Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.
Drew Franklin
Welcome back. Hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio. 859-280-2287. Text machine 772-774-5254. One person writes, Matt, I'm very excited to watch, to watch Ryan try to do the video the donuts. Will there be a video? Yeah, we'll live stream it. Mario will live stream it so that people can watch it during the show. Be at his house. Looking forward to being at your house for the pool party.
Ryan Lemon
Yes.
Drew Franklin
You know, he got the weekend so you can recover.
Ryan Lemon
I may need the rest of the show to recover.
Drew Franklin
I think. Why listening to you be like not feel well. Shannon, that's part of the entertainment.
Matt Jones
Oh yeah, yeah. We'll bring you some Pepto Bismol to the listeners.
Drew Franklin
Before I get something else, I need something from you all. Okay. Because someone out there, maybe multiple someones can do what I'm about to ask. Okay. Of course we are doing our renovation of KS Bar.
Ryan Lemon
Right.
Drew Franklin
We are like sort of redoing the menu. Some things will be the same but we're putting new stuff on it. We've been, we went, we've been working, as they would say in the lab for that stuff. It's been, it's been good. We're, we're like redoing the floors inside. We're adding some new stuff. It's been good. One of the things we're doing is if you think about the porch of the bar, we've ripped out all the stuff in front of it. So now you can see straight in from the road. Right. Because it used to be blocked by TV and stuff, you really couldn't see into the restaurant. And considering we're kind of tucked away from Harrodsburg Road, it made it to where if you didn't know it was there, you wouldn't know it was there. Nope. So we're putting a sign in front of it and we've, we've taken all that out. So. So there's a few things we're doing, but one of the things, all we're leaving in the front are these pillars.
Ryan Lemon
Right.
Drew Franklin
So they're like those pillars. And here's what we need. We want to paint on the front of the pillars, UK players from the past. All right, so we want to paint like Anthony Davis, John Wall. There's, I think there's three or four of them. We'll figure out what we want to paint, but we need somebody to do it. Okay. We need somebody who is a good painter, but not just like a painter on a canvas. Like you could paint on a pillar. Does that make sense? Am I describing that correctly? You could paint on a pillar a portrait of someone.
Shannon The Dude
And if it's bad, we're going to tell you it's bad.
Drew Franklin
Well, I need it to be good. Okay. We need it to be good because this is going to be the front of the restaurant.
Ryan Lemon
Right.
Drew Franklin
So if you can do that or you know someone who can do it, don't say you can do it and you can't do it because we get one shot at it. Right. Email me at Matt Jones, Kentucky Sports Radio and show me what you've done.
Ryan Lemon
Little sample of your work because I.
Drew Franklin
Would like it to be KSR people who help us with it.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
And there's going to be a couple other jobs like that where I'm probably going to be asking, hey, who in the audience can do this with us? Because we want, you know, we have a budget on this. We need to keep it under it. But we also, I mean, you know, we'll, we'll pay you for your work, but we just want to see if we want to try to make it to where it's a cool in front. So if you know somebody who could do that, let me know. A couple other things coming on the one. You know, one of the things we did was like, we re evaluated. Okay, what about some of the food? What. What works and what doesn't? We basically were thought food's consistency needed to Be a little better. When it was really good, it was really good. But then sometimes it wouldn't. And so we talked about, all right, what are the things that we can make consistent? What are the things that maybe we haven't made consistent? Our wings are really good, but I've kind of thought our sauces weren't consistently good, so we're going to redo them. But in order to do that, we need to test them. So we're going to, at the end of July, have a thing where our listeners will come and it'd be taste tests of the new wing sauce.
Ryan Lemon
Right.
Drew Franklin
So we'll. It'll be like a ticket event. We'll probably only have like 50 people come and we'll put them on sale and they'll probably go quick. But you all can help us figure out. We're almost making it to where Drew the listeners help tell us what's good. We, we, we want to, like, normally people do these, like, you know, soft openings. And it's really only a few people deciding. I thought, why not open it up to people so that they can help us figure out what we should have. So you'll get like a card and you can grade the sauces, basically.
Shannon The Dude
So people that are probably eating there, why not ask them? As much as we trust Ron Lemons taste buds, we're going to, we're going to step out and outsource some of.
Drew Franklin
The help here because we had some. We had some sauces that weren't very good. So like our KS bar sauce I thought was pretty good, but I don't think we ever had a really good buffalo sauce. I don't think we ever really had a really good hot. Hot sauce. So we're like starting over from scratch.
Shannon The Dude
On those and adding some rubs. Some dry rubs, because I like dry rubs.
Drew Franklin
So we've never had dry rubs. We're getting dry rubs. Mario was in charge of the lemon. Was it lemon, pepper, garlic?
Shannon The Dude
Yeah. The Lou Wills.
Drew Franklin
The Lou. Yes. He's picking those because he likes those. And so he's been. So anyway, point being, be looking for that stuff. But the first thing I need is if you could paint, let's say John Wall Anthony Davis. And then we got figure out who are the other two we should have on there because we get. We got four spots. Davis. There could be two. You want to do a photo?
Shannon The Dude
Jared?
Drew Franklin
Jared. Yes, Great idea. John Wall. Anthony Davis. Jared. And whoa.
Shannon The Dude
The Mount Rushmore.
Drew Franklin
I mean, I wouldn't mind having. Who would be your. Who would be the fourth for not Just in the Mount Rushmore. This is the KSR Mount Rushmore.
Ryan Lemon
I guess we could. Right now we can just do Pope.
Drew Franklin
Could do Pope. Yeah, that's right.
Ryan Lemon
He played, won a championship. Now he's our coach.
Shannon The Dude
Coaches change, though. What if there's a scandal?
Drew Franklin
Yeah, what if he leaves it there?
Shannon The Dude
It's already done and can't be changed.
Matt Jones
You could just do the four of us on there.
Drew Franklin
No, we're going to do the players. Max Duffy.
Shannon The Dude
Hey, I like it about only the players we know.
Drew Franklin
Woo.
Shannon The Dude
Max, Duff.
Drew Franklin
And. Yeah, Freddy's got to be up there and Freddie. So anyway, if, you know, if you could do it or you know somebody who can, Matt Dot Jones at Kentucky Sports Radio and be watching over the next few weeks, we're going to have a lot of these little things that you guys can be involved in. And we're also going to have a day where we, like, clean the place. Yeah, insanely well. And it'll be kind of open if people want to come help us. And we'll feed you and we'll all like, we're making this a community effort.
Shannon The Dude
Last cleaning day, I ended up in the emergency room. So what's our health insurance situation this time around? I lost a lot of blood.
Drew Franklin
Last cleaning day you were up on a ladder. Also, we're putting. I don't know if you all know this. We're putting the. You guys, this includes you, Shannon, up on painting the roof.
Shannon The Dude
I'll paint the roof.
Ryan Lemon
We're gonna.
Drew Franklin
Can I paint Woo on the roof? If you. If when you walk at the front, the roof is like green. We were like, why is the roof green? Why don't we make it blue and white? Yeah, right.
Ryan Lemon
Makes sense.
Drew Franklin
So rather than it being green, we're going to put you, Ryan Lemon, and everyone on the roof painting it blue and white.
Shannon The Dude
The roof is what got me hurt last year. So that's why, you know, this is.
Ryan Lemon
The roof outside in the sun in July and August.
Drew Franklin
In August. Oh, that'd be great. We'll paint at night in the middle.
Ryan Lemon
Of the day on a hot tar roof. I think it'd be great.
Drew Franklin
It's not tar. It's not tar. It's the. It's the aunt. Is it on?
Shannon The Dude
Wait, aren't there conspiracy theories about painting your roof blue? Or have you not made it that far into the Internet now?
Drew Franklin
What are the conspiracy theories?
Shannon The Dude
Like when there's been disasters, like, houses with blue roofs have survived? I think when maybe.
Drew Franklin
Oh, well, that's why we're doing it.
Shannon The Dude
We're protecting KSBAR from the lasers.
Drew Franklin
From lasers. There you go.
Shannon The Dude
Great idea.
Drew Franklin
Is that really. Yeah.
Shannon The Dude
Look up blue roofs on the Internet.
Drew Franklin
Is that a conspiracy?
Matt Jones
That's one that's new to me.
Shannon The Dude
Blue roofs. I go to some weird places on the Internet.
Drew Franklin
The blue roofs, they will not blow.
Shannon The Dude
Up something they don't burn. I don't believe it. I'm just telling you this conspiracy.
Drew Franklin
The point is, Ryan, you're going to be on the roof.
Ryan Lemon
Yes.
Drew Franklin
The awning facing the road. So not the top. Top of the roof.
Ryan Lemon
Right.
Drew Franklin
But that awning. Okay. And it's green and kind of faded and not very nice. We're going to paint it blue and.
Ryan Lemon
White so it's like, you know, the first thing you see when you walk in. You want me in charge of painting that?
Drew Franklin
Well, it's not just gonna be you. It's gonna be all of us.
Ryan Lemon
Okay.
Drew Franklin
We're all gonna go up there, we're gonna do it. Mario's gonna film it. It's gonna be a whole thing. Are you excited?
Ryan Lemon
I'm very excited.
Drew Franklin
Okay. So anyway, but the painting thing, we need, like, that's what I. That's what we need. Right.
Ryan Lemon
You're gonna see that, too when you walk in. It's kind of a big focal point area.
Drew Franklin
No, no. You'll be able to say, I did that.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah.
Shannon The Dude
I'd write your little name at the bottom.
Drew Franklin
Oh, you certainly can write your name at the bottom. But you're gonna have. I think you're gonna have to, like, pa. Sitting there on the. Like, you can't take it home with you. You know what I mean? You're gonna have to paint it sitting there.
Shannon The Dude
Can't take our pillars home.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. You're not gonna take our pillow. There's. They're there, so. Michael, go ahead. Michael. Michael.
Caller Mike
Hey, Matt. Does Ryan have to hold down these donuts?
Drew Franklin
No. I mean, if he intentionally throws him up, he's out. But if it happens. Yeah, yeah, if it happens. I'm not going to punish him for being sick.
Caller Mike
All right, well, Ryan, you need to Google Bob Does Sports, the YouTube golf channel. Bob Fat Perez and Joey Cold Cuts. They do a dozen of each in nine holes. Let's just say two out of three of them are. Are vomiting these donuts by the fourth and fifth hole. Brian, I. Ryan, I like you. You know me. This is Mike the Mouth out on the party deck.
Ryan Lemon
Oh, yeah.
Caller Mike
I. I don't know, man. Especially you better be doing this in the air conditioning, too, because.
Drew Franklin
Oh, it's gonna be outside. It's gonna be hot outside.
Caller Mike
Oh, Matt, he's not going to do it.
Drew Franklin
Well, we'll find out.
Caller Mike
Trust me. Watch, watch, watch the, the 36 hole. 36 donut challenge in nine holes.
Shannon The Dude
They're golfing.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, they're golfing stuff. I, I, I appreciate the call, Mike. He's just gonna be sitting. This is go. All his mental focus. He's not gonna have to play golf.
Shannon The Dude
No motion sickness of the cart.
Drew Franklin
All mental focus.
Matt Jones
He throws up, that's an automatic disqualification. Come on. Can't throw up during the contest. That's a dq.
Shannon The Dude
Maybe it does make you more room.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
Well, we'll see. I'll have to think about. I'll have to go to my.
Shannon The Dude
He has to eat the mess.
Matt Jones
After the 10. I think it's okay. But you can't do it during.
Drew Franklin
Okay, I'll accept that as a rule. Matt. Go ahead, Matt.
Caller Mike
Hey, guys.
Drew Franklin
What's up?
Caller Mike
Thank you. Well, sitting out in my garden, meditating on this beautiful day. Out in the day shine after a long shift at the strip club because I changed my name to the Big Beautiful. Bill.
Drew Franklin
I'm glad you enjoyed podcast. I'm glad you enjoyed.
Caller Mike
That was a great episode. That really was a great episode.
Drew Franklin
Well, thank you very much.
Caller Mike
You're getting better and better. Yes, yes. But I was wanting to tell you, I don't know if anybody said anything. I know. Last week. I know this is a week old, but over the whole Somerset Duke's a Hazard thing, if. Why hasn't Hazard, you know, connected the dots? Well, they used to. I, I grew up in Hazard. My dad was a. I hate to say this after I said I was a stripper, but my dad was a Southern Baptist pastor.
Drew Franklin
Okay.
Caller Mike
For many years at Hazard. I grew up there and, and every year at the Black Gold Festival, they would have all the whole cast from Daisy Duke to the Boss Hog, and they would all ride through the parade at the.
Drew Franklin
Oh, that's kind of cool. I didn't know they did that. Well, they do it again. Although I'm sure some of those people are dead now. But.
Caller Mike
I know, I, I mean, after you said that, I was like, why hasn't Hazard connected those dots?
Drew Franklin
Well, no, that's good to know. Well, Matt, it's good to hear from you. Thank you, sir. I think they had. Who were, what was the characters. You had Bo and Luke. You had Daisy Dukes. You had Boss Hog. Yep.
Matt Jones
Cooter, Roscoe.
Drew Franklin
Is that a person?
Ryan Lemon
Roscoe P. Culture.
Drew Franklin
And there was a person named Cooter. Right. Enos yeah. Okay. Yeah, so that's good. By the way, I saw the city of Somerset. So the rumor I heard is they paid $30,000 for the thing. Okay, okay. That's what I heard. But they sold the car. They got the car at the end, sold it for $18,000 after it wrecked.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah. So they gave it.
Shannon The Dude
Paid 18,000.
Drew Franklin
Someone paid $18,000 for after it wrecked. So that means they got over half their money back. So I think that is a great deal that the city of Somerset got lot of attention.
Shannon The Dude
I was in Colorado. I had on a hat that said Kentucky. And the bartender went, did I just see a. The Dukes of Hazard car flying through the air in Kentucky? It's like all you want to talk about. I'm far out of the state. They want to know why we're doing it. Where Somerset, what's going on. So it got lots of attention, More than they probably even expected.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. I mean, amazing amount of attention. Yeah, it was worth. But they got eight. Would you have paid 18,000 for the wreck of the car?
Ryan Lemon
No, I wouldn't have.
Matt Jones
I got an idea.
Ryan Lemon
City of Somerset.
Matt Jones
We take the car and we have it jump over KS bar. That's how we reopen. We just reopen with the general legal.
Drew Franklin
I think that's gonna be a little. A little far for that. For that thing to go. Hey, Summer is calling. And in. A better auto rate from UK Federal Credit Union will help you whether you're shopping for a new ride or ready to refinance. You can take in a rate as low as 3.99% APR and membership is easy. We'll take a break. Be right back. Ksr. So the blue roof thing is a thing. It keeps out witches and fires.
Matt Jones
Yeah, we don't need witches.
Drew Franklin
We don't. We don't need witches.
Shannon The Dude
Told you.
Drew Franklin
I'll tell you, nothing scares Mario more than saying the word wish. He was convinced. Remember when we were in Milwaukee for the NCAA tournament and we went to that bar and he was convinced the woman in it was a witch? I mean, he was convinced it was. The person was a wit. He wanted to leave because he was like, that woman's a witch.
Matt Jones
I thought he was just joking at first. He was dead serious.
Drew Franklin
He was dead serious when I left, he was like, I want to go. Yeah.
Matt Jones
He didn't want any part of the scene.
Drew Franklin
Even right now, he's, like, serious about, like. You just. Don't. You. You really believe there are witches? Yes, you do. Get on the microphone here. Just.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, come on.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, come here. You. You really genuinely believe there are witches? I do. I do. Why? It's in the Bible, man. You know, witchcraft, all that. You know all that. But you thought that woman sitting in the bar, she was definitely a witch.
Matt Jones
You thought she was gonna fly away on a broom.
Drew Franklin
You genuinely thought she was a witch. What made you think she was a witch? She had, like, the little cards on her little table. Yeah, those are, like, Tara, she's dressed up. She was. Well, she didn't wear a witch costume. Did you see her necklaces? No. It's like, signs of, like, witchcraft. And you know all that. You know. You know, that's stuff that I don't mess with, so I know you don't, like. You're very serious about goblins. You genuinely were like, we got to get out of here.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah, well, he was the same way we went in Denver in that witch house in Denver. He was, like, sweating, and he was so nervous.
Drew Franklin
Well, I mean, I. I. In the bar, this woman was, like, sitting at the table next to us, and you. You did not look comfortable. Yeah, she was definitely a witch. In the Denver. The Denver shop, that was even worse. So then you should help paint the roof to keep them away. I can help. I can help whatever. Keep the witches away. I appreciate it.
Shannon The Dude
Are you talking about the woman with the Reuben Studdard tattoo and Clay Aiken tattoo?
Drew Franklin
She was the witch. Remember her?
Ryan Lemon
Oh, yeah.
Shannon The Dude
She had one on each thigh.
Drew Franklin
I do.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah, that's right.
Drew Franklin
I do remember.
Ryan Lemon
I forgot her.
Shannon The Dude
Okay.
Drew Franklin
She did have a Reuben stuttered on one thigh and a Clay Aiken on the other.
Ryan Lemon
She did the.
Shannon The Dude
My favorite part of that is she wanted to Clay Aiken, but when she went to get his autograph, Reuben was there, and she's like, Well, I could not ask him, too, since you just got both.
Drew Franklin
She didn't want him. Didn't want him to feel bad. Those of you writing me with people on the text machine, send it on email. Okay. Send it on email. And a couple of you've written about burgers. We are switching to the smash burger.
Ryan Lemon
Yes, we are.
Drew Franklin
So, like, we're switching, and it'll be a lot better. It's a Lot easier to make those more consistent. That's the key thing we're doing. We're like, we got to make our food more consistent because when it was good, it was really good, but sometimes it was inconsistent. We're making it more. And then we're adding stuff. We're adding a signature nacho.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
Some new appetizers, and it should be good.
Ryan Lemon
I'm really excited about our new stuff.
Drew Franklin
I'm too. I'm excited. I'm excited to get. I forgot. I didn't realize how much I would miss it because, you know, when you do something like that, it can be a little bit of a hassle. It can feel like you're always like, oh, here we go again. I've missed it the last few months.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
So I'm looking forward to it. Brian, go ahead. Brian.
Caller Mike
Hey, real quick. Fantastic show. Always in the summer. It's always entertaining. KWC Professor. So shout out.
Ryan Lemon
To shout out.
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Caller Mike
There's an artist. There's an. There's an artist in Ownsboro. His name is Aaron Kaiser. You can look him up. Aaron Kaiser.
Drew Franklin
I just had. Send me the info. I can't have everybody call me if they're artists. Just send me the info.
Caller Mike
Yeah, okay.
Ryan Lemon
I know, I know.
Caller Mike
He's a big UK fan. He knows.
Drew Franklin
I understand. But I can't have anybody calling with their bios. Just give me. Yeah, okay. All right.
Caller Mike
Okay. I just moved. Don't have WI fi, so that's why I'm calling. Okay.
Drew Franklin
Okay.
Caller Mike
So I just wanted to. I just want to mention that he's actually friends with car incident.
Drew Franklin
I gotta appreciate the call, man. That's three times. I can't. I can't, because if you do it, then somebody else will do it and somebody. I can't turn it into bios. I appreciate you listening and thank you. But, like, can't do that.
Shannon The Dude
I have one of his paintings in my house, so if we need to.
Drew Franklin
Reach him, I can call him. All right, Drew, go ahead. Drew. Drew, go ahead.
Caller Mike
Hello. Yes, I was calling about artist, too.
Drew Franklin
But obviously email about the artist.
Caller Mike
Yeah, what's the. What's the email? What's the email?
Drew Franklin
Matt.jonestuckysportsradio.com and I'll tell you what's even worse. Thank you. I broke my keys.
Shannon The Dude
Look at this.
Ryan Lemon
Oh, your key fob, bro.
Caller Mike
All right, thank you, guys.
Drew Franklin
Thank you. Appreciate.
Matt Jones
Look, Drew made you break together.
Drew Franklin
I just literally broke it back together. Here. You.
Shannon The Dude
You did break it pretty good, though.
Drew Franklin
Look at this. I'm not going to be Able to get in my car.
Caller Mike
It'll work.
Drew Franklin
Let me see it. Look at this.
Matt Jones
Two call made you so frustrated.
Drew Franklin
Two call. I just broke my keys. Here you go. See if you.
Shannon The Dude
I got you.
Drew Franklin
I just broke it in half.
Shannon The Dude
You did good.
Matt Jones
Smooth move.
Drew Franklin
Am I gonna be able to get back in my car? Yeah, we'll get it.
Shannon The Dude
We'll get it working. I mean, you broke it more than I thought you broke it. I will say that they don't make.
Matt Jones
Things like they used to.
Drew Franklin
No, they don't. Zach. Go ahead, Zach.
Caller Mike
Matt, I have an update in the Keith Whitley tent gate. Do you want to hear it?
Drew Franklin
Sure. Go for it.
Caller Mike
So my family is down in Panama City beach, staying about 20 yards away, according to my younger brother from the Jesse Keith Whitley tent. And I looked it up. Lori and. And Keith Whitley have a son named Jesse. And if you zoom into the picture from the Facebook group on that bridge, one of the guys is wearing a hat that says JKW on it. So apparently.
Drew Franklin
Okay. And it's also a performer. Interesting. Okay, now that. That makes more sense. It does. Shannon left that part of this.
Matt Jones
I didn't know that.
Drew Franklin
Okay.
Matt Jones
She had a son named Jesse Keith.
Drew Franklin
I appreciate it. Thank you very much. That help quite a bit. Thank you.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah. If he's. If he's a performer, that's the tent they use at his performances. Now it makes sense why they were using it on the.
Shannon The Dude
I think you're still missing pieces of it. I'm missing the. Another. I don't know. Did it just go everywhere?
Ryan Lemon
Look behind the keyboard up here, too.
Drew Franklin
Okay.
Ryan Lemon
They're on the ground.
Matt Jones
Looking forward to do this during the break.
Drew Franklin
I cannot believe. Impressive. How it. Cannot believe. I completely shattered that thing.
Ryan Lemon
You have another one at your house?
Drew Franklin
No, I think that's it.
Matt Jones
You're at the Uber home.
Drew Franklin
I am gonna have to Uber home.
Shannon The Dude
I'll take you home. Or to get a new key fob. These things are really expensive.
Drew Franklin
I had to get one.
Shannon The Dude
Once you get a number in mind. No, it's a lot more.
Drew Franklin
There's something.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, we need that piece.
Drew Franklin
There's something. Let's go to Kevin. Go ahead, Kevin.
Caller Mike
Hey, I was calling to get you to repeat your email so I could send it anyway. And you just did for me. But also had an idea for your weekend show after Myron's comments with the fireworks this weekend.
Drew Franklin
Okay.
Caller Mike
Your new name needs to be Sundays with Matt and Karen.
Drew Franklin
Okay. Well, yeah. That was Myron. Was. I appreciate the call. Myron called the police on the people shooting fireworks.
Ryan Lemon
In his neighborhood.
Drew Franklin
Called the police. He called the police because he said they were shooting fireworks too late at night. It was 11:50 on the Fourth of July. He called the police on a Friday night on the 4th. We'll take a break. Be right back. KSR, TJ Smith, personal injury attorney.
Ryan Lemon
Call TJ.
Drew Franklin
He'll make him pay.
Matt Jones
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Drew Franklin
I can't believe that thing broke.
Ryan Lemon
It kind of shattered.
Shannon The Dude
There were seven different pieces to that. I don't even know how you get seven pieces to a key fob.
Drew Franklin
Now you put it together. Mario's gonna go test and see if it work.
Shannon The Dude
Lighting up.
Drew Franklin
I'm lighting up. But it was. It was beeping. It was like flashing the whole time, though. That worries me.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, I hooked you up on that. That's a new feature I added.
Drew Franklin
It's a new feature. It always flash.
Shannon The Dude
Cool.
Drew Franklin
At least. If I can at least get it to the dealership. To who? That caller was Drew. They cost me money.
Matt Jones
Yeah, his name was Drew.
Drew Franklin
His name was Drew. Matt. It was not. The caller was actually witchcraft that caused you to do that. May have been.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
We were talking trash about the witchcraft, and maybe they. They fought back.
Shannon The Dude
I'm ready for the next caller to also be recommending artists when we need. Obviously need visuals to create these. We're just getting names also.
Drew Franklin
It's not just. It's not good radio just to have people go, I know a guy named Jack. Well, I know a guy.
Matt Jones
He's a lifelong fan.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. I mean, I just. He knows. I believe you. That you know those people. But, like, just email.
Matt Jones
What's it got to do with your.
Drew Franklin
Ability to paint that you're a lifelong fan. Yeah. All right, so, you know, if you listen to. Interrupted by Matt Jones, you know, a common theme is. Drew and I are becoming more and more scared. AI, have you seen the story this morning? No. There's now five different countries received calls from an AI Bot impersonating Secretary of State Marco Rubio and took the calls thinking it was Marco Rubio.
Caller Mike
Wow.
Drew Franklin
First of all, how'd they get their number? True. But secondly. Okay, now that's another thing to start worrying about. Right? Like, if you could create an AI to impersonate a world leader. First of all, we got it. We're starting. We're gonna have to have more controls to know it's them. But, Shannon, that's worrisome, isn't it?
Matt Jones
Yeah, yeah. That you could take AI. You could take anybody's voice and make them say anything.
Drew Franklin
And all five of them, they got through a layer, and then at some point, the conversation broke down and they realized, I don't think this is it.
Ryan Lemon
Well, just to get to that point.
Drew Franklin
You know, just to get to that point is scary.
Ryan Lemon
Yes, it is.
Shannon The Dude
Well, I think about, like, there's already videos of Trump. Like, there's one, it's obviously fake, where he put Zelensky in the headlock, and that's obviously not real. But if you could take a Trump video and just have him say something very serious, and you're not doing it as a meme or a joke, and people will believe it. You could get very reckless with that.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. Or anyone. Anybody. But the fact that, like, they called other countries, world leaders and said, marco Rubio online one and the call got through.
Matt Jones
Yeah. And the fact that they knew the number to call is kind of scary, too.
Ryan Lemon
You gotta think the other countries have high security levels. How'd they get through these first couple levels to get to that point?
Drew Franklin
We're cooked. I'm. I'm with you. There's a part of me like, no one is taking. Everybody's just full steam ahead, and nobody's like, hey, is this. Is this good?
Matt Jones
Good way to start a world war. I mean.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. It is so crazy that that story was worrisome to me when I saw it this morning. 859-280-2287. Who's next? Carson. Carson.
Caller Mike
Hey.
Matt Jones
Oh, don't slam it down.
Drew Franklin
Don't break it again. You go ahead, Carson.
Caller Mike
All right. First time, long time.
Drew Franklin
Who are.
Matt Jones
We can tell.
Caller Mike
What do y' all think about. How do you think our next. That's what season is going to go.
Drew Franklin
Appreciate the call. Good. I think it's good. Go. Good.
Shannon The Dude
I thought he's gonna recommend a painter. I was so excited I were gonna be an artist.
Drew Franklin
All right. At least I know what I'm getting with Bob and Jamestown. I know it's not gonna be on topic, so I'm prepared. This may be the most excited I've been for a Bob and Jamestown call in a long time. Go ahead, Bob.
Caller Mike
Okay. Matt Ryan accepted your donut challenge. How about if he turns the tables and give you a pool challenge to do some laps in this pool?
Drew Franklin
Yeah, it's not gonna happen.
Caller Mike
You did the city walk recently? 16 miles.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. I don't swim. I appreciate the call. I'm not a swimmer, but. But, yeah, I mean, I know. I know how to swim, but I'm not gonna swim well.
Ryan Lemon
We're gonna do the show, like in the pool. Like, put the equipment on the side.
Matt Jones
No.
Drew Franklin
Stand in.
Matt Jones
No, we're not doing that. The really bad idea.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. With you eating donuts, electric and water.
Shannon The Dude
Electrocuted in Ryan's pool. What a horrible way to go out.
Drew Franklin
What an awful decision. There's electricity going through that. And you want to stand in the pool. Do you want to. I mean, do you want to, like hold up a lightning bolt while we do it too?
Shannon The Dude
Throw the hairdryer in there.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, let's just throw the hair dryer in.
Matt Jones
Your last image is going to be Ryan eating donuts. That's what you're going to see on earth.
Drew Franklin
Pearly Gates. Let me see Ryan with icing on his face and his shirt off.
Shannon The Dude
And three random UK offensive linemen in the back.
Drew Franklin
It's not. It's not what I want at all. Let's go to Thomas. Go ahead, Thomas.
Caller Mike
Hey, I think we should put one of the pictures be Dan Issel on one of those pillars because he holds the record for scoring that I don't think will ever be broken. Because we'll never have anybody at that kind of talent that will keep for three years.
Drew Franklin
No, it's very. It's very unlikely. Matter of fact, I would say the rebound, if you're looking at Kentucky records that will never be broken, the rebound record is number one. Like, go look. The rebound record is like some obscene number. It's like 75,000 rebounds for a career. Does it work? All right. Drew Franklin, well done. Thank you. Thank you. That engineering, that is pretty impressive. You were able to fix that.
Shannon The Dude
Drew, I'm not as dumb as I act.
Drew Franklin
Nice. Well, thank you very much, Drew. But like, because back in the day, only one person for each team rebound, Right? So like if you go look, I'll pull up the rebounding records.
Shannon The Dude
I have the career leaders.
Drew Franklin
Okay.
Shannon The Dude
They're all pretty old, except for Oscar.
Drew Franklin
So. So to use Oscar's example, how many rebounds Oscar have in two years?
Shannon The Dude
952.
Drew Franklin
Okay. Who is the all time leader? Dennis in rebounds?
Shannon The Dude
Yep.
Drew Franklin
How many does he have?
Shannon The Dude
1078. Actually. Oscar wasn't too. With another year, Oscar would shatter it.
Caller Mike
Really?
Drew Franklin
Yep. I thought like Bob Burrow had somebody for a season.
Shannon The Dude
I'm on career.
Drew Franklin
Bob Burrow has some crazy amount, doesn't he?
Shannon The Dude
Well, this was points and rebounds for sure. The program all time leader. Maybe Bob Burrow had a big year. Well, Bill Spivey had a big season.
Drew Franklin
What do you have?
Shannon The Dude
567.
Drew Franklin
Okay. And who's the most? Maybe I'm Looking at season, who's the most in a season recent?
Shannon The Dude
Oscar515.
Drew Franklin
Okay, well then maybe I'm not as. Maybe I'm wrong.
Shannon The Dude
Oscar. If you take Oscar out, there's not many recent.
Drew Franklin
What's the next one besides Oscar?
Shannon The Dude
Randall. Randall.
Drew Franklin
And Randall was what low four hundreds.
Shannon The Dude
He was over 150 shy of Bill Spivey's season.
Drew Franklin
How much more was Oscar than Randall? Because Randall one season, Randall played 40 games. So he played. Oscar wouldn't have even 20 something. And so Randall played 40 games. How many games did Oscar get? He only got like 33 or something.
Shannon The Dude
32.
Drew Franklin
So Oscar had eight fewer games and 100 more rebounds than Randall.
Ryan Lemon
Wow.
Shannon The Dude
And no, no. 20 more than Randall and several fewer games.
Drew Franklin
Okay.
Shannon The Dude
Oscar's fifth for a single season, but everybody above him is your boy Bob Burrow, Cliff Hagen, Bill Spivey, and then Randall seventh.
Drew Franklin
Okay, I don't. You know, we probably don't appreciate how good Oscar was on the rebounding. Like when we talk about the greatest players, Oscar's going to be destiny to be forgotten even though he was national player of the year.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah, we talk about people that should have their jersey retired or whatever. We always forget Oscar. Yet he had accolades as good as anybody.
Drew Franklin
You think he'll be remembered in 25 years for as good as he was?
Shannon The Dude
No, I think people are already starting to forget it just because the kind.
Ryan Lemon
Of the team, the era that he.
Shannon The Dude
Was a part of. He had 28 in one game. People have haven't done that since like the 50s.
Drew Franklin
He had 28 in one game. Does that have 24 game rebound? Does he hold the single game rebound record?
Shannon The Dude
I think there's one that's real old about pull. He can't be far behind it.
Drew Franklin
Pull it up.
Ryan Lemon
Jared Prickett had one game. We had like over 21 times.
Drew Franklin
Well, while you're looking at that, let me do Bob Burrow. Bob. What would Bob Burrow have?
Shannon The Dude
Actually, Bob Burrow and Bill Spivey each have 34 in a game, but Oscar has games with 28, 25 and 24.
Drew Franklin
In the modern era. That's crazy. Oh yeah, in the modern era. That's an insane amount of.
Shannon The Dude
The most recent on the list that's not Oscar is 1964.
Drew Franklin
Okay, well, they played fewer games back in the Bob Burrow too. So anyway, hey folks, for the first time we got a full blown all women's boxing mega event. Shannon, how about that? All women the same night. It's. It's this Friday night. DraftKings sportsbook is prep is the sponsor. Katie Taylor versus Amanda Serrano. And then Alicia the Bomb Bomb Gardener. Alicia the Bomb Bomb Gardener.
Matt Jones
Knock your head off.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. Well, watch out for Jennifer Miranda. Fireworks are incoming with DraftKings. Here's what you do. Download the DraftKings Sports App promo code KSR150 in bonus bets. Bet $5. Ryan Lemon
You should go female.
Drew Franklin
Female boxing. Whatever. But they just told me like yesterday.
Shannon The Dude
Boxing, huh? You big fan of female box?
Drew Franklin
I don't have. I think it's female boxing just kind of icks me out a little bit. But I mean I bet it would be good seeds.
Ryan Lemon
You would have Great seats for DraftKings.
Drew Franklin
DraftKings. But I didn't know what. What I would do when I got there.
Shannon The Dude
Just that on boxing.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
I mean I do like Alicia the Bomb Bomb Gardener.
Shannon The Dude
Good name.
Drew Franklin
But I don't know that I would. I would go. We'll take a break. Be right back. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-280-2287. Thank you to Drew for fixing that key.
Shannon The Dude
You're welcome.
Drew Franklin
Hopefully it still works the whole time, but I appreciate it. Couple before I go back to the phones. Shannon, take a deep breath before we go back to what? No, no, no. The callers saying whatever. Okay. Did you all see the disaster that was the Cubs game last night. Not on the field.
Ryan Lemon
I don't know this.
Drew Franklin
So first of all, the opening first pitch. Did you see Alvin Kamara?
Shannon The Dude
No.
Drew Franklin
No. Goes into the realm of worst ones of all time.
Shannon The Dude
Nice.
Drew Franklin
Bounced it 7ft in front of him. He's fortunate that the angle is not like it won't go as but it was awful. He asked for the ball back to do it again.
Matt Jones
No, that's why it's a first pitch. You only get one crack at it.
Drew Franklin
Well, they gave it to him and he did better the second time. But the first pitch is like the mayor of Cincinnati that one time bad.
Shannon The Dude
Just looks like he throws it straight down.
Drew Franklin
He throws it straight down to the ground. Looks like it either slipp out of his hand or whatever. Alvin Kamar then you know if for Cubs people singing Take me out to the ball game is the thing.
Ryan Lemon
It's a big deal.
Drew Franklin
They got the call her daddy woman. Alex Cooper.
Ryan Lemon
Alex Cooper.
Drew Franklin
Did you see it? I did see.
Shannon The Dude
I saw this.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
Oh, painful.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah. She had helpers.
Drew Franklin
She tried to do, like, a dance routine.
Ryan Lemon
Yes.
Drew Franklin
And she also couldn't sing.
Ryan Lemon
Correct.
Drew Franklin
Sounded like, to me, maybe she was even trying to do a Harry Carey impersonation. Yeah.
Ryan Lemon
Her voice was like. She dropped her voice really low.
Drew Franklin
It was awful. And like, they kept giggling. And by the end, the crowd is booing her, like, out of the stadium booing.
Ryan Lemon
Because that's a big deal.
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Ryan Lemon
To sing Take Me out to the Ball Game.
Drew Franklin
I'm sure she thought, this will be funny. People will think it's cute. Didn't work.
Shannon The Dude
As someone who's been booed by an entire major league baseball stadium, I will say it's pretty good. Adrenaline rush. But that wasn't her best performance. Was it, like Daddy Gang day at Wrigley Field. That's what they call that.
Drew Franklin
They called it their listeners.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
That's what they call the women that listen. Yeah.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah. Wasn't it wasn't the best showing.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. She got booed out of the stadium. If you got asked to sing Take Me out to the Ball Game, would you do it?
Ryan Lemon
Oh, yeah.
Drew Franklin
Wouldn't you be nervous?
Ryan Lemon
Of course I'd be nervous. But I wouldn't turn down that opportunity to do it at Wrigley Field.
Matt Jones
Yeah, but then you can just turn it over to the crowd, too. You can just start it out.
Drew Franklin
Take Me out to the. And then just hold it out.
Matt Jones
Take care of the rest. First pitch is probably more.
Drew Franklin
I was there when Drew got booed at Cincinnati Stadium, and he deserved every minute of it.
Shannon The Dude
Loved every second.
Drew Franklin
They played that game again last night, and Tall and I were at the game and we talked about you getting booed. No one has ever played a game on the big screen worse than Drew Franklin. They started the game and he just froze up and just stared.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, I was waiting for the cards.
Drew Franklin
To flip over straight ahead. And the crowd, I mean, mercilessly moody. That, by the way, was a disaster all the way around. They bring us up there. It's me, Drew, Chris Tomlin, and Crixus.
Ryan Lemon
Oh, yeah, that's right.
Drew Franklin
The wrestler Crixus. Crixus just happened to be there. Walked on stage with us. Me, Drew, Chris Tomlin, and Crixus. They start the game. Droop is play. He's supposed to say, like, card one and card seven and match them. But Drew doesn't understand the rules.
Shannon The Dude
I thought they flipped them all at once. I had to memorize it real quick. And then identify them. So I'm waiting for the flip.
Drew Franklin
So the clock starts, and Drew's just standing there, staring, staring for like, six or seven very uncomfortable seconds.
Shannon The Dude
I'm like, is the flipper not ready?
Drew Franklin
Let's go. Finally I go, drew, say something. And then he's like, number four. And then he gets no matches. Crowd is booing. The woman is like, what? And then Crixus grabs the woman's hand, takes the microphone, and tries to start cutting a promo. He's like, I'm Crixus. And then they cut it off. It was a disaster. It was an absolute disaster. I was like, crixus, you can't be grabbing the microphone from people. But he had never been to a baseball game. He didn't even know what he was, where he was. He didn't know. You can't just grab the microphone. Drew standing there like he's never even seen a card.
Shannon The Dude
I'd still be standing there if someone hadn't been like, say a number. But see my thing. If I'd gone up there and gotten three out of four matches, we all would have forgot. An hour later, life would have gone on. This was brought up to me a week ago. We're talking about it now. I made a moment. I made an event.
Drew Franklin
I put on a show day. And there were hundreds of KSR fans. And they booed you. We went back to our seats. Ryan. And the KSR section was booing Drew.
Shannon The Dude
My family booed me.
Drew Franklin
It was terrible.
Shannon The Dude
It was for the content.
Drew Franklin
Tom. Go ahead, Tom.
Caller Mike
Hey, man. Y' all were discussing Kentucky State kind of under the radar at media days and stuff. And that made me reflect back to when Stoop asked all the fans to pony up. Do you think if he had an unlimited budget, he would have been able to turn it around?
Drew Franklin
I mean, unlimited budget and he could get anybody. Yeah. But if you're talking about, could he have. Let's just say he had Alabama and A and M's budget. Yeah. I mean, could they be better than they've been? Sure. But we don't. And so, you know, there's a part of me, and I appreciate the call where. Where you have to say, okay, you take the Kentucky job. This is. This is it. Right. Like, this is what it is. You know, you go. You go manage the Florida Marlins. You can't complain that they don't sign the players. It's the Florida Marlins. You knew that when you came. But if they had Alabama and A and M's budget, would they be better? Yeah. Would they be as good as Alabama. Probably not, because Alabama has a tradition and all that stuff, you know? So, yeah, if we had more money, it'd be better. If I had wheels, I'd be a wagon. Right. Like, we are what we are.
Ryan Lemon
It would definitely be better. We'd get better players, but we're still way behind. And like you said, the tradition that.
Drew Franklin
Alabama, you go take the Murray State job. You can't say, well, if we had the resources of. You're at Murray State. You knew that when you took the job. Right? David, go ahead. David.
Caller Mike
Hey, I got two things for you. First of all, with. Sorry, I just got out of the dentist chair and hear if you guys discuss this or not. But first thing is for Ryan, if he's going to do the. The 10 donut challenge and you guys are gonna raise money, make it a fundraiser, I suggest Ryan's favorite fundraiser.
Drew Franklin
We talked about that. We did talk about that earlier, but I mean, also, like, he. If. If he can ra. If we raise money, he also has a right to keep it because he's putting on a show. If he wants to donate, he can, but he shouldn't be guilted into donating the money.
Caller Mike
Well, Ryan's got a big heart, so I know he would do something like that. But anyhow, the other thing is, I'm not sure if you guys have come across this article and known about from that. The big, beautiful bill. Whatever. Did you hear. Did you know about how the gambling is changing in regards to.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, no, it's a thousand dollars. Yeah. If you. If you. I appreciate the call. If you end up losing money and gambling, you can still owe taxes. Whoa. Worst part of the bill. Yeah. So, like, if you get it, if we win. And then also if you were to get $1,000 winning, used to be if you lost $1,000 in another bet, you could write it off. And it's even now. If you lose the thousand dollars, you still have to pay some of the taxes on the one you won, even though you lost later. Really? Yeah, it's terrible. But, you know, the reality is it's complicated. So a lot of people don't understand it, but for people who are big into gambling, they're really, really upset about it. KSR listeners. Podcast Summary: KSR - Hour 2 (July 8, 2025)
Hosted by Matt Jones and the KSR crew from iHeartPodcasts and Sports Talk 790 (WKRD-AM), this episode of Kentucky Sports Radio (KSR) delves into a variety of engaging topics, ranging from local business renovations to sports statistics and community interactions. Below is a detailed summary capturing the key discussions, insights, and memorable moments from the episode.
The episode kicks off with Drew Franklin discussing the extensive renovations underway at KS Bar. The team is revamping the menu to introduce new items while maintaining popular favorites. Additionally, significant changes are being made to the interior flooring and the bar's exterior porch.
Key Points:
Exterior Visibility: The current porch is obscured by TVs and other fixtures, making the bar difficult to spot from Harrodsburg Road. The renovation includes removing these obstructions to enhance visibility and attract more patrons.
Community Artwork: Drew emphasizes the desire to feature portraits of past UK players on the front pillars of the bar. He outlines the need for skilled painters who can create high-quality murals directly on the pillars.
Notable Quote:
Drew Franklin (03:00): "We want to paint on the front of the pillars, UK players from the past. All right, so we want to paint like Anthony Davis, John Wall. There's, I think there's three or four of them. We'll figure out what we want to paint, but we need somebody to do it."
Drew Franklin calls upon the listeners to contribute to the renovation projects, seeking talented individuals who can assist with the painting of the pillars. He also introduces the idea of involving the community in testing new wing sauces to ensure consistency and quality.
Key Points:
Artistic Contributions: The team is looking for local artists to paint portraits of renowned UK players such as Anthony Davis, John Wall, Jared, and Freddy.

Notable Quote:
Drew Franklin (05:00): "We're almost making it to where Drew and the listeners help tell us what's good. We want to open it up to people so that they can help us figure out what we should have."
In a lighthearted segment, the team discusses painting the bar's roof blue and white. This playful initiative is humorously linked to warding off witches and protecting the bar from "lasers."
Key Points:
Roof Color Change: The existing green roof is deemed unattractive, and the team plans to repaint it to make the bar more welcoming.

Implications for the Future: The discussion emphasizes the need for enhanced security measures to prevent such impersonations and the broader impact on global trust and communication.
Notable Quote:
Drew Franklin (25:18): "How'd they get their number? True. But secondly... if you could create an AI to impersonate a world leader, first of all, we got it. We're starting to have more controls to know it's them."
