Matt Jones
Welcome to our two of Kentucky sports radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones, Drew and I.
Drew
Talking during the break. Scott make me wanting to watch the Wire again. Such a good show but you think it's best show of all time.
Caller 2
I have three that I can't split up.
Drew
What do you got?
Caller 2
Wire, Sopranos and Breaking Bad.
Drew
I mean those are the three best.
Caller 2
I can't put one above the other.
Drew
Those are the three best I think.
Caller 2
With Eastbound and down in very close four.
Drew
I think in some ways it's PR is the most rewatchable because you could Pick it up at any point and kind of Wire and Breaking Badge you kind of have to watch in a row. Those are, in my opinion, though, are definitively the three best dramas of all time. And I would say Better Call Saul is right there with them for me. For the best four.
Caller 2
If Game of Thrones hadn't fumbled the last end of it, the end, I would have had it in the.
Drew
Up there with any.
Caller 1
You know, I still have the third episode Sopranos queued up. Ready to continue our watch party.
Drew
If you.
Caller 2
I'm going to rewatch right now. Join me.
Drew
Yeah. If you never seen the Wire.
Caller 1
Never seen it.
Drew
See, I think you. I mean, the Wire. The Wire is so addictive. We were just sitting there talking about characters.
Caller 1
I like succession a lot. It was one of my favorite songs.
Drew
I think that's. I think when you get to season two, three and four, season one's in. But two, three and four, you get. Season three and four are awesome.
Caller 1
I did like the bear. The last season was not very good. Now you're telling me this season is not very good.
Drew
It's just slow. I mean, it's just. It's too much like everybody feels sorry for themselves and it's just, you know, wow.
Caller 2
I've had multiple people tell me get through the first half of this season. It gets really good.
Drew
That's what's making me stick with it. I hope that's right. One person writes Matt. I think Wrestlers would have been better with more Matt Jones and Ryan Lemon. Definitely more. Ryan Litman didn't have enough Ryan Lemon in Wrestlers.
Caller 1
Well, our. We tried to put on a little performance on the big finale there for Shannon. Watch Shannon get his ass whooped that night. So that was kind of funny.
Drew
You know, that's gotten a second life on wwe.
Caller 1
Has it really?
Drew
Or on. Oh, without question. We've seen it. Like our viewers and stuff have gone. If it's gotten back on the algorithm because of Raw being on Netflix. Yeah, yeah. No, it's you. We definitely have seen a. An uptick. You can tell people are discovering it again. My mom said at the gondolier somebody came up to her and said you're Matt Jones's mom for wrestlers.
Caller 1
Really?
Drew
Just last week recognized from Wrestlers. How about that Shannon?
Matt Jones
That's pretty awesome. Yeah, I think we could have had of her on there, too.
Caller 2
I have an update to our last topic before you move on to what you have next with the teeth thing. Did a little research. There was just a study, a ranking of the states with dental health.
Drew
Okay. Where Are we?
Caller 2
We are proudly in 44th.
Caller 1
Yeah.
Drew
All right, who's behind us?
Caller 2
Let me tell you about Arkansas.
Drew
Yeah.
Caller 2
Not even top 50. They're number 51. Included Washington, D.C. in the study.
Drew
Arkansas is last.
Caller 2
We don't even have 50 states. States. And they didn't make 51 states.
Drew
Everyone should go to Bobby's Tik Toks accounts and go. You're last in teeth.
Caller 2
Teso, Alaska.
Drew
Eat it.
Caller 2
Montana, Louisiana, Texas, and then of course West Virginia and Mississippi.
Drew
Arkansas. We have more teeth than Montana and.
Caller 2
We are just a decimal behind Alabama for 43rd.
Drew
Exciting. Bobby Ball. We got the most teeth. One person writes, matt, I would not go to South Africa. You're a white person. You could get murdered. Well, I could get murdered anywhere. I could get murdered here. You could argue. It's much more dangerous for me in Louisville than it is in. Than it is in South Africa.
Matt Jones
You can survive Louisville. I think you'll be fine there.
Caller 1
I'm sure they're taking you guys to a secured area or a safe area or they wouldn't send you over there.
Drew
Well, I mean there's. I'm going with the guy who might be the next governor of Illinois or, excuse me, of Georgia. So I'm assuming they're going to take us somewhere safe.
Caller 1
True.
Drew
If they don't, I won't be the headline.
Caller 2
What about the safari though? Zebra.
Drew
He's not going to safari. So that might be. Might be a little different. 859-280-2287 is Ask Anything Wednesday the summer league starts. Well, the Vegas summer league starts tonight. The other one started earlier. Are you going to watch it?
Caller 1
If it's on, I'll watch it, but I won't make a point to watch it.
Drew
You got to watch it.
Caller 2
Oh yeah, I'm looking forward to it. Tomorrow at 3:30 we have Rob Dillingham, verse, Antonio Reeves and a little Keon Brooks.
Drew
So that's what time?
Caller 2
3:30. First. First game.
Drew
Rob Dillingham versus Antonio Reese and Keon Brooks. Okay.
Caller 2
They're teamed up.
Drew
Who do you.
Caller 2
Next year's are the guys that are all new, the rookies that just from Pope's team. Most of them are. I think we wait till Friday. I think Jackson Robinson plays.
Drew
So you got. Reed is not playing.
Caller 2
Reed is playing.
Drew
Reed is playing. Yeah. Okay, so Reed's playing, Rob's playing, Antonio Reeves is playing, Justin Edwards is playing. And then all the guys from this year are playing. Keon Brooks is playing.
Caller 1
Yeah.
Drew
So you got Jackson Robinson, Kobe Braya, Andrew Carr, Amari Williams, who Am I missing Lamont Butler?
Caller 2
Butler's playing top on her teammates. That could be fun.
Drew
So a lot of Kentucky guys, you know, I'll be interested some. I think the big storylines. I think Dillingham got a like read. Shepherd's playing next year. The Rockets basically it came out that they, they would not trade Reed shepherd to the Suns. The Suns wanted to make Reed Shepherd a big part of that Durant trade. The Rockets would not trade him. So let's just assume Reed is good. I think Rob's got a show. He can play.
Caller 1
Yes, he does.
Drew
Antonio Reeves got released by New Orleans. They're letting him play for the summer league team. So in some ways Antonio Reeves is for a job in the NBA somewhere. And then you got these dudes. Kobe Bray is going to make the team. I think Amari's gotta like play well. And then these other guys, I don't know if they're going to make their teams. They're probably not but they're kind of playing to get known. So this is a big summer league for all these guys.
Caller 1
You think Amari can make the Celtics?
Drew
Well, Amari is going to be on a two way. I think he'll be with the Celtics. I don't know if he will make the roster in Boston but he'll probably play for their G league team. But the rest of the guys like Lamont Butler and Andrew Carr and Jackson Robins and they need to play well to even get the two way and to get the. So it's. It's a big thing for all of them.
Caller 2
Definitely Friday night is one we'll really want to watch. I think Kobe Bray and Reed shepherd are on the same, same time, just different channels. So you could do a little back and forth. Kobe Braya. Lance Ware made the Knicks. If you still.
Drew
If you Lance where you want to throw out a.
Caller 2
How about Lance?
Drew
He's playing with the dude. Playing for who? The Lakers?
Caller 2
Yeah, he didn't play with them yet because they were in Utah. But once they get to Vegas, I mean there's several former Kentucky players.
Caller 1
Brooks was in the NBA at the end of the season last year.
Drew
You know I've been to the summer league. It's. It's a cool thing. It used to be really cool because they used to have it in really small gyms. Like I went John Wall's first year and I sat two rows from LeBron. Like that was awesome. So I think Cooper Flag is his first game tonight or tomorrow.
Caller 2
Cooper Flag and I think Vegas starts tomorrow.
Drew
Yeah. So Cooper Flag I think plays Bronnie tomorrow night. And that'll be a show.
Caller 1
That's when you. I can't be interested to watch.
Drew
I think it's on ESPN tomorrow night. Cooper flag.
Caller 1
I can understand why it's on there.
Drew
Let's go Ask Anything Wednesday. Let's go to Casey. Go ahead, Casey.
Caller 3
Hey, good morning, fellers. So this morning I bought tickets to take my son to his first concert. And I was wondering what your all first concerts were and what's your best and worst concert? And that's all I had. Thanks, guys.
Drew
Okay, first concert for me, my first one without my parents was Tom Petty in Rupp Arena. Went with dj. The whole crowd was smoking so much weed and Shannon, I didn't really know what it was. But by the end I felt like I was. Was smoking weed.
Matt Jones
You thought somebody killed a skunk around you.
Drew
I also went with the Burt and Blake Maddox to Hammer, MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice tour. That was when I was in middle school. Best concert. Probably kicking it on the creek in that holler I went to.
Caller 1
Yeah.
Drew
And then Tyler Childer's show at the Burrow after he'd gotten big but still played the Burl. That's the coolest environment I've ever seen. Because you knew, like, this is the last time this dude's ever gonna play a small vineyard. Like, he'll never play in a place like this ever again. And that was really cool. What about you? What's your best one?
Caller 1
Oh, my first one I went without my parents was 38 special and Bon Jovi. Bon Jovi opened up for 38 special, but my first concert was the Oak Ridge Boys and the opening was Ray Stevens.
Drew
Oh, right. Sneaky. No, wait a minute. What were some racing? Oh, yes.
Caller 1
They call him the Streak.
Drew
The Streak, that's right. Yes. Okay. What about you? What was your first and best?
Caller 2
My first without my parents. And it's like a big concert is me and my buddies, we took a limo to Robert Stadium in high school to see Nelly, Ja Rule and Ashanti. And they were. And the St. Lunatics. And they were approximately two and a half hours late.
Drew
Oh, yeah.
Caller 2
We just sat there waiting and waiting and waiting.
Drew
Where's Nelly? Where's Ja Rule?
Caller 2
He had been at the Evansville Mall that afternoon. So it's like, we know you're here. Just please come out. Like, what are you doing in Evansville right now? So that was my first Dirks. Bentley is my worst at Rupp Arena. Sorry to any Dirks, but Bentley fans.
Drew
I heard that one was really Bad. Why was it?
Matt Jones
Well, one.
Caller 2
I'm not even really a fan, but it was just. There was like, this gigantic plane and he was dressed as a pilot.
Drew
That was one where, like, a lot of people left halfway through, like, one grade.
Caller 2
Yeah. I might have been among the ones.
Drew
And what was the best one?
Caller 2
Probably a Buffett concert. I just can't tell you why it was the best. It probably was before the concert that made it the best. Actually, Zach Bryant at Railbird a few years ago here at Red Mile was pretty awesome when it started raining, so I'll say that one.
Drew
All right. What about you, Shannon?
Matt Jones
I can't remember my first one without my parents, but I can tell you the first one that I went to with my parents, with my mom, and that was Cher in Nashville.
Drew
Oh, it was not.
Matt Jones
Here was the deal.
Drew
If you could turn back time.
Matt Jones
If I went to see Cher with my mom, my mom would take me to go see Stone Temple Pilots when I was 14 years old. She wouldn't let me go to a concert.
Drew
You gotta be the only person that went to share. Stone Temple Pilots.
Matt Jones
That's right. And that was. That was in 96. Seven at the Louisville Gardens, right down the road from here.
Drew
And what was the best one?
Matt Jones
That was probably the best one because it was my first one.
Drew
Yeah, no, I can see that.
Matt Jones
Yeah, for sure.
Drew
Share, share in Stone Temple Pilots. I love it. Let's go to Al. Go ahead, Al.
Caller 3
Hey, good morning.
Drew
Good morning.
Caller 3
Hey, I want to thank you for bringing up Better Call Saul. I loved that. Better than Break It Bad.
Drew
It's great.
Caller 3
Omar and the Wire. That's awesome. But have you ever seen the Shield?
Drew
I have. I like it. It's kind of for been a forgotten show, in part because the Wire came after it. And I think people thought it was a little bit. I think the Shield is very good.
Caller 3
Very, very good. Now back to the Crystal Rogers thing. There was evidence. There was a tremendous amount of cell phone evidence. I mean, a lot of it. That put him in critical places at critical times. And then one other thing that nobody's bringing up. If you ever watch any crime show when the FBI sets somebody down, they say, where were you at 8 o' clock on whatever day? Okay, yes. And then when the people answer, they'll say, well, walk me through what you did. The guy says, okay, I fixed breakfast. Okay, what did you fix? Well, when they ask broke out stack question, he would not answer because he knew it would be a trap. He didn't. He refused to tell where was the trap.
Drew
Like it wasn't. It was in Bowling Green.
Caller 1
Yeah.
Drew
Okay.
Caller 3
Yes.
Drew
All right. I got you. Well, I appreciate it, Al. Thank you. I'm sorry. Sorry we lost. I haven't. I didn't follow it. We listened to that podcast when it came out years ago, the Bardstown podcast, but I really didn't follow. Follow the trial. But I know there were people that were following it, like, minute by minute. I didn't really do that.
Caller 2
I tried to keep up with as best I can. Is usually at night, I just scroll through that. Shay McAllister and Louisville, the reporter, she.
Drew
Did a good job.
Caller 2
I would usually just go to her profile. Seems they're not done. I was watching a news clip where they interviewed one of the investigators, detectives about what's next, and he says, basically, like, sit tight. You'll see. So there's still a lot more to solve in. In Bardstown that I think this will lead to more.
Drew
Let me go back. You said there was. What did you mean when they said there was a parade?
Caller 1
Well, the. The townspeople all gathered in the town square.
Drew
You know, the townspeople, like it's the Middle Ages.
Caller 1
And they all wore pink because that was crystal's favorite color. And they all had signs. Yeah, Ballard Strong. They kept chanting Ballard Strong. They were waiting for the Ballard family to come back from Bowling Green to ride through the town square. And they were all just kind of cheered. Cheered for. Welcomed them back home.
Matt Jones
There were cars honking their horns constantly. It was a big to do.
Caller 1
Yeah.
Drew
Wow. Okay. Well, I mean, that was. That's. That's been a long. And remember, it was. It wasn't just her, it was the police. Like, there was just so much happening during that I couldn't see.
Caller 1
I first started doing the show with you. Bartown had just been voted like, the what, the Clint.
Matt Jones
Beautiful.
Caller 1
Most beautiful America.
Drew
Yeah.
Caller 1
And then all these murders happen, and it's just like, what's going on in Bardstown still, though?
Drew
I think. I mean, if you're ranking. If you were telling somebody you have to go to a town of less than 20,000 people in Kentucky, if somebody would say, where should I visit? Would you say Bardstown first?
Caller 1
Maybe my first.
Drew
I would think Bardstown would be the first choice.
Caller 1
Yeah, no doubt.
Drew
What would. What else?
Caller 1
I've always. I don't know. It's just me, but I always like Danville.
Caller 2
I was going to say Danville, too.
Drew
Okay, I can see that. So Bardstown, Danville. How big is Paducah? Is it bigger than that?
Caller 1
It's bigger than 20,000.
Drew
Yeah. Okay. I think Paducah is nice.
Caller 1
Downtown. Paducah on the riverfront's really nice.
Drew
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Mount Washington.
Drew
I would not say Mount.
Matt Jones
I would.
Caller 1
I think some people would say Cynthiana.
Drew
Yeah. I could see Cynthiana.
Caller 1
Yeah.
Drew
I mean, there's not as much to do as these other places, but I could see Cynthia.
Caller 1
Yeah. If you want in small town Kentucky.
Caller 2
A little midway over here, what would.
Drew
You say it would be the town. Yeah, definitely midway. What would you say would be the town to go to in eastern Kentucky?
Caller 1
That's a great question. You know better than I do.
Drew
Yeah. There'd be different things for what you wanted to accomplish.
Caller 1
Yeah.
Drew
I mean, the prettiest is probably to go into the Pike. Pikeville area because you can go up in the breaks and all that stuff.
Caller 1
Yeah. Because like natural bridge is not really attached to a city.
Drew
Yeah. I don't know. That's a tough question.
Caller 1
It is a tough question.
Drew
Yeah. 859-280-2287. It's Ask Anything Wednesday. Couple open lines. Give us a shout. We'll take a break. Be right back.

You know what I might say.
Drew
Welcome back Techie Sports Radio 512-57-1080 Text Machine 772-774-5254 Ask Anything Wednesday one person writes. Matt, what do you think about the radio guy in Kansas City saying that Patrick Mahomes was embarrassing because he has let himself have a dad bod? I saw that. First of all, that's a bold radio host in Kansas City to call out Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City. Man's only brought three Super Bowls to your st and franchise. Maybe show him a little respect.
Matt Jones
Here's the exact quote. Dude, you're fat. Stop the fast food. Do a setup. Do anything. That's pretty harsh.
Caller 1
I think he's earned the right to.
Drew
Go through a drive through Patrick Mahomes can eat as much as he wants. Like, he's. Mahomes has been awesome.
Caller 1
Yeah, I think he's earned the right to do that.
Drew
And have you seen is there anything about his game that said like by the end Brady was kind of fat and then he like after he got done, got in shape. But like those. There were a couple years where he was a little, you know, Peyton Manning was never, I mean, I don't know if he's ever fat, but Peyton Manning was not. Like, I bet he had a physical specimen. I bet he did too. So we Roethlisberg. Yeah, we also. I saw the picture. I wish I had that body. He doesn't look fat at all. He doesn't look fat at all to me. Like, okay, is he ripped? Maybe not. But like 98% of men would be fine looking like Mahomes looks right now. Right.
Caller 2
Also, he's at a Fourth of July cookout. He's not gonna have a little extra weight at the cookout.
Caller 1
Interesting strategies. Interesting strategy for that guy in Kansas City to criticize Kansas City to do the team.
Drew
I don't get it.
Caller 2
There are some pro athletes that will completely let themselves go for a month, and in three weeks of getting back on their training, they're back to rip.
Caller 1
Amen.
Caller 2
Let the guy have a summer. I mean, I don't want to use examples we know, but there's been some pictures of John Wall in the summer where you're like, oh, my goodness, that's John Wall. And September rolled around and he looked great. Guys go on vacation.
Drew
Quarterback. You need to be all that ripped.
Caller 1
You don't really have as long as you can.
Drew
I mean, if you are, that's great. But, like, I've never looked at Patrick Mahomes and said, you know, that guy needs to be more athletic. Like, that's never, to me, been the problem with him.
Matt Jones
He's not.
Drew
But also, I just want to say that the standard, like, I want to see that dude with his shirt off. True. I mean, Mahomes, to me, Shannon did not look that bad. Did he? You?
Matt Jones
No, no, no. He wasn't ripped. But again, at quarterback, I don't think that you have to be. There's a lot of great quarterbacks who probably had dad bods. You don't have to be shredded to be a great quarterback.
Drew
He went to the super bowl last year.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Drew
He's won three Super Bowls. I think he's one three and what? Been to five or something. Or something. He's doing okay.
Caller 2
I think whatever he does in the off season is working.
Drew
Yeah, I think he's going to be all right. I just. If you're a radio host in Kansas City, though, that seems like a. A shocking way to go. Cody. Go ahead, Cody.
Caller 3
Yeah, I think we need to have more Ryan Lemon does Ray Stevens songs. If we could get that set up, that would be great.
Drew
I would enjoy that, too.
Caller 3
What I wanted to do was call back to the TV shows. You're a big Seinfeld guy, right?
Drew
Yes.
Caller 3
So I think we take. And it's my comfort show. It's what I go to sleep to. I don't want to change anything about it, but I'd like to see an alternate universe where Kramer's the main guy, and then his friend Bob Sacamano, that he always references is the character. And Jerry. Jerry is the one that we don't see, but we hear about all those antics.
Drew
See, I worry about if you made Kramer, the main character would get a little exhausting because he's so over the top.
Caller 3
I want the show to be complete chaos.
Drew
Yeah, it would definitely be chaos. You get a lot more Newman. I appreciate the call. I like the idea. It's just Kramer's a lot. I think you need Kramer in small doses. It is interesting. There are shows which are very famous where the main character is the most boring person on the show.
Caller 1
Yeah.
Drew
Seinfeld, most boring person on show. Shannon, I hate to say it. Andy Griffith, you know, incredible. Andy Griffith is the most boring person on that show.
Matt Jones
He is. Wasn't he originally supposed to be the bumbling character and then they brought in Barney?
Drew
I think I've read that he was supposed to be bumbling, and then Barney was better at bumbling, so they made him straight. The straight.
Caller 3
Yeah.
Drew
Can you think of other shows where the main person. Well, okay. Family Matters. The family was supposed to be the main thing, and it quickly became the Urkel show.
Caller 1
I was going to suggest Cheers. All the surrounding characters were much more interesting than Ted Danson was, I thought.
Drew
Really? Yeah. Nor go that he was, like, getting ladies and stuff.
Caller 1
The other guys were kind of made the show funny.
Drew
Yeah. Trying to think Seinfeld and Andy Griffith are the two that stand out to me, the. Because I don't particularly think in either of those shows, the main charact is. I mean, Seinfeld is just a straight man to almost all the jokes. Right.
Caller 2
Yeah. I'm still. I'm still racking my brain of secondary characters I love more.
Drew
Yeah. Well, I mean, depending on who you think the main character is in Gemstones, John Goodman is the least interesting character. Gemstone.
Caller 1
Yeah.
Drew
So, Corey. Go ahead, Corey.
Caller 3
Hey, Matt, take the headset off real quick. This is for Shannon and Drew. You guys are obviously right about Epstein, which is fine. So my ask anything question is, is what is your favorite conspiracy to talk about? Because if you don't believe in a conspiracy theory at all, you have to believe that the government's told you the truth about everything, which is far more outrageous than not thinking we went to the moon. So I'd like to hear you guys talk about that first.
Drew
I don't agree with your conclusion that that means you have to believe in everything. But, yes. What is your favorite conspiracy theory? Appreciate it.
Matt Jones
Aliens. That's it. Just the fact that.
Drew
Is it your favorite because you believe it's true or because you want to believe it's true.
Matt Jones
I think they exist.
Drew
And you believe they exist? Like things with brains that fly around?
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Drew
And you think. And you think they've been to Earth?
Matt Jones
Yeah. Yeah, I do.
Drew
So you think there are aliens, Things with brains. Do you think they're green?
Matt Jones
I don't know. I don't think we need to discuss the race of the aliens.
Drew
But they exist. Okay. All right. I think that's ridiculous, but okay. What about you? What about you, Drew?
Caller 2
Nothing too crazy. I think they're like lizard people living amongst us. Like the Royal family, some politicians, some celebrities. Like they're lizards, reptiles.
Drew
You don't really believe. Yeah.
Caller 2
Denver Airport. I was just there. I'm telling you, stuff's going on at the Denver Airport. I had a. I got there two hours early just to look around and snoop. It's been under construction since before there was a Colorado. There's something going on in the Denver Airport.
Drew
I hope you all just realize how you sound. By the way, I do think the government covers things. No.
Caller 2
Aliens in the ocean, at the bottom of the ocean, at their surface.
Drew
You just have to stop. That's.
Caller 2
That was close into it.
Drew
I do think there are things the government covers up, without question. But that's different than them being supernatural or, you know, something crazy. I just. Well, we're about going down this. I like that Shannon genuinely believes there's aliens. We'll be right back.
Caller 1
TJ Smith, personal injury attorney. Call tj. He'll make him pay.
Matt Jones
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Drew
Welcome back Tucky Sports Radio. Raise a glass to the Cats Club Blue is the official NIL fundraising partner UK and they're going to have a special bourbon bottle signing with La Familia, the Kentucky alumni basketball team. That is next Thursday night at Bespoken Spirits and Gray line station. At 6pm the team will be out there. That includes Aaron Harrison, Andrew Harrison, Ansley Almanor, Archie Goodwin, DeAndre Liggins, Duron Lamb, Khalil Whitney and Willie Cauley Stein. Each purses purchase includes signatures from the team and every bottle purchase will support UK's nil efforts. It is the Club Blue collectible with La familia next Thursday, July 17th at 6:00pm it's game week, man.
Caller 1
Coming up. Yeah, they play first game is next.
Drew
Thursday, Friday, Friday the 18th. They play Friday, Sunday, Tuesday. That's right. Friday, Sunday, Tuesday. And the Friday game is on FS1. And then the Sunday game is on regular fox.
Caller 1
Is it really?
Drew
Yeah.
Caller 2
Gotta handle their business and get to Louisville. Gotta get back to that crappy town where they'll be throwing their fisticuffs again in that game next Thursday. Gotta handle business at home.
Drew
Next Thursday we'll have all those guys on. So it'll be a show of like.
Caller 1
All those former players, which was great fun last summer. Get to spend some time with each one of them. Kind of catch up a little bit. A lot of fun.
Drew
Did you see the Brandon garrison New Shannon McDonald's commercial? He's got an nil deal with McDonald's.
Matt Jones
No, I haven't seen this yet.
Drew
Speaking of eating.
Caller 1
Well.
Drew
Yeah, and it was filmed at the on campus McDonald's. Not the best McDonald's in the world. They maybe could have taken him to one of the other ones out a little bit. But good for Brandon Garrison getting a little McDonald's.
Caller 2
Get your money. Good national brand. I thought it his. His order was a little weak. Very small. I don't like that. I get like three times more than one of us. Spicy McChicken.
Drew
Yeah.
Caller 2
Fries and a McFlurry. I treat the McChicken as like one of my side items to my entree when I go to McDonald's.
Drew
Yeah, they were. They zoomed in on him chewing the food too, which I thought was. But good for him getting the nil deal there. There was a story yesterday from Ross Dallinger, which I recommend about how because of the way the calendar worked, the nil Clearinghouse is just overwhelmed with nil deals because everybody did all these right at the start. And that there. There's talk that there. Some schools have spent $50 million already and like it's. It's insane.
Caller 1
50 million since July 1st?
Drew
Well, since end of June.
Caller 1
Goodness.
Drew
Like because they're front loading guys for three and four years and they paid them all right up front. So like they had to, you know, who knows? I mean the whole. It's such a wild. It will calm itself down. But I think that. I think if you were a coach or an athletic director trying to navigate these last few months, it was an absolute blank show. Yeah.
Caller 1
You needed a staff just to keep up with it. I'm happy for Brandon, man. You know, I think he'll make a big jump this year, him and with Jaden Quadence, once he gets healthy, that could be really, really good duo to have down there.
Drew
Channing, there's a PGA tour event in Louisville.
Caller 1
Yeah.
Drew
So care.
Matt Jones
I'm not really a big golf fan. No, not really.
Drew
But I know her spawn.
Matt Jones
Yeah, they've been practicing.
Drew
I hope it doesn't rain on them again every year. Every year here it would just pour rain the entire tournament. Is it supposed to rain this weekend?
Caller 2
I haven't looked at the forecast because I'm not going. But I'll be tuned in. I'm dialed in. We got a little JB Holmes return. Our boy Teeter Saint X High School has five golfers in the field. That's pretty interesting.
Drew
Is that right?
Caller 2
Yeah, they had two Monday qualifiers like a sponsors exemption.
Drew
Well, her sport's a nice course. I hope it works out for that. I mean, we. I want to see one of these tournaments work in. In the city of Louisville.
Matt Jones
Chance of rain on Saturday and Sunday. Not a high percentage, but.
Drew
Well, hopefully they can get through some of it with.
Caller 2
Do you think the LMPD had a little meeting like, hey, guys, I know it's.
Drew
No, I'm sure Craig Greenberg was like, all right, here are the pictures. They're like, all right, you can arrest these guys. Nobody knows who they are. JB Holmes, let's just let him go through. Look, let's just let it. Let it happen.
Caller 2
There's a few big names if you've watched golf course Grillo.
Drew
Yeah, that's my friend Johnny's got manual.
Caller 2
Played well last week.
Drew
Yeah. Free Bird. Go ahead, Free Bird.
Caller 3
Hey, in honor of Ryan's conquest of the donuts on Friday, I sent Billy a video and I sent Ryan a video and YouTube matt of a guy eating a 13 pound hot cheeto burrito. And I'd like to know all six of you, what challenge could you all do something like that if you wouldn't and why not?
Drew
No, I would never do anything like that. I appreciate the call. I mean, food to me is to be enjoyed. I like, you know, I don't want. I don't want to. I'm not doing it. But, but, but I encourage Ryan to do it, even though it's doing it on his own free will.
Caller 1
If there was hot sauce involved, though, you'd be my pick of the six of us by far.
Drew
Well, I can eat hot stuff. I really like hot. Hot stuff that I'm now all in. No offense to my other one on a new Indian place that I think is. Well, the place I liked in Louisville shut down. Oh, the Doc Shin place. They've been there a long time, I think. I heard. I haven't seen. So slippery or no. Now the Everest here in Lexington.
Caller 2
Okay, I haven't tried that one yet.
Drew
It's Nepalese and Indian. That's the best one in Lexington.
Caller 1
I have an Ask anything question for you. They want me to ask you what is up with Ronnie Lott's pinky that you guys talked about on your ESPN show?
Drew
Oh, Ronnie Lott. According to Myron, former 49 or Ronnie Lott was in a game and rather than. And in order to play in the game, he had to have his pinky amputated. And he chose to have his pinky amputated rather than sit out during the game. I think it was like for the next week. So he heard his pinky and they were like, if you keep this pinky, it'll take months to rehabilitate. And according to Myron, he cut the pinky off instead so he could play the next week. That's what Myron said. Now, that may be false, but this was like we were doing. I think it was New Mexico day and I think he's from New Mexico. And Myron's New Mexico fact was that he cut his pinky off.
Caller 2
Goodness. What was his toughness score on the video game? 99.
Drew
I don't know if I believe this, by the way. Myron just. Myron just said it and I've not looked it up.
Caller 1
Nobody confirmed it or anything?
Drew
No. By the way, today on ESPN is Kentucky Day.
Caller 1
Oh, it is.
Drew
You know, they're doing 50 states in 50 days. Today is Kentucky. They're doing their shows from the Louisville Slug from here. Yeah, yeah. I'm actually going on a couple of the radio shows to talk about Kentucky tonight.
Caller 1
Very cool.
Drew
But yeah, they're doing Kentucky.
Caller 2
That's at six tonight.
Drew
From the first one from. Let's go to J.C. what's up, J.C.
Caller 3
Hey, guys, I don't know if I missed it or not, but have you heard of the doomsday cat cult in Columbia, Kentucky?
Drew
No, but I like it. What is.
Caller 3
Have you seen the. Have you seen the documentary?
Drew
There's a doomsday cat.
Caller 3
Cult. Yes, cat cult.
Drew
Oh, call. Okay. That's different than a cat.
Matt Jones
I think the culture.
Drew
Okay, so what is that? Quickly, what is a doomsday cult in Columbia?
Caller 3
That's an hour and a half documentary. I mean, it's bizarre. I think it started out in Utah, then they, you know, people became aware of it.
Drew
But when you say it's a documentary, where does one see it? Like, what is it?
Caller 3
Thank God. On Sling. You can Google it. Doomsday cat cult, Columbia, Kentucky. And it's. It's extremely interesting. And actually.
Drew
Well, tell me what's interesting. Tell me something, Pete. There's your.
Caller 3
Well, there's people that have. Anywhere from 20 to 30, 35 cats in their home. You know, there was the murder plot there. There's bizarre teaching, you know.
Caller 2
Okay, I've got your answer.
Drew
Okay, hang on. I appreciate the call. Drew's got it. Go ahead.
Caller 2
Shannon just said it. So it is on. And it is described as a charismatic religious leader manipulates her congregation through prophecies and cat centric beliefs, leading them down a destructive path.
Drew
In Columbia.
Caller 2
Yes, Adair, Kentucky.
Drew
So this is it. When Was this?
Caller 2
It's 2025. I don't have the exact.
Drew
So this has just happened.
Caller 2
At least the documentary just came out. I don't know when.
Drew
And it's about a cat cult in Columbia.
Caller 2
We all have homework. It's called the Doomsday Cat Cult.
Matt Jones
Spent a year of my life in Colombia.
Drew
Did you know about the cat cult?
Matt Jones
I don't know if it was going on back in 2002.
Caller 1
Judge Gabe is from there, right? You need to ask him what's going on.
Drew
So the. There's an Adair county cat cult.
Caller 2
Yep. Even apple.com has a story about it.
Drew
Wow. Well, during the break. During the break, give me some details because I, I, I, I, we go to. I've been to Columbia many, many times.
Caller 2
Bizarre rituals as homes overflow with cats. Her demands escalate and allegedly to murder, binding followers in a dark web of shattered lives and fanaticism.
Drew
In Columbia?
Caller 2
Yeah.
Drew
How many houses?
Caller 2
I don't know. But I know what I'm watching tonight.
Drew
Wow. All right. See, you just never know. 859-280-2287 we will take a break. Very backs case.

Caller 2
How'd this sneak past us?
Drew
I don't know.
Caller 2
Shannon lived there. I like documentaries like this. Ryan does, too.
Drew
Feels like we should have. Should have known that. All right, so just so you know, hopefully tonight we might have the thing for folks who are ready for Ryan to eat the donuts. That's going to be on Friday. And then we will sell the tickets probably tomorrow to the wings day, so. Or to the wings tasting. So a lot of stuff on the horizon. Are you. Are you going to do anything to prepare yourself the night before? Like, not eat?
Caller 1
I'm thinking about that. I was actually going to Google preparation for competition eating guy. Like, what do they do? Do they. They starve themselves the night before or they eat some pasta to try to jump start their metabolism? You know, what do they do?
Caller 2
I have the answer. I've been with someone who trains. You actually eat a lot to expand your stomach, but you do it far enough ahead of time that your stomach is empty when you actually do the challenge. So maybe early on tomorrow, get that belly big and then don't eat much late at night.
Drew
Okay. Yeah, that's one way to do it. Pete. Go ahead. Pete.
Caller 3
You were talking about South Africa. You were going over there.
Drew
Yes.
Caller 3
Yeah. Well, you watch yourself over there, Bell. It's. It's not the nicest place to be.
Drew
I. Well, you know what? There's a lot of places that aren't nice, Pete. Well, you're from, though, but you're not from South Africa, are you?
Caller 3
No, but I got ties to South Africa.
Drew
So you got. So you do go. So you like it?
Caller 3
No, I've actually never been. It's. No, I didn't say that. I just haven't been there. But, you know, just be careful. You know, you running around in your expensive shoes and sports gear and stuff, you know, you could lose your life for that.
Drew
Well, I will. I will wear. I will not wear expensive gear. But. But you. But, Pete, I mean, you're like me, though. You haven't been.
Caller 3
Oh, no, but, you know, we have traditional exposure to South Africa and South Africans. I know a lot of South Africans.
Drew
Okay.
Caller 3
Just the other thing before you go, if you get a chance to go to a rugby match, go.
Drew
All right, I will do it. I'd Love to. I've been to one in England, but I would love to. Well, thank you, Pete. Appreciate it. Nice to hear you. Nice to hear your voice.
Caller 3
Thank you. Bye.
Drew
Bye. I like Pete. Pete's a good. I like. You know, that's the. He's. He's. Is he an Aussie? Is that right?
Caller 1
I don't know. But he kind of scared me with the advice he gave you.
Drew
He's never been.
Matt Jones
Yeah. He doesn't know any more than we.
Drew
He doesn't know any more than we do. Just because he has an Australian accent does not mean that he knows more than we do about it.
Caller 1
I believed him.
Matt Jones
Apparently this cat thing's in Columbia, Tennessee. People are telling us, too.
Caller 2
Well, somebody wrote me that, but I looked it up. The Adair County, Kentucky newspaper wrote about it.
Matt Jones
So it is Kentucky.
Drew
Yeah. Okay.
Caller 1
So it's really quite a catastrophe.
Drew
Okay. Shut up, Ted. Go ahead, Ted.
Caller 3
First time.
Drew
Who are. What's up?
Caller 3
So where are you going in South Africa?
Drew
Cape Town, Johannesburg, and then to like, the Kruger National Reserve.
Caller 3
Oh, that'd be nice. I've been. I've been twice and just went back in May. I was with some guys there that. That are from there and just riding in the car, they said don't hold your cell phone up. You know, just like, don't. Don't they.
Drew
I understand. Yeah. That makes.
Caller 3
Stop at a stoplight, somebody will come and break through the window and grab your phone and take off running.
Matt Jones
Sounds like a horror movie.
Drew
Yeah.
Caller 3
Yeah. But.
Drew
But you win. You're back.
Caller 3
Yeah.
Drew
Yes. And so am I. I'm good. I'm not just going on my own. And what? Like, like there's a whole group of people and we have low. Like, literally. Desmond Tutu's daughter is one of the people leading our group.
Caller 3
Well, just, Just stay with someone. Don't be out on by yourself and.
Drew
Okay, well, I won't be by myself. I appreciate the call. Thank you very much.
Caller 2
U.S. department of State website says you're fine. Says have some increased costs.
Drew
I mean, like, Johannesburg is a very dangerous city, but it is like a lot of cities. What's the danger is in the drug trade and in things that I'm not going to be doing.
Matt Jones
Yeah, don't be trying to buy drugs.
Drew
I'm not going. I'm not going over there to traffic drugs. I just want. I'm just going for my conference and I want to see a giraffe. Those are the two things that I'm hoping to accomplish.
Caller 2
The State Department gives tips. You want a Tip?
Drew
What? What's the tip?
Caller 2
Do not display signs of wealth such as expensive watches or jewelry.
Drew
I have no expensive hoodie.
Caller 2
You have on in that hat. I think you're good.
Drew
These are fine. I do not. I, I, I, I thought about buying watch, but then I realized I had a phone.
Caller 2
And it also says avoid visiting informal settlements. So whatever informal settlements you were going.
Drew
To visit, all my settlements are going to be formal.
Caller 2
Okay.
Drew
I have no interest in an informal settlement.
Caller 2
It also recommends an evacuation plan that does not rely on the US Government.
Drew
Okay, now that one's going to be a little harder. I don't know what is my evacuation plan without the US Government?
Matt Jones
Get a personal helicopter or a plane.
Drew
Johnny Versace. Go ahead.
Caller 3
Hey, man, speaking of cults, can you explain to me the motivation and just really the inertia around having a Tom Jurich way in the city of Louisville?
Drew
I was very surprised by their decision to do that. I mean, for a variety of reasons. You know, here's what I think it is, though. If you want to know the actual reason and not just a joke. There are a handful of very big donors who have not donated to U of L Sports since Tom George left. They are people who are Tom George loyalists. They are still friends with Tom George, one of whom is very, very close to the business community, one of whom I think may have even at one point been the biggest UofL donor. They are trying to sort of unify the Louisville world for the next generation of U of L sports, this Jeff Brahm generation, etc. And I think the thought was if we do this, it's a way to extend the olive branch to Tom Jurich and to get all of our donors back on the same page. I think that was the mindset.
Caller 3
That'S a reasonable explanation. But it just, it, it seems to me that, you know, they hate Rick Patino off and on, like depending on.
Drew
There's a lot of fans that didn't want to do it, but that's why they did it. I mean, to be honest with you, Johnny, I mean, I can. That is why they did it. So, you know, I appreciate the call. They, they, they're trying to get on the. Jeff Brahm, I think, was one of the big ones. Let's get everybody. Let's might be one Louisville again. Cause they haven't really been that in the last 10 years. And I think that was the motivation to do it. Tell me about Stockton Mortgage.
Caller 1
Stockton Mortgage. You know, they're big, they're growing. They're all across the state, and they can help you get to the closing table. Stockton Mortgage. Not just any other mortgage company. They're built for people who want to do things the right way. Or at your first home or your fifth home. They bring clarity and care to every loan. And this is the most important thing. You don't need to figure it all out alone. Stockton Mortgage will do it for you. They'll hold your hand, walk you through the process, start to finish, with tools, options, and real people ready to help and make it less. Where do I start?
Caller 2
And more.
Caller 1
Let's go. Dr. Morgan, NMLS, a 259 equal housing lender.
Drew
Shannon, let's you and I get together over the next couple weeks and let's work on my informal evacuation.
Caller 2
Okay?
Matt Jones
Yeah, I've got you.
Drew
All right. Because we're going to need that doesn't rely on the US Government.
Caller 2
Can I bring them in?
Drew
So who. So we got to figure out. Who else are we going to talk to? Do you know other people that are big on evacuations from South Africa? Not with the U.S. government, no.
Matt Jones
But I'll do some digging and we'll have a game plan for you.
Caller 2
And stop looking so wealthy. You're gonna get yourself killed down there. Looking so wealthy at home.
Drew
Yeah, that's right. I'm gonna take Ryan's phone. Take an Android. Nobody want to take that brick. No one has any interest in taking the Android. We will be back tomorrow. This has been Kentucky Sports Radio.
