Chelsea Handler
This is Chelsea Handler from Dear Chelsea after the Big Game. Like most people, I kept thinking about the commercials, and there was one that stayed with me. It was from the Blue Square Alliance Against Hate, and it wasn't loud or flashy. It showed a Jewish kid being targeted at school and another student who chose not to ignore it. As someone who was Jewish, that moment felt very real to me. Not dramatic, just familiar. And what struck me was how clearly it showed that hate doesn't always announce itself, but the impact is still huge. If you saw the Blue Square spot during the Big Game, it's worth thinking about. And if you want to show support, sharing the Blue Square is one small way to do that.

Drew Franklin
Yeah, we sounded good until that horn. That horn did something.
Matt Jones
What happened on the horn, Rick? What was that horn?
Drew Franklin
I don't know.

I had nothing to do with the horn.

Mario, do me a favor. Go outside with Austin and tell him what's wrong. Both of them looking at each other. We have a very capable group going here.
Drew Franklin
So Mario doesn't have the urgency.
Matt Jones
I don't know. Mario is dressed. We're meeting with our boss today.
Ryan Lemond
Yes.
Matt Jones
And Mario is. Is. Is saying it's. He's on. He's on. Easy pace. I'll tell you what people are telling me, Rick, this sounds weird. So let's do this. Let's take a break, and let's just take an early break and come back and hopefully we can have it fixed. All right. Good with you, Rick? Sounds like a plan. So we're gonna take an early break. We'll be right back. This is ksr.

Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio 859-280-2287. The text machine is 772-774-5254. No idea if this is better or not. What do we think?
Drew Franklin
It sounds a little better, but still tin can.
Matt Jones
It's still terrible. But you know what? This is going to be what it is because this is iheartradio and this is the way it goes. We are back after vacation and ready to rock. Ryan, so back what I was saying. Thank you very much for filling in while I was gone.
Ryan Lemond
I did two days. Drew did two days. And then Billy did a day and did a great job.
Matt Jones
I heard he did a great job. I was glad to. I'm always proud of Billy and, you know, Jack and Nick. Thank you to them for coming in as well.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And I want to thank the folks here at iHeart for being ready when we came back. Drew, that's exactly how things go.
Drew Franklin
Well, the first day you were gone, I hosted it. I had to do the first segment by phone without a co host because we had technical difficulties. So it's been.
Matt Jones
Been a week. Been. It's been a great time. Well, all right. So the national championship is tonight, Right? Portal starts at midnight tonight. And since I was gone, I wrote down like a million topics a bit because I have a lot to say. We were gone for a long time. I do want you to notice I came in today with a Michigan hoodie because we have to have Michigan win tonight. We have to. As much as I enjoyed watching UConn beat Duke live in person, we have to have Michigan win tonight. We cannot have UConn win seven titles in 27 years. So Michigan, who hasn't won a title since, what, romel Robinson in 1987?
Ryan Lemond
89.
Matt Jones
89 over Seton Hall. You're exactly right. We need them to win tonight. I don't even particularly like Michigan, but I think if you're a historic college basketball person, which those of us that love ukr, we need a victory.
Ryan Lemond
If Connecticut wins, it's their seventh title. That's more than Duke. That's more than North Carolina. And breathing down More than Kansas.
Matt Jones
I mean, I. Seven and 27 years is kind of an amazing thing. The UConn situation is an unbelievable situation. So in the last 27 years, Drew, they've made eight Final Fours, but they've won seven of them. Yeah, that's amazing.
Ryan Lemond
Or.
Matt Jones
Well, they've won six. They will have won seven if they win tonight. They've also, though, during that time, Drew missed the tournament nine times, had some
Drew Franklin
early exits even when they made it. It's so weird. And it's crazy that in that spans and 99. I mean, they have seven to our one. I mean, seven in that window is
Matt Jones
nuts for anyone with three different coaches. That's three different coaches. I mean, they haven't won tonight. So let's. Right now they have six. Yeah, but they could. But they very well could win tonight. I mean, they're a six and a half point underdog. People are acting like it's certain they're going to lose. I feel like there are. Cockroach. That does not. I mean, I don't know how you can say, certainly they're gonna lose.
Ryan Lemond
They're not intimidated by anybody. They've proven that. And you know, Rick Patino's gotta be sitting back saying, man, I just destroyed this team in the big 2 and
Matt Jones
11 win Marquette team right before the tournament.
Ryan Lemond
That's right.
Matt Jones
Forgot about Marquette. Team that only won 11 games, beat them just before the tournament. I mean, that's. That's crazy. Now, Michigan, on the other hand, there are people saying that if they win, it's one of the greatest teams ever. I don't buy that, just for the record. I mean, they're storming through the tournament. So in that respect, it's very impressive. They could have, like, one of the great tournament runs of all time, but I'm not willing to yet say that they are, you know, the best. One of the best teams of all time.
Ryan Lemond
Maybe not one of the best, but one of the best to watch. I mean, they're.
Matt Jones
You enjoy watching them.
Ryan Lemond
90 points a game. They're, you know, throwing alley oop dunks and scoring every which way. They. They are to me. They're fun to watch.
Matt Jones
Well, I want to preview that game a little more as we get closer, but let's talk about kind of where Kentucky is. All right. So since I've been gone, we have announcements on players, which I think a lot more will come tomorrow. But we have announcements on player Jasper Johnson, Brandon Garrison transferring. Right. Not a surprise on either one of them. What are we going to say? Jalen Lowe and Jalen Lowe that I think happened. Maybe that happened the weekend that I left. Any of those three surprise you?
Ryan Lemond
No, I. We fully expected Jalen Lowe to gleave because they were pursuing other point guards. Jasper, I expected him to leave because it didn't go away for him this year. Brandon was the one guy I thought maybe because Pope loves him so much, it appears maybe might stick around.
Drew Franklin
I agree with Ryan. Of the three, I could have seen Brandon Garrison coming back, but I didn't expect Low or Jasper. I think when we played the percentage game we had Jasper at at one,
Matt Jones
just I had three.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, that's true. You had a little more faith. But I think we all believe he needs a fresh start somewhere.
Matt Jones
I, I'm not surprised. I mean, Jasper. John. Well, let's start with Jalen Lowe. I think Kentucky has just decided that he can't be the certain starting point guard. Not even because how he plays. I just think a durability slash fit part of it. You know, there's been a lot of talk about sort of chemistry and all that and I want to get to that when we talk about the, the behind the scenes thing. But I do think certainly early in the year the Jalen Low, it just, it just wasn't working from a chemistry perspective on and off the court. I think that got better actually as the year went on, but it just didn't make sense to bring him back and be the certain starting point guard. And if you're Jalen Lowe, you're not coming back to back up someone.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. So like basketball guys may say Lowe is such a ball dominant point guard. It just didn't work with what Pope.
Matt Jones
But I mean to be fair, he only played like four games. I mean it's. I do think when you make broad judgments about how he played, he only played a handful of games. Yeah. So that would be hard to know. But I also understand why you wouldn't want to rely on it. So he's gone. Jasper Johnson. I'm sad to see it, but it just didn't work out.
Ryan Lemond
Didn't work out.
Matt Jones
It just didn't work out. And I don't blame anybody. But it didn't work out. Right. Isn't that the takeaway?
Drew Franklin
Yeah. I mean, you know, they're saying that maybe people thought in his head maybe he'd want to give it a redo at Kentucky to prove he can do it, but I just think he's best suited with a fresh start somewhere. Pope's offense, with all the ball movement, Jasper's More of a guy that kind of needs to be in control a little bit and go get his own buckets.
Matt Jones
Like Jalen Lowe in some ways. I mean, Jalen Lowe's may be more of a traditional point guard, Jasper's more of a scorer, but it's the same issue in some ways, right.
Drew Franklin
That in this year and I worried about this going to the season, but he just doesn't have the size to go into the sec and you know, he can't even get to his own spots, can't really defend. We got to later in the year, he couldn't bring the ball up the court. So I just think a reset would be good for him overall. And, you know, there's no, there's people that have been very critical of him, But I think 99% of the fan base is rooting for him in his next stop.
Matt Jones
You obviously huge fan, supporter of the kid, known him a long time. Were you sad to see the news or do you think it's the best?
Ryan Lemond
I was sad because it just didn't work out here for him. And I know he wanted it to. I know his family wanted it to. It just didn't work. He's recruited to come here as a two guard, got forced to be at the backup point guard. I want him to succeed somewhere. I think there's bigger and better days ahead for that kid. I got disgusted by some of our fans, what they were saying online after he announced he was transferring. I mean, it's, it's embarrassing how some of our fans reacted to that.
Matt Jones
I agree with you. I feel like I keep saying I want to talk about that, but. But the online thing is a different. At some point we have to say we've got to stop acting like 30, 50, 100 people online is the representation of the fan base. I'm kind of tired, to be honest, of a big blue nation being like, well, there's a hundred loud people online, so Kentucky fans, you're never going to be able to get people online to be nice. Correct? Right. Like, that's just not gonna happen.
Ryan Lemond
That's how we live.
Matt Jones
That's how the world is today. And the social media platforms, that's a whole nother issue that, like, to me is a big issue in society. But it stinks. And it does stink for Jasper, especially a Kentucky kid who wanted to play here and, and seems like an awesome kid. It stinks. It didn't work, but it also didn't work. And I don't. I mean, am I wrong? No, it didn't work.
Ryan Lemond
He's one of those guys I wish could do a do over. I think.
Matt Jones
I don't disagree with you. Yes. Maybe it could have worked in a different scenario.
Ryan Lemond
Yes. Yep. But it didn't work this past.
Matt Jones
It didn't work and I hate that.
Ryan Lemond
Me too.
Matt Jones
I hate that it didn't work. I wanted it to work, especially with that family. Yeah, we wanted it to work, but it did. Now Brandon Garrison, two years. I actually think people will remember him more fondly because of the last couple games. Right.
Drew Franklin
Camp.
Matt Jones
Yeah. I mean the I was the Santa Clara game and then wasn't one of the SEC tournament. Like we'll have some good memories of him. Right. It was BG time occasionally.
Drew Franklin
That was just the BG experience. I mean going back to his first year at Kentucky, he had some amazing games at Oklahoma. He was like guarding everybody garden all five spots. When he first got bench for Marino this past season had played his best game coming off the bench. So he had his highs. I just think Pope invested too much in him and kind of believed in him more than Brandon was capable of being consistent. Like Pope brought that guy back to start.
Matt Jones
He would be the start. And you have to remember what Brandon's
Drew Franklin
role needs to be a bench guy.
Matt Jones
Pope envisioned this team being I think was Jalen Lowe at the point Otega away Modi Abate and Brandon Garrison and then someone at the three. Maybe Chandler. I mean at times I think he thought Noah might be that person. Right. It didn't end up working out but he thought Garrison was going to be a starting center and Garrison just Ryan didn't improve enough I think for that to make sense. So honestly, I think it's better for him and for the team that he's probably in the portal too.
Ryan Lemond
Like you said though, my memories of him will be nothing but great now because that what happened in the determinant. Well, yeah.
Matt Jones
Really.
Ryan Lemond
I, I, I kind of hate to see the guy go because the way he played.
Matt Jones
Let me ask you a question. If Ryan Lemon was in charge of the roster.
Ryan Lemond
Yes.
Matt Jones
Because you've already said you wish Jasper would have a do over and you wish Brandon would. It was. Your memories are great. Would you just keep everyone like if you were the gm, would you keep this entire roster and basically run it back without OA and Aberdeen and add two people?
Ryan Lemond
Well, I gotta add two dudes. I gotta get dudes because I'm, I mean we had two dudes and we weren't losing them. So if you're.
Matt Jones
We had two dudes and we weren't
Ryan Lemond
good, but I'm going to get two better dudes.
Matt Jones
You're going to get better dudes than us.
Drew Franklin
I'm worried about finding better than those two.
Matt Jones
No, but I, I do think that's important to, like, think about.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
This team didn't work. If you brought these guys back. It wasn't going to work.
Ryan Lemond
And actually, I guess we could even say our top four dude with low and quaintance. And then OA and Abdiels were our four top dudes. We lose all four of them.
Matt Jones
Queens didn't play. I mean, I, you know, with Garrison,
Drew Franklin
whatever they paid, if it was in the millions, if he's coming back, you have to sit him down. Be like, we're not paying you a fraction of that and you're the seventh or eighth man. In that case, we'd love to have you back. But in Brandon's side, he can't accept that because he could probably go out and get better.
Matt Jones
Yeah. But I don't think UK can. You can't run this back.
Ryan Lemond
You can't. Look what happened.
Matt Jones
But you saying, like, you want to run it back.
Ryan Lemond
Well, I, I feel a fondness for these guys for sure. I feel a fondness for Brandon now after what he did in March Madness. I don't know why. I just can't both.
Matt Jones
But I get it. But you have to make decisions. Like, you can't just go, this didn't work. But I feel fondness, so I wish it worked. If you're the GM of the team, are you bringing these guys back? Low, Garrison and Jasper, are you bringing them back? It's a. It's you. This is not, to some extent, this is not a touchy feely. We all like. If it's touchy feely, we all want him back. We would all love to see all these guys do, but you have to decide whether you're bringing these guys back. I don't disagree with any of Pope's decisions here. Do you know? Okay, so you do agree that we should have gotten rid of.
Ryan Lemond
From a coaching perspective. I'm just saying. Yeah. Just my personal beliefs are that I wish Brandon would come back and be our reserve off the bench. That guy not. Not a starter. We had to go get a big man starter with Malachi. Brandon's our guy off the bench.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Well, I think Drew's right. That wasn't going to happen. So now who's. We don't know about Noah.
Drew Franklin
That's the. I haven't even heard his name mentioned. I mean, I don't have great scoop on the whole team or anything, but I've heard a little bit about each person. I've not heard a peep about.
Matt Jones
I haven't either. Have you?
Ryan Lemond
No. Nothing.
Matt Jones
I know. Nothing. I have no idea if he's thinking about coming back or not. I mean, I think these guys if. If they're. The good thing about the portal entry having been two weeks after the. Remember last year, that wasn't like that. The portal was already open.
Ryan Lemond
Already open.
Matt Jones
These guys know now, or at least very close to know. I mean, if someone's definitely leaving, I think we're going to find out tomorrow.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, I think so.
Matt Jones
Because they're like.
Drew Franklin
They're going to have their name in the mix.
Matt Jones
Exactly. They're going to want to be like, early on, get in the mix. So, like, no. What I think we know tomorrow. Let's just go through. Do you think he comes back?
Ryan Lemond
No.
Matt Jones
You? But you don't know?
Ryan Lemond
I don't know.
Matt Jones
Okay. What about you?
Drew Franklin
I'll say yes because I've just made up a scenario where he wants to keep wearing the jersey and he'd make more money here than anywhere else. But, you know, if he wants to go get shots and play a lot of minutes, he doesn't need to come back because I don't think that role is going to be there for him.
Matt Jones
I have no idea. Yeah, but I'm just going to guess. No, but it's a complete guess. Diabate, by the way, I. Well, I have a strong opinion what I think this is, but go ahead.
Ryan Lemond
I don't think he's coming back. I have no idea, but I just feel like he's going to probably just chase a bag and get money and go somewhere else.
Matt Jones
I think diabate is in a goat is strictly negotiation. I think it's going to be. I think that's probably going to happen one way or the other today. I think UK would like him back. I think he probably would like more money than UK wants to pay right now, and it'll just be whether or not they can get an agreement that simple, and we'll probably know tomorrow.
Drew Franklin
I kind of agree with that. If you'd asked me in January, I'd heard he was really interested in the second year. Of course, it would still have to come down the negotiating table. But now I think Pope, with all these guys, has to look at him, be like, look, we paid you a lot of money last year and you're probably not going to get that dollar amount this season. And if they want to Agree to run it back at a, at a lower rate, then you'll see it. But I don't think many of them will agree to do that.
Ryan Lemond
Chandler, that's a tough one, man. You know, if he's thinking about going back home for a couple years and
Matt Jones
playing, do we have any proof that he's thinking about going back home beyond random Internet accounts saying it?
Ryan Lemond
I don't think.
Drew Franklin
I don't expect him to leave. I don't think they could afford him.
Matt Jones
I. He's here.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Like, why do people think now again, can things change? But what is the evidence that he's not here? Like, I just keep. People keep saying, well, his wife or how do people know that?
Ryan Lemond
I don't know.
Matt Jones
Like, what are you talking about?
Drew Franklin
Also, if you want to play basketball for your life, you're not going to be living at home ever.
Matt Jones
They're going to be bouncing. I mean, I will tell you, when I was in dc, all the national people think the Chandler deal is done. Like, that he's here. Good one. A couple people asked me like, you know, Chandler's back, right? And I said, well, I haven't heard that. And they go, yeah, his. I mean, they were like, his people all say he's back. So, I mean, I would love for him to say that publicly.
Ryan Lemond
It would be nice when.
Matt Jones
But I don't know where all the angst online has come from. Chandler, I kind of tried to research yesterday, why do people think he might go to byu? And I think it's just because he's Mormon. Like, I don't, I don't know that there's any other evidence beyond that, is there?
Drew Franklin
And people keep saying BYU. He grew up a fan of Utah, like the Utes. So like, if anything, maybe you look at the Utes, but they can't pay. I mean, Kentucky is going to take good care of, of Chandler.
Matt Jones
I mean, he's going to be a
Drew Franklin
big piece of next year. And I think he trusts Pope and everything that's happen.
Matt Jones
Think he's back.
Drew Franklin
I would be pretty surprised.
Matt Jones
Moreno, I'm going to look at you because you have acted like you knew. You have had been like sneaky snake dancing with Moreno all year.
Ryan Lemond
I think he's back. Yeah. I think some things.
Matt Jones
So you haven't been that confident before.
Ryan Lemond
Maybe, Maybe right before you left. I think I'd heard where things were going to happen. They're going to keep him. They're going to make sure they keep him.
Matt Jones
Okay. So I think what's going to happen with Moreno, he will enter the draft to go through the combine, but with every intention of retiring, coming back. So unless he went to the combine and was told you're a lottery pick, he's probably back. So I think people should expect him to go through the draft process, but I think with the expectation he'll be back and if he. And assuming he comes back to college basketball, Drew, I think he will be playing.
Drew Franklin
I agree with that. And I think he should go through the process. We saw for years guys do that and come back. I mean, I'll wager just did it last year. So I think Moreno should do that. I hope fans won't overreact to it because I, I don't think he'd get the feedback. He'd want to leave right away. I expect him.
Matt Jones
So I do think people should prepare themselves for that announcement. Okay.
Ryan Lemond
But don't jump off.
Drew Franklin
And that's good, though.
Matt Jones
That's good. But I, I think it is. Unless all of a sudden he's a lottery pick, I expect him to be back. So Moreno, Chandler, Mason, Williams, who I'm going to admit, I know nothing about, except that he's Mo Williams son and I don't know, I've never seen him. I don't know who he is. I'm glad we have another Williams that we need a lot of. Williams is the most popular last name in America, as you would know if you went to Matt Jones trivia.
Ryan Lemond
Oh, I didn't know that.
Matt Jones
Yeah, top 10 last names in America. It's like Williams, Jones, Smith, Rodriguez, Garcia. What were the others?
Drew Franklin
Do you remember?
Matt Jones
Huh? I was Williams, Jones, Smith, Garcia, Rodriguez, and there were five more. But anyway, Williams is actually number one now and you know it by our roster.
Ryan Lemond
So what about Cam Williams?
Matt Jones
Don't know. I, I know Kentucky wants him, but I think it's completely up in the air. I think that's the one the people around the program are the least clear about. I think that will honestly be determined today. Today's a big day. Today is the day that, as I understand it, the guys that are on the roster now, it's like a, you make a deal or not today. And really I think that's Cam Williams, Modia Bate and Trent Noah. I don't have a sense of what Trent Noah's situation is. I do think when it comes to Cam Williams and Modi, Kentucky would like to have those guys, but it's going to be about if the two sides can come to an agreement and they may like to have Noah too. I just haven't gotten. I don't know about Noah. I just don't know.
Drew Franklin
And Williams and even Diabate, with the position they play, they're probably looking at Pope like, hey, are you getting tired, Stokes? Or not? Like, Cam Williams is probably going to leave if they load up on the wing and go get a. Go get a star. So, I mean, Cam especially probably has to fill out what UK is going to have in front of him and how much he'll have to compete for that job.
Matt Jones
So I have a. I feel confident that Moreno, Chandler, Mason, Williams. I haven't. Is Hawthorne. He's a name that hasn't come up in my. Is he. I assume he. I don't know. Is he.
Drew Franklin
Think he'll be looking around Kentucky.
Matt Jones
What about Yelp? Yellow bitch? Haven't heard anything about yellow.
Drew Franklin
No, I. If I had to guess, I'd say he's leaving.
Matt Jones
I would guess.
Drew Franklin
I don't think you can run it back with him as a starter. So it's like I said with the other guys, it's like, hey, man, if you want to be second dude off the bench and take a pay cut, we'd love to have you.
Matt Jones
What's the story about him playing basketball against a group of students?
Drew Franklin
Yeah, it's not a good look. They yellow. Hawthorne and Potter went to the Johnson center and lost.
Matt Jones
Or were they trying?
Drew Franklin
Well, that I don't know. I don't know why they said it. They said it in a microphone. Just don't tell people you lost. We never would have known.
Matt Jones
It's a dude from the Colonel.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, but they admitted to losing.
Matt Jones
The Colonel sticks his nose into things. Who is that? He looks like he's like 13, but he's always interviewing people and being like. He'll like, come up to a person, be like, are you pro choice or pro life? Do you like nerd gummy clusters? Like, whoa. Those two questions have nothing to do with.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, he's a reporter.
Drew Franklin
I wish our players would have just not admitted that, though.
Matt Jones
So they admitted they got beat. Yes.
Drew Franklin
At the Johnson.
Matt Jones
Yeah, keep that one to yourself. All right, well, Tycock, catch up. Hopefully this is sounding good, Rick Is.
Ryan Lemond
Sounds pretty good.
Matt Jones
All right, we'll be right back. All right, welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-280-2287. Text machine is 772-774-5254. All right, so while I was go had a documentary about the UK basketball season, right? The least important thing, but the one that I heard at least from you all, is that they Showed my apartment. My old apartment. Am I correct about this?
Drew Franklin
They did. Place looks good. Looks like the kitchen's been redone since you lived there.
Matt Jones
So that was my apartment on the documentary.
Ryan Lemond
It's definitely been updated since you lived there.
Matt Jones
So that. So apparently where Colin Chandler lives now.
Ryan Lemond
With his wife.
Matt Jones
With his wife. That's where I live.
Ryan Lemond
That's your old place.
Matt Jones
So now I feel like we can say this, right? Can't we say this now? Yeah. So I lived there for a while, and then I got replaced by Oscar.
Ryan Lemond
Not.
Drew Franklin
It's a big upgrade for them.
Matt Jones
Yes, by Oscar Combs. They moved Oscar Combs in there? No, I, I left, and then Oscar Sheepway lived there for a year.
Ryan Lemond
About a year and a half maybe, wasn't it?
Matt Jones
And then I didn't know what happened after that. And you all told me in the documentary that now Colin Chandler lives there.
Drew Franklin
I've known all year that Colin lives there.
Matt Jones
Why have you never told me?
Drew Franklin
I have told you this.
Ryan Lemond
I probably told you one time. Yeah.
Matt Jones
For some reason, it didn't process. So Colin Chandler's in my place. So how did it look on the document?
Drew Franklin
Looked clean.
Matt Jones
Did it have all the mirrors?
Drew Franklin
Mirrors? Mirrors were there, but they've hung some pictures.
Matt Jones
Oh, I didn't do that.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, maybe. Looks like someone might have run a vacuum.
Matt Jones
No, stop.
Drew Franklin
Kitchen looked good, but. Yeah, goes right up the stairs.
Matt Jones
It has so many mirrors, I didn't
Ryan Lemond
see 300 pairs of shoes all on the floor.
Drew Franklin
Place looks good.
Matt Jones
Well, good.
Ryan Lemond
Looks real good.
Drew Franklin
Well, now I want a famous apartment complex.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Wow. So that was for people who don't know that apartment complex. Drew lived. Has lived there. Duron Lamb. Because Drew got his old mattress. Yep, I lived there. Then Oscar replaced me, and then now Colin Chandler is there.
Drew Franklin
And if you want to go way back when I lived there, Rodney Dent lived a couple doors down.
Matt Jones
Rodney did live there. Okay.
Drew Franklin
Like going on over there.
Matt Jones
Like going on across from the Applebee's. Yeah, but. Well, that's exciting. So, so tell me about the documentary. I, I, I've seen clips online, but I haven't gotten to watch the whole thing because I was in the airport flying when it was on. Good.
Ryan Lemond
It kind of gives a person who's not a Kentucky fan. It gives you an idea what being a Kentucky fan is all about. You know, the lows, you know, are pretty low. The highs are pretty high. My big takeaway was that Hogan Zaga series where they showed the fans booing our team and how Pope kind of almost got choked up talking about it after the game.
Matt Jones
So I saw that clip with Todd Harris Worldwide Todd Harris yelling at the
Ryan Lemond
guy, go get him, Todd.
Drew Franklin
That's the best part of the whole documentary.
Matt Jones
Yeah. I mean, first of all, you all have heard us on this show over the years talk about worldwide Todd Harris. And you're like, probably like, who's Worldwide Todd Harris? And we said, you know, he's worldwide. Cause like, world wide West. He's everywhere.
Ryan Lemond
He's everywhere.
Matt Jones
Well, he ends up in the documentary because the guy booing worldwide Todd Harris is on the floor challenging to a fight.
Drew Franklin
He's saying, get out of here if you're not going to cheer for the team.
Matt Jones
He was like, bring it on. I got a quarter zip. I have a quarter zip. You want some?
Ryan Lemond
We need more. Todd Harris is like that, Keeping the
Drew Franklin
fan base in check.
Matt Jones
It did. Pope did get emotional. I actually thought, though, Pope, the clip I saw where he was talking about fan negativity, I actually thought he gave a really good answer because he was basically like, obviously we don't like it, but they care. And that caring is important. Which I think is exactly what you should say.
Ryan Lemond
Yes.
Matt Jones
I don't think fans should boo. We said that at the time. I think booing is bad. At the same time, it was a unique situation. All those fans had gone there. They lose by 35.
Drew Franklin
I was there, and it was expensive to go.
Matt Jones
Yeah. And so. But I liked. I think Pope handled that answer actually very well. But I also can't lie that I laughed that worldwide Todd Harris is on there screaming.
Ryan Lemond
I had never.
Drew Franklin
Get out of here if you're not
Matt Jones
going to cheer for the team here.
Ryan Lemond
You know, we know we talk to him all the time. He's never mentioned that. That he got in a screaming match.
Matt Jones
I didn't know he was gonna be on CBS until. I mean, he probably didn't think that that was going to end up on the documentary. Was there any news that came out of it? Was there anything that, like, did they. What'd he say about the Louisville thing?
Drew Franklin
If you're a Kentucky fan that sat down to learn something, you didn't get anything. No, I mean, they blew right over the Louisville game. Pope is in an interview talking about it. He kind of doesn't. He gave the same answer. He did then just kind of said the guys were too hyped too early, and they just.
Matt Jones
I mean, I felt like they were, like, fighting John with fans.
Drew Franklin
Fans. But we knew that at the time he said that then. If you were looking for some real answers, it didn't have anything.
Matt Jones
It didn't really have anything.
Drew Franklin
No.
Matt Jones
What did was anything good from the Santa Clara, like a celebration video?
Ryan Lemond
Because they showed Ortega and his mom embracing after the game.
Matt Jones
Oh, that's cool.
Ryan Lemond
That was kind of cool. The Otega angle with his mom. They did a couple times are really kind of cool. But after the Santa Clara game, they got to have a moment.
Matt Jones
Is there anywhere to watch it?
Drew Franklin
I watched it on because I didn't watch it live. I watched it on Paramount app.
Matt Jones
Oh, is it on Paramount Plus I
Drew Franklin
just pulled it up on demand. I didn't have it recorded.
Matt Jones
I'll go watch it. I just see how my apartment.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. There's also Michael and Malachi on the couch. You could tell they're setting up the LSU games. It was cool going back in time. They were talking, but then they go straight into Baton Rouge with the. With the Malachi late in her shot. Tom Leach was interviewed a lot. Tom did a good job. But overall, like, if you sat down, like, I'm going to get some answers about this year. If you were tuned in all year to what was going on, you didn't learn anything new.
Matt Jones
Okay, it was pretty good. I would love this. I'd like to see it and see what. See what that's like. Now, the other thing, so you have to understand, I. I went to the. Dude went to the Duke, Connecticut, all the St. John's all those games in D.C. on. I was there on Sunday. Then, like the rest of the week, I was doing some things, but I was just pretty chill. And then I'm sitting there on Thursday eating lunch, and, you know, I always have my phone and I was like, I'm gonna have lunch. I'm having lunch with a friend. Turn it upside down. And then I turned it over and, you know, had like 10 phone calls,
Ryan Lemond
and I'm like, tweet went out.
Matt Jones
What is this? And then I see the tweet has gone out about me and Myron potentially taking a job at ESPN Radio. What was weird is it didn't feel like UK fans had seen it. It was like media people. And then I think later that night, maybe Oscar retweeted it.
Ryan Lemond
That's when the Kentucky fans saw.
Matt Jones
And that's when the Kentucky fans, but, like, I had dealt, had to deal with a day of it where it didn't feel like Kentucky fans. Did you all see it?
Ryan Lemond
I don't think I saw it till that evening.
Drew Franklin
I had people send it to me, just kind of like, hey, what's this? But it wasn't like, an overwhelming. Like, my phone didn't blow up. I mean, just a few people texted.
Matt Jones
Like, that was a really weird thing because I've never had that happen where, like, something gets out, and I had no idea that it was coming. So then, of course, like, everybody's right. So I just wanted to say I didn't say anything about it because, really, there's nothing to say right now. Like, I think that's. That story said that we were, like, leading candidates for this job. I don't know. I mean, if they say so. I don't know. I mean, we've had conversations with espn and, you know, we'll see. There's nothing that I. There's nothing I can really say. I. It was one of those, like, oh, well, no one told me, so I. So I don't know. I. I don't know, to be honest with you. Now, what I can say with confidence is no matter what happens with that or with any other particular job, by the way, I've been up, up and considered a lot of jobs over the last 10 years, including with a number of companies that, you know, and I just have decided not to do it. Or maybe they've decided not. Not to do it. So. But the one thing I can tell you is this show will continue with me on it no matter what. Okay. No matter what I decide to do or what someone asked me to do, we'll still be doing this. Now, could it change in terms of time of day? Yeah, it could, depending on what happens. But it will still be around, and it will still exist, and it will still have me on it. But I. I know I've had. Since Oscar tweeted it, 500 people write me and go, are you going to say something? I don't really have anything to say because the story said I was a leading candidate, but doesn't mean you have the job. And I found out I was the leading candidate from the story.
Ryan Lemond
You think ESPN leaked it out to somebody?
Matt Jones
I have no idea. I mean, it didn't come from me. I know.
Ryan Lemond
That did come from Myron.
Matt Jones
I would very highly doubt it came from Myron, because Myron's at the Final Four, and he, all of a sudden, he gets people like. And he. He was, where's this coming from?
Drew Franklin
My trying to write about Dusty.
Matt Jones
Myron called me and was like, did you say it? And I was like, no, I thought you said it. So anyway, we'll see.
Ryan Lemond
Well, after Oscar's tweet, yeah, like Drew said, we got a bunch of people Asking us worried about what would happen to this show.
Matt Jones
This show will. The only reason I'm bringing this up is I do think it's important for people to know this show will still exist. I did hear through the grapevine that, like, Louisville media was, like, dancing, that this show was going to go away. Well, you're gonna have to stop dance. There are no more dance. I mean, you can dance if you want. We will still exist. And if you're not careful, we'll come up against you.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, watch your time slots.
Matt Jones
Remember, like, y' all have avoided this time slot over the years. Well, we'll just come to you if you want, because that could be what ends up happening depending on what time of day you're on.
Drew Franklin
I feel like we can probably just knowing you, eliminate a 6am KSR morning drive situation.
Matt Jones
I think that's fair.
Donald
Just.
Drew Franklin
Just knowing you a little bit.
Matt Jones
It's fair to say it won't be on before this. I'm not a big getter upper early in the morning. So if you're. If you're trying to guess, I could be fair to say it won't occur
Ryan Lemond
before 10am we're all behind you. We support you. There's a great. Could be a great opportunity for you and Myron. We'll follow you wherever you go. If you go to one in the morning, two in the morning, six in the morning, we'll follow you along.
Matt Jones
Well, that's nice of you. Are you speaking for everyone?
Ryan Lemond
I'm speaking for everyone.
Drew Franklin
Rounds the most worried person I know.
Matt Jones
I will say we did Drew. We did a zoom. I wanted to tell everybody myself.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
What was going on? And we zoomed the whole KSR group, and it looked like Ryan was gonna poop his pants.
Drew Franklin
He's just worried.
Matt Jones
Ryan had a look of terror. Why didn't you? Just because we didn't do that till Friday. Why didn't you just call? You seemed so I could tell on the call. You've got my phone number.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. I didn't want to bother you on vacation. I know we'd talk when you came back. I've just said to say my prayers.
Drew Franklin
Can I tell you my favorite part of the zoom?
Matt Jones
Yes.
Drew Franklin
When Ryan had to leave early to do a radio hit and he couldn't turn off the Zoom. Remember the old periscope days? And you just yell, right?
Matt Jones
Let me ask you a question. Let me bring Rick on. Shannon's out this week. Rick, if you were on a zoom call and you needed to leave, what would you do?
Ryan Lemond
I'd probably say I need to go poop.
Matt Jones
That was not what he needed to do. Rick, would you say though, like I'm going to go and let's say you couldn't get the zoom to turn off, what would you do?
Drew Franklin
Oh geez.
Matt Jones
Make a sign and put it in
Ryan Lemond
front of the computer and say we'll
Matt Jones
be back in a few minutes. Okay, here's another thing. Just turn your phone off.
Ryan Lemond
That's what I ended up doing. I couldn't find the.
Matt Jones
Ryan was just like, how do I get out of here? What do I do? And I was like, just exit the phone call. And you're like, I don't know how close the app. Just turn the app off. Like you were. You were freaking out about how to get off the. You literally any phone call, you can just hit the power button.
Ryan Lemond
I thought on the zoom call there'd be like a red button to get
Drew Franklin
that says there is.
Matt Jones
It says I didn't have it. It wasn't there.
Ryan Lemond
I had your five faces on my screen in no other place.
Drew Franklin
It was a throwback to the periscope days for the long time KSR people, when you could never turn off your periscope and you would just be hitting your phone.
Matt Jones
Oh, that is true. I guess I did that. Grilling season is here and you could stock up with Noche Linda Farms beef. How good is it? Well, here's a recent Google review. 5 stars and is absolutely deserved. From the start the customer services have been amazing and that alone made a great impression. Having tried the burgers at ksbar, I purchased a sampler box and it was amazing. The quality is apparent. I can't imagine buying from a grocery store ever again. And I've started a monthly subscription. It's really that good. And it's no J Linda Farms. Go to Noche linda farms.com n o c h e linda farms.com or call 859-707-7004 to schedule a visit. We'll take a break and be right back. It's ksr.

Matt, what players do you think from the portal are interested with us? I honestly don't know. We. I'm gonna have conversations this afternoon where I think by tonight I'll have a better idea of who's Kentucky is going after. I haven't gotten to have those, but I'm. I think I'll have them tonight, so I think I'll have a better idea. The only person I know, and I don't know if he's entered the portal yet, is the kid from. From Syracuse entered the portal.
Ryan Lemond
The point guard?
Drew Franklin
No, I haven't seen it yet.
Matt Jones
Freeman?
Drew Franklin
Yeah. Donnie Freeman. I don't know.
Matt Jones
He hasn't entered the portal then? I didn't say that.
Drew Franklin
A big one. Just hit the portal during the break
Matt Jones
though, to watch the.
Drew Franklin
Blackwell. Wisconsin. Yeah.
Matt Jones
Kentucky wants him, but so does everybody.
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Matt Jones
So I think like Duke's gonna want him. I. I don't know if we. I don't know if we'll get. But I think the, the kid from Syracuse. I. I'm fairly certain they're. They're very interested in him. Freeman? Yeah.
Drew Franklin
His name and Blackwell. There's, you know, all the Internet rumors are spurring saying Kentucky's prepared to make him a rich man if he wants to come here now. I mean, he still has to make that decision. That is one to watch. He might be the best guard in the portal now.
Matt Jones
He would be. He would be your he. I don't. I just heard Freeman's name this morning. What position does he play?
Drew Franklin
He's more like a guard. Forward, Big forward.
Matt Jones
Can he shoot? That's what I want. Can. Are there people that can shoot?
Drew Franklin
No, he can't really shoot.
Matt Jones
Well, good. That's what we need.
Drew Franklin
And then Kaden Lewis is in the portal. He can't really shoot either, but I know a lot of players want him. Yeah, he's 56% from the free throw line. That's crazy for a guard playing.
Matt Jones
Shot 56 from the free throw line
Drew Franklin
starting every single game.
Matt Jones
I'm out the Kaden Lewis.
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I'm out. So I do think I'll have a better. A better idea on that stuff. On that stuff later. One person writes, matt, I listened to you yesterday on your show with Myron, with Tim Welsh. He sounded like you all fought the whole time. No, but that was unique, doing a show with that guy. Yeah, I liked him a lot. He's a nice guy, but he's like. I couldn't tell for a long time if he. If he liked me.
Ryan Lemond
Just argumentative a lot.
Matt Jones
No, I just think, like, he's a coach. And, you know, coaches are like. They take up for co. Like, we had to argue. I would encourage everyone to go listen to the last 10 minutes of hour one yesterday.
Ryan Lemond
Okay.
Matt Jones
We're talking about Gino Arima and Dawn Staley. And I went back and listened to it this morning, and it was a little more tense than I realized. In the moment. In the moment, I thought, like, we were just playing around. And then when you listen back to. You're like, oh, okay. But we had a good show. We interviewed. I interviewed Jim Calhoun yesterday. Oh, wow, that's on hour three. And he said, like, he said a word that you can't say on the radio, but he said, really? Yeah.
Drew Franklin
Honestly, doesn't surprise me from him, coming from.
Matt Jones
He never does interviews, but he likes Tim, so he did it. And so I interviewed Jim Calhoun, Karan Butler. Like, we had a. We had all kinds of people, but. But go back and listen to our Geno Don Staley comment. By the way, what'd you think of that?
Ryan Lemond
It was a bad look for Geno. I thought he came across as a sorry, whiny loser.
Matt Jones
So did I. What's wrong with you, Gino? Like, he kept. I was watching the game live, and when he did that third quarter interview, I was like, dude, yes. What is up with you? And then at the end, by the way, have you seen the clip from the other side?
Ryan Lemond
You can kind of read their lips.
Matt Jones
Well, you can read their lips. Don Staley sitting there going, I will kick Geno's ass.
Drew Franklin
And I believe she.
Matt Jones
I believe it.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. I would put money on her and that.
Matt Jones
I wouldn't mess with that woman. Would you?
Drew Franklin
No. I'm all in on Don Staley on this side. Gino and of all people, shocked me coming from him.
Matt Jones
And then he apologized to the staff, but not her. I mean, that was our argument, me and Tim Welsh. He was like, well, she apologized to the staff. And I said, yeah, but he didn't yell at the staff. He Yelled at Don Stale.
Ryan Lemond
Yes.
Matt Jones
You didn't say her name. And he was like, well, that includes this. Don't. I was like, come on, Tim. Tim. And he didn't. He's not going to. He didn't want to criticize him. And so it was, you know, it
Drew Franklin
was a sore loser.
Ryan Lemond
Gino, obviously one of the. Maybe the best women's college coach of all time. But from here on out, when I hear his name, I want to think of him yelling at Don Staley.
Matt Jones
My jersey was torn. Well, your own player tore the jersey. I was all for Don State.
Ryan Lemond
Me, too.
Drew Franklin
I kind of wanted the fight.
Matt Jones
And she was like, oh, she would have killed him. She was like. She said, I will kick his ass, like 10 times.
Ryan Lemond
Yes. Yes, she did.
Matt Jones
I remember, you know what Myron said on the show? Myron said, gino's lucky that they. That they held dawn back because there were some people that would have come out of the crowd without a Social Security number. After. I was like, okay, South Carolina. I wouldn't listen, but I'm Gino. I hate listening. Looking. People whine, you've won 12 titles.
Ryan Lemond
Yes.
Drew Franklin
And when he beat her last year, it's all this big hug and this love face. When he's getting his butt kicked, you know he's throwing a fit.
Matt Jones
Yeah. When they win. Oh, you're a great team. When they lose.
Ryan Lemond
You didn't shake my hand before.
Matt Jones
Yeah, and what was he, mad? He didn't shake the hand before the game.
Ryan Lemond
And you mentioned it after the game,
Drew Franklin
but then didn't it come out? They did shake hands.
Matt Jones
So it's shake hands twice. Apparently he's supposed to shake hands twice.
Drew Franklin
He doesn't even know what he's saying.
Matt Jones
I'm all in for Jito. We'll take a. Take a break. Be right back.
Chelsea Handler
This is Chelsea Handler from Dear Chelsea. After the big game, like most people, I kept thinking about the commercials. And there was one that stayed with me. It was from the Blue Square Alliance Against Hate. And it wasn't loud or flashy. It showed a Jewish kid being targeted at school and another student who chose not to ignore it. As someone who is Jewish, that moment felt very real to me. Not dramatic, just familiar. And what struck me was how clearly it showed that hate doesn't always announce itself, but the. The impact is still huge. If you saw the blue square spot during the big game, it's worth thinking about. And if you want to show support, sharing the blue square is one small way to do that.
