These scenarios are crazy.

What would you prefer?

[Ryan Lemond]

Hit it. Take five and seven, bring him back the next year end on a high note. Bringing him back.

Hit it. First of all, I'm never going to cheer for us not to beat Louisville on a field goal, never. But it would be ironic for sure. Shannon, what are you choosing?

[Shannon Dawson]

Oh, we want to hit the field goal and be. But you know, like the scenario came up years ago with that Mississippi State game. It did, but that was about, you.

[Matt Jones]

Know, way through the season though that wasn't the end.

[Shannon Dawson]

But still kind of talking about that could have saved his job, you know, on a field goal.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah, no, you're right. You. You to me, you got to hit the field goal. Here's a question, Matt. What would you say are the is the best and worst thing about the city of Lexington in the city of Louisville? I like that question.

[Ryan Lemond]

It's A good question for you.

[Matt Jones]

And we can't. Nobody can say the same thing. So let's start with Lexington. What's the best thing, Ryan, about Lexington? And it, like, it has to be something specific. It can't be like, oh, everybody likes each other. Like, it's got to be something specific.

[Ryan Lemond]

Damn it took my answer away.

[Matt Jones]

Like, it's got to be something. It's got to be something about Lexington. Best thing about Lexington.

[Ryan Lemond]

I think Lexington is very diverse, and I'm kind of proud of that. You know, our relations with all generations, nationalities. I'm very proud of my city that they're very diverse.

[Mario Urrutia]

I say best thing about Lexington is that the university centered around it. So Kentucky's Lexington is centered around Lexington. So, like, if you go to Louisville, it doesn't feel. You don't feel the University of Louisville when you go to Louisville. You know what I'm saying?

[Matt Jones]

No, I think that's probably right. I think that's probably right.

[Mario Urrutia]

It's more of a college town. Lexington is more of a college.

[Matt Jones]

I would say the best thing about Lexington, Lexington is its size because it's still small enough that you see people, you know, and you feel a bond, but it's big enough that it's not, like, suffocating and there are things to do. And it has, like an airport or community here. I like this size, which is probably, what, 400,000 people? Is that what we're at?

[Ryan Lemond]

Pretty close.

[Matt Jones]

I'd say this size, I think, is a really good size for a city. So that's what. What I would say. Shannon, what about you?

[Shannon Dawson]

I mean, you guys live there in Lexington, so you got better answers than I. I think Lexington is actually a beautiful city.

[Matt Jones]

I mean, it is pretty. Well, yeah, with the horse farms and all that.

[Shannon Dawson]

I would say just the, you know. Okay, the site.

[Matt Jones]

Now, what's the worst part about Lexington? I'm going first, so you can't say it.

[Ryan Lemond]

No, don't say it.

[Matt Jones]

I'm gonna say it. The traffic. This is the worst traffic for a city that is not huge of anywhere in the United States. There are places with worse traffic. D.C. has worse traffic. Chicago has worse traffic. New York at times has worse traffic. But there is no worse traffic for a city of this size anywhere in the United States, in my opinion, because it's just not designed to have as many people as we have here. So I'm going to say the worst traffic. What about you?

[Ryan Lemond]

Well, of course, that's what I was going to pick. I was going to pick traffic. So I'm going to say we all get asked this question, hey, I'm coming in from out of town, I've got an 8 year old, 11 year old. What are some things I can take my kids to do? There's really not a lot of options for kids around in Lexington. There's really not. What are you gonna do? Take them to a park, Take them bowling, Take them to Gatti Town?

[Matt Jones]

What would there be in other places? Like, where would you, like, what would you say go do in Knoxville?

[Ryan Lemond]

I don't know Knoxville, but any city. Knoxville has a zoo.

[Matt Jones]

Okay, so you want a zoo.

[Ryan Lemond]

I want a zoo. I guess I can send them to your neighborhood, go to Gatton park and walk around there.

[Matt Jones]

If you want a zoo. There's horse places.

[Ryan Lemond]

Yeah. For 8, 9, 10, 11 year old boys, there's just, well, you know, I always have struggle with what I tell them to do.

[Matt Jones]

Okay, what about you, Mario?

[Mario Urrutia]

Can I just say the traffic lights. No traffic.

[Matt Jones]

Traffic.

[Mario Urrutia]

The lights are just terrible.

[Matt Jones]

Traffic lights are not different than traffic. That doesn't count.

[Mario Urrutia]

If I had to pick one, I like Lexington a lot. I'll probably say I wish it was. I wish it was a little bit bigger.

[Matt Jones]

If I had to change, it was a little bit bigger.

A little bit bigger inside.

All right. Shannon, what about you?

[Shannon Dawson]

From what I could tell, it feels like Lexington has limited nightlife, like other than KS Bar and Grill.

[Matt Jones]

Like, you know, listen, you are exactly right.

[Shannon Dawson]

Yeah.

[Matt Jones]

Lexington has almost no nightlife if you're single and like over 24. You know what I mean?

[Ryan Lemond]

It's all college bars.

[Matt Jones]

These are. It's basically all bars are overtaken by college students. So you. No, that's. That to me, next to traffic, that is the worst thing about Lexington. All right. Best thing about Louisville. I'll go first.

[Ryan Lemond]

Food.

[Matt Jones]

For a city of its size, Louisville's got the best food choices. I. I struggle to outside of, you know, obviously the big cities have more choices, but if you're talking about a city the size of Louisville, I'd be interested. How many have better food choices than Louisville? Louisville's got everything, food wise, every kind of nationality. Food wise. Louisville not crushes it. What about you, Shane?

[Shannon Dawson]

For me, it's the concerts. Like having North America's biggest rock festival. Louder than Life and Bourbon and Beyond. A lot of great music venues. For me, it's. It's the music scene.

[Matt Jones]

Okay, what about you?

[Ryan Lemond]

I think the Elm center is one of the best state gymnasium, stadiums, whatever you want to call it in the country. I think it's awesome. I think they built it perfect.

[Matt Jones]

Great for basketball.

[Ryan Lemond]

Great size.

[Matt Jones]

Great size every.

No matter where you sit.

[Matt Jones]

Luxury areas, good views. I agree with that.

[Ryan Lemond]

I'm going. I'm going scenic route. So I like. I like the skyline of Louisville, like right by the Ohio river with the bridges. I think it's beautiful. I think that's.

[Matt Jones]

I agree with you. That is a really pretty right on the river with the bridges. Yeah. I would also note Louisville's got. If you like parks. There are very few cities with more parks and greenery in the center of them than Louis, than Louisville is. You know that Cherokee parks right in the middle of the. And it's beautiful and big.

[Ryan Lemond]

Is that the park by you? By the park.

[Matt Jones]

By me.

[Ryan Lemond]

Okay. Yeah.

[Matt Jones]

All right. What about worst for me?

[Ryan Lemond]

I got to think about this. The worst. Oh, I know one.

[Matt Jones]

Okay.

The Louisville Zoo stinks.

[Matt Jones]

You just said you wanted Lexington to have a zoo. Yes. And now you're crushing the Louisville Zoo.

[Ryan Lemond]

Yeah.

Why? Why are you doing that?

[Ryan Lemond]

The Cincinnati Zoo is awesome. The Louisville zoom.

[Matt Jones]

About you and zoo.

[Ryan Lemond]

I've been a lot.

You act like zoos are the most important thing in the world.

[Shannon Dawson]

You know, stinks. I mean, it's a bunch of animals pooping and peeing all over the place. What do you expect it to smell like?

[Ryan Lemond]

Yeah, it's poorly designed. It's just not put together very well.

[Matt Jones]

So you think this Louisville Zoo smells?

[Ryan Lemond]

The Louisville Zoo needs much improvement.

[Shannon Dawson]

I'll tell you what smells is downtown. It's dirty. It's dirty downtown. That's my worst.

[Matt Jones]

So that's your worst. Dirty downtown stinks when you drive by. Don't you think it's gotten better, though, in the last year or two?

[Shannon Dawson]

I think Craig Greenberg's done a good job trying to, but it's. It's an uphill battle.

[Matt Jones]

I mean, I will say right after Covid in like 2021 and 2022, I thought Louisville's downtown was like, really fall. Just awful and falling apart. And I think it's gotten much better in the last two years. And there are parts of it that are nice. I do agree. The combination of the river and just that there's a stench to downtown. You are. You are right about that. Although it's not as bad as it was. What about you, Mario?

[Mario Urrutia]

I'm probably gonna say. Well, every big city has this. I'll probably say danger.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah.

[Mario Urrutia]

It's really dangerous in parts of some parts of it. Some parts of it.

[Matt Jones]

Most of it is not. But there are parts of it that I think you would say.

[Mario Urrutia]

Yeah, gotta be careful.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah.

[Ryan Lemond]

About you.

[Matt Jones]

I mean, I really like Louisville. I think the problem, I would say is that Louisville is. Is very, very segregated. Not just it is segregated racially, but it's also segregated economically. Like, the people all live out in the, you know, every part of town is almost. Unfortunately, even though it's very diverse, the rich people live out in the, you know, Oldham county suburbs. You've got the 7th street divide between. That goes back, you know, a long time. I live in kind of the hippie area. Then you've got the sort of working class white area out Dixie and Pre. Then Preston. It's just, I feel like it's very segregated, which causes the city to fight. Like, Lexington does not fight amongst itself nearly as much as Louisville.

[Ryan Lemond]

Yeah.

[Matt Jones]

And I think a lot of that is people live in these segregated groups and it makes them distrust the other groups, which leads to a lot of fighting. Because, like, Louisville is a more liberal city than Lexington, but it is. They fight much more with each other. Right. Because the conservatives in Lex, in Louisville are very conservative and the liberals are very Louisville and they fight. Whereas in Lexington, I feel like everybody kind of gets along. Do you agree with that?

[Ryan Lemond]

I do agree. I think, Alexa, we all kind of get along. Both sides seem to coexist.

[Matt Jones]

I remember Adam Eagle and tell me many years ago when I was thinking about running, he was like, the thing you need to remember about Lexington and Louisville. The difference is he was like, Louisville people want to argue and Lexington people just want to live and be happy. And he meant that though, like, Louisville people are standing up for their causes.

[Ryan Lemond]

Yeah.

[Matt Jones]

Whereas Lexington people are just like, hey, things are pretty good. Can we all just like, they don't ruin it. That's kind of how they are, like. And I think that's true. I mean, you live in both cities. I think that's true. Louisville people are on Louisville politics and Louisville's. It's just on edge. Whereas in Lexington, you know, we're a pretty liberal city. We. I think Linda Gordon is a Republican, isn't she?

[Ryan Lemond]

I'm not sure. Actually.

[Matt Jones]

That's the thing. The fact that you don't know is what I'm saying. Like, nobody even really knows. I think that's actually a good thing.

[Ryan Lemond]

I think that what Adam Elin said about both cities are dead on accurate. We do, we're here in Lexington. We do just try to want to get by, be happy, don't want to ruffle any feathers, so to speak.

[Matt Jones]

I know it's an exhibition game, but I'm gonna put a lot of stock in it because Purdue and Houston are, everybody says, the best two teams in the country, and Purdue is the best team in the country. If we're able to play them down to the wire, even beat them or play them real close. I think I do put a lot of stock in there.

I think you play a lot of guys, but you're playing to win.

So he gets it and thinks, I can make the world better by getting rid of all the bad people. So, like, serial killers. Serial killers, et cetera. And they will have a heart attack if he writes the name in the notebook. So the first thing he does is they read about a serial killer on the loose that they can't find. He writes his name in the notebook, and then he's dead.

Not for basketball. You know, used to have fan day for football was a big free event, but nothing like this for basketball. And I now remember.
