We changed the tabletops in here. You might see that they're shiny and new. We redid the floors so. So as you can see, the floors are brand new, including having some new blue paint. You changed a lot of these pictures in here. A lot more pictures and a lot different jerseys, et cetera. You guys spent a lot of time on this. Looks, looks really good. Changed the place behind us. We switched a ton of the televisions around and then most importantly, I think we very much improved our menu. I think the wings and the logs, cheese logs, are the same. A couple other things are same, but most stuff is new, including we're doing smash burgers from Noche Linda which are really good there. It's a lot of new appetizers, potato wedges, which I think I'm gonna eat those probably more than I should because they're actually really, really good. So anyway, you will see when you come a the I guess you would say KS Bar drew 2.0.

You mentioned Kendrick Law. He's the wide receiver in the slot. He went to Alabama. And then Jamari Macklin. Of course we know him. Tight end Josh Cattus. He's a returner superstar. Yes. Other tight end, the F Willie Rodriguez, Kentucky and everybody knows him as well. Quarterback Zach Calzada is the quarterback. He has been to incarnate word. Auburn, Texas A and M. Another kid at his third SEC school at the quarterback and then running back. They did another. Or Drew Dante Dow from Nebraska or Seth McGowan from New Mexico State.

I'm excited about these two. Dow, Dell, a little more power. Gonna punch in those goal line runs where we couldn't get in the end zone last year. McGowan more like a pro type back. He's got a very unique path in getting here. But I'm excited to watch him. It's crazy. You got Wilcox as your leading rusher a year ago and now he's down to fourth. So that room has really improved.

Stoops is going back to his old ways, going to run the damn ball. So that offensive line has to be good. And I think they have to start, stay healthy. The two deep, there are a lot of freshmen in there. They've got some guys that left to bulk up on the. Coming off the bench. So if the, if the main five can play well and stay healthy, I think they'll be able to run and set up Calzada to take a few shots.

What sticks out to me, big picture is there is. There is some are some returning players, specifically the tight end, two offensive linemen. But this is a new offense. Like, this is a completely new group. Probably of the guys that are going to start on this week compared to starting on week one last year, you're looking at like one guy, like Josh Cat is to Jagger, Burton, everybody else. Brian. It's a new group. We'll see what happens.

That's why we, you know, somebody got on us yesterday about we don't know the names or how they're going to do because we brought new faces. It's a whole new offense, a whole new look, whole new position these guys are playing.

Linebackers are all pretty much new. Even Afari, he came here as a defensive back. He's been on the team for five years, but he's moved up, taken on a bigger role. If the linebackers play well, I think Kentucky will get back to having a good defense.

Mark Stoops was asked, what do you think about there being nine SEC games? And he said, you know, I made my opinion clear on that in the past, but now that it's coming, bring it on. I like that attitude, to be honest with you, Ryan. Like, I mean, what are you going to do about it at this point? You got to, it's, it's happening, so we might as well make it work.

I remember he came on this show after the COVID year. They had to play 10 SEC games and he said there was no way he would ever be in favor of expanding it more than eight games. But now he's like, there's, you know, it is what it is. We have to, we have to. Can't hide from it. You got to go out and play the games.

So with all that said, gave you the roster, gave you the teams, etc. Is that a better football team than last year, yes or no?

B (18:55)

I don't think it's gonna be close. I've thought that since December they'll be better than last year. How good will it be? Still a little uncertain, but just I mentioned Wilcox going from your top rusher to probably not playing much. I mean, you've added so many pieces that have improved. I mean, I think we can all expect, whoever Calzada is, surely he won't quit football and go back to hunting because it was so bad. They've improved a lot across the board.

I mean, honestly, nothing that is true. I mean, I don't think it gets taught. To me, the most legendary UK football quarterback story is that we had a quarterback skip the final game to take the lsat. I mean, I think that's like, we'll never top that. We had a UK football player skip the final game to take the lsat.

This one, though, of him quitting football to go hunting is. It's second to that.

B (19:44)

But it's not really his fault. The line was awful. It can't be that bad.

All right, so that's my football thing. Let's talk about basketball. Did you see what Todd golden said yesterday about Denzel Aberdeen, the UK player? So Denzel Aberdeen, of course, came from Florida. Todd golden went on John Rothstein's podcast, said, I love Denzel Aberdeen. He's great. But ultimately, I guess he had to make a financial decision to go to Kentucky, and he says, we're not too happy about it. I'm sure my. Our fans are looking forward to when he comes back here to the Odom. Kind of a little trash talking from a coach in a way you don't often see coaches react to players that. That leaves. What'd you make of that?

I can see why he's. He's butthurt. You know, they just won a national title.

But why exactly. Why is he butthurt? This kid helped win him a national.

Title, and I think he thought he was going to be the main cog of rebuilding the next year's team. And I think, you know, assumed he would be back and build around him.

But let me ask you all something. Does anybody. Did Todd golden leave San Francisco for Florida? Does anybody remember that?

I'm sure he wanted to keep Aberdeen six man international championship team, but he's making a point to really let people know that Kentucky overpaid. He's trying to say we could. We had a number. We thought it was good, but, oh, he had to go to Kentucky because it was this outrageous number that we weren't going to.

But I think we're going to be hearing this a lot in recruiting. They're going to make an excuse for why a player that is beloved went.

To another school and they're just going to. They're in a noise me so much that these coaches act like they own these players. It annoys me to no end because they never hold themselves to the same standard. Todd, go. Listen. If Kentucky were to offer Todd Golden $4 million more the year than Florida, if Florida were to say no, what would Todd golden do?

He'd leave.

If you were in charge of the state, what would you do? 1462 Kentuckians, due to a mistake by the state, were accidentally sent. Is it ebt? Is that what it's called when you. EBT claims. So they were sent basically stuff for food, right. That you send to people who are struggling. 462 families were sent it for children that didn't qualify. They just accidentally sent it to the wrong people. The people got them and were able to spend them. I think they said there were a few hundred that had. Spin it some that did. The state is now going back to them and saying you have to pay that money back. And if you don't pay the money back, we will tax it to you as income and you have to pay it all back. I think it's even like a fine if you don't pay it back. Some of these people are saying, like, I thought maybe we just got. I mean, when the state senate. I thought we were good.

I've spent it, and I don't have the money to pay it back because some of these. Most of these people were not rich. These were people who were right. I think what it was is, let's say the line was $25,000. They gave it for people who were up to like 35,000. They just made the wrong line. It was in four counties, one of which is Scott County. It was. The state acknowledges it was its mistake, but as of now, the state is saying you have to pay this money back. Do you think if the state sends you money and they're wrong, that and. And you've had time to spend it, you didn't do. You didn't file anything illegally, that it was the state's mistake? Do you Think you should have to pay it back.

I'll go first. I'm gonna say, no. State should stand up. We made a mistake. But lady luck is shining on you guys right now. Welcome. A gift from the state of Kentucky will correct it. It won't happen again. I think they just got to eat it.

If you get money from the state, you have to assume the state knows what it's doing. Right. Wouldn't you think?

I don't think that a lot of these people, like you said, maybe we're on the borderline of receiving some kind of funds anyway, so maybe they thought the state is finally going to, you know, we didn't get the. The big Covid return or the tax return or whatever, but their state's gonna kind of reward us with this.

I actually just, I won't say which large home improvement store but I just made some home improvements and went to return some material and instead of crediting me back 8 pieces of tile, I didn't find out till 3 weeks later, they credited me back 18 cases of tile.

Okay, so when you got that credit though, did you know it was more money than you were supposed to get?

Oh yeah, absolutely. It was. It Was. I mean, the difference from $80 to $2,300.

So what did you do?

I didn't realize. Well, I didn't. Here's my. Here's where I was torn. Had I known right away, I would have immediately probably returned it.

But I didn't find out until three weeks later when I looked at my receipt on my. I'll say, on my Lowe's gift card. And at that point in time, I literally just gave it back to him. Well, I gave it back to him in the sense that I bought new doors for my house.

Yeah. I mean, and I appreciate. I appreciate the call in that situation. I'd even be more mad at Adam, like, I just gave you the money. I think this kind of thing happens a lot. I'm generally of the view that the person that makes the mistake has to eat it. Unless the entity that knows knows and then is just like, yay. But how do you prove that? I don't even know if there is a way to prove that, to be honest with you. How do you prove what people know? It's very difficult.

I had this happen earlier this year where I got some money put in my account, and it was very obvious it wasn't supposed to be mine. And I thought a minute, for a second, I thought, the hassle this will be when it is found is more than I want to deal with. So I. Within an hour, I was like, hey, can we settle this asap? But it was like an obvious. Yeah, I knew it wasn't supposed to be mine. It was clear.

And to get them to go to Natural Bridge and Laurel Lake and ziplining and do that kind of stuff, I mean, I think it was awesome. Great time of year to do it. So why not do something like that as a bonding experience?

Well, that was gonna be part two. You know, I want this team to be really, really successful. And picking up the pickleball rackets, it makes Me a little bit nervous because there is, there is no. I mean, do you think that you think Kobe Bryant played pickleball?

Yeah, I don't know. I didn't like the pickleball, but you know what? I do like all things bonding, but I didn't like that.

It was interesting seeing a seven footer just riding a jet ski around Cumberland or wherever they were.

Yeah, they did. I mean they went. So the basketball team, they went to Natural Bridge, they went to Lake Cumberland, they went to the Gorge. I mean he basically, Mark Pope took them around the sort of, you know, the highlights of, of Kentucky.

Get to see the beautiful parts of our state. Yeah. Teaching them about Kentucky.

I like that Mark Pope does that. I do like that Mark Pope seems to want to show the guys the state. I think there's value in that for so, so that they know what they're representing. I get that. Like they're getting money and, and I get all that. But there is value, what they're a part of, etc.

Yeah. You know, unfortunately they've had to go out in the state for fundraising for issues we had. But it's also good for them to just go out for whether it's at a boat and meeting the people that around or assume at grand openings of things. It's just good for them to know the fan base they're representing.

There was a great. There's a great story which I encourage everybody to read about the revitalization of Horse Cave, Kentucky. I guess Horse Cave has caves. Yeah, not surprisingly. And starting in like the 50s, they had started to let sewage get it down in there and waste from industry. And their caves smelled apparently just hideous. You couldn't even walk by the cave without the smell just knocking you down. And I guess they started some project in like the 80s to try to clean it up. And now this town of 3,000 people gets like 150,000 people a year in their caves. It's revitalized. The town has like 3,000 people has getting all these people and it's all because they got rid of the stink in Horse Cave. The New York Times did a long feature about the removal of the Horse Cave stink.

I read the first three paragraphs and saw the photos. So it asked for my password, but I was really into it. It's fascinating. Like the images look cool. It Looks like it's gonna be a nice destination.

They said that part of the reason the downtown business is closed is that the cave stunk so bad.
