Friday the 13th packed house in Nashville, Tennessee at the SEC tournament where Kentucky today plays for the third time this year against the Florida Gators. It is an amazing crowd here at Tin Roof and we're ready to go. You can give us a shout on the Clark's Pump and shot phone line and 859-280-2287, a Vision Auto Glass text machine, 772-774-5254. In this edition sponsored by the TJ Smith Law Office, if you call TJ he'll make him pay. Guys, let me hear hear you right for everybody back in Kentucky, an absolutely packed house. And I have to tell you, Drew, you know, we originally our plan was not to do the show here today at Tin Roof. We were going to do it back at the house. And then yesterday we saw such a sea of blue out there. I go, well, we can't not do it. So here we are to be in front of this crowd.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And it is an absolutely packed.
Drew Franklin
I love being back. I was just thinking I need to spend a little more time in a tin roof on this trip. So it's good to see everyone. And I know last night a second wave of Kentucky fans came in for this game. So I'm expecting we already have a great group here and plenty more on the way. And I'll be at the game.
Matt Jones
Yeah, the I will say I at first it was kind of like you said on Wednesday. At first the game, I thought, well, there's not as many people here. I'm not sure. And then all of a sudden it got in. And then there were huge moments in that game yesterday, Ryan, where that was because of the fan base. It got so loud.
Ryan Lemond
It kind of felt like old school SEC tournament again when, yeah, the energy in the, in the arena, the fan base getting behind Kentucky, they started to make a run and you can feel it. There's just a different feeling and energy up down the street than we've had last couple years down here in Nashville.
Matt Jones
That's right. Our trip to the SEC tournament is sponsored by Clayton and Craig Croom and Burt Tavern Brewing and Cats yesterday beat Missouri. A little bit of a sad stat, but nevertheless, we're going to turn that down a little bit. That's going to no doubt reverberate through the thing. A little bit of a sad stat, but Kentucky won their second game in the SEC tournament for only the first time since 2018 yesterday. But they did win it, and it was a huge win, I think, for the Cats, not just the fan base seating, etc. Drew, I think this was a massive one.
Drew Franklin
Absolutely. And you know, I'm not surrendering anything to Florida today, but I will say it's been good to at least avoid worst case scenario. We've already had a lot of fun. I mean, we're going to go beat them today, but all those nightmares we had of what could have happened, we're past that. Kentucky handled its business through two games.
Ryan Lemond
You know, we. We said all week, just get us to Friday. Then let's just see how it plays out. That old adage, it's hard to beat a team three times. We saw it last night. Ole Miss came in and beat it. Beat the Georgia last night. Georgia beat him twice. So. No, it was Oklahoma. Oklahoma beat Texas after Texas beat him twice.
Matt Jones
Oklahoma, you're gonna get the game. Yeah, Oklahoma beat Texas A and M. Otherwise, you know, you've named all the teams except the one. Yes, but they did beat them the third time last year. Of course, we played Alabama in this situation. It didn't work out. But let's talk about the game yesterday to kind of get started. Kentucky. It was a lot like the first game against Missouri. Got a big lead, feels like we're in good shape, and then all of a sudden just falls apart. Mark Mitchell, the big man for Missouri, gets. I mean, he turns into Patrick Ewing for a few minutes, we cannot stop him. They actually take the lead. And then you saw what. You did not see it rubbering at the beginning of the year. The team, the fight in the last three minutes. They get defensive stops away. Aberdeen make big plays at the basket, and they end up pulling out the.
Drew Franklin
Oh, yeah, I'll say it because we're all friends here. When Missouri went up at two and a half left, I thought. I thought it was curtains for Kentucky. It just wasn't feeling right. But as you said, they made the plays. Aberdeen had a lot of tough buckets. He and Owe scored most of the points down the stretch, made their free throws. So it was a little More nerve wracking than we wanted it to be and certainly more than we thought it'd be at halftime when you had the lead. But at least they got it done and proved they can make the winning plays in the end.
Matt Jones
The big plays, there were three plays down the stretch that were huge. First of all, they miss a open shot. Diabate gets the rebound. Then they miss another wide open. A wide open three by oa. Aberdeen gets a massive rebound and gets fouled. That gives us a one point lead. He makes those free throws. We talked about it. Ryan. There is not a player that. There are very few players we've had that I feel better at the free throw line than Aberdeen down the stretch. He has not missed a free throw in the last three minutes of the game all season. That is amazing if you think about it.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, he's money at the line. Just give him, give him all the smoke and he's going to take it. Made the shot there the end of the game. But I think I feel like the two biggest plays of the game were the two defensive stops. When OA doubled down with Brandon Garrison on Mitchell. I felt like those two stops right
Matt Jones
there, well, that was going to be my two, but I was doing the one at a time. But the, the second biggest thing to me were the defensive place. Mitchell was absolutely destroying us in the post. Not just in the post, hitting threes. I mean, whatever we did didn't work. Then they called timeout. Pope said in the post game press conference he decided to send away to double both times away. The first time shades at it, the guy goes the other way, misses the shot. Second time he reaches in and smacks it away after having no defense for 17 minutes. They got it on those last two play.
Drew Franklin
Always help. Defense was huge. And then Garrison, I know, you know, I don't think he took a shot yesterday. So it wasn't quite the BG time that it was Wednesday, but he had, yeah, four. But he had some huge stops. It was big. He and Marino were doing that with four fouls there at the end because the front, Missouri's front court, it was just putting them through so much pain earlier in the game.
Matt Jones
And then away and Aberdeen down the stretch, both go and score huge buckets. You know those guys, we can, we, we've talked about Ryan. They can take bad shots. They can sometimes frustrate you. They can sometimes you go, well, why don't they share the ball? But again, with two or three minutes to go, those guys going to the basket, it's. They've had so much success with that all season.
Ryan Lemond
I was so mad at Aberdeen earlier in the game. We had the big lead and he starts playing like we're behind instead of playing like we have the lead. He came down, jacked up a couple shots early in the shot clock. But you're right when it's crunch time, you put the ball in those two guys hands and just let him, let him cook, let him get to the free throw line. They're going to nail it.
Matt Jones
And I do think this crowd had a huge impact on the game, especially when it was 73, 70 after the O way play and they get the ball. It was loud in that arena. It was loud. And you could see the Missouri players I think get a little shaken. Mitchell, as good as he is, I thought he moved a little quick kind of because he was a little distracted. And that's when oh, we got the slap. This crowd played a huge advantage. I mean, Mo Diabatte said no offense. I think this crowd's better than the ones sometimes when we have him in Lexington. And I agree with that.
Drew Franklin
I said that on the show yesterday after Wednesday's game. It's just such a huge advantage down here for Kentucky. And we wondered with this year not going the way we all probably wanted there in the beginning and we might have limped into this a little bit. To have the crowd will them through the end the way they did yesterday was just awesome to see and good to know BBN hadn't slowed down at all.
Matt Jones
Well, I think it's huge for seeding. I think Kentucky is now certainly a seven seed. That makes sure you, you avoid the one in the second round so you can get one of the two seeds. I think if they win today they'll get up to a six seed. At which point I actually really think you could make a run. I mean, if you, if you're sort of taking the most optimistic view about Kentucky this season, a win today I think sets up the scenario where you can have exactly what you would hope for. Maybe in the most optimistic view since we got blown out by Gonzaga.
Ryan Lemond
That's why it was such a huge win yesterday. You're right to secure that seed next week in the NCAA tournament. You're talking about that difference between just a six and a seven is a huge difference.
Matt Jones
It's a huge difference. It's a huge difference. You're going to go from playing like if you're a 6 seed, you'll play like a Miami of Ohio or a vcu if you're a seven Seed. You're playing teams from major conferences that are good. Drew. And then in the second round the difference between Iowa State or Nebraska versus UConn or Houston is a massive difference.
Drew Franklin
That and you're starting to play well. We haven't talked about it a ton but adding Cam Williams to give them a little depth and to get away from the fatigue. Maybe you can spell some guys a few more minutes now with him joining the lineup and that three point shooting. I know it was the two games ago but him hit his first three as he came in. I've been out for a month. That was big. And having him back is going to be huge. Whatever they do next.
Matt Jones
Did you think Brandon Garrison goaltended at the end?
Ryan Lemond
It was 100%.
Matt Jones
Did not go to it. That was completely clean.
Drew Franklin
I We finally get a home whistle here in Nashville.
Matt Jones
We asked for it at rough. I think we got. That was a big play it because it was a three point game that would have made it one and they got that wrong.
Ryan Lemond
They showed the replay and the replay. It was obvious it was on his way down. It was a goal 10. But they can't review it. Right. Because they didn't call it a go.
Matt Jones
When you in order to review it they have to call it a goal 10 and they didn't do that. See, I always think that's a weird rule because he actually knocked it out of bounds. So the reason they don't review it is the play continues. But it didn't continue at that point. And so it was odd.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. With the stoppage you think they could. But there was also a moment late. I think. Did we travel maybe get away with it? I know their coach ran all the way down the court to yell at the ref when we were trying to put it away. But that's fine. That's all right.
Matt Jones
Was that Chandler?
Drew Franklin
I think so.
Matt Jones
I think Chandler just good to have
Drew Franklin
the whistle on our side for once.
Matt Jones
Let's talk about Chandler hit two threes one in the second half. That was. Was. Was big. Nice to see him make a couple and kind of get going.
Ryan Lemond
Well, because he didn't wear his T shirt. He took the shirt off and he had a normal Chandler game yesterday.
Matt Jones
Yes. He was asked about that after the game. He said the T shirt doesn't have anything to do with it. We'll see if he comes out in the T shirt today.
Ryan Lemond
I don't know.
Drew Franklin
Colin Chandler Handler. The numbers suggest that the T shirt really has something to do with it. So he might not believe it but the stats Back it up.
Matt Jones
So Kentucky plays Florida today. I just got a question for the crowd. What percentage of you think we can win the game today?
Ryan Lemond
Oh, nice.
Matt Jones
I like it. I know this sound. I did not. I definitely didn't think we were going to win in Gainesville. I really didn't think we were going to win in Lexington. I do think we have a shot today. I think that, you know, one of the things if you look at tournaments when you've played and they have not as long as you're not like, like think about yesterday. Every team that won yesterday, except one played the day before and the one that didn't win, Auburn had a huge lead and just gave it up. You almost had a scenario where all four teams starting yesterday lost. I think today Kentucky has a chance. The key though is they got a drew get to halftime within five points. We cannot be down double digits at half against Florida or we just will have no shot.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, and with Florida, it's really the opening stretch has killed them. Both games for like the last 35 minutes of both those losses. Kentucky and Florida were pretty even. I think even the second half they were tied. But in Gainesville, you had Lee start off hot. I think they went up 10. Oh, and then in Rupp arena they got off to a big start. So if you can just not let them get out in that 100110 beginning like they have been, I think you can hang with them.
Matt Jones
I also think, you know, look, this crowd is bigger than it was yesterday, which was bigger than it was the day before. If you were to win today, then I think tomorrow this place would be absolutely flooded with UK fans. I mean just to give you an example on ticket prices. So I told you get in price on Wednesday was $8. Get in price yesterday at the end of this show was $45. The get in price right now at least on my way to the show today was $145. So it does seem like Ryan, you're gonna get a loud crowd. Now part of that is Tennessee and Vandy play right after us today. So that is part of what it's going to be as well.
Ryan Lemond
We've talked about this SEC crowd down here is long overdue to celebrate. Long overdue to go up and down Broadway there all weekend if we can get to the weekend. Just when's the last time we went to the weekend? 2018, right?
Matt Jones
2019.
Ryan Lemond
2019.
Matt Jones
I mean it's been the last time we won two games. Was 2018 the last time we've been to the weekend was 2019.
Ryan Lemond
I mean, all the pressure's on Florida, isn't it? I mean, we can go out and just play loose and just play basketball today.
Matt Jones
I don't. I mean, they're probably going to be a one seed either way. I. I don't really think there's any pressure on them. I think the pressure. There's really no pressure. But this is a game where Kentucky, I think, could get away. And look, you win today, if you win. If you win today, tomorrow, you've beaten both of those teams this year, there's no reason to go, hey, why not go win the whole thing?
Drew Franklin
Oh, if we win today, we're winning the whole damn thing. Let's just get over this hump. Nice little pop there. Just get over this hump. Sure, they've got this twice. There's the old cliche, you can't do it three times. What was the tournament? We were going up against Florida. James Young slipped, We're down by one, and had a moment to get him there. So this is going to be redemption for 2014.
Matt Jones
And that 2014, that was kind of the start of the turnaround. I mean, if you remember, they. They squeezed by in the first round, they squeezed by in the second round, played Florida in the finals, played them right to the buzzer. James Young slipped, and all of a sudden the team got belief and then went to the championship game in the inside ncaa. So you. There's a lot on the line today. The big thing, though, their bigs have absolutely destroyed us in both games in the second half. Our bigs have to play better. Moreno's got to be stronger, right? I mean, that our bigs got. I know we made the plays at the end, but they got overwhelmed yesterday and they've got to play better today.
Ryan Lemond
Malachi can't get in foul trouble early. He needs to stay on the floor. And Modiabate, he's the guy that's kind of the only guy that can muscle up with him a little bit.
Matt Jones
He's.
Ryan Lemond
He'll probably play a lot of minutes today just for that reason.
Matt Jones
No, Diabot, they will play a ton. By the way, Diabate talked about this. Think about this. He got up in the morning. I think he said it like. I think his awakening time was like. Or, excuse me, his fasting time. He had to finish eating at 7:13 in the morning. Yesterday he could not eat or drink any fluids until 6:51pm so he played that whole game, no water, okay? No anything. And then it's. He said in the Post game at 6:51 I will scarf down all the food in the world. I mean that's pretty amazing. And now he's gonna be on his third day in a row of that today.
Drew Franklin
And I love when he was asked, I mean 6:51 not like I'm waiting till 7. Yeah I think Pope even said they'll be in the middle of film and they're looking forward to getting Mo some food there while they're doing it.
Matt Jones
651 so he will be doing that again today. 859-280-2287 we are here at Tin Roof. A massive crowd of Kentucky fans ready to go. We got a surprise coming here in about 30 minutes. We will take a break and be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.

Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live at Tin Roof in Nashville. If you're in Tin Roof if you're in Nashville, you can come up to Tin Roof, places packed, but you still. You can come upstairs, say hello. They also have a downstairs as well. Playing music. JD Shelburn is playing here when we're done, up until the game starts and maybe playing after the game as well. On this stage yesterday, Shannon the dude sang for three and a half straight hours after I by the end I could hear it in his voice. He'll be here in a minute. I couldn't believe it.
Ryan Lemond
And he was rocking and this place was rocking. After our show, fans stayed here. They weren't didn't have tickets. Watch the game
Drew Franklin
and it's not like he's just standing here at a mic stand. Yes, my man works the stage. He's just back and forth. He did some things that might have been a little R rated it looked like but he knows how to put on a show. Oh lots of it.
Matt Jones
One person writes Matt the most disappointed I've been all week was seeing Mario wearing red. I do not understand what that was like what was that yesterday walked around in red and he people, people should have been mad at you. That's the worst thing I've ever seen. This morning I was like are you wearing orange today? What is your problem? But but you know he's learning. This is only a second SEC tournament so you know it'll get better.
Ryan Lemond
Well he had to have his fit match he patch on his hood.
Matt Jones
I didn't like it. If I if I know I will also say this you Mario is staying with a group of 40 something year old men. There's like 10 of us and Mario and he is a great companion for the house. However, you can see how he's much younger. We all went to bed at midnight and we go in and then Mario goes you know what man, I think I'm going out. And he so he ended up coming home at like 3am making a lot of noise. Mario had a big one yet sometimes
Drew Franklin
you just got to do that. You know, Nashville's got a lot going on and you don't just want to stay in bed. Missing on all the fun.
Matt Jones
I I agree with you. One person writes Matt maybe our best play we have is Aberdeen driving the lane, stopping pump faking and going up. He's as good as I've seen at that. He really is. His body control. He will drive to the basket, draw the defense and most guys including most guys on our team then try to force it up. He lets the guy fly behind him then takes a shot. I think he has been so excellent at that Drew and it and he made a big one last night doing it as well. That's his move.
Drew Franklin
I mean you were bragging on his free throws earlier too. He also hadn't had more than like one turnover since January in a game since it's not multi turnover game since January.
Matt Jones
He Aberdeen has only had like six turnovers since the start of February. I mean it's an unbelievable like he
Drew Franklin
has been unbelievable playing 35 minutes. I know we miss low and you would obviously having another body would be great but I don't know that you could ask for point guard to play much better than he's played the last month or two.
Matt Jones
I totally agree with you and you know our bigs defensively they're struggling, but they're giving you points. Yes. You know, yesterday I give Moreno credit. I say this. Of course he'll miss it today. His free throw shooting when he gets fouled, he's. He's become pretty much a money free throw shooter as well.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. We haven't mentioned yellow bitch yet. He gave you some good minutes yesterday. He's kind of seemed like he's getting a little more physical as we get here into the postseason. But for Aberdeen, he's not even a point guard. He's a two guard. He has learned how to become a top notch point guard this season. Yeah.
Matt Jones
By the way, I also think you have a rare situation today where Tennessee and Vanderbilt fans who go to this game might root for us.
Ryan Lemond
You're right.
Matt Jones
I mean that's. Yeah, but what if you. If I wouldn't you root for if you were them? I mean Florida's. Florida's a lot better than we are. I think you're going to root. If I'm a Tennessee and Vanderbilt fan, Drew, I'm probably rooting for Kentucky today.
Drew Franklin
Well, let me catch one Vols fan with a tee on their shirt cheering for Kentucky. I would love to see that. I'll go up and introduce myself and welcome to the fan club.
Matt Jones
Wouldn't you? I mean but you're making a good point.
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Matt Jones
If it was Tennessee, Florida in the first game and us. Vandy, I'm rooting for Tennessee because I would think we'd have a better chance of beating them.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, I know. I completely agree. I think that's how it should be. But it just be a weird sighting seeing all that orange and they're actually rooting for Kentucky. But it makes sense on from their. Their point.
Ryan Lemond
That's a crazy world even think about.
Matt Jones
But we would do.
Ryan Lemond
We would.
Matt Jones
If we. I would.
Ryan Lemond
We would. I know it.
Matt Jones
I mean I would root for them, you know either like today if we win. I don't even know who I really want to win between those two because I think Kentucky matches up with both of them pretty well. Who's up next?
Ryan Lemond
John is up.
Matt Jones
John. Go ahead, John. Go for it, John.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Caller
Third time could be a charm, Matt.
Drew Franklin
You never know.
Matt Jones
All right, you cannot put us on speaker. You gotta talk on your phone.
Caller
I'm on the phone.
Matt Jones
Okay, go for it. You weren't.
Caller
Okay. Sorry. Third time's a charm. I think we can. We can might be able to beat him. I got them winning national championship but that don't mean we can't beat them today.
Matt Jones
I like it. Why not anything else.
Caller
No, that's about it. Just long.
Matt Jones
Okay, there you go. He just wanted to say we got a chance to beat him.
Drew Franklin
Third time's charm.
Matt Jones
Third time is. Third time's a charm. After the game, I will say Mark Pope, I thought seemed to be to be in a lot better. Like he was happy. Go lucky. He kept saying, we came here to win five in five days. Now we're up to number three. You know, he's taken criticism, he's had been second guessed. But if you, if I think today, you know, if he loses, I don't think it changes a whole lot. But if they win today, I think it's a huge notch in his belt in terms of. Because, you know, they made the Sweet 16 last year. If you go beat a Florida team that does have a chance to win the national championship, I think that's would be amazing.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. And you can see it in him and the players. I think maybe they might have been a little tight on Wednesday. First getting down here, we all had that nightmare scenario in our head if you lose that. But then they come out, they looked loose, playing free. I mean, they gave up the big lead but had a great start. So I think you go in today with some house money and just have some fun and see what happens.
Matt Jones
Thirteen and a half point underdog, by the way, Ryan, the biggest underdog Kentucky's ever been in the history of the SEC tournament.
Ryan Lemond
I saw that. That's a big number. And like Drew said, take out that first five minutes of the game on Saturday. The last 35 minutes of the game. We went toe to toe with them.
Matt Jones
Everybody welcome my good friend Shannon, the dude who just got here.
Shannon the Dude
I heard somebody say that I just woke up. That's not true. I've been doing the pre show from my hotel room. But it's good to be here with you guys. Glad we made it to Friday.
Matt Jones
Yes. What did you think about the game yesterday before you started rocking all night?
Shannon the Dude
Hey, I mean it was great. They got up by 16. They had multiple opportunities to just blow out Missouri. They let them back in the game, but I'm just happy that they won back to back games for the first time since 2018.
Matt Jones
2018.
Shannon the Dude
Can't believe it's been that long.
Matt Jones
There were three moments in that game yesterday I got nervous. One, Chandler had an open three, missed. Cam had an open three missed. I think both those shots would have put the game away. And then I was really worried about the play where Moreno missed the dunk because they went on a run. And I thought are we going to look back and see him miss that dunk is a big moment. But again fought back through it.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, with that dunk it just felt like a stretch where Kentucky could not do anything right and Missouri was getting whatever they wanted. Missouri was getting a little cocky and confident. You could see it, Mitchell especially. But as we said it starts show. I mean Kentucky did this a few times. LSU several times the regular season. They made the winning plays down the stretch when it looked like maybe the flip it the script had flipped, you
Matt Jones
know we the flipped.
Drew Franklin
It's the flipped it script we boy, girl.
Matt Jones
I, I don't let me ask you how many of you all have found let's leave Cal to the side. How many of you have found Todd golden to kind of be the least likable coach now in the sec is everybody. I know there are people who are like, well we'd still want him. I, I get that. It would be very nice to see him take an L to us because the whining and you know after the first game he goes, well they paid $22 million. After the second game he yelled and screamed and all that. I would love to see him go down at our hands today. We're going to take a break. 859-280-2287. We'll be right back here at Tin Roof KSR. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live. We are here at Tin Roof sponsored by Burt Tavern, bourbon and Clayton and Croom. Great crowd that is joining us here. 859-280-2287. Kentucky and Florida play at 1 o' clock today on ESPN. Let's talk about some of the results from yesterday. Louisville Cardinals lost. That's really good. Went down to Miami. They are out. Duke nearly got beat in. They ended up winning right at the end. But the big debate is going to be Auburn lost, but so did Miami of Ohio. So Miami of Ohio now got a loss in the first round of their tournament and it looks like it literally could come down to Miami of Ohio and Auburn to get in. Who do you think deserves to be in the tournament more? We'll start with you, drew. Miami, Ohio 31 and 1 or Auburn 17 and 16.
Drew Franklin
I'll be the bad guy. Auburn, you didn't play anybody and you just lost a UMass when you first got to your conference tournament. Congratulations on your regular season, but I don't think they're very good. I think they're going to get killed whoever they play.
Ryan Lemond
Ryan, I'm going on Miami Ohio. I'm still riding them 17 and 16 to get in as an at large is almost a little embarrassing to me.
Public Investing Announcer
So.
Ryan Lemond
But Miami Ohio, I know they lost, but they've. They beat everybody else. I'm voting for them.
Shannon the Dude
See, I was originally against Miami Ohio making the tournament as an at large. But if you tell me they're going up against the team that's 17 and 16, that team doesn't belong in there. If it was 18 and 13 or something like that, I would say you take that team. But I think in this case you take Miami Ohio.
Matt Jones
I would also have noted if that stupid referee had not called the push off against Colin Chandler, they'd already be out. They would not have a chance of. Of getting in. How many of you would rather see Miami of Ohio? Raise your hand. How many would rather see Auburn? Like three people.
Ryan Lemond
Where are you stand my.
Matt Jones
I flipped. I was like Shannon originally I said Auburn. But the reality is this is supposed. Neither one of those teams is going to win anything. So I would much prefer to watch Miami of Ohio.
Shannon the Dude
Let them actually play somebody and see what happens.
Matt Jones
It won't happen, but I'd like to see Miami of Ohio play Auburn. I think that would have been. That would have been must see television. I'd say put them in the first four because I don't think they're great. Put them in the game in Dayton. I think everybody will watch it to see if they have a chance of winning. That's what I would do. Right.
Ryan Lemond
The atmosphere could be crazy if they put Miami Ohio there at Dayton.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I mean Miami Ohio is only like an hour for Dayton. That would be. That's what I would.
Shannon the Dude
Those playing games. Normally nobody cares about the teams unless you're a fan of those teams. I think more people would be watching Miami Ohio just to see what they do.
Matt Jones
You had Miami of Ohio against the power conference team in that game. I'd watch it. I would definitely watch.
Ryan Lemond
Oh yeah.
Drew Franklin
And I like their story and I'd be rooting for them if they played. I just, I don't like rewarding that resume, especially the way they lost so quickly in their conference tournament. If they go to the championship game and lose, maybe, but I mean you got knocked out right away by UMass.
Matt Jones
859-280-2287. Who's up next? David is up next. David. Go ahead David.
Caller
Go. Big blow that.
Matt Jones
What's going on, David?
Caller
Nothing. Just hanging out in breath and counting to watch the game. I come here every March, Venice with my. To watch with my aunts and.
Matt Jones
Well, good. What do you got?
Caller
And they want to come to KS park and they want to come to KS Bar and Grill. And my Aunt Angie wants to meet Ryan.
Matt Jones
Well, I hope she does. By the way, we'll have the game at KSBAR today. Had a great atmosphere yesterday. So go on and get in there. Go ahead. Anything else, David?
Caller
Yes, I'm going to say is this. I, I, I think it's, I know it's a small feat, but it's, it's, it's not likely that it's that Kentucky loses three times to a team. You know what I mean? We've only, it rarely happened.
Matt Jones
So we've played a team. I appreciate the call. In the history of Kentucky, we' a team that beat us twice in the regular season in the tournament, Drew. We've played them six times. Kentucky's record is three and three, the third time in those games. So that we, we have lost to a team three times. Only three times. And Alabama was one of them last year.
Drew Franklin
It's a lot of threes. Also, did you know Kentucky is 3 and 1 when playing on Friday the 13th? To keep the numerology.
Matt Jones
That's exactly right. It is Friday the 13th.
Drew Franklin
A lot of threes here.
Matt Jones
So there's some numbers there. Shannon, I know you believe in all the weird cult and alien a lot
Shannon the Dude
numerology talk on the show this week. We had the guy that keeps calling in and tries to compare like 8 minus 3 is 5 and I don't even know what that means, but we've had a lot of that talk this week, so maybe it means something. I don't know.
Matt Jones
I did note for those of you that care about refereeing, they had Doug Shous on the game last night, which means he will not be on the game today. They usually do nights and nights, but we could, but we could get Pat Adams just laughing at that pop for Doug Sh. That was a negative pop for Doug. Shouse the oh, we don't have to see Doug Shous. Yay.
Drew Franklin
I feel like there's much worse in the conference than Doug these days, to be honest. I, I feel like since Cal left, it hadn't been too bad. I mean, he loves a good monitor review. He'll pull up a chair and watch a replay anytime. But I feel like it hadn't been too bad.
Shannon the Dude
That's another thing with these monitor reviews. I mean, how many monitor reviews have we had just in the last two games?
Matt Jones
It is so strange to me, this like decision that even a graze to the face is now a. A flagrant. And yet we had the one play where Aberdeen got hit in the face and they didn't call it. So they're calling it. I don't understand. He wasn't. Why that wasn't called at that one
Ryan Lemond
where Jasper took an elbow right to the face when he went up and they didn't call that one a flagrant foul.
Matt Jones
What do you think about Pope's substitution pattern? I actually thought yesterday pretty good. He. He is now. He did not play OA. OA and Aberdeen separately, except for just a. Like a 22nd period, even though both of them had two fouls. Aberdeen, by the way, got. He played the last eight minutes of the first half with two fouls and he didn't get his third. I thought that was big.
Drew Franklin
That's big. And I know foul trouble. Played a lot with the big guys, but I thought we'd see Gareth. I don't think he played 10 minutes. I mean, he was big down the stretch, but between having four fouls, we didn't see a lot of him. I didn't think we would get a second BG game where he's hitting three pointers, but I thought we'd get a little more than nine minutes or whatever he had.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Who's up next?
Ryan Lemond
Bobby is up next.
Matt Jones
Bobby, go ahead.
Caller
Hey, guys, I got two quick things. So first off, someone called in yesterday on the post game and was talking about the referees and if they grade them or not. And I don't know if y' all heard, but Tom and Goose was talking about the guy right next to him was there to grade those officials. And Goose said that every time there was a call, he'd nudge him a little bit. And then the second thing is, I'm gonna take up for you, Matt. Brian keeps messing with you about the bull. Well, how about if we win, if we. If we beat Florida today, Ryan has
Drew Franklin
to get on a bull.
Matt Jones
I like it. Ryan, will you join me on a bull if we beat Florida today?
Ryan Lemond
I am known to ride a mechanical bull after a few margaritas, so. Yeah, baby.
Matt Jones
All right, there we go. Now we'll have two.
Drew Franklin
I have a question. Are you all riding together or do you go and then he goes a little tandem?
Matt Jones
All right, everybody, we have a special guest I want you to welcome. The Tennessee Titans cheerleaders are here. All right.
Shannon the Dude
Wow.
Matt Jones
And they.
Ryan Lemond
Wow. Hello.
Matt Jones
Tennessee Titans cheerleaders, they are here. They have a special gift for Tennessee Titans fan Drew Franklin.
Drew Franklin
I did not know about this.
Caller
Wow.
Drew Franklin
Hello.
Matt Jones
As I understand Cheerleaders. Titans cheerleader. This is the new Tennessee Titans football uniform and they have come to present one to Mr. Drew Franklin at Tennessee Titans.
Drew Franklin
This is awesome. Thank you.
Matt Jones
How about that? Look at that. What do we think about that? It's very, very nice. I like it.
Shannon the Dude
This is a surprise to me.
Matt Jones
It's a surprise to me too.
Shannon the Dude
Talk about two guys on a bull.
Matt Jones
So the Titan, just so you know, put your microphone on there. The the Tennessee Titans yesterday contact us and they said that they heard that they had a massive fan in Drew Franklin. So I wanted Correct. So not only are they bringing the uniform, I also want to say this. The only reason we're doing this show today at Tin Roof, we weren't planning on it. It was so the Titans could present this. Drew is one of the first people to get it.
Drew Franklin
Oh, this is the greatest day of my life.
Matt Jones
Thank you.
Ryan Lemond
Tighten up.
Drew Franklin
We're gonna beat Florida. I'm gonna throw this on real quick.
Matt Jones
There you go.
Ryan Lemond
That's really cool.
Matt Jones
So even though there are a lot of people here aren't Titans fans, why don't you on our way out, lead us with your new Titans jersey in a cat's chant. You ready to go? Do you know the catch? Chance? We'll follow. All right, We'll take a break and be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.

Travis Perry had a big game last night and got Ole Miss an upset victory yesterday.
Shannon the Dude
Nice little lob for a dunk at one point.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, that's right big at the end
Matt Jones
of the game and he got the rebound that wanted at the end. I mean he was, was. I literally said on the final play, I said I can't believe Travis Perry is in here. And then he gets the end up winning rebound.
Drew Franklin
I mean he did everything. He got the game winning rebound. I some free throws. Took one to the face to get Somto kicked out in the first half. I mean Travis Perry was doing it all.
Matt Jones
Yeah, they, they gave that. That was a huge play in the game. A flagrant two against Travis. Probably his best game at Ole Miss, at least of the ones I've seen and heard about.
Ryan Lemond
I saw where Chris Beard in the post game, they asked him about that play and they went out to the Travis may have a concussion and when he opened his eyes he said I can hit the free throws.
Matt Jones
We certainly didn't have a concussion. He kept playing, but that's the bottom half of the bracket is completely exploded. A lot, a lot of the teams are out. Arkansas and Alabama debut today, but Ole Miss, you know, Travis Perry playing well and then Oklahoma probably playing for their coach's job. Porter Moser keeps winning as well.
Shannon the Dude
Do you think Ole Miss has one more in them? I mean if you're Alabama and Army, Arkansas, you, you don't play till Friday, then you get teams that are playing from Wednesday.
Matt Jones
I think Oklahoma could beat Arkansas, but I do not think Ole Miss is going to beat Alabama today.
Drew Franklin
No. I was with some Ole Miss fans last night. They thought they were leaving their first game and they were even thrown off to be playing a second. And now their head's really in a pretzel of what they're supposed to be doing this weekend. But I think it'll be the end of the road with their next game.
Matt Jones
They you so yesterday I tried spent more time watching the other conferences than I had in the Big 12. You know, they had the, that glass floor that they were using, that that actually was, was gray. They ended up deciding last night to pull the floor and replace it because players, you know, we talked when they first announced it, I said, aren't players going to fall down? It's glass. It can't be. Turns out people were falling down and a couple players got hurt. One guy said he had a migraine because it was so hard to look at the floor. And they are now replacing the floor for the semifinals and you know, like
Shannon the Dude
for Big Blue Madness, I think this is great. But when you're trying playing in a conference tournament and teams are playing to get to the NCAA tournament and they're slipping and falling, you can't sacrifice a cool looking court for player safety.
Matt Jones
The migraine thing was crazy to me. Ryan. They, the guy said, you know, when you sit there and stare at the floor, it's kind of blinking. And he said, by the end of the game I had a migraine.
Ryan Lemond
I can't believe there was somebody who sat in that office and thought this was a good idea. Let's debut this floor at the Big 12 Conference tournament.
Matt Jones
It's ugly too. If you try to watch the game on television, I think it's hard to watch. I can't. For all the cool things you could do with that floor, they had this, they had this ugly color of like asphalt on the fly. I didn't really understand it.
Drew Franklin
You can barely see the three point line. I know when it's been used in the past, like in the NBA and even at Madness, players say they're be drilling. They'll just hit a dead spot on the court. It's, it's neat, but it's not going to work out and shouldn't be a
Shannon the Dude
part of weird like glow on the ball when they're dribbling by the logo. I mean, you know, they could do really cool things with it. But again, I don't think it's worth it for the tournament.
Matt Jones
Yeah, well, it's, they're switching it now for the big game. Susan, up next. Adam is up next. Adam. Go ahead, Adam. Adam.
Caller
Hey, what's up Ad?
Matt Jones
Go for it, man.
Caller
Have a, have a big feeling that
Matt Jones
Aberdeen's Gonna put up 20 plus against
Caller
his former team today. And you know, if I had to give a prediction, I'd say like 84 to 80. Cats win.
Matt Jones
Yeah, that's a great question. How many Appreciate the call. How many Points do we have to score to win today? Knowing how much they put up. What's the number that you think we have to reach in order to win the game?
Drew Franklin
80s.
Matt Jones
It's more than 80s.
Shannon the Dude
I would say in the night. Yeah.
Matt Jones
That you and I think alike on these. 87 was going to be my number two. I think you got. I think you gotta hit. We have to hit threes like we. We have to do a lot of stuff well And I think 87 is a minimum the number because they're gonna score 80 without question. You're not gonna be able to stop them from scoring.
Drew Franklin
And one thing they did a lot in Rupp is, you know, they're so good at rebounding. Their guards just leak out and take off because they know those big guys are getting the rebound and that leads to some quick points by them and Kentucky's got to try to contain that a little better than they didn't like.
Matt Jones
One good thing is I will say this. I don't know how much he's going to be able to play but defensively Cam Williams gives us some options there that we did not have when we played them the last couple of times. I actually think think Cam is. If he can give us 15 minutes, Ryan will actually be very helpful in trying to guard all those bigs.
Ryan Lemond
Absolutely. Just having that length out there on the wing on those guys. He hit the three from the logo kind of quiet yesterday. But just having him out there, just the defenses have to pay attention to him. So stretches the defense.
Matt Jones
But I'm more concerned about his defense. Cuz. Cuz we, you know, we. When we were playing at Florida, Trent Noah was trying to guard those guys and that didn't really work and Jasper was trying to go there, those guys and that didn't really work.
Ryan Lemond
Work.
Matt Jones
I actually think Cam can give you some minutes because your bigs are going to get in foul trouble. That's just what's going to happen.
Drew Franklin
He will.
Shannon the Dude
And it'll be interesting to see how many guys that haven't had much playing time in the first couple of games get minutes because of again the fatigue thing. Coming in with three games in three days. Florida hasn't played a game since Kentucky six days ago.
Matt Jones
We think about your boy Brandon Garrison with all the blocks yesterday. Is this, is this going to be the Brandon Garrison tournament? I know he didn't score, but is this going to be BG time? Where's J. Where's the Mario BG time?
Drew Franklin
We're living on BG standard time right now. Now my Favorite thing he did yesterday. Maybe you shouldn't do this, but, you know, he had to let Missouri know they're going home and drew a little technical.
Ryan Lemond
A little, yeah.
Matt Jones
What did we think about that play at the end?
Drew Franklin
I. Mario has the best video I've seen. And you know, Brandon said something bad because Sean Phillips turns around so quick to react.
Matt Jones
I have to say, I love bg, but that was the st. Once again, we did the stupidest play at the end. Again, you're up 7. Diabate just like scraps at the ball. If he, he was a. A half an inch from hitting that guy in the face. And if he hits that guy in the face and they get two free throws for the flagrant, two more for the foul, and then they get the ball like, what are y' all doing? And then Brandon Garrison. I know you want to talk trash, but let the horn go off. I mean, it would. I couldn't believe it, Ryan, that he, that he. There's 13 seconds left in the game,
Ryan Lemond
but what's Kentucky's record where Brandon Garrison gets a technical?
Matt Jones
I know, but like, I don't know.
Ryan Lemond
What is it?
Shannon the Dude
You already had the game one, though.
Matt Jones
But the game was over and the only chance they have is if you do something stupid right there. It's the only way they could have a shot.
Ryan Lemond
We need to make sure his son's there. They seem to be undefeated. When he gets a technical on his
Drew Franklin
sons there, Here's a crazy idea. How about let's just get a technical to start the game.
Public Investing Announcer
Garrison.
Ryan Lemond
Why not?
Matt Jones
He is Brandon Garrison. Kentucky is now nine and oh, when he gets a technical or a flagrant foul, that woman's like, yeah, go punch somebody in the face. All right, well, who's up next? Free Bird is up next. Free Bird, go ahead.
Caller
Hey, guys. Wish I was down there. Hey, I called into Larry Glover live and talked to him for a few minutes yesterday and asked him if there was. Had ever been a 30 team. Excuse me, a 30 win team. Not to get in. And the closest he could come back is a few years ago. Belmont was 264 and they beat Clemson and NC State and did not get in.
Matt Jones
No, that's just the case. There's never. There's never been a 30 win team. Not get in. But there's also never been a 30 win team that had this kind of record because usually they play at least one or two good teams in Miami didn't. But you, you got to put them in now their numbers. If you were to just do a mark Pope like analytic thing. Their numbers would not put them in. They're going to if they get an at large they will be the lowest net and RPI team to ever get one in the history of the tournament. So I mean either way the NCAA is going to have to set a precedent where they put them in or
Caller
don't you just took the words out of my mouth or be a president said Joe Lardi said they will be it.
Matt Jones
Yeah, but Joe Lardi, I like Joe Lardi and he'll be on my show Sunday night. He also didn't do a very good job with his bracket last year. I mean just he, he's just guessing like everybody else. He's better at it than we are but he's just guessing.
Caller
Can I ask one more question?
Matt Jones
Yes.
Caller
Quickly the the court was it hacked by Ron Jeremy there in the Big 12?
Matt Jones
I shouldn't have let you say the second 1-855-928-02287 I appreciate the call. You don't have to try to be funny. That wasn't it Cats in Florida, Kentucky. It's been bet down it was 13 and a half. It's down to 11 and a half. Would you bet the cats?
Drew Franklin
You mean would I bet at the moment it came out I bet it the second I saw it was on the app Yesterday at about 10 minutes after our game ended.
Matt Jones
I like Kentucky to cover the spread. Shannon. Yeah, both games we have played them competitively so I think they can cover that. I do as well. We're going to take a break break and come back for the SEC actually. Second 30 minutes. We are here at Tin Roof. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.

Chelsea Handler
This is Chelsea Handler from Dear Chelsea after the big game. Like most people, I kept thinking about the commercials and there was one that stayed with me. It was from the Blue Square Alliance Against Hate and it wasn't loud or flashy. It showed a Jewish kid being targeted at school and another student who chose not to ignore. As someone who was Jewish, that moment felt very real to me. Not dramatic, just familiar. And what struck me was how clearly it showed that hate doesn't always announce itself, but the impact is still huge. If you saw the blue square spot during the big game, it's worth thinking about. And if you want to show support, sharing the blue square is one small way to do that.
