Gotta rock. My UK gear. Yeah, I'm doing great. Last night was one of those nights where I didn't sleep, though. Rough, rough baby night. So what makes it rough?

I couldn't sleep on my own. I already knew I was in trouble. As well as nights you, like, TV's off and it's 2am I'm just looking at the ceiling. So I knew I was in trouble. And right as I started to drift off to round three, baby needed to get.

[Ryan Lemond]

What do you do? Like, when the bait.

[Matt Jones]

Like when the baby cries.

[Ryan Lemond]

What are you going to do?

[Shannon]

Stop crying, baby.

[Matt Jones]

You just try to rationalize.

[Shannon]

That's kind of. That's kind of how I talk.

But, like, you don't. When the baby starts crying, just adding, why don't. Just.

Why. Why not just let it cry?

[Shannon]

I mean, I would, but it's next

to the bed in a basket.

[Matt Jones]

I mean, I just. Again, it's a real question. I'm not like, why do people.

Parents.

Do parents think they can fix it?

[Shannon]

Well, my strategy is usually let her cry it out a little bit, but if it goes on too long, especially when I'm trying to sleep, something's up. Usually a wet diaper or hungry. Okay, so you got to get up. Check. Check the britches.

[Matt Jones]

Could you go and, like, check to

[Ryan Lemond]

make sure there's not a wet diaper? Yeah. Make sure it's got, like, all its nutrients, breathing and all that and all that. And then just leave it alone. Yeah.

[Shannon]

And then I went back to bed.

[Matt Jones]

But this point, it's like, why are you laughing?

[Matt Jones Intro]

What a responsible parent you would be.

[Matt Jones]

But what is Drew supposed to do? Drew can't give it milk that I know of.

Comfort the baby, like, pick it up, bounce it.

Actual thing you think, like, putting your

arms around it will make it stop crying.

It is a she. We've been. We've been trying to call her a she.

I will say I need to start calling. I'm sorry. I mean, I mean, not to get

a little sentimental here, but, baby, there are times. Only Dad's arms are when baby will.

So you can see a difference when you.

Oh, and there are times where I know where.

When I'm holding Her.

And I'm the only one that get her stop crying. It's like, well, the next two hours of my life are just sitting here.

So are you saying there are times

you can get her to cry or stop crying that Abby can.

[Shannon]

Yes, yes. But then, of course, Abby can do, due to our anatomy, things that I can't do.

[Matt Jones]

Like when it comes to holding it.

You're better at it.

[Shannon]

No, no, no. It varies, but there are times where she's like, all right, you got to lock in, cuz, you know, you got the. Remember passing Lil Wayne? I've added some young Jeezy recently, but there were moments where baby needs dad's arms, which is. That's my favorite part of all.

[Matt Jones]

Are there moments where you can tell this is a. A dad arm, not a mom arm?

[Shannon]

Oh, yeah. She'll be squealing in mom's arms, and she'll be. You'll try. And then just immediately silence asleep. And at that point, you just have to sit down.

And these are good lessons for me to learn. Yeah. I may never, never have to worry about.

If you saw Ryan crying, you would just sit there and let him cry. You'd go up. You'd probably.

I would let him go. I would do what I did in Wrestlers, which is go have a good day and then go hit golf. Hit the golf ball.

It has addressed the two issues that were.

Have been on my mind this week, or at least, you know, number one, what can Pope, et cetera do to sort of turn things around?

And then number two, some of the

things we've talked about. About, like how KSR slash me gets blamed for everything. Right.

[Matt Jones]

So Pope did this video yesterday.

[Ryan Lemond]

Yes, he did, by the way. I thought it was a slam dunk. I really did. Every.

[Matt Jones]

A lot of people were mocking him

[Ryan Lemond]

for asking to put up the questions. I didn't mind it as much as everybody else did, but a lot of

[Matt Jones]

people were mocking it and saying it

[Ryan Lemond]

was a terrible idea.

[Matt Jones]

If you remember, yesterday on the show, I was like, hold out, let's see what they do. And I actually thought the first thing

[Ryan Lemond]

they've done was great. And I want to go over some of the stuff he said in the video because not only did I think it was great that he addressed and answered the questions, I actually thought some of the stuff he said was substantively interesting. Right. But this is what the person said.

The person said, Matt, I think part of the issue that UK and the

[Ryan Lemond]

fans deal with is the disappearance of traditional media. Think about it.

[Matt Jones]

For most UK fans of our age or younger UK fans, between the local

[Ryan Lemond]

newspaper, the local TV stations, the Herald,

[Matt Jones]

the Courier, Sports Illustrated, Sporting News and Cat's Balls, we felt like we got UK information all the time. UK was that these entities were putting

[Ryan Lemond]

out publications that parsed out quotes and

[Matt Jones]

stats, game recaps, game previews, analysis. If you wanted UK information, you could

[Ryan Lemond]

get it whenever you wanted.

[Matt Jones]

Now almost all of those outlets have

[Ryan Lemond]

disappeared or they are significantly less important.

[Matt Jones]

Thus we actually get less information unless

[Ryan Lemond]

we seek it on Twitter, etc. The one exception is while the Herald, the Courier, the TV stations, the Cat's Paws, Sporting News, Sports Illustrated are all

[Matt Jones]

significantly less important than they should be, you all to most fans, feel like you're everywhere.

[Ryan Lemond]

You're on the radio, you have the website, you all have the biggest social media followings.

[Matt Jones]

And so you all become where the information is.

[Ryan Lemond]

And when things aren't like they like it, they get mad at you.

[Matt Jones]

UK has to realize that with significantly fewer outlets for information, they have to produce more information and they also have

[Ryan Lemond]

to work with the very few people left. If they don't, you get a void where it is just social media accounts blabbering and at that point you can't control the message and it's easier for fans to get upset. I think that's really good.

[Drew Franklin]

That's really good.

[Ryan Lemond]

Do you agree with that?

[Shannon]

I completely agree because that's true.

[Matt Jones]

So think about all those outlets used to be if it was in the Herald or the Courier. Ryan, everyone in the city and everyone in the state talked about it.

[Ryan Lemond]

Absolutely.

[Matt Jones]

If John Clay or Jerry Tipton or Rick Bozich, one of them wrote an article. It was on everyone's.

[Ryan Lemond]

Everyone Talk.

[Drew Franklin]

Everybody saw it.

[Matt Jones]

The local TV stations. I mean, I'll say this, Drew, you would agree. There was a time where everyone in the city knew who Alan Cutler, Rob Bromley, Ryan Lemon, who they were.

[Shannon]

That's why everybody got so excited. Hearing Rob just say one sentence grew

[Matt Jones]

up and he was on our TV screens every night. Local news just doesn't have that impact anymore. I don't even know who the sports

[Ryan Lemond]

anchors are on most of these stations.

[Matt Jones]

But there was a time I knew every single person on television. There was a time when I first started where literally Allen Cutler and Ryan Linman would get stopped everywhere. Now no one stops you.

[Ryan Lemond]

No, that's not true. I'm just kidding. But you know what I mean.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah.

[Matt Jones]

The cat's paws. There was a time you get that

[Ryan Lemond]

delivered to you couldn't wait to get it delivered.

[Matt Jones]

You could wait to. You could read it. You could go into the barber shop

[Ryan Lemond]

and there was always one there.

[Drew Franklin]

Yep. Doctor's office.

[Matt Jones]

Well, now it's gone.

[Ryan Lemond]

Now all those things are basically gone.

[Matt Jones]

On the web, when I started, there were 30 websites and slowly they've withered down and to some extent we're the last one left and, you know, through

some of our success. But then the corporate people buying it,

they've kind of bought up the competition. Right.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah.

[Matt Jones]

On social media, if you fought, what are the biggest Shannon Social media UK accounts?

[Matt Jones Intro]

Well, probably at KY Sports Radio.

[Ryan Lemond]

Me. Yeah, probably. Then Drew, Kyle Tucker has a big one.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah.

[Matt Jones]

Tyler, Jack, Nick, it's all KSR related. It's probably all ksr. So I can kind of see how people would get sick of you.

[Drew Franklin]

But where else you're going to get the info?

[Matt Jones]

Exactly.

[Ryan Lemond]

Where are you going to get it?

[Matt Jones]

So in that mode, it becomes more important for, in my opinion, for UK

[Ryan Lemond]

to both work with these entities that are left, but also to produce its own content.

[Matt Jones]

But it has to be content.

[Ryan Lemond]

That is what people actually want. It can't just be. So how was your day, Mark?

[Matt Jones]

Well, that was actually a good start yesterday.

Right.

[Matt Jones]

Because that's a situation where he answered questions, but he actually, I thought, answered real questions.

[Drew Franklin]

He did.

[Matt Jones]

I gained a lot of respect for the whole process. When the question popped up that said 14 of your 20 recruits have come on campus and none of them committed why he took it on and he took that. Just putting that question on the screen, I would argue. Take some cojones.

Yeah, he's not running from it. Even if you didn't like his answer, he. That that was out there, and it addressed.

[Matt Jones]

But I'd always been told there's this kind of second pot of money that was for Stokes because there were particular people who were willing to give the money for Stokes because of things that they thought he could do, endorsement wise, et cetera, that maybe they would give to somebody else. But they're not just going to give and say give it to anybody. So I think they'd have to go and say this person. So it would need to be somebody that people felt like was worth that money.
