There's a difference between liking a house and actually getting it. Redfin is built to make up that difference and close the gap between finding and owning the home for you. Redfin agents close twice as many deals as other agents, so when you find a home you love, you're not a step behind when it comes to making an offer. That means less watching great homes disappear and more focus on the one you'll call home.

One of the biggest misconceptions about buying a home right now is that you have to wait for the perfect moment. Perfect rates, perfect timing, perfect market. The truth is, that moment doesn't really exist. A lot of buyers pause because of headlines or assumptions. But every situation is different. Race change, market shift and personal goals matter just as much as what's happening nationally. That's why talking with a local lender can be so valuable. When you contact Stockton Mortgage, you get paired up with a local lender. That lender will give you your options. That lender will explain the situation. You can ask your own questions. two of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.
Matt Jones
Welcome back. It is our number two here at the Hopkins County Kentucky Sports Factory in Madisonville. An absolutely amazing crowd here with the city of Madisonville. In my opinion, we don't have scientific records on this, but probably breaking the record for most people at a remote outside if I got reminded the time we did it at the final four and there was and then maybe, but outside of those kind of going to a major UK event and doing the pregame right before it, I think this is probably the largest crowd we've had and certainly the most fun and it's great to see. And, and I personally thank you for doing this for my man Drew 859-280-2287 tax machine is 772-774-5254. Couple comments. One person writes, Matt, you're always trying to create controversy with Mark Pope. He doesn't owe anyone an explanation about his hirings. He's the coach. You all should shut up. Well, it would be very hard to do a show if we shut up all the time. I would respectfully disagree, Ryan, that the coach of a public university does not, does not owe the people who are the fans of a public school explanations. I think that's part of the, part of the gig. I mean, one of the things I love about Mark Pope is he says all the time. I think I heard him say yesterday, he was like, yes, there's a lot of pressure, but you should. I think he said the pressure is beautiful because if he don't have Pressure. That means it doesn't matter. And if it doesn't matter, then why are we doing this? And I appreciate he gets all that. But part of that pressure means, you know what? Yes, we care about this stuff and you do need to explain it to us. This is not, you know, you don't just get to live in secrecy. And I think fans have a right to wonder about whether this is going to happen.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
When you sit in that chair, you have to understand what this program means to not just us, but the entire state from border to border. We live and die with this program. But did he really say beautiful? Pressure.
Ryan Lemond
It's beautiful.
Matt Jones
I actually think he did say beautiful Pressure.
Ryan Lemond
Beautiful. Because it's special.
Shannon
He likes to work in that space.
Matt Jones
He does.
Ryan Lemond
He asked us to criticize him when things aren't going well. So we're doing it. He asked for it.
Shannon
My thing is if they like hearing go big blue on the road or they could play a game on the moon and Kentucky fans would go, when things aren't going well, those people are going to have opinions. Like when Kentucky's at their best, you love how good the fan base is. But when you're barely getting into the tournament, you can't be surprised when those same people are upset.
Matt Jones
The reason there are all of these people here is because Kentucky basketball matters to people in a way that it just doesn't matter anywhere else. And that, and that, that is. I was actually going to say this anyway, but I'll. That is beautiful in a lot of ways. Special and. But you have to embrace it. Listen, I say this all the time. No one cares about this like we do. You know, I went to Duke, I've been to Duke in North Carolina games. They care. But it's not the same as this. It's different. Like, it's different. Probably the only place on earth that cares like we do might be Kansas. Right? So, you know, but with that comes intent, you know, more scrutiny. We've been to NBA games where there are fewer reporters than there are at Kentucky games. That's just kind of, you know, how it is. And so that comes with the, with the territory. A couple things here. First of all, the women's team, I don't want to skip the women's team. They're good. They play Saturday or Sunday, excuse me, against South Carolina, Right. In the final game of the season. They play the most powerful team in the country on a year in, year out basis, South Carolina. This is a huge game for Kentucky. If they could win, they have a chance to get, I don't know, three seed, maybe a four seed in the NCAA tournament. And anytime you get Don Staley in South Carolina coming in, if you can get a win, it's huge for your program. You think they have a shot?
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
I think they have a shot because it's at home. I mean, obviously South Carolina is great, but you're right, there's a lot at stake. If Kentucky can get one of that three or four seed, they can host those first two round games in Lexington. That's kind of so huge importance so they can pull this one out. Man, it could really change a lot of things for March Madness.
Matt Jones
If you look at the women's bracketology, if Kentucky could win Sunday, they could get to host which in which. In the women's tournament, unlike the men's, the first two rounds are in home arenas. Yeah, they could get a chance to host. So this is a big game for.
Shannon
I mean they could be our March Madness that we follow this year.
Matt Jones
You know, I mean that's legitimately true.
Shannon
SEC so tough. They've had some bad losses, but I think when you have a player like Clara Strack, there's just not many of her. When they get to the tournament, there's. They are set up to make a good run. I think last year that heartbreaking loss for Georgia Amore had the look and it felt like it touched the rim nine times and didn't go in. I'm excited to see them maybe take a step further in the second year of Kenny Brooks.
Matt Jones
I also. Shannon, had saw a story today that I thought you would like this morning.
Ryan Lemond
Okay.
Matt Jones
So you know I'm. I can be like sort of a law nerd a little bit.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. Every now and then.
Matt Jones
Alright. So for years, going back 20 years, if you want to read about the Supreme Court the own, there's only one place to do it. It's called SCOTUS Blog. All right. Supreme Court of the United States. What are you laughing at?
Shannon
Sounds fun.
Matt Jones
Scotus I'm sure you got.
Shannon
I haven't seen that part of the Internet yet.
Matt Jones
Ryan spends a lot of time on SCOTUS blog.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
When I need to go to sleep, I just pull that out and read it.
Matt Jones
So. Scott. All right. You know, listen, a lot going on on SCOTUS blog. Don't Ryan, you don't want me looking at your search history. Let's just leave it at that. If the worst thing I do is go to SCOTUS blog. But it's run by Shannon, this guy, this law firm that does Supreme Court litigation. And I've known this guy's name forever. His name's Thomas Goldstein. And so for years, like, part of me is like, man, that would have been a cool place to work, because he does. Well, I just found out he got convicted yesterday and is going to federal prison for anywhere from 5 to 30 years for not paying his taxes.
Ryan Lemond
You can't be doing that.
Matt Jones
Which for a dude who spends his life covering the Supreme Court, maybe he should have known that. But then you read the details of what he did. He was a high stakes poker player, okay? Would play in these huge poker tournaments, and he was really good. And he would win a lot of money and then try to hide it from the irs. Again. This is a guy who spends his life arguing in front of the Supreme Court and writing about the Supreme Court. The details of what he did are wild. He one time was playing one on one poker, okay, me versus you for two straight days. And he won a lot of money from the guy he was playing. Take a guess how much money this dude won playing one on one poker with a rich, unnamed businessman.
Ryan Lemond
You say a lot of money. I mean, that, that could be anywhere. I'm gonna say a hundred grand.
Matt Jones
One hundred grand. What do you think?
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Five million?
Matt Jones
He won $51 million.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
My goodness.
Matt Jones
From one guy.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Oh, my.
Matt Jones
$51 million from one guy. First of all, how bad is that guy?
Bowen Yang
Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
And how much money do you have if you're willing to bet 51 million
Matt Jones
and lose it just one on one, no big deal. So then he tries to hide the $51 million, and he tries to do all this stuff. Now, because he was in this poker world, lots of poker people used him as their lawyer. He represented Toby Maguire, you know, the actor Toby McGuire. Toby McGuire had been playing one on one poker. He won $7 million from a businessman. The businessman didn't pay. He hires the lawyer to go and get the money for him. Lawyer does it, gets the judgment. He owes Toby Maguire $500,000. Or Toby Maguire owes him $500,000 for his legal services. He tells Toby Maguire, hey, man, instead of paying me, just pay this guy over there, somebody he owed money to. Toby Maguire testifies in federal court. That was one of the ways he would try to keep the IRS from seeing his money. He would make his legal fees paid out to other people and then write to the IRS that he it was paid to him. So he did this entire scheme, and now he's going to prison. This is a guy who spent his entire life, life covering the Supreme Court. And now he will go to prison for hire for hiding money.
Ryan Lemond
The case of somebody that's really smart that thinks they can outsmart everybody. Smart. The government, you know, the, the everybody else.
Shannon
Irs.
Ryan Lemond
Where are these one on one poker happening? Like in somebody's basement.
Matt Jones
And who is the person that can lose $51 million in a 1 on one poker? Who is that person?
Ryan Lemond
A billionaire.
Matt Jones
It's unbelievable. You, if you haven't seen it, read the story. There's a long magazine article about what all he did. But there's also some other stuff that like I don't want to get into with all these children here, but just, just read about this dude. Crazy story.
Ryan Lemond
Be like a whole underground poker thing
Matt Jones
going on, you know, that you didn't know. Yeah, yeah. Who's up next? Bumblebee. Bumblebee, Go ahead, Bumblebee. Hey, hey, Matt. Yes.
Caller - Dwayne Lee
First of all, congratulations to Drew. I've known him since he was a little kid. I lived in Madisonville for 13 years. Now live back home in Mount Sterling. He's friends with my son Brandon, but my name's Dwayne Lee, but.
Matt Jones
Oh, hey, Dwayne.
Shannon
Thank you.
Caller - Dwayne Lee
Yeah, you guys were name driving and I was surprised Drew didn't bring this one up. But most of the crowd might agree with me and Drew would too. But one of the best dual sport athletes to ever come out of there to me was Michael the Hammer Haney. He played at Eastern in basketball, played overseas in pro. He also could have been a pro football player, but he chose basketball.
Matt Jones
Michael the, the Hammer is a very good nickname. So I went to school with him.
Shannon
I don't remember calling him the Hammer. That might have just been you and Michael, but he was very good.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
No, no.
Matt Jones
I mean your name is Bumblebee. Maybe you had pet names for each other. Bumblebee and the Hammer.
Caller - Dwayne Lee
That's right. That's right. And give a shout out to Frank. I've seen him in years either, but thank you.
Matt Jones
I appreciate the call.
Shannon
He was good. Got us to state when I was in school.
Matt Jones
Who's up next?
Rob Gronkowski
Dg.
Matt Jones
Dg, go ahead.
Caller - Dwayne Lee
What's up guys?
Shannon
Real quick.
Caller - Dwayne Lee
Want to give a shout out to one of my best friends from Madisonville, Mason Rolland. Played collegiate basketball. And no one's brought Brush University with him. So shout out to him in Madisonville. One quick thing. So looking, you know, obviously everybody knows in March, guards win in March. So over the past four games, you know, looking at, I'll tell you, Ohay and Denzel, Aberdeen away averaging, I think is like 19 and a half and Aberdeen at 16 and a half. And Chandler's been shooting the ball very well as of late. Do you think looking ahead of March, the inconsistency of the big.
Matt Jones
Well here, I think you. You make a very good point about the guards. All right, so I appreciate the call. If you look at the history of Ryan, of NCAA tournament teams that win, it is very, very, very rare for a team to win a title whose best players are big. It's not. I mean, we did with Anthony Davis, but it is rare. Usually in March, guards win titles.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Yep.
Matt Jones
And guards take teams to the Final Four. So if you are wanting to be optimistic about Kentucky's March run, it's a good sign that our three best players are probably the guards. Now, those guards can be inconsistent. You know, they. Chandler can go cold, Away has misses layups. Obviously, Aberdeen had a bad first half year, but if you wanted to be optimistic, a case for us being good is the best teams in March usually ride their guards. And we do have really good guards.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
And I think away and Aberdeen and Chandler could carry a team through a couple games in March Madness for sure. But we saw what South Carolina did away. They said, okay, you, you owe and Chandler, they're not going to beat us. We're going to take them out and that.
Matt Jones
But then Aberdeen, Aberdeen's the guy and Diabate in the second half, I don't think most teams are going to do what South Carolina did. And remember, if Trent, Noah and yellow bitch hit threes, that strategy, we would have blown them out. Yeah, but they just missed them.
Shannon
Yeah, I guess Trent, Jasper and yellow Vich were 1 for 11 from 3. I'm trying to do the math.
Matt Jones
They were 1 for 11. 12.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Yeah.
Shannon
But I also think two games where you have always have two career highs back to back, you end up losing someone of that the bench or maybe yellow bitch starting at the 4. Someone else is going to have to lift up and help those guards because I agree that the guards can carry them, but they're still going to need someone else to rise.
Matt Jones
I mean, part of the reason, Shannon, why I don't think Florida can repeat is I don't think their guards are good enough. They got great bigs, but I don't think their guards are good enough. And in the. In March, it just you. There's exceptions, but you tend to win with guards. I do think our guards have developed into being very good.
Ryan Lemond
They have. And if I'm playing Kentucky, I think I would take the South Carolina approach. Shut down away. And then if the other guys beat you, so be it. Let the chips fall where they may. But, you know, always was averaging what, 28, 29 points per game the last two or three. So you shut him down. I think I would take my chances doing that.
Shannon
And watch Chandler in the postseason, how many times has he shown us he'll make a play in the final minutes in a tight game? And you need that kind of attitude and that kind of player in the tournament. Hopefully we even have an opportunity for him to do it. But imagine him hitting one of those threes to take you to the next weekend or something like that.
Matt Jones
You know what, Ryan Lemon, you need a facial.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Oh yeah, I have a pretty face I could use.

No, it's not what they're for. They are to make your face feel better, improve skin tone, texture and your overall glow.

Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live in Madisonville, Thompson's County, Kentucky Sports Factory. We just had some of the food they have here at the Back Porch Grill. It was great. The big Blue drink, which for those of you that are here, this is really, really good. Big Blue Blast is what it's called and it's got various levels of caffeine and it is. This is excellent. I can. This woke me up today and all the. The really good food and they have corn nuggets.
Ryan Lemond
I'm a big fan.
Matt Jones
For those of you that are cover zero listeners, we talked about corn nuggets all year because I didn't think you could get them anywhere except the Middlesboro High School cafeteria. And now you can get them here as well in Madisonville.
Shannon
Yeah, I used to have them at West Broadway Elementary. This is the probably 30 years since I've seen those. I'm excited to have them.
Matt Jones
I didn't know they did that anywhere else. One person. Oh, by the way, Kentucky. It's not on DraftKings yet, but on another betting site, which we don't acknowledge them. There is another site. Kentucky is a one and a half point favorite.
Ryan Lemond
Interesting.
Shannon
I had this as a little.
Matt Jones
A little bit of a dog. Isn't that that boy? That's a surprise to me. I like it though. I mean the dude in the gold chain over there doesn't like it because he's evil. But besides him. Besides him, I think you got to be. That's kind of surprising, but I like it.
Ryan Lemond
Considering Vanderbilt has their second leading score back who they didn't have in the first game. That is point. That is interesting. Duke Miles.
Matt Jones
Yeah, he's back.
Ryan Lemond
Yes.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Yeah, good point. He played last week. This last game, I actually don't like it.
Shannon
I was hoping to get some points. I was going to bet us. I was hoping to get about two.
Matt Jones
One person writes Matt, the combine is going on. How about some of how our UK guys have done been kind of surprising. You know, the football season we didn't feel like we had a lot of guys who would get drafted. It's looking like at least two of our guys may get drafted, maybe even three. And another one might be the fastest player at the combine. So we'll go through it. David Gusta, who played on the defensive line last year. Some people may not even remember that he was on the team. Although he played pretty well some of the year.
Shannon
He's one of the biggest transfers they got.
Matt Jones
He, David Gusta ran like a 48 40. He did 40 reps, which is like a crazy amount apparently on the bench press. And he's like considered one of the best performers so far in the combine. So we're probably going to see him
Shannon
get drafted yeah, he was one of the biggest names, if not the biggest name they got in the portal last spring, and he had a good year. That defensive line actually played pretty well, the whole unit, but we were all just kind of caught up in the bigger picture with Kentucky football and didn't really get to shine the light on him that he probably deserved.
Matt Jones
And then your guy Jagger.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Yeah.
Matt Jones
He's looking like he's going to get picked somewhere in the. Jagger Burton from Lexington, somewhere in the middle to late rounds and offensive line, he's ranked as one of the top eight centers in the draft.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Yeah. That's why they moved him to center. They think that was his future in the NFL because he's got long arms, he's smart, he can read the defenses and make the cuts. Right. Cut calls. So I'm really happy and proud.
Matt Jones
Jagger and then a dude that we should have gotten the ball to. More Kedrick Law. There, there. I guess he runs the 40 today.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And they're saying that he and another guy have a chance to contend for the fastest 40 ever at the combine. Kedrick Law, like, we didn't. We never even got him the ball. And this is a dude who might. Who they're saying he may very well make NFL teams as a kick returner.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Yeah.
Shannon
The last month of the year, they finally started going to him and it was working. You know, he's getting like nine catches a game there for a few weeks. And it's kind of like you're saying it's like, well, where was that all season?
Matt Jones
He was big.
Shannon
And the road win at Auburn and maybe the game gets Florida. I think he had a couple big games.
Matt Jones
So, you know, it looked like Kentucky was going to have no guys drafted, and now they have maybe three, maybe even four who end up getting picked. And that's just. In some ways, that's almost a little more frustrating. Why weren't we better share?
Ryan Lemond
You know, we heard before the season started we had top 30 talent. You know, if you go player by player down the roster and to have the results that we had with that roster is very frustrating.
Matt Jones
We. We haven't gotten to talk a lot about a lot about football in the last few weeks because of basketball. Let me ask you, folks, how many of you, by hand, feel optimistic about the Will Stein era of football?
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Oh, wow.
Matt Jones
I'm really glad to see that because there hasn't been optimism around the football program. I feel it. I've asked. We're hoping to get him on the show before the SEC tournament for a long Sit down. We'll see if it ends up happening. I hope it does, but I am very optimistic, Ryan and I. I don't think people. There was all that information at the beginning, and it's been a little quiet spring practice starting. But I really like what Will is building.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
It's great to see the fans react this way because we all enjoyed Mark Stoop. He was the best coach we've ever had. But it was time for a breath of fresh air. I think Will Stein has not only brought that, he's brought another level of energy that the fan base needed as well as that locker room needed it. Spring practice starts when, oh, it's like, next coming up.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I think it's next week. And you'll learn a lot more about these guys. I'm interested to learn about our quarterback. I mean, Kenneth Minchi, we know very, very little about, but people around him. I mean, I had a friend, Shannon, who's a booster at Notre Dame, say to me, you guys are going to love that kid. Like, love him. He said he thinks he's better than anybody we've had in the last decade besides Will Levis.
Ryan Lemond
That's high praise right there.
Matt Jones
I mean, that's high praise. We'll see if it ends up happening
Ryan Lemond
from somebody who knows the player and has seen them.
Matt Jones
That's exactly right. Who's up next?

I don't know if you heard Aaron Torres podcast. He was talking about the same thing that you mentioned about, talking about the GM and not just hiring a Kentucky alum, just to hire a Kentucky alum. He said, you know, do something that, like Duke did and go get somebody from Nike that knows these agents day in and day out.
Matt Jones
Well, that, to me is the thing, and I appreciate the call. I trust Mark Pope to know Drew the to to know the players he wants. I don't think he did the best job this year, but he did a pretty good job his first year. I think he knows the players he want. I trust Mark Pope to know who's good, who's not. But a lot of recruiting now is talking to agents. He clearly is not good at that. Find somebody who can do that. And it probably is somebody who worked at Nike, you know, whatever. But what you don't want to do is just go hire a guy that you happen to play with.
Shannon
Yeah. Well, even in his joking yesterday, when he said I want somebody that will go get me the best players for free, he said a lot of my former teammates, people around here are already hitting me up for it. And he downplays like, I can't trust them. That at least gave me a little comfort.
Matt Jones
Good.
Shannon
Not just going to hand it off to someone that was on the 96 team.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I mean, I, I understand the desire for comfort, but I think he probably needs to go out of his comfort zone.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Yeah, it's much of a business hire as much as it is a basketball hire these days.
Matt Jones
That's exactly right. All right, when we come back, we're going to draw somebody's name here. Nice to get ready to shoot for $10,000. Everybody get your tickets out. We will be drawing it when we come back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio live in Madisonville. T.J. smith, personal injury attorney.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Call T.J. he'll make him pay.
Ryan Lemond
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Matt Jones
Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live at the Kentucky Sports Factory. An awesome facility, 92,000 square feet. Basketball, volleyball, pickleball, soccer, T ball, batting cages all here. Ryan says the nicest one in the state. I've not seen one nearly this good and excited to be here. Great crowd. Before we get started, let's go to Cornbread Hemp if you need to rest and relax. What do you do, Ryan?
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
I'm taking some cornbread hemp, baby.
Matt Jones
Bring it on. Last night brought it across county lines. It was good. March is national sleep month and it's better to rest your mind with cornbread hemp from now through tomorrow. You could save $25 off any purchase with Treat 25. That's Treat 25. Cornbread Hemp. The gummies, the sleep oil, all their cornbread hemp. This is the good life. Now we are going to in a minute, I'm going to draw somebody here to shoot for $10,000 from the good folks here at the sport factory. But before we do this, we need to just like see how it works, right? I mean, not everybody can, you know, these people need to know what to do.
Shannon
Yeah, we make sure the balls regulation.
Matt Jones
That's exactly right. So we're right here at half court.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Now.
Matt Jones
You folks sitting there. No, you don't have to get up Just watch out. The ball might fly and hit in your face. Billy, our sports, everybody give Billy our sports here a round of applause.
Shannon
Oh, the social pressure.
Matt Jones
Come on up, Billy.
Shannon
He looks terrified.
Matt Jones
Billy looks a little scared. That's okay because you always say you're confident. Billy, I want you to go to half court and we're going to let Billy take the first attempt. This is not for $10,000. This is for pride.
Shannon
Billy, I'll give you $10.
Matt Jones
So everybody, I want to get a big round of applause here for Billy.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Billy. Billy.
Matt Jones
Here we go.
Ryan Lemond
He already shot two balls earlier.
Matt Jones
Don't cross the line. You can jump across it, but you can't. You have your toe. Has to be before it. Here we go, everybody.
Shannon
Billy.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Billy. Billy. Doesn't look too godly, Billy.
Matt Jones
Money, money or anything. Okay, only 10ft short and to the left. Nice job, Billy.
Ryan Lemond
That was his third shot.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
You know, Shannon took one and hit it. He take. Took one shot morning and hit it.
Matt Jones
I'll tell you what, we can't give that as the one Mario there. Let's let Mario. Mario, come on, give us your phone.
Ryan Lemond
Where's the ball? The ball's underneath the table.
Shannon
Mario's making this.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
He's a Hooper.
Matt Jones
Now, for people who don't know, Mario's brother played basketball at Morehead State. Was a good player. Mario played in high school. You played with. What's the guy's name from Florida. You played with Colin Castleton.
Ryan Lemond
Played with Satan Sharp.
Matt Jones
Played with. Hey, Sharp. Here we go. Let's give it to him. Come on, Mario.
Ryan Lemond
Let's go, Mario.
Shannon
Oh, this is good.
Ryan Lemond
At least hit the backboard.
Shannon
We're dribbling between the.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Look at him getting the rhythm. Get the rhythm. Get the rhythm.
Matt Jones
Oh, wait a minute.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Oh.
Matt Jones
All right.
Ryan Lemond
Can nobody hit the round but me?
Matt Jones
So. Oh, for two over two, zero rim hits. Not a great start, but I feel like anyone at Matt here in Madisonville will do better. No, no, we're not doing in the crowd yet because the crowd is for the money. So we're going to hang on for. For just a second. 859280, 2287. Let's talk about one thing that is was is in the news about broadcasting. All right, so college sport. Everybody knows that there needs to be regulations in college sports. Donald Trump announced yesterday he's going to have a roundtable to talk about college sports. He's invited a list of people that have nothing to do with college sports. So I don't think it's going to be very Productive. However, there is something going on that I do think is important, which is there's a fight right now, Drew, between the commissioners of the SEC and the Big Ten and everyone else in college sports. I'll give you the quick version of it right now, the way you do television, each conference negotiates their own deal, right? So the SEC's is with ESPN. That's why our games are on ESPN, SEC Network, etc. Like the Big Ten, their deal is with Fox and CBS, etc. So each conference does it their own way. Well, what does that end up doing? The conferences that are the most powerful, they get more money, Right? So part of why the SEC and the Big Ten are dominating sports, we get a lot more money on our TV deals than the ACC in the Big 12. Kentucky gets, like, use Louisville as an example. Kentucky gets twice as much money as Louisville does from their TV deal. Well, you guys remember when you were watching college football this year, a guy would get on television and go, we need to save college sports. And he'd be standing in front of a truck and he'd be like, let's do the Save the College Sports Act. Remember that?
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
I definitely remember that.
Matt Jones
His name's Cody Campbell. Well, here's what he wants. He wants all the conferences to come together, pool their TV rights and sell them together. He says we'll make more money if we do that. Well, sort of. The conferences like the ACC and the Big 12 will make more money, but SEC and Big Ten will not. Now, what was interesting is Mitch Barnhart, if you remember, agreed with him. And I think I told you on this show at the time, I was like, I'm kind of surprised Mitch Barnhart has that position. Well, yesterday, the SEC and the Big Ten came out and said they disagree with him, do not want to pull the rights. The reason that's important is as we're trying to get legislation to regulate it now, Drew, the major conferences are not even agreeing with each other, and I think that is going to make it much, much harder to get this stuff passed.
Shannon
Yeah. And the SEC and Big Ten have kind of been. Not operating on their own, but, you know, it's kind of been rumored. Yeah, eventually breaking off and trying to work like that. And as each season passes, they're getting bigger and bigger, and it's clear they're the two big dogs. Did you say Mitch, like, went against the conference?
Matt Jones
Shockingly to me, when he initially made his statement, he said he agreed with that guy. I think now, I could be wrong, but I think he did And I was like, that's odd to me, because what that guy wants will hurt schools like Kentucky, I would think. Now the conference has come out and said they disagree with him, so we'll see what happens. My point of all that is just to say, I feel like, Ryan, we're even farther away from this stuff than we were a few months ago.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
You know, SEC football generates a lot of money, and you don't want to divvy that out to everybody else. You'd like to keep that for yourself within your conference.
Matt Jones
Well, the question is, do you want to share that money, Shannon, with Louisville or not? No. No.
Bowen Yang
Yeah.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
The answer is always no.
Matt Jones
I think the answer, at least for Kentucky, is no. Who's up next?
Bowen Yang
Stephen.
Matt Jones
Stephen. Go ahead, Stephen.
Caller - Dwayne Lee
Hey, guys. Sorry calling a little bit late here. I kind of wanted to get your all spiel. I know Pope's kind of shown some reticence on filling this GM position. I want to know. I know that kind of varies with the programs, the capacity in which they operate. And I didn't know for Kentucky what you thought the best capacity would be to kind of. To fix issues going forward, whether it's Pope connecting with the players, development, retention, or what an AB is that someone that's more grassroots on the high school scene. Coming from an NBA background, I don't think you need.
Matt Rogers
You need.
Matt Jones
They. I appreciate the call. I've said this a few times. You just need a business person who knows the economics of basketball, who knows these younger people, who knows the agents. You just need. You need somebody, honestly, completely different than what we have right now. We're good with the high school guys, but the problem is not getting the high school guys to like us, Ryan. It's getting them to sign on the dotted line, which is why we need a business person.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Yeah. It doesn't necessarily need to be a UK person at all. Duke went out and hired somebody from Nike that wasn't no Duke person. They let the Right.
Matt Jones
What? No. No, it wasn't no one.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
No Duke person.
Shannon
The word emotional has come up about Pope a couple times from, like, the agent and recruiting side, and it seems to be that's what's holding him back. Because at the end of the day, I mean, we love the being emotional about it. These kids are like, how much am I getting? How many minutes am I playing? Congratulations. You have all those banners. I'm here to. You know, for me, pretty much.
Matt Jones
All right, so here we go. One of you is going to shoot for $10,000. Everybody have your ticket Out.
Shannon
Nice.
Matt Jones
I'm gonna get. You have 20 seconds for me for you to hold it up or I will move to the next person. So because if you're not here, you cannot shoot. Here we go. Where is 3, 4, 7? 3, 4, 7 over here.
Ryan Lemond
We got it.
Matt Jones
Oh.
Shannon
Let's go, Sid.
Matt Jones
Now wait a minute, Sid. I'm going to assume you have 3, 4, 7. He's an honest man who wants to shoot. Sid says he wants to shoot. Let's go, Sid. All right, come on over here. Put your. No, just, just I believe. Let me look. Here we go. All right. Come on up here, Sid. Stand with me, Sid. I assume your name is Sid.
Ryan Lemond
That's the name I'm going by today.
Matt Jones
Okay, Sid, what do you do?
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
I am a retired man from.
Ryan Lemond
I was an environmental professional with a local business here.
Matt Jones
Okay. Now I'm going to. I hope you don't mind me asking you this, but the people on the radio can't see you. How old are you, Sid?
Ryan Lemond
17
Matt Jones
times 4, plus 2. I'm 70 years old. 70 years old. Yes, sir. Now, Sid, I draw you out $10,000. That's a lot of money, Sid.
Ryan Lemond
It is.
Matt Jones
Have you made a half court shot before?
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Probably not.
Ryan Lemond
Have you ever tried?
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
I made a few shots back in
Matt Jones
my eighth grade career. Okay. When was the last time you shot a basketball?
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
It's been several months, actually.
Matt Jones
Oh, it's just several months, though. Oh, yeah? Yeah.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Every now and then throw one up.
Matt Jones
You'll hoop? Sometimes.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Rarely. Yes. Okay. And do you live in Madisonville?
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
I live on the north side of Madisonville.
Matt Jones
I'm actually in that magic zone between Madisonville and Hanson. Oh, well, we all know about that.
Ryan Lemond
Of course we do.
Matt Jones
There's one thing I say, those people between Madisonville and Hanson, that's what you. That's where you have to go.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
That's where you go.
Matt Jones
All right. Now, Sid, I'm here's. You're not allowed to take a practice shot. Am I correct about that? No practice shot.
Shannon
Can you at least hold the ball?
Matt Jones
Here's what I'm gonna let you do during the break. I'm let you hold the ball. You can go back here, dribble, kind of feel it. No shots.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
No shots.
Matt Jones
And then said when we come back, you are taking that shot for $10,000 and the joy in the Madisonville community. That's what I'm really playing for. That's what you're playing, Sid, what would
Ryan Lemond
you do with $10,000?
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
What would you do.
Ryan Lemond
What would you spend it on my wife, of course.
Matt Jones
Stand up, Donna. Hello.
Ryan Lemond
He's shooting for you.
Matt Jones
It's gonna be 10,000 for you.
Shannon
Don't give any to Jeremy.
Matt Jones
Don't let him have it. J. Jeremy gets none. Zero. All right. Jeremy gets none. I don't know who that is.
Shannon
I grew up with this son.
Matt Jones
My son?
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, this.
Matt Jones
They were classmates on that soccer team.
Shannon
I talked to you.
Matt Jones
Take the break. Go stretch out, get limber. When we come back, we'll shoot. And because this is a big game Saturday, we haven't done these in a while. Oh. Ryan Lemon's going to give his first basketball pep talk.
Ryan Lemond
Oh.
Matt Jones
To the people of Madisonville. So excited he doesn even know he's doing it. But he is. That's all. When we come back, Sid, 70 years old for $10,000 here in Madisonville. We'll be right back.

Slicing can be used for so many different things. We're here with our friends from cnn from Siemens Energy. The ways that it can be used, frankly, are limitless and are really, really built to think through. How can T Mobile understand the pain points that our customers have? Smash those pain points and help help you deliver very specific outcomes?

Starting right here. All the way in. All these scoreboards, these are the scores of Kentucky's national championship games. So in 1951, 58, 78, 96, 98. Finishing with the national title in 2012. So they set the scoreboard forward to our national titles. You see right there, number three, number four, five, six, seven, and eight, Ryan Lemon. I think that's very cool.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
I'm glad he told us that because that is really cool. To kind of honor our national championship where we hang another banner.
Matt Jones
Yes. So very neat. All right, so here we go. It's time for the shot. Mario is going to kind of we, during the break, sort of toss the ball. We realize we think Sid might need to go one handed to get it all the way there. So Mario's gonna do a one handed just to give Sid, you're gonna need to throw it more than you think. I'll just say that. So, Mario, let's try one handed. Let's give. Let's give Sid some motivation.
Rob Gronkowski
Here we go.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Here we go,
Matt Jones
Mario. Now, Mario, your foot was on the Line there, so that. Be careful, Sid. You don't want to go the foot on the line. All right, Sid.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Come on, Sid.
Matt Jones
Here we go.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
I really want him to hit this.
Shannon
I've known him my whole life. I believe in him.
Matt Jones
Come on. $10,000. Hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on.
Shannon
Oh, you're icing the kicker.
Matt Jones
Let me set it up. Drew went to school with Sid's kid, Jeremy. Sid's wife's name is what?
Shannon
Donna.
Matt Jones
Donna. She's filming him.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
She blew him a kiss.
Matt Jones
Sid, you were her second choice. But that's okay. We learned with Tyron Stokes, second choice can still work after all these years. Sid. Good luck. Let's go, Madisonville.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Come on, Sid. Sid, Sid, Sid, Sid, Sid.
Matt Jones
First of all, Sid Rocket.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
My goodness.
Matt Jones
Sid, that was a cannon. You have the goal in front of
Shannon
us, not the other course.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Roger Clemens throwing.
Matt Jones
I'll tell you what, Sid. I told you to throw it hard. Because of that, you may have thrown it a little too hard.
Shannon
He got his head.
Matt Jones
I'm gonna just do a Matt Jones from me personally. If you make it $5,000. Oh.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Oh, my goodness.
Take Five Oil Change Advertiser
Wow.
Matt Jones
Okay. Wow. All right, so now hang on, Sid, because I feel personal responsibility for the fact that you threw it so far. So, Sid, I can't do 10. City of Madison. This fine factory has a lot more going than I do, apparently. But I'll go 5,000 for Matthew Harper Jones. Everybody get a big round of applause.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
You can do it, Sid.
Matt Jones
Do it twice. Here we go. Oh, no.
Shannon
Good distance from everybody.
Matt Jones
Give s a big round of applause.
Ryan Lemond
Just a bit outside.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Nice.
Matt Jones
Well, I had mixed emotions as to whether I wanted him to make. Yeah, exactly.
Shannon
Can I shoot one for your 5k?
Matt Jones
No, you cannot. This is not a transfer.
Ryan Lemond
I already hit one. Where's my 5000?
Matt Jones
It is not transferable. All right. Kentucky and Vanderbilt play tomorrow. The Cats, if they win, they're right now on ESPN listed as a 7 seed. On CBS, they're listed as a 6 seed. I think if they win this game, they have a chance to maybe get to a 6 potentially. Even if you bit beat Texas A and M, start knocking on the door of a five. If you win tomorrow, you almost certainly will not have to play on Wednesday in the SEC tournament. So there's a lot going on. We will start with you, Shannon. What do you think is going to happen?
Shannon
Yeah, Your favorite team.
Ryan Lemond
This is. This is always a tough one for me. I think, though, Kentucky is going to get more points in the paint this game, which Isn't saying much compared to the last game, but I think Moreno is going to be the MVP. Kentucky wins at 77. 73.
Matt Jones
Oh, the Vandy fan picks Kentucky. Wow.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
All right, Drew.
Shannon
Gotta get it done. I hope they realize that in the locker room. This is a big one. I say they finished strong. I say they win. Not comfortably, but they'll be fine winning about seven points. We'll call it 84, 77. My MVP is yellow, Vic.
Matt Jones
All right, hang on just a second. Crack. Listen, team members from Madisonville, where you going? Just because you didn't win the money, you can't. You can't. You can't. We still have. We still have my man here to say something. But before we get to him, Kentucky. By the way, game starts at 2:00'.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Clock.
Matt Jones
Pregame show is on at 11:30. Come watch the game at the bar. We will be doing the pregame show live from KS Bar. So if you're going, you. You can, you can park at the bar, eat there before or after if we win. I'm going to do the post game show there after.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
Oh, nice.
Matt Jones
If we win. So just keep that in mind. Starts. Show starts 11:30. Restaurant opens at 11. I like Kentucky's chances tomorrow. I do think they're going to rally. I think it's going to be a special crowd in there. It's a. With the game being at 2 o', clock, I'm going to say Kentucky gets the victory. I'm going to go 78, 74. Kentucky gets the win. Now, Mr. Lemon, I want you to stand up there. It is time for Ryan Lemon to do his first basketball pep talk. They just threw the. He's already messing up and nearly disconnected us already. Seriously. All right, Ryan, you have Brian one minute and a half. Stop dancing.
Ryan Lemond
Just know he's different.
Matt Jones
All right, go for it, sir.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
My man. Take a knee. I said take a knee. I'm tired of us losing these games. We're playing like not like fighters. We're playing like lovers.
Matt Jones
Oh, no.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
I'm tired of everybody saying we're playing like pow chicka.
Matt Jones
Pow, pow. All right, stop being creepy.
Shannon (Kentucky Sports Radio Co-host)
It's time to man up. I mean, their point guard is as
Matt Jones
small as I am. Their number one fan is Shannon the dude. For crying out loud.
