Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.
Matt Jones
Welcome back. Hour number two, tiny sports radio. 859-280-2287. So apparently the players air tournament chin and the maximum you can win by is 20.
Shannon
Okay. Yeah. So the maximum you can win by is 20. So what do they do?
Matt Jones
Well, so for that like who gets to go the finals? So Tennessee went by 25. Michigan won by 40, but it only counts as 20. Oh, so Michigan and Tennessee are now tied with 20 point wins.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Gonzaga, they both were to win then. That's a good sign. But like say Gonzaga, that won by 10 instead of being 30 points behind Michigan. They're only 10 points behind Michigan. Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
One by 10. Does that mean they covered?
Commercial Narrator
They did.
Matt Jones
They did. You got one right. Are you excited about that? You got one right.
Shannon
Took him an hour to get his victory lap.
Matt Jones
Yeah, he's a little bit. You were a little behind on your victory lap there, but you did get it. So congratulations.
Ryan Lemond
Well, I just think they're like I said, the best team in the country and I do not want to play them.
Matt Jones
Kansas won by 10 as well, so they're right there. Yeah, I would be frustrated, Drew, if I was in this tournament and we won both games but we didn't win by enough. That would, that would, I'd be like, that's a weird tournament. I don't like that.
Drew Franklin
I actually hate this format because I watched Iowa State, St. John's and it was a great game. I mean they're back and forth is close most the game. Iowa State wins by one, but they're going to get punished for a good win that came down to the wire because they didn't win by 10. Should be a bracket format.
Matt Jones
And Tennessee got to play Rutgers. You know, Rutger stinks So it is a little unfair. But I mean, ultimately they're just doing this to play good teams anyway, so. All right, I have to say something. We've yet to find Ryan this. This. This super fan from.
Ryan Lemond
Nobody contacted you?
Matt Jones
No one has. We have. We had over a thousand unique phone numbers. Send a text yesterday, which is an amazing amount of people to text the text machine just. And actually have substance. And not one person knows this guy.
Ryan Lemond
Wow.
Matt Jones
So who is he? I have pictures of people who've taken pictures with him at games at like other UK games. But Drew, no one knows who he is. At least hasn't told me yet.
Drew Franklin
I'm surprised because like you and on Bond. Bond that Bridge. On Facebook, there's multiple pictures of people with him, but it's like he's just someone they in passing see games get a quick photo, but no one actually knows him.
Matt Jones
Yeah. By the way, for newer listeners, there's a Facebook page. Bond that bit.
Shannon
Whoa.
Matt Jones
That's a different bridge. Behind that bridge. Okay, I'm thrown off. The Facebook page is called Bond that Bridge. And it's like for fans of KSR people, it's a real great, great group of fans there. It's kind of a good hardcore KSR fan base. Got about 16 to 17,000 people on it. You should go join it. But there is a post there about people who have met him, but no one, no one has sent me a name or a place he's from. Shannon, that. That really surprises me. I mean, over the years I've been able to get senators phone numbers. How do we not know who this guy is?
Shannon
Is this the one guy that's going to be so elusive we never find him, never see him? I mean, he's going to be in another game, but he's at him.
Matt Jones
He's. It seems like he's at every game.
Shannon
Okay, so then.
Matt Jones
But nobody knows who he is.
Shannon
Well, then one of us who's there at the game just needs to go down there, tap him on his spike shoulder pads and say, hey, who are you?
Matt Jones
But I don't want to wait a year. I'd like I was.
Shannon
He might be at the level game.
Matt Jones
I mean, it seems like he probably will.
Shannon
He went to Nashville.
Matt Jones
But do you think he's like just a regular guy that doesn't want people to know his. His thing?
Shannon
Know that he puts on face paint as a 50 still him.
Matt Jones
Someone recognizes him, Ryan. They have to.
Ryan Lemond
And you know, I kind of threw this out there, but I wonder if it is a player's dad that really not associated with the fan. He just comes on game day, doesn't associate with us during the week.
Matt Jones
Andy Beshear.
Shannon
What's more embarrassing? Your dad dresses like that guy or Diego Pavia's mom.
Matt Jones
Oh, Diego Pavi is mom is more.
Shannon
Embarrassing than that guy with a blue wig?
Matt Jones
And no, I mean, he's just a hardcore fan. I think he's awesome.
Shannon
I think Pavia's mom's awesome.
Matt Jones
All right, I. I've had multiple requests for Ryan to stop. The bound chick of £ £ Mommy. What do we do, Drew? I mean, like, you and I've said this to him a hundred times. Is it just, like, ingrained in his soul? Is there just not gonna be anything we can do?
Drew Franklin
I don't know if you can see him on the camera right now, but the grin he has on his face tells me this is going nowhere. Like, I think he has one dialed up that he wants to do again at this moment. And I feel partially guilty being the chaperone these last two days.
Matt Jones
Well, he doesn't do it as much in front of me because I give him the death stare. Yeah, but when it's you and Mario, he doesn't feel. He doesn't feel inhibited.
Drew Franklin
I got to do better. I got to do partially on me, which gets me.
Matt Jones
We were. Okay. And he has the blue wedding ring. Right. Which gets me to a wedding ring question. This is for married people or people who have been married. So, Shannon, you're out. Drew and Ryan. So I guess Our vice president, J.D. vance, what his wife's name is. What's that? What's her name?
Ryan Lemond
Is it Mrs. Vance?
Caller
Yeah.
Matt Jones
I don't know. I don't know her first name, but she was seen in public. She was giving a speech or something. She didn't have her wedding ring on. Okay. And a lot of people were like, oh, what's going on? She doesn't have her wedding ring on. They released a statement yesterday that said something to the effect of, oftentimes she gets busy and she's washing dishes or something, and maybe she doesn't put the wedding ring on, but she and the vice president still love each other and are together. So I have a question about wedding rings. I have always. And having never been married, I don't know, but I've always kind of thought, isn't the thing, like, you never take it off, like, ever? Or when are you allowed to take it off? Like, when is it okay to take it off? I mean, she gave a public speech, so that's a Little strange that she didn't, but. But her. The premise was she had taken it off for something else and just forgot to put it back on. Is that something that happens? Like, when in wedding ring world, are you allowed to take it off? You two that are married, what's the rule?
Ryan Lemond
Drew's the only one currently married. I'll let him take.
Matt Jones
Okay, well, I mean, Ryan, you were married, but you.
Ryan Lemond
So.
Matt Jones
But you. So you've been through this with you multiple times. So, like, you have experience. What's the rule?
Ryan Lemond
I always felt like you never took it off ever.
Matt Jones
No matter what.
Ryan Lemond
No matter what.
Matt Jones
Do you shower in it?
Ryan Lemond
I did. I showered. I did. The only time I ever took it off in both my marriages is when I was playing softball. I would take it off during the softball game. That was it.
Matt Jones
What if you were swimming?
Ryan Lemond
Like, what if.
Caller
Swimming.
Matt Jones
So, like, if you went in the ocean, you'd wear it?
Ryan Lemond
Oh, yeah. Because usually most of us gain a little weight as we get older, and that ring does not even budge. It ain't. It ain't coming off anytime soon.
Matt Jones
So you're doing you only plaisoftball.
Ryan Lemond
It bothered me. It like, it.
Matt Jones
Oh, it hurt his swing, Shannon. So that was when he could take it off?
Shannon
Yeah, yeah.
Matt Jones
When he's hit foul balls off me, he would take it off. Okay.
Shannon
The coeds all thought he was single, though, at the softball game, so.
Matt Jones
So you're like, never take it. All right, what about you, Drew?
Drew Franklin
This feels like a setup because I'm currently not wearing mine, so thank you for that.
Matt Jones
Oh, I didn't know that. Sorry.
Drew Franklin
I take mine off a lot, though. Like, literally, when I left the house this morning, I was like, whoop, left that at home. Oh, well.
Matt Jones
So do you take it off, like, every night?
Drew Franklin
Not every night, but frequently at night to sleep.
Matt Jones
Is it that sometimes when I'm just.
Drew Franklin
Working, I'll put it on the desk next to my.
Matt Jones
Does it constrict you? Like, why do you take it off?
Drew Franklin
Mine's actually a little too big, so I don't swim in mine. It would probably fall off. I've actually been standing up with my arms by my side with Abby next to me, and my ring has fallen off, and she heard it bounce, like, so mine's a little too big. I take it off a lot now. I usually. I try to wear it when I'm out, but, like, right now.
Matt Jones
But you might.
Drew Franklin
So clearly, by the way, love you, Abby. Sorry about this, but right now, I'm currently not wearing it. But my thought Was I'm going to go see Ryan in the studio.
Matt Jones
I had no idea.
Drew Franklin
No, that's right. No, but it's a good question because I do take mine off a lot.
Ryan Lemond
They've got those, the rubber ones now where you can wear them and they're kind of snug, like.
Shannon
Yeah, they're like rubber or what do you get? Those have a rubber.
Matt Jones
Who gets a rubber wedding ring?
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. Then that way you go swimming or.
Shannon
You get a rubber ring.
Matt Jones
I have one.
Drew Franklin
I have a silicone ring.
Ryan Lemond
Silicone. Okay.
Matt Jones
So what's going on?
Ryan Lemond
So you could, like, you don't want to wear your wedding ring if you're swimming or. Or whatever. You can wear that rubber one for.
Drew Franklin
The reason I mentioned that mine falls off so much like vacation. I'll wear a cheap one because.
Matt Jones
I know, but is the point of wearing a cheap one to be like, I'm taken and I don't want to use my good. Like, what's the point of that?
Drew Franklin
Well, for me, it's because mine will literally fall off and I'll lose it. And I don't want to go on vacation and lose an expensive ring.
Matt Jones
But I have a coin show that you're together with your wife.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. I think you wear it to show a sign. I'm committed to my wife and I'm going to tell everybody who looks at me I am.
Matt Jones
Okay, now is especially for Ryan.
Drew Franklin
Like, imagine Ryan walking down the street without a wedding ring. He's going to get stopped every couple.
Matt Jones
I mean, women are going to be coming all over the place. All over the place. So let's do women. Just a second. Are the rules different for them because their ring might be very expensive? Do they take it off?
Ryan Lemond
I know it used to be, like, it's practice for some women to do it when they are doing the dishes. Because the old stories where to go down. They slip off and go down the drain, and you got to call the plumber.
Shannon
We don't have dishwashers in the year 2025.
Matt Jones
I mean, I don't know if the vice president's wife is hand washing the dishes.
Shannon
I don't buy that.
Drew Franklin
But even like just washing your hands, a lot of people take it off over a sink. If you got a ring with some value, you're going to be very careful over.
Matt Jones
What would you say women wear it more or less?
Drew Franklin
I would guess more. Also, theirs is always typically a little more to show off.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Like, they got.
Drew Franklin
They actually have a nice piece of jewelry. I mean, not that mine.
Matt Jones
So this will Be value.
Drew Franklin
Hers is much more.
Matt Jones
If you. And this is hard to ask, Shannon, with Drew having not worn his ring today. So let's. Let's. Let's leave Drew out.
Drew Franklin
Thanks for calling me out this first day in months that I've done this.
Matt Jones
Let's leave Drew out of the. Of the conversation. Ryan, is it, like, considered a symbol of something bad if you do not wear your ring? Like, if you were to go out on a Friday night and not wear your ring, do wives or husbands generally get upset about that?
Ryan Lemond
Yes, definitely. Yeah.
Matt Jones
What something people would be mad about.
Ryan Lemond
Yes, no doubt. If. If I go out with the fellows and I. Oh, whoops, my wedding ring. I left it at home. Yeah, that's not a good sign as that's my. My wife is not going to be happy about that.
Matt Jones
Well, it's interesting because I had never really considered it till. Till this whole thing. I don't like wearing rings or jewelry, Shannon, So it's yet another reason I don't know if I can get married. I don't like wedding cake. Yeah. O. So that's part of it. I don't like dressing up. That's part of it.
Shannon
Just want to get married in a hoodie. I mean, you could do that at your wedding.
Matt Jones
No, I mean, I would do it and then, but the idea of having a ring on all the time. I don't like rings and I don't really like accessories.
Shannon
Sounds like you don't like marriage.
Matt Jones
Well, I mean, there's a reason why I take mine off a lot at home.
Drew Franklin
Mine comes off. Especially if I'm at my desk typing. It will just sit there right next to my mouse.
Matt Jones
All right, well, who's up next?
Shannon
Let's go to Wilson.
Matt Jones
Wilson. Go ahead, Wilson.
Caller
Hey, man. Follow up from a conversation yesterday and a group that I think has went unscathed and without criticism through this whole conversation we've had the last two years. And that's the administration at the University of Kentucky. They're the board in this scenario that's responsible for managing Mitch Barnhart, the ad, the CEO. And outside looking in. I can't tell that they've done anything.
Matt Jones
You've got Mitch.
Caller
It's failed to adopt or adapt to any of these emerging business trends. The product on the field is bad. Everything around the product on the field is bad. Game day atmosphere, like Drew was talking about earlier. And they seem to be negligent in their duty in managing him.
Matt Jones
Well, this is why I think it's so important that when a school hires a board of trustees that they don't just hire like random people right now. This is something that they're, in theory, they did with this champions blue. Thing is, let's get business people to run our athletic department. I like that. In theory, we'll see how it works in practice. But, you know, so. But when the board of trustees, they tend to be political appointees of the governor, which often means just that you were a political, you know, donor or whatever of the governor. And. And I don't think that's a good system. I don't care who the governor is. I just don't think that's a good system. So I'm kind of agree with you. There needs to be more oversight because somebody should have looked at this contract, especially the 60 day provision, and gone. Why are we doing this?
Caller
Yeah. And Matt, look, to my opinion, it's more important to get the ad part fixed now because two years from now we can have a new ad that starts fixing the stuff around the football program. Okay. Whether it be game day atmosphere in IL or whatever. And then we're even more attractive to a prospective coach. Or we can just be status quo for the next two years.
Matt Jones
I think that's. Somebody has to have a completely. That's a completely fair point. And there are parts of it, and I appreciate the call. There are parts of it that are easily fixable. The relation to fans in the game day atmosphere that is fixable. And the fact that they haven't done it for years, when it's been a problem for years and has showcased that they don't get it. They don't understand. They don't. And I believe that the reason they don't is because that athletic department has no connection to the fan base. They do not understand them. Mitch doesn't deal with them. And they are in an old era. You know, a year ago I've told this story, they escorted Mario out of a media thing because he wasn't like real media or something because he was a social media person. And the fact that in 2000, at the time 24, they didn't think social media people were real media people. Showcases. They have no idea what the world is like right now. They I yelled and got them back in. But the fact it even happened is an example of how far behind they are on even knowing what motivates people anymore. I mean, I remember when they escorted Mario out, they were like, you know, this is for real media. I'm like, Mario has only worked with us for two months. He already has more followers than almost all the other media. And you're saying he like the fact that you don't understand that that person matters is part of the problem. And that's what frustrates me.
Drew Franklin
It's a joke around the media. I always say, man, I wish I worked for a local newspaper. My radio show and my website I do aren't big enough. I need the local radio.
Matt Jones
I mean, they still listen.
Drew Franklin
I mean local newspaper.
Matt Jones
It is hilarious to me though, when people are like, you're taking up for your friends. We get treated worse than media that has 1/50 the listeners and views we do. It's ridiculous. But it's because they have no idea what moves a fan base. They still are operating at a time when you work at a newspaper. I'm not trying to be rude because I like these people at the newspaper, but the amount of people that read the Herald Leader is not as it's like 1 20th as much as who read one. Shannon the dude tweet. And it's crazy the way that they don't understand that. It is crazy that we went to a Buffalo Bills game and they invited us on the field and let us do whatever we wanted and I can't do it at a Kentucky game. And then you wonder why I don't come out and promote whatever it is you want because you all don't know how to treat it and you don't understand what the fans want. So now that's my Frank Franklin bit. We'll take a break and be right. Be right.
Drew Franklin
Welcome.
Matt Jones

A lot of people, not surprisingly, they want to weigh in on the wedding rings. One person goes, I love Drew and Ryan. I'm not sure they're the greatest wedding ring etiquette panel. Yeah. I mean, they're two.
Drew Franklin
My wife just texted me in support. She said it happens.
Commercial Narrator
Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
And I've been married twice, so I'm an expert.
Matt Jones
One person writes, Matt, some people who work in factories don't wear their rings because gold can attract electricity.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. If you work in heavy machinery, I can completely understand you taking it off before you go into work.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Some person says, I worked around machines, and I've seen several fingers lost because of wedding bands.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, I can get that. But you're going out your fellows for drinks after work, though. You better put that thing back on.
Matt Jones
Well, guys, 46 years. I have 11 wedding bands raging from ranging from a $20 silicone band to a $4,500 diamond band. Shannon, he, like, treats it as fast.
Shannon
I mean, it feels like one ring would be plenty.
Matt Jones
One ring to rule them all.
Shannon
Yeah. I don't know why you need 11.
Matt Jones
Thank you, everyone that's writing. I get that. Maybe I misspoke on saying what happens when Ryan walks down the street.
Ryan Lemond
Well, we'll just let that go.
Commercial Narrator
Yeah.
Matt Jones
That wasn't my best. Just entire segment for verbal slippage. But that's the way. That's the way it happens. One person writes, Matt, I remember you telling the story about Mario. You were very upset, and then you didn't bring it up again. I'm glad you just did. I was very upset. I'm still very upset about it. But, you know, we got it worked out the next day, and I moved on. But it's not even about mar. I mean, it's a little bit about Mario because he had just started and they embarrassed. They embarrassed him in front of an arena full of people, which also made me map. But it's just the principle of the thing about not understanding what moves your people. You know, you. If. If you ran an institution. Athletics is a business. It's also pr, and they are terrible at pr. Especially in football. Yes, especially in football. In basketball, they've gotten much better. The new the Pope, people have recognized it and have made that a priority, and it is better still don't. I still don't think it where it needs to be, but it's much better. But in football, they are playing in a different era there. I mean, literally there. There's barely gotten to the blog era. Forget about the social media era. And you know that. And then you wonder why things are not the way you want. They had the view over there. Well, if we win, none of this is going to matter. Well, there. They may go to a bowl, Shannon. And it still matters. They still haven't necessarily won the fans.
Shannon
Not exactly.
Matt Jones
Not exactly. Who's next?
Shannon
Let's go to Jacob.
Matt Jones
Jacob. Go ahead, Jacob.
Caller
Hey, Matt. Comment and then a question. I think that. I think that we're definitely gonna see another year of Mark Stoops. So I'm kind of embracing that. And I think that two things, you know, need to happen and you've hit them both. But two things need to happen moving forward, one of which is they need a complete overhaul of fan relations and the in game experience. They need to hire somebody like they do.
Matt Jones
They need to hire somebody. And I've been told, by the way, I have been told. I was told this a few weeks ago, JMI has a guy from like San Diego who was a big part of making the Padres in game experience. I'm told that's really good. I haven't been that they are. That they have a person to try to do that next year. I hope that's true. I haven't heard any more about it, but that would be a positive.
Caller
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And also the whole, you know, just fan relations, tailgating, all that stuff that we've talked about before, you know, they just need, they need somebody that's gonna, they're gonna improve that. And then also I think that they need to. To really look at the staff around Mark. If he's gonna stay and I'm fine with him staying, then they really need to look at the staff and really take a, you know, a deep inventory of. Of who's valuable. I think that really, to me, the only one that is like definitely keep is. Is Brad White. The rest of them, I think we need to have a conversation and figure out if they're the right fit for. For us moving forward.
Matt Jones
I think these are all good points and I appreciate the call. And this is hard specifically for Ryan Drew, me. We've been dealing with these people both in the media department and in the football department and the athletics department for 20 years. But part of the problem, Drew, is that we've been dealing with the same people for 20 years and there's no new blood. Right.
Drew Franklin
I always joke that if I got in a time machine and went back to that went back to 2005 and went to a game, everything would be right.
Matt Jones
It's the same thing.
Drew Franklin
It's just the same thing.
Matt Jones
Twenty years ago, things like picking Players. Eddie Grant I like, but, I mean, what training does Eddie Grant have in being a football gm? But he just has the job, right. I don't know how he got it. Like, everyone around Mark is the same. It's just, you have. You. You cannot be stale and succeed. There came a point where I, like, a year ago, a year and a half ago was like, okay, KSR's got to embrace a new area. I didn't know Mario. I hired him. They need, like 15 people in jobs like that at all levels. We'll be right back. T.J. smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. he'll make him pay.
Shannon
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Matt Jones
I love this song, Shannon.
Shannon
I thought you might. That's why I'm playing it.
Matt Jones
George Jones. And they sang this after they were divorced? No song about the wedding rings. I think they recorded it after they were divorced because I guess they got divorced and then they still kind of, you know, they'd have reunion hookups and stuff.
Shannon
Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
That what they're calling it these days, I think.
Matt Jones
Well, I mean, I think everybody's been through that at some point in their life. You know, sometimes the flame still sparks, Shannon.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And I think that's. But they sang this then. Can you think you could, like. It's funny. Bands that perform with their. Like Fleetwood Mac.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, good one.
Matt Jones
The people who I, you know, do.
Ryan Lemond
All Stefani and no doubt.
Matt Jones
Can I ask you a question, Shannon? I. I didn't really understand this. When the Rock and Roll hall of Fame happened. I was reading about the White Stripes, so I didn't really, like. I wasn't following that kind of music when the White Stripes were really popular.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And I always had the understanding that they were brother and sister.
Shannon
No, they told everybody that so that people would stop asking if.
Matt Jones
But they were actually a couple.
Shannon
Yes. And then they got divorced and still played.
Matt Jones
Okay. So that's what I'm saying. So when did people find out they weren't brother and sister?
Shannon
They kept that secret up until like, just maybe five years ago, six years ago, something like that.
Matt Jones
Did people suspect they were married or did we all. Because I always just. I mean, again, I didn't follow them, but I was just assumed they were brother and sister.
Shannon
Well, there was always, you know, are they brother and sister or are they married? And eventually.
Matt Jones
Why did people think they were married? Like, I would never assume. Assume two people who said they were brother and sister were married. What made people suspect they were married?
Shannon
Well, they didn't know at first. So after they said their brother and sister, that's why they said that. Then after that, they kind of just let it go. Right. They just assumed. Okay. They say they're brother and sister, their brother and sister, but turns out they were actually married.
Matt Jones
Is that not really strange?
Drew Franklin
Did people know their last name? Were both Jack and Meg White? I mean, that's the only thing I could think of is that.
Matt Jones
Yeah, well, but if she wasn't married and they were brother and sister, they would have the same last name.
Shannon
Right.
Matt Jones
But am I. Does no one think that's weird? For 15 years, say you were brother and sister, and then you were. Why didn't they just say they were married?
Shannon
I guess that when they got divorced, they didn't want that to be a thing. So they just.
Matt Jones
They were already divorced?
Shannon
Yeah. I'm not sure what year they got divorced, but at some point they got divorced, and I think they just wanted to try to cover it up and just say they're brother and sister.
Matt Jones
But I thought they came out of the gate saying they were brother and sister. Did they not?
Shannon
Maybe so I don't know the time.
Drew Franklin
They were divorced very early in their.
Matt Jones
Like, before they blew up, but then they.
Drew Franklin
So they were kind of stuck with it.
Matt Jones
Okay, so then they. So then they kept going even after they had divorced.
Shannon
Well, imagine like, you know, your entire career is attached to this person that you just got divorced with.
Matt Jones
That's amazing, though.
Drew Franklin
They got divorced in 2000, and I mean, they. Several years after that.
Matt Jones
Yeah. So that's amazing that they played all of those years together, divorced, and were a band traveling the world and seemed to like each. Like, that's amazing that they could do.
Shannon
That, you know, probably had separate tour buses.
Matt Jones
I would assume so. And probably, like, meeting significant others along the way.
Drew Franklin
Right?
Shannon
Yeah. That had to be awkward.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Wouldn't you? And the fact they were able to do that is kind of unbelievable if you think about it.
Ryan Lemond
Yep.
Shannon
But that money.
Drew Franklin
Well, I have a new detail that makes it a little weirder.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Drew Franklin
He remarried, and Meg was the maid of honor at the wedding.
Shannon
What do you do? Marry her sister.
Matt Jones
Dude. I don't know how people do that. I really don't. I mean, I give them. Like, I have really good relationships. Like, I. I've had, like, four, you know, four or five serious relationship, and I have really good relationships with all of those people. But that's another thing, though, to have them be the maid of honor in your wedding. You know, it's one thing to get along yeah, that.
Shannon
To work with them every day.
Matt Jones
That's amazing.
Shannon
Really is.
Matt Jones
That really is amazing. 859-280-2287. One person says, Matt, everything you said, wouldn't that be more successful if you didn't say it on radio and you said it to them privately at jmi. Well, I think, Ryan, you can agree. I've said it many, many times. Privately.
Ryan Lemond
Many, many, many times.
Matt Jones
Many times I've given them this advice. It's in one ear, out the other for all those people.
Ryan Lemond
The UK administration, when it comes to football has just, for lack of a better word, fumbled it so many times. They took away some of their tailgating area. They made them give up some of their seats. They discontinued the women's clinic. They don't do the fraction of fan day. What it should be the spring game this past year. I mean, they should be building this relationship with the fan base. Instead, they can continue to try to tear it apart.
Matt Jones
Think about what the basketball team did this year, where they just threw together that fan thing on the day of the Big Blue Madness.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. Yeah.
Matt Jones
And that will be better in the future. But the mere fact that they tried to do it, Drew, is an example of how the basketball team gets it more than the football team. Yeah.
Drew Franklin
Pro can't even talk. Pope has injected some life and some PR into all of this. I know we made a big deal out of the family day, but there's been so many fan events, you know, before that it had died. Both sports were pretty bad until Pope got here. And he's been very intentional of trying to bring everyone in, and that's why everyone likes him so much and is kind of forgiving when he's taken some.
Matt Jones
Bad losses and shout out to, like, women's basketball and volleyball. They actually have done that stuff very well. Remember, volleyball Watch party tonight at 7 at KS Bar. Tomorrow we're in Columbia at. What is it? Don Franklin in Columbia.
Ryan Lemond
Columbia. Yep, it sure is.
Matt Jones
Before I go, the phones. Shannon, this is one. This is a day I really like. You know, what happened today that. That I care about, and I know the three of you probably don't, and almost no one listening does, but I do.
Shannon
What's up?
Matt Jones
The New York Times released their hundred best books of 2025.
Shannon
Oh, yeah.
Matt Jones
This becomes basically my. The way I pick my reading list for 2026.
Shannon
Big day for you.
Ryan Lemond
It is nerd fest.
Matt Jones
You know, I'm trying to do. I tried to do a book a week for this year. We talked about that.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And I'm behind, but I'm scrambling to the finish. I have 14 more, and I'm about done with four because I'm reading four at once. So I have to read 10 in December. Ryan. I don't know if I'm gonna be able to do it, but we're trying to sprint to the finish line.
Ryan Lemond
Well, on our trip, you can let one of us drive while you can.
Matt Jones
Read, and I can't read in the car. I read before we go to bed. But 10. 10 in December, and then I will have accomplished my goal, which would make me very happy. What's next?
Shannon
Sebastian?
Matt Jones
Sebastian? Go ahead, Sebastian.
Caller
Yeah, I was gonna see if you guys could help me clear up a little personal mystery I've had here for about a decade. So I was born in Fayette County. I'm right around Drew's age, and I lost my paper birth certificate a long time ago. But what I do have is something that looks like a credit card and it says birth certificate on it. It has all my birth certificate information, but when I took it to the DMV in Louisville, they looked at it like it was an alien artifact. It would not let me get the real ID with it. And I've never talked to anybody else that has one of these. I was curious. Have you all ever seen that?
Matt Jones
I've not. So it's like a credit card birth certificate?
Caller
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Do you know where you got.
Caller
I figured it would be better than the paper version.
Matt Jones
Do you know where you got it?
Caller
Fayette County.
Matt Jones
But, like, where in Fayette County?
Caller
Well, no, I mean, it just says Fayette county on it. It was a. You know.
Matt Jones
I understand, but, like, it had to have come from somewhere. I mean, did you get it at, like. Oh. Oh, no, no. Gas station. Like, where did you get it? Oh, your mother gave it to you?
Caller
No, no, my mother had it. Yeah. They gave it to. Well, she has. She just said she got it at birth, so I don't know. She has.
Drew Franklin
It was part.
Matt Jones
It was immaculate conception. No, it was. It was. It was. So it was, like, by the hospital. Is that what. The hospital gave it to her?
Caller
Well, she. I can't really ask her that now. But, like. So, yeah, that. It was with all my baby stuff.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Caller
I'm assuming it probably was mailed to her because I don't think the hospital would have a 3D printing machine or whatever it takes to make those cards.
Matt Jones
How old are you? Asking? How old are you?
Caller
No. Yeah. 40. 41.
Matt Jones
41. All right, so the easiest way to answer that. I've never Heard of that. But the easiest way to answer that is to throw that to the general public and somebody will maybe have done it. So I'll ask if anybody else has a credit card size birth certificate. What is that? You're just wanting to know what it is and how you may have gotten it, right?
Caller
Yeah. Yeah. Because I would figure that a DMV in Louisville, even though it was from Lexington, would have seen it before.
Matt Jones
Yeah, well, we'll see. I appreciate the call. I mean, maybe your mom had it made it like a gas station. I don't know.
Shannon
I don't know that it just came out with the baby. It just fell out.
Matt Jones
Drew, have you ever heard of one of those credit card birth certificate?
Drew Franklin
No, I was trying to picture it. When he says, does he mean it was the size of a credit card or it actually had like a magnetic thing he could swipe? Does it have. Does have numbers?
Matt Jones
Yeah. I mean, I'm looking at my birth certificate. It's kind of amazing it still exists. Like, it's a piece of paper. It's. It's wrinkled. It has the. It has the date it was filed, has the state registrar at the time. But I didn't. I didn't get a credit card. I didn't get like a credit card. So maybe somebody will know.
Ryan Lemond
That has to be like a memento or token that the hospital did is like a gift or some sort to the model.
Matt Jones
Oh, you think so? That may be. Yeah, that might be right. Who's next?
Shannon
Matt.
Matt Jones
Matt. Go ahead, Matt.
Caller
Hey, guys. Me and my beautiful wife are on our way to do yoga and Z and out. Since I can't meditate my garden. But any hoot, I got a couple of things to say. Me and my wife have decided you would be the perfect next ad for the University of Kentucky.
Matt Jones
Oscar Combs put a. Put a poll up about that and said who would be the best for this. And I came behind Donald Trump, which hurt my feelings, I have to say. I mean, whether you like Donald Trump or not, I think I would do better with UK athletics. But nevertheless, go ahead, Matt.
Caller
Well, I mean, you know the fans, you know, nil. You know the law. You got connections. You perfect. But the second thing is I want to say Happy Thanksgiving to everybody and make good decisions. And shout out to Donovan, God bless.
Matt Jones

He asked about the the credit card or the credit card birth certificate. Apparently Ryan, for 14 years in the 80s and early 90s, you had the option when you were born in Kentucky to also for $3 more get a plastic credit card size birth certificate you could carry in your wallet. It does not count as an official document, but it was issued by the state and then they stopped doing it in the mid-90s.
Ryan Lemond
Well, there you go. There's, there's the answer to that guy's question right there.
Drew Franklin
My mom chimed in on that too. She remembers them offering it almost like a little souvenir gift shop.
Matt Jones
It was like you could, you could get it with it for a few extra dollars. A lot of people listening to have it. So there you go, Shannon. We learned something new every single day.
Shannon
Wonder why they stopped doing it?
Matt Jones
I don't know.
Shannon
I mean, you know, you would think you would continue to do that.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Maybe cost too much to make. Maybe because you couldn't use it.
Shannon
I don't know.
Matt Jones
I have a story I want to tell you. Drew this will. You may have already read this. Ryan. I think you're going to like this story.
Ryan Lemond
Okay. I'm ready.
Matt Jones
Specifically, there's a book called Expensive Basketball, which is. Which I'm reading right now. It's by a guy named Shay Serrano. Drew really likes him. This is my first book. I've read of his. Drew, I think you have, like, all of his books.
Drew Franklin
I have every book he's ever written and wrote, written, and I pre order all of them.
Caller
I love them.
Drew Franklin
I mean, everything he puts out is good.
Matt Jones
So he's right. This one's about pro basketball. And it's. It's like stories about pro basketball. And there's a story I wanted to quickly share about LeBron James that I think is funny. All right, so LeBron James is playing basketball, and I guess I believe the player there. I believe they're playing against the Wizards, okay? And it's a big game, and it's in the playoffs. And Gilbert Arenas, he. Every time they would play against Cleveland, which is who he was on. Do you know. You know, Damon Jones, he was part of this whole gambling scandal, right?
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Okay. So Damon Jones was his teammate. And Gilbert Arenas. Damon Jones owed Gilbert Arenas money from a card game, okay. And it really made Gilbert Arenas mad, by the way. We should have seen the Damon Jones thing coming, Shannon. By the fact that he still owed money for people from card games when they played the NBA.
Shannon
That would make sense.
Matt Jones
Really made him mad. He owed him, like, $50,000. So every time the Wizards would play Cleveland, Gilbert Arenas would make it his job to get Damon Jones and light him up, okay? Because it made him so mad. And he would play his best games against Cleveland because Damon Jones was gardening. He hated him. It got to the point they played each other in the playoffs, Ryan, and they couldn't even play Damon Jones. Gilbert Arenas would crush him so much, they had to keep him on the bench. Wow. All right, now, big time game. Wizards are up one. Gilbert Arenas gets fouled with, like, three seconds left. With a chance to basically ice the game. He gets up to shoot. He gets nervous. He misses the first one. It's time for the second one. LeBron famously then goes up and starts talking in Gilbert's ear. You can see this online. He starts talking in Gilbert's ear, and Gilbert looks at him like, what are you doing? And he keeps talking. And people have always wondered, what did LeBron say to him? Because in the second free throw, he misses by, like, two feet. And people are like, lebron must have rattled him, Gilbert. Apparently, LeBron whispers today to Gilbert Arenas and says, if you miss this, you know he's going to get You. That's all he says. All right. You know he's going to get you. Well, what did he mean? Damon Jones, who had not played the entire game, they check him in for the final play and Gilbert arena sees him and goes, that can't be what he means. They're not putting this game in. He is not so petty. They're going to put Damon Jones in for this final play to score. He's like, there's no way they do that. What do they do? LeBron runs a play, kicks it out to Damon Jones, hits a shot at the buzzer, and the Wizards.
Ryan Lemond
Wow.
Matt Jones
And the story is in the book for how petty LeBron is. He was mad that he had embarrassed his friend about this $50,000 and he waited until the playoffs and then got it to where his friend hit the shot to knock him out.
Ryan Lemond
Wow.
Matt Jones
I kind of think that's an awesome story, Shannon. Do you?
Shannon
It is, yeah. That he waited for that moment, because I'm sure they played more throughout the regular season and other games, but he waited for that moment in the playoffs.
Matt Jones
And even Gilbert Arenas apparently admitted in a podcast later on that it shook him. And he still to this day is mad about the fact they checked him. Guy had not played the whole game, checked him in to hit the winning shot at the end.
Shannon
That never. I mean, I'm sure that never happens.
Matt Jones
You know, And Drew. Drew arena says, I saw him come in and I was like, that they're not going to let him shoot. They're not going to do it. And then he did it and they ended up winning.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. I even saw the video of arena still on this. It went viral when Damon Jones got arrested. Because in 2006, arena says, that's our gambling group, Damon Jones and LeBron, which kind of raised some red flags about LeBron's participation in all of this. But it also goes to show you these. There's these little games within the game, not necessarily like Terry Rosier stuff, but these guys have their trash talking inside stuff going on all the time. And LeBron, that was an all timer.
Matt Jones
That's an all timer right there, I have to say. Who's next?
Shannon
Let's go to Donna.
Matt Jones
Donna, Go ahead, Donna.
Caller
I wanted to answer the question about the birth certificate, and you all already talked about that, so that was what I wanted to say. And they also did it in the late 70s because that's when I got the one for my older son. So. Okay, anyway, wishing you all a happy. A very happy Thanksgiving.

Drew Franklin
Yeah, Houston knocked him out.
Matt Jones
Yeah, Houston knocked him out. And I remember Houston kind of devastating them in that game. So I will take Houston. Thank you all very much.
