This is Kentucky sports Radio presented by Stockton mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.
A
Welcome, everyone. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. Monday, August 25th. I'm Matt Jones. We are just five days away from the college football kickoff. Kentucky and Toledo. One day away from KS bar reopening. And we are here. It is that time. It is the week of sports beginning. You you can give us a shout in the Clark's pump and Shop phone line, 859-280-2287. The A Vision Auto Glass Text Machine, 772-774-5254. In this edition sponsored by the T.J. smith Law Office called TGL, Make Them Pay. We got a full house. I got Drew, I got Ryan, I got Shannon. Mario's over there. Billy's over there. Already had heated accusations from Saturday night and ready to go, guys. It's football week. Going to talk a lot of football today. Not going to start with it because I have some complaints I need to. To. To. To mention to the world. But can you feel the excitement of football?
C
I can. I'm very excited. I know we still have the rest of the week to get to the game, but game week just feels completely different. Stoops will talk today. Yeah, we'll see an actual depth chart.
A
That's right.
C
Out and holding our hands.
A
Zach Calzada. Name starter.
C
Yeah. So it's finally here. Very excited.
D
It is game week. Even the first mark Stoops coaches shows tonight that that's what gets me fired up.
A
Some blue hens. No, it's not. They're not blueheads. What are they? Rockets.
D
Rockets.
A
That's Delaware. You get some too. Delaware.
C
We should play Delaware.
A
I ain't worried about either one of you. All right, so a couple things. First of all, we had our KS bar friends and family opening Saturday. Couple things. One, Shannon, you told me Ryan Lemon made a mess of the place. Am I correct about that?
B
Yeah. So Mario first of all knocked into one of our servers and knocked Saturday sour cream all over the place.
A
So Mario started it with a sour cream knot.
B
Ryan then tries to be helpful, gets down and starts wiping up the sour Cream then.
A
Which is nice.
B
And then stands up, turns around and immediately knocks into another server who's coming with a pint of beer in each hand and spills beer all over the server.
D
Yeah.
A
So you're the one that spilled all the beer. I didn't know that. I heard of it.
B
Comedy.
A
I heard that there was beer on servers. And that was you.
D
It was a great bump because all the beer went on him. Not a drop on me. Not a drop.
A
Good. And it was probably somebody just starting. Right.
D
It was a brand new server.
A
Yes. To the. To the family shower. There's a lot of fun. Thank you. To the people listening here who are friends and family who came. It was exciting. Nice to have had a lot of legends there. Yeah. I mean, Drew missed it because he was on the bachelor party, but you had. Let's just go through the. The Kentucky media legends. You had Tom Leach. You had Terry Meyer. Miners. Rob Bromley made an appearance. Rob Bromley. Right. He made an appearance. Jeff Pocoro made an appearance. Right. Lee Cruz. Mary Jo used to be Perino, now Ford.
D
Yes.
A
All kinds of legends.
D
The biggest rock star in the whole building was your mom. People were flocking to go talk to your mom.
A
People like, my mom was just like, had a list, just people coming up, people wanting to meet my mom. There were some people, I know a lot people that were. There were so nice to my parents. Even Larry. Like, we had C.J. kane, who plays with Tyler Childers. Like, he travels around the world with Tyler Childers, came up to talk to Larry about playing the bass. And Larry, of course, no idea who Tyler Childers is. Like, he's talking to him and Shannon. Larry's like, you're in a band.
B
He had no idea who he was.
A
And I want. I want to be like, Larry. He's in like the biggest, like, country, like one of the biggest country acts there is. But for Larry was like, well, I play the. It was great. Was so sweet. And CJ was so nice to him. And, like, I just. I really enjoyed it. It was good.
D
Well, I was in an area where I could see the people go to that table where your mom and Larry were sitting. All your trancy friends went to see him, all your KSR friends went to see him. All the people just wanted to meet your mom and talk to her. She was. She had a steady flow of people coming to talk to her last that. That night.
C
We need to start putting Karen on, like, the social media graphics promoting there's.
A
No doubt going to become like. I mean, she's Already they're already more popular than me in terms of likability. They all like, there's no doubt about that. And part of the reason why is what I'm about to do next.
D
Here we go. Dun, dun, dun.
A
All right, I'm gonna say this like nicely because I don't want to be one of these like, NIMBY people. You know what NIMBY is like? Not in my neighborhood.
D
Okay, I hadn't heard that.
A
I say put up that park. First of all, extremely nice park. Awesome as far as I've heard. No broken legs yet. Although it's coming on that part on that, that playground, people there. First of all, you couldn't ask for two better days of weather, right? People everywhere. Like, I think the whole city went to the park at some point and it seems to have gotten rave reviews. Have you heard that?
D
I drove by Saturday morning and it was a zoo. So you knew it had to be popular.
A
I mean, I think it's gotten right.
C
I've heard good feedback.
A
There's like mountains and there's, you know, they're, they're, they're stars and there's just all kinds of things, right?
C
Stars.
A
Yeah, like, you know, stars in the sky, they come down and like, it's, it's, it's, it's. I feel like the park, in terms of, as a park, rave reviews. With that said, I may have to have. Have multiple people arrested. It has caused my street to become Mad Max Furiosa. Okay. The parking situation down there is an issue now. I mean, that's true for all Town Town events. Right?
D
Right.
A
But it's especially true for this, I think, because they don't have as many parking lots open because like it's not an event, you know. So my street has become just taken over by people trying to park. Now here's the thing, Shannon. You know me, I'm fine with people. Well, sometimes I want them to have fun. I want them to do whatever.
C
You're very patient on the road.
A
But my street, my street essentially is a two lane street, but three cars could get through if they need to. You are allowed to park on one side of the street. That allows it to still be a two lane street. Are we following each other? Starting on Saturday, people just decided ignoring the yellow line. Do people still know what yellow lines mean?
C
Doesn't sound like it.
A
To park on both sides of the street. Now if it's one day, you know me laid back. All right, but it's chaos because then it becomes a one lane street at A dead end. Now think about what a one lane street at a dead end is. You get people going both ways and there's nowhere for them to go.
D
Yeah.
A
Okay. So you just run into each other, just look at each other, waiting for each other to move. Then more cars pile up behind them. And this happens from 9am till 10pm Whoa. And never stops. And, oh, by the way, there's a street full of people that need to get out. Okay. Also, my parents are there Saturday, so you can imagine them trying to navigate that. So driving in and out literally is a war zone. I'm going out with a battle ax.
D
Maybe not the best thing, trying to.
A
Get people out of the way.
C
All right, with your ex.
A
So there were many encounters. I'm going to give you the most pleasant one.
D
Okay? The pleasant one.
A
Most pleasant one is I go, one person is leaving. So one parking spot's becoming open now again, because it's free. This is where everybody wants to be because everything else is charging, Right? This woman, wonderful lady, okay? Older black lady with her sister. And there are maybe three kids in the. In the back. She's driving a minivan. She's trying to parallel park. Oh, I can tell Shannon, this person is not a parallel park. You know what I mean?
B
Oh, yeah, yeah.
A
I watch her go up, back up and back and up. And I'm like, the restaurant opening is coming. I gotta go get there. So I get out very patiently, I say, ma', am, respectfully, would you like me to park your car? And she said, oh, honey, yes. I don't parallel. That's what she said. I don't parallel. So I got in her car. She's in a minivan. She's got it jacked up to the front. So my knees are like up on my face. And I get in and I like, you know, I do it. I parallel park the car.
D
Good for you.
A
All right. I get it in. She. As I get out of the car, she looks at me and she goes, oh, honey, thank the Lord for men. If it wasn't for men, what would we do? And then her sister's like, oh, if it wasn't for men. And I'm like, now I'm almost embarrassed because, you know, I'm like, you're the.
D
King of all men right now.
A
No, no, no. Because I'm like, you're equal.
B
You're just practicing for your African trip.
A
You can. You could do this too, right? Like, we could all do it. You know?
D
She wasn't feeling it, though.
A
Yeah, but she was being like Overly nice, but I didn't want to be the guy. Like, only men can parallel park. That sounds like something Ryan would say, right? But anyway, then she. She walks out. I'm like, I have to get out of my car and go. You've got to back up. If you don't back up, none of us will get out. I can't do this, Drew. So I did the one thing that I've never done in my life. I called the police.
D
Did you?
A
I called the police.
D
Yeah.
A
And I said, look, I don't want anybody towed. I don't want anybody, like, arrested, but y' all got to do something. You gotta do something about this road you got. Like, it's a disaster. And I said, someone's gonna get in a fight. You. You. You have to do something. They never came. That I saw, at least.
B
Turns out they didn't have to do anything.
D
Huh?
A
It turns out they didn't have to do anything. And Sunday was a little less chaotic, but still, same issue. They gotta do something, Ryan. And I'm not, like, I'm not the kind of person who goes to this town, neighborhood zoning. Like, I don't do that.
C
You should. They're funny.
A
But I'm. I don't. I don't do that. But I have registered my complaint privately, and now I'm registering it publicly. If it's like this again next weekend, you may be looking at a host whose head explodes.
D
And it's a shame, because it's a beautiful park. It was a beautiful weekend, all set up to be a great day for everybody, but there's nothing.
A
But you see, you know where I am.
D
Yes.
A
You see how that can happen?
D
Oh, absolutely. I could see it.
A
There's nowhere to go.
D
No, you.
A
You're just stuck.
D
So, I mean, they're gonna have to police it. They're gonna have to tow people police it or something.
A
I think they have to. Like, I mean, one guy parked in my driveway. How do you have the audacity to park in someone's driveway? Right.
D
It is a big driveway, but ask True.
C
You don't know if somebody's coming in or trying to go.
A
I mean, like, you're gonna have to block me in. So it pulled up there next to the garage.
D
Is there a dedicated lot at all yet for the park?
A
I think there is, but there were so many people out there. Like, I.
C
You know, and it's a unique event for the park. I mean, they'll have big concerts, but it's not going to be like that at all.
A
It's going to keep happening. Now there's a sign that says you cannot park on this side during RUP arena events. I think it's just got to say.
B
Always put your own sign out there.
A
Well, my neighbor, you know what my neighbor did? My neighbor put rocks in front of their driveway and a sign in the yard said, get out.
D
You should do the same thing. Why don't you do the same thing?
A
I don't have any rocks, but I.
D
Guess drive down and dead end. They need someplace to turn around.
A
The reality is if they don't have my driveway, I don't think I could turn around. They probably just have to abandon their cars and leave. And I still couldn't get out.
D
Wow.
A
So car graveyard over there it is. So anyway, I've registered my complaint to the city, the police. You're right, Shannon. I said they have to do something. Have to do something. And they didn't have to do anything.
D
Let's get Linda Gordon on it. She'll help you.
A
Because they didn't do a thing. And what was I going to do about it? Like, I mean, there's nothing I could do about it. So I was like, well, I, you.
C
Know, it's like forward to more of these conversations.
D
Like a UK game. There's what, 20 home games a year.
A
You'Re gonna have every week they see the sign that says you can't post here during Rupp arena events. So they don't. But this isn't a rough Arena.
B
For 30 bucks I can get you a no parking anytime sign. I'll throw in the 30 bucks to get you a no parking sign. Just go out there.
A
Do I have the ability as a citizen to determine that a people can't park on a street? I don't think I have that ability.
B
I mean, who's in somebody unless somebody pulls it up?
A
That's true. They didn't. The police didn't come, so I guess it doesn't matter.
B
They're not going to come. Yank yourself.
A
They're not coming either way out there. Well, maybe I should maybe just hang up my own no parking anytime sign on the street.
C
Could you get your board with some nails sticking out of it put at the end of your driveway?
A
My poor parents. My mom just. Here's what my mom did. She came and just sat at the window like for an hour and looked outside and goes, this is going to be a problem. Yeah, yeah, this is going to be a problem. I was like, mom, please sit down. Like, you staring at it is not going to make it she cares.
C
She's being a good mother.
A
859-280-2287. We are going to preview UK Toledo. The blue Hands and the Cats play it Saturday. This is KSR I. It's good song choice. I do like. I do like the park.
D
It's.
A
It's beautiful and there were a million people. Yeah, it was beautiful. Weekend added to try like a lot of. Well, it's definitely added traffic. Believe me, I can tell. But I think it's overall a positive thing for the city Beach Boys. Now I will tell you, I ain't never gonna have to pay for one concert there.
B
Shit, that's cool. Yeah.
A
In my soul, in my restaurant, in my house.
B
Yeah.
A
In the restroom and then everywhere. But so that's good. When they start getting good Axe, that'll be good.
C
Have you used the splash pad yet when we catch you out there?
A
Splash, splash pad. I'm not gonna splash pad. I don't feel the need to pad or splash. But. But it'll be good. 859-280-2287. One person says. Matt, do you use the same tone with the police that you did on the radio? No. I was very polite. I didn't even say my name. I was like, this is the street. This is the issue.
C
I'm a concerned citizen.
A
I said I didn't want to be like, you know who you know I was. I'm just. I just wanted to say, hey, this is like something to be aware of.
C
You're just someone looking out for their community.
A
I did. I do think I said you have to come out. And Shannon has proven that was a complete false.
B
Don't tell police what they have to do.
A
They do one thing and they were fine with it. All right. UK Toledo 1245 on Saturday. Nervous Zach Causada. Name the starter.
D
Yeah, I, like I said, I don't want to be too overconfident, but I'm not nervous. I feel like that's this is a game. I think it'll be a close game, but I think Kentucky's going to win the game. They just have better players than Toledo does, so they should win the game.
C
I'm not nervous at all. Even though it is a very difficult week one opponent, Toledo is very good. We've been saying all summer we know what Kentucky's up against, but I wouldn't say I'm nervous. I still think they win, but I think it will be closer than you want those first non conference games to be.
A
Are we winning at halftime?
C
Yeah. Toledo was up 147 here about five years ago got a little uncomfortable. I think it'll be low scoring, probably a boring game, but Kentucky will be in control.
D
Isn't there a stat that like Stoops is really good about covering like his team's cover?
B
Well, what kind of stat is it?
A
A lot. So we cover a lot in losses. We're one of the best teams in the country. Covering in losses. That's not what we want. Saturday though, I know there's would be possible for us to cover during this game and lose because we're a favorite. We've struggled in week one. Like, I mean we've won all the time except his first year or two. But we've struggled in week one. We've had a lot of games where we didn't look great in week one. And then I think the Toledo game was the most obvious. We were losing at halftime, came back, but we. This is a team that over the years with Stoops has taken a little while to get the engine revved.
C
Yeah, in the last few years it seems they've gotten a little bit better about it. Heck, we all remember the early days needing a spectacular catch to get ahead of Eastern Kentucky that one year and.
A
You know, the Western games to get ahead to win it was the last drive. Yeah.
C
So we remember those last year they played Ohio. The Mac team I think even won the Mac and Kentucky handled them pretty easily if I recall. So hopefully it's more like that. But we all have plenty of memories of when this game's been way too tight.
A
Did I see that Toledo came in like sixth last year in the Mac or fifth?
C
Yeah, they were.
A
Why is. What, what, what is the reason I have not followed the Toledo off season? What is the reason that everybody thinks they're going to be so good?
C
Well, they went. 500 in the Mac last year, which isn't great. That's why they're middle of the pack. But outside of the conference games, they beat Pittsburgh and Mississippi state. They went 2 and oh in the power 4. And then they bring lots of people back and add train them. Their coaching staff's been together like a million years. They're just a program that's continually good. Last year they just lost some, some.
D
Conference games in their quarterback like in the Heisman. Conversation even like that can't be true.
B
Well, no, no, what he's talking about is Fox Sports did a simulation where they ran it 26 times. And one of those times the Toledo quarterback won the Heisman. So take that for what it's worth.
A
You didn't think that was reality, though.
C
Video game.
D
There was something where they he's being promoted like I thought it was as a Heisman candidate. He has a big year.
A
Okay.
D
Yeah.
A
You want to see, you want to go with that?
D
Yeah, I'm going to go with that.
A
Fact check.
D
I'm going to go with that.
C
Look at his Heisman.
A
Let's See if anybody 772-77-4525 or at k Sports Radio on Twitter. Can anyone find proof? Yes, it was someone you think this is when you say they were being or promoting. Who's they?
D
Maybe the Toledo sports writers.
A
Are there. Toledo sports writers.
B
This was a story@kentucky sportsradio.com okay, what does it say? Well, I don't have it in front of me, but I remember reading it and again, it's Fox Sports that did this.
A
But it was the simulation of the video game.
B
It was a simulation for. No, for the regular season, I believe.
A
But it was on a video game.
B
They ran numbers. They ran analytical numbers. I'm not sure if it was for a video game. I think.
A
All right. Well, if it was real, if it was not a video game and Fox Sports ran it and he won the Heisman, I will say that. That your, that your comment is relatively correct.
D
Yeah.
A
All right. I'll give you a relatively correct.
D
Yeah, I knew nothing about a video game. I just saw something where he was like in the conversation.
C
You're currently putting him in the conversation.
D
I don't know his name.
A
By its very nature, Drew a medium putting him in the conversation with the Heisman right now on a pretty big show.
C
People might reference this in their previous.
A
This is going to be great because now people will say they're referencing him for the high.
D
That's right.
A
And they might be using you.
D
That's right. Yeah. Ryan L. Put him in the Heisman conversation. Why not?
A
All right. Does anyone think this is just like an easy win and it the game is not in question? Shannon, you've been very positive on this team. Do you think this is an easy win? Yes.
B
And if it's not, then we've got much bigger problems on our hands. I'm not nervous at all about this. I think Kentucky wins and they went convincingly.
A
Sometimes, though, teams that are good can have a bad. I mean, remember Notre Dame last year went to the championship game and lost to Northern Illinois?
D
Yeah, that's right.
A
You know, a lot of people forget they lost to Northern Illinois last year and ended up in the, in the championship. So that can happen. I'm not saying that if we lose Saturday, I'm going to be like, hey, we're still going the championship. I But you know, I could see it being a difficult game. There's never been a Kentucky team in my lifetime since I've been doing ksr. At least that I've known less about than this. I freely admit to knowing almost nothing. I'm. I've set aside part of Friday for study up for the pregame show on Saturday. But I acknowledge in part because of their lack of doing the things that UK football has done over the years to promote their team, in part because of the massive transfer of talent. Drew, I have no idea what to expect.
C
There's a lot of people like you. If you think about like the depth chart which is probably coming out any minute now, there's going to be a new starter at most positions.
A
How many positions are we going to even have a returner? I mean Jacori Macklin or he didn't even start.
C
Now the receivers, running backs, quarterback and most of the offensive line who are.
A
Going to be the return?
C
Josh Cattus.
A
Josh Cattus, Jagger. Any other offensive lineman.
D
The Farmer. Kid Farmer.
A
Jalen Farmer. All right then on defense, Alex Safari, Jordan Lovett.
C
Jordan. Love it. Ty Bryan, JQ Hardaway. There's a little more Turners on defense.
A
Maybe six returning start.
C
Yeah, defensive line has some back.
D
Khalil Saunders and Josiah Hayes are.
A
Some of those dudes may not start. Some of those guys have been replaced. Replaced them.
C
So it's probably seven, eight positions at least where you're going to have brand new people in there.
A
What kind of crowd are we going to get?
D
Well, we've talked about the opening day crowd is usually pretty good.
A
You know, I saw two tickets on the front row of one section for 100 bucks today.
C
Oh, that's not good. I'm worried about it.
A
I know friends, I think it's going to be huge for Ole Miss. I'm a little worried about this Saturday.
C
The people that set up the big tailgates tradition. I'm not worried about them because that's what they do. But they don't fill the stadium. You need just a common fan.
A
You gotta get. You gotta get the casual. You'll have your regular fan to fill the stadium. Yeah, we'll see. 859-280-2287, give us your thoughts. We'll take your calls. Right for this ksr. TJ Smith, personal injury attorney.
D
Call tj.
A
He'll make them pay.
B
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio. Presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
A
Welcome back. Tucky Sports Radio. 859-280-2287. Text Machine 772-774-5254. One person rights. Matt, no offense, but how do you have opinions on football this year while admitting to not knowing much about the team? I mean, if people can are not allowed to have opinions about things without knowing much about it, most conversation would stop. I mean, when I get on Facebook, everybody has an opinion about everything. And a lot of those people I went to high school with and I remember what their grades were on the subjects that they do have opinions on. I have multiple friends who failed many classes in biology who are experts on medicine. Listen. So, yes, I'm just acknowledging, I'm acknowledging what is true about most people in your lives that talk about sports. They don't know as much about it as they think they do. I'm just acknowledging I don't know much about this team. Now. This week we'll change it a little bit. We'll know more. But one person writes, matt, part of it is your all's fault. You've talked less about football than any year ever. And that's partially why fans don't know it. I mean, maybe a little bit, but let me also just be real. We're in the business of entertaining. This is an absolute fact. Take it to the bank. You can believe me or not, but it's true. Of all the topics we have talked about this summer, the one that kills the phone lines and kills the text machine the most is UK football. I can talk about UK basketball. I can talk about parking. I can talk about cheeseburgers. I can talk about the reds. I can talk about fly fishing. And we will get triple the phone calls and triple the text message and UK basketball, then UK football. When I talk about UK football, it gets the least response. Now I feel some responsibility to still talk about it because this is a UK show and I want to whatever, but that's just the reality. There is less appetite for UK football than I can ever remember. It reminds me of when I started doing this and years, years and years ago when Joker was the coach and that was the last time, Ryan, it has been like this. Now starting Saturday, that will probably change, but it's just how it's been.
D
It's with so many new faces, so many unknowns. They kept things so quiet over the, you know, the off season. They didn't expose a lot of their guys to us. I mean, there's just a lot of things we don't know about this team.
A
Come out. If we win by 30, Drew, it's a different conversation next week.
D
Yep.
A
Right. But that's just how it is right now.
C
Aside just us. I went to their spring game, which you can't even call it a spring game. I mean, there was no one there and they didn't even tweet about it from their own social media account. There was like they didn't even want people to know the practice was happening.
A
Back in the day. Did this. I mean, they did this. And maybe it'll be a good strategy. Maybe we'll be halfway through the season, we'll be five and two. Fan base will be rolling and it'll be a good strategy. But if it's not, they only have themselves to blame. They did this. You're right. The spring game is a perfect example. Fan day got almost no like, you know, media, like it got almost no advertising leading into it. I think it was the lowest attended fan day they've had. They did this. And so, you know, now you have a situation where we have a quarterback that we're playing that could walk down the street and wouldn't be known. That's just different. It just is.
D
I had no idea what even looked like until he sat down with us on media day. They should have had forefront ever since the spring that he should have been the poster child. Get out there and meet the fans.
A
But once the game starts, all of that matters significantly less. And so we'll see. Adam, go ahead. Adam.
E
Hey, Matt. First of all, to the. The texter or caller who said that, you know, it's your all's fault because you're not talking about. What are you supposed to say besides, you know, pull out the caliper line like, I haven't seen them.
A
That' Great point. I mean, what there is a sense of when you don't know the players, you haven't been told anything about them, you haven't been allowed to watch them practice and you haven't seen them play. What is there even to say? They seem like nice people. I mean, there's nothing to even say really. In some ways.
E
Yeah, I've actually this weekend talked myself into. I think Kentucky is going to win comfortably against Toledo and Drew hit on it. I think Van Hals talked about it on Tom Leach's show that, yeah, UK, even though they were bad last year, only won four games. They beat the Mac champ 41 to 6 and then that same team beat Toledo 24 to 7. Like, I don't Understand where the Toledo hype's coming from.
A
That's interesting. That's a really. I hadn't thought about it like that, but that is interesting. Appreciate. Adam Van Hiles, by the way, is the new co host of the KSR football podcast. Over the years, that's been Jared Lorenzen, Freddie Maggard, Max Duffy, and a lot. Charles Walker. A lot of folks. And then every time they have one, he ends up something, you know, going somewhere else or something happens. And now you have Van Hiles, who does. For people who don't know, does extensive breakdowns of football on Twitter after games that people really like. Yep.
C
We're doing our first one after this show. We're going to do a little later this afternoon. Looking forward to. To talking to Van. As you said, we've been doing it for years. Started with me, Roush, Freddie and Jared was mostly Jared and Freddie just telling locker room stories. Austin McGinnis did a couple years. I mean, heck, it's 13. I don't know how many years we've been doing it, but it feels like a long time. And now we're excited for the new chapter of Vance. So we'll be promoting that this afternoon.
A
I have something I think you'll like. Shannon, did you see Tommy Fleetwood finally won in golf?
C
Watch the whole thing.
A
Do you know who Tommy Fleetwood is?
B
He's a golfer.
A
Correct. If he wasn't a golfer, one, that would have even been more surprising.
B
You should have asked me that before. You said he wanted golf.
A
He won the Tour Championship. He had, like, had Ryan. 30 top fives.
D
Okay.
A
Leading up to this. And had never won.
D
Never won a tournament.
A
30 top fives. Never won. Think about that.
D
Yeah.
A
Had multiple tournaments this year. Like, led the final day and then choked.
D
Wow.
A
So he wins. So I watch him winning, and I'm thinking, shannon, that's very cool. Like, I'm pulling for this.
D
Sure.
B
Yeah.
A
So as I look at him, though, as he's walking up the thing, you know, I don't know a lot about him. So as I'm looking at him, I walk and he's walking up the 18th. I'm like, how old is he? Because I thought he was pretty young, but he kind of looked old yesterday. Like, he just looked a little haggard. Maybe it was just the pressure of everything. Maybe he hadn't gotten sleep losing. Yeah. So I looked him up and he was 34 years old. And I thought, well, he looks a little older than 34. But I. Okay, I can see it. Then he wins. He makes the putt he wins. And this guy comes on the green and hugs him. And I'm like, oh, that's probably his, like, best, but because they look to be the same age. And then he goes, that's his stepson. And I was like, his stepson looks.
D
As old as him.
A
Looks as old as him.
D
Okay, I see where you're going.
C
Taller than him, it looked like.
A
I was like, that's odd. Stepson looks old as him. Then I looked it up. Tommy's 34, wife 57. Now, let me be fair. If that's flipped, nobody says a word. Nobody says a word.
C
Nope.
D
Nope.
A
Right. 57 year old dude, 34 year old woman, nobody would think one thing about it. Well, Mari, think something. But that wouldn't be. We probably wouldn't even be talking.
D
Correct.
A
But that is something. You don't see a lot flip that way.
D
Right, Right.
A
I have to think, though, Shannon, they got to be like, crazy in love, right? He's a good looking dude. He looked a little haggard yesterday, but he's a good looking dude. 57. So then of course I'm like, how did they meet? When did they Whatever. Because he seems very close with the stepson. They met when he was 26 and she was, I guess, what, 49. 49. And that's when they fell in love. About that.
B
The early bird Spanish.
A
Have you. Have you. Can you think of another famous couple with an age gap like that, but flipped?
D
Yeah.
A
Where the woman is 23 years older than the guy.
B
Stifler's mom.
A
Well, I don't think they were married.
B
Oh, no. Yeah, they weren't.
D
Yeah, you're right.
A
What is the difference between the president of France and his wife, Macron?
C
And that's the first one that came to mind. She's 72 and he is. Well, give me a second.
A
Okay, so that's 72. So she's 72 and he's 47. 47. So that's 25 years that. And she was his teacher. Right. I think that's the story. I think she was. She was his teacher. But you don't see that a lot.
D
No, you don't.
A
And so it was really. It was really like when the stepson runs onto the thing, I'm thinking it's his brother or his best friend and it's his stepson. You just. I. And they were like, they clearly really like each other. They probably stepson's happy, got somebody to hang out with.
C
He's crying. Yeah.
A
Yeah. So does that surprise you at all?
B
Right.
D
It is kind of Odd that our society, we do look at that totally different. If they instead of was flipped. Now I remember when. Well, like, was it Scottie Pippen's ex wife was dating somebody the same age as her son?
A
That's a good one. You know, Scotty Pippin's ex wife was dating Michael Jordan son.
D
Yeah, Michael Jordan son. And everybody looks at it kind of odd like she's robbing the cradle. But why don't we think of the other way around, you know?
A
Well, I mean, we know why we don't. That's like sexism. It is, but was surprising to me.
B
Do you know who Kalista Flockart is? Apparently Ali McBeal married to Harrison Ford and she is 22 years older than him.
A
That's not true.
B
That's what it says.
A
Harrison. Harrison Ford's like in his 70s. That would make her in her 90s.
B
Maybe she's 90.
A
Do you even know who Kista Flockart is?
B
No.
A
She was Ally McBeal. You think Ali McBeal's in her 90s? I'm just.
B
Google says. Google could be wrong.
A
Okay, see, this is the problem with Google AI. It's just saying like now fake things and people just take it as fact. That's not true. If you Google AI me, they have like six different people listed as my wife.
D
Really?
A
No, I'm not kidding. Put in Matt Jones, Kentucky wife. They'll have me be a name to people like Elaine. Like people that are not even real people or people that I've just taken like pictures with. Yeah, they'll say they're my wife on AI now. They will. So I mean, I believe you. That's what it says.
B
Yeah, but it's wrong then.
A
But It's. It's. She's 60. I didn't realize she was that old. And what's Harris probably pushing 80? Oh, yeah, he's got it.
B
The one who's 22 years old.
C
He's 83.
A
Yeah, yeah. So they just flipped it. Yeah.
B
Damn.
C
Chad GPT. I asked for some Kentucky basketball stat one time and it said John Wall won the 78 championship. I'm like, yeah, we got a little time before.
B
That's the only problem with Googling things now. AI comes up first.
A
I hate it.
B
And I didn't ask for that. But it's there.
A
I think there's now an opening for a search engine that doesn't give me AI answers.
B
Right, right.
C
Because Jeeves bring them back when that.
A
I think there is. Because AI at least the Google AI is not. Is not particularly Good yet.
B
No, you're right.
A

B
That's a good one.
A
Yeah, that's a good one. But they're not still together, are they?
D
I don't think so.
A
Marty Stewart and his wife.
D
Oh, we talked about that on the show before.
A
Yeah. He said when he was a little kid, he listened to her set play and said, I'm gonna marry her mama. And he did.
B
And then he did Connie Smith.
A
Connie Smith? Yeah, she's the one that sings the Cincinnati song.
D
Oh, okay.
A
Cincinnati, Ohio. Yeah.
D
I remember us talking about him.
A
And then I didn't realize this. They say Randy Travis's wife is a lot older than him.
B
He's old.
A
Yeah. See how old Randy Travis's wife is? I didn't know. Or Randy Travis and his wife.
B
Well, he's 66.
A
So what is she? I don't know. Apparently Tommy Fleetwood's wife was his agent.
D
Okay.
A
And they have a child together.
D
Oh, they do now.
A
If they met when she was 49, that means she had a child a lot later in life with him. Yeah, right. You have the Randy Travis.
C
I'm looking. I'm not finding rage.
A
Okay, well, there you go. Apparently one of the. Kim Kardashian's mom is dating a 27 year old. Who's that? Kris Jenner.
D
Kris Jenner. She was dating like this? Yeah, the trainer. He's. He's a lot younger than her.
A
How do you know this?
D
I used to watch Keeping up with the Kardashians regularly.
A
So you watched?
D
Oh, yeah, I know. Oh, yeah, yeah. Watched a lot of them.
A
I thought.
C
She's had a boyfriend for like 10 years that's older.
D
I think he's younger. The black guy. He's a younger Guy.
A
Okay, y', all stop arguing.
C
We try to keep up with.
A
I do. I will say I turned on. I wanted to watch something mindless turned on the first episode of Hunting Wives on Netflix. I mean, you want to talk about a terrible show, but that I'm probably going to watch every episode of. Have you seen that?
D
I. It's funny. Well, some of your trancy friends were talking about that at the party Saturday night.
A
Woman from Boston, like, moves to Texas. She meets all these, like, maga Gun women. Then it turns out they're all a little risque. And then she gets caught up in it. And, I mean, it's terrible, but I can see myself watching all eight episodes of it.
C
I got home really late from Tahoe last night. Right away, Gilded Age. I'm in.
A
I'm all in.
D
Can we talk? I'm talking about Gilded Age.
A
What?
D
Can I say what I told you?
A
Yeah, if you want.
D
Drew, there is no way Matt Jones was sitting at home one night and decided, I'm gonna start watching Gilded Age.
A
I did the same thing.
C
I just said I got home from Tahoe and immediately.
D
What was her name that got you on watching Gilden Age.
A
I like it. I genuinely like. I don't think it's a great show, but I think it's entertaining. I like it. Cause it's so trivial and stupid. I have the hots for Bertha Russell. Agnes is mean but funny. I'm hoping Ada or Ava or whatever hooks up with the preacher. Don't. Spoiler alert and tell me if she does. Okay. They got rid of Mr. Rakes, who was so boring.
D
Yes. Married him off.
A
Yeah. Got him away. I like what? You know. Gladys Russell's now out on the town. Hopefully she finds a suitor.
D
My favorite character's Oscar. Oscar.
A
Oscar gets more involved as it goes on. It's a good show.
D
There's no way. You said people, like.
A
They'll be like, there's Clara Barton. There's Oscar Wilde.
D
And, like, Booker T. Washington.
A
There's Booker T. Washington. That's exactly right.
D
There's no way. You're sitting home like, I'm gonna start watching this by myself. What was her name? What was her name?
A
There's no blushing. I'm telling you. It was. I. I watch. I really like hbo. Max. Probably my favorite of the apps. I turned it on. It. They. I just kept seeing it. Then I was like, all right, one episode.
C
I'm confused. You seem to know a lot. You're judging him. You seem to know more than me.
D
Matt got me.
A
Wait a Minute. That's a really good point. You know, how do you know Booker T. Well, that's. That's halfway through season two.
D
That's where I am. I'm right. The halfway through season two.
A
So that means you're watching.
D
You told us that. You hooked us. You got us excited about it, told us to watch it.
A
But if you're all the way through season two, that means you clearly like.
D
It enough to keep watching because Yoga Girl loves it. It is a chick girl show.
A
He's halfway through season two, and it's Yoga Girl's fault.
D
Absolutely.
A
It's good.
D
It's not your kind of show, though.
A
What are you. You don't know me.
D
You love Succession Sopranos, you don't know me, that kind of stuff.
A
I have a sense of Parks and Recreation.
D
Oh, please.
C
He reads romance novels at Reds games.
A
What's your. Mina Khan said you have a sensitive side, Jim. Go ahead, Jim. Good, Jim. Yep. Go ahead.
E
Yeah. So I'm the owner of Chaotic Good, and I heard you guys talking about us a little while back. Figured I'd call and say hi and if you want to come.
A
What's Chaotic Good?
E
That's that nerdy coffee shop you guys are talking about.
A
The nerdy dorky people playing games store.
E
Yeah, yeah. I'm the owner over there.
A
I. I hope you know I say that with love. I feels like to me, I do. Yeah. I feels like to me, you've created, like, a community there of, like, dorky dungeon and dragons, people that play their card games and they seem really happy. And I, I, I'm. I'm. I guess I'm giving you a hard time, but I also think that's cool. I mean, that I'm not. Yeah. I hope you realize that.
E
No, yeah, no, of course. I mean, yeah, we. We have a great people. And I'm. And I'm sorry. Actually, Saturday might have been partially our fault, too. About your park also threw a Renaissance fair that had like 5,000 people show up.
A
So. Yeah.
E
Yeah.
A
My bad people and all the gun stuff.
E
Yeah.
A
So if I.
E
Hey, when you have live sword fighting, it's cool.
B
Yeah.
A
Well, that's kind of cool. If I, if I came there sometime, would you teach me how to play the dungeon and then the dragon?
E
I would absolutely teach you how to play Dungeons and Dragons. I've been running the game for more than a decade and love to teach you.
A
Okay. All right. Well, I'm not sure if I'll also.
E
I will say I think Kentucky has tennis or I think Kentucky has Toledo. Week one. I. I don't think there's a question about it.
A
I don't know if there's any. Yeah, I don't know if I trust your opinion on that. I'm just kidding with you. I walk by that place almost every night on my walk, and I do think it's very cool. You guys really do have a community there, and I think that's neat. Thank you for calling it in.
E
Yeah, thanks for having me.
A
Appreciate it. We'll take a break. Be right back. 85928. Oh, 2287. It's KSR.
