This is Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.
Matt Jones
Welcome, everyone. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. Tuesday, February 3rd. I met Jones and we are all in Louisville. A very rare day that the whole crew has shown up in Louisville. We're flying to the super bowl here in at 3 o'clock this afternoon. And so we all came here. Well, I say we, not Ryan and Shannon. Boop, boopy do. That's all right. You didn't want to go, did you?
Shannon
We're good. Just a Super Bowl. Just once in a lifetime opportunity.
Matt Jones
I know, but, like, they'll have another one next year.
Caller
Yeah.
Shannon
Will you take me next year?
Matt Jones
No. Clark's Puppet Shop phone lines, 859-28-2287. A Vision Auto Glass text machine is 772-774-5254 in this issue sponsored by the TJ Smith Law Office. If you call TJ he'll make them pay. Drew, are you packed and ready to go? Have you got all the stuff for all the cool events we're going to?
Drew
I'm packed. I don't know if everything I have is what I need. I'm sure once I get there, I'll realize everything I forgot. But I'm ready. Ready and excited. Ready to go.
Matt Jones
We got the map of radio row. We'll talk about it later. Like, we're. We're in, like, prime territory.
Shannon
You're on the NFL set, right? You're going to do it on the NFL set?
Matt Jones
Well, one day we get it on the NFL set. One day we do it in the lounge with the couches. I don't know what that means.
Drew
I like that they noted they're comfy.
Matt Jones
It said, the comfy couches, they keep giving us guests. And I'm going to read them off later. Like, I don't know what I'm going to ask these people. I feel like I already need to cancel all these.
Caller/Guest
Well, don't forget to tell them that Ryan Lemon says hello.
Matt Jones
Well, I don't know what to say to any of these people. Like, the couple of people, I don't know who they are, and they're football players and I have nothing to Say to any of them, day three, the.
Drew
List is like, who are you?
Matt Jones
Who are you? Who are you people? So that's okay, though.
Drew
We got time to research.
Matt Jones
I don't even know if we need guests. We could just walk around, grab people.
Shannon
I mean, you guys are the NFL experts, so you don't need guests.
Matt Jones
Yeah, who needs guests? First day's good with Terrell Davis.
Drew
We're loaded the first day. I wish they had spread them out a little bit.
Matt Jones
Yeah, we got all the guests on the first day. We're gonna walk in there the first day and just be guesting left and right.
Shannon
John Alexander, any on your guest list?
Matt Jones
Yeah, the busing with the boys. But then as it keeps going, the guests get a little. Okay, but that's all right. 859-280-2287. It's gonna be an ask Anything Wednesday, and I want you to actually ask anything. And the text machine. 772-774-5254. Game tomorrow night. Not a whole lot of news today. Probably Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, we're going to be distracted by all the goings on that have occurred. So this is a good time to kind of ask anything. It can be UK related, or it can just be life related, etc. And we're. We're ready to go. Nice to see you all in.
Shannon
In Louisville, it is very rare and even Billy's going to drive over, like right now, I think, and join us. Right.
Matt Jones
Well, he's got to get on the.
Shannon
Flight, make the flight.
Matt Jones
I have you. Did you notice when you were here how you. All your roads are not as good as these here, though?
Shannon
Yeah, the roads here are much better than in Lexington.
Matt Jones
It is so. Still out of school in Lexington? Yes. Seven days out of school. Probably going to be out of school tomorrow. Probably snow tonight.
Shannon
More snow and ice, I think, this afternoon and tonight.
Matt Jones
So I. You have like two weeks straight of no school.
Shannon
That's what Drew and I were talking. It's supposed to warm up some today before it starts snowing. So all that, some of that snow and ice will melt, but then it'll freeze again. And it's going to be maybe, probably worse tomorrow than it is today.
Drew
My neighborhood was so bad, WKYT went live from my street twice last night. I must have one of the worst neighborhoods in Lexington.
Matt Jones
You don't want that. You don't want wkyt, how terrible this is.
Drew
And your house is just barely out of shot.
Matt Jones
So the mayor apologized. Did you see that?
Shannon
No, I didn't see that.
Matt Jones
The Mayor said, we should have done a better job. She said, we're going to, when this storm is over, completely reevaluate how we do this. Because it was that bad. Now they. The city. I give her credit. She actually did. You know, most of the time, public officials do not take accountability. She did say, look, it was very unique, difficult circumstances. With that said, we've got to do better than this.
Shannon
Right?
Matt Jones
So I give her credit for that. A lot of the city council people are fighting. There's one guy on the city council who's like, I could have cleaned it up by myself with three. Three people and we would have finished it. And then there's other people like, no, but. But this is gonna. Like, she's up for reelection. This. I think the snow and the ice is gonna be the whole battle this year.
Shannon
It could be a big sticking point for re election.
Matt Jones
Most important thing a mayor does she. Even though she probably has nothing to do with. With it, isn't probably the most important thing a mayor does. Snow and ice.
Drew
This impacts everyone. I mean, people are tired of looking at their kids. We're all going to have damages to our cars once all this is cleaned up. Potholes everywhere. My road alone has just wrecked my car already. So it literally. Unless you have just not left your house and not looked outside, it has impacted you in some form.
Shannon
It's like riding on a roller coaster. When you go down our neighborhood streets, it's just bouncing around. It gives you a headache.
Matt Jones
Gives you a headache?
Shannon
Yes. It's just like, well, that's what you.
Matt Jones
All get for living out there.
Shannon
That's true.
Matt Jones
You all live in the burbs.
Shannon
And so since I missed Mayor Gordon's speech, did she say I still have to get out and shovel my sidewalk or. She kind of leaned.
Matt Jones
I haven't heard what the new sidewalk rules are. Have you shoveled anything?
Drew
Heck, no.
Matt Jones
Someone shoveled mine.
Shannon
Your sidewalk?
Matt Jones
Yes, in my steps. It was not me. So I want to thank. I don't know who it was, Shannon, but someone while I was just away for a day, really, when I was in, they ended up shoveling it.
Caller/Guest
Maybe your neighbor who you stole their shovel.
Matt Jones
I give them a lot of credit. Whoever that was, thank you very much.
Shannon
Would your landlord be responsible enough?
Matt Jones
I didn't know this would have been somebody. I think it was a neighbor.
Shannon
Well, you do live by that huge city park. I guess you want to keep that clear and clean.
Matt Jones
Yeah, but first of all, that's a nice park. Why do you have to be mean.
Caller/Guest
To not Even a park.
Matt Jones
It's a room is bigger than that park. It is a park. It is. The children play. I can throw.
Shannon
I have never seen a children play.
Matt Jones
Amazing park. People frolic.
Shannon
I don't think there's 35.
Caller/Guest
30 piece of land.
Matt Jones
Oh, it's a part.
Caller/Guest
30Ft.
Matt Jones
I'm with you. I think it's dumb that that's a park, but all right. 859-280-2287. Are you. Are you excited for our first trip to San Francisco?
Drew
Very excited. I like San Francisco, so I'm just excited to be in San Francisco. You know, we're. We're staying close to Chinatown. I'm gonna make you all go eat there with me. I know you would enjoy that.
Matt Jones
I would love it.
Drew
I don't know about the others.
Matt Jones
We're gonna do that now. The. Ryan's not going. So we do have. Ryan and Shannon are the two least adventurous eaters.
Drew
So I'm excited about just the city. But then also, I know we're not gonna be there for kickoff of the game, but just being part of the event, you know, there will be all the fest and this fest and that fest and the interviews we're doing. I'm just excited to be a part.
Matt Jones
Of the super bowl experience tonight. We're missing Shannon and this would be hilarious. The super bowl media dance party. Dance party. Dance party. If you wanted to see Adam Schefter grind it out, tonight's night, we're going to be flying during it. I. Oh, my goodness. I hate to not see John Werner do the, you know, do the. Dougie, I think this super bowl media dance party, first of all, a chance for HR violations out the wazoo, right? They're gonna. Somebody's gonna lose their job at the super bowl media dance party. Secondly, what first? Most of these parties at the super bowl just so you know, are like 9 to 2 or 10 to 2.
Shannon
Okay.
Matt Jones
The Super bowl media dance party. 7 to 10. Not a late night dance party.
Shannon
Maybe on purpose. Get the media out of here. So it doesn't last all till 4 or 5.
Matt Jones
Well, Sal Pal, can you imagine Sal Pal just like, oh, grinding on the dance floor. Probably the wild one. You think so?
Drew
Oh, yeah. You know, at weddings or big events, there's always someone just dancing by themselves like no one's watching. They just dance the whole night. They don't stop. They're sweaty.
Matt Jones
That Sal Pal rap reports up against the wall.
Drew
Jeff Darlington bouncing things off.
Matt Jones
Things on.
Drew
His fingers that we're going to miss.
Matt Jones
That Chris Berman that may be the.
Shannon
Highlight of the whole week.
Matt Jones
All of them. So we're going to be flying there, so we're going to miss that.
Drew
I feel Billy would have thrived there. Billy's missing out.
Matt Jones
Oh, no, that would have been. Billy talked to everybody. When we went to the Bills game, Billy was, like, handing out his number to people, networking. Oh, he's a networker.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Billy's going to be funny to watch. I think Mario should follow Billy around as he tries because Billy did say he wanted to network.
Shannon
Yeah.
Caller/Guest
Billy just trying to get a job everywhere else but here.
Drew
And Shane can attest to this. I listen to pre show my job. Billy sounded a little nervous.
Matt Jones
Right.
Drew
Shannon packing. He had, like, a lot of anxiety. I could feel.
Matt Jones
What's he nervous about?
Caller/Guest
He's afraid he's going to forget something. I said, like, if you forget your toothbrush, they've got those in San Francisco. It's okay.
Matt Jones
Just all he can't forget is our equipment. We just have to be able to get on the air.
Drew
That was id. Other than that, we'll be all right.
Matt Jones
Yeah, well, he had to go get a new id. He didn't have a passport. He had to go get the real ID he seemed like he was less.
Shannon
Worried about the equipment and more worried about his personal stuff.
Matt Jones
What's he worried about? No one cares what Billy looks like in the thing.
Shannon
Billy does.
Matt Jones
Well, Billy does probably, but he fitting.
Drew
Stuff into that suitcase for a trip this long with everything he needs.
Matt Jones
Well, that's another thing, is the weather. It's that the weather's, like, half cold, half warm. So it's like, that's. That's kind of hard to pack for.
Shannon
Do you suspect that the radio row will be like what it was at the Republican convention? Just tables and people doing shows everywhere? Because.
Matt Jones
No, the. Because people are doing television shows. So, like, when you look at the landscape of it, so Fox Sports TV is right next to us. The NFL Network TV thing is right next to us. Then over here is, like, Pat McAfee and ESPN. Then over there is, like, ESPN radio, and then over there is, like, Yahoo Sports. It's like all, like, the whole thing. Everything's a video setup now. Like, it's not even really radio.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
It's really video podcast production.
Shannon
And each production's got their own stage.
Matt Jones
Their own lights, their own everything. Yeah, so I saw someone was live there yesterday, and I saw the background, and so I kind of saw what it looked like. But it's going to be like, it's going to Be cool. I am. I'm genuinely excited about two things. One, going to that. Yes. I'm not excited about interviewing these football players. After day one, we may just cancel. The other thing is you have to ask them about, like, their. Their. Their. Their thing that they.
Shannon
Charity they're promoting.
Matt Jones
But then not all of them are charities. Some of them are like commercial things. And the problem is I don't care about any of these.
Drew
And it's very specific. It's like, be sure you ask them how they got to San Francisco and how their seat was and then they pitch the airline. It's like, what. We got to be that specific.
Matt Jones
And I don't know how to ask these people these things. Right. Like, I like what. Here we go. So, for instance, I have to. We have to interview Mike Golick senior about Dexcom. How does one even do that? So, Mike, tell me about your friends at Dexcom.
Shannon
There you go.
Matt Jones
And what do I even say when he responds? Awesome, dude.
Shannon
Next caller.
Matt Jones
Dexcom's getting it done, Mike.
Drew
I think that's when we high five. We should high five all of them after they read their sponsor.
Shannon
Yeah, Tell them all I said hello.
Caller/Guest
That's great.
Matt Jones
Yes, good. Tell me about Dexcom and then Christian McCaffrey. Olipop. Hey, Christian. I was just thinking the other day about Olipop. Got some strong feelings about Olipop. What's Olipop?
Shannon
What is only pop?
Drew
I don't know.
Caller/Guest
Pop, isn't it?
Matt Jones
Is it Ollipop?
Caller/Guest
Yeah, I've heard of it.
Shannon
I guess we better figure it out.
Caller/Guest
I think it's just like a soda.
Matt Jones
Soda. When we get busing with the. With busing with the boys, I'm supposed to talk to him about fanduel. First of all, I'm a Draft Kings person.
Shannon
That's true. Yeah. There you go.
Caller/Guest
Conflict of interest. Can't do it.
Matt Jones
Maybe I should fight him.
Drew
We should tell him how much better.
Matt Jones
Draft, you know, much better DraftKings is than FanDuel.
Drew
Do you guys like being second ESPN's.
Shannon
Draft Kings also now. And you're with ESPN.
Drew
Mine. Mine wasn't so much just the sponsors. Like, what are you going to say to Eric Kendricks?
Matt Jones
Who is that?
Drew
He's a linebacker for the 49ers.
Matt Jones
There's a person named Eric Kendricks coming.
Drew
We get 15 minutes with him.
Matt Jones
Eric Kendrick.
Drew
Cam Hart.
Matt Jones
Who's that?
Drew
You got a lot for Christian Watson.
Matt Jones
I've heard of Christian Watson.
Drew
You could talk Bears. He's a powerhouse.
Matt Jones
Who is Cam Hart?
Drew
Cam Hart. He. You know we'll have to ask him.
Shannon
What are you doing these days?
Drew
He's a corner for the Browns.
Matt Jones
Okay. Wow.
Drew
Cam Hart. Do you know Cam Ward?
Matt Jones
So Sean Alexander, sponsor is called Stand Together. I'm sure that's a charity.
Shannon
Sure it is.
Matt Jones
Sure. They do good work.
Shannon
Yes.
Matt Jones
We need people to stand together. Together, I'm going to say. You see Billy over there? He wants people to stand apart. Talk him in the stand. Talk him into why they should stand together.
Drew
Make your 30 second pitch.
Matt Jones
So got this, though.
Shannon
They almost need somebody. Somebody stands beside you guys to give you little tidbits.
Matt Jones
Let me give you the rest of them. Joe Milton is there.
Drew
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Bryce Young.
Drew
That's a good guess.
Matt Jones
That's a good gift.
Drew
We've been very.
Matt Jones
Although it says for the last two questions, Shannon, I need to get up and bring up Artist Stevens, the CEO, to see. Sit alongside of us.
Shannon
What great radio that'll be.
Caller/Guest
When people ask you to bring in, like, CEOs.
Matt Jones
Hello, artists. Wow, that one's brilliant. You love doing stuff like Harrison Phillips. I'm. Harrison has a thing called Harrison's Playmakers. I'm sure that's like. I think it's like a Special Olympics thing. That's good.
Caller/Guest
So who wants these interviews? The NFL, like, network or like, who.
Matt Jones
Who.
Caller/Guest
Who wants these?
Matt Jones
They just. I think they think we want them. And we don't know. We don't know the NFL well enough to say we don't want. It's your one. We're just. Now, we're just. We're lucky to be there. So I can't be like, they're like, we got you, Cam. Heart. And I'm like, no, thanks.
Caller/Guest
Yeah, lunches in five minutes.
Drew
Even though we've not heard of the starting linebacker for the 49ers, we can't big time him in this.
Matt Jones
And I also can't act like I don't know who they are.
Shannon
No, you.
Matt Jones
I can't be like, Cam Hart. And they're like, hey, dude, he's a pro Bowler. Oh, of course he is.
Drew
I know we were going to get my topic today.
Matt Jones
What a good pro bowler he was. So 859-280-2287. This is the content you're going to be getting. So every day, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, we'll be doing our show there, right? And then we'll be doing a cover Zero taping. And then we will also be doing the post game show Wednesday night from there.
Shannon
So all these interviews you're talking about, they're all for a podcast For Cover zero For Cover Zero podcast.
Matt Jones
We do that. Yeah, we're on it twice a week. Thanks for listening.
Shannon
I thought you guys might do a live show for the NFL Network on television.
Matt Jones
Yeah, we don't have a live show now. You think they'd put us on super.
Shannon
Bowl week if they're putting you on that studio on that stage? I thought they might.
Matt Jones
Well, they're not. 859-280-2287. We'll take a break. Be right back.

Shannon
The scenes of your guys wardrobe for the trip.
Matt Jones
I like your wardrobe. That T shirt.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
You got an. He has a shirt that just says Wait a minute. That shirt says ice.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Have you thought. Have you been watching the news? You're wearing a shirt that says ice. I know that's ice. Like icy.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
But do you realize have you followed the news?
Shannon
I followed it, yes.
Matt Jones
Do you want. I mean I'm not. Are you.
Drew
It's not clear.
Matt Jones
Yeah. I mean that could easily be an ice T shirt. Are you. I'm not saying you're pro or con ice, but like are you wanting to insert yourself into this right now?
Shannon
No. Didn't really think of that. When I pulled it out of the drawer this morning.
Drew
I didn't even notice sitting here next.
Shannon
I didn't need anything about it.
Matt Jones
This is such a rye lemon thing. That is a shirt for like. I see right?
Shannon
Well it's Josiah's like AAU team. He's in like in the fifth grade, they were wearing.
Matt Jones
First of all, you're wearing your son's fifth grade T shirt, and it says ice.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And you didn't think before you put it on.
Shannon
Didn't cross my mind.
Matt Jones
ICE has been in the news lately.
Shannon
Didn't even think about it.
Matt Jones
And you are in Louisville.
Shannon
Yeah.
Drew
Right downtown.
Matt Jones
Right downtown. Never thought that could be.
Shannon
I could take it off and do it inside out. Wear it inside out.
Caller/Guest
You just walk down the street.
Matt Jones
I mean, walk down the street. You'll get a reaction. You are unbelievable to me.
Shannon
Didn't even think about it.
Matt Jones
The fact that you didn't even think about wearing a shirt that says ICE on it.
Shannon
They were a really good team back in the.
Matt Jones
That's the kind of thing, like, you would walk like. He's the kind of person who would put on a T shirt that says I love Donald. And it was a Donald Duck T shirt. But he would wear it to, like, the Democratic Convention. Be like, what's. Everybody's. What are you talking about? I love Donald.
Shannon
I love the Donald.
Matt Jones
I was talking about Duck.
Drew
This is why we love Ryan.
Matt Jones
This is. You are amazing. I cannot.
Drew
So innocent.
Matt Jones
It's so innocent. You're not taking any stand. No. But you're wearing a T shirt, and all it says Shannon is ice. That's the only thing it says.
Caller/Guest
Yeah. I didn't even notice.
Matt Jones
You are an unbelievable human.
Caller/Guest
Doubt he even noticed.
Shannon
No, not until Matt mentioned it. I had no idea.
Matt Jones
You are. You are amazing. Like, you really are amazing. 859280, 2287. One person says, Did Billy get a new suitcase? I hope not. He did. Yeah, he did. That's unfortunate. I'd like for him to have rolled up and that suitcase was one of my favorite moments that's happened. Happened a long time. Apparently that Ollie Pop is. Is healthy Soda, Shannon. And people are saying it's very good.
Caller/Guest
I've had it before, I think, okay.
Matt Jones
But maybe I'll learn a lot about it. They're still running your Wild Eggs ad. Did you not recut it? No.
Shannon
I had a conversation with Travis, the Wild Eggs guy, yesterday.
Matt Jones
They want to keep it.
Shannon
And he was ecstatic. He goes, I can't pay for that kind of exposure. This ad is giving Wild Eggs because that's why we pay for a spot.
Matt Jones
And we see this is awful because this is going to encourage the worst parts of you.
Shannon
Probably somebody wants me to do another over the top ad and like, yeah, okay, you gonna pay me? I'll do it.
Matt Jones
They were.
Shannon
He was a Static. That's why we pay for Ryan Lemon to do a Spock. We want that Ryan Lemon effect.
Caller/Guest
That's the.
Matt Jones
It's an effect. It's an effect. Thinking about you with eggs. 859-280-2287 Ask Anything Tuesday before you get the phones. Brandon Hawthorne Bray. Is it Braden or Brandon?
Shannon
Braden.
Matt Jones
Braden sprained his egg. So it looks like even if they were considering him pulling the red shirt, they're not. We see with a little ankle doctor left with Cal.
Drew
He's a Vandy now. And look at. Look how good Vandy is.
Matt Jones
And does Vandy have any sprained ankles.
Drew
Also Pope mentioned kind of in passing that owe rolled his ankle before the.
Matt Jones
Ark said, oh, wait, has a sore ankle.
Drew
So we do need the ankle dog back.
Matt Jones
Are there any. I keep asking this. There's nobody who thinks all of these injuries at some point can't be a coincidence.
Drew
The ankle stuff, now, that's a little different. Like I feel like the shoulder, you know, that's going to happen. But ankles, you can't prevent them. But if they just keep happening over and over and over, there are questions of why are we not. We're not taping up. I mean, what. What's the problem here? That's something I think could be controlled a little better. You can't stop a turned ankle. But if you just keep having them over and over like we've been hearing here lately, I think that could be an issue with training. I say that having no medical training as well.
Shannon
I don't remember anything like this ever. Or a UK basketball team in back to back years have had this extensive. When your top three players from last year and top three players for this year all get hurt, makes zero sense to me.
Caller
I don't know.
Shannon
There's something got to be behind it.
Caller/Guest
Who are we blaming then? You know, blame Pope.
Shannon
The floor, the air conditioner.
Matt Jones
You think it's going to be the floor?
Shannon
Could be the air conditioner.
Caller/Guest
We blame the floor. When we lost at Wilmington. That new floor.
Matt Jones
Annabelle.
Drew
Yeah.
Shannon
Annabelle.
Caller/Guest
Blame the doll.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Caller/Guest
You laughed at her.
Matt Jones
I did.
Caller/Guest
She's getting the last laugh at you.
Drew
Still laughing.
Matt Jones
Middle fingers up. Annabelle, let's go to Take it back.
Shannon
Take it back.
Caller/Guest
I just broke their leg.
Matt Jones
Let's go to Greg. Go ahead, Greg.
Caller
Good morning, gentlemen. I have about two to three points I'd like to make.
Matt Jones
Well, you can do two and you gotta go quick.
Caller
Gotta go quick. First of all, since we're on negativity regarding Ryan, I just kind of want to. Would like to get a response from him if he ever faced Coach Cal in the near future, how he might respond to what he said about him Saturday night. How would you respond?
Shannon
Ryan, you're saying when I was saying cow, you suck.
Caller
Remember those two words you said?
Matt Jones
Yeah. You did chant cow, you suck. I thought that. I did think that was a little much.
Shannon
Well, you know, you're in the moment, the crowd. We just want a big game. And you know, we'd beat him on his home floor after he beat us.
Matt Jones
You would act like you didn't say anything.
Shannon
Of course I would. No one say, cal, hey, how you doing? Good to see you again.
Matt Jones
And he will completely put his tail between his legs and go, what's your set? What's your second one?
Caller
I kind of thought, okay, the second one being Shannon. I'm gonna give you some credit. I know probably you've got quite a bit of this before. I'm guessing I haven't heard anybody say anything, but you certainly killed it. Were spot on with Malam Kai Marino back when you. Maybe before the season even started. I'm not sure.
Caller/Guest
Yeah, yeah, I was talking about him September when nobody was talking about him.
Matt Jones
Yep. Yeah. Appreciate.
Caller
I guarantee they are now.
Matt Jones
Shannon was on the Malachi train before everybody else.
Caller/Guest
That's right.
Matt Jones
Baldor was scouting. Appreciate the call. Shannon was scouting those Scott county games.
Caller/Guest
So I was doing. I was watching.
Matt Jones
Oh, my goodness. The thing is in the off season, Shannon's grinding tape. That's what he's doing. We'll take a break. Be right back. KSR TJ Smith, personal injury attorney. Call tj. He'll make him pay.
Caller/Guest
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Matt Jones
There's already people protesting outside the studio. Turn off the lights and ride will glow. I hope you were watching the Instagram back. We got to see Ryan rides hair.
Shannon
I knew hairdo was.
Matt Jones
It's epic today. All right, we got to all have a quick conversation with our about our family members, our friends, specifically our older family members, 60 or over. We've got to collectly as a fan base. Everyone listening. Can we agree on this? We all must get our family members and tell them stop believing Facebook.
Shannon
Amen.
Matt Jones
Okay, you people have got to stop seeing a graphic and thinking it's true just because it's on a graphic. All right, I. I got sent yesterday 25 times this article from Facebook that is completely made up and yet everyone sent this like Matt, can you believe this? No, I cannot because it's fake. But old people and Some young people just think cause it's on Facebook and they put up a graphic. It has to be true.
Shannon
Absolutely. Yeah.
Matt Jones
What is wrong with you folk? This is why society is crumbling. I've told this story before during the 2016 presidential election. The most shared story in America during the election was that Donald Trump had taken a plane of his and flown soldiers home from Iraq. And it was made up by Scandinavian kid who was 16 years old and he made $1.5 million just on clicks because people on Facebook thought it was true. Okay. This is even more ridiculous. Hoops chaos says NCAA men's basketball legend Michael Jordan stunned the world after launching an explosive accusation against Arkansas and Kentucky game officials, saying the calls for Arkansas, Arkansas were shameful and questioned the integrity of the ncaa. Jordan didn't stop there. He said ark, the officials were clearly for Arkansas and against Kentucky. And he questioned whether or not the police forces should be involved.
Shannon
People buy it hook.
Matt Jones
How does someone see that, think it's true and think it's true? Yep. How do you see that? Not go look at. Oh, I don't know. Shannon. Any news source?
Shannon
Yeah.
Caller/Guest
Oh, Facebook. It is a news source to a lot of people.
Matt Jones
It's not a news source. Facebook is not a news Facebook. Where you find out that Romel in your hometown is dating Samuel.
Caller/Guest
It's on Facebook. It's gotta be true.
Matt Jones
That's where you find that out. Or where you find the tea out about the local hairdresser. It's not where you find news. That post I just read has 650 shares. My goodness, it has 6,000 likes. Which means people believe it. This is why sometimes life makes me sad. Their vote counts as much as yours.
Shannon
Yeah.
Drew
I've got a collection of these. If I get screenshots. Someone sent me one last week. It said, understand the importance of coal in Kentucky. Otega owe donates entire $2 million nil.
Matt Jones
I saw that one to the state.
Drew
Which would be great if he did that. But that did not happen. But people were just sharing it. Like, look how nice it is of owe to donate $2 million to the coal industry, to the coal.
Matt Jones
Otega owe is gonna donate his in aisle to coal, but it was getting shared over to coal, right? Oh, there's one Colin Chandler that like Colin Chandler's got gets the most. Because whatever religious cause exists, Colin Chandler, who by the way, is a Mormon, there will be all these things about how he's going to be head of the Christian athletes of Kentucky. And there were people who are like, he must have converted or maybe it's fake. Maybe it's fake, but nobody thinks this is why society is going to collapse is that people just see that and they believe it.
Shannon
Believe it.
Matt Jones
Michael Jordan, you think cares about the refs in the Arkansas Kentucky game? You think that's what Michael Jordan is outraged about?
Shannon
Probably should raise a red flag right there. That.
Matt Jones
But it doesn't. People just believe it.
Drew
I saw another one. I won't even say the player's name, but it was like so and so for sec. School dies on the court. It was like an AI graphic of all his teammates crying. And people were like, is this serious? It's like that didn't even look like it's five players on the game crying over someone. Do you think that would have been on the news?
Matt Jones
If that's the thing, I always want to go. You think that might have been on the news? Yeah, maybe so. Anyway, please help your. Help your parents, help your grandpa.
Shannon
They read it on Facebook.
Drew
Yourself.
Matt Jones
Yes.
Drew
You're the one falling for it.
Matt Jones
All right, who's next?
Caller/Guest
Let's go to John.
Matt Jones
John, Go ahead, John.
Caller
First time, long time, Gentlemen.
Matt Jones
Who are. What's up?
Caller
Well, I have a lot of stuff going on, but I want to tell you guys I appreciate you because you keep my son, who's a cadet up at West Point, connected to everything locally. So that's a. That's kind of a big deal, I'm sure.
Matt Jones
Well, thank your son for his service and we're glad to do it.
Caller
So I found out recently that I have an affliction that I never knew existed. And one see what you guys think about this, or if anybody else has it. When I close my eyes, I can't imagine pictures. Pictures in my mind visually. So a very small percentage of the population has this.
Shannon
What do you mean?
Caller
I've never heard of it before.
Matt Jones
You can't imagine pictures.
Caller
That's right. Close your eyes and imagine, you know, like the American flag or something.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Caller
Most people can. Most people can draw a picture and see a picture in their mind?
Matt Jones
Yes.
Caller
I cannot.
Matt Jones
Okay, well, I'm sorry. Have you. Have you gone to. Have you gone to the doctor?
Caller
No. I never knew it was a big deal. Like when people say, close your eyes and imagine, I just thought that was kind of a metaphor for just imagine something.
Matt Jones
So you've never been able to do this?
Caller
That's right.
Matt Jones
Okay, well, I don't really know how to respond to that except to say I'm sorry about that. But, like, might be something to go. Well, I mean, is it Affecting your life. Besides that.
Caller
No, it's a mask. Anything Wednesday, and I'm asking, does anybody else.
Matt Jones
Okay, well, I'll ask. I will. If anybody on the text machine. 772-774-5254. I'll let you know if somebody else says they have that. Okay.
Caller
Hey, you guys have safe travels.
Matt Jones
Thank you very much. There you go. Never heard of that before, but that's the. That's. This is a good way to crowdsource.
Shannon
Correct.
Matt Jones
And see if somebody else is there. We'll skip this call Shannon, and we'll.
Caller/Guest
Go skip Bob and Jamestown for.
Matt Jones
Because Ronnie needs to be on. Let's go to Ronnie. Go ahead, Ronnie.
Caller
Hey, guys, what's up? Good morning to you all. Good morning, Glisten. You always talking about yesterday's songs about San Francisco.
Matt Jones
Yes.
Caller
I know two of them you'll probably never heard of. San Francisco back in the late 60s was ground zero for the hippie movement. Okay.
Matt Jones
Yes.
Caller
And two songs that come to my mind are San Francisco nights. And the second was when you go to San Francisco, wear a flower in your hair.
Matt Jones
I've heard that one. I've heard that one. We'll have Shannon play one of those. Coming back. I've heard that when you go to San Francisco, San Francisco put a flower in your hair. I think. I don't remember where, but I've heard that one. And Billy, by the way, is doing that. We're making Billy have a flower in his hair every day at the Super Bowl.
Caller
And the second thing I want to tell you, on TV yesterday, they were showing a minor shaker going on in San Francisco area. Did you all hear that? No, that wasn't from Facebook. I saw that on tv. Okay.
Matt Jones
I don't know what are you talking about. Earthquake?
Caller
Yes.
Matt Jones
Okay. I've never heard it called a minor shaker. So an earthquake. Well, that's. I know they have those there, but that's okay. You know what? Appreciate the call. We'll go and do our thing. And if it quakes a little, Drew will be all right.
Drew
Do they have big blocks of ice? Because I'm happy to leave those behind. I can handle an earthquake.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Drew
Also, that song is on the Forrest Gump soundtrack. The San Francisco wear a flower in your hair.
Matt Jones
Oh, is it really part of the movie? You're a big. You're big into forest Gump.
Drew
The double disc Forrest Gump soundtrack is one of the best albums of all time.
Matt Jones
I think I saw. That's one of the three or four highest selling soundtracks of all time. It's like that. I think two of the three high selling soundtracks came out the same year. Forrest Gump and Pulp Fiction.
Shannon
Very cool.
Matt Jones
And they're, and they're both very, very good. I at one point had both of them, although I guess I don't anymore because I don't have any CDs, but.
Drew
Little Elvis, little Bob Dylan, little Paul Simon, all kinds of hits, all kinds of stuff.
Matt Jones
All right, I'm gonna give him 40 seconds. Shannon. All right, get the clock. I'm looking at it right here.
Caller/Guest
I got it.
Matt Jones
Bob and Jamestown go.
Caller
Bladder guy when he didn't take my call, stole my thunder. No. Are you all worried about going out there? Yesterday's was a 4.2 quake in 1906. It was a 7.2. It destroyed pretty much most of three quarters of San Francisco and then, you know, the 89 World Series and a earthquake out there. So are you at all at least worried about aftershocks?
Matt Jones
No.
Caller
Or the San Andres?
Matt Jones
No. I mean, you can't spend your life. Bob. Worried about natural events. We all could. Anything could happen at any point. You can't spend your life worried about that.
Caller
But that's an epicenter. I mean, are you taking any kind of.
Matt Jones
Thank you. He's gonna ask about taking any kind of precaution. What am I supposed to do anti earthquake? Yeah, I mean, am I supposed to wear anti earthquake shoes?
Shannon
We all just survived the frost quakes.
Matt Jones
We just, I mean, what, seriously, what am I supposed to do? Like, okay, I'm gonna put on my earthquake suit, brace for impact. I don't really know that there's much I could do.
Drew
Here's more nervous about the Eric Kendricks interview than the earthquake.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Here it's reality Kentucky right now. If people can't afford childcare or place to live, they can't take jobs, can't stay in jobs and businesses can grow. We're short on tens of thousands of childcare spots in Kentucky. And when parents can't find childcare, forced to cut hours and leave the workforce. That's why at the Kentucky Chamber, we want to help fix it. The legislature's in session now, so help us fix the basics, child care and housing. Visit opportunity starts here.com to add your name. Today it's opportunity starts here.com from the Kentucky Chamber. Today. We'll take a break. Be right back. Scale.

Yes, the song was very prominent in in Forrest Gump and I've heard the song quite a bit. There are people writing in saying they have the same Issue that. That guy said.
Shannon
Had you ever heard it before?
Matt Jones
I've not, but there's, you know, a lot of. Yeah, a lot of things I have at one probably sergeant. So, you know, probably six or seven people write and say that. Yes. It's called aphantasia is the name of the condition according to.
Shannon
To close your eyes and you can't visualize something.
Matt Jones
Yes. One person writes, my son has that trait, aphantasia. It is not considered a disability, just a trait. Yeah, I could see that. Because, I mean, I. It. It's probably strange, but it doesn't probably affect your life.
Shannon
Right.
Matt Jones
Yeah. At all.
Shannon
No.
Matt Jones
So, you know. So I wish you the best on that. And it's good sometimes to know that, like, other. Other people have the same thing.
Shannon
Yeah.
Caller
Right.
Shannon
One of they. Can you still dream.
Matt Jones
One person writes, matt, earthquakes aren't real. It's a hoax by the Democrats. I saw it on Facebook.
Drew
Control the weather.
Matt Jones
They do Control the weather. Is sitting on the dock of the bay. Is that about Francis?
Caller/Guest
I think it is, yeah.
Drew
So is. We built this city.
Matt Jones
They built. They built San Francisco on rock and roll.
Caller/Guest
Yeah, they did.
Matt Jones
Really? I thought it was like bricks and.
Caller/Guest
Wait till you get there.
Matt Jones
Rock and roll. Oh, man. I didn't know. I didn't realize that.
Shannon
Do you eat just rice and Roni when you're in San Francisco, too?
Matt Jones
No one eats rice.
Shannon
It's the San Francisco treat.
Matt Jones
No, San Francisco. What the. You want to eat, like, China. You want to eat Asian food? I mean, San Francisco is the place for. I'm gonna eat a lot of Asian food that you Chinese.
Drew
We're going to Chinatown.
Matt Jones
I mean, I think if you go to San Francisco, Chinese food is the thing, because that's probably. There was a time. I don't know if this is true anymore, but there was a time that that was the. The center of, like, Chinese culture in America. I'm sure it's. I don't know if that's still true.
Drew
But we're right around the corner from it.
Matt Jones
Used to it. Did you know they had a plague in San Francisco? Like. Like a plague that nearly killed the whole city. There's a. This is a long time ago.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Like in the maybe late 1800s, early 1900s, the San Francisco plague. They, like, built. They tried the United States put guards around so people couldn't get out of the city.
Shannon
Really?
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Shannon
I've not heard of that.
Matt Jones
I mean, people act like Covid is the first time something like that's happened. I mean, they had the Spanish Flu.
Shannon
Right.
Matt Jones
There have been things throughout history, but San Francisco had one that was basically contained in San Francisco. And they put guards around the city. They would not let people leave because they were like, all right, if we have to sacrifice the whole city, but you're not ruining the whole country. They, like, lost a ton of the population.
Shannon
Like, how long ago was this?
Matt Jones
I want to say it was like the 1880s or something. I don't know. I don't know the year. Yeah, but it's. It was. It's called. I think it's called the San Francisco plague or something. Something.
Shannon
They didn't follow Pineville's lead and put up some floodgates at the end of this interstate.
Matt Jones
But people would try to sneak out of the city.
Caller
Yeah.
Shannon
Get out of there. If they get a disease going on.
Matt Jones
I think people. I think if I. It's been a long time. I heard a podcast about long time. I think people, like, they would shoot people who try to escape the city. Wow. Seems like that's what's going to happen to us.
Caller/Guest
Did you see this on Facebook?
Matt Jones
No. This is like history. Okay. This is history. Everybody thinks that everything that happens in history, like, this is the first time it ever happened. Yeah, but things have happened. That's one of the things I get mad about. Like, even when things are awful in the last few weeks, it's felt like things are bad.
Caller/Guest
There it is. 1900 to 1904.
Matt Jones
1900 to 1904. Stuff has happened throughout history like this.
Shannon
Oh, yeah.
Matt Jones
You just, you know, you just don't. You don't know because you probably didn't read it.
Shannon
We all thought this first time we've ever had to wear masks. Then all those pictures surface of people wearing smallpox masks.
Matt Jones
Yeah. And people go, oh, this stuff happens. It doesn't make it good or bad, but it's not the first time. Let's go to Dave. Go ahead, Dave.
Caller
What's up, boys? What day you interviewing? Busting with the boys.
Matt Jones
Tomorrow.
Caller
Tomorrow. Okay, I got. So I guess this is ask anything. So I got to ask a favor. So you know Will Compton, He's a. A big die hard Nebraska fan.
Matt Jones
Correct.
Caller
He also does like this little podcast on the side with his guys called Fourth Dad. So I need you to do me a favor and ask him when he's having on Will Stein to talk about Nebraska being Will Stein being Nebraska's daddy for stealing their quarterback.
Matt Jones
We're talking about. We're. We're talking about. Will, stop. I mean, that's probably the only thing we're talking about is with him.
Caller
I need you to get him fired up.
Matt Jones
I'm going to plan on being openly antagonistic with the boys. I appreciate it. I'm going to guess Drew, he, he at least saw my coping with the boys because that guy that went really viral when, when we took their quarterback, I'm going to guess he saw that and I'm going to be like, hey, that was me.
Drew
And he lives on social media, so he does.
Matt Jones
I know he saw it. There's no way he couldn't.
Drew
I'm looking forward to that. You know, I like busing with the boys, but I won't get in the way of any confrontation over Will Stein. Kentucky first.
Matt Jones
Will Stein said yesterday there's no reason we can't win at Kentucky and there's no reason we can't win quickly.
Shannon
Yeah. He said something like this should be a destination job. This should be for players and coaches a destination location.
Matt Jones
His argument was when Will Levis and Liam Cohen were at Kentucky, they had the seventh ranked offense. He was like, they've had a top defense in like three of the last six years. Combine them. Why can't you be really good?
Shannon
Why can't you? I think it all comes down to our quarterback coming out. You just talked about him stealing from Nebraska. If he has a good year, they can maybe do something special. But it all comes down to him.
Matt Jones
He also said something like, like we're going to recruit at a level, Drew, that some people are not going to like me. I like that. Like he's not worried to make the other teams mad. He was like, we're going to go get players in a way that they're not going to like me. Yes.
Drew
You know, sometimes when you're the inferior school, you just surrender. Okay, I can't go in and talk to this kid. He's trying to knock down doors and not afraid of anyone. And that's coming across. And some of the national analysts are talking about his recruiting.
Matt Jones
Yeah. So he was on. It's a, it's a. If you get a chance today, if you want to listen to something later in the day. He was on Andy and Ari, which is a podcast on, on three sports. And he, he was, he was full of swagger. It was like a very much a swash buckling UK football. We're not bowing to anybody. We're by the way going to have him on either next week or either next week or the week after. We were going to. They made him available this week but we're of course going to Super Bowl. So we are not going to be. So it'll be either next week or the week after. We're going to have him on for kind of a long form interview.
Shannon
That's awesome because, I mean, spring football is coming up. It'll be here in a couple weeks. Get ready for his first spring football season.
Matt Jones
He also said, by the way, he thinks they have the talent to be very competitive in the first year.
Drew
Yeah, I love, I don't know if it's confidence or maybe even getting a little arrogance territory, but it's not like he has that mentality that a lot of people have in Kentucky where we're still down here and slowly have to climb. He's talking about, you know, success right away. And with that schedule ahead, he could easily be intimidated, but it doesn't sound like he is.
Matt Jones
Yeah, he's not somebody who's minimizing expectations. I mean, it's not Mark Pope saying we've got a Ferrari and we're going to drive it. But he is saying like he, he literally said, I don't understand why this can't be a destination.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
So, you know, he's not minimizing anything. So I'll, I'll take it.
Shannon
I think they feel so good about the guys they've got up front that they can do some stuff offensively.
Matt Jones
Well, I hope they're right. Would make next year very, very excited. We're gonna take a break. 859-28022. Anything Tuesday got some folks on. We'll get them when we come back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
