Nmlsconsumeraccess.Org welcome back Kentucky Sports Radio 859-280-2287 Text Machine 772-774-5254 this segment sponsored by Shady Rays. If you're tired of buying expensive sunglasses only to lose or break them, Shady Rays independent American owned company started right here in Kentucky. Premium polarized shades for each activity. They offer the best protection program in the industry. Lost and broken replacements. I broke one couple weeks ago they replaced it. That's what they knew. At Shady Rays, one of the biggest sales of the year is going the 4th of July in Lexington and Louisville. And shadyrays.com if you've ever thought you needed new sunglasses, go to Shady Race. All right, so you looked up the Dave Parker thing. Was the story Ryan told correct or even a version of it correct?
Billy Rutledge
I'm going to say Ryan was correct here. This is from MLB.com the story goes, while in the minor leagues, Parker hit a home run in West Virginia that landed in a coal car on a passing train. The the ball was eventually picked up 150 miles away in Columbus, Ohio when the train stopped.
Matt Jones
There you go. Facts.
Ryan Lemond
All right, so we're going to so we're going to call that a true story by Ryan Lippman.
Billy Rutledge
Yes, I think we're all true.
Ryan Lemond
All right, Here we go. Ryan 1 for 750 on True Story on the board. He is exactly right. He is on the board.
Matt Jones
What?
Ryan Lemond
First writes Matt, I listened to your ESPN Sunday morning show yesterday and it has been fun to watch you basically turn that into KSR Every morning that has happened. Although yesterday, Ryan, and you'll know what this is like, they put me in the worst spot possible. So I mean, you know, nothing is going on in national sports right now.
Matt Jones
Nothing.
Ryan Lemond
Like what would you say? I mean no NFL, no NBA, no hockey.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
Baseball exists, but like what's the big storyline? For me it's the Reds. But like on national radio, what are you supposed to talk about? No golf, no tennis, NASCAR. Like, like literally nothing. So 20 minutes before the show they tell me, by the way, Myron's not going to be here today, Billy. He had told me that Myron hadn't told me. So you have David Dennis Jr. Now I like David Dennis Jr. A lot in terms of fill ins. He's probably my favorite. So I'm like, okay, that's fine. And they said, but Davis, David has a sports center hit from 10 to 10:30. So you have to do the first two segments by yourself. Now I, as you know, hate doing segments by myself. I hate doing like preachy radio here. Have a hot take on a topic. But Ryan, Billy, what is there even to have a take on, right? Like what is there to even talk about? There is nothing happening right now. Nothing. And with 20 minutes notice they say to me, go on national radio, do not one, but two segments completely by yourself with no prep. I don't get nervous very much, but I kind of start freaking out a little bit. I'm like, I don't have anything to talk about. You gave me no notice. And they're like, well, talk about Shohei. What are you supposed to say about Shohei? Like literally what would you say, right, if somebody told you do 12 minutes in a row on Shohei Ohtani, there's.
Matt Jones
No way I could fill 12. I can feel maybe one minute. That showed that show day Otani.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, well, well, he's good, man.
Matt Jones
He pitches and he hits home runs.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, Billy, man, he hits that ball.
Billy Rutledge
You got a stretch, Matt. Generational talent.
Ryan Lemond
Oh, he's, he throws the ball so fast and then sometimes, Billy, he hits the ball. So then I was like, I can't do that. There's nothing to say. And then they go, well, talk about the struggles of the Mets.
Billy Rutledge
Oh yeah, you know the details on that.
Matt Jones
Wow.
Ryan Lemond
The struggles of the Mets. I mean, can we collectively come up with the Mets roster?
Matt Jones
No, no.
Ryan Lemond
They have Lindor and Juan Sodo and then I think they have Keith Hernandez.
Matt Jones
I don't think he's there anymore.
Ryan Lemond
And Gary Carter. I mean I'm, I'm, I'm Out. So I sit there and look at it. I get off my headset and I'm like, all right, I got to talk about something. So I did, Billy, what all good radio hosts do. I learned this from Bob Valvano. I'll just read the news. No, yeah, I'll just read the news. Because the top seven headlines on ESPN were. Were the worst headlines you could think of. The number three story on espn, Billy, was that Nicholas Batum had opted out from the Clippers.
Billy Rutledge
Oh, man, that's going to. That's going to be tough on the roster.
Ryan Lemond
That was the number three story. So I just did a thing where I was like. I just did this intro where I'm like, sports stinks right now. I basically was like, sports are the worst right now. It's. If you don't believe me, I'm on ESPN.com page, and I'm going to tell you what the top eight stories in America are. And all I did was take the top eight stories and make fun of them about. This is what ESPN thinks are the biggest things happening in sports. And I don't really know if my producers liked it because, Billy, all I was doing was making fun of espn.
Billy Rutledge
I was going to say the bosses check in with espn. I don't think they love it.
Ryan Lemond
I think my producers weren't thrilled. But you know what? If they say something to me about it, I'm going to say, that's what you get when you tell me 20 minutes before the show that on the slowest sports weekend of the year, you have to just do two monologues about what happens. So that's what I did. And if you go hear it, I don't think it's particularly great. Matter of fact, I don't think it's one of the best, better things I've done. But I got through it. David got done with his Sports center here, and then we were able to go back to normal. But, Ryan, I will say that's one of the harder moments. Yesterday that I have had in broadcasting was on a weekend nothing is happening, where they just go, hey, man, talk about Shohei Ohtani and the Mets. Like, you know, might as well just kill me now.
Matt Jones
Well, as a listener, I'd rather hear you make fun of the topics than break down the Mets or Shohei Otani or this dude in the Clippers. I don't want to hear that. I'd rather you make fun of him.
Ryan Lemond
Who cares about. I mean, what are you going to say about Nicholas Batum?
Matt Jones
Wow.
Ryan Lemond
Nothing to say. And Then, oh, yeah, one of the people go, hey, Wimbledon starts. And I'm like, oh, that's great. Everybody loves to hear a good 12 minute monologue on Wimbledon.
Matt Jones
It's gonna be really hot over there.
Ryan Lemond
It's gonna be really hot. Those Brits are really hot. Anyway, what I would have talked about if it had been a local show is that Kentucky basketball went to Kings island this week.
Billy Rutledge
Yes.
Matt Jones
You should have thrown that in there.
Ryan Lemond
Anyway, I thought about putting it in there. What do you think of, like, the Brady Bunch? Kentucky basketball went to Kings Island. I had multiple Kentucky fans send me pictures, said the guys were all nice. They're doing team bonding trips. So two questions for you, Ryan. Number one, do you like that the team is going on bonding trips in the summer? Sanctioned bonding trips. And two, do you like Kings Island?
Matt Jones
I'm a yes on both of those. I love the fact that Pope does this thing with the whole team and then they go to Lake.
Ryan Lemond
Pope was not there. And I'll tell you why Pope wasn't there in a minute, but go ahead.
Matt Jones
But you know, they. The whole team went to Lake Cumberland and they're going up to Kings Island. I love it. Kind of do some stuff because they've been running their jocks off for the last couple of weeks in this training session. They've been going through, going back to, you know, the 96 training of Patino. So they need a little break. And to answer your question about Kings Island. I love Kings Island. I think it's great, man.
Ryan Lemond
I love.
Matt Jones
I'm a roller coaster guy.
Ryan Lemond
When's the last time you've been to Kings Island?
Matt Jones
I'd say I took the boys maybe four years ago. Maybe four or five years ago.
Ryan Lemond
Okay. So you go. You get on all the roller coasters. Oh, yeah, the Beast. What are the big roller coasters now? When I was a kid, it was the Vortex.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
And the Beast. The Beast was wooden, I think.
Matt Jones
Yes, it was wooden. Son of Beast is another wooden roller coaster. Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
Okay.
Matt Jones
Yeah, they've got some new ones. I can't think of the names of them.
Billy Rutledge
Well, when I went back in the day, there was Son of Beasts and the Beast. But I never left that place and wasn't in back pain, so I'd be worried about the Kentucky guys.
Ryan Lemond
So there's got to be new ones, though, right? There got to be new roller coaster. The vortex is 25 years old. Beast is older than that, I would think.
Billy Rutledge
Diamondback, Mystic Timbers, Orion, Invertego, Flight of Fear, Banshee. I remember Banshee.
Matt Jones
That's the one you're like.
Ryan Lemond
So are you saying to me, are the ones we mentioned not there anymore?
Billy Rutledge
Normal vertex is there. I don't see Son of Beast anymore.
Ryan Lemond
So Vortex is gone and I don't.
Billy Rutledge
Even see Vortex either.
Matt Jones
Do you remember they used to have the racer, the blue racer and the red racer?
Ryan Lemond
The racer. Yes, I remember the racer and then.
Matt Jones
They made him go backwards.
Ryan Lemond
So the only one left is Beast of my. Of the ones I remember.
Billy Rutledge
The beast is a 141 foot drop and you go 64 miles per hour.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. And it's wood.
Matt Jones
Awesome.
Ryan Lemond
Okay. And then they have the log flume. I always. That's. I didn't. That. What? Why are you laughing at the log flume?
Matt Jones
You gotta ride the log flume when you go to amusement parks. You have to.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. Cuz you get. Because people get wet and it's funny. You know, they shoot water.
Matt Jones
That anticipation of going down the blast slide and getting like the log flume.
Ryan Lemond
What's wrong with the log flume? Why are you mocking the log flume?
Matt Jones
I am on your side with the log.
Billy Rutledge
That's a good team bonding event. I mean those guys are gonna be.
Ryan Lemond
Pope was not there because he went to Switzerland to watch Jasper Johnson play for Team usa. He played for two games. He had a great highlight which I posted of a step back three that he got fouled on. Not as. Not a great performance while he was there. The kid that's going to Louisville has been the star of the team. So that's not fun. Mikel Brown, but otherwise, you know, he's on the team, has played, played some. Not like I said, not played the best. But are you going to watch? I think he has another game tomorrow. Are you going to watch Jasper Johnson at all in these games?
Matt Jones
I'd love to. And I think it's awesome that Pope went over there to watch him play. It's awesome that Jasper's got this opportunity. A kid from right here in our backyard, grew up here, parents played here, grandpa was on the staff. I mean it's just that's. That's a UK family. And to kind of embrace it by, you know, going overseas and watching him play, I think just speaks volumes what they think of him.
Ryan Lemond
And it's Team usa, right? I mean you get into that sort of pipeline of Team USA players and they'll play some big games. I mean that right now they're still in their, their pool play. But they'll end up, I mean they'll, they'll get a test and it's got, you know, got to be good for him to play against these dudes on a high level. He's playing with the dudes who will be the best freshman in the country this year. The guys on that team are. You look at the roster, they're essentially the best freshmen in the country, with the exception of a couple guys who opted out. So good experience for Jasper Johnson and I'm excited that he's getting to do it. And I thought it was very cool. I mean, that's. Your coach goes all the way to Switzerland. That's not like going down to Gatlinburg. I mean, he takes a flight to Switzerland to watch you play. I think that's got to make you feel good. Who's next, Bill?
Billy Rutledge
Chris.
Ryan Lemond
Chris. Go ahead, Chris. I was at the general lead jump and I'd say there was quite a few people there because they had John Snyder there. Oh, John. Wait a minute. I didn't know that John Schneider was. John Schneider was there? Yes. Huh? No, Wo. Pat, he was not there. But the other, the coy Duke, he was also there. Well, they brought coy Duke. I bet the line wasn't quite as long for meeting Koi through John's line. Okay, well, good. Well, I didn't realize John Schneider was there. How old is John Schneider now? Is he like in his. Seen his 70s?
Matt Jones
Gotta be 70s, doesn't he?
Ryan Lemond
I would think he's got to be.
Keith
Look.
Billy Rutledge
He'S 65.
Ryan Lemond
See? Oh, he's only 65. Okay. All right, go ahead, sir. All right. I appreciate the call. Your phone's not working, unfortunately, so we're not going to be able to. To make it work. So they really made this a whole Dukes of Hazzard theme getting. Does John Schneider. Did he sing or am I dreaming that.
Matt Jones
No, I think he became a singer. Yeah, you're right about that.
Billy Rutledge
Yeah. And he has been to hazard in the past. They have done a couple.
Ryan Lemond
Snyder has.
Billy Rutledge
Yeah, but not like they'll have.
Matt Jones
They would have a festival and a parade. And I think those guys, some of.
Ryan Lemond
Them come down a John Schneider song on week. Come back from break. I want to hear what his music sounds like. I have a vision of how bad it is, but I need to. To hear it to make clear who's next.
Billy Rutledge
Keith is next.
Ryan Lemond
Keith, go ahead. Keith.
Keith
Hey, Keith. The executive director of Summer Night Cruise.
Ryan Lemond
Oh, so you, you organized this?
Keith
Yes, Summer Nights Cruise Incorporated.
Ryan Lemond
Go ahead.
Keith
Yes, we're. We're a 501c3 non profit here in Somerset and we do seven shows a year car shows. And this was just one of our events. We're celebrating our 25 years of doing events and we thought this would be a cool way to do it.
Ryan Lemond
Well, I mean, clearly it was you. You had to be. You had to be thrilled with how much publicity this got. I mean, it went all over the world.
Keith
Yes. We're hearing from Australia and Europe. It's hitting news coverage there. So we're thrilled with it.
Ryan Lemond
Well, you definitely. You definitely should be. Now, can you tell me how much it costs to bring the general lead to jump a fountain?
Keith
It cost a lot. I don't know that I can divulge the contract information because the company that we contracted, the Northeast Ohio Dukes, actually gave us a little bit of a discount to help them because they wanted to do this event because it was so epic and historic. So I don't know that I'm can give you that, but it was substantial money. You can imagine the cost of building the car, transporting everything and doing everything. Then we had the insurance cost on top of that special liability insurance. So. But yeah, who is that.
Ryan Lemond
There, who was the photographer that almost got himself run over?
Keith
I don't know. It was part of the. Their crew who was doing some filming. And we will actually have a nice, slick, professional video of this event of the jump, probably available this week on our Facebook page and on our website. It's being produced, so. And there's a lot of great video out there from. From people. We're going to have a really nice slick one available so people can follow us on our Facebook page and see when we post that. But it's. It was a big day, probably 30,000 plus. Like I said, John Schneider was there. He actually did a concert the Friday night before at the Virginia theater where you guys were at.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. That's awesome. Well, I have to go to break. I'm sorry, but very cool. Congratulations on the successful event and if you ever do something like that again, let us know. Okay?
Keith
All right, we'll do it. Thanks, man. You guys have a good one.
Ryan Lemond
Thank you. Appreciate it. Wow, 30,000 people and John Schneider was Schneider. Who knew? We'll take a break. Very back. Sksr.

Ryan Lemond
Cancel CT mobile.com I don't hate this. I mean it. This sounds very much like 7 late 70s country which is right what your wheelhouse? Yeah, that's a little. I tend to be like early 70. It's. This isn't quite me but this is definitely a genre of country. Late 70s, early 80s like the Ronnie Millsap type of country. But it's not bad. Certainly better than the crap that's out now. So yeah, I'm good with that. John Schneider, 65 years old, started the Dukes of Hazzard rhyme when he was 18.
Matt Jones
Really?
Ryan Lemond
I thought they looked old show. How was Tom Mopat though? He definitely looked older than that at on there. I don't know one person writes Matt Saturday the basketball team also came came to the Cincinnati race. Ronald McDonald House, my three week old son is there. He was airlifted from UK with a rare immune system system disease. All the players were nice and they sent me a picture of all the players meeting with the kids. How nice is that?
Matt Jones
Dude, that just melts your heart, doesn't it when you hear that. Because the kids face, you know they light up. They're going through things we know child have to go through and then the UK basketball team goes and make them make their day. So well done.
Ryan Lemond
Son of the beast. According to multiple texters, Billy shut down because 10 years ago it stopped mid rod it went from 80 to zero and multiple people lost their teeth into the padding.
Matt Jones
Oh my goodness. Whoa.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Billy Rutledge
No wonder it was shut down.
Ryan Lemond
See that you get what it's the son of the beast. I've always told you, the sons of successful people do much worse than the people.
Matt Jones
Even roller coaster sons. Wow.
Ryan Lemond
Even. Even the kids of roller co. I never trust a rich person's kid. Like a person who's very successful, who takes over the family business, whether it is politics, whether it is business. Sports is a little different. Although it's rare to find a kid that was better if his dad was really good. Rare to find a kid that's better than his dad. Happens, but not very often. And now Billy, also true with roller coasters. Son of the beast, less successful than his father.
Billy Rutledge
Losing teeth into the padding. Oh, it's rough.
Ryan Lemond
Does not. Does not look good. 859280, 2287. Who's next?
Billy Rutledge
Tyler is.
Ryan Lemond
Tyler, Go ahead, Tyler.
Billy Rutledge
Tyler, go ahead.
Mario
Hey, sorry, I actually called in to talk about your. I actually called in to talk about your ESPN show, which I listened to yesterday. I actually thought you did a really good job.
Caller
As soon as you said you didn't.
Mario
Have topics and didn't have a co host, I knew where that was going. But I think you played it off well.
Ryan Lemond
Well, I mean, literally 20 minutes before they tell you, I want you to imagine 20 minutes before somebody tells you to go on national radio and just talk about nothing going on. But you know what? I'm glad you thought I got through it, because it felt when I had to sit there and talk about UFC and literally I had to ask the producer, Billy, how do I pronounce these two men's names that. That fought in the ring? Like, literally never heard of either one of them. I knew it was going to be a long day, but go ahead.
Mario
The one that I liked and wanted to talk about was the Chelsea coach complaining about the heat. I don't know when this kind of started, but I feel like it's been in the cultural zeitgeist recently about Europeans. Just absolute incapability to handle standard level of American heat. I mean, I was in London in 2023 and walking through a park, overheard a guy talking about how it's too hot to eat my man. It was 79 degrees. People moved to San Diego and pay millions of dollars for homes in that weather. And he acted like he was about to die of heat stroke on the Oregon Trail because it was moderately hot. And it's unbelievable.
Ryan Lemond
It is the way. And I'm glad you brought that up. I appreciate the call. I was at a soccer game. I was at a soccer game Saturday, Ryan, in Philadelphia.
Matt Jones
Yes.
Ryan Lemond
Okay. And it was two Brazilian teams. And it was painfully hot. Okay. I mean, it was. Even sitting in the crowd, it was really hot. I'll talk about what happened at the game at another point because it was a lot of fun. It was really hot. And the Brazilians were, like, fine with it. They're playing. The fans are dancing, all this. And then I saw this story about when Chelsea played later in the afternoon in Charlotte. And the coach was like, this is unfair that it is this hot. This is. This is not how human beings should have to deal. And it was 92 degrees. It was 92 degrees. Which granted, in Charlotte, 92 degrees is hot. But he was literally saying that the World cup should be moved from America next year. Cause it's too hot to play here. And I. I don't. Europeans do a lot of stuff well, but, like, acting like a little bit of heat is insufferable is crazy to me.
Matt Jones
That's what I think of that coach. Shut up, man. Go out and just beat somebody. He's probably wine because they got beat.
Ryan Lemond
Well, they won. No, they won. They did. We should. We. We shouldn't have to put our players in this. And I was with the Brazilian people. It was two Brazilian teams. They were fine.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
The Europeans can't seem to handle it. Cornbread hemp. If you've not, let's say you are, or. Excuse me, Court physical therapy. Not cornbread hip summer. Summer is here. Be right back. Kentucky Sports Radio. Welcome back, Techie Sports Radio. We have some breaking news here. Billy.
Billy Rutledge
I don't have the button yet.
Ryan Lemond
What do you mean you don't.
Matt Jones
Jumping up and down.
Ryan Lemond
What do you mean you don't have the button?
Billy Rutledge
Well, it's a studio I haven't been in before, so.
Ryan Lemond
So then you have to do it yourself with your. With your voice. No, I need a better version of that. Oh, you gotta get close to the microphone. One more time. There we go.
Matt Jones
There it is.
Ryan Lemond
See, by putting the pressure on him, he was able to find the button. EA Sports has announced they are bringing back the college basketball video game after 15 years without a. Without a college basketball video game. It will be back starting this fall. That's kind of Exciting, Ryan, for video game players out there. Been a long time since. Since there's been a college basketball video game.
Matt Jones
Of all the news stories and reports we've had since Mario started working, he literally jumping up and down high fiving himself when he saw the news.
Ryan Lemond
Oh, is he really? Is he happy about that?
Matt Jones
Come on over here, Mario. Here he comes. I mean, he is literally.
Ryan Lemond
Let's go, Mario. Does that make you. Why does that make you so happy?
Caller
Because it's finally back. I've been waiting for this day for so long.
Ryan Lemond
So long. Wow. Listen to the glee in his. Well, I mean, you were. You weren't even, like, you were just a little kid when that game existed, right?
Caller
So me and my brothers, we used to play it all the time. Like, that's what we. That was our hobby, was playing college basketball, video games. That's all we did. So I was happy when the football version came out, but now I'm ecstatic. Man, this made my day.
Ryan Lemond
Well, I love to see how happy he is. Well, all right. Well, Mario, so did you play. When you played the game, did you play with Kentucky, or were you playing no teams?
Caller
John Wall. I was John Wall. My brothers were unc with. With Tyler Hansbrough, and I think that was the last.
Ryan Lemond
Was the last game the John Wall year?
Billy Rutledge
It was 2010, so the 09.
Ryan Lemond
So, yeah, the last game was the John Wall year. So it has literally been 15 years. The last game was the John Wall year. So you'll be able to play with. With the team this year. Well, Mario, I'm glad you're excited.
Caller
Made my day, man. Today's. What's today's date? The 30th.
Ryan Lemond
Today. The 30th. June 30th. Goes in the history books for Mario. I appreciate it. Wow.
Billy Rutledge
It is big news. Like, the old one had Blake Griffin on it. And I mean, you've probably been playing it for 15 years now since it was the last one.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, I guess it was the John Wall. Demarcus Cousins is the last one. And, you know, they did with the college football. You're probably going to be able to get the old teams as well. And so that'll be like, we, you know, people can play with the 2015 Kentucky team or all those guys. So, Ryan, that it is exciting. I can see why people would be really, really happy about it.
Matt Jones
I can't even emphasize how excited Mario was when he saw that. I mean, he literally was jumping up and down when he saw the news that it was going to be released.
Ryan Lemond
I Wanted to tell you so this past week, and I'm sure you don't have this, Ryan. Billy, you might have it. Billy, do you have LinkedIn?
Billy Rutledge
I do.
Ryan Lemond
See, I don't. Well, I didn't, but I got it this week for the first time. You're on it, right?
Billy Rutledge
Yeah, but I haven't been on it since college. I mean, I was just looking for a job, sending out my resume, but.
Ryan Lemond
In theory I could add you.
Billy Rutledge
Yeah, I'm on. Yeah, as.
Ryan Lemond
As a. There you are. You are a second level connection for me. There you are. Now, I just added you. If you add me back. But Ryan, you don't have LinkedIn, right?
Matt Jones
I think I do. I think with my new position with Executive train, I've got LinkedIn. I just literally got it.
Ryan Lemond
Do you know if you have it or not?
Matt Jones
I think. I think I do.
Ryan Lemond
But how can you think like you either have, because I never.
Matt Jones
I never get on it, but I think I was. I signed up.
Ryan Lemond
I'll look and see if Ryan has it.
Matt Jones
All right.
Ryan Lemond
You don't seem to have it. Oh, no, there you are. You don't have a picture.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I haven't even.
Ryan Lemond
You don't have a picture? You don't have any friends on?
Matt Jones
No, I.
Ryan Lemond
So what do you use? It's completely blank.
Matt Jones
I don't. I don't use it at all. It was just one of those things that needed.
Ryan Lemond
So why do you have it?
Matt Jones
I think for maybe, future possibilities. Maybe.
Ryan Lemond
But right now it looks like the saddest thing I've ever seen.
Matt Jones
There you go. That's my life.
Ryan Lemond
I mean, it just says, Ryan Lemon, business development and executrain and then nothing else.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I think that's it.
Ryan Lemond
According to you. He has, Billy, no experience and no education.
Billy Rutledge
That's. That's. It's gonna hurt. You get a job, Ryan. That's what you need.
Ryan Lemond
I think it'd be better off not to have it than to have that as your profile. Well, I never had it because I, since it existed, have never needed to apply for a job. But I don't know why. It was like, I kept having friends of mine say, I'll write you on LinkedIn, and then I have to say, I wasn't there. So I got it. And Billy, I have to say, it's been kind of wild because basically it has allowed me to go see what everyone I went to law school with is now doing okay. Because I really haven't kept in touch with almost anyone I went to law school with. There's Been. There's a handful of people that I have. There's a couple that people I see. But in general, that's like a phase of my life where I just moved on. And, like, they all live all across the country. It's so. You know, if you go to UK Law School, most the lawyers that go there live in Kentucky. But Billy at Duke, some live in New York, some live in dc, some live in la. You know, I don't. I just. I never see any of these people. So I get on LinkedIn and I start adding my classmates. And of course, they're connected to my other classmates. And it is fascinating, Billy, to see what all of these people I went to school with are doing versus what I'm doing, right? So I went. I was on the Duke Law Journal. So I went to the masthead of my Duke Law Journal. That's like. So the 25 people I was on it with, and I added all of them. And Billy, these people are part of partners at law firms. One of them is senior counsel for the Fed, right? You know, that sets interest rates and all that stuff. One of them is a lead counsel for the Senate Republican leadership. One of them was a lead counsel for Joe Biden's administration. They live like. One of them is like the CEO of the Milwaukee Brewers. Okay?
Matt Jones
My goodness.
Ryan Lemond
And then me, it says the way you're. The way your experience works is the last thing you put in is at the top. So if you go to my page, the top thing is owner OVW Wrestling, which makes me think all these people I went to school with, as we get connected, when they look at my thing, they're going to be going host the sports radio show, runs a wrestling company, has a restaurant. It's just, Billy, a completely different life than everyone else I went to school with. And it sort of hit me as I was on LinkedIn, like, they're all in ties and, like, headshots, and I'm sitting with a hoodie on with my arm around Ryan. That was my picture. It's just a completely different existence than everybody I went to school.
Billy Rutledge
Well, you're changing the world in a different way, Matt. You're talking about the General Lee. And.
Ryan Lemond
No, no, I wouldn't. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want to do what they do, right? But I just wonder, you know, when my 25th reunion comes in, like, three years, most people go back for that. That's the one you go back for is like the 25th. I do wonder, Ryan, what the conversations with These people will be, like, this many years later because, you know, they're.
Matt Jones
Probably messaging each other, hey, remember Matt, that guy that was second in our class? You see what he's doing now? He's a wrestler. He owns a wrestler.
Ryan Lemond
They don't bring me back, by the way, Ryan, for any alumni like, you know, speak to the school, well, they never say, let's bring the guy who hosts the sports radio show back is what you can do with the Duke law.
Matt Jones
Here's a picture of him. He's got on a hoodie and shorts and a baseball hat. He'd be perfect to speak to our youth.
Billy Rutledge
I'm sure they still ask for money.
Ryan Lemond
He'll be. They do ask for money. They do ask for money all of the time. The other thing is, Billy and Ryan, I know you've dealt with this. I see some of the headshots, and I'm like, I can't be that old.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Billy Rutledge
Oh, their headshots.
Ryan Lemond
Okay, Their headshots. I sit there and look because, you know, I haven't seen these people in 22 years. So all of a sudden you just, like, I haven't watched them age. They just are old now. And you sit there and you go, oh, I can't look like that, do I?
Matt Jones
Not with your cowboy hat on.
Ryan Lemond
Don't. I don't look. I don't look like that. I'm not that old.
Billy Rutledge
A little reality check on LinkedIn.
Ryan Lemond
You got to be careful with LinkedIn. It'll. It'll make you go, whoa. Time has passed since the. Since that stage of my life. Who's next?
Billy Rutledge
Let's go to Zach.
Ryan Lemond
Zach. Go ahead, Zach.
Caller
Hey, I just want to talk about your skill as a solo radio host. Your rants, which typically happen only when you're solo, like at the beginning of post game show stuff like that. That's one of your best skills as a host. Do you ever listen to Mad Dog Russo in the afternoons?
Ryan Lemond
I have, yes. But I. But see, the thing about, like, the post game show, that is a topic that not only do I know I'm passionate about, I've just watched the game. I'm passionate about what's happened. And especially, like, at the end of the Cal era or when we've won a big game, like when we beat Duke. I do think I do a good job with that because I'm speaking about something I care about extemporaneously. Here's a little secret. I don't care about the vast majority of sports that I have to talk about on espn I. I really, between me and you, I don't really care about any of them. So, like, it makes it a little harder. Whereas with Kentucky and KSR postgame shows, I do care about what I'm talking about.
Caller
Totally get that. I just think, man, if you flip that switch and turn that rant on when you need it, obviously you're not going to need it all the time, but when you need it, I think you can be absolutely elite at it. And what's one quick thing I'll leave you with, that Mad Dog always does is, you know, he obviously doesn't care about any of these topics either. But when he doesn't really, you know, know where to go, he just goes into talking about the leagues and that drives calls every single time. People have takes and it's a good conversation that you would be.
Ryan Lemond
I just can't. I feel like those guys and I appreciate the call, not him in particular, but I just feel like those dudes that give those long rants about things that they know nothing about, like, you remember when Mike Francesa, we played that thing, Ryan, where he was talking about the NCAA tournament and he clearly didn't know anything about it.
Matt Jones
They were up, they were down, they had some good games, they had some bad.
Ryan Lemond
I couldn't do that. I just can't do that because I'm like, I know I'm full of it. If I know I'm full of it, then the listeners have to know I'm full of it. And I just can't do it. I much prefer to have a conversation, joke around. But you're right on UK stuff. I can do it because I do care about it. And sometimes if there's a topic, an issue or something I can care about. But when they, when. When it's whether Nicholas Batum is going to resign with the Clippers, who in the world cares?
Matt Jones
So in your first two minutes, did you bring in the Somerset daredevil jump?
Ryan Lemond
No, I just made fun of all the topics.
Billy Rutledge
Read the news, right?
Ryan Lemond
To what, Bell buff? I didn't literally read the paper. I just read the headline and then basically made fun of it and then that was it. All right, go ahead. Well, tell me about Stockton Mortgage.
Matt Jones
Good news from Stockton Mortgage.
Ryan Lemond
Matt.
Matt Jones
Stockton Mortgage can help you explore how to put your idle equity to work. There's a lot of ways you can do it. That can mean you can access cash that you could use to, you know, finally knock out that renovation project, consolidate debt, just breathe a little easier in life. So, because, let's be honest, Unused equity is kind of like that treadmill in the corner that's covered in laundry where you hang your laundry on it and you, like, hang blankets on it and dirty clothes. No, we don't want that. We want you to get that treadmill out and get on it. So get potential and get. Let's get that fixed. Get started today. It's Stockton.com. see what's possible. Stockton Mortgage, NMLS 8259 equal housing lender.
Ryan Lemond
What are you talking. What treadmill? Hanging a towel. What. What are you talking about?
Matt Jones
I was trying to say, you know, like your. Your unused equity.
Ryan Lemond
Were you trying to ad lib that? Yeah, that would. Billy, tell him not to.
Billy Rutledge
It didn't sound like copy.
Ryan Lemond
No, that didn't sound like. I just sounded like you were just. What was the point? You treadmill with a T shirt. What are you talking about?
Matt Jones
Yeah, you know, your unused equity is like that treadmill in the corner of your. Your. Your room. You never use it anymore, so why not try?
Ryan Lemond
UN Is like a treadmill in your room?
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
What does that mean?
Matt Jones
It's there, but you don't use it. It could be very beneficial to you, but you don't touch it. You kind of forget about it. Cover it up with laundry, a blanket, dirty clothes.
Ryan Lemond
Okay, but see, okay, I get what you. When it was the laundry that was throwing me off, Billy. Because I didn't know what that meant. You're just saying your unused equity is like a treadmill that you should be using, but you're not.
Matt Jones
And here's the crazy thing. That is the script that I have to read after the show today. I was kind of trying it out to see how it worked out.
Ryan Lemond
That's.
Matt Jones
That's the script, Billy.
Ryan Lemond
I think we send that one back, don't you?
Billy Rutledge
We'll get a rewrite there.
Ryan Lemond
Send that one back.
Matt Jones
Exactly. The scripts.
Ryan Lemond
Send the laundry and the treadmill back to Stockton Mortgage. I think we could get something else. I think now just say it's a good time to buy. Stockton.
Matt Jones
Always a good time to buy.

You should put a more professional picture for your law school friends. Nah, I mean, that's, you know, who you are. That's who I am. I mean, it's not like I'm intimidated by him. Honestly, Billy, between me and you, I'm as smart or smarter than they are. I'm not worried about that. I'm not trying to impress them. It's just like my life could have gone that way. You know what I mean?
Billy Rutledge
Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
Like I could have been the one. And I don't think it would be better Matter of fact, I think it would be worse. But if it wasn't for randomly starting a sports blog that took off, I'm probably, like, working at the Fed or something really boring and wearing a tie every day and maybe Billy looking really old.
Billy Rutledge
Well, we would have got more claw commercials, maybe. I mean, there could have been a lot of good content.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. No, I mean, if I hadn't started KSR, I probably would have gone back to D.C. and worked. I started KSR when I was clerking in Kentucky, and my plan was to clerk in Kentucky and then go back to Washington, D.C. but I started KSR and it was starting to get some legs, and I was like, well, I just want to see where this goes, you know, see what happens with this. And I've told this story before, but, like, sometimes the best things that happen to you in life are unexpected. I was interviewed to be an Assistant U.S. attorney, Lexington, and I really wanted the job, and I thought I was gonna get it. And it came down to me and one other person, and the judge picked the other person and later apologized to me about it. And I'm like, thank you. Because if you hadn't done that, I would have probably taken that job, Ryan. They would have made me quit the blog. Because you can't be a U.S. attorney and blog. And I'd probably be a U.S. attorney now. And so, like, you never know. Like, sometimes things that at the time or you're really sad about can end up being the best thing that happened to you.
Matt Jones
God bless the broken road, Matthew. There you go.
Ryan Lemond
That's exactly right. That's right. Or the unanswered prayers. Garth Brooks, right?
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
Okay, who's next?
Billy Rutledge
Brian.
Ryan Lemond
Brian, I got, like, a minute.
Caller
Hey, this is disc golfer Ryan. You were talking about the. Nothing really going on with pro sports right now. But we, Matt, are in the heart of the disc golf professional season.
Ryan Lemond
Oh, gosh. Yeah. I still stand by my statement. I mean, what am I. What are you supposed to say about disc golf? You throw it and it goes in a basket.
Caller
There's a lot going on coming up in August, actually, one of the pro tour stops is in Kentucky. It's up in Florence. It's the Idle Wild course up there.
Ryan Lemond
Okay. And. Well, that's good. It's one of the bigger. I would love to. I appreciate the call. I wish the Florence golf the best. Not exactly going to be the hottest sports radio topic, but if it's in Kentucky, I rooted on. Now, for the rest of the week. Tomorrow, I will not be here. I have to be traveling. I will be back on Wednesday. Where is the show on Wednesday, Ryan?
Matt Jones
That we're in Versailles. It's at a standard bred horse farm in Versailles.
Ryan Lemond
Bramble park is the name.
Matt Jones
That's it.
Ryan Lemond
Inversales. If you're in the Versailles area or Lexington, come to see it. It's a brand new place. We will be there on Wednesday but tomorrow I won't be here. Ryan's going to have a number of people in studio with you. You got like Ryan, like three or four people, right?
Matt Jones
We're, we're still efforting some of them. Yeah, we're working on that.
Ryan Lemond
So Billy, we'll see if he has three or four people but I will be back on Wednesday. Thank you to everybody for listening. If you get a chance, check out the Matt Jones show episodes from last week. We'll have another one this week. This has been Kentucky Sports Radio. Go Cats.

Release Date: June 30, 2025

The episode kicks off with Ryan Lemond addressing a listener’s query about the accuracy of a story involving Dave Parker. Billy Rutledge confirms the legitimacy of Ryan’s account, citing MLB.com as the source:
“I'm going to say Ryan was correct here. This is from MLB.com the story goes, while in the minor leagues, Parker hit a home run in West Virginia that landed in a coal car on a passing train. The ball was eventually picked up 150 miles away in Columbus, Ohio when the train stopped.”
— Billy Rutledge [01:43]
Matt Jones swiftly corroborates the facts, leading Ryan to confidently mark the story as true:
“Ryan 1 for 750 on True Story on the board. He is exactly right. He is on the board.”
— Ryan Lemond [02:05]
Timestamp: 02:17 – 07:33
Ryan Lemond shares his recent challenges hosting solo segments on national radio during an unusually slow weekend for sports news. With no major NFL, NBA, or hockey events, Ryan was tasked with filling time on short notice:
“With 20 minutes notice they say to me, go on national radio, do not one, but two segments completely by yourself with no prep... I'm like, I don't have anything to talk about.”
— Ryan Lemond [02:17]
He recounts his attempts to discuss popular figures like Shohei Ohtani and the Mets’ struggles but finds the topics lacking substance:
“If somebody told you do 12 minutes in a row on Shohei Ohtani, there's...”
— Ryan Lemond [04:42]
Billy Rutledge echoes Ryan’s sentiment, sympathizing with the difficulty of engaging content:
“I think my producers weren't thrilled. But... it's one of the harder moments.”
— Ryan Lemond [06:05]
Ultimately, Ryan resorts to humorously mocking underwhelming ESPN headlines, though he admits it didn’t resonate well with producers:
“I just did this intro where I'm like, sports stinks right now... making fun of ESPN.”
— Ryan Lemond [06:42]
Timestamp: 07:33 – 12:17
Shifting focus, the hosts delve into the Kentucky basketball team’s recent team-building trip to Kings Island amusement park. Matt Jones highlights the importance of such trips for team cohesion:
“We've been running their jocks off for the last couple of weeks in this training session. They need a little break.”
— Matt Jones [08:38]
The conversation turns to favorite roller coasters, with a nostalgic look back at classic rides like the Vortex and Beast:
“The Beast is a 141 foot drop and you go 64 miles per hour... it's wooden.”
— Ryan Lemond [10:24]
Billy Rutledge adds historical context, mentioning now-defunct rides and current attractions:
“Diamondback, Mystic Timbers, Orion, Invertego, Flight of Fear, Banshee...”
— Billy Rutledge [09:52]
They also discuss the absence of team member Pope on the trip, explaining his commitment to supporting Jasper Johnson’s participation in Team USA in Switzerland:
“Pope was not there because he went to Switzerland to watch Jasper Johnson play for Team USA.”

Ryan lauds the event's success, noting its wide-reaching publicity and the impressive turnout of over 30,000 attendees:
“We're hearing from Australia and Europe... 30,000 plus.”

— Ryan Lemond [24:30]
A caller, Mario, shares his enthusiasm, reminiscing about playing the game with his brothers and eagerly anticipating its return:
“That's what we did all the time... made my day.”
— Mario [25:23]
Ryan highlights the significance of this comeback, recognizing the nostalgic value for long-time fans:
“It's exciting... John Wall was the last one. So it'll be like, we can play with the 2015 Kentucky team...”

Billy adds humor, noting Mario’s exuberant reaction:
“I can't even emphasize how excited Mario was... literally was jumping up and down.”

— Zach [33:37]
Ryan reflects on his own limitations in engaging with certain sports topics, expressing a preference for discussing areas he is passionate about, such as Kentucky sports:
