Ryan
with our weekend topic. You know, I couldn't miss this show. I had to make sure I was here to.
Matt Jones
No Billy, no Mario. So this, this will be a rare. Like we may not have anything on social media because we don't have any Mario to do it right. So this is like old school. If you're not here on the podcast, you won't even know what's happening.
Shannon
So for the rest of the week, it's just you and me and Shannon. Like old school days back in the day.
Matt Jones
Yeah, we're gonna bring some people in.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
I've got Josh Hopkins coming one day. Got other couple other potential guests sitting with us. But yeah, we're gonna. And one day we had talked about maybe Wednesday or Thursday. You and I will go somewhere.
Shannon
Yeah, A little pop up shop, but
Matt Jones
we just don't know where we'll go. Depends on where do you want. Where do you want to go?
Shannon
My living room would be good.
Matt Jones
No, we're not. I'm not. You don't spend any time at your house. Why in the world would I go there?
Shannon
We could do one at your new house.
Matt Jones
We could, but I like. But I mean, don't you want to go out and about and see people?
Shannon
What about our power lifter in Elizabethtown? We talked about going to see him one day.
Matt Jones
I do want to do that. I can't do that this week.
Shannon
Okay.
Matt Jones
But I do want to do that.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
What was his name again?
Drew
Donnie.
Shannon
Darrell. Donnie.
Drew
Donnie, Imus and Debbie.
Matt Jones
Donnie. Yeah, I want to go see Donnie and he was. His wife's Debbie. Debbie. Boy, you have a good memory. Donnie and Debbie. Okay, good. I want to go see them, but not. I can't do it this week, but. So we got a lot of stuff to talk about. Weekend. You know, I always say the. The. The first two to three weeks of August, hardest time to do radio of the year. And it's been doubly true because I've also had to launch an ESPN show during the hardest time and that. But you know what? That's okay because we're almost halfway through it. But we got an addition this week because we had Billy's wedding.
Ryan
Yes. The event of the summer.
Matt Jones
Event of the summer. Social event of the year. All brown at Lockridge Park.
Drew
We were down with the brown. It was awesome.
Chris
What.
Matt Jones
What town is. Is that technically? Lancaster.
Shannon
I think the address is Lancaster.
Matt Jones
Lancaster.
Ryan
My GPS said.
Matt Jones
All right, so we. We. We got Paul. He picked us all up. We went to Billy's wedding. We were pushing on time, so we actually. We got there, thanks to Ryan, just a little bit. Almost light.
Shannon
Yeah, it was my fault. I take full responsibility.
Matt Jones
Why were you late?
Shannon
You want to know? You really want to know?
Matt Jones
I don't know, Shannon.
Drew
Do I really? Yeah, I think we do. Go ahead, say it.
Matt Jones
Why were you, like. Cause, like, you picked. You were supposed to be at my house at 4. You got there at.
Shannon
As we're leaving the house, one of our dogs disappeared, so we're trying to find a dog.
Matt Jones
What do you mean, disappear?
Shannon
Like we couldn't find one of the dogs. One of the four dogs couldn't find it.
Matt Jones
You have four?
Shannon
Well, I have three. Jennifer has one.
Matt Jones
So, again, like the Brady Bunch.
Drew
Yeah, It's a whole dog pound going on over there.
Matt Jones
So where was it?
Shannon
It was hiding underneath the deck outside.
Matt Jones
And so you felt like you needed to make sure it was there?
Shannon
Well, we were just trying to get it inside. I didn't want to leave it outside. It was hot. So we're trying to find and make sure they were all inside.
Chris
Okay.
Shannon
But then when we found that, then we couldn't find her glasses.
Matt Jones
Did you think they'll maybe call the people waiting on you to say what was happening?
Shannon
I called Drew. I said, hey, we're on the way. We're late. We're not gonna make it on time. But we're on the way.
Drew
He knew. He called you, Matt. It would not be an acceptable excuse to say, my dog's out. You'd be like, who cares? Come on.
Ryan
Don't forget the glasses.
Shannon
Couldn't find the glasses.
Chris
And this.
Shannon
We're putting out the driveway. Josiah pulls In So I got to give him his instructions. Hey, let the dogs out, feed the dogs, do all this. We're not gonna be home to late, blah, blah, blah.
Matt Jones
So there were three reasons you've been of the summer, but you never thought to tell us why you would be late to a wedding of one of our co workers.
Shannon
Well, Drew tried to cover for me when I think one of you guys sent a group text message like, hey, Paul's here. And Drew's like, hey, Ryan's lemons are on the way. We're going to. They're going to get me. But.
Matt Jones
Well, why didn't you send it?
Shannon
I was busy driving like a busy bat out of hell.
Matt Jones
So. So we got there. We. Because we got there. There were no seats. Billy was a steam. Was a. It literally was a standing room only wedding. Sold out.
Ryan
We were in the overflow.
Matt Jones
We were in the overflow. Thank goodness, because it was 900 degrees out there.
Ryan
I was happy being in the overflow area.
Matt Jones
Oh my goodness. Because at least we got drinks in the overflow area. But it was. It was hot. And to the people that were sitting down there, God bless them. God bless them. Because it was hot in that sun that no rain. Chris bailey. It was 50. 50, which is what all weathermen should say about everything. That way. That way they're never wrong.
Drew
Everything's 50. Life is 50. 50. Maybe I'll wake up, maybe I won't.
Matt Jones
So let's talk about the big stories. Brown. Almost everybody wore it.
Shannon
Correct.
Matt Jones
I was pretty much universally followed except for Billy's dad. But I think that was intentional. I think the wedding party was supposed to stick out. Marissa's sisters wore the colors of the rainbow.
Shannon
Correct.
Matt Jones
And then Billy's dad and like so.
Ryan
So his dad matched his mom.
Matt Jones
Which tells me, I mean, it was intentional. It was supposed to be, we are all blending into the scenery and then they are the. So that was good though, because then I knew who people's family were.
Shannon
That's good point.
Ryan
The guests were symbolic of the earth. That's why we were brown. Then they had the rainbow.
Matt Jones
Is that true?
Ryan
Yeah.
Shannon
Yeah.
Ryan
We were the earth.
Matt Jones
So we were the earth.
Drew
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Oh, I didn't know that. So the sisters were the rainbows. What was the wedding party in black. What were they?
Ryan
Well, the bridesmaids wore green. I don't know, maybe that was the grass on top of the earth. I didn't get that far into the.
Matt Jones
I didn't realize I was the earth.
Drew
Billy was a lump of coal is what he was.
Matt Jones
I Was the Earth. See, I didn't know that. Okay, that's interesting. All right, let me. Let me do big picture. First of all, both Billy and Marissa looked amazing.
Drew
They did.
Shannon
They really did.
Matt Jones
They really did. Like, like, that's the best Billy's ever looked. She looked amazing. Like, they looked like a great couple. And Billy was. It looked like he was going to poop his pants the entire time. But he. He got through it and he. He was great. The wedding vows were not. Were very nice. It was a. It was a beautiful wedding. I have some observations, and then. And then I'll go to you.
Shannon
Okay.
Matt Jones
Number one, Billy's dad looks exactly like Al Snow. Very similar point that. Honestly, I thought Al Snow was doing the wedding.
Shannon
As soon as he came out, you said, that's Al Snow.
Drew
You know, Al does do weddings, by the way.
Matt Jones
I know that.
Drew
Yeah.
Matt Jones
That's why I thought, did Billy, like, pull a swerve and bring Al Snow to do his wedding? Because his dad looks exactly like Al Snow. And you know, Al Snow scares me. So that was one thing. His grandfather looks exactly like Joe Kraft.
Shannon
You said that as he walked out,
Matt Jones
like Al Snow and Joe Kraft were doing. And then the preacher looked exactly like Gary Parrish. I was like, did he just invite celebrities to this wedding?
Shannon
All celebrity look alikes.
Matt Jones
So the wedding party for the males was Gary Parrish doing the ceremony, then Billy, then Al Snow, and then Joe Craft.
Ryan
Event of the summer.
Matt Jones
And what a great hodgepodge of people. I'm getting Gary Parrish island college basketball to do my ceremony.
Ryan
Yeah, we had fun playing the lookalike game from the overflow.
Matt Jones
Was there a lot of look alike.
Shannon
There were people thinking, he's trying to stretch it. You're not stretching it. They're all dead on.
Matt Jones
I swear to you. I thought that was Joe Kraft.
Shannon
Yeah. Oh, yes. He probably looked the most.
Matt Jones
He looked the most like him. I was like, does Billy have a Joe Craft connection? I genuinely thought that was smart move.
Drew
I mean, that would be a hell of a wedding gift from Joe Craft.
Matt Jones
Heck, yeah. So the big surprise, which I think had leaked out to some people is Billy's wife came out on a camel.
Shannon
Correct.
Matt Jones
A full fledged camera.
Chris
Yeah.
Ryan
That was not a small camel.
Matt Jones
That was like, you know, you see pictures from the Middle east and there's a camel. That was a camel. I guess it was symbolic of Isaac and is it Sarah? My mom's gonna be disappointed at me.
Ryan
Isaac is involved.
Matt Jones
I think Isaac was the male. I'm gonna say Sarah and act like I remember Bible study. But regardless, it was something. That was something about that. So she came out on a camel, and the camel that was like. She came out from behind a building on a camel and, like, that was a stunning side. You're not used to seeing that in Lancaster, are you?
Ryan
This camel was so tall.
Matt Jones
It was so big.
Ryan
They actually found the biggest camel.
Matt Jones
I think they went. I think they got the George Murasan.
Drew
If you wanted a camel to be here today, where would you go? How would you book a camel?
Matt Jones
Clearly, there's a camel guy.
Shannon
The camel store in Lancaster.
Matt Jones
I would never have believed there was a camel guy, but there's a camel.
Ryan
So exotic. Got it.
Matt Jones
So she came out on the camel
Shannon
and she looked beautiful sitting up there. She really did.
Matt Jones
She did. What did you think of the camel
Shannon
like, you guys, it was massive. It was a massive camel. But she looked like she was in, like, a Disney movie riding out for her wedding. She looked so pretty up there.
Matt Jones
And we knew the camel was coming, but still, it surprised.
Shannon
It shocks you to see it.
Matt Jones
To see it in person.
Ryan
Yeah. We had known for a while and we were kind of like, all right, here comes the camel part. And then when it turned the corner,
Matt Jones
I was like, whoa.
Ryan
Yeah. She even had, like, the little perch that sits on it that kind of.
Matt Jones
And it looked like the. Kind of like it looked like when I was a kid. You remember the cigarettes said Joe Campbell?
Drew
Yeah, I thought that was like that.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I. I kind of looked like that.
Drew
The Campbell was smoking a cigarette on the way down the aisle. I thought, you know what? Joe Campbell.
Matt Jones
So it gets to the top of the aisle and then it's supposed to let her down.
Shannon
Kneel down.
Ryan
Rebecca.
Matt Jones
Rebecca.
Ryan
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Is it Rebecca and Isaac.
Ryan
Rebecca and Isaac.
Matt Jones
Okay. Rebecca and Isaac. Sarah, she was doing. She was answering the phone calls, like in maybe. Sarah, get me the operator. Yeah, yeah. When. When the camel knee, like. But the camel got kind of freaked out, I think.
Shannon
Little stage fright with a big crowd there.
Matt Jones
The crowd and the music. So the camel wouldn't kneel. So there's a couple minutes where it looked like she wasn't going to be able to get off.
Ryan
They played the song three times, Three songs worth of trying to get it to kneel.
Matt Jones
Billy, for some reason, was miked up for live commentary.
Shannon
Yes, he was.
Matt Jones
And Billy was in his producer mode. He goes, do I need to come back there?
Shannon
Right?
Drew
At one point, Jump off of it. He said, you just need to jump off.
Matt Jones
He told her to jump off.
Drew
He did.
Matt Jones
No, he didn't.
Drew
He Said jump off.
Matt Jones
He wanted her to jump off of that camel.
Drew
Yeah. He had a broken ankle.
Ryan
I liked when Bill Billy said, do I need to come back there? My brain thought, what are you gonna do if the camel man can't get
Matt Jones
the camel man can't get her down, What's Billy gonna do? Billy's gonna make it worse.
Drew
Billy confidence. He had his camel, believed he was
Matt Jones
gonna be able to get that camel down.
Drew
Camel, yeah.
Ryan
He had to save his bride.
Matt Jones
He wanted her to jump. That would have been horrible.
Drew
How great would it be on the.
Ryan
It was.
Shannon
There was a moment, though, where, like, even Jennifer said, do we need to go get a ladder? Like, I didn't know if it was gonna happen.
Matt Jones
You definitely should have gone and gotten a ladder. And Ryan l climbed up there. That's what you. Well, so the camel walked around. They took her. The camel away from the people, and then it knelt down.
Shannon
Correct? Yeah. Got him away from the crowd.
Matt Jones
She got out. So we set the over under, if you remember, at 37 and a half minutes. The interest took a long time because
Shannon
the camel I even went to said, oh, we're going to be way over.
Matt Jones
But then the ceremony was quick. It was no songs, no prayers. No prayers, no speeches, no readings, just straight vows. And we came in at 31 minutes, six and a half minutes under.
Ryan
Yeah.
Matt Jones
I was only probably 14 minutes of ceremony.
Ryan
I was already counting my over money when we had the camel issue. I thought for sure that was going over. That was one of the quicker ceremonies of just the, you know, the talking part that I've ever seen.
Matt Jones
So we did that, and then that was nice. Beautiful ceremony, beautiful finish. Then we get to the reception. It is everybody, you know, doing the reception things where everybody's, you know, you're mingling, et cetera. They do rhyme with the prayer. All of a sudden, Ryan is like. He becomes Shannon Rodney Dangerfield Ryan Limit Comedy Hour. He's like, everybody welcome.
Drew
Respect.
Matt Jones
I get no respect. I flew out here. What is it about airplane food? Come on. Four jokes in a minute and ten second prayer. I didn't see that coming. Most people don't make, like, comedy routines in the prayer. But you did four jokes.
Ryan
It's kind of like a roast. It was a roast slash prayer.
Drew
He had a fifth one, but he didn't do it.
Matt Jones
Yeah, you had five.
Shannon
I had one about the camel, and I just forgot to say it at the end.
Matt Jones
That's a lot of jokes per religious reference.
Shannon
Well, that's kind of what Marissa wanted when she talked to me about it. She goes, look, just be yourself. Have fun with it. Exactly what she said. Like, okay, zingers are coming. Zinger.
Matt Jones
I live in here. I just flew in. Boy, my arms tired. But you. But you did a great job.
Shannon
Thank you.
Matt Jones
It was very you.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Everybody loved it.
Shannon
Kept it under two minutes.
Matt Jones
Keep it under two minutes. It was very good. It's online. People can see it.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
So overall, I think, really nice event. And I was happy for Billy and Marissa.
Shannon
Very happy for both of them. And like, Shannon has already said, it was nice to kind of hang out with all of us. All you guys. Again, we all got to sit at the same table, just hang out. Billy came and hang out with us a little bit, so, yeah, we don't
Matt Jones
get to hang out like that. Mario was drunk by the end of the ceremony. He was kept. He just kept. I mean, I filmed one of them, but the whole time, he just kept talking to me like he was Obama.
Drew
He did.
Matt Jones
Which I didn't know was something he did.
Drew
That's his best impersonation that he does, though, by far.
Matt Jones
He kept doing it.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
He was like, do you like the fettuccine? And I like, by the end of
Drew
the night, he actually thought he was Obama.
Shannon
He didn't wear a tie because he wanted to wear the bling.
Matt Jones
Well, I mean, like, he can do that because he wears all those necklaces.
Drew
He had a medallion around his.
Matt Jones
He had a medallion. Like, he. You know, he's just. He's. Yeah, he's blinging. But I want to get your all's takes, but let's take a break. We got to take a break. 859-280-2287. Mark Pope issued a challenge to the media, which I am denying, and we will deal with more of that right after this. Ksr.

The show's famously super accessible, so you can easily jump into any of our 650 episodes and understand what's going on.
Matt Jones
We recommend some of our recent episodes with Ben Stiller. The definition of what is a movie has kind of changed anyway, too, right? What do you think it is now? It's images and words being spoken, captured by some sort of technology. Danny McBride. Oh, that's fantastic. And you make it on.
Shannon
You make your own.
Ryan
That's great.
Matt Jones
I call him Tarot Reed.
Ryan
It's a good name.
Drew
They're all named after cast members of American Pie.
Matt Jones
Oh, got.
Nick Turturro
I call.
Matt Jones
I don't. I never looked up if she was in this, but I call him Li Sobieski. Yeah, I don't think she was an American Pie, but I still haven't looked it up. Haven't looked it up. She was prominent.
Drew
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Then Mary Steenbergen.
Podcast Narrator/Ad Voice
Why are you guys talking to me?

Shannon
Are these your songs?
Matt Jones
Welcome back, Ty Sports Radio. Is this Drew's songs?
Ryan
Yeah, my song.
Matt Jones
So Drew's got the ox chord today.
Ryan
Very excited to have possession of the ox.
Matt Jones
And what is this?
Ryan
This is the opening to Forrest Gump.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Ryan
It is titled Forrest Gump main theme by Alan Silvestri.
Shannon
Didn't recognize it.
Matt Jones
I didn't remember it.
Ryan
A feather is flying over Chippewa Square in Savannah, Georgia, right now.
Matt Jones
This is not what I thought you were going to lead with.
Drew
Wasn't this also in Drew's wedding? Drew, didn't you use this in your wedding?
Ryan
Abby came out to this song.
Drew
That's right.
Matt Jones
Wow, look at you. Remember. How about that? Shannon? Did you remember that?
Drew
I did, yeah.
Matt Jones
You do have a good memory about this. I mean, I was in the wedding. Was this when I walked out or when she walked out? No, we didn't put this for you to walk out.
Drew
You thought the big places for you to walk out.
Matt Jones
Well, no, I mean, the groomsmen. We walked out to a song. I don't remember what it was. Yeah, but it wasn't this.
Ryan
So right now, I think a gust of wind just blew it right over a car.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Ryan
And it's eventually going to zero into forest on a bench.
Chris
Okay.
Ryan
Where he says, those must be comfortable shoes.
Matt Jones
Well, this wasn't the song I predicted you would lead with, but. But nice. One person writes, matt, what animal would you guys have your bride ride in? I would have never thought of that. But apparently it is Genesis 24. Rebecca rides a camel to meet Isaac, to marry him. Sarah was. Rebecca was Isaac's mother. I knew there was some relation.
Shannon
I think there's a biblical reference where you're supposed to leave all your sadness, all your despair, everything in the hump of the camel. So that's what she was doing.
Matt Jones
What? Yeah, that's in the box.
Shannon
Yeah, that's the biblical reference.
Drew
Reverend Lemon over here.
Matt Jones
In the hump of the camel.
Shannon
The hump is supposed to take all your worry, all your stress, all your sadness. Leave it in the hump of the camel.
Drew
I thought there was just water.
Matt Jones
I honestly have never heard that. You may be correct.
Shannon
That's what. That's how Marissa described it to us.
Matt Jones
Okay, well, then she would know. Yeah, I trust Marissa. I just thought Ryan knew about humps and Bibles, and I didn't think that that was something you would have known. All right. Your thoughts?
Ryan
One takeaway. I hate to call Billy out, you know, they're about to start their honeymoon, but, you know, during the ceremony, he was introduced as the star court.
Matt Jones
Okay, okay, yeah, let's. We gotta. We gotta discuss this.
Ryan
He said he was the best at everything.
Matt Jones
Gary Paris, the preacher.
Ryan
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Read the description of Marissa and Billy and they both seemed pretty accurate to me. Except Billy was described, Shannon, as the star quarterback, the star pitcher.
Drew
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Excelled at everything. Single digit. Digit. Golfer.
Ryan
The best at every sport he played.
Matt Jones
I believe exactly what they said it like it was serious.
Ryan
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Have you ever, until this moment, heard that Billy played quarterback or was the
Ryan
best at every sport?
Shannon
I didn't know he played any sport other than golf.
Chris
I don't.
Ryan
It was.
Matt Jones
How he didn't know presented to us. He did not play quarterback, did he, Shannon?
Drew
Not that I'm aware of.
Shannon
Six, seven year old.
Matt Jones
Just make things up at your wedding.
Shannon
Well, maybe he did. Like when he was like 6, 7, 8 years old. And he was the star at that day.
Drew
You could be whatever you want that day.
Matt Jones
So you can just say, I flew to the moon.
Drew
Why not as a matter of fact, on your wedding day. Have the. Billy.
Matt Jones
Wait till I get married. Wait till you see my description. Former President, United States, Matt Jones just
Ryan
threw me off because the camel just landed. Everything's so sweet. And then this. The bio just didn't match the Groom that I know.
Matt Jones
Not at all, by the way. But Billy's entire family looks exactly like they do.
Ryan
His brothers.
Matt Jones
His brothers are just Billy again.
Shannon
It's a mini.
Matt Jones
They even have the same haircut. All of them. All right. What about you? What stuck out for you?
Shannon
I really enjoyed it. I mean, I'm kind of the wedding expert.
Matt Jones
You cried like five times.
Shannon
Cried like five times.
Matt Jones
You behaved.
Shannon
Thank you. I think I echo what you guys are going to say. Just so proud of Billy. You know, he came into this, this little intern, six, seven, eight years ago. Watch him kind of grow as a person, now as a man. It just kind of really was a proud moment for all of us, I think, to watch him grow, start this new venture in his life.
Matt Jones
I got to have a really nice conversation with his. With his family about the Billy I met versus now and how nice that's been, et cetera. So that was. That was kind of a. Of a cool thing. Shannon, how about you?
Drew
Really, the only way I can break this down is with a Shannon the dude scorecard. So I've got one for you.
Matt Jones
Do you want to do a scorecard? Do you have one?
Drew
I've got one, but you got.
Matt Jones
Okay, here's what I'd like to do. I'd like you to hold off because we've got a short time frame, and I want to give that its time.
Drew
Okay. Well, you guys have kind of covered most of it, but it's up to you.
Matt Jones
I wanted to. Okay, yeah, well, let's.
Shannon
Yeah, I want to do the Shannon scorecard.
Matt Jones
We will, but we need to come back.
Drew
Sure, sure.
Matt Jones
Okay. So we will come back to the scorecard because I want to leave that. Because I want to hear it. But congrats to the couple, very much. All right.
Shannon
Happy for them.
Matt Jones
Now the other big story of the weekend. On Friday, Mark Pope challenged all the media to play in a big Blue Media Madness event where he would take the UK media through a basketball practice and film it. I love the idea. I think it's a cool, innovative idea. I think it'll be fun. Mario's already in.
Shannon
Yes, he's our representative.
Matt Jones
The question is, will any of us play? Let's start with you, Ryan.
Shannon
If this was 10 or 15 years ago, I would be all about it and so excited, but there is not a chance in France I can do this. I mean, even at Caliperi's camp seven years ago, I was dying. Just been playing my four minute spurt, so there's no way I can do it. I'll enjoy Watching it.
Matt Jones
You always talk about what a good athlete you are.
Shannon
I was.
Chris
Was.
Shannon
Was the key. I mean, I still hold the assist record at my high school. I can play a little ball. I know ball. But I ain't doing this.
Matt Jones
So you're out.
Shannon
I'm out, Drew.
Ryan
I'll probably do it. I haven't put much thought into.
Matt Jones
Oh, you are going to probably.
Ryan
I mean, I'm going 20% speed. I'm not diving on the floor. I'm not even going to run.
Matt Jones
But you'll put the uniform on.
Ryan
I haven't even looked at when the date is, but I'll give it. I'll give it to the old college. I'll give my C. Effort.
Matt Jones
I didn't realize you were going to do it.
Ryan
I'm not running. And I cannot remember the last time I've held a basketball, but I.
Shannon
You may get yelled at if you're not running.
Ryan
Nobody's yelling at me. I'll do Shannon.
Drew
I would, but I can't, so I won't. It's on the first day of Louder Than Life, so it's kind of my Super Bowl.
Matt Jones
Oh, look at him. He's got that. He's got an excuse. I can't make fun of you. I'm out.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
No way.
Shannon
No way.
Matt Jones
No upside. First of all, I retired after that fantasy camp. If you've seen the videos online, I set some hard picks.
Ryan
Good, good screens.
Matt Jones
Good screens. Now on the video, there's nobody there, but I was practicing a play for the game. It was a ghost screen. Jay. John Lucas was yelling at me, telling me to set the screen, but there's no upside. Like, good chance I would get hurt.
Shannon
Yeah, we.
Matt Jones
The last thing I need is this new ESPN show, and I just come in there with a torn acl screaming.
Ryan
That's why I'm not running or going full speed. If I do it, I would.
Matt Jones
Second. I mean, I know I'll just be a meme. All the media is going to be there.
Shannon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And they're waiting for me to miss a shot or to fall down.
Drew
Air ball. Free throw.
Matt Jones
Airball, free throw. I can't. Like, I know what's coming. You got to know your limits in life. Very true. So I.
Ryan
So.
Matt Jones
But Drew's gonna play.
Ryan
Yeah.
Shannon
Probably play athlete.
Matt Jones
Billy needs to play.
Shannon
Right.
Matt Jones
Since he's apparently graded everything.
Drew
Yeah.
Matt Jones
We'll be right back. T.J. smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. he'll make him pay.
Drew
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Mat Jones.
Ryan
You don't know the song. I feel like it's a great song.
Matt Jones
I've heard it.
Ryan
But this is the scene where they're bullying Forrest and he runs for the first time and his braces come off as Jeannie cheers him on.
Matt Jones
So are all the songs today from Forrest Gump?
Ryan
Well, you'll have to listen to the whole show. This is a very pivotal scene. This is when Forrest runs, he has speed, and he finally overcomes the bullies
Matt Jones
that have bullied him for being a Forrest Gump soundtrack.
Ryan
So great. Double disc.
Matt Jones
All right, good.
Shannon
The braces explode off his knees.
Matt Jones
855-92-2287. Text machine is 772-77-4-5254. Phone lines are open. Shannon. Right. All right, good deal. Oh, you're waiting on a person to get on. Okay, well, when. When they get on, then we will. Then we'll let it happen. One person writes, Matt, are you saying that you won't do the media at Madness because you will only do things with upside for us individuals? No, I don't want to get hurt. I think it's just. It's just like. Like Ryan says, it's just an age thing. Plus, when you're. When you're 6 4, your body parts, you know, they don't move. Like, the agility goes back and forth.
Shannon
Now, the Caliperi camp you played in four minute intervals. You did as soon as I got in. I'm watching the clock, begging it to go as fast as it can.
Matt Jones
And I was 37 then.
Shannon
Yeah, that was.
Matt Jones
I went back and looked. That was the. That was the 25th. I was on the 2014 team. Randall, the twins. That's a long time ago. I was 36.
Shannon
Oh, my goodness.
Matt Jones
That's a long time ago.
Shannon
Makes a difference.
Matt Jones
Who's on here?
Drew
This is coach Mark Pope.
Matt Jones
Mark Pope is on the phone.
Drew
Yeah, your first caller of the day.
Matt Jones
You're lying. No, Mark Pope, it is. Mark Pope. Hello, Mark Pope. How are you?
Chris
It's a beautiful day. It's a really special moment, you might say.
Shannon
It's a beautiful day. And she was a beautiful bride. And beautiful skies.
Matt Jones
Yeah. You know, one of our guys got married, and Ryan here referenced your tendency to say beautiful during the prayer.
Chris
Hey, I'm glad the wedding was. Was good, guys. I'm so happy about that. It's awesome.
Matt Jones
Yeah, it was. It was a beautiful.
Ryan
You know what?
Matt Jones
It was a beautiful wedding. What's going on?
Chris
I'm calling with an agenda, so.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Chris
I'm really trying to sell this media Madness. On September 17th. I'm getting all kind of juice,
Hayes Davenport
but
Chris
I need you guys to show and come in full force. Matt, I heard there was some. Some hesitation on your part. We got it. We got to get you over the edge. It's five and a half weeks of training.
Matt Jones
Wait a minute. So you're calling because you want what? I guess the people who are playing are me and Ryan. You want Ryan and I to play?
Chris
No, no. Ryan, listen. I know you. I know you've been dealing with a lot of stuff. This is five and a half weeks ahead with for some level of participation. I'm pushing the whole crew. Like, you think about this team, you think about roster construction right now.
Matt Jones
Yes.
Chris
Like, you got Matt, Ryan, Mario, Drew. Like, Drew's gonna bring the thunder. Shannon Tyler probably will be the ringer. Like, this is a squad, this KSR squad. I just think this could be epic.
Shannon
I've got a great role for me. It involves water bottles and clipboard.
Matt Jones
All right, hang on just a second. Because I. It is like he's calling us specifically.
Chris
Yes. So right now, Right now, just so you know, like. Like all these media groups, like JMI is coming, like they're putting together a squad. They just think that it's going to be a beatdown.
Matt Jones
All right, well, we can't let JMI business. All right, so how about this, Ryan, I'm looking at you right now. If you will do it because I know you've been through a lot of stuff. If you'll do it, then I'll do it.
Shannon
I'll do it as long as I don't have to put together 100% effort. Like maybe 30% effort.
Drew
Oh, no, no. We need all your effort.
Chris
Hey, what if we do this? What if we. There's a couple options. We could go half court or we could do the old, like throwback Kansas, you know, old school girls rules, where it was like three on three on one side. You only played defense or you only said offense. You never cross half court like we do. Listen, for you to show up and do this, Ryan would be incredible. Right?
Shannon
So one of the requests, I can sub myself in and out as needed.
Chris
He.
Matt Jones
Yeah, he's asking, can he sub himself
Chris
in and out Hockey, substitution, hockey sub. So you can just sub and live play.
Shannon
Just one trip down the floor, Coach, and I'm out. I'm dumb tapped in my head. I'm out. Get me out of here.
Matt Jones
I'll tell you what, I wasn't going to do it, Mark, because I feels like embarrassment. But if you're Going to call an. Go ahead.
Chris
But it's not. That's what I was saying. So I saw the thing about the meme turning into a meme. If you don't get turned into a meme three or four times in your lifetime, what's the point of living? That's why we're here, to do that.
Matt Jones
That's true. There is a meme of me dancing right now, so I probably could. You know what? All right, since you took the time to call, I'll be there. I will play in it and I will encourage all the other people to as well. We'll see how everybody's schedule works. But since you called and since you take the time to reach out, I will play.
Chris
You guys are awesome. And this is what I'm looking for because this is actually so fun for us too. Like, could we get, I don't know, some little two minute segment once a week that's just like, how is training going? Like, some report on how the training is going. Like, who's actually getting the work done? I don't know. Is, like, is Drew really going to show up for prep work every day? It could be push ups during the break in the show, whatever. But just something like, I want to know.
Matt Jones
I'll tell you what, one more request. How about this? My ESPN co host, Myra, if I can get him here, can he play? And then we'll do the show from the thing. Is that. Is that all right?
Chris
You. You. You bring whoever you need to bring. Like, all right. Like, you could. If you need to hire. I was talking to who's a BBN tonight the other day, and if they want to make some last second hires just to like, bulk up their team. Brilliant.
Shannon
You know what? What's crazy? We just hired Tayshawn Prince to join ksr.
Matt Jones
It's crazy.
Chris
Okay, one more.
Matt Jones
One more request then if you can. If you're. If you're okay with ringers. How about this? I think this would actually be fun. Can we like, a week before, have a little event for the. I'm just brainstorming here, but have a little event for the fans and whoever, like, wins our little event can play. Are you okay with that?
Chris
Yeah, man. Yeah. Yes. Go sell, baby.
Matt Jones
Now.
Drew
That would be cool.
Shannon
That'd be a lot of fun.
Matt Jones
That would be cool. Okay, so we'll work on it. I will play. Drew and Ryan will play.
Shannon
I'm in.
Matt Jones
Shannon's got a scheduling issue, but we'll see what we can do.
Drew
I'll try. I'll try to get there.
Chris
Yeah.
Matt Jones
But Mark, I appreciate you calling in and because of you, we'll do it.
Chris
All right, boys. Hey, I can't wait to see. I'll have a. Have a great few weeks of training. Okay.
Matt Jones
All right. Thank you very much.
Drew
All right. Get on the treadmill.
Shannon
I want bad for everybody else. I want to hold board. I'm going to hold the clipboard and be the water boy and I'll be very happy in that.
Matt Jones
I just. I just came up with this. Do you like the idea of doing a fan?
Shannon
Love it. It would be very popular.
Matt Jones
I will talk to UK and see how many because I think it would be cool. We could hold like a little combine.
Drew
Sure.
Matt Jones
Not looking for the best player.
Shannon
Oh, yeah, we are. We want to win.
Matt Jones
No, I want it to. I want everybody to feel like. Like I. Well, I'll talk to the folks at uk, see if they're okay. How do. Yeah, I think it would be nice maybe if we could get like one man, one woman, one child.
Shannon
That's a good idea.
Matt Jones
Yeah, right?
Shannon
Yeah, that's a good idea to be on our KSR team. I didn't realize we were be competing against the other groups as I didn't
Matt Jones
realize it was a team thing either. But we have some people on the website who can plot Pilgrim, Stephen, Pete, Jack Pilgrim and Mario can. Can provide a core to be decent.
Shannon
I'm good for some hard fouls. Nick, we got. Nick Roush got a post player.
Matt Jones
You and I, we can just come in. I can be frank. I could just come in and foul
Shannon
people on the floor.
Matt Jones
He might be a little stronger than me, but. Okay. So I'm going to get. We're going to get to work on this.
Shannon
Okay.
Matt Jones
For the combat for. To get. Because I think having a combine with fans, that's a lot.
Shannon
That's a great idea.
Matt Jones
Would be a lot of fun.
Drew
Our biggest thing is just going to be cardio. I need everybody to get on a treadmill immediately after the show and see how far you get.
Matt Jones
I'm going to have to call my.
Chris
All right.
Matt Jones
I took some time off. I got. I need you for five weeks.
Chris
Yeah.
Drew
Let's see what kind of condition you can be in.
Matt Jones
All right.
Shannon
Wow. How are you going to turn it down when he calls into the show?
Matt Jones
You know, I heard they were going to try to talk us into it. I didn't expect Mark to call into the show.
Chris
Right.
Ryan
As we said it.
Nick Turturro
All right.
Ryan
You know, easy sells. See nothing to it. We'll be fine.
Matt Jones
I'm glad if honestly I'm doing it because he called and because you'll do it. Because I think it will be cool. After all you've been through, to have you run out there. No, that will actually be awesome.
Shannon
Of course. You know I have to pee every five minutes. I can't play very long.
Matt Jones
We don't need to go into those details. But that'd be okay. You can sub yourself out.
Ryan
You're a point guard. We need you.
Matt Jones
All right. So be ready. That week of September.
Shannon
That's yoga.
Drew
Girls. Birthday.
Shannon
I'm easy to remember.
Matt Jones
Yeah, but like a week, maybe a week before, that's when we'll do our thing.
Chris
Thing.
Shannon
Okay.
Matt Jones
We're gonna start working on that. Cause I have no idea how to do that. Beat the heat with a big summer sale at Don Franklin. Choose from over 6,000 new and certified pre owned vehicles. Plus Don Franklin's 10 year unlimited powertrain coverage. Dealerships all across the bluegrass. Our trusted family is here to serve all your auto needs. It's Don Franklin and Don Franklin auto dot com. Scroll, click, drive at Don Franklin Don Franklin Auto. All right, here we go.
Shannon
I can bring out my number 48 UK jersey. I got that.
Matt Jones
Let's go. Mark Pope. We'll be right back. KSR. Welcome back. Tucky Sports Radio. All right. 859-280-2287. I've already recruited my first ringer.
Shannon
Let's do it. Let's do it.
Matt Jones
Richie Farmer is on the phone. Richie, I don't know if you just heard that call in, but they're gonna do a media basketball thing at uk. They said we could bring in a ringer. You want to lay some up one last time in Memorial?
Drew
Well, Matt, I would love to do that, but after a hip replacement, a back surgery and 2ft surgeries, I think I probably have to hang it up at this point.
Matt Jones
Ryan and I can't play either. But you think you could just give a little? Like we just will run some offense for you.
Shannon
Just sitting three point line.
Matt Jones
If you sit on the three point line, we'll get you the ball all.
Drew
Okay. We. You want me to just be a shooter?
Chris
Yeah.
Drew
Scorer. Yes.
Ryan
Yes.
Matt Jones
You know, some hard screens. We'll set some screens for you. I'm not. Listen, we're gonna. We're gonna get other ringers. But what do you think one more time, Richie, and give it a shot?
Drew
All right, we'll. We'll think about it.
Chris
How's that?
Matt Jones
Okay.
Chris
I'll.
Drew
I'll give it a. I'll think about it, Chris.
Chris
Sure.
Drew
I Think it'll be fun. I think you guys will have fun with that.
Chris
Oh,
Drew
Richie. A little bit. He's going to join me on the pre show Wednesday, so let me talk to him.
Chris
We'll.
Matt Jones
Okay. So Wednesday, Richie, if people call in, they might be able to convince you to play.
Chris
Okay.
Drew
All right. We'll. We'll see how it goes.
Chris
All right.
Matt Jones
Thank you, Richie. Appreciate it.
Shannon
It's just very convenient. That KSR internship that just opened up for applications.
Matt Jones
You know, Willie, he'd be a perfect Internet and Marcus Lee would stand us up. Kevin. Go ahead, Kevin. Yes, Go for it.
Chris
Hello. Hey. So I got kind of a what if scenario. Or would you rather. Would you rather will Stein have like a mediocre six wins, give us to a bowl game every now and then and just have a nice 1012 year career? Or do you. Would you rather him knock it out of the park, take us to the college playoffs, but then be threatened to leave every time a NFL team needs an offensive coordinator?
Matt Jones
You know what I'm saying? The ladder, and it's not even close. Appreciate the call. Make it to where they want our coach. Yes, you give me a playoff. First of all, anything you say after that, I'm good just for that experience. But secondly, yes, I want people to want my coach.
Shannon
I've said that. I felt like anytime a bigger school or a bigger program comes after our
Matt Jones
football coach, that means he winning.
Shannon
That means we've done something right and
Matt Jones
it means we can get somebody else here.
Shannon
Yeah, true.
Matt Jones
So, yes, without question or if he
Ryan
turns it around and reaches that point, maybe he doesn't want to leave. You know, the game's changed on it has. Where it can be done.
Matt Jones
So I was the guy who forever said it can't be done here. And I'm still going to be skeptical until it's done. But now I think logistically there's a way.
Chris
Sure.
Matt Jones
I never thought there was. Logistically in framework away. Now I do. I think there's a way we all going to do it. I don't know. We'll see. But there's a way. Now it's theoretically possible. So let's get. Yes, I want to do that. And then if he goes, he goes. You know what? That's the way it goes. Hadley. Go ahead. Hadley.
Chris
Hey, what's up? So my brother, yesterday, he got his basketball signed by Montilla Hitch, Mark Pope and Mikey. Who? Reese Potter.
Matt Jones
Wow. Where was this?
Chris
Laurel Lake.
Matt Jones
Laurel Lake.
Chris
Okay.
Matt Jones
They were on some sort of retreat, right? I think that's what I heard. Well, the good.
Chris
And I recently saw this thing. I'm gonna sound so dumb when I say this, but pickle cotton candy. So I wanted to see what weird flavors y' all would think would be, like, good as a cotton candy.
Matt Jones
All right, well, I appreciate the call anything fruity, but what does that mean? Pickled cotton candy have a pickle flavor to it.
Shannon
Cotton candy.
Matt Jones
That sounds.
Ryan
Or do they pickle the cotton cake.
Drew
In a jar? How would I get.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I mean, I don't think I would love any fruit. I mean, when you start picking, like, going anything to, like, vegetables, then I think that would be bad cotton candy. But I. Peony fruit.
Ryan
I meant, I'm surprised we didn't get any pickled cotton candy at Picklesburg. Wasn't that what it's called?
Matt Jones
Pittsburgh?
Chris
Yeah.
Ryan
Yeah, that's a good pickled everything Pick everything.
Shannon
The pickle beer was disgusting.
Drew
You liked it?
Ryan
Yeah, Very good.
Matt Jones
Yeah, he did like it. Yeah. They were all at the. They went on a retreat. Did you hear Milan do his Kentucky accent?
Ryan
Did. What did you think?
Matt Jones
Do you think that sounded like a good Kentucky accent?
Ryan
He's getting better at it as he spent a couple months here. I think by the end of the season, he'll be. He'll fit right in, be one of us.
Shannon
I love it. The fact he's showing a little personality. You know, we get to know who these people are, you know, as a. As a person.
Ryan
Milan's a funny guy.
Shannon
Yeah, he must be.
Matt Jones
So who's somebody else like Richie we can get because, like, I, you know, it is a little cheating to have a Willie Collins time, but who are there. Is there anybody that played and like, we had 90s that would be interested in playing with us? That would be.
Drew
What about Travis Ford? Can he still shoot?
Matt Jones
But he's coaching.
Shannon
There is a former player that actually worked for us in a true capacity. Wukash orb zoot.
Drew
Oh, Woo. I got Wu coming on tomorrow on the pre show. I can talk to Woo.
Matt Jones
Okay. See about Woo. Yeah, we would be tough to go.
Chris
Okay.
Shannon
Yes, he would.
Matt Jones
We would be tough to guard. And it feels like he's actually part.
Shannon
Part of our group. Yeah, we actually, you know, had him do some work for us.
Matt Jones
I'm trying to think who. Who are people in the 90s, early 2000s, you know, who's around town a lot is a Shimu.
Ryan
I just. Just talk to. She moved.
Drew
I mean, warrior.
Chris
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Yeah. He's an officer, right?
Shannon
Law enforcement, Sheriff's deputy.
Chris
Yeah.
Matt Jones
He's probably still in shape. Yeah.
Chris
I gotta.
Ryan
I can confirm definitely. Still in shape.
Matt Jones
I gotta call my trainer this afternoon.
Drew
Got five weeks. You're on the clock.
Matt Jones
Well, we gotta do something just for me to be able to run up down the court. I'm just. The cardio.
Drew
That's the biggest thing.
Matt Jones
I mean, I. I'm not worried. Like, I'm not great at basketball, but whatever I can. I can handle shots.
Drew
It's okay. But if you can't run down the court.
Matt Jones
But I gotta be able to run up and down the court.
Ryan
Where can we get some shots up? I haven't even held a basketball in years.
Matt Jones
Well, I'm gonna get. I'm gonna see if UK will. Maybe UK will let us do our fan thing at Memorial. If not, I'm sure I could get trans heated. Do it.
Shannon
Oh, one of those places would open the door.
Matt Jones
Would certainly do it for us. Yeah, maybe UK would, but I got it. Sunny, you're getting a phone call. Barry. Go ahead, Barry.
Chris
Hey, Matt. So I have a little. Have a little pep talk for Drew on this team. The. I was looking at the roster and teams that have won over the past few years. All of them are. Not all of them, but the last few years they've had kind of a star from the mid majors and we've got that. But I think the people thing we keep forgetting is we've got two very potential all Americans on the team. And there's not too many teams that have that with Milosevic and Malachi.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I appreciate the call. I mean, I think. Do you think. Do you think we have a potential all American? You think one of those guys could make all American?
Ryan
I think they both could. Milan more than Malachi, but I think it's fair to say they.
Matt Jones
The last all American we've had was Reeves.
Ryan
Is that right? Yep, sounds about right.
Drew
How about Patrick Sparks? I just got his number from a caller.
