Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live in Columbia, Kentucky in Adair County, Don Franklin Ford. Give me some Dare County. By the way, Don Franklin Ford, I've got these little things to read. How about this one? Are you ready for rough stuff?
Shannon
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ryan Lemon
Pow chick a pow pow.
Drew
All right.
Shannon
All right.
Ryan Lemon
Is that what you mean?
Matt
You said hot young running back too easily. Blue collar dollars meet off road grit at the Franklin Truck league. Only at Don Franklin Auto. You're pretty good at this usually. Tell me people from Adair County, Columbia, athletes or. Or citizens.
Ryan Lemon
Oh, the best athlete I can think of is Steve Hamilton. Ended up pitching for the New York Yankees. I know him when he was head baseball coach at Morehead State, if I'm not mistaken. Well, they had Connor Lloyd. He just took the sweet six, Derek county, the sweet sixteen. He's playing now at South Alabama, I think right now. And if. If is Lance Burton.
Drew
Yeah, I was going to add him. Lance Burton, the magician? Yeah.
Matt
Really? I didn't know that. Well, good.
Shannon
He practices magic right outside of Columbia.
Ryan Lemon
Maybe over Lindsay Wilson College.
NordicTrack Announcer
Okay.
Shannon
Wow.
Matt
Well, good. All right.
Ryan Lemon
I have of course, famous golfer Chase Carpenter's here, so.
Shannon
Yeah, that's right. Yeah.
Matt
Y.
Drew
Who.
Matt
Who I think can shoot 85 at any given point. All right, so let's talk for a second a couple non sports stories. Shannon, I'll start with you. Have you heard the controversy about Campbell soup? No. How many of you all have ever had a can of Campbell soup?
Ryan Lemon
Oh my.
Matt
Yeah, everybody has.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah.
Matt
The Campbell Soup CEO is under fire. Would you like to know why?
Shannon
Yes.
Matt
He was recorded on tape by one of his employees who was suing him for something. Recorded saying two things. One, everybody that eats Campbell's soup is poor. And then number two, saying I would never eat our. I would never eat our chicken. It comes from a 3D printer.
Shannon
Oh, my gosh. Well, this may be the last time I read Campbell's chicken noodle soup.
Ryan Lemon
3D printer.
Matt
Vice. It was somebody high up. It was not I may be wrong about CEO. Maybe it was executive vice president, somebody high up, so she sued the company for something else. But as the evidence that came out, Campbell Soup released a statement that said if that's true, if that's real, it's obviously not what. It's not what we think. I would hope it's not what you think. And. But he's still not been fired yet. The person that did it. What do you think about. First of all, do you agree with his characterization of Campbell Soup? It's chicken and. And its people.
Shannon
And it's 3D printed is the biggest thing that came from that.
Matt
What does that even mean? How do you 3D print?
Shannon
I didn't know you could 3D print food. Is this something that on that?
Matt
I hope not.
Shannon
Maybe it's not even really food. I think that's the last time I probably eat that. I can't believe this guy still has a job. And why would you say that out loud?
Matt
You know, you could think like a one on one.
Ryan Lemon
I don't care.
Shannon
He still said it out loud to somebody. You know, that it could be recorded. That was a really stupid move, Ryan.
Ryan Lemon
I mean, growing up when you got sick, you had a can of Campbell's chicken noodle soup. It was kind of all of our childhood growing up. And for this guy to be a vice president or CEO, whatever, he's representing that company. I don't care if you're in a one on one conversation. You still got to believe.
Matt
Remember now it is alleged. He said with the tape. She. She brought it up, said there's apparel tape.
Ryan Lemon
Wow.
Matt
Yeah. But so I mean, it is worth noting. I'm just telling you the story. I. I didn't hear it.
Ryan Lemon
Tape don't lie.
Matt
Well, I mean that's. Be careful saying that as we get into the AI world.
Shannon
But we're guaranteed humans. I heard the promo today.
Matt
Yes.
Drew
I disagree with their product is for pores. I think everyone has had Campbell soup.
Matt
I like Campbell super did. Until the. Until I thought their chicken may be from a printer.
Drew
That being said as much as I love that chicken noodle soup, I've always wondered what mystery meat I'm eating when I have that. That is not chicken.
Shannon
Outside of chicken noodle soup, what is it like cream of mushroom they had.
Matt
That's good.
Ryan Lemon
Tomato.
Drew
Tomato.
Shannon
But you know, chicken noodle was the. The only one I ever really had.
Matt
Speaking of things in cans, I am told that yesterday at the I heart Thanksgiving lunch, which I had to miss due to. Due to the funeral, I Am told that Shannon, for the potluck, brought one can of unopened green beans.
Drew
That's true.
Shannon
That's a lot more effort than I usually put into it. Usually, I only bring my appetite.
Matt
You didn't even open the can. Well, did you just set the can on the table?
Shannon
That way, you know it's a canned good. They said bring a can good, and you can. You can eat at the I heart.
Matt
Oh, so the canned good was for, like, charity? It wasn't. Well, actual eat. It wasn't for the people.
Shannon
It was for the people. I just.
Matt
Here's the thing.
Shannon
They had two other dishes full of green beans, and I said, why do you need my green beans? We already have two dishes of green beans.
Matt
But you know that. You didn't know that before you got there?
Shannon
No, but I just wanted to show that there was an effort there, that I did bring something.
Matt
But is that really an effort to bring just a unopened.
Shannon
Look, look, mister, don't act like you've never showed up to Thanksgiving dinner. And you didn't bring anything either in years past. I know you didn't.
Matt
But see, I would argue that bringing nothing, Drew, is better than bringing an unopened. Like a. Literally a can green. What are they supposed to even do with it?
Shannon
Well, there was no can opener. It's not my fault. Somebody had a can opener. I could open them up, put them in the microwave. Boom, we got green beans.
Drew
I with you. If you don't bring anything, you can act surprised that it's going on.
Matt
Oh, I didn't know I was supposed to bring something. You all mind?
Drew
I'm sorry. Do you mind if I partake? But you actually, like, thought it out.
Shannon
And still you don't want to eat anything. I cook. I can promise you that. I was actually doing everybody a favor. You should be thanking me. I'm really a hero.
Drew
People that worked hard and brought dishes.
Matt
I genuinely thought in all my days of hearing potluck meals, Ryan, bringing an unopened can of green beans was the worst contribution I've ever heard.
Ryan Lemon
It was.
Shannon
It was pot bad luck for them. They didn't get any green beans for me.
Ryan Lemon
And we can all can visualize it. Shannon walking down the hallway. All right, I got my side dish. Put it on the table.
Matt
Load me up.
Ryan Lemon
Where's my plate?
Shannon
It's all good.
Ryan Lemon
I'm good.
Drew
We had.
Shannon
We had plenty of food. Like, there was so many leftovers. Why contribute to more food being thrown away?
Drew
Did you let someone else do it?
Matt
Did you take the can home?
Shannon
No, it's still there.
Matt
So now somebody has to deal with it.
Shannon
It's probably right there with Rick. Rick, is that can still there?
Matt
Still right here.
Shannon
So if you get hungry, Rick, there's.
Drew
Some green beans.
Ryan Lemon
Opener with me. That's your problem.
Matt
Rick, got a curiosity. What did you bring to the meal?
Ryan Lemon
I wasn't able to make it, so.
Shannon
I didn't bring anything.
Matt
Okay. That's better contribution than what Shannon. Than what Shannon did. Second, did you hear about what happened, Ryan, at Arizona State University last weekend?
Ryan Lemon
Tell me about it.
Matt
So they went to a bar at Arizona State that is known for letting in underage kids, like kids under 21 to be able to drink. And the police showed up. And, you know, sometimes they'll do this to, like, take the fake IDs or whatever. The Tempe, Arizona police went further. They arrested 249 students at once for. For drinking underage. There are great pictures online of all of these students just sitting there crying. They end up releasing all of them, but they all got a. They all got booked. I think they got processed and arrested. I don't know if they just, like, brought buses and took them all to. I. I don't know how literally they got the. All of them to the. To the thing, but they essentially arrested the entire bar. The bar owner gave a statement where he was like, this is ridiculous. How am I supposed to keep this bar open if people know that 250 people get arrested? And my answer to him would be, don't let in 250 people who. Who are underage. But what do you make of 250 people being arrested at the same bar at the same time for underage drinking?
Ryan Lemon
You know, there's always that one bar you kind of sneak in, but somebody to let 250 people in in one night. The bouncer, Whoever's checking those IDs must be blind. He's not doing his job out there. Well, I blame him.
Matt
Or they don't even try. But what do you. What do you think of that?
Drew
I saw the video. It's madness how they just do that big bust and get everybody.
Matt
Did you see how. I never saw. How did they take them to the.
Drew
J. Yeah, I saw a lot of guys with, like, the. The zip ties. I guess it was just going around and slapping them on.
Ryan Lemon
Everybody in the back of the paddy wagon, like, let's go.
Shannon
How do you keep that bar open? I mean, it has to shut down.
Matt
Yeah, 249 is a lot. I mean, that's.
Shannon
Yeah. It's one thing to let one or two slide through.
Matt
Yeah, that's a lot. Well, I do think he will have a hard time getting the crowd going forward. Who's up next?
Ryan Lemon
Johnny Versace is up next.
Matt
Johnny Versace. It's Kentucky Louisville week. I expected to hear from you. What's up?
Caller
You know, Matt, Vince Merrill is dead to me.
Matt
Hey, what do you mean he's dead to you? He's like, he gave a lot of years here. Are you like, are you completely just. He's done.
Caller
Yeah.
Drew
You can't.
Caller
You can't go to Louisville.
Matt
I'm.
Caller
What I'm here to tell you is Stoops is going into that half empty pink seat Hellscape on Saturday and put Braum firmly on the. On the hot seat.
Matt
Well, that's a good question, Johnny, about attendance. I mean, I actually think this might be a sad attendance at noon. Neither team's fan base really wants to go. You know, I'm with you. I actually think it could be bad. Appreciate the call. They, you know, Brahm, I'm not. I don't think Brahms on the hot seat, Ryan. But like if he were to lose this game and they finished the season with four straight losses and all their team quits, it would not be good for Jeffrey.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah, they've lost three in a row. And you're right. If they show up and quit and don't give effort, kind of like what we did last year to them, his name is still out there for like Penn State, like some other jobs. He may lose that opportunity.
Matt
And one of their top recruits is from the city of Louisville. Grew up a Louisville fan from St. X and just decommitted from the school from the city of Louisville, which, you know, Drew, that's kind of. That's kind of wild.
Drew
Yeah. Mary Flipmas on that commitment. His parents were Louisville season ticket holders for a long time. Might still be. So that's a tough look for him. People are mad when he went and got Miller Moss. There are a lot of people like, this guy's not good. Why are we doing this? I guess he thought he could turn him into something that's been a big disappointment. I'm not too in tune with how Louisville fans feel, but it seems like they're really starting to turn a little bit or sour on Braum at least for a year.
Matt
Can we talk about something, Ryan, that I just want to throw out there?
Ryan Lemon
Throw it.
Matt
You know, I. I don't want to be no bad mojo. It's Louisville week. But this is the Last show we're doing before the game on Saturday until the pregame show. I'm hearing maybe through the grapevine that there were some people that didn't love Mark Stoops coming out and saying Cutter Bowley's 100% pass. I mean, I think that. I think he was. Is very, very likely back, but maybe some people didn't like putting those words into his mouth. And I think it's very interesting that yesterday they did the offensive players press conference before the Louisville game, and virtually every time they do one of these, understandably, the quarterback speaks. The quarterback was not brought out yesterday for the Kentucky Louisville pregame offensive players press conference. You think there's anything to my. The rumblings?
Ryan Lemon
I. We said this on the show. I think it was really unfair to Cutter, kind of throw him under the bus like that. So now all the pressure's on him. If something happens and maybe he doesn't come back, I mean, we're just going to.
Matt
Well, I mean, I think he's going to be back, but if he doesn't come back, Drew.
Ryan Lemon
Yep.
Matt
Mark Stoops really just threw him under the bus by saying that because it's going to look like he changed even though he didn't say anything. I think that was a huge mistake. And I'm going to tell you, whatever happens, that's why he wasn't at that press conference.
Drew
Oh, definitely.
Matt
And. And I like Mark. That was that. He shouldn't have done that, in my opinion. What do you think? Yeah.
Drew
And yesterday should have been the day for Bowley, Was it not? Last year, his first career start was Louisville. He's gone by halftime, had his worst game ever. I mean, this is a redemption week for him. He's the reason, whatever you think of the year, he's the reason at least flipped to be somewhat positive the last few weeks. I mean, that should have been the guy at the podium yesterday, but it's obvious that that rattled some. Some feathers one way or another.
Matt
And if Cutter Bowley had said, shannon, I'm coming back, feel free to say it, Coach, then that's fine. Right. And. And I guess there's a chance he said that, but I kind of heard maybe that's not what happened. That, you know, and if it's not what happened, if you were his parents or you were him, would you be frustrated?
Shannon
Oh, yeah. If I didn't say that to him. And not only say it to him, but let's say. Let's say he did say, yeah, I'm coming back, but say, hey, I don't want you to say that publicly yet. And then Stoops did. That's a bad look. So. Yeah, I don't really know what you gain if you're Mark Stoops and saying that Cutter.
Matt
Well, I know what you gain. You get people off your back for a minute.
Ryan Lemon
That's what it was about.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt
I mean, that's why I did it. Yeah, I'm sure that's why I did it.
Shannon
Either way. Well, it's still a bad look if you're doing it just for that. If you're using. Using another player to get people off your back, that's still a bad look, I think.
Matt
I totally agree. But, Ryan, don't you think that's probably why he did it?
Ryan Lemon
I think that's exactly why he did it. Look, I'm. My quarterback is coming back. He said he was going to, you know, come back for another year, so I am, too.
Shannon
We don't know if he's kept. We don't know if Stoops is coming back next year.
Drew
And here.
Matt
Well, I mean, Stoops may know or may think.
Shannon
Well, yeah, he may think.
Ryan Lemon
He knows.
Shannon
May not be his decision.
Ryan Lemon
If you're.
Drew
Stoops needs Bowley back. If he's back.
Ryan Lemon
If you're Cutter and you're meeting with your head coach the week before the Louisville game, what are you going to say when he has to talk? You guys are talking like, no, coach. I'm thinking about exploring my options after next year.
Matt
I would say this the worst possible scenario for UK football I could imagine is Mark Stoops coming back and Cutter Bowley transfer. That would be the worst. Mark Stoops coming back with Cutter Bowley. It is what it is. Some of us think that should happen. Some of us should. Cutter Bowley come back. No Mark Stoops or no Cutter or no Mark Stoops. All of those can work. But Mark coming back with no Cutter Drew, this fan base will be not happy.
Drew
And you gotta think, you know, I don't love the young offense as much as Ryan. I'm not going to call him young and hot and start sweating talking about him here, even though you are cooking there for a minute. But a lot of those guys that we like that are a big part of the future are bowling guys. Gilmore, Rodriguez. Oh, and I kind of see it as if he comes back, they come back. But if he were to leave, leave.
Matt
There'S a little one and unknown. There's a lot of people that tell you Willie Rodriguez, Cutter Bowley are like whatever happens, they're doing it together. And so that's that's a big one.
Drew
That's how it was with the three of them in high school. Were very close before they even got to campus.

Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live. Don Franklin Auto 859-280-2287. Let's go through a couple scheduled things real quick. Pregame show Today starts at 4:30 Eastern. Game is at 7 o'.
Ryan Lemon
Clock.
Matt
It'll be at KS Bar. Come on out and join us before the game. You can come watch the game at the bar as well. If you got your family home from Thanksgiving, you can get out of the house for a little bit. Go watch the game. I'll have some tickets to give away during the pregame show as well. And then fast forward to Saturday. Our pregame show will be at 9am okay. For Kentucky, Louisville. So it'll be at 9am so keep that in mind for Saturday. I'm gonna have you all do the legal question. Are you ready? This is not what the law is. What would it be if you could decide it? Okay.
Ryan Lemon
Courts in session.
Matt
There's an election in Tennessee next week for Congress. It's next Tuesday. Okay. And the election is in a district that's very pro Trump. But for whatever reason, this election's gonna be close. It's a special election for Congress, so both sides are really mobilizing for it. The the Republican candidate, one of the groups supporting him sent out election flyers this week that set that acted like they were for the Democrat say, but said go vote and then gave a date to a week later. So the election was like it's gonna be like the fourth. And it said if you want to vote for whatever the Democrats name was, come vote on the 11th. Now here's my question for you. It is unclear. I won't go into law, but it's unclear whether that's legal. It's not certain that it's illegal, but it's also not certain that it's legal. So here's my. My question for you is if you were in charge, do you think sending out. Intentionally sending out the wrong date to vote and acting like it was your opponent that did it should be legal? Shannon.
Shannon
Yeah, it should be legal. You should be able to do that. That's called gamesmanship. If you don't know when election day is, that is on you for being a bad citizen. You should know when election day is. You know, you don't go vote on the 11th for election day, so it should be legal.
Matt
Okay. Do you remember when we talked to Ryan before every election about who he's going to vote for?
Ryan
Yeah.
Matt
You would probably believe that flyer, wouldn't you?
Ryan Lemon
A lot of things. I vote on what I get in the mail and what sign I see out in the yard. So if I get something in the mail tells me it's on 11th, I think it's on the 11th.
Shannon
Then you're the target demo.
Matt
No, no, this is the target demo right here. Yeah.
Shannon
A bunch of buffoons.
Ryan Lemon
So that's why I'm saying that's election fraud. They're trying to fraudulently, you know, create a situation where I think it's the wrong date. That's fraud.
Matt
Okay, so Shannon is legal.
Shannon
Make it legal.
Matt
Ryan is illegal. So I will let the final vote come to Frank. Do. Is this legal or illegal?
Drew
We don't need Frank. Drew, answer this one. This is easy. I'm with Shannon. If you can't figure out election day on your own, I'd rather you not vote anyway.
Matt
Yeah.
Drew
Like, if you're falling for a flyer, I mean, that's on you. So I think it's a great tactic, actually.
Matt
All right, so I will. I. I lean towards you all with one exception. I think what would make it make me.
Ryan Lemon
Me.
Matt
Make it illegal is that he acted like the other guy said it. Right? Like, if he just. So he. He literally acted like he was the other person. And that's the part I don't like. Like telling the wrong date. I'm kind of with you.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt
If you don't know what the date is, yeah. That's on you. But to act like. Like for me to go, ryan Lemon says it's this date, and it's me that's saying it. That's the part that I think is kind of fraudulent.
Shannon
So the person I potentially could vote for doesn't even know the election date in this.
Matt
And you're basically lying, and you're basically. So I would say now, if you just sent it generically and just said, remember to go vote and you had that date, then I'm fine with it.
Shannon
We live in a world of AI where you gotta, like, you know, make sure that, you know it's legit when you look at something and that's your responsibility.
Matt
Literally saw the story. This was. The person that I thought this was would happen to is you.
Ryan Lemon
I make up my mind who I'm voting for as I drive to the polling place.
Matt
You acknowledge it's how many signs you see.
Shannon
Yeah, but you wouldn't question why you're voting a week later, after election day.
Ryan Lemon
I guess I would pull up when nothing's there. I think I might realize, wait, well.
Matt
But I mean, the election would have finished a week before. Presumably you would have seen that it was over.
Drew
Well, he would have heard on the pre show who won.
Matt
Whoa. You like that?
Ryan Lemon
Good.
Matt
Who's up next? Go ahead, Seth.
Caller
Hey, guys. Hey, guys. How you doing?
Matt
Yeah, don't ask. Remember, we just. Just go. Yes.
Caller
Okay. My thing you guys were talking about earlier about, like, the power forward position for basketball Cam Williams. I think Andre Yitzch needs to get more run at that spot. And then what do you think?
Matt
What do you think about that? Go ahead, finish what you're saying.
Caller
Yeah. And also, you guys were talking about Jaden Clayton and Jalen Lowe would help with some of our issues. Jalen Lowe last year was a top 10 point guard last year when it came to pick and rolls. And we, like, we ran so many pick and rolls, and we need to get back to some of the zoom action.
Matt
You don't have to convince me on Jalen Lowe. I mean, to me, if Jalen Lowe doesn't come back, I mean, I'm going to enjoy the season and hope the good things happen. But my chances of this being a special year go way down if we lose Jalen Lowe. What about yellow Vic at the 4? Drew, I mean, appreciate the call. What about yellow Vich at the 4?
Drew
I've been predicting for two weeks his breakthrough is coming. I'm a little behind, but I want to see a lot more of him. And the caller said he needs to get more run. I think he's running a lot in practice. He was touching the top of the building when we were at both practices. Pope called him out Saturday by name, said he's going to be running in practice. So he's still getting the hang of a lot of things. He was interviewed yesterday and said, I'm literally Learning and getting better each day as he's getting acclimated, everything. So I'm still counting on there being more there, and tonight's a good night to give him an opportunity.
Matt
Here's what I'm excited about. Yellow Bitch. When I watch Big Z play. And, I mean, it's just natural we compare him because same country, right. I never really felt like Big Z was ever going to be 100% comfortable on the court. And even now at Illinois, he's not starting like, it's. But Yellow Bitch, you can see it, right? Like, he can. He can slide his feet. You can see him playing defense at this level and not looking out of place. So I do think that's a possibility. It can work.
Ryan Lemon
He's much better on the defensive end, I think, than most of us thought. He was guarding the one a couple times and did a good job staying in front of the guy.
Matt
He may not shoot as well as, say, Big Z did, but in terms of being able to play on defense, I actually think he's got a lot more potential in that regard. We'll take a break and be right back here at Don Franklin in Columbia's ksr. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here at Don Franklin Ford in Columbia. Don Franklin, as I said, if you buy a vehicle here at Don Franklin Columbia today, two years of free maintenance today, if you do it. So any of you here or if you're in the area, come on and join us. I have to tell you how much I love Ryan Lemon. This is it. This is an example why I love Ryan Lemon. We're sitting there watching the game last night at the bar, and Ryan Lemon goes. He shows me his phone, and he goes, look who just texted me. And so, of course, I would think it would be, like, a person, you know, somebody knows. And it was this text that said, hi, I'm Senator Mark Kelly, blah, blah, blah, Donald Trump's coming after me. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, send money here. But the way Ryan said it acted like he thought he had literally just texted, like, his senator in Arizona.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt
Like, hey, you know who I should ask for help? Ryan Lemon. And then, so you just came in here this morning, and he just looked at me, and he goes, you know that guy that texted me? He was on Jimmy Kimmel last night. I was like, ryan, it's like the head news story in America right now. Like, it's the number one news story. Why are you so surprised? And I love that about you. I love this sort of your head is like, this guy Texted me and now he's on tv. I like that about you. You just. You're so happy. I like that. Makes me happy.
Ryan Lemon
I had never heard of this guy. I knew nothing about the story. After I get the text you're telling me about him. He's on Jimmy Kimmel. It's the lead news story this morning on all the news reports. Like, I never heard of this guy like you.
Shannon
Yeah.
Ryan Lemon
You may send me another text today.
Shannon
Definitely was not a bot or anything.
Matt
It was definitely not a generic text. This. He.
Shannon
He.
Ryan Lemon
Way too many words in that text, though. There was a lot of words. I didn't get through all.
Shannon
Did you donate?
Ryan Lemon
Oh, no.
Shannon
Oh, okay.
Drew
I saw you streamed a game or anything.
Matt
Question if he had streamed a game.
Ryan Lemon
I'm donating.
Matt
Saturday. Is Lane Kiffin a Ole Miss Rebel? Is he an LSU Tiger or is he a Florida Gator Ole Miss Rebel?
Shannon
I think he stays where he's at right there. I think that's a good spot where it's not too much pressure, but it's still a good program. I think he stays where he is.
Matt
True.
Drew
I'm really torn. I could see him staying, but LSU has put so much money out there. I will lean lsu, but if I were him, I would really consider staying put. Just because the expectations at each place.
Ryan Lemon
Eileen, LSU to 15 million. They just recently won a national title. You got a chance to win one when you go over there. I don't know if they can get over the hump at Ole Miss. He's got him in the playoffs, but can you win a national title? He can at lsu. I think he's going there.
Matt
I think he's going to lsu, too. I think if he was. If he was going to stay, I think the comments from the ad about let's get through the egg bowl, etc. So. All right, so let's say the three of us are correct and he goes to lsu. Does he coach Ole Miss through the playoff?
Shannon
I would hope so. I mean. Yeah.
Matt
Would you want him.
Shannon
Yeah, he's still the guy who got you there.
Matt
Okay, so you would want him to coach your team all the way through the play?
Shannon
Yes.
Matt
Okay. What about.
Drew
Definitely he can't go to LSU to win a national championship when he's literally coaching for a national championship now. I mean, it's unlikely, but he could have one in a couple months at Ole Miss. So he. He couldn't leave them in the playoff if they're not. If they fall out of the playoff and they're just in a regular bowl, maybe, but not as long as they.
Matt
Beat Mississippi State, though. They're going to be in the playoff, I think.
Drew
Can't walk away from the opportunity to win one there.
Ryan Lemon
Drew's exactly right. You got to see this through. It's going to be tough because, like, he's going to be trying to recruit while at lsu. He may have a lot of sleepless nights, but it's. You made the bed, man. Now you got to lay in it.
Matt
Right now. It's projected that Ole Miss would host a playoff game at in Oxford when they announce his name if he is going to lsu. Will the crowd cheer if hosts a playoff game after he's already announced he's going to lsu?
Shannon
That's a great question. And again, another awkward situation. I could see there being a good mix of both. I think some fans would cheer him because they appreciate the fact that they're in the playoffs.
Matt
First time they've been in this situation since 1960 or something.
Shannon
I could also see the other end of the spectrum where there's fans that are upset that he's leaving.
Matt
Would you cheer him if you were there? Like, if this situation. Would you go, all right, let's go?
Shannon
Yeah. Yeah, I think so.
Matt
Mark Stoops gets us to a playoff game, but announces before the game he's going to go coach at Ohio State next year. Are you cheering?
Shannon
Absolutely.
Drew
Yeah, definitely. They got to cheer for him.
Matt
I mean, if they're Arkansas. We didn't cheer for Cal then.
Shannon
Yeah, but he lost the St. Peters in Oakland first round. Yeah.
Matt
In fact, he won us a national championship.
Shannon
Yeah, we forgot about that. It was a long time ago.
Matt
He didn't leave.
Drew
Leave actively while it's in front of him.
Matt
That's true. He didn't leave.
Drew
You still have the goal in front of you.
Matt
He didn't leave, like, right after he won a national championship. This is like the peak of playing Kiffin.
Drew
He left off for that after that awkward Mitch Barnhart interview, which is also on my list.
Matt
Yeah.
Ryan Lemon
If our football coach gets us to the playoffs, he can go wherever he wants. And I want to pat him on the back and kiss him on the cheek and say, good luck. Go out there. Go do it.
Matt
All right. So. So, so you all. We think the lsu. You think Ole Miss.
Shannon
Yes.
Ryan
Yeah.
Matt
Well, we'll find out who's next.
Ryan Lemon
Carl is up next.
Matt
Carl. Go ahead, Carl.
Caller
Yeah, Matt, are you aware that Jesse Jane robbed the bank to Columbia there in. On the square in Columbia?
Matt
I actually had heard that before one of the trips here. I Think someone told me that.
Drew
Yeah.
Caller
The bank ain't no longer there, but Jesse shot a hole in the wall, and for years, nobody passed that hole. I don't want it. That.
Matt
That's where I remember. I do remember that. It's. It's allegedly they kept that hole for a while. That sounds like a wives tale, but I'll. I'll believe it.
Caller
Yeah, well, I. I've seen the hole years ago, but I don't know about now whether it's still there or not.
Matt
Did you. All right, well, if you say so. I'm not gonna question you.
Caller
All right.
Drew
Thank you.
Matt
All right. There you go.
Shannon
I want to tell you about the hole.
Matt
Yeah, listen, it's strange that we would like those facts, although I do think. I feel like we talk about this with Abraham Lincoln. There's, like, 20 towns in this state that claim something about Abraham Lincoln. And then there's like 150 cities or maybe 200 around America that claim Jesse James. Right. Something in their town. I mean, these. These people act like these are very.
Shannon
Prolific, and it seems like for a criminal, people seem to really love Jesse James. I mean, he shot up a bank, and we're gonna keep the whole. We don't want to patch the whole up because it's Jesse James.
Matt
But there is weird. Like, sometimes in America, criminals get. I mean, think about the dude up in New York, the Luigi guy. Like it. Like, I mean, he did something awful, yet there's people who celebrate him. Like, I mean, I. You know, sometimes I guess people just do that.
Ryan Lemon
I think Abraham Lincoln and Jesse James must have been in every single town in this state.
Drew
State.
Ryan Lemon
One did good, one did bad. Then they go to the next state. It seems like they're all over the place.
Matt
I think I just said that. Yeah. I mean, almost the exact. Almost the exact same thing.
Drew
Do you think the people that were shot at are proud that they're honoring the hole? Like, that could have killed me. And you're celebrating this.
Shannon
Should we go find the hole after the show today?
Matt
Yeah, that wouldn't be. I don't.
Drew
Like, they probably didn't find it very funny.
Shannon
Like, it could have been your stomach.
Matt
Or your head if the city of Louisville made the, like, shots behind Craig.
Shannon
Yeah, that's what I was saying. It's weird.
Matt
I know Craig would be like, hang on.
Shannon
He's like, yeah, let's not patch that up. Let's keep that there as a reminder.
Matt
I think they should patch it up. Who's next?
Ryan Lemon
Dylan is next.
Matt
Dylan. Go ahead, Dylan.
Caller
Hey, Matt. First time caller here who I got a question. So like, like the biggest thing for me about with Stoops is I, I feel like as a fan base we accept like mediocrity. So like what sets the rest of the SEC up for success is like they. Their expectations as a fan base as a whole. So like, my question is, do you think like, if we keep Stoops, do you think we ever have a chance at like, say, the playoffs or anything like that?
Matt
That's a loaded question. So I appreciate the call. Do I think that we have a chance at the playoff if Mark Stoops were to come back? Probably not. But I also would say to you that there have been years in Mark Stoops tenure where we would have been a contender for the playoff. There would have been two years where Kentucky would have been either in the playoff or like one of the first couple teams left at. Do I have confidence that where the program is now and in the current structure that Mark would do that? Probably not. But I also don't think you can just act like he never would have had a shot at that. I also would say this about programs and I think this is really important. Ryan, you've heard me say this over and over. College football is a different sport today, completely different sport today than it was four years ago. Four years ago I would have looked at you and said Kentucky has no chance of ever being a contender. I said it for years. It's a different world now. It's a different world. With nil, it's like a salary cap in, in the NFL, if it was a free market, the Kansas City Chiefs could never be dominant. But in the NFL there's a salary cap cap. So with a salary cap, you can get a guy like Mahomes and the Chiefs can be good for 15 straight years. I think Kentucky football, do I think it has as good a chance as lsu, Alabama? Of course not. There's a reason Kiffin's considering leaving Ole Miss for lsu. But as Vandy and Indiana have shown us in this new world, we actually have a chance. And because we actually have a chance, then I think you have to pick a coach that you think will give you that chance. I'm not sure if Stoops is that guy, but my expectations, Ryan, of what can be done have changed here dramatically in the Nile era.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah. At this point in time, our program is not anywhere close to making the playoffs.
Matt
No.
Ryan Lemon
But who's to say they can't get a Diego Pavio at one year and maybe ride him to a playoff run at some point. I mean, he got us to nine wins in a regular season twice. Who's to say you can't do it again with the right, with the right personnel?
Matt
I mean, those two years we won nine games, Drew. There were games in those seasons where it could have gone the other way. And a 10 win Kentucky team has a really good chance at a playoff. So why not?
Drew
You know, I'm with you, but Stoops is good years. We're in the recruit and develop era. Like our best players were freshmen that he developed. Some guys he took gambles on like a Lynn Bowden that, you know, had some issues in high school and he took a chance. But now the world has completely change and since it's changed, we are way behind and I don't think there's any ignoring that. The door opened for teams a couple years ago and Vandy and Indiana jumped right in and we kicked around and we're still not where we need to be. I mean, Stoops kind of said this week without saying it that the money ain't great. He said there's a lot of teams out there with money right now and we're not.
Matt
He's right. Listen, I'm not saying Stoop's the right guy, but I do. This is the first time in my life that I felt like with the right guy you could build a program.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah.
Matt
Because I never felt that way before. I actually think that is potentially true now. But guess what? It's true for all these schools though.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah.
Matt
You know what I mean? Like it's it all the. Every school has a chance now. I actually think the NIL has done the exact opposite of what people thought. People thought it was going to separate the programs. I think it's actually brought them closer together. I think it's given people a chance that they wouldn't have had other. Shh.
Matt
We're doing a show here.
Shannon
You almost made it to the end without getting shushed.
Matt
Well, tell him to. Bob, turn your voice down. Don't encourage him, sir. Bogo. B O g O at Cornbread Hemp. Okay, let's go. We're gonna pick our draftkings parlay. Ryan has been booted from the parlay for losing it yet again. We've won two. We would have won three if Ryan wasn't in it. So he's out. So Billy's gonna replace him. I'm gonna go first this week. I went last last week. I'm going to take Auburn or. Excuse me. Alabama is giving up six and a half at Auburn. But they got to make. They have to win to make the playoff. They're going to win. Auburn's going to quit halfway through the game. So I will take Alabama to cover the six and a half and win in the iron Bowl. Shannon.
Drew
Auburn was my pick.
Shannon
Yeah, that's the one I was gonna go with as well.
Matt
So you were gonna go Alabama or Auburn?
Shannon
Alabama. I'm with you. I think that's a good pick. All right, let me jump over to Clemson. South Carolina. I don't have the point spread. I think that was like three for Clemson.
Matt
Three and a half for South Carolina.
Shannon
Yeah. So give me. Give me Clemson on the road with the points.
Matt
You like that one? Yeah. I don't know. All right, so you're taking clips in the COVID Three and a half on the road. Drew.
Drew
Billy, do you have yours? I was going with Auburn.
Matt
I do have mine. And this is the team that ruined.
Shannon
The parlay last week. I'm taking pit at home plus seven versus Miami.
Matt
I'm okay with that one. I'll tell you what. Since you don't even like my pick, let me switch. I'll. We'll get rid of Alabama, Auburn. I'll take big on Auburn. I'll take Tennessee to cover against Vegas. Tennessee's at home. I think they're going to cover against Vandy games in Rocky Top. Diego Pavia's mom got a little too saucy for mainstream America last week, so she'll take it down a notch. And I'm going to take Tennessee to cover against Vandy. So we will boot Auburn, Alabama out of it.
Drew
I like that one. I'm going. I'm going with the dog and the egg Bowl. Mississippi State at home getting a touchdown. Lane Kiffin's got a foot out the door. Mississippi State's played a lot of close games. This is one of those rivalries where it doesn't matter what they've done all year, it is always a war. I will go with Mississippi State getting a touchdown at home on Thanksgiving.
Matt
All right, thank you very much.
Drew
No, wait, that's a. We're doing Saturday games. I'm sorry, that's. That's before. Let me do Missouri getting or two and a half. Missouri's a two and a half point favorite at Arkansas. I'll take Missouri.
Matt
Drew did say before we started, Shannon, he had plenty of picks.
Drew
Well, I had Auburn and then I had that one in Missouri's other ones. So I'm going to my third. They're. They're a 2 1/2 point favorite against Arkansas.
Matt
I like Missouri. So I guess we have Missouri, pit, Tennessee and what was your Shannon?
Ryan
Clemson.
Matt
Clemson. All right, Missouri, pit, Tennessee and Clemson. Thank you very much, Billy. All right, let's talk about the Kentucky games. We'll start with the basketball game. First of all, the women's team plays tonight as well. I think they're at 6:30. Is that right? 5:30.
Ryan Lemon
In Puerto Rico.
Matt
They're in Puerto Rico. Somehow this game is not on television or it's on something called Flow Sports, which is not something I think I have, but they're playing against a Big Ten team playing against Maryland. So good luck to them. But let's go to the basketball game. What do you think the score is tonight?
Ryan Lemon
John Pelford bringing Tennessee Tech in. I think the spread was like 37, and it may be worse than that. I think I'm going to go 104 to 65, 39 points.
Drew
All right, the women are 530 on Flow Sports. For all you Flow Sports subscribers, Cats won't get to 100, but I'll say they get close. 96, 62. And Walker Horn gets his first career points tonight. He's been so close. I love. He does not. He'll shoot.
Matt
You big Walker Horn fan. You gave. But you're the only person I've ever seen give Walker Horn applause. You just like to clap. Okay.
Drew
Some people go in there and dribble and milk the clock. He's out there firing.
Matt
Some people enjoy clapping. I like that. All right, go ahead.
Ryan Lemon
All right.
Shannon
I'm gonna say 84, 45 cats. Blowout.
Matt
I'm gonna say 94, 57 cats. Let's go to the football big game. I mean, the post game show on Saturday. I don't know what I'm gonna be dealing with. We might be dealing with celebrating a big victory and a bowl game. We might be dealing with a close loss. We might be dealing with a fan base that is in revolt. I mean, there's absolutely no way what it's gonna to know what it's gonna be like Saturday. What do you think is going to happen there in Lowell?
Ryan Lemon
I'll pick Kentucky a winner. I'm going to pick 24, 21. Come down to the final minutes. Maybe Callaway gets the big field. Go late in the game to put us ahead 24, 20.
Matt
Do you, like, legitimately believe that? Is that a bullet? Okay.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah.
Matt
All right. What do you think?
Drew
I wish I could see our availability report. That's going to tell the whole story. I'm going to assume more guys played than they did a week ago and that Louisville's in shambles. I'll say 3,000, 120. Kentucky.
Matt
Oh, that's a big victory. Okay.
Drew
I've already bet the alternate spread as high as it'll go.
Matt
All right, good. Shannon.
Shannon
I think it's going to be a good game and battle who. Who wants it more? I'm going to say Kentucky wins 23, 20.
Matt
Yeah. I don't know. I mean, I think we could kill them and I think they could kill us. I think it's all going to be a mindset in terms of who wants to be on there, who wants to win it. I think the teams are relatively equal now that Louisville's lost a lot of guys. So. So I think it's just going to depends on how excited they are. I think whoever's winning at the end of the first quarter wins the game going away. So I'm going to say that's us. So I'm going to pick us to win 30 to 17, but I also think it could easily be 30 to 17 the other way. I think it's going to be completely whoever somebody's quitting in this game in the second half and the question is just which team quits and then I think that will be ultimately what decides it. Big weekend tonight. We'll have the pregame and post game. We will also have Saturday. Thank you folks here in Columbia very much for coming out. A great crowd right before Thanksgiving here at Don Franklin. We'll see you at 4:30 for the pregame. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
