Matt Jones
Welcome to hour two of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.
Drew
Welcome back. Hour number two Kentucky Sports Radio 859-280-2287 Ask Wednesday I'll remind you we are doing interviews all week, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday at the bar for server positions, cooks, etc. So all day or we'll go 10. I think it's 10 to 3 today, tomorrow, Friday. So we'd love to have you and if you know people that would be interested, they're college students, good part time job. If you are interested in a longer term job, come see us. We have very competitive pay and a fun working environment and we open three weeks from yesterday so just coming back here very soon. You excited for that Drew?
Shannon
Very excited. I ordered a bunch of new photos for us to get her tomorrow. So I'll be hit. Ryan. I'll have another framing and hanging party soon. Ready to open it and let everyone in though.
Drew
Yes. And we will put on sale Monday tickets for our fan opening dinner which is I think Thursday the Thursday the 21st. So just keep that in mind. One person also wrote me and said Shannon Harvey would have loved Shiash.
Matt Jones
Absolutely.
Drew
That would have been great to get those two together, wouldn't it?
Matt Jones
Yeah. I think she would have loved Harvey as well.
Drew
I think that's right. Yeah. What press writes Matt has scuttlebutt Lemon who was so good at the 2025 class? Heard anything about recruiting for 2026? Nope. Are you gonna. You gonna go back into that world of reporting recruits? You were pretty good at it last year.
Stockton Mortgage
Yeah. Some real good information. Things just change. It happens sometimes world I get burned by your dude.
Drew
But sometimes. You know what? Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Right? You put your. We put it out there. Didn't work but that's okay.
Stockton Mortgage
I haven't heard anything though about the 2026 class. So I Wonder where you said about Harvey, he would have had a blister rec record.
Drew
Oh, he definitely would have. We could have sent Lodolo to him. He'd be back by his next start.
Stockton Mortgage
No doubt. No doubt.
Drew
You know who else I think Harvey would have really liked? Since I'm people, I'll say Harvey would have liked RFK as the health secretary. That would have been true. Or he would have been. What do they call it, say, maha, make America healthy. That would. Harvey would have been on that train. I don't think there's. I don't think there's any, any doubt about that. One thing I wanted to know, and you're seeing some people talk about this online today, and I think it's a. It is an interesting conversation. The WWE just signed with ESPN $300 million a year to put their, their 12 pay per views on ESPN. So they're going to be on that ESPN. They're going to be on the streaming app. They're not going to be on the regular network, at least they say, but it'll be on streaming. The NFL just announced the NFL Network and NFL Red Zone are going to be on espn. So with the combination of. For us, Drew, you know, sec, NFL and now WWE on espn, you almost have to have that app at this point, right? If you like sports, definitely.
Shannon
And I'm someone that I don't really watch network TV or cable. I will open the ESPN app and see what's going on. Even watching old 30 for 30 mean. Now you just add all the wrestling fans. But here's about them hurting the product at all.
Drew
No, I'm not. I mean, if they didn't change it for Netflix, I don't think they're going to change it for espn. But. But here's what I think is interesting about it. So it was $300 million, and that was the exact same amount that the ESPN is giving the SEC every year for all of the SEC games. And I was seeing people this morning online making the argument kind of that the SEC may have gotten gypped. That basically because the Big Ten, if you remember, signed a contract for more than that. And the SEC contract is long term. I think we still have like another eight, nine years left in it. And the argument was if the WWE's pay per views, which they only do 12 a year, or $300 million, every SEC football game, every SEC basketball game, every SEC women's basketball game, and the SEC network. Okay, so think about all that inventory, all the games. SEC Network that basically the SEC should have gotten more money. And the argument was when we get into this rev share time, there's going to be a time these schools wished that they had signed a bigger deal because when some of these other conferences come up, they're going to get more money per value than the SEC will because the SEC signed a long term deal for maybe not the right amount of money. And I have to say, you know, Shannon, if 12 pay per views for WWE, and granted WrestleMania is one of them, I get it.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Drew
But if they're worth that amount of money for u. S Only rights, they still get to sell it. That's not world rights, that's just u. S rights.
Matt Jones
I was wondering about that. So, I mean, you would think then by the numbers they're saying that as many people watch 12 pay per views for the WWE as watches.
Drew
But I don't think that's true though. I think more people will watch the SEC total again. I mean, how many people watch a wrestling pay per view? A few million?
Matt Jones
I'm not sure.
Drew
But, but there are, you, there are college football games that get more than that. Well, I actually think there's a decent argument that RSCC deal actually ends up looking like it's not worth enough money. When you compare it, you know, you hear $300 million, you go, that's a ton of money. It is, but the big ten sign for more. And when you compare it now to other sports, I don't know, Shannon, I mean, I kind of think maybe the SEC should have gotten more or maybe.
Matt Jones
Triple h is just a great negotiator. Maybe more than what they should have.
Drew
Maybe. What do you all think? I mean, I would say the, to me, the SEC deal for every game, which think about how many games that is, is worth more than 12 pay per views.
Stockton Mortgage
I, I don't know the timeline, but I assume when they cut this deal with the sec, maybe that was top market value.
Drew
It was like two years ago. It was like two years ago, two and a half years ago.
Stockton Mortgage
So, you know, good for the ESPN to kind of, you know, negotiate that deal at the time that maybe would be worth double that two years later.
Drew
I mean, I don't care, Drew. Except for when it comes to being competitive, right? I mean, you always say you give the quote. I say all the time, it's not my money, so what do I care? But I do hope we don't get to a point five years down the road where we're still in this contract that looks like it's not worth as much and it hurts us to actually be competitive on the field.
Shannon
Yeah, it sure looks like ESPN got a bargain. Just look at the poll that came out Yesterday. Was it nine or 10 SEC teams in the preseason top 25. So, I mean, every single week you're going to have some great games. And it compared to what they just signed the WWE for. And it may, especially in a few years, it's going to look like they got a nice little bargain on getting the best conference in football.
Drew
Yeah. And now Shannon, you know, with all these things, got the NFL, WWE all in, espn, the, you know, a lot of opportunities for Uncle Matt potentially. Or they could just ignore me for all of them. Expert.
Matt Jones
You're an NFL expert.
Drew
Well, definitely an NFL expert now, right?
Matt Jones
Exactly. Yeah.
Drew
Yeah. I mean, they had talked to me about a year ago about hosting a WWE pay per view pregame show with Booker T. Oh, what? Yeah. And I was like, oh, I'd love to do that. And then about a month later, they announced the show, and it wasn't me, it was Booker T. And somebody else. And I was like, well, oh, well.
Matt Jones
What was the guy named, the guys that replaced you that one time?
Drew
It was not Yom Yummy Suck. It was the guy I understood. It was the guy in New York. He's been on a bunch of stuff. Peter Rosenberg or something like that.
Stockton Mortgage
Yeah, yeah, I understand.
Drew
Like, he's done a bunch of stuff for them. So it made sense to me. Who's up next?
Shannon
He could have been the other half of Harlem Heat.
Drew
I could. I was supposed to be Stevie Ray.
Matt Jones
Go ahead, Hunter.
Drew
Hunter. Go ahead, Hunter. Hunter. Yes. Anytime you're ready.
Caller
All right, I got two. Two questions. One, if Ortega was there for Cows last year, Kentucky, would it affected the outcome of the season? And Woody would have left with him for Arkansas. Second question. With the revenue share, we're. We're thinking, like, what's North Carolina going to do with their football program? Stuff like that. What the heck's Alabama gonna do with two elite programs?
Drew
Yeah, I mean, Matt. Well, Matt Norlander said on my Interrupted podcast, I asked him what programs would be most effective, affected negatively by Rev. Share. I don't know if you all heard this, but if you listen to my Interrupted podcast, we talk about this. I asked him what programs will be affected most positively. And he said Kentucky, Duke. And then he mentioned those Big east schools, St. John's Connecticut and Villanova and Marquette. But then I asked him which schools were going to be most affected negatively. And Drew, he led with Alabama and Auburn. He said Alabama and Auburn basketball, they're going to take the biggest hit because he said there's no way their football programs are going to sacrifice the money. And he even then mentioned Arkansas as well. He basically was like, he kind of thought the schools that would take the biggest hit are the SEC schools not named Kentucky and Florida. He thought there were people at Florida that would still really push that. But he kind of thought Alabama and Auburn might take the two biggest hits.
Shannon
Definitely. They're both new to basketball success in the last decade. And Auburn especially, there's a hunger to get football back where it needs to be because bama football is still pretty much been Bama football. So it'd be interesting to see if that fan base likes this run with Bruce Pearl where they've, you know, doubled their conference championships under Pearl or do they want to get back to winning the Iron Bowl? Because it'll be hard to do both.
Drew
It's going to be hard to do both. You're right. And that might be why Bruce Pearl seems to be sniffing at running for Senate is he might be seeing the writing on the wall and thinking, I don't know if this is going to be the path. As far as the first question, Ryan, I don't know if Ortega away is a cow player. What do you think?
Stockton Mortgage
Yeah, you know, you got Reed, Rob and Antonio Reeves. Those three guys on that team.
Drew
His last Wagner, I mean, was Otago play over those. All those guys. That's it.
Stockton Mortgage
Where's he going to play? Where's he going? The floor. As great as I'll take it was I might take the other guys over over him last year. That year.
Drew
Although Cal did like dudes who were tough and would take it to the basket more than he did shooters. So maybe he would have been a cow player. I don't know. It's hard to say. Who's next?
Matt Jones
Doug.
Drew
Doug. Go ahead, Doug.
Caller
Hey, guys, since it's ask anything Wednesday, there's something one in yourall's opinion on.
Drew
For a long time.
Caller
So we know that Jerry west is the logo of the NBA. Not sure that he should still be, but he is. Who is the logo of UK athletics, both male and female?
Drew
Well, so I, you know, I did. That's a good question. I appreciate the call. I mean, female. Let's start with female. Is it Sidney McLaughlin, Ryan?
Stockton Mortgage
Oh, I thought maybe he was talking just basketball. A basketball logo.
Drew
Okay, well, if you're talking basketball, then I don't know. I mean, we mentioned the other day the three or four kind of best players that would. Does one stand out to you of that group.
Shannon
If I were in charge, I'd probably make it Dan Issel just because he's the leader in points and rebounds. I know it's been a long time, but those two records have stood for a while and probably aren't going anywhere.
Drew
And it's a similar era. It's a similar era to Jerry west.
Shannon
With Anthony Davis as a close second.
Drew
Yeah, you're probably right.
Stockton Mortgage
If you go that line of thought, then it's Valerie, still the female one. She's actually the scoring leader.
Shannon
I have Matthew Mitchell doing the Dougie as the women's logo.
Drew
I like those picks. I think that. I think those are. Those are probably pretty good picks. Shannon. War of the Worlds. Apparently there's a new War of the Worlds. I didn't know. I did not know it existed until earlier today. And it stars Ice Cube, is that right?
Matt Jones
That's right. Yep.
Drew
And it has a zero on Rotten Tomatoes.
Matt Jones
How's that possible?
Drew
Not one literally has literally has the worst reviews of a film that has come out of a certain budget in the last. Since COVID Now I want you to think about that for a minute. Since COVID every movie, and I don't know what the amount is, but every movie that's been made for a certain amount of money, this movie has the worst reviews of any Shannon. I would never see War of the Worlds, but now I kind of want to see.
Matt Jones
Oh yeah, this makes me want to see it. First of all, it brings awareness to the fact that even exists because I didn't even know it existed until this morning. But now I do want to watch it just to see how bad is it? Like how bad has Ice Cube's career fallen off a cliff?
Drew
I would argue you'd rather have a zero, Drew, than have like a 20. Because I now wonder how bad can this be that it hasn't even gotten one positive review? Like it must be so bad that now I almost want to see. How could it be that bad?
Shannon
Me too. Didn't know this existed till. Till it was mentioned today. It's kind of like the Aiden LaRose with the zero toughness punting. We don't talk about the punter if he doesn't have that zero. We don't talk about Ice Cubes new movie if it's not a zero. If it's just middle of the pack of the worst movies. Don't even know it exists. Now I will make a point to watch it just to know how awful it is.
Matt Jones
And it's time it's on Prime.
Drew
Oh, it's already out. So it's not in a theater?
Matt Jones
No. You can watch it like right now if you want to.
Drew
Okay. All right. So I think we should watch it.
Matt Jones
Let's do it.
Drew
I haven't seen a War of the World's. I mean, I know they had a couple a few years ago. I haven't seen any of them. So I hope I will be able to keep up with the story. But. But Ryan, would you want to watch the zero movie War of the Worlds?
Stockton Mortgage
Let's do it. And you said it. Wouldn't you rather have a zero than a 20? Because now we would never be talking about if it was a 20.
Drew
Okay, here's the thing. If you're listening, we have a group homework assignment.
Stockton Mortgage
Okay.
Drew
By Monday. By Monday. What are they? What are the reviews?
Matt Jones
I was rooting for the aliens.
Drew
I was reading for the aliens.
Matt Jones
Beyond belief. Bland and boring bore. The world's awful. Was this the student project? This is. These are great.
Drew
I love it. All right, so for, for, for between now and Monday, that is. Our homework is that you have to. You have to watch War of the Worlds. I'm told that WLAP just went off the air. This company and their technology, the aliens is unbelievably. Hopefully the rest of you are still hearing it. Maybe we're talking into the void. We'll take a break. Be right back. KSR.

How do you say L O U R D E S.
Matt Jones
Lordes?
Stockton Mortgage
Don't know.
Drew
Yes. Lourdes Uriel Jr. Of the Diamondbacks hit 103.9 mile per hour home run fastball from a guy named Mason Miller, who I think throws faster than anybody in the league through 103.9. And he hit a home run. It is the first. It is the fastest ball hit for a home run of all time.
Stockton Mortgage
Man, it's crazy. I mean, pitchers are throwing the ball faster, guys are hitting it harder. Just every year, just the bigger, better, stronger, faster. Makes me wonder how all these records are not going to be just obliviated in the years ahead.
Drew
It's amazing. 103.9. That's hard to even fathom. But he's thrown. The guy who threw the pitch has thrown it up to 104.5.
Stockton Mortgage
Amazing.
Matt Jones
Grief.
Stockton Mortgage
That's insane.
Drew
He played for the A's, now he plays for the Padres. So that's why we've probably never heard him. I had Pablo Torre on my Interrupted by Matt Jones podcast. I think you. I think people will enjoy it. We talk about Rick Pitino, we talk about Bill Belichick, and that's most of the show, because he's really fascinated in both those stories. A lot of the stuff about Patino you all will know, but it's fun to talk about somebody else. But he also said two things, Drew, that I thought you'd find interesting. Number one, do you. We've talked, I think, before about the Yankees wife swap. Right? Do you remember that? The two. The two guys that change families. He said, by the way, and I didn't know this, so you remember there were two players, they were like swingers on the baseball team. They decided to change wives and families. Did you know that one of those two is still married to the woman that he switched with? No.
Shannon
Also, didn't they, like, swap children, too?
Drew
They swapped everything. Yeah, they just changed houses.
Matt Jones
So weird.
Drew
But I'm not surprised that one of the two relationships didn't work. But aren't you surprised that the other one did?
Stockton Mortgage
Yes. Yes. That's.
Drew
I didn't know that till he said it. And second, and Shannon, this probably won't shock you. You remember Total Request live?
Matt Jones
Oh, yeah. TRL, TRL.
Drew
You remember they would do the top 10 every day?
Matt Jones
Of course, yeah.
Drew
Pablo Torre proved on his podcast it was rigged. They would tell you to call in and vote. They never took the votes. They just ranked them based on what they wanted.
Matt Jones
To play doesn't surprise me at all. You know, MTV was going to basically force feed you the bands that they wanted you to hear. Didn't matter what people really voted. So that doesn't surprise me.
Drew
It didn't really shock me. But now we have official word that TRL was rigged. People were not calling in for NSYNC and Limp Bizkit.
Matt Jones
No.
Drew
As much as you thought they were during the time.
Matt Jones
But that was MTV's narrative. They wanted you to like that music, so they wanted you to see that it was number one every day on the top 10. Now we know it's a lie.
Drew
Now we know it's a lie. So. So, yeah, check that out. That episode. If you get a chance. What's next?
Matt Jones
Jackson.
Drew
Jackson. Go ahead, Jackson.
Caller
Hey, Matt. I was just wondering about what you think of the Reds. They beat the Cubs twice, about. Hopefully about to sweep them. And I saw something that said they have a 13.8% chance to make the postseason. So I was wondering what you thought of that.
Drew
Yeah, I'm not getting my hopes up. I'm not Jackson, but I have enjoyed it. You know, they. They lost that game, the Bristol game, and I kind of thought that might be it. But now they've won the last two. Their new guys played a big role. I know you appreciate defense. Ryan, did you see that play key Brian made last night at third base?
Stockton Mortgage
The one he bare handed and threw the guy out? That one? Yeah.
Drew
That was one of the best play. And the pitcher played well. And then they get. So both your, like.
Stockton Mortgage
Yeah. Your new acquisitions won that game for you last did.
Drew
Yeah. So you know, they play this afternoon, Jackson. I don't know if they'll win that, but then they got four straight against the Pirates. They need to win three of those. If they. If they win three of the four against. I'm going to be at the game Saturday and Sunday. I'm going up there. If they win three of those four, Jackson. Or they win today, so three of the next five, then I'm on board and you and I can start getting excited. All right. All right.
Matt Jones
So he didn't sound too excited. Now he hung up. He was gone.
Drew
Yeah. I mean, I don't want to believe Ryan because I feel like it's just a good way to get hurt. But it is good. They've won the series at Chicago. That was exciting.
Stockton Mortgage
And they've got the schedule ahead of them that they could actually make some well this week.
Drew
Then it starts to get really hard. They play like all the best teams down the stretch. So it's going to be a tough. But I want to thank them. They've given me a lot of enjoyment this year. I've really enjoyed it. What's next?
Matt Jones
Sounds like somebody's going to renew next year for their season tickets.
Drew
Yeah, I am. I mean next year, to be honest with you, the next two years is what they've been building for is 26 and 27. Now I will say if they don't make the playoffs one of those two years, we'll go ahead and go on record. Shannon not renewing in 28.
Matt Jones
Okay. All right.
Drew
They got 26 and 27 to get me. I'm writing this down because then all their players, their contract, like they've got their core for the next two years. And that's what I'm, that's why I'm still holding out hope. What's next?
Ryan Seacrest
Bob?
Drew
Bob, go ahead.
Caller
Bob, Good morning. Yes.
Drew
You got one minute.
Caller
Bob, I'm impressed with the interview with Assange. Is that the way you pronounce his name?
Drew
His name is not Assad. That was the former leader of Syria. His name is Shiaj.
Caller
I'm, I'm a Crow member adopted by the Crow from Montana. And I wonder, they played a lot of seven man football in that area and out southwest. And I just wondered if he participated in the seven man.
Drew
Yeah, I didn't hear that. He did. He said he played 11 on 11, but they only had 11 guys. But he may have done that, but he didn't say one way or the other. So I don't know.
Caller
And you were talking about Cortez. There's a place to help more.
Drew
I have to let you go. I'm sorry. We'll take a break. T.J. smith, personal injury attorney.
Ryan Seacrest
Call T.J. he'll make him pay.
Matt Jones
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Drew
Welcome back. Kee Sports Radio. Some breaking news, Shannon. The SEC has announced the basketball opening and closing closing weekend schedule they are opening. They have decided every year to open SEC play every year with powerhouses playing and then make the last Saturday of every season rivalry Saturday. So the opening weekend for Kentucky, they will play on the road at Alabama January 3rd. Their first game in SEC play will be at Alabama and they will close the season at home on rivalry Saturday against Florida in the final home game of the year. Do you like that, Drew? I love it.
Shannon
And I have a prediction. March 7th will be for the SEC regular season crown. Kentucky Florida in Lexington. Interrupt Rupp arena winner wins the Conference.
Drew
I like that. I don't. I don't think that's a bad prediction.
Shannon
I love the. I love the Alabama. When to start it? I'd prefer a home game, but whatever. You got to go to Alabama eventually. Let's just get it out of the way. I love how those are the bookends on the schedule.
Drew
And that'll be the only time we play Alabama all year, by the way. So anytime we play Alabama all year.
Stockton Mortgage
Will be there home, at home.
Drew
Not home and home. No, we play our home and home teams are Florida, Tennessee and Vandy. Vandy. So it's back to Florida, Tennessee, Vandy again. So that game against Alabama on the road is the only time we'll see them all year long. Ryan, do you like opening with Alabama and closing at home with Florida?
Stockton Mortgage
The thing I like the best is that the Florida game closing out is at Rupp Arena. I thought for sure when you started that they were going to end at Tennessee or at Florida as the rivalry game on the road. I thought, what for sure you're going to say that. So the fact you've got Florida, the defending champs at home. Yeah, absolutely. Bring it.
Drew
All right. I like it. So there you go. That is your SEC update schedule. They should have the whole schedule here probably pretty soon. The women's schedule came out yesterday. Yeah, the SEC schedule. So you got to think the men's will come out soon after Shady Rays. We are at Shady Rays on Friday. We will be doing our remote there in Lexington at the summit. Remember, 50% off all shady Rays in Lexington on Friday. Plus I may spice it up with some. Some ticky ticks. So all you got to do is come to Shady Rays. Lexington and Summit should be a fun show. I think the weather. The weather's supposed to be good. I was gonna say it was gonna be good, but I realized I have no idea if it's gonna be good or not.
Stockton Mortgage
Yeah, I think it's supposed to be really good.
Drew
Really good. Good. And as soon as it's over, I'm hopping in a car and heading up to Pittsburgh. So Shady Rays Friday at the Summit. We will see you there. Who's next? Shannon?
Matt Jones
Jordan.
Drew
Jordan. Go ahead, Jordan.
Caller
Hey, guys. I watched the Any Given Saturday Netflix stock. Kentucky's not really in it. They don't cover us during the South Carolina game, just their perspective. In the last episode. We get like 10 minutes where they cover Harrison and then they say we're playing against Louisville for pride and then show us getting destroyed. So that's fun.
Drew
Yeah. As I understand it. You tell me if this is right, if you seen the whole thing. The South Carolina episode is centered around South Carolina, but the Kentucky Louisville episode looks like it was supposed to be centered around us, but then we lost. And so they didn't do a whole lot in it.
Caller
Yeah, they showed a lot of, like, practice and stuff. They have, like, Matt, they have Harrison talking to Dion, and, you know, all those guys. And then there's a little bit of it. But then it. Clearly they were like, oh, yeah, Kentucky's gonna play for pride. They show Hairston, like, doing his homework in the hotel room, which is interesting. And then. Then they just show highlights of Louisville just destroying us.
Drew
Is the show good overall? Like, is it a good show?
Caller
It's. It's very repetitive. I watched the first four episodes, and I was like, this is the same, like, thing over and over again. They show a lot of lsu. And then I actually skipped episodes five and six and just went straight to hours and skipped through that, too. They do cover Vandy during the Alabama week, and I was like, oh, yeah, this will be a great.
Drew
So, yeah, I heard they have a really cool shot. They're on the field with the fans as they're. As they're storming. Somebody told me, if you didn't like Diego Pavia before, you'll really not like him after this. Is that true?
Caller
One of his roommates talks to him, and he's like, dude, you got to stop cussing in public.
Drew
Okay, well, I'm gonna watch it.
Caller
He's like, yeah, you did it at the restaurant the other day.
Drew
Yeah, well, okay, well, listen, I appreciate the information. Have you all watched any of it? The three of you? I have yet to see any of it.
Stockton Mortgage
I watched the first episode last night. It was all Brian Kelly and Shane Beamer and the two guys I liked the least in the entire conference. But I stomached through the first episode.
Shannon
Same as Ryan, when Brian Kelly was the first 15 minutes. I had it on. But I was like, I'd rather not start with him. Not a fan.
Drew
Yeah. I mean, I love anything behind the scenes. Does anybody know, did Hard Knocks deal with Hairston or Walker or Davis? Do we know the first episode last.
Shannon
Night that's on my watch list tonight? I have not seen any spoilers.
Drew
Okay.
Shannon
I assume if they were heavily featured, that would have been circulating on social media, but I have not seen it.
Matt Jones
I gotta get through War of the Worlds first.
Drew
I would have thought. I would have thought with Davis's story and Harris, I. I would think they'll be on there at some point. But.
Caller
But.
Drew
But we'll see who's.
Shannon
Josh Allen got married. That'll be. Probably be featured.
Drew
Oh, to. You mean the other Josh Allen?
Shannon
Yeah, the Bills quarterback.
Drew
Okay.
Shannon
I assume they'll follow him around.
Matt Jones
Don.
Drew
Yeah, Don. Go ahead, Don.
Caller
Hey, Matt. I was listening to sports radio, and on two different unrelated sports, it was go time. What I'd like to know is when or why is it go time? When is go time over and who gets to declare it and why? It can't be a talking head.
Drew
You mean like go time in a game?
Caller
Go time for whatever this was like, and they were talking about and, you know, like before the season started or some, you know, anytime. Whenever. Anybody. Whenever it gets declared.
Drew
Well, so here's what I think, generally speaking, and I appreciate the call. Generally speaking. I actually had to talk about this in my interview with Terry Miners yesterday. I hate Shannon Cliche. Like, one things I hate about media is the way people have to do segments, right? Like, I really hate segments on shows when they're like, okay, let's play Deal or no Deal. Let's play fact or fiction. You know, all those kinds of things really, it's just a way of we gotta have something to say, so let's call it a game. Announcers are like that too, with things like he's really stepping up or it's go time or whatever. I just think that's kind of. You're just leaning back on something because you don't have anything interesting to say. So you go back. Now, I do like catch phrases like when people will say straight back, when I was a kid, string music in Kentucky. But in general, when I hear things like go time. That guy's right. Like, what does that even mean? It's go time. And it always go time. I always kind of just roll my eyes.
Matt Jones
I guess it's talking time a lot of the summer, but now we're getting down to the last, you know, 30 days before football season. Now it's go time. I think that's probably what they mean, probably.
Drew
Are you all. Do you. Drew, I feel like you. We've talked about this. When we were playing our NFL show, Billy was like, do we want to have segments? And I said, I hate segments. I think they're kind of stupid.
Shannon
But, yeah, they get a little cheesy. I know your. Your ESPN employer is big on them.
Drew
We've got like two segments scheduled for this afternoon. You know, I mean, I don't. I. I don't. I don't want to make fun of them. But we like these shows. They all have segments and you know, you have to do them. But I like right. Right now today on ESPN radio, I'm gonna have to do NFL 2A days and the two we have are the Bears, which actually I can do. And Shannon, your Packers. What should I say about your packers this afternoon?
Matt Jones
That they're gonna win the Super Bowl. That's really all you need to say. Look at Aaron.
Drew
But can you give me any information about them?
Matt Jones
Yeah, Jordan loves their quarterback.
Drew
I do that.
Matt Jones
Yeah. That's about it. I don't know.
Drew
All right, well, there you go.
Matt Jones
Kept up with them at all in the off season.
Drew
As you can tell, you're gonna hear me BS about it for. For 10 minutes today. What's next?
Matt Jones
Jeff?
Drew
Jeff. Go ahead, Jeff.
Caller
Hey, guys. Hey, Matt, do you have any idea why UK is doing the family day during the Texas game this year?
Drew
What Family Day. Is that where you get to bring your kids for like a reduced price or something?
Caller
Yeah, you know, I usually do it against stinky things where the parents coming in to visit their kids.
Drew
Oh, you mean like Parents Day, or do you mean like Family Day?
Caller
Yeah, yeah, it's like they call it Family Day, but it's more like Parents Day.
Drew
Oh. For the college students. Oh, I don't know. You're right. They usually do that at a game or where it would be easy to get tickets. I am surprised that they would do that for Texas because presumably that's going to be kind of a hard ticket.
Caller
Don't be very hard ticket. We usually get an RV site. Pinky Pink season. Not going to be able to do that this year.
Drew
Yeah, I don't know. I have not heard. But that is. Maybe they just. Maybe they were hoping to find a way to not have that stadium filled with Texas fans. It's the first time they've come. I don't know. That's interesting. I appreciate the call. Drew, why do you think they did that yet? Because usually Parents Day is when we play like Vandy or something.
Shannon
Just a complete guess, but we only have two home games with Keeneland. Maybe they try to line it up with that. The other's Tennessee. So if you're picking up the two, Texas has never been here. I don't know. But just Keeneland being that time, maybe they want to have they combine the parents and the football weekend.
Drew
How much do you think we're going to get invaded for that Texas game?
Stockton Mortgage
That I believe will be the hardest ticket all season due to Texas fans Coming into our town and buying all the tickets.
Drew
Well, they might be number one.
Stockton Mortgage
Yeah, it's true.
Drew
You know, I mean, there's a decent chance they'll come in and they'll be the number one team in the country. I think you're going to see. I think that Saturday in Lexington has a potential to be. Because Keeneland's going on to. Has the potential to be like an insane Saturday. Because if I was a Texas fan, you've never been here. Keeneland's here. Like, why wouldn't you go? I mean, you're going to see. I. I think you. This sounds crazy, but I think you could see 30 to 40,000 Texans. Texas fans here.
Shannon
Oh, I'm expecting it. And, you know, Kentucky football doesn't really move the needle in the sec, but Lexington might be the number one destination. It really is. I mean, people can go to Nashville. People have been to Nashville. But, I mean, you're going to go to Auburn, Alabama, Tuscaloosa. Kentucky has Keeneland going on Bourbon Trail City. It is a. It's a place where, when your school doesn't get to go there very often, you want to make sure you take advantage of it. That one.
Drew
The same way we wanted to go to Austin. Yeah, exactly. Like, when we played there last year, everybody. There were a lot of people that really wanted to go. I expect. You know, I expect they're going to be some games this year. Ole Miss. They're going to be a ton of Ole Miss fans up here. There will there. I mean, there's going to be a ton. That'll be their first big game of the year. Just like it is ours. It's here. We beat them last year, so they feel like they want revenge. I think you're going to see both for Ole Miss and Texas, just obscene crowds of their fans here. And obviously Tennessee always does that.
Stockton Mortgage
Yes.
Drew
So, I mean, three of our what, Three of our seven home games. I would just expect to see just massive amounts of the other team. Tell me about Stockton Mortgage.
Stockton Mortgage
Stockton Mortgage. A lot of people are like, I mean, asking me, you know, should we go ahead and try to do a refinance even though the rates are high? You need to talk to them and just sit down. They'll talk to you. They'll go over all your options. You may do something. They may say, hey, why don't you wait one more year? If the rates go down, then do it. So you can trust them. And I've trusted them for years, doing my own mortgage and referring customers to them. So give them a try Stockton Mortgage. Go to their website, stockton.com and there's a button right there that says get started. They'll link you up with a loan officer all across Kentucky, even outside of Kentucky. They can help you refinance, do a cash out refinance, do a HELOC. They can do it all for you. Stockton Mortgage NMLS 8259 equal housing lender.
Drew
All right, I'm gonna have to go lock in so that the ESPN people tell me what we're doing today. So these guys gonna take you through the final segment. Drew or excuse me, Ryan. I'm gonna mention Devin key at 1:00 clock and that interception he got.
Stockton Mortgage
Yeah.
Drew
Who was it against? Oh, against Bonix.
Stockton Mortgage
Bo Nicks. Yeah.
Drew
I'll be on ESPN from 12 to 3. If you're bored, please flip over. We will take a break. We'll be back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.

Welcome back Kentucky Sports Radio. Ryan, Drew and Shannon. That's Tiffany. You're either team Tiffany or you were team Debbie Gibson back in the day. Shannon.
Matt Jones
I didn't even know there was a Debbie Gibson. Tiffany was the only name that I recognized from the 80s.
Stockton Mortgage
Yeah, she was kind of the little, you know, what a risque one.
Matt Jones
What did Debbie.
Stockton Mortgage
Debbie Gibson was like the goody two shoes one.
Matt Jones
But what was her song?
Stockton Mortgage
I can't think of it. With Tiffany going on right now. She had a couple hits.
Matt Jones
Everybody knows this one. I think we're alone now.
Stockton Mortgage
Yeah, yeah.
Matt Jones
Which I don't even think was her song. I think that was out before that, before her.
Stockton Mortgage
And they both got popular, didn't they both get popular by going to shopping malls across the country?
Matt Jones
Tiffany did. Tiffany was on Full House. That's how I remember.
Stockton Mortgage
All right, Ryan, Drew and Shannon here. I got one segment here if you want to call. We'll get you on real quick. 859-280-2287. That's the Clark's publisher phone number. So Drew, there is a Kentucky Little League coach that is going viral right now. I believe he's coaching the Eastern Little League all star team in the regional tournament. Is that right?
Drew
Correct.
Stockton Mortgage
And he makes a mound visit. Shannon, you know, you've been there, you're the pitcher. Coach comes out, talks to you. But obviously the stakes are a little higher. When it's the regional tournament. You're trying to get to the Little League World Series. Big crowds, you're on the road.
Shannon
Big stadiums, people watching at home on tv.
Stockton Mortgage
This was on espn. Crying out loud. Huge moment for Eastern Little League that produced Walker Beeler, by the way, Eastern Little League. And this, this coach comes out and he did something that's gone viral and we want to play it for you. So go ahead, Shannon.
Drew
I don't have that many funny ones.
Caller
Oh, I got one.
Drew
Do you know that a koala bear is not actually A bear. It's a, it's a marsupial. Do you know why a koala bear is a bear? Is a marsupial, not a bear.
Matt Jones
Anybody know?
Drew
It doesn't have the qualifications.
Stockton Mortgage
And then he walks off. That was the entire mound visit. It's a huge point of the game. He goes out, brings his infield in his pitcher and he tells the joke about a marsupial. I loved every second of it.
Shannon
Me too. If I had that little league coach, I might have stuck with baseball with that kind of attitude. Ryan, you, you've been in that spot. Does that help the pitcher if you're just talking nothing about baseball and you know, telling a joke or keeping their mind on something else?
Stockton Mortgage
Well, these are, these are 12 year old kids, you know, and they feel it. They know, man, it is a tight game. They're trying to win and, you know, advance. So I was coaching 8 year olds. Here's my story, Shannon. Yeah, and it was a huge game. Matter of fact, Dante Key was the other coach. We were playing Dante's team.
Shannon
Oh.
Drew
Head to head.
Stockton Mortgage
First place up for grabs in Southwest Little League. Now Southwest Pony. I'm sorry. And big part of the game. So I called timeout in the eight year old game. Shannon walked to the mound, called my infield in and I'm like, tell me what I want, what I really, really want. Yeah, I'll tell you what I want, what I really, really want. I want you guys to get this guy out, walk back to the dugout. That was my, it was my mountain visit.
Matt Jones
Did they laugh? Did they get it?
Stockton Mortgage
I mean, they probably never heard the.
Matt Jones
Song Girls even a big thing then.
Stockton Mortgage
Well, no, they had no idea who the Spice Girls were. Didn't know what I was doing. But I like this coach was doing for this. You just tried to just. I mean, it's baseball. It's supposed to be fun.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Stockton Mortgage
Don't be upset.
Matt Jones
What don't we say in that moment anyway? Throw a strike. I mean, the pitcher knows how to pitch. At this point, there's nothing you can unless you're talking strategy at that point. I think the main object is to get out there and just to break up the rhythm of the pitcher. Right. Make them laugh, make them smile and think about something else for a second.
Stockton Mortgage
My college coach at Kentucky, Wesley and Denny potts was like 5 foot 3 when he would make a mountain visit. He would go, Shannon, and stand on the rubber. So he would be as tall as all the other players, kind of stand down, come out a little bit. So But I thought the coach Drew played it perfectly. Just try to have some fun. Enjoy the moment. Enjoy baseball.
Shannon
It's a great joke. They did have to come home. That was the end of the road for our Kentuckians.
Stockton Mortgage
So the marsupial joke didn't work.
Shannon
It didn't. Well, we don't know that didn't work. Maybe it helped that picture in that moment. But it was great. It's gone viral. Some nice attention for him, but it was the end of the road for the Kentuckians.
Stockton Mortgage
Maybe he should have told a better joke.
Shannon
No, that's a good one. That's a great one.
Matt Jones
I could tell you that my mountain visits were not as pleasant from my playing days.
Stockton Mortgage
From Scotty Wiegand.
Matt Jones
Yeah, Scotty Wiegand wasn't telling any jokes.
Stockton Mortgage
He ain't messing around telling your ass.
Matt Jones
To throw a strike or you're gonna get yanked out of there.
Shannon
What age group did you say you sang Spice Girls to?
Stockton Mortgage
Eight year old. Yeah.
Shannon
They probably weren't very familiar.
Stockton Mortgage
They had no idea. But I thought that was a good way to do it. Tell me what I want. We're really one. I'll tell you what I want. What I really want once you get this guy out.
Matt Jones
I mean, unless it was like 1996 when this happened.
Stockton Mortgage
No, no, it was like 2010.
Shannon
It's good to know Coach Lemon's tactics, though.
Stockton Mortgage
Yeah. And we lost the game. I think Dante's team beat me that game.
Shannon
So you still bring that up while you are playing by the pool?
Stockton Mortgage
Yeah. So listen, Matt mentioned it. We are at Shady Rays on Friday. Wild Egg is going to be there, free breakfast. Matt's already mentioned he's going to have maybe some ticket giveaways. A lot of free. Good. But it's always a fun show. We go to Shady Rays.
Drew
Drew. Yeah.
Shannon
They're having a big, big sale on their sunglasses. So if you're going to maybe even partake and leave with some sunglasses, we usually do sunglass giveaways. I double checked your weather forecast. Looking good. That's when we're usually outside there at the summit. You should get a good crowd. So I'm looking forward to getting out there.
Stockton Mortgage
And the. The interviews continue at KS Bar and Grill. You know, if you interested, maybe being one of our servers, a hostess working the kitchen. We got some spots. So come on down and check out. Monique's doing interviews through. Through the rest of the week, right? Yep, through the rest of the week.
Shannon
Almost here.
Drew
All right.
Stockton Mortgage
We're going to take our break for 2, 22 hours and be back. Ryan, Drew and Shannon, this has been Kentucky Sports radio. Goodbye.
