Yep, I agree. Been good going down there. Shorthanded the last two trips. I am worried at how good we are at fixing knee swelling. Has been a little bit of a while. I was hopeful he would give it a go. But let's. Let's get the medical team rolling so that knee can be better. Swelling has lingered a little longer than I thought. Swelling lingers.

Is negative Ryan, who last Saturday started to show his head out? Is he starting to feel more and more emboldened to be negative on the quaintance thing?

I think it was just needed to be discussed that, you know, he sits out right when he play well. And dad was very adamant on social media.

How do you feel now, though? It's a week later, still hasn't played.

The 31st. All right, so you got Tennessee. Then we play Texas at home, Ole Miss on the road at Vandy. I'm going to look at that at Vandy game. If he doesn't play by then, then I'm gonna start to wonder if he's not gonna play. I still think he's gonna play. I still don't think there's any. I have not gotten a hint from anyone except negative Ryan that he's not gonna play. But if we go two and a half, Two weeks, two and a half weeks, then I do think, Shannon, you have to start and go, wait a minute, what's going on?

Yeah, I'm not a Doctor. But I feel like two and a half weeks is long enough for a knee to stop swelling.

Yeah.

So I feel like at that point, he should be ready to go.

I watched this last night when I got home from Trivia. I went and watched it on YouTube, and I actually thought that was awesome. So, you know, tennis has lost a lot of its sort of national. At least in America. It's not as popular as it was like, when I was a kid or.

[Shannon Dawson]

When we were working there. It's gone downhill since.

[Matt Jones]

It has. It has. I mean, Federer and all those guys gone. I think that makes a part of it. But they. The Australian Open starts next week, and they had an event to get it kicked off. Shannon. It was called the One point Slam.

[Ryan Lemond]

I like it. Okay.

[Matt Jones]

So they put the top 25 men's players. They put the top, like, 15 women's players. And then they had a contest in Australia that anyone could enter where you could try to get to play in it. And the premise is it was a tournament, but you only had to play one point.

[Drew Franklin]

Wow.

[Matt Jones]

Okay. One point, win or lose. So the theory is, of course, you're not going to beat a good player in a whole match, but in one.

[Ryan Lemond]

Point, anything could happen.

[Matt Jones]

Anything could happen. They could double fault.

[Ryan Lemond]

Sure.

[Matt Jones]

Right. Anything could happen. So, like, eight or 10 people from across Australia made the finals. They had all these men professionals, women professionals. They had the tournament. It ended up crazy things happened. Okay. The number one player in the world lost to a woman on the women's tour. An amateur. Just an amateur. Dude beat Carlos Alcaraz out the final match. Ended up being a guy from Australia who was a good player, but not a professional, versus the number two woman in the world. One point, and he beat her, and he won a million dollars.

[Drew Franklin]

Wow.

[Matt Jones]

Just a guy in Australia ended up winning a million.

[Ryan Lemond]

See, I would watch something like this. This is kind of like tennis's version of the NCAA tournament. In one game, anything can happen.

[Matt Jones]

One point.

[Ryan Lemond]

St. Peter's can beat Kentucky.

[Matt Jones]

They would do paper, rock, scissors to see who got to serve. Okay. Yeah. And like, in one of the matches, one of the pros was playing an amateur, and the pro double faulted. His theory was, he can't hit my serve. But by the way, you didn't double fault one serve. Oh. If you put the first serve in.

[Ryan Lemond]

The net, you're out a lot of pressure. Yeah.

[Matt Jones]

I loved it. I. I watched it. I Even know who won, who had won because I'd seen the story, but still watch it. And the players were into it and they were loving it. And it was quick. You come in, you do the serve, go out. Next, next team.

[Shannon Dawson]

Yeah.

[Ryan Lemond]

10 minutes later, the whole thing's done.

64 player tournament. There was a bracket.

[Ryan Lemond]

Yeah.

I'm watching that a lot more than I'm watching a five hour tennis match that goes five sets and tiebreaker after tiebreaker. I'm watching that.

I feel like it was a. I feel like it was a great idea and it was something that could make men and women playing it because again, for one point, yeah, anyone could win. I thought it was excellent.

[Shannon Dawson]

I'd like to just sit there and rapid fire bet all day long as they just come up one after another. Also with our short attention spans, while other sports do this. Well, we have a basketball game where it's first to two and just bring out the next five.

[Matt Jones]

Well, let me ask you this. Would you want to watch this? You took the top 30 NBA players, top 15 women's players and then like 15 randos. Right. And it's just a shooting contest.

[Ryan Lemond]

Yeah. Or one on one.

In Louisville called the Kentucky Kings. Are they calling by the Louisville, Louisville Kings? That was a mistake. Should have been the Kentucky Kings, but they're the Louisville Kings and they had their draft yesterday and two of their draft picks, Ryan, were Benny Snell and Lynn Bowden. Do you think that was a good idea to help people be interested in the first year of the Louisville Kings?

[Drew Franklin]

It caught my attention. Now, whether they end up on the field or not, I guess that's another Debate if they're in shape and one's.

[Matt Jones]

Already said he's doing it. I haven't heard about Lynn Bowden.

[Drew Franklin]

I'm watching. You know Chris Redmond's the coach, right? Isn't he the coach? Yeah. When you got Benny Snell back there, it attracts all of our attention immediately.

[Shannon Dawson]

I think this is what they needed to do. Get local guys that people love who can still do it but just can't make the league. And what better group can you get on the Kentucky side than Benny Snell and Lynn Bowden? And then, you know, Lamar's pretty washed. Maybe they get Lamar next year.

[Matt Jones]

Really pretty good there.

[Ryan Lemond]

This is how you create a fan base though, right? You got to get them hooked right from the get go. Bring in some players that are familiar. And now, you know, maybe those are two perfect people.

[Matt Jones]

I mean, those are two guys that Kentucky fans. I'm sure they'll do the same. I didn't see, but I'm sure they'll do the same with Louisville people. But you get. If you get. I can't think of two people that would be better than Bitty Snail and Lynn Boat. Because they. Because they both still play football. They both still want to play football.

[Ryan Lemond]

In the league and our fans still want to see them and our fans.

[Matt Jones]

Still like them and they remember them and they. Beloved. Were beloved. So I could. I think it's a smart idea.

Even if you're a little fan and you hate Kentucky, you have to be like, all right, this is a good deal for the Kings. Like going and getting those two going. Yeah, you have to embrace that a little bit. That's the perfect draft.

When you get to watch Kentucky win a big game with your child and you get to hug him after that, that's one of the greatest satisfactions that I've had as a Kentucky fan as far as Mo. You know, it's awesome, the lineup, man. I just wish we'd find a lineup that he loves. Leaves it alone. And we go shorten that rotation to seven. Eight players. Just find out what's working and quit subbing and leave it alone. But I'm a basketball Benny. I'll hang up and let you guys talk. Have a great weekend.

Well, I think that's what's gonna happen now. I mean, first of all, part of the thing reason they have to do that is guys are out, so there's not as many options. But I think, you know, Ryan, I think the lineup is pretty simple. They're going to play. They're going to play away and Aberdeen until their legs fall off. They're going to play Chandler and or cam at the 3, they're going to play Cam and or yellow, Vic or Diaboti at the four and they're going to play Moreno or garrison at the 5. And that's the lineup. Jasper Johnson, I hope he plays his way into that group, but he only played seven minutes the other night. But that's the team at this point and it is what it is.

[Drew Franklin]

Like we talked about, you know, Pope found the. I think the five guys he thought were playing the best in that second half. He's done that a couple times this year and he'll just run with them. None of this substitute in and out. I'm going to go with my guys that are playing the best that night.

[Matt Jones]

There might be games, Drew, where OA plays like 37 minutes.

[Ryan Lemond]

Sure.

[Matt Jones]

I think. I really don't know if they can afford to ever take him out.

[Shannon Dawson]

No, he's been doing it on both ends too, when he had like five steals, two games to go, finishing on fast breaks with Jasper. They're still going to need him. As awesome as Aberdeen was in that second half, we've seen his inconsistency consistencies all year. He's gonna have a bad game at some point and Jasper's gonna have to fill those shoes. Hopefully not many bad games. Now that's his role. But as well as he played at lsu, I don't know that we can expect that to be a regular occurrence, although I hope it is.

[Matt Jones]

I'm really surprised that Jasper didn't play more at LSU. I think we had the over under 14 and he was seven, didn't play at all in the second half.

[Drew Franklin]

Well, I think that's a credit more to Aberdeen. Aberdeen was playing so well.

[Matt Jones]

That is true. He was playing very well.

[Drew Franklin]

He had a couple shots to start the second half. You couldn't afford to take Aberdeen off the court. So I think it's more reflection on what Aberdeen was doing, not what Jasper wasn't doing.

[Matt Jones]

Do you think we will shoot the ball, Shannon, like we did in that second half against LSU? 8 of 11 from 3.

[Ryan Lemond]

No, not consistently. But I mean, I still want to see him take 30 threes. You know, I think that's the way that you beat this Tennessee team, you got to at least make a lot of attempts at three.

Have you anybody watched the angle of the Chandler pass?

[Ryan Lemond]

Crazy. The goal, like an inch difference.

[Matt Jones]

All right, first of all, when I see the angle from the Chandler pass, I think Moreno kind of threw Colin under the bus. That was to Morain. He wasn't trying to throw that to away. That was to Moreno. That pass from that angle, when you see what he saw, I cannot believe it worked. Nope. I mean, the dude was jumping up and down. He went over that guy. It's like just a, you know, in a millimeter over the LSU guys thing. And then to Moreno's credit, to catch it, turn, have the composure and make the shot. I mean, you could do that a hundred times. Ryan and I think it would work once. I really do.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah. They said he overthrew Aberdeen and away. No, he didn't. That show. That throw was straight to Memorial. Real maybe in the third option, but.

[Matt Jones]

He was throwing it down. If you watch. If you see that video from behind, watch college Chandler's face. He's wants to throw it to away. He sees he's covered, and then he adjusts, and you can see his eye go, all right, I'm going to Moreno. And then. And then I forgot that earlier in the year, was it against North Carolina, Chandler did the same thing, and it didn't work through a bad pass. He threw a bad pass.

[Shannon Dawson]

I mentioned this yesterday. When Chandler went to inbound the ball Wednesday night, I was like, oh, God, we're not even going to touch it. Because I had that North Carolina throw in mind. He threw it to a pile of UNC players, but not this time. Not at all. And to Marino's credit, I mean, he caught that at the perfect top of his jump. Kind of Moss, the LSU defender on both ends. I don't think you could have had better execution from the pass or the catch.

[Matt Jones]

It was it. I mean, like I said, it's. In my opinion, Shannon. I mean, it's. It might be one of the two or three best ending shots in Kentucky history. I mean, we've had bigger shots in bigger games. Right, but they were like off a play or a half court set. I mean, in terms of some. We've never had something like that. I don't think we've ever had a one pass up good full court. I don't think it's ever happened.

[Ryan Lemond]

A lot of people compare that shot to the Leitner shot, but keep in mind, Leitner had like 2.1 seconds. So he had a Little bit. Even more extra time than what Maria.

[Matt Jones]

Time for a dribble, right? He had time for a dribble right now.

Had to do that all in one motion basically.

Yeah.

And it completed an 18 point comeback. That's true. Yeah. That's also adding that to the true story will be hard to tell.

Like, it used to be, if you said gut, that just meant you're fat.

Even more than like F1, Art, Basil, all of that. It would be if they were to win Monday night and Indiana fans. They are expecting 50,000 Indiana fans to go, and Miami is there. So this has got to be one of the harder tickets, probably for a national championship game ever. Who do you think? Who you think wins?

You know, I've been pulling for Indiana all season long. I think they do it. They go perfect season, win the championship, and are like the greatest story, I think, in sports history. They're up there in my lifetime. At least I think they're up there.

I'm sodden with the home game. And it is a home game for Mendoza, who Miami did not offer. He is going to light up the Hurricanes.

Let's talk about our next few games just for what Kentucky needs to do to make the turn. Are you got at Tennessee? I still would argue this is probably our third hardest game of the year in. In in conference. Alabama was the hardest. I would say at Arkansas is the second hardest. And this is probably the third. Then though, Texas at home, Old Miss at home. You got to win both those. Would you agree?

Because Travis Perry, Homecoming.

Because then you go to Vandy.

So in my opinion, to make the tournament, if you take the next four games at Tennessee, Texas at home, Ole Miss at home, at Vandy, you need to go 2 and 2 if you want to make the tournament. And I think it'd be a lot easier to win those two home games, Drew, than the two road games. But that's what you need to do.

And Ron just mentioned the importance of stacking some wins here. If you're really going to turn this around, what better thing to build off than that finish we'll be talking about a decade from now? You go beat Tennessee and you can kind of block out the year up until you've had a three game winning streak and really focus on finishing strong. So carry this momentum and keep it going forward.

Texas doesn't have a great record, but they look great. Against Vandy the other night. I know that was a home game, but I think they're, you know, an improvement.

In fact Mark Stoops was even shadow banned on Twitter where if he did tweet you can't really see it. But this group is like they're posting Jared Lorenzen highlights and stuff. Will did that video. You know that's small stuff.

Yeah, like I mean he fire off one tweet did have 30 views and Vince was the only one with a Twitter account of that staff. And it's not about Twitter. We want to win games. But I like that the staff has been very active. Even the assistants are like tweeting out pictures of former players and stuff.

Who's going to be our best player tomorrow for Kentucky versus Tennessee?

Great question. I mean it's got to be o way the way he's playing. He's got about 20 points in four straight SEC games. He's, he's our stud. You know you feed the stud. He is our stud and got to continue to play that way.

[Ryan Lemond]

Yeah, he was sick last game. Still got 21 points. So I'm going to hope that he's feeling better tomorrow.

[Matt Jones]

That hasn't gotten discussed a lot was the fact that he was sick during that game. I mean 21 points while he's sick. He scored at least 20 points in all four SEC games. First guy at Kentucky to do that since Jody Meeks. He's on pace to be all sec. Just so you know, when I was looking at the all time point list, I don't think people realize if Ortega finishes the season on the same pace he does, he has, he's going to be pretty high on the UK all time point list because he's going to have played two years. If you're talking like post Cal Perry era, he's going to end up being one of our highest scorers after. Because he's played two years.

[Shannon Dawson]

If I'm not mistaken, last year even including Cal finished with one of the highest points per game averages for a season. And now if he can keep it going the way he has the, the first four games to start. Sec. Yeah, I expect him to finish strong and be right in that conversation.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah, I want to look because I think people will be shocked at some of the names he is up against if he continues at this pace. I think, I think people will be very surprised. Who's up next? Sue is up next. Sue. Go ahead Sue. Hello Matt.

I also think about when he's played kind of what he's been. I think that's really where the big issue is.

He had his. He's had as many good games as the other. Some of the others have. He is the only one who is not getting to play. And.

Let's just say otega away. Let's say he averages, you want to say 20 points a game for the rest of the year. Is that, is that a fair.

Yeah. So let's just say that he averages 20 points a game. So that would put him about. He would finish about 70th all time in scoring. He would be right next to Travis Ford. Here's who if away did that. Here's who he would have scored more points than their career. Are you ready?

Walter McCarty. Marques Estelle, Larry Conley. PJ Washington, Anthony Epps, Willie Collie Stein, Cliff Hawkins, Tyler Ulis, Nazi Muhammad, Antoine Walker. Aaron. Andrew Harrison, Sean Woods. If he were to average 20 points a game, he would pass all of those names. I said in career scoring. I don't think people would realize that he would be that high up on the scoring list.

[Drew Franklin]

I wouldn't have thought that you know because some of those guys you mentioned played here four years will tell you just two years in the same category that I guess Antoine played two years and the Harrison twins and yeah but.

[Matt Jones]

I mean more than Tyler Ulison. I mean would you have thought Walker Malt, McCarty played here three years. Like that's a really surprising year.

[Shannon Dawson]

Players you name surprise me. The two year if he keeps this last year was really well I think Murray might be the only one that has averaged more points than him in a season in a long time and he had that run of 20 points a game for however many was that was a record. So I'm not surprised at all these in the two year conversation. But But McCarty and the guys Ford those surprised me a little bit.

[Matt Jones]

Let me read you real quick. The only two year players at Kentucky that would have more points than away if he finishes at this pace. Bill Spivey. Bill Spivey has the most points ever in two years. You know who's second? Just take a guess. Anybody. Can anybody think of who the second highest scoring two year player in UK history is? Antonio Reeves.

We are going to all be under estimating. And Antonio Reeves by the way remember really didn't play the first half of his first year.

He had to make Cal plan.

[Matt Jones]

Antonio Reeves then Oscar Sheepway, Rex Chapman, Terrence Jones, Duron Lamb, Ron Mercer. Those would be the only players in UK history with more points in OA. And I will note Duron Lamb and a couple of those guys played a lot more games because we will advance more in the tournament Drew than we probably will in these two years years.

And you know 20 a game moving forward seems high but him turning the corner when we got the SEC play I expect him to be close to it. He is completely flipped a switch from when we were a little down on him earlier in the season.

Antonio Reeves, Shannon. Yeah, that high.

It's a lot of think about some.

Of those big games.

Yeah a lot of great players you just mentioned there puts it into perspective.

I'll say they win 74, 73, but I don't think this is a game where we're going to be blown out or first half is anything like last week. I'm confident they're going to play a good game come down to the end.

I think we're going to be completely competitive but I don't think we're going to win. I'm going to say Tennessee 77, 71, but I think it'll be a game that's close throughout, you know, within six, four to 10 points. But I do not think we will be able to get the victory. Ryan limit. Are you going to finish positive? So we don't all pick Tennessee.

One of us has to pick Kentucky, right? So yeah, you saw Dr. We've won five of the last six down there so why can't they make another and get another win down there? So I'll pick. I'll be the one guy to pick Kentucky.
