It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live at the Infinity Rooftop on top of Marriott City Center. You can come to Infinity Rooftop for an elevated lunch and dinner. Elevated? I think they mean elevate. It's like a double entradre. It's both elevated in the sky but also elevated in your taste. That's a good combination, right?
Drew Franklin
They're bringing over espresso martinis.
Shannon
They made me an old fashioned.
Matt Jones
That is quite an espresso. Mark.
Shannon
Are you.
Drew Franklin
You're like, I'm not really a martini guy. I'm more of an old fashioned guy.
Matt Jones
But say you're like girl with your experience.
Drew Franklin
Billy, get over here. This is more your style. This looks like it's too pretty to drink, though. It's got the whipped cream on top and everything there.
Matt Jones
It really is. And then you got old fashions. They made them for you there. You can come here, get your lunch, your dinner, also your holiday parties here, corporate meetings. That's all here at the downtown Marriott center and here at Infinity Bar restaurant. I made a mistake there. I said Tom Wopat. That was Luke Duke from the top from the Dukes of Hat.
Ryan Lemond
Oh, close.
Matt Jones
He is not in the show. It is, it's. It's Tom Wamb scans from succession.
Shannon
Huh?
Matt Jones
Kind of like wo.
Ryan Lemond
Pat.
Matt Jones
He's in there. And then the. You said this yesterday, Drew. The main character, James Garfield is a Kentucky Michael Shannon Lexingtonian who's from Lexington. He plays the main guy. They're kind of the two main characters in the show.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. Big Michael Shannon fan. Hadn't seen him in things in a while. So I mentioned I turned like this on for about 15 minutes last night. Loved what I saw. I just fell asleep.
Matt Jones
Because you would like. One of the big scenes is at the Republican convention. You could be like, I was there.
Ryan Lemond
Was Kid Rock there?
Matt Jones
Kid Rock was not there. This was, this was in like I think the late 1800s. So I don't think Kid Rock was there yet.
Shannon
That was really one of the craziest events I've ever been to. That Republican convention. We went up there in Cleveland. It was Insane.
Matt Jones
Insane.
Shannon
Well, what was it? Ray Richardson. We did our radio show, and Ray.
Matt Jones
Richardson got to meet him.
Ryan Lemond
And I can't unsee Matt Bevin dancing to Kid Rock. That's burned in my brain.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I mean, Matt Bevin dancing, I.
Ryan Lemond
Think he was wearing all denim.
Matt Jones
He was wearing all denim. Our former governor, denim shirt, denim jeans. And he was standing in the back, and he started doing a dance like Elaine from Seinfeld to ball with a ball to Kid Rock. It was pretty funny. And then he saw us walk watching him, and he was a little embarrassed, I think, at that point.
Drew Franklin
Is that also where we got that great picture of him just staring a hole through you? Was that at the same point?
Shannon
Oh, yes.
Matt Jones
That's one of my favorite pictures of all time. It's Kentucky is about to do the thing. You're like, great state of Kentucky, home of horse racing. Bourbon gives all of its votes to. And I think at the time, it was Donald Trump. And they were about to do it, and it was Matt Bevin going to say it, but behind him was Mitch McConnell. And all of them are just staring a hole, right? And there's Drew right next to him getting strays waving.
Ryan Lemond
I tried to photobomb all 50 states, and showtime did a documentary. And if you go back and watch it, I am all over it. I'm with Oregon, Kentucky, New York. I tried to get in everyone I could.
Matt Jones
You know, there's that picture of the Washington delegation, and all of us are in our tree hats.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, that was on the COVID of, I want to say the New York Day.
Matt Jones
We were on the COVID with. With our Washington tree hats. That was ridiculous that we got.
Shannon
We got to talk to D. Dan Rather. Right. We got to talk to Lester Holt.
Matt Jones
The guy he was most excited about was the guy from the Bachelor and Bumpy.
Ryan Lemond
Those two. You introduced me to Tucker Carlson. I had no idea who he was at the time.
Matt Jones
Picture of me and Tucker Carlson where it looks like we're best friends, and I'm. I. I'm hiding that one.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. You guys are pretty much the same person, right?
Matt Jones
Shut up. 280, 2287. All right, couple things that are not, not, not. Okay, that's enough of all this.
Drew Franklin
Drinks after drinks, rolling in.
Matt Jones
Stop with the drinks. Okay, George Double fist. I'm gonna lose these guys for forever.
Shannon
All right.
Matt Jones
Did you see, Shannon, the story about Storage Wars?
Drew Franklin
No, I don't know about this.
Matt Jones
Have you all seen this? So I've never seen Storage wars, but I get the premise of Storage wars is you go to like, somebody has abandoned their storage place and you can. You can bid on it or something. Then you see what's in it.
Shannon
Right, right.
Matt Jones
All right, so this guy, one of the co hosts of Storage wars, he buys a storage unit in New Jersey for $500. Okay, storage, it's been abandoned. He buys it for $500. Then they open it up, and in it, like in a little compartment in the back, is a bag that has seven and a half million dollars in cash.
Drew Franklin
That's a good return on investment.
Shannon
My goodness.
Matt Jones
Seven and a half million dollars in cash. So, I mean, he's excited. He takes the cash and he's like, yes, I'm rich now. I have seven and a half million dollars. He gets a phone call a week later from a lawyer who says, I represent the interest of an individual. You bought our storage unit and we would want you to sell all of its components. And he was like, well, no, not gonna do that. The guy goes, yes, you are. We'll give you $500,000 for it. He says, no. They come back, they offer $1.2 million for what's in it. He ends up selling it. So he sells this. What's in it, which includes seven and a half million dollars of cash for $1.2 million. Now there's a conversations about was that a good decision or not? I guess he did an interview where he said, essentially, I was a little uneasy about the fact that there was seven and a half million dollars of cash. Don't know where the money came from. Don't know if it would end up getting, you know, confiscated by the government. If it's. If it's whatever. I felt like 1.2 million in actual regular money was a safer bet. What would you do in that circumstance? Would you. Would you ride it out with the 7/2 million? Have this guy threatened to sue you because you'd have. Or potentially somebody comes and kills you for that money. Who knows what would you do? Or sell it for the one.
Drew Franklin
You probably know which way I'm leaning because of the buyout discussions that we've had with Mark Stews. But If I pay 500 and I get 7.8 million inside of that storage unit, I'm gonna go all in. I'm gonna ride it out, because that was the deal.
Matt Jones
Wouldn't you be worried? Wouldn't you be looking over your back to see if somebody's coming for you?
Drew Franklin
No, I got $7.8 million. I'm gonna pay for bodyguards.
Matt Jones
What if they find out it's stolen? And then at some point, the government comes and takes it from you.
Drew Franklin
Well, I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
Podcast Host/Announcer
Okay.
Drew Franklin
But I'm gonna go all in.
Matt Jones
All right. What about you?
Ryan Lemond
I'm taking a deal. I'd probably go a little higher than 1.2, though. Like you said, I don't want the stress. If these are shady characters, I don't want to get caught up in that. I'm in for 500 and I get a couple million. Never going to complain about that whatsoever. So I would come to an agreement, but I would try to get a little more.
Shannon
My math is not the greatest.
Matt Jones
You would have sold it for a hundred thousand.
Shannon
Seven and a half million is a lot more than 1.2 million. I'm taking it and I'm moving to Mexico and I'm putting some bank overseas and they're never going to find me or see me again. I'm living a happy life. Give me the money.
Drew Franklin
You're going down to Mexico where the cartel is.
Matt Jones
That's. First of all, that's a hor. A lot of things you just said were horrible. Number one, you're going to Mexico where there's a decent chance that's where that money. Right.
Ryan Lemond
How are you getting that cash into Mexico?
Matt Jones
Number two. Exactly. Are you think you're going to carry that now? Carry on to Mexico? You don't think they'll look at you and go, what's that leather bag with $7.5 million?
Drew Franklin
Allegiant Airline doesn't let you put that on.
Matt Jones
I've seen those shirts. You're gonna put it in a bank with a country that we have extradition rules with to where if the Americans come, they can take it from you. So you. You've not made one smart decision in.
Ryan Lemond
That and you're abandoning your whole life to hide.
Matt Jones
Yes. And also you're going to a place where they actually have more access to you than if you were in America, if that was happened to be where it was looking.
Shannon
Listen, I've seen. I've seen those shows where they wrap the money in mustard and they put it in pickle juice and wrap it with aluminum foil. Yeah. And I'm gonna go to the Brian. I'm gonna buy a resort in Cancun and I'm gonna live out the rest of my life. Come on down and see me in Cancun, baby.
Matt Jones
I don't think so. You're actually gonna advertise that you're there?
Shannon
Sure, why not?
Drew Franklin
And then you got the money From a storage unit.
Ryan Lemond
How nice is your seven million dollar resort gonna be? And you have nothing left.
Matt Jones
That's the kind of resort he goes to.
Drew Franklin
I wonder though, if you got that kind of money, why did you abandon it? Why couldn't you just pay your mother?
Matt Jones
Okay, if we were to guess.
Drew Franklin
Ye.
Matt Jones
Yeah, right. It was drug money.
Ryan Lemond
People get arrested.
Matt Jones
Can't go back and get it. That's, that's, to me, that's the most likely scenario. Put seven and a half million dollars, got arrested for whatever reason, can't go and get it. He can't call somebody and say, go get my seven and a half million dollars. And it's sitting there. And then when it gets gone, he gets a notice and somebody's like, oh no, you picked it. I mean, that's the most, like it's either Italian, like mafia money.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
But the More likely scenario, 7/2 million dollars in cash. It's drug money. That's what it is.
Drew Franklin
Then he's got to hire somebody from jail to, to track you down.
Matt Jones
So I feel like he could do it.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, I like my chances. I got a head start.
Matt Jones
So you're staking it. Ryan has already gotten it taken back from him at this point. Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
I'm not adding stress to my life when I can just have $2 million and not have to worry about it.
Matt Jones
Yeah, that. I think that's a mistake now. Next thing right now, in the LPGA professional golf tournament, they get. So every tournament gets sponsors exemptions where they're able to invite a couple of people to play in their tournament. This LPGN tournament in Florida invited Donald Trump's granddaughter. Okay. Donald Trump's granddaughter. If you've, if you've not seen her, she's like an 18, 19 year old golfer. She's, she's good, but she's not great. But she's Donald Trump's granddaughter. She's attractive. I want to say maybe. Is it her, her mom's dating Tiger woods or something. Maybe her mom's dating Tiger Woods. They put her in the tournament. She is in dead last. And she shot like 25 over a par. Their tournament's getting a lot of criticism for having her in. Do you think it was a bit. It's because there were people going, you could have given that to somebody who actually could have had a shot to win. What do you make of that?
Drew Franklin
Well, I'd have to see like how good she was before. Maybe it was just she was good.
Matt Jones
But like not well, she, if she was going to come in last, like it was like she was definitely going to come in last.
Drew Franklin
Well, look, somebody's got to come in last. And you might as well make it Trump's grand granddaughter, because now we're talking about it and giving it more exposure. So I think it was actually a good decision.
Matt Jones
All right. What about you?
Ryan Lemond
Probably not. And it's the whole taking a spot from someone else. You know, we have friends that tried to make it in the Tour, and anytime there's a sponsors exemption and some celebrity comes in, that actually hurts an up and coming golfer. So getting a little golf in the golf weeds there. But I don't like the, here, take someone else's spot because your grandpa is so and so.
Matt Jones
What about you?
Shannon
I really don't care. I'm sitting on the beach.
Drew Franklin
I'm sitting on a beach drinking a.
Shannon
Margarita with my seven and a half million dollars.
Matt Jones
Is that gonna be your answer to everything?
Shannon
But really, when will we ever talk about the LPGA Tour?
Matt Jones
Probably never. Yeah, probably never.
Shannon
So this at least draws some attention to the Tour and to the event that nobody would have even known was going on if they had invited her.
Ryan Lemond
But who won the event? Exactly. We're talking about someone shooting 25.
Shannon
We lost.
Drew Franklin
We're talking about the loser of the event.
Ryan Lemond
We can't name the event, where it was, who was in it. We just know someone came in last because they can't play.
Drew Franklin
You would think that she would have learned a thing or two from her granddad about cheating at golf. Maybe, you know, not come in last.
Matt Jones
True. I'm going to surprise you here. I think it's perfectly, totally understandable because nobody cares about the LPGA Tour. No offense to the lpga. I mean. I mean, nobody does. You're exactly right. We're talking about it. But the other thing is they might have sold some tickets. Maybe you get lucky and Tiger woods comes. Or if Donald Trump comes, he. I don't think he did, but, like, so I get it. I don't. I mean, if you're against this, don't give out sponsors exemptions.
Shannon
There you go.
Matt Jones
But when you give out sponsors exemptions, they're going to use it for something like this. It actually, oddly, doesn't both.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. Using it as a way to possibly promote the turn, what you're doing. So I think it makes perfect sense.
Matt Jones
I mean, I think sometimes if a sport struggle. Remember when Master P played in like the G League or something? Yeah, yeah. I mean, like, I understand doing that. Who's up next?
Shannon
Got Terry.
Matt Jones
Up next, Terry. Go ahead, Terry.
Caller/Listener
Okay. Okay, Matt, you referenced the Purdue game, the exhibition game. Who didn't play in that game for us?
Matt Jones
Well, Jalen Lowe and Aberdeen.
Caller/Listener
That's right.
Matt Jones
Well, Aberdeen did play. Low didn't play.
Caller/Listener
Aberdeen playing. So I think they can overcome. Here's what bothers me about. If this is a long term deal, they're going to really now be very, very, very cautious with Quaintance. And he may not play because Low got hurt. He tried to come back, he got hurt. He's out for the year. Jaden quite as a lottery pick. I'm just, I'm just worried that now we're going to lose them both and I don't know that we can overcome both of them. Maybe.
Matt Jones
Yeah, it's a fair question. It's an interesting thought. I hadn't thought about that connection, but that's a possibility. It would be, it would be such a sad state of Kentucky luck if you took the two guys that probably have the most talent on the team and then neither one of them plays like the rest of you. Like that would. That would be the most but unlucky situation. Then take about what happened last year. You know, Butler gets hurt, Chris gets hurt. Robinson was hurt for some of the year.
Ryan Lemond
It's just Andrew Carr missed a long stretch.
Matt Jones
I mean that would just. You talk about bad luck on some.
Shannon
Level, you know, you know, I thought about that, but Terry said. But they may do take that approach now to be list a little more cautious with Jaden Quatance and make sure he's 100% ready to come back for the try to push him on the floor.
Matt Jones
I mean, we may not know the answer to this until Mark Pope's pregame interview with Tom Leach today, or maybe not even until the postgame press conference. So we'll see. I mean, I, I feel like this is a little worse than the first one was, but we'll see if it ends up being season ending. We're going to take a break and be right back. We are here at Infinity Rooftop Bar. This is ksr.

Sabotaging logging equipment in the woods. The timber industry, I mean, it was the number one industry in the area. But more than it was the culture, it was, it was the way of life.

Every Wednesday on the Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live at the Infinity Rooftop. They just brought us some food. It is awesome. We'll talk about that in a second. But first, Cornbread Hemp. Just real quick, you know, if you've listened to me, that they inserted into the government bill opening up the government a ban on full spectrum hemp products. That's a big boo. You now have one year before it goes into effect. So you. It can still be reversed, even though McConnell and a lot of the senators entered it in. Go talk to your representative. Learn more@cornbreadhem.com it goes into effect one year from when they pass the bill, so hopefully there's still time to get it reversed. And I also just personally want to give a shout out to Taran Paul for his work on that, which you will not hear me say a lot, but on this issue, I certainly can do. And Shannon, I'm having to purchase my trying to figure out if I can get 30 years worth of sleep product.
Drew Franklin
I know, right? Me and you both, like, I'm stocking up right now. Just in case.
Matt Jones
Now. Just in case. All right, couple things here. First of all, did you have you seen the woman at Boise State, plays on the Boise State volleyball team and she's a Shannon, a goth chick.
Drew Franklin
Oh, okay.
Matt Jones
Actually, I don't know if they like the word chick. Goth woman.
Podcast Host/Announcer
Yes.
Matt Jones
And she dresses. She plays volleyball for Boise State in goth paint.
Drew Franklin
She's got white paint on her face.
Matt Jones
She paints her face like a goth singer and plays in it. And like now she's getting nil deals from like goth clothing brands and stuff because she's actually a pretty good player. She starts for them and and is now doing goth ads because she plays in all goth paint. What do you think about that.
Podcast Host/Announcer
How.
Matt Jones
How would UK react if one of our national championship volleyball players had goth paint on?
Drew Franklin
Now you're thinking exactly what I'm thinking. Like imagine like if Oscar Sheepway back in the day was goth and he came out like wearing goth and like long earrings and like eyeliner and the whole deal. Like how it would react.
Matt Jones
I like that you picked Oscar because.
Drew Franklin
He would be like the less likely one of like the players. I can imagine ever doing it.
Shannon
But imagine.
Matt Jones
Great question. If Oscar Sheepway was. What would our. What would our fan base say?
Ryan Lemond
I like that she's doing it. I don't know if Oscar could pull it off, but you got to have your own personal brand in college. In this nil world. She's not at one of the bigger schools you mentioned. She's getting nil deals. There's probably an intimidation factor when she looks across the net.
Matt Jones
I say go for it.
Shannon
So.
Drew Franklin
So we were to come out and dress like Kiss. We could come out and just play.
Shannon
A game like that.
Matt Jones
Yes, you can play.
Drew Franklin
I would think there would be some sort of restriction against.
Ryan Lemond
Have you seen society lately? Do whatever you want.
Matt Jones
ESPN has a story on it. So clearly like today, I mean she's making attention. Tell me real. Speaking of stories, tell the story about the guy at Eastern Illinois we played in his connection.
Ryan Lemond
My guy, Michi White. I had no idea he's as popular as he was until I posted last night. But he's from Louisville, played at Louisville Mail led them over to Rupp back to back years his junior and senior year. Went to JUCO for two seasons because he wasn't getting a lot of offers out of Louisville Mail and ends up at Eastern Illinois. Turns out, huge Kentucky fan. His mom reached out to me, sent me a bunch of pictures. He even has a selfie with Matt at KS Bar. There's pictures of him in the crowd at rup. This isn't like, oh, I had a UK hat when I was little. I liked him. This is a die hard fan. And when I put that out last night, he even replied to me, keep in mind he's in the team hotel as an opponent. And he tweeted I bleed blue. So you know we want Kentucky to have a big game. But Michi White is living a dream even though it's on the other team. So root for him. He's their starting point guard. Just a big Cats fan since he was born and glad his mom shared that last night.
Matt Jones
There's a picture of him cheesing with me at ks.
Shannon
I Mean, he.
Matt Jones
We are like cheesing, like we're the best of friends. I don't remember when we took that.
Ryan Lemond
But I would say look over to our team.
Matt Jones
Yeah, no kidding. Maybe we need him. What I would say is when he comes in the game tonight or if he starts whatever, I hope everybody gives that him a big round of applause. The Kentucky fam getting. I mean, think about his dream here, Ryan. I mean, I can grows up a Kentucky fan now is going to get to play in Rupp arena tonight. We want to kick his tail, but I hope everybody gives him a big round of applause.
Shannon
I remember when he played for Mail in the Sweet sixteen. Drew reminded me they played against Frederick Douglass. And so for him to come back now and get to play against Kentucky, I'm sure it's going to be one of the highlights of his life.
Matt Jones
Yeah. So very, very cool. Who's next? God, Dustin. Up next. Dustin. Go ahead, Dustin.
Caller/Listener
Hey, guys, I got a statement and then got a couple questions and I'll get off and I'll listen to you guys. So I think the statement would be, you know, I feel like we're playing soft, slow and selfish basketball the last couple games. I think when I look into the future, would it be, you know, would it be out of the line to say Braden Hawthorne doesn't redshirt and that he actually can play a little bit this year?
Matt Jones
And I don't think that. I mean, why, like, like he. Right, right. I mean, he doesn't play the position where the guy got hurt. So what's the. What's the point?
Ryan Lemond
I agree.
Caller/Listener
I think the guy that got hurt is. Let's just say he's out for the rest of the year. I mean, then we can switch literally everything, just like we did in the Purdue game. That's why we were so efficient.
Matt Jones
Yeah, we can. But I think the position. I mean, if Cam Williams or Trent Noah does what they're supposed to, I don't think you need Braden Hawthorne. But now if one of those guys got hurt, then maybe that's a different conversation. We'd have to wait and see.
Caller/Listener
And then my last one is, did you see that Darren Peterson is going to set out for the rest of the year and focus his time on the NBA draft. And then do you think Jaden Quaden plays?
Matt Jones
Wait a minute. Is that Peterson thing true? When did that come out? I don't think that's true unless it came out this morning.
Caller/Listener
Pete Noko's posted it on Twitter.
Ryan Lemond
Well, he works for the brand.
Matt Jones
Well, if he says that, then I'll. I haven't seen that yet. If that's true, that's a shame. And Kansas should be pretty upset because they would have been good with him. I'm sitting here looking. I do not see that as a. As a story by Pete Naco. So you might have gotten.
Ryan Lemond
And Pete is the college football insider.
Matt Jones
Yeah, you might. You might have gotten AI'd or scammed on that one, sir.
Caller/Listener
And then. Do you think Jaden plays before?
Matt Jones
I like. He just keeps going.
Podcast Host/Announcer
Yeah.
Matt Jones
You know what? Oh, well, maybe I got scammed. You know what? Let's keep going now. Go ahead. You do.
Ryan Lemond
I see what he saw?
Matt Jones
What?
Ryan Lemond
It's not a real account. It says 274 sports, not 20.
Matt Jones
Yeah, you got to be careful, man. You got to be careful. These people are out here on the streets trying to fool you.
Drew Franklin
What was seven hours a day?
Matt Jones
What was.
Caller/Listener
Do you think. Do you think JQ plays before Christmas?
Matt Jones
And if he does not start before Christmas. If you made me bet, I appreciate the call. I would say. Okay, that's too many questions. That's a lot of questions. I think he plays, but I think it's sometime in January, if you made me guess. But would I be shocked if he came back for court before Christmas? No. And I wouldn't be shocked, honestly, Ryan, if he doesn't play. But I do think he probably plays, and it's sometime early to mid January.
Shannon
Every report you get on him, he's getting closer, getting better, doing this, doing that. I think he's getting to the point where maybe he can get on the court, maybe before Christmas, but why not just be safe? Why not just take him and keep him as long as you out, as long as you can get him ready for conference play?
Matt Jones
I could see a world where. What's the game they have between Christmas and New Year's at Bellarmine? I could see a world where they played that game just like is okay. See what happens.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. They're gonna need them against Bellarmine. Better watch out.
Matt Jones
Bellarmin's, like, awful.
Drew Franklin
They're terrible. They really are. They're struggling with that transition.
Matt Jones
Yeah, they really are, because they can't, because they're not spending any money.
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And so that hurts them. We'll take a break. 859-280-2287. Here at Infinity Rooftop in Lexington, it's Kentucky Sports Radio. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live at Infinity Rooftop. Remember, but book your Thanksgiving brunch buffet on Thanksgiving Day from 11 to 3. You can book it on open table here at Infinity. They got all the turkey, there's stuffings, offerings. It's all here. We've done this in the past. You could do it Thanksgiving brunch buffet on Thanksgiving Day. And they've been giving us a lot of food they've cooked here. The burger that I don't know what this thing was, but it was awesome. What is this?
Shannon
Some called a breakfast sandwich. It is outstanding. Right.
Matt Jones
And desserts. It's all here. And we're going to give away this big gift package in just a minute. We've got some breaking news, Rick. The field of 68. That's the Jeff Goodman thing. And let me say when it comes to Mark Pope news, I think with national reporters, Jeff Goodman is probably going to be as good as you get because they're actually, he's actually close to him. This is their report on Jalen Lowe. Jaylen Lowe will meet with doctors today to reassess his shoulder injury and determine where whether surgery is necessary. According to the source, this morning's imaging and MRI showed no more damage to the shoulder than was sustained before low. His family, the UK staff and medical personnel will review everything today. His status for Friday night's game is up in the air as they evaluate options and they may also seek a second opinion.
Shannon
So I guess that's a little bit of good news. There's nothing worse.
Matt Jones
If they're saying that it's not certain he won't play tonight and that must mean like it's not terrible damage.
Ryan Lemond
It's better than the image showing something new.
Matt Jones
Yeah, that, that's the good news. But it does sound like, I mean they're pro. This is probably what it is. They're pro because I there, there's a dude who wrote me last night talking to me, this is the kind of thing, this can keep happening all year and at some point he's probably going to have to get it fixed. And the question is just how long do you want to wait and do you want to do you want to get through the year to play it or do you want to just say we're going to try to take care of it so we'll see what ends up happening.
Drew Franklin
It's completely unnecessary for him to play tonight. So I think that's out of the question. Like you don't even need them tonight. But yeah, I mean I could see this being a recurring thing that happens and you know, we just have to deal with it on a game to game basis.
Matt Jones
Kind of what happened with Butler Yeah.
Shannon
It seems like we said the exact same thing about Lamont Butler. He just kind of played through it. He may tweak it now and then, may have to sit out a game, rest it getting back going. I don't know. I take that as good news, that report.
Matt Jones
I do, too. Generally speaking. I mean, I don't know if it changes anything, but it's a little bit more confirmation to what I talked about this morning. All right, let's talk football for a second. Tennessee Tech's coach, I thought, had interesting comments, Drew, about this game. Tennessee Tex coach said, essentially, I hate that we're playing this game. It really makes me mad. We have to play this game. I didn't schedule this game. I don't want to play this game.
Podcast Host/Announcer
Game.
Matt Jones
They're playing UT Martin next week for the conference tournament championship. The winner gets to go to the FCS tournament. Winners in, losers out. It's for first place. And he's like, that game matters. This game does not matter. I do not know why we're playing this game. I mean, he was like, I know we're playing it for money, but I hate it. His exact word was, I hate that we're playing this game. I think for people worried that we're going to lose, Drew, that's some pretty good news because it sounds like the coach may be taking the view of I ain't getting my players hurt because I got to play next week.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, sounds like all the motivation is on the Kentucky sideline. And Mark Stoops and their coach has zero motivation for this game. I already thought Kentucky's going to be fine tomorrow. I know their stats are incredible. Their quarterbacks got a million yards and 25 touchdowns. But they are playing schools I've never heard of. I can't tell you what state they're in. Some of them on esports, espn. You can't even click them to go to their team profile because it doesn't exist. So these are the teams they're playing. We are an SEC football team that just beat Florida by 30. If it's not a blowout, then it's bad.
Matt Jones
Look, but it also sounded like to me in his quotes, Ryan, that there he might just not play some of his good guys so he don't get hurt. I mean, he literally was like, I. I've never heard a coach say, I don't want to be playing this game. Have you ever heard that before?
Shannon
Never have I heard that. You know, that's going to rub off on his guys. So, yeah, if he's Looking at next week. Week, he's going to try to tiptoe through this game and get out without any injuries as much as possible.
Drew Franklin
It's a loser's mentality. If you are like the player for that team and you hear your coach say that, like, what motivation do you have to even come out and try? They can just save themselves the gas and stay home. We'll just take the forfeit win.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. Why don't we both just be like, let's take a Saturday off.
Caller/Listener
Yeah.
Shannon
Healthy.
Drew Franklin
That's right.
Matt Jones
You're not gonna hear that very often.
Shannon
No, you're not.
Matt Jones
And it is. It's a fascinating thing to say, but it actually makes me feel better. Right. It makes me feel better that that's going to be. That. That's the mindset. Who's up next? Mike is up next. Mike. Go ahead, Mike.
Caller/Listener
Hey, man.
Matt Jones
I just.
Caller/Listener
I kind of wanted to put a little positive spin on this Jalen Lowe thing. I mean, it's never positive that he got hurt. I think Aberdeen's better to point than we thought, and I think they'll be better defensively, and I really do think JQ will play at some point, and I think we even get better defensively with him. And if I have confidence in Mark Pope fixing anything, it's offensive end. Right. Because we do all consider him better on the offensive end. And he figured it out last year with Amari Williams playing point guard. I think he can figure it out with Aberdeen.
Matt Jones
I actually think you're not totally wrong. I do think our defense will be better without low. I mean, that's true. I mean, our defense will be better because low. Listen, I'm the biggest low fan. He's a bad defender, and he. And you have to hide him if you're going to play him on defense. So our defense will be better. I don't think the team is better because, you know, you're still going to need him to create offense, but you're exactly right. I think you make a good point. If Mark Pope's going to fix anything, he's got a better chance of fixing the offense than the defense. That's his strength.
Caller/Listener
I also think Ole will be a lot better because the way that Low plays. He's very ball dominant.
Matt Jones
He is. He is. But I don't know if I want a way to be ball dominant because I don't know that that's not.
Caller/Listener
He's. He's down in the lane and, you know, constantly is what I'm saying, and, oh, I can't Be kind of be what he was last year because, you know, Lowe's kind of doing that. I'm not saying I want a way to play point guard. I'm just saying.
Matt Jones
Yeah, you know, I mean, you make a valid point. Your. Your point. I appreciate the call. If you. If Drew. If you have Aberdeen at point guard, you can switch every position and you should be able to play better defense. Now. You can do that if you don't screw it up like we did against Louisville. I mean, we. We. Again, not. I don't want to pick on Brandon Garrison, but Brandon Garrison, you go back, there's a Twitter account that took the Garrison defensive plays where they hit four out of five threes. They put that on his NBA highlight reel one day. I mean, it was. It was awful. He's got to be better than that. Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
Last year he had a couple games, I think one against Jeremiah Fears, maybe in both games against them where he was switching, I mean, he. He really looked a little like when Kali Stein would do it. I'm not saying he's college. He did it like twice. And they needed him to make that jump this year and do it more. And what we've seen so far doesn't look like he has that.
Podcast Host/Announcer
That.
Ryan Lemond
Those might have just been games where he was locked in and it looked good. But that doesn't look like it's going to be a consistent Brandon Garrison performance.
Shannon
You know, the big guy that did the best on the. The switches was yellow.
Matt Jones
Oh, no doubt. Yellow, bitch.
Ryan Lemond
Give me more yellow.
Matt Jones
There's a play where Mikhail Brown is sitting there trying to cross yellow Vic over, and dude is sliding his feet, and I'm like, who's that guy?
Shannon
I didn't see that coming.
Matt Jones
I mean, I. He was. He might have been the best dude we had on the team at keeping himself in front of Mikhail Brown, which I did not see coming.
Ryan Lemond
A week and a half ago, a kid called in and said, will you start a second fan club? And I said, the Jelovich fan club's open now. We just created it. He and Chandler, my 2. I want more of them.
Matt Jones
Yeah, that. No, I mean, that was very, very impressive. Let's do DraftKings. We're gonna make our. Well, let's first of all make our picks for tomorrow for our parlay. It's been a little cold. Been a little bit cold. We gotta make it better. This one's got to be one we get. So I'm sitting here. I'll go ahead and give you mine first while you guys are Looking. I got. I'm gonna go Texas and Georgia. Georgia's a 6 1/2 point favorite. Their home. I think Texas has been a little bit of fool's gold. They haven't played great teams. I'm going to take Georgia to cover the six and a half and to win at home. Shannon, what's yours?
Podcast Host/Announcer
All right.
Drew Franklin
LSU is at home. Take it on, Arkansas. LSU is a five and a half point favorite. Give me LSU in the five and a half.
Matt Jones
Oh, so you like the interim coach getting the victory?
Drew Franklin
Let's do it.
Matt Jones
All right. Georgia and lsu. Let's go, Drew.
Ryan Lemond
I like that one, Shannon. I was actually looking at that. I'm gonna stay in the sec.
Matt Jones
We're going all sec.
Ryan Lemond
This one's a little high. But Ole Miss is hosting Florida. I just think Florida is in shambles. Those guys are already looking for their next school. Their coaches are already looking for their next job. It's 11 and a half. But in Oxford, they have a lot to play for and Florida is just wanting this year to end.
Matt Jones
It's only 11. Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
I'd like it. I'd like it. Under 10, obviously.
Matt Jones
Wow.
Ryan Lemond
So I think. I think Florida, we're just going to see them tank the rest of the way.
Matt Jones
So we're taking Georgia, lsu, Ole Miss. What about you?
Shannon
I don't have a good one. Do you like Michigan over?
Matt Jones
I'm not gonna like anything you pick, so you're just gonna have to do it.
Shannon
Michigan is gets a point and a half at Penn State.
Matt Jones
I mean, it's your call.
Shannon
Let's do that.
Drew Franklin
And that's how the parlay did I hit last week?
Shannon
I've hit like two in a row.
Matt Jones
Yes. To be fair, I lost last week. He won. So Georgia, Ole Miss, LSU and Michigan to cover.
Shannon
We.
Matt Jones
We won two of our first three. Been on a cold streak. We're gonna finish strong.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
With this one.
Shannon
I like it.
Matt Jones

Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live at Affinity Rooftop. Two things. First of all, I want to say a big shout out to one of my co hosts here, Drew Franklin. We did two podcasts this week that I think are two of the best ones we've done. One of them was on my Interrupted. We did the news. Billy was also funny. Billy genuinely made me laugh once which is maybe never happened happened until this last podcast like genuine. You're lying about Luke Skywalker generally genuinely made me laugh. And then Drew was hilarious. I think the news that we just did, if you want something to listen to this weekend, it was great. And then I think our Cover Zero podcast was the best one we've done. Especially if you like our style. I don't know what the NFL is going to think. We ended up talking about Tiger Beat magazine. I don't know if that's what they want in their podcast but so if you want two hours of having of laughing these last two. Drew, I was very proud of both of those podcasts with you.
Ryan Lemond
I agree. Had a lot of fun doing them. Just further proves what I've thought for many years. I don't know why we're wasting our time talking about sports. I need the random topics. That's where I thrive.
Matt Jones
The that we. Well he Has a line. I'm not going to spoil it. But he has a lot on the Interrupted podcast that it may be the funniest thing that you. You. You. You've said.
Ryan Lemond
I'm doing it.
Matt Jones
Secondly, who was your pick again in the DraftKings Kings thing?
Shannon
Michigan at Penn State.
Matt Jones
Okay, we have some breaking news, Rick.
Shannon
Oh, no. Is it next week?
Matt Jones
Penn State plays Michigan State this week and Penn State's a 7 1/2 point favorite. So you not only did not get the spread right, you didn't even get the teams right.
Shannon
Wow.
Matt Jones
And so your pick.
Shannon
Wow.
Matt Jones
Your pick is not even in the game.
Shannon
Wow.
Matt Jones
So I think you're gonna have to pick again. How did you get both? What's amazing about that, Shannon, is not only did he make up Penn State playing Michigan, he made up a different spread.
Drew Franklin
I know what he did. I see what he did. He somehow got on college hockey.
Ryan Lemond
Hockey's always. Wait, let's include it.
Shannon
There it is.
Ryan Lemond
I think we included three football games in a hockey game.
Shannon
I think we go for it.
Drew Franklin
Alternate spread.
Shannon
I just searched Michigan and that's what popped up. Wait a minute. You.
Matt Jones
College hockey game.
Shannon
Yeah, I see it now.
Drew Franklin
Can we do that?
Matt Jones
Can we do it? Ask him. Ask.
Ryan Lemond
Wait, when is it? We need to know when it is.
Matt Jones
When is the game? Is it tomorrow? It's got to be tomorrow. It can't be denied because they want us to be.
Drew Franklin
It's today.
Shannon
It says.
Matt Jones
Well, I'll tell you what, I'm going to on my own bet. Michigan minus 1.5 in hockey against Penn State. You're going to need to pick a new game.
Shannon
Well, you're going to have to give me a minute here. I got to search through the old Draft Kings app. By the way, you want to know the balance? My DraftKings account.
Matt Jones
What?
Shannon
0.00 after the Louisville game and after the Alabama Purdue game last night.
Matt Jones
You bet. You bet on zero?
Shannon
Of course I did.
Ryan Lemond
I think we know why. If you're betting hockey. Football.
Matt Jones
He went big on Alabama hockey. They were like, it's not a big sport down here, man. There's something next.
Podcast Host/Announcer
Next.
Matt Jones
Goober. God, even Rick's right. Even Rick is laughing at you now. Go ahead. You guys is crazy. You guys is crazy. That's right. Go ahead.
Caller/Listener
Hey, thanks for taking my call, guys. I got a couple comments and what you guys think we'll be good with that everyday, but when you're running the point, you have a different mindset. You're the facilitator, you're the Guy that sets everyone up and it's going to take away from his game.
Matt Jones
As far as I agree with that. Which is why owe has to be better. Away has to be better. If Aberdeen's going to be point guard, away has to be better because he can't have games like he had against Louisville because for exact reason you just said head.
Caller/Listener
Yeah, well, with O, his head was somewhere else. I don't know where it is right now, but it's not where it was last year. The Louisville game. I can't remember. It's been a while. I'm old and I forget. I cannot remember when I seen. I don't want to use this word, but I will. A more dominant back court. That team right there, that Louisville team, they're legit.
Matt Jones
They're very good. Yeah, Cromwell and Cromwell and Brown are a great combination because you get a freshman with NBA talent and then you get a senior college player that plays really well. I mean that. You're exactly right. I mean there are better backcourts I think like Fox and Monk. Remind me of that, you know, Ulyss and Murray. But, but you're right. I mean that's a great backcourt. And the freshman senior duo I think is really good.
Caller/Listener
Matt, they had 53, 56 points. Now here's something else that you gotta look at. They had three players who had nine points. What that means is they're three points away from five players having double digit points.
Matt Jones
Yeah, but we had that. I mean we've had that before. I mean that's, that's impressive. But like, and I appreciate the call. I don't think the rest, they're starters. I don't think the rest of starters are that great. I mean like you got a three point shooter in the. In. I'm gonna remember his name at some point. McNeely, he got 15.
Ryan Lemond
The game was good.
Matt Jones
I mean they're good, but like the reason they're good is Brown and, and Cromwell. And then I'll also note, you know, Aaliyah or excuse me, Khalifa and Fru. They do what Amari Williams did for us last year. They're at the top.
Podcast Host/Announcer
The of.
Matt Jones
Top of the key guys are cutting off of them. They're passing like they kind of do what Amari did and, and, and what. What worries me about Brandon Garrison Ryan is I don't know if he can do that. I took a lot of heat for my comment yesterday about Mo Diabatte at the 5. People were like, oh, you're an idiot, Modu. But my reasoning Is Modiabate is that passer that we need at the five. Forget about his size. That top of the key, having guys run off of him. Diabate, I think gonna do that better Ryan, than Brandon Garrison is gonna do it.
Shannon
I almost think when you play a team like Louisville, maybe you should do that. Put him at the five and put four shooters out there. Team like Alabama last night, somebody like that.
Matt Jones
But when Garrison gets the ball at the top of the key, he can make that shot. But he is not a great passer. And when he dribbles, I think there are babies that cry. And so the combination of those things, Drew, makes me not necessarily want him to have the ball right there.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. And in hindsight, I know it's not Pope style. He likes pulling his center out and doing that five out. But I still believe Kentucky has a significant front court advantage over Louisville even with Garrison just Marino yellow, the collective. But they didn't really use that much. It's not his style of doing it. But I wonder if they had gone inside a little more and try to lean on that.
Matt Jones
Shannon, did you see the U of L fight? Did you see the UK fan punch the UFL fan in the. In the lobby of the jump center?
Drew Franklin
Is that the guy that broke the nose? Broke his nose and had blood all over the place?
Matt Jones
Did you see the punch?
Drew Franklin
No, but I saw the aftermath. It looked like a murder scene.
Matt Jones
I mean, the punch was like.
Drew Franklin
It had to be good.
Matt Jones
I'm kind of surprised the guy honestly didn't get arrested.
Shannon
Yeah, I mean.
Matt Jones
I mean, he. He knocked the blank out of him. And then the. The aftermath was not pretty either.
Drew Franklin
Let's get to see the rivalries back to where it was before. We're punching each other, knocking each other out, breaking noses. That's what it's all about.
Matt Jones
Is that good?
Drew Franklin
Well, I mean, Drew got punched in there.
Ryan Lemond
Break my nose. You gotta hit harder a little.
Drew Franklin
Well, they gotta hit you in the face first.
Matt Jones
All right, let's go quick. Tennessee Tech, Kentucky give me score.
Shannon
Tennessee Tech game. Kentucky. I think the spread went from like 22 to 20. It went down, didn't it? It's almost a. Kentucky 49, Tennessee Tech 21, drew 45.
Ryan Lemond
14.
Matt Jones
Say it.
Drew Franklin
51, 17.
Matt Jones
I'll go 41 10. UK basketball tonight against Eastern Illinois.
Shannon
Eastern Illinois. I know the coach, Marty Simmons, but he's going to come in here and go home crying. Eastern loses by 35. I'll say 85.
Drew Franklin
50, 88, 54, 105, 68, 105.
Ryan Lemond
I'll be fun.
