Matt Jones
You got this, Drew.
Advertiser/Commercial Voice
There you go.
Ryan Lemond
Nice.
Matt Jones
There we go. Welcome back here live at Tin Roof. For those of you that are just joining us on regular time, it's Kentucky Sports Radio trip to Nashville for the SEC tournament. Burt Tavern Bourbon and, and, and Clayton and Croom are sponsoring. And we decided to go into the crowd. We got a massive crowd today. And what I love about KSR's audience, Ryan, it's very diverse. We got, we got old, young, Eastern Kentucky, western Kentucky city, rural. And to show that, we brought our youngest and oldest crowd member in the crowd today. Let's start with the youngest, 9 years old. Give a big round applause. What's your name?
Advertiser/Commercial Voice
Lindley.
Matt Jones
To Lindley, nine years old. Now, Lindley, where are you from?
Advertiser/Commercial Voice
Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Matt Jones
Bowling Green, Kentucky. Now, you're supposed to have school today, right? Did you skip school at a girl? Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
Smart.
Matt Jones
And Lindley, why did you skip school?
Advertiser/Commercial Voice
To come here.
Matt Jones
To come here. Okay, now, are you a Kentucky fan?
Ryan Lemond
Yes.
Matt Jones
Who's your favorite player?
Advertiser/Commercial Voice
Trent.
Matt Jones
Trent. Noah. All right, Lindley, we need a big game from Trent Noah. He didn't even play yesterday. Wouldn't it be nice if today they put him in and he nailed a three for you?
Advertiser/Commercial Voice
Yes.
Matt Jones
All right, that's what I like to hear. What's your favorite. Do you remember what's your favorite Kentucky moment?
Advertiser/Commercial Voice
Colin Chandler stuck.
Matt Jones
Colin. Ch. And look, it's on his shirt. Shirt. It's on his shirt right there. How about that? All right, now this, I, I wouldn't have guessed you a. A year over 31 man, but 84 years old. What's your name?
Advertiser/Commercial Voice
Judy.
Matt Jones
Judy. Give a big round of applause to Judy. All right, Judy, where Are you from Danville, Kentucky? Danville, Kentucky. Now, how long have you been a UK fan?
Advertiser/Commercial Voice
82 years.
Matt Jones
82. Those first two years you weren't interested. Right? Who. Who is your. Who's. What's your favorite team that you remember?
Advertiser/Commercial Voice
Kentucky.
Matt Jones
No, I mean, I know that, but like, which specific Kentucky team?
Advertiser/Commercial Voice
Probably the year we had Covid and we lost first game and we should have won the whole tournament.
Matt Jones
That was your favorite team?
Advertiser/Commercial Voice
That was one of mine, yes.
Matt Jones
Oh, you mean. Okay, not the. Not the team that went 13 and 20? You're talking about the Tyrese Maxey team, right? Why did you like them?
Advertiser/Commercial Voice
I don't.
CJ Toledano
Just.
Advertiser/Commercial Voice
We were really good.
Matt Jones
We were. We were really good. Now you are from Dan.
Ryan Lemond
But what.
Matt Jones
What do you do?
Advertiser/Commercial Voice
I work for Walmart.
Matt Jones
You work for Walmart? Oh, you know, this guy next to you, his. His dream has been to be a Walmart greeter.
Ryan Lemond
I want to be a Walmart greeter when I grow up.
Advertiser/Commercial Voice
I give you a reference.
Ryan Lemond
Okay, I'll give.
Matt Jones
He'll give him a reference. You heard him cuss earlier. Would you still give him a reference?
Advertiser/Commercial Voice
Absolutely.
Matt Jones
They don't allow that at Walmart, do they? Yes. Oh, they don't.
Ryan Lemond
It is Danville.
Matt Jones
Well, I. Now, over the years, you've seen all those people. Which player. Which player was your favorite?
Advertiser/Commercial Voice
Over the years?
Matt Jones
Yes. Is there one you thought was particularly handsome?
Advertiser/Commercial Voice
Yeah. Shepherd.
Matt Jones
Shepherd. Oh, dad or son or both?
Ryan Lemond
Both.
Matt Jones
Both. Both. I like that. Read. Read and Jeff. Well, how many. How many years you been to the SEC tournament?
Advertiser/Commercial Voice
About 22.
Matt Jones
22.
Ryan Lemond
That's awesome.
Matt Jones
That's great. What's your favorite SEC tournament memory?
Advertiser/Commercial Voice
The year we won the SEC tournament.
Matt Jones
Well, we've won a bunch of them.
Advertiser/Commercial Voice
Well, it was about nine years ago.
Ryan Lemond
Okay.
Matt Jones
It's probably been about that long. Yeah. Well, first of all, I love this. 9 years old, 84 years old. Also two women the most sports radio shows don't have that either. You guys. Thank you all very much. Do you listen to KSR regularly?
Advertiser/Commercial Voice
Oh, abs. Every day.
Matt Jones
Every single day. Do you think he should wash his mouth out?
Advertiser/Commercial Voice
No, I love it.
Matt Jones
You love it? You love. It's Lindley. Come on. You, you, you. Or so she's Lindley. I'm sorry, you're Judy. Judy. You. You don't love when he talks about his underwear, do you?
Advertiser/Commercial Voice
Yes.
Matt Jones
Oh, okay. Well, all right.
CJ Toledano
That's.
Matt Jones
That's unfortunate. What will you. Do you think. Do you think Lindley. He should what? Stop cussing. No,
CJ Toledano
no.
Matt Jones
She doesn't know what to say. What Were you. What did you say? I interrupted you.
Ryan Lemond
Say it again, Judy.
Advertiser/Commercial Voice
Ryan's sexy.
Matt Jones
Yeah. I don't like it. That's the worst thing you've ever done.
Ryan Lemond
Thank you, Judy.
Matt Jones
Judy and Lindley, thank you all very much. It was very nice to meet you guys. Thank you for coming up on stage. There you go. I. I really wish you had. You're going to hold that over my head?
Shannon
Ryan really has a way with the women, doesn't he? I mean, he gets away with anything. He's the only person that could get away with the stuff that he gets away with.
Matt Jones
I wish that that were not true, but. But you did. Hey, I have one little fact for you while we're getting Drew and everybody back up here. Shannon, I. I just found this interesting about Kentucky.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
There is only one. They put this map out yesterday of what cars are sold the most in each state. Did you see this map?
Shannon
No, I haven't seen it.
Matt Jones
Okay. In the vast majority of the country, the most sold car is one brand. Then in California and New York and some of those states, it's a different brand. Kentucky, though, is the only state in America where the most sold car is a particular brand. The only one. Every other one is a different brand. Can you guess what brand of car is sold in Kentucky and it's the only state where it leads in sales?
Shannon
Well, for some reason, I see a lot of Toyota Corollas around. I don't know if that's the answer. Probably not, but.
Matt Jones
Okay. What do you think, Ryan?
Ryan Lemond
I'm gonna say Ford because everybody in Georgetown drives a Ford F150, so. Yeah, Ford.
Matt Jones
All right.
Mario
You know, my brain goes to Toyota, but I think it's too obvious. And Ryan took it.
Ryan Lemond
I think.
Mario
I think I'm gonna go forward here.
Matt Jones
This is what I don't understand. I couldn't believe Kentucky is the only state in the entire country that. That the most sold vehicle in the state is a Chevy.
Ryan Lemond
A Chevy.
Matt Jones
And I don't know who I. I don't know who that is. Do you?
Shannon
No, I don't know anybody that drives one.
Matt Jones
You are, ma'. Am. You lead the charge.
Shannon
There you go.
Mario
Ryan, you had a Chevy.
Matt Jones
The vast majority of the vast majority of the states, it's Ford. Tesla is in California. And then in the Northeast, it's like Toyota and Honda, but. But we are the one state that it's apparently Chevy.
Ryan Lemond
I had a Chevy Equinox for about six years till I rear ended an ice truck and totaled it.
Shannon
What have you not rear ended at
Mario
this point, I like that you don't just hit a normal car. You hit a Maserati, an ice truck,
Caller
yaka.
Matt Jones
Right? That is true. You have hit an ice truck and a Maserati just since you've been doing this show. That's exactly right. All right, who's up next? Cameron is up next. Cameron. Go ahead, Cameron.
Mario
Hi, guys.
Caller
I recently got contacted by a friend who was like, what are the chances that we go to KS Bar and get drunk on a work day to watch that Kentucky game? And I said, well, Bay Matabayo scored a three points in a basketball game and Brandon Garrison hit back to back three pointers. So literally anything can happen and anything is possible. The Cats are winning the SEC and they're winning number nine on the back of Brandon Garrison.
Mario
Go Cat. Yeah.
Matt Jones
Well, I think you should also go. I appreciate the call. Today would be a good day. We had had a bunch of people at KS Bar there watching yesterday. They were a little nervous and the vibes were difficult, but they won and we'll have it again today and hopefully continue it throughout the weekend.
Mario
Looks like a good crowd yesterday and I'm in a weird spot. I don't get to march with you all. So I'm gonna be at KS Bar. This is my last ride here on this tournament. So NCAA tournament. I'll be at KS Bar holding it down. I can't get too far from UK hospital. We're getting a little close to baby time. So look at.
Matt Jones
Yeah, because of the baby. This will be the first NCAA tournament that Drew has to skip. So it is just me, Ryan and Mario going on the road.
Mario
I'm looking forward to doing a March Madness watch party though. I don't get to and haven't done that in 15 years.
Matt Jones
One person writes, hearing Ryan is sexy from an 84 year old. Judy is the worst thing that's ever happened on this show.
Ryan Lemond
Oh, Judy knows. Judy's got game. You had a boy girl.
Matt Jones
Another person says, a boy girl. Women's.
Shannon
I gotta break that down for a minute. That a boy girl.
Matt Jones
Yeah, he did say that a boy girl. That a boy girl, didn't he? One person writes, matt, where does oa? Where does AWAY rank in the all time UK players? That's actually an interesting question because OA ranks. I mean, if you just look at the numbers, Ryan away ranks a lot better than you think. Okay, let's just start with points. If OA scores, I think it's like 56 more points this year, which is very possible. He will move in to Be the second leading two year scorer in UK or history. I want you to think about that. Guys who've played two years. Right now the only two players that have scored more points than Otega away who only played two years are Bill Spivey and Antonio Reeves. Those are the only two. And he has a chance to pass Antonio Reeves. Going to be hard for him to pass Bill Spivey, but he's got a chance to pass. Appreciate the call. Antonio Reeves. Oh, wait, we're not. I think we're going to end up kind of like Drew with Antonio Reeves that we won't think of him away as a star, but he kind of is.
Mario
We take him for granted. I mean, we all know this year hadn't been our normal Kentucky basketball experience.
Ryan Lemond
I love them.
Mario
I hope they win today. This probably won't be a team we're talking about 20 years from now. No, but Otega away just shows up and gets 20 points just night after night.
Matt Jones
Well, let's, let's rank. Let's just say post Covid.
CJ Toledano
All right.
Matt Jones
Post Covid. UK basketball players, if you're just talking about when they played at Kentucky, Oscar is probably number one because he was national player of the year.
Ryan Lemond
Has to be.
Matt Jones
I think Antonio Reeves is two and I think always three.
Shannon
I think you can make a case.
Matt Jones
And you could make a case always too. Yeah, you could, you could make a case. I mean I, I don't think we think of it like that, Ryan, but I actually think if you just look at production, that's true.
Ryan Lemond
There's a guy that the summer before Pope's first year we talked about who was going to start. Hardly ever mentioned Ortega away. He ends up being the leading score last year, leading score this year. The guy does think. I'd hate to think with his team would be without him. Put it that way.
Mario
I mean, two buzzer beaters. Yes, well, one season last year. But I mean it's not just that he shows up and scored, he has big moments. But because this experience hadn't been what we're used to. I don't know that we're giving him enough credit.
Matt Jones
I mean, to be honest with you, I'm the biggest Antonio Reeves fan in the world. But oa, Shannon probably should be second because. Because OA plays better defense than Reeves. A lot of Reeves points were threes. So Reeves probably always.
Shannon
Probably second in always two years here he's only had like five games where he hasn't scored double digits.
Matt Jones
He scored double digits 63 of his 67 games that's crazy. That's crazy.
Shannon
I think only Jamal Mashburn has better numbers than that.
Ryan Lemond
When you.
Shannon
When you look at double digit, I
Matt Jones
think you're right about that percentage of games that are double digits. I think the only person ahead of him is Jamal Master.
Shannon
Some good company, which is an.
Matt Jones
The amazing thing. Who's up next? Lane is up next. Lane. Go ahead, Lane.
Caller
Hey, Matt. Longtime listener, first time caller. I just. Good luck to you all and the Kentucky fans down there in Nashville and everything. My team, they don't play till tomorrow night, but good win yesterday. Hope y' all get.
Matt Jones
You didn't. You didn't need to throw that in. Are you an Arkansas fan? Hey, roll, Todd, baby. Oh, roll. Tie. All right, I'll let. I'll let you by. Are you there? Go ahead. No, he hung up. Oh, he just wanted to say his team doesn't play tomorrow night. What a jerk.
Mario
I wasn't gonna do this, but can I tell a story that Ron Lemon's gonna like?
Matt Jones
Yes. Go for it.
Mario
I parked in Nashville. It's early. I'm the only person on Broadway. A woman walked by me wearing a Tennessee jersey with no shirt under just two Tennessee jersey, and she spit tobacco on the sidewalk. And I was, thank you. I was like, thank you. Like, I need to tell Ryan about this. I wasn't going to bring this up on the radio, but since he's doing the rival fan thing, that was the first thing I saw when I parked yesterday.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
The jury rests, your honor.
Mario
I should have gotten a video.
Matt Jones
If we were. If we were to not win the SEC tournament, which team would you want to win the least? Tennessee. Arkansas. It's got to be one of those two. Which one would it be? Rather jump in the river.
Mario
But if you're going to make me pick probably Tennessee. I was so mad at Cal for not liking this tournament. I can't let him go get one.
Matt Jones
That would be my fault. Arkansas would be the worst because he never. He said he never wanted to win when he was here, and then if he went won, he would never shut up about it. I'd rather. I'd rather Tennessee win than Arkansas.
Shannon
Yeah, I think Arkansas is probably my answer, too. I think Vandy's going to take care of Tennessee tomorrow, so we'll see what happens there.
Matt Jones
They could lose today.
Shannon
They could.
Matt Jones
They play Auburn. Auburn's probably playing to guarantee a bid in the tournament today.
Ryan Lemond
Ryan, you know, you can't let Cal, after all the crap we went through with him the last couple years, come in here and Win one.

So after you watch us win, come on over here. I'll be doing the post game show. Not from here because I wouldn't be Able to hear myself. But a lot of stuff going on this afternoon.
Shannon
Always fun. One of the most exciting shows we do all year. We'll be playing from about 1:30 till 5:00'.
Ryan Lemond
Clock. No break.
Shannon
Straight through about three and a half hour show.
Matt Jones
So 1:30 to 5:00'.
Ryan Lemond
Clock.
Shannon
Yeah, yeah.
Mario
That's.
Shannon
That's how we do it at Tin
Ryan Lemond
Roofs post game party, right?
Matt Jones
That's right. Yep. You're singing for three and a half hours straight.
Shannon
We did four hours last year after standing here.
Mario
Now you just live on this stage.
Shannon
Yeah, yeah. I'll just take a nap here and be with you in a couple hours.
Matt Jones
Well, I will do my post game show and then I will come watch some of your. Some of your games do.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
That's unbelievable. We've got a couple here in the crowd. Where are Susan and Darren? Where's Susan and Darren? Back there. That is their. It is their 38th anniversary. Give them big round of applause back there today. That's nice. This woman right here told me. What was your sister's name? Margaret. Margaret was asleep in the bed cuz she was too tired. Margaret, you are a lightweight. According to your sister for not getting out of bed and getting here. Come on, Marge. What are you doing? Margaret, one person writes, Matt, I'm disappointed in you. You missed a classic rhinism.
Ryan Lemond
Oh.
Matt Jones
And it was right in your wheelhouse. He said the jury rests.
Mario
He did say that.
Matt Jones
That is true. That's not. It's the prosecution rest. Yeah, the jury's actually making the decision.
Ryan Lemond
Let me try one more time. The prosecution rests.
Mario
There it was.
Matt Jones
Better. Better. 859-280-2287 the USA baseball team. Ryan, you got to be happy. They end up making the next round because Italy beat Mexico by over five runs. So it actually worked out for them.
Ryan Lemond
I know. We were following it. Yes. Last night at dinner and there was a point where I think you realize, wait a minute, if Italy wins this, Kentucky.
Matt Jones
Kentucky is it. Kentucky made it because all the other
Shannon
states too made it.
Matt Jones
That's right. So USA Baseball hangs on even though they lost to the Italian.
Mario
I, I wasn't up to speed on this. I wasn't on the show yesterday. Like the manager didn't he like kind of chill and put in subs and thought they were good and we kind of were back against the wall at the.
Matt Jones
No, we just lost.
Mario
I thought there was a moment where they thought they were good though.
Matt Jones
They thought they had won but he just didn't know. But they, they lost the game eight to Nothing. So they were. They weren't gonna make it, but he. He thought he had the math wrong and he thought they made it. But anyway, now we're in there. They have. They have made it. Who's up next? Andrew is next. Andrew, Go ahead, Andrew.
Caller
What's up?
Matt Jones
Go for it, Andrew.
Caller
I've got a question for you, Matt. I've got a question. So I want you to talk about one thing. What about our guy Brandon Garrison coming in with the clutch three yesterday?
Matt Jones
Well, we've talked a lot about that. He. He hit big shots, clearly, for us, had the guts to take him, which he's always had. And now I have to ride a bull tonight because. Or. Well, yeah, I'm not gonna do it tonight, probably tomorrow, but I will. I will ride a bull.
Mario
I think tonight's a good.
Matt Jones
I don't think tonight.
Mario
Come on. Should he do it tonight?
Ryan Lemond
Yes.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I still have to work.
Shannon
Good bull riding, right?
Ryan Lemond
We work. We didn't talk about Brandon's. Brandon's big game at rup. His son was there. His son was there yesterday.
Matt Jones
Is the son there today?
Mario
I gotta tell y', all, his son was a star. He couldn't have been happier. I think Tyler Thompson tweeted a photo where. I don't know if it's Brandon's mom. Someone in the family is holding him up. I mean, we need him at every game. He is a big part of the fan base, and yesterday was fun to watch him.
Matt Jones
You know, he frustrates. He frustrates the heck out of me all the time. But I will say this. He is actually a really good kid who. I think he loves being here and he loves wearing the uniform. I mean, again, he drives me crazy sometimes, but I'm glad to see him having a good game because Ryan, he does love being a Kentucky player, maybe as much as anybody on the team.
Ryan Lemond
And you can tell the way Coach Pope talks about him. Coach Pope loves him as well. They love Brandon Garrison. And if he's able to bring this again tonight, today, look, he's got it.
Matt Jones
Listen, sometimes a guy can make a run and completely change the perception of the. I mean, I want you to think about how we look at the Harrison twins now. People Forget that in 2014, before that tournament, they were two of the most criticized players I can ever remember. And then Aaron Harrison goes on that run, and now the Harrison twins are two of the most beloved players. And that that tournament run was a big part of it.
Mario
My wheels are turning. Harrison Garrison. Harrison Garrison. Are we doing this? Are we about to do this. Is this gonna be a Brandon Garrison run?
Matt Jones
Yeah. I've got to figure out what's. Mario can help me figure out if he were to go for 10 again tonight.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Then what would I do?
Shannon
The bull has to ride you.
Matt Jones
I don't know what that means.
Mario
I actually know some places in Nashville we could make that happen.
Ryan Lemond
Goodness.
Matt Jones
Let's just move on. Who's up next?
Ryan Lemond
I did not say that. By the way. Got Roger up next.
Matt Jones
Roger. Go ahead, Roger.
Caller
Yeah. Thanks for taking my call. Lipset. What I was wanting to see what y' all thought about. The Euro guy started the game yesterday and scored seven of the first nine points. And before this game started, I said to a guy beside me, I said, I guarantee you Pope's gonna substitute at least three guys before the five minute mark. And four. Four minutes he. Here he goes. Take the year old guy out and just leaves him out. You could tell he was frustrated. Really make a difference in this team if he would play more. A lot more than what he.
Matt Jones
So I mean I. I got mixed thoughts on that. I agree with you. Yovich was hot. Drew. I would have probably left him in because he was hot. He scored seven. But I will note he probably gave up seven because his. His defense, he cannot. He could not guard the big for LSU last night. He just couldn't. I think there are games where he can. Yeah. But he also got beat a lot and he got. And he got. He didn't help. Like there's a reason why he and Moreno said a lot of that game was defensively. I appreciate the call.
Mario
I'm his biggest fan. I. I get credit for the Chandler fan club. I also started the Yellow Vich fan club and I want him to have more minutes. I wish he had gotten more run from the beginning, but he is flawed. Yesterday he was hot. I wish he had stayed in. But there are moments where you can't play him and there are a few times.
Matt Jones
The problem is it goes back to what I was saying. I wish he didn't with Marine, with Moreno together, they're both kind of soft and I wish they would pair one of the tougher guys with them. I actually think it would give them both an advantage. We'll take a break and be right back here at Tin Roof. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live at Tin Roof. Great crowd here as always. There is gear in the back. UK gear, KSR gear. You can get get from Kentucky brand. It's sponsored by Burnt Tavern Bourbon that Shannon's inviting everybody to his room for after it's over. And Clayton and croom for your leather and your belt accessories. I have got mine on as well. 859-280-2287 Text machine 7727745254 uh, we've got a bunch of people here who there want shout outs but I'm going to just say shout out to everybody that made the true trip. And I posted Mario and I posted the note for Jackson on our Twitter. If you would like, you can mark Jackson's name out and use it for your kid as well, Shannon, so that your kid can also skip and be here.
Shannon
Parents all across the state now hate you for that because that's exactly what kids are going to be doing who are listening right now.
Matt Jones
One person writes. Matt, I have a stat for you. This is by Johnny and Brett. Colin Chandler has worn an undershirt in his last three games and is only averaged four points a game. But the five games before that, he did not wear an undershirt and average 15.8 points per game. Tell Colin Chandler to take off his undershirt and he will play better.
Mario
I'm glad you said that. Yesterday I was watching him and I had a thought. I was like, does he always wear that T shirt? I didn't know there was an actual stat for for it.
Matt Jones
So it's good to hear the goose here. Carrie. Now, you know, it's a big game. Carrie, Bruce has made this shirt says is coming off. Yeah, you're good. Let Colin Chandler borrow your shirt. Who's up next? Adam is up next. Adam, Go ahead, Adam.
Caller
Hey, what's up, Matt? You had a caller yesterday call in and say that, you know, at least Kentucky was better than South Carolina, which I thought was an odd standard until I realized what he was talking about. You know, South Carolina was once the worst 7 seed in the history of college baske.
Matt Jones
They were the worst seven. They were the worst seven seed and they had the luckiest run to the final four of all time. You're exactly right.
Ryan Lemond
So.
Caller
So if we're better than them, you know, we've got a chance to make the final four. So the jury rest.
Matt Jones
The jury does rest. I appreciate the call. Yeah. Here's the good thing about this Kentucky team this year, we frustrate on the net or focus on the negative. The positive. Drew, they have shown that they can beat almost anybody outside of the top handful of teams. And if they win today, they'll have a chance to show they can beat the bet one of the best teams but they have shown they won at Arkansas, Tennessee, etc. So you get into the tournament, you can go into any game and think you have a shot to win it.
Mario
And whatever seed they're going to be price seven, they're better than their resume. We all remember November and December sucked. Let's not even act like that was fun. But they turned a corner when they got to SEC play. I think they're better than what their seed will suggest. I still think they're better than a non seed even though that's our circumstances and you just get a little bit of momentum. I worry about the grind of the postseason. This isn't a fatigue joke just in general having a thin roster, but I mean their ceiling is just. It's not as high as the top top but it's higher than what their seed suggests.
Matt Jones
Let's talk about Missouri that they play today. Ryan. I would argue the Missouri game might have been the low point of the season. Right? We, we were. We had gotten destroyed by Gonzaga, we beat St. John's and you think, okay, here we go. Then we play Alabama. Get destroyed, you get Missouri at home and it's a game that you think, okay, well we're going to win this one. We are up. If you remember in the Missouri game, we're up eight with three minutes and 20 seconds to go. Up eight at home, three minutes to 20, 20 seconds to go and we blow the game. I don't remember a lot about their team, but I remember at that moment thinking this season might be we might not make the tournament. Now's a chance to kind of reverse course and win.
Ryan Lemond
I think you actually said that on the after the game that that may be a game we point back to. Said that cost us a certain seed or something, whatever in the tournament.
Matt Jones
I thought it was going to keep us out of the tournament. Now we ended up pulling off some upsets to not allow to make that happen. But I did.
Ryan Lemond
Our starting five for that Missouri game was OA Aberdeen, Diabate Low and Quaintance. That was Jaden Quaint's last game.
Matt Jones
Oh, that's right, it was.
Ryan Lemond
Colin Chandler played five minutes. Yellow bitch didn't play at all. And now these guys are getting some major. So we're a completely different team than we played them in January.
Matt Jones
That's a really good point. I mean you did have low. Was that the game? That's the game Logan hurt, right?
Shannon
It might have been.
Mario
I was. That's one of the only home games I Didn't go to.
Matt Jones
I think, look, if I'm correct, isn't that the game he got hurt right at the beginning.
Ryan Lemond
Well, I know. I don't know because Jasper didn't play either. Like Jasper and Trent and Yellow Bitch did not even play.
Matt Jones
I think that's the game. Low got hurt right at the start and then it was just. Also ended up being the last game Quaint played as well also.
Mario
I mean, you shouldn't need motivation in March, but I hope there's a little bit of chip on their shoulder with a memory of them coming into Rupp arena on K. Woods Court kicking your butt. I. You shouldn't need that extra juice today, but I hope that lingers a little bit to give him a little extra juice going into it.
Caller
I.
Ryan Lemond
For.
Matt Jones
For Kentucky, it's not a must win, but I think for this fan base and what, you know, Nashville's not been great to us the last few years. Shannon, I think winning this game, going and playing Florida, just the excitement of that Friday game and then, you know, who knows what will happen in it. But if we could do that, I think it would be massive for this team.
Shannon
And we get Florida one more time. I mean, they've, you know, at times played Florida close. I mean, not last game, but I think that they can still hang with Florida if they get them a third time.
Mario
The thing with Florida is we've lost the first few minutes and then played them right. Like we're basically even the last 35 minutes. But both games, they just got up to a huge cushion you couldn't overcome.
Matt Jones
Who's up next?
Ryan Lemond
Isaac.
Matt Jones
Isaac. Go ahead, Isaac.
Caller
Hey, guys. So I called you yesterday about BAM scoring 83 and 8 minus 3 is 5. So the numbers were adding up. I know you guys are skeptical, but if I'm. I remember correct. We won yesterday, 87 to 82. 87 minus 82 is 5. So the number keeps going up. Signs are there. And then. Then I heard the person in the crowd that their 38th anniversary, 3 minus 8 is negative 5. So, I mean, it's just. It's showing up everywhere. I think. I think the signs are there.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I. I would love for that to be true. I don't know if. If it is. What's the spread today for this American? So Kentucky is a 3 1/2 point favorite. Drew. I feel like that's about right. We're better than this team. I know we lost. I know we lost to him at home, but we are better than Missouri, who honestly has been wildly inconsistent a Lot of the year.
Mario
I mean, just look, look here. I was here yesterday. It's a home game. I know it's Missouri. They had a better year. They be in Rupp. But this is Kentucky basketball. We're going to have 95% of the crowd today. You had a good game yesterday. Just keep moving forward. A lot of faith in winning the whole damn thing, but we should beat Missouri.
Matt Jones
Well, let me hear how loud this crowd's going to be when you're at the game today. Okay, so that's like. That's like. That's like a lose at the brother buzzer crowd. Let's see what. What is our actually beating Missouri crowd sound like that'? I genuinely think this crowd can. Can be the difference in the game. My buddies went to the game yesterday and we're talking about just the acoustics of that building, etc. That building can get much louder, Shannon, than Rupp arena gets. For instance, when it gets going.
Shannon
Yeah, you could hear it through the broadcast yesterday, the Go Big Blue chant. So, yeah, there's no doubt this fan base gets definitely make a difference in this game today.
Matt Jones
And there will be eight people yelling really loudly in Section 330, three of which I'm one of them screaming from the top.
Mario
And to my point about how the Nashville crowd's different, there are a few people. If you're at the game yesterday, you saw them. Hell, they might be in the crowd. There are some people that just pace and yell at the refs for 40 minutes.
Matt Jones
You're looking at it.
Mario
One guy was across from me. I don't even know your name, sir. But keep that energy today. It's just a different animal than the lower level. I love our sweaters. I love that they're rich. I love that you've had season tickets for 300 years and your great grandparents handed them down to you. But this is just a different beast.
Matt Jones
It's just when you get into Bridgestone
Mario
and anyone can sit in the lower.
Matt Jones
It is a better crowd. Although you don't have to disparage the sweaters at Rupp Arena.
Mario
Who's a lot of them? I love them, but Nashville's better. I'll say it to their faces.
Matt Jones
Who's up next?
Ryan Lemond
Micah is next.
Matt Jones
Micah, Go ahead, Micah.
Caller
I just want to say when Brandon Garrison hit the first couple shots, he really gets going. And then that's what. That's his key right there. He misses, he gets down and does some dumb plays. And that's Brand Garrison hang out with.
Matt Jones
Appreciate the call. I would love to see him do it again. And if he does, I know I'll be happy. And I've still got to figure out what my second thing would be if he gets double digits again. We will take a break and be right back and come to the final segment. This is Kentucky Sports Radio live here at ksr.
Advertiser/Commercial Voice

CJ Toledano
This week on Point Game with me, CJ Toledono and Isaiah Thomas. We're doing a live Q and A and it talks about what it was like playing for the Celtics while him and his dad both grew up lifelong Lakers fans. Take a listen.
Matt Jones
I'm always going to be a Laker fan. That's just what I grew up on. So like when I, when I was in Boston, it's just, you just can't say nothing. Lakers, you can't say nothing. La that's the only, that's the only downside of it. But it was like at least my Kobe's was green. Like they wasn't tripping it. You know, my Kobe's wasn't green. But I don't know, it's a weird dynamic. But I got love for the Celtics, obviously. But I got real love for the Lakers and I let that be known while I was there too. So that couldn't be that mad at me. I just was going for the Celtics when I was on the Celtics.

Ryan Lemond
You got.
Matt Jones
How's the how's the wine coming?
Ryan Lemond
Oh, that's always good.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Well good. I'm glad. Glad to mark that march energy. Shannon, man, a few words. That's exact. That's exactly right. Let's do our draft kings pick. So let's pick the other SEC games today. How many of you are going to all four games today? Not many. It's. It's a hardy group. The night session is actually pretty terrible tonight. Oklahoma versus A and M, who you got?
Shannon
I think Texas A and M wins this one.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, I go with A and M. They're probably a better team. Yeah.
Mario
A and M. Excuse me. Buckyball Will. Will win that one.
Matt Jones
I'll take Oklahoma to pull off an upset and win two straight. Ole Miss, Georgia. Travis Perry played 23 minutes yesterday. Zero points.
Shannon
Yeah. Yeah. Give me Georgia on this one.
Ryan Lemond
I'm going chalk taking Georgia ran into
Mario
the Perry's last night. Lyon county just won Region 2 and double OT. I'm riding with the Perrys and Ole Miss.
Matt Jones
I'm pulling for him. Lyon county did make the sweet 16. I want to see Travis play well. I hope he gets some shots today. I will pick Georgia. Auburn, Tennessee. Big game. Yeah. Auburn wins probably in the NCAA tournament. If they lose they'll be sweating and probably be the last in or out.
Shannon
This is probably going to be the game of the day as far as like how close it is. I'm going to say Tennessee pulls out a close one at the end.
Ryan Lemond
Is Nate Amen playing?
Matt Jones
Nate Amen is playing? Yes.
Ryan Lemond
If he plays, I'm picking Tennessee.
Mario
Stephen Pearl takes down his alma mater.
Matt Jones
I'm going to take Auburn to win and make it to the NCAA tournament. By the way, it's a big game for Bob and Jamestown in the Miami of Ohio fans.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Because if Miami of Ohio does not win the tournament, Auburn winning this game or not might be the difference in them making the tournament because their resumes are kind of right there. So it'll be price some. What is it Red Hawks cheering for? Cheering for. For Tennessee today. Who's up next? Alvin is up next. Alvin. Go ahead Alvin.
Caller
Hey Matt, how you doing? I think that this game today against Missouri is going to be bench players are going to have to play significantly in this game. I think BG is going to have to have the same energy that he brought yesterday to put you on that board. I think that the energy is going to have to come from the bench. The starters are going to have to log a whole bunch of minutes. We're going to have to play 3 cents 3 defense where we deny the 3 point shots, don't give guys comfortable looks around the arc and I think we'll win this game 83 to 78.
Matt Jones
I agree with the three point shooting. That's been bad issue for them in the last few games. If you back against the first in the, in the game in Lexington, they hit a bunch of threes. I think that's important for me. A guy that's got to have a big game. Malachi's got to play well. You know, as good as Malachi has been this year there, he, he really the last few games hasn't played great either. Malachi, we've talked a lot about Chandler, but I want to see Moreno get back to where he's been.
Mario
Yeah, I hope his eyes okay from that guy trying to knock him out yesterday.
Matt Jones
It got swollen.
Mario
Yeah, it looks rough. I, I Malachi needs to play well. But like we saw yesterday with Garrison, someone on the bench and realistically it's probably not Garrison today, but someone has to contribute. I'm honestly looking at Trent Noah because he played zero minutes. I don't know, I'm not a foot expert. I have feet, but I don't know a lot about them. I don't know what Cam Williams can do today. I think maybe this might be a sneaky Trent Noah come in and get a few points game.
Matt Jones
Trent Noah needs to, to do it for Lindley back there who said that she was, he was her favorite player. I agree. If Cam doesn't play and they said at the beginning of the tournament he might be play one game, not play the other. Ryan, this Trent Noah may need to come hit some shots.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. Because Williams actually played more minutes yesterday than I thought he would.
Matt Jones
I thought he ended up playing like
Ryan Lemond
13 minutes which is kind of more than I thought. But he did provide a little spark. Trent can do that today. We've seen that happen. Come in, knock down a shot, but get those rebounds. Rebounds that he's been and this is
Matt Jones
actually, actually a team that athletically I do think Shannon Trent Noah can play. There are some teams that I don't think he, he really works. I actually think he can play in this game.
Shannon
I could definitely see him getting some quality minutes today. But I'm looking at the three headed goat and one of the heads on the goat has been asleep the last couple of days.
Matt Jones
Yeah, aoc, the tree hasn't been very good.
Shannon
So we need Colin Chandler, I think to step up big today.
Matt Jones
That's exactly right. Who's up next?
Ryan Lemond
Jake?
Matt Jones
Jamie is Next, Jamie. Go ahead, Jamie.
Caller
Yes, sir. Guys, we need Ryan to pull a rabbit out of the hat today like he did in Madisonville when he done that on the closeout show down there. Have him to do that down there.
Matt Jones
No, no, no, no.
Caller
Get everybody pumped up and going and give that lady, that elderly 84 or 89 year old lady down there a thrill. So that's all I got.
Matt Jones
Go CH Appreciate it. I'll let him give Judy a thrill a little bit later in the show. Like they can do that privately in Shannon's hotel room with the Burt Tavern bourbon if they would like. I think that would be. I think that's when we would. We would want that.
Shannon
You could have my room if that's the case.
Matt Jones
Let me ask you, Mark Pope. Mark Pope said yesterday, he said we came down here with the goal of winning five and four. Five, one down, four to go. We've had many frustrations with Mark Pope. One thing I like about him, Drew, and I do love it, is that he takes this tournament seriously, that he wants to win this tournament whether we do or not. I do like having a coach that does that because this tournament matters to me. People can say they don't matter, but I think this event for this group of fans matters.
Mario
I mean, we're looking at the group what matters to. Obviously, obviously that's part of the reason why it soured with the last regime is this just wasn't working in the SEC tournament. You know, as fans, maybe we're not the most optimistic for winning the damn thing, but you want your head coach to speak like that, you want your players to believe it. So I'm glad they came in here with the right attitude and we'll see what can happen.
Matt Jones
We will see. All right, let's get. Let's make some predictions. Kentucky plays plain Missouri. It is at 12:30. Our post game show will be on after. Shannon will be doing right here at Tin Roof. He'll be playing as soon as the show ends.
Ryan Lemond
Yep.
Matt Jones
I'll be doing the postgame show. Cats are a 3 1/2 point favorite. If they win, they play tomorrow at 1:00'.
CJ Toledano
Clock.
Matt Jones
Will be the game tomorrow. It's actually 30 minutes later. If they win. Kentucky a 3 1/2 point favourite. Shannon, we'll get started with you. Give me the score and who you think the MVP will.
Shannon
Not only do I think Kentucky wins today, I think they cover as well. So I'm gonna go Cat 78, 71 again. I'm gonna go back to Colin C.H.
Matt Jones
chandler.
Shannon
I think he's got to play a big part of this game. He's going to be my MVP.
Matt Jones
How many points for Colin Chandler today?
Shannon
I'll go 12.
Matt Jones
He's going to be the MVP with 12 points?
Shannon
Well, I mean, just him stepping. He doesn't necessarily have to score the most points. I'm just talking about a guy that's going to be critical to. To winning the game.
Ryan Lemond
Ryan, is Tom Hart doing the game?
Mario
He is.
Ryan Lemond
I think he's a Missouri grad.
Matt Jones
I actually think he's not, but go ahead.
Ryan Lemond
We're going to make Tom Hart cry. The fighting time. Tom Hart's cry. Kentucky wins. 77, 76. I got the dude shirt on. Colin Chandler after. You can't keep a good Mormon down.
Matt Jones
He just picked.
Ryan Lemond
I gotta pick him. I got his shirt on today.
Mario
He's picking him.
Matt Jones
All right. I guess he's not gonna follow the rules. Drew Franklin.
Mario
Missouri's good, Mitchell's tough. But I was there yesterday and I'm looking at a lot of fans that are gonna be in there making a lot of noise. This is a home game. It's actually better than a home game. I think that puts Kentucky over the the top. They win 79, 78. He's not going to be the leading scorer, but I'm going to will a Trent Noah 3 into existence. So when he bangs one, please tweet me. Trent Noah is going to score some points that matter.
Matt Jones
All right. For me, this game, this is a huge game for Kentucky both in terms of getting it set for the NCAA tournament and psychologically, we have not owned this tournament like we're used to in the last five or six years. We're going to have a massive crowd tear today. I'd say we'll have a 15 to 1 advantage when it comes to fans. If Kentucky can win, I think they lock up a six seed in the NCAA tournament, which allows them a chance to get to maybe have a shot to play in the second weekend. It also sets up a game against Florida tomorrow where I genuinely think Kentucky could pull off the upset. But first, you got to win today, get a good start. I think this is a Kentucky game at their best. I think they come out, I think they pound on Missouri early and they end up winning by 10. I'll take Kentucky 78, 68 and the Cavs will move on and then play tomorrow. And I will take Ortega away, scoring 24 points again as the MVP. Thank you all very much. You come every year to this show. You pack this place, give yourselves a big round of applause. The Cats are going to take down the Tigers. We'll see you later. This has been Kentucky Sports Radio.
