I'm Matt Jones here on a snowy Louisville, Kentucky, where it is really cold. I don't know what it's like for those of you outside of Kentucky, but it is absurdly cold here in Louisville, Lexington. Drew Franklin
I'm present.
Matt Jones
All right, good. Drew is here as well. And, Shannon, Nice to have everybody there. Is Lexington. Did you get out of your neighborhoods? I know, Drew, you and Ryan were worried that you weren't gonna be able to get out.
Drew Franklin
The issue is more getting in. So we knew we could get here, but we might just be living on the street the rest of the afternoon.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, Drew and I both have a little hill to get into our neighborhood. That's. That's the worries getting back home.
Matt Jones
Well, just leave your car. It's fine. I've seen cars all over the city that get left here in Louisville. Shannon. Seems like they're just people just kind of decide, as my friend Johnny Bruce would say, to just sit her down and leave it and then go and go about their business.
Shannon
Problem is it's probably not going to thaw out until some time next week. So usually the sun comes in and does its thing the next day, but not this case.
Matt Jones
So after the show yesterday, I decided, okay, you know, it's. I don't know how this stuff works, but I was like, well, I guess it'll freeze, you know, and then it would become. Ryan, in my view, maybe harder to dig out in the future than it would have been yesterday.
Sponsor/Advertiser Voice
Right?
Ryan Lemond
Correct. Yes.
Matt Jones
So I went outside. You know, I don't have a shovel. So I looked around. I saw a shovel on somebody's porch. Ryan. I went and I knocked on their door, and they didn't answer. And so I was left with a dilemma. I assumed they would want me to borrow this shovel.
Ryan Lemond
You did?
Matt Jones
Yes.
Ryan Lemond
Wife is walking up on their porch and taking their shovel?
Matt Jones
Well, no, I assume that they. Well, I mean, I feel like they'd be a good neighbor. Right.
Ryan Lemond
Because you're a good neighbor to them.
Matt Jones
If I had a shovel, which, of course, I don't, but if I did have a shovel, they should feel free to use it.
Ryan Lemond
Gotcha.
Matt Jones
And, Drew, I feel like I give that vibe to the neighborhood. Come use my shovel.
Drew Franklin
Sounds like you live in a theft neighborhood.
Caller
Yeah.
Shannon
Why don't you just borrow their car while you were at it?
Sponsor/Advertiser Voice
I don't think.
Matt Jones
I don't think. I don't think. A car and a shovel. If there is a shovel on a porch during a snowstorm, it's fair game. I'm not taking it. I'm borrowing it. Do you feel like it's fair at that point, Ryan, to borrow the shovel?
Ryan Lemond
I think if I had a good relationship with that neighbor, but I don't know this person. Well, then.
Drew Franklin
And in this ice, most people are breaking their shovels anyway. So what if you had broken their shovel?
Matt Jones
What would you do? Well, I'm careful with my shovels. I'm very careful not to. And we don't have a lot of ice here. You all have ice there. We have, like, big, fluffy snow. So. So I borrow the shovel, go out. I start digging around the tires, because, you know, my tires were spinning, and I was trying to get out. As I'm digging, a man walks right behind me and just whispers, ryan and Shannon would be very proud of you. He had been listening to the show.
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And he said. And he didn't even stop. He just said it, said, love the show, and kept walking.
Shannon
Well, going from a brush to a snow shovel is a huge upgrade. I'm very proud of you, actually using tools for the first time.
Matt Jones
Well, let me say, having not shoveled in a long, long time, I'm changing my position from yesterday. Ryan, you should not shovel. You will end up with a heart attack.
Ryan Lemond
Yes. It's hard. Hard work.
Matt Jones
It is hard. It's very. So I got it. Got it out while I'm shoveling. The man who shovel, Shannon, to be honest, I borrowed.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
He walks out of his house.
Shannon
Oh.
Matt Jones
And he looks at me, and he knows I have his shovel at this point.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, of course he does.
Matt Jones
So I look at him, and I say, hey, borrowed your shovel. And he goes, I'm aware. Which I thought was a funny answer.
Ryan Lemond
My security system triggered. We had a front porch.
Matt Jones
I said, I hope you don't mind. I'll bring it right back. And he goes, of course. And then he kind of looks at me and walks in. So I think he was okay with Drew, but did sort of want to note, hey, man, you did take my shovel.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, that to me was a story of theft. That's. That's what I heard.
Shannon
I think you owe him one, too. Like, what can he borrow from you now in the future when he needs something?
Matt Jones
My brush.
Shannon
Wants the brush.
Matt Jones
He can borrow my brush, bake him.
Shannon
Some brownies or cookies or something.
Matt Jones
I was told that the things on them are called, like, Whispers Ryan on a broom.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, I thought maybe they were bristles. It hit me later in the day was bristles, I think.
Matt Jones
It's not bristles. It's not whispers.
Ryan Lemond
Okay, bristles.
Matt Jones
No, it is bristles. What are you. Which one is it? I thought bristles.
Shannon
I think I accidentally said thistles yesterday, but I meant bristles.
Matt Jones
Okay. Yeah, well, I don't know where I got the word whispers. Maybe somebody was just making that up. But anyway, dug out and I went. Got out in town and, you know, Shannon, once you get out of your. Your neighborhood road, it's actually fine.
Shannon
It's game on then.
Matt Jones
Yeah, it's fine in Louisville.
Drew Franklin
It's just.
Matt Jones
It's just getting out of your neighborhood is. Is, I think, where I just kept seeing people spin on the streets they live on. But once you're on the main roads, they're basically Shannon clear.
Shannon
Yeah, they're good. I mean, I had to dig myself out and I drive a Jeep and it wasn't able to get out of my driveway on Sunday. But yeah, once you get out, for the most part, the roads are good.
Matt Jones
Yeah. So. So anyway, and then Kentucky, it looks like, has gotten an ox full. And Drew, it sounds like the game will be on tonight. Vandy's powers back on. So it's game on this evening.
Drew Franklin
Hopefully they make it the rest of the way. The Nashville, it'd be big. They're only in Knoxville. I'm worried about them.
Matt Jones
Wait a minute. They're in Knoxville.
Drew Franklin
You said the Catherine Knoxville.
Matt Jones
Focus on the Big Picture. They're in Nashville the other, and they're playing tonight. And I was kind of surprised to see Vandy is only a six and a half point favorite. I mean, that's. I would have thought it would have been more. That's a relatively small number to me. Do you give us, Ryan, any chance of winning tonight?
Ryan Lemond
Well, I asked Shannon this, and I'll ask you what the magic number is, because they score a lot of points. They usually score in the 90s, and when they're in Memorial Gym, they're very, very effective. So what, what do you think the magic numbers Kentucky needs to hold?
Matt Jones
I don't know that we can win a game that they score more than 80. I mean, I think we have to win like 81, 80 or 79, 76. I mean, I don't, I'm not sure. This team absent getting really hot. I mean like getting really hot. Drew, I don't think you can go in thinking you're going to score in the 80s. I think what's more important for Kentucky is how well they, they play defense. I mean, I think you have to take the position to make Vandy hit outside shots and if they hit them, you go, well, we did our best.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, we don't talk about enough, but Kentucky's got the second best scoring defense in the conference right now. I mean in these wins, you know, we get annoyed, we fall back a little bit. But they've done a good job of holding teams beneath their scoring average. I, I'm leaning towards. They'll be able to do that a little bit tonight. I'm, I'm looking for a close game, maybe even a cat's win. Vandy had the three game losing streak. I mean Vandy lost three straight, just beat Mississippi State. Okay, whatever. They can't beat anybody. So they were in a little bit of a funk just a game ago. Whereas Kentucky's won five in a row. I'm, I'm talking myself into making it six in a row tonight. I'm feeling a little bit. And I was as negative as anyone just a few weeks ago.
Matt Jones
Huh. Is that a pick? I mean you'll get to do it at the end of the show, but I mean for a graphic.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, I think I had 79, 77 was my score. I think we get it done. They've the winning lately hasn't been luck. They've found a way to win five. Well, Mississippi State, they won big, but the last four have been close games where they've pulled away in the final minute. And that's not just getting by here lately. I really think they're finding a way to win. Whereas Vandy, yeah, they won their last one before that, had three straight losses. I'm, I'm starting to feel something heading into Nashville here.
Matt Jones
Shannon, you are at your heart of hearts an evil Vandy fan. Are you when you hear Drew say that? What, what, what do you think?
Shannon
I kind of felt like the six and a half you said you thought I had the opposite thought. I thought that was kind of low. I thought that Kentucky would probably, if they're going to lose maybe about three, four points. I don't feel like six. Like six and a half is kind of high. You thought it was low.
Matt Jones
I thought, see, we're all over the.
Shannon
Place and that's the. Well, the problem is with Vandy, it's hard to figure out who they are because they started.
Matt Jones
But who are we?
Shannon
That's true too.
Matt Jones
Who are we? I mean, like I, again, I'm, I'm, I am very positive about the fact that we've won all these games, but we also could have lost a lot of these games. Should have lost the LSU game.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And so it's hard for me to say it's not about emotion for me when I'm, I mean, I picked that nine and a half point spread last week because that's just what I thought it would be. If you asked me what this was going to be, I would have thought it would have been eight and a half or nine because I would have thought, you know, Vandy is at home. We have struggled to win down there. When they're good in general, we're not very good. And even though we've won these, we have one really impressive win and that's the win over Tennessee. So. So I don't know, Ryan. I'm glad that people give us a chance. I kind of think the game will be close, but I don't, I'm, I'm just a little surprised we're getting the respect we're getting on it.
Ryan Lemond
I feel like we match up really well on the back court with Ortega, Aberdeen and Chandler with Nichols and Miles and Tyler.
Matt Jones
Tanner is the one guy playing.
Shannon
Is Duke, Miles playing questionable. Their play by play guy was on with Tom Leach and he's like, I don't even know where that's coming from. I expect him to play. So he doesn't even know he's gonna play.
Ryan Lemond
All right, go ahead. I felt like we match up really well in the back court, front court. That's where Florida killed him. Hawk and Condon and those big guys just dominated Vanity inside so far. Big guys can do anything at all tonight. I think that could be a huge difference.
Matt Jones
Yeah. I mean, as long. As long as our big guys, I would say if we can play them even or a little bit better, you have a chance. Do you, do you think the crowd. I mean, normally we get a good Kentucky crowd there. I don't know what the status of everything is in western Kentucky from a weather standpoint. Do you think Drew, we get our normal Kentucky contingent down there?
Drew Franklin
No, I don't think we have that one. I don't think we'll be traveling much because of how bad it is. But also they flipped a little switch a little bit with excitement. I don't know that we were going to have the normal takeover. I mean we would have gotten in but Vandy has been showing up all season long. This year I even have friends that go to Vandy games. Just like it's like a social event now to go to Vandy games. It sounds outrageous. So I don't know that we're gonna have the true takeover. But now with the weather, I worry about us getting it at all. But also don't know how many of them would go because it's so bad down there right now. Maybe they have a lot of power out. Maybe people want to get out of the house.
Matt Jones
I don't know.
Drew Franklin
But I don't think it'll be a good crowd.
Matt Jones
I see a lot though. Their state arena is on campus so I could see them getting a lot Shannon of the student popular. I mean like what else are they doing right? They're not doing it. They can't go anywhere.
Shannon
Yep.
Matt Jones
So I could see, I could actually see it being more rowdy of a crowd for Vandy Shannon than they're used to. If they end up with all those students.
Shannon
I think you're right. I think there'll be less Kentucky fans than normal. You had a guy who was driving a snowplow call in on the pre show. He was in western Kentucky. He said the roads are still really bad there there. So that may stop a lot of Kentucky fans coming from, from that area into Nashville for the game.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Well we will see now. Now last night, Ryan, also I got out for dinner. I drove to Fern Creek. Okay. Good people in Fern Creek. Sure. Shannon, that's your neck of the woods, right?
Shannon
I used to live. I lived there for 10 years.
Matt Jones
Yeah. I mean I gave it good, good, good. People in Fern Creek was the winter restaurant. Louisville game was on. And I just want to thank this person, Ryan. This happens. This happens to me more in Fern Creek than anywhere else. People just buy my meal and don't tell me. So when it comes time to pay, they're like it's been taken care of. And then the people don't ever say who it is. And that's probably happened to me four or five times in Fern Creek. I don't know that's happened anywhere else. So I wanted to Shannon, to first of all praise your area of Louisville.
Shannon
Well, that's very Very nice of them. Normally it's the opposite for me. They charge me double and say that guy says it's on your tab.
Matt Jones
No, they do, but. And then, and then I am. This is what I wanted your opinion on. When that happens. What do you do with a tip? Do you. Do you tip? I end up tipping about what I was going to pay for the dinner. And I feel, and I feel like that. So here's what I think. I think the waitresses know that and they're trying to get people to pay for it because then they get a bigger tip. That's gonna be my, that's gonna be my explanation of what.
Shannon
That's a good strategy. That's very generous of you to do that, I think.
Sponsor/Guest Voice
Yeah.
Shannon
You probably pay at least close to what you would have paid anyway and just consider it, you know, paying for.
Matt Jones
But it's very nice.
Shannon
Yes.
Matt Jones
So I wanted to say to whoever said that last night, thank you and to a shout out to the woman who was sitting next to me at the bar who said her name was Tara and that her whole family listened. I said I would give her a shout out as well. So that's my shout outs for the day. See, when snow comes, Ryan, I'm in a good mood. So there you go.
Ryan Lemond
Well, we're so proud of you right now for the tipping the waitress and for digging your car out of the snow. Grow up right in front of our eyes.
Matt Jones
Yes. And borrowing a shovel without.
Ryan Lemond
Maybe closer to stealing than borrowing.
Shannon
And you didn't even say where you went in Fern Creek. But I already know where you went.
Matt Jones
It was two different places. Last night was different than where you think I go.
Shannon
Okay.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Shannon
Just so you know, we don't have to say, but I'll tell you off the air where you went. I'm sure I'll be right.
Matt Jones
Well, no, you're. You're thinking I went to Roosters because I go there quite a bit.
Shannon
Is that not where you went?
Matt Jones
That's not where I went last.

Welcome back. Teche Sports Radio, 859-280-2287. Tax machine is 772-774-5254. One person writes. Matt, you should tell the guys that what you did with the shovel is borrowed. Borrowing without permission. Drew, I like that slogan, borrowing without permission.
Drew Franklin
I guess you did have the intent to return it. You did return it. I'm just worried if something had gone wrong, what that situation would have looked.
Matt Jones
What was going to go wrong?
Drew Franklin
If you'd snap the handle off, what.
Matt Jones
Were you going to do? Experienced shovels, we don't.
Shannon
What I would like to know is, like, how far would you go with this borrowing without asking permission? Like, would you take a leaf blower if it were over there, like a snowblower?
Matt Jones
Do you have to plug it in?
Shannon
No. It runs off gas.
Matt Jones
No. Then I wouldn't do that.
Shannon
Because you don't start it.
Matt Jones
No, because I wouldn't do that because I'd be taking his gas.
Drew Franklin
Okay.
Matt Jones
So, like, he has this. Yeah. I mean, I. Me using his shovel.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Doesn't put him out any. But if I. You. If I use something of his that has gas, then I'm costing him money.
Shannon
Okay.
Matt Jones
So I would not use. That's why I asked if he plugged in. And I mean, I've got the electricity.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
So.
Shannon
Okay, so no, your line is.
Drew Franklin
I got.
Matt Jones
That's my line.
Shannon
Okay.
Matt Jones
I feel like that's a fair line here.
Ryan Lemond
The neighborly thing to do. You bought his shovel. You should have also shoveled his car out of the snow.
Matt Jones
No. I don't know. First of all, I don't know which car is.
Shannon
You could have asked him. He was right there.
Matt Jones
Yeah, well, I mean, I don't want it. I don't want to get involved in his life.
Ryan Lemond
He's gonna steal his shovel.
Matt Jones
Well, he may want it shoveled a certain way that I don't. Oh. That I don't know how to. To do. Amari Williams. Drew had a career high in minutes last night. Played 25 minutes for the Celtics against the Blazers. He's getting raves from his Teammates now the top two bigs on the Celtics are hurt. So I don't know that this will continue all year. But he's playing well. Are you surprised at that? Our guy Mari seeing some success.
Drew Franklin
I figured he'd have a good shot. I'm surprised to see like the big game he had over the weekend and just how much they love him in Boston. Even that game in Brooklyn where his teammates mobbed him. You could tell they love a guy who's not even around that much then he played well last night. I guess I'd say I'm surprised that he's in the role he's in because they seem to really appreciate him. But I'm not surprised that he had a chance. He's making the most of it. I mean, he had as many points as Shane Sharp last night. Did he even, maybe even more minutes. So really the former cat in that game I think played the most. And then they tied in points. So go Omari.
Matt Jones
I love it. I mean, I'm really happy for him. I did not think with his inability to shoot from the outside, Ryan, that you could play him in the NBA, but I mean the Celtics are one of the best coached teams. So he probably ended up in a good spot. He's surrounded by a team that everyone else can shoot, so that probably helps it a little bit. And he's smart. We saw that when he was here. So I think that's why it ends up working out.
Ryan Lemond
I gotta admit, I thought his lack of offensive game would limit him. He would never be able to play in the NBA. But if he can find his role, the right spot, the right team, pass, rebound, play good defense, you can find a spot on a team like that. And he's done it. So I'm proud of him.
Matt Jones
One person writes, Matt, here in Woodford county we've been having frost quakes all night. Have you all experienced one of the frost quakes?
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, I did.
Matt Jones
Did you?
Ryan Lemond
I was in my basement last night and I thought somebody was in my house and something fell at my house. It like shook the house. I thought for sure somebody just dropped something upstairs in my house.
Matt Jones
So I have never heard this term before in my life. Shannon. My inclination is it's made up.
Shannon
I've never heard it either.
Matt Jones
But now in 24 hours I've heard everyone say it.
Shannon
Frost.
Matt Jones
Frost quakes.
Ryan Lemond
Yep.
Matt Jones
So do we know what it is?
Drew Franklin
No, I've never heard that term. But it's just like the popping with the ice in the ground. Because I've heard that I'VE never heard it, though.
Matt Jones
It's apparently below ground. Is that right, Ryan?
Ryan Lemond
I think so. Something about kind of combination. What you said, what Drew said. The ice cracking way underground causes this like, little tremor. Yeah, it's just a sound, but.
Matt Jones
Well, it doesn't shake the ground like.
Drew Franklin
A bang or what I've heard like a pop.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, it sound like something that dropped in my house. That's what it sound like. Somebody dropped something in my house.
Matt Jones
Had you all, any of you heard the phrase until yesterday? No.
Drew Franklin
No, I hadn't heard it until you just said it. I just am guessing that that's what that is.
Matt Jones
Is that a common phrase, Shannon? Had you ever heard it?
Shannon
Not until right now. I'm not sure that Ryan was experiencing a frost. Quick though. How do you know something just didn't get knocked off?
Ryan Lemond
I went from top to bottom, opened every closet. Every.
Matt Jones
Yeah, we're just assuming it's a frost quake. We don't know that for sure.
Shannon
Exactly.
Drew Franklin
Do they damage. Do they separate like an earthquake?
Ryan Lemond
It was just a noise. There was nothing going on. It just this noise that happened.
Matt Jones
I'm gonna lean. That wasn't a frost queen.
Shannon
Me too.
Matt Jones
I think a frost quake is supposed to give you, like, just a mild little. Right. Or why else would it be a quake? Then it would just be a frost pop.
Shannon
We need to point on here. It's what we need. He can explain it to us.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I mean, otherwise it's just a frost pop, which you can also buy Kroger. I. I don't think it's. I think the quake requires a.
Shannon
A rattling of your windows or something. Not just a noise.
Matt Jones
Well, yes. If only we knew weatherman, that we could ask. Exactly.
Drew Franklin
I had a number. Phone number, phone.
Matt Jones
Who's up first?
Shannon
All right, let's go to Andrew.
Matt Jones
Andrew, go ahead. Andrew.
Caller
Hey. Morning, guys. First time, long time.
Matt Jones
What's up?
Caller
So kind of touching on what y' all said earlier. I think we got a pretty good shot against Mandy. If you look in there. Three losses. One, except for the Florida one when they scored 94. And you got to take away one of the front quarter backcourt. I think we can take away the front court. I don't want to rely on our guards getting in foul trouble because that's a real slippery slope on the defensive end. But definitely think if you limit their front court scoring and your rebound, well, we can. We can win by scoring 80. I feel pretty good about that. And then the last thing that I kind of wanted to leave y' all with if you want to make some money today, Vandy spread. First half Kentucky moneyline parlay. It hit five games in a row. It's plus 1200 today. It is an absolute cash cow if you're a small wager guy like me.
Matt Jones
Interesting. So you bet. Bet Vanny in the first half, Kentucky money line in the second.
Caller
Going back to our first or our game against Mississippi State, every team we've played, per usual first half's been awful. Our opponent has covered the spread every time, but we've won every game. So money line and for the full games. But at halftime.
Matt Jones
Makes sense. I appreciate the call. Makes. Makes complete sense. Who do we. Is the. Is the. You all have like a really chubby guy, right?
Shannon
McLoughlin you're talking about?
Matt Jones
Yeah. He's pretty good, isn't he?
Shannon
He's pretty good, yeah.
Matt Jones
He's thick though, right?
Shannon
Yeah, he's a big guy underneath Tyler Nichols, the guy that's leading the SEC in three point shooting. So that's the guy they really need to watch out for because if he gets hot, it's gonna be hard to beat him.
Matt Jones
But the thick guy, he's one of those dudes that really annoys you if he's on the other team, right? Yeah, because he doesn't look like he should be good.
Shannon
You can play bully ball, though.
Matt Jones
Oh, for sure. Yeah. I wonder if we. Do you think we have a guy to bully up to him, Ryan, because he's thick?
Drew Franklin
He was there last year and he both games played Kentucky well, too.
Matt Jones
I remember that. He's the thicker picker. And he is a. He's a massive dude. We will have to be ready for him. We'll take a break. Be right back. Ksr. Welcome back, Chucky Sports Radio. All right, I have a definition, Ryan, of. Of frost quake.
Ryan Lemond
The frost quake.
Matt Jones
Hit it. All right, so when water gets in the soil and before it has time to completely seep in and be absorbed, the ground rapidly freezes to near zero degrees. It will expand more quickly and take up more density than the water, which will cause the frozen, you know, water to expand and crack and pop, which can lead to a loud noise and minor ground shaking. That is a frost. Frostquake.
Ryan Lemond
We learned something today on this. On this radio program. How about that?
Matt Jones
Can you repeat it in case people couldn't hear?
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, just go to the website, Crossquake.com.
Matt Jones
I knew he didn't listen, right? I knew he didn't listen. I. Even though I'm not there with you all, and I can't See him? I could picture him not paying attention.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, I don't know. He's pre locked in. Today's hair's combed.
Matt Jones
He did the pre show.
Drew Franklin
He was here very early. I thought I was getting here early.
Matt Jones
You combed your hair?
Drew Franklin
He's already set up. The lights are on. I think he's pretty dialed in today.
Ryan Lemond
I had to get up, take a shower at 7:30 this morning. It was so cold. It woke me up immediately.
Matt Jones
One person writes, Matt, do you all approve of the LMPD's funny tweets during the storm?
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, I saw some of those.
Shannon
Loved them. Love them. And if you're offended by that, then maybe you stay off the Internet. I mean, really, if you can't understand the sarcasm, yeah, it's hilarious. But people were upset about it.
Matt Jones
Kind of surprised that they handed it over to them like that, though. I mean, that's clearly like a funny kid that was given the phone. Are you surprised? They kind of gave them. I mean, they started. When I first looked at the tweets, they had 44,000 followers. Now they have 108,000.
Ryan Lemond
Wow.
Matt Jones
In three days, apparently. There was a story about it on CBS News last night. Like, I thought it was funny. Like, they're making jokes and. But they're also telling you what's going on. I see no problem, Drew. But I am surprised that they kind of got away with it for so many days.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, I loved it. I need to know. I'm with you. I need to know the inside baseball here of how this happened. Like, were they just sitting around the office and they have, like, somebody funny. They're like, why don't you just take over? Did someone give it to their kid? Because I don't know what would make a police department do that, especially during some serious times with the weather. But I'm glad they did because it made great content. It was great news.
Matt Jones
Scroll.
Drew Franklin
Like, the next one's better than the last one. It just keeps going.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
For people who don't know, if you were to go on Twitter to the LMPD account, you'll see all of these. And it's, you know, it's. It's kind of amazing. And they're making fun of people who decide to go drive and get their car stuck. Shannon.
Shannon
Yeah, they're saying exactly what I'm thinking.
Matt Jones
Yeah, exactly. And I will say I'm sure it actually probably, you know, at a time where the, you know, not all publicity that law enforcement's getting is positive, this makes them seem like they have A, you know, a funny, funny heart and a good sense of humor. So, Shannon, I think it's probably good.
Shannon
It's great. They just put a poll up. Should the department social media remain balanced or stay unhinged? I am voting right now. Unhinged. And it's 97% to 3. Unhinged.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
Well, it actually shows stuff. Like there's a. There shows police officers pushing a car out, which is nice. We need to see that. But then the cat. The tweet says, our cops don't skip leg day. Like, okay, we got the video that shows they're out doing good. But then the caption was funny. It's harmless.
Matt Jones
So they do. They did, however, issue an apology last night. Do you think that was a joke? Said, good afternoon. The LMPD wishes to apologize for the tone of our tweets. Our social feeds do not accurately reflect the entire department or this community.
Ryan Lemond
Come on.
Shannon
Yeah. Again, that's where the people who are complaining.
Matt Jones
But you see, you don't think that. You don't think that. That's like. You don't think they really had to apologize?
Shannon
It sounds like they did. I don't think there's any sarcasm in that tweet. I think that's for the people who.
Matt Jones
Are offended, which they also then tweeted. HR asked us, we understand the serious seriousness of our actions. We nodded respectfully, then asked if we could tweet that. We nodded respectfully.
Shannon
They're back.
Drew Franklin
The poll. The results on the poll are great. There's 72,000 votes, and 97% say stay unhinged.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Well, I think well done to the lmpd. I. I think you guys. I think they. They crushed it. And well done now. I enjoyed watching Drew Louisville get destroyed by Duke last night. Lost by 30. They were up 25, 24, and then didn't make a shot for like, 10 minutes. Got destroyed. Pat Kelsey, who you know, now we have to be careful. We have a coach the same that hired at the same time as him. They beat us this year. I recognize all that, but his record against teams that are, like, top 30 in the Kim Palm or whatever is like 1 in 13. I think we're the one, unfortunately, but seems like there's some of the Louisville fans starting to have some questions about little Pat.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, I haven't really been dialed into the Louisville scene until last night when I just saw on Twitter everyone complaining about him. I didn't know it had gotten that bad. I know Duke beat him by 30, and I think Brown had a Terrible game, box score watching. But it was the reaction that I got caught up in. I didn't realize his seat was as hot as it is. Did this kind of just start brewing in the last few weeks?
Matt Jones
I think when they beat us. I think when they beat us, they convinced themselves they were a national championship contender, and now they know they're clearly not. And then Mikhail Brown, there was. There was so much like gossip about whether he wasn't going to play and whether he was. There was a lot of gossip around Louisville, and I think all that's led to some negativity. And then even though we've struggled in the last few years, you know, they had the Kenny Payne era, so they really need to be good because they haven't been in a long time. And I think. Right. All that combines to where their fans are. They get fed up pretty easily.
Ryan Lemond
They've gone from when they beat us. Me thinking that this is one of the top 10 teams in the country to now they are going the exact opposite way. They looked horrible last night. Even with Mikhail Brown. They're going backwards.
Matt Jones
Yeah. No, I mean, they're. They're not going to be ranked next week. And if you look at their schedule, they'll pick up a bunch of wins, but they don't play a lot of good teams because the ACC stinks. So, I mean, there's very little they can do for their seat. Like, I think their chances of getting like a top three seed went away last night. So, you know, it is what it is. I will. I did watch Arizona. Byu. Arizona is really good. Yeah, they are like a. BYU came back at the end. But Arizona, I think Arizona is my pick right now to win the whole thing. Who's next, Bill?
Drew Franklin
They might go ahead and feed it.
Matt Jones
I hope not. I don't want anybody to go undefeated because we should have been 2015. Go ahead, Bill.
Caller
Hey, man. First time caller who are.
Matt Jones
What's up?
Caller
Not a whole lot. It's funny that you guys are actually talking about, like, Louisville right there. I actually wanted to preference if I actually am a, like, a Louisville fan, but I wanted to call in just to kind of actually say how good Yalls podcast is. I've actually learned quite a whole lot of, like, random little fun things from y', all, especially the COVID Zero podcast you and Drew do. I just wanted to let you guys know, like, how pretty good and entertaining.
Matt Jones
You guys, like, truly are.
Caller
Yeah, I have a. My co worker listens to you all, like all the time on lunch and I was just like, well, I'm actually learning a lot of random little things like here and whatnot. So especially during, like, the winter storms and stuff like that, it's always nice to kind of have a good podcast to go to.
Matt Jones
Well, I appreciate it. That's what we should be. That's what this show should be known as. Random Little Things.
Shannon
I'm sure that name hasn't been taken. It's not too late to change it.
Drew Franklin
Rlt. Ksr.
Matt Jones
Okay. Srlt. There you go. What's next?
Shannon
By the way, if anybody wants frostquick.com it is for sale, you could have it for $3,795. Anybody wants that website?
Matt Jones
Did I ever tell you when I tried to buy ksr.com?
Shannon
No.
Matt Jones
So we tried to buy ksr.com and this was because we had Kentucky Sports Radio. And as it started to get popular in like 2008, I tried to buy ksr.com and at the time it was like some sort of logistics company, but they didn't seem to be using it. And I remember they asked me and they said, we'll sell it to you for fifteen hundred dollars. And we didn't really at the time have fifteen hundred dollars. So we didn't. And I always wish we had because, you know, if you had ksr.com how good that would be. I've tried to buy the Twitter account Matt Jones from that British guy for a decade. He just won't.
Shannon
He's like, greenland, we're not for sale.
Matt Jones
No, he is green.
Shannon
We're not going anywhere.
Matt Jones
He's like. I'm like, I can treat you better, Matt. John. He's like, no, I'm keeping Matt Jones. So what are you going to do? Who's next?
Shannon
Ben.
Matt Jones
Ben. Go ahead, Ben.
Caller
Oh, hey, Matt. Hey, man. First off, I just wanted to thank the good people of Lexington who did not shovel their driveways. I was walking to the gym this morning and the scariest parts were them shovel parts that were just iced all the way over.
Matt Jones
Oh, so you're.
Ryan Lemond
You're pro.
Matt Jones
Not shoveling.
Caller
Well, the mayor came out today and said that they aren't enforcing that.
Matt Jones
Yeah, he did. She did. She said there's a. It's a reprieve for 24 hours until the state of emergency ends. Ryan, you do not have to shovel.
Ryan Lemond
As it should be.
Caller
Yes, absolutely. Do not do that. And then now I'm not. I'm not a certified ball knower, but I went to the Ole Miss game and the biggest thing that worried me going forward and you taught me out of this, but it felt like our bigs were just getting bullied around in the pain. I'm not going to say, you know, weak. I don't want to be derogatory. I love our guys and maybe Ole Miss is just getting away with a lot of being physical, but it felt like there was a lot of, you know, points in the paint that could have been and one that turned into making one free throws. Felt like we were losing some defense.
Matt Jones
I agree with you. No, I'm with you. We do get out physical down low. I appreciate the call. I think I am. That is a frustrating thing Drew to watch. We get out physical most games and even our guys that are supposed to be physical get out physical. I mean, I think Malachi and Yellow Bitch are supposed to be more kind of finesse guys, but even Diabate and Garrison, I think they get out physical too.
Drew Franklin
Early in the Ole Miss game was about as bad as I've seen too Yellow Bitch twice in the first few minutes. Just had the ball ripped out of his hand that Malik Dio was pushing Malachi Marino wherever he wanted to push him around. And then when Garrison came in who actually has a little more size to him and has gone through the square, they start shoving him around. So I was shocked by how bad it was in that Ole Miss game. It was like that at Tennessee too early. I was, I was thinking Moreno can't even play in this matchup. It got a little better. But early on in both those it was like they didn't even stand a chance.
Matt Jones
The only thing that changed the second half is our big started tipping the rebounds instead of trying to grab them and then the guards would get them. Maybe that's what we have to do because we were getting out physical the entire time. Don't stop overpaying for sunglasses if you're tired of buying expensive sunglasses only to lose or break them. Welcome back. Techie Sports Radio, 859-280-2287. They canceled the Tennessee Ole Miss women's game because of how bad things are in Oxford. Ryan, I don't know if you've seen. I have friends there. So they were telling me last night, I was talking to my friends that live there. They the city is like, no one has power. All the trees are down and most of the roads are blocked. And the city has said that the cell phone towers have one more day of energy in, so people have no electricity. They really have nowhere to go because they can't get out because the tree, these massive old southern trees are in the middle of the road and it's 2 inches of ice and it's 5 degrees. It sounds miserable and it sounds like a situation that like today can get a lot worse. I don't know how much coverage it's getting, but it feels like what's happening there in that part of Mississippi is really, really bad.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, you're right. Those old trees, they, when they fall, they're going to fall on the street or fall on a power line and they cause all those power outages. That's where like all these, the good thing about, like all these electric companies, they all kind of swarm to areas that need it. So I'm sure there's trucks on the way trying to.
Matt Jones
But I mean, I think there, it's all over that northern Mississippi area. Have you seen some of the visuals drew from Oxford, Mississippi? I mean, those are areas you and I know pretty well. It's crazy.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, I've seen a lot of them. I saw their student center, invited people because they had heat, but they're like, well, we don't have any food or water, but you can come get warm.
Matt Jones
Yeah, there's people like the dorms apparently now have heat. And Shannon, they're literally just inviting people in the city to come stay in the dorms.
Shannon
That's. Yeah, it's nice of them to do that, but that's crazy. And Nashville has got a lot of ice, too. I'm sitting here looking at pictures right now on Twitter. They've got a ton of ice down there. Still.
Matt Jones
One person Writes Matt, did the ice and snow get Ryan out of eating alone? It postponed it because again, I didn't want to listen to him whine, chanting about not being able to get to a restaurant.
Shannon
I know, right? Yeah.
Matt Jones
So we postponed it. And then we're at the super bowl next week, so we're not forgetting.
Shannon
Yeah, I told him I was going to remind you of this. He still needs to go out.
Matt Jones
We're still going. And you're not going to be able to do it next week because we're going to be at the Super Bowl. But, Ryan, you're still going. Mario is following you like it is happening. I just want you to know I.
Ryan Lemond
Got a little good, you know, test run the past couple days. Having to eat by myself. Had to fix myself my own.
Matt Jones
But you haven't been out yet.
Ryan Lemond
No, I've not been out yet.
Matt Jones
Okay. Speaking of being out, we will have the game at the bar tonight. Late. I know it'll be cold, but we've got a bunch of specials going on. Because it's cold and because it's late to come watch the Kentucky Vandy game. And then Saturday, Ryan doesn't even know this. We're having the Ryan Lemon beat Cal Perry party.
Ryan Lemond
I didn't know this. What will this party consist of?
Matt Jones
Well, we're going to plan it over the next couple days.
Ryan Lemond
Okay.
Matt Jones
But you. You have to think about what would Ryan Lemon want to beat Cal Perry? What would that. What would that party look like?
Ryan Lemond
Okay. I'll be thinking of that. I have no idea.
Matt Jones
At this point, wheels are turning, but it's not you wearing pajamas. That will not help us beat Calpers.
Ryan Lemond
You know, we had the pajama party the other morning. It was. You know, when all the snow's getting ready to happen, we need to bring that back. That was.
Matt Jones
You were one of only a handful of people in pajama.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
Do it again.
Matt Jones
I don't. I don't think. I don't think people wanted to see that. Who's next?
Shannon
Madison.
Matt Jones
Madison. Go ahead. Madison.
Caller
Hello. How we doing, Matt?
Matt Jones
How you doing, stranger? I hope you're doing all right.
Caller
I am. I'm enjoying the snow day, I'll have you know.
Matt Jones
What were you gonna do if it didn't snow? Like, what's a normal Madison day?
Caller
I can't answer that.
Shannon
You don't know what he's up to.
Matt Jones
High five. All right, Mr. Mysterious. I won't ask you. Sorry.
Caller
Yeah, I got two things. One, since next month starts baseball season for you, I know you're a Ridge fan, but do you. Do you think the Reds contend or not? And then to what do you all think the Vandy games get gets canceled or do you think they still have.
Matt Jones
They're gonna play it. They're gonna play it. They'll. They'll play the Vandy game tonight. It's late. Our pregame show will be at 6:30. My postgame show will be in the middle of the night. But I do think they will play it. Far as the Reds, we need a hitter. If we get another big bat, if we can get Suarez or one of those people, then I think we got a shot to be content for the division. If we don't probably be like last year, we'll be like 500. Maybe we get a wild card and then lose in the first round, but right, we need. I wish they would trade one of our pitchers to go get a guy who can hit home runs. I didn't like Terry Francona saying I don't feel like we need to hit home runs. We have the smallest ballpark in baseball and our manager doesn't want to hit home runs.
Ryan Lemond
Why wouldn't you want to go get somebody?
Matt Jones
Just knock, he said we're gonna, we're gonna earn runs.
Ryan Lemond
Well, it's a lot easier when you hit.
Matt Jones
I'll tell you how to earn them. Hit it out of the park.
Shannon
That's how you feel like that's an earned run.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Shannon
If you're the Reds, I think you get runs no matter how you can get them.
Matt Jones
I'm also worried that they, they are reporting, Drew, that Ellie turned down a 200 million dollar extension from the Reds. Makes me think my Ellie time. I'm looking at his bobblehead right now. It may be. May only be a couple more years left.
Drew Franklin
Thought about you and that news came across the ticker. That's not very optimistic for the future of Ellie. And being the face of that franchise.
Matt Jones
The Reds had to sell lemonade just to give that offer. So I don't think it's going to get much, much higher. Who's next?
Shannon
Ben.
Matt Jones
Ben. Go ahead, Ben.
Caller
I guess first off, I'll start with the suggestion for the Ryan Lemon beat Caliper party. I'd say if we lose, somebody gets to tase Ryan and we can live that out.
Matt Jones
What do you think, Ryan? Does that work?
Ryan Lemond
I think we need to appreciate this man's call and have him never call back again.
Matt Jones
They just tell you dry. Go ahead, sir. I wouldn't, I wouldn't do that to him without his approval.
Caller
Well beyond that, though. You said something yesterday. I actually, I actually really agree with you. But isn't it ironic that, like if we if two years or two or three years ago when Cal Perry was here and we were to play a Mark Pope team, you said yesterday that, you know, Arkansas does everything, everything good that we don't do. But isn't it ironic that if Caliper had still been here and we were playing Mark Pope, we'd probably be saying the same thing about we would, we.
Matt Jones
Would if Mark Pope had a team that could shoot. So it's interesting because I actually think a Mark Pope team that can shoot is Caliperi's weakness, and a Caliperi team with athletes is Mark Pope's weakness. But right now they have a good version of a Cal team, and I'm not sure if we have a good version of a Pope team. We have an okay version, but I don't think we have an ideal version. We'll take a break, come back hour.

iHeartPodcasts and Sports Talk 790 (WKRD-AM)
