Now to talk a little UK Football with our old buddy Cash. Daniel, we used to have you on every pregame show and now you're big wrestling star. We don't get to see him much anymore.
Cash Daniel
I don't know about big wrestling star yet, but I'm working my way there. Appreciate you guys having me on, man.
Ryan Lemond
So, kind of update us. Where are you now in your wrestling career?
Cash Daniel
So we started off a couple months ago. Threw me in kind of, you know, know, learning. Learning on the fly a little bit. Still in training, doing all that. And then I. We kind of had a conversation, you know, with me and Al and Doug Bash, and we're like, listen, we got a couple months left of training. Let's really polish this thing up. And also had like, a little minor tweak of an injury, too, so nothing too serious, but, you know, it was a good call by everybody involved. And so we've now finished training, and now we've got some plans to make a pretty good comeback. We got something in the works, something coming.
Ryan Lemond
Is there already a scheduled date for your comeback?
Cash Daniel
Dates have not been scheduled, no. But we have, like, an idea maybe of, like, a general time, you know, that we want to bring it back. So I don't know exactly when it's going to be, but it's going to be sooner than later, so.
Drew Franklin
Well, before you got deep into the training and had the little tweak there, you did have a few nights in the ring. And I think last time you were on the show, you'd either think you might have been promoting the Pikeville show or had just done it.
Cash Daniel
Yep, I think we were promoting it. Yeah.
Drew Franklin
I mean, we all know your story. You grew up loving wrestling. How did it feel to get out there in front of the hometown crowd and actually go through and get the ring, man?
Cash Daniel
It's crazy. So we did it at. I can't. It's Appalachian Wireless arena now. So back in the day when I was growing up, going to concerts and the 15th region tournament and all that stuff, it was called the Expo Center. And so, ironically, the Expo center was the first. Was the first place I ever saw a wrestling match. So with it being my first wrestling match there, it was. It was kind of surreal, but, you know, it was great during hillbilly days. So everybody there was enjoying their carnival rides and all the great food and got to see some wrestling. So it was. We made quick work of Tony Evans out there like we knew we would and got the win and got out of there. But it was awesome, man. It's something that brings me. Energy is something that brings me the same kind of feeling that I had, you know, out there playing football. So it's something you're always chasing, that's for sure.
Drew Franklin
I was going to ask that, with all due respect to the Arena. It probably doesn't have as many people as Kroger Field on a Saturday night, but you still get that adrenaline rush just in a different way.
Cash Daniel
Yeah, absolutely. Because it's a. The same kind of. Same kind of mindset, like, you have to perform, and everything is on you. And so, yeah, it definitely brings back that. That mindset of, okay, now it's on. We got to go. Let's do this thing.
Drew Franklin
And it probably. I'm sure you've missed that juice a little bit. Probably fills that void a little bit for you.
Cash Daniel
Absolutely. You know, it's something like I said, that there's no better feeling than, you know, having that energy, you know, and being able to go out there and, you know, put on a great show for people. Because at the end of the day, you know, there's so many people that just want to be able to, you know, escape, you know, their everyday lives for a couple hours and go and be entertained. And so that's what we do, you know, and it's. It's a great platform to do it. It's the perfect mixture of theatrics and athletic ability and sports and everything like that. So I think that's why there's such a big draw to it. You know, it's just because of how athletic you have to be, but also at the same time, kind of throwing some theatrical aspects in there, too.
Ryan Lemond
We've all said, if there's one guy who's come through here that is perfect for this kind of career, it is you. I mean, you were made for you even back in high school, and you were talking your postgame trash sometimes.
Cash Daniel
You.
Ryan Lemond
You were made for this role, I think.
Cash Daniel
Yeah, I think we even solidified it right out there when we had the infamous jokes.
Ryan Lemond
You picked me up and slammed me through a table.
Drew Franklin
I wanted to bring that up. I'm looking over Ryan's shoulder at the scene of the crime, and then I'm looking at you.
Ryan Lemond
I.
Drew Franklin
Before you walked in, I watched the clip on Twitter. In fact, I'll retweet it. Well, Brian, we can't do that again, right, Ryan, was that a one and done?
Ryan Lemond
I look at him now. He is bigger, even bigger than he was last time.
Cash Daniel
Well, timeout now. That was against Florida a couple years ago, and I do believe we won that game, Drew.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. And he's been training Ryan. He's even better now than he was.
Cash Daniel
I got it even down, packed. Even better now, Ryan, you know what that was?
Ryan Lemond
The last SEC home win, I think, was against Florida. That Day.
Drew Franklin
I don't think it's a question anymore. You know, Cash, Ryan and I had to sit down with a very high up person at iHeart. We had to meet him. It was a big deal. We dressed up. Ryan had a little product in his hair.
Ryan Lemond
It was a big meeting, took a shower.
Drew Franklin
Point of story is a big meeting. But the guy was asking us about the pregame show. Like, I hear you guys like to have fun. You get them fired up. Like, what's an example of that? And I point at Ryan and I was like, well, former player put this guy through a table. And he just looked at me like, what do you mean he put him through a table? So that was our way of introducing Ryan to one of the higher ups at iheart just a few weeks ago too.
Cash Daniel
Well, I guess the people going does his job well.
Drew Franklin
That's right.
Ryan Lemond
Are you going to be here for the pregame show Saturday?
Cash Daniel
I didn't plan on it, but I'm.
Ryan Lemond
Gonna say I'm hiding if you're coming here.
Drew Franklin
Oh, I thought you were committing to it right here. I thought we were gonna get it. We gotta beat Florida.
Ryan Lemond
If it would guarantee a win, I would let Cash slam me through the table one more time. One more time. If we do it before during the pregame show on Saturday, which is what, 3:30 to 5:30. Can you make it?
Cash Daniel
I can make it.
Drew Franklin
Mario, you got a table. All right, looks like we have all the pieces we need.
Cash Daniel
Didn't we have someone actually go and find a table?
Drew Franklin
Yeah, I think they did. I think a listener brought us a table.
Cash Daniel
That was hilarious.
Drew Franklin
All right, I'm gonna add it to my to do list. Ryan. So about 7pm ish. I'll make sure we have a table.
Ryan Lemond
Cash brought it up. That's the last time Kentucky won, beat Florida, was last SEC home win was against Florida. So when this is kind of redoing the whole thing, I think we got to relive the moment.
Cash Daniel
Absolutely. Gotta see if magic strikes twice.
Drew Franklin
You know, yesterday we were talking about would you like not watch an entire basketball season to win a championship and the sacrifices that sometimes fans have to make and would you do this? Would you do that? You've have one pop up right now.
Ryan Lemond
That's true.
Drew Franklin
You have the keys to the Florida win.
Ryan Lemond
I'm a little heavier. I was a couple years ago, but.
Cash Daniel
You just said I'm a little bit bigger.
Ryan Lemond
You're a little bit bigger too.
Cash Daniel
Everything evens out.
Ryan Lemond
I'm sweating now just thinking about it.
Drew Franklin
I think it's got to happen. It's got to happen.
Cash Daniel
Hey, just tuck your chin. You'll be good.
Ryan Lemond
You told me that right before you pick me, I go tuck your chin. Boom. Pick me up, slam me in the table.
Drew Franklin
And now after, he probably has more tips that he's been through the whole school.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. All right, let's do it.
Cash Daniel
Let's do it.
Ryan Lemond
Let's do it.
Drew Franklin
Can't wait.
Cash Daniel
Mario.
Drew Franklin
Mario's face behind this camera.
Ryan Lemond
We gotta get the table.
Drew Franklin
I don't think Mario was here when we did it. Mario's never seen it.
Cash Daniel
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
All right, well, this is a good show.
Ryan Lemond
What are your thoughts about the UK football team as you've seen him so far this year, then?
Cash Daniel
You know, I'm sure I'm in the same boat with a lot of people. It's definitely not where we wanted to be. But at the same time, you know, coming off of last week's win against Auburn, you know, you definitely see some bright spots, you know, for the future of the program. You know, I think Cutter Bowley looks great. You know, I think starting out, you know, obviously he had some. Had some time to really come into his own, you know, back there at the quarterback position and really understand what it takes and what it means to, you know, be the captain of the offense and be able to go out there and put guys in position to go out there and score. But, you know, at the same time, you know, we've had our struggles, you know, on all phases of the ball, but at the same time, you know, this is a. This is a team that doesn't quit. You know, they're a tough group of dudes. And if one thing I know about Coach Stoops is that no matter how dark it gets, you know, he's not going to quit. He's not going to allow his players to quit.
Drew Franklin
So I don't know if you saw the broadcast after the game, but he seemed very emotional. A lot of pride, especially in that locker room. We all know the losing streak. Been a long time since they had won an SEC game. When you were there, you went through highs and lows. How does it feel when you do get that off your back when you've been in the lows and people are doubting you, and you might even be doubting yourselves in the locker room to go and actually get the job done?
Cash Daniel
Man, it feels like a thousand pounds gets lifted off your shoulders, you know, And I was so happy to see Coach Stoops be able to, you know, be vulnerable, you know, for a second, you know, and understand, you know, how many of these wins, you know, what they mean to him and the program and to the team in itself, and what kind of a confidence booster that can be within the locker room and, you know, really rally guys together to be able to finish this season out strong. You got a great opportunity this weekend with Florida, and for the rest of the season, we have another great opportunity to potentially, you know, was it six? We have a. If we went out, what are our. What is our record?
Drew Franklin
If you went out, you get seven. You can still lose one and make a bowl.
Cash Daniel
Okay, see, there you go. And so I would say after week three, week four of this year, there was a lot of people thinking, that's not even possible. But, you know, there's a reason why there's 12 games and 12 opportunities to go out there and, you know, and do your best. But they have a great, like I said, a great opportunity this week, great opportunity for the remaining of the season. So, you know, hopefully they can rally together, you know, and understand that, you know, this is time for us to go out there and play for each other and, you know, get this thing done.
Ryan Lemond
There's been a lot of talk, you know, about Mitch Barnhart maybe having to make a change as the coach. A lot of fans want there to be a change at coach. What is that? How does that affect you guys in the locker room? I mean, do you hear it? Do you pay attention to it? Or could you. Stoops kind of acknowledged he understands why the fans are frustrated.
Cash Daniel
Yeah, well, I mean, it's. In this day and age, it's impossible not to hear it. You know, with how big social media is, you know, and everything involved in college athletics today, there's no escaping it. Unless you literally turn your phone off and only talk to people within the facility, there's no escaping it. And Coach Stoops and the guys understand that, you know. You know, they understand that fans pay good, hard earned money to come and watch them play, and they expect to win. But I can promise you, there's nobody that expects to win more than the guys in that locker room. And, you know, at the end of the day, you know, I think in my personal belief that Coach Stoops has done one of the greatest jobs in Kentucky football history, and obviously the most winningest coach in our program. And I think that there's not a lot of people out there that could have done, you know, what he's done here. And so I know that, you know, it's very frustrating for fans this season, you Know, maybe the season before, last couple seasons has been, you know, not where we want to be, but at the same time, you know, you got to be able to, you know, trust in the leaders that make those decisions. And at the end of the day, they're going to try to put the best 11 guys out there on the field and put the team in the best position to go out there and win.
Drew Franklin
He needs to get one at home. He even said that after Saturday. That was one of the first things he said in his post game interview is, this is great, but I need one in Lexington. But winning on the road looks pretty fun.
Cash Daniel
Oh, yeah, it's just you. You're in enemy territory. It's like in the flight home. Yeah, I mean, that's, that's. We. I personally loved away games because, you know, Stoop's always painted a picture for us. It's like, you know, it's like Special Forces. Like, you know, we're going behind enemy lines. Like, it's just us. There's. There's nobody else. It's just the guys on this plane, the guys in this room, to go down there and do a job that we know that we can do. So lock in, dial in, do whatever you got to do to come back on that plane ride and have one hell of a time coming back. Because those are. Those are the things you remember. You know, I mean, I can still, you know, I talk to some of my guys daily. CJ Conrad, Greg Hart, Courtney Love, Tanner Fink, and all those guys that I roomed with. And we always just talk about, you know, the bonding experiences that we had of, you know, going to the movies before the games or the locker rooms after a big win. Even the locker rooms after a big loss, you know, when you need your brothers to pick you up, especially those playing rounds back home. So, yeah, that's. That's definitely one of the. One of the finer moments in a.
Drew Franklin
College football player's career before you got here. I remember when they broke the streak of not winning away games at South Carolina and some of the seniors were like, I've never been on a happy plane ride. I've been here four years and this is the first time we've partied on the way home. Stoops has made that a little more common since then.
Cash Daniel
Absolutely. There's nothing worse than a plane right after a loss. I mean, because everybody's just sitting there quiet. You know, you're in your head of like, what could I have done better? What we could have done better? As a collective group. But then when you win, you know, winning fixes everything.
Ryan Lemond
Amen.
Cash Daniel
I mean, that's. At the end of the day, winning fixes everything. So, I mean, I'm excited for the guys, this opportunity they got this weekend. And so hopefully they can leave Kroger Field with with the same feeling they had come back from Auburn.
Ryan Lemond
He is Cash Daniel and he's gonna be here taking some phone calls if you want to get on board and ask him a question about the cats. 859-280-2287. We do have the radio heavyweight champion here. He's not even chimed in about his wrestling experience.
Shannon Dawson
I've been away since May, so it's been a while since I've been at lvw. Maybe you should just come back with Cash, you know.
Cash Daniel
Hey, you mean there's always an opportunity. You can always, you can always jump on the bandwagon.
Shannon Dawson
Let's go. Let's do it.
Ryan Lemond
Jump on the cash bandwagon after he breaks my back on Saturday throwing it into a table. All right, we'll take our break, come back, go Back to phone lines. 859-280-2287. Ryan, Drew and Shannon with cash Daniel, this is Kentucky Sports Radio.

Ryan Lemon here, Kentucky Sports Radio. Ryan Drew, Shannon with cash Daniel. And this is your buddy, right?
Cash Daniel
Yeah, that's my buddy Luke. Yeah. Thank you guys for playing him. I know that, I know it meant a lot to him. You know, he's one of my best friends I grew up with since Paintsville and I get to see him, you know, every other week or every week now. So it's awesome. Hear him on ksr.
Drew Franklin
I like this Luke Trimble. Yeah, we'll make sure we get his full name out there.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, he sounds like Tyler Childers. I mean, you listen to him. It's. He sounds like Tyler.
Cash Daniel
Yeah. So, I mean, obviously, you know, we all come from the same area. You know, before Tyler really blew up, you know, I'm. I could be mistaken. Chili. So don't, don't get mad at me if I say this wrong. By the way, that's his nickname. We call him Chili.
Ryan Lemond
Chili.
Cash Daniel
Yeah. But I'm pretty sure Tyler taught him a little bit, you know, how to play. And so I know that he gets a lot of inspiration from, you know, so many great musicians from our area. And so you see the, the kind of, the new era of musicians coming from, from eastern Kentucky, like, like, like Luke and Cole Chaney. And you know the guys from Leslie county, the Creekers. They sound amazing.
Drew Franklin
About to bring them up. You've heard of them? I play them non stop.
Ryan Lemond
The Creekers.
Drew Franklin
Get ready for the Creek. I don't like that. Their best song is called Tennessee. But I, I'm playing it all the time.
Cash Daniel
They're great.
Ryan Lemond
Really?
Drew Franklin
Okay, I'm glad. I was literally gonna ask you if you've heard of the Creekers.
Cash Daniel
Oh, absolutely.
Ryan Lemond
That's what Shannon will play them. Maybe next segment.
Drew Franklin
Play Tennessee. I don't like the name of the song, but it's a good song.
Ryan Lemond
It's a good song.
Cash Daniel
The Creakers, they got a couple other good ones.
Drew Franklin
They do. No, I, I just play the whole. I just tell.
Cash Daniel
You know where they from? Hiding. Leslie County.
Ryan Lemond
Leslie County.
Cash Daniel
Love them.
Ryan Lemond
How about that?
Drew Franklin
Try to get some merch. We gotta work on their merch. But they're the net. They're. They're gonna blow up. Yeah, they're already kind of blowing up on Tick Tock.
Ryan Lemond
All right, we'll play that one next then. So, Shannon. So who's this segment sponsored by, by the way?
Shannon Dawson

Ryan Lemond
All right, we got.
Drew Franklin
I have breaking DraftKings news.
Ryan Lemond
Oh, breaking DraftKings news.
Shannon Dawson
Do we need the sounder?
Drew Franklin
Yeah, it's big news. It was just announced that DraftKings is now the official, official betting partner of ESPN, which had ESPN bet. I guess that means ESPN bet is going away. And now ESPN is copying off KSR by partnering with DraftKings. Wow, that's a big deal in the media world. You know, espn, they're doing a lot of move and shaking it right now. A lot of people don't love that. But I would assume ESPN bet out DraftKings in.
Ryan Lemond
So all those commercials we saw with Stephen A. Smith and kept running in the ground about ESPN bed are gone.
Drew Franklin
It's just us talking here, right?
Cash Daniel
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
ESPN Bet was never gonna work. That was a bad idea from the beginning, was it?
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, yeah.
Drew Franklin
But that's big news, though. It's all over the sports Internet world.
Ryan Lemond
Well, Cash, also, we have a listener who is bringing us a table for the pregame show Saturday.
Cash Daniel
Yeah, there we go.
Drew Franklin
We might have a couple. I have two textures.
Ryan Lemond
Really? Well, maybe we need to break a couple tables.
Drew Franklin
Are you volunteer like off the top of the Ks bar?
Ryan Lemond
You can do one, Matt can do one. Cash can throw us all around.
Drew Franklin
Then Saturday, this is all on you. Matt and I have bad backs. We're very open about our bad backs. We go to court. Physical therapy. This is, this is your. This is what you have to do.
Ryan Lemond
Here's from the aviation glass text machine. Ask Cash if he thinks what UK football is missing is tough. Kids from our state like him, Landon and Drake. I think that is part of the problem. Tough ass dudes in the trenches who love this program.
Cash Daniel
You know, man, I really couldn't tell you. You know, I know that the, the mindset that, you know, that we had coming in as Kentucky kids was that, you know, we really just want to put on First State that has been so good to us. So I think you're seeing that with, with Cutter right now. I think he understands the opportunity that he has and I think he's really coming into his own as a leader out there, you know, staying in the pocket, you know, when there's pressure, learning from him, learning from his mistakes early on of, you know, throwing the ball away when he's supposed to. But, you know, at the end of the Day, you know, from my mindset of football, of how I viewed it, was that I have an opportunity that there's millions of kids across the globe would kill for. And so I'm going to take every advantage as I can to go out there and do something that I know is not going to last forever and be able to put on for my state and my university that has enough confidence in me to allow me to come to school here and, you know, put that Kentucky across my chest. And so there's. There's obviously some pride, you know, in there that you have to. Have to. To be a team that truly cares about one another and truly cares about the program as a whole.
Drew Franklin
Florida's down a little bit this year, but that logo still means a lot. And you were on the team that ended the streak. Yep. Consumed my whole life and the whole lives of many people listening. That streak felt like it was never going to end. And to Stoop's credit, he didn't just snap it, he kind of flipped it the other way for a little while. With them coming to town now in Kentucky, even though couple point underdog, it's still a big opportunity, as we've said. Just how big is it to have like an SEC logo like that? Regardless of the personnel, just a big team like that coming in and especially.
Cash Daniel
When you get the job done, it means a lot. I mean, you know, like you're saying with that logo, there comes a lot of history with that. And so obviously breaking the streak in 18 and then the big win at home a couple years later and then going back to the Swamp and having a big game and winning there. You know, like you said, we kind of flipped a table, you know, on Florida for a little bit there. And so it's always great, you know, to beat the blue and orange down there or in Lexington, no matter where it is. And so like we said a thousand times before, you know, another big opportunity for them to come in and, you know, come out with a big SEC win. And that means a lot to the program. It means a lot to them moving forward for the rest of the season. So I expect to have, you know, a, to see a dialed in team understanding that the opportunity that they have in front of them and being able to come out and execute and get the job done. So that's what we're expecting.
Drew Franklin
You mentioned you've been really busy training and you had gone through a little bit of an injury. Look like you've been working out a little bit too. Have you been able to tailgate at all. I know two or three seasons ago you had the rv, your big tailgater once you stepped away from football. But have you had a chance this season?
Cash Daniel
No, not really. I went, I went to the opening game, tailgated for just a little bit. You know, I've kind of. I've kind of divorced myself from the game a little bit, you know, and really understand of what I like to do in my free time. You know, working a full time job now, you know, you only get so many hours to do exactly what you want to do. So I really prioritize, obviously my training prioritize, you know, being with my family, being with my friends and being out in the outdoors. I mean, that's something that I've really gotten back into and something that brings me, you know, joy, something that brings me peace and something that, you know, I always, always look forward to. So if I'm not working, working out, training, or wrestling, you can find me in the woods, that's for sure.
Ryan Lemond
859-280-2287. We got a caller getting on board. So who we got? Shannon.
Shannon Dawson
Let's go to Austin.
Ryan Lemond
Austin, you're on with Cash. Daniel, go ahead.
Caller
I've got a basketball question for you guys, but should I wait or is that okay?
Ryan Lemond
Go ahead. Now Cash knows basketball a little bit.
Caller
All right, I just got a question for you guys about Pope's decision to not start Aberdeen the other day at point guard. I feel like when we started the game, I thought it would be pretty obvious that that would be the best move for the team to start adverting. But unless he didn't say he was putting him on some kind of minutes restriction, but for some reason he didn't start him. And then afterwards Said made a comment about how he should have started him all along, and I don't understand, like, do you have any insight to why he didn't go with Aberdeen to begin with? I felt like that was pretty clear or, you know, I appreciate the phone call.
Ryan Lemond
I mean, I think it's kind of just kind of easing him in, kind of get baby steps back in there. You know, he had been out of practice, so he hadn't been running with the ones at all for a couple, for a week or so. So I think it was, I think it was. I think it was probably the right move, kind of bring him in gradually and then let him get his legs underneath him and then go ahead and start him the second half.
Drew Franklin
I agree. You only get so many chances to see what you have with Chandler. And Jasper Johnson. So going into it, I mean, he probably didn't expect the first half to be that poor, but you at least want to experiment. Especially Aberdeen, as you said, had missed a week of practice. It's a growing issue where issues were coming and going. You're playing nickels. So I think Pope just wanted to see what he had right there with the other guys. But then once he saw, it's like, alright, time to get Aberdeen back in that natural spot.
Ryan Lemond
Got another one from the Avation flash text machine. Ryan, ask Cash about UK hockey. He's been a big supporter for years.
Cash Daniel
Yeah, I love the guys over at the hockey club, man. They're. They're great dudes, you know, and they've always treated me well. You know, Ryan, the GM over there does a great job with them. Coach especially does a great job with those guys. Actually, they work out at one of the gyms that I work out here in Lexington too, so I get to see those guys a couple times a week. But hockey's awesome, man, if I know that hockey is not real big in the south unless we're on it, like in Florida. But if you're in the area, you should definitely check them out.
Ryan Lemond
Ryan, Drew, Shannon Cash. We write back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. TJ Smith, personal injury attorney. Call tj. He'll make him pay.
Shannon Dawson
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Ryan Lemond
So this is the Creek. Yeah, Creekers from Leslie County.
Drew Franklin
Listen that.
Ryan Lemond
It's a shame the podcast letters won't be able to hear it because this is really good.
Drew Franklin
I mean, you have to tap your foot.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. So they, They've been around for a while. Are they kind of new on the scene?
Cash Daniel
Kind of new on the scene? A little bit. I'm not sure, you know, I'm not sure how long they've been playing together, but I know that like, like Drew said, they've been blown up on TikTok recently and so shout out to Hiding Kentucky.
Drew Franklin
I'd say they've been a regular in my house for about six months. I don't know their backstory, but when Rail Bird put out the lineup, they're on it. They're. They're in the small font on Sunday, but I was just excited about them as Childers. They got them on the same day.
Ryan Lemond
Coming. Real Bird.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. This in June.
Ryan Lemond
Nice.
Drew Franklin
Big fan of the Creekers. Still learning about them, but that's the one I like the best, even though it's called Tennessee.
Ryan Lemond
Shannon, who's this? Oh, you're doing the sponsorship. Who's this segment sponsored by?
Drew Franklin
Well, you're have to hand me your phone or email me because I don't know.
Ryan Lemond
Shannon, you got one handed in.
Cash Daniel
Yeah.
Shannon Dawson
I like how we were prepared for this. I've got some exciting news from our friends at Cornbread Hemp. They just opened up a brand new retail store right behind their production facility in Louisville, Kentucky. And you can take a tour and see firsthand how they make their products. Meet the folks behind the scenes and purchase your favorite seltzers, sleep gummies, oils and more. And if you've never seen how their infused gummies are made, it's a must see. Now, if you're close enough to visit the facility, you can buy products in person or you can always go online to cornbread hemp.com and for KSR listeners, you can get 20% off your first order with promo code KSR. Again, that's code KSR. 20% off your first order, cornbread hemp.com. this is the good life. Cornbread Hemp.
Ryan Lemond
All right, here's another text from the AV Glass text machine. Does Cash wrestle under his name or an alias? And where can we find a schedule of his upcoming events? No.
Cash Daniel
So I'm. I'm wrestling as Cash Daniel. Nice. Yep. And like I said that we don't have a. We don't have a schedule yet of when I'll be back, but when I am back, you know, you can catch us every Thursday at Hot Point Davis arena there in Louisville. I believe it's off Shepherdsville Road. Legendary promotion, you know, had guys like John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Batista, Randy Orton, CM Punk. The list goes on and on. And my picture is going to be hanging above them all.
Drew Franklin
Oh, at the top, I think we're Shannon the dude's picture.
Shannon Dawson
No, it's definitely in there.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, it's like a big mirror in the men's room.
Cash Daniel
It's a mirror somewhere.
Shannon Dawson
Yeah, like I got a big painting of me back there.
Ryan Lemond
Okay. I want to get back in the weeds of football a little bit. I got a question for you. I know you can understand. You can help me understand. You're a defensive guy. We had this awesome defensive game against Texas. Hold them to 16 points. Tennessee Lights us up. And then we had this awesome defensive game last week against Auburn. What happened in the Tennessee and why you've had these two great defensive games sandwiched around a bad defensive performance? What's the answer?
Cash Daniel
Well, I think when you look at the Tennessee game, you know, correct me if I'm wrong. But going into that game, they were the number one offense in the nation, really able to move the ball vertically down the field. You know, I think this quarterback that they have, you know, compared to last year with Nico, just by watching it, you know, I think he's able to really be able to push the ball vertically downfield better than what Nico could. You know, at the end of the day, I think it just comes to a matchup thing that we had a couple busted coverages. So communication is very key out there of understanding, you know, what your job is, you know, who you're working with, who you're not working with, being able to communicate with the defensive line, you know, making sure that they're in the right spots, in the right gaps and doing, you know, their job correctly. So there's so many different things that go into that, but I would say overall communication. Every other defensive guy that knows this will tell you that communication is the number one factor out there for you guys, whether it be verbally, whether it be non verbally, you know, for Coach White used to tell us all the time, you know, if, if cover three comes in, like from the, from the sideline and everybody understands it, or let's say Cover 3 comes in but you see the wrong signal and you call cover four. As long as everybody's on the same page, you'll survive the down. There's no such thing as a magical defensive play call because at the end of the day, you know, you're just adjusting off of what the offense does. You're reading your key from your position and understanding, okay, now if he does X, Y or Z, I have to do X, Y or Z compared to, you know, what he does on the offensive side of the ball. So, you know, I think overall, you know, maybe the Tennessee game was just one of those bad communication games and you have those. And so I think moving forward, knowing Brad White and his defense and his staff and the way that they communicate with the players and really understand of, you know, what your job is, play in and play out. You know, I think that, you know, what we saw last week, you know, was a great defensive performance down there in Auburn, and so we can build that momentum back, you know, really being that stonewall defense that, you know, Kentucky is really known for.
Drew Franklin
Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't you on the team when Brad White came in as a linebacker coach? When he got there, did you see, like, all right, this guy could be, you know, long standing SEC defensive coordinator? Was it that type of Thing because he came in as a position coach from the NFL if I'm not mistaken.
Cash Daniel
Yep, came from the Colts. So we had Madhouse as our defensive coordinator. Matt House actually was the one who actually taught me how to play linebacker and how to, and how to effectively play defensive football. But when Coach White came in, not. Not only did I think that he could be a long standing D coordinator, sec, I think Brad White could be a DC in the NFL. That's just how smart this guy is. I mean, if you're able to go into a meeting room with him and listen to him break down fake film and saying this works here because of this and why this doesn't work here, it's, it's a work of art. I mean I, I used to be mesmerized by like how in the hell did he think of that, you know, or what did he see? You know, and so, you know, that really trickled down to the players aspect and so really able to hone in on. There's a difference between watching film and understanding what you're watching on the film, if that makes sense. So you're seeing down in distance, you're seeing the position of the ball, where it's at on the field, how much time's left, the personnel, where the running backs lined up at, where the tight ends lined up at, if there's a split off into the boundary, you know, and you're kind of playing process of elimination out there. And so that's what really helped the game slow down for me was that being able to go out there, look at the formation, understand the down and distance, where the sticks are, what situation that they're in. You know, maybe they just came off a big penalty, maybe they just got backed up off of a, off of a holding call or something like that. So there's so many different things you need to watch on film to be able to understand. Like, okay, I've seen this before. It helps me slow down and makes me allow. Allows me to play a lot faster and more confidently as well.
Drew Franklin
So I just know from the media standpoint of Brad White, you know, we interview all the coaches and on the offensive end there's been quite the carousel. But he, even in cross most sports in Lexington, just when he's answering questions, it's probably the level of detail you are getting. You know, it's not a secret. You can ask questions in media, you're getting a general answer. They don't want to be there. We get it, we know how it works. But Brad White has Always been good about just explaining things and, you know, he's not perfect. He has his flaws. But I've always enjoyed just hearing from him on our end because we're not allowed in the film room, etc. So just in our instances with Brad White, I like how he explains his defense. Even, you know, some people don't love that he's not blitzing as much. You can nitpick stuff like that. But I mean, the guy knows ball and knows how to explain it. And as a media person, I, I.
Cash Daniel
Enjoy hearing from him.
Ryan Lemond
859-280-2287. Who's our next caller?
Drew Franklin
Shannon.
Shannon Dawson
Let's go to Dan.
Ryan Lemond
Dan, you're only Cash. Daniel. Go ahead, Dan.
Caller
Hey, how you doing, Cash? This is doing good. I'm calling you from Sydney, Australia. It's 3:30 or 3:40 here and it's Friday. I'm still on Eastern Standard Time.
Cash Daniel
We appreciate you calling in, brother.
Caller
You cat?
Cash Daniel
Yeah.
Caller
My question for you is next year, what, starting from number one, what, what positions are we going to have to recruit starting, you think next year? Because I think this team is underrated. I think this team has a lot of coherence together. These guys are tight. I think that's going to go a long ways and, and I still think that we could have a 500 season. I want to keep Stoops here. So what positions do we need to work on next year?
Cash Daniel
Dan, thanks for calling in, bro. You know, I'm not on the recruiting trail, so I really, you know, really couldn't pinpoint it for you. But I think the first thing that needs to happen is we got to keep Cutter Bowley in Lexington.
Ryan Lemond
I agree with that.
Cash Daniel
That's the number one, the number one priority is keeping him here, you know, young, talented, athletic kid who understands, you know, what it means to play for Kentucky and have that fire about him to put on for his home state. I think that's very vital of keeping him here. Obviously, you know, we can, you know, we can, you know, beef up the offensive line a little bit. I think there's nothing wrong with ever, you know, adding more to the trenches than what you have. And then, you know, this is why, you know, everybody gets paid the way that they do to go out there and find these players. But, you know, it's, it's so different nowadays and how recruiting is and, you know, compared to when I was there, which comparing it to how it was then, now it feels like it was like 20 years ago. That's how big of a jump it Feels like it's been. So. I mean, the way that I understand the recruiting now is it's. It's all about, you know, it's not about going somewhere that'll set you up for the NFL. You know, I mean, I'm trying not to say the know, stupid wrong thing here, but, you know, at the end of the day, it seems like most kids nowadays are going where the money is, you know, and that's just the reality of college athletics at this point. But at the end of the day, you know, you got guys in position to, you know, make things happen and get kids here that understand that this is the type of ball that we play. This is the type of standard that we have. And so no matter how much we're paying you, we expect you to live up to that standard.
Ryan Lemond
On the Envision glass tape machine. I named my son after Cash.
Caller
Oh.
Ryan Lemond
Met him in Austin city to tell him really enjoy when he's on. And that goes along with what I was gonna say. You missed the nil era. You could have become a very rich man during the NIL era. If it was around when you played all of eastern Kentucky, would you have been advertising everything?
Cash Daniel
Yeah, I'd be fishing somewhere on a boat right now if I'd had that, that's for sure. But, you know, at the end of.
Ryan Lemond
The day, you would have had a fishing endorsement.
Cash Daniel
I'd like to think I would have. Oh, yeah, maybe. Maybe a marina would have sponsored me. Give me a boat. I don't know.
Ryan Lemond
Car dealerships, all eastern Kentucky, every one of them.
Cash Daniel
If they wanted to wrap that thing, we'll wrap it. I don't care. Put your logo right there. We'll go fish tournaments.
Ryan Lemond
We'll.
Cash Daniel
We'll go do, you know, meet and greets at the Bass pro shops or do whatever you want. That's fine with me as long as I get to fish for a living.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, there's a few guys who just missed that window. You're always in the conversation. I've talked about this with Benny. Benny just missed it. There's some basketball guys that would have done well. Just. Just. Of course, just unfortunate how the calendar landed and a lot of guys took advantage of the chaos the last couple years. That won't be the case forever. Some guys just got stupid. Rich being having good timing.
Ryan Lemond
We got one more segment to go. So we'll take our final segment, come back and wrap it up with cash. Daniel. But we want to hear from you. 859-280-2287. That's 859280 cats Ryan, Drew and Shannon here with Cash Daniel. We'll be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.

Ryan Lemond

Cash Daniel
Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
Not the Creekers.
Shannon Dawson
We already heard from the Creekers.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. Woke up this morning.
Ryan Lemond
Who's this segment sponsored by? Drew Singer. Drew over there.
Drew Franklin
It is sponsored by our friends at Shady Race. Thank you for texting me the script. I had to scroll past all these pictures of tables. So let's look at it. You have a lot of tables you're going through. You also need to stop overpaying for sunglasses when you go through a table. Ryan Lemon, are you tired of buying expensive sunglasses only to lose them, Break them like a table or worse. You never even wear them because you don't want them to get dirty. You need Shady Rays. Shady Rays offers the best protection in the industry with lost and broken replacements. So take it. Take on your next adventure with the team that has your back. That Shady Rays. Back to you, Ryan.
Ryan Lemond
Limit and we are at bespoken spirits tomorrow. Shannon that's over at Greyline Station. You guys will be doing the pre show there, and then Matt will be back to do KSR right after you guys are done.
Shannon Dawson
It is 101 West Loudon Avenue. That's the address.
Ryan Lemond
It's awesome. We've been there a couple times that we have a good crowd there, so we enjoy it. One more text from the aviation Glass text machine. What's Cash's Go to karaoke song?
Cash Daniel
Oh, that's a good one.
Drew Franklin
I've seen you on stage at Austin City a time or two. I'll call you out. There's.
Cash Daniel
There's a. I mean, I. You know, sometimes you get some. That little liquid courage or you can, you know, the vocals come out.
Drew Franklin
It's a good place to do it.
Cash Daniel
Yeah. Really. It all depends on what I'm feeling that night. You know, sometimes we'll do a little Garth Brooks Friends and little Play Places, maybe a little bit of Riley Green, maybe some Tyler Childers. You just never know.
Ryan Lemond
Never know what's going to come out.
Cash Daniel
No, you never know.
Drew Franklin
What's the Ron Lemon karaoke song?
Ryan Lemond
Oh, Wagon Wheel. Darius Rucker. I sing it with Alice Bluegown. Get on stage with those guys and sing it. So earlier in the show, we were talking about Matt Drew's Madisonville Maroons. I looked up your Paintsville Tigers, 5 and 5 this year, and they play at Williamsburg in the first round of the playoffs. What do you think about your Tigers?
Cash Daniel
Man, It's. I'm not really kept up with them, you know, and that's on me. I really should be a better alumnus and keep up with what's going on. But, you know, it's, you know, Paintsville football has always been something that, you know, I hold close to myself and all my buddies. We still talk about, you know, the Friday Night Lights that we got to spend with each other. So, you know, hopefully those guys, you know, really take advantage of what they have with them and playing for your hometown and, you know, going out there and, you know, and making a name for yourself and putting yourself in a good position to go far in the playoffs. So I wish nothing but the Tigers the best. I believe Coach Melvin there is the head coach now. So good luck to Coach Melvin and all those guys and, you know, go get the win down there in Williamsburg.
Drew Franklin
People like you that find success at the next level and having a great college career, you always hear them talk about still those high school days, that's when it was the best.
Cash Daniel
That's the greatest. I mean, that's because that's what the guys you grew up with. Yeah, I mean, the guys that, you know, you knew from grade school all the way up until now, you know, you played Little League together, you played, you know, junior pro basketball, flag football, and all that good stuff together. So it's. It's a tie, it's a bonding kind of thing. And so, you know, being able to go out there, especially playing for a small, you know, hometown that you have, you know, there's nothing better. And so, like I said, me and my buddies, you know, whenever we get a chance to get together, there's always some sort of conversation of, you know, what the Friday Night Lights was. I mean, you can even ask. There's been, you know, NFL players talk about, they've played in, you know, Super Bowls, they've played in Pro Bowls, but there's nothing like playing in front of your home crowd on a Friday night.
Drew Franklin
So what was that famous interview you did? Did you punch in a two point conversion and shout out your offensive line or something? I remember that going viral.
Cash Daniel
Yeah, that. The big boys up front, I mean, if it wasn't for them, I wouldn't have had the drive to get in the end zone. So big shout to the guys up front.
Drew Franklin
That was big in your recruitment.
Ryan Lemond
That's right. That was everybody's introduction to Cash. Daniel, was that interview he did after a high school game after you hit a two point conversion?
Cash Daniel
Yeah, they didn't give me time to calm down. They grabbed me right after. You know, we were riding pretty high. So I did get a chance to calm down and really collect myself then. So Paintsville, I think that was the.
Drew Franklin
First moment people were like, is this guy gonna be a wrestler? Because you kind of had a little bit of a promo in there.
Cash Daniel
Absolutely. Like, is this guy insane? Who is this cat?
Ryan Lemond
Paintsville is one of those cities that has produced a lot of great athletes. Yeah, I'm trying to think on football. You and Joey Couch, basketball. John Pelfrey, J.R. vanhus, baseball. Johnny LeMaster played in the big leagues forever. I mean, these guys got a little wealth of athletic talent coming out of that little town.
Cash Daniel
Yeah, absolutely. I mean, it's like I, like you said, very small. You know, a lot of towns in East Kentucky are very isolated. You know, there's not a lot there, you know, so what we find pride in, you know, obviously, you know, sports being an outlet for us, you know, and giving us an opportunity to, you know, branch out in our lives and, you know, be able to, you know, make it bigger than you know where we're at currently, you know, so, you know, athletics has always been a big part of my life and so many other people's lives. Like you've said back in painful. So, yeah. Been a lot of great athletes come through there, for sure.
Drew Franklin
Brian, we're getting closer to the show. I don't want to still. I know you got a list, but people wanted me to ask if you've paid any more YouTube streamers since the last time we heard from you yesterday.
Ryan Lemond
I didn't watch any streaming last night, so, no. No payment. But tomorrow night, if I'm sitting there watching the UK game, and I dial up that guy's stream and he's got his Cash app going there, I'm gonna maybe send him a couple more. I feel like it's like a tip.
Drew Franklin
We found out yesterday he's been watching Internet streams that are illegal, but he's not just watching them. He Cash apps the person, put it on so they'll say his name.
Cash Daniel
Who's your favorite streamer?
Ryan Lemond
Right. Well, I don't know. I haven't ever done it till last night during the Kentucky basketball game. But this guy was streaming it. He was giving his own little commentary, and he was scrolling his Cash app, and he's Venmo. Like, well, I'll give him some money. Because every time you gave me money, he'd shout out the person's name. You know, hey, Cash, thanks for the donation. Hey, Drew. Appreciate that. Hey, Ryan. I got you, buddy. I wanted to hear that. So I gave him some money, and I probably will Friday night, tomorrow night also.
Drew Franklin
This is why we love Ryan Cash. He's currently hosting a radio show that God knows how many people are listening to. But the satisfaction he got from a teenager on YouTube saying, thank you, Ryan. It's just more.
Ryan Lemond
Look at him.
Drew Franklin
He's so happy that this kid said thank you.
Cash Daniel
He's just paving it forward, man.
Ryan Lemond
That's right. He's doing me a service. He's doing me a favor. So morning. He. If he was giving me my dinner as a server, I'm gonna tip him. He's giving me the game. I'm gonna tip him.
Drew Franklin
I almost texted you yesterday. Alan Cutler said my name and his monologue. Do I owe him money? Do you have Allen Cutler's Cash app? Do I. Is this what we do? We just pay people who say our names?
Ryan Lemond
Well, yes. Have they say it on the streaming services? You do, for sure.
Drew Franklin
Well, I'm excited to see what you tip tomorrow night.
Ryan Lemond
Appreciate you joining us, man. We haven't had a chance to catch up with you for a while, but really proud of what you've done with your wrestling career. Career. Please keep us posted on your next big event so we can kind of help promote it.
Drew Franklin
Oh, it's Saturday. We'll see him Saturday, right?
Ryan Lemond
Oh, yeah. You'll be here Saturday throwing me through the table?
Cash Daniel
Yeah, we got a big one coming up, man, but yeah, thank you, guys.
Ryan Lemond
If something else comes up, you can't make it. That's okay.
Cash Daniel
Okay, I got you. I'll see if my schedule. Allow me to pencil that in.
Ryan Lemond
But big thanks to Cash Daniels. We'll be at Bespoken Spirits tomorrow down at Grayline station. We'll see you then. For Ryan, for Drew, for Shannon. Thank you, Cash. Appreciate you.
Cash Daniel
Thank you, guys.
Ryan Lemond
This has been Kentucky sports Radio.
Shannon Dawson
We still got a minute to go here.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, I was going to say there's not any music playing or anything.
Ryan Lemond
I was hearing music. Did you not hear music?
Drew Franklin
No. I was like, is he wrapping this up?
Shannon Dawson
We still got a minute to go, right?
Cash Daniel
Yeah, you can.
Drew Franklin
Okay, now you can think Cash. And he can finish that thought.
Ryan Lemond
Okay, let's do it again. Big thanks to you, Cash, man. We're really proud of you. Everything. You're done with your wrestling career. Keep up the good work. Just let us know your big next big events. We can help promote it.
Cash Daniel
Yeah, absolutely. You should be here at KS Bar on Saturday. You see Ryan Lemon go through his second table.
Ryan Lemond
Do you hear music now? No, I thought I heard it again. I'm hearing something.
Shannon Dawson
Ryan, are you okay?
Drew Franklin
Good. You good? There's no music playing right now, but.
Ryan Lemond
You are going to throw me to a table to help relive what we did in 2023.
Cash Daniel
23.
Drew Franklin
It's been so long. That's sad.
Ryan Lemond
That was the last UK home.
Drew Franklin
There it is.
Shannon Dawson
Music now.
Ryan Lemond
It's Florida. We're gonna do it again. Now. I hear the music.
