Drew Franklin
Yeah, what a coincidence. I have $2. Works out perfect.
Matt Jones
They're also doing $3 they have for those Mark Stoops margaritas. We got to sell those Shannon in case they lose to South Carolina and Georgia. Have to rename it to something else. Yeah but. But 2 and $3, I feel like that's pretty good. And I wanted to say about ksbar, we are very proud. Like, I'm not just saying this, so I've always been proud of having the place and at time and, like, I'm very proud of the wings and the cheese logs. But overall, I thought the food was good, but it wasn't great. And we wanted to fix it and we took the time off to. During the break to do it. And the food is good. Like, it's really good. I'm genuinely proud of it, and I. If you have it, please come. And especially while I'm gone. Place needs to. To Will need business while I'm gone. We also don't have a home game for a month. Please go visit them for these games. NFL or college football or the Kentucky game Saturday. But the food is genuinely good, and people have worked really hard, our staff. So please go check it out. I. I think you will like it, and if you don't, we'll fix it. And if. And if that doesn't work, you can punch, right? I think those.
Shannon Dawson
Those are all right.
Matt Jones
Not hard. Not hard, but, like, just like a love tap, you know, you've been getting.
Shannon Dawson
A lot of belly slaps. The last couple of remotes, I've been quietly counting the belly slaps that.
Ryan Lemond
Ryan.
Matt Jones
It just sticks out there. And I like to hit it because, first of all, you have a belly. But Ryan, I will say it's a hard belly. You have, like, amongst the belly is like, abs of steel.
Shannon Dawson
Ryan's, like, if you hit.
Matt Jones
If you. If you hit most people's belly, it wiggles. Right? Ryan's is a hard belly, and I think that's why it's fun to hit, because it just. It, like, I feel like it doesn't hurt, does it? Ryan, you're.
Caller
You're.
Matt Jones
You have abs of steel.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, I was worried about your hand hurting your hand, because it doesn't bother me at all.
Shannon Dawson
Like, there's an over under on DraftKings. 1 1/2 better belly slaps per remote for Ryan show.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
It's a new sign of affection. Ryan, I hope you feel that way.
Ryan Lemond
I will, you know, bring it on.
Matt Jones
Okay, now you can bring it on.
Shannon Dawson
He likes it.
Matt Jones
You know what? I'm excited about Ryan living.
Ryan Lemond
What's that?
Matt Jones
I think the Reds are back.
Ryan Lemond
Oh, come on.
Matt Jones
Oh, here. It's.
Ryan Lemond
It's September, man. They're out.
Shannon Dawson
They're dead.
Ryan Lemond
Go.
Matt Jones
Well, let me just a couple facts. 16 games to go, Ryan, they're only two games back. Okay. They're two games back.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Mets are ahead of them. They're tied with the Giants. But here's the key. They have the tiebreaker on both those teams.
Ryan Lemond
Oh, they do.
Matt Jones
They have the tiebreaker on both the Mets.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And the Giants. So if they finish tied, they win. So really, they're two games back. But that's all. That's all that matters. Now, their schedule. They play the A's Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
Ryan Lemond
Those are winnable.
Matt Jones
Then they play your Cardinals. Then they play. I think they play the Pirates. They play the Cubs and the Brewers. Now, the Cubs and the brewers have given them fits for a long time, but they're in it. I'm not saying they're going to do it. They've given away games. But I was. I was up last night. I. Listen, I'd given up, and I still think it's unlikely. I think Major League Baseball has them as a 10% chance, but they're in it, Ryan. And that's kind of exciting. The Mets have lost five straight trying to give us a chance.
Ryan Lemond
So they. They finished the season, though, with the Cubs and the Brewers. That's what they wrap up the season with.
Matt Jones
They go. I think they. Pirates. They go A's. I think they have A's. Cardinals, Cubs, Pirates, Brewers.
Shannon Dawson
Correct.
Matt Jones
I think that's. That's what they have left.
Shannon Dawson
Yep.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. The brewers may be resting their people. Maybe that last series, they've already clinched the spot.
Shannon Dawson
That's true.
Matt Jones
Oh, that's true. I hadn't thought about that. They may be trying to get their pitching staff in order. Right.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. Yeah.
Matt Jones
So I hadn't thought about that, Shannon. That's a new little wrinkle.
Shannon Dawson
But you got to be. You got to still be in it when you get to that series. You can't lose to the A's.
Matt Jones
Yeah. I mean, they've got to win two of three against the A's. You'd like to have a sweep, but they've got to win. I think they just. I think you look at that, Drew, and you just say, we got to win every series. Right. Two of three. Two of three, and all those series, and then you might have a chance.
Drew Franklin
I'm more interested in if you're learning a lesson on. On giving up. I remember the west coast swing. I was like, matt, it's early August. How are you throwing in the towel? And it's. They're the worst ever. They don't even deserve to be in the major leagues. They should go down to the minors. And now a month later, you're like, well, we're back. Maybe you should just. Just give them a little time.
Matt Jones
A couple things have changed. Their whole pitching staff is healthy right now. Nick Lodolo fixed his stupid blister, right? Hunter Green is do like looking like Hunter Green. Fat Damon had a good night last night. Then they brought this dude named Sal up. We met his dad, Ryan, at the. At the game. Right, Sal? Stew, we met his dad.
Ryan Lemond
That's right.
Matt Jones
I don't remember, but he seems to have made a great impression on you.
Ryan Lemond
I don't know.
Matt Jones
Wait a minute. You, like, didn't talk to him because you were so mesmerized by the batting practice?
Ryan Lemond
I was. During batting practice? No, I was not focused on meeting him.
Matt Jones
He talked to us for, like, 10 minutes.
Ryan Lemond
Did you not gaze? This is news to me, and I'm standing right there.
Matt Jones
You didn't speak to the guy?
Ryan Lemond
No. I wish I would have known.
Matt Jones
He had immigrated to America from Cuba, and he was all proud of his son, and we were talking to him. You didn't speak to him?
Ryan Lemond
This happened during what we're watching.
Matt Jones
Batting practice happen during batting practice?
Ryan Lemond
No, I said to him.
Matt Jones
He was standing there, and I looked at him and said, congratulations on your son. And he came over, and he talked to me and Tall and Mario. And. Did you not say hi to him? No.
Ryan Lemond
I had no idea this was going on. TJ Friedel may have been in the cage at that time, and I'm not taking my laser focus off of him.
Matt Jones
Like, the kind of story he would like. He was talking about how he'd come to America and say Salad worked hard, and Sal was, like, the nice. Like, the hardest worker.
Ryan Lemond
Mario says he doesn't remember either. We're watching betting practice, I guess, because I have no idea.
Matt Jones
Mario doesn't remember either? No.
Drew Franklin
Matt, was this a dream? Is Sal's dad in the room with us right now? Is Sal's dad in the room there?
Matt Jones
Mario may not have been over there because he was on the other side with that man rubbing on him. On the other side.
Drew Franklin
Hear more about that?
Shannon Dawson
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
Mario's personal mic.
Drew Franklin
Here you go, Mario.
Matt Jones
Mario, tell them about the man at the Reds batting practice rubbing on you.
Drew Franklin
Did you hear that, Mario?
Matt Jones
What did he say? He said, tell him about the man. The man on the batting practice rubbing on you. Yeah, well, I wouldn't say rubbing on me, but, like, I was next to Ryan, and then there was this dude who was, like, about five feet behind me, and I seen him, and he was watching.
Drew Franklin
And as 15 minutes went by, he was getting closer and closer to me.
Matt Jones
By the time it was like, we're.
Drew Franklin
Ending out the batting practice, he's like.
Matt Jones
Right in front of me. Like, he was, like, giving him a massage. That's what he was doing. And I'm like, bro, like.
Drew Franklin
And he apologized twice. He's like, I'm sorry. Sorry about that. I was like, can you stop?
Matt Jones
Like, can you give me some space? That's exactly what happened. Yeah, he.
Drew Franklin
I guess he wanted to touch me.
Matt Jones
Or something like that. I don't know.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. Mario talked about it relieving. He goes, man, that guy was all my personal space. I'm like, what guy? I had no idea what he was talking about.
Matt Jones
So you didn't see the guy in Mario space, and you didn't meet Sal Stewart's dad? Nope.
Ryan Lemond
Nope. But I saw TJ Friedle take batting practice.
Matt Jones
Shannon. That's how into it he was. He didn't let anything stop him. This man comes over with tears in his eyes, talking about how proud he is of his rookie son. And Ryan's like, Shut up. Matt McLean's hitting. I don't want to hear it.
Shannon Dawson
Sound like a lot going on there. Between Ryan being mesmerized with the BP and Mario getting rubbed, there's a lot happening.
Ryan Lemond
Trying to holler at Colin Cowgill to come and talk to us and get shushed. Ryan, you can't do that.
Matt Jones
Yeah, he. He yelled at. So they specific. They had one rule. Shannon drew one rule as we walked out. They said, don't yell at the players or coaches. The only rule they said, like, saying, like, come here. Right? They were like, they're here, Frank Kona. But I wasn't going to yell at him. What was that? I wasn't gonna be like, really? Will you come say hi? Like, I wasn't gonna do that. But you know who did?
Shannon Dawson
Ryan.
Matt Jones
Ryan limp. And of all people, he didn't yell at the players or Terry Francona. He yelled at the first base coach. He yelled at Colin Cowgill, who played at Kentucky, and he kept going, colin, Colin, Colin. And the Reds guy was like, this.
Shannon Dawson
Is a major league baseball team in the hunt for the playoffs, and Ryan's trying to fly down for the playoffs.
Matt Jones
And he's sitting there yelling at people.
Ryan Lemond
Well, Collins done. He did his drills. He was done. He was just kind of hanging out there, say, hey, man, what you come over here.
Matt Jones
He didn't respond.
Ryan Lemond
Didn't respond.
Matt Jones
You know what I did?
Shannon Dawson
Shannon, what's up?
Matt Jones
I just said, go Cats. And then he turned around.
Ryan Lemond
He did? Yeah, he did do that.
Matt Jones
Then he turned around.
Ryan Lemond
He's a Henry Clay Blue Devil. He's one of us. You know, I wanted to talk to him.
Matt Jones
They literally, they had one rule, Drew. Do not yell at the players and coaches. Ryan broke it in three minutes.
Shannon Dawson
I don't feel like he's one of you. Ryan, you say he's one of us. He's not. He's really not. You want to be one of him?
Matt Jones
I think that's exactly right.
Shannon Dawson
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Brian wishes he was him. Who's next?
Shannon Dawson
Pickleball Paul.
Matt Jones
Pickleball Paul, how are you? 859-280-2287.
Caller
Fine. What's going on? Matt? I think yesterday was a horrible tragedy for our country. Talking about the football team. I don't get to listen to your show a whole lot lately and I've been listening this morning and it's quarterback, quarterback, quarterback, quarterback. I've been watching this for two, three years now, actually. In my opinion, longer than that. I don't think Tom Brady or Joe Montana would win. I don't think it's a quarterback problem. I think we're better on the line. I think our defense is pretty good. Our runners run hard, but when it's third and eight, you throw it two yards behind the line of scrimmage or you can't get a playoff. I think there's one constant here that we've had the problem for years. It's the offensive coordinator and the head coach. And I don't know why any what they call skilled athlete, quarterback, wide receiver, tight end would. Would want to come play. I. I don't think Zach Calzada is necessarily bad. I don't know if cuter poly is going to be good until they change the system here. I don't. I think we're wasting our time talking about who's quarterback. And I was curious about your Yalls opinions especially good friend.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Well, that's a good question. Ryan, what do you think?
Ryan Lemond
I think there's some truth in the fact that our offensive line is good this year and our running game is good this year. But for whatever reason, the passing game and the receivers maybe not there yet. So I don't think we're going to coaches. Yeah. And I don't think they've got a choice. I think the choice this year is we're going to have to just ground it and pound it and run the football if we're going to have any kind of success. And I don't think that's going to change.
Matt Jones
I mean, you. I think it's fair to say, though, that part of the reason Dane and Barry and left is the question of whether or not they could reach their potential here. Do you put that on the coaches?
Ryan Lemond
I do. I think some of the writing was on the wall that this offensive scheme was not going to change and the passing game was going to kind of diminish a little bit. And I think those two guys saw that coming.
Matt Jones
And what do you mean by that? The offensive scheme was not going to change? Like what. What was in. What was wrong?
Ryan Lemond
I think the offensive scheme they currently have just focuses so much and the head coach running game, ground and pounded move the change that way, field position, time clock, you know, to run as much time as you can. And I think they've steered away from the passing game that kind of. With Liam Cohen kind of tried to put in. And I think that. I think the guys knew that with Bush coming back and Snoop still here, things weren't going to change from last year at all.
Matt Jones
Drew, do you agree with that?
Drew Franklin
Yes. And I hate saying this out loud as a Kentucky fan, but I don't know what they show wide receiver recruits, what they pitch them, like when they go into a home. What are they pointing at from there?
Matt Jones
Really, though, you're right.
Drew Franklin
Like, I don't even know how they get receivers as it is. So to have Dana Barry on, I mean, I've said many times if I were Dana Barry on, I would have left. Like, this is just. Has never been a. A passing offense where we're lighting up scoreboards and putting up big yards. It's never been that. I mean, Wandell was special. He was one of a kind. And we've had a few guys. A big Garrett Johnson fan back in the day, he had a good year. But overall, this is not really a great destination for wide receivers, period.
Ryan Lemond
And what's crazy, remember when suits first got here, they brought in Neil Brown to do the Air Raid and Shannon Dawson was supposed to do the Air Raid. I don't know what happened to that philosophy, but it definitely is not anything close to that right now.
Matt Jones
Yeah, well, I mean, I think that's a good discussion. I appreciate the call, Paul. I mean, yeah, it's easy to say, well, it's the quarterback, it's the receivers, but maybe you just have a system that's just not going to let those guys shine no matter what.
Ryan Lemond
And I think it's what we got right now.
Drew Franklin
And tight ends come here and become blockers. I mean, it's always been that way with Stoops. We've had some promising tight ends and they come here and don't do anything because they're having to help out an offensive line that didn't do its job or whatever. They don't have a quarterback. Receivers and tight ends have been pretty non existent the whole time, at least putting up big numbers.

Shannon Dawson
I believe him.
Matt Jones
I like that he writes that. I'm Richie Farmer. I'm a cheeseburger connoisseur. He should get a T shirt.
Ryan Lemond
He should.
Matt Jones
I'm Rich Farmer. I'm a cheeseburger connoisseur. We'll take a break. Be right back. Ksr. You know, I love this song. Shannon.
Shannon Dawson
Yep. John.
Matt Jones
Ways away. That's why it works. And I love it. And he's going to be a Bourbon and beyond today too, right?
Shannon Dawson
That's right. Yeah. It's a good lineup today.
Matt Jones
Can he still hit these notes?
Shannon Dawson
I'll tell you. I'll tell you.
Matt Jones
Think he can?
Shannon Dawson
I'll tell you in October when I talk to you.
Drew Franklin
Next.
Matt Jones
What time's he playing? Like, if I were in Louisville, I would go just to hear he's playing.
Shannon Dawson
From 7:25 till 8:15.
Matt Jones
Is he just singing this song over and over?
Shannon Dawson
I think they've got other songs. I think we're just. We just know the hits.
Matt Jones
You think he has other songs up there? Everybody's gonna be like, shut up. Just sing. Missing, right?
Shannon Dawson
Yeah. I mean, that's the only reason you sit there and wait for him to play.
Matt Jones
So who else is on the lineup today? Read me the big one.
Shannon Dawson
All right, so today, the Lumineers. They're the headlines.
Matt Jones
Lumine. You like the Lumineers, don't you, Drew?
Drew Franklin
Yes. They're the reason I'M going and to see Benson Boone to a front flip.
Matt Jones
But yeah, so I like the Lumineers.
Shannon Dawson
You know, like one song from the Lumineers, right? Ho.
Matt Jones
I know a couple they, they sang at Willie Nelson's 90th birthday. I went to. They sang Pretty Paper, which was awesome. That was one of my favorite performances at Willie Nelson's birthday. So I like the.
Shannon Dawson
So you got Pat Benatar.
Matt Jones
Yeah, he said Ben. So Benson Boone is tonight, right? He's going to backflip in his little costume. Yeah.
Shannon Dawson
Alabama Shakes, who I've already played.
Matt Jones
Go back to Pat Benatar. What's her song?
Shannon Dawson
Heartbreaker.
Ryan Lemond
With your best shot.
Matt Jones
Alabama Shakes has got that one woman. She's got a really good voice. What's her name? They had one song that was big, but I played it already. Yeah, yeah, I've heard them all. Right, what else?
Shannon Dawson
Well, the band that I think is going to be the best one of the night, Collective Soul will be playing there.
Matt Jones
Okay, so they had a lot of stuff. What was their big one?
Shannon Dawson
December?
Matt Jones
A bunch of them. Right. Okay.
Shannon Dawson
I'm trying to think of some. Cage the Elephant. They're a Kentucky band now.
Matt Jones
Who is Cage the Elf?
Shannon Dawson
Ain't no Rest for the Wicked. I'll play them next. You know that song from Bowling Green, right?
Matt Jones
Yeah, Bowling Green, right. Okay. Yeah.
Shannon Dawson
And then Blind Melon.
Matt Jones
Yeah, of course you played that. I Love that.
Shannon Dawson
Old 97s. I don't know if you know who they are or not.
Matt Jones
That's country, isn't it? That's like rockabilly.
Shannon Dawson
Yeah, I think so. The rest of them, I don't think you would know. TV on the radio, you probably don't know that band. Yeah, that's, that's pretty much it for the band. You would probably.
Matt Jones
Okay, well, that's good. So you. Drew's going for Benson Boone because you need to do the backflips, right? Yeah.
Drew Franklin
I would dress as him if I had time to find the costume. I won't backflip, but I am interested. Yeah, I'm ready for the Benson Boone Experience. Somebody wrote me yesterday and they're kind of like me. They don't know anything about him. I can't name a song, but they said they went to a show. It is incredible. So I'm, I'm ready to see something that I don't even know what it is, but I'm excited about.
Matt Jones
What is his song. It's like, beautiful. Yeah.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, I, I, I butchered that and I don't really know the words.
Matt Jones
There we go.
Ryan Lemond
I want you. I need you.
Drew Franklin
I.
Matt Jones
Okay, okay. Turn his mic down. Stop. Okay, that's plenty. Okay, well, that sounds like a good day. And so you're going out there, Drew, Shannon, you're gonna be out there.
Drew Franklin
This is my first time, right?
Shannon Dawson
The whole time. Yeah. Yep. For all four days.
Drew Franklin
And any tips, Shannon, for a rookie?
Shannon Dawson
Well, yeah, you could bring in an empty bottle of water and they've got. No, no, no.
Drew Franklin
You want me to just come in.
Shannon Dawson
And litter before you laugh.
Matt Jones
Before you laugh. How generous.
Shannon Dawson
All right, just.
Matt Jones
We'll move on.
Drew Franklin
No, I'm kidding. I'm sorry.
Matt Jones
That's just a funny thing to say. You can. Empty bottle of water.
Shannon Dawson
Let's move on.
Matt Jones
No, go ahead, go ahead. I'm sorry.
Ryan Lemond
Now I want to know why you got to bring an empty bottle.
Shannon Dawson
Because first of all, if you're going to be drinking alcohol, you might want to drink some water and mix that in. That's good, right? So they've got filling stations out there where you can get free water. If you have a bottle of water, like empty, you can't bring it in, but you can fill it up for free. You can get free water instead of having to pay $8 for a bottle of water.
Matt Jones
So can you bring.
Drew Franklin
I saw. No, no. You can bring one 20 ounce sealed water. No more than 20. No yetis, no thermoses. So I already have my 20 ounce water factory sealed, ready to go.
Shannon Dawson
Yeah, if it's factory sealed. Yeah, that's right.
Drew Franklin
But only one of those.
Shannon Dawson
They don't want you bringing in vodka, though.
Drew Franklin
And not 21 ounces, just 20.
Matt Jones
It has to be factory sealed or.
Shannon Dawson
Empty, just so you're not bringing in vodka.
Matt Jones
Just like. All right, how's it work? Bring in one bottle, one plastic bottle. You're good.
Shannon Dawson
You laugh, but I'm telling you, when it's hot out there and you've been out there for 12 hours, it's. It's a good thing.
Matt Jones
It's supposed to be hot, like all weekend, isn't it?
Shannon Dawson
Like early low 90s, 85, something like that? Yeah.
Matt Jones
Oh, okay. That's not too bad. That's not too bad. All right, who's next?
Shannon Dawson
All right, let's go to Big Rig.
Matt Jones
Big Rig, go ahead.
Caller
How y' all doing today? Matt has a trip.
Matt Jones
Thank you.
Caller
Yeah, you're welcome. Yet I got a hypothetical question for you. I want your all's opinion on this. When, if so, let's say Stoops is.
Matt Jones
Not here at the end of the year.
Caller
Who would you think would be a good replacement. Me, myself and my son thank John Summerall.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I mean, I think that's what most people would say right now. You know, there's a lot of time left. I appreciate the call. I think Tulane plays Duke and then Ole Miss over the next two weeks. So you win those two games, as Drew has talked about, you might not. He might be better than you at this point. Right. He might end up getting a job that's a lot better than a Kentucky job would be. Everybody, Everybody points to him. I think it makes a lot of sense. Drew, I think there's a good chance that if the season goes poorly, he's the favorite. If the season were to go well and then Stoops leaves, we've talked about. I think Brad White could be the replacement. But, I mean, I know the fans. There's a large segment of fans that would want John Sumrall.
Drew Franklin
Absolutely. There are people out there dying for him now. I mean, you could have a scenario where you have a former player in Mark Pope leading basketball and a former player in John Sumrall leading football. Both young, up and coming coaches in their sport. And some raw has just got that attitude that fits the Kentucky brand. He doesn't mind being an underdog. I think he would fully embrace that role here. And that's why so many people want him. The fact that, I mean, he's already been amazing at Tulane. What's that?
Matt Jones
Do you know him? Like, are you. Is that someone you know from your old days of being here?
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, I covered him when he played here. I mean, I. I know him just from that aspect. And of course, you know, he was on the staff here for a little bit, so he's been around.
Matt Jones
He know who you are. Like, are you all like. Because I don't know that I've ever really had a conversation with him.
Ryan Lemond
I could say it was 20 years ago when he played here. But, you know, he was a linebacker, started for the Kentucky Wildcats. So, you know, I know him, but he don't know if he remember me or not.
Drew Franklin
He likes my tweets, so I feel like we're best friends. Feel like that's a. That's a connection.
Matt Jones
Like he likes your tweets.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, I feel like that we're basically boys at that point.
Matt Jones
Okay, well, that's good. He follows stuff. I mean, he's written me a couple times over the years, just like messages, but I don't know him at all because I just don't know what I'm wondering. Just on a personality Standpoint, because I don't really know. Yeah, I don't know a lot about him in that respect. 859-280-2287. We will take a break. Take your calls. Want to talk about a couple other things before I head off to different continents. Kentucky Sports Radio, TJ Smith, personal injury attorney.
Ryan Lemond
Call tj he'll make him pay.
Shannon Dawson
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. So who is this Cage the Elephant?
Matt Jones
This is the band from Bowling Green, Kentucky group, right?
Shannon Dawson
That's right. Yep.
Matt Jones
All right. 859-280-2287. Text machine 772-774-5254. So tomorrow these guys will be at Clark's Pumping Shop with UK volleyball players. Two of them, you said, Ryan?
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, we've got two of them. Brooklyn Delay and Molly Tazo. Is that I pronounce her last name.
Matt Jones
You have to get her name right between now and tomorrow.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, they got beat last night.
Matt Jones
They can get beat last night by Penn State and quite a run here of playing in big games. But they did lose last night.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, but still a lot of excitement. They got a big home weekend, I think this weekend. So they're going to come out and talk to us and try to drum up some support for the weekend games.
Matt Jones
And then, so then Saturday UK game. The game is at 7:30. Pregame show will start at 3:30 from KS Bar. We will be open all day. You can go see the guys. They'll be there with with Adam Luggett. They'll be doing the pregame show. Come say hi to him, watch the game there. What kind of crowd we expecting at the game Saturday, Drew? Give me percentage. The stadium will be full.
Drew Franklin
Ooh, full stadium. Yikes. You want the percentage chance we can fill it or just how full I think it'll get? Because I'm going to say filling it. 68.7%.
Matt Jones
68.7% full. Okay.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. Even Ole Miss had huge. The corners across from me were completely empty for a top 10 opponent. A little disappointing there, even though the atmosphere was a little better from the week before. I just don't know that they're going to go into the game for Eastern Michigan. But I think the tailgating scene will be good.
Matt Jones
They have all day. Is weather supposed to be good? If it is, I mean, that's a Saturday night in September. That's a pretty good. Pretty good atmosphere.
Drew Franklin
It's actually supposed to get hot again.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Big game. Supposed to be Georgia Tennessee this Saturday. Tennessee hasn't beaten Georgia since 2017. They are at home with college game day with a quarterback that's new. Are the balls going to finally get off the nod? No.
Ryan Lemond
That'S my prediction that. No, I know nothing about this guy. What, he transferred from USC or ucla, right? They're starting quarterback now. Lake Layaway.
Matt Jones
Georgia's got Gunner, Stockton. You're talking about the Tennessee. Tennessee's got. Aguilar is their quarterback.
Ryan Lemond
He just transferred from like West Coast, USC or UCLA or something. Is that right? Because that's where Lele went. They like changed quarterbacks, didn't they?
Matt Jones
You're prepared for this game, right? Yeah, it sounds like that's why I'm picking Georgia for that one.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, I don't know any of those people he was mentioning.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I don't think most of those people. I don't think Shannon are real people that he mentioned in his. In his prediction.
Shannon Dawson
He came from Appalachian State, right?
Matt Jones
Yeah, I think he did. I think you're right. Appalachian State. I think Tennessee has a chance to finally get one on Georgia. This is not quite the Georgia team that they've had in some other years. Who's next?
Shannon Dawson
Let's go to J Rock.
Matt Jones
J Rock. By the way, I'll also be watching Ole Miss. Arkansas. Ole Miss hosting Arkansas. I might get a sense of how good Ole Miss is or isn't in that game. J Rock, go ahead.
Caller
Hey. Hi. Can you hear me?
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Caller
I don't know why everything goes so slow on this call, but I just wanted to call Matt and apologize for my language on your tweet yesterday. You made a nice tweet and these dummies try to take over.
Matt Jones
Well, I appreciate it. There were. There were a lot of dummies, but again, look at how many people liked it, how many people sent nice comments. And don't let a handful of dummies take away your faith in humanity. Or at least that's what I try.
Caller
Right. You know, Jay Rock called him after my homie Matthew. I hope everybody's doing good, but Hollow.
Matt Jones
There you go. I appreciate the call, J Rock. J Rock was taken up for me yesterday. I appreciated that. Who's next?
Shannon Dawson
Seth.
Matt Jones
Seth. Go ahead, Seth.
Caller
Yeah. Have the. I work in experience. And so I thought I'd kind of do a quick evaluation of Kentucky football games. And it's really.
Matt Jones
Before you do that, when you said I work in experience, what does that mean?
Caller
Yes, I work in tourism. And the idea is, is what I do now is sort of evaluate attractions, restaurants, hotels, and help improve them so visitors will want to come in.
Matt Jones
Gotcha. Okay, so what, what is your read on the UK football stadium then?
Caller
Did a certification this year in a book called the Experience Economy. And I'll give you the five stages of an experience and we can if you want to go through them. First one is enticing. I'd say they failed pretty hard considering that they didn't give the fans any information about the. The team. They didn't entice them to come to the games. We didn't know anything about them. We didn't build any relationships. Kind of failed. Next would be entering. So it's never fun entering a big college stadium, but Commonwealth is no different. Entering the stadium is not what I would call a pleasant experience just because it's so hard to get in and get parked. And I'd say that also goes second for all the movement with the tailgaters the past couple years.
Matt Jones
Okay, that's interesting. So I like that enticement, entering. I agree with you. It is hard to go to those games, especially more now because of parking, et cetera. Some of that. There's not a lot they can do about some of that. They've changed and kind of made actively worse. But. Okay. What's the third one?
Caller
Yep, this is. This is the easy. Sadly, we have to give it an F. Is engaging. So the. The in game experience is poor. From wi fi to music selection to the play on the field. We got to be honest, you can even say that Stoops runs a boring type of offense. It's not engaging to the fans spending money.
Matt Jones
Fair enough. I like it. What's the fourth one?
Caller
And if you enter, you have to exit. And exiting Commonwealth Stadium is not fun only is it?
Matt Jones
Exiting is brutal.
Caller
Oh, it's brutal. And then add that. So you know, things aren't as brutal after a win, but they are much more brutal after a loss.
Matt Jones
Very true.
Caller
And finally. Exactly. And finally extending. I mean, you know, they don't really do anything to bring you back. So you could go all the way down to the play on the field, coaching and stuff. New coaching, new, whatever, that's one thing. But then there is, you know, I think they're going to really struggle this weekend with Eastern Michigan in extending people to come back. Are there any ticket deals? Are there any specials? Where are people getting value to come see this team play Saturday night?
Matt Jones
And I don't think they're doing enticing entrance, engaging, exiting and extending. A lot of ease there.
Caller
Yeah, that makes it easy to remember.
Matt Jones
Well, I appreciate the call that all makes Complete sense to me, Ryan. I mean, those are. It seems like they're kind of common sense things, but I also like how they're sort of put up like that. And I do think Kentucky does a poor job at all of those. And they all kind of. They all kind of fit in into trying to make people want to be at the game.
Ryan Lemond
He laid out the thought process that we've had for years about what they can do and can't do over there at Kroger Field.
Matt Jones
Would you hire. Would you hire a company like that to do work for you?
Shannon Dawson
Seem like you had to figure it out to me.
Ryan Lemond
Exactly. I think you. They got it. They got to look into something like that.
Shannon Dawson
Gave you a one pitch and he won. I think most of us over. There you go.
Matt Jones
I think it was. I think it was because they were all ease. I like alliteration, Drew. I always have. I kind of like when you have like a bam. A bama. Bam. Yeah.
Drew Franklin
And as you all mentioned, I hope UK is actually looking into this on their own. We have professionals calling in. We have people that go to the games with suggestions. But the people that are actually making decisions, I hope they're taking this seriously.
Matt Jones
They have to do that. Jaden Quaintance. Apparently Drew has put on, according to UK, 40 pounds since he arrived in Lexington. That's a massive amount of weight. Malachi Moreno has put on 20. Cam Williams, 15. Jaden Hawthorne, 15. We're not. See me. What's the Hawthorne's kids first name? I'm sorry, I don't think I know. Brayden Braden. I said Jaden. That is a total of what, 90 pounds added just by those four guys. Drew, what do you make of that? Getting them all strong or good eating? What do you. What do you think it is with Quadens?
Drew Franklin
You might want to get that checked out. I don't know that 40 pounds in two months is a positive. I think they might have cooked the books a little too much on Quaintance's weight gain. That I'm not an expert, but £40 over the course of the summer seems like a whole lot. But the freshman especially, including him. I'm glad they are gaining some weight. The numbers I don't know that I completely believe. But we need that strength program going. Well. A guy like Hawthorne's tiny. That's the big knock on him. So he especially. I'm glad they're bulking up. But 40, I don't know about the 40.
Matt Jones
40. 40 pounds of muscle.
Shannon Dawson
And no, I don't think I could put on 40 pounds of fat in two months if I wanted to. If I just sat around and ate Skyline chili and sugar cookies all day, every day, I couldn't gain £40.
Matt Jones
Think about that. If you could all day have chili.
Shannon Dawson
And sugar cookies, like, I don't think I would gain. I would gain some weight. But 40 in two months and stretch.
Matt Jones
But then you're lifting weights maybe. What? Creatine? Is that what people take?
Shannon Dawson
Yeah. Yeah.
Matt Jones
P. What's. What's the hormones? The pcp? No, it's not pcp.
Drew Franklin
I hope he's not taking pcp.
Matt Jones
Maybe he just got to get them under control.
Shannon Dawson
Thc.
Matt Jones
What am I talking about? Not thc, not pcp, not cbd. What's the. That you take when you're. People take when they lift weights? The human growth hormone. The hgh. There you go.
Ryan Lemond
There we go.
Drew Franklin
Lsd. They're all lsd.
Ryan Lemond
Maybe just a big fan of the Dollar Wings and Wings day. KS Bar.
Matt Jones
Maybe just get those psc, LSD and thc.
Shannon Dawson
Nets player threw a no hitter on LSD back in the day.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Who. Who is that?
Shannon Dawson
What was his name?
Ryan Lemond
Doc Ellis.
Shannon Dawson
Doc Ellis threw a no hitter on LSD for the Pirates. Yeah, it was the Pirates. Okay.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Is that true?
Shannon Dawson
Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. He admitted years later that he was high as a kite because he didn't think he's got to pitch that day.
Shannon Dawson
Starting pitcher. He thought he was off that day. His girlfriend or wife, whoever it was, woke up and saw the paper and says, hey, they're listing you as the starting pitcher. You need to get to the stadium now. After he had just dropped LSD and he pitched to no hitter.
Ryan Lemond
True story.
Shannon Dawson
Look it up on YouTube while you're waiting for your flight today. I mean, it's. There's a fascinating video out there. Yeah.
Matt Jones
All right, well, that's cool. My flight's tomorrow, but I will. I'll read about that tomorrow. Kentucky Chamber is working on important issues Kentuckians are facing. We'll take a break and come back. Final segments, KSR. Drew. Sue Drew's excited to see tonight, right?
Drew Franklin
It's my guy. I don't know what this is called, but I'm ready to see it.
Ryan Lemond
Beautiful front flip.
Drew Franklin
I don't even, like, listen to it in my free time. I just. I saw the Grammys. It looked cool. I want to see it again, that's all.
Matt Jones
If he does a flip. Oh, there.
Drew Franklin
There will be problems at Bourbon Beyond. If I drive to Louisville and I don't get the Benson Boone flip, I'll do the flip.
Matt Jones
That's the beyond all the time. Do you know?
Drew Franklin
I don't know anything about him. I'm just assuming that he flips. So I'm going for the flip and the lumineers.
Matt Jones
Wow. Well, if he doesn't flip, you might be very, very sad. I don't know if he's going to.
Shannon Dawson
Does he always wear the Freddie Mercury jumpsuit?
Drew Franklin
He better.
Matt Jones
He should.
Shannon Dawson
What is that thing? Like a. What do you call that?
Matt Jones
It's a. It's like an Elvis jumpsuit.
Shannon Dawson
Body suit or something. I don't know.
Matt Jones
Leisure suit?
Shannon Dawson
Well, I don't think it's that. It's like a tight bodysuit.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I think that's what it's called. Lake 59280, 2287. The text machine is 772-774-5254. Kentucky. So tonight you got the Washington Commanders and the Green Bay packers. You go to DraftKings, bet five, get $200. We'll have it at the bar tonight with $2 Bud Lights and $3 mixed drinks. I think that's pretty crazy praise. Crazy good. And it's a good game for the nfc. Shannon, it's your team. I'll let you pick first who you got tonight.
Shannon Dawson
Go Pack, go. They half point favorite. I'm taking the packers and the points.
Matt Jones
Packers and the points. All right. What about you, Ryan?
Ryan Lemond
After the packers broke Shannon's heart last week on his parlay the red, the former team formerly known as the Redskins Commanders come in and break your heart again tonight, Shannon.
Shannon Dawson
Not going to happen. That's okay.
Matt Jones
All right, Drew, why did. Wait a minute. Why did the. Why did the pack didn't the packers win? Why did it break your heart on the part?
Shannon Dawson
Oh, because I had like a six leg parlay and all I needed was Jordan Love 200 yards or more, 167 at halftime and only three for 20 yards in the second half. Because they ran the ball.
Matt Jones
Yeah, but they won. I mean, they look great in that game. They won and played excellent. Who's that, Drew?
Drew Franklin
Who's next? I'm next up. Packers win, but I think we're in for a close game. Three and a half too many points. But packers win.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Thursday night. Thursday night football tends to. To lean towards the home team because they haven't had the other team hasn't as much rest and has to travel. So I'm going to take the packers certainly to win and I'll be like, Shannon, I think they'll cover as well. Give me the Packers. Who's up next?
Shannon Dawson
Tyler.
Matt Jones
Tyler, go ahead, Tyler.
Caller
Hi, first time caller.
Matt Jones
Who are.
Caller
I wanted to make a comment about Jaden Quaintance. I saw his video that they put out earlier this week. I guess it was of him jumping a little bit. As a physical therapist, I. I know that we're going to get four weeks down the road and there's going to be a bunch of people upset that he's not playing. So I just wanted to throw this out there that he still has several things he has to get through before he's playing in a college basketball game.
Matt Jones
What do you mean?
Caller
So he. So he was jumping off two legs, landing on two legs. So he's got to be able to one, control his knee because the knee was still caving in, which is how you tear your ACL to begin with. So he has to keep working on that. He's got to be able to go side to side. He has to be able to jump off one foot, land on that foot. Then he has to be able to do it while getting bumped in the air and not knowing what his landing situation is going to be.
Matt Jones
And then he has to be over saying, you do this work?
Caller
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Okay. Well, I mean, like. But you don't just. Cause that video, you didn't seem do it doesn't mean he's not doing it. Right. I mean, just because it wasn't in that video doesn't mean that he's not doing those things.
Caller
That's true. But there's a protocol that you follow. And I'm just saying a lot of people want him there for the Louisville game and that's very ambitious.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Caller
People don't get mad in a few weeks.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I've heard. On a personal level and I appreciate the call, Drew, that they're, they're targeting January as the hope. I don't know if that'll be when it is, but that's the, that's the target. We'll see if that ends up happening. I don't think anybody necessarily thinks he's going to be playing in November, at least that I have heard. Have you? No.
Drew Franklin
And people got a little freaked out because a few days ago. Pope made some comments. I think maybe Rothstein or somebody that said quaintance is nowhere close to contact, which sounds a little scary, but that's also the timeline they've known from the beginning. So there's a little bit of overreaction to hearing he's not close to contact. But they could have told you that months ago. He wouldn't be contacting now. Everything's still on plan. It's just he's. I think Pope said right now the next three weeks with him are a lot of just strength training, and he's still far away from actual basketball.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I think that's. I would say think about January and base your starting time on that. Who's next?
Shannon Dawson
Junior.
Matt Jones
Junior, go ahead.
Caller
Yeah. I want to circle back to yesterday's conversation about Calzada and Boli and the money we spent. What did. I'm sure in Bowley's mind he thought he was ready to be the guy. Probably the bigger question going forward, what's insane to Stone Saunders and Matt Ponotowski if.
Matt Jones
Well, they have to get. No, guys don't sign. With the very rare exception, you know, there might be one or two guys a year. True freshmen out of high school don't sign expecting to start right away. And if you start true freshman out of high school right away, chances are you ain't gonna be very good.
Caller
It.
Matt Jones
So, I mean, pot attack that Stone Saunders. Those guys can't expect to come in and start year one. That doesn't happen.
Caller
I. I agree with you on. You can't expect to start right out of high school. But you should think, if I'm Stone Saunders, then, hey, I'm gonna be quarterback three, then I'm gonna be quarterback two, and then I'm gonna be the guy.
Matt Jones
Why can't they think that? Why can't he think that?
Caller
Because Stone Saunders went from should have been two to back to three because we brought in Calzada.
Matt Jones
Yeah, well, but maybe he wasn't ready. I mean, like, you don't. The thing is, you don't see any of these guys practice. I mean, I think that's. That. That's part of it. I'll say this. Great programs across the country, they bring in a quarterback every year, most of them. So why would ours be expected to be different?
Caller
One last point is my hot take. Matt Ponotowski will not play a down for Mark Stoops will be gone first.
Matt Jones
Well, I appreciate the call. He's not even here yet, so let's not have him transferring just yet. Guys. Thank you all very much. Have a good trip. See you October 1st. Enjoy the show. Come visit the bar. Let's get some WINS while I'm gone. Go Cats. See you after South Africa has been Kentucky Sports Radio.
