10 o'. Clock. It was perfect. We were leaving the restaurant right at 10 o' clock last night. Got something all the way home. Got to take.

So what's, what's the update?

[Stockton Mortgage Representative]

Well, they updated us on the. The airport. The El Paso airport. We knew. I knew about the party balloon.

[Matt Jones]

Okay.

[Stockton Mortgage Representative]

But the Nancy Guthrie thing, they found two black gloves like a mile and a half from the house and they think maybe they might be associated with the crime.

[Matt Jones]

Okay, so what does that do for me?

[Stockton Mortgage Representative]

Well, they're just giving you an update. They're asking for all the neighbors from like January on, January 11th on or something to look at the ring cameras if they see anything.

[Matt Jones]

I can't believe they haven't caught this guy. Yeah, I mean it feels like they.

[Stockton Mortgage Representative]

Have or is it a girl?

[Matt Jones]

Okay. I can't believe they've caught this person. I really can't. I mean we have everyone looking for them. You would think like they'd have them and they don't. So kind of a surprise they. 592-802-2287 did you like the Drew the documentary short that came out? CBS has been doing a documentary about UK basketball this year. They've had all access all year and it's going to come out the day between the final four and the national championship. So that Sunday afternoon is when it will come out. Video looked cool.

[Drew]

Didn't enjoyed the clips. Hope that whiteboards. Okay. Yeah, whiteboard.

[Matt Jones]

Show Mark Pope punching the whiteboard which he said he. I think he hurt his wrist on or whatever. Right. Yeah.

[Drew]

Big knock there. I would, I would tell maybe next time find a target behind the whiteboard and punch through it. But still like seeing that fire, I'm really going to enjoy the most the conversations. It looks like, you know, the guys, their apartments are driving around and they're talking through the beginning of the year and how it felt on their end. I'll admit though, it's not lost on me. The only other time we did this was the nit year. So I don't. It's answering some questions from early in the season if we believe in that jinx. But overall I'm excited to watch it.

[Matt Jones]

However, I think they probably decided to do this Ryan because they thought we were going to be really, really good and then we weren't. So do you think it will be more interesting to see us go through the ups and downs or would you like, like do you think it actually, I mean, you know, who were they in the locker room for the Louisville game.

[Stockton Mortgage Representative]

See that? As a fan, I want to see this behind the scenes stuff. What happened at Louisville? What's been happening behind the scenes? Do they really like each other? Do they hang out with each other? I'm hoping they get into some of that. And I think one of the sound bites from Ortega in the. In the trailer, he says something like people saying, we're fighting each other. You know, what are they talking about?

[Drew]

Yeah, he's like, they said I fought somebody in the locker room. You know, he's acting like, what. But that was said quite a bit.

[Matt Jones]

Do we ever. Do we ever have a definitive answer as to what happened in that locker room?

[Drew]

I wonder if who has creative control of this? Like, if UK can't say. I'm sure UK does to agree to it. But it'd be nice if someone that didn't care how it looked, the producers was like, this is exactly what happened right here. And whatever it is, we'll. We'll take it from there.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah. You know. Well, they did one of these before, besides the nit year. So we did it the nit year. Then they did it. Oscar's second year. Do you remember that? Like, they did Oscar second year, and when they lost, when they. They just didn't think it was interesting enough, so they threw it away.

[Drew]

They were sending a crew to Oscar's family and didn't even get there before Kentucky was out of the tournament.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah, that's right. So they. No. Or was it. So it was Oscar's first year. It was the year we lost St. Peter.

[Caller]

Yeah.

[Drew]

Because they were sending a crew all the way to follow his mom and, like, how she's able to watch it.

[Matt Jones]

And they didn't even.

[Drew]

I don't even think they got boots on.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah, they interviewed. They interviewed me six times through the course of that year. And they were doing it about Oscar's year. We lost the same. And then they lost the St. Peter's.

[Drew]

And they're like, well, I think Tata might have had a sick relative that they went out and interviewed too.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah. So that was probably just lost money. Shannon, do you think it's a jinx to do a thing like this?

But I do wonder, though, how much it did have an effect on, like. And somebody brought this up in the pre show, like some of the slow starts that we've seen, you know, with cameras up in your face constantly before the game. I wonder if that had any effect on how they played.

[Drew]

Especially the guys not used to any of this, you know. Some of those guys lived it last year. But if you're brand new to the Kentucky basketball experience and there's a camera crew in the locker room, I could see how that would impact you a little bit. Like a Cam Williams who came from Tulane, and suddenly you have CBS All Access everywhere.

[Matt Jones]

I mean, maybe, but I don't know how that would affect the. On court when the game starts. I mean, the cameras are on you when the game starts to say, the.

[Shannon]

Lead up show ritual, you know, like some of these guys like to be in their zone, but yet you got cameras in your face the entire baby.

[Drew]

And Caleb Williams even said himself it took a while to get comfortable going up a level. I could see why cameras and everyone around you in your face could play a role into maybe getting settled in.

[Matt Jones]

The only thing I can compare it to, Shannon, was when we had those cameras around.

[Shannon]

Oh, yeah.

[Matt Jones]

And it was weird for like a day. But then you get. You. Then you almost kind of forget.

[Shannon]

But you would tell people, hey, act naturally. But then people just. They can't because you got a camera in your face.

[Matt Jones]

It's hard. At least for me. I got over that pretty quick. I was like that at first. But you kind of get over it, in my opinion, pretty quick because, like, you forget they're there.

[Shannon]

But I'm watching everybody else, obviously, just like, you know, acting differently than there were people that.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah, you definitely could see. There were people who turned on an act when the camera was on.

[Stockton Mortgage Representative]

So you think you'd be able to tell, is, is Pope acting or is he really mad?

[Matt Jones]

Hope's not acting.

[Drew]

Hope wouldn't be acting.

[Matt Jones]

Pope wouldn't be acting. I think Pope would. It'll be interesting to see. I would love to see if we can actually learn a little bit about what happened.

Absolutely.

[Matt Jones]

In some of these things.

Yes.

[Matt Jones]

But I also kind of think maybe.

[Drew]

We won't also want to finish strong so we can enjoy it. I mean, if we fizzle out and have a bad tournament loss, it obviously won't be nearly as exciting to follow the journey I really want to finish this year.

[Stockton Mortgage Representative]

One player they followed for once was a Brandon Boston they were following.

[Drew]

Yeah, that was his own thing, though.

[Stockton Mortgage Representative]

Would that ever come out?

[Drew]

No, it could have on his personal. That was like a him and his buddy situation.

[Matt Jones]

The Big 12 is going to play their Big 12 tournament on a glass floor. Remember the glass floor that we had for. For Big Blue Madness? They're going to do that for the Big 12 tournament. So to make it more exciting, they're going to have the. So they can put the graphics of the teams, and they're going to make it a whole thing. I like this a lot. Assuming nobody gets hurt. I like it a lot because the conference tournaments for major conferences, people can kind of think they don't mean anything. They mean something to me. But for a lot of people, I think it's a cool thing to do and it'll make me maybe a little more likely to watch it. Do you like the Big 12 glass floor?

[Stockton Mortgage Representative]

I guess there's no risk involved or they wouldn't do it. But it seems like playing on a glass floor, you're taking a risk with an ankle or a knee or something, slipping and falling.

[Matt Jones]

I guess as long as they tell me it's safe, which I would think they would not do it if it wasn't safe.

[Shannon]

What they're telling me is that their conference tournament is boring, so we got to figure out a gimmick to make people watch.

[Matt Jones]

I do think, though, conference tournaments can be boring on, you know, I mean, if Duke plays Carolina, we care about the Kentucky games, but, I mean, does anyone get excited about the Big 12 Conference tournament? And the thing is, the Big 12 is probably the best conference this year, Scott. Kansas got Arizona, Texas Tech, Iowa State. I can see why you would say, okay, we're boring.

[Shannon]

We need a glass floor. That's what they're saying. We're boring.

[Matt Jones]

Maybe, but it let's. But let's say they do. I mean, like, maybe you're saying that, but then you're trying to remedy it, right?

[Drew]

I'm excited to see it. I have two concerns. One is I want to hear a player talk about not just injuries, like, are there dead spots? Like, you're just dribbling on something completely different than hardwood that you've dribbled your whole life. I wonder as a player, if it just feels different, affects the actual, like, game flow. And then my biggest concern, and I know we're heading this way, they're gonna put so many logos on that thing for basketball game. I mean, they're gonna sell every spot on that they can.

[Matt Jones]

That's a good point. Yeah, I hadn't thought about that.

[Drew]

But I still afford it. I think it's better off for stuff like Madness, where you can do, like a shooting contest where spots pop up and flames and all the graphics, and you can't really do that in a live game.

[Matt Jones]

Well, we'll see. I. I like the idea of trying to make something cool in a com, and I think a conference tournament is an Interesting way to start it. It's a major one because like I said, chances are very low that somebody's gonna be playing to go to the tournament. Maybe, but. But it's unlikely.

[Drew]

Someone at Rupp told me when they were installing the one for Madness, they dropped one of the panels and broke it. And that did not go over well with the LED people. Like they have extras like, hey, let's, let's be careful with our glass panels.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah, I saw that. I'm, I'm thinking about next Friday night going to the Miami of Ohio game if they are still undefeated. So we'll see what happens. But yeah, they are on ESPN tomorrow, tomorrow night. So they're being undefeated at. The world will get to see them.

But then the following week they go to UMass for probably their toughest game.

Yeah.

Very sad, though, in a reminder. Because he had colon cancer, right? A reminder to get the colonoscopy. Which you just did two weeks ago. Which you just did a couple weeks ago. Because that's really sad. And he was, you know, he was, I think, 45 when he was. When he was diagnosed with it.

I didn't know him. I didn't watch the movie. But it is just sad. In time, a young person dies. Way too young. So I hated to hear that.

They use him for the graphic. That's when you know your big deal and they're putting you as the face.

Do you think this fan base. I feel like this fan base follows baseball quite a bit more. I mean, we have two writers now covering it for a ksr. Are you excited about the season?

I am. I mean, they're coming off the, you know, the first ever trip to the College World Series. They're making the a deep run in the NCAA tournament year after year after year. You have to be excited about, especially when you talked about, like you said, this rotation supposed to be one of the best in the sec, their weekend rotation. So good luck to them.

They're going to be paying, playing the scrappy stuff that their weakness is they worry if they have enough hitting. So they're going to be doing all the stuff they used to do.

[Drew]

That's all right. I think they're gonna have a good year. I've really gotten into them the last couple seasons.

I feel like it's a little early, like it snuck up on everyone and I hate that it's not even on TV this weekend. But once they get a little farther in the year and have these home games in Lexington with some good weather, you'll see out there a lot.

But I think those three guys, with the exception of maybe Duke because they've got so many people coming in, I think everybody would want those three guys.

I like Cam Williams. Hope we keep him. But if there's a star out there that I think you throw them a bag, I mean, we still haven't seen Cam Williams potential. Maybe he never hits it.
