Welcome to hour two of Kentucky sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.
Shannon The Dude
Welcome back. Our number two Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-280-2287. Text MA is 772-774-5254. It's very interesting to me looking at comments. Drew. The text machine is infinitely nicer in its comments than Twitter, which makes me think, do you think Twitter attracts the meanest people on earth? Mario's shaking his head.
Billy Rutledge
Yes, like, and it's gotten much worse. I'm not on it nearly as much.
Shannon The Dude
As I used to be. Like, the text machine is anonymous. I do have your phone number, I guess, but it's anonymous. But people say the nicest things. Their critiques are not mean spirited. They're usually in the benefit of like just offering an other argument. And I get hundreds of them a day and I don't, you know, I read the vast majority. I'm not gonna say I always see every one of them, but I read the majority and I. They are actually a very affirming thing and interesting. And then Twitter, Twitter, I think amazing, like, brings out the worst of humanity. You can take a person that's a pretty good person, put them on Twitter and they'll be calling people just terrible names. And then if I respond and say something nice, they'll usually go, oh, man, you know, I was just kidding. Like, it's just Twitter like a sport. It's like. But firing off human.
Billy Rutledge
Yeah.
Shannon The Dude
And like, and there's another human on the receiving end of it. Facebook is bad, but it's mostly just old people who don't know how to do anything else on the computer. And so they're just.
Billy Rutledge
Other people can see it.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, I mean, like, I don't Facebook, I really now only get on to do the bond that bridge and look at it. And like, those people are really nice. And by the way, if you listen to this show and you're on Facebook, you should follow the Bond that Bridge page. Like, it's a good collection of KSR fans. The ladies of KSR page. There's a men of KSR page, which I think is nice to do. But like, you know, just be careful using that account sometimes. Yeah. Just, you know, it's an unofficial. Yeah, that is not, that's not, that's not official. But then you just get on regular Facebook and people are just like, Sarah over at the Mexican restaurant looked at me funny. Like, people are just very upset.
Billy Rutledge
I guess they got. It's a great impersonation, someone being mad At Sarah. At their local Mexican restaurant.
Shannon The Dude
Well, just where they go to town. Small town. Facebook is great.
Billy Rutledge
Yeah.
Shannon The Dude
Because the things that people like. Like I saw, I guess, in Richmond, Madison Central High School did their senior prank, and I guess they went to Meijer and bought all the eggs in the store and then went and just threw them in the parking lot.
Drew Franklin
That's an expensive prank.
Shannon The Dude
Well, first of all. Well, first of all, it's not really a prank. It's just destruct.
Billy Rutledge
Just a mess.
Shannon The Dude
A prank is like when you did what I did in college where we locked our fraternity in the fraternity room and left town.
Billy Rutledge
That's good.
Shannon The Dude
That's a prank. It's good prank.
Drew Franklin
That's just mean.
Billy Rutledge
There's a little bit of fire issues there.
Shannon The Dude
When I was. Well, we didn't think of that at the time. It was quite a prank, by the way. You had to put one on Shannon. I think I've told this before. The actives made the pledges put a prank. You had to. They, like, judged you on whether or not you did it. So, like, I don't do things half. You know, I planned the whole thing.
Drew Franklin
You're the mastermind behind the entire.
Shannon The Dude
This was an ocean. We got boys founding. I planned it. We took Shannon. We had some people that were, you know, inclined to do handyman stuff.
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Shannon The Dude
They took handcuffs and a chain, locked the two doors together. They had to measure it, right.
Drew Franklin
Very calculated.
Shannon The Dude
Yes. We made the windows to where, like, they were covered so they couldn't see us going. We got grasshopper and mice and let it out on the chapter hall. And crickets. What are you laughing at?
Billy Rutledge
This is very elaborate. Daniel Ocean over here.
Shannon The Dude
We built a concrete wall to where they couldn't walk into the dorm hall.
Billy Rutledge
My goodness.
Shannon The Dude
And then we left.
Billy Rutledge
Where'd you go?
Shannon The Dude
Well, you were supposed to go away for 24 hours. The point was to, like, bond on the 24 hours. And then they had to come find you. But they didn't find us. And then they were really mad about it. And I'm like, you made us do this. I didn't do it out of pride.
Billy Rutledge
You spot it all yourself.
Shannon The Dude
You told us to do this.
Billy Rutledge
I didn't know you were such a bad boy in your youth.
Shannon The Dude
In hindsight, the fire hazard was something I didn't really think about.
Billy Rutledge
A few I'd like take back.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, I would never.
Billy Rutledge
Like still street sign or something.
Shannon The Dude
I did that too.
Billy Rutledge
Well, I was going to say if you were.
Drew Franklin
You do have to pass.
Billy Rutledge
You have to be careful. Like stop signs. You know you don't want to like, they need to be harmless. I'm not encouraging that.
Shannon The Dude
Let me be clear.
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Shannon The Dude
So when I was at Governor Scholar in Danville at Center College, a street sign had fallen.
Billy Rutledge
Oh, okay.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah.
Billy Rutledge
With that wrench in your hand and.
Shannon The Dude
Tall and I decided to bring it back to the.
Drew Franklin
You were just cleaning up.
Shannon The Dude
You could. That's one way to look at it.
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Shannon The Dude
The people that Governor Scholars didn't see it like that. Tall and I had to go along with two other guys and apologize to the Danville City Council. They stood us up. They stood us up there for public.
Billy Rutledge
Shaming, just for trying to clean up the.
Shannon The Dude
And the newspaper did a story about it. They were like local or like, you know, out of town. Teens apologize for vagrants.
Drew Franklin
Corey Price, get on it. Find that article.
Shannon The Dude
It's on there. If you look at it, there's a picture of me and tall and these two other guys. Pre 2. Me too. That was his name. I don't remember the other guy's name. And we had to apologize to the Danville City.
Billy Rutledge
Did you all have like a bad nickname like the Governor Scholar 4 or anything like that? Just go around terrorizing towns?
Shannon The Dude
The nerd words. Yeah, that was. That was that. So. So yeah, you know, that's the vagrancy.
Caller
Yeah.
Billy Rutledge
I never would have done anything like that.
Shannon The Dude
New study says Lexington, Kentucky's morning commute is one of the three deadliest in America. There are more wrecks per capita during the Lexington, Kentucky morning commute than all but two cities in the United States. Only Baltimore and San Jose, California have more per capita wrecks in the morning than Lexington.
Billy Rutledge
I think I'm on this route, Winchester Road. I think we're a big part of it, but we have one spot and it. I don't think it's been fatal, but it's. You're coming off New circle on to Winchester Road, and it feels like there should be a merge lane and there's not. Just the other day, I'm at the red light, just hear a loud bang. I don't have to look. It's just like another one. There was another wreck in that one.
Shannon The Dude
Spot where they're there, Max. It is when it comes comes to like, no lights.
Billy Rutledge
Buckle up, put your phone down.
Shannon The Dude
No law, no street signs. It's like, come on Winchester Road on your own risk and good luck, sir.
Billy Rutledge
In front of my neighborhood, when I'm turning on to Winchester Road, when I get a green, I have to wait a couple seconds because someone will just barrel through a Red. I don't mean it was yellow. And you're trying to beat it. It could be red for five seconds. I don't know if they don't see it, but they'll cut you in half if you're not paying attention.
Shannon The Dude
Leavestown Road, I think, has decided to just go down to a half lane. There was a time it felt like there were six lanes. They claimed to be expanding, but now when I drive through, it's basically a ferry.
Billy Rutledge
I haven't lived over there in a while.
Shannon The Dude
Where's the ferry to get from one side of New Circle to the other? It's. There's no lanes left anymore.
Billy Rutledge
We're running out of roads.
Shannon The Dude
So do you. You think that's probably correct about Lexington's morning commute?
Billy Rutledge
Probably. I mean, we have a mess. I just named my part of town. I mean, there's others, as you said. I mean Newtown pike, you name it. There's parts of. Of Lexington all over that are horrible traffic.
Shannon The Dude
And give one more also a shout out to all my Gilded Age posse out there.
Drew Franklin
Are they.
Shannon The Dude
Oh, my goodness.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. A lot more.
Shannon The Dude
Amount of people that write me now and say either that they liked the Gilded Age before or that they've started watching it. There's a lot of wives here who've been trying to convince their husbands to do it, and they use me talking about it as the excuse to do it. The amount of Gilded age love that is growing. They had the season finale Sunday. It was one of the highest rated. It was the highest rated in the show's history. They renewed it for a season four. I'm halfway through season two, so I'm still working through Bertha's trying to get her box at the Metropolitan at the Opera. And I don't know how that's going to play out. So no spoiler.
Billy Rutledge
Like Shannon.
Shannon The Dude
I.
Billy Rutledge
We just got to spoil a little bit. We're still on season one, episode one.
Drew Franklin
You should get some money from. From all these people. You're the first person I've ever heard talk about this. I didn't even know it existed until you talked about it.
Shannon The Dude
I didn't know it. It just kept popping up on my hbo. And finally I was like, why not? And it. Here's why. It's great. It's not about anything important. Right. It's just history.
Billy Rutledge
Right?
Shannon The Dude
Yeah. But it's also just about like, she wants to throw a ball. Will people come?
Billy Rutledge
Like social things.
Shannon The Dude
Y. It doesn't matter. And in a world where everything's so serious, I think I just like It. And I have a soft spot for old women that make snide comments about each other. I really enjoy that. I think it goes back to my Aunt Francis and Aunt Boots, Morgan Wallen's grandma.
Drew Franklin
So you were a big fan of the Golden Girls?
Shannon The Dude
Kind of. They used to sit there and smoke and just be like, sheila thinks she's pretty today, but she ain't. And I would just, as a kid just think that was the. Just some of the old women being snide and mean, gossiping about each other. Yeah. And they were all like. You know, they were. It was all like. I heard she was at the coffee shop staring at Frank. I just thought that stuff was great. This is a whole show of that.
Billy Rutledge
It's on my watch list. I need to catch up. I really do want to watch.
Shannon The Dude
I promise you, you'll like it. Let's go to Reed. What's up, Reed?
Caller
Good morning, guys. Longtime listener living Opalika, Alabama, Western Kentucky grad, and I signed up for my sports Classic tickets yesterday.
Shannon The Dude
Is that the. Is that UK St John's story?
Caller
It sure is. We'll be staying at the west and Feet Street Plaza, Atlanta.
Shannon The Dude
Well, I think that's gonna be a lot of fun. I think you're gonna see the debut of the denim uniforms at that game. I think you're gonna see. I think the UK St John's game is gonna just have like. I think you're gonna see a ton of former Patino era players at that game. UK alumni group in Atlanta is probably the best UK alumni group along with New York, in the country. And they'll have it rocking I I high. I think that's going to be an awesome, awesome game. So I think you made the right decision.
Caller
Yes, Siri, it was like 23.76, which is nothing, but this is a once in a lifetime. We live in Opelika anyway, so it's not a very long drive to Atlanta, so that's great. So I'm.
Shannon The Dude
Well, I appreciate the call. We're going to be there. I think. I mean, normally that last game before Christmas is not a game that I think is great to go on the road for, but this year it's going to be different being in Atlanta. Rick and say, and you know, they could be. You look at their schedule, they could be number one or two in the country coming into that game. I just think it's good. It's going to be awesome. I think that's. That has the potential to be the environment of the year for Kentucky basketball.
Billy Rutledge
Completely agree I was there a couple of years ago in Atlanta for the CBS Classic. The Notre Dame or Notre Dame North Carolina game. That was real close. Dillingham, shepherd, that bunch and that arena was one of the best I've seen of any of these events. We do Champions Classic. That was cbs. Any of these one off games, that place was on fire. I think there's a hunger from the people that used to go the SEC tournament there. Even though Nashville's better, he had that long connection with Atlanta and I think it'll be crazy again this December with Rick.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, if I, if I was sitting at home and I was going, okay, I want to go to one, I want to take one UK basketball trip this year. There's no doubt I would pick that. I would. I just think, you know, they go to New York. I love playing in New York. I'm going to try to go to that game. That's the. Is that the CBS Classic game against. Who do we play this year? We play Ohio State?
Billy Rutledge
No, we played them last year.
Drew Franklin
Who's North Carolina?
Billy Rutledge
St. John's sorry. Yeah, they replaced UCLA.
Shannon The Dude
That's the CBS throwing off.
Billy Rutledge
So we got Nashville and Gonzaga is the other one that if you were.
Shannon The Dude
Considering New York is Michigan State Champions, Champions, Classics. Right? Yeah. So there's a lot of good choice. Actually. They're all good choices this year. But I think the Atlanta one I'm just, I'm just excited about. I think it's gonna be fun playing against Rick. I do. I think you think he gets. Gets applause. He will, he will.
Billy Rutledge
Also their star player is going to be Bryce Hopkins. I know that's not quite the reunion of a Rick Patino reunion, but just another angle of that game that makes it probably the best on the schedule.
Shannon The Dude
Drew, tell me about Stockton, Morgan.
Billy Rutledge
Stockton, Morgan. They're growing. They have locations all over Kentucky. They're growing so fast. I can't even tell you how many are Kentucky. Whatever Ryan said last time, there's probably more. Check them out. Stocktonmortgage.com for all your home loan needs. It's a great time to buy.

Welcome back, Techie Sports Radio. 859-280-2287. Couple open lines. It's technically an ask anything Wednesday, although I don't think I said that, so we'll probably do that tomorrow as well. But couple open lines, give a shout. 859-280-2287. Let me give you an example of the kind of thing I like on Facebook. This is from someone. I'm not gonna say the name of the restaurant or else you'll know the town.
Caller
Okay.
Shannon The Dude
But it just. This is from someone on my Facebook. I just got a message to someone and they will know who it is, but I'm not saying their name. If you think your husband is cheating on you, he is. Just go to. And then she mentions the restaurant on any Wednesday night and look what he's doing. You'll thank me later. See, that's why I like Facebook.
Billy Rutledge
It's good entertainment. There used to be. And it was, it was, it got a little out of hand. It got deleted. But like topics in a small town. Remember I would recap them on ksr. I'd pick a town and just do the top five topics.
Drew Franklin
It's kind of like speak your piece and text form.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
You know.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah. Well, I mean, first of all, when I was growing up, I don't know about you all, I didn't know how many people cheated on each other. But one trip to topics and you realize all, you know, all of Lincoln County's cheating. It's just a matter of like where you got to go to catch them.
Billy Rutledge
Just calling people out with first names. Like, we don't know any of the parties involved.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah.
Billy Rutledge
It's just, you know, just reading the chaos.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah. And the Lincoln in Lincoln county, they'd go to Garrett county to cheat.
Billy Rutledge
But.
Shannon The Dude
All you gotta do is just cross the state, the county line and you'll see it. That's what, that's what I like. The UK basketball schedule is now completely out, including the non conference. Are you, are you excited? They announced the uk. The final thing for the uk, what's it called?
Billy Rutledge
The BBN United.
Shannon The Dude
Which after that new thing.
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Shannon The Dude
Okay, so it's like Nicholls State, Valpo, Eastern Illinois. Eastern Illinois. Hopefully we'll be able to retain our BBN United. They change the name of that every year, don't they?
Billy Rutledge
So last year I kind of in mocking it was really playing up the BBN Invitational. I mean I was really into it. Even asked the players about it after the game and they were like, what is this guy talking about? But KSR went all in on the BB Invitational. We want it. I'm surprised they didn't cut the nets, but whatever. This year, the BBN United Tip Off Classic presented by Kentucky Tourism is staying in Lexington.
Shannon The Dude
How many things have they named it over?
Billy Rutledge
I think it's different every year. It's been Adolph Rupping, Class Bill Kitely, Kite Lee, maybe even a Joby was.
Shannon The Dude
Oh, there was a B. There's been. And it was. Last year was just the BBN Invitational. This year's a little bigger because we're going to unite bbn.
Billy Rutledge
I'm a little worried about getting distracted because there's three games in the BBN United Tip Off Classic presented by Kentucky Tourism. But after two of them is the Louisville game. And then you have the BBN United Tip Off Classic.
Shannon The Dude
Tourism distracted for the final against Eastern Illinois by Louisville.
Billy Rutledge
I hate that you sandwich that. You almost have to pick, do I want to win the Louisville game or.
Shannon The Dude
Do I want to win the BB.
Billy Rutledge
And United Tip Off Classic presented by Kentucky Tourism. And at that point in the season, you're still figuring things out now worry it's too much on their plate in the first two weeks of November.
Shannon The Dude
Let's play a game. What state is Nichols State?
Billy Rutledge
Man?
Shannon The Dude
Because as my grandfather would say, ain't no state. Nichols. What state is. Is Nichols State in blind guests couldn't.
Billy Rutledge
Even tell you part of the country. I will say Pennsylvania.
Shannon The Dude
All right, Shannon, what state is. Is Nichols State in Nebraska? Nebraska did. Just to think about your mindset, was that just because it starts with an N. It starts with I knew. I knew that's what you're going to do.
Drew Franklin
New York or New Jersey.
Shannon The Dude
Well, it's like when people. I would say I went to Transylvania and people go, is that in Pennsylvania? And I'd say you just think because it ends in Sylvania, it's in the same thing. No, it is in Louisiana.
Drew Franklin
My second guess, Thibodeau.
Shannon The Dude
Louisiana. So that is who we play for it is known for their have one of the best best programs in America at Geomatics. Which begs the question, what is Geomatics?
Billy Rutledge
So much to learn here. Lots on pack.
Shannon The Dude
Do we know what Geomatic is?
Billy Rutledge
What is their logo? I know nothing about nickels.
Shannon The Dude
Geomatics is the science and technology of acquiring and managing spatial information about the earth's surface.
Billy Rutledge
Okay. Seems so.
Shannon The Dude
When they come here, they might be distracted by going outside and analyzing our soil.
Billy Rutledge
The limestone is going to blow their mind.
Drew Franklin
Drew can check on on the post game. He'll be out there.
Billy Rutledge
I'll be out there on the soil. Out there with me in the new Gatton park. Who get in park. That might be a new spot for.
Shannon The Dude
They'll be in the uniform just digging in the soil and going, wow. The composition of this is truly amazing. Free bird. Go ahead, Freebird.
Billy Rutledge
Hey, guys.
Caller
Just up here working in Augusta on my birthday. Enjoyed the remote on Friday. And I've got a question for all of y'. All. I was listening earlier this morning to Tom Leach's show, which old Shannon dude produced, I would imagine. He said there was a guy back when Kentucky played in the great Alaska Shootout that didn't like the drive or, excuse me, fly. He drove from Pikeville, Kentucky, all the way to Anchorage. So whatever you guys are passionate about, whether it's Kentucky baseball, concerts, whatever, how far would you all drive? And I think a couple of y'.
Shannon The Dude
All would not even drive.
Caller
Hardly that.
Shannon The Dude
Any distance I've driven. I'm not. I mean, truck drivers have driven more than me. But I would venture to say no radio host in America, except maybe Charles Coralt, has driven more than I have. I would. So the answer to your question is I would drive anywhere. Would I drive to Anchorage? Yes. I just. Without question of fact, I'd like to. I think it would be fun.
Billy Rutledge
Don't give him any ideas.
Shannon The Dude
So. So, yeah, I appreciate the call. I would drive. I've driven anywhere you can go that's safe. I've driven there.
Drew Franklin
I hate.
Billy Rutledge
We're not a year removed from driving to Seattle.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, we drove to Seattle.
Billy Rutledge
It's about as far as you can go from here.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah. So I appreciate the call. I know you all hate it. Yeah, I drove from Newfoundland all the way to Vancouver, all in Canada. So I love to drive.
Billy Rutledge
I don't hate it. I just like to make fun of you. I enjoy it.
Shannon The Dude
Kevin. Go ahead. Kevin.
Caller
Hey, I gotta ask anything question. But first, if you don't think anyone's cheating in Louisville, just walk Iroquois park one time and it'll change your mind.
Shannon The Dude
Oh, is that the cheating part?
Caller
I think all public parks, that's just the one I use. But I mean if you take, if it's 100 degrees out, you're sitting on a patio table and there's still two different cars to sit in 100 degree weather at a distance.
Shannon The Dude
You know what it is? Yeah.
Caller
As soon as I left my phone.
Shannon The Dude
Towards give your question real quick because we only have 30 seconds, it'll cut me off.
Caller
The 1992 Dream Team, they were so dominant, but do you think they still would have won the gold medal if Chuck Daly only could play four players at any given time?
Shannon The Dude
That's an interesting question. No, but that's a. I like that.
Billy Rutledge
They'd win a few.
Shannon The Dude
They'd win, but they wouldn't win them all. TJ Smith, personal injury attorney.
Billy Rutledge

Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Shannon The Dude
Welcome back Techie Sports Radio. This segment sponsored by Noche Linda Farms. Guess what? They're now the official beef provider of KS Bar. When we come when you come back on August 26, we now have smash burgers. You know, that's the we've got them. They're really good. I tried them out. We tried like six different kinds of meat and we decided to go with no Ch Linda. We thought it was the best. Mr. Not just that, not just because of this. Literally we blind tasted them and I think five of the six of us blind tasted pick. No Chalen. I think the six had it second. So we were like let's go for it. You can get it at home. Noche linda farms.com you can get delivered to you. It quickly makes the it's the best beef you could have in the area. It's what we're going to be using at KS Bar. You can come try it at KS Bar or order at Noche linda farms.com a Kentucky company at Noche Linda Farms. Literally when they said they wanted to do it, I was like, I'd love to pick them but it's got to be like the best one of the group. And then we do the thing. We have six people, six different entities and no chay Linda Farms wins blind taste test. It's pretty awesome.
Billy Rutledge
Steve knows what he's doing.
Shannon The Dude
The new burger is going to is is we our burgers were kind of sometimes they were good, sometimes they weren't. These.
Drew Franklin
It's going to be consistently good.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, I mean that's the big open thing about when we reopen. I'll talk more about this another time. But we just needed to be more consistent. Sort of like Ryan Lemon.
Drew Franklin
That's right.
Shannon The Dude
And. And this. And we. Something. Just a couple items just need to be better. And that's what we did. Corey Price found that article.
Drew Franklin
Of course he did.
Billy Rutledge
I mean, impressive work.
Drew Franklin
Are you surprised?
Shannon The Dude
But it doesn't even have my name in it. And he found it.
Billy Rutledge
That's good. They had to. They had to protect these.
Shannon The Dude
That is amazing. So here, I'll give you just a quick thing of the story. A group of governor scholars came to Tuesday's meeting of the Danville city Commission to say they enjoyed five weeks in Danville. A spokesman for the nine young men. Shannon. That was me.
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Shannon The Dude
Said they had, quote, done something out of bounds. It makes it sound a lot worse.
Billy Rutledge
Said, you have done something out of bounds.
Shannon The Dude
Makes it sound a lot more scandalous than it was. Did I really get up there and go, we did something out of bounds?
Drew Franklin
Interesting choice of words.
Shannon The Dude
What the out of bounds activity was. Was never revealed. Oh, wow.
Drew Franklin
It makes it even worse.
Shannon The Dude
I cannot believe Corey found this. The nine young. The nine young men are studying the governor's scholar program in center as a way to make amends. They got up their nerve and asked Mayor John W.D. bowling to declare a governor's scholars day. That was pretty bold of us.
Billy Rutledge
You're in trouble and then you want your own day.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, like, how does that even work?
Shannon The Dude
Coming in, taking over the whole town. That's right. We committed vagrancy. And then I was like, name us a day.
Billy Rutledge
Celebrate us.
Drew Franklin
Came in and plead guilty and said, now name the day after us.
Shannon The Dude
And he did. They also learned more about the city. Visited the fire station. I didn't remember that we visited the fire station. The teenagers who will be high school seniors this fall report presented a plaque. I do remember this. The students had to put up with some kidding for one of the commissioners, Commissioner Bunny Davis. His name was Bunny. He got up and said. He said eight of the nine young men were athletes. I think I was one of the eight.
Billy Rutledge
Eight of the nine athletes.
Shannon The Dude
I think I know the one I'm plates. I think it was pre two. Me too. That was not the athlete. And Bunny said, too many athletes graduate. Oh, Lordy. Instead of magna cum laude.
Billy Rutledge
Oh, wow. What a line by Bunny. Oh, Lord.
Shannon The Dude
Buddy had jokes. So. Yeah. I can't believe you found that. Corey. That's pretty amazing.
Billy Rutledge
It says that they. And they urged you to vote and be Interested in your community? Did you walk away interested in your own community?
Shannon The Dude
I do vote and I am interested in my community.
Billy Rutledge
Lesson learned.
Shannon The Dude
Lesson learned. I want to play something real quick here. This is one of the all time your brother completely destroys you unintentionally moments. You remember Michael Porter that played at Missouri?
Billy Rutledge
I do.
Shannon The Dude
His brother is what? John Tay Jonte may be going to prison for gambling on basketball. He's been kicked out of the league now, Shannon, that's bad enough. Yeah, right?
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Shannon The Dude
Michael Porter does an interview and I think found a way to make it worse for his brother. Go ahead and play.
G
Because everybody has different things that they struggle with that can go from people that struggle with alcohol, people that struggle with drugs. You know, my brother, for example, struggled with gambling. My vice has always come in the form of women. And when I'm far from God and like, I'm not in my word, I'm not praying, I'm not prioritizing him. Like, that seems to be the place that the devil gets me is in the space of women. And I know that's a lot of people in my shoes, you know, I know it's a lot of. A lot of people in my lifestyle or whatever. That's something that comes up a lot. But I've never viewed that as okay. I don't think objectifying women. I don't think being with women all the time and, and sleeping around and doing stuff like that is cool. And I haven't necessarily been doing that. But nevertheless, like, women has always been my vice. Right. I got two younger brothers that are married. I got two other sisters that are married. I'm the only one that's not married. And I feel like God kind of gives you what you're prepared to handle. And so far in my life, like a good woman, like, I don't think I'm ready to handle that because I'm all over the place. Sometimes I'm good and sometimes I'm. I'm not. You know what I mean? And I feel like this, this cycle of being good with God and bad with God has poured over into me not being able to really lock in and be living the Christian walk in that area of my life. My brother Jonte, he never seemed to struggle with that, that vice. You know, I never struggled with the gambling addiction. I never, I never struggle with that vice. Guy gave me a lot of money because maybe he figured I could handle it and not, you know, lose myself in that area and. All right, maybe John, first of all.
Shannon The Dude
What, you know, when Michael Porter was in college, he was known as being like insanely arrogant. Right. His teammates didn't get along with. A lot of those comments are great. Like, he basically is like, yeah, I just, I get too many women.
Billy Rutledge
He doesn't womanize.
Shannon The Dude
He does. I don't womanize, but like, I can't keep up with, I can't keep up with all these women. What am I supposed to do?
Billy Rutledge
I'm only human.
Shannon The Dude
What do you want? I only have all this money. Like, what do you want me to do? I just can't. I. There's just too many women. What do you want me to do? My brother, he doesn't have to worry about that. I mean, it's just like, it's like my brother, it's never an issue for him.
Billy Rutledge
Well, it's not going to be an issue for him moving forward.
Shannon The Dude
I just. Shannon, do you not think that's a crazy thing to come on there and say?
Drew Franklin
Didn't he say his brother is though married? So I guess he's not sleeping around with other women. I didn't take it really as a big slide against his brother like everybody else.
Shannon The Dude
What did you take it as?
Drew Franklin
Well, he's a, he's a one woman man. He's not sleeping around. He doesn't have to have that.
Shannon The Dude
But don't you think it was a little arrogant to come on there and be like, I just got too many women? Yeah. Yeah.
Drew Franklin
Well, yeah, it was. That part of it was arrogant. Yeah.
Shannon The Dude
Yes.
Drew Franklin
I didn't think he was throwing his brother.
Shannon The Dude
I mean, it's like, God bless me with money.
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Shannon The Dude
And he also said God blessed him with money. And he was like, my brother can't handle.
Billy Rutledge
Yeah. God gave it to me.
Shannon The Dude
God gave the money to me because I know how to handle it.
Billy Rutledge
He just gave me a few too many women.
Shannon The Dude
He made me too good looking. That was the problem.
Billy Rutledge
I believe he has significant interest in women because when he was on his Kentucky visit, a clip went viral.
Shannon The Dude
Yes.
Billy Rutledge
Cameras caught him where he's pointing someone out and he says, look at that baddie when he's on the bench and everybody was trying to wonder who was pointing at in the crowd.
Shannon The Dude
That was a famous game when he was here. He. That, that was like a campus thing. He pointed at someone in the crowd and like all the people were trying to figure out which woman.
Billy Rutledge
He might even been on Missouri's bench at the time. But in rup, he got caught scanning the crowd.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah. It's a problem for him.
Billy Rutledge
I'll pray for him also. Your Brother's going to prison. You're just dancing on him, saying he, you know, didn't have the same problem.
Shannon The Dude
You're just like, hey, I can't. You know, I can't deal with it. David, Louisville. Go ahead, Dave.
Caller
Thanks for taking my call again, fellas. I got a couple of two part questions here. First off, where are y' all going to be at the state fair? Do you know where you're going to be located? South of this question. South wing sounds great. The second part of this, and you guys may have heard this or not. If you guys were a spirit animal, what spirit animal would you be? And I'm gonna hang up and listen, and we'll see you guys at the south wing. Thank you, guys.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, I don't know enough about animals because I don't like them. So probably one that is just like.
Drew Franklin
You'd be like a little poodle. You yap a lot.
Shannon The Dude
What was that? Doesn't even sound like a. Is that your first nation to me? Is that what you think I sound like?
Drew Franklin
You being a poodle, that's you as a poodle. It's your spirit animal.
Shannon The Dude
First of all, Is that even how a poodle sounds?
Drew Franklin
That's how you as a poodle would sound, Like a humanized.
Shannon The Dude
This is what happens, you know, Ryan leaves. There are no games. Shannon's over here calling me a poodle.
Drew Franklin
Well, okay, then you pick yours.
Shannon The Dude
No, I'm fine. I think that one works. Raven. Go ahead, Raven. Raven. I was kind of excited about talking someone named Raven. All right, let's go to Gatlin, the Gatlin boys. What's up, Gatlin?
Caller
Hey, how you doing? First time caller who I heard. I heard the guy listen every day, and I heard the guy mention a man drove from Pikeville, Kentucky. And I just wanted to say that I was in that vehicle. I was five years old. That was my dad.
Shannon The Dude
Oh, wow.
Caller
Dad. My mom drove us all the way from Pockville to Anchorage to watch Kentucky in the great Alaska Shootout.
Shannon The Dude
So how long did the trip take?
Caller
It took five days down, six days back.
Shannon The Dude
Wow. So you got that. You drove all the way there, watch the games, turn right around and came back?
Caller
Pretty much, yeah. We got to. We got to eat Thanksgiving dinner with the team. They asked me who my favorite player was. I said, steve Mazziello. I don't even think he got.
Shannon The Dude
What do you mean? What do you mean? You got to ask? Got to eat with the team. Did you all, like, have a connection, or were they just impressed you made the Trip?
Caller
No, they were just impressed we made the trip. They had heard my dad was on the radio, I think, with Ralph Hacker. I was real little, but they had heard and we stayed at the same hotel.
Shannon The Dude
That's awesome. That's a cool story. I that. So they heard you made the trip and then brought you on. Well, that's really neat. That's a very UK basketball story. Well, I appreciate you sharing it, Gatlin.
Caller
I thought so, too. I had to. Had to tell you all. I've always wanted to call in and mention that. So that guy kind of did it for me.
Shannon The Dude
So that's perfect. Well, I had to be weird. You're sitting there listening to the guy talks about you. I appreciate the call.
Drew Franklin
Drove all the way out to la. We didn't get to eat with the team and we turned right around, too. We immediately turned around.
Shannon The Dude
We didn't eat. We went to the game. Yeah. For people who don't remember, we drove to la, went to the game.
Caller
Yeah.
Shannon The Dude
Shannon asked if we could go to.
Drew Franklin
The viper room for 10 minutes.
Shannon The Dude
We went to the Viper room for like 20 minutes, turned right around and came back.
Drew Franklin
I think it was 20.
Billy Rutledge
I remember being in the arena and people had been following the trip. They're like, what have you done in LA so far? No, we drove straight to the Poly Pavilion. Like, this is us getting to la.
Shannon The Dude
Is the game starting right up in la?
Billy Rutledge
No, I'm looking at the map to Anchorage.
Shannon The Dude
How do you get there?
Billy Rutledge
This goes through North Dakota and then you're up into Canada. Then you go through Edmonton, but it's driving straight through would be 66 hours one way. So if they did it in five days, you're still hauling it to get there.
Shannon The Dude
When you think about stopping and sleeping 66 hours, five days, that means they put in some days. I mean, they put in like 12 and a half hour driving days.
Billy Rutledge
I'm looking at like, our trip to Seattle would be about half of what they did. And we flew back, they turned around and drove back.
Shannon The Dude
All right, next summer, driving, we have a reason.
Billy Rutledge
Are we playing there?
Shannon The Dude
We're going to go to Pikeville and then we're going to recreate the journey to see Ramon Harris, Alaskan assassin. We'll take a break. Be right back. Kentucky Sports Radio.
Matt Jones

Welcome back Techie Sports Radio. I found this kind of interesting. I just saw this online. Apparently there are 35 elected either federal politicians or state governors that have their own podcast. Okay 35. One of whom is our governor, Andy Beshear. All right, would you like to know who has the most listens of any elected persons? Podcast?
Billy Rutledge
Does Pelosi have a stock tips podcast? Because I would listen to that.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah. That would break the bank. Literally the most is Ted Cruz, who has 1.4 million monthly downloads. That is a lot. Who is listening to Ted Cruz?
Billy Rutledge
That's a lot higher than I would think any politician.
Shannon The Dude
Me too. Gavin Newsom, second. 500,000. So Cruz has got him by a million. All right, Dan Crenshaw, that's a representative, has 370,000. He's third. So what if I told you that Andy Beshear has the fourth most of anyone in the country? Shannon, that sounds pretty good, right?
Drew Franklin
That's pretty impressive. Yeah.
Shannon The Dude
Fourth most in the country of any politician. Guess how many monthly downloads third had.
Billy Rutledge
300,000.
Shannon The Dude
Third was 366,000.
Drew Franklin
You'd say quarter million.
Shannon The Dude
7,300.
Drew Franklin
What a drop off.
Shannon The Dude
Yes, and that's the fourth biggest in the country. Now, just for comparison sake, every hour of KSR gets significantly more than that. Let me go farther. Representative Troy Carter does a weekly podcast. I don't know who that is, but it's called what Makes America Tick. So presumably in a month he had four episodes. Guess what? His total downloads for a month is doing four episodes a week called what Makes America Tick?
Billy Rutledge
500.
Shannon The Dude
Shannon? 453.
Billy Rutledge
All right, just stop. Go do something. That's a group text. You can share all those opinions with those people without having a podcast.
Shannon The Dude
That's a group text. There will be more people at a remote. Why would you keep doing that?
Drew Franklin
You're just talking to yourself out loud.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, yeah.
Billy Rutledge
Presumably a few of those. Or maybe whoever uploaded it produced it. Mom and dad aren't gonna miss an episode.
Drew Franklin
Refresh it a couple of times.
Billy Rutledge
All right, Good for him.
Shannon The Dude
So I think what this says is, unless you're Ted Cruz, Gavin Newsome, or Dan Crenshaw, maybe you should just.
Billy Rutledge
I'm actually impressed by Ted. That's good numbers. I wouldn't think a politician would have an entertaining podcast. Maybe it's not, but that is.
Shannon The Dude
That's a lot. Somebody likes it. Clearly. Let's go to Todd. Go ahead, Todd.
Caller
Hey, good morning, man. I live in Florida. I'm from Berea. But I enjoy your show and appreciate it. My question is, how come you don't host the Paul Fine Bomb show anymore?
Shannon The Dude
They kicked me off. What was the language I used for the other thing we did? We did something out of bounds. Drew and I did something out of bat. No, we were on there one time and we just, we were talking, you know, you have to sit and talk about the other teams. And I said that Missouri's Kwanzo Martin shouldn't be the coach anymore because I didn't think he was good enough for the new sec. The Missouri AD got mad, called the SEC network and I was banned from hosting. And then the Missouri ID the next year fired Quanzo Martin. But for whatever reason, it sort of stayed in the SEC world that I was kind of Persona non grata. And then I think over time I talked about it. I think it made Fine Bomb a little. Like I don't think he loved that I talked about it and now I think they'd probably let me be on it. But now I just think Paul won't let me be on it. So, you know, I enjoyed it. I had a lot of fun doing it. But that's why.
Caller
Well, I enjoyed listening to, I mean I listened to you guys every day and I appreciate it. But I enjoyed you being hosting the show when I thought you did a good job.
Shannon The Dude
Well, thank you. I did. The Fine bomb show is how I got my ESPN gig was the day we had to host when the there was that scandal at Ohio State. The Fine bomb show is also how I ended up in the hospital.
Billy Rutledge
You've had quite a ride. Totally hosted it a few times.
Shannon The Dude
The Fine bomb show, when I lost my voice and Fein Bomb was going to have me host for the first time in like five years, I thought it was my chance to get to come back. I lost my voice. I drank all this water to try to get my voice back and I ended up with water intoxication which sounds like a made up illness. And I ended up in the hospital. And then I had all that blood pressure problems which led to my anxiety problems. Like all of that comes from stupid ass Paul. Fine Bomb.
Billy Rutledge
You don't even get call anymore.
Shannon The Dude
It comes from Quanzo Martin because if it wasn't for Quanzo Martin, I wouldn't have felt the need to host. I could have just sat there, not drink all that water.
Billy Rutledge
Butterfly effect to Quanzo Martin. He changed everything.
Shannon The Dude
Quanzo Martin causing all those problems. Bob and Jamestown. I really wanted to get to you, but Shannon said there wasn't time. I will see you back here tomorrow. This is me at Kentucky Sports Radio.

Release Date: August 13, 2025
Host(s): Matt Jones, Shannon "The Dude," Drew Franklin, Billy Rutledge
Presented by: iHeartPodcasts and Sports Talk 790 (WKRD-AM)
The second hour of Kentucky Sports Radio (KSR) kicks off with Matt Jones promoting the summer hit, Ice Cube's Big Three. He highlights the intense, competitive basketball action set to air on CBS, emphasizing the high stakes as teams vie for playoff spots. The segment sets an energetic tone for the episode.
Matt Jones [00:00]: "Ice Cube's Big Three is the surprise hit of the summer. This Saturday, 4pm Eastern on CBS... the no holds barred action starts Saturday at 4pm Eastern, 1pm Pacific."
Shannon "The Dude" initiates a discussion contrasting the positive interactions on the podcast's text machine with the often hostile environment on Twitter. The conversation delves into how anonymous platforms can influence user behavior, with Shannon expressing a preference for the constructive feedback received through text.
Shannon The Dude [02:50]: "The text machine is infinitely nicer in its comments than Twitter... Twitter brings out the worst of humanity."
Billy Rutledge concurs, noting a decline in personal engagement with Twitter due to its negative atmosphere.
Billy Rutledge [03:20]: "Yes, like, and it's gotten much worse. I'm not on it nearly as much."
The hosts shift focus to Lexington's morning commute, citing a new study that ranks it as one of the deadliest in America. They discuss specific problematic areas like Winchester Road and Leavestown Road, sharing personal anecdotes about frequent accidents and traffic inefficiencies.
Caller [09:16]: "A new study says Lexington, Kentucky's morning commute is one of the three deadliest in America."
Shannon and Billy highlight the lack of merge lanes and the dangers of running red lights, emphasizing the urgent need for infrastructure improvements.
Billy Rutledge [10:10]: "You're trying to beat it. It could be red for five seconds... they'll cut you in half if you're not paying attention."
A significant portion of the episode centers on the University of Kentucky (UK) basketball schedule. Shannon discusses the excitement surrounding the upcoming CBS Classic game against St. John's, anticipating the debut of new denim uniforms and the presence of former Patino-era players.
Shannon The Dude [12:17]: "The amount of Gilded Age love that is growing. They had the season finale Sunday... I don't know how that's going to play out. So no spoiler."
Billy Rutledge reminisces about past CBS Classic events, praising the venue and anticipating a high-energy game that could significantly impact Kentucky's season.
Billy Rutledge [15:06]: "They had that long connection with Atlanta and I think it'll be crazy again this December with Rick."
Shannon shares a personal story from his time as a Governor Scholar in Danville, illustrating a humorous yet poignant moment when he and fellow scholars requested the declaration of a "Governor's Scholars Day." This tale underscores the show's community-focused ethos and the importance of local engagement.
Shannon The Dude [30:04]: "A group of governor scholars came to Tuesday's meeting of the Danville City Commission... That's pretty bold of us."
Listeners like Reed and Gatlin contribute by sharing their experiences and enthusiasm for upcoming UK events, fostering a sense of camaraderie among the audience.
Caller Reed [13:34]: "Good morning, guys. Longtime listener living Opalika, Alabama... we'll be staying at the West and Feet Street Plaza, Atlanta."
A heated segment unfolds as the hosts discuss an interview with Michael Porter regarding his brother Jonte's gambling issues. Shannon "The Dude" criticizes Porter's remarks, highlighting perceived arrogance and the negative portrayal of his brother.
Shannon The Dude [32:29]: "He does. I don't womanize, but I can't keep up with all these women... It was a little arrogant to come on there and be like, I just got too many women."
The hosts debate the ethics and impact of Porter's comments, reflecting on the personal and professional repercussions for those involved.
Billy Rutledge [35:55]: "He doesn't have the same problem. He does."
Interspersed throughout the episode are brief advertisements promoting various sponsors. Notably, Drew Franklin and Shannon The Dude endorse products like Gatorade Zero and Stockton Mortgage, seamlessly integrating sponsorships into the conversation.
Drew Franklin [20:11]: "Gatorade zero. The number one proven electrolyte blend made with zero sugar, designed to hydrate better than water."
Shannon presents an intriguing fact about political podcasts, revealing that Governor Andy Beshear ranks fourth in monthly downloads among U.S. politicians. This revelation sparks a discussion on the accessibility and popularity of political content compared to sports programming.
Shannon The Dude [44:09]: "Ted Cruz has 1.4 million monthly downloads... Andy Beshear has the fourth most in the country."
Billy Rutledge humorously critiques the limited reach of most political podcasts in comparison.
Billy Rutledge [45:08]: "That's a lot higher than I would think any politician."
The episode emphasizes KSR's commitment to listener interaction, with Shannon encouraging calls and sharing stories from the audience. Plans for future episodes include recreating the journey driven by a listener's father's trip to the Alaska Shootout, highlighting the show's dedication to engaging and entertaining its community.
Shannon The Dude [41:16]: "We're going to go to Pikeville and then we're going to recreate the journey to see Ramon Harris, Alaskan assassin."
As the hour wraps up, Matt Jones reiterates the excitement surrounding Ice Cube's Big Three, ensuring listeners are reminded of the upcoming broadcasts. The hosts briefly touch upon sponsored segments one last time, maintaining the show's balanced blend of content and promotions.
Matt Jones [50:00]: "There's no crying in the Big three and the no holds barred action starts Saturday at 4pm Eastern, 1pm Pacific."
Conclusion
