this is Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage and the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety. Safe Summer Driving Tour. Now here's Matt Jones.
Drew Franklin
I'm just getting worked up thinking about these players not being in there. Like you were talking about names and stuff. I mean, Craig east had SEC records for receiving.
Ryan Lemond
Yes.
Drew Franklin
Derek Abney had NCAA records for punt returns.
Matt Jones
Right.
Drew Franklin
Max Duffy should be up there. He was the national punter of the year.
Ryan Lemond
Exactly.
Drew Franklin
No, I'm not. I know he's my friend, but he should. If you're going to, if you're going to acknowledge punter is a position, he's the best one we've ever had. Jerry Lorenzen, Andre Woodson.
Sean Clements
Marty Moore still has the record for tackles.
Drew Franklin
Marty Moore has the record for tackles. You can't just wait till these people die. I mean, it was a travesty that they waited till Mike Pratt died to put him in the ring of honor
Ryan Lemond
because he deserved to be up.
Drew Franklin
He deserved to be up there. It was kind of borderline as a player, but close. But then after his years of broadcasting like that should take it over.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. I felt like Melvin Turpin was kind of the same way. He's not up there and he, you know, he's passed away.
Drew Franklin
So you wait and you wait and you wait for what? You know.
Caller
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
I mean, for why.
Ryan Lemond
Why I Don't know. I don't have an answer. I don't know why they haven't done it in basketball since Tony Delk, what, 15 years ago, whenever it was.
Drew Franklin
And it also was a great moment for people to celebrate.
Ryan Lemond
Yes.
Drew Franklin
To bring these people back to teach kids who these people are. Right. To teach younger fans who they are. So like, what is the negative? If you want it like, you know, North Carolina does that thing where they won't put you up there unless you're a first team All American or whatever or, or national player of the year, that's fine. But that's not our standard. We've got CM's drinking buddies,
Yamaneika Saunders
so.
Drew Franklin
Okay, maybe you don't take people off. So then let's put people, especially in football, because you're not even like having to hang a banner. It's just a name around the ring.
Ryan Lemond
You know, I really feel like for basketball and for football, one game a year they should dedicate to. I'm for hiring somebody, certainly.
Drew Franklin
At least until we catch up.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
Because when we get to the Cal era, there's going to be a lot.
Ryan Lemond
They have to adjust the rules to get these cow guys in there.
Drew Franklin
So, Tim, you know Shannon, we heard Ryan's attempt at the fight song.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
Tim sent me. This is a two year old and their version of it. This is at a Walmart.
Ryan Lemond
That's beautiful.
Matt Jones
I don't.
Ryan Lemond
That is beautiful.
Matt Jones
The baby even missed one word.
Drew Franklin
No, the baby destroy.
Ryan Lemond
Yes.
Caller
Easily.
Ryan Lemond
Easily.
Drew Franklin
Like, like destroyed you.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Maybe that's what we do. Baby versus Ryan.
Drew Franklin
Oh, baby versus Ryan.
Ryan Lemond
I lost to a sixth grader that one time we did a.
Drew Franklin
Yes, there are definitely children who could beat you at Kentucky trivia.
Ryan Lemond
Oh, and there's no.
Drew Franklin
The only thing you're really good at is old football. But even then you only got 13 guys.
Caller
Yes.
Drew Franklin
But like, yeah, we. We need to do child versus. I mean there was a show, right. The Jeff Foxworthy show. I would like to do that with Ryan. I think it would be fun. All right, couple. Let's go for a couple things and we'll go to the phones. John Wall was at the Arkansas Bahamas game yesterday. Some people got upset about that. He was at the Bahamas game. When I first saw he was going to be there, I was like, well, I don't love it, but I understand that's his coach. I get it. But he went all the way to the Bahamas. I did though. I was proud of him. Do you see the two things he did? They called the Hogs. He refused.
Ryan Lemond
He did Not.
Drew Franklin
He is the only one in the crowd not calling the Hogs. And they did a video in the locker room where they tried to do that viral 64 from Kentucky and he walks out of the frame when they do it. Does that work for you?
Sean Clements
Yeah, I'm fine with him making the trip. It's the Bahamas. Can't blame him at all. We knew he'd support Cal. I got no problem with that. That's his coach. I think he played it just right. He didn't lean all the way into Arkansas being a fan or anything. He was just there to watch basketball. Man's retired, enjoying life.
Ryan Lemond
He said publicly that that's my coach, but I'm Kentucky through and through and I think he's always going to be that way.
Drew Franklin
I agree. So I'm good with.
Ryan Lemond
I'm very good with. I'm glad he didn't call the Hogs.
Drew Franklin
If he called the Hogs, I would have been upset. He knows better than call the Hogs.
Matt Jones
Yeah, he can't do that.
Sean Clements
He knows that he's just a man watching basketball. Can't blame him.
Drew Franklin
Good weather, by the way. I. I respect that they have a thing the calling the Hogs, but Shane and I would hate for that to be our thing.
Matt Jones
Oh well. Even to be a hog to begin with.
Drew Franklin
Pig do it.
Ryan Lemond
It's pretty good impersonation.
Drew Franklin
What does that even mean?
Sean Clements
Remember it took Cal a while to do it.
Caller
Pig.
Drew Franklin
Is it? Do you say pig? Suey. To pigs. I mean, this may surprise you. I haven't than a lot of pig
Ryan Lemond
farming they holler like Sue.
Matt Jones
But what does that do?
Drew Franklin
But what does that do?
Ryan Lemond
I don't know. That's just kind of what you do to pigs.
Drew Franklin
What do you mean?
Ryan Lemond
You do it to them to get them to move. To get them.
Drew Franklin
But there's. It can't be that. Pigs know that the word suey is to move. That's what they don't.
Caller
They use.
Drew Franklin
Pigs don't speak English.
Ryan Lemond
They. They speak sui.
Drew Franklin
No, they speak. I remember in school they speak pig Latin. Yes, they speak pink Latin.
Ryan Lemond
That's Mario's clip for the day though. Matt doing the.
Drew Franklin
I just. It's so dumb. If you had to do that like now I will say in the SEC tournament. That can be haunting.
Ryan Lemond
Yes.
Drew Franklin
When they do it. But it's also dumb, isn't it?
Sean Clements
You just gotta be a fan of pigs. Who wants to be a fan of pigs?
Matt Jones
But we get cats. Cats. Cats. Cats. That's ours.
Drew Franklin
Listen, I'm not saying ours is the
Matt Jones
best no, it's better that I think, than that.
Drew Franklin
By the way, I learned something in this. I was reading this fact book for you for uk. Do you know where. Where we got the name Wildcats?
Ryan Lemond
No, not really.
Sean Clements
Yeah, it's from. They said we played like wildcats in, like, 1910 or something.
Drew Franklin
Well done, Drew. That's right. We beat Illinois 6 to 2, October 9, 1909. In football, it was 6 to 2. Wow. Command it, Commander. Commandant. Is that a phrase? Commandant? I guess so. Commandant Philip Karbusier was then head of the UK Military department. He told a group of students in a chapel service that the team did not attend, that the team had fought like Wildcats, and it then became the nickname. That's a really odd story. The team was not there. He went to a group of people at church and said, the team fought like Wildcats and somehow it stuck.
Ryan Lemond
Stuck.
Sean Clements
There's a lot of old. Like, a lot of the mascots now. It's named similar things like. Like, the local beat writers said they looked like Tigers out there today, and then now, 100 years later, they're the Tigers. I think it's just pretty easy to name your team.
Drew Franklin
Isn't that weird?
Sean Clements
It's a little weird.
Matt Jones
Billy was looking back through that book yesterday and telling me that there were scores from the 1800s where it was like 3.2 to 6.4.
Drew Franklin
Yes. They used to.
Matt Jones
How does that work?
Drew Franklin
I don't know. I'm not sure. I'm not sure how it worked, but. But they used to use decimal points. Now one person writes in and says, matt, I was excited about our media day show. I like everybody, but I have two issues that worry me. I need you to tell me if this should worry you for our football team. Number one, our offensive line said the hardest workout they do is yoga.
Sean Clements
I could see that. For offensive line, though. It's hard to get those bodies turning the way people, good people, do yoga.
Drew Franklin
If you do yoga the right way and it's in the heat, it could be the hardest thing you do. I mean, like, I've. Yoga's hard.
Sean Clements
Well, you. Next to Colton Price, imagine him doing downward dog. That probably is one of the harder
Drew Franklin
things, you know it would be.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
And if you want to stay. There are studies that say that the two best things you can do through life is build muscle mass and do yoga. I ain't gonna build any muscle mass. So yoga may be the thing. I had a yoga instructor, but then she moved out of her studio, and I had me doing it in a garage, and I didn't get the same Zen. So if I could find a yoga instructor that would have me in a yoga vibe, I would like to start again.
Sean Clements
You're back to being a yogi?
Drew Franklin
Yeah, because I love. It worked. I lost weight, I felt better. But I don't want to go to a group class. I want to do it one on one. And I can't do it in this. In a garage. So, like, I've got to find.
Sean Clements
You have your own little blocks.
Drew Franklin
She had them.
Sean Clements
See. Gotta get your block.
Drew Franklin
So I don't consider that a negative, do you?
Ryan Lemond
Not at all. Okay, people that think yoga is easy, try it. Do it one time. You'll be sore for days afterwards.
Drew Franklin
So one person. Yeah, yoga girl knows one person writes. All right. So his second thing was that our defense coordinator buttons the top button on his shirt and it looks like it's choking him to death.
Sean Clements
Was very tight.
Matt Jones
Well, our ads to do that.
Drew Franklin
Have you seen the video?
Ryan Lemond
I saw it.
Drew Franklin
Okay, so he doesn't need like. Looked like he was going to strangle himself with that shirt. I don't know the man. I'm thinking he can go one button down. Right. With Mitch, I thought it meant he was like snooty and stuck up.
Sean Clements
And his neck was much thinner than Bateman's.
Drew Franklin
For this guy, it's like he's going to hurt himself.
Sean Clements
Like, I don't think he could fit a finger in order to make room between his neck and the defensive. Bateman football coach.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
Just if you go look at the video.
Ryan Lemond
Little snug.
Drew Franklin
Look at that.
Ryan Lemond
Little snug.
Drew Franklin
My man.
Sean Clements
It's tight.
Drew Franklin
You're going to. You're going to suffocate.
Sean Clements
I worry about him in a game turning red. You got to let that blood.
Drew Franklin
His veins pop. That button's pop.
Ryan Lemond
It's shooting off and hitting.
Drew Franklin
Somebody's going to shoot off into the air. I think there was a character on Beavis and Butthead that did that. Wasn't there. That would get angry in his shirt.
Sean Clements
I don't remember that. Do you think it was a tribute to Mitch Barnhart?
Drew Franklin
I just think it was. It was the first troubling sign of the Stein there.
Sean Clements
And Bateman's a. Seems like a fun guy. His quotes are good. He talks about playing an aggressive defense. I didn't expect it of him. I thought he'd have like all his buttons down.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, I'd much prefer to have a coach showing a lot of chest hair than the top button.
Ryan Lemond
Especially if you like I said a defensive coach. Buttons all unbuttoned, hair hanging out.
Drew Franklin
That didn't worry me a little bit. I'm not worried about the yoga. I am worried about the button symbolism.
Matt Jones
We're buttoned up on defense.
Drew Franklin
We're buttoned up. And then he said something like, don't blitz too much. That's like salt.
Matt Jones
It'll kill you.
Sean Clements
Whatever makes everything better, but eventually it'll kill you.
Drew Franklin
I understand, but also what's going to kill you. So if you don't unbutton that button.
Ryan Lemond
Choking himself.
Drew Franklin
Go to Andy. Go ahead, Andy.
Caller
Hey, guys, I just wanted to talk about who we should add for the last player on the roster. The three names you mentioned, I would be totally okay with. I think they'd be a good additions offensively. But what concerns me as far as position Depth is the 5 position. I mean, if Marino, God forbid, got hurt or he picked up a couple fouls early in the game, I just don't know that we.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, no, I mean, that's an issue. That's definitely an issue. Who's that?
Caller
Micah Hand. Logdon. Michael Hanlock, that played at Florida. He was her best player before they. That won the championship the. The prior year. Before that. That's the guy that.
Drew Franklin
Well, I mean, I appreciate the call. There are a lot of people that could do it. You got to see if UK is interested and if they're interested, etc, but. But I think some of those dudes, like Kohler, if you had to, could be a back, a small backup center. But no, that's an issue. I mean, if Moreno were to get hurt, we're like playing like little giants out there.
Sean Clements
Or even if he doesn't get hurt, if just Frank isn't as healthy he needs to be. I mean, Malachi can't play 40 minutes.
Drew Franklin
No, there's. There are definitely issues there. Bill, Go ahead, Bill. Bill, turn down your radio and go. All right, turn it. I just put Bill on hold. That hasn't happened as much anymore in the streaming era, but it does still happen. Go ahead, Mark.
Caller
It's going on.
Drew Franklin
Matt, what's up?
Caller
Hey, real quick. It's funny you mentioned that about the button, the top button. I was watching the media day. I don't know if. I guess it was Big 12, maybe like a week or so ago. And I noticed 2D coordinators, they like to show their picks and have it. That top button. I don't know if this is something. It's a.
Drew Franklin
You know, there's a lot. There are a lot. Let me just say that's another trend. And this wasn't so much at UK Although I did see some pictures of wheel stock. There's two. There are a lot of nipples being protruded by coaches nowadays.
Caller
Yeah.
Dudes wearing medium shirts.
Drew Franklin
Have you noticed that? Like, that's like, Brian, you. You pioneered this.
Ryan Lemond
I did. I was the leader out in front of all this.
Drew Franklin
There are people who are just like, I got to make this shirt. As you know, it's going to be like it's cold at all times.
Sean Clements
They're wanting to show off that physique, but it's showing too much.
Drew Franklin
Yes. Go ahead, though, Mark.
Caller
And one more thing. Yeah. And again, not a fan of calling the hogs at all, but our c. H. S cast. Cats. Cats. Is not as whack as it gets.
All photo.
Drew Franklin
It isn't great, I grant you, but I appreciate the call. But, like, we. Maybe we can fix that. It's better than sui.
Sean Clements
Who wants to do that Still?
Drew Franklin
Nobody's told me why you do that. Like, why do hogs. Like, when you call a dog, what do you say you go, come here.
Ryan Lemond
Dog whistle.
Sean Clements
Yeah, get over here.
Drew Franklin
I wonder if animals are everybody. Like, just speak to me normally. Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
Why do we say suey to pigs? We don't say it to class.
Drew Franklin
Why does everybody think you have to
Caller
go,
Drew Franklin
come in two. Kid, can't you just be like, hey, dog, we come over here.
Matt Jones
Dog doesn't respond to that.
Drew Franklin
Like, I mean, I don't look at Drew and go, will you come here? He's a good boy. You're a good boy.
Matt Jones
He kept sit in your lap if you would, though.
Sean Clements
But it's comforting to them. That's how we show them.
Drew Franklin
Bailey is such a good boy. But we do dogs like that. And dogs may be like, look, I'm a grown dog.
Sean Clements
Well, they don't know English, so they can just feel that comforting noise.
Drew Franklin
Summer is winding down, and you might be noticing more than just tan lines on your school. One in five on your skin. One in five Americans will be diagnosed with skin cancer. That's a lot. So if you have a new mole, a mole that's changing color or size or a spot that just won't heal, go get a skin exam. Kentucky skin cancer center has five convenient locations. Where are they?
Ryan Lemond
Powderly.
Drew Franklin
It's the only one we know anymore.
Ryan Lemond
Owensboro.
Drew Franklin
That's two.
Ryan Lemond
Bowling Green.
Caller
Three.
Ryan Lemond
Central City.
Sean Clements
No, no.
Drew Franklin
Glasgow's four. What's five? It's on the border.
Ryan Lemond
Middlesboro.
Drew Franklin
Incorrect. Franklin. Kentucky skin cancer center Dot com. Schedule your appointment. Kentucky skin cancer center. Where you're more than just a patient. Your family. We'll be right back. Matt, Ryan, Drew, and good boy Shannon here on ks.

The definition of what is a movie has kind of changed anyway too, right?
Drew Franklin
What do you think it is now?
Caller
It's images and words being spoken, captured
Drew Franklin
by some sort of technology.
Sean Clements
Danny McBride.
Drew Franklin
Oh, that's fantastic. Can you make it on? You make your own?
Bob Pippman
That's great.
Sean Clements
I call him Tarot Reed. It's a good name.
Matt Jones
They're all named after cast members of American Pie.
Drew Franklin
Oh, got I call.
Sean Clements
I don't. I never looked up if she was
Drew Franklin
in this, but I call him Li Sobieski. Yeah, I don't think she was an
Matt Jones
American Pie, but I still haven't looked it up.
Drew Franklin
Haven't looked it up. She was prominent then.
Sean Clements
Mary Steenbergen.

I'm Nancy Glass, host of the Burden of Guilt Season three podcast. This is a story about a horrendous situation that destroyed two families. It started more than seven years ago when Cindy and Kenny were two 40 somethings who had just gotten engaged. Days later, they walked into a scorched earth war they never saw coming.
Matt Jones
Turn around and place your hands behind your back.
Drew Franklin
The cops came to my house and threw me in jail.
Carrie Brownstein
And to Cindy's surprise, her fiance Kenny was charged with abusing one of her children.
Drew Franklin
I never once doubted Kenny and I always doubted the accusation.
Carrie Brownstein
On season three, A Burden of Guilt, you'll hear a story about the lengths someone will go to in order to get what they want.
Drew Franklin
This case has got to be one of the most despicable.
Carrie Brownstein
Listen to season three, a burden of guilt on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Drew Franklin
This is exactly what Bateman needs to do. Just loosen up his buttons, babe. 859280 and 20 what what he needs to do.
Matt Jones
Well, you throw the babe in there.
Drew Franklin
You know, I don't know him well enough to call him babe. That's all right.
Matt Jones
Yeah, you will.
Drew Franklin
We'll get there.
Caller
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
One person writes on text machine. Text machine. By the way, a little slow today, but some good comments on it. 772-7745254 don't forget about the text machine. It's my way of communicating with you all without having to deal with the garbage of social media. One person writes. Matt, what'd you think about Andy Beshear's comments on Twitter after Fancy Farm? Little out of character. Do you see what he wrote?
Ryan Lemond
Oh yes.
Drew Franklin
Sorry to miss Fancy Farm today, but let me get in on the fun. Rand Paul apparently said I'd been neutered by my legislature Rich. Coming from a guy who's never had a pair of balls, and if he did, they'd be held by Trump.
Ryan Lemond
Wow, that surprised me. Andy Beshear, put that out.
Caller
Wow.
Matt Jones
Sounds like a guy running for president.
Sean Clements
Andy, it's one thing to say it at Fancy Farm, where people know the atmosphere. You just put it on Twitter. So many people will see that, not even understand what Fancy Farm is, and
Matt Jones
it will live forever.
Drew Franklin
So I'm going to go on record. I don't like this. Andy.
Matt Jones
You can't be doing that.
Caller
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
I mean, Andy, you're not the God. Like, you're not that guy.
Sean Clements
You're not that guy, pal.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, you're not that guy, pal.
Ryan Lemond
Drew, hit it. You say you're.
Drew Franklin
You're. If you're going to be elected to something nationally, you're going to be elected because people are like, we just want somebody regular. You aren't the. Stop handing your balls to Trump. That's not you. You know what I mean? Do you think he's ever cussed?
Sean Clements
No. Yeah, he definitely like that.
Matt Jones
This is the real Andy that. The Andy we've been seeing is like that.
Drew Franklin
Either be who you be proud of who you sell as a right guy. Ryan Lemon, like, okay, if. If Andy, if you're like that, then just be like that. But that's not been who you've been. You have been like Vanilla Ice Cream Guy. Don't all of a sudden just come in here like Andrew Dice Clay.
Sean Clements
That's why, if you're gonna do that, go to Fancy Farm, do it there, where that's the spirit. That would be sad on Twitter, but
Drew Franklin
when you put that on Twitter, I just. I read that, and I was like, you're trying to be, like, edgy. You're not edgy.
Matt Jones
Because he thinks people will see that,
Sean Clements
not even understand what he's going for.
Caller
Right?
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Sean Clements
Because roasting is a thing I just didn't really like.
Caller
I.
Drew Franklin
It's just. I just don't think that. I don't think he can win the Democrat nomination. But to the extent he can, he just needs to be himself, right? And if he tries to be edgy guy, I just don't think that's going to work because I don't think that's who he is.
Ryan Lemond
This just seems so out of character for who he is.
Drew Franklin
Like, I don't even say that word. You know what I mean? Like, I re. I said it reading it. But what do I say when we refer to that on the show? I say cojones.
Ryan Lemond
Right?
Drew Franklin
Because I feel weird saying that, because I'm not the guy that walks around going like, I don't. I don't do that, you know? And I.
Sean Clements
You're having a good day.
Drew Franklin
And I feel like it's weird for him to do that.
Sean Clements
It is. How often do you see a city governor challenge someone's.
Drew Franklin
Well, I mean, nowadays, these people. Because, you know, Trump, that's who he is. Because people are like, let me show you what I can do. Like, stop. Don't stop being cool. Nobody. Just.
Sean Clements
I go to the Target commercial.
Caller
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
Just get up there and go. We can't be doing that. Be better.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
That's what we. That's who you are, at least to me. Joey. Go ahead, Joey.
Caller
Yeah. So we've got a dark Pope and now we got dark Andy.
Drew Franklin
That is dark Andy. But like, like. And I just. I don't think there is a dark Andy. Like, you know, at least Mark grew the beard. Can you imagine Andy with a beard?
Sean Clements
He should do it.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, but go ahead.
Caller
Well, anyway, so I've got a couple.
Just a couple things.
The Keyshawn hall kid, he's never made an NCAA tournament in his whole college playing career. So I. I just don't think he's a.
Right.
That's my personal opinion. I hope we don't get that kid,
but that's just me.
But if we get beat by Louisville early, how will the mood be set
Drew Franklin
for the rest of the year? So the Louisville game, I appreciate. It'll depend on what happened in the other games. Right. So like the Louisville game. Appreciate the call is in. When is it? December 12th. So we will have already played Kansas at Virginia at Virginia, Indiana at home. I think the Kansas game is going to be big. I mean, so take Kansas, Indiana, Virginia. Just take that threesome of games. The Kentucky fans are going to want us to go 2 and 1, but that's not a given. None of those games are in rub. Right. Kansas in New York, Indiana's in Indianapolis. Virginia is a true road game. I mean, you can go oh and three in those games. You can go Owen three and not be a bad team.
Ryan Lemond
So then that makes that Louis game.
Drew Franklin
That would make that Louisville game huge. Crazy.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
So my view is we got five so far, power games. Kansas, Indiana, Virginia, Louisville, North Carolina. I think you got to go 3 and 2.
Ryan Lemond
Yes.
Drew Franklin
For this fan base, you got to go 3 and 2. And if you go 4 and 1 now, we're rolling. But I think you got to go three and two.
Sean Clements
Yeah, I got to have a winning record there. Then you can be excited going to the SEC where it starts easy. Louisville and UNC are back to back also with no game in between. So That'll be an important week regardless of what you do in those first three.
Drew Franklin
I will judge the non conference by those games, assuming they don't lose to a terrible team. Go three and two. If you go into conference play and you have two losses, then I'm like, all right, maybe we got something going. You go one and four.
Sean Clements
It'll be ugly around here.
Drew Franklin
It's gonna be ugly, Matt. Go ahead, Matt.
Caller
What's up, guys?
Carrie Brownstein
Hey.
Caller
I just got out of the, out of the pond. Been doing a new meditation style called water meditation, and maybe you could try it with your pool. You just float and just block out everything and calm your mind and your emotions and everything. But anyways, I got a couple things real quick.
Drew Franklin
Oh, you gotta hurry. I've been trying to float.
Caller
Okay, okay, well, okay, I'll do one. I'll do one. Hey, have you ever heard of the great cheese party? The great presidential cheese party, Matt?
Sean Clements
No.
Caller
Okay. Andrew Jackson was gifted a huge block of cheese and it sat in the hall in the interest hall for two years. And it started stinking so bad, he started inviting people from the street to come and get it. And it's evaluated for two years.
Drew Franklin
TJ Smith, personal injury attorney.
Ryan Lemond
Call tj.
Matt Jones
He'll make him pay. Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, just. This is. I don't mean what this. Andy doesn't sing this song.
Matt Jones
He probably does. He's going to be at Chicago.
Drew Franklin
Andy sitting there when he gets home, and he looks in the mirror, mirror and goes, yeah. I just. Like one person writes, matt, it's about time someone on the dim side did something like this. The prudish attitude you have is why we are where we are. I, I'm, I'm not a prude. Okay? We. I literally yesterday went on ESPN radio and on my first day said, I've got as much chance of beating up Chris Canty as Stephen A. Does of being president. And Myron goes, can you wait till after the first day?
Sean Clements
Like you were talking about which ESPN people you could beat up on your first day?
Drew Franklin
First day I said I could take everyone but Rich Eisen, or no, I could. Everyone could beat me up but Rich Eisenhower. I said I could take Rich. Isn't day one. Day one set a tone. So it's not about being prudish. I just say, be who you are, and I just don't think that's who he is. I think a staffer wrote that.
Ryan Lemond
But in this day and age, everyone's to make A hot take.
Sean Clements
Does he.
Ryan Lemond
Was he trying to just make a hot take?
Drew Franklin
He was trying to be cool. Yeah, but do you agree with. I mean, dur. You're. You're. You're the least prudish of this group. Well, Shannon's a whole nother level of those of us that are here. Do you agree or disagree with.
Sean Clements
Yeah, no, it just seemed out of character for him and not the place. Like I said, if that's what Fancy Farm is, it's expected there. But, you know, it's like when you. You'll tweet something relative to the show or UK and it gets another algorithm. People don't know the context and like, what's this? Yeah, there are people that are going to see that on Twitter and think he's just woke up and chose violence that morning.
Drew Franklin
I. I don't know. I would admit here's where I might be slightly prudish. This may seem ridiculous after 12 years of the Trump thing, but I do think the president of the United States should not be, like, throwing f bombs around and, like, maybe I'm the last one left that feels that way, but I still feel like there's, like, a dignity that you should have that we should get back to, and maybe I'll be the last person on earth that feels that way, but I do.
Ryan Lemond
I feel that way and I feel that way.
Drew Franklin
You're older than me. That's what I'm worried about. Like, Like, Mario, do you feel like whoever's president should, like, carry themselves a certain way and not be, like, saying, you got your booze in these booze, you know? Okay, but. But I agree that. I know that that's becoming less fashionable now.
Sean Clements
Well, being presidential, it's like its own term. You know, you're like, dignified used to mean something.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
And now it's like the three stooges. In the things people say, we hold
Ryan Lemond
them to a higher standard.
Drew Franklin
I used to.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
Like, when I was a kid. I don't mean to get off on this, but, like, Reagan, Bush, you know, Clinton was his own thing, but he could still rise to the occasion. He had his stuff. But the other Bush, Obama, and now it's like, you fart face.
Caller
So.
Drew Franklin
But. But like, we. But now everybody's doing it. Like, this is what you do, apparently. And I just. I don't like.
Ryan Lemond
So do we hold our governor to the same high standard?
Drew Franklin
Well, in my world, yes.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, I do.
Drew Franklin
But what about your mayor?
Matt Jones
How far down can we go before you can be some.
Drew Franklin
I like mayors to Have a little bit of space. I like. I mean, I like. I like, you know, like the mayor of Moorhead that used to be. There was two UFC fighters running against each other.
Sean Clements
The mayor should reflect their community.
Drew Franklin
Exactly.
Raiders of the Lost Podcast Host
That's a real.
Sean Clements
That's a good way to put Kentucky mayor.
Caller
Know you.
Sean Clements
You need to.
Drew Franklin
You need to be where you is.
Caller
Right.
Drew Franklin
So. Yes, I'm with you. One person writes. All right, this is the relationship question for Matt and shit. How many dates with a woman before you invite her on an overnight weekend? Great question.
Matt Jones
Overnight weekend. Depends on how well you like her. If you like her, I think let's go in right away.
Drew Franklin
But, you know, overnight weekends, if it ain't the right person, well, you find out that that can be brutal.
Sean Clements
I think you're better off.
Matt Jones
You're better off doing it immed instead of stringing it along. Five, six dates. Dinner gets expensive.
Caller
You're.
Drew Franklin
You're going overnight, like third weekend. No, I mean a trip, not just to your house.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Drew Franklin
When are you going away where you're trapped with this person.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
For an entire weekend.
Matt Jones
I think a month in. You're good. Like, if you're into it for a month, which is probably. What would you say?
Drew Franklin
Depends on how much you see them.
Caller
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Six.
Drew Franklin
I think five to six dates is the magical. I have gone on trips like third date, and it's been a disaster. I had one in particular, just a disaster, and I couldn't wait to get. I found reasons to be somewhere else.
Ryan Lemond
I feel like you almost have to have an overnight date prior to a
Drew Franklin
weekend trip, but it's not the being overnight. It's the not. It's been with them for 48 straight hours.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Sean Clements
What if they just walk in and blow up the hotel bathroom right there and you're just laying on the bed?
Matt Jones
Well, you know their comfort level.
Drew Franklin
So you like five or six dates is fair. When you.
Sean Clements
When you travel, you're. You're stuck together.
Drew Franklin
There's nothing for a few minutes you're in it. Yeah. You got to be careful about that because I think. I think I'm of the belief your first overnight trip, like out of town, makes or breaks a relationship.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
When you're. It's just you and them. Shannon, you decide, is this a person I like or not?
Matt Jones
She has to be comfortable enough with you to want to go on that too. So it also says something about be
Drew Franklin
careful when you ask.
Raiders of the Lost Podcast Host
Yes.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, That's a good point. Andrew. Go ahead, Andrew.
Caller
Two things.
So first of all, I have a. Well I'm married into a family that is Arkansas fans. And I just get a tremendous amount of secondhand embarrassment hearing calling the hogs like there's second hand bear spend. Then there's that.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. On that point, by the way, it's commandant. I said commandant. Commandant. I have heard that phrase before. Have you?
Ryan Lemond
It's at a position in the military.
Drew Franklin
It's who runs a base or something like that. And then. But no one has told me. I don't think. I think the whole you say suey to pigs is made up. By the way. Also, Myron yesterday said that he doesn't think Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points.
Ryan Lemond
There's no video evidence of it.
Sean Clements
I've seen that theory out there.
Drew Franklin
Because he says there's like how could there be no video evidence there.
Sean Clements
There are non believers amongst us.
Drew Franklin
Do you think they just collectively everyone agreed to make up that he scored 100.
Sean Clements
Yeah. Because they expect there should be a ball is life highlight video from it on YouTube.
Ryan Lemond
Okay.
Drew Franklin
Go ahead. Sorry about that. I didn't mean to cut you off.
Caller
No, you get. Second thing I have and I'm really interested to get y' all's kind of take on this. Although I. I do have my own. So thinking about the TBT team. I'd love to hear Yalls either. Starting ideal starting five, ideal roster. I. I certainly have my own. But it's. It's a tough exercise. There's a lot of. A lot of interesting points.
Drew Franklin
There's a variable question which is I don't know how good a shape a lot of these guys are in. And I appreciate the call.
Caller
I did a little research just on who's still playing.
Yamaneika Saunders
Yeah.
Caller
But I didn't.
Drew Franklin
Well, who's yours? Real quick, Give me yours.
Caller
All right. Well, I'll go my starting. I've loved seeing Andrew Harrison. Duron Lamb actually is still playing Archie Goodwin, of course, only because his picture looked terrifying. Kyle Wilcher looks like he could kill somebody.
Drew Franklin
Oh, really? Okay.
Caller
The last picture I saw and then I love seeing Willie this year I also had Josh Harrelson as. He's still playing apparently as a possible center.
Drew Franklin
Josh Harrelson still playing. That really surprises me is he's. He's got to be. What is he like 37, 38.
Caller
He's still playing.
And then.
Drew Franklin
Wow.
Caller
I thought a couple other interesting ones were like Brandon Knight, James Young, Trey Lyles. Guys. We have guys I know are still playing. Just haven't seen cbc. I. I'm just fascinated to see what Swanee will do. I Hope.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. Well, I appreciate the call. I don't know who all is still really good. I feel like I see that Derek Willis is named, like, MVP of his
Sean Clements
league all the time in Serbia.
Drew Franklin
So I feel like maybe Derek Willis would still be good. He feels like a TBT kind of player.
Ryan Lemond
He does.
Drew Franklin
Archie is a definite.
Sean Clements
I would like to see Jacob Topping, because when there's a guy that's more athletic in tbt, it really stands out. And I bet he's still very athletic.
Matt Jones
We're going to say Kyle Welcher. Did you know he's got an entire sleeve on his left side now?
Drew Franklin
Kyle Welcher, a tattoo slip.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
Let me see. Whoa.
Sean Clements
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
Oh, my goodness. Kyle Wilcher does look like a murderer in that picture.
Yamaneika Saunders
What?
Drew Franklin
What happened to baby Face Kyle?
Matt Jones
He turned into a.
Drew Franklin
Where is he? Is he like in Serbia or Croatia? It looks like he's joined one of those gangs over there.
Matt Jones
It doesn't say on here.
Drew Franklin
He's like.
Sean Clements
He was just recently in Italy because he played against.
Drew Franklin
Looks like he's in Eastern Promises, too. Look at that.
Yamaneika Saunders
Wow.
Sean Clements
For my point guard, I would like to get Lamont Butler. I think being young and recently played college carries a lot of weight like that. Andrew Carr, they could use him. They tried to get him. They need to move it back a little bit because the summer league keeps a lot of these guys out. Like Andrew Carr.
Drew Franklin
Is Antonio Reeves under an NBA contract?
Sean Clements
He'd be an easy pick. If he's not.
Drew Franklin
If he's not, he would go for 30 every game.
Ryan Lemond
Get Nate Sistine to come back.
Drew Franklin
I agree. I mean, our mind goes to the old, like, what's BJ Boston do? I bet he's good.
Sean Clements
He's still on an NBA team.
Drew Franklin
Oh, he's on an NBA team.
Sean Clements
Okay. Like saying to Ron. I love to Ron. I would much rather see someone that just played two or three years ago.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
Than guys, what does E.J. montgomery do?
Sean Clements
See, there's one. Let's get him. Trey Lyles. They try to get him. He's just recently overseas. He was in the NBA a year ago.
Drew Franklin
When's the last time you've thought about E.J. montgomery?
Sean Clements
Weekly.
Ryan Lemond
You mentioned Davion Mintz. Him and Kellen Grady. Not that far removed from their plan.
Drew Franklin
I bet Davion Mintz could. I bet he would ball in this.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
Where's he?
Ryan Lemond
No idea.
Sean Clements
Somewhere.
Drew Franklin
If there was a website that covered UK sports, it would be kind of cool just to see where everyone is.
Sean Clements
We could call it. Where are they Now?
Drew Franklin
Well, usually we do it like one guy. It would be neat to just see who all's playing. All right, that's kind of cool.
Sean Clements
Especially now as they're starting to sign. This is signing times internationally.
Drew Franklin
Kevin, Go ahead, Kevin.
Caller
Hey, Matt, have you ever seen a Sports center top 10 play that also made the Friday's not so top 10 list?
Drew Franklin
I've not.
Caller
I think today you may see number eight again come Friday. Houston Astros. Taylor Tramell hit a ball that he was robbed by. Well, it didn't. Wasn't going over, but Blue Jays Miles Straw made a great play and apparently nobody choked Primil. It wasn't a home run because he the play of the outfitter made number eight today, but he rounded the bases like it was a home run.
Drew Franklin
Oh, really? I would like to see that.
Caller
When he got to home plate, he pointed to the heavens.
So you may see Friday.
Drew Franklin
Oh, that's brutal. That's brutal.
Matt Jones
Thank you guys for robbing my horse.
Drew Franklin
I like that one. I appreciate it. I might have to look that one up. That's funny. I'm mad about baseball. The Reds just didn't trade anybody. They traded Nate Lowe for like a pack of gum and then kept Stevenson Singer, who they're not going to resign.
Ryan Lemond
I thought they were for sure going to trade Tyler.
Drew Franklin
Kept waiting all day going, all right, what's good prospect are we going to get the Yankees? The Yankees wanted Stevenson and we didn't trade him.
Sean Clements
So you're just going to let his deal expire and get.
Drew Franklin
I mean, maybe it was because he cried and they were like. And that was sweet, don't get me wrong. But like the smart thing to do is trade him and I like him,
Sean Clements
but y' all had that moment. It was the perfect ending, that home run.
Drew Franklin
The problem was we won those last two games and it made him think, oh, well, maybe there's a chance.
Ryan Lemond
Got a chance to make a wild card.
Drew Franklin
No chance. Kick back with Cornbreads organic social spritz, a functional beverage made with adaptogens and no tropic nootropics for a light lift. Without hemp or alcohol comes four refreshing flavors and a delicious way to relax. And it is cornbread hemp. And we got less than 100 days left to save hemp. Go to cornbread hemp.com/action and learn more before Congress lets hemp go away, which would be really bad for Kentucky. It's cornbread hemp grown for the good life. We'll take a break. Be right back.
Caller
Welcome back.
Drew Franklin
Tanky sports radio. I was about to give the ESPN number I got to get 8. 8, say ESPN 859280. 2287. It's good to see most people on the text machine. Ryan seem to agree with me about the whole decorum thing. You know, some people don't, but, like, for somebody writes, Ronald Reagan would not walk into the Oval Office without a towel. And I don't know that it has to be that strong, but I'd rather it be that than, you know, like, I love to wear a hoodie in shorts.
Ryan Lemond
Yes.
Drew Franklin
But if I think I hate that Fetterman walks around like, you're a senator, man. You give up your hoodie and shorts at that point. I would. If you don't want to give it up, that's fine.
Ryan Lemond
Then don't run.
Drew Franklin
You know? Am I wrong about that?
Sean Clements
Yeah, I'm pro hoodie and shorts. I'm dressed like a slob now. But we do radio. If I were working with the Capitol, I would. I would dress up.
Drew Franklin
I mean, I asked him before I went on espn. I'm like, can I wear my stuff on television? They're like, yes, but if we ever, like, have you on a TV show, maybe not. And I would feel stupid if I walked onto the take set of First Take in a hoodie. But I don't know. I mean, the answer to every question can't be, well, Trump does it. Well, like, if we're always going to just do, well, they did it, then at some point, like, we're just going to all be rolling around in the dirt.
Sean Clements
We're getting closer and closer to the.
Drew Franklin
We are getting closer. And I don't like it. I mean, I don't. I don't like that.
Ryan Lemond
I think we, like we said, we hold these guys to higher standard. How they look, what they say, what they do on social media. And I think. I think our governor probably fits into that.
Drew Franklin
So I just, I'm not trying to blast him. I mean, it was a tweet. Yeah, but I just think, like, I
Ryan Lemond
don't know, if a staffer did it,
Drew Franklin
then you say, hey, man, don't. That's not how. First of all, if I was President Shannon or a governor, like, I. I don't think I could have people tweeting on my bio. You know what I mean?
Matt Jones
Tweet it. Would you. Would you be on there still?
Drew Franklin
Do you think I would still be on there? Because I think you need to be on there to communicate with people. But I would not want people writing as me that were not me.
Matt Jones
Would you be arguing with people on there.
Drew Franklin
You'd have to take me
Matt Jones
because I could see that you arguing like, no,
Drew Franklin
you'd have to take my phone. Like, Shannon, you would be. I probably have Shannon. Shannon would be my body man. If you're, you know, they have the guy that follows you around. And Shannon would be like, give me the phone.
Matt Jones
Yeah, Matt, that's enough screen time. Is it? It's limit for the day.
Sean Clements
He puts in a briefcase with a code.
Drew Franklin
He's like, no, you can't get it. That's what I would need from. From Shannon. Let's go to Matt. Go ahead, Matt.
Caller
Hey, Matt, thanks for taking my call. Hey, I was at a Reds game a couple of weeks ago, and I looked up and you were coming down the aisle. You set, like two seats from me. You probably don't remember it, but I looked over at my wife and I said, hey. I said, hey, there's. It's Matt Jones.
And I.
Drew Franklin
And I didn't.
Caller
I didn't want to cause a big scene.
Drew Franklin
You can say hello. Like, people come up and say hello. I'm fine with it. It's a night. It's nice to. It's nice to meet people in. In that environment. I'm fine with it.
Caller
Well, that.
That's my question, is that, you know, how do you react or, you know, do I know?
I've seen some people.
Yeah, they come running up and they want to take a selfie and all that, but I. I know. I'll tell you how you remember me. I told you, I'm from Glasgow. And here where Judge Pendleton's from.
Drew Franklin
Yes. Well, actually, most people was good. Nice to. Nice to have met you. Appreciate the call. Most people come who from Glasgow. Tell me they know.
Ryan Lemond
No, Judge Gabe.
Drew Franklin
Judge Gabe, he knows everybody. No, I don't mind it at all. Especially at the baseball games. It's kind of a relaxing atmosphere. As long as you like. If I'm you, don't interrupt the book.
Sean Clements
Wait till you see.
Drew Franklin
We are definitely in book season.
Sean Clements
Take multiple books.
Drew Franklin
I'm contemplating going tonight. They're playing the A. Shannon, if there ever was a book game, there's a
Matt Jones
rematch of the, what, 1989?
Drew Franklin
90s World Series. Yeah, Reds A's. Yeah, that's definitely a book game.
Sean Clements
Have you ever caught you on the big screen reading a book?
Drew Franklin
One of the guys that runs the camera for the big screen is a big KSR fan, so he puts me on there quite a bit. I don't think he's ever gotten me with the book. Now he's got a goal. Please don't. I don't want to be on SportsCenter reading a book. Joe. Go ahead, Joe. Reading a book called the Hill. It's a novel. Very good.
Yamaneika Saunders
Okay.
Drew Franklin
Taking it probably with me tonight. Go ahead.
Caller
It sounds like Drew thinks about E.J. montgomery about as much as I occasionally think about Sasha Calleja Jones or Marcus Lee.
Sean Clements
Yeah, I think about him often. What is he doing? Does he think about me?
Caller
You know that. Well that's what you know how that Stuart Smalley and this is old on Saturday Night Live he just steer stare into the mirror and kind of talk. I'd kind of like to hear Drew's Drew's thoughts on E.J. montgomery.
Drew Franklin
Like when he's like what type of
Caller
things are we talking about Appreciate.
Sean Clements
Well my big thing is that's a guy if he had been in the Nil era would have stayed around stayed around longer and I think his career would have worked out much better. Maybe even made his NBA dream.
Drew Franklin
He and Dakari are two of the big examples of that nil era. They stay Jody Meeks.
Sean Clements
His last moment was his best though he had to put back against Florida.
Ryan Lemond
I guess that's my only memory.
Sean Clements
But instead of leaving and not getting drafted and never sniffing the league, he could have come back two more years and made some good money.
Drew Franklin
All right. DraftKings promo code KSR BET5. You can get up to $200 in bonus bets. Let's do it. It is a novel game tonight in Cincinnati Reds and the A's. Who you got? Ryan.
Caller
I'll.
Ryan Lemond
I'll pick the Rays. I mean the Rays are not in the game.
Matt Jones
The Rays.
Ryan Lemond
The Rays.
Drew Franklin
Rays are not in the game.
Ryan Lemond
I'll pick the Reds by and I think you get two chapters in the night.
Drew Franklin
The Reds by two chapters. I like that one.
Sean Clements
Actually I'll go over non runs to be different also over non chapters in a book.
Drew Franklin
I'm going to parlay those things over
Sean Clements
non runs over non chapters.
Drew Franklin
These are long chapters. I have a hard time doing Brady Singer versus JT Gin. Let's go with Brady Singer. Why not? We'll take the Reds. Thank you all very much for listening. Fun day. Join me today this afternoon on ESPN if you're feeling it otherwise. See you in the morning. It's KSR.
Hosts: Matt Jones, Drew Franklin, Ryan Lemond, Sean Clements
Theme: UK Sports, Honoring Players, Mascot Lore, Coaching Styles, Andy Beshear’s Tweet, Fan & Relationship Q&A
The second hour of KSR dives into a passionate discussion on Kentucky’s tradition of honoring past players, quirky sports rituals (with a focus on Arkansas’ "calling the Hogs"), and mascot history. The crew also debates recent social media antics from Governor Andy Beshear, takes listener calls on basketball depth and roster construction, and drifts into lighter segments about coaches’ fashion, relationship etiquette, and where former Wildcats are playing now.
Drew Franklin questions why famous Kentucky athletes like Craig East, Derek Abney, and Max Duffy aren’t honored at Kroger Field:
“Craig East had SEC records for receiving. Derek Abney had NCAA records for punt returns... Max Duffy should be up there. He was the national punter of the year.” (03:53)
The crew laments that some worthy individuals, like Mike Pratt and Melvin Turpin, were only honored posthumously.
Ryan Lemond suggests an annual game to honor past legends and proposes hiring someone to oversee the process:
“I really feel like for basketball and football, one game a year they should dedicate to [honoring someone].” (05:29)
Notable Quote:
“You can’t just wait till these people die. I mean, it was a travesty that they waited till Mike Pratt died to put him in the ring of honor.” – Drew Franklin (04:14)
Memorable Moment:
“Maybe that’s what we do: Baby versus Ryan.” – Matt Jones (06:36)
John Wall’s appearance supporting Coach Calipari (now at Arkansas) is dissected. The consensus: It’s fine so long as Wall refrains from "calling the Hogs" or switching allegiances.
“He is the only one in the crowd not calling the Hogs. And... when they did that viral ‘64 from Kentucky’ he walks out of the frame.” – Drew Franklin (07:32)
The crew is proud Wall kept his Kentucky loyalty intact, reinforcing UK tradition.
“He told a group of students in a chapel service that the team did not attend, that the team had fought like Wildcats, and it then became the nickname.” – Matt Jones (10:19)
Listener question: Should fans be worried UK’s offensive line finds yoga their hardest workout?
The group agrees yoga is tough—and valuable—especially for large athletes.
Fashion roasts: Defensive coordinator Bateman’s tightly buttoned collar prompts comic concern for his health and old-school symbolism.
“It looks like he’s going to strangle himself with that shirt... Like, I don’t think he could fit a finger in order to make room.” – Sean Clements (13:13)
Preference is expressed for laid-back, chest-hair-revealing coaches over buttoned-up ones.
Andy Beshear’s Twitter jab at Rand Paul (referencing "balls" and "being neutered") sparks a serious debate on decorum for politicians.
Matt Jones and Drew Franklin feel it’s off-brand and ill-advised:
“I’m going to go on record. I don’t like this, Andy.” – Drew Franklin (24:08) “If you’re going to be elected [nationally], you’re going to be elected because people want somebody regular. You aren’t the ‘stop handing your balls to Trump’ guy.” – Drew Franklin (24:22)
A philosophical musing follows: Should office holders, from presidents to mayors, be held to a dignified norm? Most of the crew agrees yes, but laments that era might be fading.
Several listeners weigh in via calls and the text machine.
Energetic, informal, with the camaraderie and playful barbs typical of KSR. Plenty of laughs (mascot chants, coaching fashion), but also thoughtful on issues like traditions, standards for public figures, and Kentucky fandom. The show balances sports commentary, local culture, and listener interactions, making it highly engaging for both die-hard and casual fans.
