Drew, you know what? I stay up for you and I don't know if anyone Else in this town I'm in is watching the NFL today, but I was first and foremost.

Glad to see you. Billy and I weren't sure that this whole international connection we have set up here would work, but it's working. Do they have red Zone in South.

[Drew Franklin]

Africa where you actually. I don't know if the NFL should hear this, but if you get. What is it? A virtual personal network. So I bought. It was 12.99 and it says I'm in New York. And I guess the people here in South Africa did not dispute it. So I actually have gotten. It's kind of nice to be able to be here. You walk outside. I mean, it's. It's March here, right? So if you were to do the weather thing. So it's a little chilly outside. A little cold. I'm staying on a. This is a wine ranch, like where they make. I guess it's not a ranch. You don't call a wine ranch what a vineyard. Is that what you would call it? Okay, vineyard.

[Matt Jones]

Winery.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah, it's like a wine vineyard. Flew to South Africa. 15 hours. 15 hour flight. Drew, that's a long flight. I don't know how long you think a 15 hour flight is, but it's longer than that.

[Matt Jones]

So oddly, I know a lot of people want to hear our NFL talks. I want to know what a 15 hour flight is. Like, what do you do? I mean, is it just movie, movie, movie?

[Drew Franklin]

So here's what I did. Got on. The flight started at 9:00 out of. Out of Newark. The guy. We got out a little late and the pilot comes on and goes, all right, we're going to make up some time in the air, which I think is a really funny thing for a pilot to say. Like, just do that. Anyway, just go fast, it's fine. But we go, this is how long a 15 hour flight is. I watched the movie the Drop. Have you ever seen the Drop?

[Matt Jones]

I don't know. I haven't seen it.

[Drew Franklin]

Familiar with it. It's got the woman from White Lotus, you know, the woman from season two, the blonde woman who has kid that has different color eyes than the dad. Okay, so it has that woman, a dude that I'm not familiar with, and they go on a date and. And she keeps getting dropped messages from someone who's threatening her. That keeps dropping. And they know he's in the restaurant because it's dry. It's great. So I watched that. Then I watched not one, but two episodes of Gilded Age. And I'm like, okay, flight Must be over now. And there are still nine and a half hours to go after that. That is how long a flight to South Africa is. You can watch an entire movie, two Gilded Age episodes, and you're not. You're barely a third of the way there.

[Matt Jones]

So do you, like. Do you get up and walk around? I'd worry about my legs like you just do. Do yoga in the. In the aisle there.

[Drew Franklin]

How do you stay loose? At one point, I stretched. I was sitting next to, you know, I splurged a little bit. So I was in business class, and there was a South African family. There were two parents who were very obnoxious. I'm just going to go on record as saying kids should not be allowed to fly first class. When you're a kid, you shouldn't get that experience. Right. I mean, they give them, like, a razor and lotion. What's a kid going to do with that? Make your kids sit in economy, first class. Yeah. Their legs aren't as long.

[Matt Jones]

They barely touch the end of the seat as it is.

[Drew Franklin]

Put them all the way.

[Matt Jones]

No, put them in the overhead bin. Actually, don't even give them a seat.

[Drew Franklin]

I'm not. If I would make my kids sit economy. You need to learn a lesson, kid. You do not get to sleep. You know, you don't get to sit up here. So that they. They got on the plane, they started snoring immediately, and I just was staring them down. Angry. Yeah. I walked around, did a little stretching, tried not to, you know, stick my butt in people's faces while I was stretching, but it's. It was good. It's a long flight. I mean, what's weird is you leave New York and it's 9pm and it's dark. And when I landed in Johannesburg, it was 7pm the next day and dark. So I never saw any sunlight. A day just completely escaped without me seeing it. That was kind of strange.

[Matt Jones]

Just a day off, your life gone. Just gone. Nothing to show for it. Just out of.

[Drew Franklin]

Think of what I could have accomplished in that day. Instead, I was sitting on the plane. But we're here. It's a beautiful, beautiful country. I haven't gotten to do a lot because then I got here, and immediately I'm at this conference, and I was like, all right, everybody, I got to go watch the NFL for a podcast, which is exactly what people want to do in South Africa. But I'm going to be here for the next two and a half weeks. So our next four episodes will all be me somewhere in South Africa.

[Matt Jones]

Well, so far so good on the technology standpoint. We're a little concerned heading in, but you sound loud and clear and glad.

I had them all day you to think about for a second. It wasn't that long ago. It was only like 115 years ago was when the first flight took place. And back then you couldn't even talk to somebody unless they lived on your street. You didn't even know there was anybody else in the world. And now you can get on a plane, fly to the other end of the world and it's as if I and Eagle is still on your lap the whole time. Not that he's on my lap in Kentucky often. I'm just saying it still feels. It still feels good that's able to happen.

[Matt Jones]

And I mean, who else would you want to take with you all around the world except Ian Eagle.

[Drew Franklin]

He could fit in the overhead compartment.

[Matt Jones]

I had something to say about that later because he was on my Titans game. But it's, it's good. You got to stay in touch with that with the NFL.

[Drew Franklin]

Why did you make me say that about him? That was not. That was. It was a very nice. Nice at all. Well, so, you know, we watched a lot of the games going through. I want to go through them with you. I picked out six that I thought were kind of the biggest games of the day with the biggest storylines and then we'll run through the rest of them here over the course of the next hour. All right, let's get started here. Two games to to begin. We'll do the the Cardinals and the Panthers a little bit later. But Chiefs and Eagles super bowl rematch just finishes and you get a win by the Eagles. 2017. Patrick Mahomes throws a deep pass late, but they can't get a stop and the Eagles win. I think the storyline in this game is the drop by Travis Kelsey that leads to an interception. If he catches that, there's a very good chance that the Chiefs win the game because they were driving to score and take the lead. Ends up turning the other way. Eagles score a touchdown. 2010. Was this the day Drew the music died? Is this the day that the era that we love Patrick Trevi, Andy and his mustache, does it end today with that drop?

[Matt Jones]

You know, he's got a lot of.

[Drew Franklin]

Criticism Trevi, by the way.

[Matt Jones]

But go ahead he's gotten a lot of criticism. A lot of people are like, man, just retire. Go be a billionaire with your soon to be wife. And I want him to beat those allegations.

[Drew Franklin]

I want him to be like, I.

[Matt Jones]

Got a little bit more left. But I gotta be honest as a fan. First game, he runs into Worthy and hurts him. Second game, this interception on the goal line was horrible. Even kind of like threw it up a little bit where it could get caught by the Eagles. He has two huge errors for a 13 year veteran in two games. I'm worried that there are, there is some truth to that. Kelsey should have just go ahead and shut it down.

[Drew Franklin]

Is it just married life? I mean, you, you're, you're, you, you, you're married. I'm not. You've been engaged. You know, when you get engaged, I know your priorities change. Is it just married life or is it that he's old? I don't want him to go out like this. I, I've, I like him and I don't. We need to go out with her at the super bowl and him there and it's like a music video. He go out finishing 7 and 10 and being replaced by a younger version of him. Right. That dates Tate McCray. Look at it.

But I don't, I don't need Kelsey to ride off into the sunset with a ring and Taylor Swift performing. And it's this big NFL love story at the super bowl coming up. I just need him to not run into Xavier Worthy and not bobble a pass on the goal line that absolutely changed that game. That's what makes it so sad. If they make the playoffs and get knocked out in the first round, that's the end. Whatever. He had a good run. But it's sad seeing the two mistakes that he's made in the first two weeks of this season.

[Drew Franklin]

Well, you know, if it is the case that time has ended for Taylor and that it's. He's going to Be replaced by someone new and exciting. I have another idea. I feel like NFL Cover 0 can then replace new heights as well. Let me make the case, all right. You and I are not brothers, but we've known each other long enough that we're almost like brothers. I am kind of the louder one. You're the funnier, nicer one. You're funny. Or nice. You have the beard. You have a lot. You have a married life you can slam. I could see you going through a table. I do not date a pop star, but I did pick broccoli out of Natalie and Bruya's teeth one time.

True story. Which is essentially the same as marrying Taylor Swift. So wait a minute, is that. No, I'm sorry, not Natalie.

I was. I had them in the playoffs, but this is a Bills or Ravens AFC for me. That it's. It's turned in the last year or two, but I don't have them as bad as they. They are off to the start. This 0 and 2. They got to be better than this. They're not a Super bowl contender for me.

[Drew Franklin]

Well, I mean, both games have been close and they've played good teams. I mean, but let me. Let me read you their next few games. All right, so they've Got the, the Giants on the road, gotta win that. Then they host the Ravens. Not easy. Then at the Jaguars host the Lions. Host the Raiders, host the Commanders. Go to the Bills.

[Matt Jones]

That's a nasty schedule.

[Drew Franklin]

Go to the Broncos. I mean that's a, that is a brutal schedule. I let me just say like them making the playoffs is not assured, right?

[Matt Jones]

Oh no. I mean they've won that division for several years in a row. I mean the Broncos look good. Chargers already beat them. You're down a game to the Chargers.

[Drew Franklin]

I mean I'm sitting here looking at their schedule in terms of games that I would say they're definitely going to win. Like no question, you got the Giants, the Titans. But the everybody else they play is good. Like I mean they, they, they. The, the season from hell is at least on the table.

[Matt Jones]

Even that at Jacksonville. I mean they should win that, but I mean it's not a, it's not a lock.

[Drew Franklin]

Gotta win next week. Giants is a must win. If they lose, then I will take over for, for, for Travis Kelsey. All right, now we'll go to Seahawks, Steelers. Okay.

I'm kind of the point that I think we got to start considering getting rid of the Tush push because it makes these third and ones and fourth and ones for Philadelphia just completely uninteresting. Yeah.

Especially when they get two looks at it. I was all for it that they found a little bit of a way to game the system. Clearly they have an advantage that no one else figured out. But it is to the point where maybe we should tighten up the rules a little bit where they can't get away with it, but other teams don't.

Do it as well as they do.

That's what I mean. That's why, that's why part of me wants to give them credit for figuring it out.

After Sunday Night Football last week I thought we had our game of the year, but I'm ready to replace it in week two.

Bills Ravens out. Okay, I know, I know.

[Matt Jones]

Cowboys Giants doesn't have the impact of that game, but just from a sheer entertainment standpoint, this game was 17 to 16 at the end of the third quarter. They went on to score 44 more points, just trading licks back and forth. It's a long touchdown to Wandell Robinson. Neighbors with a bomb dak leading them back the other way. They're just trading licks and it looks like when Neighbors gets the touchdown they've gone up three and there's not enough time left for the Cowboys to have an answer. But Brandon Aubrey and these new kicker football kickers.

[Drew Franklin]

I this is.

[Matt Jones]

I don't understand 64 yards and as a Cowboys Fan. It's the last leg of my parlay also and my Survivor pick with you all. So I'm fully invested and I'm livid because I thought Schottenheimer messed up. They he. He hands off a draw instead of trying to go farther to settle for a 64 yard field goal.

[Drew Franklin]

Even. 64 yard field goal.

[Matt Jones]

Even the announcers are like, what are they? This is kind of a gamble. They could have gotten a few more yards. But then. Brandon Aubrey.

[Drew Franklin]

Well, exciting game. Here is how I was at a dinner and we had a South African journalist speaking and I had made a deal with the leader of my group that I was going to go ahead and have red zone on my phone under the table. Okay. So you know, which is what you do. You don't want to have it on the table when a South African journalist is speaking with you. You have it under the table. So I would look down like I was looking at my feet, but I was watching Red zone and Wanda Robinson scores that touch for the Giants. And you know, he was, he went to Kentucky, which is, which is our school. And I got excited and kind of hit the person next to me and said, wandell. And the person next to me is a woman that I don't think has ever watched football before. And she had a look like, okay, no reason to hit me. And I don't know what that means. And mine was like a love tap on the leg. But yeah, you shouldn't do that because then I lost service and I didn't get to see the end. And so I missed the insanity. And it came right back on when we had the 64 yard field goal.

[Matt Jones]

Well, I think Wandell's touchdown came with two minutes left. Kentucky guy that was sharing for the Cowboys. I also yelled at Wandell. I was upset. I thought that was the game. No, There was still two more touchdowns after that and the 64 yard field goal and in overtime. We didn't mention this yet, but the Giants were in a no lose scenario. They couldn't have the ball a minute.

[Drew Franklin]

You're not going to lose. The key there, at least in my opinion, is do not lose. And they found a way to do the one thing you would do, which is throw an interception and lose.

[Matt Jones]

And Russell had such a great game otherwise over 400 yards. The big throws to Robinson and Neighbors in the fourth quarter, but he just basically punted to the Cowboys on a deep ball into double coverage that didn't stand a chance. I mean, the Cowboys secondary basically calls a fair catch waiting for the Ball to land in his, in his arms. It was such a lob throw to him. And then Dak leads him down for Aubrey to kick the game winner. Look for Russ if.

[Drew Franklin]

Well, do you feel like. I mean Russ played pretty well until that there were, there were fans all week wanting Jackson Dart. I don't think you go to him yet. Right. I mean even though they're owing to Russ did enough to keep the job. Wouldn't you agree?

[Matt Jones]

Yeah. He Russell really good. The interception aside, up until that point he didn't have any turnovers, three touchdowns. There was a moment where Dart came in the game for one play and even the announcers thought they were making a coaching change. But it was just kind of a.

[Drew Franklin]

Coaching change that would have been a.

[Matt Jones]

Real, excuse me, a quarterback change.

[Drew Franklin]

I think they should make a coaching change.

[Matt Jones]

They even fooled the announcers cause they're like, oh, they're benching Russell Wilson and he's having a good game. That's just weird. But it was a one off. But the crowd did get into a little bit when Dark came in. But it was just one snap there.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah, I, I think you keep Russell and for the Cowboys that's a big win that keeps their fan base from, from losing it. I still don't understand like on that last overtime drive, I still don't understand. And time management, it's. It's awful. Even from, even from NFL coaches, they don't understand that the one thing you got to do there, either tie or lose or, excuse me, tie or win. The one thing you're not going to do is lose. And the Cowboys found a way to do it. And that's part of the reason the Giants found a way to do it. And that's one of the reasons that they, you know, have the problems that they do. Bengals get a win against the Jaguars. We'll talk about the game. But the big story is Joe Burrow, apparently a toe injury likely out for a few weeks. The Bengals are two and oh though so after years of starting poorly, if you're ever going to have a time to lose your quarterback for a little bit, this is it. But they end up still winning the game. I do think that's important because these are games. If you look at week one and two, those are games in the last five years, Bingles have lost that game time and time and time again. And this time they win it. You know, Jake Browning is this. Jake Browning goes 92 yards on the final drive. Jake Browning may not have to buy Skyline Chili in that town for A long time. Right.

[Matt Jones]

He looked pretty sloppy until that point, but when he put the game winning drive together to put them up two.

[Drew Franklin]

Oh.

[Matt Jones]

On the year, you know, it's a big game, but either team could have gone to. Oh, and Jake Browning does it for the Bengals. Sadly, Bengals fans have kind of gotten used to Jake Browning because they don't do a good job of taking care of Burrow. But a huge win for the Bengals and no surprise that Jamar Chase got going especially earlier with Burrow after last week, that offense looks so bad. The Bengals at least got 31 points and look to have some.

[Drew Franklin]

Let's talk about Jake Browning for a second. Jake Browning. I'm going to give you some Jake Browning facts, all right? Because I love when a good backup quarterback comes in. Jake Browning. Do you know where he was drafted?

[Matt Jones]

Like where? To which team?

[Drew Franklin]

What team?

[Matt Jones]

Oh, I have no clue where he was drafted.

[Drew Franklin]

He was not drafted. He was signed as an undrafted free agent from the Minnesota Vikings. Do you know where he went to college?

[Matt Jones]

I know he's Pac12. Former Pac12.

[Drew Franklin]

He's a West guy. Good call. Washington Husky. That's exactly right.

[Matt Jones]

I was saying it as you said it. I'm counting that.

[Drew Franklin]

He went to Folsom High School in California, home of Folsom Prison Blues. That's right. The Johnny Cash song was sung in his home county. I had no word if he actually went to Folsom Prison at any point. He has the national record for most touchdowns in high school. That's probably something you didn't know. And this is kind of interesting. He committed to University of Washington. He got a degree in business, and he was direct. This is on his Wikipedia. He was directly admitted to the Foster School of Business as part of his recruitment. Apparently that's a hard school to get in. At Washington, they went ahead as part of his recruitment and guaranteed him admission into the difficult class at the Foster School of Business. Should that be an illegal recruiting violation?

[Matt Jones]

Yes. That makes me angry. I have a personal story here. Not only did he make the NFL, which is against the odds, I got denied business school and I had to write a letter to get accepted. Luckily, they accepted my letter, but I had to go to, like, this second step and beg to get in.

[Drew Franklin]

Wait, you went to business school?

[Matt Jones]

Yeah, Gatton College of Business. Oh.

[Drew Franklin]

For undergrad.

[Matt Jones]

And I started to go get my mba, and then this little job called Kentucky Sports Radio came around.

[Drew Franklin]

I'd like to see what you would have done with your mba. Well, Jake Browning, but I can't get.

[Matt Jones]

Into business school, and they're just giving him admission just to come play football.

[Drew Franklin]

You also didn't break Maddie Mock's high school football touchdown record. Travis Hunter, big pass interference there towards the end of the game. And then Trevor Lawrence and Liam Cohen. And listen, I've seen the hand gestures and facial expressions of couples that are on the rocks. I've seen when they look at each other and then go, shut up. I don't want to hear it. This is week two for them. And they already have a look of a couple that I'm going to start thinking, you know what? I'm not sure if this is going to work.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah. And I did some snooping on the Jaguars Twitter, the Jaguars message board. Those things do exist, by the way.

[Drew Franklin]

There's a Jaguars message board?

[Matt Jones]

Yeah, they're very worried about the. The Cohen Lawrence connection. They thought they had this great offensive mind coming in to get Lawrence back. Back on the right track. Been a little bit of a disappointing after he's a college star looking like it's in trouble already. I don't know which one's got to go, but those two aren't on the same page. You got Cohen hitting him in the chest like this. Well, Cohen needs changing the play.

[Drew Franklin]

Cohen needs to chill out. All right? So he was doing that Wolf of Wall street, like, Liam, stop, all right? Dude, you are like, stop it, Liam, you are a dork. All right? We know it, the NFL guys. It's the same thing with Mike McDaniel. You dudes coaching in Florida, just be the dork you are. Stop trying to be a tough guy. If I was Trevor Lawrence, you know, Trevor Lawrence with that hair, to go through life with that hair. He's a lot tougher than Liam. I would just tell him, liam, stop it. And then. And just act like a dorky coach and not like a tough football guy. They do look in trouble. Although they scored 27, I still think the Jaguars are going to win that division, depending on what happens. Now, for each of these games, as we said, we're going to have Billy's fact of the game. I actually skipped over the Cowboys Giants. What was your Cowboys Giants fact, Billy?

[Matt Jones]

Yeah, the Giants have struggled in that series. They've lost nine consecutive games on the road versus Dallas. And now overall, 16 of the last 17 games played.

[Drew Franklin]

And Dallas hasn't even been that good during that period of time. 16 of the last 17. That's pretty bad. All right, so now, Bengals, Jaguars, what's your fun fact for this one?

[Matt Jones]

Yeah, it's been slow Starts lately for Cincinnati and Zach Taylor, but bang or Cincinnati is now 2 and oh for the first time since 2018. And to go along with that game, Travis Hunter had 81 snaps. 42 on offense, 39 on defense.

[Drew Franklin]

Do you blame that for the pass interference there at the.

[Matt Jones]

Do I blame him or do I blame you?

[Drew Franklin]

But you could jump in too if you want. Do you blame. Do you blame me? You play. I mean 81 snaps. That's a lot.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah. And I know it's. It's fun to see someone do this and try to go both ways. They need to lock him in on offense. I know he played a lot more defense last week after he played six snaps a week ago, but there's been a couple mistakes. It's like that is just asking so much of a person to know two positions in the NFL. Not just know them like be an actual. He's the starting receiver and the second cornerback. Like that's too much to ask him a person.

[Drew Franklin]

I'm not even sure. I don't know that I see the value yet because I'm not sure that he's elite at each of them yet. My question would be are you going to ever if you're playing in a Super bowl, are you going to play him 81 plays? If the answer is no, then why are you doing it now? Right. I think. I think it makes much more sense to pick one side then put him in spots on the other. But to try to do that like he did tonight, I think you're going to get get that result most of the time. But congrats to the Bengals for win and we'll see what happens with Burrow. Luckily it's not an injury. It seems like they will keep him out for the year but the Bengals have a two and O start so that will help Patriots and Dolphins Dolphins look like most of the game they were going to be able to win this end up losing it at the end. You know this was to me. I don't know man to that that interception was awful. I know his offensive line doesn't do any help but I I think to a. I don't know man. I feel like the 2 era is coming to an end and it makes me sad.

[Matt Jones]

I thought that last week I thought literally they were just going to shut down the Dolphins organization a week ago.

[Drew Franklin]

If they gave they were better this week.

[Matt Jones]

Much better now they were a red zone watch for me. So I only saw when we're cutting to them because something's happening but they're putting Up a lot of points.

[Drew Franklin]

There's a lot of stuff happening though. Back to back return touchdowns. You don't ever see that got them in back to back waste. Do you like the new rule by the way that seems to encourage guys to run it out. I don't. I have to tell you, I don't understand the rule. It seems like guys stand still and then some old man on the sideline goes okay, now you can go. And they. They kick it short. And I can't figure out the logistics of it but it does seem to make it more exciting.

[Matt Jones]

I'm still getting used to that. I'm. I haven't come to a complete verdict on if I like it or not. I think I lean. I missed the old way but I understand for safety why they had to do it. But you mentioned the back to back returns in this game. It's like a 74 yard punt return, guys going crazy swings momentum in the Dolphins away and then boom. Patriots kick return the other way. That was one of my favorite moments of the day. Red zone just happened to be on that getting to. I think the kick return was 100 yards. So you got two nearly length of.

[Drew Franklin]

The field return making it to where I guess. I guess the goal is to pin them at the like 1 yard line when they catch it every time and it leads to a lot more excitement. You. I mean I think they had more returns in week one than they had in the first three or four weeks combined last year. And then you get these kicks this year. I think the kicking game is now the return game is part of football again. So I like it. Patriots 1 and 1. Dolphins are 0 and 2. We definitively said the Dolphins were the worst team in the NFL last week. Are you. Are you going to change that?

[Matt Jones]

I'll admit I'm guilty. And we know there's overreactions. After week one I was ready to shut down the Dolphins forever and really cut off Miami from the rest of state of Florida. They look so bad but much better. Showing today gets the Patriots. You know they're not a playoff team but they aren't absolute suck like they weren't.

[Drew Franklin]

I still think they're the worst team. I think you're going to end up with a situation about three or four weeks to is not playing anymore and they're going to be hideous. I'm going to go ahead and Predict they're finishing 3 and 14 because look at their schedule.

[Matt Jones]

Worst team.

[Drew Franklin]

You know, you think there'll be somebody worse than 3 and 14.

[Matt Jones]

Saints really suck and the Titans, kind of.

[Drew Franklin]

Yeah. But it's going to be hard. Like, you look at that Miami schedule, find me wins. It's not easy. Easy? It's not easy to find a bunch of them. This was. I mean, home against the Patriots was one of the ones you felt like they might have the best chance. Billy, what's your fun fact?

[Matt Jones]

New England scored 30 points in a game for the first time since October of 2022.

[Drew Franklin]

That can't be true.

That's a. Billy, that's not true. I'm throwing a challenge play that you're telling me they have not scored 30 points since October 2022.

Oh, it's a good stat, Billy, if accurate.

Billy, if that's. Listen, if that stat is accurate, then I'm going to bring you back some famous Stellenbock wine, because apparently it's very famous. I didn't know this was even a city, but apparently Stellenbock wine is known for its taste. And, Billy, I don't think that fact is right. Can you double check that?

I will double check, and I will start to look up Stellenbock to see what flavor of wine that I'd like.

Okay. So they tell you. By the way, one of the things they tell you in South Africa when you're in. I was in Johannesburg last night, and they're like, do not go out in Johannesburg at night without someone with you. Like, don't walk down the streets, et cetera. And they get you to where they're almost. You're kind of scared, right? Like, what could possibly. What could possibly be happening? So I'm staying in this hotel. Drew, there's a yogurt store directly across the street. I can see it. Okay. We're in, like, a neighborhood. Literally. This could be anywhere in America. You would see the yogurt, and you would see the place, and you'd go, I can go get that yogurt. Right? So I walked the front desk, and I say, I'm gonna go walk and they go, where are you going? And I was like, well, first of all, none of your business, right?

[Matt Jones]

Mind your business.

[Drew Franklin]

I'm a free man, right? I'm. I'm 40. I said, I'm going across the street to get yogurt. And they go, we'll send somebody with you. And I went, what? Send somebody with you? Like, I'm not a child. It's right there. And I said, that won't be necessary. And they're like. And I. Because I'm thinking they're wanting a tip, right? That's what I'm thinking. So I said, it's not necessary. They're like, okay. So then I walk across the street. Well, it occurs to me as I'm walking across the street, maybe this is really bad, but if they don't even want me to walk across the street while. Walk across the street. Walk in the yogurt store. Beautiful yogurt store, okay? The kind of yogurt store that when you think about yogurt, you think about this place. I walk up to the front, this counter. The woman goes, how did you get here? I said, I walked across the street. And she gave me a look like, whoa. I didn't know I had Mr. Brave here. So she asked me what I wanted, and I said, I would like one scoop of strawberry yogurt and a strawberry lemonade. And then she looks at me and goes, okay, Mr. Strawberry. Which I thought, well, there's no need to judge my order like that. What's wrong with two strawberries? But now they've kind of freaked me out. Drew. I have my yogurt, I have my lemonade. There's no one around. But now I'm scared to leave the yogurt. And I walk outside, and the man from the hotel runs across the street to meet me, to walk me back to the hotel. And I have to tell you, for my purposes, it was fine. But now I do have to wonder, like. Like, what is happening at this yogurt store where everyone is so scared about just walking to the yogurt store?

[Matt Jones]

Matt died doing what he loves, going to get South African yogurt across the street.

Mr. Strawberry died the way he loved to live.

Did you consider getting the security for the trip back after a second opinion had told you this is a bad idea?

At the moment, I thought it was so ridiculous that I wouldn't walk across the street. But then, you know, you start to think, and you go, maybe this is this yogurt source. Just all an elaborate plot.

It's a front for kidnapping yogurt gate in South Africa.

So if I just for the record, if I were to disappear the next two and a half weeks, first place I would look is at the yogurt store in Johannesburg.

Billy we'll follow the trail of strawberries. Correct it is the last time The Patriots scored 30 points October 16, 2022 at the Cleveland Browns. They won 38 to 15. The most the Patriots scored in one game last year was 25.

This Steelers are probably a playoff contender team, but not one of the elite AFC fighting for an actual run team.

Seahawks did what the Seahawks did what probably the jets should have done more of last week, which is put pressure, just pressure, pressure. Aaron Rodgers does not want to be hit. It's clear when you get Old. There's some things that don't go well for you when I, I will tell you this. When I got off that plane after that 15 hour flight, my back was left in Mogadishu. Like it hurt and it took a while. That's what happens when you get old. Aaron Rodgers does not want to get fall to the ground. He doesn't want to get hit. You got to bring the pressure. Seattle did that and they get the win. Are they like, like sneaky, Potentially really good. I mean that's a good win to go on the road and win at Pittsburgh, by the way. But it's, but it's still a very good win.

And I mean a week ago, you, you, you lose on an improbable completion there in the end zone. They should be two and oh, right now. And, and really threatening. They're looking good. But they also paid a lot of money for Jalen Ramsey who probably doesn't have a lot left. He's looking good right now, but he's also an older guy. You went out and you get DK Metcalf. He's young, but he was expensive. So they're all in on kind of winning immediately and they're going to be.

Just good enough to not get one of the top picks. So it's going to be, it's just a. I'll never understand why they did Aaron Rodgers. I thought last week after he played well, I might eat my words. This was more kind of what I expected all along. Billy, fun fact on Steelers Seahawks.

Well, yeah. And Caleb Johnson turning his back on that kickoff was bizarre too. But the Steelers were outscored in the final two quarters, 24 to 3. It's the first time the Steelers have given up 30 points in consecutive games since November of 2021. So trouble in paradise when it comes to Steelers?

Look at you. I mean, I love when you come up with all these. Well, I don't want to ask. I don't want to know how the sausage is made. I don't want to know where Billy's getting these numbers. That's how you end up with Mac Jones, but not a drop off at all without having party Mac look great. Three touchdowns, no interceptions got Juan Jennings and Christian McCaffrey going. So they got a little life.

What is less intimidating than the play? Two minutes to go. When we come back, Spencer Rattler has the ball to drive down the field and take the lead. How many tease. That was a tease that occurred today. I have to tell you, it wasn't one that I found very compelling. Or do you. Was I wrong to kind of assume the result we got?

No, but if you're. And if you're a Saints fan and you have Spencer Rattler, you should have this. Well, at least we drafted a rookie we could go to. But how do you get excited for Tyler Schuck from Louisville? He's old, so it's not like you have a guy on the bench you're excited to like. Let's see what he's got. I just think they're in a bad spot in the quarterback position right now. I don't even know how you get that bad off where your options are. Rattler and Tyler Shuck. But that's what the Saints are. Luckily they'll have the number one pick next year with a lot of quarterbacks on the board.

All those got nuts. Meyer has been okay. DJ Lagway through for five interceptions. Class that was supposed to be unbelievable quarterbacks. I don't know. I mean, what if the Saints save all that up and get a and no one's good?

I actually today went to a mock draft that's not even that old. I won't name the publication, but I was trying to see who my Titans can get to block for Cam Ward. We'll get to that later. But Arch Manning was second on this mock draft, and I thought, oh, we got to get this updated. After what he's done the last two.

Can I tell you that this is not even a joke? When I saw they signed Eddie Pinero, I thought he was like the winning jockey in the 1983 Kentucky Derby. I was shocked. I'm not. That's not even a joke. Yeah, two and oh, Colts now the leaders in the division. I don't really want to spend a lot of time on this next game. Lions 52, Bears 21. My goodness. I mean, everybody's going to focus on Caleb Williams. But that bears defense, 52 points and with that was never competitive. That was the game I had primarily on during my South African journalist talk. And I ended up switching it off because, I mean, the Bears were pitiful. Ben Johnson, I still believe in him, but I don't know what he did to our defense when they came along. Or maybe he didn't bring a coordinator. That was a pathetic performance.

[Matt Jones]

Horrible timing for him. A week after the lions scored like 13 points in week one, there's all the talk of, was it the coordinators? Can Dan Campbell do this? Was it Ben Johnson's offense, defense? Then they go and score 52. Today they even asked Ben Johnson, was Dan Campbell run up the score on you? And he defended him. He's like, no, that's Dan Campbell. That's what he does. He doesn't have like a. Let's dial it back. He goes forward on fourth. He's full speed, aggressive, like, I don't take it personal. That's what Dan Campbell does. They lit your Bears up.

People probably go the other way because that was a tough first game and then they're not going to continue to score 52. But I still believe in the Lions as an NFC contender.

There's always one game in week one that you go back and you look at and you go, that doesn't make any sense. The packers are going to be really good. So I'm not sure if that's going to be the game we pick, but it might be because the Lions might be really good. And then that just a clunker of a performance. Your Titans lose at home, 33, 19 to the Rams. But then before we started the show, you were like, get little giddy schoolboy Drew going. Cam Ward's for real. He threw a good pass. Like, is that how you feel?

[Matt Jones]

Yeah. I ordered a Cam Ward shirt after the game, even though we lost by two touchdowns.

[Drew Franklin]

I knew before we drafted Cam Ward that it doesn't matter who they drafted, but Cam Ward has at least given me a reason to watch. Watch them.

He does look like the legit number one pick, a guy who can be a franchise quarterback. I feel bad that he has to try to do that in Nashville, but I am very excited about Cam Ward. So you get to pick whoever you want. Bills, jets, Bills win 30 to 10. I. I didn't see one second of this game, so you can tell me if I missed anything.

Every time I checked on it, you know, it was a blowout from the beginning. Wasn't one I was keeping up with a lot. But every time I looked up, James Cook was doing something. He had a big game. Had like 130 yards, two touchdowns. Pretty much a breeze of a game for the Bills after what they went through last week.

Do you. Josh Allen hurt his nose?

[Matt Jones]

Yeah.

Sticking a band aid up the nose does sound like something the Bengals would do though, had he played there. I saw Josh Allen said after the game, I can breathe. We're all right. So moving on. But it was. He was pretty bloodied up there and had to go out for a little bit.

That is. Listen, tough guy. Cardinals beat the Panthers, although they almost blew it. I predicted by the way, on this show last week that you will turn the Cardinals Panthers game on for the first time with two minutes to go. And the Panthers will be driving trying to beat the Cardinals. And that's exactly why. What happened 27, 22. They have a chance. People need to go back and watch Bryce Young's last play. One of the all time. He ran 45 yards backwards in trying to make that play, then fumbled it. Cardinals went, but they almost blew it. They were up 27 to 3 at one point in this game.

[Matt Jones]

Would have been a bad loss for the Cardinals in a year where they have a little bit of optimism. Bryce Young threw it almost 60 times.

[Drew Franklin]

How. How do they think that's going to succeed? I mean, through it almost 60 times.

[Matt Jones]

I think it's 55 pass attempts in the losing effort. I don't know if you're a Panthers fan. What. What are we doing? Like you saying the Panthers game. I forgot there was a Panthers game till you brought it up.

[Drew Franklin]

It was, it was good to hear Chris Myers finding his flow again. I mean you just know Chris Myers must have a Panthers tattoo. Cause he gets, he gets it every week. I mean he needs. I hope he gets hazard pay because he has to watch more of those games. Kyler Murray had another terrible interception. There's no player in the league who's both awesome and at times makes awful decisions more than Kyler Murray. But Cardinals two and up.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah, he's got better pieces around him this year. So if Collar is ever going to have a good year and take a step forward, he's. He's at least got the help. He just has to go out and do it. So far so good being under.

[Drew Franklin]

So what are your big takeaways here from week two? I think, you know, go back. If you go back to the packers commanders game, if you're to sort of do your, your top five power rankings, I think we'd probably both still have the Bills number one. Are you putting the Eagles? Well, we. I would have had the Eagles number one. I'm going to probably put the Bills now. I think I feel better about them. I'd probably go Eagles 2, Packers 3, Ravens 4. But to me those four are way ahead of everybody else. What about you?

[Matt Jones]

Oh no, mine's a little different. I got Ravens too. Even with the loss.

[Drew Franklin]

Ravens too.

It was a fluke loss in Buffalo with the Henry fumble. I'm still, I still have Faith in Baltimore, even though they do have a loss on the resume. Really, though, Eagles, Ravens, Bills just draw one of the hat for me. I mean, I think they're all.

[Drew Franklin]

Packers are like, definitively four for.

[Matt Jones]

I should have included the packers going in the year. Those are my three, and they've proven me right with Mike and how good they've looked. They've elevated, too. But the Bills and the. The Ravens, that week one just confirmed it. I mean, that is going to be a war for who comes out of that. That conference. And I think we're gonna get another rematch like we saw in the first game for who gets to go the Super Bowl.

[Drew Franklin]

Last week, you and I both had the Chiefs 5. I don't think you can put them there after losing again. So where are you going on number five? You've got. Let's see, you got two and oh. Teams right now include the. The Bengals are two and oh, the 49ers are two and oh, the. The Colts are two and oh, Rams are two and oh, what would you. The Cardinals. Which of those. When you. Those you put fifth of what you just.

I wouldn't put them fifth of what you just said. I'd put the rams of the 2 and O teams. But I like a 1 and 1 Detroit better than any of those.

I think, you know, it was against the Bears, and it's easy to mock that, but that was such a dominating performance today on both sides of the ball. I think you. I think the Lions at five. And honestly, the Lions are probably should be in the top four groups. They just kind of laid a clunker. So for the rest of the week or the rest of the next two and a half weeks, I will be in South Africa. I will still be here in Stellenbock on Wednesday. Billy, I will look for the wine of your choice.

What's the next? I also have a recommendation. If you're ever in South Africa and you're in the airport and you need to eat, eat at the Wimpy. Okay? W I M P Y. It's called the Wimpy. They have brekkie sandwiches. Now here's what I need you to know. Every. Every, let's see, what is it? Every 19 rands. That's what it's called. A rand is $1. So you'll see it and you'll go, man, this brekkie sandwich is 83 rands. That seems expensive. But then, Drew, it's only like $3.50 and you get a big old brekkie plate. So I highly recommend the Wimpy in the airports in South Africa.

Breakfast sandwiches. In South Africa they call brekkies, which I think is very fun. Very cute. Very cute.

What's next on your big South African journey? What?

[Drew Franklin]

Well, what's your next. So we are going to the, the, the prison where Nelson Mandela was held for all of those years. I'm going to Table Mountain. They have a mountain mountain that is over the city of Cape Town that looks like a table. Like it's up in the air but then it's completely flat at the top. And you know, then just going to do things like have some more brekkies and be ready to rock.

Well, this is Stellenbock is fairly, fairly safe. Cape Town is. It's a Johannesburg. At least just yogurt place in Johannesburg. Last thing before we go, since we won't have KSR to talk about this on. Did you see the video of Zach Bryan climbing the barbed wire fence to try to beat up Gavin Adcock? I'm not a Zach Bryan guy, but I'm on his side. That video, I don't even know what they're fighting about, but that video is hilarious. And I will tell you, you do not fight a man who's climbing over a barbed wire fence.

No, not at all. A man climbing over a barbed wire fence with eight huge individuals just waiting on the other side. I don't know much about Gavin Adcock. I'll admit I listen to Zach Brian as a person. Don't really want to. Don't know that I am a fan of him as a human being, but I wanted him to get over that fence so bad just to see what the next step was.

[Drew Franklin]

And I don't know who Gavin Adcock is, but he's wearing that stupid vest. He looks like. I mean, he looks. He looks like a cowboy at Epcot. And. And when he's. When. When Zach Brian, you can see he's walking towards the fence. And then when Zach Brian's like, starts climbing the fence, he keeps walking like, yeah, you want some? Because he's like, this crazy dude's not going to jump over this barbed wire fence. And then he, Zach Bryan puts his hand on the barbed wire. And at that moment, you could see Gavin Adcock be like, all right, maybe I need to back up. And he did the thing where he was like, hey, security, get in between us. Get in between us. It was.

Yeah. Gavin's biggest guy grabs him and tells him to go away when Zach gets like one leg over also.

[Drew Franklin]

What are they fighting about, by the way? What are they upset about?

[Matt Jones]

This Gavin Adcock character is just throwing. Throwing insults everywhere. You know our guy Charlie Crockett, he's in a fight with him. I guess he's kind. Well, he's kind of bro country and he's okay, kind of take Charlie Crockett is country country.

[Drew Franklin]

Well, kind of bro country too, isn't he?

I. That's why it's all so stupid. I think Gavin Adot's doing it to get his name out there a little more. He's on a different tier.

He almost, as the kids would say, breed around and found out because he. I would just say this Zach Brian new level of scared of for me. He put his hands on that barbed wire like a crazy man.
