Some great picks by you all for songs that are sad, that aren't country. Shout out some ones that come on a lot. We had a lot of suggestion. Tears in heaven. Eric Clapton.
Mario
Yeah, that's very.
Matt Jones
That was about his son. I didn't know he felt the sun fell from third floor.
Mario
Yeah. On a balcony.
Matt Jones
Wow. That's awful. I knew his son died, but I didn't know that's how it was. That's gotta be.
Mario
Son was like three years old too.
Matt Jones
Oh, my goodness. That would be awful.
Mario
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Last Kiss, Pearl Jam. That's the. Oh, where, oh, where am I? That one.
Ryan
That's it. Yep.
Matt Jones
Okay. He didn't write that though, right?
Mario
Old 60s or 50s song from the 60s.
Ryan
That's right.
Matt Jones
I. I think one of the. I think he has another really sad one. The we've talked about. Chin in that. Breathe.
Ryan
Oh, just breathe.
Matt Jones
Just breathe.
Ryan
Yeah, yeah.
Matt Jones
Oh, that one. Like, I think that's heartbreaking and beautiful. That's become one of my 10 or 15 favorite songs. I love it. And it is. His version of that, like, on an unplugged, is one of the saddest things I've ever heard. Warren Z. Von, keep me in your heart for a while.
Ryan
That's a good one.
Matt Jones
That's a really good one. He wrote it knowing he was going to die of cancer.
Mario
Oh, wow.
Matt Jones
Yeah. These are sad. Bonnie raped. I can't make you love me. That's brutal. Yeah, she, like, writes a song that goes, I love you, but I know you're not gonna love me.
Mario
But making me sad.
Matt Jones
Somebody has a Selena Gomez song. Oh, lose you to love me.
Caller Jay
I haven't heard that one.
Matt Jones
Huh.
Caller Jay
It's not on my. Selena Gomez.
Matt Jones
Some things I don't know, like wish we were vampires by Jason Isbella. I feel like Jason is a lot of sad songs. He's got that one about. Yeah, well, I can't think of it, but he goes to his dad's Funeral and he finds out his dad was like hooking up with another woman. Wow, it's brutal.
Ryan
Sounds like a Jerry Springer episode.
Matt Jones
The freshman we were.
Ryan
Oh, yeah. Verb pipe.
Caller Jay
Oh, keep going.
Ryan
Here you go.
Matt Jones
Go for it. There you go.
Caller Jay
I cannot remember. All right.
Matt Jones
Well, There you go. 859-280-2287 be. Oh, they are okay. I'm going to a bunch of burden beyond. Just be ready. Ask anything Wednesday. Let's do a couple little things here before I go. The phone, Akron, the Zips. Whoever donates the most to their nil auction will get to call the first series of offense in their first game against Robert Morris. They will get to call the plays.
Mario
Yeah, not just the first play. The whole first drive.
Caller Jay
That's crazy.
Matt Jones
Wildest thing I've ever heard.
Mario
Crazy. I can't believe a coach is going to let that happen. I can see maybe the first play of the game, but the whole drive.
Matt Jones
First series. So I didn't see. Are they going to be on the sidelines or.
Caller Jay
So I didn't see that part.
Ryan
Or you be in the box. Probably depends on, you know.
Matt Jones
Kind of awesome, though. I mean, I cannot believe they're doing it now playing Robert Morris, who apparently stinks. Now, if I'm the Robert Morris coach, I'm like, they are auctioning off the play calls.
Mario
I heard the person who wins is before the game going to sit with the coach and they're going to jointly.
Matt Jones
But what do they do if it's third and one and they've called a hail mare?
Ryan
Well, that's. That's why you won. They're doing the drawing to see who
Matt Jones
has to be a little bit of using.
Caller Jay
I feel like the coaches have to give them a multiple choice here. There's got to be some guardrails.
Mario
If we're three and one, we're going to run this play or this play. Pick one of these two.
Caller Jay
Like, you can't just be like, all right, you have the keys. And they just run three straight hail Marys. Madden or something.
Ryan
And I'm not. I'm with Billy. We're talking about this pre. I'm not going to punt on 4th and 10. I'm on.
Matt Jones
Oh, you're going for.
Mario
Oh, yeah, yeah. There's no pun.
Caller Jay
I'm not getting the fourth down.
Matt Jones
So how much we're scoring. I kind of feel like this is going to be really successful. I think there's going to be some really rich person that just does this and makes it a thing. Like, I think this is. We'll See. But I could see this raising a ton of money.
Mario
Yes.
Matt Jones
Because if you have a ton of money, one of the things about people that are really rich, and we're seeing this with, like, our infinite idiot billionaires in the world. Money can only buy you so much. Can buy you a lot, but it can't buy you experience. Like, you can't pay to be an NBA player. Right. But now you can pay to be a coach. Why wouldn't you? If you were a huge football fan, why wouldn't you do it?
Caller Jay
It's a raffle, though. So you'd still have to win.
Ryan
Let's say. I must have read the story wrong, because I think it's anybody who signs up for season tickets is the way I understood it.
Matt Jones
Oh, well, that's worse.
Caller Jay
So rich. Can't see.
Matt Jones
I think that that's not what I would have done if I were them. I mean, maybe I would have done both. Because I think you could buy as many. I think you could if it was a auction. I think they could raise an obscene amount of money.
Ryan
Big Cat has already bought season tickets just for the chance to be the guy who calls the play.
Matt Jones
Well, now you're going to have a stadium full of empty tickets, though, because I think a lot of people are going to do this.
Ryan
We could do it if we wanted to.
Matt Jones
If it's really much of the season tickets.
Ryan
$75.
Matt Jones
That's for the whole season.
Ryan
So
Caller Jay
a couple seats I want to call.
Matt Jones
Let's do it.
Ryan
I think that's.
Bob (Caller)
If it's.
Matt Jones
Oh, it can't just be $75.
Ryan
Blame Billy, because Billy told me it was $75 for the season.
Matt Jones
It can't just be. If it's $75, then we should all buy us all, and we'll see who wins.
Ryan
Yeah.
Mario
If it was a bidding process, why wouldn't somebody from Robert Morris try to win it?
Matt Jones
That's an interesting question. And just throw it in and just
Mario
throw bombs and like, everybody lined up deep.
Caller Jay
I'm not seeing $75. It's kids.
Matt Jones
Gotta be.
Caller Jay
Yeah. Actually, here's some. For 75.
Mario
Season ticket.
Caller Jay
You go on the visitor side.
Matt Jones
Well, they're gonna sell out the stadium, and no one's ever gonna go to the games.
Caller Jay
That's gonna be the most watched drive in all the whole season.
Matt Jones
You kind of agree with me. This is kind of brilliant.
Caller Jay
Oh, it's amazing. I'm jealous. I would love to call the first series for my team, but as a
Mario
fan, I don't want you calling my first series for Kentucky. But if you play one place.
Matt Jones
But if you're Akron.
Mario
Yes.
Matt Jones
And like who cares?
Caller Jay
What if. What if you just get stuff three and out. Do fans boo them?
Matt Jones
Oh, they.
Grainger Advertiser
You boo.
Ryan
You boo.
Matt Jones
Okay, go back to your seat.
Mario
What if it's an 80 year old grandma?
Ryan
Look on the flip side of that. I mean what if you end up
Matt Jones
scoring and then like you get a job? No, I'm not giving the.
Caller Jay
I'm not giving the keys back. If we take.
Matt Jones
So are they going to let the person that calls stand on the field and like hold the card?
Caller Jay
I think you have to. They need to look in the players.
Matt Jones
This is awesome. I am watching. You said that. Pardon? My take is talked about it. We're talking about it. I'm going to get. It's already. I just got the rundown for the SPN show. It's on that.
Mario
Yes.
Matt Jones
Like everybody. I mean this is a brilliant gimmick by them.
Mario
Yeah. When else are you going to talk about Akron football?
Ryan
Watching the first drive to see what happens. Right.
Matt Jones
Akron Robert Morris is going to have the biggest rise and drop in ratings in the history of college football.
Ryan
And DraftKings has to know about this too. Right. In case the overrun.
Matt Jones
You got to put an odds on will they score first drive.
Caller Jay
Are you all being aggressive? See, I'm handing it off. Let my nerves settle.
Matt Jones
Well, no, I'm not giving away my secrets in case I win. What if Robert Morris.
Caller Jay
I mean, are you going to be like the three Hail Mary type? Are you going to take it?
Matt Jones
I'm going to do three Hail Mary. No, I'm trying to score. I'm going to take it serious. I'm going to have to read. I'm going to come to practice, see my offense coming out with the. See what the strengths and weaknesses of my team are.
Caller Jay
See they're going to be thinking big explosive play right away. I'm just going to go a little handoff, settle the nerves.
Matt Jones
Anyone think it's a bad idea?
Mario
No, I love it. I would not want Kentucky to do it.
Matt Jones
I want Kentucky to do this. But for Akron. Brilliant.
Mario
Yes.
Ryan
Think about this too. Some of these drives can go for nearly an entire quarter. So what if you just did run the ball?
Matt Jones
Oh, you're going to. So you're going to milk and I'm
Ryan
basically the offensive coordinator for a quarter of the game.
Caller Jay
Oh, I'm burning all the timeouts.
Matt Jones
I'm getting.
Caller Jay
I'm getting set up. We're going to look good. I need my timeouts to get Them all huddled up.
Matt Jones
Dude, I love it. I love it. And if it's $75, then I'm buying. Why not?
Mario
What if they draw your name?
Matt Jones
Best day of that.
Mario
Be so much fun.
Matt Jones
How much fun?
Mario
We're all going to be up there.
Matt Jones
Ms. Wilson's first game to be the Akron offensive coordinator.
Caller Jay
People would understand.
Matt Jones
I mean, you would understand, would you?
Caller Jay
Could be the beginning of a career.
Matt Jones
Unbelievable. Bob, go ahead, Bob.
Bob (Caller)
Good morning.
Matt Jones
Good morning.
Bob (Caller)
Too many subjects here. Willie Nelson turned 93 and I'm looking at 93 very shortly.
Matt Jones
How many albums have you put out?
Bob (Caller)
Not quite as many as Willie, but I'm using a chair now when I get up there.
Matt Jones
Well, good.
Bob (Caller)
And remember Cowboy George from Fern Creek? He was the lead in band for Willie Nelson when he came to Louisville.
Matt Jones
No one, I mean none of us on this show remember that. A guy named Cowboy George?
Bob (Caller)
No, one of the. One of the old songs talk about. There was a song Come Home Son at Suppertime. And it goes way back before Ricky Van Shelton. And that's to me is a tearjerker and one I'd like for you to hear if he could find.
Matt Jones
Well, I appreciate the call. I'm probably the only person on this show that even knows. I appreciate the call. Bob, who Ricky Van Shelton is.
Mario
He's Kentucky guy.
Matt Jones
Mario, you big cowboy George guy. Was Ricky Van Shelton Kentucky?
Mario
I thought he was. He might be on that country music highway.
Matt Jones
Yeah, you may be right. I don't know, Brad. Go ahead, Brad. Are you thinking about Ricky Skaggs?
Bob (Caller)
Hey.
Matt Jones
Hey, fellas.
Caller Hilton
Got a couple things.
Matt Jones
I know his brain. Hang on a second, Brad. I know his brain. He hears Ricky.
Mario
Yep.
Matt Jones
He could be thinking of the guy on silver spoons. He could be thinking of the golfer Fowler.
Mario
I knew there's a Ricky on the country music highway.
Matt Jones
That's right. Yeah. Okay, go ahead, Brad.
Caller Hilton
So I was thinking about Kroger Field. You know, they did that nice update about 10 or 11 years ago and they've got that good looking silver on it. But then you've got that ugly cream concrete.
Bob (Caller)
Why don't they paint that silver to match the rest of the stadium?
Matt Jones
That's a good call. I think it's very rare. I appreciate the call that just concrete in a football stadium looks good. They probably should paint it. I think that's a good call. I'm not an interior designer, but I do think. I can't think of any stadium where just bare concrete looks good.
Caller Jay
And even if you leave it as is, needs a good power wash for going into Next year, clean it off. Places looking a little dated. It's getting ready for the new era.
Matt Jones
There's some. I got a breaking news alert.
Caller Jay
Okay.
Matt Jones
Running on multiple bats that have been tested in Nott county have been found to have rabies.
Mario
Goodness. Stay out of not county.
Ryan
You're supposed to evacuate.
Matt Jones
They live there.
Mario
I'm leaving.
Matt Jones
Okay. So a lot of parts of this story. Are there a lot of bats in Knott County?
Mario
There's probably more bats than we realize, clearly.
Matt Jones
And they've tested multiple ones. So they're worried about it.
Mario
Yes.
Matt Jones
People don't just go around testing bats for rabies. Something has made the people of Nott county test their bats for rabies.
Caller Jay
They foaming at the mouth, flying around. They bite.
Mario
Somebody had to bit some animals, maybe some family pets or.
Matt Jones
So that means someone got bit by a bat. Would you be worried if you lived in not county?
Caller Jay
Would you be like, if I got bit by a bat, I'd be very worried. Would you?
Matt Jones
But if you were in Knott county, would you be like, all right, watch out.
Caller Jay
And not going out after dark. Aren't they in the dark?
Mario
Yes.
Matt Jones
I feel like that's one of those things, though, that you wouldn't be scared of until they sent the alert. Like, it's never occurred to me to be worried about being bit by bat.
Ryan
Send up the bat signal.
Matt Jones
That crossed my mind one time in your life.
Caller Jay
Thought, oh, man, I gotta look out,
Matt Jones
be a bat around here. But now, wouldn't want to take my trash out. Yeah. If I'm in Knott County, I'm going to be like, kids, get inside.
Mario
We're going to grandma.
Matt Jones
Are there a lot of bats in not county?
Caller Jay
You got caves. Bats hang out in caves in not county.
Matt Jones
How do you know? You all saying all this.
Caller Hilton
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Like you've been there.
Caller Jay
Think of all the terrain around there. There's got to be some caves.
Ryan
I don't think they've taken a census on bats and not county.
Matt Jones
All right, well, if someone in not county can tell me why this was a breaking news alert about the bats having rabies.
Bob (Caller)
Yeah.
Ryan
What can you do about it?
Matt Jones
And this was a Louisville news alert. Are they thinking that they're going to
Ryan
try a lot of bats in Louisville?
Matt Jones
Well, but apparently so. If you know in Knott County, I would be interested in why I may have gotten that.
Caller Jay
Windows closed.
Matt Jones

Ryan
Well, I could always.
Matt Jones
It's like that on ESPN now, too. We used to be able to. They used to put songs on the podcast. Now they can.
Mario
No music on the podcast.
Matt Jones
Same thing. Yeah, not just I heart. Whole world stupid music companies won their money.

Ryan
Never. We're never going to get there.
Matt Jones
Oh, we'll get there one day.
Mario
What are we on Carlisle County?
Matt Jones
It might be 2027. Yeah, but we'll get. No, I mean, like, it's going to take a while.
Ryan
Yeah. Define a wild couple of decades.
Caller Jay
The football season started.
Matt Jones
My contract ends in 2029. We'll have it done by then.
Ryan
So, you know, once we get into football season and basketball season, we're not going to stop.
Matt Jones
I already know we're going to do it on the days like, you know, like Wednesday or something. Like, we'll do it on a day midweek, but yeah, it's going to take a while, I grant you.
Ryan
Yeah, we'll hold you.
Caller Jay
We'll get there.
Matt Jones
But we'll get there. When we do, we'll feel a sense of accomplishment.
Ryan
Stop right at Spencer county again.
Matt Jones
We're going to stop at Spencer county again.

I think we should start doing a podcast for Sopranos Rewatch.
Matt Jones
Apparently you're right. Tons of bats in Not County.
Mario
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Which I didn't know one person writes for Ask Anything Wednesday. Matt, do you think if you put fast food burgers in front of you all, you could tell what the burger was, what restaurant? Just by taste? Blind taste test. So do you think if we put a McDonald's burger, a Wendy's burger, Burger King, do you think you'd be able to close your eyes and say which one is which?
Mario
I'm going to say yes.
Matt Jones
You think you could?
Mario
Those three.
Matt Jones
What if we threw in five guys?
Mario
Probably not.
Matt Jones
I've got to be a lot thicker than the other. I Feel like that one would be easier. Sonic Dairy Queen.
Mario
Start getting close. Maybe Sonic. Because they do kind of still do the smash burger type thing, don't they?
Bob (Caller)
So you.
Matt Jones
So you're saying if we did like a handful of restaurants, burger king, Wendy's,
Mario
McDonald's, you think you could get those? Get those.
Matt Jones
I think I could definitely pick a McDonald's one if it's just your regular burger because they have like a kind of unique. I don't particularly like it, but I think I could. I feel like I could know a Wendy's one. I haven't had a Burger King burger in a long time, so I don't know.
Mario
Frame, flame broiled.
Caller Jay
I could spot the McDonald's confidently. I don't really burgers anywhere else. And if you got into deep cuts where it's Culver's and A and W and everything else, I wouldn't. I wouldn't be able play.
Matt Jones
What about chicken sandwiches? That's harder. And you. I think I could get a Chick
Caller Jay
Fil A. I could spot Chick Fil a.
Matt Jones
But like McDonald's, Wendy's. Again, I don't eat a Burger King. I think that would be tough. They're similar.
Mario
Yeah.
Matt Jones
You know.
Caller Jay
No, I couldn't do that one either.
Matt Jones
Yeah. It's interesting though because we all decide we like certain food, but could you really pick it out of a.
Ryan
Now fries are different.
Matt Jones
I agree. I think it'd be pretty good. I think I Definitely could get McDonald's. Definitely could get Wendy's.
Ryan
Rallies would be a dead giveaway.
Matt Jones
Rallies, easy.
Caller Jay
Chick Fil A. Rb.
Matt Jones
You're right. Fries. Give me anybody. Yeah, I'll take. I'll tell you what, you let me taste a couple, I can close my eyes and get them all.
Bob (Caller)
Yeah.
Matt Jones
The only ones I couldn't do is like Burger King because I haven't had it.
Caller Jay
Like Burger King, Sonic, Dairy Queen. Those would be similar.
Matt Jones
Sonic Dairy Queen. Yeah. Just get the blizzard times though.
Ryan
I'm going to pick the place based on the fries, not the burger because I feel like the burgers are all kind of the same.
Matt Jones
All right, so top three fast food fries Rallies is number one.
Ryan
Yep. I agree with that.
Matt Jones
You think rallies still exist if not for their fries?
Caller Jay
You got a good chicken sandwich too.
Matt Jones
Rallies, you know, it's. It is good. I don't go there very much.
Caller Jay
And they're one of the places where you're like, I have a medium drink and the medium is 100.
Matt Jones
What's better?
Caller Jay
Ounces?
Matt Jones
Yeah. Wendy's or McDonald's.
Caller Jay
Oh, McDonald's McDonald's.
Ryan
It's all that salt.
Matt Jones
A lot of salt.
Ryan
Yeah.
Caller Jay
Well, it's good for you.
Matt Jones
Jay Bateman would be like, get that out of here.
Mario
See, I like the Arby's curly fries.
Ryan
Yeah, they're second for me. Number two.
Matt Jones
They're good and unique. Nobody else really does that. Forget about the curl. Just that flavor.
Mario
Yes. Yeah, Yeah. I like those blue gr.
Matt Jones
Go ahead. Bluegrass.
Caller Hilton
Hey, what's going on, fellas? Hey, I need to give you some flowers. I need to give some flowers to my man, Stephen Pink. What a great job he did on my hometown here of Wayland and Kelly Coleman. Man, that was just. It was done so well. I'd like to just give him some flowers. Have you all watched it yet?
Matt Jones
I've seen it, yes. He did a. He did a video about where King. Kelly Coleman played Whalen, where we've been before, and it was very well done. He. When he puts his stuff to making a video, he does a great job. And that's another one, man.
Caller Hilton
He did excellent job. How about you fellas? You all thinking about coming up here and doing a live broadcast maybe from the hall of Fame up here? Well, inside the gym, maybe
Matt Jones
we had not bluegrass, but I appreciate the offer. Maybe one day. You never know.
Caller Hilton
And one thing, Drew, I'm going to agree with you, too. I'm not sold on. It's a pretty good lineup that we have so far. But have you looked at other lineups? Like, there's some super teams out there, and this team is well short a super team. Now, I do think Mark Mitchell makes a big, big difference. But, like, look at the lineups. Look at.
Matt Jones
I agree with you. I. I appreciate the call. We're not. I don't think we're top 10 right now. Mark Mitchell would put us in the top 10, though. Do you agree with that?
Bob (Caller)
Yeah.
Caller Jay
And I don't think we're going to be bad by any means. We'll be good. We'll be fine. But I'm tired of just being fine. I want to get back to being elite, and I don't think they're there yet.
Matt Jones
Free Bird.
Bob (Caller)
Hey, guys. Don't you. Great show, by the way. Don't you all have a caller that calls in from not County?
Matt Jones
We do that. The guy that does the meditation, he's from not County. I feel like if anybody was gonna know about bats, it would be him.
Caller Jay
Skunks. He's probably right now.
Bob (Caller)
Oh, yeah. My question is, with all this talk about this court and everything, fifth year, has anybody ever Thought about going back to the old school. You got five years to play for.
Matt Jones
Yeah, that's not happening.
Bob (Caller)
When I was in college, and it's what Shannon had.
Matt Jones
Yeah, but when you were in college, you weren't getting paid. I mean, the rules now.
Bob (Caller)
Well, it's all about money.
Matt Jones
The rules now are five for five. And the reason they're doing that is, you know, when it was five for four, they were giving exceptions. When people tore an ACL and then it was okay. Well, if you tore it, if you missed the whole year and then it became. Well, if you missed three games and then five games and then six games, and the NCAA was not being consistent. And so the, The.
Mangesha Teagar
The.
Matt Jones
The decision was made, and I think it was a good one. Rather than have these caveats and exceptions which can be applied inconsistently. Five for five. If you get hurt, well, you got four more years, so that's okay. That's kind of what they're doing.
Bob (Caller)
Well, makes sense. It's just. It's.
Caller Jay
And it's.
Bob (Caller)
It's like it all comes down to money, man.
Matt Jones
But it's no exceptions. It's no. Except. Because what was happening, I appreciate the call, was people were suing, saying, you let him play and you didn't let me play. So now they're doing five for five, no exceptions, except for military service and a religious mission trip. That's it. And I think that at least they'll be consistent.
Mario
You got to do it that way.
Matt Jones
So I think that. I actually think it was one of the good decisions the NCAA has made. We'll take a break. Be right back. T.J. smith, personal injury attorney.
Mario
Call T.J. he'll make him pay.
Ryan
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Matt Jones
This is Ricky Van Shelton.
Ryan
Yep, I know this one.
Matt Jones
Not from Kentucky, from Mississippi. One person writes in. By the way, Matt, you play a lot of the music you guys like. How about giving Mario the ox cord one day? All right, good idea, Mario. Tomorrow, tonight, you're going to send Shannon six songs, and you get to play the playlist for tomorrow. Is that a bet? Is that what you said?
Mario
It's a bet.
Ryan
Bet.
Matt Jones
Bet.
Ryan
Bet.
Mario
No cap.
Matt Jones
Bet. No cap.
Caller Jay
Don't do anything mid.
Matt Jones
Yeah, don't be dad.
Caller Jay
Don't be sus if you're sus.
Matt Jones
And then I'm not gonna bet.
Caller Jay
But you can't come in here and mog us either.
Mario
Low key. You gotta get some good songs.
Matt Jones
Yeah, yeah.
Ryan
Don't spam us.
Matt Jones
Are you got this, Mario? On The Ox tomorrow. Kentucky weather versus your roof. If you're a KSR listener, you know Kentucky loves talking about the weather. Sometimes it feels like we spend a lot of time getting ready for it. But with Kentucky weather, one thing's right. One thing is for certain, you never know.
Caller Hilton
Roof.
Matt Jones
Whether it's wind, hail, heavy rain, ice, snow or temperature swings, your roof takes a beating in Kentucky. That's why CRC roofing provides honest inspections and clear recommendations. CRC roofing. KSR listeners get a free roof inspection at CRC roofing.com or crccompany.com ksr just remember,/ksr free inspection and up to a thousand dollars on a new roof from CRC Roofing. Yeah, I have to, you know, you don't look at things until you like have a house and you're like, oh, look at that roof. What do I need to do with the roof?
Caller Jay
To get your filters figured out yet where you can change those.
Matt Jones
Yeah, we haven't got to that.
Ryan
You better get to it. You don't want a dirty.
Mario
That's what hubby's for.
Ryan
We don't have an AC because you didn't change your filter.
Matt Jones
I got.
Ryan
Sorry.
Matt Jones
Filters. They're going to get, they're going to get, they're going to get filtered. It's one of things, you know, I'd hate to say that you worry about me and my filter.
Ryan
When I come over to your housewarming party, I'm going to bring you a filter. That's going to be my housewarming.
Billy (Groom)
Yeah.
Ryan
Change your filter.
Matt Jones
We're going to change. Okay.
Ryan
Yeah, yeah, you should do.
Matt Jones
That's a good house where you can bring me a filter.
Caller Hilton
I will.
Ryan
I just need to know your size. So you.
Matt Jones
Okay, well, I know the size. There's a lot of size.
Mario
What would they be? What would your size be?
Billy (Groom)
Close.
Matt Jones
I have a good one.
Bob (Caller)
What would.
Matt Jones
It's the right size, but what would it be? Approximately, you know, good size.
Mario
Yeah.
Ryan
Well, there's three numbers on each.
Matt Jones
Good size. The best size.
Mario
Yeah, there's three numbers.
Matt Jones
By the way, I, somebody asked earlier who, who are the people, the public figures they heard me talking about Aaron Rodgers a couple days ago that everyone on the show likes the least. I mean, for me, Aaron Rodgers, Donald Trump, probably the top two. I will say Donald Trump is entertaining in his stupidity. Did you hear what he said yesterday? Like sometimes he just says stuff and I'm like, you have to laugh just because it's so ridiculous about LeBron. He said he'd be, he would be the best WNBA coach of all time.
Ryan
We'll never know.
Matt Jones
Like, he just says things like that, though. Like, I.
Caller Jay
We can't say he's wrong.
Matt Jones
I mean, I can.
Ryan
You never seen him coach.
Matt Jones
I will say he's wrong. I mean, but, like, that'd be like me. I'd be the best F1 driver of all time.
Ryan
You could say that.
Matt Jones
I could.
Ryan
Yeah. You just did.
Matt Jones
True.
Caller Jay
You have your right to say it, though.
Ryan
Yeah.
Matt Jones
I'm not saying put him in jail for saying. I'm just saying it's objectively the dumbest thing.
Caller Jay
I'd like to see him try.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I don't think it would go well. I don't think that league and the culture of that league. And Akron.
Ryan
Akron should let him do the first drive. They should let him call the first drive.
Matt Jones
Here's a good question about the Akron thing. What if you score and then when the real offensive coordinator comes in, they can't. Oh, my.
Ryan
They fire them. They fire them.
Matt Jones
And that's a lot of pressure on the real offensive.
Ryan
It really is. Yeah.
Matt Jones
If it's.
Mario
If it's a success. Success. You should do it every home game this season.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Well, I would if I were them. It's clearly working. Alan, go ahead. 13 million views on that tweet about it.
Mario
Unbelievable.
Matt Jones
Alan, go ahead.
Caller Hilton
Matt, a couple of things. I grew up in your neck of the woods. Don't ask you. Have you heard Leatherwood, Kentucky? No, it's in Partly. And Prairie, Leslie and Harlan. Anyway, wait a minute, wait a minute.
Matt Jones
I was on the. Hang on a second. You have a town that's in three different counties?
Caller Hilton
Yes, well, most. That was in Prairie. Okay. But it was a big coal company company camp.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Caller Hilton
And. And anyway, we had a Leatherwood High school back in 1960. I played on the district champion. That. That was the only thing we ever won. In 1960, we won the 54th district championship.
Matt Jones
Oh, that's good. Okay. Leatherwood High School. It's the first time I've ever heard of that, too.
Caller Hilton
Okay. It consolidated now Prairie County Central, and it took a bunch of schools in. Okay.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Caller Hilton
And it's now pretty County Central.
Matt Jones
Anyway, here's how I know you're from Perry County. It's that you say Perry. Yeah, I like that you say Prairie County. That's how I know that you're not a fake. You're like Prairie county. But go ahead.
Caller Hilton
Well, the rest when. When they close it down and it's gone back to the Daniel Boone Forest now. Okay. And they're going they're trying to make, make a. Well, they've got an off road park, it's supposed to be the biggest in Kentucky and they're going to supposedly take for the gym was and put a motel in there. But anyway, the thing I was going to tell you when my dad left there, he moved to Middlesborough, Kentucky.
Matt Jones
Well, smart man. So okay, what's your dad's name?
Caller Hilton
Yeah, Earl Hilton. That's a long time ago.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Caller Hilton
Remember I graduated 1960. Yeah, yeah. But anyway, I went to UK on a scholarship from. Dude. I'm a co company graduated from university of Kentucky. I now live in Glasgow. I'm retired, I'm 84 years old. But I just thought it was something.
Matt Jones
Thank you for calling. I appreciate it. I did not know and I appreciate the call, sir. I did not know about Leatherwood, Kentucky. There are a lot of places in the mountains I've noticed recently that claim to have the biggest off road thing in the nation. We have like seven of those Kentucky and I don't know how many people are going off roading but like everybody's always like they're bringing an off road road to and then whatever county. So I don't know. I'm sure there are people that are doing it but like I've never, I don't know because I hear that a lot from a lot of place.
Caller Jay
It's a big part of our state's economy now. You're right about Perry and Perry though. Perry they say purry. I have a few friends from there. Really, really emphasize the purr.
Matt Jones
Yeah, it was a guy I went to law school with. His name was Chris Perry and I would call him Perry and he didn't like it which would just make me just do it even more.
Mario
Tubby always called Perry Stevenson Perry Perry Stevenson.
Matt Jones
Oh, did he? Yeah, in Gerald. Gerald, Eric and Gerald.
Mario
Yeah.
Caller Jay
And, and how did Tubby laugh.
Matt Jones
Like he's here with us. Chris. Go ahead, Chris.
Caller Hilton
Hey guys. I was having a debate with one of my friends who's a, a Duke fan and we're talking about who has a bigger fan base and he's been talking about how, you know, Duke has more followers on Instagram and a bigger brand. I brought up the fact that it's probably this number is probably in the seven figures of, you know, just hillbillies who, you know, don't have social media. You don't see that often. Kentucky's fan base.
Matt Jones
Kentucky's fan. So is it bigger? I think Duke has a ton of what, of what I would say are casual fans. Duke has a lot of people who maybe aren't even really college basketball fans, but when the sport comes in March, for whatever reason, they have chosen Duke, and that goes back many, many years to the 90s and even the 8 80s. So is Duke's fan base bigger? Maybe, but it's. I think they're very casual. I don't. I don't think when you're. So when I say biggest college basketball fan base, I mean, probably the biggest college basketball fan base is like, Texas. But they don't care. So I don't think that really counts. The question is amongst people that care. And if you're talking people that care, Kentucky is first and North Carolina is second. And then there's a conversation about Kansas and Indiana and all that. But Duke's is probably mathematically larger. But I think most of them are like. Like the way people are Yankees fans and Lakers fans. Like, they're kind of fans, but they're not really fans.
Caller Hilton
Right. We have the most die hards.
Matt Jones
Without question, without quite. I mean, nobody. I appreciate the call, the success of this show and just. I mean, if it wasn't for the fact that Kentucky basketball was huge, you think they'd have my ass on espn? I mean, stop it. Like, you know, you, you. We have 3,000 Twitter followers on that account in two days. No, like, that's because of Kentucky basketball fans. But Duke does have a lot of people. It's like, again, the people that cheer for the Yankees and the Lakers and Inter Miami when. When Messi got there, like, that's what Duke.
Caller Jay
Yeah, they're college basketball's bandwagon team.
Matt Jones
Like, without question.
Caller Jay
We all grew up with someone who just randomly started liking the Patriots and they're from Western Kentucky. There's people all over that picked Duke as their bandwagon.
Matt Jones
College basketball picked up some of those people in the early Cal years. There's a generation of kids about Mario's age who just picked up Kentucky because of John Wall and Anthony Davis. And there. And I meet those kids somewhere, I'll say, what's your connection to Kentucky? And they'll go, I just started cheering for him here. So we have, we have some of that, too. They have like 25 years of that. And there's a cultural. There's a social, cultural part of that, which were. There were many years. And people may not like this, but this is a fact. There are many years where Duke was kind of the white team in college basketball for a long time in the same way that the Celtics were in the 80s in the NBA. And a lot of people picked them during that time with. Because of Leitner, you know, Reddick, Hurley. Just name the dudes over there. Shire, Cherokee, Parks, Grayson, Allen. Just make your list. So that's. But. But we are the most passionate fan base.
Mario
I was surprised he said. I didn't realize they had more followers on their Instagram account than Kentucky. I thought Kentucky would buy.
Matt Jones
Well, we built up our Twitter account. We. I think we have the most on Twitter. If we don't, it's close. But other schools were quicker on Instagram and tick tock, etc. A lot of that's just. Did you get on there or not?
Mario
Yeah, right.
Matt Jones
Like ksr, we were very slow drew to Facebook and took us a long time to catch up to other sites because we just didn't get on it early. Whereas on Twitter I probably have more followers than every college sports local account in the country because I was on it early. So it just depends on when you did it. Tell me about Stockton.
Mario
You know, I'm glad you asked because I had the script open and ready for you to ask me. School shopping isn't the only thing worth planning for this August. Matt Jones
Thank you very much. We'll be right back. KSR so this is the original?
Ryan
Yep.
Matt Jones
Who is this?
Ryan
Frank Wilson from the J. Frank Wilson. Yeah.
Matt Jones
There was a school right next to Millsboro. J. Frank White. But this is J. Frank Wilson.
Bob (Caller)
Yeah.
Ryan
Maybe he should have his own school.
Matt Jones
Maybe.
Ryan
Yeah.
Matt Jones
This is a very popular song. Hey bbn Summer means staying active. If pain slowing you down, it's time to call the pros at court. Physical therapy sports injuries to aches Court will help you get back and moving all season long. Don't sit this summer out. We visit court.com that's kt.com to find a location near you and start your comeback today. Court.com by the way, Billy came to my house this day. Thank you for helping me.
Billy (Groom)
Yeah, of course.
Matt Jones
If anyone out there, this is my request, send me a message after the show on the text machine if any of you. And don't. Not just like, if you know how to do it, but, like, if your job. If you are in a job where you can fix, like, fountains.
Caller Jay
Very specific.
Matt Jones
Yeah, well, I know it is, but, like, something like that. If you don't know who to get, like, who do you get? Everybody I ask. They're like, we don't do that. So who does it? Because I either I would like to get it fixed. It's there, but, like, the water, I don't know how to clean it. It's just. I don't know.
Caller Jay
You want it to be a fountain, not a dream.
Matt Jones
I want it to be a fountain. That's exactly right. And sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, and I can't figure out why. So if someone out there knows fountains and can help and, like, actually knows it, not just like, I got a buddy who wants. Like, just send me a message and I will. I will pay you. You don't have to do it for free.
Billy (Groom)
You have to ask Bush Hampton who his guy is.
Matt Jones
He said he didn't know either. He was like, sometimes it works, sometimes it does. I was like, there has to be a way. It can't just be like, sometimes it works, sometimes it does. All right, I have you on here, Billy, because you're getting married on Saturday and you're taking off. This is your last day.
Billy (Groom)
Correct.
Matt Jones
Are you nervous?
Billy (Groom)
Extremely. Today I've been more excited than nervous. Maybe I was more nervous and excited the last couple days. You know, with family reaching out, there's a lot of moving parts. But, no, this is going to be a great day. Like 220.
Caller Hilton
Whoa.
Caller Jay
It's a big wedding.
Matt Jones
Big wedding. We're coming. We hired a driver, Paul the driver,
Billy (Groom)
who got an invite to the wedding. So he made it in?
Matt Jones
No, you made him my plus one.
Billy (Groom)
Well, we. He plate was already paid for, so we needed a person to step up. Ryan has an important job at the wedding.
Mario
They don't know this, I don't think.
Billy (Groom)
They don't know. Oh.
Caller Jay
Ryan has a task.
Billy (Groom)
He's going to be given the. The dinner prayer before we eat.
Ryan
Stop it. What?
Mario
Yeah.
Matt Jones
You're giving the dinner prayer?
Caller Jay
Yes.
Matt Jones
I've never heard you pray.
Mario
Well, you'll get to hear it on Saturday.
Ryan
Did you audition for Billy?
Matt Jones
When's the last time you did a public prayer?
Mario
I don't think I've ever done a public prayer.
Bob (Caller)
So you're.
Mario
I did one on the radio show the night of the tornado went through Mayfield.
Matt Jones
You did actually when we were in like Minnesota or Illinois. Yeah, you did do that. That was actually very moving. You know what? I was about to make fun of your pick, but I remember that.
Mario
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And it was actually beautiful. So you know what? I'll say.
Bob (Caller)
Good pick.
Matt Jones
Why did you pick him?
Billy (Groom)
Not my pick. Marissa's pick, actually.
Matt Jones
Oh, Marissa picked you.
Caller Jay
So they don't know the stories from my wedding. Because the guy. My wedding couldn't have prayed.
Matt Jones
Make him let him pray early in the ceremony. Yeah, early. Okay. So what's the weather supposed to be like?
Ryan
Rain.
Caller Jay
Oh, yeah.
Mario
It's still like over 50% chance of rain, I think.
Matt Jones
Is it outside?
Billy (Groom)
Ceremony is supposed to be outside. Yes. Reception inside.
Matt Jones
But you know what Alanis Morris said?
Billy (Groom)
Said it's ironic.
Matt Jones
It's like rain on your wedding day. Things. Well for her, that album sold really well.
Caller Jay
Me and Abby are still married and it rained all day on our wedding day.
Billy (Groom)
We have umbrellas.
Matt Jones
So hopefully we have to sit outside in the rain.
Billy (Groom)
Well, I don't know. This is all moving, it's all developing situation here.
Matt Jones
What was the rain plan?
Billy (Groom)
Rain plan was to go inside.
Matt Jones
Okay, well, there you go.
Billy (Groom)
Well, there's some things with the ceremony that you know, we want to do it outside. So we'll see. We're going to. We're going to game time decision. Yeah, exactly. We're going to cross our fingers.
Matt Jones
You know, I'll tell you what we'll do. We'll Chris Bailey on yes.
Mario
Friday, get an updated forecast.
Matt Jones
He could tell us exactly what is going to happen that day at that time in that location. Secret location. Not in Lexington. Like it's out amongst them.
Billy (Groom)
Well, as you just talked about Kentucky weather. Who knows, right?
Matt Jones
So who knows?
Caller Hilton
Yeah.
Matt Jones
CRC roofing.
Billy (Groom)
That's right.
Caller Jay
Ponchos.
Matt Jones
We'll bring Poncho. Anything that we need to expect, we've got. I got to go pick up my suit. I was gonna do it today, probably be tomorrow, but. Anything we need to know there?
Billy (Groom)
I don't know if there's anything you need to know. I think it starts at 5:30. We're on the side of a cliff. Don't bring your children.
Ryan
Yeah, it's on the pamphlet.
Matt Jones
That's why I'm asking you to tell the cliff rain.
Caller Jay
What kind of shoes do I need to have on here?
Matt Jones
Am I climbing something?
Billy (Groom)
No, climbing.
Matt Jones
I mean it's on the side of a cliff.
Billy (Groom)
It overlooks the Kentucky river in Danville.
Mario
Wait a minute.
Matt Jones
Now you're starting to tell people where this is?
Ryan
Yeah, we've been there before.
Caller Jay
Yeah.
Billy (Groom)
It's called Lockridge Park. We're going to do a remote.
Matt Jones
Why did you just say.
Ryan
Why did you do that?
Mario
Now the paparazzi are going to be.
Billy (Groom)
Well, I mean, tops. And Lexington's already going to be there.
Ryan
We're gonna have a flyover.
Matt Jones
Wow. Tops in Lexington is going to be there.
Ryan
Don will be flying over.
Billy (Groom)
Yeah. Stamp a couple pics.
Chelsea Handler
Wow.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Mario
Have you got your pre wedding haircut?
Billy (Groom)
I have.
Matt Jones
And you're good with me where you're good with the. The cool hat wearing.
Billy (Groom)
I haven't seen the hat, but I'm going to trust your judgment on it.
Bob (Caller)
Okay.
Caller Jay
Just take it off during Ron's prayer.
Ryan
Yep.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I'm, I'm excited. I think that's nice. I like.
Mario
I was honored that they asked me to do it.
Matt Jones
That is very nice.
Billy (Groom)
Yeah.
Matt Jones
No can. Who's doing the guest book?
Billy (Groom)
What do you mean doing it? Like everybody can sign the guest book when they.
Matt Jones
It's usually somebody that's there to like, tell them to do it.
Billy (Groom)
Oh, yeah. I don't know. Do you want to do that?
Matt Jones
No, no. It's a great job for Paul.
Billy (Groom)
Oh, we'll put Paul to work somewhere. He's going to help.
Matt Jones
Yeah, Paul needs to work the. In some form. Well, I'm excited for you. Are you like these are your last couple days of. Of singleness?
Billy (Groom)
Yeah. I've had a couple bachelor parties, had a good time. So I, you know, I'm not holding on to anything, but. I cannot believe your first ESPN radio show. I got caught astray at the end of that.
Matt Jones
Could not believe it did get brought up on national radio. A caller called in. It's the guy that always harasses you, though. So he called the national show and brought up.
Billy (Groom)
But then you asked a audience. Have you ever heard of somebody asking
Matt Jones
if it makes you feel good? Exactly. So that shows it's unique.
Ryan
So. So for DraftKings, are we going over under 25 years for the wedding that the marriage.
Matt Jones
From DraftKings use the code KSR DraftKings.com way over.
Caller Jay
I'll take eternity at +200.
Matt Jones
I will take love as the art is. The Judds once said, we'll build a bridge between your heart and Marissa.
Billy (Groom)
I appreciate that. That faith in me. You know, 60% of marriages in this country end in divorce.
Matt Jones
Well, I wouldn't bring that stat up.
Billy (Groom)

Hosts: Matt Jones, Ryan, Mario, Billy
Episode Theme: Lively mix of Kentucky sports news, fan engagement, quirky local updates, and personal stories – with special attention to college athletics, “Ask Anything Wednesday” questions, and a behind-the-scenes vibe as crew member Billy prepares for his wedding.
This episode of KSR blends the latest UK sports discourse with local oddities, listener participation, and offbeat banter. It spotlights a wild Akron football fundraising gimmick, debates college basketball fandom, relishes sad songs, and shares details about Billy's impending nuptials — all in the signature lighthearted, rapid-fire KSR tone.
