[Shannon]

I did not follow.

[Matt Jones]

This big debate in the city council meeting. Left with no decision. Shannon. They had a meeting, came to no resolution. Would you like to know what the topic.

[Shannon]

I can't wait to hear what the topic was.

[Matt Jones]

Are we going to ban drag racing in Lexington?

[Shannon]

Oh, yes. On. Was it a man of war? There's no discussion.

[Matt Jones]

Well, it's the whole city. This would be a citywide ban on drag race. In Louisville, drag racing is banned. You. If you. If you drag race a car, motorcycle, whatever, in Louisville, it will be impounded for six months.

[Myron]

Believe this is not already banned.

[Matt Jones]

But in Lexington, it is not banned.

[Myron]

So you and I, Matt and Ryan, we can just go out and we can just get our cars and we can drive.

[Matt Jones]

Well, we can't speed.

[Myron]

Okay, so slow speed drag racing.

[Matt Jones]

Well, I mean, if the police see us drag racing, they can pull us over for speeding.

[Shannon]

Right.

[Matt Jones]

But there is not in Lexington right now a ban on the act of drag racing. In theory, I guess, if you didn't speed, which would be a bad drag race.

[Myron]

Yeah, you and I at 35 miles an hour.

[Matt Jones]

So, Lexi. So they had the debate, and apparently, from what I read in the newspaper, everyone agrees we shouldn't have drag racing. But the question was, there was a disagreement as to what the punishment should be. So I would ask you. The city of Lexington was like, let's have a fine of $2,500. And then other people said. And then some of the other people in the city council said, well, wait a minute, for some of these people, $2500 might not be much money. So they're glad to just do it. Right. So they said, we need to impound the car.

[Shannon]

I like that part.

[Matt Jones]

Because in Louisville, they impound it for six months. They were going to impound it for a month. And some people thought, that's too long, and they said it was too harsh. So they adjourned. I feel like, first of all, I like the impounding is the punishment. I do, too, because it's. You remember years ago when we talked about Swedish speeding tickets? Do you remember this? And in Sweden, they tell you how much your speeding ticket is by how much money you make.

[Wes]

Yeah.

[Myron]

Yeah.

[Matt Jones]

Based off, they take a percentage of your income, which I was in for. I was four.

I thought that made sense, because for some people, $150 is nothing. For some people, it's a big deal.

It is.

But if you said, I get 1% of your income, ain't nobody going to be speeding.

What do you think about this? Do you like a fine? Do you like impounding the car, and if so, how long should it be impounded?

I like a fine and impounding the car. I'll do both. I think you got to do both.

[Matt Jones]

Hit them in the pocketbook. And take away their car. I think a month sounds about right. I think six months in Louisville sounds

a little harsh, but they don't. But now people aren't drag racing as much.

[Shannon]

Well, as a spokesman for the Kentucky department of highway safety, I would say you should never drag race. And if you do, number one, they should take your license. So it doesn't matter if you have a car or not. You can't get behind the wheel, I think for six months.

[Matt Jones]

That's interesting.

I think take the license.

Yeah.

That's a harsh bunch. I mean, if you crime and put.

[Myron]

Yes, you got. You got to put your foot down. Because if not, then Yeah, I mean, 30 days, they're going to be right back out there in just a few weeks. So you're not.

[Matt Jones]

I didn't know. According to one of the people on the council, they say Lexington has a horrible drag racing problem. I didn't know. We did.

[Shannon]

Apparently it's on man o war on man. I'm not for sure. I guess maybe some little stretches of man of war between stoplights and they

[Matt Jones]

stop because to drag race you have to be at a complete stop. So where on man of war are people at a complete stop and then there's enough ground to drag race?

[Josh Hopkins]

Not sure.

In between parker's mill and the airport. There's a long stretch there, but there's not a stoplight. No. I don't know.

[Myron]

They just agree to stop at a random spot.

[Shannon]

Do they get.

Do they have those big parachutes on their car?

[Shannon]

I just thought of something. If you impound a car, you can go drag race in another car the next night.

[Matt Jones]

You can. No, you can. So that's the. That, that's the argument is what's more effective. But presumably if you're a drag racer, like, it's not like you got an infinite supply of great cars. You want to use your best car.

[Shannon]

Right?

[Matt Jones]

Right. Even in nascar there are guys who are like, I want this car, not that car. Right, Right.

[Shannon]

If your car gets impounded, mom, can I borrow your car tonight? And a big race.

[Myron]

We are harsher though, on people who get what, eight points or 10 points, whatever the limit is on your driver's license. You know, you get 10 points on your driver's license. You get that taken away from you. So how can we. Harsher.

[Matt Jones]

So you want to give point. We'll just give an amount of points for drag race.

10 points. You're out the whole thing. Yes.

I just didn't know Lexington had a big drag racing problem.

[Shannon]

I didn't either. Heard this news report this morning that they had this issue, but I had no idea what was going on.

[Matt Jones]

Okay, so it's.

[Shannon]

As of now, undecided.

[Matt Jones]

Undecided. They're going to revisit it at next week.

[Shannon]

Who is?

[Myron]

And it's on drag racing, by the way.

[Matt Jones]

I don't think anybody was for it. I think the disagreement was what the punishment was. I don't think anybody. Somebody was like, drag racing is good. Stop trying to ban it. I don't think that was happening. But as of right now, Lexington did not have an official you can't drag race law.

[Shannon]

So it's coming. There's a law that's got to decide what the punishment.

[Matt Jones]

Who would have thought it would be? Louisville seems very harsh.

[Shannon]

Six months.

[Matt Jones]

But in Louisville, they're saying in a lot of places you could do it. Like downtown on those streets where there's a stoplight and then a long stretch. Until now, I bet that's where people are doing it in Louisville, don't you think?

[Wes]

Yeah.

[Myron]

And it's dangerous.

[Matt Jones]

Houston doesn't really have that.

[Myron]

It's dangerous. Not for the people involved, but then people who are just driving around, you know, you get these drag racers.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah. All right, next. Have you been following the Tulsa Little League scandal?

[Shannon]

Yes, I have.

[Myron]

Yeah. Yeah.

[Shannon]

[Matt Jones]

All right, so here's my question for you. Whose side are you on? All right, so. So. So let this. It's complicated. You know, in Little League, you have to play in the area where you live.

[Shannon]

Correct.

[Matt Jones]

Everyone cheats.

[Shannon]

Everybody cheats.

[Matt Jones]

Everybody cheats. But Little League has, over the years, tried to make it more and more difficult to cheat. So they have a rule that in order to play for the West Southwest Texas Tulsa team, you had to live in this part of Tulsa.

[Shannon]

Like this district they kind of created. Right.

[Matt Jones]

This part of Tulsa. But they also have a rule that if your siblings play for a different league, you get to play for that league, too. To keep families together. Shannon. Right. Like, you don't have to travel so far.

[Myron]

That's right.

[Matt Jones]

So I guess there is a league for kids that are developmentally challenged, like a Miracle League. A Miracle League that is for kids 8 and younger. And in that the district is like the whole city because there aren't as many kids who have that issue.

[Shannon]

Correct.

[Matt Jones]

This kid's brother played for the Miracle League.

[Shannon]

Right.

[Matt Jones]

Excuse me. Signed up for the Miracle League. He signed up as a seven Year old. Thus, because his brother played for the Miracle League team, the Little League brother was allowed to play for the same district.

[Shannon]

Correct.

[Matt Jones]

But then someone challenged it. First of all, who's the person challenging this? That's interesting to me.

[Myron]

Another parent from another place, probably.

[Matt Jones]

What they find out is a, the kid in the Miracle league was not 7, he was 10 and thus aged out of the league. And B, he never played a game for the league.

[Shannon]

Never played one game.

[Matt Jones]

Now the dad says, I just filled the age wrong of my child in the Miracle League.

[Myron]

Yeah, right. You don't know how old your kid is. Father of the year.

[Matt Jones]

Do you believe him or not?

[Shannon]

Not a chance. No.

[Myron]

I'm telling you, man, these, these like Little League parents are cutthroat. They will lie, they will cheat. They will still feel this way.

[Matt Jones]

The same as I did about the golfer. You're gonna use your kid that's in the Miracle League to get your, the sibling into a different little league team. 12 year olds were talking about, I mean, like. And then the parents of the other team sue and say, why should their mistake keep us out? And the court says, sorry, you wouldn't even be in this game if it wasn't for that kid playing. You're out.

[Shannon]

You're out.

[Matt Jones]

Was. Did the judge make the right decision?

[Shannon]

I think absolutely the judge made the right decision. Yes. There's total shady, shady, shady. When I found out that the Miracle League kid never even played, I didn't even know he was 10. I didn't catch that part of the story.

[Matt Jones]

He was 10.

[Shannon]

He's supposed to be 7.

[Matt Jones]

Supposed to be 7, didn't play.

[Shannon]

So your sibling is ineligible to play in that district.

[Matt Jones]

So you think the dad did it on purpose?

[Shannon]

Absolutely. He wanted his Little League kid to play in a better team to better their chances. Obviously they were good. They were about a chance to go to the World's Little League World Series. He wants his kid to be on that team. He cheated.

Kick him out.

But what about the other kids? The 13 kids that didn't do anything wrong?

[Shannon]

It's true.

[Matt Jones]

But they don't get to go. Is there like, is that fair to them? They were. They had one more game to qualify the Little League series. And because one of their teammates, dads lied about the brother in the Miracle League, they're out.

[Myron]

You think they were oblivious to it? They didn't know what was going on.

[Matt Jones]

I bet some of these 11 year olds were.

[Myron]

How would they have even talking about the coaches. I'm not talking about the players. I'm talking about coaches and the coaches.

[Matt Jones]

The coaches knew and they owe the

[Myron]

rest of the guy. The kids an apology because they can't go now because of this scandal going on.

[Shannon]

There's no doubt the coaches and the dad, they knew this idea.

[Matt Jones]

It's a pretty disgusting plan.

[Shannon]

Yes.

[Myron]

Yeah.

Let's sign up our developmentally disabled child for a league that he's three years too old for and have him not play. I'm assuming this kind of disgust.

[Myron]

Oh, definitely. I'm assuming this kid's really good, too.

[Shannon]

They're going to got to be good.

Well. And he had played in the qualifiers. So the 13 parents were like, all right, he can't play in this game, but can we play? And they're like, no, you wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for that.

But you don't feel sorry for the 13 little ones who didn't get to go.

[Shannon]

I do feel sorry for them. It's the coaches and the dad that did all this.

You don't think it's possible the dad said I just accidentally filled in the wrong paperwork.

[Shannon]

He is so full of crap that he's not even.

I know. I knew Shannon. This stories make right. Cried so bad about Little League.

I'm still mad about Danny Almonte years ago.

Yeah, I was gonna say this has been going on for years. When I played Little League all stars, we were 11 years old. We were playing against guys with a full beard. Like, how is this guy 11 or 12 even?

[Shannon]

It is Bullock County, Shannon.

No, no. This was against other Kentucky schools or so.

So you all agree with the court? Court was correct.

[Shannon]

Court ruled. I feel bad for the other 13 players, but the adults ruined it for him.

The other 50% that watched it liked it so much that it became a hit. But they realized that the first scene was turning half the audience off because it was so weird. And when you see it, you'll see why. So you know what they went and did? They went, but they couldn't like move it because it set the whole story. They. They went and filmed after the show had been out for like six months. A prequel, episode one, so that people could get into the show before they saw that scene.

Isn't that interesting. If you go watch it right now, the episode one, you'll see has only been out for a couple months. But they did it so that you know the characters and that when you get to that scene in what used to be episode one, you won't be as freaked out.

To do that one would have to be really good though, to want you to, you know, go to the second episode.

When you go watch the second episode, the first scene, you'll see why it turned people off. You'll be like, I cannot believe they thought they should start a series like this. But if you've seen episode one like I did see, I'd never seen the show then. I was like, okay, that's weird, but whatever, I'm gonna hang with it because I liked episode one.
