Hour number two Kentucky Sports Radio 859-280-2287 Text Machine 772-774-52541 Things I've learned here is how many people people think played for Georgetown. Fifteen people have written Mark Jackson played for Georgetown. He did not play for Georgetown. He played for St. John's it's a fact.
Ryan
Don't have to look that one up.
Matt Jones
Yeah, that one's not right. Reggie will. Reggie Lewis played for Northeastern.
Ryan Lemond
So was Reggie Williams.
Matt Jones
Reggie Williams played for Georgetown. Sleepy Floyd played for Georgetown. Jordan Burks played for Georgetown.
Ryan Lemond
Former cat There's a kid from Lexington that went up and played at Georgetown.
Matt Jones
Mac McClung played at Georgetown. The dunk champion. Who? Who from Lexington?
Ryan Lemond
V. Sanford went to Georgetown for a year. Then he transferred to Dayton.
Matt Jones
I remember V. Sanford. Where do you go to high school?
Ryan Lemond
Lexington Catholic.
Matt Jones
V. Sanford. There's a name from the past for V. Sanford. All right, let's go to a couple things here before we go. The phones. First of all, truth. We looked it up. He was completely lying about me saying I was going to give him tickets. He called on my birthday, completely made it up. I didn't even tell him to come to the bar. I didn't say anything to him. I didn't say. I didn't even. We didn't talk about the basketball game. I just asked him how he was doing, told him his health was good and somehow he transformed that into I was bringing him to the Indiana game.
Ryan Lemond
And giving him tickets, getting tickets, buying him dinner. Probably had to drive him over here.
Matt Jones
Now, somebody did say he called while I was in South Africa. Did you promise him tickets?
Ryan Lemond
Oh, I know I didn't promise him tickets because I don't. I don't have tickets.
Matt Jones
Could it have been you?
Ryan Lemond
Oh, no, no.
Matt Jones
All right.
Ryan Lemond
I shout out to Chet Lemon and found that phone call. We have proof.
Matt Jones
Shout out to him.
Ryan
Yeah, I don't think Rob would have promised tickets, though. Yeah, now I feel bad. I. I stood up for truth yesterday, said he wouldn't make that up, and now I feel like I've been pulled into it.
Matt Jones
I think that was the. That was a cla. The sort of definitive type of truth call. First of all, doesn't tell the truth. So start with that. Just completely goes against his name. Says I offered him tickets, then asked for something free, but calls me an idiot while he's asking for me to do something for him free. Like that just. That's. That's such a classic hymn.
Ryan
That's why we love him. Hope he calls back more often.
Matt Jones
But people were suggesting to me for the top 20 shows suggestions, and there were some that I had forgotten about. You know, I kind of had probably 15 of my 20, but there were probably 10 suggested yesterday that now I'm gonna have to adjust just my list a little bit. You know, somebody I'd forgotten for some reason slipped my mind. The dead giveaway show, Eric classic. I mean, that's gonna be on the list. Me getting frustrated because they kept waiting and waiting. And then he missed the show. And me, towards the end, spontaneously not.
Ryan Lemond
Quit listening to that show. You two guys over there, you couldn't quit listening because you felt it building.
Ryan
I have a picture, my phone. If me and Matt with the biggest smile is wearing Eric C. T shirts, I'm just gonna keep that Internet.
Matt Jones
That was one of those pictures. You know, Here's a funny story. When I hired the company to investigate myself, which is still the worst money I've ever spent, to spend money for people to go like, investigate you.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Why. Why would anybody want to do that? But I did, and they gave me the thing. And it's so funny to have your life revisited in this is what people could say about you.
Ryan
Form in a PDF.
Matt Jones
Yeah, in a PDF. And one of the things was there's a picture of you and a criminal. Eric C. Khan. And I was like, yes, there's a picture of me with a shirt of a criminal on two hour radio show.
Ryan
That goes with it too, with his.
Matt Jones
Abraham Lincoln statue there.
Ryan Lemond
But if you remember, at that time, Charles Ramsey was The number one topic in. In the country. And he. You got the first interview with him after all that happened. Like, that was the first time he spoke to the public.
Matt Jones
I know. It was crazy. It did that song. Everything about that was. And the. The Obama girl, she was there. The girl that dances like she was. What a bizarre. Eric C. Khan is a bizarre, like, part of Eastern Kentucky lore, isn't it?
Ryan
Yeah. And that day, especially, you just keep naming characters that were there.
Matt Jones
So, yeah, that was with this dude.
Ryan
But we didn't have a clue.
Matt Jones
That has to be on the list.
Ryan
So before you go on, a lot of people have told me I have to come forward and make sure that you include the ambient episode.
Matt Jones
I'm gonna put it on there. It has to be in there.
Ryan
So you were just. You sang with Kentucky Joe. You challenged people to foot races. That has to be in there.
Matt Jones
Well, yes. Okay.
Ryan
Just making sure.
Matt Jones
There was somebody sitting at that table right there, and I looked directly at him and said, I could beat you in a race. Bring it on.
Ryan Lemond
Oh, you did that to everybody who was sitting here that day. Not just one person. Everybody. I can. I can beat you. I can beat you.
Matt Jones
Did you think something was wrong with me?
Ryan Lemond
Yes. Drew and I both said it, like, after the first segment or second segment, we both like, oh, he's on one today. We just thought you were high on life. We didn't know you were high on ambience.
Ryan
I thought it was one of those shows where, like, sometimes Ryan's gone. Like, even when we were at Memorial recently, me and you get a little slap happy.
Matt Jones
We do.
Ryan
I thought it was one of those. You were just in one of those moods. I didn't know you actually had some.
Matt Jones
Some crazy about that show is. I can't remember any of it. I can't. Because I had. I. I was so. Because what happened is not only. So I take Ambien sometimes at night, and I take blood pressure medicine during the day, but the blood pressure medicine. I take two of this pill, but I got them confused. So not only did I take Ambien, I took two of them, which is, like. Which would. Should have made me fall over asleep. But then I immediately went on the radio, and I don't remember any of it.
Ryan Lemond
It was good radio, I'll give you that.
Matt Jones
And I don't want to go listen to it.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Because I'm kind of mortified about what might have done.
Ryan
Well, just. Just take our word for it. It's in the top 20. You can find out where you want to put it in the top 20, but it's in there.
Matt Jones
All right. I've also gotten more text messages about places to eat in Richmond than I ever thought I would after yesterday. Couple updates. Casa, whatever. Wasn't that the place somebody that's closed now. Oh, so it can no longer be on the list. Rp, Nuevo, whatever. Many confirmations about the margaritas and Madison Gardens. Almost stoops level of unanimity and people liking it.
Ryan Lemond
If you go to eat in Madison, I mean in Richmond, Madison county, you need to go to Madison Garden. It is really, really good.
Ryan
Why don't you take us, Ron? I would like to experience.
Ryan Lemond
I might go there by myself and have wings one day.
Ryan
I'll sit on the other side of the restaurant.
Matt Jones
All right, I'll tell you what. One of the days I will send you to Madison Garden. All right. There you go. We won't say which one so people don't come to meet. You love it because you have to eat by yourself. But I'll let you go there one day.
Ryan Lemond
I will be happy to do that.
Matt Jones
The UK volleyball team on Sunday has a top five matchup against Texas. This is probably for the SEC championship. Kentucky has a chance to win their eighth straight or ninth straight SEC volleyball title. If they win Sunday, they will almost certainly get it. It's at Texas. The UK volleyball team is having a watch party here at one o' clock on Sunday. We're going to have it on the big screen so I hope everybody will come out and support the volleyball team. It'll be right here on Sunday at 1 o'. Clock. But for UK volleyball, if they win, not only win the SEC probably get a 1 seed in the NCAA tournament which would allow them to host all the way up to the final four here at Memorial. Huge opportunity for the volleyball team on.
Ryan Lemond
Sunday and they're just growing in far as the fan, their fan club. I mean the matches are sold out over there. Memorial Coliseum, people are getting into it. The last time we had a watch party here we were packed. So I'm looking forward to it.
Ryan
On Sunday, Texas is ranked second. Both teams are undefeated. Kentucky hadn't really had much of a scare through the sec. So much just swept Alabama, I think. But this is the big test coming up. One of these teams is going to have to take an L and slide down.
Matt Jones
And then UK baseball, you probably, I mean we're not, we're away from baseball season. But when Tennessee's baseball coach left, Tony Vitello, two of their high ranked recruits have now flipped to Kentucky. One of them was from Lincoln County.
Ryan Lemond
Taylor County, I think.
Matt Jones
Taylor County, Yeah. He's now flipped to Kentucky. They had another one do it last night. So the loss of the crazy baseball coach at Tennessee to the Giants, probably paying dividends for Kentucky baseball.
Ryan Lemond
You know, that's one thing give about Minjion and the UK baseball staff. They have done a great job with the transfer portal and bringing in these new players every single year.
Matt Jones
Not just these are recruits.
Ryan Lemond
They are the recruits. They kind of, you know, a good mix of recruits, but the transfer portals where they've been just killing it.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Ryan
And we know how he had that program rolling there for a while. I was pretty excited to see him leave. And now we're already getting some of the benefits before his season even comes up.
Matt Jones
Yeah. And then finally, for fans of the old cover the Fade this podcast with me and Drew, you may remember we talked about a football game called the Battle of the Ravine. Okay. It's Henderson State versus AWA Wata Baptist. Is that right?
Ryan
We have the hoodies.
Caller
Right?
Matt Jones
We have. So we talked about it on Fade this. Then the. One of the schools sent us hoodies. I have a hoodie. Well, it's called the Battle of the Ravine because the school, the two schools are right next to each other. The only thing that's between them is a ravine. They're the two closest schools next to each other in America that play each other in football. Well, game day. Rhys Davis says they are likely on November 5th 15th to do game day from the Battle of the wow. It'll be the first time they ever do a Division 2 game. Henderson State against Iowa. Watcha Baptist.
Ryan
I love this. You're right. They're across the street from each other and I think it's the oldest rivalry in football. And their all time record is like two or three games apart.
Matt Jones
And they march when they play. You know, they do alternate home stadiums even though they have stadiums that are like across the street from each other. And the school that they're playing will march across the ravine to the other school to what? For the game. The team will do it. So first of all, that has to be a cool atmosphere if they do game day there. And secondly, you would have heard it for the first time on Fade this.
Ryan Lemond
I'm glad you guys brought that up. Kind of brought it to all of our attention now. I'm glad ESPN is going to be.
Matt Jones
They haven't said for sure they're doing it. They said that's one of the finalists. But I hope so. I hope they do it because I like game day. It's gotten great ratings this year, so they're probably pretty happy with it. But I do miss. They used to like once a year go to somewhere random and it doesn't feel like they've done that in a long time. This would be a cool thing to do.
Ryan
Yeah, I mean, they just went to Vandy. That was pretty random, but they've earned that one. This one came up because Billy was calling random people in Arkadelphia, remember? Yeah.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Ryan
So we just had Billy, we do a random town and this is how we learned about it.
Matt Jones
It was in art and it's in Arkadelphia. So just, I think, a cool possibility.
Ryan Lemond
I love that story and I hope they do. They hope they do it.
Matt Jones
Who's up next?
Ryan Lemond
Isaiah is up next.
Matt Jones
Isaiah. Go ahead, Isaiah.
Caller
Hey, Matt. I saw something last night with us being so bad in the sec. The picture of our two guys jumping up in the air and holding hands. That did not.
Matt Jones
That was a bad. In hindsight. That was a. For the season to come.
Caller
I agree. And then my second point is I saw a graphic on Instagram and it said. Said who would you want to have on your team that's. Or on Kentucky's team that is in the G League now that it would still be eligible? Like Ty. Ty Washington, I believe was on there. Ashton Hagen. So who are those kind of people? Do you think would pay would be a better fit for us next year, going into next year's roster if we could get them?
Matt Jones
Yeah. So Kentucky has. I saw we have something like 14 guys playing in the G League this year from Kentucky. It's. It's a. It's a lot more than you would think. If you could pick one of those players to be on this team. I'd probably say it's Kobe Bray. I was gonna say Kobe Bray. I think my answer would probably be Kobe Braya because I would like to have a dude who can just knock down threes left and right. Wouldn't you?
Ryan
Yeah, he's a good answer. Just to be different. I wish we'd gotten more Jackson Robinson. I don't know if this team would really need him, but I would love for him to get another chance at Kentucky with how it ended. You know, what is season in. In February last year.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Ryan
So I would say him more of. Just to give him the opportunity.
Matt Jones
This team with Kobe Bray, though, can you imagine, like with these guards, we have the penetrating through the lane and then kicking out what he could do.
Ryan Lemond
Wow.
Matt Jones
I mean, Seriously, he would be. Now, I don't know how he would fit in defensively with this group, but I, he, he would be someone that would be perfect for Kentucky this year.
Ryan
Yeah, he's the answer. I guess you could add in. We still don't know what low will look like, but if you wanted a little safety, a Lamont Butler back with.
Ryan Lemond
Some defense, and now with out, we could maybe use lamari Williams as a backup in the front court.
Matt Jones
I think we got plenty of Frank court. That's why I'm worried. We got too many front court guys. But yeah, I think I would go Kobe Bryant. 859280, 2287. All right, DraftKings, you could go to DraftKings. Bet 5. You can get up to $200 in bonus bets. Let's do the World Series tonight. It's game five. Two two. Generally speaking, when it's two two, whoever wins game five wins the series. So you got game five tonight, Trey. Yes. Savage for the Blue Jays and Blake Snell for the Dodgers.
Ryan Lemond
I got a fun fact about Blake Snell.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Ryan Lemond
He pitched for the Bowling Green Kentucky Hot Rods when he first got into professional baseball.
Matt Jones
Is that right?
Ryan Lemond
How about that? He's a Bowling Green hot rod because.
Matt Jones
He came up through Tampa Bay, I guess. Okay.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
So who you got, man?
Ryan Lemond
The Blue Jays are hitting a machine right now, and they, they, you know, they got. So hey, last night. So I'm gonna go Blue Jays. I got Blue Jays to win the series, actually.
Matt Jones
Oh, you do?
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Ryan
You should have put money on that one. I did some good.
Ryan Lemond
I bet a whole $2 on that one.
Caller
Okay, there you go.
Matt Jones
You bet $2 on the blue, $2.
Ryan Lemond
On the blue Jays.
Ryan
I can't bet against the Dodgers. I was surprised that they lost. Last one they went tonight. My fun fact about Blake Snell is that he wins tonight.
Matt Jones
I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go Dodgers. Did you see this story about how long it takes to get out of the parking lot at Dodgers game?
Ryan
I saw the aerial helicopter view of them leaving the 18th inning, and I thought, even I like staying late. I'm not like you leaving early. There's no way I could have been a part of that.
Matt Jones
The average amount of time it takes to get out of the parking lot of a Dodgers game is an hour and a half. Do you know how crazy I would go in that scenario?
Ryan Lemond
You would get out of your car and you'd be directing traffic out there to try to get out of there.
Matt Jones
I see you doing it. Would be it would be the worst thing that I can imagine.
Ryan Lemond
Awful.
Matt Jones
859-280-2287 we'll take a break and be right back.

Matt Jones
Walked in here. I really did. And I said, you see that girl right there? She looks like a girl that worked here when the bar opened. And then Drew goes, that is the girl that worked here when the bar opened.
Ryan
Yeah, I already said hot to her.
Matt Jones
You know, you do this long enough and you start to go, ah, wait a minute. I, you know, I realized I have a buddy who's like, daughter is like, about to graduate from college. That can't be real, right? I can't, I can't be that old, can I?
Ryan Lemond
Yep. Yippers.
Matt Jones
Let's just act like that's not true because that's, that's, that's depressing, isn't it?
Ryan
Just look at your Facebook. And then remember, you're only, you're only 39.
Matt Jones
That's what they say. You're only as old as your Facebook. 859280, 2287 One person writes, Matt, you get one ticket to any game this year. Homer away. Where are you going? One ticket. Home or away. So you also have to consider what the atmosphere will be like at the game. Which one you going to?
Ryan
I would probably say the Rick reunion in Atlanta.
Matt Jones
You're picking Rick the.
Ryan
I went to the game in Atlanta a couple years ago. Rob Dillingham, North Carolina. That one. And Atlanta really puts on a good crowd for a UK game. So I think it'd be the same. As much as I love New York City, Michigan State just doesn't do it for me in the Champions Classic. So I put Rick with a slight edge over Gonzaga in Nashville.
Ryan Lemond
Ryan, I'm going to go with the Florida game at Rupp Arena.
Matt Jones
See, that's what I was going to say. Florida game at Rupp Arena. It is the last game of the year. Decent chance that could be for the SEC championship. It's on a Sunday, so it's like the. I mean it's a Sunday. I think it's Sunday, 4 o'.
Ryan Lemond
Clock.
Matt Jones
It's going to be a wild atmosphere. It'll be the Senior Day. I think that's going to be. That's probably the one I'm picking.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, I can foresee it, the whole conference coming down to that game. So it'll be crazy.
Matt Jones
That would think about how awesome that would be if the whole conference comes down to Kentucky Florida on the last.
Ryan Lemond
That's when Rupp arenas its best to a big game. Big situation like that. That's when Rupp Arenas rocking.
Ryan
I really think it does. We did a video of our preseason predictions And I said March 7th, Kentucky versus Florida will decide the SEC regular season.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Ryan
And I looked it up. It's been like 20 something years since Kentucky and Florida have met in that last game with something that actually matters on the line.
Matt Jones
I'll also say, I think an underrated one's going to be Kentucky Carolina on that Tuesday night. I mean, it's going to be 9 o', clock, it's late. But Carolina hasn't been in here in a long time and just, you know, they're not great. But Caleb Wilson's going to be a top five to seven pick in the NBA draft. It's Carolina coming in here. I think that's going to be another really good.
Ryan Lemond
I do too. There is something about just seeing that ugly shade of blue, that pale shade of blue on the court with Kentucky that makes it special.
Matt Jones
Who's up next? John is up next. John. Go ahead, John.
Caller
You mentioned how they're probably not going to start scoops during the season, but they might do like a press conference saying like, hey, his time's up here and he's going to leave. Would they do that after the Auburn game or after the Florida game?
Matt Jones
I think if they did it, it would be after the Florida game. That's my. That would be my guess. I mean, I have no reason to think that's definitely going to happen, but to the extent I think it would, I think they would Announce it before the Florida game. I think the reason you do that is to try to salvage the experience and the atmosphere at the Tennessee Tech game, which is the next week. So I would say I would be very surprised if it announced now. If we go down to auburn, lose by 40, then that's a whole different situation. But if it's competitive, then I think it would be the Florida game.
Caller
Okay. The other thing was like I, I.
Matt Jones
Think like you probably still want to.
Caller
Have like say like Summerall or someone else is calling plays or in charge for like the Tennessee Tech game or.
Ryan
For like the rest.
Matt Jones
Well, Summer, I was not gonna be calling chart calling place. He's got his own team. Sorry.
Ryan
Not Summer White.
Matt Jones
Bradley. Yeah, well, but wipes the defensive guy. Appreciate the call. I mean I, I think, you know, I, I, I don't know. You don't really have an option if you were to let him go mid year to finish. I mean you're gonna finish the season with Bush Hampden as the coach. You're gonna finish the season with Brad White as a coach. I mean, you know, what are you gonna do?
Ryan
It would probably be Brad, just that he's been here the longest and kind of been holding it together. Anyway, I, I think if they're not competitive at Auburn here in a few days the message from the fans will be sent against Florida.
Ryan Lemond
The Florida game makes sense because they would no longer be both eligible. I think Mitch would wait till they're either mathematically. No way.
Matt Jones
But they're, but they're still Matt. Yeah, exactly. They'd have to play the Florida game for them to be mathematically. I think that's a really good. That might be the best explanation. He's not gonna say you're gone until they're mathematically.
Ryan Lemond
I agree. Yep. I think he would hold on. If they lose Auburn, then lose Florida, then maybe something might happen then Florida games at night.
Matt Jones
Are you happy about that?
Ryan
I was, or I would have been months ago. Now I'm just kind of like just, let's just get through this. Just.
Matt Jones
It is going to be cold though. Nighttime. Florida's not used to that.
Ryan
No, I agree with all those things. But like even winning that game, you know, I'll always appreciate a win over Florida. But I'm still just gonna be like, all right, just get me past Thanksgiving so I can watch basketball.
Matt Jones
Who's up next? Adam is up next.
Ryan Lemond
Adam.
Matt Jones
Go ahead, Adam.
Caller
Hey, guys. To the colors Point in the first hour. Who said, you know sleeves. The sophomore class may transfer out. You also have to think that if you hire the right guy, he's going to bring in his own players with him.
Matt Jones
Yes.
Caller
From that school. So it's kind of a new point.
Matt Jones
Well, remember Signetti brought the James Madison team to Indiana and next year they're in the playoff, so.
Caller
Exactly. My question is, besides the Kentucky Purdue game, what exhibition has stuck out to. To you the most? Just surprising or you know. Yeah, I would say unc.
Matt Jones
Byu. Yeah. Or it would be Arkansas. Arkansas. Arkansas has played really well in two different games. I mean, they beat Cincinnati by 25 and then they played Memphis and won again. And they've looked good in both games. I think Cal's got a real team down there, so that's. That's probably the thing that stuck out to me the most.
Ryan
Yeah. I haven't watched those games, but I did, you know, search names and read recaps and it looks like his freshman guard, especially Malik Thomas, is going to be good.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Kyle's always at his best. If he's got a great freshman guard, it's all. Historically, that's always been one of his best and it looks like he might have that this year. And so they may be pretty good. We'll take a break and be right back. It's Kentucky Sports Radio. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. 859-280-2287. Antonio Reeves. How did we forget Antonio Reese? He's in the G League. That's my pick for who would be on the. You could pay. I'm an Antonio Reeves. What Antonio Reeves stand like. I'm Antonio Reeves.
Ryan Lemond
You're president of the Antonio Reeves fan club in this town for sure.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Because I think he was. I think he was great and he was underrated and by his senior year he could do everything. You know, his junior year he was a good shooter, but by his senior year he could score in every way possible. And I still think he. Cal played him despite. I don't think he particularly liked playing him, but he was just too good. He didn't have a choice.
Ryan Lemond
So he's in the G League right now. He was on the. On A roster most of the year last year, wasn't he?
Matt Jones
He was on the roster for the Pelicans, but I think he's on the Hornets G league now.
Ryan Lemond
What about Oscar?
Matt Jones
He's on the G League, too.
Ryan Lemond
He's in the G League, too.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
We can make a pretty good starting five out of a G League, guys.
Matt Jones
I mean, Oscar's great. I just think we have big.
Caller
Yeah.
Ryan
I don't think we need Oscar. Yeah, I love Oscar, but I enjoy the NBA.
Matt Jones
Oh, yeah. Oscar teams have to run through Oscar, which I wouldn't want this team to do.
Ryan
You know, one guy that's bouncing back and forth from the G League in the. In the Hawks that's blowing up is Jacob Toppin has really, really had some big games with the Hawks. He might not even be in the G League anymore. They might have promoted him, but he's a name we don't mention that's really stepped up since he's gotten at least on the fringe of being a pro player.
Matt Jones
How about Tyrese Maxey, by the way? He joins? I think it was like Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, and Elgin Baylor for most points ever in your first four games of the season.
Ryan Lemond
Pretty good company to be with if.
Matt Jones
You'Re Tyrese Maxey, but can you believe how good he's got?
Ryan Lemond
He is just. He is a superstar in the making. You know, we've seen Shea and the growth he's got where he's mvp. Maxi's going to be in that conversation maybe this year, next year, also.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I mean, he's. He's another one we kind of forget when it comes to UK guys that play here. We kind of forget Tyrese Maxey. But he was. That Michigan State game in the Garden was still. That was a fun, fun game that year.
Ryan
Yeah. And Philly fans love Tyrese Maxey. He's not just how good he is. He's got a great personality. Remember, he put out that video opening a can opener a few weeks ago? Like, he. He just seems like a downer. He still almost seems like a kid. Almost. But they love him there. We loved him here.
Matt Jones
Yeah. So congrats to Tyrese, how good he's been. Who's up next?
Ryan Lemond
Wildcat? Gary is.
Matt Jones
Gary. Go ahead, Gary.
Caller
Hey, Matt. So we're all in lockstep with getting rid of Stoops, but does anybody actually trust Mitch making the next hire?
Matt Jones
All right, fair question. Do you appreciate the call? Do you trust Mitch Barnhart to make the next tire? Ryan?
Ryan Lemond
I. I do. I mean, I know he had a misstep with Joker, but outside of that, he hired, you know, Rich Brooks. He hired Mark Stoop. So far our football program goes, he's. He's two out of three. And at the time, Joker seemed like a great hire. So I guess to answer your question, I trust Mitch Barnhart with his hire.
Matt Jones
No, I do not. Oh, you do not. I didn't expect that to be your answer.
Ryan
I agree with Ron he's made some good ones, but the sport has completely changed, and he wasn't loving the change. And I think the top priority needs to be someone who loves nil and the chaos. And I don't know if that has been Mitch's mindset since it's happened.
Matt Jones
Yeah, that's an interesting view.
Ryan
I want somebody that's trying to be on the cutting edge.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Ryan
Somebody with. Maybe they don't have to be young, but maybe a new coach with some fire that's really ready to jump in.
Matt Jones
Just. Just do the people that he was looking at for the basketball coach. Does that make you feel any better? The fact that he would have been willing to hire a Danny Hurley because, I mean, on a personal level, he would have hated Danny Hurley.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And he was still willing to put aside that personal whatever it would be that he had for Danny Hurley that he was. He was willing to do that. Does that make you feel like he'd be willing to hire, you know, someone like that?
Ryan
No. Mark Pope was a great hire. I'm not downplaying that. I just worry about football is different circumstances.
Matt Jones
Well, to your point, though, Mark Pope was a great hire, though that also fits the kind of person football we need.
Ryan
We need a little.
Ryan Lemond
A little different.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Yeah. That's interesting. I mean, I would say.
Ryan
And like Scott Drew was. He was all in on that, but.
Matt Jones
Scott Drew is a very Mitch Barn.
Ryan
That's what I mean.
Matt Jones
You know, it worked out with Pope.
Ryan
Love it. Great job, Mitch. With football, I still would worry.
Matt Jones
Well, let's put like this. Let's say he had a phone call tomorrow from Lane Kiffin that says, I would. I would like to come coach at Kentucky. Do you think you would hire Lane Kiffin?
Ryan
Yes.
Matt Jones
I'm not sure if he would.
Ryan
If you have an ad that turns down Lane Kiffin right now, they need to be at the unemployment office.
Matt Jones
So you think he would do that.
Ryan
If link given genuinely wanted to be at Kentucky and you couldn't make that happen. Get out of here. I don't care who you are.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Ryan Lemond
I think the fact that he. He had to go make Danny hurry Hurley say no. I think he knew you have to go out to the best of the best. So I think just the fact he did that would lead me to believe he would do the same with Lane Kiffin. If Lane Kiffin called, he would definitely.
Matt Jones
I mean, look, we're not. Lane Kiffin's not coming here. I'm just sort of theoretically saying, would he. Do you think he would make personality Keep him from getting somebody.
Ryan
If they're Elaine Kiffin type. That's not as proven as Lane Kiffin. I'm trying to think of an example. I could see him not loving it.
Matt Jones
Well, let's just use some names. You think he would hire James Franklin?
Ryan Lemond
I think he would talk to.
Ryan
He's a big enough name. I think he would have to.
Matt Jones
Let's. Let me just ask that you this. Would our fan base if James Franklin got announced as the coach, would our fan base be excited?
Ryan
I think a lot of them would. Some people just remember him running up the score from Vandy the Citrus Bowl. It's more of a personality thing. Anywhere he goes. I mean the people that work with him say he's a jerk. You'd have to get over that. But he has outside of winning top 10 games which was the problem at Penn State, he is a winner. I mean what he went at Vandy.
Matt Jones
So you do think they'd be excited for the most people be excited.
Ryan Lemond
I think you know, Mark Stutz was the fourth or fifth or sixth choice when they hired him. And the only thing I knew about Mark dudes was his last name. But I talked myself into getting excited about him. So you think I'll do the same thing about James.
Matt Jones
Did you get excited about Brian Kelly?
Ryan Lemond
Oh, you know, I watched that Saturday down south thing and I grew to where I did not like that man at all. That'd be tough to get excited about him.
Ryan
I couldn't do Brian Kelly, but he couldn't even take it.
Matt Jones
He's won everywhere he's gone.
Ryan
I just. I couldn't do it.
Ryan Lemond
I don't know. That'd be it.
Ryan
I mean I'd sit here and cheer for the team, but I. I would not like Brian Kelly.
Ryan Lemond
Would you?
Matt Jones
No, no. But I. I mean if you were just talking about quality of coach, he's probably a much higher quality coach than almost anybody else we could get. Probably.
Odoo Announcer
Yeah.
Matt Jones
But from a personality perspective, he is awful. I mean my family like. Like I just could come in here.
Ryan
And try to do Kentucky accents and talk about our stuff. Where's my hot brown?
Matt Jones
You know, I just think they need to go get. They need to go get a young guy who this is. They want to take on the world and this is the way they take on the world. That's what they need. And they need somebody who. Who this is their passion and who they look at this fan base and say let's go and let's take it to the new era. What I would say about Mitch hiring them is. I'm okay with Mitch making the hire, but what I would say to Mitch is, if you're leaving in a year, he needs to look in the mirror. If he's leaving in a year, then he needs to let whoever's replacing him have a role in this. Because I do not think it's the right thing to do to leave and then leave the next person to deal with whatever you did.
Ryan Lemond
I can see if this happens. And he has to hire a new football coach. I see him staying on for a couple extra years just because of that. Like, I can't. I can't leave this to the new guy. I got to kind of see this through.
Matt Jones
But I also would say to Mitch, you've done a great job, but let's not act like you're the only person that can do anything. You know, sometimes Mitch, I think, does have the view of, I'm going to stay here to make sure this. Well, we don't. Other people can do things. You're not the only person on earth that can manage. You know what I mean?
Ryan
I understand. We also remember, whoever the coach is, whatever you think of how they pick, I mean, Mitch is going to have to sit down with their agent and come up with an agreement.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I definitely would like.
Ryan
And we know how it's gone.
Matt Jones
Can we get some extra lawyers in the room for Mitch's negotiations this time? Let's. Let's get a couple people in there because I don't think he can do that on his own. Who's next?
Ryan Lemond
David is up next.
Matt Jones
David, Go ahead, David.
Caller
Hey, Matt, this is David, and I'm calling just a few minutes away from the former home of Eric C. Khan.
Matt Jones
Well, good. Nice. Nice to have you, David.
Caller
Okay, thank you. Hey, I just wanted to say I think we're all happy that Jasper and all the great Kentucky boys that we have, Cutter, Trent, Jasper, Malachi, and we could have a fifth guy in there, Travis Perry. But, you know, he went to Ole Miss, and I'm not happy about that, but it seems like a lot of you guys on the radio constantly defending and. What do you mean, defend?
Matt Jones
Defend who? Defend Travis?
Caller
Well, yeah, Travis. I mean, I mean, I remember growing up when there's a guy named Todd May and everybody roasted him for being a traitor when he went to. Wait for it.
Matt Jones
It's a different time. I mean, Travis wasn't going to play this year. If Travis Perry was on this team, he'd be the 13th man. So if he. If he. Yes. And. And while I think UK would have liked to have had him. He did the right thing. He's.
Ryan Lemond
He.
Matt Jones
He may start for Ole Miss. He wasn't starting here, so I don't consider him a trader at all. Travis did exactly what Travis should do for Travis.
Caller
Okay, I. I can dig that. I just wish he would have went somewhere other than the sec, But I guess he's got a thing for Chris Beard.
Matt Jones
And, yeah, he almost went to Ole Miss out of. I mean, again, think about his options. He lives in Line County. Oxford, Mississippi, is not that far from Line County.
Ryan
People don't realize there's a lot of western Kentucky people that end up at Ole Miss. It's not far.
Matt Jones
It's not that far. And then Chris Beard. Chris Beard tried to hire or, excuse me, tried to get him out of high school. So I don't. I don't think that's. It made perfect sense to me. And Ole Miss, I appreciate the call. They're not a rival to us, really. I mean, we're in the same conference, but it's not like. It's not like we have serious Ole Miss issues, do we?
Ryan Lemond
I don't. And I think most people probably want him to have a great season. Just don't shoot the lights out against us, you know, do what you want to against other teams. Light up Mississippi State. Don't light up Kentucky.
Matt Jones
I have no animosity to Travis.
Ryan Lemond
I don't either.
Ryan
I would have done the same thing he did if I were in his shoes. Whose minutes is he taken on this current team?
Matt Jones
No one's. I mean, we were going to go get a better backup than him.
Ryan
Yes.
Matt Jones
So.
Ryan
And they paid good money for him, and he doesn't have an NBA career. He has to get what he can right now in this wild world of college basketball.
Matt Jones
And there were a couple things that happened during the season with some folks around Travis Perry that I don't think made everybody at UK feel the best. So I think that was part of it as well. I don't think it was Travis, but some of. I don't think he was well served by a couple of the people around him. And that stuff matters, too, in. In today's world. So I think. I think it was the right decision. Commonwealth causes their bourbon raffle is tomorrow. Ryan.
Ryan Lemond
It's a big raffle.
Matt Jones
They want me to do this Halloween read, sir. Let me tell you what it says. The bourbon raffle is downright irresistible. It is.
Ryan Lemond
It also spooktacular.
Matt Jones
No. Let me do the. Let me do the.
Ryan Lemond
Gotcha.
Matt Jones
Eerie Vista. This Month's prize cauldron is bubbling over with $20,000 in bourbon featuring the legendary Pappy Van Winkle vertical. Other hauntingly good prizes include the Weller vertical, the Blanton's eight bottle letter set, Club Blue three bottle set, and more. Big bourbon, big prizes. Commonwealthcauses.org Tickets are disappearing faster than a ghost at dawn. Commonwealthcause.org for the raffle tomorrow night.
Ryan Lemond
Did a good job with that one.
Matt Jones
What do we. Let me ask a question. Should we dress up for the remote Friday at Whiskey Thief? For I would. You know, it is Halloween. We've never done that. But do you think, I mean, we're doing a live show. It is Halloween. Should we dress up? I'm willing.
Ryan
I don't. I don't have a costume, but I'll try to throw something together.
Ryan Lemond
You don't have to twist my arm. I absolutely will dress up now.
Matt Jones
You can't wear the same costume you wear every year. You cannot come as a knight.
Ryan Lemond
That's my go to costume.
Matt Jones
I know, but you do it every year, so you have to do something else. If you're doing this, you have to be something else.
Ryan
Okay, Mine's up to how quickly Amazon can dress me. I don't have anything, but I will if I can get it.
Matt Jones
Okay, so we're gonna do a costume. Mario, you gonna do a costume? You can just as bronnie I think you are. So we're doing a cut. You let Shannon know we're doing a costume.
Ryan Lemond
Okay.
Matt Jones
I'm contemplating, just so you know, being a whiskey thief.
Ryan
Oh, you're gonna steal the whiskey.
Ryan Lemond
Very clever.
Matt Jones
Yeah, so I'm probably not gonna do it, but that's what I'm contemplating. We'll take a break and be right back this KSR.

Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio 859-280-2287. You caught me singing during the break. I've been.
Ryan Lemond
You were saying gloom, despair and agony on me. Why are you singing that?
Matt Jones
Well, that's. I was singing that, but I've been on a he haw kick it showed up on my Tick Tock. And it's the one that's like, where. Where are you tonight?
Ryan Lemond
Why did you leave me here all alone?
Matt Jones
So those on Tick Tock, it came up, like, I've watched an hour's worth of them because, you know, it always starts with the guys like, my wife and my dog and, like, he does. And then like, some country singer turns around.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And then they spit in each other's face at the end of it. Which, again, this was entertainment. When we went, like, when I was a kid, people just going, you were gone. You all know Shannon's not here. Shannon would appreciate it.
Ryan
He was singing with you.
Matt Jones
You were singing it. Okay, so that's nice, but I've been. That's been on my mind for. For days. And I made up a couple about Mark Stoops.
Ryan
Let's hear him.
Matt Jones
Yeah, well, okay. I have to. I'll tell you.
Ryan Lemond
Let's take a call while you get it ready. Get in the mind frame and so.
Matt Jones
I can get in the mind frame to do my Mark Stoops. Where, oh, where are you tonight? So I'm not on ambient tonight, I promise. Who's. Who's next?
Ryan Lemond
Mike is up next.
Matt Jones
Mike, go ahead, Mike.
Caller
Yeah, man, I tried to get in yesterday. I had a question I wanted to ask you, but you've answered. You cannot.
Matt Jones
But do we think. I know, it's a little. Well, we lost. Sorry, you're breaking up. I can't hear you. I'm sorry. Who's up next?
Ryan Lemond
Sarah's up next.
Matt Jones
Sarah, go ahead. Sarah.
WashablesOfSofas Announcer
Hi.
Matt Jones
Yes, I just wanted to let you all know my family is actually of.
WashablesOfSofas Announcer
The Hayden Bourbon family. And Basil.
Matt Jones
You all pronounce the name Basil. It's actually Basil Hayden. It's Basil Hayden. Okay.
Lego Star Wars Announcer
It is.
Caller
Yes.
Matt Jones
The bourbon and the basketball player both are Basil Hayden. Thanks for the correction.
Ryan
That was me that said it wrong. I apologize.
Matt Jones
Good bourbon.
Ryan
Good bourbon. Now I'm glad I know how to say it.
Ryan Lemond
I definitely heard it both. Both ways.
Odoo Announcer
Thank you.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, I remember, like, when he was still alive, they introduced him one time at Ruffering, like, In the late 90s, he was still alive. And they let everybody know he was the first All American in UK basketball.
Matt Jones
See, I didn't know that. Basil Hayden, the first All American in UK history.
Ryan Lemond
And they named his bourbon after him.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Well, that's cool. All right, well, thank you. I appreciate it, Sarah.
Caller
Yes, no problem.
WashablesOfSofas Announcer
Thank you.
Matt Jones
All right, so I'd like to do this song that I wrote.
Ryan Lemond
Please do.
Matt Jones
But I don't know if I can get the.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, you can.
Matt Jones
Last night I saw Stoops hanging at Ruby's. He looked so sad and started to dash. I hollered and said, don't worry, old Marky. Thanks to Mitch Barnhart, you still have the cash.
Ryan Lemond
Where are you tonight?
Matt Jones
Why didn't you leave?
Ryan Lemond
Leave me here all alone.
Matt Jones
I can't do it anymore. I'm sorry. I can't do it anymore.
Ryan Lemond
I want to do the blurpy in your face, though.
Matt Jones
I actually wrote that for my friend Duncan. I just. We were doing. He, he. We were riding back and forth. Some of them I can't read, but that was the one I was able to do.
Ryan
Sound like a busy night at the Jones house.
Ryan Lemond
You go eat by yourself.
Matt Jones
This is what you have to look forward to next week. Who's up next?
Ryan Lemond
You can't top that one.
Matt Jones
You like that one, didn't you, Rick? Made you laugh. Rick, I think of the whole time of you producing the show is right there. Go ahead. David is up. David. Go ahead, David.
Ryan
Yes?
Caller
Two quick questions with Stoops. Do you think the public understanding that he was wanting to leave Kentucky has affected his game this year at all?
Matt Jones
Actually don't. I think they've actually prepared surprisingly well considering all that's been going on.
Caller
Okay. And then a second one. Is our injured point guard. Any idea what time this year he might come back?
Matt Jones
He'll be back, I think, before the Louisville game. Do you expect him to be back for the season opener? Drew, Jalen, Lowe.
Ryan
They might rest him one more because there's two before Louisville. I would say certainly by the second game. First one we'll see. Pope will update us here in.
Matt Jones
We'll see him in two hours. That could be your question.
Ryan
There you go, Ryan.

Ryan Lemond
This was not no ambient and it.
Matt Jones
Includes it, says Marky. Because that's what they do on the show. They always would put people's name and add a Y to it.
Ryan
You know my favorite part of the song?
Matt Jones
What?
Ryan
Looking up, seeing Mario getting video of it.
Matt Jones
We're not putting that one out.
Ryan
That was my.
Matt Jones
There's no video there.
Ryan Lemond

Matt Jones
No, that's. Send it to me.
