This is Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage and the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety Safe Summer Driving Tour. Now here's Matt Jones.
C
Welcome, everyone. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. Wednesday, June 24th. I'm Matt Jones in Louisville, Kentucky with Shannon the dude. In Lexington are Ryan and Drew. Give us Clark's pump and shot phone line. It's going to be an Ask Anything Wednesday. And here's what I'm going to do. I am not able to go tonight to watch the Reds and the Brewers. I thought the Miz was pitching for the Brewers. It apparently is not, which is good for the Reds. Cause we haven't beaten the brewers and I believe three and a half years, so. But I'm still going to give my tickets away to whoever has the best question for Ask Anything Wednesday. All right. Best question or I'll even go best call. But it's an ask anything. I'd like it to be a question you can have the Reds tickets to tonight. I still, I have this line of people to give them to. I gave it drew to Sean. All right. The. I gave him the ones Monday. The guy who Shannon always would continually knock down.
F
Yeah, I'm staying out of this one. You guys can.
C
I'll, I'll decide. I'm gonna after every call, decide who the leader is at that, at that point in the clubhouse. But the Clark's Puppet shop phone lines 859-280-2287. I'd like to get a lot of questions. You all filled the lines yesterday. So now it's open and you can win the brewers tickets. And if you don't want, then you don't have to take them. You can just have the pride. The Avision Auto glass text machine is 772-774-5254 in this edition sponsored by the TJ Smith Law Office. Call TJ. He'll make them pay. Ryan, last night, potentially my best sleep in eight to 10 years, I think because I didn't sleep a lot the night before.
G
Yes.
C
And you know, all that and the travel and then just the excitement of being back. You being back, I think maybe my best. So I'm running on such energy and excitement today.
G
Well, you know, you were so excited to get to your new house and you didn't get to sleep in your new bed. You said you didn't even have your bed ready to go when you got
C
to your house, and then last night had to stay in Louisville. So, I mean, I haven't had a ton of time in the new house, but it was just. You know, you wake up sometimes, Drew, and you've slept amazing, and you're like, I. I'm ready to take on the world. And I think, Drew, today is that day.
H
We can kind of feel that in your voice. Yeah. I mean, you always bring some energy, but you just sound like a well rested. Does it.
C
Does this sound like a person who's ready to take on the world?
H
It does. I feel like Ryan and I are gonna have to have trouble keeping up here.
C
Well, you need to keep up also. This microphone channel, it just sounds better.
F
Oh, yeah, yeah. The EQ levels are dialed in on that one.
C
What is it about this one that makes it so good?
F
It's a much better, high quality microphone.
C
We should get these in Lexington.
F
Well, that would be kind of hard to have that on a headset. Like, it's a long. Like, what's about a foot long microphone.
C
Yeah. Well, I like it. 859-280-2287. Lot of stuff, actually, to get to yesterday, Ryan, though, one thing. I went to the Louisville Bats.
G
I saw that.
C
Because Hunter Green was pitching.
G
Yes.
C
And Hunter Green, I don't know if you know this. He throws it 165 miles an hour.
G
Wow. That's. That's amazing.
C
And a lot. Couple thoughts on the Louisville Bats game for a second. First of all, did you know, Ryan, that they change uniforms, like, every day at the local bats?
G
I know a lot of the minor league teams do that. They kind of rotate kind of for. For merchandise sales a lot.
C
I love it. They.
E
I thought.
C
Shannon. I was under the impression that the colors for the Louisville Bats were red and maybe sometimes they'd have a little blue, right? Yeah, no, they're everything.
F
Yeah.
C
Yesterday was a color of blue I've never seen before. You know, they do the Louisville humidity where they're orange.
F
They do. They do the Louisville Mashers. That's what they were the night that I went.
C
Oh, is that the bourbon one?
F
Yeah. Yeah.
C
So they have a lot of colors there. I got to say, their team store is so small and they only have, like, two T shirts. They got to get more stuff in there because I would have bought a bunch of stuff. But it is a great time, and I forget how much fun it is. But Hunter Green Was there.
E
Ryan.
C
And I got to watch him warm up. I bought a seat on the third baseline, and I was right next to when he was warming up. And watching a person throw that speed up close is an absolutely mesmerizing thing.
G
Yeah, I saw your video of it. It is when you're that close.
C
He was six feet from me. And watching him, it would also need both teams. They were playing the St. Paul something or others. And both teams. Ryan just came over and were just sitting there watching him warm up. It was an amazing thing to see.
G
And you could probably hear it.
C
You hear the ball zipping through the air when it hits the glove, you know, and he. And I didn't realize, Drew, he's yoked. Is that what the kids say?
H
Whoa, you did get a lot of rest.
C
But you know what? I. That's what, you know, what you said. Yeah, he's yoked.
E
He.
C
He. He's. He's ripped. And so the. I guess the twins had a guy who was on a rehab assignment. Something. His name was, like, Taylor Jenkins. That was an All Star. And when they went against each other, it was like, ryan, all star versus All Star in our little park in Louisville. And I thought that was exciting.
G
Well, that's what's really kind of exciting for, like, Triple A teens, when a big league guy has to come down for rehab assignment. You get to see this guy up close. I mean, how often they get. You're right there right beside him while he's warming up. That doesn't happen.
C
That doesn't happen. And he signed. He signed baseballs for the little kids. And. Shannon, you said he's pitching.
F
I think that he is. Yeah. I'm going to be there on Sunday, so hopefully he is. Otherwise, I'm just going to watch some random pitcher.
C
Yeah. And the Reds, also, The bats have T.J. friedel, who, if you remember, Drew, I can't stand because he's terrible.
H
Oh, probably that's put a damper on what sounds like a fun night.
C
I thought TJ Friedel was out of my life for maybe for the rest of my existence. And he was there. Made an error on the first. On the first play, just. They hit a ball to him, and he fell into the wall and missed it. And I was like, there you go. The T.J. friedel experience.
H
But you were there. He had to put on a show for, you know, when you're in the crowd.
C
And he also. I forgot. That's the guy. That's Cal Perry's cousin. You remember?
F
That's right.
G
Yeah. Oh yeah, that's right.
C
That's the guy. That's Cal Perry's cousin. And he. Because it says he's from Moon Township, but I shout out to Louisville bats. That actually is a lot of fun. I forget how much fun it is till I go. You know they. Shannon, beer is. I don't drink, but beer's like $3.
F
Yeah, it's very affordable. I mean, that's a very nice little minor league baseball stadium they've got there. Always a lot of fun. Very entertaining.
C
So they have the woman that. With the cookies on her head.
F
Yeah, she's been doing that for like 20 years.
C
What is her story? The woman with the. Because for people who don't know outside of Louisville, there's a woman. What is it? Casito? What's her. Is that the name of it starts with a K, right?
F
Yeah, I don't know. I just know her. There's a woman, cookie on her head,
C
who wears cookies on her head.
F
And a basket.
C
And a basket run.
F
A big basket full of cookies.
C
And she's on Bardstown Road, right?
F
I think so, yeah.
C
And she wears cookies on her head. And now I feel like I see the cookies on her head everywhere. Like she's got a whole business out of it. Isn't it Casito? And they had those at the thing and they're $4 and Shannon, they're the best cookies.
F
They are very good. Very, very good.
C
So what would you do know what her story is like? Did she just literally just walk the streets with cookies on her head and then got a store? I don't know because I feel like 20 years ago I would see her walking with the cookies head.
F
I only saw her at the games. I never saw her like on Bardstown Road on a Saturday night. But.
C
Oh, she would be at the actual game with the cookies. Cuz now they have a stand.
F
Oh no, no. She used to walk the aisles with
C
cookies on her head.
F
Yes, Balancing the cookies on her head. That's how I first knew about her.
C
Do you, Ryan, do you or Drew know cookies on her head person?
H
I'm looking her up. She looks familiar now. And I see they had a bobblehead night for her a few years ago.
C
With the cookies on their head.
H
Yeah, she has the big basket on her head and the yellow outfit and they had bobbleheads for. That's awesome.
C
Good for her. Well, I think it's.
G
She walked in the crowd like the. Like a cotton candy guy walked in.
C
Just walked through the crowd. Ryan. I don't know if she does it now? But when I first moved to Louisville, she walked the streets with cookies on her head. And people just.
G
She just sells them on the street.
C
People just did. Now, I think she has a store now. Shannon. Right. I think there's a. There's a brick and mortar.
F
Says it's at 1398 Bardstown.
C
Yeah, it's on Bardstown Road.
G
Wow.
C
And then she was at the. They had it at the game last night as well. All right. Eight, five, nine.
H
Our friends at Whiskey Thief have a new bar there. Did you see that? I want to go. Apparently it's really nice, like a bourbon bar behind home plate.
F
Oh, yeah, yeah, I've been to that. That's like a little speakeasy. Oh, I didn't see invited.
C
I don't think I got invited.
H
Oh, you got another password.
C
I'd like to have gone from whiskey. Well, thanks for the invitation, Whiskey, but
F
they didn't know you were there.
C
Maybe so. 859-2-8, 0, 2, 2, 8, 7. All right, so I want to talk for a second Drew, about UK basketball that we're getting our first set of practice reports. Now, it's just a general rule of thumb. What is your all's take on practice reports? Do you buy them or do you not buy them?
F
Don't buy them.
C
I'm.
H
I'm a little skeptical, but I'll admit I still go all in love reading them. But, you know, there's been many years where so and so can't miss lookout breakout season, and they end up being the worst of the bunch.
C
Right? I mean, we. We started to hear that Amari Williams could be really good in practice reports. I remember I heard people tell me scal is not what you think in practice reports. So sometimes they're very enlightening. Sometimes they're not. I remember last year it was Trent Noah can't miss, remember? During practice.
F
Couldn't make it him in the game.
C
So you're anti practice reports?
F
I mean, not entirely, but when I hear guys being compared to Shay Gilge's Alexander, I'm like, slow down, dude. He was at Furman last year.
C
Oh, is that. Are people comparing Alex Wilkins to Shake?
H
Mark Pope said that.
F
Mark Pope?
C
Wait a minute. I didn't see that. When did he do that?
F
Yesterday.
H
Yesterday?
C
Well, I wasn't really online much yesterday.
H
He and Justin McBride is Julius Randall.
F
Yeah. Come on, man. Like, don't.
C
Wait a minute. I didn't hear either one of these. Yeah, so? So he said Alex Wilkins is Shea
F
Gilous Alexander and Justin McBride had Julius Randall Vibes.
C
Well, then we're going to be really good. Yeah, we are. Bring it on them. Wait a minute. We're getting Shea and Julius Randall.
F
Yeah.
C
And that's not even including Milan, right?
F
Yeah. Who's the greatest shooter ever?
H
Compared him to Larry Bird. I made that one up. But the other two, he did say.
C
Okay, well, I will say so here. Here is the. I think Jack Pilgrim has practice reports, I guess. Where did Mark Pope say that? Yesterday they did like a.
H
The UK Sports network did like a shot clock video where he gives real rapid evaluations of every player. Just a few words on each one.
C
Well, did the other guys get NBA comparisons too?
H
I think those were the only two direct comparisons of the bunch.
C
All right, so. So our point guard, Zoom Diallo. We got Shay Gilgis Alexander at the 2. We got Randall coming off the bench, right?
F
Yeah, that's kind of concerning.
C
That's crazy. Who's not playing? The French guy, Frank. He's not Senegalese guy. He's not playing. Right.
G
Papa Frank.
C
Yeah.
H
Frank's been sitting out.
C
And who's the other one that's not playing?
H
What does it.
F
Cam cam's got a boot.
C
Cam Cam's got a boot. All right, so. So here's what Matt Jones has heard and I've heard really three things. Number one, the thing that I keep hearing in every. And I'm going to down this hill. Hill hail. He's got. This guy's going to be my Antonio Reeves. So just get ready and just remember who was the guy with on Antonio Reeves before everyone else, this dude. I'm not before everyone else, but I'm telling you, Alex Wilkins. I don't know if he's going to be Shay Gilgis Alexander, but I keep hearing best player on the team. You know, just wait. People are going to be like, he's going to be the guy who takes the last shot for us, etc. Drew, are. Are you. Are you buying that report?
H
I can believe that. And I admit I have fallen into these like 12 second practice clips we get. And in some of them he looks like a bucket already. Even though that should be meaningless at this point in the year. I'm very excited to see him.
G
Really?
H
The whole backord I'm fired up about
C
with him on those little 12 seconds. Why do they add little pieces of slow motion? It throws off my evaluation.
H
Gets me more excited.
G
It does look more impressive.
C
Yeah. Okay.
H
I do miss the longer form version of those short clips.
C
And the little things.
F
Hang time looks great in the slow motion. Videos like, man, this guy hangs up there forever.
C
Also, the you continue to hear that Zoom is a really good distributor. And the surprise, and I think Jack said this to the surprise I've heard from people who are watching the practice every day, is they think that Mason Williams, the kid that is Mo Williams kid, is going to be like a real contributor next year. That sort of. Those of us, myself included, who said, don't we need another guard? They're basically like, you have the other guard. You just don't realize it. Ryan, it's Mason Williams. So I'm happy to hear that the kid wasn't ranked in the top 100. I admit to being skeptical that a freshman that's not ranked in top 100 can come in and contribute, but I keep getting told not only will contribute, will be a really good player off the bench.
G
Yeah, you're right. People are demanding. Who's going to be our backup point guard? Well, they've got him. It's him. And I heard he lives in the gym. Like, he's in the gym longer than any player that's ever been there.
H
You can go home to dad's house.
C
It would be mean if his dad has a house ride and won't invite him over. You still invite all your kids over.
G
That's right. Yeah, but he likes to live in the gym.
H
In the background of what they shared yesterday. You know, they have the big. I guess it's the Noah system on the wall with the stats. If you look closely, he had taken 6,000 shots and the next closest was like 4,000. Is that who truly living in the
G
gym like he's there all the time.
C
Well, that's good. So, I mean, I feel good about all of that, you know, Moreno, I think we know. I think we have a pretty good idea of what Milan's going to do. Frank's not playing, so it's hard to really learn a lot. But I really like what I've heard about Wilkins, Zoom and Mason Williams. And you know, I. You got to have guards, and the practice reports, whether you believe them or not for me, have made me feel good at least about the. The backcourt. 859-280-2287 it's ask anything Wednesday. If you ask the best question, you'll get tickets to the Reds and Brewers. Even if you don't want them, you can still win. And if you don't want them, then you can sign them to somebody else if you want. We'll take a break and be right back. Ksr.

C
welcome back tech E Sports Radio. So the Casito lady Shannon as a son that went and played D1 basketball for Xavier.
F
Oh, okay.
C
The story of her life is on the packaging of the cookies. She grew up in Uganda and was born in a village there, ended up in Louisville and created Kizito cookies She's
F
got great cookies and great balance.
C
She really does. They were sold at Trinity High School every day from 2002 to 2006. And in that neighborhood. Then she moved and started walking up and down Bardstown Road. Ended up with the building, and that's how the casito cookie started.
F
That's a great story.
C
That's the American dream, right?
F
Entrepreneur there. Yeah.
C
Yeah.
G
Now she's a star at the Louisville Bats game.
C
That really is. That's a great. That's a great story. One person writes. All right, so we have some questions coming in. These are the questions I like. Matt, you have to go on a road trip with four KSR callers. Who you taking? Just me and those four.
E
Wow.
C
All right, help me out here. Jay, J.
G
Rock. J Rock.
C
I don't know enough about what J. Rock's actually like. Jay and Lyndon.
F
I'm taking Be Darryl jokes the whole time.
C
Who else am I taking?
F
Somebody that's quiet. You don't want somebody that's going to be, like, annoying, obnoxious the entire time.
C
Come on, help me out. We have a lot of callers. Jay and Lyndon is.
H
I enjoy Johnny Versace.
C
Johnny Versace. I'll take Johnny Versace. Yeah, I said now. I'm taking Jay and Lyndon. I'm taking Johnny Versace. Wildcat Corey. He doesn't call a lot. Yeah, but. But he's fun.
H
How far back are we going?
C
There's some older callers alive, so it's.
H
Of course, of course. But, like, fake Barney hadn't called many years.
C
All right, there you go. That's a good start for my good group. I'm glad that have people knocked out. But for right now, I'll take fake Barney. I'm writing these down because this may change over the course of the show. Jay and Lyndon, Johnny Versace, and what was my other one? Wildcat Corey. Fun, actually. I think that would actually be a fun car.
H
Chester could be good for team morale if we get down a little bit, maybe a little pep talk, you know?
C
But I feel like about every day, Shannon, he would just start to yell at me.
F
You'd be like, the possum comes out at night.
C
He'd be like. He'd go, don't be taking all these laughs. Liberal.
F
Yeah.
C
So I think I have to leave Chester at home for those.
E
For.
C
For that reason. One person writes, Matt to my ask anything question is, why does McDonald's refuse to give you a large cup when you order ice water? Great. Well, they. I don't know. Why do you think It's a little
F
plastic cup that you can see through.
C
They want to make sure you're getting water. I think that's right. They don't want you to take the cup and then go get a Coke.
B
Yeah.
G
Get a refill.
C
Can I give you my pet peeve of restaurants? I'm not going to call them out, but I have some restaurants I really like that do this. I hate when you order a drink at restaurant Shannon and it's, you know, you fill it up at a fountain yourself and they give you a little tiny cup.
F
Oh, yeah, yeah.
C
If I'm going to order a soda, give me a full cup. Because then you just have to keep going back and forth. I mean, I know why they do it. They don't want you to take too much.
B
Right, Right.
C
But I don't like that. Drew, to me, you give me. If I buy a soda and I get unlimited refills, give me a regular man size cup.
H
Especially if you're like taking it and leaving. If you're sitting there, I guess you could take a couple more trips to the fountain. But if I'm just going to the fountain one time, I need the biggest you got.
C
It's what I paid for, So I am. That does annoy me. And there are some restaurants that I like that are listening right now. You need to fix that. That's. That's a little rude to your customers. All right, let's get started. Ask anything. Ask anything Wednesday. By the way, a couple people that have also watched Practice agree with the Alex Wilkins thing that he wrote me.
A
Dude.
C
No, just that he's really, really good. They didn't say Shay, but good. Sign. All right. For the tickets. Debbie, Go ahead. Debbie.
E
Hi, Matt. This is Debbie Amos. I'm the one that called you about two weeks ago about my husband Donnie being blind doing 391.
C
Yes. That got a lot of response. You have the blind husband that you claim can curl 391.
E
I don't claim it. I sent you a video of it.
C
Yeah, but it didn't come through. You sent it on the text machine. And sometimes videos don't come through there. So I haven't. I have not seen it.
E
After I send that, he done 407 and I record it too.
C
So you have now recorded your blind. How old is he?
E
He's 66 and he done 407. I recorded him.
C
Okay, Debbie, I'm not arguing with you. Okay. Do you have another way to send the video? Because when you send it through the text machine, it won't go through. Do you have any. Do you have social media?
E
I don't think so.
C
Do you have email? Yeah, send me an email. Matt.jones@kentucky sportsradio.com attach that because I do want to see it and I just haven't seen it yet. But people are skeptical that a 66 year old blind man can curl 407. You understand that?
E
I know they are. That's why I took pictures. I know they are. Everybody is around where we live too, in Eat town.
C
Oh, so eat. The town of E town is skeptical.
E
Yeah, well, people. Some of the people that lives here is. They want to see it. They don't believe me. They think he's on steroids or something.
C
But he's not.
F
I know what, hey, he does it one time, right? He's not doing like five. He's doing like one. That's still impressive though.
E
The first time I. The first time I video it, I wasn't really sure how to video it with the 391 and he done it three times before I got it right.
F
I got to see this.
C
Okay. So I got to see it too. So you're going to email it. What do you do when the people in E Towns say they don't believe you?
E
I don't care because I live with him and I watched him do it, so I know he can do it. So you broke the record. The record is 295 with one arm curly.
C
And you're saying he bo. He broke it by 110 pounds?
E
Yeah, he done 407 last week. I video one arm. He doesn't.
G
This was one arm.
E
One arm.
F
This is Paul Bunyan.
C
Debbie. That's a lot.
H
Bill Brasky.
C
So you're. Are you telling me you. You don't give him steroids?
E
No. He takes vitamins, he takes proteins, he
C
takes people
E
and lots of prayer because he gives. Everything he does, he gives it to God and God has blessed him. He's been doing it for 40 some years.
C
Okay, and what's his name? What's his name?
A
Debbie?
E
Donnie. Donnie Amos.
C
No, that's. That was a radio.
F
Don Imus is not doing that.
E
No.
C
Okay.
E
It's not that old man.
C
No, it's your old man, right? Like, it's like it's a different old man.
E
No, it's my husband. He's not the one that had all that money in Louisville. No.
C
Yeah, he doesn't live in Louisville, but that's okay. All right, so. So I want to see it. You send me the video Debbie, I. I'll just tell you. You may hear in the voice of Shannon and other skepticism. I believe you. All right. You would not lie to me, would you, Debbie?
E
No.
C
And you promise you're not giving him. You promise you're not giving him. I know, but I didn't get it. It didn't come through. It wouldn't play. You promise you're not giving him steroids?
E
God is my witness.
C
All right, well, God, you wouldn't lie in front of the Lord. So send me the video. And Debbie, I'll let people know when I see it. Okay?
E
Okay. And we're from Eat Town, Kentucky.
C
Etown, Kentucky.
E
All right.
C
Thank you very much, Debbie.
E
Okay.
G
I think. I think we have to go there. We have to take our show to E Town.
C
And I'm gonna go ahead and say this. If she sends me that video. Are you all here?
F
Yeah.
G
Yes.
C
And he does it. Then we're going to eat.
G
We have to go.
C
We'll take a break. Right back. KSI, TJ Smith, personal injury attorney. Call tj.
F
He'll make him pay. Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
C
Welcome back. Techy Sports Radio. 859-280-2287. Text machine is 772-774-5254. One person writes. Matt, did you see the woman that poured the trash out of the trash can and took it? Got fired. I saw that. I understand you can't be stealing trash cans. No, she worked it like J.P. morgan. She had a good job.
H
Yeah, she's like an executive.
F
Salary was great.
C
How much was she making?
F
It's like 300 and some thousand dollars.
C
She gave it all up for a trash.
G
Stole a trash can. Empty the trash can.
C
Stole it.
H
I think if it were empty and she just took it, maybe she gets away with it. But just dumping all that trash all
C
over the sidewalk, that would matter was the fact that she took the.
H
Yeah, somebody's gonn to pick that up.
G
Yeah.
H
We got to be better as a society.
G
Totally disrespectful.
C
Agree with that. I agree, but otherwise you're good with her taking the trash can?
H
I'm good with it, but it's a lot more extreme that she just dumped all of that trash on a. On a sidewalk.
F
She could have bought a lot of trash cans for $300,000.
C
She could. A lot of people skeptical about Debbie.
F
Oh, dude, I put a poll online. Come on, man. Like I would believe that Alex Wilkins is the next shake. Yes. Alexander, before I believe that guy £400.
C
Debbie, I believe you, honey.
G
Sounds like a wonderful, nice lady.
F
Press. Sure.
C
I believe she tried to send me a video.
F
I just watched the world record. It was £250.
C
Well, we. We're going to see £150 more.
G
We brought a good point in our studio. Don Imus is blind. They got me. Might be just telling him it's 407 pounds and it's really not.
C
That's not a good point. And this Debbie is the one saying it, not Don.
G
She's just taking Don's word.
C
Debbie is the one giving him the weight.
H
I think if it weren't Debbie, this, this nice woman, I would probably call in this person liar. But I don't think Debbie would lie to us.
F
Is Debbie picking up £400?
C
You said she's giving him the weight too, right? I believe you, Debbie, and I'm looking forward to seeing the video. Matt Dot Jones at Kentucky. Got to spell out Kentucky. Kentucky sportsradio.com Ask anything Wednesday. Andy, go ahead.
E
Hey, what's up, guys? Got my Wednesday hypothetical.
C
Oh, man, you. You've been on fire with this. What. What do you got?
E
Okay, so you can have $10 million. Okay. But in order to have it, you have to agree to. If you, you're gonna wake up the rest of your life every morning for the third, first 30 minutes of your day uncontrollably sobbing, just wake up in a. Just a wave of sadness, but the rest of the day you're fine.
C
Okay. All right, that's. You know what? First of all, Andy, I mean, would you even go to the Reds game if I, If I, if we, if you won?
E
I don't. I, I don't have a way. Okay.
C
I didn't think it's hard.
F
That'll make you watching the Reds.
C
All right, I, I appreciate it.
E
I'm a bright fan too, so I understand.
C
I appre. Randy. What do you think, Shannon, you would do it?
F
You're money hungry Million dollars to cry for 30. Everybody needs a good cry in their life.
C
Jim Valvano says cry every day.
F
That's right. And they make $10 million.
C
Ryan, would you cry every day for 30?
G
Of course I'm crying for 30 minutes. But then I am happy as a lark the rest of the day with my $10 million.
E
All right.
C
What about you?
H
Oh, I'm all in. Everybody needs a good cry. Let out that emotion. Kind of, kind of clears you up a little bit. Get your brain in the right spot. Yeah, I'll take it.
C
I think I'm in too. Because I mean, if it's just crying and the I'm not. There's not an event that is triggering it. Right. Because like, what's bad about crying is not the act of crying.
F
Yeah.
C
It's that something is genuinely making you sad.
F
Like somebody cutting onions around you.
H
Yeah.
C
So if it's just that I'm crying because that's my physical reaction and nothing else has happened to make me sad, then yeah, it's worth it. I lay in bed for 15 to 30 minutes every morning just to kind of wake up. I'll just cry during that period.
F
I cry when my alarm clock goes off every morning at 5:30. So yeah, I mean, it's so I'm good.
C
I like that one. And then give me the 10 million. Kaden, go ahead. Kaden, go ahead.
E
My question is, if every Kentucky coach in history were drafted onto a softball team, who gets picked first and who gets picked last?
C
Oh, good. That's a good question. Are we. We're talking about basketball.
E
Yes.
C
Okay. They're. But they're playing softball.
E
Yeah.
C
All right, I appreciate the call. So here's what I'll do. They have to be the age that they were at coaching at uk.
G
Okay.
C
Who do we think was the best softball player when they were at uk?
F
I got a thought.
C
Go ahead.
F
Well, you know, big thing about softball is beer league softball. And Billy Gillespie, I feel like would be perfect for a beer league softball.
C
Well, okay, so let's start with who do we think was athletic while they were coaching?
H
I think Mark Pope's high on this list for that.
C
I do too. I think Mark Pope and I feel range. But do you think he has hand eye coordination?
H
Oh, yeah. He played the NBA.
D
Yeah.
F
You have to have that.
C
Okay, I'm with you. I'm probably saying Mark Pope is first. I'm going to say Tubby was slim
F
when he was here at Kentucky.
G
You know, see, and they played basketball six o' clock in the morning every morning. They were all pretty athletic.
C
Assistant coach. I don't think he was playing when he was the head coach. That was in the early nights. I'm actually going to say Rick would be second.
G
That you got to use. He was super athletic when he was a coach here.
C
So I'm going to say Rick is second. How athletic? I don't think Adolph RUP was athletic when he was coaching. Every picture I've seen, he looked old. Same with Shannon.
H
Shannon's philosophy, you got Eddie Sutton and Billy Gillespie would be high.
C
So you think drinking is a big Part, Yeah.
F
Of course, if you have a softball team, you get a bit beer league.
C
So I'm going to go this. If it were me, I'm going to say first pick, Mark Pope. Second pick, Rick Patino, Third pick, Billy Gillespie. Fourth pick, Tubby Smith. Then Cal, then Eddie, then Joby, then Rob.
H
How had the hip replacement, though? Yeah, I mean, that's big. How are you going to round first with a bad point?
F
Yeah.
H
Can't get around on the ball.
C
Eddie, is he behind Joe B? I think he's ahead of Joe B. Yeah, he's still. I mean, Joe B, though, we think of Joby at the end of his life, but Joe B. In it, when he was coaching at Kentucky was probably in his, what, late 40s, early 50s?
G
Doesn't seem like.
C
Yeah, I'm still gonna put Cal ahead of Joe.
H
Joe B. Was 44 when he got the job.
B
Really?
C
He was that young?
G
Wow.
H
So trying to do quick math here.
C
Okay, Zach. Go ahead, Zach. Wait a minute. That's my leader. I did. We didn't get his email, did we, though?
F
No. Who.
C
Who was. What was his name? Kate Kaden. So that'll be my leader right now. Go ahead, Zach.
E
If you could attend any sporting event in history, what game would it be and why? It can be any sport at any time.
C
I read a book a few years back about the rumble in the jungle of Ali and Foreman in what is now the Democratic Republic of Congo. But was Zaire back then and all that led up to it and all that happened and just everything surrounding it. And I think the best sporting event to have ever covered would have been that to be there the couple weeks before with all that was going on, the fight. There are documentaries about it, so I'm going to say the rumble in the jungle of Ali and Foreman. Ryan, what about you?
G
Maybe the 1980 hockey game when they won the gold medal.
H
Good one.
C
It's a good one. Over against the. Well, they, you know, they beat the Russians in the semifinal.
G
Correct, people, that was the gold medal game.
C
Miracles game was the gold. But it was the semifinals.
G
Correct.
C
All right. What about you, Drew?
H
Can I interfere? Can I, like, storm in and.
C
No, you just have to watch it.
H
Maybe Tiger winning the Masters and what was it, 99, 96.
A
Yeah.
C
So when he was like 20 or whatever.
H
Really, any of them. But yeah, I'll take.
C
Okay, I like that.
H
The one, just the last one, when he surprised everyone. I did cry. I was at KSBAR crime.
C
What about you?
F
1992 Braves Pirates game, NLCS. Siddh. The slide would be crazy to be in Atlanta.
C
If you go back and look at that.
F
Yeah.
C
Because remember when, when Francisco Cabrera got that hit, we were down.
F
Yeah.
C
It was a what? We were down one. The guy on third scores and then Bream comes around from second.
F
Yeah. Just to score the tie.
C
If you go watch that video, there are very few crowds that have lost their mind more than that one.
F
Yep. And I wonder if instant replay existed.
C
Was he safe?
F
Was he safe or was he out?
C
We'll never know. Very close. It's hard to know really.
F
It'd be nice to be able to go back and retrospectively I think those
C
are all great picks by the way. I think we just picked four of the absolute best things in the world. I'd be in the 7. 727-745-25 4. What would you add to. That's a great question. You know what? I'm gonna go ahead and take away Kaden. Are you. I think that's Zach. Zach. Hang on, we'll get your email. You're gonna be the leader right now. Cause I, I, I like that question. We'll take a break and be. I need to do an ad, right, Shannon?
F
Yeah.
C
Let me do an ad.
F
Do an ad or just make Ryan do a Stockton head.
C
Is he, is that one of them?
F
Yeah.
C
All right, Ryan. It's been a while. Talk about Stockton Mortgage.
G
I have worked with Stockton Mortgage since I've been out for a couple on a couple deals and they've got us to the closing table once and we're gonna get to the closing table this weekend. Stockton Mortgage, easy to work with. This is the right time to buy. But you gotta get pre approved, get your financing in order before you go out there looking for that house. I mean there's new house popping up all the time. Be ready for it if you're looking. Stockton Mortgage can help you do it all the way. So Stockton Mortgage and MLS 8259 equal housing lender.
C
I think we did a good job with the road trip question because I people are suggesting ones that I've seen nobody I would take out. I think I was a pretty good group.
G
It's a good group.
D
Yeah.
C
Yeah. We'll take a break. Be right back. Ksr.

F
Well, we got to see it. I believe Debbie and I don't think that use AI either. So I believe it.
C
If she sent it, dubby did dubbing Debbie is not. She's not gonna make it up. So if they, if it hasn't happened Drew, I do think there's a rational explanation like some, like there's some confusion or you know what I mean? Like I don't think she's just making that up.
H
She would not lie to us.
C
Exactly. I do not think she would lie. One Person writes. Matt. Have any of you ever gone on a date with a caller from the radio show?
G
No.
C
Yeah, once. Did you long.
F
Jasmine. I knew it.
C
Jasmine.
F
Remember Jasmine?
C
No.
F
Who is that called in, had the cute voice. We always talked about her.
C
Yeah, that was a long time ago. Was it Edie? You went with?
H
Edie?
C
It's a long, long time. This was like year one or two. And I didn't do it because she was a caller. I met her at another point and I was like, oh, you're the person that you remember, Shannon, that one woman that would call a couple times and always would say like that she had tried to get me to go out with her. Do you know she got famous, that woman. Do you remember, do you remember that person, the girl Alex, that does the Clark. Do you remember that she was a DJ here?
F
Alex, on the mic.
C
No, no, no, no, no, no, no. The one you used to give me a hard time about it. She was, she does like. She does like a make America healthy again thing now, huh? You remember she called you used to. Used to screw with me about it all the time.
F
Yeah, I don't know. I guess I've forgotten over the years.
C
Yeah. It was a different show though back then. Like it. It was just different. Yeah, you know, that was when it was just me and Shannon sitting in a room looking for a co host.
F
Sorry it didn't work out for you.
H
Reading Facebook, birthdays.
C
Yeah, she got really famous. She does like, like I said, health stuff. Secretary at the secretary. That the Belmont.
G
Yeah, that's another good one. Actually.
C
A lot of Cubs fans are riding game seven and I guess that was what, 2016 when they won. Yeah, couple people saying the UFC event at the White House. You're not, you're not trolling me. I'm not, I'm not. I'm not dealing with that. Babe Ruth, three home runs in the 1928 World Series. Now somebody's making the case for Adolph on the softball. Matt. He became coach when he was 28. He wrestled and played basketball in college. He had to have been athletic when he first started. Drew, that's a good point. If we're talking about when he first started. If he was 28 years old, he was probably pretty good at softball.
H
Yeah, we think about, you know, in his older years because we didn't live through it at the time, but if he was that young, I'd move him up the list quite a bit.
G
Yeah. Wouldn't you take a 25, 28 year old Adolph Rup over a 55 year old at Mark. Pope at number one.
C
Maybe. So maybe I have to move him from last to first. Like the 92 Braves.
F
Yeah. Worst to first.
C
Worst to first. We got to talk for a second before I go back, phones, about this superintendent in Fayette County. Did you see what he did? Remember, he resigned, then came back and said, I didn't resign. Then they fired him. He has demanded his job back. Not just said, pay me, Shannon. Give me my job back or else. And he said yesterday, if you don't give me my job back by Wednesday, I'm telling everything I know.
G
Bring it. Let him spill the beans. Get it out there.
C
Well, first of all, they can't bring you back, Right?
F
Well, then we're going to get some good, juicy information.
C
So what do you think the juice is like? He was the one in charge, so what else? What juice could it be he's just
H
going to tell on himself further? You all didn't know I did this.
F
I think he's going to tell some other stuff that other people maybe did. Maybe their hands aren't as clean as their own.
C
People that he's going to talk about are people that were below him.
G
I guess maybe he's going to spill the beans out of mishandling of some of those funds that got him in all kinds of trouble.
F
Yeah. Pass the blame to somebody else.
C
So you. You want him to go rogue?
G
I want him to, yes. You know what's crazy? He was voted superintendent of the year and then he gets fired.
C
All the might. How the mighty have fallen.
F
I want to see what other rocks he's going to.
C
Yeah, let's go. He said, why not? Look, I don't know anything about him, and I didn't follow anything that happened, so I don't even know what he's accused of doing. But I would say, Drew, objectively, he seems like a pretty loose cannon.
H
Oh, yes. Especially for something like the school board. That just makes it a little bit worse to me where we're supposed to focus on, you know, kids and their education.
C
He must be just. He's just like. I mean, what could it even be, Shannon?
F
I don't know, but I can't wait to find out.
G
But I want to hear it.
C
Yeah, but he said midnight tonight or it all comes out.
G
Okay, 1201. I want to see it.
C
So tomorrow we might have a lot of good stuff.
F
Yeah. Show content. Dr. Dave's.
C
Let's go.
F
Dr. Dave's has got the.
C
Dr. Dave's is going to have a whole new section tomorrow. Let's go, Liggins. I didn't. I mean, put it out there. I don't know what it is. I think he's probably making that up, but bring it.
G
Unless bluff.
C
Unless it's about somebody on the show, and then just let it go. Gary in Orlando. Go ahead, Gary.
E
Well, welcome back, Ryan. Great to hear your voice again, buddy.
G
Thanks, Gary.
E
Yes, sir. This is my question, Matt, but have you seen the video of the big European making the jump shot in practice yesterday when he shot the ball? The ball rotates forward instead of backwards. Did you see that?
C
What do you mean it rotates forwards?
E
You watch the replay. Instead of the ball rotating backwards towards the player, he shot a jump shot and the ball rotated forward. You go look at it. I'm telling you, it's.
C
You're saying he put top spin on his three.
E
He put. He put top spin on the ball. It was slight. I don't know, maybe it slipped out of it, but it still went in.
F
I don't believe anything on this show today.
G
How.
C
How would someone do that? Like, are you making Gary, what are you talking about? Are you talking about when they slowed the ball down? Did that confuse you?
E
Matt, I've watched a million basketball games. The ball rotated forward.
C
Okay, all right, I'll tell you what. I'll have Drew look at it during the break and he can tell me.
H
Trying to watch it right now.
C
So I'll have Drew look at during the break. What's your question?
E
My question is the four guys you're going on the KSR trip, who's first alternate and please remember who's on this end of the phone.
C
No, I know Gary, You're. You're very nice, but you and I think always be trying to create watch parties. Everywhere we went.
H
You'd want to start. Stop at every B Dubs.
C
You would always want to go to B Dub. So I don't. I can't take you. I appreciate the call. I can't come out. Yeah, we have to drive all the way down there and get you. Yeah, appreciate the call. Yeah. I mean, Chester right now would be my first.
G
I had somebody brought up a. An option that of Andy just for his hypothetical.
C
I've been with Andy. He gets too drunk.
E
You can't.
C
You can't take Andy.
H
We couldn't let him drink.
C
We got one drunk in Mario already when he gets Cliff. Go ahead, Cliff.
E
All right. So. So, Matt, this first one's for you, and then next one's for everybody else. So, Matt, are you going to write a second book. And then my second question is if you were to ride watch a movie, Matt, read a book about an autobiography about what UK player since Billy Gillespie's error and then non UK player, whose book would you want to read or what autobiography movie would you want to watch? Ryan and Drew?
C
I don't know if you really watch movies. I appreciate the call, so. Well, the problem is guys, since Billy Gillespie's here, they're so young that like how much has really happened in their lives. Yeah, I don't know. I mean, what do you think? Somebody give me a name since the Billy Gillespie era. I mean, basically talking about cow and.
G
Yeah, I mean, didn't Oscar have a good story growing up and things?
H
Scout survived an earthquake.
G
Scout survived an earthquake. Yeah.
C
You know, scalp growing up in Haiti.
G
That's a good one.
C
That's a good one actually. Probably scal. And then what's it like to have the top pick and then be disappointing? I like actually scouts. Good answer. We'll take a break, come back hour two. It's ksr.

This lively hour of Kentucky Sports Radio features a quintessential “Ask Anything Wednesday,” where listeners call in with unusual and thought-provoking questions for the crew, with the winner receiving Matt’s Reds-Brewers tickets. The team shares stories from local sports, discusses early UK basketball practice reports and player comparisons under new Coach Mark Pope, delights in the legend of Louisville’s “cookie lady,” and debates Kentucky basketball coaches’ hypothetical skills as softball players. Listeners pepper the show with hypotheticals, local legends, and hot takes, culminating in memorable, off-the-rails moments of small-town Kentucky whimsy.

True to the KSR tradition, the hour blends laughs, wild local lore, playful skepticism, and raucous, lightly irreverent banter. The chemistry among the hosts and their willingness to entertain all manner of listener questions keep the tone energetic, accessible, and deeply rooted in Kentucky sports and small-town flavor.
This hour exemplifies why KSR is a staple in Bluegrass State sports radio: unfiltered, unpredictable, and always lively—where minor league baseball, UK basketball, and a possible world-record curling husband can all share the same stage.
