One of the biggest misconceptions about buying a home right now is that you have to wait for the perfect moment. Perfect rates, perfect timing, perfect market. The truth is that moment doesn't really exist. A lot of buyers pause because of headlines or assumptions. But every situation is different. Race change, market shift and personal goals matter just as much as what's happening nationally. That's why talking to a local lender can be so valuable. Welcome to hour two of Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.
Matt Jones
Welcome back. Our number two Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-280-2287. Mario was live on Instagram and he caught me. I almost missed the start of this segment, so I said a cuss word, which I don't do a lot.
Shannon
You were given your lowdown of your shoes and your fit for the trip.
Matt Jones
Yeah, because I got new, new stickers I was going to talk about. All right, Text. It's Ask Anything Tuesday. One person writes. Matt, for the average listener, who would you say that the average listener knows the most about in real life on the show and who knows the least? AKA I think Shannon's the most mysterious person on the show. Is that correct or not? So that's a good question. So, like everybody, if you listen to this show regularly, there's six of us that are some part of it. I would say the person that the average listener knows the most about if they listen to the show is actually Ryan. When you agree.
Drew
No, not at all. It'd be you.
Matt Jones
No, I think it's Ryan because there are parts of me that people don't know everything about. Ryan is no. Like, there's no.
Drew
Like, I don't know if you could tell a million McDonald's stories from you and.
Matt Jones
No, but what I'm saying is you. There's a part of my personality that you have to know me pretty well. To see Mario shaking his head. You know it because you know me well. Yeah, but the average person sees, like, this exaggerated version of me that's on the air, but, like, I'm much quieter in person and sit by myself, etc. Ryan is Ryan. Like, there's, like. I don't think there's any mystery to Ryan. Do you agree? Disagree?
Drew
I think there's a lot of mystery to Ryan. I don't know, like, when he leaves here.
Matt Jones
No, but he's just. He's this. He's just this sitting in the dark, waiting for someone to talk to. Shannon, you've spent vacations with Ryan. Is he any different than he is on the air?
Ryan
No, that's not. No, Ryan is Ryan.
Matt Jones
Ryan is the most. Ryan.
Drew
I have a good idea of what you would be. I have no idea what Ryan's off doing.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I do. He's just. Ryan, he's just walking around, living in this body and head.
Ryan
He's just bebopping through life.
Matt Jones
Yeah, he's bebopping.
Shannon
Fighting off the ladies.
Matt Jones
Do you. Do you agree or not?
Shannon
I think we're all pretty open, to be honest. I think it's one thing that makes us attractive on this radio show is that we're kind of open with our lives, all of us.
Matt Jones
I think everybody's open. I think Shannon is the most closed. So he is the least, I think, known. I mean, I don't know a lot about, like. Like when. Like, when Shannon leaves here. Drew, we. None of us really know what he. Oh, he's.
Drew
He's run away. Winner of the mysterious award.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I think that's good. No, I mean, I think it's fine.
Ryan
I think overexposure is worse.
Matt Jones
I mean, people don't hate you as much. Even though I think objectively you have the qualities that would make people the maddest in life. Like what? Well, you dislike people more than anyone.
Ryan
That is not true. That, again, shows that you don't even know me. You've been. You've been doing this show with me for 15 years, and you don't know me.
Matt Jones
You. You, you.
Ryan
And that's on you.
Matt Jones
You think you like the most people? Yes. Okay.
Ryan
I'm the first person there and the last one to leave.
Matt Jones
That's true. You know that's true. You live in Louisville. Like, you don't have to. Like, Ryan and Drew and I have to. In Mario, we see people at the bar all the time. You don't get all that, because that is true.
Ryan
That is True. With me being here and you guys being in Lexington. So there's. There's a lot of truth to that. We don't as much.
Shannon
I think that's why when people meet us, they feel like they know us, because we are so open with our personal lives on this. On this show.
Matt Jones
Yeah. No, but I would say in general, if you listen, you do know. No one's a different person.
Shannon
No.
Matt Jones
Off the air.
Shannon
Yeah. I do say you're a little different when you take your Matt Jones hat off and are just. Matt with us, you know, chilling out, having a McDonald's burger.
Matt Jones
What do we have?
Ryan
A McDonald's burger.
Matt Jones
I'm not eating a McDonald's burger in. I probably have not had a burger from McDonald's in 20 years.
Shannon
Egg white Delight.
Matt Jones
Okay. They don't make that anymore. I do. I drink Diet Coke.
Shannon
Yes. But I think when you take your Matt Jones hat off and it just. Matt, it's a. It's a different guy.
Matt Jones
I think you all are all essentially completely yourself. Yeah, I'm myself, but I have to amp it up, like, 20% to be on the air.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
But you guys, that makes the show work.
Shannon
That's why it works.
Matt Jones
So I think people are surprised, like, when they come up to me that, like, I don't have a lot to say. I tend to be quiet when I.
Shannon
Meet people and very gracious. Nice.
Matt Jones
I try.
Shannon
Yes.
Matt Jones
I'm not always. Sometimes, like, you can't. Sometimes you're in a bad. I hate when sometimes you're in a bad mood and then you talk to somebody, and I feel bad afterwards. I'm like, well, I didn't mean.
Shannon
Yeah. Don't you wish you could reach back out to him? Said, man, I'm sorry. I didn't handle that well.
Matt Jones
I was. I was on a flight a few weeks ago, and I got very fro. I'd like. I don't know. And so during the course of the flight, I felt bad, and on the way out, I was like, hey, man, my bad. Good for you. I'm glad you said that. I listened to you every day. I didn't want to be. Oh, but you have to remember that.
Shannon
Right, Right.
Drew
You know, sometimes I forget how open we are. Like, say I have a random. You know, a service at my house or restaurant. Someone says something very specific, like, oh, you wore your house shoes to the show last week. I'm like, how did you.
Matt Jones
Oh, yeah.
Drew
We just say everything on the air and forget that we're just open books here every morning.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Now, since we mentioned McDonald's. McDonald's is doing a promotion. I wanted to see if you would want this. McDonald's is it at stores in New York, Louisiana, Dallas and Chicago having a special this week where they are going to have McDonald's caviar. Based on a trend on TikTok, they are going to put caviar their Chicken McNuggets. And if you go to McDonald's, they'll give you the caviar. They're having a whole caviar set and 25 McNuggets. It's like you get 25 McNuggets and caviar for like $30 or something. And it's their. Their specialist to try to encourage people to use caviar with their Chicken McNuggets. Would you like. I think you like caviar.
Drew
Love caviar. I mean, I don't get to eat it often because it's.
Matt Jones
Would you like caviar with chicken? Big nuggets.
Drew
The weird part for me is the chicken nuggets here. I try not to eat those. I mean, I might do it to say I did it. I don't think they go together. Caviar does not deserve to be anywhere near McDonald's.
Matt Jones
Shannon.
Ryan
No, not for McDonald's. If I'm going to eat caviar, it's not going to be a McDonald's.
Matt Jones
I don't understand the appeal of caviar. I don't think it tastes good. Well, delicious.
Drew
We ate five pounds of it on that road trip in Canada.
Ryan
Me and Tomlin, we once had caviar. Caviar company sponsored the pre show for like a year. The first year.
Matt Jones
I do remember that caviar.
Drew
America's best caviar.
Matt Jones
Because that's made in Kentucky. America's best caviar.
Billy
Yeah.
Ryan
If you want to come back. America's best caviar. I'll eat your caviar.
Matt Jones
Have you? Do you? Do you?
Shannon
I've had it one time and it's when we were at Kelly Kraft at the Canadian embassy. It's only time I've ever had it.
Matt Jones
But I would like. They had the Canadian embassy. The American embassy in Canada had caviar out the wazoo.
Shannon
Yes.
Matt Jones
And it was really strange to be sitting there with you all eating caviar at the American embassy in Canada.
Drew
I remember taking a little sample and Tomlin and I are like, how much of this can we eat? And she's like, go crazy. And we emptied the fridge. Canada ran out of caviar because ate.
Shannon
All the caviar and the next morning.
Matt Jones
American tax dollars going into your and Tomlin's belly ate all of our caviar.
Shannon
On the next morning, Daniel ate all their syrup and caviar.
Matt Jones
So.
Drew
So I'm Back to the McDonald's part of this.
Shannon
I would try it. I would definitely try it.
Matt Jones
Are they providing the caviar?
Drew
Byoc.
Matt Jones
So I guess apparently there's a TikTok trend where people are, like, putting caviar with things you wouldn't think. Caviar has McDonald's trying to get in on it. And so they've gotten some caviar company.
Drew
Okay.
Matt Jones
And they've agreed for 30 bucks. Like, normally it'd be like 150 bucks. You get 25 McNuggets and caviar. As long as you try it and then make your videos of you eating.
Shannon
Yeah, I would try it. I would definitely try it.
Matt Jones
Well, Maybe there's a McDonald's. Maybe one that, you know, Wadi Petonia.
Shannon
Maybe they'll have it.
Matt Jones
Maybe one that we've had some conversation, you know, maybe that's. As a way to. We'll try it. If they get it in Lexington next.
Drew
Time we're in there eating burgers with.
Matt Jones
You, like we do. To Bring it up, McDonald's. Joe, go ahead, Joe.
Caller
Yes, Matt on Mark. Pulse recruiting and all that. I was looking at the roster. Ten of these players can come back. I mean, yes, I know, Quentin, but I think that.
Matt Jones
Here's the thing, Joe. I think they thought that they were going to bring a lot of this team back. Now maybe if they finish the season strong, they will. I think that I would be surprised to see some of these guys back, but I think part of the reason they recruited who they did last year was to bring a lot of these guys back. Because you're right, there are. You said 10. I thought it was nine, but it might be 10. But there are a lot of guys who can come back.
Caller
Yeah, it's ten count, Quinn. But Quentin's ain't coming back. The only seniors you got is. Right. The only seniors you got is always Aberdeen.
Matt Jones
Correct. Yeah. So I appreciate the call. I mean, there are a lot of people who could come back. I think a lot of it's going to depend on how the season ends. You know, they're going to have to go get. Here's what they have to do. They're going to have to go get at least three guys out in the portal who can shoot. No doubt, because they're going to lose Aberdeen and away, and they might lose Low too, But they're definitely going to lose Aberdeen, so you got to go get some guards. We don't have enough guards as it is.
Shannon
Two of the guys you think most likely to come back though are Chandler and Cam Williams. Two shooters.
Matt Jones
Moreno, Chandler, Williams, to me, are the three most likely guys to come back. Yeah, I'm not saying other people won't. And then Hawthorne, but I don't count him because he hasn't played. I would assume he's. I mean, he didn't come here to red shirt and not play next year. So I would assume that. That's if you were saying, okay, who's on the team next year? I would start with Moreno, champ. Chandler and Williams. Throw in Hawthorne. I think that's a good bet. Is the four. Then Jalen Lowe. It's just a yes or no decision. I'm going to lean. That'll be a yes. And then everybody else I'm kind of not thinking is going to be here. Wild card Trent, Noah, because I don't know what's in his mind. Yeah, I'm going to kind of assume Diabate is not here yet next year. I'm going to kind of assume Garrison's not here next year. I don't know about yellow bitch. I really don't. I have no, I have no idea.
Drew
I don't know if he's enjoying it or not.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I really have no idea. I don't. You know, I don't have any connections, so I have no idea about him.
Shannon
Do you like him in the starting lineup? The way they got up to the good start against Arkansas with him out there and he had like what, seven points or anything in the game?
Matt Jones
I think it's gone pretty well, right?
Drew
Yeah, he doesn't take many, but his three point shooting percentage, especially in the SEC has been really good. It's close to 50%. He's just not shooting many.
Matt Jones
Yeah. So I, I don't. But they got to go. They're going to. I mean, you're going to lose away in Aberdeen, your two primary scores. So you're going to have to go get some good dudes and especially if you're not going to have any recruits. Let's go to Adam. Go ahead, Adam.
Caller
What's up, guys?
Matt Jones
What's up?
Caller
Since it ask anything, right?
Matt Jones
Well, yes. Doesn't mean we'll answer it, but yes.
Caller
So what. What happened in the pool with Willie Collinstein and Bahamas 2015 in the pool?
Drew
Oh, I can tell that one. That one's easy. He bet some people, maybe cash Was involved. Maybe it wasn't. I don't know the statute.
Matt Jones
I think now you could say cash was.
Drew
He bet he could swim the length of a very long pool and back without coming up from air. There was a lot of money on the line.
Matt Jones
A lot of money.
Drew
And he did it in the end. But he went so slow. It was like, built suspense. We're like, there's no way he can keep holding.
Matt Jones
He swam from one end of this pool to the other underwater. How long do you think he was underwater?
Drew
It felt like forever. The moment he started, like, there's no chance at the pace he's going that he will even get to one end and back.
Matt Jones
It was. Stayed under for so long, it was shocking. And he. Because he's so tall, he looked like this massive fish underwater. And I would say 45 seconds to a minute.
Drew
Yeah, it was a long time.
Matt Jones
It was. It was. That was one of the more amazing physical sites I've ever seen.
Drew
Whatever pace you think he was on, it was slower. We had no faith in him. And as I said, there was a little bit of gambling going on. So when he popped up, the people that had bet on him, it was. It was a big scene around the pool.
Matt Jones
The 2015 team trip to the Bahamas is probably the closest Drew and I've ever been with a group of players at a team. I mean, essentially, the fans were all in one part of the hotel, and then this other part was just the players, really big donors. And then, like, me, Drew the turkey hunter. And so what was happening is that, like, you were getting to know the players, and they were having fun. The coaches were leaving them alone.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And pretty much everyone except Carl was, like, doing their thing and, like, doing their thing. Carl would come in and out.
Drew
Carl. Remember my air shots with Carl? Carl would find me, and we'd do air.
Matt Jones
They would party. Carl didn't party. But then he would come and take shots of air so that he could be part of the team.
Drew
He'd find me. You ready for another air shot?
Matt Jones
Oh, I don't recall.
Drew
I just had one. I'll try to do a second one.
Ryan
Drink all day off that.
Matt Jones
But you got to know him, and Willie was the leader of the whole. I mean, Willie was injured. Willie was playing. Willie was wild that entire week. Week. I think he would acknowledge that if he was.
Shannon
And those guys that talked about that made him closer, that made him better as a unit.
Matt Jones
I think that was huge for that group because you had all these young guys and then all these old guys and I think that trip brought them all together.
Shannon
Yeah I heard many guys talk about that.
Matt Jones
How would you rank the 2015 team in wildness?
Drew
Will he won that one was I was gonna start at the bottom. The Harrisons were the most businesslike on that one. I had about every player they they were pretty locked in. Ulis and Booker enjoyed their first intro to Big Blue Nation. I'm going to go never been around anything Willie 1.
Matt Jones
Todd Lanter 2. Derek Willis Derek Willis 3 I'm making Derek Willis talk about one that's that was my story. Derek Willis was the hello and then probably Euless Booker. That would have been your starting five.
Drew
Of partying And Derek played well too. I have to add that I think.
Matt Jones

Somebody just wrote me and said they have a video of Willie swimming.
Drew
It probably exists.
Matt Jones
I'd like to see that. I think I I the caller was talking about the other story. It's just hard for me to talk about the other story because like these people are still around. Yeah, you know, but the other story is the best UK story. I will tell it one day. I think we've said it on like a late night something once.
Shannon
I think so.
Matt Jones
But never on this show. No, probably won't. I'll do it on one that's not on podcast. 859-280-2287 Text machine is 772-774-5254. One person writes. Matt, what do you think about the story about Savannah Guthrie's mom in Arizona? Shannon, that one's awful, right? I mean woman, 84 year old woman kidnapped outside or in her home.
Ryan
They're treating the house now as a crime scene. There was sign to entry and there's blood that they found. They don't know whose blood it is. Probably that's our mom's.
Matt Jones
I mean that's awful. I pray for the best result in that. That's probably terrifies older people across the. Across the country.
Shannon
They're scared to begin with. Then you hear that an 84 year old woman was yanked out of her home. That's just going to magnify it. Scary.
Matt Jones
Have they said anything about why that seems like such a random thing to happen?
Shannon
I didn't. Only thing I heard this morning that they're definitely treating it. Treating it as a kidnapping.
Ryan
I mean you could guess why with her being a celebrity. I mean there's probably something she said and probably some crazy person that knows where her mom lives and.
Matt Jones
Oh, you think it's because of something Savannah Guthrie said? Yeah, but she's not like an outspoke. I don't even know like what does she even just believe or think? Like I don't know. You think it was something to do with her daughter?
Ryan
I think there's a very good chance.
Matt Jones
Well, that would be, that would be awful for the daughter to think like something they did.
Shannon
Yeah.
Ryan
Otherwise it's just completely random.
Matt Jones
I know, but that's in some way scarier. Yeah. Like if it was completely random. See, that's one of the things I think about when you have crimes. Like crimes where somebody does something for a reason are awful. But when it's random, I think it's even scary.
Shannon
Very scary.
Matt Jones
Because then it's like, well, that could happen to anyone. You know what I mean?
Shannon
Yeah, yeah.
Drew
I mean other ones are awful but the motive, whether right or wrong, someone has a scenario in their head with that.
Matt Jones
Well, that wouldn't be me.
Drew
Yeah. You know, but I mean, you know, when it's just completely random, it can be anyone on the street, regardless of who they are, what they've Done. Any relationship at all.
Matt Jones
The denim uniforms are getting broken out Saturday.
Shannon
Yep.
Matt Jones
Saturday we saw the initial release of. Of the, like, you know, attire that you could buy. The sweatshirts and the sh. I have to tell you, it didn't look denim to me. It looked just white, didn't it?
Shannon
Yeah.
Drew
I hate. I mean, it has the little. Has the old logo they use with the denim, but I hate that they. At least what we've seen so far, it's not denim white now. I mean, they have like that color as the font, but it's not leaning into it enough.
Matt Jones
Yeah. So what do we think it's going to look like? So this is Saturday. You think it's going to be cool?
Drew
Yeah, I think they'll be.
Matt Jones
Shoes are cool. Have you seen the shoes? The Converse?
Drew
Well, those are just the old shoes. That thing that went viral. That's just a picture of the old shoes.
Matt Jones
No, but I. The sneaker news website. I have.
Drew
No, that was just the old one.
Matt Jones
So this isn't. They're not rereleasing them.
Drew
There are shoes.
Matt Jones
Yeah, they're rereleasing the old shoes, not those. So what are they rereleasing?
Drew
Some new shoes.
Matt Jones
So, you know, the new shoes, perhaps. Oh, okay. So tell me about it.
Drew
I can't.
Ryan
They don't look like the old.
Matt Jones
Why can't you tell me?
Drew
I've heard whispers of some new shoes. Think more NBA in All Star week coming up, so.
Matt Jones
But are the Kentucky team players going to win?
Drew
The thing that went viral is just the old shoe. I said that when it came out. I was like, these aren't even new shoes. These are the exact same Converses. I think that's.
Matt Jones
So they're not rereleasing the old one ones.
Drew
They could surprise us. But there will be other shoes.
Matt Jones
Look at Drew knowing.
Drew
All right, well, to the original point, I did not love the hoodie that came that they've already leaked.
Matt Jones
Mark waiting to suggest he was going to wear something different for the game. Somebody called him on the show last night and asked if he was going to wear something denim, and he said, I got something ready.
Ryan
He should wear jeans, like a jean jacket.
Matt Jones
I can't imagine what this is like a denim suit look like, you know?
Shannon
So for the home uniforms in white, they'll have just a splash of denim. I want to see the road. I want to see a road denim. That's where we got to see the full denim effect. I want them to wear the denim ones on the road.
Matt Jones
It was going to be the white Home ones. Those were not that cool.
Shannon
I agree. I wanted to see.
Matt Jones
Blue denim was the cool.
Shannon
That was the cool one I want to see.
Matt Jones
And they're not wearing that.
Shannon
I wish they would.
Drew
Unlikely, because that'd be the away uniform.
Matt Jones
Yeah, well, but that's what everybody thinks about.
Drew
When they originally wore the whites in the anniversary, they had like five straight home games of the whites. They didn't break out the blue denim for a little later. I would love for them to do the blue denim, but being a home game, I'm expecting white.
Matt Jones
Okay, well, now I'm not as excited about it because I thought. I thought it was the going to be very denim.
Drew
Maybe they will still wear those in an upcoming road game or break them out later.
Matt Jones
Yeah, maybe.
Drew
But in the home game, probably white. But maybe we'll be surprised.
Matt Jones
Mark, Go ahead. Mark.
Caller
Hi. I got a question for Drew and then one for you. Go for it, Drew. I've been trying to think, trying to think of the name for this team and I. It has to be related to Forrest Gump and his box of chocolate because you never know what you're gonna get.
Matt Jones
The Gumps.
Drew
There we go.
Shannon
Perfect.
Matt Jones
I know.
Caller
I. The chocolate cats. I don't know. I can't come up with anything.
Matt Jones
But we can't call them that. Yeah, we can't call them.
Caller
Okay, this is. This is brainstorming. There's no bad idea that I figured.
Matt Jones
There are bad ideas, just so you know. It's not that there are bad ideas. What's your second one?
Caller
Okay, second one is regarding the. The uniform change. Our guys are going to go up and down the court looking like a Super Mario Brothers. You played the game before, right?
Matt Jones
Not well, but. Are you talking about in the denims?
Caller
Yeah. Yeah. What, what. What kind of pants. What kind of pants do they wear?
Matt Jones
I appreciate the call. I assume they're just gonna wear what they wore in 96. I mean, I would think that's what they're doing. Right. It's the 30 year anniversary. I assume that's what they're doing.
Drew
I'd be very disappointed if they did some kind of twist.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I mean, so go look at the type of white ones that they used to wear in 96. I assume that's what they're gonna wear. I mean, people were not excited about this, but now that we've beaten Arkansas, now Oklahoma's lost eight straight games, so we cannot lose to them.
Shannon
Cannot lose to Oklahoma.
Matt Jones
But assuming we win that game, I think people will be excited for this.
Shannon
For Tennessee because It's Tennessee and it's at home. We're wearing denim.
Matt Jones
Yes. All right, Conway, take us out. We'll be right back. TJ Smith, personal injury attorney.
Shannon
Call tj.
Matt Jones
He'll make him pay.
Ryan
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Matt Jones
All right, one person writes. Matt, I know Mark Pope's Taylor. He is having a custom denim suit made. Oh, can you imagine what that would look like?
Shannon
6 foot 11, Mark Pope walk out in a denim suit.
Matt Jones
Well, that'll get attention. You got. By the way, if you come out in a custom denim suit, Shannon, you gotta win.
Ryan
Exactly. And then what if he sweats through.
Matt Jones
So heavy? Well, maybe be awesome, though.
Shannon
Well, let's hope so.
Matt Jones
I think it'll be awesome. I think if you're going to go, go good. Go do it.
Drew
I agree, but there is pressure on the game. Helps that they got the one in Knoxville out of the way, but, I mean, all the stuff they're doing. And someone during the break told me not to give up on the. Maybe two pairs of shoes that will. Maybe the Converses will exist.
Matt Jones
Okay, good. I thought. Because that was a real. By the way, people writing going, oh, you're an old man falling for Facebook. That was sneaker news. That was, like, the big sneaker site that had it. So that's not like, some random photo they showed?
Drew
Definitely an old photo.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Drew
But, I mean, they could still be in the works.
Matt Jones
Okay. Cause I'd love to get those. Okay. Gotcha. All right, so, Drew, just show me. There we go.
Ryan
But you're right, though. They gotta win that game. You look like a clown if you stand there after getting blown out wearing a denim.
Matt Jones
You're wearing a denim suit down 30. Oh, my goodness. Like, oh, people go, dude, come on. All right, Billy's here. Billy just got here. Billy, come on. The microphone here for just a second. So you're. You. You're nervous about packing for the Super Bowl. Why?
Billy
I'm very nervous. Not just packing right now.
Matt Jones
Why are you nervous?
Billy
I just want it to go well. Like, I'm really excited, and I wanted to.
Matt Jones
What are you not. But, like, what is it you're nervous about? Well, we're gonna have fun.
Billy
Our technical difficulties, my attire at Super Bowl Radio Row on the set. Like, wait a minute.
Matt Jones
Hang on. What are you worried about? About Super Bowl Radio Row. Like, what is your. Like, who cares what you.
Billy
Well, I guess to you.
Matt Jones
So you're trying to look good for the other media people. Well, sure.
Billy
I mean, look good. You know, Dress. Dress for success.
Shannon
Am I right? What if you meet Rich Eisen, you gotta look.
Matt Jones
Yeah. So you want to look good for Rich Eisen.
Billy
Yeah, but I'm not like, in a suit or anything like that.
Shannon
So what are you wearing?
Matt Jones
So give me what you wear.
Billy
A little, like, quarter zip action.
Ryan
Qz quarter zip really got you dressing up.
Matt Jones
You're nervous about the quarter zip.
Billy
Multiple quarter zips. I just want them to match the NFL hat. Like, I just.
Matt Jones
Oh, so people don't know. Shannon, he has a hat that just has the NFL logo. What a Rob Low. Like, it's just the NFL logo. No team. It's just the logo.
Billy
I'm a company man.
Drew
I love that. You have two of them, right?
Shannon
Three.
Matt Jones
You have three of them.
Billy
Now I have a third Stranger Things.
Matt Jones
NFL hat that I bought a Stranger Things NFL.
Shannon
Yes. So you're.
Matt Jones
You're wearing the quarter zips. You've worn quarter zips before. Why would that make you nerve? Is.
Shannon
I don't know.
Matt Jones
You really are. You're shaking.
Drew
I told you on the pre show, I could feel it through the radio.
Billy
I don't know.
Matt Jones
Remember there was a show, Ryan forgot the equipment. That's a big one.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And that was a big. That was the tornado relief show.
Drew
They had a. An audience at a school, and we just didn't show up.
Matt Jones
They had a huge audience showed up, and Ryan just forgot the equipment. You have the equipment?
Billy
Yes.
Matt Jones
Presumably it'll work.
Billy
Yeah, if we can get it through security. Lithium batteries.
Drew
That's all right. You just tell them.
Matt Jones
You just tell them. You just have to tell them, and then you'll be okay.
Billy
Yeah, but, like, you know, I don't know, like Christian McCaffrey. What am I going to say to Christian McCaffrey?
Ryan
Exactly.
Matt Jones
It's Drew and I host the show. You're the producer.
Billy
Oh, yeah.
Matt Jones
I'll let you say something, but if you don't say anything, it's okay.
Drew
Tell them about your quarter zip collection.
Matt Jones
I want you to admit what you're really nervous about.
Billy
About what?
Matt Jones
You want to impress these media members. You. You see this as the Billy super bowl networking show.
Drew
This is your exit from us.
Matt Jones
This is. No, this is where he's trying to leave.
Drew
We're taking you to your exit.
Matt Jones
Yeah, no, he's trying to find another job. I think that's what's happening.
Billy
Well, yeah, if they have a job.
Matt Jones
Open, like, so you'd move. I'm like, if somebody said, billy, we want you in Chicago at, you know, Chicago. ESPN Radio.
Ryan
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Are you Gone.
Billy
I mean, it depends on several factors.
Matt Jones
Like what?
Billy
Throw anything off the table.
Ryan
Sounds like a man with one foot out the door.
Drew
How many resumes you take?
Billy
None. But I have a business card. A digital business card.
Matt Jones
What's a digital business card?
Billy
You scan it, and then all my info goes to your phone.
Ryan
Who wants that?
Matt Jones
Nobody wants. I'm gonna defend Billy.
Shannon
Album that nobody.
Ryan
Wanted on their phone.
Drew
I'm on Billy's team. This is a big opportunity. Not many people, but.
Matt Jones
Do you. You think people are going to scan your digital business card? Who?
Billy
Jeff Darlington. When we talk and yuck it up about our conversation in Buffalo.
Matt Jones
You think he's gonna scan your digital business card?
Shannon
Yeah.
Drew
Way to go, Billy.
Matt Jones
No one's gonna sign up for Billy's digital business card. Shannon.
Billy
Yeah.
Ryan
I thought I had that fixed.
Matt Jones
This is.
Drew
This is a good dress rehearsal.
Ryan
You got to subscribe to get your information.
Drew
See what I mean?
Matt Jones
Get Billy's email.
Shannon
See what I mean?
Billy
He's going to scan the business card, and they're not going to get anything, and I'm going to look like an idiot.
Matt Jones
So these are. But that's why you might just get a regular business card.
Billy
Too late for that, you know.
Matt Jones
Okay, listen, I don't want you to be nervous.
Drew
It's all right.
Shannon
We're going.
Drew
Have fun.
Matt Jones
We're going to. This is a fun trip. This is a reward for every. Every Sunday night this year. We've gotten up at 11:30 at night and tramped ourself down to the studio in the front, freezing cold to talk about these. This is the reward. This is not like.
Billy
Well, it is a nervous excitement. Like, you know, like. It's not, like, bad, right? I'm not, like, thinking bad thoughts.
Matt Jones
I've never seen you this nervous.
Billy
Well, overconfident. Billy will come out, but he's not here right now.
Matt Jones
The digital business card, I might just put that to the side.
Ryan
This is beta Billy you're seeing right now.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I think we may just. Let's not pull out that if you walk up to a stranger and go, hi, I'm Billy. Scan my digital business card. I don't. Drew. I don't think that's the phone.
Ryan
A virus or something, you know, that's like.
Drew
Most people don't do that, like, just scanning random qr.
Matt Jones
I think they'll be, like, taking all their info. So just do me a favor. I'll introduce you to the people I know. I don't know everybody, but I know some people. I'll introduce you. Do me Anyone I introduce you to, please don't tell them to scan your digital.
Billy
Even if I get it working?
Matt Jones
No, if. If it's somebody I don't know, Scan the digital business card if you want, but if I introduce you to someone I know, like, no digital business.
Billy
Like Taylor Lawan.
Matt Jones
Hey, I don't know him. But, like, if I introduce you to, like, Taylor the one, like, if I introduce you to, like, Dan Orlovsky. Oh, yeah, man.
Billy
Scan the card.
Matt Jones
No, don't. No, no scan in the car.
Drew
That seems like a scam. Like you're just gonna get in and get all night.
Matt Jones
Do not scan the call.
Billy
They don't trust me.
Matt Jones
I wouldn't trust you. Can you imagine some random dude coming up in their quarter zip saying, scan my digital business?
Billy
I am credentialed.
Matt Jones
Everyone is credentialed.
Billy
We're credentialed with the NFL. I mean, they saw my hat, right?
Drew
All right, we're pro quarter zip, anti digital business card. We're getting. We're getting through this, all right?
Matt Jones
You're going to do fine. What are you wearing to the party Saturday night?
Billy
Oh, I got an all black look. Saturday night.
Matt Jones
So do I. Oh, we're not wearing the same.
Billy
You're gonna have to change.
Drew
Guys, I got bad news. I got an all black look too.
Matt Jones
Are you? No. You don't have all black, do you? Okay, I was about to say we can't all have all black. Is it a suit? No.
Billy
Okay, so I'm wearing a button down and pants.
Matt Jones
Okay. What about you?
Billy
Little action?
Drew
No, I don't have a suit.
Matt Jones
No. Okay. All right, good.
Billy
Dick Van Dyke shoots shoes.
Matt Jones
All right, get out of here. 8 5, 9, 2 8. Let's go to Seth. Go ahead, Seth.
Ryan
Are you going to skip over? Do you not see who's on number 10 right there?
Matt Jones
Oh, no, I. It's. It's made up. Who is it?
Ryan
Oh, it's. It's Chester.
Matt Jones
Oh, Chester. Go ahead.
Ryan
He's up next.
Caller
Hey, Matt, Listen, I just want to say, first of all that I'm. I'm. I. I hope that we can stick with Pope and cut out the nonsense about trying to get rid of him. No matter what happens the rest of this season, I feel like he deserves at least a good three years before we make any sort of comments about that. Second thing is, I. I don't know if y' all talk about it, but what I loved about that game against Arkansas was Tyler Ulis over there wearing that blue suit. I don't know if y' all Talked about it, but he had on a blue suit. And you can't tell me that was an accident. You cannot tell me that was a message. That was a message to the big blue nation. And I hope to someday see him back over on. On our sideline. Last thing, and I'll get off here. You all were talking about the ankles. I. I do not understand this for the life of me. When I grew up, I had weak ankles. I. I would. I would always be spraying my ankles. And then basketball tennis shoes started to change, and. And I believe it was an 808 or maybe an 880 or something that Avia made. And I got me a pair of them. And you cannot sprain your ankle in a shoe like that. Now, I'm not saying they got to get back to old 880s or anything, but when you look at these shoes these players are wearing, they. They don't. They don't make a high top. I saw the other day at this youth league, some kid, I said, look, that kid was wearing a pair of skateboarding shoes out there. And my buddy said those were the new Devin Booker shoes.
Matt Jones
Yeah, new shoes are very rarely high tops. Yeah, LeBron's, like, the only one that still wears high tops.
Caller
And the players are way more powerful and more strong and cutting on them. I don't understand it. Why don't they, why don't they wear a high top? I mean, we used to wear high tops to prevent the ankle sprain. And you wouldn't get an ankle sprain in a lot of them shoes because they were, they were, they were like.
Matt Jones
You're not the only person that said that. Chester, good to hear from you. By the way, don't be a stranger.
Caller
Okay, Well, I appreciate it. It's. This show's popular. I've been on here waiting for an hour. It's. It's a lot of.
Matt Jones
A lot of work. But I see you on there.
Drew
My fault.
Matt Jones
I appreciate the call. What do you think you agree with about the high tops?
Shannon
That thought crossed my mind last night. I was watching the Pacers Rockets game, and they. Every one of those guys are wearing low top shoes.
Matt Jones
I just went to that game.
Shannon
We went to watch Reed shepherd and the Rockets. Me, yoga girl. I gave her that for her. I gave her that as a Valentine's present.
Matt Jones
Wait a minute.
Shannon
Wrong. Nothing says romance like Reed Shepherd.
Matt Jones
You gave her an NBA game for her Valentine's Day present?
Drew
And tin roof, though?
Shannon
Yeah, ten roof.
Matt Jones
Is she an NBA fan?
Shannon
She loves Reed Shepherd. She would leave me for Reed shepherd in a second.
Matt Jones
Well, that's a big age gap.
Shannon
She. If Reed Shepherd's on tv, she's watching it. And she's never been to an NBA game.
Matt Jones
Did she want that?
Shannon
She loved it.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Did Reed play?
Shannon
Well, he started. No Kevin Durant. So Reed started, but he didn't have his best game. Tell you a little, dude, they were.
Drew
From what I saw.
Shannon
But there were Kentucky people everywhere. We got out of our car and 30 seconds later, we ran into like seven dudes from Manchester. They were Kentucky people all over the place. And when he got announced in the starting lineup, he got the biggest applause of anybody.
Matt Jones
Well, that's cool.
Shannon
Very cool.
Matt Jones
Interesting Valentine's Day gift.
Shannon
Nothing says romance like Reed Shepherd.
Matt Jones

Welcome back Teche Sports Radio, 859-280-22871 person says Matt, I love you guys. Love this show. Four of you are getting on a flight and you just said earlier middle finger to Annabelle.
Shannon
Agree.
Matt Jones
Take it back.
Shannon
I tried to get you to take it back.
Matt Jones
All right, fine. Because we're getting on a flight.
Shannon
Say you're sorry. Say you're sorry.
Matt Jones
Sorry, Annabelle.
Shannon
Here we go.
Matt Jones
Thank you. You're a wonderful young lady and I wish you the best.
Shannon
Very sincere.
Ryan
You're talking to a dollar.
Matt Jones
You're the one that thinks that. You're the one that thinks all these players got injured because I don't really think that.
Ryan
But you just apologize to it.
Matt Jones
I do apologize. Sorry, Annabelle. One person writes Matt in the corporate world today, everybody uses digital business Cards. Billy's ahead of the game. You just don't understand. Yeah, I don't believe that. I mean, I believe people may do it and they act like they want it, but they don't.
Drew
We're also not in the corporate world. He's trying to do that to Christian McCaffrey.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I mean, I will grant you that there are probably a lot of people that have them and they tell them to scan them, but, like, I don't think anybody uses it.
Shannon
You scan his. You got to put in your name, your phone number, your email, all your information before you can even get to his.
Matt Jones
Do you think. You think Billy McCaffrey is going to.
Ryan
Be like Billy McCaffrey?
Matt Jones
Christian McCaffrey is going to be like, I'd like to put in my email and phone number so I can find out about this Billy kid.
Shannon
Billy really impressed me. I'm going to save his contact info.
Drew
I think if you just tap iPhones, it sends your contact info anyway. We could teach him that trick.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I don't know. Think Christian McCaffrey wants Billy to have his iPhone number either.
Shannon
I just think, hey, he's legit nervous. That wasn't an act. That was.
Matt Jones
That was not an act. Justin, Go ahead, Justin.
Caller
Hey, Matt. I am a sophomore at Harvard from Lyon County.
Matt Jones
Oh, wow. Congratulations to you, by the way.
Caller
Thank you, thank you. I appreciate that. I wanted to get your take on the great inflation problem that you guys talked about earlier in the year. So Harvard actually reduced their number of A's from 60% to 53% in the fall. There's kind of a split within the students of. Do students get more A's because we're Harvard students or are the professors too lax? So I need to college.
Matt Jones
They are too lax. 53% is still too high. The whole point of grade. So, like, the fact that you go to Harvard in and of itself means, I think, a C at Harvard. I would assume a C at Harvard is as smart as an A at other schools, but, like, 53% an A should be. You are the best 15, 20% in the class. If 60% of the kids are getting an A, then that's nothing. So when I was in law school, we had a curve. And, like, I first didn't like it, but then I did well. And so I like the curve because there's a difference between the people who do really well and just kind of well. So to me, 53% is way too high. I bet back in the day at Harvard, only 15% or 20% got it ways.
Caller
I think there's a. There's a shift now where a lot of the professors are more interested in teaching rather than grading, but that's fine.
Matt Jones
But that's. That's not the real world, though. The real world. All right, now, I must sound like I'm gonna sound maga Matt here for a second. But the real world is not everybody's gonna do well. Like it. You have to be competitive and like, you have to teach people that you're gonna have to excel and so everybody is good. Is not the lesson that you. That I think you want to teach. Now you're going to Harvard. If you just have a diploma, you're going to do great in life if you don't screw it up. But like, you should want to have the best of the best. So I. I know it's hurts people's feelings to not get good grades, but you're at Harvard. Go for it.
Caller
All right. Appreciate you.
Matt Jones
Appreciate it. That is my view now. I feel differently maybe about UK where, like, I think it's a different thing, but at the top schools, I want people going for the. It's like at Kentucky. What if I told you 60% of the players in the SEC make all SEC first team.
Drew
It's no fun.
Matt Jones
That's ridiculous.
Drew
Who's good?
Matt Jones
Who's good? Same way in grades, like you said.
Shannon
Even the guy gets a D plus but gets a diploma. D plus average. Gets a diploma from Harvard. It's still a diploma certificate from Harvard.
Matt Jones
After you get your first job, nobody cares what your grades were. Amen. Nobody ever asked me what my grades are at Duke Law School.
Shannon
Helps you get your first job and.
Matt Jones
Helps you get your first job. But even. But if you go to Harvard, you're going to get a good first job anyway.
Shannon
Yep.
Matt Jones
So that's just me. Eight, five, nine. Who's big blue? Profit. Go ahead.
Caller
Yeah. I guess your opinion on things with the injuries, is it Hope needs to get a new medical staff or is there like kind of like a screening we need to do with these players coming in? Are they already injured when we get them and they don't tell us about it?
Matt Jones
Well, I mean, I don't think they were. Acquaintance was. But Drew, I don't think any of the other guys were, so.
Drew
No, I mean, Lo didn't have a shoulder problem.
Matt Jones
Appreciate the call.
Drew
Had a couple ankles here recently. There's a lot of people calling out our training staff. I. I just. I have no idea of what they're doing and what they're not doing. You know, maybe it's an issue, but speaking of school and grades, I didn't get that far into the medical field to be able to criticize our trainer.
Matt Jones
Don't you want to know who the best doctors are? They need to have grade differences.
Shannon
You know, we don't talk. Always sprained his ankle for the game and yet had 24 points, didn't hit a three pointer and guarded a cuff and frustrate him. That alone speaks highly of what he can do as a pro. I think he made some money in that game.
Matt Jones
By the way. I would also be okay if schools did pass fail like they do that at Yale Law School. Yeah, just pass fail. If you want to do that, that's fine. Just be like everybody that graduates here is good. If you're going to give grades 60%. Getting an A is ridiculous.
