Welcome to hour two of Kentucky sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.
Matt Jones
Welcome back. It is hour number two at Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-280-2287. Text machine is 772-7745254. We are it's an Ask Anything Wednesday. Go ahead and get in with us. We'll go back to the phone here in just a second. Couple little tidbits I thought people would like. First of all, apropos of nothing, Ryan Shannon, nobody was talking the other day about who had the best rated show or anything like that. That was not something any radio host and you were feuding about, am I correct?
Mario
That's Correct. Yeah. Yeah. Not me.
Matt Jones
That was.
Mario
That was somebody.
Matt Jones
That would not have been you.
Mario
No, no.
Matt Jones
But just coincidentally, the. The ratings came out last week for Lexington and Louisville. I just want to give you a notion of. When we talk about, you know, sometimes you'll hear me say, this is like the highest rated radio show, not just in Kentucky, but in the country in sports. I just want to give you a sense of what that means. All right. In Lexington, we. They do it year over year. We were down 12%. But remember, that's from the John Calipari leaves. Mark Pope comes couple of months. Pretty big couple months.
Caller
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Highest rated couple months we ever had. This was still our second highest rated period in history behind that one. Okay. In Lexington, men 18 to 49, we had a 30. Now, let me give you a little perspective as to what a 30 means. In most places, you are considered, like, as a sports host, you are knocking it out of the park if you get like an 8. And we had a 30. We had a 16 in people. Not just men people. That includes women who listen to radio even more than men. We were first in every demographic, literally every single demographic in Louisville, 12. And the number one show in Louisville, including beating all the Louisville shows. I just say that to say thank you to the listeners. When we first started, I remember the first Louisville ratings book. We got like a four and a half and people. I remember Lachlan McLean famously came in, he didn't think I heard him. And he looked at Drew Deaner and said, well, he'll never get that again. What a fluke. That was 12 years ago. And now that four and a half is a 30. So we appreciate.
Mario
Yeah, a four, five. That's sort of typical. You could have a five and a half at certain day parts and be the number one station in your market.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Mario
So by comparison, of 30 compared to a six or a five is insane.
Matt Jones
And 11 in Louisville, when over half the city claims to hate us, is pretty good. So anyway, I just wanted to give you that just as a little perspective. It used to be I would obsess over those things. Like every time it came out, I'd be sitting there looking at it. Now, almost never look at them because we do get bonuses based on them, so I care about it from that. But we usually come in first every time, so I don't even have to look. But the. The numbers now are just stupid. I mean, that. That is just stupid. 30% of all radios in Lexington are listening to this show at any given point. That's crazy. Especially when you consider a lot of people don't even listen to the radio.
Shannon
So there's a podcast audience that doesn't.
Matt Jones
Even include the podcast or the streaming. That's people who are playing it over the years. This podcast and streaming is a different set of numbers.
Shannon
So sometimes when we go over this in a reminder of how many people are on the other end of this microphone, it makes you think, what did I say? What did I confess to not nervous?
Matt Jones
Well, you confessed how bougie you are. For one thing.
Shannon
I didn't plan to mention how do.
Matt Jones
You think he pays for his big bougie club? Yesterday, Billy and Mario got a little nervous. Shannon.
Mario
Oh, right.
Matt Jones
Never seen me in the tense interview world. It was Billy and Mario watching as I interviewed Andy Barr, which will air, which will go up on podcast tomorrow. First of all, thank you to Andy Barr for doing it. He was great. He handled all the questions. He did what people in those offices should do, which is sit down, get hard questions. We went back and forth. I interrupted him a few times, which people would. But you have to. Shane and if you don't interrupt these politicians, they'll just talk.
Caller
Right?
Mario
And that's the name of the show Interrupted by Matt Jones.
Matt Jones
That's the name.
Mario
So.
Matt Jones
But it was great. But Billy, I could see Billy on his face getting nervous because there's a back and forth on an issue where I go, yes or no? Can you say this? And he just keeps going and I'm like, yes or no? So I say, so you won't say yes or no. And the third time I do it, Billy looks at me like, oh. So I really thank him a lot for doing it. He, I think if you listen, he answers his questions, we a few times have to just agree to disagree. But I thought it was especially in today's world where people don't sit down with people from the other side. I did have respect for him, Drew, for doing it, even though a lot of his answers frustrate me. But that's okay. He still sat and did his thing.
Shannon
I knew it had a big impact on Billy because yesterday after you all did it, he told me the story of wanting to get it on the table. Then this morning he told me the story again and I had to remind him. He probably told me this, but it weighed on him that much that he's still bringing it up a day later.
Matt Jones
See, I didn't think it was tense at all because I'm used to conversations like that, but I just don't think Billy had seen Me in that setting, and it was a very closed space. It was just bar, his assistant, me, Mario and Billy just in a very small space. And I just think Billy got very nervous.
Shannon
Well, I can add. I was also in the building, sitting in this studio, working on my computer, and I heard it through the wall. So even though I wasn't in there, I also felt a little part of what was going on there. It did get louder at times.
Matt Jones
Yeah, but not loud. Not like shouting at each other.
Shannon
But, I mean, I could. I could pick up on some tension through the wall.
Matt Jones
Okay, well, I didn't think it was tense, but I can tell you who did. Bill.
Shannon
They'll probably tell me again after this show.
Matt Jones
Bobby, Go ahead, Bobby.
Caller
Hey, guys. How are y' all doing today?
Matt Jones
Good.
Caller
I got two quick questions, if that's okay.
Matt Jones
Go for it.
Caller
All right, so the first question. And I hate to do this while Ryan's not there, but can y' all go over maybe the roles and stats of what you all think Barry on Brown and Danky will do for Nebraska and lsu? And then the second question is, I'm really excited that y' all are gonna possibly have Randall Cobb on Yalls new show. And I was wondering. He's like my childhood here.
Matt Jones
Yeah, he's not. He's not gonna be rigged. I'm sure we'll have him on as a guest, but. No, he's not. He's not.
Caller
Okay.
Matt Jones
What I. What I said was they wanted me initially when they came to me with the show, the initial idea was, matt, why don't you do it with Randall Cobb? And I. And there's no offense to Randall, but I wanted to do it with Drew, and so I pushed for Drew, and then that's how it ended up with Drew. But I think Randall will be on as a guest some.
Caller
Drew is also my childhood hero, so I can accept that. But I'm just wondering if Randall. If you could get Randall Cobb on KSR or maybe even set up like a signing at your old.
Matt Jones
He'll probably come on to promote that thing. He's on Special.
Shannon
Special Forces.
Matt Jones
Special Forces. Whatever. So, yeah, we. We.
Caller
We'll.
Matt Jones
We'll. We'll see if we can. Right.
Caller
Because I'm also a Packers fan, so it kind of best of both worlds there.
Matt Jones
All right, I appreciate. Appreciate the call. Actually, I wanna. I want to put. Read you who is on the Special Forces show. We haven't done that yet. Right.
Shannon
We mentioned it briefly at Shady Rays.
Matt Jones
But did we mention everyone that was on it?
Shannon
As many as we could off top of our head. Go ahead.
Matt Jones
Well, no, no, never mind. If we've done it before, then we don't have to. We don't. Yeah.
Shannon
We mentioned Lex and Tony and Brittany Cartwright.
Matt Jones
Oh, that's right. Brianna. Chicken fry.
Shannon
Chicken fry.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Okay. Well, never mind.
Shannon
Is Johnny Manziel on there?
Matt Jones
Johnny Manziel is on.
Shannon
It's a good. It's a good cast if you want some. Just chaos. Doing special.
Matt Jones
Feel like Randall should be the favorite. He's gonna win. As far as the what I think Barry Brown and Dane Keel do. I don't know that Baron Brown will play a lot at wide receiver. He's. He's projected to be second string but I do think he'll be a big kick returner for him. But I mean I, I looked at an LSU website. They do not have him as a projected starter.
Shannon
Yeah, they're pretty loaded at receiver. He'll get looks. He won't be a guy like he was in Kentucky where, you know, they.
Matt Jones
Were pretty much forced surprising he would go. I mean he wanted the ball more here.
Caller
Yeah.
Matt Jones
That he would go to a place where he may get the ball less.
Shannon
No, I agree. You know, don't know exactly what happened there, but it was time for a fresh start on both ends with him. I think as a kick returner he will be very dynamic. We're just gonna have to accept we're gonna get a Baron Brown touchdown highlight in the LSU uniform.
Matt Jones
What about Dane Key?
Shannon
The quarterback there, Dylan Rail was. Still hasn't hit that level. Everyone thought he would. I think he had a little bit of a down last year, but if those two pan out, they could be something special.
Matt Jones
We heard anything like. Yeah, he'll be.
Shannon
He's in there. He's a top two guy. When he committed there, I mean he was assured he's going to get the look.
Matt Jones
We know what Ryan would say. Shannon Ryan would say he's going to be all Big Ten.
Mario
Oh, of course. Yeah. But he's his guy, you know. I understand that. So he's got a personal connection.
Matt Jones
I haven't really heard. I mean I don't. I don't read a lot of Nebraska sites, so I don't really know what. What, what the Nebraska situation.
Shannon
He's there to be. To be the guy. So he should be getting plenty of looks. They need Rail to take a big jump.
Matt Jones
Ben, Go ahead. Ben.
Caller
Hey, I, I text you a while ago on the KSR text machine about. I work. My family's the one that owns the safari company So I just thought I'd give you a couple tips before you head out.
Matt Jones
Oh, yeah, Give me a safari tip.
Caller
All right, well, you. If you're worried about being a manly man, just bring a couple dollars with you. You guys will have plenty of chances. You can just be the guy that, like, tips $5 for carrying everyone's bag or, like, do a couple.
Matt Jones
So I look manly by paying money. Okay, what else?
Caller
Yeah, there you go. But on the same time, be careful. The new, like, scam that's going around there is if you say you have a ride coming and it says Jones on a piece of paper, some local will write Jones on a piece of paper and try to get you to, like, give them money and get in their car. So just be careful of that. If you are trying to buy something, just lie and say you're from Canada. You'll get a better price on something than if you say you're from America. Ah.
Matt Jones
And then I've actually heard that before. Like, they think Americans have all the money, so. Shannon, I should be.
Caller
Yeah, maybe I could be from Sweden or Canada.
Matt Jones
I think I want to be sweet.
Mario
For the NFL like Drew.
Matt Jones
Well, then they'll think I have more money. Some. You know, me. No, no. Yeah. I'm trying to think what would be.
Caller
An actual serious point. Oh, sorry. Go ahead.
Matt Jones
No, go ahead.
Caller
I see a serious point. That number that I text you on, it's like, life happens. So if someone, you know, gets sick and you guys have, like. It's kind of a sketchy place in the world, something goes bad. So we do own a lot of stuff around there. So if you need some poll with something, then feel free to do me a favor.
Matt Jones
Send that again, like, right after. After you get the phone so I can save it. Okay.
Caller
Okay. All right.
Matt Jones
Appreciate it. Thank you very much. There you go. I also saw a thing that said, when you're in your little safari vehicle, don't make. Don't jump up and down or make big movements, because that's what you were.
Shannon
Going to be doing.
Mario
Yeah.
Matt Jones
I could see me flinging my arms, though, when I'm talking.
Shannon
Tell the story.
Matt Jones
So I'm gonna have to sit on my hands as I'm telling stories so that I don't attract a line.
Mario
Yeah, don't make eye contact with the lions.
Matt Jones
Hey, line. My man. My man. Calm down.
Mario
My main.
Matt Jones
My main. Well played, Shannon. Jacob. Go ahead. Jacob.
Caller
Hi, good morning, and I hope you all are doing well. Matt, I wanted to thank you for inspiring me to start walking more. Actually went on a 10 mile walk by the longest so far this past weekend. And I've lost like £30 this summer just from walking more. My question is, what motivated you to start?
Matt Jones
That's very kind of you. That's very kind of you to say. And I'm glad that you're doing that. You, you're going to be much healthier.
Caller
Actually, a couple questions like, what kind of like motivated you to get started on these long walks? Like how many miles a week on average do you walk and like, do you like map out your routes beforehand? But again, thank you so much for your inspiration.
Matt Jones
Appreciate it. You know, sometimes you just look at a picture of yourself. Like, I'm a. My weight fluctuates in my face like pretty big. So like I can. And my weight fluctuates in general. Pretty big. Like I'll go. I'm at one of my smallest weights now. But before I went to Europe last year, I was at one of my biggest. And so, you know, sometimes you still get a picture of yourself. Shannon, you're like, oh yeah, I need.
Mario
To do something about that.
Matt Jones
I need to do something. And then when I was in Europe, like you, you walk everywhere there. Like they don't cars, they're not as big into cars. They're trains and walking. So I just got used to walking. And I think you can also learn a city better when you're walking. Like, I know you New York really well because I walk it all the time. But then like when we were in Pittsburgh, I could never really figure out where I was in part because I wasn't walking to figure out where it was. You get a sense of where the city is.
Caller
So.
Matt Jones
Yeah. And as far as. Do I have a route? I definitely have a Louisville route. Louisville's such a. So much better of a walking city than Lexington. Lexington, it's just hard to walk here. I now have a Lexington route. Kind of go downtown by campus. I usually now do it at night. I've got like a seven mile loop that I can do. And then Louisville, usually up and down Bardstown Road into, you know, the Cherokee park, sometimes downtown. But yeah, I, I like it. It's just good for me because I. The gym. Going to the gym to me feels like going to war.
Shannon
It's the same thing.
Matt Jones
Like I loved Sunny, who was my trainer, and I'll still probably use her again. She was awesome. But like every time I went I was like, oh gosh. Whereas walking I find pleasant, especially like during this west coast trip for the Reds. Leave my House Shannon at 10 turn the Reds on the reds on the radio and then walk and listen. That's what I do. Don't miss your chance to play with and support Kentucky based charities with Commonwealth Causes. Queen of Hearts 5050 raffle takes place every Thursday. That's tomorrow. They said that's a $15,000 bottle down.
Mario
Yeah, $15,000 for a bottle.

Welcome back Techie Sports Radio 859-280-22 87 One thing that I found ridiculous in the news, Auburn has claimed four more national championships in football. They just said, all right, now we have nine and they picked random years. And we're like, if things were fair, we would have won it then.
Mario
Well, the basketball can claim like three or four more.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I mean they were like in 2004 we were on probation, but we still should have gotten it because now those rules are legal. And so they just gave themselves the title. They also gave themselves the title in like 1897 or something.
Shannon
Those are the ones you got to claim. Nobody can challenge it.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I feel like I'm challenging it. I don't think. First of all, I don't think anything starts before there was a tournament. Anytime it was just fat old men voting. It doesn't count. So for me, none of the national championships are valid until they started having at Least that BCS title game.
Mario
What about. They do have football, though. They have one.
Matt Jones
Except ours. Ours is good.
Mario
19 was it.
Matt Jones
Our 1951 is good. Yeah. Yeah. Because we won that. We won the Orange Bowl. I believe they do have one year.
Shannon
I, I think they can't just claim it. But they didn't get hosed pretty bad from the old men voting. Didn't they go undefeated one season and still they're like, yeah, it's too bad.
Matt Jones
You don't just get to say, so we win.
Shannon
I would hear them out on that one, though.
Matt Jones
You're gonna let them just say, we get to win that one?
Shannon
Just that one.
Mario
What about Central Florida? Didn't they go undefeated one year and they.
Matt Jones
Yeah, they're claiming it, too.
Shannon
It's a flawed system.
Matt Jones
You don't just get to claim, like, you don't just get to claim we won the title. You don't. You either won it or you didn't. I would argue nobody that want to vote at title one, but if we're going to say that you're going to do it, you, you, you have to have gotten something. It can't just be. Yeah. Looking back, feels like that was me. I can't just go back in history and go, yeah, we played Cook and Fleener in the high school tennis doubles championship. Yeah, we lost. But no, we're really one. Even though we really won in the eyes of the Lord.
Mario
Champions of life.
Matt Jones
Yeah. So me and Bobob, we're the. We're the. We're the champs now. You don't get to do that.
Shannon
I think we should try them.
Mario
We can get you a trophy.
Matt Jones
Which ones are we claiming?
Shannon
Well, the year we beat lsu, they went on to win the national championship. We're claiming a football, but as I see it, we beat LSU and they're.
Mario
The national champions 2015 in basketball.
Shannon
Well, Matt and I already tried to claim that one and ended up in court.
Matt Jones
Didn't we win the NIT one year when it was better than the ncaa? Allegedly.
Shannon
Well, the years we were on probation, we just created a tournament.
Matt Jones
Let's claim those. Yeah. You know what?
Shannon
Last year, the BBN Invitational was the national championship. And this year, the Kentucky Tip Off Classic, presented by Kentucky tourism, is the national championship titles.
Matt Jones
I can't believe they were just like, 2004. Yep, that's ours.
Shannon
They saw Trump calling in his golf championships.
Matt Jones
That's exactly why I think that's what they did. I still won the 2020 election. We still won the 2004 national championship. Is that A good one.
Shannon
I think it was the first time you've done your Donald on here.
Matt Jones
You're welcome, Tom. Go ahead, Tom.
Caller
Hey, guys, I just wanted to ask your opinion. I got a chance to watch the Tigers game last night against the Astros and was really disappointed at the end of the game. So both pitchers went scoreless six and seven innings. They bring in the bullpen, they go scoreless for a couple innings, and then they start in the 10th inning with putting the runner on second base. Tigers get the Astros out. Tigers get up, they put their guy on second base. Leadoff hitter hits a sacrifice fly, the guy goes to third. So the Astros walk, potentially their guy to try to set up.
Matt Jones
Yeah, they did that the other night with the Reds. Yeah, yeah. So we did that the other night.
Caller
What do you guys think about that new rule?
Matt Jones
I like it, but I. But it. But you're exactly. You just gave the scenario where it feels a little cheap, which is the starts on second sacrifice gets them. The third sacrifice gets them home. That does feel a little bit cheap. So I get it. I would say, for me, I think I like the runner being on because I think the extra innings can take way too long. I might say, Shannon, start them on first because you actually have to do something to get them. Now, I'm told the reason they didn't do it is they were like, that gives an advantage to a team that has a really fast guy that's there on first, and they can just steal second, and then they're in the same thing.
Mario
Right.
Matt Jones
But then that gives you incentive to have fast guys. Right? So I, you know, I. I don't.
Mario
Love the rule, but it is what it is. And I would say for the team that's batting at the top of the 10th, they could have done the same thing. They could have done a sacrifice to get the guy in.
Matt Jones
So in general, I'm four, six and.
Mario
One half dozen the other.
Matt Jones
I appreciate the call. In general, I'm for it. The Reds have been awful at it this year. The reds are like 2 and 9 in those games and rarely get their runner home. But on some level, like, that's a skill you need to learn. In the same way, like soccer, teams teach their teams to do penalty kicks a certain way, knowing that sometimes games will come down to that. Probably managers need to teach their team what they do in the 10th when a guy's on set.
Mario
If I were a manager, I would bunt to the right side, move them to third, then hit a long fly ball. Two outs, but a run Scores. There you go. Now you put the pressure on what he's saying.
Matt Jones
That happened with the Reds the other night. That guy got to third, so then they walked Ellie, and then they walked the guy after Ellie, but it ended up hurting them because the next guy then got, like, a double in the gap and they won. So, you know the.
Shannon
The crazy Reds, Braves games. That was 12, 11. That's how the Braves won. It was. Both teams were hot, and then he got to the 10th, and it was just sack floss.
Matt Jones
Yeah, it's a little. It feels cheap. I get it. But it's way it goes. Ben, Go ahead. Ben.
Caller
Hey, man. How's it going?
Matt Jones
Good. How are you?
Caller
Good. So my question is, who do you think, in the past decade or two, has been the best Kentucky alumni in the NBA in their prime?
Matt Jones
Well, in their prime, it's probably. I mean, Shea won the mvp, so I guess it has to be Shay. If you're looking at totality of career, I'd probably say Anthony Davis. But if you're looking in their prime, who hit the best peak? Drew. It's probably Shay. Right?
Shannon
He just had one of the best seasons you could possibly have.
Matt Jones
Matt, I like your show. Until you start talking politics, I don't agree with your ways. And I listen to get news about UK sports. If you continue to, Mitch Pollard, mention politics in your show, you will lose me and other listeners. Well, sorry, first of all, no, you won't. You'll stay. But secondly, I mean, you know, we've done this forever, so, like, you must be. If you. You must be a new listener if you didn't realize that. And. And I'm sure we've lost a few. But I want to keep life interesting. And it's impossible, unfortunately, to not to talk about what's going on and not mention that stuff, because it's everywhere now. It's become a huge part of everything everybody does, so.
Shannon
And we don't have UK news either.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I mean, what are you gonna say? What's the UK news?
Shannon
Okay. Create it.
Matt Jones
Yeah. What's the UK news? Like, Mark Stoops is motivated, like, how many times.
Shannon
Yeah, he is.
Matt Jones
Hell, yeah.
Mario
Bush. Hampton's telling the offensive line to breathe through their nose.
Caller
Yep.
Shannon
That was a big news yesterday.
Mario
Yeah.
Shannon
See, there's the UK news.
Mario
He's looking for breathe through your nose.
Matt Jones
I. I didn't hear this. What happened?
Shannon
He's telling them, breathe through the nose, Shannon.
Mario
Just because it relaxes you, you get more oxygen into your bloodstream, and that's what he wants His.
Matt Jones
So he tells our offensive linemen to breathe through their nose.
Mario
Yep. That was Shiash Pete that.
Shannon
That said that really well, you do.
Matt Jones
When you. When you do, like, meditation, they tell you to do that.
Mario
Your nose out through your mouth.
Matt Jones
Yeah, that's. That's how you do meditation in through your nose. I like when I can't sleep. They taught me that. And it actually was one of the few things, along with cornbread hemp, that helped. If you breathe through your nose out through your mouth, you intentionally extend it for like six seconds. And you do that enough, it just slows your heart rate down. And you're just. And you can't. You can't think about anything else, which can help you fall asleep. So I do that quite often. I didn't think, though, that would be good. I don't want to fall asleep on playing football. And they certainly shouldn't have cornbread health.
Shannon
Before they play football. It's basically, we just need Pete to do every interview because that's when we get our best stuff, is when Pete is from. In front of a camera.
Matt Jones
He's the best.
Shannon
Did you see they did the lake retreat? And do you know what a blob is.
Matt Jones
Was in the movie?
Shannon
Yeah, Pete was the one bouncing onto the. Some of the guys I don't think have landed yet, but I mean, how fun that be? Having Pete down this may surprise you.
Matt Jones
But when I went to Camp Rockmont in Black Mountain, North Carolina, the blob terrified me. As someone who's not a big swimmer, the blob was a terrifying thing.
Shannon
I never got to experience it. Just. Just in the movie, heavyweights always wanted to.
Matt Jones
Yeah, they. And that was what they called it was the blob, too. One person writes, matt, if you want to increase your core strength while you're walking, add a weighted vest. It makes it to where you don't have to walk as far, and you will strengthen your core muscles. But wouldn't that be hot?
Mario
I saw a guy doing it at the state fair, and I go, the state fair seems like a strange place for a guy to be running around with a weighted vest on.
Shannon
But there's a woman that does it in the parking garage.
Matt Jones
So I wasn't gonna bring that up, but since you brought it up, I see you're also saying there's a woman here who every day at lunch wears the wave vest. And somebody. Billy like. Well, not just him. Honestly, there's a lot of people involved in this show that have a major crush on this woman.
Shannon
Oh, people that are not present, really.
Matt Jones
It's every moment. Everyone that's not here right now, think about who's on this show right now. And then take the other three people who have some role in this show. I've never seen her.
Shannon
I had never seen her until they mentioned her.
Matt Jones
I've never seen her, but they talk about her like they're talking about this angel that's descended from heaven down to P3. I'm not kidding. Well, we don't have to say what floor it is, but three options. But. But Shannon, the three people that are not here. This is a. Right. Like a regular thing. But she apparently does the vest right. Yeah.
Mario
Is there any chance that maybe Ryan's not really dropping off Josiah and he's out walking around with a weighted pest on the parking lot right now?
Matt Jones
Probably not.
Shannon
I saw it for the first time, just maybe even yesterday. I mean, it's. It is a full workout in the parking garage. I never would consider doing that time down there. That's why I don't even like walking just to my car.
Matt Jones
Yeah, well, I've. I've never seen this person, but I've heard. I've. As they would say. I've heard tail and people.
Mario
Jason. Tail.
Matt Jones
I haven't.
Shannon
Are you gonna get a weighted vest now? They're popular in my neighborhood. I see people wearing them all the time.
Matt Jones
Comfortable. How much does it weigh?
Shannon
Well, you choose your own adventures.
Matt Jones
You can pick which weight.
Shannon
Yeah. You can show off.
Matt Jones
I feel like I would do that, and then I'd get down to, like, you know, I'd get over there to, like, the Starbucks and Chevy Chase and just fall down.
Shannon
I had to Uber home from a walk one time.
Matt Jones
It's embarrassing. It is embarrassing to Uber. I've done it, too, and sometimes you. That's. That is embarrassing. Let's go to Matt. Go ahead, Matt.
Caller
Yeah, I got a little baseball trivia question.
Matt Jones
All right.
Caller
In 1927, Babe Ruth hit 60 home runs. All right, who. Who led the major leagues in RBI that year?
Matt Jones
Tootie Mc Henderson. I have no idea. Who was.
Caller
Was Babe Ruth badded? Third. Lou Gehrig batted fourth, and Lou Gehrig hit 175 RBIs coming to the plate 60 times with nobody on base.
Matt Jones
There you go. See, Shannon didn't even know that.
Mario
No, I didn't. I was gonna say Peewee Reese.
Matt Jones
Yeah. I had no idea. They. 8, 5, 9. Thank you very much. 8, 5, 9, 2 8, 0, 2, 2, 8, 7. Who had the. 1928. That could be the whole show. One day.
Shannon
That was Tootie McKenderson or whatever you said.
Matt Jones
Patriot papa. Go ahead.
Caller
What's up, guys? And interested to hear your take on this with ask anything Wednesday, in honor of college football season, starting the game in Ireland.
Matt Jones
Yes. Iowa State, top 25 max matchup.
Caller
Yeah. It's the formageddon game. Ironic that they're doing this in Dublin, Ireland, home of the potato famine a long time ago. What are your top five college football rivalry game names? I'll go ahead and give you farmageddon as one of the top five because I think it's awesome. I'll hang up, listen to your comments.
Matt Jones
Good boy. I don't know. There's one that's like, what? Battle for the battle axe.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Appreciate the call. I like the iron bowls. Good. What do they call the egg bowl? I like egg bowl. I don't know.
Shannon
I like the egg bowl because it's Thanksgiving and it's usually not anymore.
Matt Jones
They moved it.
Shannon
Well, yeah, that's true. Used to be Thanksgiving. What are the other one we talked about on the gambling podcast? There were the small schools.
Matt Jones
Oh, yeah. It was the battle for the. The river or the creek. I think it was Prostate Creek.
Mario
There's the red river showdown. Is that what.
Matt Jones
Yeah, that's Oklahoma. Texas. Yeah. Now there's one. It was like I wanted to college and something. We talked about it on Fade this a long time ago. They both. And then they sent us shirts from it, if you remember correctly.
Mario
There's the backyard brawl. I like that one.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Shannon
West Virginia back.
Matt Jones
Yeah. My. A friend of mine writes and says, matt, everyone nowadays is wearing the weighted vest. I didn't know that. And the breathing. That style breeding breathing is called Shannon. Smell the flower, blow out the candle.
Mario
Oh, you got a lot of candles to blow out.
Matt Jones
Smell the flower.
Mario
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Blow out the candle.
Mario
It's like meditation radio. I feel like we turned to NPR.
Shannon
And this is what the big blue wall is gonna do.
Matt Jones
That worries me. It's kind of like the wineman.
Caller
Yeah.
Shannon
Do you think they get in the huddle and say, smell the flower, blow out the candle?
Matt Jones
I could see Shias P doing that. Here we go together. Smell the flower, blow out the candle.
Mario
Three more garlic before the game. I like it.
Shannon

The only thing that I don't, I don't agree with is is is putting in there. You love fireworks. Because I as a client do not love fireworks.
Shannon
I don't like them either.
Matt Jones
I don't. So Stockton mistake. We'll take a break. Be right back.

4 Cajun Hanger 54 Pizza it's all there. You download the Clark's rewards app, you get all kinds of discounts. Some point I gotta get on this. Have apps. Not in general, but like I see people at Clark's and they like scan it and they get like all this stuff and it's like 43 cents.
Shannon
Usually like free drinks.
Matt Jones
I mean McDonald's people are getting like long things and it's like a $20. It's a lot of work. But the Clark's Pumping Shop app is worth it. They're more than just a stop for gas and snacks. They're local folks giving back to the community. At Clark's Pump and Shop. Return, refresh, refuel. Shannon, do you do that? Do you do all the saving apps?
Mario
For some of them I will. But you know, I'm not one of these people that walks around and has 20 different things hanging from their keychain. You know? Yeah, I'll do like one or two. The place I go the most, the.
Matt Jones
McDonald's one is tough because like people are like, they'll go, do you have McDonald's hat? They'll go, hang on, I'm pulling it up. I have that one before it's like, come on.
Shannon
I would never fight with my wife. But if we did, most of our fights would be in the McDonald's line. When I'm saying, just give me the four numbers or I'm going to order.
Matt Jones
Like a normal human being.
Shannon
It could be trouble.
Matt Jones
People love it. I mean, they love their McDonald's app.
Shannon
I, I caved. I got it recently.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Shannon
Honestly, the first time I ever used it, I was with my dad, who's also old school, while we're using the app, and I mistakenly ordered at a different location than the one we were at. So it wasn't a good first time.
Matt Jones
I don't understand how this stuff works. So, like, like, like take like good Rx pharmacy. Do you all know what that is? It's like an app. It cost. Well, first of all, it's free, but then you can do like a subscription that's like $10 a month or something. I had a medication a while back that was like $380. And I went to the, to the people and I'm like, I, I, why is this so much? And they were like, just download the app. Said, fine. So I downloaded this app, scanned it, it was $3 and 31 cents.
Mario
How does that happen?
Matt Jones
Explain to me what that business model is. What is the business model where it's $380, I download an app, just hit a button, and it's $3.81. Who does that make sense for? Does it make sense for the pharmacy? Does it make sense for the drug company? Who.
Mario
How are they selling advertisements on that app or something?
Matt Jones
I don't know. I don't understand the price discrepancy. So, I mean, I was like, thank, thank you. And then they go, honestly, most things, it'll do that. And it's just an app. I don't get it. Do you, do you know why that would be?
Shannon
I'm familiar with the app, but not, I've never heard like something that extreme on it.
Matt Jones
So you don't need insurance, you just need the app and everything. Everything works out.
Shannon
There's an app for everything.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Pete, go ahead. Pete.
Caller
Hello. How are you today?
Matt Jones
How are you? Nice to hear from you.
Caller
So, yeah. Hey, listen, I ring up to make a bit of an apology because I, last time I called her, come across as a bit of a grumpy old man about South Africa, but really it was just out of concern.
Matt Jones
Yes, you were being kind. You were, you were being kind. You were trying to help me. I didn't, I didn't. I wasn't upset at you.
Caller
Well, anyway, on September 6th at 9:05, South African time, the Springboks will be playing the All Blacks at Eden park in New Zealand. Okay, yeah. Now, I know, I know you don't think this is a. It's a huge deal in South Africa, you know, a really big deal. It's their number one game. They are the world champions. And, you know, you'll be over there.
Matt Jones
No, I won't yet. I don't leave till September 11th.
Caller
Okay, well, September 13th.
Matt Jones
Okay, what's on September 13th?
Caller
All Blacks versus Springboks at the Wellington Stadium in New Zealand. And the game is at 7:05.
Matt Jones
I'll be there for that. So you're telling me that South Africa will be excited on. On that Saturday for All Blacks versus Wellington?
Caller
Well, can I give you a wee bit of. Just a little bit of history?
Matt Jones
Just like a little bit.
Caller
Okay, well, the All Blacks haven't been beaten in eden park for 31 years.
Matt Jones
Wow.
Caller
Right? Okay. So this is the game. This is the game.
Matt Jones
So I. So I actually am free that night. That's like one of the two nights I have free. So where would you suggest. I think I'm going to be in Johannesburg that night. Where would you suggest I watch the game?
Caller
If you would let me. I'll find out for you and get back to you.
Matt Jones
Please do. Because I'd love to be in. I love being in a place and soaking up the atmosphere of people excited about a sporting event. So I would love to do that.
Caller
Well. Well, it's huge. Anyway, the last thing I'd like to know is what's your size?
Matt Jones
You got to be more specific. What part of me are we talking about?
Caller
Your clothing.
Matt Jones
So, yeah, first shirt for a shirt. Most shirts XL if it's. If it fits. Small, 2x.
Caller
Okay. And do you prefer short or long sleeves?
Matt Jones
Long.
Caller
Okay. Well, is there some way. I've got a little present for you that should arrive in a few days.
Matt Jones
That's very nice. KS Bar. If you send anything to me at KS Bar, I will get it. And that address is online.
Caller
It'd be nice to shake your hand as well.
Matt Jones
So then you just. On when we reopen the bar next week, we will be there almost. Not every, but almost every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. So any of those days, just stop by.
Caller
Okay. Okay. Well, it's a bit of a talisman and in our culture we have talisman. I can't give you one. Okay.
Matt Jones
All right. Thank you, Pete.
Caller
Appreciate it.
Matt Jones
All right. Appreciate it. What is it? What is the talisman. I've heard the word but what is it?
Shannon
I'm not sure but I did look up that game the match. Yeah, it was a big deal.
Matt Jones
Does anybody know what the talisman is?
Shannon
It is an object typically.
Matt Jones
Here we go. An object believed to possess magical properties used for protection, healing or good luck. She probably wants me to take that on my trip.
Shannon
Yeah, you're going to need that.
Matt Jones
It's very nice. That's a nice fellow. That's a nice fellow. And there's Bob in Jamestown. Go ahead, Bob.
Mario
He's a nice fellow.
Caller
How about that? Anthony. Anthony Davis. Four million dollar donation.
Matt Jones
Wait a minute. When did that where outstanding? Anthony Davis.
Caller
Anthony Davis donated $4 million back to athletic department. Now that's a stand up guy.
Shannon
I didn't see that.
Matt Jones
When did this happen, Bob?
Caller
This past week.
Matt Jones
Did it ad.
Shannon
Good?
Matt Jones
Did anybody see that?
Shannon
I didn't see it, but Bob.
Matt Jones
Mario, did you see that? Shannon, did you see that?
Shannon
I wanted to believe Bob.
Matt Jones
No. Bob, where did. Just out of curiosity, where did you hear that?
Caller
It was on the recent media.
Matt Jones
What media? Truth says on the.
Caller
No, it's on a tv.
Matt Jones
The tv.
Caller
I pull it up. I mean that's a pretty big donation.
Matt Jones
I mean I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'm, I'm looking. I don't see was on the TV though.
Caller
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Okay. Four million.
Caller
Four million.
Shannon
All right. Breaking news.
Caller
He's one of the. One of the highest paid, you know, NBA players. But I mean that's pretty nice donation.
Matt Jones
All right, well I appreciate the call.
Shannon
The top result on Google is Anthony Davis donates 400 million to Kentucky. And it's a Facebook group. That's not real. That's 400 million. He said four.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I think he fell for a fake post while also getting the number wrong by a hundred million dollars or by $396 million.
Mario
Here it is on Facebook. Recently donated $4 million. But again it's Facebook.
Matt Jones
What does it say? Who, who wrote.
Mario
Doesn't say.
Shannon
It's not on three. I don't believe it.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I mean he did donate at some point. I think he donated money for flood relief.
Shannon
Yeah, that's been three years ago, so.
Matt Jones
