Show Host Intro
This is Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.
Matt Jones
Well, welcome everyone. It is Kentucky Sports Radio, Wednesday, February 5th. I'm Matt Jones here live in San Francisco, California. It's Thursday.
Drew Franklin
It is Thursday.
Matt Jones
Anybody is September 5th. I don't think it's September every February 5th. I said September yesterday. Why did I. Why do I do football?
Drew Franklin
You're already ready for next football season.
Matt Jones
I guess I did like yesterday. Mario asked me if the last game was Sunday.
Drew Franklin
That was fun.
Matt Jones
Yeah, the Super Bowl. They finished the year.
Drew Franklin
Are we still doing game recaps?
Matt Jones
859-280-2287 is the Clark's puppet Shop phone line. A Vision Auto Glass text machine is 772-774-5254 in this dish and sponsored by the TJ Smith Law Office. If you call TJ he'll make them pay. It is Thursday. We've only been here 36 hours, but it feels like we've been here a long time. And in Billy's room again after we were here late last night doing a post game show. Drew it has been an excellent 36 hours, capped off by the Cats win yesterday. I was going to say, you know, we're going to talk a lot about our trip because we talked a lot about the game last night. That's not really true.
Drew Franklin
On the post game show, we tried.
Matt Jones
We did try, but we were giddy. And because we were giddy, we ended up being. I even had Dan Pfeiffer, former ABC TV news analysts, go, you all sounded like you were on gummies last night, and I promise you we were not. But then someone said that's what people who were odd gummies would say. So I guess there's no way to prove otherwise.
Drew Franklin
There are a Lot of allegations of marijuana use. We were too busy yesterday to even stop if we wanted to. I mean, it was just one thing after another. That was just pure happiness. And 14,000 steps yesterday, those need to count as triple. These are not normal steps out here. Like, my legs are still hurting. But no, yesterday, truly one of my favorite days of all time. Not just with ksr. That was like one of my best life days.
Matt Jones
I agree. So we want to talk about some of it. 859-280-2287 we'll. We will talk about the game, I promise. But look, we're out here, so I think we need to talk about being here now. The first. Our first episode, they had. Even the NFL has audio difficulties, at least when we're there. So they want you scoot over and let Mario sit down.
Drew Franklin
Billy.
Billy
I'm not gonna bite. Mario, come on.
Show Host Intro
Right here.
Drew Franklin
Get in bed with Billy.
Matt Jones
All right. So. So anyway that we. The first episode did come out. It's out last night. It has our interview with Mike Golic and with who's our Davis. Terrell Davis. Sean Alexander is listed on there. But they're putting that one out today, and I want you to listen to it. It also includes Stevie Johnson of Stevie Got Loose fame. And it was a lot of fun. But. But the highlight was just the day. So I'm going to try to explain a little bit about what this is so people understand. All right. And feel free to jump in. When you walk in to NFL Radio row, it is a plethora of everything. Every TV station, every TV show you can imagine is live there. And every radio show you can imagine and podcast is there. Is that fair to say?
Drew Franklin
Yeah. For people. Imagine what you see on tv and you think that's like some big set. No, it's pretty small. And they're just next to each other in a row. One after. It's like walking through your tv.
Matt Jones
So, like, I'll just quit. I'll just think about going from around the side. So you're like, there's Pat McAfee. There's ESPN Radio. There's CBS, Jim Rome and all those people. There's Bleacher Report that looks to have spent $10 million on their set. Their Sirius XM with Stephen A. Smith, Chris Russo, Katie Nolan. Right. There's the NFL Network. There's Matt and Drew and Billy. Why are we there? There's no reason for us to be there. Oh, look, there's Fox Sports Radio. There's Stu Gods and Dan leitard. Right. There's DraftKings. There's FanDuel. You just circle around, and then on the inside are kind of the lesser things, and even those are, like, things you've heard of. There's Shannon Sharp. There's. You know, FIFA had a booth. FIFA was. Had a World cup booth. And, like, in one of the prime slots are me.
Drew Franklin
And, you know, why.
Matt Jones
Stop.
Billy
Why?
Drew Franklin
We walked straight to the middle with the little tables, because that's just our natural. Oh, this is us here, where they have nothing available.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. They're like, no, no. That big city with the lights and the crew of 15 people waiting for you. That's you all.
Matt Jones
And then you get on the set. It's amazing what lighting can do. I felt handsome for the first time in my life on, like. Like, you get lights and a good camera, and you're like, whoa, my eyes are blue. That's nice. Like. Like what? That you want to feel good about yourself. Have someone take a picture of you on a TV studio set.
Billy
Billy. Yeah, the set was incredible. I thought the same thing. We were going to get the. The table next to the. The water fountain. I mean. No. And we're gonna be on a different set today. We got a lounge set today.
Matt Jones
We're gonna be on their casual couch set, which yesterday, while we were sitting there, had the workaholics and the Vanderpumps. And the Vanderpumps were there. Hello, Ms. Vanderpump. I didn't know what to say to the Vanderpumps. I was. I was geeking out at Adam Devine. Kelvin Gemstone. I wanted to sing to him and say that I was gonna run around the house with a pickle in my mouth. But he. I was way too happy to see him because I didn't expect to see someone like that there.
Drew Franklin
No, we told him, you know, we're a sports show, but we would do reviews of your episodes on Mondays after watching them and right after that, and I could tell he was loving it, and he was being all nice. I was like, this is the part where Matt's gonna sing. I felt it in my bones.
Matt Jones
You thought I was gonna sing.
Drew Franklin
I was like, matt is gonna baby Billy. Him right here on this set. I was prepared.
Matt Jones
I don't think he would. I think I would have been embarrassing, but I wanted to, baby. But you know who's on there today? I looked at right before us on that set. What's his name? Bowen yang.
Drew Franklin
The 2.
Matt Jones
The guy on Saturday Night Live. And then, like, he has a podcast with, like, another gay guy.
Drew Franklin
We'll go talk snl.
Matt Jones
They'll probably have us on as a guest. I would think we're on there right before us. It's, it's, it's this, them and then us.
Drew Franklin
When these people say the vanderpump.
Matt Jones
Martha Stewart's going to be there today.
Drew Franklin
We got to interview Martha.
Matt Jones
Martha Stewart. What if we, what if, what if we get Martha Stewart today?
Drew Franklin
See, those are the kind of guests we need. Like, with all due respect to the second string linebacker from the Colts that we have on the schedule tomorrow, we have.
Matt Jones
So who do we have today? We have Christian Watson and when some guy I've never heard.
Billy
Defensive tackle.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
From the, from the.
Matt Jones
Yeah. This is, it's a big major. And don't, don't, don't tell him I said this. It's a big major step down in guests. Like yesterday was just a murderer.
Drew Franklin
That was silly.
Matt Jones
I mean, you stock with. You start with Terrell Davis, then you come to Mike Golic, then you come to Sean Alexander and then you get busing with the boys. Joe Milton, who I didn't have a lot to talk about, but was nice. Christian McCaffrey is, is the next.
Drew Franklin
And who was last? Bryce Young.
Matt Jones
Bryce. Only Bryce Young.
Billy
What we sang to him.
Matt Jones
We did. We sang. If I had $150,000.
Billy
He.
Drew Franklin
I'm not going to do the Gilly thing. But so many of those people, all of them, they could have, they had a busy day. They could have walked to the next set immediately shaking hands. Thanks, guys. Most of them hung around and talked off the air, just being like over the top nice to us. Like, Bryce Young was like, all right, Bryce, you can leave now. You don't have to like hang here all day. But like, you think their crew would usher them off. But they just wanted.
Matt Jones
That was my biggest takeaway was how nice all those people were. Like the buzzing with the boys. People like, they are. They've literally got tons of people following them around everywhere they go, like fans. I don't know how those people got in there, but they couldn't be nice. And they acted like we were all friends. And I felt bad giving him a hard time about Will Stein, which I did. And he took it completely fine. Right.
Drew Franklin
And mentioned my guy Manny here before. He was a big Panthers. Bryce Young fan.
Matt Jones
And Bryce Young, that was cool.
Drew Franklin
I told him that. He pulled me aside. He's like, let's get a picture and send it to his friends and family. And I'm like, that is just so.
Matt Jones
That was really nice because you, for People who don't know. Drew's friend Manny was a big Panthers fan, and Bryce Young wanted to, like, do something for. For his family. How nice is that?
Drew Franklin
I said, bryce, I know you played well, but Manny actually carried you to the playoffs. Just need you to know that. He took it in stride and said, let's send a picture to everyone.
Matt Jones
So that was. That was. That was great. The Stevie Johnson thing, though, maybe the highlight. So we're. We're sitting there, and we see a guy wearing this ridiculous Buffalo Bills like Fred Flintstone had, and we go look at that guy, and then all of a sudden, I think you said, it's Stevie Johnson.
Drew Franklin
Oh, I screamed. I threw my fly guy hands together immediately.
Matt Jones
So we stand up and we do the fly guy. He sees us, comes running over, pulls off his Buffalo Bills hat and has a Kentucky hat in the Bills hat. My man was walking around with with a Kentucky hat in his Bills hat, which shows he loves Kentucky. Who does that, right?
Drew Franklin
And he was pretty far away. I don't know what he was supposed to be doing. He sprinted to us, came under a little rope area we had. You were like, you got a few minutes? Of course I have a few minutes.
Matt Jones
So he sits down with us. He was not on the schedule, and it was a great conversation. You can hear it. It's on the COVID Zero podcast. It's the very first thing, so you definitely want to hear that. And while you're doing it, go ahead and subscribe to it. That would be nice.
Drew Franklin
He.
Matt Jones
He. You brought up the rap. He did before the LSU game.
Drew Franklin
I might be one of three people that still listen to that regularly.
Matt Jones
You brought it up. And in one of the most amazing things I've ever seen, he remembered the whole thing and did it right there with Drew chipping in throughout. I don't know what's more impressive, that he remembered it or that you remembered it.
Drew Franklin
Got the whole town yelling, big blue. It's true.
Matt Jones
But that.
Drew Franklin
I mean, as cool as the stuff on the set was, you might be right.
Matt Jones
The.
Drew Franklin
Just the surprise of the impromptu interview of Stevie Johnson and him remembering that song almost 20 years later.
Matt Jones
And I got to tell Stevie Johnson that Stevie got loose came from us. He didn't know. He knew. He knew it came from somewhere, and he knew it. But I was like, stevie, that came from my friend who was drunk in the parking lot going, steve got Lou. And he was like, no way. He was like, I've always wondered. And I got to tell him that Philly, that. I mean, you're Too young to appreciate how awesome that was, but that was awesome.
Billy
Well, you could just hear it in his voice, the joy. I mean, he was so appreciative of everything that Kentucky had done for him. And I. It was perfect. Besides me screwing up the dap in which Mario record.
Matt Jones
That was a bad dap.
Drew Franklin
You're not.
Matt Jones
You're not a dapper.
Billy
I appreciate him going in for a dap, but I just.
Matt Jones
Have you ever done a good dap?
Billy
More of a firm handshake, looking in.
Drew Franklin
The eye kind of guy.
Billy
Maybe get. Get your business card.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
Someone yesterday replied to a video and said, I had a clean dap. And I got to be honest, I've never gotten a better compliment. That made my day. Cuz when you have a bad dap like Billy, it gets called out. You look like you don't belong there. And I'm not a great dapper either. I looked into it, but it looked clean. And I feel.
Matt Jones
I always just shake hands because I, I don't want to have the weird dap. If somebody leans in for a hug, I'll do the bro hug. But I, I try to just. Hello, sir.
Drew Franklin
But like, when Joe Milton's got his hand up, it's like, oh, no.
Billy
Oh, that was another one.
Matt Jones
Yeah, you'll hear this. I think it'll be out today. Mario was making fun of me because I asked Joe Milton if. If food gets stuck in his grill. Is that about why? Is that a bad question?
Drew Franklin
He was immediately like, no, you just floss.
Matt Jones
But it feels like it's a good question. It was hard because we didn't know what to ask Joe Milton. I mean, let's be fair. Like, what are you going to ask him? I. I'll be honest. When he walked on set, I don't. I didn't know who he played for. I almost brought up the last, maybe two teams ago.
Drew Franklin
I pulled that Patriots question out of the. You know, when Will Ferrell blacks out and he's like, where?
Matt Jones
I didn't know he played for the Patriots. I was impressed.
Drew Franklin
Looked into that one.
Matt Jones
Yeah. And I, I did. So I was like, well, I'll sing Rocky Top to him and I'll get him to finish the word. And so I went once I had a girl on Rocky Top. And he was like, I don't know that song. And I go, how do you not know that song you played for Tennessee? He was like, yeah. Although he did a good line. He said, I heard it a lot when we played you all. I was like, yeah, but it was awesome. And then all day you're just looking around and you're like, oh, there's Cam Newton. Hello. T. Higgins and Jamar Chase. Like, if you look at one of our videos when we're talking to Sean Alexander, T. Higgins and Jamar Chase just walked by our. Our shoulders. That's like every NFL player you can think of. When I walked in, nearly not Joe Flacco on his ass.
Drew Franklin
I wasn't even through the door yet. You were like, three steps in the door and you and Joe Flacco just almost collide. He's got all his little Flacos with him.
Matt Jones
I almost brought down Flacco.
Drew Franklin
The whole Flacco family. You almost took them out as we're stepping into the building, and then you.
Matt Jones
See, like random people and. And like, you would see them out on the street. You might get excited. They don't register in there. Like, hey, Brock Hubert. Oh, you don't. I don't have time for you. Listen. Come on.
Drew Franklin
Donovan Abs right there.
Matt Jones
Donald McNabb. Shannon. Don McNabb. He's. He's not been in the white room.
Show Host Intro
Oh, is. Is he not the same Donovan McNabb he was when he was playing?
Matt Jones
Some of these guys look like they could still play. Yeah.
Drew Franklin
Terrell Davis.
Matt Jones
Terrell Davis looks like he. Sean Merriman looked like he could still play. Joe flack or. Donovan McNabb's not playing to get the.
Show Host Intro
Dad going on at least.
Matt Jones
Well, that's. That'd be generous.
Drew Franklin
I mean, he does have a. A vault of Campbell's chunky, you know.
Billy
That's true, dude.
Drew Franklin
I'm not judging him.
Matt Jones
Okay, so for life, we did. With all of that said, though, in my opinion, not the best moment.
Drew Franklin
Yep.
Matt Jones
The best moment was we had a run in with ice.
Show Host Intro
The ice ice.
Drew Franklin
The.
Matt Jones
The vanilla ice cream ice. And. But it's not what you think. And we will talk about that after this break. Cover 0 KSR met ice and it was really an interesting interaction. That's next right here. Okay.

Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio 859-280-2287 Text Machine 772-774-52541 Person writes Matt, my wife and I love your show. We're currently listening to it while getting an ultrasound for our son coming in May. I'm sure the ultrasound tech is enjoying it as much as us. Hello to the ultrasound tech and good luck on the ultrasound and go cats and go baby.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, I know about those ultrasound trips right now. I hope everything's going well with them.
Matt Jones
Yes, I do to do as well. One person says Matt singing Rocky Top to cater to a Tennessee player is gross. I've said this before. I kind of like Rocky Top as a song. I don't like your like it when they play it when they score. But I'm I mean I like that kind of music. What do you want me to say? Half bear, the other half cat. I know it better than the Tennessee players.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, if you don't want Matt seeing it, at least he had a Tennessee quarterback admit that he don't even really know.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I got to admit, one of their quarterbacks doesn't even know the song.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, so it worked out in your favor. Even you weren't trying to embarrass him, but it might have come off that way.
Matt Jones
I really wasn't trying to embarrass him. You just want to sing one person, right? I think one of the reasons everybody was so nice to you is they thought Jeff Saturday was on the set. Great moment this is. First of all, you do look like Jeff Saturday.
Drew Franklin
I've gotten that before.
Matt Jones
Former Indianapolis Colts player and coach actually, Tony Dungy came and pulled on Drew's the best way to pulled on his shirt like a little child meeting his heel.
Drew Franklin
I was on an elevated surface and someone just kept pulling on me and I'm like what? Who is this? And actually Will from bus with the boys said, tony Dungy is pulling on you. And I'm like, what? And I turn around and we lock eyes and Tony Dungey looks at me and it's clear he has the wrong person. And he is oh no.
Matt Jones
He was. I saw this. He was giddy to talk to you. And I was like, have Drew and Tony Dungy been carrying on a torrid love affair that I didn't know about. Like, how. How did it. Because. Because he had that look like, I am so excited to see you. And then Drew turned around, and the disappointment was so palpable on his face. And then there was this awkward. You gave each other a fist bump.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, I looked at him, basically. I think my eyes told him. I realized that you don't really want to talk to me, so let's just acknowledge this mistake, and we'll both move.
Matt Jones
On and we don't have to talk about it.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, I gave him that. I feel like we. We had a full conversation with our eyes.
Matt Jones
You did. And then he just Bolsted off, and.
Drew Franklin
He was like, hey, hey, hey. And then went back to his.
Matt Jones
And then went right back to.
Drew Franklin
He was just yanking on my shirt, trying to speak to me.
Matt Jones
All right, Shannon, I. I want to tell this story. Okay. Do you like you. All right, so, I mean, you. You've watched the news. ICE has been in the news, right? We know what's been happening. What's been happening with ice. So this is not what I thought was going to happen if I. So we're sitting there, and a man is pulling this briefcase on wheels, Like a huge briefcase. Shannon, just to describe to you, think about how big our traveling equipment is in that big rolling seat. You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah. The equipment, like, for the radio show, right? It was about this big. And he's rolling it through this room, and all of a sudden, he stops, and he looks at me, and he goes, hey, you're the guy from Wrestlers, right? And I was like, yeah. How did you know that? Although, oddly, a lot of people recognize me from Wrestlers, apparently.
Show Host Intro
A lot of people.
Matt Jones
And I was like, yeah. And he goes. And he goes, hey, yeah, I love that show. And I'm like, oh, you know, so now I'm making small talk. And I go, yeah, what do you do? And he's like, I'm with ice, Border Patrol. And so I try not to have, like, a physical reaction. I'm like, oh, okay. Yeah. And he. I was like, what. What are you doing here? Because, you know, that's been in the news that they were going to be at the super bowl, and, like, there was controversy. I thought maybe I was going to be breaking journalistic news. And he goes, you know, well, we just. We just got a counterfeit Lombardi Trophy. I was like, oh, okay. He was like, yeah, there's a guy out there acting like he had the 85 San Francisco 49ers Super bowl trophy. So we took it from Him.
Show Host Intro
That's Ice job.
Matt Jones
Because I didn't know Shannon that ice did that.
Show Host Intro
Yeah, I thought they were border patrol.
Matt Jones
He goes. He looks at me, and he goes, you want to see it? And I was like, sure, yeah. Why not?
Show Host Intro
Let's look at it.
Matt Jones
And so he opens up this briefcase, and not only is that in there, there are, like, 25 counterfeit Patrick Mahomes jerseys. He was like, yeah, we're just. See, we're seizing fake merchandise. ICE and Border patrol are walking around, just taking fake merchandise like people are.
Drew Franklin
Selling, and then rolling it through radio.
Matt Jones
And then rolling it through radio row and then just showing it to people. So then he hands us, Shannon, this fake super bowl trophy. Drew and Billy and I pose with it. It says, 49ers dolphins. We hold it. People then think that it's the real trophy. So, Shannon, a line develops of people wanting to hold the fake Lombardi Trophy.
Show Host Intro
People don't care as long as.
Matt Jones
So we take. So we take these pictures, and then this guy from ICE goes, hey, post that picture. Just make sure you tag ice, just.
Show Host Intro
So you know that it's the fake one.
Matt Jones
He wants me to hold up a fake super bowl trophy and go, thanks, Ice.
Drew Franklin
He gave us their Twitter handle.
Matt Jones
He gave us their Twitter handle. So I had no idea that Border patrol and ice. I've been seen on the news. Did you know they seized counterfeit football material?
Show Host Intro
I'm not.
Matt Jones
No.
Show Host Intro
I'm not convinced they're the real ICE that you met. That may be fake ice out there. I didn't know that. Ice.
Matt Jones
Well, see, I will say. We did say stuff. One of the guys with the. One of the guys with the NFL did look at me and say, you sure that guy was.
Drew Franklin
He had a pin on his suit.
Matt Jones
He did have a pin, though.
Drew Franklin
They were wearing suits.
Show Host Intro
Could be a fake.
Matt Jones
They were wearing suits. He had a. He had an ICE Border Patrol pin.
Drew Franklin
There were about six of them with this one crate.
Matt Jones
Yes. There were a lot of guys. Like, if they were pulling off a ruse, it was a heck of a ruse, but I don't think they were. I. I think they were, because they also had gotten in, so they had to have had something. I mean, I. I didn't know we.
Drew Franklin
Had that division where we're going and getting counterfeit Pat Mah jersey. But there was, like, 15 jerseys in one trophy and six guys in suits carrying it around. Like, maybe just let the Pat Mahomes guy have his jerseys.
Matt Jones
But we were talking about. Shannon, if you. In other contexts, when people seize things, they don't have the general public, like, pose with it. Like, if they seize $50,000 worth of cocaine, they don't just let people go. Hey, you want to pose with the cocaine, right?
Show Host Intro
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Like, we were posing.
Drew Franklin
When we were posing, like, Jersey. I took Matt's picture. Billy took my. You know, we. Rotation. When this line formed, there was. Everyone was by themselves. So the actual ICE people were taking the photos for each fan. And the trophy they, like, set up, basically a trophy.
Show Host Intro
If I were there, I'd be digging into that bag. What else is in there? Can I pose with. With this? Like, what else is in that bag?
Matt Jones
I. It was just. It was just a. A thing. I didn't know they did. It's like, a lot of people don't know the Secret Service does counterfeit money. ICE must be in addition to trying to find illegal immigrants looking for illegal Patrick Mahomes jerseys.
Billy
And we're cheesing hard in that photo. At least I am.
Matt Jones
Well, it was just a bizarre occurrence.
Drew Franklin
And it's the Lombardi.
Matt Jones
We'll be right back. Ksr.
Drew Franklin
TJ Smith, personal injury attorney. Call tj. He'll make him pay.
Show Host Intro
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Matt Jones
I mean, I'm not proud that I like the song, but it's a good. It's objectively a good song. Wild as a mink but sweet as Sodi pop.
Drew Franklin
I'll sing it on the postgame show a few weeks ago.
Matt Jones
I mean, I don't. I. I hate that it's their song, but what am I supposed to do? It's written by two guys from Kentucky. Like, you gotta. What are you gonna do?
Drew Franklin
Can we go take it? We just.
Matt Jones
I mean, we took the checkerboards.
Drew Franklin
So we gave it back pretty quickly, though.
Matt Jones
Not quick enough. We kept it for a while. All right, so I stands for Immigration and Customs Enforcement. So customs is materials. I don't know if they were thinking that those jerseys were, like, imported from. Well, maybe they are, probably.
Drew Franklin
I mean, I've got a woman in China. Her name's Rose. She emails me all the time.
Matt Jones
You get all kinds of stuff from knockoff jersey. You should have just turned yourself in.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, I thought they were there to get me. I was like, oh, no, they found out about Rose.
Billy
But the. The tag us on social media on the way.
Matt Jones
I like the tag us on social media. You know, they need some good. They need some good publicity. I was shocked by the way. Shannon. How many people. I had three different people come up to me yesterday. And recognize me from Wrestlers.
Show Host Intro
That's crazy.
Matt Jones
I mean, that show came out three years ago.
Show Host Intro
Yeah. But, you know, it's on Netflix. It's out there all across the world. So I guess maybe a lot more people watch that than what we thought. You know, when we were in Chicago.
Matt Jones
I saw the numbers. Yeah, Yeah, I saw the numbers. I mean, we had a lot of people watch it, but it was. You know, I just think. Because in Kentucky, people only talk to me about Kentucky. So it's just. But you're right. When we had it in Chicago, and it's just that happened three times yesterday. It threw.
Drew Franklin
It threw me off.
Matt Jones
So, you know, there you go. One person writes, billy got. Has gotten to hear me preach a couple times on topics when things come up. You know, you heard me yesterday when somebody. When we were talking about something.
Billy
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Somebody writes Donald Trump. This morning, Matt was at the National Prayer Breakfast and said he doesn't understand how a Christian could be a Democrat. What's your response? My response is my relationship with Jesus Christ does not need Donald Trump's approval. There's nowhere in the Bible that says I need Donald freaking Trump to tell me about my relationship with Jesus. Now I'll move on.
Billy
There's been a couple rants on the trip. Expecting a couple more.
Matt Jones
But you seem. You seem to like it.
Billy
I do like it.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Because you like. You ask me questions. I like talking to you about things because you ask me questions and are thoughtful.
Billy
Yeah. I don't know much about it, but I like to learn.
Matt Jones
Much about it. All right, so a couple people have asked me about Billy here. Yes.
Drew Franklin
What a day.
Matt Jones
All right, so let's just. Let's talk about Billy's day yesterday. All right, first of all, you don't get to jump in until we say Billy. What did you think about Billy at the thing? Reversible quarter zip. Wore one half of the quarter zip to the NFL thing. The ESPN VIP party last night. Flip the quarter zip to the other side. Incredible. You like that work?
Drew Franklin
I'll say. I was confused because I thought the point of the quarter zip was help with packing. So, like, navy sides Wednesday, gray sides Thursday. But he flipped midday for different events. My brain wasn't ready to see that kind of.
Matt Jones
We saw a couple people at both events. They had to be like, oh, this man's wild.
Drew Franklin
Because everyone else, you know, same people just saw him a little bit ago. I didn't know who you were.
Matt Jones
Blue at Meteor Row, gray for the ESPN party.
Drew Franklin
And the highlight, everyone that listened to yesterday's morning show, we were. We were giving Billy a hard time about the quarter zips. Terrell Davis, first guest. He and Billy are both wearing navy quarters.
Matt Jones
Shannon, Terrell Davis. They're wearing the same quarter zip. Oh, he's got a reversible color.
Billy
No.
Matt Jones
When we mentioned it was reversible, Terrell Davis goes, well, I don't know if I would do that.
Show Host Intro
It's the same shirt after all.
Drew Franklin
It kind of blew his mind, too.
Matt Jones
It did kind of blow his mind. Now, I watched Billy all day because I was keeping an eye on. Cause, you know, I mean, this is on this show's dime, or at least the NFL's dime. I don't want Billy spending too much time trying to get other jobs because that's essentially what he was insinuating yesterday. First time he tries to give somebody his digital business card, doesn't work, Shannon. He tries to give, it doesn't work. Awkward situation.
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Matt Jones
But then, Billy, you went back to the guy a second time, am I right?
Billy
No, you got it a little mixed up. The first guy I met had his own digital business.
Drew Franklin
Oh, Billy got reverse uno'd with the digital business.
Billy
I tried to give him mine. He had his own. He said he worked for iHeart. He said, that's become a thing. Everybody at I heart has to have a digital business card now. I was like, what do you mean?
Matt Jones
I don't think that's true. We don't have three people here shaking their head.
Billy
I scanned his card and his didn't work.
Matt Jones
So. So, so we're saying the whole system is built on faulty intelligence.
Billy
But mine's working and planning on handing it out a couple times today.
Show Host Intro
You know what does work? Handing somebody a physical business card. That always works.
Matt Jones
It does. That does work.
Billy
But what you say on the pre show this morning, Shannon, half the time, more than half the time, you just throw that business card away.
Matt Jones
I'm in your phone.
Billy
Whether you like it or these things.
Matt Jones
You're like, well, at one time when Apple made us all have a U2 album, that's what you're like. Yeah.
Billy
So I talked about being a little nervous for this and being really excited, but the Terrell Davis wearing a quarter zip. The first interview calmed me down like that. I knew, like, we were in our element. We got to talk about him thinking food was overrated. So, like, it just kind of. I mean, it kind of became real at that moment.
Matt Jones
And then I talked about this on the postgame show. So I won't go into it as extensively here, but then we take him to the ESPN parties where he's literally Shannon in a room with the president of esp.
Show Host Intro
That's the guy you can get a digital business card to right there.
Matt Jones
Billy doesn't even talk to anyone in that room. Instead he watches the Kentucky game on his phone and screams, way to go, Colin. With two different ESPN executives within three feet of it and about the game. And most of them came over to meet us. Billy did not speak to them. Mario said hello, introduced himself to Burke Magnus, the president of espn. Billy is just over there going, come on, bg, get your head in the game.
Drew Franklin
The best is when the most important people in the room were right next to our table. And Billy hits the Mike Breen bang right before halftime with Colin Chandler, president.
Matt Jones
Of espn, walks by and Billy goes bang. Colin Chandler.
Drew Franklin
Hey. He was excited about the game.
Matt Jones
It's like that was. That was your chance. I would have introduced you to them, although I was. I met them for the first time, but I could have been introduced you to them.
Billy
Yeah, I probably should have done more networking at that event than I did, but I had a post game show that we needed to talk about later. I thought I was doing my job a little bit.
Matt Jones
Yeah, yeah. You. There was about a 15 minute period where you disappeared. Were you. Were you going trying to talk to other cup. Did you have a job interview during those days?
Billy
No. I saw a couple people I knew.
Matt Jones
Who do you know?
Billy
Some people from 145the zone.
Matt Jones
What is that? I don't know.
Billy
It's a station in Nashville that I interned at back in the day. So I got to see them and then we talked about the. The people in Tampa that I that got their digital business card from. But it probably just came out wrong yesterday. I'm not actively looking for a new job.
Matt Jones
Well, I mean, we weren't the only ones that thought that. I think pretty much the who audience thought that.
Billy
Well, then I got a Tom Hart shout out, stirring the game.
Matt Jones
So let's talk about Tom Hart. Tom Hard essentially made Billy his entire game call. Brought up quarter zips, brought up digital business cards. Bought up, brought up trying to get a new job.
Drew Franklin
Billy, are you serious?
Matt Jones
After adult, are you serious? He brought up lather, which I can't believe he said on national television. That was in honor of Ryan falling.
Drew Franklin
For stuff on Facebook.
Matt Jones
I mean, he was on one yesterday. It was a Tom Hart legacy game. Billy was a huge part of that.
Billy
I looked at my phone, he had mentioned me three times already and then tweeted mid game I mean, there's nobody doing it like Tom. He is the best with his relationship with bbn.
Matt Jones
It's.
Billy
It's special.
Matt Jones
And he. I texted him after the game, Shannon, and said, you sure mentioned Billy a lot, and that's awesome. And he goes, well, I have to help Billy get a new gig. That's true.
Show Host Intro
Yeah. You know, Tom knows the people. You should get your car.
Matt Jones
Yeah, he was. He was trying to help Billy have his chance at his dream, which is apparently getting away from us.
Drew Franklin
There was a moment at the ESPN thing where it was just me and Billy, and he had just found out the Tom Hart stuff. I was trying to get a little serious with him. I'm like, billy, this really is a hell of a day you're having. You, like, soaking it in, because, I mean, just as excited as you were for Radio Row. And then, you know, we got there, we weren't even sure what the set was going to look like. And then they had, extra seat. You're up there with us. Got to be a part of everything we did. So you had an incredible day. I'm. I mean, I was happy for myself, but just as happy for you, too.
Matt Jones
Let's. I do want to say that for a second, this was, like your dream. Like, you've talked about how you've wanted to be at this event, this Radio Row thing, like, your entire life. Yeah. What was it like for you?
Billy
Well, it meant a lot for you guys to include me, to allow me to ask questions, to talk to Mike Golick, the quarter zip, stuff. Like, I appreciate you guys looping me into that. It was really cool and surreal. I mean, I don't think it hit me for a while that I was there and really overwhelming. I don't know about you guys, but walking in and everybody there, it was just crazy. It was just crazy. But it was just a personal goal of mine. People may think Radio Row is cheesy, but that is always something I wanted to do.
Matt Jones
Yeah, screw those people. Like, there's a lot of people that, like, have been there a lot that go, oh, this is like, no, it's not lame. It's awesome. It's. I mean, if you get to the point in anything in life that something cool and you're like, I don't care anymore, then you shouldn't be doing it. Right? Like, we get to. We get paid to do the coolest things in the world, to come to the super bowl and sit and, like, do this. I mean, there's so much suffering in the world, and we have been blessed to get a chance to like, literally follow our dreams. These jaded sports writers, I want to tell them to all blank off because, like, you could be, you know, you could be doing a million. You could be in the Sudan. I mean, you could be like working in something that like, at least enjoy your blessings. And I appreciate that you enjoy your blessings and you deserve to get to sit on that set and you deserve to the world to see your quarter zip. I mean, like, that's what colors we going with today?
Billy
Oh, I got like a brown one that's reversible. So, like, what's the other side of blue? It's a different shade of blue that I have.
Matt Jones
Oh, it's brown and blue. Okay.
Drew Franklin
Oh, wow.
Matt Jones
All right. That's big time. Well, if you're now, Drew had a nice interaction at a urinal yesterday.
Drew Franklin
This is top three moments in KSR history for me.
Billy

Welcome back. It is the wonderful Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-280-2287. Text machine is 772-774-5254. Rob Dillingham was just traded to the Chicago Bulls. It's probably good for him. He'll get to play, probably play through some of his mistakes and he really hasn't been able to get consistent run because Minnesota's too good. You know, it's been tough for him. He's only been in the league for, for two years and just already traded. It's unfortunate.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, I thought he'd have a little bit of a slight breakout this season in year two, but just hadn't had his opportunities. He looked good last summer in the summer league, and Wolves fans were getting excited. Just wasn't getting the minutes. So hopefully Chicago and the situation they're in will give him an opportunity to show what he can do.
Matt Jones
Yeah. 859-280-2287 text. Machine is 772-774-5254. All right, so you. So for people who don't know, Drew has one of his favorite athletes of all time is Derek Henry.
Drew Franklin
Derek Henry. King Henry.
Matt Jones
And you got to pee with him.
Drew Franklin
I did. I knew you put it that way. I knew he was on the premises. I knew there was an opportunity to meet Derek Henry, but this is a very big convention center. I saw him from a distance a couple of times.
Matt Jones
I thought, you know what I'll eventually talk about? Guy who's big.
Drew Franklin
He's massive.
Matt Jones
He is. I mean, like, can't confirm. Looks like, do not want to mess with that guy. Yeah, I can confirm.
Drew Franklin
But I go to the bathroom, and it is a. Well, Matt was in there first. I guess I had more water. Matt steps away, and I'm the only person in the. The row of urinals. But then this guy stands directly next to me at the. Not even leaving one between us, which is bad etiquette. And I'm like, who is this? And I kind of just look to.
Matt Jones
My left, Empty bathroom, completely empty. And came right.
Drew Franklin
And this person was big, and their shoulder was up against my shoulder, and I kind of had to lean to my right, like, dude, big bathroom here. And I look, and it's Derek Henry. It's just me and him there against the wall. And I thought, of all the places, this is the one place in this entire venue where I don't think I can speak to him anywhere else. I would have gone up, said, Derek Henry.
Matt Jones
So is there any part of you that wanted to say to him, because I agree with you, you cannot speak to someone while standing at the urinal.
Drew Franklin
Like, hey, man, I have every. I have your home away and alternate jersey.
Matt Jones
I mean, this is your guy. This would be. I think the equivalent for me would be if I was at the urinal and there was Ellie De La Cruz.
Drew Franklin
I mean, I've had years and years and years.
Matt Jones
So then how about Rod Brendamore? My. That's, you know, goes back 50.
Drew Franklin
You know, I. I drove to Kansas City to watch this man in the AFC championship. Countless Titans games, multiple jerseys, and my first time meeting him in person. We're both a Little. Little busy. Can't shake hands.
Matt Jones
I didn't.
Drew Franklin
I just walked out, and I kind of. I was laughing because I was like, that is the most ridiculous thing that will happen this entire week. But I didn't get to say hi to him, but I did in some. Can I call it meeting him?
Matt Jones
I mean, you met part of it.
Drew Franklin
I wish this weren't on live radio. I have so many jokes. You all have even heard a few of them. I just better not.
Matt Jones
You had a good one that I think everybody would like.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, my friends have gotten here a lot of those. But, I mean, my. I guess I'm glad I got to see Derek. Meet Derrick Henry. I'm gonna shut up. But of all the places to meet him.
Billy
Well, that's the. Right.
Drew Franklin
There's one sacred area that I could not speak to him, and that's where we ran into each other.
Billy
Have you had that happen to you?
Drew Franklin
And also, why did he go to the one right next to me?
Matt Jones
I think he wanted to speak.
Drew Franklin
There was a whole wall. Take your pick. There.
Matt Jones
I think he was hoping to have a conversation. I think he looked really leaning into me. He saw the Titan shirt, and he was like, let's do it.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, I was wearing a Titan shirt. Let's do.
Matt Jones
Let's do a test and see if he will speak to me.
Drew Franklin
He would have won that test. I assume that.
Matt Jones
And you. You did not do it. Now, another thing that's been interesting to watch. Mario has a crush on K. Adams. Mario thinks Kay Adams.
Drew Franklin
That was not a denial back there.
Matt Jones
Mario has for people who don't know K. Adams is a TV host. She's really beautiful, and Mario has a thing for. He. He talks about her a lot. It's Mario and Bronnie. It's K. K. Adams and Bronnie. Those are the two people. I think Mario. Mario would leave us to date K. Adams and to date Bronnie. And she was there, like, one of the first people we saw when we walked right away. And, you know, sometimes you meet people and they're not, like, as attractive as they are on television, because television can make you look good. Right. But Kay Adams, I will say objectively, is as beautiful in person, maybe more so. And, like, see, I'd never spoken to her, but seems like she would be nice, you know? Seems like she'd be the kind of person that's nice. I saw Mario when he first saw Kay Adams, and he was like a little boy. He was. He was like a little boy that had gotten his first, like, first Magazine. It was like if. If. If a catalog had come in the mail for Victoria's Secret.
Drew Franklin
He doesn't know what a catalog is.
Matt Jones
That's true. He doesn't know what a catalog is, but he had that. Oh, my. And he. And he did a little Tony dudgy tug on my. On my jacket. Was like, it's a big star. So we all have our people that get us excited. I now know Mario's kryptonite. K. Adams.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. CD Lamb was at the desk. I took a picture of him with K. Adams. And a lot of people in my mentions thought CD Was Mario in the picture.
Matt Jones
They do have.
Drew Franklin
I had several people.
Matt Jones
They do have the same. So maybe.
Drew Franklin
Maybe Mario can get in that chair.
Matt Jones
Here on day two, we need to try to get Mario a picture with K. Adams, because he's not even for you, Mario.
Drew Franklin
I used. She used to be on the Good Morning Football that I watched. I've watched her for years. We'll make it innocent TV talk. And I'll be. By the way, this is my friend Mario.
Matt Jones
Definitely single, so you can use that also. You know, she co hosts in the morning sometimes with DeMarcus cousins. That's right. So we know DeMarcus. So you could. We could. We could drop the. The demarcus angle as well.
Drew Franklin
And then we'll just step out of the way and.
Matt Jones
And then we'll let magic happen. I think she's a little. She's a lot older than you are, though, right? You could. That's okay. You got. You got the game to make it happen.
Drew Franklin
You know, when we walked by her set yesterday, I heard him lean over to Billy. He was like, hey, man, tell me.
Matt Jones
About these digital business cards.
Drew Franklin
I need an end.
Billy
I've been putting myself out there. It's time for Mario to get out there.
Matt Jones
Yeah, you've been putting yourself out there, have you?
Drew Franklin
I just noticed Mario's chain he's got on. Is. Is that a chain wallet with pearls? We can't match his style.
Matt Jones
We're always competing for second with. With Mario, so. Well, a very fun first day. They say today is the best day because tomorrow some of the people are leaving, so they say today is the best day. So, I mean, we don't. We don't do our stuff till later this afternoon. But I may go down there just to feel the vibe. Yeah, just to feel the vibe, because I'm. I'm kind of in a.
Drew Franklin
Bob, we gotta get ready for our Christian Watson interview, too.
Matt Jones
That's exactly right. Now we're Gonna take a break. 859-280-2287. Billy's going to the bathroom to get on the phone. That's never a good sign. This is ksr.
