Hey, what's up everybody? It's Levar Arrington here from up on game and I need you to listen for a moment, all right? And get serious. The hate in this country is getting out of control. It's at an all time high. It's going to take all of us to stop it.
Billy Rutledge
I mean, think about it.
Matt Jones
We're all on the same team in this country, right? Let's take a break from hate so our team can regroup. We need to take a time out against hate. Visit standuptolhate.org to help and join me in calling for a timeout against hate by following at what's up with hate or posting the blue square emoji. Welcome everyone. This is the local Toyota dealers KSR post game show. It was a great victory tonight for Kentucky who after a slow, slow start was able to get a win 105 to 76 at home tonight against Georgia State. It was an exciting game. One of the best crowds for a game against a non conference team that I have seen in years. Literally. I think you have to go back years to find a non conference game with this level of a crowd. It was awesome to see and not only was it a great crowd in terms of attendance, it was a great crowd in terms of sort of noise. I really, it was a cool night to watch and the Cats get a victory. That also gives us a lot to talk about. So let's just go over some things. 105, 76 Kentucky. If you look at the stats, this was a game that it was close at times but could have been lost closer. I mean, they ended up winning by 30. But Georgia State shot 52% from 3. They were 11 for 21 from 3, whereas Kentucky was 7 for 26 shooting 26%. You know, you get a 52 to 26% difference. That's usually a bad sign. But Kentucky got through it. Kentucky still shot 60% from the field, even going 7 for 26 from three. Just doing a little math here. That means that they went. I mean, think about this for a minute, Billy. By my Math, Kentucky went 33 of 41 from two in this game.
Ryan Lemon
It's impressive.
Matt Jones
Crazy.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
33 of 41 on twos this game. That's amazing. And that's how they ended up winning. You know, you can talk about the individual efforts in the game. You had six different people in double figures, led by Jackson Robinson with 19. Butler had 17. Williams, Amari Williams, who I thought wasn't great in the first half but really came on in the second Half. How about my guy, Ansley Almanor? I've been telling you about this guy Billy since. Since day. Yeah, I've been telling you to. Actually, we had seven guys in double figures. Kobe Brayer did too, but Almanor with 12, Car with 10, Bray with 10. Seven guys in double figures and Kirk Crease has one short with nine. So I'm not sure how you can have a more balanced effort, get a win. I think the big takeaway from the game will be the fight. Clash Peters, which of course Ryan on the pregame show said was his favorite player because of his name. Clash Peters started a fight. What I found interesting about it was a very cheap shot by the kid. You cannot undercut a guy when he jumps up in the air. That's how people can get really, really hurt. The whole team jumped in on it. I wouldn't have thought of Kobe Bray as the first one ready to go, but he was ended up getting a technical Mark Pope was out on the court, grabbed one of the Georgia State guys to get him to calm down. I'm still not sure how old. Clash didn't end up getting kicked out. He got a technical and a flagrant and somehow he didn't get kicked out. And the ref gave the signal to kick him out. But I guess somehow he didn't get kicked out. What I didn't know at the time is that Cherokee Parks, a lot of the older listeners here will remember Cherokee Parks played for Duke. He made Billy my list of the 10 most hated duke players.
Ryan Lemon
I remember that actually.
Matt Jones
Cherokee Parks, who people said I looked like when I was in high school and I didn't like that at all. That is Cherokee Parks. Clash Peters is Cherokee Parks nephew. You may remember if you listen to that show. A couple weeks ago before the Duke game when I was reading my all time hated Duke book, I mentioned that Cherokee Park's sister was in a punk band. Do you remember me saying that she was the lead singer of a punk band? That's his mom.
Ryan Lemon
Oh my God.
Matt Jones
That's his mom. And I can't even say on the radio what the name of the band is. I literally can't. I'm not allowed to say the name. But not only do I remember the band, they played in Lexington at Linus once and I didn't go, but I had a couple friends who did go. So Clash, Peter's mother once played punk rock at Linus in Lexington. How about that factoid tonight? Otherwise, look Kentucky 7 0. First time they've been 70 since the Fox Monk Bam. Season, which I think coincidentally is the, probably the last time Kentucky had like a national title contender teams. Some people think that the team with the tournament that got canceled by Covid, that maybe that was a title contender. I don't know, maybe. But without question the 2017 team was. And that's the last time they've been undefeated through November. But it gets hard this week. All right, it gets hard this week at Clemson, at Gonzaga. Two road games, we're going to be at one of them. I think it's going to be really interesting to see what this team does. Clemson not as good maybe as we thought they'd be, but still 6 and 1, but took a 7, a 13 point loss to Boise State. And then Gonzaga I think can be really good. Although they did lose in the Bahamas this weekend. So now Kentucky gets a chance to show off their road grit over the course of the next week. I will say, as good as this was for me, I remember two things about this game. Well, maybe three. I remember the away dunk, which was an awesome dunk reverse on the, on the run out. I will remember the fight and then I'm going to remember what happened after the game where if you didn't hear it, Mark Pope looked at the people that were left at the post game show. I saw somebody say 200, Billy. I think it was a lot more than 200. I would say more like 7 or 800. I saw them, you know, I saw the picture, it looked probably like 6 to 800. Mark Pope bought them all ice cream. He said my credit card is at the ice cream stand. Everyone can have as much free ice cream as they want going home. I mean that's a lot of ice cream. Billy, how much you think that ice cream cost? How much did the cone it cost at Rupp, the famous Taylor Bell ice cream?
Ryan Lemon
That's a great question. I'm not sure, but it's gotta be four or five bucks, right?
Matt Jones
It's more than that. I bet it's like six. You think it's five? I mean it's at Rup, so it's gonna be more six to eight. Somebody knows. You can text me 772-774-5254. Let's say that they're. Let's just say it's six dollars. If all, if 600 people got it, you know, that's 3,600.
Billy Rutledge
That's an.
Matt Jones
I mean I know he makes a lot of money, but that's a big chunk of change on ice cream. But Mark Pope said I Don't have time to sign autographs. So I'm gonna do this. I just think that's a really cool thing to do. You know, I sat here waiting for a lot of post game shows over the last few years and I heard a lot of what, what would happen. And let's just say this is so refreshing to just have a coach that's so happy with the fans. He said that Kerr Kreesa said during the timeout, look at how many people are here for a game. This happens nowhere else and it doesn't. And the energy we had at the bar before the game, it was like a football game in there. And then the, you know, this evening, tonight, the victory, just a great time. And now we get a chance to go on the road and do it twice next week. Two games that I think will be really, really interesting. I personally if we could go 1 and 1, I'll take it. Don't want to go oh and 2, 2 and O would be great. But I think if we go one and one, beat Colgate, obviously we got to beat Louisville, beat Ohio State, I mean we could go in contrary with one loss. I think that's legitimately a possibility. I don't think. I think Lowell's better than I thought they were but Ohio State might be a little worse and Clemson might be a little worse. So you know, four games I think you go three and one, you'd be pretty happy. But one of the three has to be Louisville. But they're better. They're better. They did well. I mean they lost today but they did well in the Bahamas. 859-280-2287 Text machine is 772-774-5254 we will take a break. Cats get a victory. We're going to go until little before 11:30 and then we're all going to go to bed because we got a pregame show tomorrow at 8 in the morning. Billy for the Cats and the Cards. You ready for that? Two hours?
Ryan Lemon
I'll be ready.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Somebody please get up and listen. I have a feeling that first hour is going to be like me and we're going to be hoping also it looks like Max Duffy is going to Seattle as it les Lexington Christian loses up at Peachwood so. And Douglas lost so Ryan doesn't have to fly home. So it will be a full house for the trip out west with KSR. And this is the local toy dealers KSR postgame show. Welcome back. It is the local toy dealers KSR postgame show. Georgia down 20 to 13 with just six minutes to go with their. Well, I say their playoff lives on the line. I'm not sure if that's true because Billy, like, they're still in the SEC championship either way, aren't they?
Ryan Lemon
I believe so.
Matt Jones
I think they are. So I think they could lose this game, have three losses, but they could still get in by winning the SEC championship. But this would make it to where if they lost, they couldn't get in high school games going on around the state. Like I said, Lexi Christian loss. It looks like Sarah beat Campbellsville. Actually, I'll. I'll give the other ones as I see them. I saw some stories earlier, but the rest, they've all gone away. Oh, excuse me. Christian Academy of Louisville beats Lexington Catholic. Earl Jones gets his revenge on. On Ryan Lemon. 859-280-2287. One person writes, do you think you could give me a hint of what Clash Peters mom's band's name is? I cannot. I don't think there would be any way to do it. It starts with Nashville, but I can't tell you the last word.
Ryan Lemon
And it rhymes with what?
Matt Jones
No, no, no. Don't say rhymes. Don't get. Don't just ride Ryan Lemon. Let, like, let it hang out there. Okay? Don't. Don't take a joke and knock it. It's just. It's Nashville. Nashville. Just look up punk band Nashville. Blank. I think you'll probably see it, but that is Cherokee Park, Sister and Clash. Peter's mom and I had a chance to go see them at LUS. Someone listening out there may have seen them at LUS. Ice cream cost $7. Billy.
Ryan Lemon
What? That's the biggest surprise of the night. $7.
Matt Jones
It's not crazy. Have you been to sporting events?
Ryan Lemon
Not lately. I'm stuck in the studio.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I mean, a soda is, like, eight or nine dollars, so it's not crazy that ice cream would be $7. $7. So. So that's adding up. I did that once at the bar. I was like, hey, I'll buy everybody. Voila. And then all of a sudden, you get the bill and you're like, oh, wait a minute. That's more expensive than I realized. All right, who's up first?
Ryan Lemon
Jordan.
Matt Jones
Jordan. Go ahead, Jordan.
Billy Rutledge
Hey, Matt. I thought it was great, the adversity that the team fought through with the first half and also thought it was great that Patrick Sparks was the.
Matt Jones
Why.
Billy Rutledge
Just wanted to give a shout to the guy that was there tonight. Larry the Cub with Toad Johnson and Pacon and. What do you think about the fact that the Tyson Chicken Food PR Company,/John Calipari is now writing for Sports Illustrate?
Matt Jones
Yeah, I saw that article. That was ridiculous. Appreciate the call. I, you know, I agree with you about the adversity. I mean, that it was 50. I mean, we won by. By 29. At one point. We were up by 34 and you know, we were only up 6 with 15 minutes to go. I mean, that's what's great about this team. And we won without shooting threes. I mean, we are. We only hit seven threes and two of them were at the very end. So I mean, we won this game. We took a team that I was listening to Pope say they played a style that is very rare. What was it? Driving and dunk or driving. I can't remember what he said it was, but basically that the. Their bigs come over and try to seal your man off to give layups and then put backs. And Pope says there's only a couple teams that play it and yet we outscored them by 40 in. We outscored him by 40 in the paint. So I mean, that's a really good and encouraging sign for this offense. Win a lot of different ways. That's what I think that's what you want to see. By the way, I am. I am amazingly excited about this team. And as I talked about on the pregame show, I mean, I've watched now the best teams in the country all play and I think we look like we can compete with any of them this next weekend. This next week, though, is going to tell me, like, do I ramp up the excitement from this is going to be a good year to. Okay, like, what are the prices in San Antonio, Billy? Like. Like this is the week. Not that we have to win both games, but we win one and then Gonzaga is a game with two or three minutes to go. We might be looking like, all right, is the river walk fun in San Antonio? You know, because San Antonio is one of the biggest cities in America I've never been to. We're going to go to one of them on this trip, Portland. I've never been there and I've never been to San Antonio. This would be a nice time. Time to go. Who's next?
Ryan Lemon
Jonathan.
Matt Jones
Jonathan. Go ahead, Jonathan. Touchdown, Georgia Tech. Wow. Georgia is going to go down at home to Georgia Tech. Go ahead.
Billy Rutledge
Let's go. All right, so two quick things. One, I've just noticed, like since Pope has come here, my expectations have raised so much as far as execution. Like, anytime we have a possession where we get a mid range jump shot or a contested shot. Like I'm frustrated. And that was just kind of the norm under Cal.
Matt Jones
No, you're right. Like it's like you go, wait a minute, what are we doing? We're supposed to do a three year layup. You're exactly right. Doesn't happen a lot though, right? Yeah.
Billy Rutledge
So I think that's great that he's changed that culture. And then too, I think Pope's like a really intentional guy as far as leadership in psychology. And if you already said this, sorry, I may have missed the intro, but you know why he went after like number seven of the other team to pull him away in that skirmish, you.
Matt Jones
Know, I don't know. I think, yeah, I don't know. I mean, I think maybe that was just where he was the closest. I'm not sure. Maybe he thought seven was the most angry. I don't think it was intentionally like I'm going to go after the other team. I think maybe he just ran. Natural instinct to break it up. But, but I don't know. I mean it is, it's, it's rare to see a coach grab another team's player. And I think coaches don't like when other coaches do that. But I also didn't see the Georgia State coach mad because probably because he's like, well, I can't be mad at Mark Pope. So, so, so I don't read much into it, honestly.
Billy Rutledge
Okay. All right, thanks.
Matt Jones
Appreciate the call. I did read something into those threes at the end. You know, there's a lot of people, Billy, who maybe had some, some dollars on the cats to cover. They probably thought they had no chance at it. And then we hit it and then Kerr jacked up those threes at the end and they ended it and they ended up covering. We didn't cover the spread. They ended up actually doing. So that was a tough break if you had Kentucky tonight.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah, I guess he was going for a thousand points on his.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I didn't know that. So I guess so when you hear the story, I, when I saw him shoot it three straight times without passing, I was like, what are you doing, man? But then I guess he was at 997 points. He needed three more for a thousand. And his family is here from Estonia, so I think, I guess he wanted to hit it that have been while they were here. And so that. I think that makes it completely justifiable. But there was a little ball hoggishness there at the end. It was kind of like playing with Billy and pickup. Like he was like cross half court and it goes up brick. That's. That's the Billy Rutledge experience as well.
Ryan Lemon
Oh, is that right?
Matt Jones
Yeah, that's what I hear. I mean, we haven't played, but I mean, I hear it. Who's next?
Ryan Lemon
Jeff.
Matt Jones
Jeff. Go ahead, Jeff.
Billy Rutledge
Hey, Matt. Stephen Barstow. How are you doing tonight?
Matt Jones
Good. What's up? Nothing much.
Billy Rutledge
I got two quick things. First thing is I'm ready to say Lamont Butler is the best point guard in the country, especially defensively.
Matt Jones
Defensively, he is a beast. And I mean, he. He never gives the opposing point guard, like, anything. He never, never gives them a break.
Billy Rutledge
All right, my second thing really quickly is with our non conference schedule, the rest of it clearing out with the opponents kind of shaping up in our favor, what keeps you from saying we could go undefeated in December?
Matt Jones
I mean, nothing. I mean, just. Well, I mean, I guess I. It's possible. If I were to say, like, what makes. What keeps me from thinking it just numbers. I mean, you're playing four difficult games. Two of them are on the road, one of them is on a neutral site, only one's at home. Just feel like you probably stumble. One of them. But like, is it crazy to win them all? No. I mean, if I were to rank them in difficulty, I would say the two next week are the hardest. Gonzaga one, then at Clemson. And then I guess I would say. I guess I'd say Louisville just because I think they can get. If, you know, if they. If they were to hit threes. I think they shoot a lot of threes. I don't know if they make a lot, but. And then I guess Ohio State. But all four of those games are winnable. Three of them, you're going to be the favorite. And I doubt we're the favorite at Gonzaga.
Billy Rutledge
But I. Pretty much across the board there also. I can't stand the media love for Louisville right now, but that'll be a great game.
Matt Jones
Well, I mean, look, they deserve it. They've been awful. I mean, awful. I appreciate the call for three years. So, I mean, I get them being excited and I hate that their dude got hurt today. I mean, that they had. The guy I said looked like Pete Davidson Prior, I think is his name. He got hurt today and it looked bad. I hope he's not out for the year. Seriously. I said that. But I mean it, like that would stink because he's. He's played well and you know, they're going to. They're going to be competitive. I wasn't sure after the Tennessee game if they would, but they're going to be competitive. They beat, I mean, poor good Indiana. Good grief. Lost by 30 to them. But they didn't. They lost Oklahoma. Today. Here I saw a stat that I didn't realize. Billy, Louisville has had five coaches since Rick Patino. Did you know that?
Ryan Lemon
I. Now, now that you say that, I wouldn't.
Matt Jones
Okay, well, so let me do this. Let's. Let's try. Let's try something here.
Ryan Lemon
Okay?
Matt Jones
Can you name the five Louisville head coaches since Rick Patino? And by the way, they've each coached at least 18 games. So it's not like a dude who just coached one game. Well, okay, one of them hasn't coached 18 yet. But, like, how much can you name the coaches? I just gave you a hint for one.
Ryan Lemon
David Padgett.
Matt Jones
David Padgett.
Ryan Lemon
Chris Mack.
Matt Jones
Chris Mack.
Ryan Lemon
Pat Kelsey.
Matt Jones
Pat Kelsey.
Ryan Lemon
Kenny Payne.
Matt Jones
Kenny Payne. Now, can you name the fifth?
Ryan Lemon
Yeah, he was the interim guy. I can't think of his name, though.
Matt Jones
I. Here's what's crazy. This guy coached Louisville for 18 games and I don't know that I ever heard his name spoken because I'm not sure I can even pronounce it.
Ryan Lemon
Was it like Pegasus or something like that?
Matt Jones
Nice job, Mike. P E G U E S. Oh, is that Pegis? Pegis, Yeah. I had no idea that that dude coached Louisville. And he coached Louisville for 18 games.
Ryan Lemon
Was that after Mac?
Matt Jones
That was when Mack was forced to resign after the whole. Dino Gaudio who ended up going to prison.
Ryan Lemon
I never saw that. Actually, I think he did.
Matt Jones
And I know Dino was like a nice guy, but Mike Pegis, what a global coach no one will ever remember. Who's next?
Ryan Lemon
Joey.
Matt Jones
Joey. You think they put him on the highlight video on the Geese when they do it. Joey. Go ahead, Joey.
Billy Rutledge
Hey, what's up, Matt? Second time, long time.
Matt Jones
What's up?
Billy Rutledge
Hey, what's up? I have a two questions and then one second question to the second question. Does it make you nervous at all with these men? Major teams we're playing that we haven't played as hard as we have the first three or four teams.
Matt Jones
No.
Billy Rutledge
And my second question is, I mean.
Matt Jones
There'S no team that plays all the time, 100% effort.
Billy Rutledge
And everybody that plays Kentucky plays their, like their super bowl.
Matt Jones
And we still won by 30. Like, that's another thing to remember. We still won by 30. Like, I mean, it feel this. If this was a game that would have been like an eight point game a few years ago, we won by 30. So. So, yeah, I mean, the first half was disappointing, but I mean, think about this. It was disappointing. We still scored 48 points or 45 or whatever it was. Right. So, you know, so I could only be so disappointed. What was your second question?
Billy Rutledge
And my second question is, do you think that Cutter Bowler is going to throw over 200 yards? And if he throws over 200 yards, do we have a victory?
Matt Jones
And that's all I got good questions. You know, I don't know. I'm going to say no because I think they're going to run the ball a lot. I think if they do. The thing is, I think if they do, we probably win. But there's also a world where we do because we're behind and we throw the ball a lot. I don't have a good feeling about tomorrow. I'm going to be honest with you. I talked about it on fade this. You'll hear me say it on the pregame tomorrow. I don't like the vibes around the team right now. I don't like the stuff I'm hearing. I just. I just don't feel good about it. So this will probably be the first time. Well, I guess I picked Louisville last year, but I think everybody did. But I may. I probably will pick Louisville tomorrow. I just, I don't. I just don't like where. What I'm. What I'm hearing, so. But you know, hopefully I'm wrong. I'd love to be wrong. I was wrong last year and I was very happy about it. So. 859-280-2287. Let's do one more and we'll take a break. Who's next?
Ryan Lemon
Alan.
Matt Jones
Alan. Go ahead, Alan.
Billy Rutledge
Hey, Matt. First time, long time.
Matt Jones
Who. What's up?
Billy Rutledge
Not much. I'm gonna just say I'm a little fan. I listen to you. My dad's a decent ticket holder.
Matt Jones
And season ticket holder. Your dad season old ticket holder for Louisville or Kentucky?
Billy Rutledge
For Kentucky football.
Matt Jones
Okay, so you're a Louisville fan, but your dad's a season ticket holder on Kentucky. All right, go ahead.
Billy Rutledge
Yeah, correct. And I've waited what, about seven years now I'm gonna. After tomorrow's ass kicking we give y'all, I'm gonna smoke a cigar in his face.
Matt Jones
In your dad's face?
Billy Rutledge
In my dad's face.
Matt Jones
That doesn't seem very nice though. I mean, he's. He's your father. You don't want to smoke a cig scar in his Face.
Billy Rutledge
Oh, he's repped it in enough for me. I'm gonna do it to him.
Matt Jones
So what does he do? What does he do to you when we've won? Because we've won. What? We've won five straight football games. We've won, what, seven straight basketball games. So what. What does he do to you after those?
Billy Rutledge
No, it's just awful, man. The Will Levis, the L's down. Y'all started all that. It's all else down and I'm just tired of it, man.
Matt Jones
Well, I hope you don't get a chance to do it. Just out of curiosity, if your dad was a Kentucky fan, how did you end up being Darth Vader and going to the dark side?
Billy Rutledge
Well, they tried. They tried at a young age to raise me on the. On the blue side, but I chose Rick Patino, to be honest.
Matt Jones
So you chose a life of misery instead of happiness?
Billy Rutledge
Well, I'll choose Rick Patino over everything.
Matt Jones
All right, well, there are other people who've made that mistake, but. I understand. But listen, I wish. I wish you luck tomorrow, but not too much luck. And either way, call the post game show, all right? Because I want to hear if you actually do or if your dad gets to mock you again.
Billy Rutledge
All right.
Ryan Lemon
Appreciate.
Matt Jones
Appreciate the call. Seems like a very well adjusted household there of cigar smoke blowing in the face. Georgia scored quickly, so it's just seven points. Georgia Tech's gonna need a first down or Georgia will have a chance to tie the game. This would be a brutal loss for Georgia if they scored. Georgia Tech, if they score late and then are not able to win. Let's see the pass. Oh, nope. And it's incomplete. No, he caught it. Oh. But just short of the first down. So a third one coming up. If Georgia Tech gets it, it's gonna. It's gonna be hard for Georgia to win. We'll take a break and be right back. This is the local Toyota dealers, KSR post game show. Welcome back. It is the local toy dealers KSR postgame show. All right, I'm gonna give you the thing. I'm going to rank what people get crazy angry about Billy, in order of, like, how much they get angry or just. Or just at life, but vis a vis how much they should. Okay, okay. In third place is. In third place is. UK UofL. Okay. UK UofL people, that guy without standing, they get really angry about. And we're in that time. Like, if we lose tomorrow, Billy, I just stay off the phone.
Ryan Lemon
Oh, yeah. Get ready for it.
Matt Jones
Right like, you just stay off. Like it's. Number two is politics. People somehow believe that if I tweet something about politics, that that will swing the election. And so they get very angry and they yell at me and they think like they're solving the nation's problems by yelling at me. But number one, in terms of sheer amount of anger that is crazy in proportion to how much it should be is when we pick against a high school football team.
Ryan Lemon
I've seen some of that backlash when.
Matt Jones
We pick our games, and it's clear if you listen to our high school picks, that only Ryan has any notion of any of it. Right. We don't know what we're doing. We don't know these teams. We don't know this game. We have no idea. But people get so angry. So there are Sare fans just absolutely going crazy because we picked Campbellsville and Sarah one. Right?
Ryan Lemon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
So that I think is very funny to me the way how angry people are. So congratulations to Sare.
Ryan Lemon
All the bulletin board material you're giving out there across dude bulletin board.
Matt Jones
Like in all the. In all the locker rooms. Paducah Tillman, by the way, the Fighting Chattanooga, as Ryan called them, beat Corbin as well today. They'll be in the state championship game. Cooper beat Highlands. Poor Corbin. I guess all the raceland won, though. So we will have one mountain team playing for a state championship. That Georgia Tech got the first down, Billy, but fumbled it after they got the. All you had to do was fall down. Could have been fumbled it. And now Georgia has a chance to tie it up. And they'll win if they do. Unbelievable. Georgia can still get the game boy living on borrowed time. Who's next?
Ryan Lemon
Chris.
Matt Jones
Chris. Go ahead, Chris.
Billy Rutledge
Hey. Hey, Matt. First time, long time who are like, I. I just want to appreciate the maturity of our basketball team. They, like, clearly can handle incidents and, you know, collect themselves and, you know, just move on. You know, not.
Matt Jones
It was clearly. It was clear that fight kind of what it got us going. It was a six point game. It was a six point game on that. Oh, well, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Billy Rutledge
Definitely, like, yeah, no, no, I thought that was great. My other point was, you need to move the site over to Blue Sky. Like, Blue sky is a social media site that, you know, is less toxic.
Matt Jones
Yeah, people tell me that, and I. And I probably at some point will create an account there. But the problem is there are so many accounts now, and I spent many years building that Twitter one up, and it's kind of like. Like it's kind of Like I feel like head basketball coaches. Elon will give it up at some point. Right. Like, and you know, okay, I say about basketball and football coaches, you know, I was here longer than they were and I've been on Twitter 2011 and so I don't want to give up that whole following just because it's. But, but you. But I probably will end up at some point going on. Is it called Blue Sky?
Billy Rutledge
Yeah, Blue sky.
Matt Jones
All right.
Billy Rutledge
Yeah, like it's, you know, it's just, you know, just easy.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Billy Rutledge
Thanks.
Matt Jones
Appreciate the call. I just learned tick tock. Really. And now they want me to go on another site.
Ryan Lemon
Oh, you can have Mario post for you.
Matt Jones
I went and got on threads and now the only thing on there are like it's now that's all porn bots too. Billy.
Ryan Lemon
I never did that one. That ended.
Matt Jones
I did it one day. I think everybody did it for one day and then they never went back. But so I don't know how many of these I'm supposed to do. What's next, Kate? Kate, Go ahead, Kate.
Billy Rutledge
Hey there.
Matt Jones
What's going on, Kate?
Billy Rutledge
All right, first time, 99 year time.
Matt Jones
Quick question.
Billy Rutledge
One about basketball bomb. Okay, what do you predict for our end of this year? So end of December, second question. I'm going to do these real quick, so I want you to answer them all at the same time. How's the cooking going? Because I'm a retired chef and I see you and I don't see you cooking.
Matt Jones
I'm starting after our trip. I haven't started yet. I'm going to start after our trip. I didn't want to start and then stop. So when we get back from our trip, I'm starting.
Billy Rutledge
We're going to keep you an honest man on that one.
Matt Jones
Okay, I will.
Billy Rutledge
Go ahead with the basketball.
Matt Jones
Okay. I appreciate the call the record at the end of December. Well, we'll have finished all of our non conference games, so that's 13 games. I'm going to say 12 and 1. I thought it would actually be like 10 and 3 or 11 and 2, but I'm gonna go ahead and say 12 and 1. I think we'll drop one of these probably one next week. Either the Clemson or the Gonzaga game. But I'm gonna say we go 12 and 1 and then in the SEC play, man, I don't know because it's. The league is gonna be so hard. I mean, you know, Billy, top five next week. Four of them may be SEC teams.
Ryan Lemon
Wow. And the Oklahoma.
Matt Jones
Oklahoma just won the Bahamas thing. Ole Miss nearly won their tournament, lost in overtime to Purdue. Florida beat a team by like beat wichita State by 40 today. A and M, I think is undefeated. Like, it's crazy. The SEC is going to be so good. You know, you could go in the SEC in 18 games. You could go 10 and eight and still be really good. 11 and seven, you know it's going to be. I mean Oklahoma was projected 15th in the league and they just won the battle for Atlantis. The bad boy mowers battle.
Ryan Lemon
Oh, bad boys.
Matt Jones
Who's next?
Ryan Lemon
Todd.
Matt Jones
Todd. What's up, Todd? Hey, Matt George is about to score here. Touchdown. They did score. They'll probably. Should they kick the extra point here, you think? Or do you think they go for two?
Billy Rutledge
I said no, I say kick the extra point.
Matt Jones
Yeah, you're at home, you're the better team. You kick the extra point. That's what they're doing. Go ahead. Right. I was going to say with this.
Billy Rutledge
Poor three point shooting we had tonight and still score 105 points.
Matt Jones
That is amazing. Amazing. You're exactly right. Amazing score. 105 points, 33 twos, 33 of 41 from 2. That's. That's an unheard of percentage. I mean what is that? That's, that's almost. That's over 80% from 2. 80%?
Billy Rutledge
Yep.
Matt Jones
And I wanted to say something about our defense on the inside. It seems like we let them back into us, back us into the basket.
Billy Rutledge
I don't know if that what you would do about that or what.
Matt Jones
You know what I'm talking about. No, I think you're right. So I think, I think if you look at it, this is just my take on it. I think Amari Williams and Car and Garrison didn't play tonight, but Amari Williams and Carr are the guys that let sort of let that happen the most. But I think if you look at the show shot the guy ends up getting more often than not, the guy ends up with a contested shot that rarely goes in. Right. So even if it's four feet, I mean it's one thing to have a four or five footer, it's another thing to shoot it over a guy that's six eleven with a seven foot five, you know, wingspan. Like I think that makes it so I think that's probably part of it. Rather than foul them 10ft from the basket, say, all right, you try to shoot over me.
Billy Rutledge
Yeah, I just, I just hope we're able to stop that.
Matt Jones
And Auburn looked awesome. Oh yeah. They're the best team I think in the country right now. I mean, to me, to me, if I were doing, and I appreciate the call, if I were doing the top 25, I'd go Auburn one, Kansas two. And then, honestly, if you're talking about who they've beaten, probably us three now, they'll probably put Tennessee three and US four. But if you just talk about who we beaten, we've beaten Duke. Now they play. Tennessee plays well, they play North Carolina. But Auburn and Duke is. Is this week. What's interesting about these ACC teams, like take Duke, Duke plays Auburn. And they've had probably the hardest schedule to start the season of anybody. They've had Kansas, they've had Kentucky, Auburn, Arizona. But from now on, Billy, they don't play anybody except North Carolina. Like, nobody in the. Nobody in the ACC is good except them.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah. So you think Kentucky might be.
Matt Jones
So like, think about. Well, I think what's going to be interesting, the acc, you know, has always been considered, understandably the. This tough test. I don't know if that's true this year. I think Duke. You could make a strong argument that Duke is going to play its three hardest games in the first four weeks of the season.
Ryan Lemon
Hmm.
Matt Jones
Us, Auburn and Kansas, you know, because North Carolina, I'm not sure how good they are. And the rest of the acc, I don't know if anybody's good.
Ryan Lemon
What about Clemson?
Matt Jones
Well, I mean, we'll see. We'll find out Tuesday. You know, they lost by 13 to Boise State, which is a weird loss. But, you know, we might find out Tuesday that they're a lot better than. We'll see. I don't know. We'll find out. Who's next.
Ryan Lemon
Caleb.
Matt Jones
Caleb. Go ahead, Caleb.
Billy Rutledge
Hey, Matt. Previous caller. Kind of took my thought, but I will say it's just nice to have like the excitement around. Around the program. This is a game against Georgia State on Black Friday and man, was that crowd into it. It was so nice to see. Obviously Clash Peters kind of gave us something to cheer against, but that was fun. And then the other thing was, I'm just really glad at how player led this team is with the Duke being at halftime getting the players to say what's going on? And then today with Kurt Krisa kind of getting the guys together and just rallying them around. I just. It's really cool to see. And then before I get off here, I'll just say, can you imagine our previous coach buying everyone ice cream?
Matt Jones
I could. Early in his time. I could not have late in his time. You know, I mean that if I'm being honest. Early in the Cal era. Yes, he would have done something like that by the end. No, and I appreciate the call. I mean, I always think when you talk about Cal, you have to talk about pre, pre, and post Covid. Cow. Because pre Covid, Cal. I really don't think you could have had many complaints with the way he dealt with fans. You know, he was a little obnoxious with the whole basketball bennies, but I always kind of thought it was, like, out of love. And then I thought post Covid, it kind of became out of anger and frustration. But, yeah, early in this time, I could have. But, you know, Mark's hitting all the right notes, and it's fun. I mean, tonight. Tonight was an amazing crowd. Not just in attendance, which was great, but also in, like. Like, energy and excitement. I mean, the fans were. The fans were into it. I mean, the bar today, I. When I got there, I got there 30 minutes for a pregame show, and I couldn't believe how many people were there. This was a great, great atmosphere. 859-280-2287. Let's do one more, and we'll take a break. Who's next?
Ryan Lemon
Gatlin.
Matt Jones
Gatlin. What's up, Gatlin, boys?
Billy Rutledge
First time, long time.
Matt Jones
Hua. How old are you, Gatlin? 14, 13 and 12. Go ahead.
Billy Rutledge
I was at the game today. I thought it was really cool that we had seven players and double figures. And I thought Kobe Braya had a really good defensive game, even though he didn't get as many threes. Just shoot or shoot. I have one question.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Billy Rutledge
If the NCAA tournament started today, how far do you think we would go?
Matt Jones
Yeah. Well, Gatlin, I appreciate the call. I would say if the tournament started today, if it started today, I think we'd be a one seed, which is kind of awesome. And, yeah, I mean, I think we're. I'd have us as an elite eight team and then see what the matchup is in the. In the Elite Eight. I mean, I think this team's good now. I mean, it's. You know, it's tough because if we're objective, they've only played one really good team. That's going to change here in a few weeks, so we're going to have a lot better chance to kind of know and decide. But, yeah, you know, I'm Gatlin. I'm a. I'm a fan of what we've done so far, so I think you got to be. You got to be excited. All right, so What? Appreciate the call. What would you do right here if you're. If you're Georgia Tech, it's fourth and.
Ryan Lemon
One, not what Louisville did a couple weeks ago.
Matt Jones
There's seven seconds to go, right? So fourth and one. You got a decent kicker, but you're probably too far to kick, so. But if you don't get this first down, you'll give Georgia a chance at a Hail Mary. So what are you doing?
Ryan Lemon
You got to do a Hail Mary with the concept of running around for a couple seconds.
Matt Jones
Wait a minute. Why are you going to do the Hail Mary? You can get 10 yards and you're in field goal range and you have a timeout.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah, but then you're doing a quick play and you could not get it. And then, then they have the ball.
Matt Jones
Well, but they, but they. That they'd have to. They'd have to throw a Hail Mary when you like. So. So you're. You're throwing the Hail Mary. You're not going to try to get in field goal range?
Ryan Lemon
Yeah, I'm putting zeros on the clock after this.
Matt Jones
Part of it depends on how good your kicker is. I don't know how good this kid is.
Ryan Lemon
They're showing highlights of him missing the extra point. It looks like.
Matt Jones
Yeah, he missed. It looks like he missed an extra point earlier in the game. But if you think your kicker's good, like if it was Kentucky in this situation, then I would. I would try to throw a quick pass. You got. You can use the whole field because you have a timeout and that would leave Georgia with one play. They would only have a chance to throw a Hail Mary and you just hope you defend it well.
Ryan Lemon
Is it Brock or is it Cutter back there?
Matt Jones
Well, I mean, I guess it's because it matters.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Ryan Lemon
I feel more confident than if it's Cutter.
Matt Jones
We'll see. All right, we'll let you know when we come back. 859-280-2287. I think they should go for it, but throw a short pass. We'll find out what they do right after this. It's a local toy dealers KSR post game show. Well, they did what I suggested, which was throw, but then he got knocked down. The line of scrimmage. Dude was open too. So Georgia, we'll get a chance. We'll find out if they screwed up. I like that play call, though. That's what you ought to do. You just can't throw it against the Georgia guys hands. All right, so here are your state finals, Billy. You give me the Billy, early pick. I'll wait and pick it.
Ryan Lemon
Oh, now I'll be the controversial one.
Matt Jones
You. You do have the early pick. We'll give our picks this week. Friday a a title. Sarah and Raceland. Who you got? Sarah didn't even have a football program eight years ago.
Ryan Lemon
I'm going Chad, Pennington and Sare to get the victory here.
Matt Jones
Dude, this is mountain versus Rich. You take Mountain every time. Come on. I got a lot of friends with Sarah connections but. And I love the coaching staff, but this is the mountain. These are Raceland. These are boys from the hills.
Ryan Lemon
Billy, sounds like you're already on Sayers basketball.
Matt Jones
You think they're scared of all these kids? All the Rich Sayre kids say is good though. I don't know. Could go either way. Owensboro Catholic and Beachwood.
Ryan Lemon
I gotta go Beachwood. They've been dominant, haven't they? I mean it's like their eighth straight title or something like that. Title game. That is so Beachwood.
Matt Jones
I'm taking Owensboro Catholic. They're good this year. Tillman. Why am I telling you? I'm supposed to be saving mine. Sorry, Tillman. Franklin County.
Ryan Lemon
I don't know about this one, so do not be upset other fan bases, but I'll go Tillman here.
Matt Jones
Christian Academy of Louisville versus Union County. Union county, always known for its wrestling. I don't know if they've even made the state football before. Maybe they have, but. Christian Academy, Louisville, the Fighting Earl Joneses, who you got?
Ryan Lemon
Yeah, yeah. Allegiance with Earl Jones here. Cal. Okay, done.
Matt Jones
You gonna do with.
Ryan Lemon
All right.
Matt Jones
Ry. Ry up in Northern Kentucky versus Trinity. Trinity down year for Trinity. They still might win the state championship.
Ryan Lemon
Who you got? Yeah, I'll never pick Trinity, so give me Ryle.
Matt Jones
Oh, wow. You don't like Trinity?
Ryan Lemon
No.
Matt Jones
Why don't you like Trinity?
Ryan Lemon
Personal reasons.
Matt Jones
Personal reasons. We. Oh, wait a minute. Fumble. All right, so they're going to overtime in Georgia. Cooper and Bowling Green.
Ryan Lemon
Oh, this. This is tough. Spent a lot of time in Bowling Green, but I'm going Cooper. I'm actually going to guarantee a Cooper win in that game.
Matt Jones
Are you guaranteeing the Cooper win? They've got that quarterback that's so good, right?
Ryan Lemon
Yes.
Matt Jones
And the best quarterback in the state.
Ryan Lemon
And the quarterback's coach was my former podcast host. His name was Billy as well.
Matt Jones
Oh, well, that's why you're excited about him. Well, good luck to to your Billy. Who's up next?
Ryan Lemon
All right, let's go to Dave.
Matt Jones
Dave. Go ahead. Dave.
Billy Rutledge
Hey, Matt Jones. How's it going?
Matt Jones
Brother, what's going on?
Billy Rutledge
I. Oh, sorry. First time, long time, who are. All right, so just a couple of points. I thought Butler really did an awesome job of keeping us in the game whenever it was early and we was kind of struggling a little bit. And then also I think Kobe, Kobe, Brya, like even though he wasn't hitting his shots, like he did a lot of just everything else, you know, he's playing pretty good defense. He got a couple blocks, you know. And then I had one question on the football side.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Billy Rutledge
All right. So Stoops if I remember from the morning broadcast, early in the year after the vacated losses from the 10 win season, he lost the all time winning record.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Billy Rutledge
So I don't know. Did, did he overtake that again at this point?
Matt Jones
I think he did, yeah. I think because he passed it last year when we beat Youngstown State, which was early in the year, and then we went ahead and won another like five games. Well, you know what? He may not have. Actually, it might be. He might have to win tomorrow to pass it, actually. I don't know for sure, but it might literally be tomorrow that he would do it if he won.
Billy Rutledge
All right, so to my point, like do you think or how do I say this, you think that would be a factor in him coming back or leaving?
Matt Jones
No, I don't.
Billy Rutledge
To me, I would want to leave as the all time winning as coach.
Matt Jones
No. Yeah, I don't think that's going to have anything to do with it. You know, I. Everyone tells me and I appreciate the call, everyone tells me that he'll be back. Everyone that would know thinks he's going to come back. There are a lot of people that tell me he's almost more resolute to come back now than at any point in the last year. I mean, I thought a month ago he was probably not going to come back. I don't know what the change is. I think there's a lot. Part of why I'm not confident about tomorrow is I just have heard a lot of stuff that I just don't like the vibes. And I think we will find out a lot over the next five to six days. And I don't know what's going to happen. I really don't. I mean it's. What, what is it? It's Friday night, next Friday when we are in probably Boise, Idaho and we're doing a show. I think the Kentucky football program could look drastically different than it does right now. And I think it could be in many different directions. Like Many different directions, many different coaches, many different players. I mean, the whole program could look 10 different ways next Friday. And I don't know what's going to happen. And I think part of it depends on what happens tomorrow. So when we do this post game show tomorrow, like it could go a lot of different directions based on what happens tomorrow. So if we win, I plan on doing the post game show probably at the bar. If we lose, I'm probably not because I think those are two different conversations based on whether we win and lose and how much. It's just going to be. Tomorrow is a huge, huge day for the future of UK football all around. Not just on the field, but everywhere. And I don't know what's going to happen. I'll be honest, be fascinating though. Who's next?
Billy Rutledge
Bill?
Matt Jones
Bill. Go ahead, Bill.
Billy Rutledge
Hey, Matt, I got a question and a comment, please. Wasn't there a commentator for ESPN that goes crazy for the ice cream cones?
Matt Jones
Yeah, that's Jay Bill.
Billy Rutledge
Am I imagining that?
Matt Jones
Yeah, Jay Bill as he loves the ice cream. Yeah.
Billy Rutledge
Do you think Mark Pope would ever buy if he heard Jay Billis wanted an ice cream cone? Do you think he would be that kind of guy? Like I think he would buy Jay Billets and ice cream cone. Just be nice.
Matt Jones
Of course. Yeah, of course he would. He also, they give it to Jay Bill. It's usually for the publicity. But yes, he certainly would.
Billy Rutledge
Okay. My comment was if you ever do decide to go to Blue sky, apparently someone has already squatted over your handle that you would use on Twitter.
Matt Jones
I heard that. I heard that. Yeah. I'd probably pick another one. But you know, that's what, that's another, that's another thing. Somebody, I mean, people tell me it's so much nicer. Somebody already took the name I would use over there. So what am I supposed to do? I mean, you know, I mean, I'm.
Billy Rutledge
Young, I'm young brands over there. So I mean you gotta get them when you can.
Matt Jones
Wait a minute. You. You took Young Brands Blue sky count?
Billy Rutledge
Sure, why not?
Matt Jones
Well, now you see why.
Billy Rutledge
I mean, it was there.
Matt Jones
All right.
Billy Rutledge
Well, I mean, but at least I didn't take your name.
Matt Jones
Well, that's true. But you did the same thing somebody did to me.
Billy Rutledge
Well, I mean, they got more money than you do, I would assume.
Matt Jones
Well, thanks a lot.
Billy Rutledge
All right.
Matt Jones
I appreciate the. Appreciate the call, smart guy.
Ryan Lemon
They can buy it.
Matt Jones
Is that smart? I don't feel like that's smart. I feel like, like, like people would want to like if they Want to hear from yum brands. Don't they want to know it's young brands and not that guy?
Ryan Lemon
Yeah, that's why they got to pay up. So they get their name correct. I don't. I don't make the rules. We just follow them, you know?
Matt Jones
Well, you know, when it was the Internet, you weren't. You're not. You know, you're not allowed to do that with domain names.
Ryan Lemon
What's that?
Matt Jones
Like, if you squat on a domain name, there's a. There's a law that basically can allow someone to get it if you get bored someday. Well, you're a Tampa Bay Bucks fan, right? The famous case on this is about Warren Sapp, love. There was a guy, just a regular guy, who was named Warren Sapp, and he, in the early days of the Internet, bought warrensapp.com and I'm not kidding you. And then Warren Sapp, the football player was like, I want Warren Sapp dot com. He buy it from this other dude named Warren. The guy said no. And they went to court, and Warren Sapp argued. Look, when the general public wants to find out about Warren Sapp, they don't want to just see this dude, you know, in Minnesota. And the court ruled for football player Warren Sapp. He got the side.
Ryan Lemon
Was the other Warren Sapp, like, making content, doing anything with the website?
Matt Jones
No. He was hoping one day the football player Warren Sapp would pay.
Ryan Lemon
Oh, okay. See, I.
Matt Jones
And the. And basically, they said it's in the public's interest if Warren Sapp.com is the Warren SAP. People want to know, not just you.
Ryan Lemon
Hmm.
Matt Jones
But that doesn't yet apply to social media, so.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah, I don't like that. Yeah, but.
Matt Jones
But then you'd want a rule where everybody just buys up everybody's names.
Ryan Lemon
They already do it with houses. And then I can't buy a house nowadays because all the bots are buying houses.
Matt Jones
That has nothing to do with what we're talking about. Houses. There's an infinite supply of houses. There's not an infinite supply of domain names.
Ryan Lemon
Apples and oranges, Matt.
Matt Jones
Okay, thank you, Billy. Four more. Who's next? Jordan, there's your. There's your legal issue for the day, Jordan. Go ahead, Jordan.
Billy Rutledge
Hey, Matt. How are you?
Matt Jones
I'm good.
Billy Rutledge
So I want to point out one thing. So I was blessed to be able to go to the game the past two games, about three hours early to get myself prepared to present the American flag for the game. The one thing that I noticed through the presentation of everything, Lamont Butler Gets out on the court about three hours early. There's nobody else out there with him. He's the only person out there on the court that's a true leader. That kid is awesome. He's. I mean, you can't beat a leader like that. Like, he's out there by himself, himself just shooting threes. He's got somebody back out there, you know, pass the ball back to him, shooting a shot, getting the shots up. Travis Perry is always the next person to come out about an hour later. And then after that, the rest of the team comes out and just warms up. I really love that out of a leader. I just wanted to give a shout out to Lamont Butler for that because that's awesome.
Matt Jones
I didn't know that. That's good to know. I appreciate the call. Over the years, you know, there are guys I go back to. The first person I remember that would do that consistently was Brandon Knight. He was always the first guy out his year. And it's usually the case that the first guy out tends to be one of your hardest workers and your leaders. So it's, it's cool to see that Lamont Butler is that as well. Georgia scored, so now Georgia Tech has a chance. They already have a false start. I mean, like, there's zero chance Georgia Tech scores here, right?
Ryan Lemon
Yeah, probably.
Matt Jones
They gave up a 14 point lead. Like, this is going to be one of the great, you know, losses in Georgia Tech history. But they're, they're, they're losing this game. Who's next?
Ryan Lemon
Jake.
Matt Jones
Jake. Go ahead, Jake.
Billy Rutledge
Hey, Matt. He's on our way home from the game tonight. Got seats in the eruption zone. First time ever. It was great, but heard the Louisville caller call in and actually I work with Allen and I'm pretty sure his hatred of UK stems for me just a little bit. So. Last year he gave me crap all year leading up to the UK football game last year. So when we won, I went into where we were and I posted signs all over the building everywhere he went. Blurred the UK fight song over the loudspeakers and gave him crap for a month. So I gotta get a shout out.
Matt Jones
So you think if so, but. So you think you made him so mad that he's gonna blow cigar smoke in his dad's face?
Billy Rutledge
Oh, most definitely. I give him crap every time we beat them in the last. I've been with, working with him for three or four years now. Oh, yeah, every time we win.
Matt Jones
So you've got, you've got him a bunch of times. Two Times a year. Well, I hope you get him tomorrow. I'm a, I'm a little concerned about it, but I hope you get him tomorrow.
Billy Rutledge
I'm gonna bring him some mayonnaise.
Matt Jones
All right, thank you. Appreciate it. We'll do three more. By the way, I. Tomorrow we open at nine at the bar, but our pregame show starts at eight, so you can turn it on to listen at eight. I'll talk a lot more about the football stuff tomorrow that I was talking about a minute ago during the pregame show. And then if you come to the bar there, my manager will not allow me to let you in. I was like, can we have people come in? And she was like, no. And I guess, you know, money, I guess Billy, she's the guest in charge, so I have to, I have to listen. She said no. So we will open the doors at 9 o'clock. We are having serving breakfast though, so it should be good. Who's next?
Ryan Lemon
Landon.
Matt Jones
Landon. Go ahead, Landon.
Billy Rutledge
Hey, what's up, Matt?
Matt Jones
What's going on?
Billy Rutledge
Just wanted to tell the fan base to enjoy the wins and want to ask you a question. How do you think we can keep balancing Kentucky's success without pinning the issues on Cal? Like the past two slow starts, everybody saying, oh, Kyle wouldn't have won that game.
Ryan Lemon
You know, how do we as a.
Billy Rutledge
Fan base try and move past them, Enjoy this time we're in right now.
Matt Jones
It'll happen after this year. I mean, you can't, you know, that's like saying to people, like, it's just not human nature. Okay? Like it's not human nature when there's a rivalry to not for some time period, compare what is happening with what was happening. I think after this year that will stop happening. But I think this is the year that it's gonna, it's natural until the tournament is over this year we are gonna be comparing ourselves to Arkansas and vice versa. It's just gonna happen. I mean, I, you can say we shouldn't and you might even be right, but it's gonna happen. Appreciate the call. I mean, I, you know, I, I, I, well, I mean, go ahead, finish.
Ryan Lemon
He's gone.
Matt Jones
Oh yeah, you hang up quick. I will say that. I mean, I, I don't. It's just going to be how it is, right? Like it's in human nature. He was the coach here. I think after this year it won't happen, but I think this year there's not going to be anything you can do about it. Like the, when, when Biden got elected President, the Biden people were, you know, it's. It's better than when Trump was president and vice versa. And it's going to happen this year with the Trump people in the Biden. Like it's going to happen, but then people move on. Like how much do people now, Billy, talk about Obama or Bush? Like, you know, like everybody moves on at some point.
Ryan Lemon
Yep, you're right.
Matt Jones
But we're going. It's just going to be what's going to happen this year. So that's the way it is. What's next?
Ryan Lemon
Georgia Tech scored a touchdown.
Matt Jones
I saw that. But it should have gone for two.
Ryan Lemon
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Wouldn't you have gone for two? Yes, but you're on the road. Go for two.
Ryan Lemon
Big lead. Two calls. Stevie.
Matt Jones
Stevie. Go ahead, Stevie.
Billy Rutledge
Hey, Matt. Could not be happier with the trajectory of this team heading into 2025. The non conference schedule looks great. So Big Blue Nation, we got a great season ahead of us. And for you, Billy and Ryan, how's that Trinity wind taste tonight? Holla.
Matt Jones
I don't even know who they play. Oh, they played Douglas. Right. I was kind of for you all tonight because I didn't want to deal with having to get rid of the airport in Boise and fly him home because I also know how Ryan is. Billy, I was going to end up paying for that flight. He can say he was going to pay for it, but I was going to end up having to pay for it. And so I was kind of pulling for Trinity. Not going to lie to you.
Ryan Lemon
Big win for you tonight.
Matt Jones
Yeah. So this was a. This was probably a $500 win for me tonight. So go Trinity. All right, let's finish up. Who's next? Luke. Go ahead, Luke.
Billy Rutledge
Matt, just want to say another great win. Mark Pope is amazing. That just leaving his credit card there is just awesome. I mean, obviously he makes a ton of money, but still he doesn't have to do that. You're to see a guy do something like that to me is awesome. That's a guy that genuinely cares about the fans and genuinely cares about us and genuinely wants to be here and wants to win here. And I'm very, very excited for that, obviously. I mean, how could you not be with everything that's happened so far? I mean, the only slight nitpick I could possibly have just to be that guy. I don't necessarily understand why this team doesn't full court press more, especially with Butler and away because they're so long and so explosive and so good at just being explosive to the ball on Defense, I mean, that would be my only slight nitpick. But again, when you win by 30 points, I don't really think you have a whole lot of room to complain. And I'm sure I don't.
Matt Jones
Hang on a second. I didn't understand what you. I understand what. Didn't understand what your complaint was. You were saying what now.
Billy Rutledge
The. Why this team doesn't full court press a little bit more. Again, I guess when you're up by a million points, I think the answer.
Matt Jones
I think the answer is pretty. Here's the thing about full court press, and Rick Patino at Louisville was the one that sort of talked about this. You full court press, for the most part, when you're not as good as everybody else because it changes the pace, et cetera. But when you play. Pitino used to say, when you play fast, you get the extra possessions that you have with a full court, but you don't give up the layups. And I think that's why they don't do it. I mean, I think they'll do it a little bit, but you don't want to do that if you're. If you're Mark Pope because you don't want to give up the layups because your half court defense is good. Like, if our half court defense stuck, I would agree with you, but our half court defense is pretty good. And we play fast enough that we're able to get the possessions with without pressing. So I think that's why we don't do it. Yeah.
Billy Rutledge
And, you know, he might also be saving that for. For something later in the season. And also I think one other reason the game has changed, because big men are better at handling the ball.
Matt Jones
Totally agree.
Billy Rutledge
So that's. I think that's also part of it, too.
Matt Jones
So.
Billy Rutledge
Yeah, you make a good point there.
Matt Jones
That's. That's a great point right there. All five guys on most teams. I appreciate the call. Four guys, if not five, can dribble the ball. When we were pressing in the 90s, that wasn't really true. You could press a lot of teams and they'd often have two guys in who couldn't dribble. So really, it was like you were putting four dudes on three. It's not really like that anymore. I mean, look at our team. Omari Williams can bring it up, although Billy, I don't love when he does it. He could if he had to in a given situation. Hey, big win for Kentucky tonight. Georgia Tech just scored. They got to go for two here now, now, before we go off I'm going to call this two point conversion because they should have done this the.
Ryan Lemon
First time yeah this would be to.
Matt Jones
Win if they had done this the first time this would be to win so if they get this then they would have won if they don't get this Billy then they would have lost this is the if I were coach with Georgia Tech have won Here we go throws it nearly picked off nearly picked off and rugged the right decision Georgia Georgia really had scouted that play because he was in the backfield they knew what was coming they had two guys ready to pick that off so yeah let's not maybe I shouldn't coach all right I will see you tomorrow morning 8am right here on these same stations our bar opens at nine if you come in the game cats win big day tomorrow gets the cards this is the local toy dealers KSR post game show.
