Ryan Limit what happened to the summer? August is coming up this week. It's amazing that media day and fall camp starts in a week.

See, I feel like the summer's long because this is the first summer I've been, I've been here the whole time because usually basically off in June, but because I took the time in April and in September, I've been here all summer. And summer's long. So it's a long summer. Especially, you know, when you're sitting there going, all right, what's there to talk about today? And you just look at blank pages, you go, all right, we're going to create a show out of this. But, but yeah, I've enjoyed it.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah, me too. Is a fast moving summer. But it does feel like that first kickoff is just right around the corner. I know it's still July, but I feel like we're already in August. It feels like it's just right in front of us.

[Matt Jones]

This is supposed to be like insanely hot day across America. Like they canceled the horse races at Ellis Park. They said it was too hot for horses.

[Ryan Lemond]

Yeah.

[Matt Jones]

I think the heat index in parts of western Kentucky is supposed to get to like 108 to 110 today.

[Ryan Lemond]

It's been, it's been hot for a couple days and I guess today's kind of the yesterday.

[Matt Jones]

I felt like when I got Outside, you know, I do the Sunday morning show and then I walked outside to walk to Chipotle for lunch in Louisville and. And I felt like I was stepping into a furnace. It was the hottest. And that walking with this yesterday was not.

[Shannon The Dude]

Did you wear a hoodie while you were walking? Because I feel like you still wear the hoodie even in the summer.

[Matt Jones]

Now I wear the T shirt like hoodie, like the hooded T shirt. Which is. Which is okay. But still it's not. It's just. I mean, I think I could walk naked and it would still be hot. It's just so hot outside.

[Drew Franklin]

I mowed my yard and it's not even a big yard, but it was 95 when I started and I didn't think I could get through the. I was absolutely.

[Matt Jones]

So like a neighborhood kid.

[Drew Franklin]

I enjoy mowing. I actually look.

[Matt Jones]

That's right, you do.

[Drew Franklin]

Now if I had a big yard, then it's an income about an hour and a half. Get my post mo beer. It's a. It's a whole event.

Well, good. Well, in terms of sports this weekend, to two major things. First of all, the summer of Ellie has officially clicked in. We wondered when it was going to happen.

[Ryan Lemond]

Now it's going to.

[Matt Jones]

It's clicked. All right. So they. They beat the. The Rays swept them.

[Ryan Lemond]

Swept them.

[Matt Jones]

Billy's Rays got swept. Both teams came in with the same record. Both teams were 53 and 50. Both teams trying to decide, do you go for it.

[Ryan Lemond]

Yeah.

[Matt Jones]

At the trade deadline or do you sell? And really that weekend may have decided because I think the Reds are going and I think the Rays are selling. And it was exciting, man. I mean, I went to the game Friday. The crowds are starting. I mean, yesterday crowd wasn't great, but the crowd Friday was huge crowd. Saturday was huge. Friday in Cincinnati was. So they had like a music festival going on at the same time. Oh. So there was like 60,000 people at the football stadium, at the music festival, and then there was 40,000 people at the baseball stadium. And you want to talk about just people everywhere, but Ellie gets a bases loaded hit. I go crazy. KSR fans everywhere, by the way.

[Ryan Lemond]

Yeah.

[Matt Jones]

Saturday win yesterday. The Reds probably didn't even deserve to win and they won. So I'm starting to feel it now. They do have the Dodgers this week, which is going to be probably a hit to reality. But you know, Drew, are you feeling the excitement? Are you starting to. You starting to want to join the train? I know you forget this is Braves week too, but you are out of it. You don't have a chance not join the fun. I'll let you have it.

[Drew Franklin]

But I will say I didn't keep up with each game as it was happening. But last night when I looked up and saw that there are 56 and 50, I was like, oh, okay. Okay, Red. Maybe there's something here.

[Matt Jones]

Highest record.

[Drew Franklin]

What are they like one back in.

[Matt Jones]

Wild card, one back of the stupid Padres. Who names the team Padres? That's Father San Diego fathers. What a stupid name.

[Shannon The Dude]

They're your daddy.

[Matt Jones]

You shut up. So. So now, yeah, they play the Dodgers, but they got to get all their good guys there. Shohei is pitching Wednesday. I'm gonna go.

[Ryan Lemond]

Oh, you gotta go.

[Matt Jones]

I've never seen him pitch. I've seen him hit, but I've never seen him pitch. So I feel like you gotta go. And we're pitching like our worst pitcher, so we're probably gonna lose that game. But I still want to go to say I saw Shohei will definitely have.

[Drew Franklin]

Money on that game.

[Matt Jones]

You think so?

[Drew Franklin]

Oh, yeah.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah. So are you getting excited? I know you listen to the games a lot.

[Ryan Lemond]

I do like to listen to the games.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah.

But even if they don't do against the Dodgers. You swept the Rays got a chance to maybe sweep Braves.

[Matt Jones]

Well, we'll see. They play one of those games up at the racetrack. Yeah.

[Ryan Lemond]

The field looks awesome. Those aerial photos of the field.

[Matt Jones]

Are you going to go thinking about it? I'm thinking about. I'm going to decide midweek decision. Why not? Why 65,000 people. They're expecting to be there.

[Ryan Lemond]

Yeah.

[Matt Jones]

So they still have the. They're putting it in the track. They're also going to have in the pre race, they're going to have cars driving around. Around it.

[Drew Franklin]

I didn't know that part.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah.

[Drew Franklin]

It's gonna be kind of critical. I mean, are you looking. I know you that your team's not good, Shannon, but are you looking forward to seeing that at the racetrack?

[Shannon The Dude]

I think it's cool. I mean they do it well. How many years they've been doing this now? A couple of years.

[Matt Jones]

They've never done it at Bristol, but they did something. I guess it was the Tennessee Virginia Tech football game here about eight years ago, but they've never had a baseball game.

[Shannon The Dude]

Yeah, I'm still watching it. Still looking forward to it. And the Braves can play spoiler to your Reds wild card hopes. But yeah, it should be fun.

[Matt Jones]

Let's see who are we going to be pitching in that game? You got. Yeah. Vertebra Brewer, Singer. So it's going to be whoever pitches tonight. So we're going to have Chase Burton, they're going to have Chase Burns pitching.

[Ryan Lemond]

Well, that's.

[Matt Jones]

So that is all the Fox people are going to love that. They're going to get Chase Burns and how about just for a second, how about you are a rookie and here's how you've started your career. Yankees at Red Sox. Okay. At Mets. Then he had a game against the Nationals, home against the Dodgers. National TV on the Bristol game. That is a tough way to start your career, isn't it?

[Ryan Lemond]

Yeah, that's a heck of a. You know, you try to tiptoe in. Usually they kind of let you start a little easy.

[Matt Jones]

Like the hardest run to. To start a career ever. So the Reds are on fire. I'm wearing Reds gear.

[Ryan Lemond]

You got your hat.

[Matt Jones]

You got a hat and a hoodie. How can you be excited? Now? The second thing that happened this weekend is the Lexington Sea game against Louisville. Heartbreaking loss for people who didn't see it. Game was tied for 89 minutes at zero. Then Lexington scores. It looks like it's going to be a storybook win.

[Ryan Lemond]

Yeah.

[Matt Jones]

Packed house, beating your Commonwealth cup brethren. Who's in first place? And then Louisville scores two goals in the last in extra time. I liked my text machine, which had a lot of people that don't know the rules of soccer that thought they cheated to put extra time on for Louisville. I had two people write me and go, it's supposed to be over at 90 minutes. And I was like, well, that's not exactly how it works. You were there, I was there. Was it. Was it sad?

[Drew Franklin]

It was very sad. It was a lot of fun. For 89 minutes, Louisville looked like the better team throughout most of it. I was rooting for a draw. I even bet on a draw. Like, a draw would have been a.

[Matt Jones]

Win for me, but.

[Drew Franklin]

But then Lexington scores in the 88th, 89th, whatever it was. And we are losing our minds thinking that they're going to be Louisville. First time Louisville's played there. Biggest match in history. We're thinking we're going to win one. Oh, and then before you could even, like, react or blink, Louisville ties up and like, okay, well, back to the draw. And then they immediately score again. Both times. I don't know the exact minutes, but call it 91st, 93rd, something like that. It was just two instant goals to steal it when. When Lexington had scored, I looked down and they've already got the Mayor getting ready on the field. Presentation of the trophy. Everybody is counting this as a win around me. And then Louisville just completely flips the.

[Matt Jones]

Script in a matter of seconds. Cheaters. Louisville, they. I didn't see what they did, but I had to have been absolutely cheating. Oh, certainly cheating.

[Drew Franklin]

Steroids.

[Matt Jones]

The steroids, like you would think in. In this level of soccer, they wouldn't take. But steroids, betting, hgh, vote buying. I mean, there was all kinds of gerrymandering. They gerrymander.

[Drew Franklin]

They gerrymandered a stadium.

[Matt Jones]

You would not think you could gerryman. And then they did. Now, let's talk about the other stuff. Packed house, right? Packed, packed, sold out.

[Ryan Lemond]

Awesome crowd.

[Matt Jones]

Ortega O Way was there. I heard the line to get a signature from him was all the way to Tate's creek row.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah.

[Matt Jones]

Is that right?

[Ryan Lemond]

I think that's very accurate. Yes.

[Matt Jones]

So that's.

[Drew Franklin]

I had a fun O Way moment. He was on the field, and I was trying to get a picture, and I couldn't get a good, good one. I said, I'm gonna yell his name. And Abby's like, don't. Don't be weird. I yelled, oh, way. And he turned and gave me a double peace sign. So I got to pat myself on the picture.

[Matt Jones]

You took a picture?

[Drew Franklin]

You were there after? I was told not to do it.

[Matt Jones]

Well, you are twice as.

[Drew Franklin]

I did it anyway.

[Matt Jones]

You are twice as age. Yeah.

[Drew Franklin]

And I was very far away, but I needed to be. I'm a reporter. I needed a good photo.

[Matt Jones]

And he turned a good photo. I saw it. I thought that was a good photo.

[Drew Franklin]

I was told not to do it. I went through it anyway.

[Matt Jones]

We do have to say, though, and again, I didn't see it, but apparently, I think it's fair to say traffic issues.

[Drew Franklin]

Not good.

[Matt Jones]

Like, I had a friend of mine write me from the road going, this is a disaster. Oh, tell me what happened.

[Drew Franklin]

We had four people, and I wanted to go early and tell gate. So we got there a little after 5. By about 5:45, we looked up and we could see the chaos already forming an hour behind the match. Just the line coming in was bad. Had some friends on Richmond Road saying it was already getting bad.

[Matt Jones]

What happened? Because, I mean, I had a full house before. How was this one managed so much poor.

[Drew Franklin]

I heard Richmond Road was terrible. Then I guess they. I don't know if they ran out of parking, but then there was a shuttle somewhere that you would get on that people weren't planning on. A guy I knew walked in with like 25 minutes left in the whole night, but if you weren't there by six, you probably faced a severe delay. Even in the second half, when I'm walking around, like, the concourse area, you could see a lot of people still scanning in in the second half.

[Matt Jones]

Well, I had a friend go who wrote me and said this. Just get ready for the text machine to blow up. And then it did at night of people saying to me that. Which is a shame. You know, it's tough because, I mean, I'm sure it's hard to plan for the major crowd, but you get that moment. But they've also had a full crowd before, so I don't know why it.

[Ryan Lemond]

Was so bad they had a crowd this big. Like, was there. You said a crowd before?

[Matt Jones]

I think they've been full once. Maybe it was just everybody arriving so early. Maybe that's what it was. Because I think there was, like, going to be a big celebration. People were treating it like football and tailgating.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah, there's a lot of tailgating out there. I'm glad I went early. I wasn't even sure I was going to go that early, but I'm glad I did because if not, I don't know, know when we would have gotten in. And a few weeks ago, they had a big match and there was, like, food and logistical line issues. I didn't see as much as that Saturday, but it could have been because people were still outside the stadium. So they. I think they figured out their food and beer lines from a few weeks ago, but the traffic was a nightmare.

[Matt Jones]

Let me ask you this. If you took that aside and you went to that event, does it look like something when you go, this can work?

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah. They're going to need to get more support. And it's still year one, and a lot of the crowd were Louisville people coming in. I think the Lexington crowd still has a ways to go, but I've been twice and had a blast both times. It really is an awesome venue out there with a lot of fun. You don't even have to like soccer. There's so much to do, so I hope it works out. But things like what happened Saturday, they'll have to figure out new plans for their next big match.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah, I think that makes sense. I would. I mean, I have said to them that, you know, they've advertised on the show. I'd love to. I. I mean, I went to them before the team even started and said, you know, I'd love to be a part of this. Right. Like, I'd like to figure out a way to, you know, help you guys. And to also. Not just with advertising, but to somehow be a part. And we talked about it and it just didn't. This was three, four years ago when it first got announced. Just didn't happen. But. But I want it to succeed. I mean, I think for Lexington, I think it's important to have something succeed here that is not just UK related. I've always believed that and I'd love to see it succeed. They got to get through these growing pains obviously for that to happen.

[Ryan Lemond]

I guess that's what's kind of like disappointing the Lexus Sprinkler. They needed an event like this to kind of showcase everything.

[Matt Jones]

I mean, it works. Yeah, it works in that Louisville has a lot more people than we do, but it works there.

[Drew Franklin]

So they've got a good base. I've noticed just driving around town, there's a lot of Lexington SC stickers. I see people out, not even on game days wearing the gear they have people catching on. It's just needs time to grow.

[Matt Jones]

Well, hopefully that'll be able to keep happening. And the Summer Valley, I mean that's part of. It's a distraction of the summer.

[Drew Franklin]

Had to be.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah. I mean a lot of people are like, oh, Summer Valley, we need a trade. That's what we need. Well, we need to go get one bat and one middle reliever. I'm all in on Yachty Diaz. Okay. For, for, for Shannon for the Rays. Yeah, Go trade all of our players that stink and go get him. That feels like a fair trade. We get rid of the people I don't like.

[Drew Franklin]

He could have just stayed in town.

[Matt Jones]

Exactly. They should have done it yesterday. He wouldn't have even had to get another flight.

[Shannon The Dude]

The Braves are going to be sellers. They're meeting up this weekend.

I think Linda Gordon does a pretty good job. I mean, I still think they Got it. We. This is gonna be my city, you know, my domestic city thing. We got to do something about the homelessness thing. Like. Like, they. I. You know, just from. As a humanitarian, but also, like, it's everywhere, and you go to Louisville, and it's a lot better. So I don't know what happened. I really don't. And I'm not. It's gotten significantly worse in, like, the last three or four weeks. And I don't know. You know, the city's got to do something. I'm not saying it's an easy situation. I don't think it is. If so, like, it would have been solved everywhere. But, like, go talk to Craig and Louisville. It's a lot better in Louisville, and it was much worse in Louisville for a long time. So. But. So put that to the side. That's one issue. But the traffic in this city, I don't blame. It's just always been like this. But how do you have a big event and then have construction on Richmond Road? The only way to get. Like, how do you do that?

[Drew Franklin]

I don't know. I really don't.

Are there traffic czars like Shannon? Is there someone whose sole job is traffic? There should be, because there should be.

[Shannon The Dude]

Yeah.

[Matt Jones]

Especially in this city, because it's. The traffic in this city is. You know, I go to New York a lot. Traffic in New York is bad, but it's planable. You know where it's going to be, right? Like, you know, stay away from 34th Street. Right. The tunnels getting in and out are going to be hard. In Lexington, traffic can hit you at any minute from any place, any place. And there's no rhyme or reason where you just will be like, I'm driving down the road. Okay. Newtown pike is back to Paris at this point, right? Oh, I'm driving down the road. Richmond Road. There is a guerrilla match in the middle of this. Like, it is always terrible, and you never know where it's going to hit you. How is it not better after all of these years? I don't know.

[Drew Franklin]

That's why I was just talking about this with my mom yesterday. I was showing her. I use ways to go pretty much anywhere in Lexington, Places I go weekly. Just because I never know what could be between me and where I'm going. It could be a detour I need. So I use ways to go to the grocery store, even though I know exactly where the grocery store.

[Matt Jones]

I mean, last night, all of downtown was one lane. All of it. Like, the whole, like, literally, if you want to Be downtown. There was one lane and they were paving roads and actually I'd prefer them do that on a Sunday night.

[Ryan Lemond]

Yes.

[Matt Jones]

Like I. I'd rather you do that than during the week. But I was just driving around one way streets. I couldn't get anywhere. Everything was closed off. You know I just. I hope there's somebody in charge of traffic in Lexington and then I hope they replace that person with someone else. Shannon. Because they don't do a good job.

[Shannon The Dude]

I thought that was like a branch of the police department where you have like traffic and that's maybe there is what they do.

[Matt Jones]

Is there a person that that's their job.

[Ryan Lemond]

I would think there is. Yeah.

Can we move them to be in charge of florists?

[Ryan Lemond]

Well, possible.

Just something else. The thing about there has to be someone who can do it better than we do it right now.

Especially like the Lexington soccer club match. It's not like that just sprung up on them like a thunderstorm. It's been planned for months and there's.

Only one way out there.

One way out, one way back.

Like you. You got to make sure you don't that day.

There are some areas of Lexington that have had barrels in the same spot since I moved here 20 something years ago.

I'm not exactly sure how I got off on that but. All right. On Friday I had on my Interrupted by Matt Jones podcast. Matt Norland. Okay. Really good episode. I think we had two of our best episodes last week with Tommy Vitor and Matt Norlander. If you haven't yet, subscribe to Interrupted by Matt Jones. Give it a Nice rating. It's rising on the. On the chart like we. Every episode gets more downloaded than last. But Matt Norlander was all college basketball. People say, matt, you talk about politics. This is a college basketball one. If you want more of these things, you got to listen to him. He was talking about Kentucky's roster, and he said that he thinks Kentucky's roster this year costs conservatively 15 to 16 million dollars or all the way up to potentially 20 million. Now he makes the point that the people that played this year will get more money than anyone's got going to get in the next 10 years because they got double paid. Yeah, they got the rev share and the nil. Basically. He was like, if you're in college basketball this year, thank your lucky stars. This was the year to be in college basketball. Which was interesting. But let's say he's right, that it's 15 to 16 million dollars up to 20. Does it make you put more pressure on Kentucky based on how much money they're being paid, or do you not care?

[Drew Franklin]

I pretty much don't care. But as far as grading Pope and how he's doing overall, I do keep in the back of my brain that he's taken well care of with Nil and that he shouldn't have any problems building a roster. But, you know, when we get to February and they're at whatever, Auburn on a Saturday night, no part of me, zero. Part of me will think about money and Nil and what's going on with their bank accounts.

[Matt Jones]

What do you think, Ryan? I mean, is there a. When you're grading Pope at the end of the season, or any coach should, how much money they're like, do you say, okay, this is an elite, a Sweet 16 team, but considering the money, it should have been a final four.

[Ryan Lemond]

Team for UK basketball, I probably don't think that way unless the number was bigger, like 30,000. 30 million. 30,000, yeah, 30 million or something like that. That's when I would probably think, come on, man, you spend all this money, you got to win more games. But for 12. 12, 15 million with 12 players. A million or so. A player, I think, yeah, man, go for it.

[Matt Jones]

What if I tell you it's the third highest in the country, which should be.

[Ryan Lemond]

Should be the.

The high, but that doesn't mean you expect them to be the third best team in the country.

No, I like. I'm kind of drew on that. You know, the UK basketball, they're going to take care of itself once the game starts. I'm not thinking about what?

Yeah, I mean, I do think it matters. If you got that kind of money, you're investing in it, you expect results. So, you know, if you get to the NCAA tourname, losing the first round, we say we just invested 20 million to lose in the first round. People are gonna be happy about it.

[Matt Jones]

I think that's where you'll hear a lot of complaints, if they were to lose in the first round or something. For me, I'm kind of like Drew in the sense of it's not my money. Where I think it's going to matter is when we find out how much of the Rev Share money goes to each sport. So if Mitch Barnhart makes the decision that basketball is going to get 30 to 40% of the rev share and we're going to give less to football and our football team suffers, then I think our basketball team has to be good. You know what I mean? Like, because that is a limited pool of money and athletic departments are going to choose what to focus on when they make a decision to choose to focus on a sport. I think it's rational for friend bases to say, now, I expect that sport to be good. Yeah, right. Yeah. Do you agree with that? Yeah.

Oh, definitely.

I don't care necessarily about the nil from the collectives because it's not my money. Like, now, if the city people were to tell me we can't do anything about it, the state keeps it, then I'll. I'll blame the state. But, like, I don't think the state is in charge of Richmond Road. I mean, maybe they are. I don't think they are, though, outside.

But I mean, like, when there's a traffic jam in Middlesboro on 19th street, is that the state? I don't think so. I think it's the City, Right.

Like going on. On 19th street in Middlesbrough.

I just picked a street in. In. In there. But I just. So, yeah, I blame them. One person writes, matt, why don't you look at the facts? Homelessness is down 33% in Lexington. I. I don't believe that. I'm not trying to be like a Truth or Shannon. That's like. I, you know, But I don't believe.

That you've done your own.

[Matt Jones]

I live downtown. I see it. I mean, if they are, that might be official. But there is zero doubt in my mind that there is more homelessness in downtown Lexington and around campus now than there's ever been since I've been here. There's no doubt in my mind about that.

[Ryan Lemond]

It's like every intersection.

[Matt Jones]

Every intersection. And there's some. And I'm not mad at these people. The factors that cause that are infinite, you know, addiction, joblessness, you know, there's a lot of things, but the city, like, it's a negative for those people, but it's also a negative for the businesses. It's a negative for the community. Like, it has to be treated as a serious problem in a city. And I don't feel like Lexington does. It was awful in Louisville. It was like, terrible. And it has gotten better. I don't know what they did, but it is better. Lexington's got to find a way to do the same thing. You know, you're downtown. I mean, there's a couple of street corners. That street corner where Tin Roof is.

[Shannon The Dude]

Yes.

[Matt Jones]

I mean, that's that and that's on campus. And then right there in front of Rupp Arena.

[Ryan Lemond]

Yeah.

[Matt Jones]

Not the. Where the Wildcat Liquor is. There's just. You've, like. Everybody knows why. Why do we try to act like it's not. But the one at campus, right there at Tin Roof, I don't understand how that's. There are businesses all over there, and there are 15 people there all times of day, all night.

[Drew Franklin]

I go downtown for breakfast almost every weekend, shout out, pearls, bagels. But it's across from the courthouse, and I'm sitting there eating, and I'm having this. Like, there's just so many out there. And that's early on a Saturday.

[Matt Jones]

And like, so they're building these parks downtown. You're going to have the place behind Rupp Arena. You've got the place next to this building right out here. You've got the new courthouse things. Those are beautiful things that will help the city. But go there and it's just. It's homelessness. Everywhere. Like those places won't succeed if you do that. And it's not fair to those people and it's not fair to the general public. So you got to find something. You got to find a way to do it. I don't know what it is. I'm not sitting here telling you I have answers. But other cities have cleaned it up. Lexington has to make it a priority. Do you agree?

[Ryan Lemond]

Oh, 100%. And you know, the homeless shelters out there off loud and close to Russell Cave, you know, they keep building and building and building. I'm thinking, is it getting that I don't. Desperate that we got.

[Matt Jones]

I want to be clear. I wish I knew what. I don't think it's an easy solution.

[Ryan Lemond]

Yeah.

[Matt Jones]

But I know what's not working. But we're doing whatever we're doing right now.

[Ryan Lemond]

It's like the hotter it gets, the more people are coming out, man, it's super hot.

[Matt Jones]

This is even sadder. It's awful.

Yeah.

So anyway, I'll get off on that.

Have you seen that huge art exhibit? They're put in front of the courthouse, by the way.

And that's a lot. Where the homeless people gather. I don't know what that's there for, what that will impact, but that is a huge exhibit going up right now.

Well, it is. It is. I'd like to see that happen. Secondly, to your point about the roads, we had this issue at Richmond, same kind of a deal, and I learned that major roads like US 27, US 60, US 25, all those roads are state roads.

Well, if they are, then. And I appreciate the call, if they are. I'm sure they are state roads. I don't know who handles when to put the cones up, but if it's the state, then Jim Gray, we got to work on it. That's all I'm saying. Now, if I were governor, would you like to. If I were governor or mayor, you know what my rule would be? Ought to be, we only fix roads after 8 o' clock at night.

[Ryan Lemond]

Yeah.

[Matt Jones]

Now, some things you can't help. I understand. Some things you gotta leave Up. I get that. But like it would be, especially in the summer. It's so hot for those people. Can you. By the way, there's a commercial that runs during the Reds game. Have you seen it? That's eye opening.

I don't know if I've seen it.

[Matt Jones]

It's like this thing. It's an Ohio based commercial that basically says people slow down when you're in construction zone zones. And it shows these people working on roads and how fast the cars go by. And Shannon, I saw it and I was. It was like the first time it hit me. Yeah, we do go too fast when those people are on the interstate, you know?

[Shannon The Dude]

Yeah.

[Matt Jones]

When they're out. Like, it was showing people working on the interstate and how fast the cars fly by.

[Shannon The Dude]

Some of these people, you're just a few feet away from.

[Matt Jones]

You are just right next to them. And I have to tell you, when I saw it, that commercial worked on me. The next time I drive through one of those, I'm driving slower because it was it. Now I'll probably get sick of it. They'll probably run it like all those Reds commercials 9 million times. But it actually worked because I was like, whoa, that is right next to those people.

[Drew Franklin]

I had my eyes open. Changing a tire on the left side of the car.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah.

[Drew Franklin]

Cars that don't get over when people are on the shoulder. I mean, I probably didn't do it every time until I was actually one of them. That is terrifying. If you're just standing there on that line because they're coming at you and you're like, I hope they're paying attention. I don't know. So I would encourage you, if you see someone on the side of the road or work or whatever, please get over to the left.

Do it at night.

I can't believe this is just turned into old man traffic. They also like, is that. Is there any traffic on the planet worse than the traffic getting into Cincinnati?

Remember back in the Day when Kentucky would be losing and in football and they would go off the field at halftime and people would start booing and we would say, oh, don't boo the players don't move. The players need to move the coaches. Well, what if Kentucky's down by 10 at halftime against Toledo or they end up losing the game by 3 against Toledo? Can they, can they boo?

[Matt Jones]

Yeah, they probably will. I'm not. I've never been as anti booing as other people. I don't like when you boo individual players. So I don't like when, for instance, a player makes a bad play and you boo a college player. I don't like it now. I do. Do I think it's going to happen more now in the days that people get paid? Yes, I do.

Booing coach, and I want to give a shout out.

[Matt Jones]

Hang on. Booing coaches, I think is much more understandable, but I don't think booing is like this sacred. I boo the umpires at every Reds game, but I don't think booing is necessarily. But I don't like when it's targeted, though, at one player, a college player I've never really enjoyed. That happens sometimes.

[Drew Franklin]

No, it happens. I never really boom on team, regardless. I mean, I'll get mad and, you know, cuss under my breath or text people, you know, but as far as, like booing my own team, even when I'm upset, I don't.

[Matt Jones]

I don't think I've ever booed my other team, my own team, but there are people that do. Are you. Does it make you mad when people boo?

[Ryan Lemond]

You know, it happens. Started happening a lot. When it's fourth and short and they decide to punch that. I go for it then.

I was about to say a coaching decision like that.

To win the call, you're the one who has to answer to it, not all those fans that are booing you.

You know, you can have to do what you do.

He didn't make the right call and we ended up losing.

I was going to add, I wouldn't boo someone dropping a pass or missing a shot, neither. But a coaching decision where I want to be like, we should have been more aggressive, like Kentucky football. We've seen him give up 14 points at the end of the second quarter in a minute, many times into the first half. If you're booing like how I half ended, probably directed at the coach, that's fine. But booing a guy for a mistake, I don't do that.

I want to feature the game where it's like, who wants to be a millionaire? Let's pull the audience. Should we go for it or punt it? And then when they say and you don't make it, you go, well, all the fans wanted it.

Tyler Childers has a new album. I like it. I don't love it, but I like it. I like it better than a couple of things he's done recently. Still not Purgatory. I'm just going to have to accept that it'll never be another Purgatory, but I like it. I think it's gotten some harsh reviews from people. I don't think that's fair. Well, it's new. I mean, it's very much like. It looks like. It sounds like Tyler took mushrooms, and I know he's, like, gone clean, so I know that's not what it is, but it seems like maybe he went to an Ayahuasca retreat and then did the. That's kind of what it seems like, but it still very much sounds like him. And it's mountain, and he uses country phrases. He's basically like. There's a song where he says he wishes that he was a dog with rabies and if he did, he'd bite you first. And like, things like that that I think are really good lines.

I heard about that one. I want to hear that one. I haven't listened any of it, but at least my friends, everyone liked it. So people out there aren't liking it.

Yeah, I think some people are, but you know what? They just like to complain. I like it. I think if you're ranking Tyler albums, it's not going to be in the top two or three for me, but I think it's better. I actually enjoy it more than I have the last couple, so I'm for it. But it does sound like he. He. I understand he's gone clean. So this clearly, but it's. It seems like he's done shrooms when he did it. Like, it's very much.

But some of his stuff's on the radio like Satellite and Crash into Me. And that stuff's been in the. On the radio. It may not now because I don't know what station would play it. But it was on in the 90s.

Why do you think that is? Because he's selling out huge venues doing.

Radio City music does not play him. And I would say, you know. Is he the biggest country star? No, but I would say he's in the top 15. How many country music people can sell out Madison Square Garden back to back nights?

They're just going to have to deal with it according to Donna. All right, I appreciate. When I was a kid they were building the tunnel from Middlesboro to Harrogate from the day I was born. And I was convinced it would never be finished ever. Like ever in the history of mankind. It. When we moved to Middlesbrough when I was five, they were working on the tunnel and then it did not finish until I was in college. And I remember when they announced it was finished, I thought they were liars, all of them. But. But then they did and it was 15 years for them to build that tunnel.

You know, here in town, even that little road right in front of your house is like an obstacle course right now.

[Matt Jones]

Oh my goodness. That little road right in front of my house. I don't, I don't know if they're trying to dig to China.

I don't know what they're doing. They are out there. It is so loud. They have put metal plates that are 10ft higher than the road up.
