Drew
Don't say back.
Matt Jones
Oh, yeah, the back could have your front. You, you. How's it hanging in there?
Drew
I made it in here. I'm doing all right. I've gotten to where I can walk. I literally, the last two days, I couldn't take three steps. I've just been in bed stuck. But I was able to walk today, and here I am. I know I said, ready to play through the pain.
Matt Jones
I know I said this yesterday, but if you've never had that, it is the absolute worst. Like, it's the worst. I'm sure their pain, like, you know, people say, like, we have a baby, it hurts. I don't know, but. But allegedly, I mean, they say. And I. And, you know, just thinking about the mechanics of it, I could see how it would hurt. Just, you know, just. I get it. It's not impossible. But I would say for a male, I can't think of too many things that hurt worse than what you had and what I've had now three times, because it's awful. Now you, Ryan, are also okay. You did. I hear you ran into the back of a parked salt truck.
Ryan Lemond
You know, I've been doing this show with you for 14 years, and I've rear ended two vehicles, a Maserati and a salt truck.
Drew
Oh, my goodness.
Matt Jones
Okay. You know, listen, I. I had not been in a wreck until about a month and a half ago, so I'm not trying to, like, give you a hard time. My wreck was my fault. So I'm not, I'm not trying to give you a hard time, but how do you hit a parked salt truck?
Ryan Lemond
It was at a stop sign, which is a kind of down an incline to get to it. As soon as I hit my brakes, man, I started sliding. There was no stopping it. I just Slid right into the back of it.
Matt Jones
Now it looks like in your car on the picture, you slid under it.
Ryan Lemond
It did pretty much.
Matt Jones
That could have been a lot worse.
Ryan Lemond
Yes, it could have. It kind of slid and turned a little bit, thank goodness, or I would have just hit it. Slid right underneath it. So. But Paul, how do you get my rescue.
Matt Jones
How do you get insured for cars? Because, I mean, you, you have a history.
Ryan Lemond
It's expensive. I'm not going to lie. It's a little expensive. And when I, I called my insurance guy, you know, Tim from Pow County.
Matt Jones
Apparently, like, he has you on speed dial. He knows.
Ryan Lemond
He's like, why don't. Can't you hit a Ford Pinto or something? Why you got to hit the expensive vehicles?
Matt Jones
So you, you messed up the salt truck.
Ryan Lemond
Didn't even, not even a scratch.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Ryan Lemond
It's like a tank. Because you did.
Matt Jones
You did like total. That Maserati, though.
Ryan Lemond
That was just the back bumper. The $30,000 back bumper on the Maserati that I hit.
Matt Jones
Wow.
Drew
Makes them count.
Matt Jones
Yeah. If you're going. If you're going to wreck, you're going to make it count.
Drew
Well, I like to put out that social media video. And he said there's a minor fender bender. That doesn't sound like a minor fender bender hitting an assault truck.
Matt Jones
I mean, anytime you go under a truck like that, like that, that could have been bad. Well, I'm glad you're okay.
Ryan Lemond
Well, Paul Miller, Ford came to my rescue. Gave me. Do you see the mon. Car I'm driving out there now? I can, I can go over.
Matt Jones
Oh, is that Bronco yours?
Drew
Yes.
Ryan Lemond
I can go over mountains if you want to go four wheeling after the show, you and me, let's go in the mud.
Matt Jones
I. I don't. I think. I don't know if you've recognized this over there. I don't get in the car when you're driving. It's. It's one of my. I have, like, a couple rules. One of the rules is don't let Ryan drive anything.
Ryan Lemond
You let me drive one time on one of our road trips. It was from the parking lot to the gas station, like 50ft. That was it.
Matt Jones
No, there's. There's never a reason to. To let you drive. Well, I'm glad you guys are back. You know, when you were gone, we kind of scrambled, so I had Myron, I had Adam, Adam Luckett. I thought they did great. And then yesterday was old school. Me and Shannon, we were just reading lists of movies and I. Shannon, I got to tell you, I really like that when I started that segment, I thought this is probably not going to be a fan favorite. Oh, I was wrong. People, people now want us to just pick a year of movies and read the top 30. So we'll do that again. Some kind of shit. A lot of fun doing that.
Ryan Lemond
And Ryan and Drew, we also went old school. We did a Facebook birthday shout out.
Matt Jones
We did do Facebook birthday shout out. And that guy, whoever the name was, he wrote me last night and thanked me for the birthday shout out. He was listening. See, so like, you know, there's nothing wrong with the birthday shout out, Ryan. I think it's fine.
Ryan Lemond
Well, I loved it, but I was screaming at the radio. Cuz Toy Story, totally underrated in your poll yesterday that was. I could not believe anything your poll said. If you had Toy Story.
Matt Jones
It wasn't my poll, it was the box office returns. I didn't do a poll.
Ryan Lemond
Fake news.
Matt Jones
Well, the reason was if you would listen the whole show. Toy Story came out in 95 and so in 96 it was at the end of its run, which is why it was in 29th. You know, since he mentioned the birthday, let's keep the good vibes. All right, drew one through 14, that's today's birthdays. I'll go with 12.
Drew
Bob.
Matt Jones
12. Let's go down here. Let's give a birthday shout out to Brad Daugherty.
Ryan Lemond
Brad Dougherty, happy birthday.
Matt Jones
Not former Cleveland Cavalier Brad Daugherty, you would think it would be. No, this is Brad Daugherty who went to uk. He lives in Franklin, Kentucky. And happy birthday to him. He has followed also he's friends with Tom Leach. So happy birthday to you and see Shannon, the segment still works.
Ryan Lemond
There we go.
Matt Jones
There we go. I think we got to continue it now. Brad Dougherty is a forgotten NBA player. He's forgotten him. He played for the Cavs. Yes, he was a good center. Played for Wake Forest in college. Am I right about that or no? Carolina. I think he went to Carolina and he owned a NASCAR team. That's the thing that people don't think about. You never see a lot of centers from the NBA who then go and own a NASCAR team. And he was actually a NASCAR announcer for a number of years, which was kind of weird.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, he became a commentator. The guy that like an expert on nascar.
Drew
He's also one of those players where when I was growing up collecting cards, no matter what pack I got, there was a Brad daughter. I feel like he had a card in every pack that was Made.
Matt Jones
All right. We did trivia last night. Packed house, great crowd, a lot of new faces. I enjoyed it.
Ryan Lemond
I heard it was hard last night.
Matt Jones
It was one of my harder ones. But I was proud of it because I enjoyed doing that last night and I actually had a lot of fun. Thanks everybody. Came out. We'll do another one first full week of January. Couple questions for you all.
Ryan Lemond
All right.
Matt Jones
UK basketball question.
Drew
Ready?
Matt Jones
All right. We got a lot of UK basketball intellects here. All time Kentucky basketball wins over a program. Okay, so the team we've beaten the most over the years. Vandy. We've beaten Vandy more than any other team. But you know, in most of our all time wins, teams we beat the most are in the SEC because we play them the most, etc. Eight schools with official religious affiliations that we've beaten the most at Kentucky. So eight schools with official. And not counting the schools in Kentucky because we've beaten Trancy a lot. And Bellarmine and Kentucky. So take out the schools of Kentucky. What are the eight schools that are religious schools that we have beaten the most? Feel free to make a guess.
Ryan Lemond
Wow.
Matt Jones
Shannon, feel free to jump in if you would like as well.
Ryan Lemond
Oral Roberts.
Matt Jones
Oral Roberts is not on the list. We've played Oral Roberts like twice.
Ryan Lemond
Byu.
Matt Jones
You all are terrible at this. Byu. When's the last time we played byu? Thank you. That's exactly right. Okay, thank you. So that they're not on the list.
Drew
I'm with Shannon. I can't even come up.
Matt Jones
Okay, come on. We've beaten one team.
Drew
Notre Dame.
Matt Jones
Notre Dame.
Drew
There we go.
Matt Jones
38 times. So we should be able to get Notre Dame.
Ryan Lemond
Xavier.
Matt Jones
Xavier is second. We used to play them every year back in the long time agos and they're the top two by far now. So those two should have been easy. Now after that it gets a little harder. I'll grant you.
Ryan Lemond
Abilene Christian.
Matt Jones
You all are just. No, we've played Abilene Christian once. Stop laughing. You're. I did not miss that. You making a bad joke and starting to laugh. Okay, what else.
Ryan Lemond
Joseph? There's. There's.
Matt Jones
First of all, when have we played St. Joseph? Can you think of a time maybe.
Ryan Lemond
Back in the day.
Drew
Saint John's.
Matt Jones
Saint John's. Yes. We played this. I thought he had it. He was right there too. He says, saint, you threw me a lob. I finished. He even got the stjo.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And didn't get. Wait a minute. All right, so there's one more saint.
Drew
Okay, Saint Bonaventure.
Matt Jones
Saint Louis. That's exactly right. I did not know until I did this that St. Louis was a religious school. I guess I just thought of it as a city. St. Louis is actually fourth. And by the way, St. Louis is one of the only teams in the country. We have a losing record, but St. Louis. All right, a couple more. Robert Morris. Robert Morris. No, you're thinking way too small schools. There are still big schools. You are forgetting that we. We've played multiple times. You're thinking of these little tiny ones. What about the big ones? There's a whole conference full of these schools.
Drew
I got nothing, Bob.
Matt Jones
Okay, the Big east is almost all Catholic.
Drew
Is Georgetown one?
Matt Jones
The Big east is almost all Catholic? No, but that would have been a good guess. Okay. DePaul. We've played DePaul a zillion times. Marquette, Creighton. I didn't know these were religious schools.
Drew
I didn't either. I'm learning something today.
Matt Jones
And then Baylor is the last one.
Drew
Interesting.
Ryan Lemond
All four of those I didn't realize were religious schools.
Matt Jones
Well, Baylor is a very big Baptist school. Did you know that?
Ryan Lemond
No, I didn't.
Matt Jones
Okay. All right, last question. Since you all did not do well on this, I'm gonna do first president to do these things. Okay. While they're in office. So this is like. Can you. Do you know who the first president to do these things is while they're in office? Who was the first president to send an email? Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton is correct. Shannon with one point. Who was the first president to be on the radio?
Ryan Lemond
Fdr.
Matt Jones
No. Anybody else? Give you a free guess here? Drew and Shannon be somebody from, like, the 1920s? I mean, yes, but. So guess. I don't know. Anybody. I don't know. Who was president in 1920. All right, you are not good.
Ryan Lemond
Who is it?
Matt Jones
Warren G. Hardy. First president to be 19. I don't know what year? 1990 around. What? You said first president to be on television.
Ryan Lemond
Carter. Eisenhower.
Matt Jones
Carter in the late 70s. First person. Reagan's in the 80s. Do you not know when TV was invented?
Drew
I have not been able to answer any of these. I'm just trying to.
Matt Jones
Television was invented way before the 70s.
Drew
Well, do you want dead air or me to name some presidents?
Matt Jones
Give me a guess.
Ryan Lemond
I guess.
Matt Jones
Eisenhower, Shannon. Fdr, fdr. Shannon with two answers. There you go. First one. First president to have a Twitter account. Barack Obama. Shannon is on a roll. That is three. Shannon is killing this game. Shannon. The president. First president to be impeached.
Ryan Lemond
Nixon.
Drew
Nixon.
Matt Jones
No, one way before that. Anybody? Anyone in the crowd?
Drew
Garfield.
Matt Jones
Andrew Johnson. He was repeating after the Civil War, first president to live in the current White House.
Ryan Lemond
Wow.
Matt Jones
I don't know. You aren't gonna get this. George Washington designed it, but then John Adams is the one that lived in it. Now, this one's really hard. One person got it last night. Only one president's ever been sworn in by a woman. And it was in unique circumstances why it happened. Does anybody know the president that was sworn in by a woman? Remember, the chief justice swears you in. We never had a female chief justice, so why would a woman have sworn someone in? Emergency situation assassination. What would the emergency situation have been where a woman wore somebody in? Lyndon Johnson. There you go. That's what I was gonna say. Right out of her mouth there. You look at that. He got that flying back on the plane from. From Kennedy's assassination. Last one. First president to attend while president. A Super Bowl. Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln was a little before the Super Bowl. They didn't have football as a sport yet. And there were battles going on during that period that would have made it hard.
Drew
Battles on the gridiron.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
Jfk.
Matt Jones
It happened last year. Donald Trump was the first president to go to super bowl last year. Well, there you go. It's a good thing you all didn't come to trivia last night. Although Shannon would have. Shannon, you would have done well. I thought you did very well.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, the grapevine. It was very hard.
Matt Jones
It was. Normally we have probably five, six, seven teams that get over 100. Only had one last night.
Ryan Lemond
Wow.
Matt Jones
It was difficult.
Ryan Lemond
But you enjoyed that.
Matt Jones
I loved it. I don't know about you. I mean, you wouldn't have done well, but. 859-280-2287. Text machine is 772-7745254. We will take a break. Be right back. The giants have returned. This is KSR.

Welcome back Tuckee Sports Radio. Tonight here at KS Bar at 9 o', clock, Kentucky and Wisconsin, the volleyball watch party will be this evening. I can't wait. I think it's going to be fun. The should have a great crowd. I would say if you're coming, I would try to get here a few minutes early. Get your spot and be loud. Might as well. We have some drink specials tonight, but it's a big game. Cats have a chance to make the championship against Wisconsin. The first game is Pitt versus Texas A and M. Are you excited, Drew, about our volleyball team with a chance to to win the whole thing?
Drew
Very excited and I've seen a lot of pictures and videos of fans that made the trip. Maybe a little jealous that we weren't able to do it, go to Kansas City, but I love seeing that they've got some support out there already. I assume it's going to be a good crowd today and hopefully finish the job. I know they're the betting favorite where it's at that point where you get that anxiety when you have the expectation to win. You just got to keep pushing forward.
Matt Jones
Two more times in 2014 in basketball, we were the underdog in every game and then we got to the championship and we were the favorite and we lost. Now we weren't the underdog in every game we've been in the favorite, but now it's oh, with Nebraska out, it's there for the taking and we have to spike the ball.
Ryan Lemond
The field did kind of open up. Nebraska loss.
Matt Jones
I'm kind of glad Texas lost.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, that was kind of made me scared to play them a third time this season just because the other games were so close. But this team, Kentucky team, they, they faced adversity many times. Down, oh two sets to Texas and come back and win it.
Matt Jones
Yeah, well, I, I, it should be fun. They've put out a lot of videos of the players. Nike sent them this swag bag of like everything. I mean they and the players were opening up. You can see how they're, how excited they are. I just think it's going to be, it's going to be fun. I mean this fan base, volleyball has provided this fan base with its excitement. Post Covid. I mean it really has like the best things that have happened to this fan base post Covid on the field have been volleyball, winning the title, baseball, going to the World Series, and now this again. I mean, I guess, you know, football, I guess the Will Levis year was good. And then basketball, I mean, I guess last year, the run in the tournament. But like volleyball has kind of carried a lot of our emotion in the last six years.
Drew
It really has and it's been great. My friends, you know, we're a bunch of 40 year old males and we're sending pictures of like watching at home on our screen or meeting up at bars. That's never really been the case for volleyball until recently, but it's been the thing to get behind in the most exciting sport we've had for a while now.
Matt Jones
I mean, I will say definitively if you were talking the 10 best post Covid atmospheres at KS Bar, probably three are UK volleyball games. I mean like, it's like UK volleyball handful of basketball games. Trancy when they won the national title.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
But uk so I hope it continues tonight and if they win, I think they play Sunday afternoon in the final.
Ryan Lemond
So are you going to let Drew come tonight?
Matt Jones
No, you guys are coming. But Drew, if we go down two sets to nothing, you are kicked out.
Drew
I'll probably be here for a set.
Matt Jones
At best I will require people to literally physically take you out of the building. Be careful because in the back I.
Drew
Don'T know if I have five in me regardless, so it might be good for the, for the ladies.
Ryan Lemond
You called the last one. They down on two goes.
Matt Jones
Watch this.
Ryan Lemond
I'm gonna leave. They're gonna rally.
Drew
It happens every time.
Matt Jones
And they rallied immediately.
Drew
I got to the light.
Matt Jones
Yeah. All right. I want to so we'll. We'll talk more about that game. I wanted to ask you about a comment. Did you see Dane's comments?
Ryan Lemond
No.
Matt Jones
Of course you did. Dane Key was asked about Nebraska and he was asked about the portal and he basically said something like, I just say to kids, be very careful when you go in the portal because you may think you're going to a better situation and you don't and then you end up in a worse one. Now Nebraska fans don't seem thrilled by that comment. A lot of comments suggest, hey, you're still at Nebraska, you have a game left. You only went in the portal once and you came here. I think he later said something like, well, I didn't mean me, but what do you. What did you make of that comment?
Drew
I think it was in. He was response to question about Rayola transferring. But there was a lot of felt like some truth also in Dane's tone about himself, you know, and you don't have to hear it from him to know. I mean, maybe he had a great time there. I can't speak for his experience, but statistically it did not work out.
Matt Jones
It did not improve with a worse year than any year he had here.
Drew
Now they won more games, have another game left. That means a lot. But statistically it was. Doesn't seem to have been the right move because he did take a dip in numbers.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, the offense change. I think he thought it was going to get out there. I think he thought they're going to throw it around a lot and they basically went to a running game, most of their offense and then that Riola kid got hurt and then the quarterback came in. They just ran the ball more.
Matt Jones
Rayola, by the way. Very likely. Apparently they end up at Louisville.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, they're after him hard.
Matt Jones
Can you imagine? I mean Dane, he still got one more year. He ain't going to go play for Louisville, is he?
Ryan Lemond
No, he's done.
Drew
He's off the draft.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Ryan Lemond
He's done.
Drew
I would love rail at Louisville.
Matt Jones
He's not been very good.
Drew
I've never thought he's good. It actually it hurt me a little bit when Dane went to Nebraska because I thought, man, I've never believed in that quarterback.
Matt Jones
I think people just think if you look like Mahomes, you'll be Mahomes.
Drew
And the way he like tries to be exactly like him. He's, I don't know, kind of a cornball.
Matt Jones
Yeah, but it, but it was an interesting comment. I mean you can't help but read into it himself with him And Barry on it really didn't work out for either one of them. Do you think it would have been better for Kentucky and them if they both had stayed here? You may not be able to speak to that because I don't want to put you in a weird spot. But Drew, do you think that it would have been better for him if they had stayed here? Because neither one of them had a better year and really neither one of them won. LSU didn't win at all and Nebraska just won a little bit.
Drew
I still worry that they. They just needed a reset in that receiver room. I don't know who the fault is, which direction, but we. We said at the end of last season that needed to be blown up. I mean, maybe if one of them's back and it's.
Matt Jones
But what if they had had. I mean, I'm just doing a what if. What if they had had Cutter Bowley playing like he did and they had date and Barry and let's just say Barry on brings it down a notch. Although he didn't at LSU either, so there's probably not a lot of reason to think he would have. But you know, I think Dane, I.
Drew
Mean, Kendrick Law did just as much as Baron Brown probably could have done at the end of the year. Dane, I think was missed more of a go to, you know, go up and get it receiver. But Barry on, I don't know, kick returning probably would have helped. You know, he's obviously a special player, but I think once they started going to law later in the year, he kind of did what Barion would have done.
Matt Jones
You're probably right about that.
Ryan Lemond
You know, the three years Dane was here at a different quarterback every year and they're going to bring in a fourth, another four years in a row with four different quarterbacks. You know, I think he just want a little continuity, man. Just, you know, by going to a.
Matt Jones
Different quarterback, one that.
Ryan Lemond
That at least had a little experience.
Matt Jones
Yeah, that's true. He would have had experience. Not with him, but. But in general, I think Dane would.
Drew
Have been more helpful than Barry on this team.
Matt Jones
It was interesting because he's right about that. And we kind of talked about this yesterday when we were talking about the AD stuff. You know, you can sometimes think it's time for a change, but that does not guarantee the next guy's going to be better. You know, I mean, with Mark Stoops and the same thing is true with. With Cal, with Pope. We all thought it was time for a change, but that doesn't guarantee you that the next guy's better. But it also doesn't mean that the change was not correct. You know, it's easy to just go like if Wilstein doesn't work out, it'll be easy to go, well, maybe we should just kept stoops. But it was time for a change. And then you just have to hope that the next guy works out. Right?
Drew
Yeah. And when you don't know how they're actually going to be, all you can do is get excited. And that unifies the fan base that had been bickering for years.
Matt Jones
That's a key thing because. Because a new guy, you know, it's exactly right. A new guy does unify the fan base. Either way, we'll take your calls. 859-280-2287. It's Kentucky Sports Radio.

They help athletes, fans and average Joes get rid of aches and pains. It's court.com k o r t.com you got a little bit left in this year or get your appointment for next year? Court.com it's k o r t.com the NBA commissioner Adam Silver Ryan announced that next year the finals of the NBA cup will likely be at a college arena. They said they may do the semifinals and finals at a college arena. And then Shams Chamaria leaked the arenas they're considering. And it's Cameron Indoor, it's Indiana's Arena, Rupp arena and Fog Island Fieldhouse are the four that they're looking at. They say there are pros and cons to each of them. Would you like to see the NBA cup semifinals and finals at Rupp arena next year?
Ryan Lemond
I would love it. And rup's the biggest of those four arenas. I think they got a really good chance of maybe landing that deal if it happens because I think we would pack it.
Matt Jones
The problem they're having is they're not able to draw in Vegas. So the question is, could we draw here? So let's Just think about it. Let's just use this year's. Nick spurs played for the championship. If Nick spurs was in Rupp arena, you think we'd fill the place?
Drew
Yeah, I think so. I think there's enough interest in basketball in the state, as we all know, and then whatever teams you get in the game will bring enough with them from other cities and you have a.
Matt Jones
Really good chance of getting some Kentucky guys here.
Drew
Yeah, I mean, that was only add.
Matt Jones
To it, I mean, last year. So Nick spurs, if it was them, Carl Towns.
Ryan Lemond
Yep.
Matt Jones
You get Dear and Fox and you get Kelton Johnson. So you have three guys right there that are. They're in it. And if you happen to get one that is like the Lakers made it and you get Anthony Davis or if you get, you know, Tyrese Maxey or. I mean, Carl Towns is like that. Yeah. I mean, what if Reed. What if the Rockets made it? What if Reed was playing here? You know, I mean, you could have. I think it would definitely work. I mean, the other thing about. If you think about with Lexington, where it's centrally located is we're located relatively close for a lot of teams. So, like, if it was Laker or like, if the Bucks made it, their fans can drive here, right? Pacers, their fans could drive here. Bulls, Cavs, Bulls, Cavs, Hawks, Memphis. Memphis. You know, there's a lot of teams who. And then, of course, if you're in New York, you could eat, make an easy trip. So I actually think Lexington Ryan would make a lot of sense as the place. Now, they said the favorite is probably Cameron Indoor, which makes sense to me. So that. That's the tiny arena. I mean, it's tiny. Like, you're gonna have a hard time getting in it. But I do love this idea in general.
Ryan Lemond
I absolutely love the idea. And just kind of your argument right there, you'd almost take away Kansas. There's the middle of nowhere, not close.
Matt Jones
And it's hard to get. The thing about Kansas, hard to get. They don't have an airport, so you have to fly to Kansas City and then drive. So there's. That's. I think the. Although I think that's the best environment, to be quite frank with you. It's. It's hard to get there.
Ryan Lemond
You almost think, like you said, Cameron Indoor is almost too small, I think have a big event like that. So if you're down to Bloomington and Lexington.
Matt Jones
Yeah, the only thing about Bloomington is, you know, it's. It's even more centrally located probably even than we are.
Drew
But could be a home game for the Pacers would have a homie.
Matt Jones
I just think Kentucky would make a lot of sense and I do think this city because if it was an NBA game where it counted, like we've had preseason games here over the years, but if you had an NBA game where it counted here, I do feel like we would. We, our fans would go. I know I would go. Wouldn't you?
Drew
Yeah, I think it would be full. And even though Duke would be cool just to kind of have that visual of NBA on that floor, it would price people out too much being so small. I'd want to see how many fans the NBA could get with Rupp being the biggest.
Matt Jones
Do you think they can fill it?
Drew
I do. If you were to get a big name team with a star, like say the warriors and stuff were in it, I mean, people would drive from all over this side of the country to come see the warriors or team they wouldn't normally get to see in person in a big game like that.
Matt Jones
Well, and I think that's why it's a good idea no matter where they go, because I mean, they're trying to make the NBA Cup a thing that matters. Okay. In Vegas, on any given night, a million things are going on. But if you're telling me that LeBron is playing down the street from my house, like, I never thought that would happen. I definitely would want to go.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, you. You hit on something like this would be a competitive. Like we're going to play their lights out, not a preseason game where they don't play very hard. This is going to be a massive game.
Matt Jones
And at Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, especially those three, or even Carolina, if you wanted to. There's not an NBA team right there. Right. So there's a whole group of people who. We never have an NBA game here. That's cool. And then again to not to just keep selling Lexington. What is the closest NBA team does? I guess it's the Pacers.
Ryan Lemond
Right.
Matt Jones
But that's two and a half, three hours away. Having it right here bring in like. And if you get it now, you won't know. But if you get a Kentucky guy in the game, you're not going to know because it's a tournament. But if you do, Drew, forget it. I mean, like Carl Towns versus the Aaron Fox here would have been great.
Drew
Yeah, I think they'd fill it even without one. But you add a Kentucky player in there and yeah, people be fighting over tickets. I just think we're in such a good place where you can come From Atlanta. I mean, Cleveland's up there. Those teams probably wouldn't be in it next year. Cleveland, even. Just big cities that have interest in other teams. We're so easy to get to from so many places.
Matt Jones
Six hours from everywhere. Yeah, I sometimes say that, but think about Lexington. Think about how many cities we are six hours from. We're six hours from Chicago. Or six to seven from Milwaukee, Chicago, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Charlotte, Raleigh, Pittsburgh, Memphis, Nashville, Atlanta. You know, go the other way. St. Louis. Like, we're six. We're six hours from everywhere, so why not?
Drew
And from here, we're an hour and a half from what, like three different airports? Cincinnati, Louisville. You got Lexington right here.
Ryan Lemond
I think, you know, Mark Pope would be all for it because he could bring these recruits in and sit them.
Matt Jones
Right behind for sure. You know, it'd be a huge advantage to whatever school gets. Yeah. To me, the only two choices are Kentucky and Duke. That. That to me is you'd want to go to one of those. And I understand why you'd want to go to Duke, but you. Right, you'll price everybody. That's 7,000 people in there.
Drew
Yeah. By the time they all bring friends and family, you're priced.
Matt Jones
That's right. Who's next? Shannon. Let's go to Billy and Green Bay. Billy. Go ahead, Billy. Hey, what's up, guys? So I'm currently driving from Green Bay, Wisconsin down to Kansas City for the game tonight because here on the Cats and I'm super pumped. However, I'm sitting next to one of my best friends, Adam, who is a die hard Bucky fan. He is head to toe, dressed in red and white. He's got this dorky sweatshirt on that has like a badger head on it, and he's driving me nuts. I should acknowledge he is the reason why I have a ticket to this game. Yes. But I feel like I need a shot in the arm. I think Big Blue Nation needs a shot in the arm. And Ryan, I don't know if you've ever done a women's volleyball pep talk over on the side of the road. Get on the knee. I need to hear one because I. I don't like the. You know, he ends up making sayings and stuff. I appreciate the call that I don't think are appropriate for a women's volleyball pep talk. So I would just say we'll.
Ryan Lemond
We'll.
Matt Jones
We'll leave him for football and basketball. But you can do one in your mind, right? Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
I think you're making a good call here.
Matt Jones
I just. I don't I don't think you talking about women's volleyball is positive for humanity in that regard.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, a couple of my go to's wouldn't work for volleyball.
Matt Jones
That's exactly what I'm worried about. Who's up next? Terry. Terry. Go ahead, Terry. All right, guys. And in regards to Jaden Quaintance, I think everybody believes now that he's either going to make his debut against St. John's or he's going to make his debut against Bellarmine, one of those two. My argument here is let's just rip the band aid off. You play St. John's on the 20th, you play Bellarmine on the 23rd. Those three or four days are not going to make the difference. He's passed every test that he needs to pass now. He's done his practice. In my mind, I think he's ready to go. I know I'm not a doctor, but I think he's been cleared or he wouldn't be practicing. Five on five. So what say you guys? This was gonna be my next segment, so I'll lead into it right now. I appreciate the call, Drew. Jaden Quaintance, by all indication, is it seems like he's gonna play against St. John's I say play. We had the guy, the text machine guy say 10 to 12 minutes. He guaranteed 9 to 13 or your money back. I want to see Jaden Quaint. That picture of him, it worked for me. Picture of him, Duncan, in practice that UK put out yesterday. I was like, all right, here we go. Bring him on.
Drew
Yeah, I saw the clip that came out of him just going the length of the court that led to that dunk that the photo was out there of.
Matt Jones
I agree.
Drew
Just let him go. I know. I think there's an eternal debate going on right now of putting them on the big stage or letting him come with an easy team. This Dude's a top 10 pick. Let him loose. And this is, you need lose anymore these non conference games.
Matt Jones
You need a win here, a win here. Like we had to beat Indiana. I think we can lose this game, but if we won this game, we're not back on track. But we're kind of close because I thought go three and three in those games would, would be like the worst you'd want to do. 2 and 4 is less than that, but it's not terrible. And the conference is easier than we thought it was going to be, probably. So I say throw him out there. Let's see what happens.
Ryan Lemond
Why delay the inevitable if he is ready to go, been cleared to play and he's practicing. Why wait till the Bellarmine game? Throw him out there Saturday and let him, like I said, get your nine or 10 minutes to get him going for the SEC.
Matt Jones
And you want to get this fan base excited during the Holloway holidays. Throw him out there, have a full game of JLO low and then we're good for. Yeah, like, then we could be like, oh, Drew, maybe I don't even have to think about that game in Nashville against Gonzaga. Let's act like that didn't happen.
Drew
Yeah, I'm down to forget about that. I'd love to forget about it. Just what we've seen, the small clips that have coming out and the reports and stories you're hearing from behind the scenes is that he's ready to go. I just don't think you wait for a cupcake, let him loose, see what.
Matt Jones
He has against St. John's like one of the worst teams in the country. I mean, what does that.
Drew
Of course I'll be dunking on them in that game.
Matt Jones

Welcome back Techie Sports Radio, 859-280-2287. One person writes Adam Silver's a Duke alumnus. National media expect him to choose Cameron Indoor. I mean that would make if you're trying to make the environment good, it would make sense. Now the thing is, if you have it at Cameron Indoor, are you going to invite the Duke students? Like is that, you know what I mean? Like if it's all rich people sitting in the Cameron crazy seats, then it's not as cool. You're going to have to invite the Duke students. But then like how do you know who they're going to cheer for?
Drew
That's a good question.
Matt Jones
I mean a big part of what makes Cameron indoor the thing is the students there. But if you take those guys out, well then it just looks like you're in a high school arena, right?
Drew
Yeah, I wish there a way to get crazies for whatever teams show up. But that'd be impossible to coordinate, you.
Matt Jones
Know, not knowing what are you gonna say to students. All right, all of you are rooting.
Drew
For you all like this team.
Matt Jones
You guys are all choosing San Antonio. So I guess they though could get a team that has a Duke guy and then maybe they would cheer like that. I Understand, I think objectively there's Duke would make a lot of sense for the first one, but I do think if I'm being objective, my second choice would be rough. People have mentioned the Yum Center. I love Louisville. I think Louisville should have an NBA team, but I don't know that if you're trying to get a college atmosphere feel. I don't know if you get that at the Yum center, which is more like a pro arena in some respects.
Drew
Yeah, they don't go to their own games there. I know I can't talk trash, but they don't even get good college crowds.
Matt Jones
That would be hard.
Ryan Lemond
I didn't know he was a Duke alumnus. That kind of makes me think he'll probably at least go there for the first year, maybe up to second years kind of rotated around or something.
Matt Jones
I saw a stat, and I wanted your opinion on it. 36% of Americans say that kids should not be left home alone for an hour until they are at least 14 years old. I saw that stat, and that struck me as way high. Like I would think. And again, you're talking to someone that does not have a child, but I would think you could leave a kid home alone at 11, 12 for like an hour. Not overnight, not for a week, but like, for. For an hour to go to the grocery or something. You all. You've been a parent. You're going to be a parent. Drew, what's the age that you think you could say, okay, I can leave my kid for an hour?
Ryan Lemond
I was. I was gonna say 10, because I feel like I'm trying to go back in it. When my boys were 10, they could, you know, take care of themselves at least for an hour. Maybe even a little more than that. But I wouldn't go much higher than 10 years old.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Drew
I was actually gonna say 13 before you said the number when I was figuring where you were headed.
Matt Jones
So, I mean, I'm trying to think what my parents. I think my parents probably left me alone. 11, 12. I'm just guessing 11 or 12, something.
Ryan Lemond
Like that, because, you know, 13, 14 years old, you're in middle school, you're a seventh grader, eighth grader.
Matt Jones
Yeah. You're, like, almost in high school, so.
Ryan Lemond
You should be able to take care of yourself at that age.
Matt Jones
There were 10.
Ryan Lemond
You're talking about maybe a 15 or.
Matt Jones
Percent of Americans said not until they're 16.
Drew
That seems extreme.
Matt Jones
That feels like we're having some coddled children, right? I mean, 16, you can drive.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, that's a little Bit, a little bit of a sheltered life right there. I'm going down. Like about your fifth grade age. I think you're about the ends of the age, you maybe leave them alone. Yeah.
Matt Jones
What age is that?
Drew
I don't know. Grades and ages. 10. Okay. Fifth grade feels about right.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Drew
I think about sixth for me.
Matt Jones
I think about 12 feels about right. Yeah. Maybe 13. But I think a 12 year old.
Ryan Lemond
Could hang out for an hour.
Matt Jones
Leaving them there all day long. Just an hour. When you left your kid for the first time by themselves, were you nervous?
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. Yes. Especially like if we're on the road with you guys and maybe my wife at the time was working and I'm not there. So the kids are home by themselves for a little bit.
Matt Jones
Like literally the very first time. Do you remember that?
Ryan Lemond
Like the first time you drop them off at daycare. I remember I cried.
Matt Jones
You did?
Ryan Lemond
Yes. No doubt.
Matt Jones
Interesting. The only time I've felt something like that is like the first time I parked my car. You cried.
Drew
You cried.
Matt Jones
But you know, you get like when you buy a new car and you pull it out of the parking lot, you don't ever think about wrecking. But when you buy a new car, when you first pull out a parking lot, you're like, then you park it and you're like, all right, get. Keep it away from all these cars.
Drew
It's exactly like this.
Matt Jones
I mean, I'm not saying it's the exact same thing. Children probably a little bit different, but that's the only thing I can relate it to.
Ryan Lemond
But there's a, you know, a part of me, when they get age 10 or so, you got to start teaching them some life skills. And so maybe.
Matt Jones
What are the life skills? You taught them karate? Sure.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. You know, taking care of yourself. If you're hungry, may make yourself a peanut butter jelly sandwich. You know, figure out.
Matt Jones
See, that's why Myron wants to use those catchphrases. It's because that's the first thing you teach him.
Ryan Lemond
That was a funny segment though. That was really funny.
Matt Jones
Stuck together like peanut butter and jelly.
Ryan Lemond
Because they were so horrible.
Matt Jones
Thing is, he means it.
Drew
Yes.
Matt Jones
Like shaded. Play his catchphrase from the one game. Oh, I'd have to pull it up.
Ryan Lemond
Here, but yeah, yeah, pull it up yesterday, Monday.
Matt Jones
I mean, he is so serious he.
Ryan Lemond
Wants to use those and I hope he does.
Matt Jones
He really believes he should be a catchphrase guy. And I think it is about me.
Drew
I think you should encourage that behavior.
Ryan Lemond
You definitely should.
Matt Jones
Yes. I have meetings today with the Southern Miss and Western Kentucky sports information directors to learn about the team.
Ryan Lemond
Very good. He did not like your idea of taking calls, though, during the game. I was going to get them.
Matt Jones
More importantly, we are taking calls.
Ryan Lemond
Does your producer know you want to take calls?
Matt Jones
He'll learn in the meeting.
Ryan Lemond
Wow.
Matt Jones
We are taking calls.
Ryan Lemond
You're supposed to be doing.
Drew
You're going to change the game.
Matt Jones
Here they are. We are taking. And we are taking calls. Who's next?
Ryan Lemond
Matt?
Matt Jones
Matt. Go ahead, Matt. Yes. A couple weeks ago, he was talking about Raceland football team. Okay. And I couldn't get. I couldn't get through. In 1924, Jack King built a racetrack and they renamed the community Raceland. And when he shut that down, he moved, Alexa. He moved to Lexington and built Keeneland.
Ryan Lemond
Yep.
Matt Jones
So you're telling me a guy built a racetrack and they named the town Raceland and then he just left town? He was there four years and he rebuilt. He built Keeneland. And Keeneland is a non for profit. Yeah. Place and their profit goes to children, charities. Yeah, I did know that. That's interesting though, that you can just come to town and build something. Then the town will change the name. Right.
Ryan Lemond
The original Keeneland was at Raceland and now it's a golf driving range.
Matt Jones
Appreciate the call. Oh, is that right? That was the original.
Ryan Lemond
Original Keeneland is now a driving range in race. And I didn't know he changed the name to the town to Raceland, but he built the first Keeneland there in Raceland.
Matt Jones
Huh. I wonder what the people thought. You changed our name and then you left town. Town turned into a top golf. Interesting. Well, there you go. Thank you, sir. I did not know that. We will take a break and come back hour number two. We're here at KS Bar Grill. It's Kentucky Sports Radio. What a matchup we got, y'.
Ryan Lemond
All.
Matt Jones
This is that classic HBCU vibe. Non stop action. The band is rocking and the crowd lit. Chance echo drum beat. Everybody showing that school pride. Game like this.
Drew
Yeah. It calls for an ice cold Coca Cola.
Matt Jones
Ah, crisp and refreshing. That's a game changer right there.
Drew
Mmm.
Matt Jones
Yeah, that taste always hits the right note. Just like the band at halftime. And just like that, we're back at it. Passionate fans, school colors everywhere, and an ice cold Coca Cola. That's a winning combo. No matter the sport, no matter the yard. Everybody knows fan work is thirsty work. So grab a Coca Cola and keep that HBCU pride going. Thursday night Football is on. And it's only on Prime Video. Brilliant. Just brilliant. Tonight, the west coast action heats up when the Rams meet the Seahawks in a huge divisional showdown.
