One of the biggest misconceptions about buying a home right now is that you have to wait for the perfect moment. Perfect rates, perfect timing, perfect market. The truth is, that moment doesn't really exist. A lot of buyers pause because of headlines or assumptions. But every situation is different. Race change, markets shift, and personal goals matter just as much as what's happening nationally. That's why talking with a local lender can be so valuable. When you contact Stockton Mortgage, you get paired up with a local lender. That lender will give you your options. That lender will explain the situation. You can ask your own questions. That's what it's all about. Getting to the closing table. As simple and as easy as possible, our friends at Stockton Mortgage focus on helping people understand their options. Whether you're ready to buy now, later or just starting to ask questions, there's no pressure to make a decision, just a chance to get real information and a clearer picture of what's possible. Sometimes the smartest move isn't waiting, it's getting informed. Visit stockton.com today to learn more about your options. NMLS8259 equality lender NL nmlsconsumeraccess.org Welcome back.

Everybody I hope at home will join me. I know you guys will in welcoming visit us with this Ryan Lemon rejoining us here today after, after a long surgery that's been going on. Ryan, how are you doing?
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
Hello. Nick Roush. Good to see you guys again. Been a rough couple weeks, man.
Matt Jones
I mean, crouch, you know, I didn't
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
know how to greet you guys, you know. Hello, Nick Roush.
Ryan Lemond
Hello. Right.
Shannon
Are you doing the Vince Marrow tweet? Is that what that is?
Matt Jones
Okay, okay. He's been here 15 seconds. I already don't understand what he's talking about. Yes. How you doing?
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
It's just been a slow recovery, man. You know, I was in the hospital for 11 days and I went in there for like four days for the prostate cancer surgery. Actually dismissed me.
Matt Jones
That's the first time you've said that. I mean, are you.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
Oh, I guess it is, isn't it?
Matt Jones
Yeah. I mean, do you. Well, what's that? I mean, you've now said it. So you know.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
So, yeah, I guess I went in for prostate cancer surgery. By the way, my surgeon says tell you hello. You know him?
Matt Jones
Okay.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
He's the guy you yelled at in McDonald's drive thru a couple months ago.
Ryan Lemond
It's all coming full circle now.
Matt Jones
Wait a minute. I yelled at your, your prostate surgeon?
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
Yeah, I think he was on his phone during the zipper merge.
Shannon
Oh, we remember that.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
You honked your horn, said get off your phone.
Matt Jones
Hopefully I didn't. Hopefully he didn't take that out on you.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
No, I, I, I. I kicked prostate cancer in the ass.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
I mean, I, He. He got me out. I was actually dismissed from the hospital. Went home. I was home for two days, and Jennifer had to drive me back because, man, I just was, like, in massive amounts of pain. So then I stayed for another seven days when he diagnosed me with Ogilvy syndrome.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
Never heard of it.
Matt Jones
I'd never heard of that either.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
Most people in the hospitals never heard of it. It's like if your colon just stops working, just kind of falls asleep after you have, like, abdominal surgery sometimes. And that's what happened. So once he finally. Same surgeon, you know. You remember him from the McDonald's incident?
Matt Jones
I do. I do remember him.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
Yeah. Yeah. Once he came up with the ogle. I don't know who ogle is. I'm gonna kick his ass too.
Ryan Lemond
Aj. Aj Play for Vandy.
Matt Jones
It was AJ Ogle. That's unfortunate.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
It was. It was awful.
Matt Jones
So, okay, so. But this is the first time you've. You've said that. Are you. I mean, that's a pretty. There's been a very serious diagnosis with the prostate cancer. And, and so how. How are.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
How are things now as far as that end goes? I think pretty good. They feel pretty good, like they got it all. One doctor told me there's, like, two kinds of prostate cancer. There's, like, Bronny James and LeBron James. Bronny James, which most. Most men have. One in eight men, by the way, have prostate cancer. We all know somebody's going through it or has had it. Most have Bronny James. Prostate cancer just kind of sits there, can be dangerous. You got to keep an eye on it.
Matt Jones
Did you name it? This? No.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
One of my doctors did.
Matt Jones
One of your doctors named it Bronnie James. I don't know if. I don't know if Bronnie James wants to have.
Ryan Lemond
Mario does not like this analogy.
Matt Jones
And then what's the other one?
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
LeBron James.
Matt Jones
Oh, that's one of the greatest of all time.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
But it's very aggressive. You got. You get that one. It comes in the game, and you better look out.
Ryan Lemond
Don't dunk on.
Matt Jones
You don't have that one.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
That's one I had.
Matt Jones
Oh, so you had the more aggressive one.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
That's why we had to have the surgery to get it out.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
You know, most Prostate.
Shannon
You retired LeBron?
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
I retired LeBron. Most prostate cancer you can treat with, like, radiation you know, the advances I got now medication. Once you get the LeBron James prostate cancer, you got to get it out.
Matt Jones
So it was very serious.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
So get it out before it spreads your bones, and then it could be really serious. Yeah. Yeah.
Matt Jones
Well, you know, you went through a lot. You were in the hospital in total 11 days.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
Yeah, 11 days. Four days the first time, then seven days the second time. I got out a week ago today. I mean, I still feel like I don't have my strength back yet. I'm still kind of weak, you know? I appreciate you guys all checking on me. Every one of you guys checked on me.
Matt Jones
Now, a lot of people out there, you know, we. We didn't say what you were dealing with, but a lot of people out there have reached out, and I'd kind of said to them, you know, that. That you wanted to kind of deal with it privately. Are you kind of. Do you feel like you're. You're back out in. In public life?
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
This is just my. I think my second time out of the house. I went to the doctor a couple days ago. I wanted to come do this, but, I mean, I'm. I mean, I'm still wearing a catheter. I mean, I'm still kind of on the disabled list and walk around with a pee bag strapped to my leg. I can show you if you want
Matt Jones
me to show it to you, that's okay.
Ryan Lemond
At least. At least wait till the break.
Shannon
It's not holding anything back today.
Matt Jones
I was gonna say. You did say to me that you. You did say to me not that long ago that you're like. I don't want to really go into a lot of details, but now, like, apparently, that's changed.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
Listen, I have gone through things. Poor Jennifer. Jennifer has seen things, witnessed things, smelled things, and had to do things. I mean, she went way above the girlfriend pay grade. There's no doubt about it.
Shannon
She's been good about updating us, too. She's been good to go.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
And I. I went through some things that I'm just so obviously disgusting, I can't even talk about it.
Matt Jones
We don't have to. I mean, we don't have to go into those things, but once you go
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
through some of that, you're like, oh, what the heck? You know? Doesn't matter you talk about it or not. I mean.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, I will.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
Let me say this. I'll be serious for one minute. The prostate exam is one of the most uncomfortable things we do as humans. We all know what it is. It's awful. It's uncomfortable. It makes you feel bad. But yet that 5 second exam maybe has saved my life, you know, found out, hey, there's something going on in there. They caught it early enough, you know, like two years ago. They found it, kept an eye on, it was Bronny James, then it went to LeBron James. They said, we got to get it out of there. So I know you don't want. Nobody wants to do that, but it really can help you save your life, you know, if you catch it early enough.
Matt Jones
Yeah, for sure. So what is that? I think people sort of wonder, like, what's your, what's the prognosis kind of going forward?
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
Well, like I said, they think they got it all. You know, I'll be, you know, they still monitor it, take your blood test, get your PSA levels and make sure everything stays low, as it should be, and just kind of slowly recover. I mean, I was going to play 18 holes today, but I don't know if I can.
Matt Jones
You're not going to sit at 18 all day in the sun.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
This. Tell you what, I'm gonna. After this being on your radio show, I'm gonna go home and take a nap. I mean, it's kind of worn me out already.
Shannon
So back to your regular routine.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
Back my regular routine. I've watched a lot of TV. I've seen probably 100 episodes of Cheers, 50 episodes of Fraser. Yeah, you watch a lot of Fraser.
Matt Jones
Have you thought about doing something from the last 30 years?
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
No. When I was in the hospital, I watched a lot of Family Feud. You know, that's Steve Harvey. He's one crazy cat, man.
Matt Jones
He is. He's always full of, always full of stuff. You as you know, I mean, literally thousands of people have reached out. Do you, do you have a message for, for those folks?
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
I mean, I. It's very touching. It's very humbling. I know. Like, ladies of KSR sent me a bunch of good get well cards to the restaurant. You know, everybody reaching out to you guys and check in Jennifer and check in. So it's very humbling. Very. It touches you. You know, people care that much about you and they don't even know you really. You know, they just hear you talking on the radio. So it's tough. And hopefully it'll maybe help other people down the road when they have prostate issues like this, you know, you, you
Matt Jones
are, I think it's fair to say, like an emotional person. Has this been kind of an emotional journey for you?
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
It has. It really messed with my brain, man. All that I Was in pain. So much pain for like three or four.
Matt Jones
You were in a lot of pain. I mean, I, You've been. I mean, I talked to you some through that and talked to Jennifer. You were in a whole, whole lot of pain for a long period of
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
time until they diagnosed with this A.J. ogilvy syndrome. I was like in pain like every eight. The tax would happen like about every eight hours. And they were just so excruciating. I mean, I've got some awful stories about.
Matt Jones
That's okay.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
I mean, like one happened when I was in the shower.
Matt Jones
Okay. Yeah. I mean, it's okay. Like we broad.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
Yeah. Others happened.
Matt Jones
Other times I probably couldn't just again like this. I mean, I'm giving you a lot of grace, but we don't need to go in. But, but I know it was difficult for you, but then I would tell you, I mean, I, I had a group text with like all the people you've worked with over the years in sports. I mean, people ranging from Alan Cutler to Mary Jo to Tom Leach, Jeff Pocoro, Rob Bromley, Terry Miners, Tony Veneti. Probably there was like 20 people on the group text and they would write me consistently and ask how you were doing and they wanted updates. And I, I hope you know how many people, Jeff Drummond, I mean, people from your era care about you and wanted to see. I mean, just since you've been in here, look at all these people who've come in wanting to hear, hear what
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
you have to say, man, it's. It's touching. I mean, it really is because it was, it was tough. I had a rough couple weeks and I know everybody cares, all my friends and you guys, and reaching out, it really makes. Makes it different, makes you kind of see life a little differently.
Matt Jones
So people have asked when you thought you might want to come back and be back. Obviously, you know, you can do it whenever you. What do you think's going to be your. Your time frame?
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
You know. You know, I haven't really talked about it yet, but maybe I can just kind of do stuff like this. Kind of tiptoe in till I get my catheter out where I can actually get out and wear some shorts. I have to wear long pants. Hiding my PE bag on my leg everywhere I go.
Shannon
I don't mean to laugh, but he's just not hiding any details.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
I'll show it to you. Let me show it to you.
Ryan Lemond
We're good.
Matt Jones
You, you know, I mean, you can do the show without having to use your language. Your PE bag out like, you don't. I mean, those are. Those are. Those are mutually exclusive things, whether you do the show and whether or not peabags are involved. They don't have to be at the same time.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
That's true.
Shannon
I'm laughing so hard.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
I think I want to say one more thing.
Matt Jones
I can't tell if he's about to laugh or cry.
Ryan Lemond
I don't know. It's really.
Matt Jones
All right, go ahead.
Shannon
He hadn't lost his personality.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
You guys handled the KS park closing announcement Wednesday very well. It's kind of sad for all of us. It's kind of tough.
Matt Jones
It is tough.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
But I, you know, some of my great memories. I want to thank you, Matt. And you have me locked in KSR jail for like, seven days. I mean, that was so much fun. I mean, my ex wife really appreciated that at the time.
Shannon
Happened right out here on this green.
Matt Jones
It was the day of the golf scramble. That's right. That's exactly right.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
I mean, you had Cash Daniel throw me through a table not once but twice.
Matt Jones
Yes. Saw that video. Drew posted that.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
All those great memories. I've got a KS bar that seems to me you put me through some sort of torture.
Matt Jones
Yeah, that. That's. It's gonna be hard for me to put you through tortures much anymore. So I feel like we.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
I get my pee bag off. I'm like,
Matt Jones
yo, I feel like everybody gets the. One thing you can say is, this has not changed your. This has not changed your overall personality.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
A white wiggle on our first road trip. And I tell you this story that I can't even talk about right now. I'll tell you a story. One day.
Matt Jones
We may. We may. We may take a little time before we do. Before we do a road.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
But I appreciate you guys. You know, I love you guys so much. You're like my brothers. And like I said, Jennifer told me when you guys would check in, you all, you guys checked in with me. I mean, it means a lot to me and I appreciate it. So it was tough, man. It was a tough couple weeks, but on the slow road to recovery.
Matt Jones
Very thankful for Jennifer.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
She is a rock star. I mean, she literally went way above the girlfriend pay grade. What she's. I'm staying at her house right now, but she didn't have any stairs. She lives in a ranch, so she's been my. My caretaker.
Ryan Lemond
We love you, buddy. We're glad you're doing better. Good to see you, man. Good to see you.
Matt Jones
Love you and. And you look good. Keep it up and we will Be here whenever you're ready to.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
Lost a little weight during all this mess, but. But I had 20 pounds of FL fluid on my stomach at one time. 20 pounds?
Shannon
Oh, my goodness.
Matt Jones
Was that before or after the surgery? Maybe both.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
Love you, man. They love you guys, too, man.
Matt Jones
Ryan Lemon, Everybody's. Let me tell you what. Actually, I don't know if your doctor wants you to do this.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
Yeah.
Matt Jones
But summer's coming in hot, so cornbread hemp seltzers would be nice.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
I had a box of cornbread hemp seltzers on my in my stoops when I went to my house the other day.

And for Mental Health Awareness Month, we're dedicating a series to understanding the mind when it struggles. I'm joined by doctors, researchers, and those with lived experience. Many will talk with singer songwriter Jewel about anxiety.

Matt Jones
Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-280-2287. Couple open lines. Give us a shout. He. He just so people know, a little backstory. He had expressed to me that he did not want to share the fact that he had prostate cancer or the fact that he had the. The bag, all of those things. So we were trying to figure out how do we talk about this and not go into that. And he brought it up within four seconds. And I'm not sure even he did it intentionally.
Shannon
Shannon, I were talking about during the break, we don't. We don't think he showed up meaning to do that. But he just rolled with it.
Matt Jones
But he just rolled with it. And then next thing you know, because, I mean, he was dealing. Like he had said to me before the surgery, he was like, I'm going to have to have this. I'd rather people not know about it. And I said, well, I understand. And I said, I will do whatever you want. And then it took him seconds, Shannon, to. To completely throw that plan out the door.
Ryan Lemond
Like he forgot that he had a microphone in front of him and a large audience. That was voice.
Matt Jones
I mean, I think there are Very, very, very good friends of his that did not know that. I think he literally had told us and his girlfriend and his ch. Children, and that's it. And now they all. Everyone knows.
Shannon
Well, I've had several people in YouTube. Sure. That know Ryan very well, and I've had to be like, look, I just cannot tell you because he asked me not to. They're like, come on. I know Ryan. I'm like, I'm not. He's being so private about this.
Matt Jones
There are a lot of people was
Shannon
being private about this.
Matt Jones
It's interesting to me, Shannon. There'll be people who'll be like, well, he would want me to know.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And I want to go, well, if he wanted you to know, he would tell you.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. You don't have to be in the middle.
Matt Jones
You can't be the person that says to you, like, I don't. I'm not judging the who Ryan wanted to know thing. But now everybody knows, and. And I'm glad. That takes a lot of courage to. To let everybody know that. And I just want to say it was a very touchy situation for a little while. I mean, he. He came through the surgery pretty well, but then when he had the, I guess, Ogilvy syndrome, there were a few days not. Not this Monday, but the Monday and Tuesday before, where things were very harrowing for a little period of time. And, you know, he fought through it, and we're. And I'm really, really. You know, it's hard not to get emotional, because I was talking to them a lot during that time, and it was. There was 12 to 24 hours that were very scared. So I'm. It's. It's good that we're very blessed that he's here and. And that we're. This. Going through this.
Shannon
And in typical Ryan fashion, he was able to make us laugh and talk about a very serious matter. I mean, I felt bad laughing, but he just. The personality did not go anywhere.
Matt Jones
I mean, if you're gonna have somebody go through an issue where they need to have to use his language. A peabag who more than Ryan.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Like, the amount of jokes he wants to tell, it's good. It's gonna be hard because, like, my job on this show is to keep him from doing those things. But now it's almost like, well, he's kind of earned it.
Ryan Lemond
Right.
Matt Jones
So do I just have to just let him.
Ryan Lemond
You gotta let Ryan do Ryan things.
Matt Jones
You got to just let Ryan cook.
Morgan McGarvey
Yeah.
Matt Jones
All that stuff.
Ryan Lemond
You know, now that he's got that out there to everybody. I mean, I think, you know, he can use that and bring a lot of awareness to people who. You know, maybe the same thing.
Matt Jones
I mean, I hope so, actually. I think that's, you know, we all have a purpose sometimes beyond what we know. And I. I hope people look at that and say, you know, yeah, you know, he. I didn't know The Bronnie James LeBron. I don't know if that's a scientific analysis.
Ryan Lemond
Well, the one in eight thing, I was like, I didn't realize that he said one in eight people will deal with that.
Matt Jones
But it switched. I mean, he got diagnosed with this a couple of years ago. And then they told him, you know, we're going to monitor it. And then all of a sudden, they were like, we've got to do something about it now.
Shannon
And of all the doctors to take care of him. It's a guy you just recently yelled at first.
Matt Jones
I didn't yell at him. I honked. I think you yelled.
Shannon
You told us you yelled in the moment.
Matt Jones
I honked. It was like, hey.
Ryan Lemond
And he saved our guy's life.
Matt Jones
Yeah, well, I take. I take it.
Ryan Lemond
I mean, he can now see how you treat him.
Shannon
He can cut you off anytime,
Matt Jones
but he can cut me off next time. Yeah, he's. He's. It's. It's fine for him to do that. Who's next? Rick?
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
Jeff is next.
Matt Jones
Jeff. Go ahead, Jeff. Hey, guys.
Morgan McGarvey
I don't know how I'm going to follow Ryan Lemons and all that, but anyhow, we got a group of kids up here in Harrison county that just won a national archery championship. And the girls are six time defending state champions. KHSAA State championship champions. And yeah, somebody called out to them.
Matt Jones
We're really proud of them. Somebody called about that last week. Yes. Oh, okay.
Morgan McGarvey
Well, I'm the head coach. When Ryan gets rid of his extra wardrobe, y' all are.
Matt Jones
Y' all are to come up here
Morgan McGarvey
and do a show, and we'll have a. We'll have a little competition between you, uh, Ryan and Drew.
Matt Jones
All right. Well, I appreciate it. I haven't. Appreciate the call. I haven't done archery since Camp Rockmont in eighth grade, more than I've ever done. And I enjoyed it back when I did it. It was actually a lot of fun.
Shannon
Yeah, I was pretty good at the archery back when I was a little Cub Scout. Troop 200, if I'm not mistaken.
Ryan Lemond
Did you use that to shoot fish? Bow fish.
Matt Jones
I did, yes. I think that was. That was more luck. I will Acknowledge, though.
Ryan Lemond
Finally.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Ryan Lemond
It took you this long to acknowledge
Matt Jones
it, but I did get a fish in the air.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, well, when there's 100 fish in
Matt Jones
your face, nobody else got them. The pros didn't get it. This was a pros v. Joe's and Joe won.
Shannon
Robin Hood over here.
Matt Jones
Who's up next?
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
Zach is up next.
Matt Jones
Zach. Go ahead, Zach. Hey, Matt. How are you today? Doing good. So I'm down here in the 5th region shout out to the roof county for just winning. I believe they won the region. Hearing all that, there were some parents that were overly excited and on Facebook and some social media, they were posting like, different photos, angles of the shots of like home plate over some tough calls. And so I guess that led me to start thinking about all the stuff like we do in, like, professional sports with like baseball doing the strike zone and then reviews of basketball and then flags and football. When do you think we are going to have umpires and referees be completely
Ryan Lemond
obliterated as a for airfield?
Matt Jones
Ah, that's a great question. I. I think there'll be sometimes that they have to have them. Like, I still think in basketball it's a judgment call and with fouls and stuff. So I think that they'll always exist. I do wonder about baseball. I think baseball's probably the sport and I appreciate the call where, where you could get rid of them the easiest. The ABS Shannon, I actually think has ended up being cool.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
When they challenged, you know, the crowd all get. It's instantaneous, which I'm like, why don't they do that in other sports? Like it's instantaneous in baseball and it's kind of exciting when they do it. Oh, what's it going to show? And you know, so I. I don't see why you couldn't.
Ryan Lemond
I think eventually it'll go away from the challenge rule all together. The umpire will just have an earpiece and it'll say ball or strike. And the umpire will just do whatever he's told.
Matt Jones
Then why do you need an umpire?
Ryan Lemond
Well, you need something to sit there and say ball or strike. Unless you want to have something robot light up behind them. It says baller strike.
Shannon
Yeah, everything with ABS and baseball. Well, it's very cool in the moment, like you said, but you can go to espn.com and look up umpire stats now.
Matt Jones
They track the ABs kind of like that.
Shannon
Yeah, that's my favorite part.
Matt Jones
I like the strategy of when you're going to use it. I don't think I'm necessarily for doing it. On every pitch.
Ryan Lemond
I'm with it. Yeah, I'm with you.
Matt Jones
But I kind of like the strategy of. Okay, like they said, Tyler Stevenson on the Reds is one of the best in the league at doing it and deciding, yeah, I kind of like that. And then, like, I've noticed.
Shannon
Who is it?
Matt Jones
Suarez on the Reds. He gets too excited and he'll do it too often. And people like, hey, calm down. So I, I kind of like that, that, that, that sort of part of it that's come in. We're all saving for something, but what if you could save for something? We're going to talk more Milan Milosevic and some other stuff going into a big weekend of sports here at the KSR Golf Scramble. It's Kentucky Sports Radio. Welcome back Kentucky Sports Radio here live at the KSR Golf Scramble. All right, I want to give you guys some updates on some stuff we talked about. First of all, you know, I went to Montreal. The Canes are now at 3. 1. They can go to the state Stanley cup finals with a win tonight. They dominated in Game 4. They're at home tonight. They win, they move on. So let's just quickly do our Draft Kings. You go to DraftKings, bet $5, win $100 on DraftKings. And if you have a problem, 1 800- gambler, you can learn more@draftkings.com do the canes close them out tonight and make the finals against the Las Vegas Golden Knights?
Ryan Lemond
I know nothing about hockey, but I know the Canes are, are hot. And I'm gonna go with the Canes to, to get it done tonight. It's over.
Shannon
I think I already said that. They won the series the night you were there. They ripped their hearts out in that nice atmosphere up in Canada, and I think they finish it back home. Tonight and move on.
Ryan Lemond
It looked like a fun time, by the way. I mean, you were in there with, like, what, four other Canes fans?
Matt Jones
Literally the best time. I mean, you. I. I talked a lot about it on the show that next day, but one of the coolest atmospheres I've been in. And I realized, flying home yesterday, something that I didn't. I didn't know about myself. I now know I can name you every person on the Canes roster and what line they're in. I know all 20 players. Like, it's kind of embarrassing in some ways. Like, I, you know, I'll be like, don't say that about Jordan Martinook.
Shannon
You know, Never heard of that person before. Like, a young trip Tracy over there.
Matt Jones
That's exactly right. Listen. And they have a key brine. Both of my teams have a key.
Ryan Lemond
That's easy.
Shannon
There can't be more than two key brines in the world.
Matt Jones
We. The Reds have a key. Brian. And the Hurricanes have a key brine. How are there two key brines on my teams? But there are.
Ryan Lemond
Well, you just need one on Kentucky now.
Matt Jones
Key Brian. Milos Mil. I cannot. We cannot say Milosevic. He was a war criminal.
Shannon
We haven't said it.
Matt Jones
Yeah, it's Momcilovich, not Milosovich.
Shannon
I also like how with the Canes, you fan out over their announcer, like you're kind of in the same line of work, but he. You have, like, a man crush on him.
Matt Jones
Tracy is. Because they. They're now doing these videos, and he's like a little puppy, and every time the Hurricane score, he throws himself into the other guy and gets knocked across the screen. I love it. Now, a couple updates, though, that we talked about. It's first a sad one. You remember I told you, when I talked about the story, a man came out with his torch and everybody went crazy at the game. I was at Claude Lemieux. Three days later, he committed suicide.
Ryan Lemond
Oh.
Matt Jones
Oh, wow. He committed. He literally was the torch bearer. Monday night in Montreal, the crowd went insane, and it was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. They were chanting his name. Claude, Claude. Claude. Two nights later, found dead in his house on With Su. On suicide. Suicide.
Shannon
I didn't know that. That I saw. I watched the video of him walking in that night. It looked amazing. I didn't. I didn't know.
Matt Jones
I mean, if you just want proof that, like, you never know what people are going through. This man got a hero's ovation Wednesday night or Monday night. I remember thinking, how cool would it Feel to be that guy right now, walking out the. It gave me chills watching, and it wasn't even my team. And then two nights later, you just never know.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, you want. You watch that video, you would never. You would never think that guy would have any kind of, you know, intrusive thoughts or anything like that. But you just never know.
Matt Jones
Unbelievable. Now, remember I was talking about, oh, Canada got everybody mad when I said this. Here's something I learned about it. You know I told you they sang it in French.
Ryan Lemond
Yep.
Matt Jones
Right. So the O Canada is in England. There's an English version and a French version. But here's what I just learned that found fascinating. The French version is different words than the American version. Like, you can't translate them. They have two completely different set of lyrics, but they put them to the same song. So when you sing it in French, you're singing one thing, but when you sing it in English, you're singing something completely different. But they're both the national anthem to the same tune with but a different message. That's wild.
Shannon
You would just assume they would have put it.
Ryan Lemond
But no, as we stand on guard, they.
Matt Jones
They both finish with we stand on guard for the. Everything else in it is different.
Shannon
Do they contradict each other?
Matt Jones
Yeah, I think so. They're like, we stink.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
No.
Matt Jones
We're gray. No. I don't know. I. I don't know what the French. But that. Isn't that odd?
Ryan Lemond
Very strange. Yeah. Two completely different songs.
Matt Jones
Just two completely, completely different songs. Now, Wednesday night, I went to the Mets and the Reds in New York and when. And I think this is kind of cool when the Mets have a team, viz. Team from somewhere else, they have a food from that place. It's a special guest team place. So you can. So like, when they play Philly, they have cheese steaks, and so they do that. So for Cincinnati, I looked on my phone and the Cincinnati food item was a Skyline Chili egg roll.
Ryan Lemond
Nice.
Matt Jones
They took Skyline Chili and put it in an egg roll. Well, you may have seen, it went viral. The announcer ate it and he kind of almost got sick, but he didn't want to criticize it because Skyline Chili is one of their sponsors. So he's like going like he's trying to eat it. So I saw that in like the third or fourth inning. So I walked to where it was to to eat one, and it was horrible. It was like, absolutely. It was horrible.
Shannon
Sounds good to me.
Matt Jones
And I like Skyline Chili and I like egg rolls, but you cannot combine them. I've Learned there are some great tastes that do not need to be great. There was something about how greasy the egg roll is. You know, egg rolls have that like cat, cabbage or whatever in.
Ryan Lemond
Oh, they put the cabbage in there?
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
I wouldn't have done that. I was thinking it's just chili and cheese. Cheese would be good.
Matt Jones
It was really, really disgusting. And they should never do that again.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. Maybe come up with something else for Cincinnati. I mean, I know they're known for
Matt Jones
their chili, but so I ate like one bite. And even I. And I love Skyline chili. Was like. So I could understand why Jim Day did not enjoy if it was just
Shannon
rolled up chili and cheese and I could just it in the hot sauce. That sounds amazing.
Matt Jones
And I almost got hit with two fly balls.
Shannon
Do you have your glove?
Matt Jones
No. And I kind of ran away from one of them.
Ryan Lemond
You ran away?
Matt Jones
Well, I was on my phone and they were like, of course. And I look up and it hits like two seats from me.
Ryan Lemond
Almost hit your book. You would have lost your page.
Matt Jones
I almost got like hit in the head with it.
Shannon
That would be great.
Matt Jones
But I ended up.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
They.
Matt Jones
They bounced and somebody else got it. All right, who's next?
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
Morgan McGarvey is next.
Matt Jones
Morgan McGarvey, the. The congressman?
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
Think so.
Matt Jones
Well, how long's he been on hold? Why didn't you. What's going on, Morgan? Ricky, why didn't you tell me we had a congressman on hold? All right, go ahead. Morgan. How are you?
Morgan McGarvey
I'm good, man. How are you? First of all, I haven't been listen for a while because I was listening. I was driving around Louisville. I had to go in somewhere. I was like, I'm gonna call them about this, do things. I was about the college sports stuff. But also, I want you guys know you're talking about this coffee and. And your pictures being printed on this coffee. I went to a thing around St. Patrick's Day. They have the same technology for Guinness. So just consider that as you're drinking coffee.
Matt Jones
Wow, that's interesting. That's cool.
Morgan McGarvey
To print those pictures on the top of the Guinness. Yeah.
Matt Jones
So, Morgan, you've been involved. I know for people who don't know, Morgan's the congressman in Louisville. I know you've been involved at various points in the drafting of these college sports bills. Do you think this one that is coming through the Senate, is it going to pass in your mind?
Morgan McGarvey
I mean, look, you know, you hate to say it depends because, you know, that's what people hate to hear, but it does depend. Let's See, it's got to, I mean, it's been introduced now. It goes to a committee for markup, then it gets voted on in the Senate, then it comes to the House. We get our crack at it. So it's like, it's a long way from passing, but it's also, it's got all the right elements right now. Something that you're looking for, right? You've got bipartisan support. Apparently the president supports a fairly different, like that Cody Campbell guy, that guy in Texas Tech. He's one of the reasons the House didn't pass the SCORE act bill. I wasn't in favor of, but he got some Republicans to be against it. So it looks like they're the right kind of people lining up behind it. Now we got to get into the details of the bill and one of the problems I've had with this, Matt, you and I talked about this before. What in the world is the federal government doing getting involved in some of these things? I actually asked the NCAA when they were in front of my committee one time, are you so inept that you actually want the United States Congress to run your business? It's like, it's like, oh, well, silence is an answer, right? You know, so, so let me ask
Matt Jones
you, Morgan, I just have like, I just have like a minute or two. I'd love to have a longer conversation with you about this.
Morgan McGarvey
We'll come back.
Matt Jones
You're, you're also a Kentucky fan. So let me ask you about the thing that I, I, I worry about. If I look, if, if, if, if the, if the pooling of TV resources pulls the SEC, Big Ten ACC, Big Ten 12 money together, that might be good for college sports, but might actually be bad for the SEC and Kentucky. You're a Kentucky fan. Do you worry about that?
Morgan McGarvey
So I'll give you two points of view on this one. This has never been any version of a House bill. We've not looked into this at all.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Morgan McGarvey
It's going to be a real sticking point. Like when you ask about does this pass? There's some stuff that has in the Senate bill that's never been in front of al. So we're going to have to, to look at this. I'll also, you know, I was talking about this with somebody last week, just sports fans, right. Not like a policy conversation or anything. You know, if this thing goes and you continue to have a super league. I mean, I just asked this as a fan of, of Kentucky sports. Does Kentucky get included in that? Right. So some super league form. What's to say that South Carolina, Kentucky, Vandy and Mississippi State get cut out and all of a sudden usc, Ohio State, Michigan and Notre Dame get picked up. There's nothing in here that says Kentucky is going to be part of the SEC forever and ever, especially in this evolving landscape of college sports.
Matt Jones
Yeah, that's an interesting point. You do want to make sure that we don't get cut out of it. That's a really. That's a really good point. While we will, we will hold you to Morgan's. I can say this since I've known you for 20 years. If you get Kentucky gets cut out of the sec, I'm personally blaming you, just so you know.
Morgan McGarvey
I'm so glad I called in. Thank you.
Matt Jones
Matt Morgan, Nice to talk with you. We will. I would like to have a longer discussion with you about this, either on this show or on the podcast soon, okay?
Morgan McGarvey
Absolutely, guys. Have a good weekend.
Matt Jones
Appreciate it. That's a good way for Rick to humble a congressman. Comes on hold and he goes to Bob and James out first.
Ryan Lemond
That's right. Hey, you gotta wait in line.
Matt Jones
Hey, Congressman, we'll get to you.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
When we get to you, we do this in order. That's right.
Ryan Lemond
I would have done the same thing.
Matt Jones
Rick, did you know who he was when he called? Yeah, he just called a minute ago.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
So, I mean, he wasn't.
Matt Jones
Okay, all right, I got you.
Shannon
Rick said, you're in my world now.
Ryan Lemond
I'll put you on, but I want
Shannon
to put you on.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
Who's right up to the top of the line there? Yes.
Matt Jones
Rick was like, all right, let's go to Andy. All right, one more, Rick, before we take a break. Who's that? Okay, we got Eric up next. Eric, Go ahead, Eric.
Shannon
Yeah, I don't know how you want
Morgan McGarvey
me to follow a congressman.
Matt Jones
I just want to say that it's nice to know what's going on with Ryan because as you advise, you know, the sports teams to fill the void, to fill the gap, you know, rumors spread. You don't really know what's going on. We were everywhere from a brain surgery to a heart stent, you know, what could it have been?
Morgan McGarvey
But it's just nice to finally know.
Matt Jones
And it's nice to know that he's okay. Yeah, I'm glad he's, you know, I'd encouraged him to when he felt comfortable to say it. I just didn't think it was going to be today. But you know what? That's Ryan, you never know what's going to happen. Oh, yes. I figured that's what he probably. Yeah, just within four seconds.
Morgan McGarvey
You know, there's no point in skirting around it, but, yeah, that's all I wanted to say.
Matt Jones
Thank you, guys. Thank you. We'll do or take a break. 859-280-2287. We are here at the KSR Golf Scramble. They've served food. People are out there getting ready on the range, thanks to Shady Rays, Van Meter, 46 Solutions, Valvoline, Whiskey Thief, Dream Vacations, and Cut Water, among many others. We'll take a break and be right back to Kentucky Sports Radio.
Ryan Lemond
Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers.
Matt Jones
And guess what? We have some big news. What's the news? Huge news. We created our own podcast called hey Jonas.
Jonas Brothers (Podcast Promo Voice)
We invented a podcast.
Matt Jones
Well, we didn't invent it. We. We just contributed to First People to do Podcasts. Pretty. Yeah, Pretty wide range of podcasts, but this one's extra special. So how did we. How do we actually come up with the name hey Jonas? Guys, I honestly don't remember.
Ryan Lemond
I think it was on a call
Matt Jones
about what we should call it and, well, we were thinking. I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing a bit for the podcast where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, hey, Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
David Eagleman
But thanks for remembering that.
Matt Jones
Guys, listen to hey Jonas on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. On Humor Me with Robert Smigel and friends, we help make you funnier. On this episode. My guests Bob Odenkirk and Kids in The Hall's Bruce McCullough try and help the Kazoo kid and Tay Zon Day be famous again. What if there's an alternate universe show where you guys are incredibly popular?
Jonas Brothers (Podcast Promo Voice)
Well, and they could travel up the land doing meet and greets.
Matt Jones
They're constantly needed at mall. Listen to Humor Me with Robert Smigel and friends on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
David Eagleman
There are times when the mind becomes a difficult place to live. This is David Eagleman with the Inner Cosmos Podcast. And for Mental Health Awareness Month, we're dedicating a series to understanding the mind when it struggles. I'm joined by doctors, researchers, and those with Lived experience. We'll talk with singer songwriter Jewel about anxiety.
Matt Jones
I started living in my car and
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
then my car got stolen.
Matt Jones
I was shoplifting.
Morgan McGarvey
I was having panic attacks.
Matt Jones
I was agoraphobic.
David Eagleman
And making it through hardship to be
Matt Jones
present is a learned skill, and it's hard to be present.
David Eagleman
We'll talk with John Nelson about clinical depression and the brain implant that saved his life. What I learned is the procedure made
Matt Jones
me happy because I'm disease free.
David Eagleman
And we'll talk with leading experts like Jud Brewer about anxiety and John Hirschfeld about obsessive compulsive disorder and the science of how the brain can change. And this Mental Health Awareness Month, there's no better time to pour back into yourself. Listen to Cultivating her space on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Ryan Lemond
Welcome back.
Matt Jones
Final segment here to KSR Golf Scramble. Apparently the WLAP cut me off to go to the baseball game, right? As I said. Okay, Morgan, I've known you for 20 years, so I can say this. And then they went to commercial.
Ryan Lemond
Of course they did.
Matt Jones
So those people at West Lap do not know what. What I said.
Morgan McGarvey
I like that.
Ryan Lemond
They'll never know. They'll never know unless they go to podcast.
Matt Jones
Okay, you could go to the podcast. I've known you for 20 years, so I can say this. Welcome, everyone. It is UK Baseball. I like that. That's also, by the way, Car Bliss Serve Pro Affirm Roofing, UK Federal Credit Union. Good boy. Burnt Tavern, People's Exchange. Back bank golf, tainment events, Watson heating and air and neutral. Thank you for them for also sponsoring couple things here. Our boy Cash Daniel. I just saw this. You know, I'm not. I still am a part owner of ovw, but I don't kind of run it anymore. And I saw that on June 11, Cash Daniel is getting in the ring. That's exciting.
Morgan McGarvey
Y.
Matt Jones
But I saw he's wrestling jbl.
Morgan McGarvey
Oh, really?
Matt Jones
He's wrestling Bradshaw.
Morgan McGarvey
Wow.
Matt Jones
Cash Daniel versus jbl. And Dustin Jackson, another guy who's a Kentucky fan, is in it as well. But Cash Daniel and jbl, you know,
Shannon
Cash grew up watching him because I have a big name. That's awesome for Cash.
Matt Jones
Cash Daniel. For people who don't know, like, he's a former WWF champion, like Cash Daniel, that's got to be one of the more exciting things he'll get to do. Absolutely.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. JBL can still go in the ring too, a little bit. I mean, he can. He could hit hard.
Matt Jones
Yeah. JBL was. When he came to visit us once there, I had a long conversation with him because he wanted to discuss to me wrestlers, and he like, discussed in detail, and he discussed me like I was a television character.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
You know, he was like, I think you do a really good job when you did this, but, like, you got to be careful when you did this. And I was like, I just was living, man.
Shannon
Like, it's pretty authentic here.
Matt Jones
Yeah. I mean, I would like a. You know, I would. I would just.
Shannon
Just phone me around like a man.
Ryan Lemond
It is a cool thing, I'm sure, for Cash. I mean, like, guys that you grew up w. Even Al Snow, I mean, guys that you and I grew up watching.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
Then you're working with them. It's kind of crazy.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
It is cool.
Matt Jones
I have a question for you all because this also. This was something that happened in that Montreal game. There was a big goal that Montreal got back. Got. That got called back because of an offside. And I watched this happen. So they. So. So at first the fans are all booing, going, boo. Then they show the replay, and you can see that it was offsides. And what was interesting is the crowd as a whole, when they showed it just went, eh. It was offsides. Okay. Like, they just accepted it.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And they all. And then I heard one of the guys go, I wouldn't want to win on that. Didn't he? And I was thinking, do you. Would you feel like that about a Kentucky game? Like, let's say we won a game, but they took away a Basket. And let's say you thought the call was correct, but would you be like, I wouldn't want to win like that?
Ryan Lemond
No.
Shannon
I'd talk more trash to suck.
Ryan Lemond
Sometimes you get good breaks, sometimes you get bad breaks. You take the good ones and just go, all right, it was probably a bad call, but we won the game. So I don't care how.
Matt Jones
But they. A couple of them almost. It was like they were like, this would not be the honorable way to win.
Shannon
They go to bed at night with that on their conscience.
Matt Jones
I will not be able to sleep if they. If they give them this.
Shannon
Are they Russian or what? What are they?
Matt Jones
The accent flutter.
Ryan Lemond
I noticed.
Matt Jones
We.
Shannon
I think you took us around the world with those accents there. In just one conversation, you heard an Italian in there.
Matt Jones
You know, if it's not. If we don't score a go goal. That was not real. I don't know what.
Shannon
Of all places, though. I mean, they are the most polite
Matt Jones
people in the world. That was. It was. It was odd that they. But they just. They didn't want it if. If it was not.
Ryan Lemond
That's interesting. Me, I'll take the win any way I can.
Matt Jones
See. I would, too.
Shannon
Cheat to win.
Matt Jones
Cheat to win. That's exactly right. Who's up next?
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
Bren is up next.
Matt Jones
Bren, Go ahead, Br.
Morgan McGarvey
Hey, man, I've got a really unpopular take probably that you're going to keep planned me for, but I think if, if, if. If Kentucky got Milan, I think that would be one of the worst things for Kentucky basketball. And here's why that Pope would take him and we would make it to the sweet 16, and then Pope would get another year of. Just another year of just doing mediocre coaching. And I think the best thing is that we don't get Milan. We go into the season, we. It's not very successful and we can go ahead and get a real coach and then have a great future.
Matt Jones
Well, I'm always going to disagree. Appreciate the call. I mean, I'm always going to disagree with that position. People have made it over the years. I mean, there's people who said that about Cal. There's people who said that about Stoops. There's people. I'm just never going to root for the team to not have success.
Ryan Lemond (Guest)
I.
Matt Jones
You could make the argument, let's say we have a year we go and we lose in the sweet 16. Maybe Pope gets his mojo back and he starts to get on a ride and now he recruits better and he starts to fight like so. No, you're never going to have a scenario where I think it's good for the team Drew to not have success. I remember when Cal was when cows last year. I remember thinking, if they lose in the second round, that will make it very hard. But I still wanted us to beat Oakland. I wasn't sitting there saying, come on, Gulky, make it to where he leaves. I didn't want that.
Shannon
You know, I've heard and it's not many people, like, man, if Pope gets mom Chilovich to go on a run, he might make the final four. We could be stuck with him. I'm like, aren't we trying to make the final four?
Matt Jones
I mean, like, it's the famous quote. Somebody called into a show once when Tubby made his first final four and said, now we're stuck with him. It's like, well, he did what he's supposed to do. That's exactly what you want him to do. Is this right?
Ryan Lemond
Some people, it doesn't matter. They've already got their mindset. They want them out regardless. Yeah, that's a small group.
Matt Jones
All right. Does he by the time we come on on the air Monday, is Momcilovich a cat?
Ryan Lemond
Yes.
Shannon
Yes.
Matt Jones
I'm gonna say yes. I think all the combination of awesome Eric and JQ 2526. I'm worried about Cam Williams not following him on Instagram anymore.
Shannon
It's the rental car for me, that puts it over the edge.
Matt Jones
When he called him back.
Ryan Lemond
No, I said he could, he could. I don't know.
Shannon
The rental car is carrying for you. It's the all in on the rental car.
Matt Jones
All right, so we'll see. Thank you all very much. Looking forward to playing at this golf tournament today. Great to see Ryan. We'll see you on Monday. This has been Kentucky sports radio. In football, you've got guys from everywhere, different backgrounds, different beliefs, all of it. You don't agree on everything, but you got each other's backs. That's how it works. And right now, off the field, hate's going up everywhere. Different communities, different ways. And Jewish communities are getting hit hard. That's not how a team operates. The blue square is just one way of showing you've got people's backs. Go to bluesquarealliance.org, grab one, share it. Be a good teammate.

You know, Steve Carell is a great singer. Can he tell you not to audition the Office or something? I told him we were filming Anchorman. Clearly I was the idiot. Thank God he didn't listen to me right.
