Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.
Matt Jones
Welcome back. Hour number two Kentucky Sports Radio here at the KS Bar and Grill. Come on out and join us. And remember, tonight is Bingle Steelers. Who you got? Steelers. See, I think this would be interesting. Normally we get a big Bengals crowd. I I've heard a lot of Steelers fans coming. And what if the Steelers out? Bingo. The Bengals tonight. Plus they're calling at the Icy Hot Bowl. Two men over 40 years old, Joe Flacco and Aaron Rodgers. The Icy Hot bowl tonight.
Drew
Surprised they're not moving it up to 4pm so those guys get to bed on the Steelers thing. There is a big Steelers crowd in Lexington. They kind of bounce around but I've seen them out. If you think there's a Steelers wave coming, I know it exists.
Matt Jones
We have a server here who's a huge Steelers fan and she has claimed she's showing up in all Steelers gear tonight just to yell at people. I was like, well you can't yell at the customers. You can like you can yell if you want. It's your fellow work. But you can't be, like, taunting the people who come here.
Drew
Yeah, I know. I know it's a couple old guys, but it is a nasty old AFC north rivalry. I'm excited to watch it.
Matt Jones
All right, here we go. One person writes, Matt, here are the likability rankings on the show. Number one, Drew, or number two, number one, Ryan. Number two, Drew. Number three, Matt. Shannon. Four, Billy. Five.
Shannon
The pre show, huh?
Billy
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Yes. One person writes, Matt, how would you rank the likability of you all? Okay, so if you're just talking about what the gen. There's two different things. There's the people who listen to this show regularly, and then there's the general public. For the general public, it's probably the case more people just know me, so I would be first. But then there's a lot of people in the general public. You just hate me because they think, oh, he's a stupid liberal, or, you know, it's Louisville fans. So my. What they would call Q score would be probably higher likability, but also higher unlikability. But for people who listen to the show, if you were to really poll them and make them be honest, I think this would be the list. Mario would be number one, no doubt, because no one dislikes. Mario is the prop now he would get from regular listeners. He would be first. Drew would be second. Because no one I. There's almost nobody that dislikes Drew. Third is probably Ryan, but Ryan has his. There are women that have. Are like, Ryan's gotta stop sometimes.
Drew
Some neighborhood things.
Matt Jones
Women things.
Billy
Neighborhood things, yeah.
Matt Jones
There are some women that are like, Ryan's gonna have to stop. So with men, Ryan's probably third. If it's women, I'm probably third, then I'm probably fourth. And then I'd say Billy and Shannon is a battle. It's a. It's a fight. Shannon's probably fifth. Just because some people really liked how.
Drew
Sarcastic Shannon, he has much more exposure many more years. He's on here every morning.
Matt Jones
And. And there are people who would rank Shannon 1. Shannon has a contingent of people. They're out there. Oh, I've met him. Who are. STD is number one, definitely. But then there. I know a lot of women who are like, Shannon is sexist, so he gets the extremes. But there were. There would be Shannon ones, and Billy would probably be six. But I think Billy. Billy's score has raised a lot. Billy is now in the competition.
Shannon
That's right. You went from last to still last, but not as far in last.
Matt Jones
Yeah, you went from last to not quite as far last. I think that's probably fair.
Billy
Well, that's progress.
Shannon
Kentucky football basically in the sec.
Matt Jones
Until this year. Until this year. All right, let's do. Let's do some basketball here. I want to go through the non conference games. Okay. I'm gonna do this with the conference games next week, but go through the non conference games. I just want win or lose. And if you pick win, I want to know how many points.
Drew
Okay.
Matt Jones
All right. Okay. Win or lose, how many points? We start the season Nov. 4 against Nichols. What state is Nichols in? Louisiana.
Drew
I just know it's our first opponent in the bb.
Matt Jones
Look that up.
Drew
Tourism, I think.
Matt Jones
I think Nichols is in Louisiana. We open the season Tuesday, November 4th. That's election day, by the way. We open it against Nichols. Give me if you win or lose. And if it's a win, give me the score or how many points.
Drew
It's a win by 22.
Billy
Yeah, I'm going win by 25.
Matt Jones
I'm going win by 34.
Shannon
Shannon win by 40.
Matt Jones
Win by 40. Valpo Indian School in Indiana is second.
Drew
I'm gonna say they win by 34.
Billy
I'll say win a little less. I'm going 22.
Matt Jones
I'm gonna go win 24.
Shannon
Shannon win 26.
Matt Jones
All right, then we go at Louisville.
Drew
Drew, win by six.
Billy
I'm gonna go win by three.
Matt Jones
I'm gonna go win by seven.
Shannon
Shannon win by one.
Matt Jones
Win by one. All right, so we're all got it. Three zero, Eastern Illinois.
Drew
They'll win by 42.
Billy
Yeah, that's a win by 30.
Matt Jones
Win by 28.
Shannon
Win by 35.
Matt Jones
Michigan State in the Champions Classic.
Drew
Man, we got stomped in New York last year. We're not proposing in Central park before this year.
Billy
Right.
Drew
I'll go win by four.
Billy
A lot of engagements during that time. I'm going win by seven on this one.
Matt Jones
Surprising loss by four. I could see it. It's the. It's kind of our payback for having beaten Duke last year as we take a surprising loss this year by four. So that's our first loss.
Shannon
Win by five.
Matt Jones
Win by five. All right.
Drew
Loyola home, smoking them by 30.
Billy
Yeah, win by 18.
Matt Jones
Here, win by 16. We're a little frustrated. Why are we not blowing these teams out?
Shannon
Shannon went about 18.
Matt Jones
Tennessee Tech.
Drew
We're going to be motivated after taking the football loss. So we're going to win by 110 because it's like a week later.
Matt Jones
You think we're taking the football lost.
Drew
We walk in there fired up for the fighting, whatever they are as ostriches, eagles.
Billy
I think the basketball team plays us as close as the football team. So give me 14. Win for Kentucky.
Matt Jones
I think we love John Pelfrey, but we pound them.
Shannon
Win by 41, win by 20.
Matt Jones
All right. Carolina at home.
Drew
Keep giving us wins. I don't think we're going undefeated, but I'm going a win here also. I'll say they win this one by two.
Shannon
Yeah.
Billy
I'm saying win by six.
Matt Jones
Rupp is going to be rocking 9:30 at night. Everybody's going to be giddy and probably a little drunk. I'm going to say win by seven.
Shannon
Shannon, when that three.
Matt Jones
All right. Gonzaga in Nashville. Speaking of drunk.
Drew
Oh, I'm raising both hands right here. We gotta win that one.
Matt Jones
But that we beat them last year. That dude's back.
Drew
He kills us every year. Kentucky wins on a buzzer beater away. His second buzzer beater in Bridgestone Arena.
Matt Jones
Oh, I like it.
Billy
I will go loss by five in this one.
Matt Jones
Lost to Gonzaga. Win by two for me, Shannon.
Shannon
Yeah, Gonzaga owes us one. I'm gonna say Kentucky loses by four.
Matt Jones
So right now, Shannon, Billy and I have one loss. Drew has no losses. As we get into December 9th in North Carolina Central, it's another big win.
Drew
24.
Billy
Yeah, win by 30 here, too.
Matt Jones
Win by 53.
Shannon
53, one by 24.
Matt Jones
I spoke at North Carolina Central one time about the death penalty. I've told this story before, but I said, I'm against the death penalty in all situations. Guy raises his hand and goes, what about for Osama bin Laden? And I was like, well, if he was tried in American court, I'd still be against the death penalty. He goes, all right. Then somebody else raised their hand. What about somebody were to kill your parents? I was like, okay, that's awful. But I would still be against the death penalty. And then somebody just stands up next and goes, what if they were to kill him and just pointed to the other guy on stage. I was like, I need to say again, my answer is not going to change. But they were just trying to come up with the craziest scenario they could. So that's why we're going to beat about 53 Indiana at home. Who you got? What you got?
Drew
Oh, beat Indiana by 13.
Billy
Yeah. Beating Indiana by 33.
Matt Jones
I'm going to say five.
Shannon
Yeah. I think it's going to be a close game. I think Kentucky by six.
Matt Jones
St. John's Rick gets him.
Drew
I Think Pope is overwhelmed by Rick being across the. The way.
Matt Jones
Okay, and so you're gonna say St. John's about two.
Billy
Okay, yeah, I'm taking St. John's as well by three.
Drew
My logic on that is I just. I can't pick us to win every game. So I had to pick somewhere.
Matt Jones
The student becomes the teacher.
Drew
Okay, this is the Grasshopper moment.
Matt Jones
And. And Kentucky wins by six.
Shannon
Shannon, St. John's by five.
Matt Jones
Okay, and then Bellarmine, I gotta pick.
Shannon
This one to be somewhat close. Kentucky by seven.
Matt Jones
Kentucky by 32, 33, Kentucky by 10. All right, so we have Drew and I only have one non conference loss. Billy and Shannon have two.
Shannon
So see, that's why we're not like Billy.
Matt Jones
But what's interesting about this is we, we have a lot of tough conf. Non conference games, but they're all games that like, if you think we're going to beat Louisville, then North Carolina and Gonzaga and Indiana are essentially home games. Right. Michigan State is a neutral. I have them losing that one. Like we've lost. We lost Ohio State, I think last year in a game like that. But they do have a chance, Drew, to have a really good non conference while they're still playing these good teams. When we play Gonzaga, North Carolina, Indiana, we're gonna have home games and then St. John's I would say in Atlanta, we have more fans there than St. John's probably does, right? Oh, yeah.
Drew
I was at that game in Atlanta three years ago when they beat Carolina and there, I mean, Carolina got into. But there were Kentucky fans everywhere in that city before, during and after.
Matt Jones
So I mean, the heart. Would you. I think the hardest game we have in the non conference is at Louisville.
Billy
Yeah, that's a tough one.
Drew
Point guard, you.
Billy
Apparently they're fired up for that.
Matt Jones
I mean, to me, that is most likely the hardest game.
Drew
When Ken Palm put out his rankings, he puts out like a forecast. He didn't have Kentucky losing to the middle of January.
Matt Jones
I mean, I could see it. All right, who's up next? Shannon?
Shannon
Let's go to David.
Matt Jones
David, go ahead, David.
Caller
Hey, man, how we doing today?
Matt Jones
Doing good.
Caller
Called in yesterday, but we ended up running out of time. So I didn't get to talk to. You live in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, but I was visiting my mom in Jefferson Town, which is just outside of that bad name city in Jefferson County. So anyway, I was heading home yesterday, but I had to make a stop at Kentucky Branded and shout out to Emily out at Shelbyville Road Plaza. I ended up spending about 200 bucks. So kudos to that.
Matt Jones
Well, good.
Caller
Other thing is. Sorry.
Matt Jones
No, go ahead.
Caller
So on my way home, I ended up driving by your favorite little town at Indiana on Interstate 64. Poseyville.
Matt Jones
Yes, I, that, that I have. I have used the restroom there in Posyville and got caught by a police officer. That's exactly, exactly right. Good memory. That's. That was a decade ago. Did you know that?
Billy
I don't know that story.
Matt Jones
Yeah. I appreciate the call, sir. I one time was in Poseyville, Indiana, and it was late at night and I couldn't find a restroom and I just pulled off next in a, like in a field next to a gas station and just tried to use the restroom and a police officer came up and I thought I was going to get. I think they thought I was a vagrant and I thought I was going to get arrested in Poseyville and I didn't even get a ticket. He let me go with a don't just use Posyville as your toilet warning. Wow.
Drew
It's an emergency.
Matt Jones
How do you. I'm impressed that guy remembers that. That was a long time ago. That was. That was like over a decade.
Billy
Well, you've taught me to use hotel rooms on a long road trip.
Matt Jones
Yeah, but this, everything was that part of Indiana, that drive between. I can't remember what to take. I don't know if it's like Evansville and then St. Louis or if it's Kentucky to Evans. It. Like there's nothing on it, so there's nowhere to stop.
Billy
So you saw a field and. Yeah, your business.
Matt Jones
That's right. Who's next?
Shannon
Let's go to Ryan.
Matt Jones
Ryan, go ahead. Ryan.
Caller
Hey, Matt.
Matt Jones
Yes.
Caller
Sorry, sorry. You hooked up to my truck. My apology.
Matt Jones
Do anything. Don't say I hooked up to your truck. You hooked up to your truck. But go.
Caller
My phone hooked up to my truck. We'll agree that a mistake was made and shame on the mistake for making itself. Anyway, as far as, as far as the football goes, we have got to come to some kind of consensus on what is acceptable and what is not. And the question has to be if seven wins is acceptable and five is not, are we going to pay $40 million to win two more games?
Matt Jones
Yes, in my opinion. I appreciate the call. Seven is acceptable. Five is. Five is acceptable. To me, if you didn't win three last year or four last year and if you were competitive and if you didn't play silly and if it felt like there was a positive future. But I don't feel any of those things?
Drew
No. And even God, if he did get to seven, heck yeah. That would be pretty impressive. You'd think Holly of Bowley moving forward, you'd be thinking next year would look good. But I just, is there anyone in the fan base that has that optimism?
Matt Jones
No. I mean, Kentucky. My, my personal Kentucky football expectations are not super high, but they're higher than what it is now. That's, that's the way I look at it.
Billy
Yeah. Well, what matters is Mitch Barnhart's expectations and where he feels they're at now.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Big news from Corbett Hemp. Two new flavors of seltzer, Shannon Raspberry Limeade and Blueberry Breeze.
Billy
Let's go.

Matt Jones

Welcome back. It is Kentucky sports radio here at ks. Got a group here, just saw from Louisville. Got folks from all over the state. Billy, you're up to 59% likable. That's a huge number for Twitter, which is like a pool of negativity to get a 59% likable. That's really good.
Billy
Well, I texted the family group chat as well.
Matt Jones
Got big family.
Drew
I do.
Billy
I got some cousins that are helping out that number.
Drew
Start calling you Dolly Rutledge with this popularity.
Matt Jones
But that, that's, that's really good. But now you're worried about the negative comments. Why would you do that? You know, don'. Read the comments.
Billy
Yeah, I, you're probably better than that.
Matt Jones
Than I am.
Billy
I am deep in the comments right now.
Drew
So just remember, those people don't matter. They're not your life.
Matt Jones
One person writes, Matt, I started to find Billy much more likable since COVID Zero and interrupted. You should, you all should do more of those shows. I think you are more likable since then. And I, I, I'm really enjoying doing Cover Zero. I have to tell you, like, when the NFL asked us, I was going to do it because it was the NFL, but I was kind of like, oh, do I want to talk more about the NFL? But doing it with Drew and then having you and Mario there, like, I've actually really enjoyed it a lot.
Billy
Yeah, it's a lot of fun I've had.
Matt Jones
And we get to go to the Super Bowl.
Billy
Is that confirmed?
Matt Jones
I mean, I'm going to say it is.
Jonathan Kitchen (Big Hair)
Yeah.
Drew
If we just keep saying it, then they can't let us know.
Matt Jones
Keep saying we're. That we might go to the Super Bowl. We're just going to be like, take the might out.
Drew
They would have might at us. If it's not happening, it's at least possible.
Matt Jones
I mean, think about, think about the four of us rolling up to the super bowl in San Francisco.
Billy
Heck, yeah, San Francisco.
Drew
And even if we're not official, I have a better chance of getting there than Cam Ward. So we're ahead of the Titans and getting to the super bowl this year.
Billy
His misery.
Matt Jones
But they, but they're saying we might get to be on radio Row for the Super Bowl. That would be awesome. Do you know where the super bowl is?
Billy
Yeah, San Francisco.
Matt Jones
It's in San Francisco. That's right.
Billy
Do we get tickets too? Or is it just ra?
Matt Jones
I mean, Billy, slow down.
Drew
Haven't even.
Matt Jones
They haven't even told us we can go.
Shannon
You're already demanding take the bus out there.
Drew
You know, the big media day where everybody's there just asking all the questions. That'll be us.
Matt Jones
That could be us. We can go up to him and go, hey, man, what's up?
Billy
Yeah, like, what's up?
Drew
Daniel Jones and the Colts. It's good to see you here.
Billy
Like, we interviewed Brown Spider. We'll do it with actual players then.
Matt Jones
But I mean, that's a cool potential thing.
Billy
Yeah, for sure.
Matt Jones
So we'll see. You know, it's crazy. You can hear. You hear ads, promos for our podcast. Like somebody was telling me they were listening to the Kelsey brothers. Our promo ran. That's kind of nuts.
Billy
Unbelievable to think about.
Matt Jones
It really is insane. Especially when you see the level of production where we try to do it.
Billy
Oh, we had to stop yesterday because of storage space.
Drew
Every time I get the.
Matt Jones
Oh, yeah, this is I heart in a nutshell. Just for the record, we're doing the podcast yesterday. Halfway through, it just cuts off because the computer we're on has no more storage space. Shannon. Oh, that doesn't hear that happen anywhere else.
Shannon
No, just here. It's happened to my computer in the studio that I'm in right now.
Billy
I believe it.
Drew
A one hour episode.
Shannon
Sorry. That's it. Your show's over.
Matt Jones
One person writes. Matt, bottom line, do you think Mitch Barnhart would have the guts to fire Mark Stoops? It's a great question. Does he have the guts? Because it will take guts because it's a huge amount of money and it will make things difficult for UK Athletics because it's a huge amount of money and you know, it'll put a lot of pressure on whoever's next hire is. Do you think he could do that?
Drew
No, I think if it's three and nine, though, there's. There's just not an option. It won't take guts. You just have to do it.
Matt Jones
You have to. Because I think we're finishing 4 and 8 for the record, I think we're finished. I think we're gonna win one of these games randomly. We're gonna beat somebody. We shouldn't. But I don't think we're gonna do it twice. So I think we're gonna finish four night. What if he does that?
Drew
I think it's still gotta. I mean, if your fourth is beaten Tennessee and the year ends and that's their only hiccup, the Rest of the way, maybe you're like, well, he did that. But even then, I mean, it's one win.
Matt Jones
Does he have the guts to do it at 4?
Drew
I think 95% of people would have the guts. I don't know that Mitch does.
Billy
That's a great question. Because he got, you know, saved by the chicken man with Cal that he was going to have to make a tough decision there.
Drew
Yeah, that seemed pretty obvious two years ago.
Matt Jones
He didn't. He made the decision.
Drew
It was.
Matt Jones
Oh, yeah. His decision was to keep him. Remember? I mean, it kind of gets lost to history. But Mitch decided to bring Cal back, and then Cal ended up leaving. But, like, he made. The people wanted him to do that, and he brought him back. And it would have been miserable.
Drew
And it's not just brought him back. They did that tv. We love each other.
Public Rec Announcer
Y' all crazy.
Drew
Stop listening to the guy. Look at us.
Matt Jones
That TV interview was an embarrassment.
Drew
It really was.
Matt Jones
It was an embarrassment. Especially with the fact that Cal left two or three days later.
Drew
Cal had a leg out the door in the interview.
Matt Jones
That was an embarrassment. I mean, they tried to act like they liked each other. It's like, I know you all hate each other. Just, you know, it is what it is. They always would use that line. Well, we don't send each other Christmas cards. Yeah, fair enough.
Billy
Well, then the dog in the stroller the day after the dog.
Matt Jones
That whole thing was crazy. Who's up next?
Shannon
Bob in Jamestown.
Matt Jones
Bob in Jamestown. 859-280-2287. What do you got?
Caller
Think when you're having this little poll. Billy's right up there. He's personable, he's got the technical ability. I think he has a great future in broadcasting.
Matt Jones
There you go.
Caller
So you have great radio voice.
Billy
Thank you.
Matt Jones
Of approval. That's. That's what you need right there. But go ahead, Bob.
Caller
Like I say, he's engaging personality, he's not rude to the listeners. And like I said, I think he's got a great future.
Billy
He didn't say any names.
Matt Jones
I think those are shots at me, but go ahead, Bob.
Caller
Well, that's. That's all I got, Matt.
Matt Jones
Appreciate the call. Look at that.
Billy
It's call today.
Matt Jones
We have found shit. And we found Billy's audience.
Shannon
That's right. You two should go hang out on that lake for a weekend.
Billy
I think I may go see his porch.
Matt Jones
Do you know what's on his porch?
Billy
I do.
Matt Jones
Let me just. Out of cure. Do you all know what's on? Bob and Jamestown Sports you do? How do you know? Don't say it. But how do you know? Oh, did we. Okay. I always forget what we say and what we don't, but yeah, but it's weird.
Billy
Does Mario know?
Matt Jones
Mario, do you know what? I'm Bob and Jamestown's porch. Oh, yeah. Don't corrupt your mind. You're really innocent.
Drew
You'll be old enough one day when.
Matt Jones
When you get to be 30. We'll tell you what it. We'll tell you what it is. What it is.
Drew
Then I forgot because I haven't seen.
Matt Jones
Did you all.
Drew
You didn't go, did you? Or was it.
Matt Jones
No, but I've, I've seen pictures.
Drew
Okay.
Matt Jones
I've had boats. There are boats that have gone by and taken pictures of it. So I have multiple copies of that atrocity. 859-280-2287. We'll take a break. Be right back. KSR, TJ Smith, personal injury attorney. Call TJ. He'll make him pay.
Shannon
Now more of Kentucky sports radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Matt Jones
Welcome back. Tech Sports Radio. 859-280-2287. Text machine. 772-774-5254. One person writes. Matt, I would do a side to the likability. Likability at remotes. I've been to a lot of remotes. Here are the rankings. Number one, Ryan. Completely true at remotes. Ryan is runaway number one. Number two, Billy. Agreed. When the show's going on, Billy goes around into when it talks to people. I'm. I'm good with that. Three, Mario. Totally agree. Four, Drew. Five, Matt. Six. Shit.
Shannon
Right. As I stay around at the very end to talk to literally everybody there at the very end. That's fine. Well, since I, since I'm at the bottom, I'll just stop talking to anybody. Don't come up to me at a remote tomorrow.
Matt Jones
That's the kind of attitude keep you at number six. We are at 46 Solutions tomorrow on Nicholasville road. Come on out. We'd love to see you there. It's always a good show right there in Lexington green. So come out. They'll have food there I think as well at 46 Solutions tomorrow. Joining us on the phone, my guy, Jonathan Kitchen. He's ut, big hair. He has given me four tickets to give away to the UK Texas game, lower level, which I'm going to give away tomorrow at the remote. Big hair, first of all, thank you. You're a Texas fan. Why are you not coming to the game?
Jonathan Kitchen (Big Hair)
Yeah, it's just The Breeders cup around the corner. I couldn't squeeze in a trip to Lexington. I was in Italy for like two weeks. I needed to be on, on the couch this weekend. I wasn't going to be able to make it down.
Matt Jones
Well, that's very nice of you to give the tickets to our listeners. So quickly tell us, do you think Texas wins the game? Do your Longhorns beat what is a powerful UK football team?
Jonathan Kitchen (Big Hair)
I, I, I, I do believe that we do. I, look, I gotta be honest. I've been very, and not like, unreasonably frustrated with, with Arch's progress. But, you know, I think showing up last week in that big game against Oklahoma, he actually played well. I've been very disappointed with how he played basically every other game, you know, early in the season, and he didn't really have that I'm a freshman excuse. I know he's a new starter, but he's been around for a while, so I've been a little bit frustrated. It felt like we had a much better shot this year than it felt like we did the first part of the year, but he's turned around, man. I, I thought he played really well last time. And unfortunately, the, the Wildcats quarterback situation isn't one that really necessarily makes you too nervous.
Matt Jones
Oh, you need to be nervous. You need to be nervous. It's, it's cutter time. Cutter. Cutter. Peanut butter. And it starts on Saturday. We'll, we'll see.
Jonathan Kitchen (Big Hair)
I mean, that's one thing that we do have, and we've been pretty consistently good. So even if Arch doesn't play, like, I hope that he's turned the corner and is, is going to play the rest of the year, I still think that defensively, we, we caused some problems for Kentucky.
Matt Jones
All right, so let's do this. You're always. It's Caelan. A lot of people are going to Keeneland this weekend, whether it be Friday or Saturday. Give me one pick for Keeneland this weekend. That is the ut. Big hit, big hair, KSR Keeneland lock of the week. Yeah.
Jonathan Kitchen (Big Hair)
Okay. The lock of the week is Saturday in race six, the Perryville. The number five.
Matt Jones
Hang on a second. Saturday race sixth, it's called the Perryville. That's a town in Boyle County. Right. That's where we used to dig for fossils when I was in Governor Scholar. All right, the Perryville. What's the horse number five?
Jonathan Kitchen (Big Hair)
Captain Cook. It's a, it's a horse.
Matt Jones
That Cook.
Jonathan Kitchen (Big Hair)
Yep. He was on the Kentucky Derby trail trying to go long those longer distances. He switched Trainers to, to Todd Pletcher, a hall of famer. He's cutting back at distance and his last race at Saratoga was outstanding. I think he's the best one turn three year old horse in the country and I think he'll prove that on Saturday as well.
Matt Jones
Lock of the week, Captain Cook. Shannon. We put money on it.
Shannon
No.
Matt Jones
Why not?
Shannon
Not me.
Drew
I'm in.
Matt Jones
You don't believe in Big Hair?
Shannon
I did until Kentucky Joe out picked him one time.
Matt Jones
But that's okay. But, but Captica, you're in with me.
Drew
Oh, absolutely.
Matt Jones
All right, so now give me a long shot, one that I could get some price on that you feel is kind of sporty.
Jonathan Kitchen (Big Hair)
Yeah. Well, Race nine on Saturday. There's a couple of Bob Baffert runners in there. They'll take money, I think. Quiet side and the Raven run on Saturday. Race nine, number 11, she hasn't run since the Kentucky Oaks. Very similar to what we saw with Captain Cook. A horse that was going probably a little bit longer than they want to go. Trying to catch those big races. Now goes back to one turn, which I think she's going to appreciate. She's four to one morning line, but you can spend that money too.
Matt Jones
All right, so race six, we go to the Perryville. Captain Cook, race nine, Quiet side, horse 11 is his longer shot. Although four to one ain't the longest shot in the world there, Big Hair. But that's all right. I'll still, I'll, I'll still let you.
Caller
It's not the longest.
Matt Jones
I'll still let you do it. Where do people get your picks?
Jonathan Kitchen (Big Hair)
We have a podcast you can check out in the money podcast.com or on YouTube. Wherever else you get podcasts, that's the best place to see what we're doing. Then you can catch me on America's Day at the Races on Fox Sports on the weekend.
Matt Jones
I follow Big Hair for a long time. Generally speaking, in my opinion, he does his best work at Saratoga and Keeneland probably because that's where he always gets, you know, he's like whining and dying and he's like that. That's where he, he gets all his rich people information. Jonathan, thank you very much, sir.
Jonathan Kitchen (Big Hair)
Take care. Good to see you guys.
Matt Jones
Good to talk to you as well. And thank you for the tickets. We'll give those away tomorrow.
Drew
Very nice to move with the tickets and the pick. Yes, tickets especially.
Matt Jones
That's exactly right. 859-280-22871, person writes, Matt, tell me the Kentucky player players on the Team that could go for 30 points in a game this year. Do we have anybody scores 30 points in a game? Jalen Lowe scores 30 in a game.
Drew
Low and away would be the top two picks.
Matt Jones
I think they're probably the only two.
Drew
Yeah, Hope just doesn't play guys more than 30 minutes. So you know, you'd have to really get hot to get to 30.
Matt Jones
I think low is the most.
Drew
Yeah, Low.
Matt Jones
Low's the most likely. Away will be one of those. He'll consistently get 15 a game, but I don't know that he'll ever get 30 in a game. Jaylen Low will have. Now Jaylen Low will have a game where he goes 2 for 13 and drives us crazy, but he will also have a game where he goes for 30.
Billy
Yeah, we saw Lamont Butler do something similar last year. I think Jaylen Low can fill that role nicely.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I Jaylen Low, there gonna be a couple games. There's gonna be at least one game in the non conference where we play one of those bad teams where Jaylen Lowe is going to just make everybody go, whoa, who's this kid? Do you agree with that?
Shannon
Yeah.
Drew
And you know, we've, we've talked a lot about how he doesn't. Didn't have pieces around him. He's going to take such a jump forward because he's also a great distributor. I mean get in the lane and finish. But he's a great passer. But last year didn't have anyone to pass to that could do anything with it.
Matt Jones
I, I think people have underrated his passing because of what you said. He just didn't have guys who could finish. But when you watch in practice, he sees things driving to the basket. He. I hope I'm not wrong because I've got all my stock in him, but I think he's going to be great. There was a Louisville fan, Rashawn Myers, who I who used to do radio with me. I like Rashawn, but he wrote yesterday, everybody's overrating Kentucky. They have no stars on their team. And I don't know how you define a star, but if away and low are not stars, then I don't know how many stars there are in college basketball. Like if they're not stars, then who's a star?
Drew
I don't know, Rashawn. So I'll call that the dumbest thing on the Internet. Always the SEC preseason player of the year. I don't know what more you want him to do going in the year.
Matt Jones
And his insinuation is Louisville has stars. Well, who are their stars? I mean, if away and Low are not stars, who's Louisville's Jaden Quaintance is.
Drew
A top five pick in the mock drafts right now. What are we talking about? What's the scout? Rashawn, it honestly was the dumbest thing I've ever seen. I say that respectfully. Rashad, I don't know you the SEC preseason player of the year isn't a star. I don't know how you even come to that conclusion.
Matt Jones
I agree with you. I I mean, I know what he's saying. Like to me, OA doesn't come off as like crazy college star that you can't stop. But with that said, if he's not a star, who is?
Drew
He had one game without double figures last year. I know.
Billy
He's so like, what more was it one game?
Drew
There's one, maybe two.
Matt Jones

Billy
Yeah, I'm going to try to go. Speedy asked me to come.
Matt Jones
Speedy asked you to come?
Billy
Yeah. And after I asked him what his goal celebration was and he said he hadn't scored in three years, I feel like I got to go.
Matt Jones
Let me ask you a question, Shannon. I just saw this on the news today. So the governor of Illinois, his name is JB Pritzer, he's very rich. He. He's was a business guy. He was declaring his income for 2024. You have to do that in Illinois and tell everybody what it is. It was like 17, 18 million dollars, but included in that was 1.5 million dollars of gambling winnings. So he declared 1.5 million gambling winnings. That's a lot of money to be up in gambling. How do you and how do you think it is? He has a press conference today where I guess they're going to ask him about it. What do you think it is? You think it's sports? You think it's roulette, you think it's blackjack? What do you think 1.5 million gambling is?
Shannon
I would guess sports. And I would say somebody with that kind of money is betting massive numbers, like big numbers. So maybe he didn't hit a whole lot of picks, but maybe he bets. Yeah, an enormous amount of wagers on one or two games and hit them. And that's how you could probably do.
Matt Jones
You, like, Drew, your governor to have 1.5 million in gambling winnings or 1.5 million in gambling losing.
Drew
You nailed it. I want him to be winning. I don't want a guy that's out an alley throwing dice, trying to get back to even because he's down so bad.
Matt Jones
It's an interesting question. Who would you rather have? Would you rather have. Would you ever have a political official winning gambling? Or you'd be like. He's like. Because, I mean, I guess you would say if he's going to use our state's money, I'd rather him win than.
Drew
He'S got to pay taxes on his winning. So he's putting some back in.
Shannon
What do you think Andy Beshear's numbers look like?
Matt Jones
I'm going to guess Andy Beshear. If you were to say, I think he probably goes to the horse track, bets a few hundred dollars and loses every single time because he'll be like one of those things where you'd only bet on like a horse from for sales or something.
Drew
I'm gonna say Andy won a cake at the Christ the King picnic in a sack race and that's the most he's ever gambled. He won musical chairs at a church picnic and declared the chocolate cake.
Matt Jones
He won't declare the chair.
Billy
You gotta declare it.
Drew
On the Illinois governor. I can't believe sports. And if it is sports, I want an investigation.
Billy
Well, if it is, then he's gonna say you bet on all the Chicago teams.
Matt Jones
See, that's, that's what I thought was most likely. He put some sort of symbolic bet on a team from Illin and who.
Drew
Would have paid out that they don't have to bet against them.
Matt Jones
Let's do our draft kings pick. We are not going to win 1.5 million unless we win tonight, right? Bet 5, get 200 in bonus bets. If you win, we go to DraftKings. DraftKings.com promo code KSR. I've got the shirt. Steelers and Bengals, icy hot bowl. Joe Flacco versus Aaron Rodgers. Two old 40 year olds try to make it happen. The Steelers are a 4 1/2 point favorite in Cincinnati. Who you got?
Drew
Steelers win, but can I take the over? I think Flacco and Chase are going to score some points. They won't win the game, but the Bengals defense sucks. So I think Rogers and Flacco are actually going to light it up a little bit tonight.
Matt Jones
Taking the over is 44 and a half.
Drew
Yeah, usually Thursdays are under, but I think Flacco might have a little something with Jamar Chase tonight even though they don't win.
Billy
Billy, I love the Flacco story. Just comes in, slings it without knowing the playbook. But I'm going with your guy. Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers tonight, but.
Matt Jones
They would make the Steelers 5 and 1 if they win. Shannon, what do you got?
Shannon
Give me Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers to cover the four and a half.
Matt Jones
Flacco is not going to be wacko at home. This is old man Flacco with his five o' clock shadow and his multiple gray patches of beard comes out and.
Drew
What's wrong with that?
Matt Jones
Nothing wrong with that. And he comes out and he, like, he, He. He, you know, puts on the icy Hot. He puts his depends on and he comes out there. I don't know why he needs depends.
Drew
Well, might have to go.
Matt Jones
But he's a long game. He puts on his depends and he. He covers the four and a half. I don't know if they win, but, Billy, they cover the four.
Billy
Okay. I like it. I know his kids won't be rooting for him, but you will.
Matt Jones
Why won't his kids be Joe. Joe Flaccos? Kids don't like him.
Drew
They always wear the jersey of other players.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Drew
So they'll probably have on an Aaron Rodgers jersey tonight.
Matt Jones
Oh, that's right. You mentioned that on cover zero.
Drew
Allegedly, they're wearing Lions jerseys.
Matt Jones
Yeah. So, yes, you can watch that game here tonight. Just be. Don't be upset if one of our servers is talking trash. If you're a Bengals fan, who's next?
Shannon
Austin.
Matt Jones
Austin. Go ahead, Austin.
Caller
Hey, guys. First time calling into the normal show. I usually just.
Matt Jones
Well, thank you.
Caller
Couple. Couple things here. Oh, that Big Blue Madness, man, what an amazing time that was.
Matt Jones
I totally agree with you. It was. It was awesome.
Caller
Second thing, I say it every time I call in. I'd love to see y' all at a remote and potmill.
Matt Jones
Well, we will do one, I promise you at some point. I appreciate the call. Thank you very much. I got a question for you, sir. Your wife and kids have slowly moved to a table elsewhere. The food is there, but you're still listening. I appreciate that. It also, though, makes me think your wife doesn't want to hear my voice. She moved to the other side of the restaurant, as far away as possible. If you want, I'll go give her, like a private show.
Drew
Go give a TED Talk.
Matt Jones
Yeah, that's right. But slowly, one by one, they all just move to the. But the food's there. That. That makes more sense. That makes more sense. Who's next?
Shannon
Martin.
Matt Jones
Martin. Go ahead, Martin.
Caller
Hey, I saw this account on Twitter where it switched Drew's name, first letter of his name, to make a few Drinklin. And I thought if it did that.
Matt Jones
To Billy, it would be really Butler.
Caller
So if it ever messes up, we can just be like, really?
Matt Jones
Butler?
Caller
Thank God.
Matt Jones
It's great. It's actually very funny. I'm not gonna say it is very funny. Really Butler?
Billy
Yeah, I'll give him that one. Touche.
Matt Jones
Why you should. You shouldn't, like, you shouldn't let these people get to you, because at its core, they only give you a hard time because they, like, used to.
Billy
I'm pretty good at it now.
Matt Jones
You did use. He did used to bother you, didn't for sure.
Billy
Yeah, absolutely.
Matt Jones
But you remember, you came in so hot.
Billy
It was. It was a hot start. There's no doubt.
Matt Jones
But it also, I think, worked for you because I remembered you because you came in so hot.
Billy
The Jennifer Lawrence thing.
Matt Jones
Yeah. You said Jennifer Lawrence would date you no matter what. You had your hair slicked back. You had those big glasses.
Drew
You said you were taking Shannon wearing, like.
Matt Jones
You were wearing, like, Jeffrey Dahmer glasses at the time.
Billy
You're not wrong. Shannon was actually a big help in this because he would show me some of the fan mail he got, and it would just be letters.
Matt Jones
I mean, Shannon was the same way. Shannon, when you started, you got a ton of hate, dude.
Billy
Yeah. Yeah, it does.
Shannon
That's right. I still do. Absolutely. And I don't care, though, so.
Matt Jones
Yeah, But Shannon was. You and Shannon have that in common. From moment one, you came in really hot, but I also think I appreciated that. I like the fact that you. We had. We now have six people on this show with six very distinctive personalities, and I really. I really enjoy that.
Billy
Well, thank you for letting me be a part of the team. It's been a fun eight years.
Matt Jones
You have. You have. You have earned it. By the way, before we go, did you see what Todd golden said about Denzel Aberdeen? Todd golden was asked about Denzel Aberdeen leaving Florida for Kentucky, and he said he had some priorities beyond winning a champ. Second championship here seemed like a shot to me at Denzel Aberdeen, which is a weird thing for a former coach to do. Didn't you think?
Drew
It's the second, maybe third time this offseason. He hasn't been very shy and saying, you know, he didn't say it was the money, but he said there was an offer that he couldn't turn down beyond bag. He walked right into saying it was the money.
Matt Jones
I don't understand why Todd golden feels the need to do this. I mean, you just won a national championship, and you want a national championship when a lot of people might have lost their job, and you want a national Championship and you are on top of the world and you've got a team that could win it again this year. They've got a great team. Why take. You're right, Drew, multiple kind of passive aggressive shots at your former player. Why do that?
Drew
Because he's broken. Couldn't afford him, I guess, but I wanted him. But he seems bitter.
Matt Jones
It's not like they're not good. They're good.
Drew
They are good.
Matt Jones
So why would you. Why do that?
Drew
Well, they had all three of their guards leave and just guessing, golden probably in his mind was just counting on Aberdeen stepping forward in one of those spots. And then when Aberdeen had a big.
Matt Jones
Offer but he went and got Boogie Fland from Arkansas.
Drew
Yeah, Yeah.
Billy
I think it's just jarring when we don't hear coach speak, you know, and this was just. He probably just got a little personal about it.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Because he sounds very bitter, by the way. Did you see. I mean, I know it's an exhibition game, but the first game of the Stephen Pearl era did not start out great. They lost at home to an Oklahoma State team. That's supposed to be bad this year. Oklahoma State team had three starters out. Three of their five starters were out. Went to Auburn and beat them on their court. And then, I know it's an exhibition game, but still.
Drew
And he wakes up and his dad took a job somewhere else to get away from it.
Matt Jones
Yeah. I mean, Stephen Pearl, it's not going. Maybe not going to work. It may not. Well, 46 solutions tomorrow. Thank you all very much. This has been Kentucky sports radio.
