But yet if you're a school like, you know, Western Kentucky, man, it's a chance to play in a bowl game, reward your team after a good season. So I can see it both ways.

And that's true. We got used to it. But it is kind of amazing what he did.

And we're probably getting to a point pretty soon where people didn't watch him live. And like the guy on TikTok who are reacting to it, they're going to be like, what in the hell was this thing? Yeah, you're not supposed to be able to do this.

He played quarterback, wide receiver, running back. Like who plays all three? Nobody.

And Kentucky would line up and everyone, everyone knew they were running. Everyone knew they were running and he.

Part of it is you could have different people do it to bring energy. I'm not volunteering myself because I don't need more work, but. But you I like. I thought Ryan Rex Chapman was great at it. I know everybody gets mad at his political opinions, but I thought he was really good when he did those, you know? Do you remember those few years of doing it? Like, just tell him, look, Rex, man, you can't talk about politics. When I did those games, I didn't so, like just do that. I think Tom's great, I think Jack's great. You know, I think Dave is great, but. But like he and Cameron need to just bring it down a notch. Stop screaming at each other. They're both smart. Just talk football pregame. You got to get the atmosphere of the tailgate. Like there's no atmosphere of the tailgate. Like I don't, I barely know you're at the game. You know, at KS Bar, we have the atmosphere. KS Bar, you guys are at the actual games. You gotta like get that in there. And in the post game, the postgame show is a disaster because they don't do anything postgame except just like kill time until the coach talks. And a postgame show should not be kill time. Drew gets the atmosphere great. Right after games, he's outside with the fans, talking to him. Like his, his post game thing. What do you call it again, Drew?

In a perfect world, what you ought to do is just combine it with KSRS and have us take calls until the coach and players are ready. The Reds last night, those dudes are sitting out in the thing and so people are like, you got to get that excitement. And we just don't do that, Ryan, at all. So it just feels sterile as it can be.

Like just immediately. If it were me, if I'm jmi, I would just say, look, this calling thing, I mean, we got people staying up 2:30 in the morning to call and then you give an hour of. Well, Eastern was playing Morehead today in baseball and it was. I take that nobody wants to hear that. So that's. My people are still mad about the ketchup. I mean, I know, yeah, they're worked up. That's the most unpopular opinion you've Ever had, Ryan. There's. Shoot Me, Drew. There's no doubt. You didn't play that song, did you, Shannon? Because I didn't.

Hey. So I wanted to preface my remarks by saying that I love Mark Pope. And I think from the moment Pope was announced, I was fully for him. And I realized that Cal had his problems. I mean, the win loss record wasn't good, the tournament wasn't good, and his press conferences weren't good. But I think Cal was mistreated. And I think all through the fan base, but including the ksr, I just felt like he was a sitting duck. I don't think it would have mattered if he won the national championship. I think it was kind of unfair the way we treated.

Do you think. Now, that is a part. That's. That's a fair opinion for today. Do you think losing to Oakland and St. Peter's two of three years was acceptable?

Absolutely not.

So then what. How did we. Then how did we. But then how did we. Then how did people treat him wrong?

Well, I just think it was. It was a sitting. He was a sitting duck. I mean, he was kind of caught with his pants down. And I. I don't think it would have mattered what he did. I think if he'd won the national championship. These people were just so rabid. Anti cow.

It's not a big deal to us the other 364 days of the year, but the Derby Day is the only day we care about it.

Right. Because he's. What he just said is not controversial. If you go to the history of the song, it's not a good history. It's just not. If you go read what it is, it's not a good song, but it's also very beautiful. It's also a song that I think brings about an emotion in people, and the vast majority of people don't think about the lyrics the way it was intended, and they think about it a different way. A way that is sort of like Shannon Born in the USA has become a song that wasn't what it was when it was written. Right. Like, it means something different now than it did when it was written.

And I think people probably don't even know, and most people don't even know.

Why Bruce Springsteen wrote that song. So, like, I've. I've had people over the years challenge me on that. I generally say keep it because of the history. But I do understand. Ryan, the other opinion.

Yeah. So I get it. But there is Something about when they. When you get to that chorus again at the derby and it says weep no more, my lady, that I actually, I find really powerful. I do not think those were drew. We should sing it at UK games because I think it slows everything down. Maybe at the end, but sometimes when. You know, there were times I used to play it before I was against that. That was not. That's not the excitement level you need for a game.

What are your thoughts on how we play Doomis Walker after every game should be gone.
