Chelsea Handler
This is Chelsea handler from Dear C.H. after the big Game, like most people, I kept thinking about the commercials. And there was one that stayed with me. It was from the Blue Square Alliance Against Hate. And it wasn't loud or flashy. It showed a Jewish kid being targeted at school and another student who chose not to ignore it. As someone who is Jewish, that moment felt very real to me. Not dramatic, just familiar. And what struck me was how clearly it showed that hate doesn't always announce itself. But the impact is still huge. If you saw the Blue Square spot during the Big Game, it's worth thinking about. And if you want to show support, sharing the Blue Square is one small way to do that.

Caller or Guest
It is.
Matt Jones
We were going to be in person and then technical difficulties and other things made it impossible. So this is our KSR Bowling league remote.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Let's go. Yeah.
Matt Jones
So for people who don't know, the KSR bowling league is back.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
It's back.
Matt Jones
It's back. Starting April 29th through July 22nd, you can bowl with your KSR friends. And in a bowling league, all levels, sizes, abilities.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Yes.
Matt Jones
Are allowed to play. April 29th is the first week. If we get a 36 team sellout, they'll have over $10,000 in price. Oh wow.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
We got to get that if we
Matt Jones
have to sell it. Yeah, but otherwise there'll still be prices.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
It's been sold out in the past.
Matt Jones
It has now. There you can pay weekly. So if you can't come every week, you could do the weekly or you can do an entire 12 week package. It's at Southland Bowling Lanes. You can learn more@ksr bowling.com now we've done this in years past.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Yes, we have.
Matt Jones
And then after Covid we, we did it a couple times. It wasn't completely everybody's schedules were weird. But this summer we are going to do it and we're going to have KSR teams. Remember in years past we had Vince Merrow and other people show up. Hopefully we could have some of the new football coaches come during the period. Cool to ask them. Obviously, if not all of all of our various KSR community will be out there.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
The football coaches are going to take us bowling. So we should take them bowling this summer.
Matt Jones
I like the thought process. I do. So ksr bowling.com the first meeting night is the 22nd and that's like just to kind of practice and meet. And apparently they'll have pizza.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Their pizza is really good.
Matt Jones
Oh, and there's April 22nd. Free bowling.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Oh, there you go.
Matt Jones
For people who are going to be in the league. And it starts on the 29th. So in years past we've had crazy team names.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Yes.
Matt Jones
Sometimes people made uniforms.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
The Betty Boops are always there.
Matt Jones
Betty boops. So KSR bowling.com I would suggest for the ladies of KSR group. You all should get it definitely should get the guys if you want to do it. Young, old. KSR bowling.com I'll be at the first one and we'll have someone there at all of them. And I'm going to go to a few of them this year because I need to practice my.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Practice your bowling?
Matt Jones
Yeah, because you. First of all, you need to hush. You were the worst of the group. Drew said Drew is pretty good. I was usually second. You were the worst. We'll get Tom Leach. Remember when Tom Leach.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
I've spent the whole time just asking Tom stories. I didn't want to bowl.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Coach Mingy own played with us one time.
Matt Jones
I bet we could get him again.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
And I've been watching Born to bowl so I feel like I'm ready. I feel like I'm guppy troop over here.
Matt Jones
Bring the new baby, of course. Maybe pick up the ball though.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Probably won't let her ball. But surely she can eat a little
Matt Jones
south and lanes pizza now.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
So Ryan's not wrong. That's some of the best pizza in Lexington. It's really good.
Matt Jones
So ksr bowling.com check it out. We'll be talking more about his show goes on. Now you we're going to talk a little bit later about the masters. But for people who don't know, we had mentioned on our podcast yesterday Interrupted that that Drew is required to name his baby the first name of whoever wins the master.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Yes. Required as in I told Abby that's what I want to do and I'm sure she's fine with it.
Matt Jones
A girl. Yes. At this very moment the leader is Hosea Marie Olathobal, which is the one I wanted from the beginning. So Jose Maria. I think you could even drop Jose.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Maria Franklin.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
I like Jose Maria Franklin.
Matt Jones
I am rooting for.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
He's got what's he is in his 60s.
Matt Jones
How old is Jose's got to be 90 I joked for a month that
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
he's going to be the. The winner and I'm gonna have to name her Jose Maria. And to see that he's leading this morning makes me happier than anything.
Matt Jones
Jose Maria Franklin.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Like Scotty. No, Rory.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
That little role to it.
Matt Jones
I kind of like it. Jose Maria. And who's in second?
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
I have to pull that up. Hopefully Siwu or Hideki or Siwu Franklin
Matt Jones
would be another really good one.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
So we'll be Sam Burns.
Matt Jones
Sam.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
That's. No, no.
Matt Jones
Samantha. Yeah, too normal. I think Sam would be.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Let's go.
Matt Jones
Ox.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Shay.
Matt Jones
Come on.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Auction.
Matt Jones
Oxy. Well. Well, we will. We'll be keeping up with the leaderboard to see. So this is going to be an ask Anything Thursday.
Liberty Mutual Spokesperson
It.
Matt Jones
We've got. I've got topics but like none of them are except for the first one. Really all that extensive. So it's portal season. It's also off season. It's a good chance to ask anything. 859-280-2287. Phone lines are open. I can see them. Rick's ready to answer. You got that trigger finger ready, Rick?
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
You betcha.
Matt Jones
All right, so there you go. I love Rick's pause but excitement. 859-280-2287 but before we do that, I guess the big news is Colin Chandler is in the portal. He is going not gonna play for Kentucky next year. Early reports seem to suggest he. He went into the portal with a do not contact me, which I like that I'm in the portal, but leave me alone.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
I'm on airplane mode.
Matt Jones
So that means that he knows where he's going. And all indications seem to be that it is to BYU his his home place. Even though he grew up a Utah fan. I was told, and I'm not the only person other people have said this, that the assumption, the assumption had been that he would return amongst UK people. I think UK staff actually was building a roster with the idea he would be back. Um, I was told 10 days ago that they thought they had a deal with him. But apparently last year BYU came in and said, we will give you an increase of money to come here. And the increase was not significant enough that Colin did go and was like, well, I think I'll just stay here. But this year I think this is one of those things where you just throw. He threw out a wild number and then they said yes. And then he went back to UK and UK was like, we, we, we just, we can't do that. It would have been an amount of money I am told that would have been the second most they have paid for a place player. I can do the math to kind of think of what that is because I think I know what the highest paid player made. But, you know, I really wanted him to be here. I think he's really good. I think he has a lot of value. I like Colin, but I don't think he has enough value to be the second highest player, which, depending on who Kentucky gets, might have made him the highest paid player this year. There are only a couple guys, I think Kentucky's looking at that they would pay more than they paid their top guy last year. And if that's so, you can't pay Colin that amount. So even though I wish he was here and I think he'll be really good, I hate. I get it. What about you?
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Yeah, I mean, I obviously wanted Colin to stay last night. We turned out the lights on the fan club, refunded everybody's membership, dues were closed. I wanted him back bad. I know he's not perfect. Sure he can be a better dribbler, could create his shots better, but I think about all the winning plays he made late in games. I mean, the three against Tennessee stands out, but there were several others. And then his three point shooting will be hard to replace. So I think he's going to be. They're going to miss him a lot and he will be hard. Find somebody to fill that spot on the portal. However, I like that Pope isn't budging and overpaying for guys now.
Matt Jones
I think I like Pope standing his
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
ground and saying, look, I would love to have you, but I'm not paying that.
Matt Jones
I think last year what would happen is these guys would say this and they would just do it. And I think this year they're like, all right, you're worth this. If. If they'll give you that, then okay, I guess. I mean, I would guess. This is just. There are reports out there I can't confirm this is the number. All I can confirm is second most money. But there are reports out there. I think Jack Pilgrim said he asked for 3.2. I would say just as a guess, UK was interested in paying him. It's a gas. But I'm just, I think an educated guess. 1.7, 1.8, maybe 2. I mean, you can't just pay over a million dollars extra or it'll hurt you with the other people you got to go get. So I get it right.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
I'm like everybody else kind of shocked, little surprised because every time we talked about who was coming back. The first name we always, always said was Colin Chandler. But they need to spend their money and go get dudes. No disrespect to Colin Chandler. They need to go get guys.
Matt Jones
You don't think he's a dude?
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
I don't think he can be the dude you're looking for if you're trying to improve yourself next year.
Matt Jones
I don't think he can be your best player.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Can he be your second or third best player on a really good team?
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Yes, he can.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
I believe.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
I believe he would have been, but I think they still got to go out and get. Like I said, all due respect, couple guys better than him and that's what they need that money for.
Matt Jones
I think you're probably right.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Yeah.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
This will be fine if Pope goes and just gets someone that can fill that spot. Now, why?
Matt Jones
Said he's replaceable on the court. I mean, he's very good. He's not going to be easy to replace. You might find somebody worse. But he is replaceable. But I'm bummed because you're right. He was very clutch. I mean, he made a bunch of big shots. Last big shot.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
I mean, there were timely steals late in games that led to OA getting game winners. I mean, I know it was one off thing, but that passed him. Reno was insane. I mean, you can't expect him to do that all the time. But I mean, he made a lot of memorable plays that helped Kentucky win some tough games, and I think that'll hurt. And Pope talked a lot about retention after the season, and he specifically named Yellow Vic Moreno and Chandler, and two of the three are gone. So in Pope's mind, a month ago, I think he thought he'd have those guys back. But when that number gets put on the table, I can understand why Pope says, look, man, I can't do that.
Matt Jones
So when those guys leave, the question is going to be what? What are they replaced by? I mean, ultimately, I don't think you can judge in the Portal era, I don't think you can judge losing guys until you see who replaces. If you replace them with somebody equally as good or better, then what difference does it make? But if you replace them with somebody worse than it mattered. So really we won't know for a while.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Right.
Matt Jones
And then we will find out.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
At that point, BYU obviously went out and wanted to. Wanted to get Colin Chance.
Matt Jones
Well, they lost their whole team.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Yes.
Matt Jones
So this is just. This is just me just guessing. I think BYU probably offered Chandler about what Kentucky did, but tried to sell, come home, and then they lost their whole team.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And when they lost their whole team, they went, well, we got to have
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
a team extra money to spend, too.
Matt Jones
So then they came and then upped up the ante quite a bit.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Yeah. Right in the. Entering the portal yesterday. For them, he'll be one of the most expensive guards.
Matt Jones
But they had, like, three other people.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
And then Debons is leaving. You know, that was a big part of the budget. Also. Part of this is when you overpay everybody last year, and they come back to the table this year, and you're telling they're gonna make less. You can't expect them to. To take that.
Matt Jones
Yeah. I mean, that's exactly.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Like if I'm. If I'm mowing your yard for $100 a week, and then I show up the next week, you're like, I'm gonna pay you 50. I'm probably not gonna mow your yard. I mean, it's.
Matt Jones
I'm not paying you a hundred dollars. That's true.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
You got a big yard, though. But, I mean, they paid them so well last year that those guys have an expectation that they would get that or more, and Kentucky can't do that again.
Matt Jones
They want that level of yard.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
You got a big yard. I have a little push mower. It would take me a while. Call it 75 and access to the pool.
Matt Jones
Deal. Okay. I mean, maybe that was a bad
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
analogy, but I'm saying overpaying.
Matt Jones
All these guys didn't want to give Colin access to the pool.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Exactly. But paying them. And this goes for everybody on the team. Last year, you paid them so much, you're having to tell them to kind of take a pay cut to come back.
Matt Jones
One thing we know is that Derek Johnson was wrong on Pope's ability to relate just to Colin.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Yeah. So what do you say? Those people that are saying that this just goes to prove Pope cannot relate to anybody in the locker room, especially the one guy that they thought he
Matt Jones
had anything to do with relating.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
It was all just money.
Matt Jones
First of all, if Pope couldn't relate to anyone in the locker room, then no one would have come back.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Two guys came back. Right. So this is the modern college basketball now. Do I think some coaches can get people to stay maybe easier than others? Yeah. And maybe that wasn't Pope last year, but ultimately, I'm confident that when it comes to Colin, it was. It was a money thing. Let just think about it like this. Let's say that you live in Minneapolis and You worked when you were in TV for a Minneapolis TV station that you really like.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
All right.
Matt Jones
And you had developed co workers you like and that you love Minneapolis. Right. And they're paying you $80,000 a year,
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
got an apartment with a nice kitchen.
Matt Jones
Then in comes Wlex incomes Wlax and says, we'll give you 80,000, come back to Lexington. And you'll go, yeah, but I've kind of built a life here in Minneapolis, right?
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Like, my co workers like my job. I don't think I'm gonna do it. And then the next day they go and come, why don't you come home? And it's $150,000.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Sign me up.
Matt Jones
You're going, I'm going, that's enough.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Yep, that's enough.
Matt Jones
And so I think that's kind of what this. What this was.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Yeah. I don't blame him at all one bit for wanting to go home, especially taking that kind of money. That's.
Matt Jones
You can go home and get more money.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yes.
Matt Jones
You do it, probably.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Absolutely. And like I said, anyone that think, you know, Pope lost this, I. I'm on Pope's side. If it's truly Chandler just had a price they can't match because last year got a little carried away with the money. I'm glad we're working with a better
Matt Jones
budget, by the way, for taking money. One of the things I see a lot is people go, you know, you're being selfish, or you just out for the money, y'. All. Everybody would do the same thing.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Yes, they would.
Matt Jones
I mean, they would. Especially when you're, like, at an age where you haven't made a lot. Maybe when you've made a lot of money, you don't care as much about things. But, like, there's no certainty Chandler's a pro.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
No.
Matt Jones
Right. There's no. He's also older. You have to remember he's. He is fifth year senior age, and
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
he talks about starting a family. He's already married. He's just more mature than a college kid.
Matt Jones
Usually wife and. And bills and. Yeah. So, you know, I mean, sometimes you gotta make it while you can. So I don't blame him for doing it. Doing it either. I don't really blame any of these guys for doing it. Like, get one chance in life, you gotta. You do have to look out for yourself if you're these kids. 859-280-2287. Ask anything Thursday. We will take your calls, talk your questions, get you ready. It's KSR bowling league.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Is that Your sound effect for a strike.
Matt Jones
Yes.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Turkey.
Matt Jones
We'll be right back.

Yeah. Welcome back, techie Sports radio, KSR bowling league. You get four bowlers on a team. You also can have four subs. So if everybody can't come every week, vacation, et cetera, you can get subs, but your team will go every week. There's the handicap leads, which means it's your actual score based on a 2:30 minus your average times 90%. I didn't know there'd be math.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Just a lot of math.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Yeah, I'm out.
Matt Jones
Yeah. I don't know what that means, but they'll just tell you if you win or not.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Oh, it does it for you. You don't have to sit there and do the math yourself. But us on the radio show, we've
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
had people, you guys know this. Been in every league from the first, from day one. They keep coming back for this.
Matt Jones
I better see him back at this one.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Yes.
Matt Jones
KSR bowling.com get going. All right, so somebody wrote. This is a good question, Matt. What do you guys think? Think about the four teams in the final four. Arizona, Michigan, UConn, Illinois. Does Colin Chandler start for any of them?
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Wow.
Matt Jones
Does not start for Michigan. Probably doesn't start for Illinois or, excuse me, for Arizona.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
I don't think he starts for Illinois.
Matt Jones
Might start for Illinois, but might not Yukon.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Him and Mullins. Kind of. Kind of.
Matt Jones
Probably not. That's an interesting way to look at it.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Yeah, it is.
Matt Jones
You know, that's the first time I thought of it like that. This year's Colin Chandler probably does not start for any of the Final four teams. Now, you look at the elite Eight teams, he probably would start for Iowa. Probably would have started. I don't know if he just probably would have started or played for Tennessee.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
He want us that Tennessee game when he started guarding Nate. Amen.
Matt Jones
But no, I mean, that's a fair point. Four teams made the Final Four. We want to be in the Final Four. Does Colin Chandler start for any of those teams this year? Probably not now. Would he have started next year? I don't know. But, like, you got to think, okay, the four teams that replace them, would he start for them?
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
I do think he's due for a big leap next year.
Matt Jones
Like, well, we thought that this year.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Well, I think he made a big leap. I think he's going to continue.
Matt Jones
That's true. He did.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
I think there's a lot to be in a way for two years and getting your footing back. That's why his freshman year was kind of started slow and he turned it on. Right.
Matt Jones
I think if he averages 17 a game and he's second team all Big 12 next year, that'll stick.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
It will. But the hope is Pope goes out and we have something we love and we're enjoying.
Matt Jones
Did you also. Did you rhyme that on purpose? The hope.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
The hope is Pope. Yeah, I have hope and Pope.
Matt Jones
All right, well, good.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
We do need some booms. Let's go get some booms.
Matt Jones
We need some booms. Usually big booms come when I'm distracted. I sign for my house at one and I'm meeting people all afternoon. Normally, good news comes when I'm not close to my phone. One to five o'.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Clock.
Matt Jones
I'm not going to be there. That's the time. Uk, you want to put one to me? One to five.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
We've been zooming. Now let's start booming.
Matt Jones
Let's start booming.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Booming.
Matt Jones
All right, Freebird, go for it.
Caller or Guest
Hey, guys. Just sitting here taking some time off, watching Andy Griffith question for you.
Matt Jones
Of course, that's. That's how you know. Are you retired, Freebird?
Caller or Guest
No, I'm taking some time off from a major surgery.
Matt Jones
Okay, well, good. Nothing better than resting with Andy and Barney. Go ahead.
Caller or Guest
Oh, yes. Out of the final four teams you just mentioned, if we're playing them at their prime, who beats us by 30? Who beats us by 15?
Matt Jones
Keep it short and sweet, Michigan. Well, okay. Are we playing our best? Is it their best versus our best? Their best. Michigan destroys us 20 at least. Arizona, 15. 15 to 20. Yukon. I think we could be competitive with but probably lose 8 to 10. Illinois. I think we could beat Illinois, but they also could destroy for Illinois. It's all whether or not they're hitting threes. So if it's their best versus our best, they beat us by 10. But there are many more worlds. We could win games against Illinois. Cause they can go cold sometime, Drew, and not be very good.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Yeah, they could go cold. They have a lot of size. That would hurt Kentucky, but.
Matt Jones
But no, I mean, we're distinct underdogs against all of those teams, if that's your point.
Caller or Guest
Well, distinct is a good word because, you know, we got to get something. I don't know what's worse. Right. Right now. When we were on the COVID of Sports Illustrated.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I appreciate the call. I think that's a little dramatic. It was worse when we were on the death penalty. Couldn't even watch the game. Michigan and Arizona were the two. Were the only two teams in the tournament. I thought, there's not a scenario we can beat them. I think anybody else in a given game, you could have beat them, but you also could have gotten run off the floor. I don't think there's a way we beat Michigan or Arizona with the way that.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
No way Michigan and UConn played each other in that championship where they were just getting away with fouls and playing so physical. I mean, that was a fight. We wouldn't have stood a chance. No, no.
Matt Jones
Yukon's better than us, but UConn lost to, like, Creighton and Marquette. Like, they could have been beaten.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Oh, yeah. They have some bad losses.
Matt Jones
They have some bad.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
But that physicality we wouldn't have been able to stand with in that.
Matt Jones
Jamal, go ahead. Fake Jamal, go ahead. Sir.
Caller or Guest
Gentlemen.
M
How are you doing?
Matt Jones
I'm good. What's going on? Is this fake Jamel I've heard?
M
Yeah, this is fake jamil from, like 20 years ago. Fake Jamila from, like, making you mad about things I blog.
Matt Jones
I know that voice from the past. Hello, old friend. How are you, stranger? Like, that's from your long time ago KSR website. What's going on?
M
Not much. Guys, I was. I've been engrossed in the technical field and I have been experimenting with AI. And I know now, especially with Colin Chandler leaving the team, I'm thinking that UK is going to need some more analytics help. Now, I know they have that one thing. What was it called? Blueprint. Y' all were talking about that yesterday.
Matt Jones
Yes.
M
So I have developed another tool that I am calling Chat cbg.
Matt Jones
What does that stand for?
M
Well, let me. Let me show you the results. What I've done is I've Take. Taken.
Matt Jones
All right, you gotta. You got 40 seconds, Jamel. You got to make it quick.
M
All right, I've got. I've taken a former coach, ingrated his. All his knowledge into an AI database, large language model, and now I'm going to ask him what his assessment of the team was from last year. Hang on a second. Add two and it says Chad. CGB says they just weren't tough enough.
Matt Jones
Oh, Billy Gillespie. Coach Billy Gillespie. It took me a second, but it took. What? They weren't tough enough. Fake Jamel, it is nice to hear your voice again. I hope you're doing well, doing great.
M
I'm so glad that you guys are still kicking it and I'm really proud of y' all's success.
Matt Jones
Thank you, Jamil. Appreciate it. Wow, that's a 15 years ago blogger.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Matt Jones
No kidding. We'll take a break. Barry backs KSR. He was the glass. Welcome back, techie Sports radio. You know, you got to go like Ryan. You didn't even know who Fake Jamil was, right?
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
I had never heard of him. So he definitely before my time in 2011 because I didn't know who this guy was.
Matt Jones
Yeah, that was way back. That's way back.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Way, way, way tournament.
Matt Jones
We were sort of going through who are all the people that have ever written for ksr. And like, we couldn't come up with all names. We did mention him. He wrote for a long time.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Did he really? For the website?
Matt Jones
Yeah, he was kind of. He was kind of like the writer for the Nerds.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
It was Fake Jamel Martinez.
Matt Jones
He did was. And he would make people really mad, but some people really liked him. He had like a very cult following. It was just. It was a different time in the Internet. You know, he was even before me. Was he before you?
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
I mean, we crossed over a lot. I worked with him a lot, but he started before me.
Matt Jones
So, you know, I was the first writer. And my friends, I'm trying to figure out who the first person that wasn't me that I added. Were you before tj?
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
No, TJ was before me.
Matt Jones
So my guess, maybe it was tj. Yeah, TJ was probably the first one. And then we had all this blogger content. Oh, no. Bt.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
I think he's the first.
Matt Jones
See, we always forget bti. It was. He was the first.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
So I got stand up.
Matt Jones
He was the first because he was working on the radio show that rate. So.
Caller or Guest
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Wow, that was a blast. From the past. 859-280-2287. It is Ask Anything Thursday. So let's just go to Joe. Go ahead, Joe.
Caller or Guest
Hey, man. I had a quick thing hit my head the second I saw Colin enter the portal. And that was the Ted DiBiase theme song. And that iconic laughter that he used to have.
Matt Jones
Yes.
Caller or Guest
Yeah, it. I mean, I hate it. I was, you know, on the bandwagon early with Drew. Here's my question. I'm fearful that, yeah, Pope's doing the right thing, that, you know, we're not overpaying for him, because as much as I'd love to keep him, I think he can be replaced. But are we doing the exact same thing with Tyron Stokes? Are we going to overpay for a guy that's just not going to fit even though he.
Matt Jones
Well, I mean, that's a great. It's a great question. I mean, I appreciate the call. If we get Tyron Stokes, I think everyone's going to be really happy. Number one ranked recruit when we haven't had the number one player in America since Scout. I think scowl is scal. I mean, how many times did we get the number one guy in America? John Wall was the number one guy in America. Anthony Davis was.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Carl was, wasn't he?
Matt Jones
No, I thought Carl 4 was.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
And Anthony Davis was number two on one of the sites, too. He wasn't even a consensus.
Matt Jones
That's right. The guy that went to. Well, I mean, he went.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Yeah, he was still.
Matt Jones
Yeah. I mean, Avery Bradley was ahead of John Wall and 1. I think you can pretty regularly though, say that Wall was one, Davis was one, and then scowl. Those are the three we've had. So we haven't had one since Scout. So if you get that kid, there is a sense of, like, Kentucky's back in this, but then there's also a sense you've put a lot of money in him. I mean, he'll end up being. I think if Tyron Stokes is going to end up being the top. One of the top three nil deals of all time, right now, it's probably AJ DebonSA, Yaxel, and then Stokes will be right there. I don't know what the order will be. So if you get him, you're acknowledging that. That you have given that amount of money, which is going to be a huge part of your cap.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Oh, yeah.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
But where we are at this point in our program and Pope's career, he needs that.
Matt Jones
Is it worth it? Well, that's my question. So is Tyron Stokes worth three Colin Chandlers, or let's just say under his current price, two Colin Chandlers. Would you rather have. Would you rather have two Colin Chandlers or one Tyron Stokes?
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Stokes, there's. You can get other channels.
Matt Jones
Let me put it a different way, but you rather have a Colin Chandler, a diabate and a yellow bitch or Tyron Stokes.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
I just think for the perception of the program, he's got to get that number one stud, high profile guy to say, hey, we still is Kentucky, you
Matt Jones
know, because I think if you get. If you get tired, Stokes, you will pay for him what you paid for Chandler. Yellow vic diabate combined last year with Stokes.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
I'm picturing him walking across the stage as the number one pick with the Kentucky logo everywhere. And I think Mark Pope needs that to get a little. Little swag back around Kentucky and proving he can have process do it even
Matt Jones
better because this is what it is.
Caller or Guest
Okay.
Matt Jones
Okay. This is what it is because I'm trying to think, because you got to have two other people in your roster. So I'm going to use the money from last year versus what I think Stokes would cost and ask which one would you rather have? Okay, would you rather have a Stokes, a yellow bitch and a Noah, or would you rather have Aberdeen, diabate Chandler? So you get Stokes, Noah, yellowich, Aberdeen, diabate Chandler.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
I'm going Stokes for everything that comes with it. I mean, we want to be on the commercials again. We want to be cool again.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Stokes, even if he doesn't really gel well with Pope and maybe you don't go to the final, whatever, maybe it doesn't work out, there's still a layer that he brings that those other guys.
Matt Jones
I just want people to also realize Stokes may cost, for instance, away and Aberdeen cost together.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
I just think at this point, I
Matt Jones
mean, I'm just being real like that. That may be. That may be what it is.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
We're just paying to be cool again with Stokes.
Matt Jones
And he's very good. We need to win.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
We need to win, too. But I mean, you can win with him. I'm not writing him off as a winner.
Matt Jones
I agree, but we need to be cool again. He's going to be that price. He will join Debaza, AJ Debazza and Daxel is the most expensive players in college. Now, there might be some kid in the portal this year that joins that amount.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
We'll see if you got the money. You got to do it. You got to do it.
Matt Jones
You got to go get him. You got to do it. You Do Brent. Go ahead, Brent.
Caller or Guest
Hey, Matt.
Matt Jones
Yes.
Caller or Guest
I was seeing on Twitter yesterday about Aberdeen and him entering the portal. I. I hear that, where I was reading that he has to enter the portal in order to put in for that waiver, and there's a possibility that he come back. Any. Any truth to that?
Matt Jones
No, I don't think that's true. I don't. I don't think he would have to enter the portal to ask for a waiver, do you?
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
I think it's backward. If his waiver gets granted, he would need to have already been in the portal for teams to be talking to him.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I think that's right. So, yeah, so he would need to be in the portal to even get to talk to him.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
He doesn't want to get granted. A month from now and he's not in the portal.
Matt Jones
In theory, I guess he could come back, but I have not heard that that would happen, although I would welcome it. But I. But that's in theory, though. I think for him to even be able to play college basketball next year, he had to. He had to do the waiver, and in the portal, he had to do both.
Caller or Guest
Gotcha. Gotcha.
Matt Jones
So appreciate that. Let's go to Bobby. Go ahead, Bobby.
Caller or Guest
Good morning, gentlemen.
Matt Jones
Good morning.
Caller or Guest
A little off top, a little off topic here, but you guys, high school football coverage is awesome. Huge fan. A good friend of mine, before all the conference tournaments started, passed away. He was the first running back to score a touchdown for Perry County Central High School. His name was Ricky Beatty Jr. And he was a mountain legend. Thanks for the call. I appreciate it, guys.
Matt Jones
Well, thank you. God Bless Ricky Beatty Jr. And if we're going to talk about high school football legends, we also shouldn't. Should note Ryan Lemon, that Larry friend. Appreciate the call. Thanks for letting me know.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
I. I'm going to help you there.
Matt Jones
I know who it was. Larry French passed away. Give his resume. Last coach Middlesbrough.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Yeah, we went down there with Max and Max to his team when Larry French was a coach down there. But he kind of made a name for himself in south central Kentucky. Won a couple state titles. He was at Boyle County. Just a great guy to work with. I mean, the sad thing is he just retired. Like, he retired after this past season, and now he passes away a couple months later, so rest in peace.
Matt Jones
What all schools did he coach?
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Lincoln County, I think, maybe, but definitely Boyle county for a couple years. Won the state title. Middlesbrough. I forget where he went after Middlesbrough. He went somewhere after that.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Well, God bless his family.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And the the Johnson Central Beatty player that they just said.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
New story said he went it was at Mercer County, Meade County, Lincoln and Southwestern also in addition to the schools you already named.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
That's awesome. Great man. He was a titan in the field for sure.
Matt Jones

Welcome back, Tucky Sports Radio, KSR bowling.com get in the league. Gotta sign up by 13 days through April 22 and then April 29 the league starts and you go boom.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Like that. Your sound effects have been great today.
Matt Jones
I'm really good. Did you, did you enjoy doing the it's the News podcast?
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
I did. We, you know, it started very serious with some news going on in the world, but it ended with a lot of laughter.
Matt Jones
Yeah, it's very few, very few shows where you can start by breaking down the war in Iran, but then end up with some of the things Drew said at the end of the podcast. I'll just let him want to spoil the. But not a lot. Not a lot of shows you'll see that can make that run, that can kind of hit all of those notes in one thing. So it's me, Drew and Billy. It's on the Interrupted by Matt Jones feed. It'll also air tonight on whs. Highly recommend. You know, sometimes you walk out of these and go, okay, that was all right. This was when he walked out and I was like, that's really good. And I. I enjoyed it. Even. We even have Mario's attention.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Nice.
Matt Jones
When we do that. When I do Interrupted, if Mario pays attention, then I know it's pretty good because Mario kind of glazes over serious topics. And he was into this one.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
I take a lot of pride in making you and the guys laugh. And Billy hitting the bell yesterday.
Matt Jones
Hit the bell twice. He got two bells, two bills.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
I've never had that happen before. I feel like I won some kind of prize.
Matt Jones
Memphis has announced they are going to put a FedEx jersey patch or FedEx patch on their football and basketball jersey. They become like the third college to agree to do that. I looked at their. Their patch. It's pretty prominent. Which of course leads the question of what are you going to do? Inevitably when Kentucky sells a patch on their jersey, and it would not just be a patch on their jersey. It would probably be the case that every time you bought a UK shirt, it would say, you know, whatever on it.
Chelsea Handler
Coal.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
It was like, if it was licensed up, licensed, UK apparel would have to have that happen.
Matt Jones
Have to. I'm just saying, though, I. You. I could see a world where that happened. It'll probably start with it being on the jersey. So what are you going to do? Are you going to be upset if the first time we come out in a football or basketball jersey it says Clark's moment job or Morgan and Morgan? That'd be. By the way, that would be my leader in the clubhouse, I think. Morgan and Morgan. If we were. If you were to sit there and go, what are the betting odds on the first patch that ends up on a jersey? You know, that's a good question. What. What businesses do you think are lead? I'm going to go, what are the three most likely businesses? Morgan and Morgan, Friends of Coal. Those are your first two. What would the third be?
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
A lot of their partners are local. I don't know if a low. I think you need a national brand.
Matt Jones
Cost a lot of money to do that, but both of those would have a lot of money.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
So I'm thinking big, big central bank does a lot.
Matt Jones
Do you think that's central banks enough?
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
I don't know. They do an awful lot of advertising.
Matt Jones
Yeah, it's a national. Like FedEx would want to be on Memphis because FedEx is a worldwide brand.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Man. Morgan. Morgan's a great pick.
Matt Jones
I don't think UPS could do it because it's in Louisville and U of L fans would get mad.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
UPS will do it for Louisville.
Matt Jones
Possibly.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Yeah.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Public Storage.
Matt Jones
I think Louisville would be.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Or Planet Fitness. They love some Planet Fitness over there.
Matt Jones
Well, yeah, the guy that started playing fitness is the.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
The cartoon drawing of us and ksr.
Matt Jones
Yeah, we don't have that money.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
I think once we get the public storage lady Storage, we just got to recruit.
Matt Jones
Just say storage. Yeah.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Public Storage, Kentucky Public.
Matt Jones
I think the two leaders in the clubhouse are friends of Cole and. And. And Morgan. And Morgan. I think if you had to make a bet, you'd bet on Morgan and Morgan. I mean, they're everywhere. You know, when people.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
I've been pushing back a little when people say, but the name on the front of the jersey I've been saying lately is about to have a patch next to it as a company. Remember that when we're talking about the sacred cloth.
Matt Jones
I don't think it'll be this year, but it's coming.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
It's definitely coming.
Matt Jones
It's definitely coming. Kevin, go ahead. Kevin.
M
It.
Caller or Guest
Yeah. I just wanted to make a couple comments here. What do you think? These, I guess, you know, when they evaluate a player's worth, do you think they take into account the jump that they're going to make? Because of course, we all agree that,
Matt Jones
yes, I think these. We talked about the system that's. That football and women's volleyball are using. Basketball may or may not be using it, but any system worth its weight is factoring in likelihood to be better. I'm sure that's true.
Caller or Guest
Okay. All right, that's good to know. Secondly, I'm in the camp of we should have retained Colin Chandler. I think he would have made a jump. And then, you know, obviously coming back, he knows what it. He knows what it feels like to play for Kentucky. And then you got to ask yourself, what if he. What if we don't get somebody equivalent in the Portal. I mean we may be going after studs but, but there's a lot of
Matt Jones
be okay with a. We would have had to pay him an amount of money where he would have needed to be our second best player on the team. Would you be okay building a team where Colin Chandler is your second best player on the team?
Caller or Guest
I think he has the ability to be the second best player. So if that's the case then yes, but okay, I may be in the minority.
Matt Jones
No, no, I, I, but yeah, I appreciate the call but that's what you have to ask yourself. Kentucky, I think was appreciate the call. They were willing to pay him to be the third or fourth best player on the team. He wanted money that would be to be the second best player on the team. That's kind of the way I envision it. Kentucky wanted to give me maybe even fourth best player money. He wanted second best player. So the question you have to ask yourself is do I think Colin Chandler could be the second best player on a final 14? Because we're trying to build final four squads. Right. And you just have to decide for yourself what the answer to that question is. John, Go ahead John.
Caller or Guest
Yeah, I have three questions. If you had to guess how much money is our NRL budget?
Matt Jones
Well, I mean that's hard to say because of the way the money's. I would say we probably will have a top seven budget in the country. As for what the raw dollars are, I think, I'm not sure but I would say if you're ranking programs Will, last year we were probably in the top three. This year we're probably going to be top six to seven.
Caller or Guest
Okay, so like, like 18 to 20 mil in that range or again, I
Matt Jones
think a lot of these numbers are fake but if, if you want to use the fake numbers then yeah, something like that.
Caller or Guest
Okay. So the team next year it looks like it's going to be Cam Williams, Malachi Moreno, Trent Noah and that center from San Diego State. Like is Gooner or something.
Matt Jones
I don't think, Yeah, I don't think we have. Oh you mean how much have we spent so far? Again, raw numbers are hard. I appreciate the call, I would say of Kentucky's potential budget that they have, we've probably spent 30% of it. 25 maybe. There's a lot of money still out there to go get guys, but now they got to get them. You have all the money in the world. People don't take it and this is the time. I mean, yeah, so I think we've probably spent 30% of the money. I think Malachi took a discount. Malachi's making much more than he made last year. But I think he took a discount as to what he could have got.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
I believe that's true.
Matt Jones
I think Cam's probably being paid very similar to what he got last year, which I think he was a steal last year. So I actually think they've. They've. If you're looking at have they been efficient? I think the answer is so far, yes. Now let's see what happens with the rest of it. Roger, go ahead. Roger.
Caller or Guest
Yeah, thanks for taking my call. I was curious are they going after that the center for Georgia that Sorrell and whoever they get next year, do they have the coaches to improve those players?
Matt Jones
Well, that second question I'm not sure. I appreciate the call. I would hope so. I don't think they're going after Somto. It sounds like he's like it's what Arkansas and Miami. Yeah.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Jay Lucas might be swooping in and taking him from Arkansas.
Matt Jones
I hope he does because he was
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
a do not contact.
Matt Jones
Looked like he was a do not contact. So like he looked like he was. He already knew. Everybody assumed he was going to go to Arkansas. But now there's some chatter that Jay Lucas may have gotten him at Miami.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
So he played well against us this year. That's for sure. Like he played best games against us.
Matt Jones
You think he's a cow kind of player? Trying to. Cal didn't have a lot of just big massive.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
No he didn't.
Matt Jones
I don't know. Nerlens by the way was the number one overall recruit.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew)
Was he?
Matt Jones
So that's another one. So we had Walt Davis, Nerlen's scout. So in a course of seven years we had four. The overall number one four times and Carl was number two. So we had one of the top two players five of those years and then the other year we didn't have a number one but like Randall and the Twins were both in the top eight or seven.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
Well cows last recruiting class that the fans hurt had three of the top five of their positions. That three top five players with Edwards was number one wing Bradshaw was the number one center, DJ number one guard and then you had Robin Reed.
Matt Jones
Yeah, we forget that the three highest ranked players in that class all kind of were disappointed.
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
But remember fans hurt the recruiting there number one class. Number one class with three of the top five players.
Matt Jones
Probably Cal second best overall class was
Matt Jones' Co-host (possibly Drew or Billy)
that year just didn't pan out.
