Surprised they're not moving it up to 4pm so those guys get to bed on the Steelers thing. There is a big Steelers crowd in Lexington. They kind of bounce around but I've seen them out. If you think there's a Steelers wave coming, I know it exists.

We have a server here who's a huge Steelers fan and she has claimed she's showing up in all Steelers gear tonight just to yell at people. I was like, well you can't yell at the customers. You can like you can yell if you want. It's your fellow work. But you can't be, like, taunting the people who come here.

Yeah, I know. I know it's a couple old guys, but it is a nasty old AFC north rivalry. I'm excited to watch it.

Yes. One person writes, Matt, how would you rank the likability of you all? Okay, so if you're just talking about what the gen. There's two different things. There's the people who listen to this show regularly, and then there's the general public. For the general public, it's probably the case more people just know me, so I would be first. But then there's a lot of people in the general public. You just hate me because they think, oh, he's a stupid liberal, or, you know, it's Louisville fans. So my. What they would call Q score would be probably higher likability, but also higher unlikability. But for people who listen to the show, if you were to really poll them and make them be honest, I think this would be the list. Mario would be number one, no doubt, because no one dislikes. Mario is the prop now he would get from regular listeners. He would be first. Drew would be second. Because no one I. There's almost nobody that dislikes Drew. Third is probably Ryan, but Ryan has his. There are women that have. Are like, Ryan's gotta stop sometimes.

[Drew]

And. And there are people who would rank Shannon 1. Shannon has a contingent of people. They're out there. Oh, I've met him. Who are. STD is number one, definitely. But then there. I know a lot of women who are like, Shannon is sexist, so he gets the extremes. But there were. There would be Shannon ones, and Billy would probably be six. But I think Billy. Billy's score has raised a lot. Billy is now in the competition.

That's right. You went from last to still last, but not as far in last.

Yeah, you went from last to not quite as far last. I think that's probably fair.

Until this year. Until this year. All right, let's do. Let's do some basketball here. I want to go through the non conference games. Okay. I'm gonna do this with the conference games next week, but go through the non conference games. I just want win or lose. And if you pick win, I want to know how many points.

All right. Okay. Win or lose, how many points? We start the season Nov. 4 against Nichols. What state is Nichols in? Louisiana.

I just know it's our first opponent in the bb.

I think Nichols is in Louisiana. We open the season Tuesday, November 4th. That's election day, by the way. We open it against Nichols. Give me if you win or lose. And if it's a win, give me the score or how many points.

So right now, Shannon, Billy and I have one loss. Drew has no losses. As we get into December 9th in North Carolina Central, it's another big win.

I spoke at North Carolina Central one time about the death penalty. I've told this story before, but I said, I'm against the death penalty in all situations. Guy raises his hand and goes, what about for Osama bin Laden? And I was like, well, if he was tried in American court, I'd still be against the death penalty. He goes, all right. Then somebody else raised their hand. What about somebody were to kill your parents? I was like, okay, that's awful. But I would still be against the death penalty. And then somebody just stands up next and goes, what if they were to kill him and just pointed to the other guy on stage. I was like, I need to say again, my answer is not going to change. But they were just trying to come up with the craziest scenario they could. So that's why we're going to beat about 53 Indiana at home. Who you got? What you got?

[Drew]

Oh, beat Indiana by 13.

[Billy]

Yeah. Beating Indiana by 33.

[Matt Jones]

I'm going to say five.

[Shannon]

Yeah. I think it's going to be a close game. I think Kentucky by six.

I Think Pope is overwhelmed by Rick being across the. The way.

Okay, and so you're gonna say St. John's about two.

Okay, yeah, I'm taking St. John's as well by three.

My logic on that is I just. I can't pick us to win every game. So I had to pick somewhere.

And. And Kentucky wins by six.

Okay, and then Bellarmine, I gotta pick.

Kentucky by 32, 33, Kentucky by 10. All right, so we have Drew and I only have one non conference loss. Billy and Shannon have two.

So see, that's why we're not like Billy.

But what's interesting about this is we, we have a lot of tough conf. Non conference games, but they're all games that like, if you think we're going to beat Louisville, then North Carolina and Gonzaga and Indiana are essentially home games. Right. Michigan State is a neutral. I have them losing that one. Like we've lost. We lost Ohio State, I think last year in a game like that. But they do have a chance, Drew, to have a really good non conference while they're still playing these good teams. When we play Gonzaga, North Carolina, Indiana, we're gonna have home games and then St. John's I would say in Atlanta, we have more fans there than St. John's probably does, right? Oh, yeah.

[Drew]

I was at that game in Atlanta three years ago when they beat Carolina and there, I mean, Carolina got into. But there were Kentucky fans everywhere in that city before, during and after.

[Matt Jones]

So I mean, the heart. Would you. I think the hardest game we have in the non conference is at Louisville.

[Billy]

Yeah, that's a tough one.

[Drew]

Point guard, you.

[Billy]

Apparently they're fired up for that.

[Matt Jones]

I mean, to me, that is most likely the hardest game.

[Drew]

When Ken Palm put out his rankings, he puts out like a forecast. He didn't have Kentucky losing to the middle of January.

[Matt Jones]

I mean, I could see it. All right, who's up next? Shannon?

Called in yesterday, but we ended up running out of time. So I didn't get to talk to. You live in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, but I was visiting my mom in Jefferson Town, which is just outside of that bad name city in Jefferson County. So anyway, I was heading home yesterday, but I had to make a stop at Kentucky Branded and shout out to Emily out at Shelbyville Road Plaza. I ended up spending about 200 bucks. So kudos to that.

So on my way home, I ended up driving by your favorite little town at Indiana on Interstate 64. Poseyville.

[Matt Jones]

Yes, I, that, that I have. I have used the restroom there in Posyville and got caught by a police officer. That's exactly, exactly right. Good memory. That's. That was a decade ago. Did you know that?

[Billy]

I don't know that story.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah. I appreciate the call, sir. I one time was in Poseyville, Indiana, and it was late at night and I couldn't find a restroom and I just pulled off next in a, like in a field next to a gas station and just tried to use the restroom and a police officer came up and I thought I was going to get. I think they thought I was a vagrant and I thought I was going to get arrested in Poseyville and I didn't even get a ticket. He let me go with a don't just use Posyville as your toilet warning. Wow.

[Drew]

It's an emergency.

[Matt Jones]

How do you. I'm impressed that guy remembers that. That was a long time ago. That was. That was like over a decade.

[Billy]

Well, you've taught me to use hotel rooms on a long road trip.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah, but this, everything was that part of Indiana, that drive between. I can't remember what to take. I don't know if it's like Evansville and then St. Louis or if it's Kentucky to Evans. It. Like there's nothing on it, so there's nowhere to stop.

[Billy]

So you saw a field and. Yeah, your business.

[Matt Jones]

That's right. Who's next?

Anyway, as far as, as far as the football goes, we have got to come to some kind of consensus on what is acceptable and what is not. And the question has to be if seven wins is acceptable and five is not, are we going to pay $40 million to win two more games?

Yes, in my opinion. I appreciate the call. Seven is acceptable. Five is. Five is acceptable. To me, if you didn't win three last year or four last year and if you were competitive and if you didn't play silly and if it felt like there was a positive future. But I don't feel any of those things?

[Drew]

No. And even God, if he did get to seven, heck yeah. That would be pretty impressive. You'd think Holly of Bowley moving forward, you'd be thinking next year would look good. But I just, is there anyone in the fan base that has that optimism?

[Matt Jones]

No. I mean, Kentucky. My, my personal Kentucky football expectations are not super high, but they're higher than what it is now. That's, that's the way I look at it.

[Billy]

Yeah. Well, what matters is Mitch Barnhart's expectations and where he feels they're at now.

I, I, I, I do believe that we do. I, look, I gotta be honest. I've been very, and not like, unreasonably frustrated with, with Arch's progress. But, you know, I think showing up last week in that big game against Oklahoma, he actually played well. I've been very disappointed with how he played basically every other game, you know, early in the season, and he didn't really have that I'm a freshman excuse. I know he's a new starter, but he's been around for a while, so I've been a little bit frustrated. It felt like we had a much better shot this year than it felt like we did the first part of the year, but he's turned around, man. I, I thought he played really well last time. And unfortunately, the, the Wildcats quarterback situation isn't one that really necessarily makes you too nervous.

Oh, you need to be nervous. You need to be nervous. It's, it's cutter time. Cutter. Cutter. Peanut butter. And it starts on Saturday. We'll, we'll see.

Trying to catch those big races. Now goes back to one turn, which I think she's going to appreciate. She's four to one morning line, but you can spend that money too.

All right, so race six, we go to the Perryville. Captain Cook, race nine, Quiet side, horse 11 is his longer shot. Although four to one ain't the longest shot in the world there, Big Hair. But that's all right. I'll still, I'll, I'll still let you.

And you know, we've, we've talked a lot about how he doesn't. Didn't have pieces around him. He's going to take such a jump forward because he's also a great distributor. I, I think people have underrated his passing because of what you said. He just didn't have guys who could finish. But when you watch in practice, he sees things driving to the basket. He. It was like 17, 18 million dollars, but included in that was 1.5 million dollars of gambling winnings. So he declared 1.5 million gambling winnings. That's a lot of money to be up in gambling. How do you and how do you think it is? He has a press conference today where I guess they're going to ask him about it. What do you think it is? You think it's sports? You think it's roulette, you think it's blackjack? What do you think 1.5 million gambling is?

I would guess sports. And I would say somebody with that kind of money is betting massive numbers, like big numbers. So maybe he didn't hit a whole lot of picks, but maybe he bets. Yeah, an enormous amount of wagers on one or two games and hit them. And that's how you could probably do.

You, like, Drew, your governor to have 1.5 million in gambling winnings or 1.5 million in gambling losing.

You nailed it. I want him to be winning. I don't want a guy that's out an alley throwing dice, trying to get back to even because he's down so bad.

You said you were taking Shannon wearing, like.

You were wearing, like, Jeffrey Dahmer glasses at the time.

You're not wrong. Shannon was actually a big help in this because he would show me some of the fan mail he got, and it would just be letters.

I mean, Shannon was the same way. Shannon, when you started, you got a ton of hate, dude.

[Billy]

Yeah. Yeah, it does.

That's right. I still do. Absolutely. And I don't care, though, so.

Yeah, But Shannon was. You and Shannon have that in common. From moment one, you came in really hot, but I also think I appreciated that. I like the fact that you. We had. We now have six people on this show with six very distinctive personalities, and I really. I really enjoy that.

You have. You have. You have earned it. By the way, before we go, did you see what Todd golden said about Denzel Aberdeen? Todd golden was asked about Denzel Aberdeen leaving Florida for Kentucky, and he said he had some priorities beyond winning a champ. Second championship here seemed like a shot to me at Denzel Aberdeen, which is a weird thing for a former coach to do. Didn't you think?

[Drew]

It's the second, maybe third time this offseason. He hasn't been very shy and saying, you know, he didn't say it was the money, but he said there was an offer that he couldn't turn down beyond bag. He walked right into saying it was the money.

[Matt Jones]

I don't understand why Todd golden feels the need to do this. I mean, you just won a national championship, and you want a national championship when a lot of people might have lost their job, and you want a national Championship and you are on top of the world and you've got a team that could win it again this year. They've got a great team. Why take. You're right, Drew, multiple kind of passive aggressive shots at your former player. Why do that?

[Drew]

Because he's broken. Couldn't afford him, I guess, but I wanted him. But he seems bitter.

[Matt Jones]

It's not like they're not good. They're good.

[Drew]

They are good.

[Matt Jones]

So why would you. Why do that?

[Drew]

Well, they had all three of their guards leave and just guessing, golden probably in his mind was just counting on Aberdeen stepping forward in one of those spots. And then when Aberdeen had a big.

[Matt Jones]

Offer but he went and got Boogie Fland from Arkansas.

[Drew]

Yeah, Yeah.

[Billy]

I think it's just jarring when we don't hear coach speak, you know, and this was just. He probably just got a little personal about it.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah. Because he sounds very bitter, by the way. Did you see. I mean, I know it's an exhibition game, but the first game of the Stephen Pearl era did not start out great. They lost at home to an Oklahoma State team. That's supposed to be bad this year. Oklahoma State team had three starters out. Three of their five starters were out. Went to Auburn and beat them on their court. And then, I know it's an exhibition game, but still.

And he wakes up and his dad took a job somewhere else to get away from it.
