When I left, we were two and a half back of the wild card. When I come back, we're two and a half back. It's been a rocky time. Yeah, we near. We lost once to the Rockies, but then we came back, won the series against the Mets. I was at the game Friday night.

Yes, I went to the game Friday night, cheered them on. They almost blew it. They were up 8 to 2, but almost blew it. But it's fun to watch the Mets fans, they boo their players so quickly. Like they make one mistake and they're like. Which makes it a lot better because they're just all like, I enjoyed the All Star Game. Did you watch the All Star Game?

I think it was great for baseball.

That was odd because I was like, oh. When they announced what it was going to be, I was like, oh, you're going to get Shohei and Aaron Judge. Nope. And it's going to be awesome. And then they were like, well, they left.

It's not often you get a highly competitive game and people in it just leave. Got a dinner reservation.

But it was great. I. I mean, I don't. Shannon. I wouldn't want them to do that for the regular season.

But I think for the All Star Game, that was kind of awesome.

Yeah. For the All Star Game, I mean, the alternative would be just in the game in a tie. That right there is a lot more entertaining. So I like it. For the All Star Game, I loved it.

I thought it was awesome. I thought it was very cool.

Well, for the All Star Game, you gotta. Baseball. Gotta do something to generate some interest. Perfect time to do something like that. Have a home run derby. Swing off, man.

You have to admit, I didn't know that was a rule. And they're.

I didn't either.

Bringing out the batting cages. Yeah, we're just gonna have a home run derby right here in the middle of the game.

Pressure. You only get three swings and you got to knock it out.

And then, you know, Shannon the wall or you drew as well. We get Reds and Braves at the Bristol Motor Speedway a week from Saturday.

Heck yeah. Braves are still not very good. But did you see our boy Ronald Acuna over the weekend?

Amazing throw. That was unbelievable.

Marty and McGee are going to be there. We were talking about it. So I. I probably could even get press credits would be cool. So I will see. But anyway, Reds are still in it.

Braves are not really in it. But it'll be good to get some excitement behind our two teams when the.

Season still summer of Alien Nick Ladolo and there's only a couple players I hate. So everything's going good.

If Sonny Green had stayed healthy.

Sunny Gray has been on the team for like three years. Oh, good old Sonny Green. Sounds like a comedian from the 50s. Sonny Green. But. But yeah, the all star Game. All that was fun. I. That's more of that than I've watched in a long time. Will Levis. Drew is going to be out for the year. He's going to have surgery on his shoulder. Will be out for the year. Bummer for Will Levis. Odd that he's announcing it now. Are you? But like out for the year is Will. Will love his play in the NFL again, hot take.

I think this will be good for his value.

[Shannon The Dude]

Okay.

[Drew Franklin]

I think if he had played at all, especially if he has a lingering issue, it just would have been bad. The Titans are so bad. The line still stinks. It's mostly like Cam Ward. I think he's put in a bad spot. I think if Levis takes a year off, gets his shoulder healthy, it might be his best chance a year from now to still have hope. So I'm taking kind of the counterpoint that the Titan sucks so much that him taking a year off will help him.

[Shannon The Dude]

It's a very much like now Couch had more success than Will, but it's a similar thing. Ryan that happened to Couch, hurt his shoulder, had to sit out a year, then has to come back. And do you think Will Levis will play again?

[Matt Jones]

I think Drew hit it. I think this year off may help him because if he tries to play, gets beat up again, has another bad year, his stock is going to continue to go down. Why not take a year off, get healthy and come back stronger next year with somebody else.

[Shannon The Dude]

Yeah, I hope so. I hope so for him. I want it to work out for.

[Drew Franklin]

Him, but he's never had a fair shot. Die hard Titans fan here, they put him in a horrible spot.

It is a shame that our two big quarterbacks of the last 25 years went to the NFL to just terrible.

Situation and somehow Tim got still got the Browns to the playoffs.

That's what he did.

It's amazing he was able to do that on that horrible team they had.

Well, I hope he ends up. I hope he gets and I hope it works out for him. But I was surprised. I mean he didn't have surgery in the entire off season and now waiting to do it right now seems like a really odd thing to me.

The timing is suspect. You had all these months to get it ready and try to salvage a little bit of a season. Might even mean that he's kind of taken my angle and really thinking it could help him.

For reasons that I'll talk more about in a few weeks, I'm having Shannon actually know the NFL this year.

A lot of teams. You know, I mean I know I've hosted an NFL show for seven or eight years, but I'm gonna actually kind of have to know some stuff this year and.

Yeah, like, like the Starters on. On both sides of the ball.

Yeah, I'm not gonna know that.

Yeah.

But I'm gonna need to know more than the quarterback, the coach and like one guy. I'm going to need to know more than that.

Are you the new south pal at ESPN now or something?

We're not going to talk. I've just got something cooking and I just. I had to spend some of this break learning the NFL players. You had ever told me that the NFL would be what I would do. I didn't even used to watch it. I did not even care about it at all. Well, they know.

[Drew Franklin]

He said in the interview.

Well, you. I did. That was one of my selling points.

You're like a blank camera. They can mold you.

And he knows that he's going to get. He's going to get his nation. We're a nation. We're a family. There's not another team in this tournament that can wear that name at. And you don't need to have anything about Kentucky in that name for everybody to know who that is. The family. It's dudes have played here and dudes that never got to play here but wanted to. It's the family, dude. You want to play for their home. And I'm telling you, Matt, as far as I'm concerned, you can keep it while familiar or you can switch it to English and call it the family. But you don't dare lose that family.

Okay, I like that. That's a good case, Mark. That's a good case.

Okay. And brother, between you and me, when tucky mad 5th graders are coming with that brother, can't you do a little better?

She doesn't like blue Kentucky either then, huh?

Yeah, Blue Kentucky didn't like that one either. I will say, you know, you see this, One of the things I like about the TBT and watching these games is I do li. I do love the way Kentucky embraces.

Oh yeah, this.

[Shannon The Dude]

And you know, to be fair to them, Louisville does the same thing. I mean, these two, these two school. The way Kentucky and Louisville use this event to connect with their alumni, it's just awesome to me. I mean, Montres Harold takes a private jet to make sure he gets back to game. That's cool. It just is. That is a cool thing that he was willing to do that. All these UK guys and then watching the current team celebrating with the past guys on the floor. Drew, that's. That's awesome to me. I mean, I watched Ortega away. I guess it was with Daron Lamb and they were like dapping it up after the game. How can you not love that if you're a Kentucky fan?

[Drew Franklin]

That's the best part in all this. The current team was at both games in the crowd, as you said, celebrating with them afterwards. Sean woods, in his interview, he's talking about the game and the close call they had, but he also talked about how important it is and how fun is that these guys get to be Kentucky basketball players again. I mean, you're Kentucky basketball player forever, but they're coming back and actually playing in front of fans and doing these events. And as we've mentioned, guys like Archie and Khalil, it's. It's good reset for them, but it's also just good for Willie to have that moment too. And these other Harrisons, guys that are at the end of their pro careers.

[Shannon The Dude]

If you were to ask me, give me three of the five UK players that I think were the fans were the hardest on during the Cal era, I would say to you, Archie, yes. Andrew Harrison.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah.

[Shannon The Dude]

Khalil Whitney and then probably like Ryan Harrow and Devin Askew and maybe Severe Wheeler, common denominator, by the way, all guards. Cal put so much pressure on the guards that if they didn't play. But I don't know that we'll ever get that moment with Devin Askew or, or Ryan Harrow. Maybe we get it with Severe Wheeler one day we'll see. But those other three, it's nice that they still come back and they get to have these moments.

[Matt Jones]

And that's what they were. They, when they sat down with us, they all three kind of said that, man, we want to come back and feel the love maybe some that we missed out a little bit when we were here first time. Come back. We, the twins said they want to come back for a second year. Willie comes back for a second year because of that love they felt from the fan base, not for the basketball, from the fans. That's why they came back.

Yeah, guys, I was just going to talk about La Familia there. I watched the, the third quarter, the last of the game and the funniest thing for me, the best thing, I thought it was really great I agree with you all about like guys playing for the YMCA playing, but at the end of the game there was a issue with the. There was a call on the court and the referees got together on the sidelines with the coaches were right beside of them. And the Auburn coach goes, you can't do that to my guys. I know it's Kentucky and they paid you, but you still can't do that to my guys.

Oh, did he say and I paid and they paid you? I didn't hear that. That's funny.

Yeah, it was the funniest thing I heard. I about fell out in the floor laughing. I was like, oh my gosh, that's the greatest thing ever. And that's what I like about it is because it's just like regular dad's playing ball.

[Shannon The Dude]

It is. I appreciate the call. I didn't hear that. I love listening to the refs be miked up because they didn't know the rules. Like they were sitting there arguing about the 10 second violation and it was clear no one knew what exactly. I don't know where they got those referees, but they probably ought to stay in that division. Whatever it was.

[Drew Franklin]

I'm trying to remember the exact quote, but they caught a great moment of Sean woods argument the ref and he's like, I'm on you. I'm on you don't even know what you're doing. You don't even know the rule.

He was right. They didn't know.

[Drew Franklin]

He's like, I caught you. But I've enjoyed that. I'm surprised we didn't get saltier language with the coaches miked up. But it's fun hearing them go back and forth with the refs.

So I'll do that. But it's a long time. I'm dreading the flight. I'm looking forward to the trip, but I'm. I'm dreading the flight. 15 hours and I saw the itinerary of what we're doing. We're going scuba diving. That's gonna be a problem for me.

But like, Mexico in rural Mexico is a different world. This is going to be a different world. So I'm looking forward to that. I'm very much not looking forward to the flights. Just. I don't like to fly and then that long. It's just a long time.

Like, down the stretch when they needed to be. If they had Jesser, would he have even gotten in? I guess he might have gotten in. In that first.

Yeah, so I heard. I didn't get to watch the first game. I heard the team we played was not good.

[Drew Franklin]

First of all, if you want to talk about the first game, we heard audio that would have made KSR sound like it was, you know, perfectly produced. That was the worst audio. I thought Ryan had met Robbie Hummel in the parking lot with our equipment for that first game.

[Shannon The Dude]

Did you watch and hear that?

[Drew Franklin]

It was, like, popping and staticky. They eventually turned it off and just didn't have sound while they played for a little while.

[Shannon The Dude]

Oh, really?

[Drew Franklin]

So it's not just us.

[Ryan Lemond]

That was an improvement. I didn't have a sound at all. It was actually better.

[Shannon The Dude]

Yeah. Who was. Who did we play? Who? Stroh's squad.

I don't even know who they were. I have no idea. I heard by 53 points, whatever it was.

Yeah, I had the under. I even encouraged it last week.

Third quarter killed us. We scored 12 points in, like, 17 seconds. When stro squad just quit playing, it was like, just lay up, layup, layup. And destroyed us. They. They had no business being on the same floor. A lot of them from Ohio, So parts of Ohio.

Jesser would have got in that game for sure.

[Drew Franklin]

Jesse would have played a lot.

I think there was some contract scheduling issues.

Hey, Matt. First of all, the guys did a great job last week with you out of town and always love when Ryan is running things around there. You never know what he's going to say. So it keeps us all on our edge. Secondly, went to South Africa two years ago on a hunting safari. My wife and I and her brother and his wife had an amazing time. 16 hour flight from to Johannesburg, from Atlanta and it wasn't bad. Like you said, you get up, you walk around. But I'd say you did the right thing by spending extra money on the pod to lay out flat. We did not have that. And I'm six three so I had to do a lot of walking around. But overall it was an amazing trip and an amazing country to go visit.

[Shannon The Dude]

You know, I think it's a fair question. I appreciate the call. I mean, in years past, they didn't blitz because I think, Ryan, they thought that they could hold up against a lot of these teams, but in recent years, maybe we should have done it a little bit more.

That seems to be the one complaint on a Brad White defense that they don't blitz enough. And I need guys like Freddie to explain it to me, because I don't know the answer to that.

Yeah, I think it used to be that they felt like they were solid enough that they could not blitz. And I think some years they have been, but in the last couple of years, that's not been the case.

[Drew Franklin]

Now that's Brad White's defense. He likes to give a cushion, keep everything in front of him and just try to not get beat deep and hope you don't get nickel and dime down the field which we've seen many times.
