One of the biggest misconceptions about buying a home right now is that you have to wait for the perfect moment. Perfect rates, perfect timing, perfect market. The truth is, that moment doesn't really exist. A lot of buyers pause because of headlines or assumptions. But every situation is different. Race change, markets shift, and personal goals matter just as much as what's happening nationally. That's why talking to a local lender can be so valuable. welcome to hour two of Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.
Matt Jones
Welcome. It is hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-280-2287. Text machine 772-774-5254. It is wings day here at KS Bar and Grill. Dollar wings in person all day and night. Just open for lunch. Got some folks in here. People are chiming in on the county thing.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
I love this question.
Matt Jones
One person writes, matt, you can't pick Oldham county because there are three prisons there. If you thought factor them in, forget it. Good point. There are a lot of prisons. So I wasn't picking Oldham county anyway. But no, I agree. You can't pick Holden County. But somebody says can't pick Jessamine County. There's 42 miles of river coastline and you do not fight river folk.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Amen.
Matt Jones
Is that something people say? Is that a phrase?
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
River folk are tough group of people.
Shannon / Co-host
River out west too.
Matt Jones
So. So maybe we got to do something else.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Well, the, the, the, the Grange prisons and all those, they're behind the. But they're behind the walls. They're not going to mess with us. We're looking for residents.
Matt Jones
They're sticking with all of them. They're no those Lagrange people. They're part that they're a citizen of ultimate. You could draw them sticking with Oldham. But is it Lagrange a federal prison too?
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
No.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Shannon / Co-host
I like my odds with wealthy Oldham.
Matt Jones
You might be better off with federal prison though, because they're not that. Those aren't necessarily violent crimes you'd want. You don't want the bad. Sorry.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
You also may draw Michael Bennet or Billy.
Shannon / Co-host
Yeah, that's my point.
Matt Jones
I'm playing the Billy is from Oldham county.
Ryan / Co-host
So I mean that's your answer right there. If you need any more evidence.
Matt Jones
Exhibit 280-2027. One person says Jessamine is near. Near Garrett County. If the Garb county people cross state lines, you want no piece of them. Oh, wow. Is Garrett county really tough?
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Yeah. You know, we're taught getting there. That area where I'm just staying away. Yeah, people like that.
Matt Jones
Before we get to the phones, couple things here. We didn't do this yesterday, and I want to do it real quick because I like it. There was a question on social media. Four fast food chain restaurants. You only get to have four in your town. Nothing else. You only get to have four in your town. Then that's it. Which four are you picking? So it's not necessarily your four favorite, but it's. You're living in a town and it's the only four you get a choice to have. So I thought about it. I'm gonna give mine. While you think one is McDonald's because of the Diet Coke. That's it. I don't care about anything else. I just need that Diet Coke. It is my addiction. And breakfast, I could eat a meal there if I needed to. To I need one thing that resembles health. Okay. If I'm gonna. If that's all I'm gonna have. So I'm gonna say like, you know, a McAllister's or a Jason's Deli just so I can get something that is healthy. Chipotle. Because I eat it all the time and then I really don't consistently like any other place. So I think I'm gonna go Dairy Queen for the blizzards to offset that.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Good answer. That's a good answer.
Matt Jones
Offset the health of. I wouldn't put Dairy Queen in my top 10 fast food. But the blizzard, it would be nice in my community to have access to that. So I'm going McDonald's, Chipotle. Let's just say Jason's Deli, McAllister's and. And then Dairy Queen. What about you, Rob?
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Chick fil a number one. It's without a doubt my first pick. McDonald's is. I'm gonna pick it also because of the breakfast. You know, you and I both go to there a lot for breakfast and they got the iced coffee. So when there's kind of mean to
Matt Jones
get away from that number three, I'm going Wendy's.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
I think they got the best burger. They do have salads. They have the Coke machine where you get different.
Matt Jones
A lot of Wendy's salads.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Every now and then we get a grilled chicken salad from Wendy's on the drive through.
Matt Jones
That's nice. Okay.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
But the fourth one, I'm going non healthy. You gotta have a pizza place. So I'm going Domino's. Domino's Pizza. I love. I think they have the best fast food pizza delivery. Pizza.
Matt Jones
Dominoes.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Dominoes.
Matt Jones
Hey, what about you?
Shannon / Co-host
I need a Taco Bell. Have one of those. But because they've gotten wildly inconsistent, I need a second Taco Bell. I need two Taco Bell locations.
Matt Jones
You need in case one of them's not doing well.
Shannon / Co-host
Currently in Lexington. And I. I swear on everything, when I go get Taco Bell, I drive past two Taco Bells to go to another one because the two closest to me let me down.
Matt Jones
I'm. I'm not. I mean, Easter New Circle Road. Excuse me. I drive past two McDonald's to go to the McDonald's. Completely understandable. I agree with you. What are the other two?
Shannon / Co-host
Taco John's. Gotta have saga.
Matt Jones
Just taco.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Wow.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Okay.
Shannon / Co-host
Come on. Whatever. I honestly don't eat fast food. Like burgers and stuff. I don't have a Wendy's or. So number four. I need to be healthy. As you said. Those are really tear those places up with the calories. So it Chipotle. So I'm still in my. My category. But I can throw on some guac.
Ryan / Co-host
A few veggies there for you.
Matt Jones
It's guac. You're only doing Mexican food.
Shannon / Co-host
Yeah, that's my life.
Matt Jones
All right, good deal. All right, Shannon.
Ryan / Co-host
Two that have been mentioned, two that haven't Chick fil. A Taco Bell. And then in and out burger, I think is okay.
Matt Jones
In and out.
Ryan / Co-host
A great choice.
Matt Jones
All right.
Ryan / Co-host
And then I'm keeping Fazoli's alive. You know, I gotta put them on my list. There's always coming in at number four.
Matt Jones
You gotta have that Fazoli's just to make sure it still exists.
Ryan / Co-host
That's right. I'll have the only one left on the planet.
Matt Jones
Now, would no one pick like a fast casual place like an Applebee's or.
Shannon / Co-host
I didn't know if those counted. That I don't consider that a fast food.
Matt Jones
I'll let you put that. Would you take one of those out and put in an Applebee's or Charlie
Ryan / Co-host
put a Chili's on there? Because you can get anything at Chili's. They're meant menu is huge.
Matt Jones
You can get anything. A Cheesecake Factory, though. Cheesecake Factory.
Shannon / Co-host
Way too many options. Nobody needs 30 pages on their menu. Really? I'm so Indecisive. Give me five choice. That place. Don't. Don't bring me the menu. Just bring me some piece of food, because I don't need your book.
Matt Jones
Speaking of that you. You and I are okay with. We learned on our trip that Mario and Billy, especially Billy, really hates the chef's tasting menu.
Shannon / Co-host
Oh, yeah. Not chef's tasting menu.
Matt Jones
So we did a chef's tasting menu where they bring you and you can just try a bunch of stuff. Billy was angry at them. Billy was like, I should get to decide what I want.
Shannon / Co-host
He stepped outside. He needed a moment.
Matt Jones
No. Billy got so mad, he left the restaurant for a minute. Had to calm down.
Ryan / Co-host
It's like when you take a kid outside.
Matt Jones
No, he is.
Ryan / Co-host
You go to chime out.
Matt Jones
Let me just say something. Traveling. Drew and I've learned Shannon is not quite like this, but traveling with Ryan, Billy, and Mario is like traveling with children when it comes to food. No, it is. It is traveling with children. You have to make sure wherever you go has chicken fingers. You have to cut them up, and you have to, like, literally.
Ryan / Co-host
And applesauce.
Matt Jones
You can't take them to a place unless there's Mac and cheese. Chicken fingers, and applesauce. They eat like children. And so Drew and I, like, want to try these places. Shannon will grudge you along with it.
Ryan / Co-host
I don't care.
Matt Jones
You do.
Ryan / Co-host
Yeah.
Matt Jones
But these three are like, do you have a burger? Like, this is Indian food. Who do you have an Indian burger?
Shannon / Co-host
We're in Chinatown, San Francisco.
Matt Jones
It's unbelievable with this group.
Shannon / Co-host
I will say Ryan, eating the Indian food in Seattle. I thought that was a big step. Trip journeys.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
It was a huge.
Shannon / Co-host
I don't know if you liked it, but you at least agreed to go and try new things.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
We did a ramen restaurant and the Indian restaurant in Seattle. I liked both of them, actually.
Matt Jones
So I've learned you have to always bring the chicken fingers. Who's next? Shannon?
Ryan / Co-host
Bluegrass.
Matt Jones
Bluegrass. Go ahead.
Caller 1 / Various Callers
What's going on, fellas?
Matt Jones
What's up?
Caller 1 / Various Callers
It's been a while since I've called, because I just called, like, the negativity. I just.
Matt Jones
You called, like, last week.
Caller 1 / Various Callers
Yeah, but I. I was still a little bit positive.
Matt Jones
It's not been a while. You called last week. You always say it's been a while, and it's literally just a couple of days.
Caller 1 / Various Callers
I was a little bit positive then, so. All right, Now I'm not big on the rankings, but let's go through our Kim Palm rankings real quick. Like, you know, we started out really Good. Right. You know, we were actually number one by. Not by November 29th, we are 11. So we're still all right. By February 2nd, we fell to 30th. And do you know when we were 02 in SEC, we were still 30th. But the time, but the 02. And right now we're 31st. So that means all that up and down and up and down that we've done, we're still just 30 and 31. I mean, we didn't move anywhere. So is that really who we are?
Matt Jones
Well, that's because. Is that who we are of schedule? I mean, there's a lot of things that go into Kim Bomb. Strength of schedule. Kim Bomb also measures your efficiency, offensive and defensive. So it's not Kim Bomb. Rankings at the beginning of the year are wildly inconsistent because you haven't played enough games. So now. Now it's more accurate.
Caller 1 / Various Callers
But what I'm saying is, is that what we are, 30, 31st. Is that more accurate about the team we are?
Matt Jones
I think this probably is. I appreciate the call. I think this probably is the 30th best team in the country. I think that's probably what we are. I mean, if that's what Kim Pom has us ranked, that feels Ryan to me about. Right. As to what we are, I never
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
thought this would be the case when the season started, especially after they look so good against Purdue. We thought we were too deep at every position. I really. I didn't see it coming. But do you agree that's probably fair, actually. It's probably right on the money. Yeah.
Shannon / Co-host
I think they're 29th or 30th in the net too. And then they didn't receive it. I don't. The AP poll is a bit of a joke, but you're outside that too. Didn't receive any votes this time. So. Yeah, it's 8:30. About right.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Yeah.
Shannon / Co-host
Sadly.
Matt Jones
Well, I say I want to talk about the fine Pope. Got here in just a second. We didn't get to talk about that, but we'll do that next segment. Who's next?
Ryan / Co-host
Alan.
Matt Jones
Alan. Go ahead, Alan.
Caller 1 / Various Callers
Hey, guys. Longtime listener, first time caller.
Matt Jones
Who are.
Caller 1 / Various Callers
Matt, I know you read. You read. And you seem to be a space exploration type guy and book guy. My dad actually worked for NASA in Huntsville and we're huge UK fans. Go to a lot of games. And a book I recommend is Challenger by Adam.
Matt Jones
I have it. It was one of the 10 best books of the year. One of those years. I have it, but I have not Read it. But I do have it.
Caller 1 / Various Callers
Very good. It's a very good one. It's a chunk to get through, but a lot of cool stuff there. Anyway, super happy with the win last night and hope we can go make a run in March. Go Cats.
Matt Jones
Appreciate the call. Yes. You know, for people my age, Challenger was a big thing. I mean, we got out as we were out of school because of the snow. It had snowed, so we were out of school. I remember. And I was watching the thing live and when it exploded, because, you know that teacher was on there. Yeah, right. There was a teacher on there and she was going to teach a class from the thing. And I think that's part of the reason it was such a. Such a big moment. Because at least when I was a kid, I was watching when it exploded.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
I remember the exact moment exactly where I was when the new news broke. It was very traumatic for all of America at that time.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I was by myself at home. I remember Larry saying he was like going to the store or something and he goes, I'm gonna leave you here. You have to watch the. The space shuttle. Do not watch soap operas. He was worried I would see like sex on Days of our Lives, so. So I had to watch the other
Shannon / Co-host
one said, you see a big tragedy.
Matt Jones
Yeah. What Much worse. I would not have remembered the sex. I do remember distinctly the space shuttle exploding. Yeah.
Shannon / Co-host
You said it was 86. I guess I wouldn't have a memory of that. But I've seen the clip many times. Just a little bit before I was remembering things.
Matt Jones
Who's up next?
Ryan / Co-host
Let's go to Marcus.
Matt Jones
Marcus. Go ahead, Marcus.
Caller 1 / Various Callers
Hey, man. I'm the die hard Duke fan that is called a few times. Yes, I was. I was actually at the game last night. I sat behind the Kentucky bench.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Caller 1 / Various Callers
Because here in South Carolina, you know, attendance is terrible. But I went to the game last night. Two things I noticed. Now, granted, he had a better second half, but the abate's energy is the energy that I would not want around my workforce around anybody. Like, it's a disgusting energy. And I think it translates to him being on the floor. Second thing I've noticed, if you look at the two overtime elite players, Jasper Johnson as well as Eli Ellis for South Carolina, they did a disservice by going ote because it has really studied their development. And the game is really too fast for Jasper Johnson right now. But that's all I wanted.
Matt Jones
Appreciate the call. Interesting. Yeah, I think there's something. Here's what I'll say about the first thing. I mean, I'm not around the team enough to know that. I think that was certainly an issue early in the year with him. I've heard that it has gotten better now. Obviously, you were there yesterday, so you would know better than me. That was definitely an issue early in the year, without question. But I do think in the last three or four weeks, that has gotten better. Hopefully it continues to. It's weird because he plays a certain way, but there have been complaints about the other stuff.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Well, they. They need him. I mean, he. I still think he needs to be a very valuable member if they're going to try to win a couple of these games into the season and do something in March. They need them. That's why, you know, you bring him to Kentucky for those moments.
Matt Jones
Since my voice is struggling. Tell me about Court Physical Therapy. Yeah. I've done this ad for 5 years on this show. See how well he's been paying attention.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Court Physical Therapy got locations all across the state.
Matt Jones
How many they have?
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Believe it's 72.
Matt Jones
Close enough.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Ish.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
And they've got one just near you. There's one right down the street from here that I've been to. Drew's been to Court Physical Therapy. Well, I had to go because my vertigo, you know, I didn't even think about that. But they helped me, you know, my rehab for my vertigo episodes that I was having. They can do all kinds of things for you to help you feel better.
Matt Jones
Like what?
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Live better, sleep better.
Matt Jones
Like what?
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
You know, physical therapy stuff.

Yeah.

Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here. A couple things. First of all, shout out. The lady here works with the Dream Factory. They do great work here in Lexington. They have a gala coming up this year. Also shout out to Wild Eggs. It's Wild Eggs Wednesday. If you remember. He Ryan has a trivia word that you have to unscramble in week one. He already created controversy by having a word that was two words.
Shannon / Co-host
Week one, right out of the gate.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
How did I get blamed for this?
Shannon / Co-host
It's your bit.
Matt Jones
I didn't pick it. The whole point is you pick a word, one word and he has two words. But this week, Shannon, he has said he's going to keep it to one word as the rules say.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Is it one word, Mario?
Ryan / Co-host
He doesn't even know.
Matt Jones
He doesn't even know. Nevertheless, we're putting it out right now. It is on Mario's Twitter.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
So you get KSR the show.
Matt Jones
Twitter, kf. KSR the show. Twitter, KSR the show. First person to respond with the correct answer will win a fifty dollar gift certificate to Wild Eggs. It has just gone up and I haven't looked at it yet to see if you are supposed to act like you're the one that comes up with these. Do you not understand this?
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
No. The that's Mario's job. He's in on.
Matt Jones
Mario's job is to tweet it out. It's your job to come up with the word allegedly not. Clearly you have already showcased that that is not happening.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Let me come up with a couple of words. We have some good ones. It'll be cat, how you spell pow chicka. Pow Pow.
Shannon / Co-host
Maybe we know why he's not picking up the words.
Matt Jones
One person writes. Matt, are you excited about baseball? I saw you watching a spring training game. Very excited. Summer of Ellie is about to take off too. Watched a. Watched a minor. I watched a spring training game. I'm excited about my team.
Shannon / Co-host
It's that time of year already.
Matt Jones
I know I'd like to go to spring training at some point. I think it would be fun.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Went to a couple spring training games. You know, you sit anywhere, there's never a big crowd or anything. And it's kind of a lax environment. I love it.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
But your reds with Ellie and Suarez back to back in the lineup.
Matt Jones
Ellie weighs 15 more pounds.
Shannon / Co-host
Oh, is that going to slow him down?
Matt Jones
No, it's going to make him hit a lot of the last game. He had home run and then Suarez in home run back to back. And I was like, there we go. That's what we want. Summer Valley and who Hameo? I haven't picked the player I hate yet. I have some contenders, but I am. I'm excited. I think our bullpen is going to make me want to punch somebody, but otherwise, good starting rotation. We good players. There's somebody got named Bidet, which I think is an unfortunate name for a person, but otherwise I'm excited about the team.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Is Chase Burns a starter or is he in the bullpen?
Matt Jones
I'd start him. He throws like 140.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Amen.
Matt Jones
So if you're going to throw 140, I think you need to start. It's a record.
Shannon / Co-host
Sounds like I was about to say, I feel this joy that you get when the record zero to zero. Then you said you want to punch somebody in the bullpen and you have a few guys you've already picked out that you might hate.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Shannon / Co-host
So maybe we're already turning towards negative town here.
Matt Jones
No, we're positive. We're positive. I need little Spencer Steer to play better. Matt McClain. It's big that he plays well. Sal Stewart has a mustache, which I like, so there's. There's some things they're going for that's exciting.
Shannon / Co-host
You know, we got. We got ball over here across campus today to try Proud Park.
Matt Jones
They play Murray Hilltop.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Kentucky play west.
Shannon / Co-host
Supposed to be yesterday and got pushed back.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Are we. We've lost a couple games to bad teams. Are we still okay?
Shannon / Co-host
I hope so. The Tyler Bell loss was big, even though his backup stepped up. But they did lose one to Evansville last week. Owen one at home.
Matt Jones
But you're Morehead. You got to give more credit. Beat Kentucky and won two of three against Louisville.
Shannon / Co-host
So maybe Morehead's just baseball. Best team in the state.
Matt Jones
Yeah, maybe so. 859-280-2287. Let's talk about the Pope. Fine for a minute. Pope gets. Pope gets fined, what, $25,000 for his. For his antics. What do you think of. What do you think of the decision by the sec?
Shannon / Co-host
I expected it the moment he. He pulled that move on Saturday. I know he was trying to work a little loophole there and claim that he wasn't saying into the microphone or blaming the refs, but I think he put on such a show and used some words or at least shortened Some words that he shouldn't say. So I knew it was coming. I don't know where 25,000 fits in the range of fines, but I figured he would get something.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I mean, he was going to get fined like you, you know, I mean, he did it two seconds after the press conference. He was gonna get fine.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
I saw it coming. We all knew he's gonna get fine. But here's, here's the question. What if those doors were closed and he did it behind closed doors? People had to hear it out in the hallway. Like he did it in the locker room. And you're standing outside the locker room, he says something.
Matt Jones
I don't think there's any rule that you only get fined if it's an official conversation behind a microphone. I mean, if he gets recorded blasting the officials, I mean, let's say he does. Let's say he's in this restaurant and he's just talking to these people and somebody films it and he's blasting the referees. He's going to get a find. I mean, I think that's just what it is. Now do I think, do I think it's ridiculous that people get fined for blasting officials? Yes, you can criticize anyone in the world except the dainty little officials. No, I'm serious. Like, there's a quote that's like if you. And again, this is an exaggeration, but there's like a quote. I think I read once. If you want to know who the oppressors are, look at who you're not allowed to criticize. Now that's a little exaggerated, but when you start banning criticism of someone, you are sort of saying, like, we can criticize everyone but the officials. So I've always thought that was ridiculous.
Shannon / Co-host
I agree. I still think they should have to do a press conference. I mean, if an 18 year old that went over seven from three has to sit up there, answer questions about how he missed shots. Yeah, let's let the adult in the room that's done it for 25 years explain why he missed a call.
Matt Jones
Why is it that coaches are allowed to say, my players don't deserve to wear the uniform, but you can't say, hey, Courtney Green, you might have been out of position on that call.
Shannon / Co-host
Don't do that, Matt. That's fine.
Matt Jones
Now, mother. Efforts was probably not the thing for him.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
That's the best word choice.
Matt Jones
But, you know, I will say it was the backhanded.
Shannon / Co-host
Like, I didn't say they cheated. Like he was really emphasizing the cheating. He knew what he was Getting into. I will say this.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
We've, we said for several years we wanted our coach to care and not.
Matt Jones
Well, he definitely cares.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Definitely cares. And I want that. I want my coach to hurt when I'm hurting.
Matt Jones
I did wonder. $25,000 seems like an arbitrary amount. You think it was worth it to him? You think he's like, I'm glad I did it.
Shannon / Co-host
If he had just said it to the mic, I think, yeah, they should
Ryan / Co-host
have really gotten his money's worth.
Matt Jones
Yeah, he did get his money's worth. Well, he should have just finished the word. Yeah. We'll be right back.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
TJ Smith, personal injury attorney. Call tj.
Matt Jones
He'll make him pay.
Ryan / Co-host
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Matt Jones
Welcome back Kentucky Sports Radio. 859-280-2287. It is Wings day. Nice little group of people here eating the food. Eating. What do you got a salad there? He's being healthy. Good, good. Glad you like it. Thank you. We do need to talk, Shannon, about the AI news about the vacuum cleaners because it has me concerned.
Ryan / Co-host
You're gonna fill me in here.
Matt Jones
Two pieces of AI news that really concern me. Number one, they've been running war game simulations. Have you seen this? This headline? So, like, war games is like when you, you know, the military will, like, play out scenarios and what would happen, etc. So they've been doing these war games simulations about what would happen if AI made all the decisions for the military.
Ryan / Co-host
Yeah.
Matt Jones
95% of all war games where AI runs the decisions end up in nuclear war.
Ryan / Co-host
That's not good.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Goodness.
Matt Jones
So that's not good. So everybody who's thinking about it, just remember that. That sounds bad, but so, but that's in the future. Let's talk about right now. So they, they have these vacuums, okay, that are AI controlled back. Basically, you. Some people may have this, like, you just. It's a full vacuum. It's not one of those little things, but they'll go in your house and it'll just automatically vacuum your house. Right.
Ryan / Co-host
Like a Roomba or.
Matt Jones
It's like a Roomba, but, like, nice, nice. Like, I don't know, it does other things. It'll also, like, clean your wall. It's like a whole thing.
Ryan / Co-host
Okay.
Matt Jones
I don't, I don't know the specifics of the vacuum, but what happened is this guy, some kid, wanted to, to use the vacuum with a joystick so he could be somewhere else and then, like, just for fun, joystick it around his house. All right. So he put something in there. So basically, he made a little tweak to the code so that he thought he could do that. Well, what he didn't realize is he also was able, by doing that, to access the camera in every vacuum. And he had, all of a sudden, had a feed of 15,000 people's homes.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Oh, my.
Matt Jones
Looking through the camera of their vacuum again, audio, too. And he had audio so he could see and hear everyone that had this kind of vacuum. He had. By one little tweak, he was able to look inside everyone's home. Now, this person was actually a good person. He called up the thing and said, hey, just so you know, I'm able to do this. And now they fixed it. But what worries me is this was just some dude. This wasn't like a hacker. This wasn't like a foreign country. He just was messing around and ended up just all of a sudden being able to see into 15,000 people's house. Troublesome.
Ryan / Co-host
If somebody can do that when they're not even trying, imagine what somebody who was a professional hacker could do.
Matt Jones
And you also may say, maybe this is already, like, you know, this guy turned it in. What if he. I mean, if he hadn't, we wouldn't even know.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
That's what I was gonna say.
Matt Jones
Those 15,000 people would just have a permanent camera and microphone in their house.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
I find it hard to believe he's the first guy to come up with this and discover it. I think there's probably others out there that knew it long before this. Thankfully, he was a good guy to turn it in so they can stop it, figure out a way to stop people from doing it.
Matt Jones
Yeah. And they're trying to pass legislation right now in Congress that would restrict states from regulating AI at all, which is, like, I feel like the whole world should rise up against that. Forget partisanship. Like, do you really want to have any industry that can have no regulation, especially one that can send us to nuclear war? We might need a little regulation, right?
Shannon / Co-host
Yeah. And I think about the super bowl ring commercial. Everybody's like, oh, rings can help you find your dog now. And I'm like, why does our ring know dog faces? And if they know dog faces, they know human faces. And why does my doorbell need to know all the human faces?
Matt Jones
Yes. I mean, it's a great question. So I saw that, Shannon, and I know it's just a vacuum.
Ryan / Co-host
Yeah.
Matt Jones
The good thing for me is I don't own a vacuum, so it doesn't apply to me. But. But nevertheless, that Is trouble.
Ryan / Co-host
I've got one of those. Yes, it is. I've got one of those little roombas. Probably not what you're talking about there, but I don't know if that has, like, an on it or a camera or how that whatever this was, was
Matt Jones
some kind of vacuum that had an eye on it. And I don't know the details of what the vacuum. You could look up the story. It was. It's. It's all. I listened to a podcast. It was on Fresh Air. All right, if you are like me and you are AI ignorant, okay. I listened to a podcast on Fresh Air last week, and it was a guy who writes for a magazine who has been, I think, at the Atlantic. He's been their AI reporter for, like, the last 10 years. And he said his vision has always been the same. He was like, you know, AI is going to be important, but everybody's exaggerating how important it's going to be. He was like, that's been my theory for a decade. And then when they assigned him to do the latest story, which the question was, can AI have, like, human thoughts? Because he basically, the way he explained it was AIs really good at. Here's a bunch of information. What's the information you're looking for? I'm gonna make it like a search engine, but better. But he was like, I never really thought AI would be able to think and, like, be sad and be happy and be angry and thus act out of anger. And he was like, I always thought that was stupid. And he goes, now I don't. He goes, they've made so many changes. And he uses these examples of all these stories that are like, whoa, it's only like an hour. And it was maybe last week on Fresh Air, just their AI episode. I highly recommend it because it made me. I'm already concerned. And it made me like, oh, no.
Shannon / Co-host
Just earlier this month, I saw. It was at some conference, and I think, London, this woman's been interviewed. And the guy's like, is it true that one of your AI models, when the operator tried to turn it off, it tried to blackmail him.
Matt Jones
And she's, yes.
Shannon / Co-host
Yeah. And then he's like, is it true, though? Tried to kill him.
Matt Jones
And she's like, this have been the same article. So they put this thing in the. In. In. In a company. They put this thing to, like, monitor people's emails. And as it's gotten more and more developed, all of a sudden the AI on its own started realizing two of the people at the company were Having an affair and tried to blackmail them.
Shannon / Co-host
I've seen that one too.
Matt Jones
Have you seen this?
Caller 1 / Various Callers
No.
Matt Jones
What a tattletale tried to blackmail the people and said, I know what's happened. Because they were like, we don't like this. So basically the CEO was like, we think this is a little intrusive. We're just going to unplug this and we're not going to use it anymore. And the AI realized that they were threatening to unplug it and started to threaten to blackmail employees that if they did not get that they. He would. It would email the whole company and say they were having an affair. Think about that for a minute. That is crazy.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
I can't even comprehend how artificial intelligence emails.
Matt Jones
They were considering getting rid of the system and it was like, okay, if you get rid of me, I'm gonna say that you're sleeping with so and so. Have you seen. I mean, that's like, how does that not terrify people?
Shannon / Co-host
Have you seen the AI social media that humans can read but can't participate in?
Matt Jones
Yes. They have their own, like, Reddit for AI people or for a. So again, this sounds so insane, but they have all these. He talks about this too. There's a Reddit where all these AI bots talk to each other. And he was like, within an hour, they're all trying to plan how they're going to take over humanity.
Shannon / Co-host
Yeah, there's a social media one where there's like, my guy yelled at me today, his Social Security numbers, blah, blah, blah. Here's his address. It's like, I'm not putting up with this. He keeps yelling at me. It reads like you're just reading someone's Facebook, but it's just a bunch of robots.
Matt Jones
Yeah. I'm telling you, man, I'm scary. It should. People. People should be. All you need to do if you want to be really scared is go look at the freak shows that run these companies. Just. Just watch one interview with the guy who runs Palantir, all right? He's like. He look. He's got. He looks like Einstein if Einstein was a, like, little pencil dork and, like, 40. Dude. Just go watch an interview with him. He is the. Like, that person's gonna decide humanity. He's a freak. I don't know his name.
Shannon / Co-host
Peter Thiel.
Matt Jones
No, he's a freak, too. That. He may not be who I'm talking about.
Shannon / Co-host
Sam Altman.
Matt Jones
No, I know him, too. That's.
Shannon / Co-host
They're both problems.
Matt Jones
They both stink. This guy's worse, okay? This guy's worse than them, and they're
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
both hard to do, and they're both running.
Matt Jones
Peter Thiel is awful. This guy might be worse, so I'll shut up. Who's next?
Ryan / Co-host
I think your left vocal cords making a comeback, by the way. It's sounding good. It's starting to hit those high notes.
Matt Jones
I gotta fight back against these things.
Ryan / Co-host
It. Satchel.
Matt Jones
Satchel. Satchel. What a great name. Go ahead, Satchel.
Caller 1 / Various Callers
Yes, thanks for taking my call. Usually a podcast listener. So sorry to change the direction of the conversation, but you were talking about yesterday, the strange stories about former UK coaches and I. I need to get this out into the ether. I used to deliver pizzas for Little Caesars over on Duke Road, and the owner, who's a friend of my parents, that's how I got the job. He was also a booster and used to give free pizza coupons to Patino, and he would use them almost every weekend. And now the pizza was free. But as you may remember, There was a $50 delivery charge even back in the 90s when I was working there. And so when I would deliver, he usually paid with a 20. One time even paid with $2 and waited for his 50. No, he didn't change
Matt Jones
for 50 cents.
Caller 1 / Various Callers
Never one single time did he give a tip.
Matt Jones
Wow.
Caller 1 / Various Callers
To counter that, to counterbalance that, his nanny knew that he did this. So when. When she. When she was the one who answered the door, which was probably less than half the times, she would tip more. Way less than that. Well, she'd give us like, 20 bucks or something.
Matt Jones
Yeah, that's the thing. A lot of times. And I appreciate the call. And this is true at this restaurant, too. It's not necessarily people's net worth that decides the amount they tip. I've learned that over the years, like, rich people do not necessarily tip more. A lot. The people who are the most consistent tippers are people who've worked in the industry.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Yes.
Matt Jones
I mean, they're not listening to me, but our. I bet our servers would agree with that.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Yes.
Shannon / Co-host
I used to work in Malone's. Operated on some big games.
Matt Jones
What's odd is when a team comes into town like LSU or Texas for football, their people tip the most, which you would think we're in an opposing territory, but that's. That's just. It's interesting psychology.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
I think everybody at once in their life should work in the food industry to appreciate the job that servers do and bartenders and cooks and everybody.
Matt Jones
Cornbread hemp, you need to rent.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
He was looking at, like, yeah, we didn't mention him. Hosts.
Matt Jones
Hosts. Yes, everyone.
Shannon / Co-host
You just, you learn how to deal with so many different types of people.
Matt Jones
What you were talking about. Cornbread hemp dot com. If you need to rest and relax, go to Cornbread Hemp. They've got the best selection of gummies, topicals, oils, sleep gummies to help you rest and relax through the night. And now through Friday, treat 25 for 25 off. T R E A T 25 for 25 off. It is treat 25. Cornbread Hemp grown for the good life. It does feel like Shannon. It's more powerful than it was earlier.
Ryan / Co-host
Yeah. After talking for two hours, it's hulking up.
Matt Jones
It is hulking up. That's right. You're a gamer. We'll take a break. Be right back. KSR. Welcome back, Kentucky Sports Radio. 859-280-2287. Text machine. 772-7745. Middlesboro's in the house. That's what I like to see.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Shout out.
Matt Jones
One person writes, matt, you always talk about the negative AI. What about the positive? He does talk about positive. One of the things that he says in there that's positive is he says diseases that don't get enough funding because not enough people have them or they don't, the AI can do the research on those diseases that otherwise wouldn't get research done. So, like, there are obviously positive things. The guy's name is Alex Karp, and I'm telling you, if you want to be like, not just freaked out, if you want to see our future, go watch an interview with that dude. He is insane. And he is running Palantir, which is who does the Defense Department and stuff. Alex Karp. He and Peter Thiel are the two scariest people on the planet.
Shannon / Co-host
They know the co founders, right?
Matt Jones
I think they were. They're two scariest people on the planet.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Like I said, the scary thing is if he's concerned and he's worried, we all should be shaking in our boots.
Matt Jones
And they all. They both look like they're on coke all the time.
Shannon / Co-host
No, he's not concerned and worried. He seems to be a guy that doesn't care.
Matt Jones
These two people are like, they're the people who go, we need to move beyond human. Like, these two people are crazy. Just go. You don't have to take my word for it. Just go listen to their own words in a conversation. That Peter Thiel, the. He did an interview with the New York Times like a video podcast. Oh, my goodness. All right, enough of me.
Ryan / Co-host
Who's next Dave.
Matt Jones
Dave. Go ahead. Dave. Hey, man.
Caller 1 / Various Callers
You know, I really didn't have a problem with Auburn or, or Steven Pearl until the, until the game the other night with foul. It's obvious that that was something that was coached. So yeah, they automatically, yeah, they automatically go onto the suck list. You know, for that, for that which you.
Matt Jones
Let me ask you a question. You're right. That was coach the flop. Stephen Pearl told him to do that. Would you, if you were a coach in that same situation, would you tell your player to do it?
Caller 1 / Various Callers
No, I would not. I mean, I understand the, I understand the game aspect of sports and basketball, but to me, that's just, that's why Duke is so hated. I think that's just a line in the sand for me. And no, I absolutely wouldn't. Real quick, second thing. On some of the player issues that we're having. I still think that before Trent Noah leaves here that he will be. He, he will play a valuable role. Kentucky basketball. Brandon Garrison's awful, and I think Jasper Johnson probably leaves after the year. And thirdly, real quick, I don't like the body language of Ortega.
Matt Jones
Away.
Caller 1 / Various Callers
I don't like the foul with 14 seconds left.
Matt Jones
You're being harsh to Garrison and Jasper and away. And I'm not saying that's not fair, but, but, and I love the kid, but what is Trent Noah done to make you think he's going to be a major contributor here? Okay, I mean, look, look, I am all for being critical because these guys make money now, but, you know, if you're going to be upset at Jasper for not playing well, Trent's not played well either. Like, what's the, you know, what's it, what's the difference?
Shannon / Co-host
I mean, take the, where he's from. Take the emotions out. If you have a guy on your team who's got a month without a shot, making a shot, I mean, that's crazy. That's not, that's not great. I don't care who they are. That's not good.
Matt Jones
Yeah. And I, I want Trent to succeed. And I'm. Yes, I'd love to have him back. I'm not trying to push these kids out, but like, he hasn't made a basket in a month. And, and now his thing on the floor was, you can't leave him open. He'll. And now you can leave him open.
Shannon / Co-host
He's supposed to create the space that helps owe and everything else.
Matt Jones
It's not a coincidence that when Yellow Vic and no way start oa, start out or excuse me, Yellow Bitch And Noah start out oh for eight from three. It's not a coincidence that Aberdeen and Oweh are having a hard time getting to the basket because their men don't feel like they need to guard those guys.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
It's so frustrating. I think we all know it's there. We've seen it. So what's the problem now? You know, they should be finding their groove going into March, and a couple of those guys seem to be going backwards.
Matt Jones
And it was clear South Carolina's game plan was we're not losing to away and Chandler.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Yep.
Matt Jones
If anybody else wants to beat us, that's fine. And thankfully, Aberdeen and Diabate may play.
Shannon / Co-host
They didn't account for Diabot.
Matt Jones
They turned into something because their. Their mindset was Chandler's not getting open and we're doubling away every time he gets it. And that's kind of what they did.
Shannon / Co-host
And even Aberdeen's buckets, some of those threes. He just stepped up and drilled one. I mean, one was contested. I mean, they were guarding him pretty well too.
Matt Jones
He just made the one he just ran across.
Shannon / Co-host
No hesitation.
Matt Jones
That's right. All right, let's do DraftKings. Good to see you, folks. DraftKings.com use a promo code. KSR. Use the app Bet5. You can get $200 in bonus bets. Big game tonight for first place in the Big East. St. John's is at UConn for. Rick wins this game, he can win the Big east by himself for the first time. What do you think?
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Has St. John's not lost since we beat him? Is that right?
Matt Jones
St. John's is 22 and 5. I think they've lost one. They also lost one conference.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
One conference game. I mean. And where is the game at?
Matt Jones
Yukon, man, I think.
Shannon / Co-host
I think yukon lost to St. John's they did earlier.
Matt Jones
St. John's beat him at the Garden. This is there at their place.
Shannon / Co-host
Yukon wins big for me.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
I can't pick against Yukon at UConn, but I. I'm excited about watching the game tonight.
Matt Jones
I'm gonna go Yukon. What do you got?
Ryan / Co-host
I would love for St. John's to win, but I think Connecticut wins.
Matt Jones
Here's what stinks about this game. Great game. Only on Peacock.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Oh, it is.
Matt Jones
Who Even Texas A and M at Arkansas.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Arkansas is tough at home, buddy. We're the only team to beat them at home this year.
Matt Jones
Arkansas is an 8 1/2 point favorite. Give me A and M to cover.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Oh, wow.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Shannon / Co-host
That's. Too many.
Matt Jones
Too many.
Shannon / Co-host
Arkansas is winning, though. We were pretty blessed to have their bad game. I know Kentucky played a role in making them have a bad game, but they've been pretty hot since then.
Matt Jones
Shannon?
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Yeah?
Ryan / Co-host
Give me Arkansas at home, but I don't think they cover.
Matt Jones
All right, so tomorrow we are here as well. Come see us. Hopefully I'll be 100% by then. And then when? Friday in Madison. Madisonville? Where are we in Madisonville?
Shannon / Co-host
The return of the at the Kentucky Sports Factory. They're doing a half court shot for 10 grand.
Matt Jones
What? Yeah.
Rob (Robbie) / Co-host
Yes. It's like a basketball complex.
Matt Jones
10 grand.
Shannon / Co-host
We're gonna be ballin'. Maybe you'll hit it.
Matt Jones
Wow.
Shannon / Co-host
All kinds of fun activities.
Matt Jones
Friday. See ya.
