8 Eastern, 7 Central on NBC and Peacock 9. Welcome everyone. It is the local Toyota dealers KSR post game show for the second time. We are here live in San Francisco ready to bring you some good Kentucky, Oklahoma post game reactions. Cats win 94 to 78. I'm Matt Jones, Drew Franklin, Billy our sports and Mario Maitland. All we are in Billy's room is here on the. Well, I'm not gonna say what floor of the hotel. We don't need people, we don't need the paparazzi coming to see Billy. But we are here, ready to go. Just had some Korean food. Feels like we've been up for 43 straight hours but we're, we're rocking and rolling and we got to watch Kentucky win 9,478 in an SEC game that they actually handled with relative control for most of the game. One that we definitely needed.
C
Drew.
A
This has been a top four five KSR day of all time. Been one of my favorite working days of all time. We'll save a lot of that for the show tomorrow, but it's been an excellent day and glad to finish it here tonight.
C
Yes, it has been an all timer but an absolute dream and we got to end it watching Kentucky couldn't be there but followed it from out here was the game, you know, just, just get past this one, handle your business at home. However it looks, just get out of there. With a win, it's now what, seven out of eight. You got some momentum, looking good. They end up pulling away at the end even to build on that confidence. So I'm just, I'm glad we could exhale. Never was too worried about it, but it's one that you couldn't slip up and lose all your great momentum before.
A
It's the Brandon Garrison game, right. And I want to go into some detail because I think this is maybe the best game of his career. But you know, we're going to, since we're out on the road, we decided we were going to have everybody. This has been a top. This has got to be Billy's best day.
C
He's on fire.
A
Maybe the last five or six minutes a little stressful but, but besides that, this has got to be like your best day of your life. Tom Hart with multiple references during the game to you, mentioned quarter zips, mentioned digital business cards, mentioned finding a new job.
C
Billy, are you serious?
A
Billy, are you serious? This had to be awesome. Even mention one for Ryan, working him up into a lather. All of that happen during the game. This has to be a. And then you were in at your dream. You've wanted to be on media row your entire life, and you got to do that today.
C
Yeah.
B
It's hard to put into words what this day has meant to me, guys. I mean, I've still got my quarter zip on and I don't want to take it off. It's been such a great day.
A
You turned it inside and I. And it's.
B
I flipped it and reversed it here a little bit. So I was all business with the blue and now with the gray. But thanks, Tom, for those. Those mentions. And him tweeting during the game was like a waste. Wow, that's. That's a funny moment.
A
You deserve it. Before you go, leave us for a new job tomorrow.
C
Oh, exit.
A
What a great way to go out before you go find a new job. Mario. Been an awesome day, hasn't it? It has, man. Really cool setup that Super Bowls have in San Francisco, like, as a whole. Really cool setup. It's really cool what they do with that Super Bowl. It's very cool, man. I. I'm just having fun, man.
C
You guys are a lot.
A
Listen, this is not. This is gonn different kind of post game show. I'm just going to go ahead and warn you. It's late at night. Here's the thing. We missed the first half of the game, so I'm just going to acknowledge that up front. We had to go to an ESPN thing, which was for the Rich Eisen. Rich Eisen's doing a podcast series called this Was Sports center, about the history of Sports center. And he had Chris Berman as his guest. And we had to go to the party before because I had to meet all of the various ESPN bosses. I took these fools with me. And so we missed the first half. So, like, honestly, you all know more about what happened in the first half than us, so feel free to call and tell us about it. It would be like we're learning to Drew. We did watch the second half, but we. We're gonna have to learn about the first half.
C
Billy was trying to be Sly with the game on his phone at the party, but it was very obvious the pre.
A
The president of the ESPN was right at the table next to us. And Billy, in this social gathering Pulls out his phone and is watching. And I was like, bill, you have to put that away.
B
Well, I did my networking at Radio Row. You were doing your networking in that.
A
Moment a VIP event and you can't watch television?
B
Well, I am the co host of a post game show.
C
I mean, at least he wasn't watching a different network.
A
That is a good point. You were watching.
C
The app works. That's right.
A
You were, you were watching, watching that Brandon Garrison big time game, 20 points, first double double of his Kentucky career, which I didn't realize played with aggression. They must have something he must like about Oklahoma.
C
Yeah, he's from there. He grew up, you know, in that rivalry and around it. We know the games last year, how passionate it was. I remember it was a big deal that he had his, his son at the games in Oklahoma last year and he played well in front of him. Then he had him out on the court after doing it again tonight. But that, that logo, man, it triggers him. I mean, he starts seeing red when the Sooners are out there and now Kentucky's what, three and oh, because of it, he and oh weigh both. They step it up when Oklahoma's on the other side.
A
What I Love is 20 points, 11 rebounds. Only misses one shot. Good shot selection didn't play out of control. Billy, this is, I mean, this is, this is. Obviously you'd love to have it all the time, but I'll take any. I'll take half of this from Brandon.
B
You get. Sometimes you get really good bg. Most of the time you get really bad bg.
A
But he almost got in a fight again, which was nice.
B
Dunked at the end of the guy.
A
With 1.3 seconds left.
B
Well, I mean, you're gonna need a good BG if you're going to want to do anything in the postseason this year.
A
BG stuff.
C
Yeah. What's this initial thing?
A
Why are you calling it. When did that start?
B
Well, once you say somebody's name once, I mean you can kind of just shorten it after people after that.
D
Right.
A
Is that, is that like.
B
Oh, I, I do.
C
It was BG time.
A
It was BG time. You were, you, you were cheering for him. You gave up that his and one at the end kind of put the game away. Legacy game for bg. Wow. I don. A legacy. You guys don't think it was a legacy game? I don't know. Well, I mean, if it's. I guess it depends on what his legacy is, but it is. It was, it was his best game.
C
I liked everybody was expecting Watch on my cord there. Everybody was expecting him to have it technical, and with 1 second on the clock, he delivered. It's like he knew everybody out there wanted it.
A
Well, it continues the stat of all. We're undefeated. I don't know when we do it big. Owe 24 points against 7 of 11 shooting. We. We take for granted Drew, how good he's been in SEC play. I mean, there was some disappointment in the early year for oa, but since SEC play has started, he has been unbelievable.
C
And here lately, it's not just that he's scoring a lot of points. He's been incredibly efficient. What was tonight? Did you say it was something like 7 11? Yeah, 7 11. I think he was similar to that in the last game. So he. He's really, really, really get it done. And, I mean, we all had our concerns early. Since they've turned to sec, he's been the guy we expected, we thought we'd see all season.
A
Did you guys see his new braids? I like his. He came out with the new braids. Did y' all think about that? I did. I didn't focus on that. It's a new look. Yeah, it's a new look for him.
C
Jayla Lowe has a new haircut.
A
Jaylah Lowe does have a new haircut. See that? Yeah, he's. Thank you, though, for the braid update.
B
Well, he had to step.
A
Well, you don't get that on this show when Mario's not here. I don't usually do a braid breakdown, but when Mario. I like the braids. When Mario's here, we get a braid breakdown.
B
Well, here's the basketball breakdown. He had to step up. I mean, everybody's injured. I mean, if you're going to be the SEC preseason player of the year, you got to start acting like it and playing like it.
A
Why are you angry? We won.
B
No, I'm not angry at all.
A
He's passionate.
B
I'm passionate.
A
Okay, but I mean, you're. We're. He's playing great.
B
I'm happy that he finally stepped up. He showed some fight on the court in a couple games past, and now he's continuing that momentum.
A
Well, I think he's been great. Aberdeen scared everybody.
C
Yeah. Billy mentioned injuries there for a moment. Thought, you know, someone else at Aberdeen. Quick trip to the locker room. Luckily, that's just a scare. But there for a moment, just like, oh, God. One thing after another with this team.
A
Yeah. One person writes, you all sound stoned on this post game show. I promise you we're not. We're not. Look, I mean, I'm just. Can we just be honest? It's after midnight on the East Coast. We've had an amazing. We've had a giddy day. I mean, literally. We met and interviewed Christian McCaffrey. Terrell Davis. Terrell Terrell Davis. Busing with the boys.
C
Sean Alexander.
A
Sean Alexander, who may be the nicest person in the world and tells a.
C
Fun story about Kentucky football.
A
Yes. Tells a great. Saw Stevie Johnson. He wrapped his famous 2007 pre game against Louisville. Wrapped to us. And Drew finished it for like. Drew did it with him. That was amazing. Pitching myself and media row was the coolest thing I've ever seen. And, like, people knew who we were. I don't know how we met. Kelvin Gemstone. Yeah.
C
And Dan Dakage.
A
Both actually. Dan Dockage was nice. Dan Dockage had a nice thing to say to me about Larry. I. I might have to lay off on him. He did say to me, even though we don't always like each other. And I was like, you know what, though? You were very nice. And that's all. And then we saw. I mean, then we saw everybody. Yeah. And we did that and we went to the ESPN thing, which was celebrating Rich Eisen and Chris Berman. And Mario had one of the great moments where he goes, they gave out free Rich Eisen Thermoses. And Mario goes, I'm gonna put this on my desk. And I go, oh, you like Rich Isaac? And he goes, I don't know who he is.
C
You're excited.
A
Why would you put it on your desk? Memor. I like to. But you were at. Mario was at the Rich Isaac Chris Bourbon VIP party and didn't know who either one of them was. I'm just enjoying the moment, man.
B
He respects them. He doesn't know who they are. Still respects the name, though.
C
And I'm learning about.
A
It's that. It's that innocence and how, like, that's what I love about New to him. You're the most innocent person when it comes to this stuff. This is. This is a trait that everyone listening should have. Mario treats every single person the same. Would you agree with that? He is equally as nice to everybody. You can just be a stranger or. And the good thing is because Mario doesn't know anyone. He's the same. Nice to everyone. So Burke Magnus, who is the president of espn. Not just ESPN Radio, the whole Dagon Company. All right. He comes up and goes, matt Jones, I'm a fan. I got a heart of flutter. I was like the president of espn. Knows who I am. Mario shakes his hand and literally it would be the same way he shakes a hand at somebody in KS Bar. He's like, yo, guy, yo, man, what's up? He looks at the president. You're yes, me. And he's like, yo, did you see? Always brain.
C
Bronny had six tonight.
A
Bronnie. Bronnie had six. But that's why you're so nice. Like, you just. You talk to the president of ESPN just like he's anybody. And I think that that's very charming. Well, I didn't know he was the president until after he left, so now I know.
C
That's what we mean.
A
It's like when you ask Larry Fitzgerald.
C
To take a picture.
A
Yeah. You asked Larry Fitzgerald to take our picture.
C
Like him be the cameraman.
A
Him for a picture. Us, Tim, if he would take our picture. That's. That's hilarious. Yeah. So anyway, this is just gonna be how the show is.
C
We've also been up since 5 and I feel like we've been doing radio all day.
A
We've done a lot of radio. So. 859-280-2287. Call us, talk about the game. Expect more of this. This is going to be what it is. And I was just on another show just a few minutes right before this one. So it's been very exciting. We'll take a break and we'll be right back. Take your calls. It's a local Toyota dealers KSR post game show. Welcome back. It is the local Toyota dealers KSR postgame show. 859-280-2287. Text machine is 772-774-5254. There's nobody believing it's true that you. That we have not been in the gun. I promise you we've not been in the gummies. We've just.
C
If you have any, I would like one, but I've not had any.
A
Which you have not. We had Korean chicken.
C
Yeah.
A
I haven't even had a beer. Nice. But I think it's just the excitement.
C
Of the day, the lack of sleep and the. The long day. But a day that's been full of fun has turned into a little bit of slap happy here.
A
Yes, that's right. Billy is a little stressed.
B
I can't wait for the stories to tell that we're going to tell tomorrow. Like on KSR and the pre show. I mean so many just random stuff.
A
Beyond just the celebrities. We had a. We had to run in with ice. But it's not what you think. Whatever you think When I say that, that's not the kind of run in we had with ice. No one could even guess. No, the kind of he had with ice. I'd like for people to guess and see if there's any way they could come to what Aria. And it was positive interaction. Yeah, but that's. We'll wait for tomorrow.
C
Yeah, they. They did things I didn't even know they did. They wanted us to be part of marketing.
A
Yeah, it was. It was. It was an unbelievable thing one person says. How does Mar not know Chris Berman? He's been a legend on ESPN for years. He's the author of many books. Maybe the most famous. I don't think he's an author. And maybe the most famous sports broadcaster of all time. How do you not know? I know a few ESPN personalities, but not him. Like who? Stephen A. Smith. You got excited when you saw him. I did, I did. You said his name in the car. No, no, wait. No, no, no. Help. Scott Van Pelt.
C
Good.
A
Okay, there you go. Come on now. Come on now. Can you get one more? Five? I can get five. All right. No, no, but you can't pick like former athletes. I need ESPN personnel. Trying to see if the TV can.
B
Help me out right now.
A
ESPN personalities. Former UK guy Michael Eaves.
C
There you go.
A
Yeah, that's where it gets hard. Let's see. You can go throughout history.
C
So you got stuff?
A
Oh, yeah. Stuart. Stuart Scott. ESPN guy.
B
Right.
A
Okay. Anyway.
B
Yes.
A
Any white people? Yeah, I got some Craig. No. Well, I don't know if he was used to me. Craig who? I was gonna say Craig. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. I'm thinking Craig Sager. Is that his name?
C
No, it's tnt.
A
Okay, getting it mixed up. Can I do announcers too? Like ESPN announcers or is. No, got to be a personality. Ah, okay. Oh, I got one he used to work for. Well, he doesn't work there anymore. Max. Max What? I don't say Duffy. Not Duffy.
C
Max.
A
You know, he's with Stephen A. Hu. Smith. He was his co host. I know.
C
Who?
A
I just know his name. Do you? Is it. Oh, I seen another one today. Screw. Screw. Max. Say Mad Dog. Mad Dog. There you go. I don't know his real name.
C
Saw him today. You're excited to see a mad dog.
A
859-280-228. Pat McAfee.
B
There it is.
A
Although he's a former athlete, I'll still. I'll still give you his. You. You were on the Pat McAfee show today, by the way. Mario I was you and Drew when he was interviewing CM Punk. You two walked behind me.
C
Oh, wow.
A
Yeah. All right, who's next? Zane. All right, go ahead, Zane.
D
Hey, sounds like y' all are having a good time in San Francisco. We're on the way back home from the game, going to Bardstown. And y' all had said y' all hadn't heard the saw the first half. Sorry. I just want to say Colin Chandler had a really good first half, and I need y'. All.
A
He had. Did he hit two or three threes in a row there at the end of the half? Because we were following the score, and it was, like, down to three, and then all of a sudden it was nine. So he had at least two, right?
D
I'm pretty sure, yes.
C
And can I.
D
Can I have you all say. Okay, something real quick? All right, so I'm in the car with my dad right now, and since it was a late game, I'm trying to convince him to let me sleep in a little bit and skip school. Can you help me out with that real quick?
A
Have you. All right, here's my question, though. Have you been in school this, like, the last 10 days that.
D
Well, we've had a lot of NTI and snow days, really. So I don't know.
A
So the answer is you haven't been in school. Right.
D
But we were there to for the past two days.
A
All right. Past two days. All right. I would say dad, since he's staying up and he's having fun and we won the game and it's super bowl week, let him go in half day. Right. Still counts as a full attendance. Sleep late. But then I'm gonna have to balance it by saying, zane, you have to go to the second half of the day.
D
Okay, thank you. I appreciate that.
A
Appreciate it. There we go. I feel like that's a fair. Yeah.
C
Me in the middle can't complain about getting to sleep in.
A
Did Gonzaga lose to Portland?
C
Believe they did.
A
Looks like Gonzaga lost to Portland. That's a huge upset. Portland plays in, like, a high school gym. That. No, Mario, that was a high school game. That was not Gonzaga. You thought that was Gonzaga. What they just showed on SportsCenter.
B
It was, like, grainy.
A
That was grainy footage from, like, a high school in Wyoming. That was not Gonzaga, but it was close. Ended up losing.
C
Let's not play Portland. My goodness.
A
You remember you were supposed to take a Greyhound bus to see Port to see Kentucky play Port.
C
I was excited, but the amount of time it would take to get to Portland, it was like 18 days one way. It's way too many stops.
A
One person says, matt, they sang your away song in the arena for at least a couple minutes. That is. That makes me. They did the away, away, away, away. I appreciate that. I wish they had caught on more during his career.
B
Yeah. Well, it's not over, so maybe there's still time for the fan base to fully embrace it.
A
But I liked it.
B
He continues to play well against Oklahoma.
A
That's three games against Oklahoma where he's been excellent. One game of New Brace School.
C
Yeah. Oh, that. There's no doubt. He and Garrison, there's an extra level of motivation that they hit and, you know, I don't know. They're on schedule in the regular season. Maybe we'll get them in Nashville, get another ride with that group.
A
Tennessee Saturday night. Feeling good about it?
C
I do. You know, already having one in the bank makes you feel a little better, but I really. The Vandy thing is just so weird to me. I guess I'm just gonna say, you know, the weather was bad and got bad early and 17 of 8. That's what I'm saying. If you can just ignore the 25 point loss in Nashville, they have really found something to play really well and making winning plays in the end to finish the job. So, yeah, I am feeling good going into Saturday.
A
People are sending names, wondering if Mario knows who these folks are. He's not going to know any of these, but do you know who Mike Greenberg is? Yes. Yes. He's a basketball announcer. That's Seth Greenberg.
B
Greenie. You don't know Greedy.
A
I know Green. We interviewed his former radio co host today on the podcast. You took pictures of him and you took pictures of him and we talked about. They hosted the show. Mike and Mike. Oh, is this. Do you remember the name of the person that we interviewed today? Well, y' all interviewed a lot of people today, but you got his first name. Mike. Mike. No, it's not ringing a bell. Golick. Mike Golick. Okay. Yeah, I didn't know him before y' all interviewed. That's. I don't. Yeah, there you go. Who's next? David Loville. Go ahead, Dave. All right. No, D. Go ahead, Dave.
D
Hello. How y' all doing?
A
Anytime, Dave. Go ahead.
D
I'm. I think I'm here.
A
You are here. Yes. All right.
D
Can you hear me?
A
Appreciate the call. Yeah, I can't. I can't. I can't. I feel like Dave doesn't know how to work the phone and there's not. I'm not going to be able to do that. I'm not gonna be able to fix that.
C
It's a great day. We can't end with stuff like that.
A
Yeah. All right, go ahead. Who's next? Chase. Go ahead, Chase.
D
Hey, guys.
A
Hey, Chase, how are you?
D
I'm just good. It's been such a great week and a half of basketball here. Also last night we, my sister hit a game winning shot in the district game as well in overtime. Why do we have, what do we have to do the rest of the year? Why can't we just put Oklahoma on the jersey of the other team?
A
That's not a bad idea. It's not a bad idea. Congrats to your sister on hitting the game winning shot, by the way. Chase, why do you think? Why do you think? I mean, I appreciate the call. First of it. Part of the reason they play so much better is Oklahoma's not good. So that helps. But why else do you think they've been. I mean, it can't be a coincidence that Owen Garrison, two guys with ties to the state, always been good all year. But Garrison especially. It has to be something about that uniform.
D
Yeah.
C
Oh, wait, last year he had his old teammates and his old roommate over there. I think most of those guys have gone on, so I don't know if it's still the same for him. But Garrison, he grew up in Oklahoma and I don't know if maybe turning that school down, maybe he gets hatred from their fans, I don't know. But it is personal with him in that school. We even knew going into that game because he also, when he was Oklahoma State before transferring here, he lost on, I think at least one, maybe two buzzer beaters to Oklahoma. So even had this animosity with them before he even got to Lexington. And we're just seeing it play out. Every time he plays them in a.
A
Kentucky uniform, one person writes, matt, why do you think we're shooting the ball so much better from 3? 46% tonight and they've been better in most of these games. I think a big part of it, Billy, is shot selection. And then the biggest part is Colin Chandler, because you went from a guy who wouldn't shoot them. Well, he wasn't making them earlier in the year, then he wouldn't shoot them. And now you're adding a guy who's pretty much buckets when he's open and he's taking more. He hit four tonight. I think that's really it. And then I think better shot selection from OA and Aberdeen, who are Taking threes, but they're taking better ones. So they're making.
B
Yeah, quality over quantity here. I mean, they only made like six in the game versus Arkansas. Right. So you know that 35, 30 mark that Pope has talked about so much, it's just not going to happen with this team. But if they can get good shots like that, then they can be effective.
A
Yellow Bitch, I mean, Yellow Bitch is. He had a couple tonight as well. I mean, he's a really good shooter. So when he takes them, you know, I think. I think that helps a lot too. Who's next? J Dub. Go ahead, J Dub.
D
Hey, Matt. How are you doing, man?
A
We're obviously doing well. We're having a good time.
D
Yes, sir. I was agreeing with you about Yellow Bitch. Yellow Bitch is a great stretch for it. He works right into Mark Pope's offense. And when you spread the floor the way that they do, you gotta have a stretch for just like him.
A
If there's one thing that is a hundred percent clear to me, after this season, Mark Pope should never again recruit a four that can't shoot threes. I mean, I think. I think you're exactly right. Even if Yellow Bitch doesn't shoot, the threat of that is massive for this team.
D
Right. And Brandon Garrison. Oh my. That's a huge game he had. I did not see that coming. I thought Owe was going to be the mvp. There's no doubt that it's Brandon Garrison and the double double.
A
Yeah, no, I agree. I appreciate the call. They may just not want to put Garrison on live radio. That may be the worry. But you know, you never know which big is going to play well. I mean, the fewest minutes for any of the bigs tonight was Moreno only had 11 minutes. All the other bigs played, played more. That's every game. It's somebody different.
C
Yeah, I believe it was Yellow Bitches most minutes of SEC play. No, he didn't get quite to double figures, but hit a couple threes here lately. Has been starting but then still hadn't been getting many minutes as the game's gone on. But I'm glad he got a full run tonight.
A
Also note only six turnovers. That's a big deal as well. One person writes, Matt, have you guys seen Waymos since? You've been out there a lot. Everywhere, everywhere. The future is here. At least in San Francisco I have. I. We saw a couple when we were in Phoenix last year, but it was like a couple. They are everywhere here and they. It freaks me out and I don't like it. And they. I saw them racing each other. It's. It's weird. It's. They're freaky, but they really are everywhere. You. They scare. You don't. Yeah, they scare me. There's no one in the car.
D
This is driving.
A
There are people in the car in the back seat. Oh, yeah. Handling the car.
C
Sometimes they are just driving by with no.
A
No one in there. Pick somebody up.
C
Yeah.
A
Yeah. It's freaky. It is. It is. What is? Kentucky. They were kind of.
C
Yeah.
B
Not only that, but then we walked past a long line of people trying to get into some AI conference. And, I mean, it's just, you know.
A
I didn't even think about that.
C
That billion others. A vending machine here that's basically like a Walgreens, but in the vending machine. That's. That's the thing about San Francisco. There's stuff here that we'll see in, like, five years that are normal parts of life.
A
There was people, like, waiting a block down the street to get into a building. And I went and asked two groups of people what they were going to, and they were just like, the future, man. The future. It's AI, but on steroids. And I was like, I don't want to go in there.
C
Yeah, they're so.
A
It's the future. But I do wonder if it is kind of the future here. Like. Like with the cars and the AI. It does feel like you've almost walked five years into the future here.
B
So are we gonna get in one of these waymos before?
A
I feel like we should.
B
I think we need to.
C
I'm definitely way mowing at some point.
A
We might as well.
B
I don't know.
A
I may let y' all do that. I don't like it. We gotta at least try it.
B
These hills are kicking my ass right now, so if we could get in a waymo.
A
Yeah. All right, we'll take one way.
B
Mo.
A
Who's next? Cadence. Go ahead, Cadence.
D
Hey, guys, I got. I got three things for you tonight. Number one, the Brandon Garrison performance was incredible. It was almost like when Bam Adebayo in 2017 went to Missouri and had 22 points and 15 rebounds.
A
Wow. All right, what's your second one?
D
Second point. Colin Chandler, he is not getting enough props for that performance tonight. He came in the game tonight. He had a step back three that was probably 32ft from the rim. I was an absolute beautiful shot. Beautiful. He had eight.
A
Yeah, well, his threes at the end of the first half were huge. I mean, that was a. That was a three point game and we went into halftime with an 11 point lead. And. And he is the. He's the big reason why. And then what's your last point?
B
That's when I was yelling. Bang.
A
Yeah, you were yelling in front of the president of uas. All right, who's the third one, the last one?
D
Denzel Aberdeen. He came out in the first half, first couple minutes of the game and he had a huge. He had two huge threes and also Yelly. Yelly had two humongous threes also in the beginning of the game. They both had six of our first 13 or they had 12 of our first 13 points. And then it had a humongous impact in that first half.
A
Great. Kept him from getting that early deficit that we've had in a lot of games. I appreciate the call. Aberdeen has been an unsung, significantly better player. I mean, he was. He was hard to watch a lot of the first half of the year. And then he, you know, without Jalen Lowe, he's had to play point guard. His. I think that's actually oddly helped him take fewer bad shots learning because he's having to actually run the team and I think he's done really well.
C
Yeah, he would. I mean, it was a lot of the offense when they would get stagnant, the ball would stick, they'd just play one on one and it wasn't working with him. But now that the offense is flowing a little better, he's getting there and he's finishing at the rim. He's also shooting a lot better from three. I think he might have had one airball a week or two ago, but the three point shooting, that was bouncing off the side of the backboard, landing in the crowd and all that from the beginning of the year. That's it. That's in the past. And he's shooting at a good clip in SEC play.
A
By the way, Mark Pope did his postgame press conference in a. In a toboggan.
C
Yeah, I was just zoomed in on that. Is it a Brown Kentucky win?
A
It sort of looks like. I have to tell you, Mark, this picture of Mark Pope and. Is that Jason Hart? It looks like Mark Pope. First of all, it looks like Eminem and Shigar Alene.
C
Why did he wear it though? It's like to the side.
A
Doesn't it look a little like Eminem? Cigar.
C
I see it. You see it, Billy?
B
Yeah, I see it.
A
I'm talk that out.
B
He had to leave. I think he left earlier, right?
C
He had to go pick up his daughter, her I guess her 15 month mission and she was landing.
A
Oh, that's an excuse. I totally get why. But why did he need to wear the.
C
But that's, that's very cool that he wanted to be there to pick her up at the airport.
A
All right, we'll take a break. 859-280-2287. This is the local Toyota dealers, KSR post game show. Local toy dealers, KSR postgame show. 859-280-2267. Text machine. 772-77-452541. Matt, no offense, I enjoy your post game shows when you're by yourself but I do think it's fun hearing you guys have fun as a group. Yeah, that's why, that's why we decided to do it. Hopefully we'll do it Saturday night. Although part of it's going to be about timing because we've got something that evening late. But hopefully we will hopefully be celebrating a win against Tennessee.
C
Definitely it's fun celebrating this one. And I like the, the road shows like this especially, you know, it's random stuff like just being in Billy's hotel room here talking about a game and.
A
One person writes, Matt Waymo and AI may seem innovative, but it's nothing compared to Billy's reversible quarter zips and digital business cards.
B
Well, it's time for the Johnny Rocker, personal injury attorney money maker of the game. Injured get small town compassion with big city results. When you call The Rocker at 270-321-4429. While it was a BG Legacy game tonight, according to Mario, it was our moneymaker of the game is Tom Hart. He was phenomenal tonight. I want to thank him for the references. But not only that, I mean he worked in like you don't believe everything you see on Facebook. He was hitting a lot of the references. So Tom Hart is our Johnny Rocker, money maker of the game.
A
They haven't put our cover zero up yet. Should email it.
C
I've been checking that too.
A
Yeah.
B
All right.
A
Because we have, we have that, that needs.
C
We're plugged in today, right? They're recording, right?
A
I hope so. Yeah. It doesn't look like It's. It's up yet. 859-280-2287. Who's Eddie? Go ahead, Eddie.
D
Hey, gentlemen. Eddie in California. Welcome to the Hotel California. When I listen to you guys on the post game shows, you always talk about being one in the morning. I'm thinking it's only 10, it's only 10. So now you know How I feel. It feels good, huh?
A
Well, thank you.
D
I do have a. I do have a question. I've been hearing a lot about seven seeds, eight seeds in the bracket. I got a chance to go to the Western Tennessee game at rup. Any chance, based on what you're hearing about seven, eight seats that Kentucky could be out in a Western Regional during March Madness?
A
I think when you get to that level of seed, it's actually very random where you end up. You kind of. It depends on. It depends on the process of just, you know, what other teams are, your seed line. So I. It would be a complete guess. You know, you can kind of sometimes predict where they're going to end up when they're a 1, a 2, or even a 3. But when you get down to a 6, 7, 8, 9, it's just a complete guess. So, like, there are eight different locations for the NCAA Tournament first round. And honestly, Kentucky could be at any of the eight, and it'll probably be just sort of luck of the committee as to which one we get.
D
Did Billy did the strutting with Sutton?
A
Yeah. Appreciate it. Yeah.
B
I got the hat. I did not bring it with me, but you better believe the next remote that we go to, I'll have that.
A
You should strut with Sutton hat. You did get it.
B
I did get it. And I also went and got that jacket from. So I'm vintage now.
A
Yeah, I saw you in that picture. You. Yeah. When you're. Like I said, when you're a 1, 2, or 3, you do kind of control where you play, but after that. So it could be anywhere, and we don't know where it'll be.
C
I saw before this game tonight Lenardi said if Kentucky wins in a blowout, they'll move up another spot. Do we consider that a blowout?
A
He had us as a seven. Most of the other bracketologies have had us as a six, which is kind of what I think we are right now. But I will say, I mean, we've got a lot of hard games ahead, so I think if you made me predict now the seed we're going to end up with, I would say seven. But I think if the tournament started today, Billy, we'd probably be a six.
B
That sounds about right. Do you think they can go on a run? I mean, do you think they're capable?
A
You mean in the tournament? Yeah, I got to see the draw. This is a team that I think is very matchup dependent. I mean, I think there are teams out there that are better than us, that in a Certain scenario we can beat and there are teams that we will just struggle. I mean we will struggle against a team like Alabama, even though Alabama is not great this year. I don't know, Drew, if we could beat an Alabama this year.
C
Yeah, some of these high scoring teams we've already seen, it's hard to keep up. But as we said when we scored 94. I know, and winning seven out of eight, that's no small task. I mean if we can forget the Gonzaga's and some of those games that were just so frustrating. You just pay attention to the last eight. I know one of them was a 25 point loss. But those wins, those are big time wins. And a lot of guys I think just turned a corner personally and it's made the overall team better.
A
Seven and three in conference. You got, you got Tennessee on Saturday, then you get a week off and then you go to Florida, which is probably the hardest remaining game left on the schedule. Who's up next? Gavin? Doug. Go ahead, Doug.
D
Hey guys.
A
Doug.
D
I'll be the first. Yeah, I'm here. I'll be the first contest. Was it a Ice ice baby. Did you run into a little vanilla out there?
A
Yeah, go ahead. I can't. I. Go ahead.
D
I'm sorry. Can you not hear me?
A
I can hear you. Go ahead.
D
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. So did you guys run to a little Vanilla Ice out there? Was a little ice ice, baby. I'll be the first one in the contest.
A
It was not Vanilla Ice. This was, this was actual ice. Like not the, not the frozen liquid. The agency. Oh.
D
Quick. Two other things. Chandler has started to remind me of Reeves first year where Cal finally Reeves play where everything is just going in and it looks so consistent. And then the best, the best mention.
A
Well, let me just say on that one. Let me just say on that one. Slow down, slow down just a little bit.
D
No, no.
A
First year Reeves first high scoring scores in the.
D
Yes. First year name.
A
Colin's been very good. But even, even Reeves his set, even Reeves his first year had some games where he went off. So I don't. I wouldn't put him quite in that in that yet. But yeah, I' you what if he comes back next year? I think you could have him be something like that.
D
Yeah, the ramp up is what I'm talking about. And, and the. My final point real quick is the best Tom Hart cameo tonight was the RoseBuds mention about one eye open where I have done multiple shots with one Drew Franklin back in our college days. Peace, guys.
A
Did you do a Lot of rosebud shots.
C
Oh, yeah. Big, big rosebuds fan. I didn't know Tom Hart had worked that in either. Tom had a night.
A
Tom was on one.
B
The Legacy night.
A
This way. He was on one. Lot of. He told me he did. And he also called his shot. He texted me. He texted me like yesterday and said, it's gonna be an epic. It's gonna be an epic game. And part of what I love is that he listened to this morning's show. Like, I mean, a lot of those references were from this morning. Yeah, he's awesome.
B
Billy R. You serious?
A
What made you decide, by the way, Billy, to reverse the. Well, we did. Well, because you wore that. You wore the blue all day.
B
Yeah.
A
And then when we went to the ESPN VIP function, you flipped and went to the gray.
B
Well, it was really like, you know, business was over at that point. I. The blue was for Radio Row, and then it was feedback.
A
So gray is a relaxing color.
B
Well, regardless, we just had to flip, you know, it was just kind of a different mood for the rest of the afternoon.
C
I thought it was gonna be like a day thing. Like tomorrow would be great. So you're flipping.
A
You only have three. Well, I only still have four more days.
B
Well, I got more than quarter zips.
A
Oh, what else do you have?
B
I got a vest. You're not ready for that.
A
Don't wear that.
B
You're not ready for the vest.
A
You have a vest.
B
I got a vest.
A
Is it only a vest? Like, nothing under.
B
Yeah. Correct.
A
No, I was kidding.
B
Well, yeah, but I have, like, other. Like, I have like a button down I'd wear with it, but.
A
What are you planning on wearing that?
B
I'm not sure.
C
On the flight back to Chili's, act.
B
Like you've never seen a vest before.
A
Is that for the shack party?
B
It could be. I mean, Friday night, we're gonna have to wear something. We're gonna be out of quarter zips by then.
A
I hope you're not playing.
B
To wear to Shaq.
A
To Shaq's party.
B
No, we got. We got the all black look on.
C
Saturday and Mario said he's gonna wear sunglasses to the party. I'm bringing out the 10pm and is indoors.
A
I'm bringing out the level.
D
Cool.
C
I can't hang with.
A
Yeah, we're bringing out the shades. We're gonna. We're gonna look funny when we all walk in all dressed. We're going to look like we work there.
C
I'm ordering.
A
We're going to look like we're all. You're Wearing them.
B
You want to see the vest?
A
Yes. Please take a break. When we come back, Billy will break out his mask.
B
No photos. Mario.
A
This is the local Toyota dealers KSR post game. Welcome back. It is the local toy dealers KS game show. Anthony Davis got traded. Hey, Drew. He will be on the Washington Wizards now.
C
I guess we've had a lot of Kentucky connections through Washington. Just add him to the list. Maybe get a little Georgia amore. Anthony Davis marketing going.
A
Yeah. But it does stink because, like, the Wizards are not a real team.
D
No.
C
And it just feels like we've seen the peak of Anthony Davis.
A
I can't even remember the last time I've seen a Wizards game. Certainly hasn't been since John Wall. It has to be John Wall. I don't think I've seen a Wizards game in years.
B
Yeah. Michael Jordan back in the day.
A
Michael.
B
Michael Jordan.
A
Did you skip the John Wall era? You weren't interested?
B
No. I mean, I moved past it. You brought up John. I brought up Michael.
A
He was before that. 859280, 2287 One person writes, Matt, if the tournament, how big a success would this be if Kentucky made the sweet 16? Be a pretty successful year, I think. I mean, like, it depends on what your starting point is. You start to what we thought at the beginning of the year, Drew, then it's not successful. If you thought if you go with what it looked like after we lost by 40 to Gonzaga, then it might be successful.
C
Yeah. Very careful to not lower the bar. But if you do make the sweet 16 after where they are were in December and the injuries, I can say that's a good coaching job. I'm still disappointed overall at how it from the expectations you have and the Ferrari comments and we truly thought this could be a final four run. So I'm not changing expectations what Kentucky should be, but I could also say given the circumstances, you finished strong.
A
One person writes, my husband always falls asleep during the late post game shows and it's normally so annoying. But listening to y' all have a good time together has been really enjoyable tonight. Yeah, I know it's different than the other ones and I appreciate you liking it. Sometimes it's good to be happy. Oh, 100.
B
I was wondering how we were going to do the post game when we weren't watching the game.
A
But we watched the second half.
B
We did.
C
And you watched a lot of the first half when you weren't supposed to.
A
You watched a lot of the first half while multiple radio hosts were trying to speak to you.
B
It's like the one time I should have been.
A
Yeah. I mean, for somebody who's been so worried, I want you to think about that for a minute. You were so interested in networking that you were willing to look at your bosses and say you were looking for other jobs earlier today. And you spent all of today talking to people, including random people throughout the country that are at radio stations. And then you were in a room full of ESPN executives and you decided to watch your phone instead of talk to Real smart.
B
Well, I was doing my job at a post game show to host later, but I had already flipped the quarter zip like I was. I couldn't just, like, go back to network.
A
You couldn't network because the gray side.
B
Was a new man at that point.
A
So I would have liked to say.
C
Navy at the event before talking.
A
That room had the four biggest people at espn, all of whom were surrounding our table. And you didn't even look up.
B
I was shouting bang. Because Colin Chandler was banging threes before the end of the first half.
C
You know, the listeners that you know don't miss a minute, Kentucky, they're very proud of Billy for doing that.
A
They are.
C
There's a lot of people that are Billy ignoring in the ESPN boss.
A
It's true. I get. Listen, my man was focused after. After earlier today saying he was looking for a new job, essentially when jobs were staring him in the face. Bang. College. Who's next? All right, Hunter, go ahead.
D
My guess for the ice encounter is that Billy tried to give his digital business card to him and they wouldn't take it.
A
That's a good guess. That's a really good guess. But that wasn't it. I like that gas, though. Go ahead. Yeah.
D
So, hey, this is a fun game to watch. A little stressful towards the end. I thought, you know, we're gonna find a way to mess it up and lose that game, but great win. My question is, is at what point do we look at this as like, what happened with the Gonzaga, what happened with Louisville? Like, that's all just like, oh, that's like a different team and this is a different team now. I say that because last year when we lost Arkansas, it completely shifted how we. How we thought of the season, because after that we got blown out by Ole Miss and then here we win and it kind of feels like that's a turning point.
A
Maybe. I mean, you say skip over Louisville and Gonzaga, but Vandy was just a week ago. Right. So, I mean, it wasn't. It wasn't that long ago. I mean, yes, I appreciate the call last year, the Arkansas. I don't think our season necessarily changed a lot last year. Their season certainly changed after they beat us. But we gotta remember they came into the RUP game last year one and six and on like not making we were. When we played Arkansas we were five and three in. In conference. So it was, it wasn't exactly the same desperation and pretty convinced we were.
C
Going to blow them out. Like we had the confidence Arkansas had this year. Yeah, Cal even said that the desperation was the. Was the winner on each side with the current team.
A
I've.
C
Even through some of these big wins, I still wasn't sold on this team being actually good at this point. I really believe they've turned a corner and a lot of it is guys like Chandler finding his confidence away, getting back to what he is and Aberdeen settling in and finding his. It's no longer. I feel like we're just getting lucky here and there and oh, we pulled off another one. They're becoming a good team now. The resume might be too late to build a seed where you can make a good run, but I feel like they've turned a corner and I'm a lot more optimistic than I was even a week or two ago.
A
I think a lot of it's going to be. There are a handful of teams I just, I don't think this team can be. And we just need to not draw them in either the first or the second round. That's to me the key. A couple of those teams are in the sec, so we're not going to draw them. But like, I don't think we could beat Arizona. I don't know that we could beat Michigan. So let's just not draw them. But you get a three or four seed, Nebraska or Iowa State or something, then why not? I think we would have a shot.
B
Yeah, I agree with Drew. I think they've definitely turned a corner. I just, for a while I thought they could not be good without Jaden Quaintance and I just, I banked on him like bringing this team to the Sweet 16 or Jalen Lowe.
A
I mean Jaden Quaintance it was but for me, I didn't think they could be good without Jaylen Low. And I will still say we're gonna know a lot more in four games because we're gonna be playing some good teams and we'll see what, we'll see what it looks like here and in, in. In four games. Who's next? Todd. Go ahead, Todd.
D
Hey man, I, I gotta say, Brandon, he really Surprised me tonight. I mean, he had. He's not Amari, but he had some bounce passes tonight that were pretty good. And I got give a shout out to Colin also. He played a beautiful game. I'm gonna be real quick, but I love when y' all go out of town and go on trips. I mean, y' all are so funny. You make me laugh and it's. I, I think y' all need to do like a little ten dollar raffle to have somebody go out of town with you all and put it to a charity or something. But to be honest, I mean, tonight it was very fun for me. I needed it. I need laugh and y' all make me have it.
A
Well, thank you very much, sir. I appreciate it. And thank you for. Thank you for saying that. I appreciate it. You know, we. There are. I. I love going down the road, you know, and I've enjoyed. And I enjoyed being with you guys. No offense to Ryan. Well, Ryan enjoys being gone sort of once you get him out of the. Out of the house. Shannon does not like to go anywhere you guys. Drew has always embraced it and it's been nice. You two have embraced it. Mario, you've had fun. You've been with me everywhere these trips. Always funny. Yeah.
B
And Billy, they've been fun.
A
Way to add. Thank you for. Thank you for. Thank you for those. Both were too resounding.
B
It.
A
Yeah.
D
Fun.
A
I've enjoyed it.
B
Yeah. Don't get me wrong, I've had a great time.
A
You too. We've only been gone 24 hours, but you still have like four more days.
B
I got plenty of outfits.
A
Who's next?
C
I'm excited to do some of the stuff outside of the. The work. Also, we haven't done much.
A
We've been very busy today. Who's next?
D
Justin.
A
Justin. Go ahead, Justin.
D
What's up, guys? I got two things for you. So the first thing I just want to say is I love the COVID Zero podcast. I'm a huge fan and Drew absolutely did say Kyron Williams.
A
Thank you.
D
The. The second thing, I gotta defend Billy a little bit. Tonight. The BG phenomenon has started. There were multiple occasions where the. The crowd was chanting bg. One, when he was about to get in a fight and two, at the very end because we wanted him to get 20 points. And I think that's what influenced him to get that. That last second point.
A
Oh, see, I. We. We had the sound down except for a handful of times when we heard Tom. So we, so I. I did not know that. Well, I don't think Billy knew that either but he can take credit for. So BG I appreciate the call. I guess that's let's, let's make it a thing.
C
Well it's PG time now sometimes that can be negative when BG calls his own number. But tonight it was BG time against Oklahoma and that was the positive BG time.
A
Yeah. All right. So it sounds like we're having some technical difficulties. That's okay. You know what, it happens sometimes we're on the road but what we'll do is we'll probably, we'll probably cut it off here so that we can have fewer technical difficulties. We're going to be back at this in 8 hours anyway on the KSR morning show. We'll be right back in this room in just eight hours. Guys. It was fun. Cats get a big win against Oklahoma at home. 94:78 we will see you tomorrow morning. This has been the local Toyota dealers KSR post game show.
Overview:
This episode of the KSR Postgame Show aired on February 5, 2026, following Kentucky's 94-78 win over Oklahoma. Hosted from San Francisco by Matt Jones alongside Drew Franklin, Billy "Billy R Sports", and Mario Maitland, the crew brings an energetic, candid, and at times slap-happy breakdown of Kentucky’s performance, reflections on a whirlwind day at Super Bowl Radio Row, and some classic on-air goofiness.
This episode blends sharp basketball analysis with lively, behind-the-scenes storytelling. The hosts’ honest admission of missing half the game, combined with their knowledge and chemistry, creates a uniquely engaging listen for UK fans. The deep dive into player development, plus San Francisco's “future shock,” makes this show resonant and richly entertaining—whether or not you caught the actual game.
