One of the biggest misconceptions about buying a home right now is that you have to wait for the perfect moment. Perfect rates, perfect timing, perfect market. The truth is, that moment doesn't really exist. A lot of buyers pause because of headlines or assumptions, but every situation is different. Race change, market shift and personal goals matter just as much as what's happening nationally. That's why talking with a local lender can be so valuable. When you contact Stockton Mortgage, you get paired up with a local lender. That lender will give you your options. That lender will explain the situation. You can ask your own questions. That's what it's all about. Getting to the closing table at as simple and easy as possible. Our friends at Stockton Mortgage focus on helping people understand their options. Whether you're ready to buy now, later, or just starting to ask questions, there's no pressure to make a decision, just a chance to get real information and a clearer picture of what's possible. Sometimes the smartest move isn't waiting, it's getting informed. Visit Stockton.com today to learn more about your options. NMLS8259EqualHousingLender NMLSConsumerAccess.org.

Welcome to hour two of Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.
Matt Jones
Welcome back. Hour number two, Kenny Sports Radio, 859-280-2287. One person writes on the text machine. Matt, you're on. The best home whistle is not Kansas on Monday night. It's Clay county on Friday night. You never get a call in that bill.
Ryan
Fair, fair argument, I think.
Matt Jones
See that Clay county on Friday night probably is a good one. One person, another one writes, Matt, you missed a good Ryanism. He said people are human sometimes. What about the rest of the time?
Ryan
You're an alien.
Matt Jones
It's true, Drew. That is a rhinism. People are human sometimes.
Drew
People are humans sometimes.
Matt Jones
Put it on shirts.
Shannon
Put on a T shirt.
Ryan
Beautiful.
Matt Jones
It's a good sentiment. People are human sometimes. Sometimes. Apparently, the guy that said that Tyron Stokes might be leaning back to Kentucky, he denies he said that. He said that was not what the article said. So there you go. That's over.
Ryan
There was a time I think Kentucky was leading. I think for him. I think he really wanted to come.
Matt Jones
Without question. I think that was true. And then, I mean, him, him kind of flipping is what led to the whole conversation about recruiting and JMI and Pope and all that. So. So. And that'll come back up whenever he makes his decision and we'll see what that is. All right. A couple stats. This comes from worldwide. Todd Harris. These are, these are interesting stats. Kentucky last year led the SEC and stolen bases with 133 for the year. They had 23 in their first three games. If they were to keep on this patient. And they would steal 437.
Ryan
Oh, my goodness.
Matt Jones
Which would be 300 more stolen bases than what they did last year when they led the league.
Shannon
I think we should run.
Ryan
I do, too.
Matt Jones
Well, Ryan's been saying that for a long time.
Ryan
For years.
Drew
That's right.
Shannon
I've even seen the picture on online. Somebody here put a picture of Ryan beating a drum saying, still more bases.
Matt Jones
Drew to the game. You mentioned 2016. That's the euless Murray team. We lost it. Allen Field house. Kansas shot 47 free throws. They had 31 free throws in the last nine and a half minutes of the second half, plus overtime. 30, 40, or excuse me, 31. We were called for 33 fouls. Kansas would call for 20, Kansas one. Even though they only made four shots in the last 15 minutes of the game.
Drew
Yep, Todd sent me that, too. I actually was at that game with Todd, and I knew there had been something, but in the moment, I couldn't place that. But yeah, I remember it well now. It was just foul after foul after foul given Kansas points late in that game.
Matt Jones
Yeah. All right, so let. So now we got to talk about this. As soon as I saw this, I knew Shannon would be, like, eager, and I want to give him his. His chance. So. So, you know, I think I said to you once, if you wanted to convince me that aliens exist, there would be like three or four people. I would believe it would basically be presidents not named Donald Trump. Right. If one of the Bushes or Obama maybe in his prime. Joe Biden, I guess Reagan's dead, so I couldn't. Well, older Bush is dead too. Right. So we're. So we're down to like, I mean, who are the living presidents right now? Bush, Obama, Biden, Trump, Clinton, Clinton and Clinton. So I would. I would do. Because I feel like they would know, and if they ever said it, I would at least give it credibility. So Obama's on a podcast, and this is what he said. Couple questions here. Are aliens real? They're real, but I haven't seen them. And they're not being kept in. What is it?
Ryan
Area 51.
Matt Jones
Area 51. There's no underground facility. Unless there's this enormous conspiracy and they hid it from the President of the United States. What was the first question you wanted answered when you became president? Okay, so here's my thing. Shannon, stop right there.
Shannon
He wants to know where the aliens are.
Matt Jones
Here's my thing. When he starts that sentence with their. How does my man not follow up?
Drew
Yeah, horrible interview. He moved on to the next topic.
Matt Jones
He's like, how's she moved to the next topic? I mean, like, if you're at all a reporter. When my man starts to sense with their real. But I haven't seen them, aren't you gonna ask what do you mean by their real? Right. Like, aren't you gonna ask that?
Shannon
Yeah. And how are you just gonna say they're real and not. Not explain Drew.
Matt Jones
He doesn't follow up.
Drew
What an opportunity.
Matt Jones
Follow up.
Drew
You have a president not denying aliens, and you're like, oh, cool, what's your favorite restaurant? Washington, D.C. he just completely moved on. Not like, well, why do you think they're real?
Matt Jones
That might be the worst interview I've ever heard. You have the former president saying, yes, they're real. And you don't follow up now the next day. So for 24 hours, I'm like, I'm gonna have to go on the radio Tuesday and say, aliens are real.
Shannon
Yeah, apologize to me and Drew.
Matt Jones
I was going to. I felt like I was gonna have to apologize to Shannon. But then at the All Star game, he's there. They asked him and he said, what I mean is, I believe it sounded like what I've said on this show. There's likely somewhere in the expanse life, but nothing has ever come here. And we know of nothing that's come here, which has always kind of been my position. What are you laughing?
Shannon
Sounds like somebody backtracking to me. He said yes. They go, oh, I wasn't supposed to say, oh, yeah. Yes, the real.
Matt Jones
But then why would he say yes to begin with?
Shannon
Because I think he was.
Matt Jones
Why would he say yes? You think he's telling the truth? Because he's agreeing with you.
Shannon
He's going, yeah, yeah, they're real. I mean, I've never seen them, but yeah, they're real. He's trying to cover his tracks, it sounds like to me.
Matt Jones
See, but that's the thing. You're gonna believe whatever, and so are you. Okay, yeah, but I'm right, and that's the problem.
Shannon
We don't know who's right.
Matt Jones
Well, his second position is the one I've always had, which is, you know, there's this massive galaxies and universes. I'm sure somewhere there is life.
Shannon
So lead with that. Don't lead with, yes, they're real.
Matt Jones
I could have agree. Terrible answer. Terrible answer by Obama, but egregious. Ryan, you're a reporter at heart. Egregious lack of a follow up by whoever did that interview right after Barack said that.
Ryan
Everything else goes down the toilet that you focus on that. You just said, what? What did you just say? There's aliens. What do you. What do you mean there's aliens? That's what you got to go for.
Matt Jones
I don't understand how you don't follow up, Drew. I'm still mad at that guy who did the interview, who was it? They had to be big enough to.
Drew
Get Obama to do an interview for a school project.
Matt Jones
I. It is infuriating that you have a former president there, Shannon, and he says, there are aliens, and you're just like, so, man, what else is going on?
Shannon
He goes on to like, what's the first question you want an answer? And he doubled back with, where are the aliens? Another opportunity for you to stick on the alien subject and not move from that.
Ryan
He had his questions on a piece of PA and he was following the questions in order right down his paper.
Matt Jones
How did that guy get an interview? Can you. Whatever show he's on needs to end.
Shannon
Cancel it.
Matt Jones
Cancel it. Yeah.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
That's the worst interview that has ever existed. And I. I was mad about it.
Shannon
He admitted it.
Ryan
He said, you gotta press him to, like, what are you talking about? There's aliens.
Matt Jones
Where?
Ryan
Give us some. What are you talking about?
Drew
Obama probably even thought, oh, here we go, and then was ready. And it was like, oh, he doesn't.
Matt Jones
Want to talk about that. Thank you.
Shannon
Have you felt like I was definitive? He said, yes, there's aliens. That's it.
Matt Jones
Shut up. He clearly did not mean.
Shannon
Oh, he didn't mean it when he said, no.
Matt Jones
I will say this, though. That is if for your side. That's one of the strongest pieces of evidence I've seen. But I will. But unfortunately, you should be madder at that journalist than anybody because you had a chance to have a lot of checks on your side.
Shannon
Well, he'll do another podcast. Why don't. I mean that guy's podcast. He could do your podcast.
Matt Jones
Why does it. Why didn't come uninterrupted? That's what I want to know. All right. Robert Duvall died. Ryan.
Ryan
Yes.
Matt Jones
Robert Duvall, one of the best actors of all time. I mean, his career is amazing. And what's interesting about his career is he really didn't get big until he was, like, in his 40s. You know, a lot of actors get started very young. The Godfather, I believe, was one of his first big roles. And then, you know, just think about all the things he's been in over the years. When I put my post up about him, I was amazed at how many movies that, like, are secondary to me that people loved, including a couple I had not even heard of. But he was. Everybody knows him for the Godfather. That's kind of the thing. But he was also in Apocalypse Now, Lonesome Dove.
Ryan
Yeah, very good.
Matt Jones
And Lonesome Days of Thunder, right where he's the crew chief for me, his best movie, and I think one of the best underrated movies of all time is the movie the Apostle, which I think is the only movie I have ever seen in my life that gets evangelical. Like Southern Christians, like Christianity. Right. Okay. I think it is amazing. And his performance as a guy who's like, kind of torn between good and bad and has both in him, I think is unbelievable. And it's. You know, people treat evangelical Southern Christians with such disdain in terms of how they're portrayed. They always portray the negative. That's a movie that, I don't know. Maybe because he was part of it, because he wrote it and directed it. He did such a good job, and I highly recommend it. It's one of my. It's one of, I think, the best movies that I've ever seen. And his performance is one of the best. He was nominated for an Oscar for it. But he's in all these things. I mean, do you all have other ones besides the ones I just mentioned?
Ryan
He's in the Natural. He's like. He steals the whole film in the Natural. He's like the reporter following Robert Redford around.
Matt Jones
He steals the film as a reporter. That sounds like somebody who prefers journalism.
Ryan
True.
Matt Jones
He thinks the reporters. I felt like the Naturals favorite famous scene was when he knocked the lights out, right?
Ryan
Yeah, that was the famous scene. But. But as far as the acting goes, Duvall's the best one in there.
Matt Jones
Okay. Anything else? Do you guys remember?
Shannon
I think I'm just going through his.
Drew
Now comes to mind for me. But he's also. Is a smaller role, but I love the movie. Thank you for smoking. I don't even know if that many people like, thank you for smoking, but he's in that. Got a big old mustache.
Shannon
He's in Sling Blade.
Matt Jones
Who is he in Slings?
Drew
Yeah.
Shannon
This is Carl's dad. I'm just going through his Wikipedia.
Matt Jones
Is that right? He's in Sling Blade. I didn't remember that.
Shannon
Days of Thunder. We mentioned that one. Right.
Matt Jones
A lot of people mentioned a movie that I've never heard of. Like. Like seven people mentioned Secondhand Lions. Does anybody know that? Never heard.
Drew
I'm familiar with it, but I haven't seen it.
Matt Jones
I was surprised how many people put that down.
Shannon
He's in Four Christmases.
Drew
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Four Christmases.
Shannon
Yeah. You never seen that with Vince Vaughn?
Ryan
I've seen it.
Matt Jones
No, I have. I wouldn't have thought. I'm just apparently. Is he in Kicking and Screaming with Will Ferrell?
Drew
Yeah, yeah.
Shannon
Crazy Heart with Jeff Bridges.
Matt Jones
Now, Crazy Hearts, Another great movie. Yeah, that's about like a down and out country singer. Well, and he won an Oscar for playing like a down and out country singer. I think it's called like Tender Mercies. Is that on the list? I think he. I think that's the only Oscar he ever won was for. I think it's called Tender Mercies. Is that on the list?
Shannon
There's a lot on this list. Gone in 60 seconds.
Matt Jones
He's got in 60 seconds.
Shannon
What a career.
Matt Jones
Well, anyway. What a career. 95 years old.
Ryan
95.
Matt Jones
He had a good run, so rest in peace. You know, they say things come in threes. Jesse and Duvall. What's gonna be the third? You know, you got like. They say it's like in 72 hours, so it'll be today.
Shannon
Wasn't there another one that. Wasn't there already a third or.
Drew
No.
Shannon
So there's another actor that died.
Matt Jones
Well, Jesse Jackson.
Shannon
Another actor that died.
Matt Jones
Yeah. I can't remember. Maybe. All right, who's up next?
Shannon
All right, let's go to Nick.
Matt Jones
Nick, go ahead, Nick.
Caller / Listener
Oh, guys, you haven't seen Secondhand Lions. That is.
Matt Jones
No. What is it? I. I've honestly never seen it. What is it? Because people keep saying it's great.
Caller / Listener
Yeah, it's got Josh Lucas.
Ryan
I think it's.
Caller / Listener
Who's the kid? What's his name? Michael. Yeah, Michael. It's. It's great. So it's just a film about a kid who goes to live on a farm with the. The main guy. These two old guys, Michael Caine and. And Duval, and they're just too crotchety old.
Matt Jones
The old man movies. I think those are good. Well, I'll check it out.
Caller / Listener
It's good because it's good. It's good. Yeah, it's. It's 2003. I'm 32. I watched as a kid. Really quick to the aliens, man.
Matt Jones
I'm.
Caller / Listener
I'm a little worried the aliens have kidnapped all the recruits because.
Matt Jones
I'm a little bit.
Caller / Listener
So I'm just gonna say one thing. I don't know anything about the recruiting. I know we got some Europe guys in the pipe. Maybe we have got to keep Jasper Johnson. I don't know where we're at with this. That kid has such a high upside. He's a Lexington kid. Like, BBN wants this kid here. And I just. I don't know what's going on, if he's going to stick around next year, but we got to make that a priority because I think he could be huge for us next year in year two if he puts some muscle on and keeps playing like he's playing offensively. Got to figure out the defense, but let's keep that kid.
Matt Jones
I appreciate the call. I actually would like to have that conversation because I think Ryan, this needs to be. We give Ryan a hard time, but Ryan sometimes has pulpit stances, Drew, where he feels passion. And I think. I think Ryan's pretty passionate about Jasper Johnson. Am I right about that?
Drew
Ryan trying to. I'm trying to look in his eyes and see if there's anything there.
Matt Jones
Passionate about Jasper Johnson. I want to make that a pulpit stance like you did. Stolen bases. That really changed the face of UK baseball.
Ryan
I don't know if we're ready for it now, but it's a conversation we definitely need to have because that caller is exactly right.
Matt Jones
I think you can't have it right now, but after the break, after I do this, Clark's Pump and Shop ready?
Ryan
Whatever you want, sir.
Matt Jones
All right. I need the passion from you because I know you feel strongly about this.
Ryan
I do feel strongly about this. I'm afraid I can say I'm not supposed to.
Matt Jones
Oh, that's even better. When he feels like he's so passionate. He says that. Well. Well, actually, we'll see. You think about it during the break.
Ryan
Okay.
Matt Jones
You need a couple minutes to warm your brain up.
Ryan
Okay, gotcha.

It is the. Well, it's KSR. I keep wanting to say it's a. It's a post game show because people keep writing about the post game show. Boo Radley. He also played Boo Radley in To Kill a Mockingbird. Did you?
Ryan
Yeah. Yoga girl sent me about three texts in a Row. You guys have not mentioned To Kill a Mockingbird.
Matt Jones
Yeah it was. That's a great film. So I don't know how I forgot that. Okay. One person writes Matt, I'm having Clark's Pump and Shop chicken right now. If you don't know they have the best chicken around that's good.
Drew
That's fact. I can bet I can support that claim.
Matt Jones
You can.
Drew
Good breakfast too.
Ryan
Good breakfast sandwiches.
Drew
Yeah.
Matt Jones
By the way tonight the pregame show starts at 6:30 live at KS Bar. Come on out get your see the show and enjoy the wings, the burgers and just overall we've had great experiences and vibes at the bar for these games lately in the pre games and if you can just feel. We can feel the energy. Ryan about how the team's doing by the bar both during the games and pre games and and I think it'll be great tonight as well. Pregame show starts at 6:30 for the 9:00'. Clock.
Ryan
Darius Miller. Darius Miller's joining us tonight.
Matt Jones
Darius Miller is joining us tonight so if you ever wanted to meet Darius Miller this is a good day. He will be co hosting the pregame show tonight so that should be great. Okay. You said a guy asked about Jasper Johnson made a couple three against Florida. You I think are very passionate on the topic about whether or not Jasper about Jasper's future at Kentucky.
Ryan
I think it's safe to say things have not gone the way the Johnson family thought it would for Jasper this year and I think there's been some frustration but I'll give Jasper credit. He's not shown one sense of frustration when he gets his number called he goes out there bust his ass. He's diving on the floor. His assist per minute played is off the chart. Hit it like you said hit a couple big shots but you know it took a last second hail Mary last time from a booster to get him to come here last year. There's going to be teams coming after that kid. That kid I agree with the caller said could be a superstar in the making and Kentucky should do everything they can to keep him.
Matt Jones
Do you want to expand on the it took a last second thing for a booster. I mean he committed very early to Kentucky.
Ryan
Yeah. Other teams were still recruiting him and I won't, I don't think I need to go into it but I think it is, that's a good best way to put it. Took a last second hell Mary from a booster.
Shannon
I think you need to go way more into it.
Matt Jones
No scoop. I mean I hear Mario laughing in the background. He wants you. Yeah. Play that one more time. Get. Because that gets his blood going.
Drew
Yeah, it does. Here we go.
Matt Jones
Okay. There you go. I know you've been. You've been hesitant with Scoop since you got burned by Lamar Wilkerson, but it's been almost a full year.
Ryan
Well, there. There's. There's no Scoop at this moment. I kind of said would, you know, just kind of the facts. I know it. And there's just things, you know, that no need to go on the airwaves right now, I think. So we'll just put in our back pocket.
Shannon
Why are you under the table right now? Get out from underneath there, man.
Ryan
I tell you what, it's going to get a nasty weather system moving in on Thursday. Did you see that? Ryan Hall. Y' all's already calling it on Thursday. What is going on?
Matt Jones
You know, this may be like with Obama and the aliens. I tried to follow up.
Shannon
Yeah, he's scared.
Matt Jones
I think he. I think he let something slip and now he doesn't want to. All right, whatever you want. So do you. Do you think he. Do you think that UK will do what is necessary to get him back? You definitely want him back, right?
Ryan
I think Kentucky wants him back, but they've not shown. They'll go all out to get anybody, it seems like. You know, they don't want to feel like they have to get out, outbid somebody to get a player they want a player to be because they want to be here. Well, that's not the world we live in anymore, I feel like.
Matt Jones
Yeah, well, we do. We have outbid for some people. But, you know, the guys on Field of 68, their thing was they bid too high for some people and too low for others. They don't understand the market. And we still haven't hired a gm. And, you know, I mean, this is the, like, April, March, April and May is when your GM would go to work. So if they don't hire him by now, you got to think. I mean, it doesn't do you any good to hire him in June. Right?
Drew
Yeah, there's enough out there that we already know. We know we overpaid for Aberdeen. I mean, it's all been been said as fact from all parties involved.
Matt Jones
And even though he's played better recently, it's just a fact.
Drew
Yeah, yeah, that's the fact that we overpaid what his market value was. I'm not saying it disliked the guy or whatever, but that happened. And we also PA a lot of money for a guy who's going to leave here having played like 24 total minutes. So it's not a big secret that the money management in the roster building wasn't the best on. On Jasper Johnson. I'm kind of conflicted. I love Jasper. I don't know Dennis well, but anytime I see him, say hi, nice guy. But I would completely understand. I mean, he was probably not going to come here until an offer came in to help out. And I don't know what Mark Pope told the family, but I can promise you it was better than one sec game in double figures or whatever he has here. That's a kid that was pretty highly ranked, thought he'd have the ball more than he would. So whatever Pope told them, I don't need to talk to Dennis to know that it's not lining up because we have not seen half of what we thought we'd get out of Jasper. And it's not just him not stepping up. I think the opportunities haven't even been there as much they should, too. He could be better. But whatever Pope told him, he. I don't think he lived up to his end either.
Matt Jones
Yeah, but I don't think you can go promising people playing time. I think you got to play the guys.
Drew
But if you promised him that to get him here and then didn't do it, I would not be shocked if he went somewhere else. You failed him once.
Matt Jones
If he did that, I would say Pope shouldn't be doing. I mean, and I don't know if he did it or not, but, like, you can't be. That's one. You know, Cal was great about that. You don't promise people playing. Although Cal says he didn't promise people playing time. There's no reason why we would have played some of those guys the Reed Rob year unless you promise people.
Ryan
I think that the rise of Aberdeen is kind of hurt Jasper minutes also.
Matt Jones
You know, Aberdeen's been good. You listen, we. This is Kentucky. It's not for funsies. You got to play the best dudes. And if guys end up sitting the bench, then that's the way it goes. And that's. I'm very firm in that belief. But at the same time, you got to make sure you have dudes. Although there was a coach that said you got to have dudes, and now he doesn't have dudes. Because.
Ryan
True.
Drew
He doesn't have a job to have dudes.
Matt Jones
He doesn't have a job. He doesn't have dudes. He doesn't have anything. He's about to have a Lawsuit. So that's a different conversation. All right. 85928. Oh. James Vanderbeek also died. Shannon. So maybe that's the third.
Shannon
Yeah, that was the guy I was trying to think.
Matt Jones
Jesse was the third.
Shannon
Yep.
Matt Jones
Right.
Shannon
Yep.
Matt Jones
All right, we'll take a break. Be right back. Ksr. TJ Smith, personal injury attorney.

Shannon
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Matt Jones
So, Shannon, this is Robert Duvall. This is that crazy heart movie you mentioned, right?
Shannon
Yep.
Matt Jones
This is a great movie.
Shannon
I love it. Love this movie.
Ryan
This is him singing it. This.
Shannon
Jeff Bridges and Colin Farrell.
Matt Jones
This is Jeff Bridges and Colin Farrell. Okay. And, like, they're good. I think this is legitimately a good song. Funny how fallen feels like flying for a little while, which is, first of all, a great lyric. Shannon, don't you agree? Yeah. Funny how fallen feels like flying for a little while. But Jeff Bridges and Colin Farrell can sing like they're. The premise of the movie is Jefferson, old country singer who kind of mentors Colin Farrell. And then he gets bigger than Jeff Bridges.
Shannon
That's right. Yeah. Then Jeff Bridges is opening for him.
Matt Jones
And then Jeff Bridges is opening for him.
Ryan
Yep.
Matt Jones
And their relationship is part of the movie. But, like, the fact that Colin Farrell, an Irish dude, plays a country singer and is good.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And Robert Duvall is like the. Is he Jeff Bridges, manager? Is that who he plays?
Shannon
I think so.
Drew
Yeah.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
It's a great movie, Ryan, if you haven't seen it. I think it's. I think Jeff Bridges won an Oscar for this, too, by the way.
Ryan
Sounds awesome. I've not heard of it.
Shannon
You never heard of this?
Ryan
No.
Matt Jones
I mean, the whole soundtrack is really good. They mix in real country singers, but Jeff Bridges sings a lot of the songs.
Shannon
It's just funny. You know, some people like their. Their singing voice doesn't sound like they're speaking voice, but Jeff Bridges. You can tell that's Jeff Bridges singing. It sounds like a speaking voice.
Matt Jones
It sound. Sounds like it does, doesn't it? Yeah, I'm a. Doesn't that sound like it does? It sounds like that could be in the Big Lebowski, Right? Colin Farrell, now, he sounds different when he's singing it, but I'm gonna listen to that soundtrack today. I'd forgotten how much I liked it. One person writes, matt, it sounds like you want to give the counter view to Ryan on Jasper Johnson. What is that? Well, I don't want to be. First of all, I don't Want to be counter to any kid, especially a Kentucky kid, especially Kentucky kid that seems like a really nice kid and that I really like his family. But I'm a big believer and I've been this believer for a long time and I maybe paused my opinion on this a little bit because I do love having kids from Kentucky. I love the fact that Malachi and Jasper and Trent Noah contribute and are all from Kentucky. That really makes me really happy. I liked having Travis on the team. So. So. And Darius Miller's going to host a pregame show. I love that he was from Kentucky. Like I love all that. With that said, I have a stance that has been my stance and you've heard it a million times. And my stance has always been you do not play kids or recruit kids just cause they're from Kentucky. If the, if it's a tie game, the tie goes to Kentucky. But you don't just pick people from Kentucky because they're from Kentucky. Including former players as coaches, I think Mark has done a good job. I hope he does a great job. But you know, you have to make sure you get the right guy. And in the Kentucky parts of bonus, Jasper has played, in my opinion, the amount of minutes he should play, he is. He can shoot and I love how he can shoot. He hit two big shots at Florida. He also. Ryan was minus 18 in the game at Florida. All right. His plus minus was minus 18. It was the worst. It was worst on the team. He cannot guard. He cannot guard. He's. It's not even so much on his man. He loses his man. Like if you watch plays. A Pope kind of hinted at this after the game. I mean, he didn't call him out, but I think he was talking about him. If you watch plays, he just loses his man and it leads to breakdowns. And Garrison is the same way. They're the two worst offenders for it and you know, it is what it is. So he has a huge offensive upside and I'd. I'd be great having him come back. But I do not believe Ryan. He's playing too little. I think he's playing the right amount because he scores. But he gives up just as much as he scores, if not more.
Ryan
I really thought his minutes would probably go up. When Jalen Lowe went out, I thought they're going to split that, that those minutes at point guard. But Aberdeen has played so well. You know, when Jasper comes in, you know, he's not afraid to get that shot up. I like that about him.
Matt Jones
I'm good with that.
Ryan
I'm good, too.
Matt Jones
I have no problem with him shooting those threes for the most part.
Ryan
But.
Matt Jones
You got to guard the other side, you know.
Ryan
So if we're talking next year, there's no doubt they're going to bring in another elite point guard. Especially if Low leaves, they're going to go out and bring somebody in. So do you want to keep.
Matt Jones
I think that the. Well, I think in a perfect world, if you asked what they wanted to have happen when they recruited these guys, they wanted Jalen Lowe to be here two years and they wanted to have a system where maybe Jalen and Jasper could work together and they'd have two guys who could both shoot and play off the. But I don't know if that's going to work. So, you know, if they bring in another point guard, I would understand why Drew, he might decide to go somewhere else. It's not a knock on the kid. I think he can be great, but if he doesn't improve defensively, I don't think you can play him in these SEC games.
Drew
Well, one, I hope they bring in a different point guard. I will actually be upset if we don't go shopping for a point guard. Maybe you strike out, you end up with Low and Johnson. We'll worry about that. But I don't think you can go into next year with a guy coming off a shoulder injury and a freshman that barely plays as your backcourt. But with Jasper, I would love to have him back, but I. If teams want to get in a bidding war, I don't think you can overpay him because he's from Kentucky. You pay him to be a backup guard that you hope takes a big jump. But if you. If Alabama gets back in the picture and they're throwing him a big bag, I think you need to be ready to say we can't match that. If he gets into a bidding war, I'd love to have him, but he needs to come at the price that he is, not just because he's a local kid.
Matt Jones
At various points this year, I've been frustrated with the way we've managed the lineup last five or six games. In my opinion, Ryan, we're playing the right guys the right amount of minutes.
Ryan
They figured it out finally, didn't they?
Matt Jones
I think they kind of are. And, you know, you had like. Like last game, Garrison played maybe more, but that's because Malachi was in foul trouble.
Ryan
Yeah.
Matt Jones
So, I mean, I think. I think they're kind of playing like you. You have to have away Aberdeen and chandler out there. 30 plus minutes a game, all three of them. We have to. We don't really have a choice whether. Whether that's good or not. I don't think there's a choice. Those are the only dudes that keep it consistently flowing. Who's next?
Shannon
Roscoe.
Matt Jones
Roscoe. Go ahead, Roscoe.
Caller / Listener
Good afternoon, fellas. Enjoying the topic today? I. I had a couple additions to Robert Duvall movies that you hadn't mentioned. I don't think. One, you played a country singer called Tender Mercies. Okay. And the other one, I don't know if you did this or not. It was like a B film I found on hbo. A great Santini.
Matt Jones
Heard of it? Never seen it, but heard of it? Yeah, I've never seen it.
Caller / Listener
You need to take the time. He's a washed up air airplane fighter from Vietnam and he's trying to settle back down and they're wanting him to retire and he just. He. He's not. Not having it that way. He's kind of a bully. It's a great movie. One other thing, I thought the third official. I thought the third official in the Florida game was Owen Short.
Matt Jones
It may be right. You may be right. I think. I thought there was a dude named Jones, but either way, there's a guy. There's a guy who. I recognize his face. And it. He drives me crazy when he's on our games. And he was on that. He was on that one.
Caller / Listener
We're heading down to Lexington right now. We're gonna. We got tickets for the game tonight against Arkansas. Your thoughts on who's gonna win? Excuse me, I'm sorry, Georgia.
Matt Jones
Yeah, we're gonna win. I mean, I appreciate the call. I think we're gonna win tonight. We'll. We'll do the predictions here in a minute. Also, Shannon, we're talking. We talked about the movie the Apostle. He sings Robert Duvall on that movie as well.
Shannon
Oh, does he? Okay.
Matt Jones
All right. He sings these, like, gospel songs on that movie, and it's really good. I don't know if those. If that's online, but if it is, I think he sings. I think he sings a song with like, Patty Loveless and it's like old. No, Emmy Lou Harris. I love to tell the story, which is a hymn. If you find that, then you have to. You know, there are not many shows that'll play Bad Bunny one day, and I love to tell the story the next day. Yeah, but that's. I love that hymn. And he sings, I think with it. He sings with Emmy Lou Harris. If you can find that for the next break. That would be good. Who's next?
Shannon
Steve.
Matt Jones
Steve. Go ahead, Steve.
Caller / Listener
Hey, guys, what's up? You guys doing today?
Matt Jones
Doing good.
Caller / Listener
Hey, going back to. Going back to what you were saying about Jasper Johnson and Garden. That took me back to the late 60s, and there was a kid in Eastern Kentucky that was averaging about 50 points a game and pressure was on rep to sign this guy. And Rupp's comment was if he scores 50, but the guy, he's. Garden scores 70, we haven't gained anything.
Matt Jones
Yeah. And that can happen. And I think Jasper can play defense. I just don't think he does right now. Maybe because I don't know. And I don't know him well enough to know. I just. If you. If you were to go back and watch the Florida game and watch. He just loses his man a lot. And when. When Garrison. Garrison gets picked on even more than Jasper, but Jasper does, too. When they come in the game, the other teams pick on them. You can watch it happen every time they get in.
Caller / Listener
Yeah. And as far as roster next year, I think we got to build around Marino and Jasper and we got to have a. We got to have a solid point guard. I mean, physically solid. I don't think Lowe's going to fit that deal.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I mean, listen, I appreciate the call. I'm not going to fight to keep low, although I think I would. I like low a lot. I think you also have to be careful. I mean, Lamont Butler was as physically solid as anybody we've ever had play point guard. And guess what, Ryan, he got hurt the same injury. Jaylen Logan. Right. You know, it's a freak injury. What point guard we had that had a bigger build than Lamont Butler and he got the same injury. Jalen Loaded.
Ryan
Well, there are. There's not many. Too many stockings.
Matt Jones
Are you still there? You see that?
Ryan
I'm thinking Anthony. Anthony Epps, maybe.
Matt Jones
Well, yes, yes. He. He. But I'm just saying to you, like those, that injury is a freak injury that Low got. Now, he may not be the right point guard. We'll. We'll see. But I don't think it's cause of that injury, Drew. I mean, that injury was just a freak incident.
Drew
You know, I agree. It's a freak incident. I just. And I said this last week, when you go to the Portal, I take emotions out and I want the best player at every position, or at least I try. You're clearly not gonna go five for five. You got to retain guys. But I put emotions and you were here last year's side. If there's dudes that were, you know, first team all conference, they're wanting to be on the move. I say Jill in low. Love you. I'm calling him and we'll figure it out.

Welcome back, techie sports radio. So this is from that movie, right? Shannon, this is Jeff Bridges. Emmy Lou Harris. Emmy Lou Harris has one of the best voices ever. I'm gonna get that. This is one of my mom's favorite songs. So, Ryan, I'm gonna give it like 15 seconds of silence. You should go for it. It's a great song. Takes me Back to Sneadville, Tennessee with my family in Hancock County. 859280, 2287 Text Machine. 772-774-5254. What about Jerome tang? Drew said, beat us in the tournament and we were there in Greensboro. Right. In 2020, 2022. Is that right? 2022, 2023. No, 20, 2023 because 24 was right. Reading Rob 25 was last year losing Tennessee. 23 beats us in the second round. Goes to sweet 16. I think they end up going the elite eight. They. He says after the game, like, we had the dudes or something like that. Like that. Or did he say Kentucky?
Shannon
We had more dudes than they had.
Matt Jones
We had more dudes than they had was what he said. And all of a sudden, they started investing huge amounts of nil into the program. And he said we would be cutting. His quote was, we'll be cutting down net sooner rather than later. And now, two and a half years later, fired. They are firing him for cause, which is an amazing thing because after the game the other day, he said there were people that didn't. The players didn't deserve to wear the uniform. And he basically crushed his players, which I thought was a bad move by him. But they are using it as a for cause firing to try to not pay him. $18 million. I'm going to make you a prediction right now as this is my legal hat. Kansas State is losing that case. They're going to have to settle because if he sues, they will lose. But what a fall for Jerome Tang. Drew.
Drew
I remember that video of him dancing in the locker room. It was real smooth. It like went everywhere in March Madness. He was kind of a hot name. He just came from Baylor. Then he beats Cal, calls Cal out for the dudes, and he has done nothing since. They've actually had good, good rosters. They've gone out and gotten some of the best portal players. Have one of the best players in the country this year, and he still can't seem to find wins. I'm actually a little surprised he, he fell as quickly as he did from that high of 20, 23, but I'm not surprised they let him go. I don't think they'll win that lawsuit. But their, their record has been bad with pretty good rosters the last couple seasons.
Matt Jones
Been terrible. Anyway. I think Ugo was on the team. Ryan. Right.
Shannon
Didn't he?
Drew
That's what's so funny. He called Kentucky out for not having dudes and he literally went out and got Ugo, who wasn't even one of our alleged dudes that year.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Huge fall. But do you think, okay, so assume his contract says that he can be fired for cause? Usually they don't define what that means very well. Usually it's like, I think in, in some, some of the really good coaches do, and they're basically like, it's only if I do NCAA violations, etc. Do you think coming out his statement where he was like, our players don't deserve to wear the uniform, do you think that. Is that worth a four cause firing?
Ryan
You know, he probably shouldn't have said that, but I don't see how you can justify that being they're last place in the conference. They were looking for an excuse to fire the guy. I just don't think this justifies the fire for cause when all he stated was he didn't like his effort and didn't like his roster. Didn't like they didn't deserve to put on the uniform.
Drew
I feel like coaches say that all the time when their team's not playing well.
Ryan
Right.
Drew
They don't deserve to wear the letters on their chest. That's not that uncommon.
Matt Jones
That's for cause then. Anything's for cause.
Ryan
Yeah, right.
Matt Jones
Coaches, coaches say stuff all the time that, look, I mean, you owe him $18 million. That's on you. I'm a big believer. You do not give coaches huge raises and extensions based on one tournament run. Okay, one, if it's a great season or two season. But if you go on one run and you then you're asking because sometimes you can get lucky in the tournament, Ryan. Sometimes you can like get a good bounce and a couple like you can't do that. And that's what they did.
Ryan
He like Drew said he was a hot young name. Kansas State seemed to have it going on, but they're awful right now. And you know, he's the guy that put that roster together. He can't blame the players as much.
Matt Jones
And they were awful last year too.
Shannon
If you could fire him for calls. Did you see what Gottlieb said in his postgame press conference?
Matt Jones
He was godly, was out of control. I can't, we can't even play what he did on the show, it was unbelievable. All right, a couple of things. First of all, trivia is Thursday night at KS Bar, 7 o', clock. Get your team ready, come on out. We're going to be doing it. Be a lot of fun trivia. KSBAR tonight, pregame show starts at 6:30. Darius Miller will be our guest. You can come to the bar, meet him, see Darius, take pictures and you can tune in on the radio at 6:30. Let's make some predictions. Ryan, what do you think happens?
Ryan
I think eight and a half is a lot of points, but I think Kentucky will win. I'm going to say Kentucky, they win but don't cover. I'll say 77. 70. No, I mean, hang on. I forgot Georgia scores a lot of points. Let me go 81, 75.
Matt Jones
All right, Shannon.
Shannon
I'll go. Kentucky wins. 85, 78.
Drew
All right, Drew with their best player back. I think Georgia actually plays well, keeps it close, but Kentucky wins. I'll say 84, 79.
Shannon
We're all parking.
Matt Jones
I think we will fall down early. Fifteen, but maybe by eight or nine. I think halftime, it's probably close. Maybe even they lead by a couple. We'll win, but it's going to be a lot closer than we want it to be. I'm going to say like 82, 78. I think this will be. I think this will be a more difficult game than we hope it is.
Ryan
But none of us has Kentucky covering. Nobody picked Kentucky to cover.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I think, I don't know what it is. This team plays better against good teams for some reason. And Georgia, Georgia can put up points and getting their leading score back you know I think it's going to be, I think it'll be tough but I do think we win. I think the crowd is big. We need that 9 o' clock rep crowd to not be sleepy. They need to be loud because I think that's going to matter. We will see you at 6:30. Thanks for listening. This has been Kentucky Sports Radio.

Hour 2 of KSR features the crew diving into the latest news and views around UK (University of Kentucky), with signature conversations about officiating in college basketball, listeners’ favorite “Ryanisms,” recruiting rumors, wild stats from UK baseball, buzzy UK basketball roster discussion (with a focus on Jasper Johnson’s future), and a heartfelt tribute to acting legend Robert Duvall. The team also unpacks the recent viral interview moment where Barack Obama seemingly comments on aliens, and provides predictions for the UK vs. Georgia basketball game. As always, the show is lively, irreverent, and full of sharp (and occasionally sentimental) Kentucky wit.
(03:57–04:18)
Recruiting & JMI/GM Discussions:
Obama, on a podcast, seems to say “aliens are real,” then backtracks in a later interview. The KSR crew is incredulous at the lack of follow-up by the podcast interviewer.
Shannon’s POV: Obama is backtracking after saying too much; Matt counters that Obama clarified he meant “life exists somewhere, but not here.”
Listener Call & Segment:
Ryan's ‘Pulpit Stance’:
Ryan is passionate about Johnson’s value and worries about his future with the team, hinting a last-second booster intervention was needed to get him last year.
Matt & Drew push back, dissecting on-court performance, NIL realities, and recruiting strategy:
Broader Roster/NIL/Gm Issues:
Jerome Tang, who famously said “we had more dudes than they had” after beating UK, has been fired “for cause” by Kansas State. The crew is skeptical this will hold up legally and sees it as a cautionary tale about making quick coaching hires/extensions.
The episode features classic KSR interplay: quick-witted, playful jabs coupled with earnest debate on UK sports, roster management, and recruiting. Reminiscence and humor surface repeatedly, especially when discussing Kentucky culture or pop culture (Duvall, Obama). Listener interaction is highlighted through text machine comments and lively call-ins. Insightful, opinionated, and peppered with running inside jokes, the hour is a mix of sharp sports talk, Kentucky nostalgia, and a touch of national news pop commentary.
